I joined 24 Hour Fitness in November 2016 paying $50/mo. I joined because of the flexibility and $5 child service charge. Shortly after joining, I became a single mom and had to bring my daughter with me. Unfortunately, she has HORRIBLE allergies. I explained to the staff that if she sneezes, it is because of her allergies and no other reason. When she did sneeze, I was approached by a manager who addressed me as her GRANDmother and not her MOTHER. After being HIGHLY offended and explaining yet AGAIN her situation, I was told we had to leave. We did.

In a separate instance, I finally set-up an appointment for my free coach consultation, she cancelled the day of our appointment and I NEVER heard from her again in regards to re-scheduling. Because I am a FULL TIME single Mom, I RARELY had days without her so my use of the gym was extremely limited. Last night (Nov. 19, 2018), I returned with my daughter after SEVERAL months absence. I was told the charge for child care had increased to $10!!! There was NO email or snail mail notification of this change and they refused to make any 1 time accommodation, no grace period. NOTHING. I immediately cancelled my $50 membership and will find a way somewhere else or maybe just an app. The service there is INSANE and the membership costs are ridiculous.

24 Hour Fitness at Cutler Ridge has the most terrible customer service worker named Jasmine. To handle customers the way she did just because one payment being late she called the police on me and my husband. She said we were trespassing. It was so embarrassing and very hurtful having to go through this. We do not pay $100.00 per month to have bad service and get treated like criminals.

I have actually been OK with 24 Hour Fitness but now I am skeptical. Verbally assaulted at the pool for wearing a covered swimming suit: which I have been wearing for years at 24 Hour Fitness, and approved by the manager at the time of sign up. Sad that the man who did this lied afterwards, and the young staff gentleman at the desk came into the pool afterwards to get his name but instead "shushed me" over 5 times while I was telling the man not to lie. Sad this happened in East Bay, a liberal, wonderful place to live.

This gentleman even said: "She came in wearing a skirt so I "just asked her", "Are they street clothes." "He didnt "just ask me". He yelled at me three times while I stood there. I am more upset that 24 Hour Fitness has cameras in their swimming area, and no one checked that before going in to speak to him. Is this still happening to women? I guess it is. I have to answer to strangers that have nothing to do with me about my choices in life.

I walked into San Ramon pool to swim last week early in the morning. No sooner had I placed my stuff down to an elderly gentleman, he yelled, with a sarcastic tone: "Those are not street clothes, are they?" I responded "No. It's a swimming suit." Surprised I bothered to answer, but the gentleman was old enough to be a grandfather, I wanted to maintain some level of respect without just walking by. So I assured him: "It's a swimming suit." But then he got really nasty: He shouted "it better be"! I was taken aback.

I asked him not to threaten me and he said "I will". I asked him to go to the manager and complain. Instead I ended up complaining to the front desk - and the young guy who came to "help" and I use that word liberally kept shushing me while I was speaking to this man. Not happy I was assaulted at 24 Hour Fitness, not happy staff treated me this way. I have served East bay for over 10 years. Not happy that this was a racist attack. Shame on 24 Hour Fitness! Esp when I see this man still comes to the gym.

There was some confusion with my account. It got put on automatic freeze. I had tried to cancel online, it looked like it didn't go through. I went in to cancel in person and thought I had explained to the representative that I wanted my account canceled. 6 months later after I had canceled I get a call that my account is actually still on "freeze" but "active" and that I owe the annual fee. It took hours of my time to get it sorted. NEVER sign up for 24 Hour Fitness. They are really sneaky and make it really difficult to get cancel.

I have been a member at 24 Hour Fitness since 2006 in California and then since 2009 in Texas which is roughly 12 years. For the past 2 years I have training at the Bedford, Texas location and have to tell you that this is the worst big franchise gym I have ever trained at as far as policy enforcement. Tonight 10/30/18 I told a ** guy to put his shirt on (he was running the treadmill shirtless) and the usual stuff happens - playing "the racial card", that usual slang and challenging me to a fight. Then a second man just like him (claimed he works there and they can work out shirtless) joins him and same kind of profanities. WOW.

Anyhow, every single week since I started working out at that location there are at least 5 people who throw weights on the floor, train shirtless, walk around bare feet, listening to their iPads with no headphones, so that everybody in the gym can hear their loud music and what not. This is the ONLY gym I have been to for the past 20 years. I have seen so much crap going on and no one from the staff cares. There are no signs to alert people about policies etc. In fact a few months ago I ran into a similar situation asking a group of men to turn down the music from the CD player they were carrying around and this went for 30 mins at least, before we start using profound language. Nobody was there to tell them they can't do that.

I can point at least 6-7 people who come there regularly who throw dumbbells on the floor like garbage, drop heavy weights on the ground when doing deadlifts. (I am all the way on the other side of the gym and the music is on, and the whole FLOOR IS VIBRATING from the weight pounding on the ground for 6-7 reps). People slamming weight on the machines with every single rep - the same guys, every time, that everybody see and can't stand them. Just last week there was another sweaty dirty clown walking on the treadmill shirtless dripping sweat all around him and smelling like ammonia. Where are your rules shown? This must be the ONLY location in the whole country where nobody cares that people constantly violate policy by: training with no shoes on, shirtless, slamming weights, listen to loud music and disturbing the other members. This is just outrageous.

I have been a member of this gym since 2004 and I have steadily watched the service and amenities deteriorate. I bought a renewable membership in 2004 in which you paid something like $700 up front for a three year membership that locked in the ability to renew at $100 per year. Pretty good deal right? Except... It was for the "sport" level of clubs, which 24HF began to essentially phase out by not updating their existing sport clubs. Any new clubs they opened they magically termed as "super sport" clubs.

In some cases, clubs that previously were "sport" magically were turned into "super sport"-- without any upgrades at all! It was this dirty way of essentially invalidating all of these renewable memberships out there. I've been paying a "supplemental" fee to upgrade to "super sport" membership, a process that actually makes my membership more expensive now than it would be if I had never had the renewable membership. Now, the shenanigan the company is pulling is that they have now ended towel service at all super sport clubs. Why? In order to be "green." Think about how ludicrous and flimsy that argument is.

People now have to bring in their own towels to workout and shower with, which means they are laundering them at home. Which means from a global perspective, it is not "green" at all to end towel service! It just means the company is cutting back services without cutting back on membership prices. I have completely had it with the crummy service and deteriorating experience at this chain. I would argue that you're much better off going cheaper (Planet Fitness) or more expensive. It doesn't make sense to have the worst of both worlds with this terrible company.

And after a while my account got charged 44.99$ without any warnings. I called them and cancel my membership and they refunded my 44.99$. Just to note I spoke with representatives and manager as well. Few days later after my refund guess what happened? They charged my card again 44.99$ and after I called them again they refused to refund the whole 44.99$ as they do have prorated system!!! I’ve been a long-time member with 24 Hour Fitness, and I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service at both the corporate office and the gym at 3600 W Orangewood Ave, Orange, CA. In the beginning of August, my friend and I went into the gym asking about the membership for her. The sales rep there misled my friend into signing a month-to-month membership and said as long as she cancels before 8/25 or earlier, her bank account would not be charged. Her only expense would be the $10 initial down payment which is nonrefundable.

She signed up under my master membership, tried the gym a couple of times, and didn’t like it. We ended up canceling her membership on 8/24 or earlier. Well, guess what? A few days later, her bank account was debited by around $60. I feel bad for my friend because she was misled by a sales rep that wasn’t well trained and didn’t know what he was talking about.

Since then, I’ve called the corporate office and the gym many times, explaining the situation over and over again each time I call. In speaking to the corporate office reps multiple times, one of the reps finally said that the corporate office can’t help me and that I would have to contact the 24 Hour Fitness in Orange directly. So that’s what I did. In speaking with the gym reps, they said the cancellation for a full refund has to be done within 5 days of the membership sign up, and it’s stated on the contract that she signed. I had to explain multiple times that my friend was misled by the sales rep. The customer service rep finally said she would have to check with the general manager to see if a full refund can be processed.

On 9/4, the service rep left a voicemail on my cell stating that a refund will be processed but will take up to 20 business days. My friend has received a $5 refund, then a $2 refund on 9/12. Under the impression that my friend was going to get a full refund minus the $10 down payment, I called the gym again on 10/11. Again, I had to explain the entire situation AGAIN. Once again, I am told the refund period is on the contract that she signed. I had to convince the rep that a refund was going to be processed by playing the voicemail on speaker on my phone while I have her on my work phone. Finally, when she looked into my account activities, she said the $2 on 9/12 was all that my friend was going to get, and that the refund is based on a prorated rate. The voicemail did not mention that at all.

At this point, I am tired of dealing with the reps of that gym. I find the customer service reps at both the corporate office and the gym not helpful at all. They are not well trained. In my multiple calls with them, I had to go back and forth with them, explaining the situation each time, and each time their responses would be different and inconsistent. I find that the sales rep misleading. He got my friend to sign the month-to-month contract and misstated the deadline for refund cancellation. When I bring this issue up with the corporate office, the office points its finger at the gym. When I bring the issue up at the gym, the gym points to the contract, not taking any responsibility for its untrained sales rep.

I brought my friend over to try out the gym membership, and she was misled and money was taken from her account. It’s very embarrassing since I was the one that brought her over. 24 Hour Fitness is quick to take a customer’s money, but it is nearly impossible to get it back. The corporate office and the gym does not take any responsibility for their untrained staff. My friend and I didn’t get any good customer service at all. Perhaps expecting good customer service and that the gym would make it right is too much. For these reasons, I will neither be a 24 hour fitness member in the future nor will I recommend the membership to any of my friends. In fact, I will recommend my friends to stay away from 24. I hope this gym goes out of business for its malpractice.

One of the **, worst gyms in the country, they lock you into the contract and nothing can be done at the gym except signing up. You must call the national line to do anything, which often has over a half hour of hold time. You must do this in order to: Change membership levels, File a complaint, Do anything related to change or cancellation. They do nothing to help you when you're there and the staff is mostly bros and kids who don't care at all about anything to do with helping you nor are they incentivized that way. Bottom line: if you don't want to lose money, pay more to go to a local gym.

The representative that spoke to me was talking over me the whole time as I was trying to explain the situation. Amazing how an American Based Customer Service team can act so unprofessionally. I never expected such disrespect and how unwilling these people are to help a person who has been a paying customer for over a year. The gyms that are/or were SPORTS gyms are now changing to SUPER SPORTS gyms to charge you more for membership just because more people are going there not because they upgraded their gym with the extra amenities such as a pool, spa, basketball court. So in short you're paying super sport prices and only getting sport amenities. Well they lost a member today. That brings up another question if they lose enough members will they go back to SPORT gym prices. SPORT GYM vs SUPER SPORT GYM > GYM >GYM >POOL >SPA >BASKETBALL COURT.

The salesman explained everything to me and I even verified it back to him and then when I felt I had all the answers and felt I trusted them because I was so clear with him about my concern with hidden fees, he walked me through each screen and explained that we already talked about this, or that, etc. and it was like a full page of tiny print and after talking with him for half an hour, I trusted that. Then I got the billing, and it was NOT what he stated.

There was NO mention of an annual fee AT ALL or we would not have joined knowing it was $200 for the family when we weren't sure that 2 of our 4 would utilize it much. Then they told us we can freeze memberships anytime and I was told that again in person when I asked in the gym because my one daughter goes back to college and the other starts bball season and won't be at their gym for months. Another lie. Apparently you can only freeze for certain reasons. They teach their salespeople to scam is what I am convinced of. So disappointed, again. 24-Hour Fitness uses a deceptive practice of charging a first and last month in advance. When one cancels the contract, as I did under their prescribed policy of doing so within the first 5 days of the month, in effect they charged me twice for my last month of membership -- once through paying the last month in advance and also being charged on my credit card for the same month, in effect paying twice for the same month. The general manager of the company said I had to tell them a month in advance that I intended to cancel my membership, even though there is nothing in my contract that states this. In good faith, I cancelled and expected that cancellation means cancellation, not a forewarning of cancellation but an actual cancellation, finish, end of membership, complete.

I spoke to the general manager of the national headquarters and found him to be rude and arrogant and refusing to accept the standard business practice that "the customer is always right," even though he acknowledged that there was nothing in the contract that said a member had to cancel a month in advance. Sad to say, 24-Hour Fitness management doesn't know the basics of business ethics.

My latest contract from 2000 allowed access to "All Fitness Clubs and Sport Clubs", but did not includes "Sporting Clubs by 24 Hour Fitness". Now they are opening clubs and put the word "Super" in the title, apparently to allow them to close (or rename) the clubs I have access to and force me to increase my payments approximately 300% to gain access.

I have a list of 50+ clubs that I have access to, some with the "Super Sport" title. I was told at my current club that I can exchange one of the super sport locations to the one near my house, but have not been allowed to by the GM. Everyone claims ignorance when I inquire about the process. Does anyone know a way to get this accomplished, or of any pending lawsuits regarding this "Super Sport" Scheme that would be of help? I foresee a day when "Super Sports" will be renamed to 'Super Duper Sports' and the game goes on...

The equipment and lockers rooms have a great deal dirt, visible mold/mildew and have been shut down along with the kids care for outbreaks of lice and influenza. Parking lots are a free for all, car break-ins, adult "services" transactions being completed and the staff refusing to alert the PD instead alerting a security company that does not respond. This not an environment for adults let alone kids.

AND believe me You don't want to breathe that kind of sweaty air. I guess it's a normal thing in any gym... And since I just go to workout (high intensity), and not for "the look at me thing" It does work perfectly for me. I like to go to several ones on different levels of membership. The staff is always nice and courteous. Unfortunately some clubs have the policy to close at night (even when the name is 24 Hour Fitness)... I enjoy workout at night. Other thing that I would like to see is to remain open during the holidays... Is when there is more free time to workout because pretty much people is out of jobs and they even close earlier the day before. Other than that I'm very happy with my 24 Hour gym.

Brought a friend to join me for a few days (wanted to use the 3 day pass from their website). Friend had done this a year before prior to joining Xfit gym which they no longer do. Told general manager friend didn't need a tour as they had been there before and was moving to another city soon (that has multiple 24 Hour Fitness gyms). He said they don't offer any sort of guest passes or trials and since she was not a resident (not true) they aren't able to get any free trial/pass. He said that "sometimes" on Fridays they allow friends for free but there are no such thing as guest passes or trials. We didn't fill out the form online since it's always been so easy to just fill it out in the gym (know multiple people that have been guests and never had issues). So instead of arguing with the GM, we paid the $20 and did our workout.

Afterwards, I approached the front desk to ask why we were told there are no guest passes / free trials and showed them their website with a three day guest pass and was in fact something they offer and we should not have been charged. A manager came over, agreed that it's something we shouldn't have been charged for and would go get the GM to reverse the charge. The GM was the person who charged us in the first place and said that because friend wasn't a resident (which we had to remind him again that the friend was) and since she would be moving in a couple months (to a city with 24 Hour Fitness locations nonetheless) that they weren't seriously looking for a membership and therefore didn't qualify for the three day trial. He pointed to the fine print that said to see club for details.

Pretty dishonest for a general manager to tell a paying customer that there is no such thing as ANY guest pass or free trial then said that he determined a guest was not a serious candidate to buy a membership therefore would be denied the free trial that he previously said did not exist. The friend described the GM as overly arrogant and a total ** and said they will never get a membership at a 24 Hour Fitness. They were pretty appalled to be lied to and told they weren't going to get a membership by a general manager. Horrible representative of the company. In addition to this, the facility is disgusting - pee all over floor in men's room, toilet paper scraps frequently on floor, dirty mop and bucket left right at entrance of bathroom (why?!), sauna looks like the wood is water logged with decades of human fluids, machines are missing pads, broken seats, etc.

They told me another kids had done that to her while they were up on the slide. So apparently once the kids go on the slide no one is watching over them.

It clearly took them a while to notice my 2 year old daughter was getting beat up by an older boy judging by the amount of deep scratches all over her, some so deep it would probably be leaving scars! Purchased Bally's lifetime membership in the 1980s with a friend. $1700 to have a lifetime fixed annual renewal rate. Moved to Colorado and added a family member to my membership under friends/family promotion in 1989/1990 for the same fee we paid before, but the annual renewal rate was the same too. That club closed several years later, but our lifetime memberships were good nationwide, so we had no "home" club, but our memberships still worked everywhere. The last clubs we used were in Denver. 24hr Fitness bought Bally's in ??2015?? and we never got a notice, but had moved to Florida. We paid for our 3 year renewals in 2014 and tried to go to the Orlando Bally's in late 2015 to find the club closed, which is when we discovered the 24hr Fitness buyout.

Went to the 24hr Fitness in Orlando and we were told our accounts were closed due to non-payment of dues. The branch tried to help fix it, but couldn't work on an inactive account so we had to work with the home office in Washington State. Sent proof of our Bally's memberships, dues payments through 2017, etc. and were told our membership wasn't transferred to them after all. They said they tried to contact us to start a membership with them but our information with Bally's didn't transfer (all information in the Bally's system was correct for our current address, as evidenced by the bill we received in 2014 and the payments we made). They also couldn't answer why our Bally's account numbers were in their system or why they had a new membership number for us if we weren't part of the membership conversion.

In the end, they simply said we were never part of the transferred memberships and couldn't explain what happened to the 2 years of membership we paid for. This looks an awful lot like the issue that happened in 2011 when Anytime Fitness and LA Fitness bought some Bally's areas and a class action lawsuit about lifetime Bally's memberships resulted, but they made good on their lifetime membership transfers in the end. 24 Hour Fitness needs to do the same thing.

No place to just sit and relax. No cafe style area. There are drinks sold. Offering WiFi is a HUGE controversy at all 24 Hour Fitnesses. They have a scam fee. Initiation fee + monthly fee + yearly scam fee. A $50 additional fee that offers nothing. The entire atmosphere and mindset of 24 Hour Fitness are demoralizing. He told me that he could not help me because it was a different department. So he transfers me and again I’m on hold for another 15 minutes. Horrible customer service! They care more about getting new customers than about helping existing customers.

We had joined this gym when it was first opened on Sutter Street in San Francisco and had been their members since the late 80s. General reviews for those years about the gym were that they were adequate but not your typical top gyms... Believe it was $29/mo, more or less. We were pestered by their staff. We saw often when they expanded the base to Post/Van Ness and were sold a two-year contract for two persons at $677/2 years and then $49 x 2 the third year on for life. Sounds splendid RIGHT. Beware, they did not send statement each year and had been debiting our bank accounts on file on 3rd; fourth; fifth year thereabouts.

Suddenly, they stopped debiting our bank account (bearing in mind that they did not send any billing statements or even reminders to begin with) and that on one visit; we were told the life membership got suspended for non-payment. Our bank card has been active and in good standing and at the least why not a reminder letter to our address we had lived for 30 plus years. They just scammed you with such obvious tricks... When it sounds too good to be true; it usually is so beware of those unprofessional and dirty tricks!!!

In additions; the gym with their International affiliates known as California Gyms had scammed many overseas members with similar scams by selling them life memberships and then filed bankruptcy down the road. Just google and do your homework for those lawsuits. Classic Scammers... Won't do biz with them again and do save yourselves the troubles. To be fair they would be alright on a month to month or short term but NEVER allow them to sell you that BS life memberships which do not stand the test of time. We are ones of those victims worldwide!!!

In May of 2017, I called 24 hour Fitness to cancel mine and my husband's gym memberships because we moved away from an area with any of their gyms. I was told that we had to move 20+ miles away to get out of our contract. We had moved 19 miles away and both worked in the opposite direction of their gyms. They would not allow us to cancel even though it wasn't remotely possible to work out at any of their facilities. We agreed to let our contract pay out monthly until it expired in December 2017. I was instructed to call in November to make sure it canceled before going to a month-to-month membership. Well, I called in November to make sure our accounts were cancelled and found out that our accounts had been placed on hold when I had previously called in May even though I had never requested it.

Also, we had been charged a monthly fee to have our accounts on freeze. Not only had our membership not been continuing so we could cancel it, but we were still being charged just to have our accounts frozen. I spoke to several different representatives and supervisors and none of them cared that a change had been made to our account without our permission. I requested that they go back and listen to the recording of the phone call in May and they said they didn't have the ability to do that and they could only go off the notes from the previous representative (I know that they record all the phone calls and can listen to them if needed so this was a huge lie).

I also later found out from a former 24 Fitness Employee that they are instructed to place people's accounts on freeze when they try to cancel their memberships. They refused to refund the fees incurred from being on the freeze that we never requested and they still would not cancel the membership claiming that we had 7 months left on our contract since we had placed it on a freeze. After being on the phone for over 2 hours, I finally agreed to pay a little over $220 to pay out the contracts and be done with 24 Hour Fitness Forever.

Skip to Jan 2018. My husband was reviewing our bank accounts and noticed that 24 Hour Fitness was still charging us our monthly dues!!! My husband called to figure out what was going on and to get a refund for the Dec/Jan fees that were charged. They said that my membership had been cancelled, but my husband's was still going because I wouldn't have the authority to cancel my husband's membership without his permission! Are you kidding me?! No one had mentioned this in any of the previous conversations and I had specifically requested that both our accounts be cancelled (especially since we were on the same account!).

It was an act of God to get them to cancel my husband's membership (which should have already been cancelled) and refund the 2 month's of dues that should have never been pulled from our account. My husband and I own a successful business and I wouldn't dream of treating our customers and clients so poorly. This was, by far, THE worst experience I've had with any business. I recommend that you never give 24-Hour Fitness your bank account or credit card information because it is nearly impossible to get them to stop taking your money. My husband and I absolutely will not do business with a 24-Hour Fitness for as long as we live.

Now for the service, anytime you call to resolve an issue they are rude, disrespectful, they have kept me on hold for literally 2 hours which I eventually had to let go and call back! They're super rude and act like whatever it is it's not their problem! They have A LOT of "invisible" rules and fees, so be aware! They will scam you with any fee possible! Tuesday November 28, 2017, having just left a physical therapy appointment for an injured shoulder, I adhered to the advice of my therapist and stopped by the 24-Hour Fitness facility located at 4480 E. Charleston, Las Vegas, Nevada. I live three miles from there. I asked for a walkthrough and a man gave me a tour. I explained that I am 63-years old and in a bit over a month on January 01, 2018, I will be on Silver Sneakers and can attend the spa at no cost to me. But, due to my shoulder injury I really need the pool and spa, now. I was shown the pool and hot-tub but through the glass window located in the exercise machine area. It did not occur to me to insist that I go inside the area. From a distance it looked sparse but usable. So I paid for two-months.

On Thursday November 30th I went in for the first time to use the facility. The pool was cool and the water so low that it was hard for me at 5 foot 6 inches, to work my shoulder. I had to crouch down. Finally I decided it may be easier to do figure eights and the other exercises I was attempting to do in the hot tub. The temperature was very nice and I settled in, but the water was not up as high as it should be. If I sat on a seat or step, my arm was out of the water. That was frustrating but while I sat there I was shocked by the amount of yellowed scum foam on the water. I know soap from swimsuits can cause some of that, but not to this degree. Also the tile grout was black with scum and mold. The water flow hole looked like a place a troll may reside. Gross. I got out. I told the desk person that it was too nasty to use and she assured me she'd get someone to clean it ASAP.

I returned two-days later, on Saturday Dec 02, and found the pool cool and dingy. The hot tub was just as bad as before. Also a large man in the pool – his walker blocking the steps – was sitting on the steps in what looked like a black plastic bag? I decided to try the sauna which was pretty full. Then the big man in the bag came into the sauna and he and a woman were talking super-loud. I could not relax and the man was sweating profusely. When he took a rag and sopped up his sweat and then rung it out onto the floor, splattering it all over. I got out.

On my way out I noticed how nasty the concrete floor was too. There's rust everywhere and the showers, plastic chairs and bathrooms are poorly cleaned. Clearly there has been long term deferred maintenance. I went to the desk and said I wanted my money back and was told that I had 3-business days to ask for a refund. I am sure that's in the small print but it was not mentioned when I paid my money.

It was less than 3-days since I visited on Thursday and first complained, but 4-business days since I paid on Tuesday, before I saw the facility close up. I made this point and the young man I talked to told me to come back on Monday and talk to the manager **. I did and she was not there. The lady I talked to Monday could not help me and told me that ** would be there at 10:00 am the next morning, but to call first to be sure. Tuesday morning I called at 10:00 am. ** was in a meeting in Henderson and would be all day. I told the lady on the phone what was going on and all she said was, “Well it is past three days.” I said, “I am really getting angry about this, I paid for something I did not get, because the place is too nasty to use.” She said, “Alrighty then!” I hung up.

I filed a dispute with my bank regarding the money I paid for nothing but aggravation and I am sending this letter to the 24-Hour Fitness Headquarters, the Clark County Health Dept., and I will post it on all 24-hour fitness sites in Las Vegas. Whatever happened to business integrity and the rights of a customer? Not to mention that the spa seems to make a lot of their money on seniors and Silver Sneakers and seniors cannot afford to get infections or get sick from the unsanitary conditions at that facility.

Well I was a member and only went to the gym for 3 months. I wasn't able to go anymore so had to put my account on hold. Then decided to cancel my account because I just wasn't able to go anymore at all. The girl I spoke with said she'd cancel and I would not get charged. That was in August. I only noticed yesterday that they have been charging me still and I called today waited for over half hour. The girl told me she can't find notes that I canceled and so she would cancel my account today but I wouldn't get my money back! I wanted to speak to a supervisor. And the girl said I would only wait up to a min on hold but it ended up being over 10 minutes on hold. When I finally started speaking to a supervisor, she basically called me a liar cuz the account wasn't noted and that she will not refund me my money.

She kept saying my name wrong so I corrected her and after correcting her she would use my name in every sentence. I asked her to stop saying my name in every sentence and she stated that I was not being professional so she put me on hold... when she got back on I asked her how is me asking her to stop using my name in every sentence unprofessional? She said I said other words when I did not. Was on that call for over an hour and they are just rude and say things then reword it because apparently I am too stupid to understand. That supervisor would tell me things that I would say back and she would reword it. Not honest or respectful or loyal to their members or member states that want to cancel. Will never want to return and will tell my friends and family and anyone else that asks how horrible 24 Hour Fitness is!

I have to say this particular gym is just terrible and here is why: Urinals in men restroom are always broken and non functional, urine stays in it for long time causing terrible odor. It's just ridiculous that such simple things cannot be fixed for such a long time by managers of this gym. Equipment is pretty old. Some of machines are non functional and broken. While working in free weight area it's always hard to find right weight for the bar, because there are only few of little weight plates and they are always in use.

When come to the gym it's a real challenge to find available and functional locker box. Most of them are just broken. The gym is extremely overcrowded, most of the time. When the gym is closing at 2 pm on some holidays don't be surprised that you are not allowed to come in at 1 pm. There is a pool in the gym, but it's just disgusting. The water is extremely chlorinated. People prefer to stay away of this pool. Overall this is probably the most terrible gym I have ever seen. I'll be looking for alternatives for sure.

I have been a loyal 24 Hours Fitness member for several years now. I go to the 24 hours fitness at Potrero Center in San Francisco. On 11/09/2017 I went to the gym after work like I always do. I signed in and went in the men's locker's room. As I was undressing a woman came in the men's locker room, I look around to other gym members and everyone seems concerned. I thought it was very unusual, so I dressed myself back up and went to the front desk to report the incident. As I approach the front desk the same lady that was in the men's locker room heard me telling the situation to one of the employees. The employee told that she was allowed to do this because she considered herself a man.

I asked the employee a few more question to try to better understand what was happening. The same lady got really upset and started calling names and insulting me because I was talking to the employee regarding the issue. I did not wanted to argue with her or anyone, so I just went back to the locker room to change and did my workout as usual. After I was finish with my workout, and as I was leaving the gym the Manager approached me to tell me that my membership was going to be cancelled because the same lady complained about me. I think this is very very unfair, because I did not know what was happening or what the situation was or the circumstances, I was only expressing my concerns. I did not insulted anyone. But now they have cancel my membership. Can someone please HELP!

I even paid a security deposit of an extra month payment to cover an extra month in the event I decided to cancel my membership. In addition, the membership requires that you pay for an extra month every March or April for maintenance.

I do like the gym. It is awesome, but upon some financial difficulties I needed to cut back on some of my smaller expenses. One of them was 24 Hour Fitness. I called to cancel and was informed that I could not do so without paying a cancellation fee of $200 per account. I had me and my wife on the account, so that's $400. Whatever happened to the free cancellation that was mentioned to us prior to joining? I was forced into freezing the membership for $10 each until I'm ready to start up the membership again. Like I said, I like this gym so I gave it two stars. I had to take away 3 stars for deceit. Don't believe the hype. If they tell you there will be no cancellation fee - it's a lie.

Every single time I have had to cancel my membership it seems as though these people just WILL NOT cancel your membership! I called in to cancel my membership the final time this last April. The representative offered to freeze my membership, but since I used to work for this horrible company years back I understood that this meant if my account is not cancelled by October they will charge me $40 annual fee.

I told the rep that I do not want to freeze since I can join at any time with no initiation with the company I work for. The rep said fine he would cancel it and I would receive a confirmation email. This was my first mistake, I went about my day as though I just dealt with a large corporation that cares for it's customers and not just it's bottom line. I was clearly wrong! This representative put my account on hold, I am not sure if they are incentivized to do so or just makes them look better, and come October I am charged the annual fee & my membership fees as well. I called thinking a huge corporation like this would clearly have a good business model with their customers, like Amazon, but I was WRONG!

The rep literally told me these charges are completely true and correct per our notes in your account which state that you want to simply freeze the membership for a maximum 6 months. After then speaking with a manager about this I was told that these charges will never be removed since they are correct. I am blown away by how terrible 24 Hour Fitness customer service is. I work for a company where I am in contact with people moving to the city I live in on a DAILY basis. I will now be sharing my story with every single person I meet that moves to this area and be sure that not one of them signs up for 24 Hour Fitness. You can keep my $70 but you just lost out on THOUSANDS!! Clearly I made the right choice when I quit this job years back.

I am a student already starting my university courses, and my experience with 24 Hour Fitness sound like they might just be borderline ILLEGAL. I signed up last month on labor day where I didn't need to go through the $100+ initiation fee because of the promotion they were having, and knowing my friend is working out at 24HF, I thought I could learn a few workout routines from him.

At the time, University courses didn't start until the end of the month for me, so I figured I could learn a few work out routine from my friend working out at 24. So I talked to one of their "Sales Advisor" in which I told him I was new at signing up for a gym membership (big mistake, in which I will go over that detail in a bit), and how I only wanted to work out for the ONE MONTH with my friend before starting university again. He acknowledges I only wanted to work out for one month because we both agreed it was silly when I already have a membership waiting for me coming back to school at uni.

Now knowing I was new at this because I told him, he didn't miss the opportunity to try and squeeze a bit of money out of me (which is understandable) by trying to use fancy terms for his Ultra Deluxe package for $100+ a month, which I told him once again that I was a student, and money was an issue for me, and I just wanted to workout for the one month and be on my way (Later I found the ultra deluxe package full benefit is only accessible in a few states, and not my state at all. So he was having me pay extra with no added benefits of what was in the package, spaw, massages, etc from what I heard).

We then go to the option of wanting me to pay for all club membership access or just the one. I opted for the single membership, since that 24 hour was close to my house, but he apologizes and told me that the system didn't have the one membership for this 24HF in this specific location (In which I questioned in my head, why then would you give me two options when you KNOW your system doesn't run the single membership...). Now, at the time, my friend was there with me as well, and I didn't want him to wait for too long, so I gave him the okay for the all access membership, which totaled $40 a month (which I was fine with as long as it's really $40 for that one month).

And do you know what the ** up part about all this? This Sales Advisor failed to notify me he was going to place me in a one year commitment plan (aka, I have no right to cancel out of it for the ONE YEAR), nor did he tell me about the other option of paying a little extra to cancel at anytime when I specifically told him I only wanted to work out for 1 MONTH. I only found out about that option after I came in to cancel with one of the sales representative telling me they couldn't do anything because I was on that same commitment plan.

So you would expect the SHOCK I was going through when they had told me. My last hope is to come in and meet the General Manager to try and get this sorted out, but my chances are grim I was told. I read the policy on the commitment plan and the only way out of it is to be in military service at the time, or die! Yes, literally ** die! It's that grim. Bottom line is, I feel really trapped right now, and next week I have exams I have to worry about. I wanted to call out that sales adviser who got me into this mess, but coincidentally, he doesn't work there anymore, so ** me, right? To future and present 24HF members, be sure to clearly ask what you're getting yourself into when you sign up. It's a real pain in the ass with all the hidden fees you will get yourself into. Never again.

The only reason this has 2 stars rather than one is because my time in the gym was good. The classes were great and it was a clean and friendly environment. However, when I moved back into college leaving after summer and tried to cancel my membership, they didn't follow through. I acknowledged the standard procedure was going into the store to cancel, and asked if there was any way to cancel over the phone since my home gym was 3 hours away (I asked because if they told me no, another location was a 1 hour drive I was willing to make to ensure my membership was indeed cancelled before being charged another month).

They agreed to let me speak with a manager, who took my phone number down and said he would cancel it the next morning. I took him at his word and thought that was the end. However, the following month I was charged the annual fee, plus my regular monthly charge. Since there was nothing on file from my conversation with the manager, they couldn't refund me the $100. Very disappointed in the way they did not follow through on their word, as I would have driven to the nearest gym to save that money. I was dissatisfied with how 24 Hour Fitness handled my membership cancellations. My wife and I put our memberships on freezes due to expire in Mar 2017. In Sep 2016, I visited our location in Katy TX, and canceled our family memberships and the add-on ones for the children. For some reason only mine and our children's were canceled - there was a charge in Sep 2016, but I disputed it and it was resolved. I just realized - my oversight - that they began charging our credit card again in Mar 2017 for just my wife's membership. Because it is a credit card we don't use frequently, I didn't catch it till 6 months later. I contacted their phone number for cancellations, and they claimed they had no record of the cancellation, even though they can verify there has been no usage for over a year.

They explained they had no reason to doubt me, but because they didn't have documentation of the cancellation, they wouldn't give a refund. I concede I was slow in recognizing the charges, but I also believe we clearly had communicated cancellation - we got no notice that they had begun charging, even though they claim they send notice by email (I looked and couldn't find an email notice, although they send lots of junk advertising). I have formally submitted a complaint at their corporate website. As other reviewers have implied, they are not very customer oriented and resort to citing their membership policies on refunds - i.e. not giving any.

I am very dissatisfied with the leadership corporate has offered their employees & the level of disregard for their clients out of pocket expenses. Membership annual fee of $111.76 as well as maintenance fees of $49.99 each month. I was misled to believe if I canceled before the 30 day trial is over the Membership annual fee of $111.76 would not be cashed (it was cashed) and I would not have to pay monthly fees (I was charged for two months). The Newark location did not have working copying equipment and I was reassured it would be canceled the next day. In which corporate was not informed of cancellation and I was charged for membership annual fee and monthly fees for two months 49.99 x 2 = 99.98. Total amount is $211.74. I would like a refund because 24 Hour Fitness was not authorized to charge is $211.74. I did not think it would happen to me and it did due to poor training from corporate.

Around two weeks ago, I wrote you a letter regarding my concerns about the intensity of the music at the Third Street Chula Vista, CA club. The music was again to a bearable standard. It only lasted for a while. Last Friday when I arrived, the music was again very loud. I told the employee to please lower it, and he responded that they did not have any way to regulate the intensity of the music, because the controls were at the Manager’s office. The noise is unbearable in the locker room and showers, since the ceilings are lower. It is very uncomfortable. I tried to send another letter to their site. The site does not work. I called, the wait is 20 minutes! I have been a member of 24 HOUR FITNESS since 2002. This is the first club where I have experienced so many problems, from hygiene, noise and respect to members from the management.

In other gyms, I tend to get some stares for my beautiful skin and large size and the last gym I went to made me buy two memberships and this gym didn't so I really liked that. Also, I really like 24 Hour Fitness because it's close to my house and it’s open twenty four hours. No Bowflex but I'm in talks with management about loaning them my personal machine. I'd like it also if they had a better sauna and whirlpool and regular pool as well as more private showers. I was showering one time and this lady grabbed my shampoo and used it and I was like, “WTF. Why did you do that?” She said she thought it was communal shampoo that the gym provided even though she reached her snaky arm into my shower to get it. Like hello, I have it on tape.

Also, I liked the hours that the facility was open. It gave me the option to go before work. I like how large the space was. They had a large variety of machines enough that you never had the wait to use something. The place also always seemed very clean. But the thing I most disliked about this gym was how pushy they were about their personal training. They try to get you to sign up for a free session when you join and they won't take no for an answer.

The extended hours are a huge benefit due to my inconsistent work schedule. Also the location was in my home town and provided an option for a gym other than a YMCA. Being a franchise gym there were more options and better quality of equipment as well. The franchise I went to was smaller than what I like and didn't have enough classes I liked. For example, as a former dancer I enjoy the classes based on barre exercises and would like those classes to be available as well. But there was enough of a variety of equipment and ways to work out that I found appealing. It had also offered a free trial period that was nice as I got to test and see if this gym was there right fit for me.

The modern up to date equipment and services are top notch, is fairly priced, clean and maintained well. They said it would be open 24/7 and sure enough it was never closed. But yet they did a great job of getting it cleaned and staying out of the way of the people that were working out.

Also, bathrooms could be more spacious, room for woman when they workout and the machines are a little close together for my taste. But it's closer to my home. Don't feel like driving any further when it's convenient. It's that or workout at home then I would have to buy workout equipment and that expensive so that's why I stick with the gym easy. Sometimes I get out at three or four in the morning and I'm just not tired enough to go home and go right to sleep so I'll go for a workout and then by the time I get home and shower I'm all ready to get right in bed. With this gym, I can choose to go when it's convenient for me! Also, because the gym is always opened, it's not constantly crowded because people don't have the pressure of going at crammed in scheduled times. There's also no pressure for a rushed workout which is huge!! I can work at my own pace without racing against the clock!!!

Tanning booths are extremely important to me and I don't like having to wait forever because there's only one available for the entire gym! I feel like a gym opened 24 hours should have multiple tanning booths so it's not an inconvenience for the customers. Sometimes I'd have to just not go tanning as much as I wanted to because I wasn't coming back again just to use the tanning booth after my workout time was completed. If I'm paying for this service, It shouldn't have to become a habit for me to either wait to start working out, wait after my workout, or just have to leave and not tan because I can't wait for the list of people signed up before me considering there's only one booth available.

Cancellation Nightmare! Stay Away! I joined 24 Hour Fitness in Temecula a little over a year ago. My commute was 1+ hours each way and this was the only big gym in Temecula. I chose a month to month plan since places like these are so difficult to cancel. Starting late last year, I was able to work from home and didn't need to use 24 Hour as much. In January I asked the people at the club to cancel my membership and was told everything was good to go. In June I got a call saying I was past due $45-$50 on the account and had to pay. I called back in and spoke with someone and explained I cancelled in person. They said they called the club and "had no records" of this happening. I asked to cancel the membership, but had to pay a past due amount and a penalty fee, the latter which was waived.

Fast forward to today, I receive a call saying I owe them $110! I call back in, and after 30+ minutes on hold was told that "the rep wasn't legally able to finish the cancellation since the call disconnected." I said this was a lie, they collected $34.99 from me to cancel, and to pull the call. After escalating to management, they finally pulled the call. "After reviewing the call and verifying the cancellation was complete, you ended the call, so they weren't able to finish it." So... the cancellation was verified but they did not submit it. They wanted to charge me for June and July dues, plus the July annual fee! They were so very, very nice in offering to waive $30 in fees, so they ended up defrauding me of another $75. I will never, ever again work with such a shady business that offers zero way to cancel online, offers zero way to cancel in person, makes it exceedingly difficult to even contact a human, then lie about the cancellations.

Responds to feedback well. Love the staff. Have made a lot of friends here. But there's not enough amenities. I would like cleaner bathrooms and facilities, and more instructors and classes. I also would like to see yoga and kickboxing aerobic classes available at low cost. Would love to have a pool if possible and more aquatic activities. They need more lighting in certain area and some machines a bit older than others. But it has met my expectations based on price and location.

The gym was always pretty clean and the showers themselves were clean as well. I'm picky about how things smell so they should have had a better air system in the building to filter the air or some industrial air fresheners. Also, there was always this group of guys who were loud and obnoxious. They seemed to be there anytime I went and it made it a little uncomfortable. I'm about 30lbs overweight and I'm a little self conscious. They would all group together and check out the women exercising and give me little smirks. They always made absolutely sure to grunt as loud as they possibly could when lifting weights... even if I could lift the same amount of weights myself without grunting even a little.

But it was closer to home and had really convenient hours of operations. These were the main reasons for me going to this gym. There aren't a lot of gyms in the area where we live so my options were limited. I work odd hours because I'm On-Call so I'm working at all hours of the day and it was open 24hrs which allowed me to go after work.

Facility is huge and up to date with all new features and needs to have a better work out. The employees are friendly. Walking in and checking in is simple, no hassles. Pool's a decent size and is nice and clean. Hottub is great too. Also there are no children like at the YMCA. The locker room is spotless, showers are welcoming towels are always available which is nice if you've forgotten yours.

But even though they say 24 Hour Fitness they are not 24 hours. As a nurse it's nice have a real 24 hour, seven days a week. Also a lot of people, at times I have to wait until or for a machine to open up. They also need to have people clean the equipment better. But overall like it and will keep membership. Planet Fitness is out of date and Gold's is for the meatheads and stuck up people. 24 Hour Fitness is within a mile of my house and can run to it. Price is decent compared to Gold's too.

There was a sign-up bonus discount for a one-year 24 Hour Fitness membership through my employer that I worked for. It was such a great deal that I couldn't pass it up. I like that there was a very large variety of equipment that was available for my use. I like the fact that I can sweat and cleanse my pores in the sauna and then do laps in the swimming pool before I go home. But the gym is always crowded. I don't like when there's a lot of people because then you have to wait for the workout machines to become available. So, you're standing around wasting time. You have to know when the best time to go is and stick to that time. Other than that, I really enjoyed 24 Hour Fitness.

It is very great clean workout place. Have somewhere to go in middle of night when I cannot sleep and just need a walk on machine. Love the hours most of all. Staff is great and very helpful. Large inside and plenty of equipment to workout with. Love it at the mall here. Sit and talk to friends after workout. Also, I can have the quiet time I have to myself if I choose to go very late at night. Plenty of good lights in the mall lot. Sweet staff to walk me to my car if I need it. However, I miss swimming in a pool and there are no aerobic classes. No place to leave my grandkids while I workout so I can take them elsewhere after I work out. They liked playing in child's room.
