Bought new Tempur-Pedic Queen about 10 years ago but only used it a couple years and moved it to the guest room. Now one side is all broken down and rolled over to the edge. Called the company and they asked for the model number but there is NO model number anywhere on it. They asked if I had a receipt, and NO it is nowhere to be found. They said sorry, nothing we can do. If I had known this would happen I would have put the receipt inside the mattress cover. Grrrrrrrrrrr I am pissed. It is not my fault there is no model number or tag on it.

My wife and I purchased a Tempur-Pedic mattress about 5 years ago. We were ready to put the $3,000 plus mattress out to the curb when a Sleepy's salesman told us what language to use when speaking with Tempur-Pedic reps. The mattress gave us no support. We both woke with backaches every am. They gave us 7 mattresses to choose as a replacement understanding that this would be the last replacement. We picked the firmest of the 7 choices. We are still waking with severe backaches as the mattress softens over night. I don't know how anyone lives with these mattresses.

My husband heard about the Tempur-pedic so he wanted to go check them out. Our spring mattress was giving me major side and hip problems and he was hurting too. When we went to the store it felt real comfy so we bought it... I have hated it ever since. It doesn't conform to your body at all... it's like sleeping on the floor. It was supposed to be the most comfortable bed around but it isn't!!! I have 2 thick quilts that I put on my side of the bed to lay on just to make it comfy... AND the pillows that we got free with the bed-- crappy and don't move either.. WE CAN'T EVEN USE THEM... WE PAID ALMOST $6,000 FOR THIS AND IT'S THE WORST DECISION WE HAVE EVER MADE!!! I HATE TEMPUR-PEDIC!!!!

The problem with the mattress is that it claps out; a term known for ski boots after a few years of wearing them. The foam compresses over time and causes a hammock type effect. The area where you sleep becomes overly soft and hard to move in your sleep. I actually threw my back out while shifting in bed. They replaced the mattress once. To their credit, but it is an inferior product and I will not buy another one when I replace it this year (after 2 years!). I would not recommend this product.

I filed a warranty after our Ca King Cloud Supreme collapsed. They approved the claim and stated I could expect my replacement 5 to 7 days after my credit card was charged for the upgrade since I did not want to take a chance on the same mattress. They charged my card and never delivered. Each time I call it is a different story. 2nd call they changed story to 7 to 14 days from charge. 3rd call, the story was it shipped on January 19th and it would be 7 to 15 business days from the 19th which was February 6th. I called on the 6th and they said they would return my call.
They never do as I called 3 additional times between the last four calls and would never receive a call. I reached someone again today. The story now is it never shipped and my replacement bed is on back order and they have no idea when it will be available for shipment but they would send us a free pillow. That's what $4,457.66 plus $1,400.00 to upgrade gets you with Tempurpedic. In the meantime we are sleeping on a collapsed mattress and have to get chiropractic and massage therapy several times a month to control the pain of sleeping on This worthless mattress.

I slept on the mattress for seven years. Year two I starting having bad headache and lower back problems. My partner starting having back problems and neck ache. I had to visit my family out of town and stayed for a week. My backache and headache were gone. I slept in my guest room bed when I returned because my partner was sick with the flu. My headache and backache did not return until I slept back on the Tempur-Pedic mattress.

We purchased a Tempur-Pedic mattress because when we visited friends, they had one and it was the most comfortable night's sleep we'd had in a while. Unfortunately, the comfort level of that guest room bed didn't carry over to the mattress that we purchased for ourselves. This is the hardest mattress we've ever owned and I wake up every single morning with my back in knots. It is very uncomfortable, way too uncomfortable for the $4,000 price tag. The mattress also seems to hold heat. I am very cold-natured, but I wake up in the middle of the night because it is so hot. If you are in the market for a mattress, my advice would be to buy something else. Tempur-Pedic is definitely not worth the money.

This is our second Tempur-Pedic. The one we bought 10 years ago is great, the remote works fine, and the frame doesn't squeak. Our new one is junk. More often than not, the remote doesn't work. We have to take the batteries out and put them back in to get it to work again. $100.00 for a replacement is a ripoff. The bed frame didn't last a year, and the remote control didn't last much longer. The frame was replaced, but the replacement squeaks, too. Very disappointing!

Started with the Rhapsody Breeze. It was hard as a rock. Using my "comfort guarantee" from Sleepy's, I paid a lot more and bought the Allura Cloud. Well, it's softer, but I have pains everywhere. And after the first month, wake up (when I sleep), still as a board, with pains that I've never had before. I truly think these mattresses are a lot of hype and not very good. If this pain continues for another week or so, I'll exercise my final "comfort guarantee", and get rid of this mistake of a mattress for a normal one. Somehow, I have a feeling that's how it's going to go. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Today I got my new mattress delivered. I had a Tempurpedic Cloud Supreme king mattress. After only 3 years, it lost support and my back was hurting every morning. I called the company customer service number and they sent me an email with the directions of how to claim (they email attachment of detailed explanation and pictures of how to take photos of mattress). If you just follow email direction, it is not hard at all. Within 5 days, I got email saying that they will replace it with a new mattress.
I chose Tempurpedic Contour Supreme. They delivered the mattress within 2 weeks. First of all, Tempurpedic Cloud Supreme is not going to last for 10-20 years like I thought when I purchased it. It is soft kind of mattress so it lost support after only a year and half. I've read so many complaints so I thought I might have to live with $3,500 useless mattress but I've read one person's review saying that he got a new replacement mattress of his choice from Tempurpedic company. So if you have a problem with your mattress, don't give up.
Call the customer service and file a claim. Within few weeks, you will get a new mattress. I am so glad that I have read that one review of success replacement story. I chose Tempurpedic Contour Supreme because this is a firm mattress and I figured the firm mattress might last longer than soft mattress.

I purchased the mattress from a store that went out to business so I am stuck with it. It is just too hard. I am looking for a foam, feather mattress pad to cover it. I sleep in hotels, frequently and hate to leave the Sheraton sweet sleeper bed and then come home to my hard, uncomfortable bed that I spent a fortune on . I would love to know a quality soft mattress pad to make the bed more comfortable. That would be great.

Our upscale Tempur-Pedic is a huge disappointment. It's less then 3 years old and has a pretty deep indenture where we sleep on each side. I weigh 130 lbs and my husband who is a 6 ft 2" and 190 both have these soft spots. I had a serious back surgery so went to the store to gain expert advice on what to buy and this mattress was recommended. I should not have pain from laying in bed while sleeping but I do every single night. I'm not sure what I can get next but it won't be another one of these.

I spent a lot of money on this mattress and will be paying it off for another 2 years! I've had it for 6 months and I wake up every day in pain. I have scoliosis and was told by dream beds this mattress would help and it would ease pain, especially from pressure points. Since having this mattress, the pain has been much worse. I find it difficult to roll over and it gets really hot! I weigh less than 9 stone but this hasn't stopped the part of the mattress I Sleep on from softening, meaning I sink and this adds to the pain. I hate this bed and wish I never bought it. I would warn everyone from buying this mattress.

Our previous mattress had been sagging, causing back pain. One of the reasons we chose Tempur-Pedic was the 25-year warranty and the 3/4-inch-sagging clause of the warranty. Most other mattress warranties are for less than 25 years and require the mattress to sag 1 1/2 inches before a claim can be filed. We took advantage of the 48 month 0% offer and here we are 18 months in, I am experiencing back problems again. I measured the "sag" and it is slightly less than 3/4 of an inch. However - I applied a 25 pound weight to the saggy area (where I primarily lay) and another 25 pound plate in the middle of the bed (between me and my wife). The sag measures at more than 3 inches when weight is applied. In other words, the support system is gone beneath it. However, when weight is not applied, it appears to be fine. This is the "gotcha". Tempur-Pedic says that it must be VISIBLE with "no weight" applied to claim a warranty. To me that's like saying the auto manufacturer won't repair the car because it "appears" to be fine but the problem occurs while you are actually driving it.
Shortly after purchase, Tempur-Pedic changed its warranty to be for 10 years instead of 25. Why do you suppose that happened? The real problem is that if Tempur-Pedic WERE to honor the warranty, it would provide a replacement not cash back. To me, that is useless as I'm sure that the next one would do the same thing and I would incur more costs with transport etc. We are going to chalk it up as a "bad investment" and move on. My wife and I also own a condo in the South. We purchased a "Heavenly Bed Mattress" from Pottery Barn. Although not cheap, it was less money than the Tempur-Pedic and I would highly recommend considering that one. It supposedly is a mattress used in "commercial hotel resort settings" such as the Westin, etc. If that is the case, I bet it holds up.

I decided to buy a Tempur-Pedic number one, because of all the commercials showing how the bed molds to your body. Number 2, I had spoken to a lot of people who just love this mattress. I like a very soft mattress, and thought after testing all of them at the store that I was getting one of the softest ones. I spent $2,800 on a Queen set. In the store, the bed felt great! Well, laying on something for 10 minutes is a lot different then sleeping on it all night! The bed is like a brick! I wake up every morning feeling like a truck has run over me. Parts of my body hurt that I did not know could hurt so bad! And HOT! This bed, unless your house is freezing, keeps the heat in. I am absolutely miserable in the mornings and exhausted from the horrible nights sleep from the heat and the brick. I would probably sleep better on my wood floor! I have had this set for over a year so should have been broke in a long time ago! What is funny, is the mattress set I had before this one, I only spent a few hundred dollars on. I needed a mattress set quick, called a company online, told the sales guy, "I want the softest, cheapest queen set you have." I did not even go to the store. Told him, "If it seems soft to you, send it!" My son has that set now and he loves it!!
The only drawback to the cheap one is being inner spring, it kinda of squeaks when you roll over. But $250 for over 5 years of use, not too bad! VS $2,800 and ready to send this set to the landfill after 1.5 yrs!! I am now looking for another CHEAP mattress set. I told my son he was going to get the Tempur-Pedic and he does not want it! So, can't even give it away!! Never again!

We've had our Tempur-Pedic mattress with foundation (to assure warranty...lol) for almost 4 years. If I were rating just the mattress, it would be a good rating. The mattress has been sagging in spots so we were getting ready to do a warranty claim when my wife noticed wooden slats protruding from under the foundation in those same places. Our bed frame has twice the required support. We called the store we purchased it from and after two days they called back with the 800 number and were a little rude with my wife. Lesson 1 is don't bother buying from a brick and mortar store, even if you do all your business with them. We will buy elsewhere from now on. So much for buy local.
We called the provided 800 number and were told it would be 5 to 7 days before a claims adjuster would even look at the claim. Then, after his review (no time frame given) they would contact "someone" local to deliver the new foundation 7 to 14 days after, IF APPROVED! So.....two days to get an 800 number from the store we bought it from (and a lecture on how their stock wouldn't be used for warranty on something that old!), another week for the company to look at the claim, a review period, another 7 to 14 days to get a replacement.
All told it looks like we either sleep in the land of creaks and pits for another month or get another foundation. Interestingly, IKEA has a foundation with a 25 year warranty. It can't be built any worse than this one so we are driving there to drop another $200 on another foundation today. Do we care if it voids our mattress warranty? What mattress warranty? I will dissect the old foundation to reveal all of its deficiencies.

I spent more than $3k for Tempur-Pedicure mattress for my parent when they came to visit me 5 years ago. They didn't like it so my husband and I slept on it. After several months, I start having shoulder pain. I am very healthy and fit and never had any back pain or shoulder pain. After I changed to sleep on my old 400 mattress, my shoulder pain disappeared. However, my husband is OK with the bed. Maybe because he sleeps on his back while I sleep on my sides. Still, this is the most expensive and worse mattress I ever bought.

Wow, I wish all these reviews would have been available when I purchased my mattress. All I can say is it was a huge and expensive mistake. Unfortunately, by the time I realized this bed made me wake up so stinking sore, it was past the warranty and could not be returned. Don't be confused by the one-star rating I gave. It really deserves a no-star but you had to put something! Hindsight truly is 20/20! I have terrible neck, shoulder, and back soreness that just won't let up. Of course, I spent way too much money to give it away so guess I'm stuck with it for a while.

We just got our replacement mattress of the Prima cloud. Our classic mattress sunk on one side and had a dip in it so it was still under warranty and we replaced it with this cloud prima mattress. After the moving company opened it and put it on our frame it had the most horrible chemical smell. It has been 3 days now and me and my husband have not slept well. We've had sore throats and a raw feeling in the back of our throats and its only when we are in our room so it is from this mattress! We have had bad dreams and cannot sleep well from this horrible chemical smell. We only have flu like symptoms when in our room. I wonder if this is bad for our health? I really hope not. Praying it’s not harming our health. I remember when we bought our classic bed 4 years ago it smelled a little but not this bad and not for long. This is ** that people have to deal with this smell and harmful chemicals. I hope they recall all these mattresses so we can get our $4000 back! What a shame. I purchased a queen size Tempur-pedic Rhapsody ($3200) bed in May 2012. I had been suffering from a sore back for years and when it was time to replace my mattress, I went all out. I stayed away from the traditional spring mattresses, since that was all I had ever slept on and knew they were not helping my back. I went to the store several times and tried out the Tempur-pedic mattresses, almost falling asleep once! I was convinced this would be a great mattress for me. (I chose a mattress that was more firm than soft). I was so excited to get my mattress home but my back pain never went away. I should state that I am in relatively good shape, not overweight, and had massages on a regular basis. I stopped riding horses because it only made the pain worse. I should also mention that I slept like a rock, so I never suspected my bed was exacerbating the issue. I purchased a new home and was sleeping on an Aerobed ($100 air mattress) all summer. (I moved in slowly and the Tempur-pedic was too heavy for me to move on my own). My back pain was completely gone after a week! And that was with me moving boxes, putting a fence, scrubbing floors, etc.
In September, I finally had my bed moved in and was so excited to stop sleeping on the floor. Almost immediately, my back pain came back! I now wake up sore and stiff, with pain that never goes away. I tested it by sleeping on the air mattress for a few days and the pain went away! I contacted the store where I bought the mattress who informed me to contact Tempur-pedic directly. I did and they said I could submit a claim to them. If they find that the mattress is defective, they would replace it with the same one. So here are the issues: You have to strip everything off the mattress - including the zipped on cover - to submit the photos they need. The mattress is super heavy and with an already sore back, it’s a difficult job for me to do alone. And even if they determine my mattress is not good, I don't want another Tempur-pedic. But I'll still submit the claim and if they agree to send me a new mattress, I'll see if they will send me the firmest one they have (even though the woman I spoke to said they would replace it with the exact same thing). I did recently add a mattress pad to my bed - they tell you not to use one because it negates the "memory" foam properties - and that seemed to help a bit.
At least I don't get stuck in one place anymore. (My chiropractor said he doesn't like the idea that you don't move at all - he thinks you should be able to move around while you're sleeping). And if I can get them to replace the mattress, I will look into buying a non-memory foam topper, covered with a mattress pad and hopefully wake up pain-free! Friends have recommended looking into a latex mattress, which is a foam mattress, but not the memory foam that you sink into. I'm going to look into that or maybe the Sleep Number (air) beds. I just want to wake up without feeling like a pretzel! I would really re-consider buying one of these mattresses.

I see lots of complaints, but have to say this mattress is the best I have slept on, I do agree it is not for everyone though. My wife and I are both in our late 30s and fit, not sure if this makes a difference but a lot of the complaints seem to be from older injured people (not sure if there is a correlation). I hurt my back in 2009 lifting weights and found that my back never really recovered on our old mattress. Since we got the tempurpedic, my back feels good and gets better everyday. The wife is pregnant as well and loves the way the bed molds to your body. The gassing is not a big deal, it goes away in a month. I have noticed the bed is a little warmer than a spring bed but, we live up north so not a big deal as the winters are cold. I cut a piece of plywood as the under surface for the bed and ventilated it by drilling holes, so no issues with moisture or mold (I have no idea why people are getting mold on their mattress??). Anyways try it out in the store before you buy, it is definitely different, but I like it.

My husband and I are in our 60s and thought that we would treat ourselves to a new Tempur-Pedic bed. We purchased a Tempur-Pedic Cloud Luxe on January 2014. We tried to get used to the bed but after about 3 weeks, we returned to the store to complain about the intolerable softness of the bed. The salesperson convinced us to give it awhile because he said it would take a while to get used to the bed. No complaint against the salesperson as he was very nice. So we gave it our best shot, but after 4 months, we just couldn't take it anymore. The bed was intolerably soft. We returned the bed in May 2014 to the store and traded down (1,500 loss) to the Tempur-Pedic Supreme. In about 4 months, this bed also became very soft. It feels like it is sagging. It feels like my legs and hips are sagging into the bed. It does not provide enough support. I am having back problems which I think is from this soft mattress.
We are stuck because Tempur-Pedic does not allow for anymore exchanges. I feel that Tempur-Pedic needs to change their exchange policy to allow for more than one exchange. It is very difficult to tell what the bed will feel like until you have actually slept on them. Tempur-Pedic has a very different feel from other beds. I feel Tempur-Pedic needs to be more lenient on their return/exchange policies. This would prevent unhappy customers like me from writing a bad review. We feel we made a $5,000 mistake. We feel like we are stuck with a bad bed that cost a lot of money. I am sure there are many complaints about the sagging of the Tempur-Pedic Luxe and Supreme beds. Wish we would have bought the Tempur-Pedic Rhapsody as our friend has this one and said it is a firm bed that has not sagged. There is just no way to know how these Tempur-Pedic beds are going to until you sleep on them. We want to exchange this one for a Rhapsody. Can you help? Thank you.

It was OK at first, but over the last 2 months it caused serious back and shoulder problems that forced me to seek physical therapy. Tempurpedic has a 100 day exchange policy, but their bed did not begin causing problems until just beyond this period. I asked if they would at least offer a discount on a firmer mattress and they refused. Knowing I had already contributed several thousand dollars to their bottom line not long ago made this response that much more infuriating. I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews before making this purchase. Don't be seduced by what initially might seem to be a comfortable choice in the showroom. We bought a Tempur-Pedic two years ago. At first I thought the bed was great. After about a year I began to develop problems. I have had a herniated disc in my neck for years but sleeping on this bed seemed to make the pain worse. Then after 18 months or so of sleeping on the bed I started having tingling and numbness in my right arm, then gradually it started in my leg too. I suspected maybe it was from sleeping on my side, so I started sleeping on my left side, which completely messed up my shoulder. I was scared, went to several neurologist and a spine doctor, only to find out I was very very healthy! Then I started to develop horrible back pain, so I started sleeping on our old mattress and noticed I would wake up less frequently and not with so much pain. Finally I broke down and bought a new coil mattress, where I now sleep every night, instead of my $4000 Tempur-Pedic where my husband still sleeps. After a few weeks back pain and shoulder pain are completely gone, neck is back to normal, tingling and numbness is almost completely gone.

Unfortunately, the company has 'innovated' and 'improved' the mattresses and they really are awful now. We bought the Tempur Cloud mattress and it seemed fine at first. We tested them for hours in the store for several days before buying. We were thrilled with our purchase until about 6 months later when we noticed it sagging where we were laying on it. In the center it was still nice and balanced. The Tempur-Pedic site says they can soften over time, but this is excessive. It is like sleeping in a sinkhole - a real pit. Now our backs hurt. Lying on your stomach leads to having swayback in the bed. Why could they not just leave them the way they were originally? Now they are just awful. And you are stuck with them after 90 days.

My wife and I paid $2800 roughly, for a tempurpedic Cloud Select I believe the name was. After about a year we began to notice that the spots on the bed where we lay are recessed, Kind of like sleeping in a dip. We contacted them, sent in the required pics and they sent us a new mattress. A few months later we were experiencing the same problem so I decided to look at the foundation which I discovered was broken. It was made from cheap particle board and put together with staples. We asked for a new foundation and they sent some guys out to install it. They informed us that the original foundation was installed wrong. They drilled holes into my bed frame when they installed it to screw in the slats.
A few short months later the new foundation was broken again. They sent guys out again who once again also explained that the guys before installed it wrong. Obviously a standard answer. After about another year and a half the same dips were back in the same spots on the mattress. We are now in the process of getting it replaced again. I travel a lot and when I stay at a hotel I awaken with little or no back pain or hip pain but when sleeping at home I feel like I've been beaten with a stick during the night. I wake up three to four times a night and so does my wife because of this poor quality product. It's obvious that it's a ploy to rip off consumers because the product has too much bad review to be worth what it costs or anything for that matter.

We bought a Tempur-pedic bed back in 2009. Slowly the bed has started to sag on one side. We are not large people and for the amount of money we spent on this bed, we think it would hold up better. We have contacted the warranty department and have sent them all the receipts and pictures requested. They want a picture that is impossible to take. They want one that has the full bed. Then they want you to put a straight edge (broom) with a quarter under it showing the sag. You can't take a full sized picture and show quarter close enough to show gap. This is their way of getting out of honoring their 25 years warranty. Yes 25 years when we bought it. Now 10 years. I wonder why. Obviously this is a scam to sell beds by not honoring warranty. I would think they would want to keep a happy customer. Obviously from the posts on this site there is a lot of performance issues and many unhappy customers.

After my husband and I got married I "convinced" him to get a Tempur-Pedic mattress. This was 12/2008. We were so happy because we thought this would be our mattress for the rest of our lives. So after spending roughly $5,000 we are MISERABLE!!!!! FIRST thing that is wrong is our mattress is NOISY! When we get into bed it CREAKS! If we shift position during our sleep the creak from the box spring will wake one of us up!!! We flipped off the top mattress to look at the box spring and it's nothing but cardboard!!! We are NOT heavy people but there is no way that this cardboard can handle body weight! And the smell coming from the box spring was a terrible chemical smell. I suffer from severe back pain due to this bed and my husband is always complaining of being too hot while asleep. I hate Tempur-Pedic and I wish we NEVER bought it. We could have taken the 5 grand and bought 6 new Sealy mattresses!

Unfortunately, this was 08/26/11 so there is nothing that can be done.

Bought a Tempur-Pedic Cloud Supreme mattress to replace a regular mattress. Spent over 4x what the previous mattress cost but figured it was worth it. The mattress 'out gassing' process wasn't terribly harsh and lasted only two days (we slept in another room). It's a nice mattress for the first year to eighteen months, then it develops soft spots, ruts and it's damn near impossible to get a decent night of sleep. We initially suspected our pillows, so we went out and bought new pillows, which seemed to help but only wound up masking the greater issue.
The mattress is now three or four years old and we're searching for a non-TempurPedic replacement. It's impossible to get a decent night's sleep due to the inconsistency in the mattress and the inability to get comfortable. We both wake up with headaches, neck pain and back pain after sleeping on a mattress that was supposed to help reduce these issues. I've recently moved to sleeping on the couch so I can get some rest... It's hard to admit that such an expensive purchase was a massive mistake. But the proof is hard to ignore.
I spent enough time reading the warranty-only to find that it's worded in such a way that they still have every excuse possible to NOT replace it. Don't think for a second that you're going to get any money back. The warranty reads that the mattress "WILL" get softer over time and that is NOT covered under any circumstances. Never again will this company get my money.

The mattress was changed out by Tempur-Pedic for another one which hasn't seemed to make a difference at all. Still never a night's sleep without pain. He sleeps most of his nights in a recliner since it seems to cause so much less pain. How can they continue to sell mattresses which make so many people ill and at such high prices? A year ago, we bought a high end Tempur-Pedic (as our "exchange" mattress when the first memory foam mattress didn't cut it) thinking this would be the best memory foam you can buy. And perhaps it is, but my husband suffered big time with back pain as he slowly sunk into it after the first hour of sleep. We have a split king (one side is memory foam, the other mattress a hybrid of springs + foam top). We fought over who would have to sleep on the Tempurpedic side since we both hated it. Tried to sell it for half price on Craigslist for months and NO ONE will buy a used mattresses of that quality. So last weekend we got creative since it appears we're stuck with this thing. After going to IKEA, we went to the mattress section and found the softest mattress on the floor. It was way softer than our bed, but this was for testing purposes. We took a thin firm topper they also had on the floor and it did help to prevent the sinkage into the memory foam.
Even more impressive was placing the topper on top of the runner mat they put at the end of the bed to keep dirty shoes off the beds. It was a huge support base to have this rubber floor rug runner, so we thought what's another $112 dollars at this point? We bought the thin (1.5") TJOME topper (TWIN was only $99) and the $12 LYNAS floor runner. Placed the runner on top of our Tempur-Pedic right at the lower back point, secured it tightly, then put the TJOME topper over it. Covered it all with a spare top sheet and it is now THE more comfortable side of the bed if you can believe it!!! My husband is in heaven and I'm thrilled that this year long battle has been resolved and we both wake up to happy backs in the morning! The rubber runner doesn't slip at all and provides just the extra stiffness to stop the sinking. DO IT!!!

If you can help it, you should not purchase any Tempur-Pedic products. The material changes from your body heat cause a sinkhole effect. If you are going thru menopause, this is the worst product ever. It is advertised that it keeps you cooler at night, but it is the complete opposite. Once the product heats up, it retains the heat causing you to be hot all night. I have called Tempur-Pedic customer service and ask for a refund. They refused and wanted to send out a new replacement. I did not want to go thru the break-in period again to waste my time knowing the product fails.
The chemical smells (gas) last about 30 days which is horrible. The mattress was delivered and I noticed that the chemical smell was not that strong, and after sleeping the product it felt like my old mattress. Broke down and sleeping in a sinkhole. I looked at the mattress tag and it had been cut off and a new one was glued on the tab. The Tempur-Pedic company sent me a used mattress as my warranty replacement without telling me. That is nasty!!! I have called the company and requested to speak to a manager about this situation and the customer service person states that they can't give me a phone # and they will have a manager call me.

It was delivered to my home & the delivery men told me I would not be able to sleep on it for several nights. When I asked "why", they told me it had to "gas off". And, boy did it gas off on me!! I was never able to sleep on it, as the chemical stench in the house was unbelievable. The 2nd day, my throat was starting to feel strange - burning, etc. I called the mattress store and they told me to "hang in there for a few more days".
On the 4th day, my throat and mouth felt like I had hot chili peppers in them. Again, I called the store and told them I didn't think I would be able to keep the mattress, but they told me to open my windows (it was 113 out here in AZ) and put bowls of vinegar around the room to absorb the odor. I did both + ran several fans - nothing helped. Bottom line - by the 10th day, after fighting with the store & going through the corporate office for the mattress store, they got it out of here. However, I felt like I had an elephant on my chest.
My Doctor sent me to the emergency care & I had acute bronchitis caused from chemical poisoning... Then, my life changed drastically. I now have MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities). It will be with me the rest of my life. I can no longer use or be around anything with a scent; pleasing or not. That means I have to use laundry soap and bath soap & products with NO scent or chemicals. I cannot go into stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, Staples, etc, etc. because the chemicals in the products (wood, rubber, ink, etc) all cause my ears to ring and mouth & throat sting (just like when the mattress was in the house). Not only that, but I cannot eat or drink anything with preservatives or the same symptoms appear.
And, if the ladies at church come up and hug me on Sunday morning, and they are wearing perfume, I have to come home, wash my hair and take a shower to get rid of the scent on me. My Doctor sent me to 4 different Allergists and they all said it was MCS. Nothing helps it ... and there is no cure. I would never ever purchase one of these beds or even a pillow. These mattresses "gas off" for years - not days. Shame on Tempur-Pedic for being concerned with how many million of $$$$ they can make at the expense of us poor people that put our faith & trust in the products made in America.

After reading all the reviews, count my husband and I both in. We spent more money than we ever have on a bed. We had just bought another bed one year before, I believe it was a sealy, but firm bed, spent around $1800.00 for the mattress and box spring. Slept on it for 10 days, was miserable. I called Rooms To Go, where we'd purchased, they said sorry Charlie, not refundable, it's all yours. We then squirmed in this bed for approx one year. Went to look at tempur predics, they showed us everything, guided us to what our specifications were, we purchased the bed. They came out, took our old bed with the special $100.00 cover to protect the mattress (warranty was void if not in tact) told us they were going to slash the bed once it arrived at warehouse. (I thought, with all the poor soles out there that don't even have a bed, what kind of crap is this?).
Anyway, needless to say, here we are with this luxury bed. Every nite, my husband and I kick off the covers because we are burning up. Both our neck and backs feel like we slept on a hard floor. My back is so stiff upon waking that it kills me to move. Yes, we are not young, between 55 and 60 and this is why we decided we needed to spend so much money to finally get a good sleep. At this point, I don't trust anyone, I thought I'd look at the sleep number beds, but then I just watched a youtube video on how cheaply they are made, how they won't refund or let you return a bed, and the sleep is not great. Do not know what to do. Back to a spring bed? Maybe that's the answer!

I have been jumping through hoops to receive any type of customer service since I first purchased my Tempur-Pedic mattress. A couple weeks after initially making my purchase, I had to call customer service to schedule a date for my mattress to be delivered. I had been told that by the point I decided to inquire about the delivery of my mattress, I would have already received a call for that purpose. The representative I spoke to (who was extremely professional and nice), contacted the company responsible for the delivery and had them call me. The call I received was from a man whose attitude resembled that of someone who was annoyed, and I felt as though I was being treated like an inconvenience.
A few weeks after receiving my mattress, I decided it was not for me. I do not feel that the new design of the Tempur-Pedic mattresses live up to the reputation the company built from the original Tempur-Pedic mattress (although this is beside the point). I contacted customer service yet again to inquire about returning my mattress. While the individual representatives I spoke to, like the representative I referenced earlier, were very professional and kind, it was a huge hassle to get on the phone with someone who could actually help me with my return. I was either transferred several times or the call was dropped or the department I was transferred to was closed, even though I had called within the listed hours of operation.
Finally, after much frustration, someone processed my request to return my mattress. I was told it would be about two weeks until the mattress was picked up. Well after two weeks I had given up on actually having my mattress picked up, and, not wanting to jump through any more hoops, I called Tempur-Pedic to have the return cancelled. This, of course, went over seamlessly. However, I still remained dissatisfied with my purchase and could not fathom keeping the mattress, so once again I called Tempur-Pedic customer service to have the mattress returned. Once again I was transferred, dropped, or told that the department I was trying to contact was closed although I had called within the hours of operation.
A few weeks after requesting to have my mattress returned, I again had to call to inquire as to exactly when the mattress would be picked up. The representative I spoke to on the phone was, again, professional and friendly, and told me he would contact the company responsible for shipping/returns and that he would have them call me. However, this time, the shipping company did not call me. A few days later, I called customer service once again and spoke to the same customer service representative. He contacted the shipping company again to tell them to get in contact with me regarding my return. I received a phone call from who I assume was the same annoyed man who had contacted me for my original delivery. I would like to note that once again, I should have been contacted for the return of my mattress at this point, and I should not have had to go out of my way for this to have been scheduled.
It has been over two weeks since my mattress has been picked up and I have not received my refund. This is completely unacceptable to me. First of all, two weeks should be an adequate amount of time for a mattress to be returned to the warehouse and for a refund to be issued. That being said, secondly, I completely disagree with the company's policy to refund the customer's money upon the arrival of the mattress to the warehouse. I have the receipt for the pick-up of the mattress. Once the mattress is picked up, it is completely out of my control when or even if the mattress makes it back to the warehouse.
I have tried to contact the department of Tempur-Pedic that deals with refunds and every single time that I call, I receive a message that the department is closed and to call back during their regular hours of operation. Every single time I have called, I have called well within the hours of operation and have called several times throughout the day just to receive this same message every time. I have attempted to contact other departments to resolve this issue but every time I do, I am referred back to the phone number of the department that consistently is closed. I do not understand how a business could possibly run this way. I cannot and should not have to afford to pay for a mattress that I no longer even own. Furthermore, this has been by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I work in the customer service industry, and I pride myself on being a considerate, reasonable consumer. I do not like to complain, and only do so when I feel like it is absolutely necessary. My experience with Tempur-pedic has been absolutely ridiculous.
It is my understanding that there is a $300 processing fee for returns. I would like my entire purchase refunded, including that $300 processing fee. I would never have purchased a product from Tempur-Pedic had I known that this would be my experience and I would like to be compensated for my extreme inconvenience. If this request cannot be fulfilled, I will be reporting Tempur-Pedic to the Better Business Bureau.
I think it is worth mentioning that consumers who make the decision to make such an extravagant purchase such as a Tempur-Pedic mattress do so with the peace of mind that if they are not satisfied, their purchase can be returned and refunded without hassle. If this peace of mind is what makes the difference between a sale and no sale (which, as anyone in retail knows is certainly the case), customer service such as what I have experienced is going to greatly hurt Tempur-Pedic's business. According to Tempur-Pedic's website, 94% of people love their Tempur-Pedic mattress. That means that the vast majority of people who purchase a Tempur-Pedic will not decide to return it as I have. Absolutely no one would have peace of mind purchasing a Tempur-Pedic mattress knowing this is the level of customer service they are going to receive if they do, indeed, come across a problem with their mattress.
I believe it would be beneficial for Tempur-Pedic to provide adequate service to those who are returning their mattress in order to avoid losing business from those who would have otherwise purchased and kept their Tempur-Pedic mattress had they been able to have that peace of mind that Tempur-Pedic clearly does not offer at the present moment.

Reading half the reviews on this site, I feel like I could have written them. After about 6 months on my Cloud Luxe, my back gave out. Turns out I had 2 ruptured discs. I'm not blaming the bed entirely, but I'm sure it exacerbated their condition to the point where I was unable to stand up for nearly a week. I spent that week on the sofa. Afterward, it seemed like I was waking up in extreme pain every morning. Not just my back, but my hips and shoulders. My boyfriend would complain about his shoulders too.
After communicating with Tempur-Pedic, they replaced it with a Rhapsody, which is the firmest they have. It seemed alright for a month or two, but it's been 8 months now, and instead of being firm, there's a giant sinkhole again. I have to support myself with a body pillow and about 3-4 other pillows just to get a minimum of relief. I've decided I'm moving into the guest room until I get rid of it. My poor back can't take it anymore. Also, a lesser bother, but still a bother, is the heat problem. And like others said, whenever I sleep in a hotel or on some other bed, my back always feels a million times better when I wake up. However, since I (0%) financed it, I still owe about 6 or 7 months of payments on it. I've tried selling it on Craigslist to no avail. Even when it is all paid for, I hate to just throw it away. It was over $4K, which is a lot of $ to me. But I can't live in the guest room forever. If there is a class-action suit, I definitely want in!

I have never been this disappointed over a mattress. It is not even worth it; it is bad for your health. This mattress is over commercialized when in fact it is biohazard to human health. Tempur-Pedic cloud select 54027831 plus the fat pillows "Tempur Cloud Standard" left me with achy bones every time I wake. I dealt with it for 1 year and a half and I am sick of it. This mattress ** up my back, my muscle tense up specially my scalene muscles and over time made my arms numb all the way to my phalanges, my right side of the face left me with a slight sensation of numbness...
I am 32 years old, 4'10, 118 pounds, exercise twice a week at the gym and I eat healthy food. Tell me does this sound right? I wake up with sore back, shoulder inflammation. My fingers are tingling-numbness, not from an injury but from injury from this Tempur-Pedic bed. My medical doctor tells me that my MRI and labs are normal, nothing. Consulted a chiropractor specialist who is helping me adjust my back. Tell me Tempur-Pedic Company, when I sleep on the couch or the floor, I am okay. My back isn't sore, my muscles doesn't tense up, my joints doesn't hurt... I truly hate your product. I would not recommend this product to anyone!!!

I bought a Tempur-Pedic mattress last year after checking reviews. I wished I had googled Tempur-Pedic hurts my back before I sunk $5k in this mattress. It hurts my back in the center of my body and my back never hurt here from any other bed. I slept on a spring mattress a couple a weeks ago and my back did not hurt and I felt rested. I'm glad I have seen I'm not the only one that has issues with this mattress. I keep telling my wife how bad this mattress hurts my back and how I'm going to get a different mattress asap. My recommendation would be to get a good spring mattress and don't waste your money on a Tempur-Pedic. They suck just like you read here.

My post will sound like-similar to all the others. First my wife and I had a latex rubber queen mattress from 1977 to 2003, it was very supportive (HEAVY) for all those years but was DUE to be replaced. We had heard so much advertising about the TP and we even laid on one at a home show. We bought a king, $1,600.00. It was very firm the first time we used it. If your room is cold (winter with a window open) it will be like cement, until you lay in it for a several minutes, then it softens up. Well for the first few days it wasn't comfortable, but we lived with it, on and off it got WORSE, constant tossing and turning. Plus my wife really complains about the heat retention! Now so do I. We never really got the bad smell others talked about. But the mattress NEVER seemed to support my back at all. In fact I can't wait to get out of the bed in the morning, because when I do my back feels much better. So I guess I have to thank TP for getting me to work on time. Our first TP (bought in 03 was replaced by TP (at no cost-due to my persistence) because it had two swells in the mattress where we sleep.
We took pictures and sent them in, the swells were about 3/4''. We got the replacement TP in 08 and it was the same crap from day one!! I just kept putting it off about complaining to TP about it. Now 6 years later, I had it and called them to see what can be done. I saw this website and was amazed that there hasn't been a class action suit filed already. COUNT ME IN!! All TP will do at best will be to replace the mattress so I will have the same problems, NOT this time. We are going to get a mattress somewhere else. I bought a relatively cheap layered for mattress for my daughter at college queen delivered $225.00, 8'' thick. She is 27 and no complaints yet. For that money I may try it out for a year or two. We both have slept at hotels and friends houses over the years and those beds (whatever they are) have felt WAY BETTER than our TP mattress. I felt it was my obligation to chime in here to support the others that got ripped off by TP!! Best of luck to all.

I purchased Tempur-pedic about 8-9 years ago. It wasn't all that comfortable from the get go, but I thought with such great reviews, it got to be good for my back, so I kept it. First I had to deal with replacing spring box, I ended up purchasing a new one $490, since the original started to squeak under this heavy weight of a mattress. The new box spring smells toxic, original wasn't as bad as far as I can remember, the smell didn't go away after several months. NOW this was not the biggest complaint I have about the bed, the issue not even overheating and sweating, so I had to buy expensive mattress topper.
The biggest issue is my lower back, it's been killing me for the last several months and just getting worse... I just recently realized that it's my mattress, since every time I sleep elsewhere (vacation or somewhere else in the house) my pain goes away! I am sad and don't know what to do about it - don't want to sell it. Can't imagine someone else getting sick on this bed and at the same time, it just not right to go and spend another few thousands on a new mattress. I researched reviews of other consumers and the stories are so similar to mine. I wish Tempur-pedic would stop being deaf to the complains and stop hurting people.

I bought a Tempur-Pedic due to all the reviews that it helped with back pain. It has been the biggest disappointment. It is so soft and hot that I wake up all night. The mattress had black mold on the underside within the first 6 months. They said on mold case, they only will replace it once. Since they have a department just dealing with mold returns, they obviously have a continuous problem with mold. The delivery group told me it was the fifth mold mattress they picked up that day. I can no longer sleep in the bed which just to be I bought the mattress an ergonomic base from Tempur-Pedic directly. I woke up sweating 3 times a night and within a couple of hours I have to get up due to severe back pain.
As my title states it was the worst purchase I've ever made. I feel that Tempur-Pedic advertising is fraudulent in its statement of comfort and seriously in any area of support as it provides none. They certainly don't mention chronic issues of mold or extreme heat. Now I'm searching for a new mattress but until I can afford one, I will be sleeping in my recliner. I actually spoke with my Doctor and was told I would be better off in my recliner. I wish I could tell anyone that needs a good bed or mattress to avoid Tempur-Pedic at all cost.

There is nothing about the bed that makes you feel cooler when you are sleeping. Also ever since we purchased the bed our lower backs have been hurting. My right shoulder hurts like there's a pinched nerve and my hips hurt. I have not had a good night of sleep since owning this bed except for the time I went camping and slept on an air mattress. The retailer said we just need to give it a break in time 90 days (when the trial return period ends).
I have contacted Tempur-Pedic to make my complaints known. I have spoken with three different people there. Everyone I have spoken with gives me the answer that if there is no defect in the mattress they can't and won't do anything about it. Their offer is for us to pay for an upgrade bed. At the time of purchase, it greatly reduced my back pain. About that time, we sold our large home (4200 sq ft) and down-sized into a 5th wheel. We bought the mattress from a Tempur-Pedic dealer (BackSmart) in Boise, ID. We were at the store when the salesperson registered us on-line. We have rotated the mattress head-to-foot each year but it has now developed a dip in the middle of the mattress.
When we looked for the receipt, it was nowhere to be found. We tried to contact the dealer, but they are out of business. We contacted Tempur-Pedic and were told without a detailed receipt they couldn't help. A cancelled check won't do it. We are retired and paying $1200 for a new mattress is NOT in the budget. We went with the Big Name to avoid this issue. If you can avoid Tempur-Pedic, I would suggest it. If nothing else will do, then put a copy of your receipt in your safety deposit box, as that is the only way you will get the warranty you are paying for.

After an accidental fluid spill (even though I purchased the protector at the same time, which was supposed to prevent fluids from reaching the mattress) the outer zippered cover and the mattress itself were soaked. I logged onto the Tempur-Pedic website and followed the directions for washing the zippered cover and hung it to dry. The zipper broke during the gentle wash cycle. So I contacted the company. After 18 minutes on hold and speaking to 3 different customer service employees, they want to sell me a new cover for $200.00. Way to stand behind their product.

I bought TEMPUR-Cloud Supreme Breeze for two reasons: to relieve stiffness on my back in the morning (back pain) and to eliminate my "hotness" during sleep. My back stiffness seems to be better, but my "sleeping spot" feels like a heating pad. Thankfully the other areas of the bed stays pretty cool, especially with a pretty cool sheet on the bed. So, I move to different spots trying to move away from my hot spot.
Thank goodness, our bed is king size and both my husband and I are small people, so I have more areas of the bed to move around during the night. You can guess whether my sleep is sound or not. Therefore, a completely false advertising about its absorption of body heat!!!!! It retains my body heat so well that I feel too hot to sleep soundly. Absolutely NO Breeze under my body! Is it worth $4,535? A Big NO!

Purchased a Rhapsody Tempur-Pedic in early 2007. Since then, I've had several respiratory infections even though I'm asthmatic. The sagging started about 3 years ago along with constant back pain and the sweating is awful. Last week went back to store to get warranty information, called Tempur-Pedic and they sent over instructions via email. We had to do all the heavy work lifting a king size extra heavy mattress to unzipper the cover to locate info from a tagless mattress and do the sagging test with the quarter. Immediately by the next morning I was on my nebulizer doing breathing treatments and finally ended up having to call out for a work shift and ended at Urgent Care. I'm a registered respiratory therapist who take my meds every day to control my asthma and allergies.
As of yesterday we were contacted about our 20-year warranty and inform that the bed will be replaced with the newest model of the king sized Rhapsody Tempur-Pedic mattress springs within 7-10 business working days. We would rather had our money back and replace it with a firm Sealy like our other beds but we were told no. It's kind of funny that Tempur-Pedic won't exchange our mattress for a Sealy when they are making a deal to buy out Sealy from what I've been told. Hopefully my back issues, sweating and breathing issues will be resolved with the new bed or I won't be waiting till our mattress' 10 year replacement warranty runs out. Yes there is a 20 year warranty but only the first 10 years are covered by a full replacement, the last 10 is prorated, just found that out.

I did a lot of research to find the best mattress and bought the Tempur-Pedic. To afford it I put it on a payment plan for 24 months. I had lower back aches and thought this would help. It has not. My back has gotten worse along with increases neck and shoulder pain. Some of the muscles in my back are so tight. Now they are like marbles. I have even thought I might have something serious like tumors and have had sonograms done on my back. I am willing to say I made a horrible investment but how will I be able to afford another mattress and how would I ever trust myself to pick one out ever again. Horrible mattress.

We purchased our Tempur-Pedic Rhapsody in January. We had questions about a Tempur-Pedic mattress and foundation boxes fitting in our 20-year-old four post bed. It does have two sets of metal supports each with two feet running laterally across the the middle of the bed. Our previous box springs rested on these, and a one inch wood strip that runs down both the left and right sides of the bed. The bed itself is very high off the floor. The sales people at our local Ashley Furniture were really pushing the adjustable box, but we were pretty sure it wouldn't work in our set. We told them the measurements of our current mattress and box, and they determined that we would need the "low profile" box.
Ashley delivered a Tempur-Pedic "Board" instead of the low profile box, so the first two weeks felt like we were sleeping on the floor. When they finally brought in the correct low profile box, BOTH of the wood cross members that run laterally across the bottom of the box broke off where they attach to the side frame of the box our wood rail that supports the box from the side only extends about 3/4 of an inch, and the cross members in the box attach to the side rails inside the box about an inch from the sides. So where the cross members attach internally inside the box are unsupported by our bed's built in side supports. We called for a replacement, which only took about TWO WEEKS because Ashley Furniture said that Tempur-Pedic would have to replace the box since it was a warranty issue (thanks again Ashley Furniture).
The replacement box broke in the EXACT same place the second night we used it. I ended up installing some 1 X 1 hard oak trim to the spots under the cross members to support them where they had broken off internally. Called again for support, and Tempur-Pedic said this was not unusual, and that they would be installing their own custom rails to support the new replacement box. The display beds in the store were on a frame that had the same supports for the box as ours, only a little lower to the floor. We showed this to the sales staff, and they assured us it would work. But now we have to have Tempur-Pedic screw their special supports onto our rather expensive bedroom set.

My husband and I bought an Allura queen with the power base in September 2014 for $4600. We were fine for the 100 days because we live in Florida and had the windows wide open. I did suffer from waking up in sweat every night. After much time away for the holidays and vacation, we finally spent several weeks in the bed - with the windows closed. I immediately suffered from sinus pain, sore throats and earaches. Then I started having shortness of breath, headaches and nausea. I went to the doctor who found no causes for these problems.
In the meantime, my husband started having trouble breathing - he has mild asthma attacks during his sleep from this bed. And, he is a cardiac patient! I BOUGHT SURGICAL MASKs for us to sleep in. My husband's symptoms are much relieved. Mine are better but I'm opting to sleep in our guest room as I feel much better. In addition, my husband has fallen out of bed twice because, although he is in the recommended weight limit, the bed has dipped quite a bit in these few months. Tempur-Pedic has Done nothing but lie to me for 3 weeks. I will be contacting a lawyer about a class action suit tomorrow. Please contact me if you're interested.

After I get out of bed, my back still hurts and my neck starts to hurt, burning pain, but overall stiffness that stays with me all day. I take Advil all day long, not sure how much that helps. I weigh 113 lbs, am a 53-yr-old female, 5'2" tall and NEVER had this kind of problem from sleeping on any other bed. I work out 4-6 times a week, Pilates and dance, and now I find it very difficult to do either. I am very active, just moved into a new apartment and hanging pic, climbing step ladders, etc., all the things I am used to doing.
At first I blamed it on shoveling snow. I live in NY on Long Island but this am realized it is the bed. The bed was purchased from "Sleepy's" in Centereach and had problems from the get go. Not with paying in full for it, of course that went GREAT. With the delivery, no set up on the bed, no removal of old bed, nothing. Horrible service. I am getting compensated, 2 cloud pillows, but wanted another pillow by TP, could not get them cause Sleepy's doesn't carry them. I was "appease", not compensated, I know the meaning of the words, almost the opposite. Not sure what I will do at this point, really want a different bed YESTERDAY and NOT any type of Tempur-Pedic. Purchased a Tempur-Pedic in November of 2011. The odor was absolutely horrible! We were told that the odor would eventually go away, it never ever did. I have to admit, it was the best sleep we have ever had, but my husband and I ended up very sick from the polyurethane they use in the foam. I ended up with Sinus issues, headaches, rashes that were just below the skin (very painful)! The rash lasted for 6 months and to this day any chemical will set me off again (never had this problem before)! Not to mention these rashes will only go away with months of Prednisone!
I have now become allergic to so many things that have a slight hint of chemicals in them and anything with petroleum, once again never had this problem ever! My life has pretty much been ruined! My husband ended up with testicle problems and headaches that lasted up to 6 months, he as well ended up with rashes here and there. I have 3 dogs and one in particular loved lying on the bed most of the day. One day during the 6 months we were all sick, my little Casey became very very ill and we took her to the Vet. Found out that her lungs were filling with fluid and she could no longer breathe. This poor little girl suffered for 12 days, there wasn't any way of saving her, Dr asked if she had been near anything toxic that could have affected her lungs and we mentioned the problems we were having and she felt that that may have been the issue, $3,500.00 later and now our precious Casey was dead!
We were very lucky that the mattress company took the bed back, that is, after threatening to sue! We have been to numerous Drs, finally one Dr told us what the problem was. He told us that we had to completely scrub the ENTIRE house down to get rid of the odor! We did however still need a bed and finally found a company that has memory foam mattresses not made with chemicals AT ALL! It was just as price yet well worth it! I too would love to enter into a class action suit for this company has ruined my life as well as my husband's! Now all I have to worry about on a daily basis is staying away from plastics, glues, chemicals, makeup.....anything made with petroleum or glues! Thank you Tempur-Pedic for ruining my life!

Purchased this mattress using the store financing method and just recently paid the monster mattress off. Our son asked us not to buy this mattress but my husband thought during the few minute 'test' sessions on several of the Tempur-Pedic mattresses that he found one that was satisfactory. Neither of us have ever had back or neck pains until the end of our first few months using this mattress. It is hateful! We are in our early 60's, fit, go to the gym regularly and have had wonderful health. We wake up and can hardly get out of bed now! It takes 1/2 hr or so until we feel 'loose' enough to move about without pain each morning.
When we stay with friends or family, we have a complete and wonderful sleep and get out of bed with NO aches and pains! We are now stuffy, congested and my husband suffers from new sinus issues since we purchased this mattress. We unfortunately invested in the Ergo bed and the queen Rhapsody mattress for about $5500. We both have extreme rash-like itchy skin outbursts that disappear when we leave home for a week or more, and immediately return once we sleep on our own mattress again.
This mattress almost prevents rolling over in our sleep because of the deep depressions we are rutted in after we fall asleep. That and the painful joints make this one unacceptable mattress that we wish we had not purchased! They kept telling us to give it 90 days... coincidental with the warranty term. We would join a class action suit in a heartbeat and will put this mattress in storage and replace it with something we can enjoy... Our old mattress was replaced because someone told us that the non-memory foam mattresses should be replaced every 10 yrs. We should have kept it! Signed - DISGUSTED and hurting.

Our biggest complaint is the pain we now experience in our back, hips and knees. EXCRUCIATING while in the bed, but as soon as you are out of bed in morning, the pain goes away. Takes forever to go to sleep because the pain is immediate as we lay down. We fear going to bed!! We keep thinking each night will be different, but it never is. I purchased a Tempur-Pedic Advantage Mattress 08-12-10. The mattress we "tested" in the store felt wonderful. The mattress I received is much too firm for me to get comfortable. It is much too hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. I kept thinking (as the literature indicated) it might take a while to get used to the new mattress. I have tried putting an acrylic blanket (doubled) over it to reduce the cold in the winter. I have recently purchased a high loft mattress pad to help relieve the firmness and insulate from the heat and cold. I paid $1829 for this mattress and would like to replace it with something else.
I doubt that I will ever "get used to it" as the literature states. I am very disappointed and feel that I paid a high price for something that is useless to sleep comfortably. I would not recommend this mattress to anyone. I have been telling friends about my experience and caution them about considering a Tempur-Pedic mattress.

Needed a tetanus shock because he hit his right eye and cut the skin and because there was a metal on the leg of the end table he needed the tetanus shock.
I was told the smell will be gone within 24 hrs. to keep the window open, which did, despise the fact it was cold outside. It will be almost two months and I still have the horrible chemical smell in my mattress. I visited the store where I purchased this item and was told the smell will go away within a month. I am just shocked to find out that there is mold on the underside of our Tempur-Pedic mattress that we purchased in November 2012. I was just reading comments and complaints about the mattress and I agreed with the opinions given with regard to back and neck pain that resulted from sleeping on the mattress and the difficulty of moving from one spot to another while lying on the mattress. For a reason that is not clear to me, I was slowly but gradually having back and neck pain and my wife was having a sinus infection after the purchase of the mattress.
But when I came across complaints about the mold on the mattress, I felt that it is a serious matter and therefore told my wife that some people were writing about finding mold on their mattress. She then said that we need to check our mattress. We then went to our bedroom, turned the mattress upside and opened the zipper of the cover and looked inside. To our great horror we noticed big black spots on the underside of the bed which we believe is mold. We then decided not to sleep on it again. Today is Sunday and come Monday we will inform the vendor to remove the mattress from our house.

When they unwrapped it, the fumes were overpowering, they said it would go away in a few minutes... it did not. My wife and I had to leave home while we used our attic fan to extract the fumes in 40 degree weather. The mattress was much too firm, more so than the the display model, but we were told it would "adapt" to our bodies with time. This apparently means it will develop a dip that is difficult to get out of.
We have had this mattress for over two years now and it is no more comfortable than it was when it was delivered. One would expect the the manufacturer would have offered some kind of satisfaction guarantee, but the store's fine print (in light gray print on pink paper, and on the back of the receipt, barely legible) says that the seller has no responsibility to the buyer, and that any returns will have to be negotiated with the manufacturer, and that we are responsible for all shipping costs, not to the store, mind you, but to to the factory! The Allura was my replacement and is soft to begin with. They are making me jump through hoops to verify the problem. The most difficult being taking a photo of the law tag which is placed on the BOTTOM of the mattress! I weigh 125 lbs and I certainly haven't worn out the mattress.and, yes I sleep alone. I again asked for a firmer mattress replacement and was told that I HAD to take another Allura because the firmer mattresses were too new, too new to be used as a replacement.

But over the course of the last year or so, we have both developed lower back discomfort. I have NEVER experienced back pain until the purchase of this mattress. I have made several trips to the chiropractor as well as noticing the discomfort has originated from hip issues on the side I regularly sleep on.
The bed has definitely lost its appeal and has quite a noticeable sag or indent where we sleep not providing the proper lumbar support which it claims to do. I did find flipping the mattress over provided a little more support, but for the cost of around $4000 this bed is highly overrated and is sold mainly off of the initial difference it provides compared to a spring mattress. We bought a Tempur-Pedic mattress in Nov. 2011. I didn't think much about a smell until we moved into a new home. When we moved the mattress, I smelled and then noticed the mold. It is awful. Tempur-Pedic refuses to replace the mattress saying it is not a manufacturing defect. Reading all the complaints about mold in new mattresses, I am wondering if there isn't a moisture problem starting in the manufacturing process. I will NEVER buy another Tempur-Pedic mattress. It's too bad because I did enjoy sleeping on it.

Just thinking that we were both getting sick we both went to the doctor a couple of times now & we still have a cough. Thinking it may be an illness of sort but our children haven't been sick so now we are thinking that maybe sleeping with our head elevated was the culprit. Now after doing some investigating it may have to do with the mattress itself.

Well... after much pondering for the past 5 years in giving in and buying the "BEST" advertised bed. I thought I would go into "Americas Mattress". So back in early November of this year 2013, I made the mistake of buying this bed that was 50% off (model display) after the glorification and all that roohas from the sales person I was sold! And got care credit and purchased the Tempurpedic Rhapsody. Total $2000.00. Every blessed day myself and partner wake up we are both achy and moody! I feel we have given it enough time to settle to our bodies even walked on it as it was suggested but still very unhappy. We are a pay check to pay check kinda family so this Investment has been the worst disappointment ever! I suffer from C - 5 degenerated disc disease which radiates to both shoulders and since sleeping on this concrete monster not only does my neck & shoulders ache also my lower back hurts and now both HIPS! And as far as my partners aches goes, back in 1984 he was in a car wreck that broke his neck and now he feels all those pinched nerves back all over again! WTH! I feel I was scammed. Had I known this I would have kept my 6 year old average bed and saved many headaches and best of all my two grand.

It sure doesn't massage, just irritatingly vibrates. I never use that part because I have Migraine Vertigo. Now, after 6 months, the bed just shakes & vibrates (though very mildly) on its own. I double check the remote to make sure it's completely OFF. It is off, but still vibrates. I don't know what to do. Has anyone else had this problem??? Sometimes I think I'm crazy!!! ):

I purchased a Tempur-pedic mattress and foundation in 2005. It supposedly had this 25 year to life warranty. Well I tried to get warranty help in 2011 to no avail and now it's 2013 and my body aches continuously. I personally think the warranty is a scam. Turns out to get the corporation's support for service or replacement you must remove the mattress cover - very hard to do on a Cal King! - and then lay a long straight stick across the mattress. If it shows a dip that is deeper than half the width of a quarter they'll interact with you! Well my bed is shot and after about 15 minutes a 140 pound woman sinks into a nest when attempting to sleep on the darn thing. It's caused miserable back, neck and leg aches. Of course the quarter test shows it's still the perfect bed! If I only weighed what a quarter weighs I am sure I'd be fine today. But since I weigh more I am in continuous pain and now in the market for another bed!

I bought the VERY pricey Tempurpedic matress and was not happy. We could not get comfortable, sleep and wake up without pain. We complained to the people who sold it to us (**, Pratteln, Switzerland) and was told there was nothing they could do. Usually extremely reputable companies like Tempurpedic STAND BEHIND their product. Mrs. ** did nothing to assist us other than telling us that it takes 6 months to get used to it! I tried to contact Tempurpedic but just got pushed around for months.
To this day we don't sleep, have pain and are unhappy. The problem is, I just can't afford a new mattress after spending so much on this one. BAD EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND.

About 6 years ago we purchased a Tempur-Pedic pillow top queen size w/ a wireless adjustable frame. After about 1.5 yrs, it suddenly collapsed & went flat while raising it. I called the Tempur-Pedic # on our literature & was told that there was no warranty on that part & I would have to buy a new one ($200-$300]) which I did. After the new 1 was in, I got curious as to what happened to the original & took it apart. I discovered that the plastic block that is in front of the motor drive rod had shattered. It appears that these plastic blocks are of inferior quality & after so much use, they just explode! This is #2 for me & I am not going to spend money for a new unit, for something that costs as much as that did. It should be more reliable than that & it appears that whoever supplies those plastic blocks is supplying a product that is not up to the job.
When the 1st 1 failed the lady @ Tempur-Pedic was very short (read rude) & very well versed on the problem & the replacement they sent was different from the original in that it didn't have the vibrating feature. All this made me wonder @ the time if there might be a design flaw they were trying to correct!!!!!! All this has me thinking I should make a sign & stand in front of the store it was purchased at warning customers of the inferior quality of Tempur-Pedic wireless adjustable frames. The good news is I love my pillow top mattress but I would strongly suggest you do something about those chintzy cheapo plastic blocks. Surely you have a design engineer on staff that can solve this problem before somebody gets hurt, I can think of 2 or 3 ways myself.

One or both dislodge from the foundation box, making the foundation unstable. If you hear a creaking noise in your Tempur-Pedic foundation, check for a broken rib by running your hand along the side. If the rib or wood strip/slat has dropped below the level of the foundation frame, it is broken, and you should contact Tempur-Pedic customer service for a warranty foundation replacement. I am 51 years old, 5'9", 165 lbs and physically fit. I am a runner and I lift weights as part of a regular fitness regimen and I have had back pain issues over several decades from various sports activities. I was hoping, due to the alleged 'contoured support' of the Tempur-Pedic mattress, that any back pain symptoms or injuries that occasionally befall me would be alleviated by the 'pressure point relieving' features of a Tempur-Pedic mattress. I originally purchased a Tempur-Pedic Cloud Supreme king in September of '12. It had a terrible chemical odor from the "off-gassing" that occurs with these mattresses. It should have lasted only two to three weeks but over 60 days later there was little to no improvement. I also felt this mattress to be too soft as I experienced a hamocking sensation as the mattress warmed to my body heat. I was able to exchange it for the firmer Contour Signature King at a cost of several hundred dollars more. Within the first week of sleeping on this mattress, I began waking up with lower back pain when I awoke for the day.
Now, months later, I am waking up in the middle of the night due to lower back pain. I did not have this problem before I began sleeping on the Tempur-Pedic. I do fall asleep quickly on this mattress and I do prefer a firmer type of mattress but when I have had the occasion to sleep on a conventional spring coil mattress with a pillow top or the Marriott Hotel's foam mattress system, I do NOT wake with any lower back pain in the morning. In fact, I would seriously consider purchasing the Marriott Hotel's mattress system if I could sell my current Contour Signature. At a cost of over $3500, I don't want to just discard Tempur-Pedic without trying to recoup at least a fraction of the cost. It is my opinion that the Tempur-Pedic line of mattresses are not worth their exorbitant prices when, at least for me, a good night's sleep and a lower back pain-less/pain-free morning can be had for about half the price with a more conventional mattress. I admit, I fell for the marketing and the sales pitch at the mattress store and convinced myself that I would be buying the best, most restful sleep of my life. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Bought both a classic and deluxe back in 07 from the wholesaler, Building 19 which were mostly overstock and floor models. Both beds were in excellent condition, but I found that the deluxe was only comfortable when I started to sleep and then I'd wake up in the middle of the night suffering from a "hammock" type effect because my body heat was greater in the middle of my body as I slept through the night causing it to sink even lower in the middle.
Glad to say I was able to return the $1000 mattress. I kept the classic since I didn't suffer the same effect and I only paid $300 for the extra long twin bed which I first intended on using it as a guest bed. I later got used to it after 2 months and started sleeping in it more often that my regular queen size bed. I'm a little disappointed that they don't make it anymore, because I'd buy a queen size today. The Temper cloud looks comparable, but doesn't have the same density foam, so I'm not sure what to think.
If you do choose Tempur-Pedic, make sure you can either return it or exchange it as everyone's experience is different and you don't want to pay for an expensive mattress you hate.

I too wonder why there isn't a class action suit - guess we should start one! Two years ago I purchased a new Tempur-Pedic mattress that changed my life dramatically. When the delivery boys delivered it, I was anxious to put my new mattress pad & sheets on the bed.. When they told me I would not be able to sleep on the mattress for 4-5 days due to "gassing off". I was shocked but soon knew what they meant. The chemical odor was horrendous. A call to the illustrious salesman at the store told me to "sit bowls of vinegar around the room & open the windows." It was only 113 degrees here in Phoenix, but did what he said. A lot to this story, but on day 3 through day 10 when I finally got the corp. office to get the thing out of my house, my mouth & throat felt like I had hot chili peppers in them. My Doctor sent me to urgent care & I had "acute bronchitis caused from chemical poisoning."
Since that day, I have never been like I was before the mattress. I have been to 3 Allergists, 1 ear, nose & throat Doctor and 3 Naturopathic Doctors and it was determined that I have "Multiple Chemical Sensitivities". Look it up - it is awful! I believe the mattress is made of formaldehyde or a derivative thereof and now I cannot be around or use anything that has any chemical or smell (perfume on me or anyone else, laundry detergent, fabric softener, all cleaning products, candles, new car or anything else new odor, food preservatives, etc., etc.). The strange thing is that I was NOT allergic to anything before the mattress.
My life has been ruined. Every time I walk into a hardware store, office supply store, bedding store or get around any odors or eat preservatives, my ears start ringing and my mouth stings. Great life!!!!! Everything has odors! My concern for others is that even if they do not have the same experience as me, smelling that chemical will eventually cause problems. It's like those people who were around asbestos for years and now they are dying or dead from Mesothelioma. I have told everyone I know and continue to warn others about the Tempur-Pedic mattress. Consequently, I would never recommend it to anyone.

We purchased a Sealy Tempur-Pedic mattress in February this year (2013) and almost immediately began having problems with sagging. After months of "tolerating" this issue, my back could take no more. This morning I woke up and had finally had enough. I had my boyfriend lift the mattress up thinking that the box spring had somehow been compromised. As it turns out this was to be the least of our problems. Upon removing the mattress I was horrified to discover that the entire underside of the mattress was covered in BLACK MOLD! I immediately removed it from my house.
My boyfriend and I both made doctor appointments in order to be tested for any kind of infections. It all began to make sense. My boyfriend, who almost never gets sick, had been dealing with a persistent cough, and myself, unexplained sinus problems. I had been attributing this to allergies. In addition, we recently had to have one of our dogs put down due to a sudden and mysterious illness. Our dog had been healthy and happy up until about 2 months after we had gotten the mattress. We purchased our queen-sized Tempur-Pedic Cloud and frame last year and have been in pain since. First, this is an EXPENSIVE decision and should not be taken lightly. If I could go back and make another decision, I surely would. Second, the bed is HEAVY. No two persons can move it easily. Third, the smell of the bed was abhorrent for weeks. THANK GOD that has finally tapered off. Fourth, it is HOT (yes I may be experiencing "the change"). I waken literally dripping/soaked in sweat and have to get up and clean up and change. Not much for a "good night's rest" right?!
I can say I am glad we purchased and ALWAYS have the liquid proof cover on the bed at ALL times. However, in reading the reviews, I am thinking it doesn't matter and I am mortified they make me want to run home right now and check for mold (I have been noticing breathing issues over the past 6 months or so and fear from what I have read that there may be more problems forth coming) and realizing now all our aches may not be so "age" related! Here's to hoping when I go home and do an inspection of my bed this evening, I pray I find zero mold!
I am pretty sure since we filed a BK and the remaining credit owed for the bed was included we have no recourse (we did pay half of it; the other half was included as part of our filing). So far we have yet to experience 'lumpy' or 'sunken' issues. Not sure what if anything weight might have to do with that. My husband and I respectively are 210 - 168 *shut up he's lighter >:/... I truly wish I had read more on the product - true reviews from previous/current owners and not sales pitches - we actually took the word of some friends that it was the BEST THING EVER! Obviously it isn't :( Granted pretty sure they could afford and purchased the "Cadillac" version (I know that it was roughly $3000 or more and the depth/thickness of their bed is almost double the thickness of ours) whereas I believe we purchased a more "standard" version (however this bed with the frame and cover was still somewhere around $2200 out the door).
My husband has complained of pain for a while now and his shoulder got to the point that he recently had an MRI and Cortisone shot and still has pain because now he has switched sides and THAT shoulder is hurting him. We purchased this product because we both suffer from back and neck pain which we thought would be somewhat if not completely alleviated. This is NOT the case!!! When I awake and have to get out of bed, it is so not right. The pain in my back is horrid in the mornings! Once I manage to turn and get up and off the bed, I have to literally "crawl" up my own legs in order to get into a standing upright position and then wait a moment or two before moving to ensure I don't displace something seriously.
We are considering purchasing another bed and believe me if/when we do, it will NOT be a Tempur-Pedic. Unfortunately, until such time that we can afford this change, we are stuck with this behemoth of a bed! I have no idea what we will do with this terribly expensive mistake. The last thing I want to do is "give" or "sell" it to anyone and have them suffer either. In closing, BUYERS BEWARE ~ DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE AND RESEARCH. I wish I had looked into it more myself!

Purchased this very expensive bed as a reward to myself after working hard all my life. I deserve a good bed and night’s sleep right! Bought what I thought was going to be the answer to a getting a restful, comfortable night’s sleep - wrong! Over the past 2.5 years my wife no longer will sleep with me as she felt the bed was somehow responsible for her aches and pains, which I thought was foolishness. I am officially a senior citizen, while my wife is much younger. I have abused my body over the course of my working life and felt my many pains were the natural result of working hard and aging.
Since the bed purchase my problems have steadily increased to the point I have had more than a few medical procedures to determine the cause of these physical difficulties, difficulties breathing, every joint in me hurts, neck pains, back aches, excessively fatigued all the time, etc. I honestly thought life had caught up with me and I was nearing the end. All tests returned negative. Huh, could my wife be right. Was it the bed. Not to mention the horrible sweating that occurs as well. I spent a lot of hard earned money from my limited resources feeling I was doing something for myself. REALLY BIG MISTAKE!
At my wife's suggestion I tried sleeping in another bed and surprise, surprise, I do sleep better and the aches and pains are lessening nightly. Plus I get to sleep with this really cute girl again! I will start my search for a new (and much cheaper) bed starting this weekend and if I can figure out how I can move this incredibly and ridiculously heavy bed down stairs and out the door I will burn it as I wish to not inflict this torture on anyone else. Wish I had read some reviews. Guess I just believed the sales promotion. After reading reviews I know it is hopeless to deal with the company responsible. I just want my life back.
I have since.

So I went out of town for a week and slept in a hotel and all my hip pain stopped. Came back home and slept in my bed and it started back. I called Tempur-Pedic and they sent me instructions on how to see if the mattress was defective and need to be replaced. I followed the instructions and took the required pictures.
Tempur-Pedic agreed it needs to be replaced. This has continued about every year and a half. This month, I will be getting my 4th replacement. They still say that somehow I received defective ones and that all of their mattress are not defective?? They said I could pay and upgrade to a more firm mattress for $2,000?? My thought is I have spent $3800 to buy it, many trips to the doctor and 4 mattresses later, you want me to spend more money with you? I think not. When they replace this one, I plan to leave the plastic on it, put an ad on Craigslist and just take the loss on it.
I will say it was great for about 6 months then starts to sag each time. Then you have to put up with the discomfort while you are waiting for it to meet the replacement criteria to be replaced. I am surprised there are no class action law suits based on the failure rates we have seen with the Rhapsody. FYI, our weight is between 200 to 225 just so you know what weight has been placed on the mattress.

When I tried it out in the store, it felt very comfortable, and with everything I had heard about the mattress I thought in spite of the fact that this mattress was more than I could afford, I deserved to have it because of my spine problems and how good this mattress would make me feel. Within the first week of sleeping on the mattress, I began to have very severe back, neck and groin pain in the mornings when I would wake up. I called the store and told them about this. The store manager reminded me that there was a "NO RETURN POLICY". I could only exchange the mattress twice within the first 30 days, paying a restocking fee each time of $300.00. I had no choice but to do this, so I exchanged my Cloud Lux (CA King Split) for a different model, recommended by the sales person in the store saying that it would be a more firm mattress and probably better for me than the Cloud Lux.
So now I have approximately $3,700.00 into this purchase. This time, it took a full month before the pain set in, but it did and it was awful. I could hardly walk!! So now, I am totally upset!! I don't want to give them any more of my money because the store does have what I originally went in to buy in the first place, a latex mattress..... On August 2011, I purchased a Tempur-Pedic mattress, model Tempur-Cloud Queen with the accompanying Tempur-Pedic foundation. In July 2012, I found there was mold on the bottom of the mattress. The mold seemed to come from within the mattress and some of it had spread to the mattress cover and the box spring. At the time, Tempur-Pedic agreed to exchange it for a new mattress and box spring of the same model. The replacement model arrived in August 2012. A mattress protector was also included with it, ensuring no liquids would get into the foam.
In July 2013, I found mold on the bottom of this mattress too, in about the same area as the previous one. During the 11 months that I owned this mattress, there were absolutely no spills on it. Neither its top surface nor sides show any stains nor sweat marks; they look pristine. There is no humidity or dampness in the room. In fact, before August 11, I had a regular spring mattress on the same metal bed frame, in this same bedroom for more than 10 years and never had any issues with mold before.
I contacted the Tempur-Pedic again, and this time they sent me a generic email affirming that the reason for the mold was because moisture had been introduced in the mattress and therefore, they were not responsible for it. Their email message expressly states not to reply to it. This is the end of the line as far as they are concerned. Attached to it was a copy of the warranty, which does not make any reference to mold. The company’s website and care instructions also do not mention anything about the propensity of the mattress to develop mold, let alone develop mold without it being in contact with any liquids.
The fact that the mold is coming from within the mattress even though there were no spills on it, and the fact that this problem has occurred more than once, leads me to believe that this is a design flaw of this type of mattress. I am seriously disappointed with this product and with the lackadaisical attitude of Tempur-Pedic in addressing the main problem, which is mold developing within the product. This was a very expensive purchase. I cared for it exactly according to the manufacturer’s instructions, did not neglect, abuse, nor introduce any moisture to it. Now I am stuck with a potentially hazardous product due to no fault of my own.

We were also instructed to walk on the bed 10- 20 minutes daily or more for 5 days and that would help break the order up and the bed in. These hints seemed to work for us... but as a lady soon hitting the hot flash stage in life, this bed is HOT!!! We sleep with the windows open and fans going and still have one or both legs hanging out for coolness.
This bed has helped my husband's back and sleep. I had back problems from a car accident so I can not and have had surgery so I can not honestly say it has helped or it was the surgery... All in all the main complaint I have is the HEAT!!! Also waking up dripping in sweat from the mattress. I am glad to hear there is a gel product. I also have not lifted the mattress due to the weight to confirm not mold has grown... Sounds like something hubby and I will do sooner than later.

My husband and I have had our king size Tempur-Pedic approximately 8 years. We have exchanged it about 3 times. The mattress is not comfortable at all, we wake up with back and neck pain. I called to see what they would do and was told, we needed to pay an extra $1000.00 more to replace what we have with the equal value. The original cost was $3500.00. What a waste of a good night's sleep. The company has numerous complaints and should reimburse customers some of their money.

I bought the Cloud Tempur-Pedic king bed 2 years ago and just discovered black mold growing on the bottom of the mattress. It went through 2 covers. The bed stays very warm and causes us to sweat. I'm assuming the foam is absorbing moisture which in turn causes mold because of poor ventilation under the mattress. I sleep very well on this bed and never had any complaints until now. We're currently filing a claim and understand we might receive a new one but the exact same model. Makes no sense. Why would I want to exchange a faulty product for the same thing? I highly recommend not buying memory foam.

We bought the bed from Sleep Dr. on 28th Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan due to my lung condition. We thought it would help me. Gave this information to the salesman who concurred. It was delivered May 17th 2013. I have been sick ever since it came never thinking it was the bed. I truly thought I was dying. We just figured out it was the bed. We went to Sleep Dr. today, Sept 9 and they said, “Sorry you came too late. The guarantee is only good for 30 days there is nothing we can do.” We are out 10k. We will not sell this or we would be no better than sleep Dr. I wish we could take legal action. This mattress can kill people and they don't know. Who would think the off gas from your mattress could make you sick! Any ideas???

I invested in a King AlluraBed last October, paid $3000 for a clearance model. I was assured by the retailer that it included full warranty support; no caveats, the same coverage any brand new mattress would provide. Well, less than a year later and my mattress has started to bulge and swell like a balloon on one side, making it very uncomfortable and ugly. I contacted the Tempur-Pedic warranty team, was told that my issue was covered, submitted a claim, photos etc. Everything was going smoothly. Then I got an email stating that "effective as of 2012" they no longer cover items sold at a discount, essentially telling me that because I got a deal, they are voiding my warranty and refusing to fix their defective mattress!
Here is the best part... They are giving me the option to pay full price for my bed to activate the warranty. The difference between what I paid and full retail cost is about $2000. I am being told that if I pay the $2000, they will then replace my mattress. So...my warranty is being held hostage for $2000. How shady!!
It is clear that this company only cares about one thing...and it is not their customers or their product. It should not matter what I paid for the mattress. The fact is I bought a product that was received in perfectly good condition, followed all of their proper use guidelines, and that product failed in less than a year... Bottom line is the company should stand behind their product and take care of their customers! Instead I am stuck with a $3000 brick that they will gladly replace... only if I pay another $2000. I would much rather take $2000 and invest in another brand that will stand behind their product. Thanks Tempur-Pedic... You had a happy customer, but you really dropped the ball on this one.

This company has no honor on integrity. They sell you a mattress with a 20 yr warranty and a 10 year complete replacement policy which they in no way plan to honor. I bought mattress which they shortly after discontinued due to poor performance and costly returns. Now they refuse to replace the mattress which has failed in 8 years. They have no honor and I would recommend NEVER BUYING A TEMPURPEDIC MATTRESS or anything else this company sells.

Our mattress has gotten to the point that I sleep alone. The heat from the mattress is unbelievable. In order for me to sleep a complete night, I must move from one side to the other. After two hours, the heat comes again and must move to the other side. Since it is a queen, I use left side, middle, right side. Without my wife. No such thing as a warranty. Store where I bought it says only 90-day warranty. Paying over two thousand dollars, you would think they would stand behind their product. I heard they fixed the problem with a gel inserted?????

We bought a bed from Raymour and Flanigan in 2009. This was actually a replacement for their own faulty line (Aquarius)! Anyways we were credited what we paid and were pretty much pushed into the $3000.00 Tempur-Pedic NASA-backed mattress. We got charged tax for another bed even though it was not our fault!! We bought a new bed frame recently and lifted the heavy mattress to move it... And under on the foundation were black spots??? This thing was so heavy we never moved it until just recently. We have a 25-year warranty on both. I have noticed since last year we were ill more and when we first got the mattress with toxic like fumes. The bed is not comfortable at all.
I called and they sent a tech out to measure our bed which was only .25 inch and needs to be .75 inch for them to replace. So we have had this for such a short time already and it's a .25 down and they don't try sleeping on it. Then he lifts the mattress and sees the black we were concerned about!! He puts in notes on mattress... It was only on foundation... which he never lifted that to check. So we have to keep this and can't get anyone to help us. This mold is from no air. The top weighs a ton. The mattress claims it changes with temperatures and humidity. They are making us sick. I slept on it while pregnant. We lost 3 babies... Could not find out why. Then our daughter we finally have Is sick all the time in our room. I nursed her in the bed. She has had asthma very young. There has got to be something we can do???

Our first Tempurpedic Contour mattress developed mold on the bottom within about 3 months of purchase. It was replaced by Tempurpedic under warranty without too much trouble. Now a year later, the replacement mattress also has mold all over the bottom of it. I was told they wouldn't replace the mattress under warranty since it had already been replaced and that "Something must be introducing moisture to the mattress". No liquid has ever been spilled on the mattress and we use a dehumidifier in the bedroom. Absolutely ridiculous!

Just getting started with Tempur-Pedic with a new problem with the foam under the mattress topper. When we purchased it from the Tempur-Pedic store in KY, we purchased everything including the platform to go with it. The foam has split completely through top to bottom about three feet down one side and just starting on the other to do the same thing causing the sides of the bed to bulge out. We have had this mattress for less than five years. We have had to replace the hand held control already and are now having problems with the one side of the bed not staying pumped up with air. The first time the representative told us the new control was free. We had a problem with it after a year, and she had us unplug the whole unit and start over and it began working to pump up the air.
However, the one side after sleeping uncomfortably one night continues to sink down in the middle. It is not very comfortable and both my husband and myself are having back problems trying to sleep in this bed. I definitely do not want another one. I expect they will want to sell me replacement parts and I will keep you posted. I don't intend to waste any more time or money if that's what they plan to offer me. While visiting with my brother, the bed we slept in was far more comfortable than this one has been over the past five years.

Tempur-Pedic (TPX) donated in one year thousands of used dirty mattresses to a charity called Waste to Charity all in one year, I feel for a tax credit. These mattresses had no covers on them and a lot were really dirty and stained and needed to be cleaned and repaired. Now TP donates thousands of mattresses to Gifts 360 or Gifts in kind. These charities say they do not sell them, they only charge a fee to others to buy the used returned mattresses. Some I see go to children's hospitals. I hope those are NOT the same uncleaned returns they donate for a tax credit. As you know, these mattresses when new may smell, get hot, or get sink over years and when you return them, they donate them to places that take a fee from a charity to get them. Beware of who touched that used mattresses before children or sick people get one. (For more info, ask TP what happens to the bad mattress you return.)

I bought a Tempur mattress on 21 June and have not had a night's sleep on it since I bought it. The smell permeates through the house because it's a small house. It is as if I had painted the room with the cheapest paint and the smell is overpowering. Now this is over two weeks. Also because of the cloud top, if you sleep on your side near the side of the bed, it's very easy to almost slide off. The edge of the mattress slopes down so you have to sleep more or less in the middle. I have emphysema and a Pulmonary Embolism so this does not help the lungs.

I received a Tempur-Pedic pillow as a gift just over two years ago. I really liked the pillow, but it is a VERY expensive pillow, well over $200 which I thought was ridiculous. My pillow had not been feeling right lately so I opened it up and the entire seam (one of the long ones on the side) had ripped and the insides were coming out. It caused the pillow to be deformed and uncomfortable. I use this pillow like a normal person would sleep on it. There is no reason it should have split and failed, but it did. I've had pillows for 20 years without any failure and this just over two years. I checked the warranty and this issue is specifically covered, but only for 3 years.
I contacted customer service and they require a receipt to address the fault. I do not have one as this was a gift. I explained this to them, but they are adamant that a receipt is required stating, "Requiring a receipt is the only way to ensure people do not purchase the product used and then simply trade it in for a new one. Requiring a proof of purchase is standard for most warranties for all types of products." Well, I disagree. I did not buy this used; it was a gift. How could I even HAVE the receipt, although I know when and where it was purchased (Christmas gift from hubby who did not keep the receipts)? Also, for GOOD companies who care about their consumers (and I had purchased two more pillows as gifts), honoring the warranty should be standard.
Clearly, this is a fault they are aware of. Otherwise, it would not be specifically listed in the warranty items, and a 3-year warranty even seems short when they are aware of this being a fault. I have a client in the consumer products industry and they ALWAYS provide refunds for products regardless of a receipt. They are a good company; Tempur-Pedic is not. I strongly urge people to be careful with this company and products. The pillow is FAULTY, the seam split for no reason. The company does not care about its existing consumers, only new consumers. Customer Service and warranty are sub-standard. BUYER, BEWARE!

We bought this bed about 8 or 9 years ago and I wish I would have read these reviews earlier. My husband and I have suffered the entire time we have slept on this bed. It feels good for about five minutes and you sink. There is permanent sink depression on both sides of the bed with a lump in the middle. The only time I get a couple of hours of sleep is when my husband gets up and I move on the lump, I am able to sleep a few hours. Since my husband and I have had many broken bones and my husband has a hip replacement, I thought our pain was from our injuries. The last few years, I have been experiencing my hip out of alignment and now my other side is starting to do the same thing. From reading these reviews, I am convinced it is the bed causing most of our problems.
A few months ago, while on vacation, we had the best sleep and I actually woke up not in pain. Since we have been back at home, the pain has increased to the point where I am tired all day; my neck, back, hip, knee, elbows, wrist and jaw all crack all day because everything is out of alignment. After reading all these complaints, I always knew this bed was garbage but I'm convinced it has increased our pain enough to ruin our lives as we wake up in pain everyday. It was so bad I lost my job in which I worked out of my home and now I cannot even stand to sit in a chair. I have to go out and try to find a chair to support my neck and back.
I am also so relieved to find out it is not just me who sweats like pig in this bed. We also have the fan on just about all year and we live in MI. I wonder why we were never told to air out the bed or how to release the gases in this bed as it does stink and I could never sleep on a stinking pillow made of this. No wonder those people get headaches. The smell is strong and is a nasty chemical smell. How the hell are they still able to sell this product? We are like the rest who bought into this mattress; we overspent and cannot afford to replace it but it is ruining our lives. Art Van should quit selling this product!

Severe increasing breathing, mental and physical problems encountered by myself and my wife while sleeping on a Tempur-Pedic mattress. We purchased a Tempur-Pedic King size Weightless Supreme Mattress and two queen sized Cloud Pillows for $3,299.00, via telephone from Tempur-Pedic on November 24, 2012. We received the pillows within a few days of the order placement and the mattress arrived the first week in December 2012. We immediately set up the bed, complied with Tempur-Pedic’s recommended procedures for assisting in reducing the gas/chemical smells from the mattress and pillows by airing and walking on them several times and immediately began sleeping each night on the Mattress and utilized the Cloud Pillows.
Increasingly, when sleeping on the mattress, I became aware of increasing difficulties breathing, gasping for breath, extensive sinus mucus drainage and feelings of a partially blocked or swollen throat. I was having increasing difficulty sleeping, and when I did sleep I would sometimes wake up almost panicky with a sensation of drowning. Mentally, I had an increasing inability to relax with extensive random rapid, frustrating, uncontrollable mental thoughts leaping through my mind making sleep very difficult or impossible.
Being a senior citizen, I assumed I had "a bug" that would resolve itself and/or I was just getting older and had to expect these difficulties to occur. The symptoms would lessen during the daytime and I would feel better by evening. As the symptoms continued to become more severe, I determined that I must take some sort of action to attempt to find a cause for and some relief from these problems. I tried to determine if I had changed any meds or other aspects of my life that could possibly contribute. We evaluated our foods for any changes of diet or any lifestyle changes that may have contributed.
After extensive considerations, I thought to evaluate the potential that the Tempur-Pedic mattress and/or pillows could be a factor. At this point, I chose to try to continue to sleep on the Tempur-Pedic mattress but utilize a regular conventional pillow from our old bed. My symptoms during the night and day reduced somewhat but did not stop. Sometimes, I would change back to the Tempur-Pedic pillow and my symptoms would once again increase. Finally, I chose to try to sleep in our guest bedroom on a conventional inner spring mattress with a regular pillow to see if there was a difference in my symptoms.
The first night I slept fitfully but the symptoms were greatly reduced. Since then, each night I have slept more soundly and the symptoms now have reduced to the point that I feel what I consider to be much improved. I do not know if my symptoms will ever completely clear up and/or if there is possibly some permanent damage been caused, but I have chosen to not sleep again on the Tempur-Pedic mattress and/or pillows.
We are in the process of obtaining a new pure 100% natural latex mattress to replace the Tempur-Pedic mattress and pillows at a cost of $2,807.00. As I discussed my symptoms and concerns with my wife, she also began to list symptoms that she was experiencing that she was trying to justify as possible aging and/or stress/intensity in her employment requirements. Some of the symptoms she listed were; eyes feeling very tired with stinging and burning sensation, inability to think as well and difficulty in concentrating on specific subjects, severe itching on the back of her neck and head, not sleeping soundly and not feeling rested, very tired and un-energetic all the time.
After the decrease in my symptoms after one night, she chose to also sleep in the guest bedroom on the conventional inner spring mattress and pillow. Her symptoms have also significantly improved. We have never slept on the Tempur-Pedic mattress or pillows again. After all of our efforts, it is apparent and it is my opinion that the off-gassing from chemical byproducts from the Tempur-Pedic mattress and pillows is the cause our discomfort and symptoms. On April 16, 2013, we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau concerning our problems with the Tempur-Pedic products. After extensive communications from BBB to Tempur-Pedic, as of June 3, 2013, there has been absolutely no communications from the Tempur-Pedic company in any manner.

I have owned a Rhapsody Tempur-Pedic mattress for 5 years. Based on the recommendation of the store I purchased the mattress from, "Mattress Discounters", I did not buy the Tempur-Pedic platform, and instead simply purchased a sheet of 5/8" thick plywood to lay down over the slats of my box frame foundation support. Apparently, the Tempur-Pedic mattress requires proper fully flat support, having no gaps as with slats for traditional mattress foundation. Plywood support was said to be sufficient to comply with warranty requirements.
After about 4 1/2 years, I started to notice some sag on my side of the bed. After another half year, the bed really started to sag. I followed the warranty instructions for applying for the warranty given; Tempur-Pedic beds should not sag, and was met with rather harsh support feedback. Basically, they said, "No Tempur-Pedic platform, no warranty." This is not what they tell the re-sellers of their mattress, and it is not what their warranty states. Flat, and solid, non-gap spaced platform is suitable. They do not specify you must buy a Tempur platform.
According to instructions of Mattress Discounters, I had built a foundation more than suitable to ensure full continuous stability of the Tempur mattress. However, after 4 1/2 years the mattress sagged badly. The warranty department asked for pictures of the platform after seeing pictures of the sagging, and immediately returned an email saying, "The platform did not meet minimum requirements," and to go out and buy a Tempur-Pedic platform. The warranty was not honored and I was denied a replacement. The bed I have now is no longer usable and based on the fact that Tempur-Pedic will not honor the warranty, I just don't feel comfortable buying another. I'd rather take my chances on another company with history actually fulfilling their warranty promise for defective product.
Buyer beware. $3500 is a lot of money to spend for a product that will go bad after 4 or 5 years. My recommendation for anyone thinking of buying one of these mattresses is to get the warranty requirements in writing and buy everything you are told to in order to comply 100% with exact warranty requirements sold by Tempur-Pedic. Anything else will cost you your investment if and when the mattress goes bad on you.
