What is Helix mattresses?
Helix offers six basic models: the Sunset, Midnight, Twilight, Moonlight, Dusk and Dawn. All hybrid mattresses provide a wide range of firmness levels at various price levels.. These same models have Luxe and Elite versions that are thicker and more comfortable, but are also more expensive. Additional specialty mattresses include the Plus, designed for big and tall sleepers who may require more comfort layers, and the Helix Birch Natural, which is made with organic materials.. The Helix Kids mattress features a flippable design with a firm side and a softer side.
Hybrid mattresses, like those offered by Helix, provide both memory foam for comfort and innersprings for breathability and stability. Helix also sells pillows, bases and bedding. Optional upgrades—such as a cooling cover or high-density foam for better spinal alignment—are available for an additional charge.
Helix mattress comfort
Firmness levels for Helix mattresses range all the way from 2 to 9 on the firmness scale, where 1 is extremely soft and 10 is ultrafirm. Helix has a quiz that asks about your preferred firmness, your height, weight and other details in order to help match you with the right mattress. Its memory foam makes for a comfortable sleep, while cooling technologies help hot sleepers doze more easily. Innersprings provide stability and breathability.
- Firmness: Unless you want an extremely soft or extremely firm mattress, Helix has a mattress that fits your needs.
- Sleeping position: Helix has firmer mattresses that will work best for those on their stomachs, medium mattresses for back sleepers and soft mattresses for side sleepers.
- Motion transfer: Because of the amount of foam in Hybrid mattresses, they are good at absorbing motion.
- Edge support: Helix mattresses have reinforcement in the coil unit, which means they have above-average edge support. This makes Helix mattresses a good choice for couples who want to spread out.
- Sleeping hot: Helix mattresses have cooling features that keep most sleepers comfortable through the night. Helix mattress reviews mention that the softer mattresses offered by Helix can feel a bit warmer.
Helix warranty and return policy
If you're not satisfied with your Helix mattress, you can start a return after a 30-day break-in period. You’re eligible for a full refund if you return the mattress within 100 days following that period. Keep in mind that the company only allows up to two returns per household.
A limited lifetime warranty comes standard on all Helix mattress purchases. During the first 10 years, the company will repair or replace defective mattresses at no cost. From year 11 onward, replacements are available at a prorated charge.
Helix mattress cost
Overall, Helix mattress prices are affordable compared to similar hybrid mattresses. However, prices may be higher than those of standard mattresses.

You can choose a payment plan through Affirm during the checkout process on the Helix website. Note that the 0% APR may be a limited-time introductory rate (e.g., for 18 months) and could increase once that period ends.
Are Helix mattresses good?
Helix is a great option for hybrid mattresses. Regardless of your sleeping position or weight, you can find a mattress that supports you. Helix mattresses are affordably priced compared to brands of similar quality. The Helix mattress topper is an excellent purchase. It conforms to the body, and is firm as well. My sciatica pain has been minimized. This topper provides the best sleep I have had in years. Buying the topper was an intelligent purchase and replaced the need to buy a new mattress.

I have the Elite Plus model with the topper on it. I sleep on my back, and sides. I wake up feeling good and happy every morning. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Plus we sleep at least a third of our lives… so I can justify the price. I also had an issue with my initial order that they took care of. They were professional and nice. My Mom purchased a Helix mattress after I did, and she is very happy! Highly recommend.
Hi Brent. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled to hear the Plus Elite has been such a great fit for both back and side sleeping and that you’re waking up feeling good each morning. We’re also glad our team was able to take care of the issue with your initial order and provide the experience you deserved. And hearing that your mom is now happy with her Helix too makes this even better. We really appreciate the recommendation!

So, I purchased the Twilight Elite firm from Mattress Warehouse. I did so because of the availability and delivery in a couple of business days. Plus they do the delivery and setup for free, plus a $29.99 removal service of your old mattress. The downside is that they'll do a one-time swap, and you can pay the difference, plus a fee. You can't just do a return for something else. Support is handled through Mattress Warehouse.
As for the Helix Twilight Elite Firm, it's a nice mattress. And I believe it's well made. But here has been my results. Knowing I'm a 375lb male, I needed something to support my back. Night one was uncomfortable, nights 2, 3, and 4 were absolutely blissful! But each night since has been disappointing. The back support I felt on nights 2, 3, and 4 is waning. And herein lies the problem. As the foam softens, so does the support. I'm no small guy but I sleep on a Twin XL and back sleep as long as I can before it feels uncomfortable then switch to slide sleep. The side sleep is comfortable, and does allow for contour. But the back sleep is failing so quickly that it's very disappointing.
I mean it's not like I'm 900lbs, I'm 375lbs and it's from being sick and all the meds I have to take have weight gain as an issue - it's because my glucose goes through the roof no matter what. So I was looking for more than I had with a Winkbeds Plus that only lasted about a year or so before my back pain came back. It felt good until it stopped feeling good and it was a very short period of time given the cost. So I figured if I up'd the ante by buying a more expensive brand that started as a mattress for heavy folks, I'd be in good shape. However, if after only 19 days I'm feeling it soften up and lose the support, I can't imagine it's going to be better at day 30.
At this point I'm not sure if I'll switch to the Dawn Elite which is supposedly more firm, or go up the price point to something else. It's disappointing that after spending this much on a mattress that it softened up that much, that I'm not sure if I'm comfortable making that one time switch to another Helix mattress, because I'll be stuck with it. This is a perplexing situation. When you look at the business of mattresses, Helix isn't who they were before. They were bought up by Brooklyn Bedding, who is Cerbeus, and they own a bunch. So what was maybe a different mattress, now is not. Cerbeus owns Serta too. I'm not sure of all of their portfolio, but this in itself should tell you something.
It's so frustrating, you think you are buying something that will help you out, spending 2x over another mattress, and then find it's nothing like you expected. And all of the sleep reviews out there, these people who make money off of reviewing mattresses, they don't have people my size with back trouble doing the reviews. There needs to be a testing process that uses much heavier people and they can confirm whether or not these hold up to the real life use of a heavier sleeper. I don't consider people who are 250lbs heavy, they are pretty much an average middle age male weight.
My advice is that if you are going to try the Helix line of mattresses, buy direct. This arrangement of being married to the retailer and what they offer, and limited one time swap with a fee, well that isn't the right thing for the consumer. And the only way you are going to know if this works out is to buy and try. I've become very wary of the mattress industry at this point and just not sure what I'm going to do going forward. And I've done my research.

Reviewed many mattresses online for the best one for side sleepers. Our current mattress was sagging and needed to replace it. Looked online at several reviews and Helix kept coming up as number 1 best mattress. They have a good trial period and warranty. Like the idea of hybrid having better support. Hoping this is a heavenly sleep mattress!

Got a chance to try one in person at a Levin and that instantly put it in the lead. We were considering mattress in a box style beds because none of the general store brands were comfortable for both of us (me: soft, my wife: firm). We considered Sleep Number, but concerns about mold from leakage turned us off. We seriously considered Tempurpedic, and tried them in-store, but while the mattress was extremely comfortable for both of us, the price point was too drastically inflated for the marginal, if any, advantage over Helix. The website's discount code was the final deciding factor. Can't wait to swap out our old uncomfortable mattress.
