Member of 24 Hour Fitness for 17 years. Pay $99.00/yr. At the time of the contract the salesperson told me that if I pay 3 years of membership for about $650.00 then, for rest of your life I am paying $99.00/year and I can transfer to any 24 Hour Fitness in U.S. Now 24 Hour Fitness open new gym in my town but I cannot transfer because I am paying about $8.00/mo. They told me that I have to pay $40/mo. I think this is outrageous and misleading the consumer. Any help is appreciated!

They knew about it, yet they DIDN'T even try to help me, all they care is MONTHLY DEDUCTION!!! TOOK ME 5-6 MONTH!!! They were deducting money from me and not letting me go INSIDE!!! Eventually had to cancel!!! More: They have a ROBOTIC Customers Service! It's like you are talking to pre-programmed robots. "It's the policy...The policy Says that...We can't go out of policy". BE HUMAN!!! YOU WRITE THE POLICY! NOT THE OTHER WAY!!!

So dirty and smelly. I'm now in LA Fitness...so far happy!!! Msg to 24 HOURS Owner and Management Team!!! "If YOU don't know how to serve a customer, THEN SHUT DOWN THE BUSINESS". I won't waste a penny on such management. And from the reviews and valuable CUSTOMER FEEDBACKS... I can clearly see the end of the current business/management. :)

I had my $99 annual membership for the longest time and during every relocation process I made sure my address was up to date with 24 Hour Fitness. Somehow 24 Hour Fitness missed to update my mailing address with physical address and I didn't receive my renewal notice. I have gone through customer service and contacts multiple different locations to get my annual membership back for the last 2 years and seems like it always end up in a hole and fake promises are made but no one delivers. It would be nice to find a way to get something from a company we took $99 a year for many years and even with their mistake they are pushing customers to get out of that deal and pay higher membership fees.

Member with 24 Fitness PQ for 3 months. This gym is nasty. The front desk people always look like someone owe them money not paying back. You can literally smell odor pass through the weight area. The group exercise classes look nice only in paper. Try couple classes, all the instructors are old, overweight, tired all the time and don't exactly know what are they teaching. People can easily get injured by taking their classes. Most of the people here workout are either senior or they have grandfather account, don't really pay much to access the gym (90 per year). They continue raise new members with higher price without inform us. Waste my money just to check out this place.

Canceling membership is very difficult. Two months from now, my membership expires. I tried to cancel my membership this morning. I cannot cancel it without paying my entire membership off. I asked could they please mark my account to end after my commitment. They refused to cancel my membership until I called again at the end of my commitment. I don't mind paying what I owe, but I definitely do not want to run the risk of forgetting to call back a second time to cancel. Where is customer service? Nonexistent with 24 Hour Fitness. I am Highly upset, but they do not care. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I MADE.

I have seen the staff attack ** members, deny them services and look the other way when Hispanic members assaulted disabled ** seniors. Besides the obvious, adult "services" are solicited to members that are not appropriate for any business to allow on the premises. The equipment and lockers rooms have a great deal dirt, visible mold/mildew and have been shut down along with the kids care for outbreaks of lice and influenza. Parking lots are a free for all, car break-ins, adult "services" transactions being completed and the staff refusing to alert the PD instead alerting a security company that does not respond. This not an environment for adults let alone kids.

In average the facilities are OK... the higher the level of membership the cleaner they are. I always go late at night (when I can) because they are Pack during the day... AND believe me You don't want to breathe that kind of sweaty air. I guess it's a normal thing in any gym... And since I just go to workout (high intensity), and not for "the look at me thing" It does work perfectly for me. I like to go to several ones on different levels of membership. The staff is always nice and courteous. Unfortunately some clubs have the policy to close at night (even when the name is 24 Hour Fitness)... I enjoy workout at night. Other thing that I would like to see is to remain open during the holidays... Is when there is more free time to workout because pretty much people is out of jobs and they even close earlier the day before. Other than that I'm very happy with my 24 Hour gym.

Bad experience. I enrolled in Kaiser Permanente's Senior Advantage. This program offers, among things, free well and fitness program. I enrolled with 24 Hours Fitness under Kaiser's Well and Fitness program. I talked with 24 Hours customer service and asked to change my membership from regular program to Kaiser Well and Fitness. I gave to the customer service my Kaiser Well and Fitness Program ID number. The customer service wanted me to secure a letter from Kaiser that shows that I'm enrolled with Kaiser' s Well and Fitness Program.

I called Kaiser and they told me I don't need a letter. They called 24 Hours Fitness and then told me that I am enrolled with 24 Hour Fitness under the Kaiser program. It took almost one year after I discovered that I was not enrolled with 24 Hours under the Kaiser program. I didn't know that 24 Hours continued charging my membership from my wife's credit card. I have been paying Kaiser program and 24 Hours separately for almost a year. I demanded from 24 Hours a refund and when it refused to do so, I cancelled my regular membership with it.

Brought a friend to join me for a few days (wanted to use the 3 day pass from their website). Friend had done this a year before prior to joining Xfit gym which they no longer do. Told general manager friend didn't need a tour as they had been there before and was moving to another city soon (that has multiple 24 Hour Fitness gyms). He said they don't offer any sort of guest passes or trials and since she was not a resident (not true) they aren't able to get any free trial/pass. He said that "sometimes" on Fridays they allow friends for free but there are no such thing as guest passes or trials. We didn't fill out the form online since it's always been so easy to just fill it out in the gym (know multiple people that have been guests and never had issues). So instead of arguing with the GM, we paid the $20 and did our workout.

Afterwards, I approached the front desk to ask why we were told there are no guest passes / free trials and showed them their website with a three day guest pass and was in fact something they offer and we should not have been charged. A manager came over, agreed that it's something we shouldn't have been charged for and would go get the GM to reverse the charge. The GM was the person who charged us in the first place and said that because friend wasn't a resident (which we had to remind him again that the friend was) and since she would be moving in a couple months (to a city with 24 Hour Fitness locations nonetheless) that they weren't seriously looking for a membership and therefore didn't qualify for the three day trial. He pointed to the fine print that said to see club for details.

Pretty dishonest for a general manager to tell a paying customer that there is no such thing as ANY guest pass or free trial then said that he determined a guest was not a serious candidate to buy a membership therefore would be denied the free trial that he previously said did not exist. The friend described the GM as overly arrogant and a total ** and said they will never get a membership at a 24 Hour Fitness. They were pretty appalled to be lied to and told they weren't going to get a membership by a general manager. Horrible representative of the company. In addition to this, the facility is disgusting - pee all over floor in men's room, toilet paper scraps frequently on floor, dirty mop and bucket left right at entrance of bathroom (why?!), sauna looks like the wood is water logged with decades of human fluids, machines are missing pads, broken seats, etc.

I've taken my 2 and 11 year old to kids club but since my 11 year old would always do their job and take care of my 2 year old there was never a bad outcome. Yesterday I decided to take my 2 year old and my 11 month old to the same kids club for the first time without my 11 year old and it took me about 45- 50 minutes to enroll my 11 month old because the employees are not well trained and don't have the right information to perform their job. Finally I get her into the kids club go for my workout and within 20 min or less two employees go get me and all they say is to go because something happened with my child. I was scared rushing to see my kids. I found my two year old with deep scratches all over her face, ear and neck! As if she was attacked by a huge cat! They told me another kids had done that to her while they were up on the slide. So apparently once the kids go on the slide no one is watching over them.

It clearly took them a while to notice my 2 year old daughter was getting beat up by an older boy judging by the amount of deep scratches all over her, some so deep it would probably be leaving scars! The manager talked to me and offer me a free month. Lol what an insult! I've been a member since 2011 and pay the highest monthly payment since it's a super club and 3 kids membership. I didn't go there for the free month. What I wanted was for them to do what they advertise and run a safe and kids friendly environment for my kids but they are not capable of, the employees there are NOT qualified to run the front desk, bad customer service and the worse childcare! 24 hour should hire qualified individuals and give them the right training for the position being held.

Also, we don't discuss temporary freeze the account unless it is a monthly payment... We can't tell when people goes into the hospital, trip or what. So, there's nothing I can't do". My entire membership has been wasted.

I come back and my membership is canceled and found a cancellation email sent to me on Oct 31 2017. Called the gym. The manager said call the customer service whom I had talked back in Oct. Britney, I think was the representative's name, said she put my account for investigation which will take 7-10 days. She said she puts a note on my account so I can use the gym meanwhile. She even said do not go to the gym right now, give it 24 hours for this to appear on your account.

Today, almost 48 hour later, I come to the gym and they very rudely and with no understanding or compassion deny my access and treat me like I am trying to sneak in! Jenny her name was and another girl. Shame on them for treating a customer after 23 years. I called the customer service again while I am still at the gym and all they say is "Sorry, get a new membership!!!" That is it? Does this explain how and why you canceled my membership? Why did she tell me I have access then? I wouldn't walk in if I wasn't given false information and lied to. Did you just wanted to humiliate me by denying me access? What an embarrassing moment! And to be embarrassed by unprofessional people? Shame on you for treating everyone the same. Money is not everything, 24 Hour Fitness!

Purchased Bally's lifetime membership in the 1980s with a friend. $1700 to have a lifetime fixed annual renewal rate. Moved to Colorado and added a family member to my membership under friends/family promotion in 1989/1990 for the same fee we paid before, but the annual renewal rate was the same too. That club closed several years later, but our lifetime memberships were good nationwide, so we had no "home" club, but our memberships still worked everywhere. The last clubs we used were in Denver. 24hr Fitness bought Bally's in ??2015?? and we never got a notice, but had moved to Florida. We paid for our 3 year renewals in 2014 and tried to go to the Orlando Bally's in late 2015 to find the club closed, which is when we discovered the 24hr Fitness buyout.

Went to the 24hr Fitness in Orlando and we were told our accounts were closed due to non-payment of dues. The branch tried to help fix it, but couldn't work on an inactive account so we had to work with the home office in Washington State. Sent proof of our Bally's memberships, dues payments through 2017, etc. and were told our membership wasn't transferred to them after all. They said they tried to contact us to start a membership with them but our information with Bally's didn't transfer (all information in the Bally's system was correct for our current address, as evidenced by the bill we received in 2014 and the payments we made). They also couldn't answer why our Bally's account numbers were in their system or why they had a new membership number for us if we weren't part of the membership conversion.

In the end, they simply said we were never part of the transferred memberships and couldn't explain what happened to the 2 years of membership we paid for. This looks an awful lot like the issue that happened in 2011 when Anytime Fitness and LA Fitness bought some Bally's areas and a class action lawsuit about lifetime Bally's memberships resulted, but they made good on their lifetime membership transfers in the end. 24 Hour Fitness needs to do the same thing.

Englewood Cliffs, NJ location. The people working there can best be described as used car salesmen and scammers. Not the kind of people one would invite to dinner or would want to be married into the family. Their human resources must be one crown jewel. The parking is good and the gym is located in a very nice neighborhood. Though few of the upper-class residents attend this gym. NOT open 24 hours. The steam room was broken before it was a 24 Hour Fitness and it remains broken after. So for several decades, the steam room has been broken. I understand things break. The worst I have seen was a steam room that has been broken for several years, but for decades?

Many of the gym members are thugs. Rude and stupid. Originally took a girl with me to the gym. But the constant harassment was too much. I guess a good thing if a woman is desperately seeking companionship. But the pickings are slim. This is NOT a gym where the well-educated professional with good character tends to attend. No place to just sit and relax. No cafe style area. There are drinks sold. Offering WiFi is a HUGE controversy at all 24 Hour Fitnesses. They have a scam fee. Initiation fee + monthly fee + yearly scam fee. A $50 additional fee that offers nothing. The entire atmosphere and mindset of 24 Hour Fitness are demoralizing. The staff, the members, and the policies are depressing.

The last 2-3 months amenities such as hot tub or steam room seem to be constantly not working. From the green water (2 times) in hot tub to a steam room that is only 90 degrees instead of 110 (which is the norm) to a pool that is now only 80 degrees. I swim for exercise and the pool had been 82-83. That is how it is advertised on website. I often try to call in evening before to see what is working but lately I have not been getting the full truth. I have shared my concerns with them and almost nothing has been done. He told me that he could not help me because it was a different department. So he transfers me and again I’m on hold for another 15 minutes. Horrible customer service! We had joined this gym when it was first opened on Sutter Street in San Francisco and had been their members since the late 80s. General reviews for those years about the gym were that they were adequate but not your typical top gyms... Believe it was $29/mo, more or less. We were pestered by their staff. We saw often when they expanded the base to Post/Van Ness and were sold a two-year contract for two persons at $677/2 years and then $49 x 2 the third year on for life. Sounds splendid RIGHT. Beware, they did not send statement each year and had been debiting our bank accounts on file on 3rd; fourth; fifth year thereabouts.

Suddenly, they stopped debiting our bank account (bearing in mind that they did not send any billing statements or even reminders to begin with) and that on one visit; we were told the life membership got suspended for non-payment. Our bank card has been active and in good standing and at the least why not a reminder letter to our address we had lived for 30 plus years. They just scammed you with such obvious tricks... When it sounds too good to be true; it usually is so beware of those unprofessional and dirty tricks!!!

In additions; the gym with their International affiliates known as California Gyms had scammed many overseas members with similar scams by selling them life memberships and then filed bankruptcy down the road. Just google and do your homework for those lawsuits. Classic Scammers... Won't do biz with them again and do save yourselves the troubles. To be fair they would be alright on a month to month or short term but NEVER allow them to sell you that BS life memberships which do not stand the test of time. We are ones of those victims worldwide!!!

In May of 2017, I called 24 hour Fitness to cancel mine and my husband's gym memberships because we moved away from an area with any of their gyms. I was told that we had to move 20+ miles away to get out of our contract. We had moved 19 miles away and both worked in the opposite direction of their gyms. They would not allow us to cancel even though it wasn't remotely possible to work out at any of their facilities. We agreed to let our contract pay out monthly until it expired in December 2017. I was instructed to call in November to make sure it canceled before going to a month-to-month membership. Well, I called in November to make sure our accounts were cancelled and found out that our accounts had been placed on hold when I had previously called in May even though I had never requested it.

Also, we had been charged a monthly fee to have our accounts on freeze. Not only had our membership not been continuing so we could cancel it, but we were still being charged just to have our accounts frozen. I spoke to several different representatives and supervisors and none of them cared that a change had been made to our account without our permission. I requested that they go back and listen to the recording of the phone call in May and they said they didn't have the ability to do that and they could only go off the notes from the previous representative (I know that they record all the phone calls and can listen to them if needed so this was a huge lie).

I also later found out from a former 24 Fitness Employee that they are instructed to place people's accounts on freeze when they try to cancel their memberships. They refused to refund the fees incurred from being on the freeze that we never requested and they still would not cancel the membership claiming that we had 7 months left on our contract since we had placed it on a freeze. After being on the phone for over 2 hours, I finally agreed to pay a little over $220 to pay out the contracts and be done with 24 Hour Fitness Forever.

Skip to Jan 2018. My husband was reviewing our bank accounts and noticed that 24 Hour Fitness was still charging us our monthly dues!!! My husband called to figure out what was going on and to get a refund for the Dec/Jan fees that were charged. They said that my membership had been cancelled, but my husband's was still going because I wouldn't have the authority to cancel my husband's membership without his permission! Are you kidding me?! No one had mentioned this in any of the previous conversations and I had specifically requested that both our accounts be cancelled (especially since we were on the same account!).

It was an act of God to get them to cancel my husband's membership (which should have already been cancelled) and refund the 2 month's of dues that should have never been pulled from our account. My husband and I own a successful business and I wouldn't dream of treating our customers and clients so poorly. This was, by far, THE worst experience I've had with any business. I recommend that you never give 24-Hour Fitness your bank account or credit card information because it is nearly impossible to get them to stop taking your money. My husband and I absolutely will not do business with a 24-Hour Fitness for as long as we live.

Tuesday November 28, 2017, having just left a physical therapy appointment for an injured shoulder, I adhered to the advice of my therapist and stopped by the 24-Hour Fitness facility located at 4480 E. Charleston, Las Vegas, Nevada. I live three miles from there. I asked for a walkthrough and a man gave me a tour. I explained that I am 63-years old and in a bit over a month on January 01, 2018, I will be on Silver Sneakers and can attend the spa at no cost to me. But, due to my shoulder injury I really need the pool and spa, now. I was shown the pool and hot-tub but through the glass window located in the exercise machine area. It did not occur to me to insist that I go inside the area. From a distance it looked sparse but usable. So I paid for two-months.

On Thursday November 30th I went in for the first time to use the facility. The pool was cool and the water so low that it was hard for me at 5 foot 6 inches, to work my shoulder. I had to crouch down. Finally I decided it may be easier to do figure eights and the other exercises I was attempting to do in the hot tub. The temperature was very nice and I settled in, but the water was not up as high as it should be. If I sat on a seat or step, my arm was out of the water. That was frustrating but while I sat there I was shocked by the amount of yellowed scum foam on the water. I know soap from swimsuits can cause some of that, but not to this degree. Also the tile grout was black with scum and mold. The water flow hole looked like a place a troll may reside. Gross. I got out. I told the desk person that it was too nasty to use and she assured me she'd get someone to clean it ASAP.

I returned two-days later, on Saturday Dec 02, and found the pool cool and dingy. The hot tub was just as bad as before. Also a large man in the pool – his walker blocking the steps – was sitting on the steps in what looked like a black plastic bag? I decided to try the sauna which was pretty full. Then the big man in the bag came into the sauna and he and a woman were talking super-loud. I could not relax and the man was sweating profusely. When he took a rag and sopped up his sweat and then rung it out onto the floor, splattering it all over. I got out.

On my way out I noticed how nasty the concrete floor was too. There's rust everywhere and the showers, plastic chairs and bathrooms are poorly cleaned. Clearly there has been long term deferred maintenance. I went to the desk and said I wanted my money back and was told that I had 3-business days to ask for a refund. I am sure that's in the small print but it was not mentioned when I paid my money.

It was less than 3-days since I visited on Thursday and first complained, but 4-business days since I paid on Tuesday, before I saw the facility close up. I made this point and the young man I talked to told me to come back on Monday and talk to the manager **. I did and she was not there. The lady I talked to Monday could not help me and told me that ** would be there at 10:00 am the next morning, but to call first to be sure. Tuesday morning I called at 10:00 am. ** was in a meeting in Henderson and would be all day. I told the lady on the phone what was going on and all she said was, “Well it is past three days.” I said, “I am really getting angry about this, I paid for something I did not get, because the place is too nasty to use.” She said, “Alrighty then!” I hung up.

I filed a dispute with my bank regarding the money I paid for nothing but aggravation and I am sending this letter to the 24-Hour Fitness Headquarters, the Clark County Health Dept., and I will post it on all 24-hour fitness sites in Las Vegas. Whatever happened to business integrity and the rights of a customer? Not to mention that the spa seems to make a lot of their money on seniors and Silver Sneakers and seniors cannot afford to get infections or get sick from the unsanitary conditions at that facility.

The girl told me she can't find notes that I canceled and so she would cancel my account today but I wouldn't get my money back! I wanted to speak to a supervisor. And the girl said I would only wait up to a min on hold but it ended up being over 10 minutes on hold. When I finally started speaking to a supervisor, she basically called me a liar cuz the account wasn't noted and that she will not refund me my money.

She kept saying my name wrong so I corrected her and after correcting her she would use my name in every sentence. I asked her to stop saying my name in every sentence and she stated that I was not being professional so she put me on hold... when she got back on I asked her how is me asking her to stop using my name in every sentence unprofessional? She said I said other words when I did not. Was on that call for over an hour and they are just rude and say things then reword it because apparently I am too stupid to understand. That supervisor would tell me things that I would say back and she would reword it. Not honest or respectful or loyal to their members or member states that want to cancel. I have to say this particular gym is just terrible and here is why: Urinals in men restroom are always broken and non functional, urine stays in it for long time causing terrible odor. It's just ridiculous that such simple things cannot be fixed for such a long time by managers of this gym. Equipment is pretty old. Some of machines are non functional and broken. While working in free weight area it's always hard to find right weight for the bar, because there are only few of little weight plates and they are always in use.

When come to the gym it's a real challenge to find available and functional locker box. Most of them are just broken. The gym is extremely overcrowded, most of the time. When the gym is closing at 2 pm on some holidays don't be surprised that you are not allowed to come in at 1 pm. There is a pool in the gym, but it's just disgusting. The water is extremely chlorinated. People prefer to stay away of this pool. Overall this is probably the most terrible gym I have ever seen. I'll be looking for alternatives for sure.

I signed in and went in the men's locker's room. As I was undressing a woman came in the men's locker room, I look around to other gym members and everyone seems concerned. I thought it was very unusual, so I dressed myself back up and went to the front desk to report the incident. As I approach the front desk the same lady that was in the men's locker room heard me telling the situation to one of the employees. The employee told that she was allowed to do this because she considered herself a man.

I asked the employee a few more question to try to better understand what was happening. The same lady got really upset and started calling names and insulting me because I was talking to the employee regarding the issue. I did not wanted to argue with her or anyone, so I just went back to the locker room to change and did my workout as usual. After I was finish with my workout, and as I was leaving the gym the Manager approached me to tell me that my membership was going to be cancelled because the same lady complained about me. The representative offered to freeze my membership, but since I used to work for this horrible company years back I understood that this meant if my account is not cancelled by October they will charge me $40 annual fee.

I told the rep that I do not want to freeze since I can join at any time with no initiation with the company I work for. The rep said fine he would cancel it and I would receive a confirmation email. This was my first mistake, I went about my day as though I just dealt with a large corporation that cares for it's customers and not just it's bottom line. I was clearly wrong! This representative put my account on hold, I am not sure if they are incentivized to do so or just makes them look better, and come October I am charged the annual fee & my membership fees as well. I called thinking a huge corporation like this would clearly have a good business model with their customers, like Amazon, but I was WRONG!

The rep literally told me these charges are completely true and correct per our notes in your account which state that you want to simply freeze the membership for a maximum 6 months. After then speaking with a manager about this I was told that these charges will never be removed since they are correct. I am blown away by how terrible 24 Hour Fitness customer service is. I work for a company where I am in contact with people moving to the city I live in on a DAILY basis. I will now be sharing my story with every single person I meet that moves to this area and be sure that not one of them signs up for 24 Hour Fitness. I’m a member of 24 Hour Fitness and when I signed up for a membership the manager told me that I could bring a guest once every six months. On Friday, I brought my boyfriend, what I didn’t know was that as I tried to signed him up for a membership and he used the gym once under the membership, he couldn’t be guest and he would had to pay $20, well it was fine until the staff was very rude to explain it to us, she treat us very bad, however, what made me very upset it was the manager that I’ve never seen him before, who talked to us in a very rude tone and inappropriate way, as I wasn’t worthy to the gym.

Well, if he treats everyone like that, he will make everyone cancel their membership as what I felt like doing at the time. I’m one person, it wouldn’t make a difference for the gym, however, I have friends going there and one person giving bad review can cause a lot damage for the gym. 24 Hour Fitness needs to train better their staff of how to deal with customers.

I am a student already starting my university courses, and my experience with 24 Hour Fitness sound like they might just be borderline ILLEGAL. I signed up last month on labor day where I didn't need to go through the $100+ initiation fee because of the promotion they were having, and knowing my friend is working out at 24HF, I thought I could learn a few workout routines from him.

At the time, University courses didn't start until the end of the month for me, so I figured I could learn a few work out routine from my friend working out at 24. So I talked to one of their "Sales Advisor" in which I told him I was new at signing up for a gym membership (big mistake, in which I will go over that detail in a bit), and how I only wanted to work out for the ONE MONTH with my friend before starting university again. He acknowledges I only wanted to work out for one month because we both agreed it was silly when I already have a membership waiting for me coming back to school at uni.

Now knowing I was new at this because I told him, he didn't miss the opportunity to try and squeeze a bit of money out of me (which is understandable) by trying to use fancy terms for his Ultra Deluxe package for $100+ a month, which I told him once again that I was a student, and money was an issue for me, and I just wanted to workout for the one month and be on my way (Later I found the ultra deluxe package full benefit is only accessible in a few states, and not my state at all. So he was having me pay extra with no added benefits of what was in the package, spaw, massages, etc from what I heard).

We then go to the option of wanting me to pay for all club membership access or just the one. I opted for the single membership, since that 24 hour was close to my house, but he apologizes and told me that the system didn't have the one membership for this 24HF in this specific location (In which I questioned in my head, why then would you give me two options when you KNOW your system doesn't run the single membership...). Now, at the time, my friend was there with me as well, and I didn't want him to wait for too long, so I gave him the okay for the all access membership, which totaled $40 a month (which I was fine with as long as it's really $40 for that one month).

And do you know what the ** up part about all this? This Sales Advisor failed to notify me he was going to place me in a one year commitment plan (aka, I have no right to cancel out of it for the ONE YEAR), nor did he tell me about the other option of paying a little extra to cancel at anytime when I specifically told him I only wanted to work out for 1 MONTH. I only found out about that option after I came in to cancel with one of the sales representative telling me they couldn't do anything because I was on that same commitment plan.

So you would expect the SHOCK I was going through when they had told me. My last hope is to come in and meet the General Manager to try and get this sorted out, but my chances are grim I was told. I read the policy on the commitment plan and the only way out of it is to be in military service at the time, or die! Yes, literally ** die! It's that grim. Bottom line is, I feel really trapped right now, and next week I have exams I have to worry about. I wanted to call out that sales adviser who got me into this mess, but coincidentally, he doesn't work there anymore, so ** me, right? To future and present 24HF members, be sure to clearly ask what you're getting yourself into when you sign up. It's a real pain in the ass with all the hidden fees you will get yourself into. Never again.

The only reason this has 2 stars rather than one is because my time in the gym was good. The classes were great and it was a clean and friendly environment. However, when I moved back into college leaving after summer and tried to cancel my membership, they didn't follow through. I acknowledged the standard procedure was going into the store to cancel, and asked if there was any way to cancel over the phone since my home gym was 3 hours away (I asked because if they told me no, another location was a 1 hour drive I was willing to make to ensure my membership was indeed cancelled before being charged another month).

They agreed to let me speak with a manager, who took my phone number down and said he would cancel it the next morning. I took him at his word and thought that was the end. However, the following month I was charged the annual fee, plus my regular monthly charge. Since there was nothing on file from my conversation with the manager, they couldn't refund me the $100. Very disappointed in the way they did not follow through on their word, as I would have driven to the nearest gym to save that money. Double check your membership is actually cancelled and get proof, so the same thing doesn't happen to you.

I was dissatisfied with how 24 Hour Fitness handled my membership cancellations. My wife and I put our memberships on freezes due to expire in Mar 2017. In Sep 2016, I visited our location in Katy TX, and canceled our family memberships and the add-on ones for the children. For some reason only mine and our children's were canceled - there was a charge in Sep 2016, but I disputed it and it was resolved. I just realized - my oversight - that they began charging our credit card again in Mar 2017 for just my wife's membership. Because it is a credit card we don't use frequently, I didn't catch it till 6 months later. I contacted their phone number for cancellations, and they claimed they had no record of the cancellation, even though they can verify there has been no usage for over a year.

They explained they had no reason to doubt me, but because they didn't have documentation of the cancellation, they wouldn't give a refund. I concede I was slow in recognizing the charges, but I also believe we clearly had communicated cancellation - we got no notice that they had begun charging, even though they claim they send notice by email (I looked and couldn't find an email notice, although they send lots of junk advertising). I have formally submitted a complaint at their corporate website. As other reviewers have implied, they are not very customer oriented and resort to citing their membership policies on refunds - i.e. not giving any.

I was misled to believe if I canceled before the 30 day trial is over the Membership annual fee of $111.76 would not be cashed (it was cashed) and I would not have to pay monthly fees (I was charged for two months). The Newark location did not have working copying equipment and I was reassured it would be canceled the next day. In which corporate was not informed of cancellation and I was charged for membership annual fee and monthly fees for two months 49.99 x 2 = 99.98. Total amount is $211.74. I would like a refund because 24 Hour Fitness was not authorized to charge is $211.74. I did not think it would happen to me and it did due to poor training from corporate.

I told the employee to please lower it, and he responded that they did not have any way to regulate the intensity of the music, because the controls were at the Manager’s office. The noise is unbearable in the locker room and showers, since the ceilings are lower. It is very uncomfortable. I tried to send another letter to their site. The site does not work. I called, the wait is 20 minutes! I have been a member of 24 HOUR FITNESS since 2002. Being a franchise gym there were more options and better quality of equipment as well. The franchise I went to was smaller than what I like and didn't have enough classes I liked. For example, as a former dancer I enjoy the classes based on barre exercises and would like those classes to be available as well. But there was enough of a variety of equipment and ways to work out that I found appealing. It had also offered a free trial period that was nice as I got to test and see if this gym was there right fit for me.

Also, because the gym is always opened, it's not constantly crowded because people don't have the pressure of going at crammed in scheduled times. There's also no pressure for a rushed workout which is huge!! I can work at my own pace without racing against the clock!!!

Tanning booths are extremely important to me and I don't like having to wait forever because there's only one available for the entire gym! I feel like a gym opened 24 hours should have multiple tanning booths so it's not an inconvenience for the customers. Sometimes I'd have to just not go tanning as much as I wanted to because I wasn't coming back again just to use the tanning booth after my workout time was completed. If I'm paying for this service, It shouldn't have to become a habit for me to either wait to start working out, wait after my workout, or just have to leave and not tan because I can't wait for the list of people signed up before me considering there's only one booth available.

Cancellation Nightmare! Stay Away! I joined 24 Hour Fitness in Temecula a little over a year ago. My commute was 1+ hours each way and this was the only big gym in Temecula. I chose a month to month plan since places like these are so difficult to cancel. Starting late last year, I was able to work from home and didn't need to use 24 Hour as much. In January I asked the people at the club to cancel my membership and was told everything was good to go. In June I got a call saying I was past due $45-$50 on the account and had to pay. I called back in and spoke with someone and explained I cancelled in person. They said they called the club and "had no records" of this happening. I asked to cancel the membership, but had to pay a past due amount and a penalty fee, the latter which was waived.

Fast forward to today, I receive a call saying I owe them $110! I call back in, and after 30+ minutes on hold was told that "the rep wasn't legally able to finish the cancellation since the call disconnected." I said this was a lie, they collected $34.99 from me to cancel, and to pull the call. After escalating to management, they finally pulled the call. "After reviewing the call and verifying the cancellation was complete, you ended the call, so they weren't able to finish it." So... the cancellation was verified but they did not submit it. They wanted to charge me for June and July dues, plus the July annual fee! They were so very, very nice in offering to waive $30 in fees, so they ended up defrauding me of another $75. I will never, ever again work with such a shady business that offers zero way to cancel online, offers zero way to cancel in person, makes it exceedingly difficult to even contact a human, then lie about the cancellations.

24 Hour Fitness has been fantastic to me in every way and I recommend it. I work out there multiple times per week to get more fit. Despite my large size and heavy weight, everyone there cheers me on. Everyone there is very friendly, the staff is great and supportive, the price is low and the equipment is easy to use and reliable plus there's always plenty of stuff to occupy myself with. However, sometimes equipment breaks down for days at a time, which is a shame. Especially because I usually try to focus on some exercises in one day, so having the machine I want to use down is disappointing.

It's always open and conveniently located near my home and has a price I can afford per month. It also has a lot of strength exercise machines, lots of cardio machines, and enough variety to keep me interested. They could have less broken machines and they can also improve on cleanliness of the gym. They also might work on getting in more classes and a bigger class size, or more convenient way of signing up.

It's 24/7 so if you work during the night shift it’s perfect, and cheaper than what a lot of gyms offer also. Their policies are straightforward and the machines are just outstanding. Great for cardio, lifting the whole lot. It's a cheap place also so it's not like you're getting ripped off.

I like that this gym is open 24 hrs and I have children so being able to go exercise when my husband gets home from work and can sit with the kids no matter what time it is is great. I also like that they have a swimming pool and a sauna as I love to swim. I chose this gym over other gyms because of the convenient locations. I also enjoyed the amount of equipment that was available. At the time I had a membership at this gym it had affordable prices and the staff was great and were willing to listen to what I truly needed to get out of them and the gym. This gym met my expectations at the time I was attending.

If there were anything that I would like to change about the gym it would be maybe making specific rules and regulations that make the gym feel more comfortable for people who don't physically look the greatest and are judged and looked down upon from the men and women who have nice bodies and wear practically nothing to go work out. I have sometimes felt really out of place because I am in sweats and a t-shirt and most of the women have sports bras on and really tight fitting revealing clothes. There were also times I felt like the gym was more of a meat market where people went to hook up rather than exercise. I know I shouldn't let my surroundings affect and bother me but it makes the environment quite uncomfortable when you see certain things going on around you. But pretty good experiences there.

I was at a very local gym before but it wasn't taken care of well and the staff lacked anything more than punching a clock. I appreciated the staff at 24 Hour Fitness much more. Also, they have convenient locations that enable me to stop before work, during lunch or after work. I am never too far from a location. I also like that they have different type of facilities with some having more amenities. The gym with a pool may be a bit further than I would normally travel but have access to a pool is a life saver. However, I would prefer the facility with a pool to be a bit closer. It helps my health tremendously. A premium experience near my downtown work location would be a great help so that I can have concierge services and so forth.

It used to be very conveniently located to where we used to live and the price was right to join. While certain staff members were really great, polite and professional, other staff members were pretty awful - Some pushed ahead to gain access to equipment or machines. More variety of classes would be nice, cleanliness could be improved as could the general odor of the facility. Nevertheless, the size of the gym and the size of the parking lot were impressive features for being right in the middle of a busy neighborhood. The gym was always pretty clean and the showers themselves were clean as well. I'm picky about how things smell so they should have had a better air system in the building to filter the air or some industrial air fresheners. Also, there was always this group of guys who were loud and obnoxious. They seemed to be there anytime I went and it made it a little uncomfortable. I'm about 30lbs overweight and I'm a little self conscious. They would all group together and check out the women exercising and give me little smirks. They always made absolutely sure to grunt as loud as they possibly could when lifting weights... even if I could lift the same amount of weights myself without grunting even a little.

But it was closer to home and had really convenient hours of operations. These were the main reasons for me going to this gym. There aren't a lot of gyms in the area where we live so my options were limited. I work odd hours because I'm On-Call so I'm working at all hours of the day and it was open 24hrs which allowed me to go after work.

The swimming pool makes up a large percentage of my decision and my expectations for a gym. I need to complete a great deal of physical therapy on my own time to keep progressing and keep my physical medicine Drs that I am working & strengthening my core. I needed a location close to home and with flexible hours and a swimming pool would be the most welcome accessory to my fitness regimen. Anyone that I meet there is a bonus, for instance in classes and such. They help me to keep coming back and are new friendships on this trek of fitness.

I like the fact that 24 Hour Fitness is so closely located with such great hours. You can usually find what you need all under one roof. If you need a trainer, not a problem. Massage therapy, acupuncture, cupping, even sometimes chiropractics can be found during certain hours and certain locations. There's usually a snack or sports bar that keeps friendly hours and makes healthy smoothies and drinks and all that goes with. Just be prepared to transfer any medical records to any one you would like to see. It's best for all physicians involved in your medical care to see your records also. It keeps you the safest and the healthiest with all health care providers involved. I prefer to pick 1 store and make it my home base. It helps me to feel more comfortable using the "gym" that feels closest to me. I can always turn to that particular gym with any needs.

I dislike when gyms become meat markets. That you feel like you need to look better to go and work out then get the finished product. It makes it hard to get a routine started. Walking into gyms to get healthier is one of the most difficult things to do. That is why I recommended a home base gym or even if you have a partner in arms - whether a best friend or a work out pal, you can spur each other on to better things! It's difficult getting past the first few weeks. Anything to get you through these first six to eight weeks until this becomes a habit is extremely important.

I like all the fitness classes they offered, they had great child care included with your membership and they do a lot of fun physical activities with your kids while you workout! They had all new equipment because they just opened so it was nice to have clean, excellent, working equipment. They had a beautiful indoor Olympic sized pool that was quite lovely as well. Everything always looked clean & well taken care of. They had lots of programs that are there to help newbies with learning how to properly use the equipment.

It was lovely gym, just very very expensive. Also, the 24 hour thing is stupid, who exercises at 2 AM? Their 2 year contract is way too long as well & they push you into a long contract simply by charging a lot less if you commit for longer. I dislike companies that do things like this just because they can. All in all, it's not a terrible gym & I never had any issues with the staff or the equipment or cleanliness, so they met my expectations. I also really enjoy that the machines are always kept so nice and clean. But something that I would improve about the gym is the water fountains because sometimes they do not work or are out of order. I also feel a little weird being there alone during some hours of the night and I often worry about the safety of the place. I also would really enjoy if the changing room areas were kept up a little nicer or maybe add some vending machines with healthier choices for a quick snack after my workout is over because I am often in need of a little bite right after I work out and when I leave the gym there are a bunch of fast food places outside of it so it sometimes makes it hard to stay away from the fast food after my workout.

The location was convenient to my home and easily accessible. Also, the classes are great and the physical fitness instructors to help out. There is a variety of exercise equipment up to and including Nautilus machines and free weights and many of each to accommodate all guests. But like most gyms there are peak times and hours that are convenient to go and the gym can get quite crowded. Not so much of an issue at 24 Hour Fitness though.

24 Hour Fitness is a rad gym. It's fabulous and I love it. It makes me feel at home. It's also cheapest with the offer I have through the insurance at my business and it's close to my house. It's really great to meet people especially by the weights. I like the different machines and the fact that they give you towels. They have really nice locker rooms and fun classes like bodypump and yoga. But sometimes it's a little smelly and not always cleaned. Also, sometimes the classes are too full and it's hard to find a spot in yoga. The stretch room is really small and disgusting but the classroom is okay. Overall it is a very very nice gym.

I appreciated the weights and the machines that television or that incorporated your own body Weight. However, there weren't that many things 24 Hour Fitness had going for it. Primarily, the "policies" and the fact that it's a giant scam. I had to email back and forth with corporate for weeks to get out of a contract that was total horse **. These people are lying scum. I only chose it because of its location, but I've heard equally poor things about the other two mention, so much so that I would never join any of them ever again. The local YMCA or other local gyms are so much better.

I love several features of 24 Hour Fitness. The number one love is that it's open 24 hrs. I can workout whenever it's best for me and my schedule. I don't have to rush to get there before they close nor worry how much time into my workout I'll get before they close up for the night. On the other hand, I hate that they do not have security guards especially for those late night and early morning hours. Especially since I am a female that would choose those times to workout during the night. I also do not agree on the prices. It's too expensive for a membership.

If they gave membership for $15-20 a month for 1 person and $30-40 for 2 or/and it's a family plan and $5-10 for each person added on to the account. Also they should offer special discounts to the disabled and those that are obese. Nevertheless, I choose this gym because this is the one I had a membership at multiple times in the past. The other gyms (LA Fitness) I've only had a visiting day pass in the past. Also there are none in the area. I'd have to go way out of my way to get there.

They have open hours so you can go workout when you want, even in the middle of the night if you're able to. Or if you're meeting friends you know you'll have a workout time window that works for everyone. Lots of machines and workout options. Plenty of things to do and able to alternate workouts if you want or need to mix it up or alternate your workout during the week. But sometimes there is waiting on machines to be available if you went at a common time before or after work. Also, free weight space could be reduced to make room for more machines that are always in demand.

This gym was open 24 hours. But I heard some branches don't offer this convenience. My gym had less option than 24 hour sport gyms but that is okay since the machines we had were not old and the gym and locker room were comparatively cleaner than some branches. But I love the availability of the free weights however they need to have more of these as a lot of people prefer this to the machines. The only other problem I have is the ventilation. Sometimes the gym will be so humid.

The only means for me to get a competitive pricing was to get it from Costco. It is hard to have a good plan for individuals. It is only good for family. But family membership should also be more flexible than the 2 adult and 2 kids option. I wish they were also not so strict with bringing guest. It would be good if they had a guest pass for a nominal fee as I like to bring company sometimes. But the real draw for me was the longer operating hours.
