What is Ro?

Ro is a telehealth company that sees itself as holistic, offering services for a wide range of health care needs, including weight loss, fertility, dermatology and sexual health. Ro connects users with licensed health care providers to deliver treatments that are customized to individual needs.

For weight loss, the company specializes in using GLP-1 medications, providing continuous care and support through virtual consultations. Ro’s services are designed to be convenient and accessible, with the added benefit of an insurance concierge to help manage the cost of medications.

How does Ro work?

Ro's Body Program is the monthly membership system used for weight loss. It starts with an initial consultation, where users connect with a licensed health care provider through Ro’s digital platform.

Based on medical history and health goals, the provider prescribes a personalized treatment plan, often involving a GLP-1 medication, like Ozempic or Wegovy (brand-name or compounded versions).

Users receive ongoing care via monthly virtual consultations and have continuous access to their provider through the platform. Prescriptions are filled through partner pharmacies, and Ro’s insurance concierge assists with medication costs. Membership is subscription-based, and users can cancel at any time by contacting customer support.

Ro weight loss medications

Ro offers several weight loss medications through its Body Program, each of which can be added to your plan, depending on qualifications and individual needs. These medications are brand-name and compounded GLP-1 medications, which act by mimicking hormones that enhance insulin secretion, slow digestion and reduce appetite.

This combination helps to regulate blood sugar levels and supports weight loss by promoting a feeling of fullness, making it easier to adhere to a reduced-calorie diet. Note that compounded medications are not formally approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Medications include:

  • Ozempic: A medication that helps regulate blood sugar and reduce appetite
  • Wegovy: Specifically approved for chronic weight management and aids in reducing hunger and calorie intake
  • Zepbound: Used to assist in weight management by impacting appetite and digestion

Ro cost

The cost to join Ro's body plan comes in stages. Here’s a breakdown of how that cost occurs:

  1. $99 initial screen: Before you can start the program, you must have an initial consultation.
  2. $145 recurring membership (plan only): The Body Program costs $145 per month for treatment and support. Medications are not included.
  3. From $299 to $1,000-plus medication cost: This is added to your monthly bill and can vary depending on the prescription.

To calculate your total out-of-pocket cost, add your medication to your monthly bill for the body program to get an estimate. While Ro does accept insurance for certain prescribed medications, it generally does not accept insurance for the Body Program itself.

Ro accepts insurance for certain medications prescribed through its Body Program, including GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy. The company offers an insurance concierge service to help users navigate and manage their insurance coverage for these prescriptions. However, the monthly membership fee for the Body Program itself is not typically covered by insurance.

Is Ro legit?

Yes, Ro is a legitimate company. Ro has been serving customers since 2017 and reports to have helped millions of customers through its telehealth platform, providing a range of health care services, including the Body Program for weight loss.

Ro also works with licensed health care specialists to ensure that treatments are safe and effective. Ro is known for its transparency, quality of care and commitment to delivering personalized health care solutions efficiently and securely.

Rip off... You pay the membership but they never explain how costly the drugs are going to be until you get to the end. You try to cancel the initial membership at that point and you find out it is non refundable. I see a class action lawsuit in the future. It is a flat out money grab. YouTube will give you all the info you need. Get a prescription from your doctor and go to Costco, Walmart or Amazon.

Scammers! Do NOT trust this company. You have to put in all your payment information before finding out medication type and cost. They automatically enroll you in a subscription. I wasn’t interested in any GLP1 that had to offer and canceled within minutes. Guess what? You still get charged! Don’t do it! They are making a lot of money without having to send out any meds! My doctor said GLP1 online is all SALINE! It’s not real! CC company said I can’t dispute because it was a subscription…🤬🤬🤬

I filled out the online application. I was charged the $5 but I couldn’t log into my account. I keep receiving errors that my email isn’t registered with them. I submitted my email to the only email they have and it took two and a half days for them to reply and ask for more information. During that wait time, they charged me for the medication $149.00. I replied back with no answer and going on 4 days with no reply. I could have resolved this with 1 phone call in about 5 mins. Customer service is extremely poor!

After seeing several advertisements for RO and the lost cost GLP1 pill for weight loss, I went online to sign up for it. I know of several people who took it and reached their weight loss goal. Finding out my employer medical insurance didn't cover the cost of the medication I was desperate to find a low affordable cost alternative, so when I saw that RO offered it for as low as $49 per month, I fell for the false advertisement and signed up online. I was charged. The $49 Was the online consultation fee and then offered the medication for an additional cost of $199.00. I did not buy it due to the misleading advertisement.

I choose the Wegovy pill since it is the cheapest at $149 plus the monthly membership fee. They did not explain that the first few doses of 1.5 and 4 mg really don’t do anything to your appetite but is required to reduce side effects. Once you move up to the higher doses (9 mg & 25mg) the prices go up to $199 and $299. This was not revealed until the new dose was prescribed.

The company does not tell you out right that you will have to get to the higher dose for the medication to work its best. So you pay a lot for medication and have to be on it for months. The main complaint I have is they don't tell you about the Ro membership that cost an extra $150 a month. This is for “Dr consult etc” which is brief at best. You can be any weight and get the medication. Felt like it was a money grab.

Buyer beware! Horribly misleading. The website makes it seem like you pay $45 upfront then $145/mo for GLP1 weightloss program. You have to pay $45 to find out the monthly fee of $145 DOES NOT INCLUDE medication. With medication, the costs are $500+. The $45 is non-refundable so the co is raking in the initial fees.

Ro is an absolute ripoff disguised as a wellness service. They lure you in with misleading promises, only to reveal the true costs after locking you into a $145 recurring membership that doesn’t even cover medication. It’s a bait-and-switch operation at its finest. You have to pay a $45 “membership fee” just to see pricing, then brace yourself for sticker shock — $299 per month for a tiny 2.5 mg vial or $399 for 5 mg, depending on the brand. Pen options start at $499, and if you actually decide to purchase, they tack on another $100 a month to your so-called membership. The end result? A confusing, inflated structure that feels deliberately deceptive and designed to squeeze every dime out of you. Total scam — avoid at all costs.

MISLEADING advertising! They play on people's desire for a healthier life and then hit you with RIDICULOUS membership fee. I pride myself in looking for the 'catch' & details, but missed this and within 5 weeks, LOST hundreds of dollars and no benefit from meds. The monthly fee costs more than the meds! I'm a teacher supporting my family, and this loss of money has created a hardship and left me without help for my health.

The payment plan is very unclear, and I believe they intentional obscure how much the cost will be after the initial month. After the first month you have to pay a membership fee of $145 every month. This doesn't apply to the medication cost at all. Meanwhile, there is very limited interaction with a "doctor". I don't feel confident that this is good and safe medical advice.

However, I ordered medicine before I realized this. I received a package with my medicine, but I didn't open it until the next day. Then I found that apparently the medication needs to be refrigerated and there had been an ice pack that was now just water. There has been no indication when ordering this or on the outside of the box that it needed to be refrigerated. This appears to be a major oversight.
