If I were rating my experience based on my transactions with Marcia **, Canada Concierge Agent, I would be giving a five star. She has been very helpful and prompt in responding to my queries. Working with her has overcome my frustration with the website. I was really tempted to just giving up trying to buy something through DB. It's a good thing the Concierge Service is there to pick up where the website falls down.
I am however only giving a three star rating because the website is full of inconsistencies and inaccuracies. For example, I now know that the Bosch 800 series with model numbers starting with NIT are all induction cooktops but if I do a search on the DB website, only one is listed as an induction cooktop and all the others as electric cooktops. It's only when you actually follow the link for each cooktop, do you eventually find out that they are induction. This is not very useful and the whole site is full of similar instances.

I am very disappointed in DirectBuy. Of the past ten years I've seen all the high end brand's leave DirectBuy. Thermador, Fisher & Paykel etc... are no longer available. Why exactly am I paying to get standard brands. I am currently re-doing the kitchen and find myself shopping at local stores for the products I want yet they used to be available. You have Bosch products but Thermador is own by Bosch and I can't get that line of products. This is getting more and more frustrating. Will DirectBuy be getting back actual high-end brands or have I been wasting my money for the past ten years?

When I was building a house, I thought DirectBuy would be a good way to save money. I’ve been their member for 20 years now and I’ve purchased appliances, furniture, lighting, bathroom fixtures, flooring, kitchen design cabinets, and all kinds of household stuff. I've been dealing with them a lot lately especially with the rebuilding that I'm doing and the staff at the place I go to are all very good. They're very helpful, answer my questions and look things up for me. Before I go down there, I do a lot of fair looking online at home and check other pricing elsewhere. It is usually a distinct advantage and occasionally, I'll find something on sale that’s better or close to it. I'm saving money with them and the purchasing experience is good. I’d tell anyone who asks me that DirectBuy is worth it if they’re going to be refurnishing, rebuilding or doing a renovation and buying a lot of stuff.

I was building a house and back then, DirectBuy's membership fee was hard to choke on because it was huge. way back then. It was really tough to handle but I knew what I was doing and I knew I would get it back as paid back in my appliances. It ends up being the same thing. Now, they are doing sort of a yearly thing. The savings were incredible. I bought a ton of stuff from DirectBuy like appliances, Hunter Douglas and Shadeomatic blinds, all of my cooler, plumbing fixtures throughout the house, my light fixtures, bathtub and toilet.
The quality is great. I haven't done cabinetry yet but I'm going to be remodeling our house that I have in a different city. I've started that and I plan on doing cabinets through DirectBuy. I have had problems with my last order because one but a box was lost and everybody has been amazing. They have requisitioned a new one from the manufacturer and it is on its way. So for renovations or building a new house, totally, absolutely get DirectBuy. The people I've worked with have been fantastic. Any questions that I've had have been answered. I'd do it all over again if I was building another house even if I didn't have a DirectBuy membership.

I have been a DirectBuy member for 17 years and I’ve had excellent experience with them. I always purchase some household things and ever since, they’ve been reasonably priced better than retail. And their merchandise also has excellent quality. I would recommend them.

We had gotten a card from DirectBuy in the mail over five years ago, and we thought that it'd be a good thing to go through the direct manufacturer than through the store. We've bought a washing machine, a dishwasher and fans from them, and we've also had flooring done. Our buying experience was fantastic. We're very happy with the quality of their products and the cost is great too.
The only problem I had with them was when I got my dishwasher, there were no hoses and no electric cord to it. That surprised me because when we had gotten a new dishwasher in Temecula, we had the hoses. There was also no padding and it was completely out of the box when it was delivered. The delivery guys were just in and out and they were so quick about it. They just said to look around it, and I looked at it and I checked if there were any scratches, then they left. Other than that, overall it was a very good experience. We've really been happy with DirectBuy and I will continue to use them for anything we need.

we were charged extra fees/taxes in order to receive our order delivered to our home by FedEx. I called and gave the info to DirectBuy who said they would turn it over to a special dept. I got called within the hour by Diane who straightened out the billing issue right away. Our credit card was credited a day or two later. Very fast and efficient resolution of the problem. I appreciate that.

I've been a member of DirectBuy since five years ago when we remodeled our house. The purchasing experience was good though I liked it better when we had a store and I could go in and look. The website wasn't as friendly at first but I also like it because I can call them and they will help me look at stuff. Whereas in the store, if you went in and they were busy, you would have to wait. But overall, I have been really pleased with DirectBuy. That was where I got the flooring, the dishwasher, the stove and two tables. I got the first table ordered then my son got a new house and I gave him that one. I also got a bunk bed, a shower, a bathtub, two shower heads, earrings and a backpack. My biggest purchase was the kitchen cabinets. I've checked around comparing the cost to the quality and my brother, who put my cabinets in, said I've got some good cabinets.

We had gone through one of the open houses where DirectBuy was featured and we decided to join. The startup fee was $3,000 a month and it is quite high. I've had them for seven years now and since our membership, we've had many floorings, bathrooms, furniture, and dishes from them. We also got a washer and a dryer. It's easy to buy from them and the sales have been good lately. Too bad, we haven't bought as much or find some of what is called exclusives but we have found cheaper offers just in the last year or so. I also found out I'd have a good price when shipping is added and we have found it cheaper to go through a local business.
The quality of the products is usually amazing. But there were products that had stains since we purchased and there has been a couple of things we had to return. The replacement process worked great and I hope it would be again since there's one chair in the dining room set that we are unable to use as it had a problem when we were screwing the leg in.

You have to try DirectBuy. You're a fool if you're not a member. I've been a DirectBuy member since about 15 years ago when we bought a new home and had no furniture. I've done three kitchens and furnished four of our homes using our membership, and the quality of the products and the cost are excellent. However, I wish DirectBuy would bring back the showroom because I preferred that over going online. Other than that, I'd help my friends go to the website and tell them to find the product that they really love, see the price and compare.

I used to go to the DirectBuy Baton Rouge location to purchase my products and when they closed that down, I had to start picking them up in Hammond, Louisiana. After that, they had just one area, so then my stuff was shipped to me. Back then, I would get online but I’d have to have an order form that I had to fax to them, then I’d have to turn around and call them back and they would take my information and credit card. I have ordered commodes, lavatories, a stove and a head bed from them. I have a refrigerator on order right now and I can’t get it until February, even though I have it paid for now. They usually deliver very quickly but this ref is on back order from the company and they won’t have it ready until February the eight and that doesn’t mean it’ll be in then. But they’ve been very good. Also, their cost has improved and it’s a lot better now. I like the way it’s set up now better than any of the other ways.

We anticipated building a house and DirectBuy seemed economically feasible. I've been a member for 11 years. We did windows, doors, tiles, carpets, porcelain fixtures like sinks, toilets, shingles, furniture, beds, and barbecue grills. We did every single appliance in our kitchen like ovens, sinks, compactors. My experience with them was wonderful. I am a technical individual and I enjoyed going through the catalogs and picking up the samples of fabric. Even though there were a lot of numbers involved and intricate looks in the catalogs, I didn’t find that to be troubling at all.
But DirectBuy did away with their offices, their showrooms, and the personnel that man them, and that has been quite a disappointment. For example, we wanted to buy a king size mattress and we wound up with one that was firm where we’re asking for one that was the middle grade. Once we received it, we didn’t like it. We had to spend $300 to buy a foam pad to go on top of it. Previously, when we’d buy something, we were always satisfied with it. We had visual pictures along with the fabric that we could touch. Using the website tells you about the pricing but there’s no dimensional information. The frustration is I stand six foot five. When I want to buy a couch or a chair, I want to know how deep or how long it is from where the back of your knees is to your spine.
I don’t want the recliner to hit me in the middle of my lower leg. I want it to be at my heels and things like that don’t show on the website. If I were to talk to an individual, they may not have that resource at their disposal. We’ve made a mistake of buying some inexpensive furniture, turned around and discovered that we definitely need to go to a higher quality as far as the cost is concerned. Sometimes, we have large furniture distribution centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We’ll go find the furniture and showroom somewhere, and then approach DirectBuy to see what the difference would be in pricing. I always brag on DirectBuy and told friends that they need to be sincere if they're interested in being a member because the initial cost is substantial. But if they’re going to buy major components, DirectBuy is the best way to go and that they would see a reward for it in the form of 30% to 40% savings.

I've been a DirectBuy member for 25 years and I was one of the original members. I just bought a new bedroom set from them and I’m going to have a dining room set delivered next week. I bought my lighting from them when I built my house and I bought a carpet too. What I don’t like is that they don’t have any pilot stores anymore where you can go in and see the catalogs. Everything is online now and that makes it harder for me. I used to like to have the catalogs on the counter and see the different manufacturers and compare.
Another problem is that, before, they have a list of people that would install carpets and stuff. Now, you’re left on your own. I asked, “Do you have anybody you recommend”. They said, “No, we have no list.” So that’s no help because, at my current house, which is 9 years old, I would like to replace some of the carpets. For new people, I don’t know if they would be as cooperative to even join. I don’t know the clauses because I saw that I could give a gift of $299 dollars to sign up, and I know it was thousands before, so what’s the catch, it’s limited?
The last delivery I had, I was not familiar with the delivery options and I had paid for white glove, which I didn’t know the difference between one and the other. The moving company said, “Well, for $100 dollars, I can take it apart, and put it in a place” and I said, “I thought that’s what I got.” They said, “No, it would have been a lot more expensive”. So I gave him $100 dollars and had him do it.
Now that they partnered with the credit card company that does loans, people don’t have the cash to pay upfront so that made it nice. I know what to ask now, but people didn’t know how to handle it because they were new and that’s not an excuse. I went through seven calls before I finally got the application completed, and then when I went to call to say, “Okay it’s completed, what’s the credit card number?” They said, “I don’t know, I thought they contacted you”. I had to call back again and get all that information. There wasn’t a lot of communication even on their end and they didn’t know what to say. With my last two orders, I learned all the new stuff. To me, DirectBuy is not what it used to be.
The products are the reason I’m happy with DirectBuy. You know what you’re getting, you go to the store and see it, it’s just that there are some things you can’t actually see. I never bought anything that I couldn’t see, except for the faucets and the things for the bathroom. I would recommend DirectBuy because I save a lot of money, but you have to know what you’re doing too and it’s not that simple.

Crystal has been an absolute delight to work with. I did not originally start with Crystal. Due to circumstances I was not made aware, I had extreme difficulties connecting with my original designer at a time that I felt was critical to my kitchen design/ordering. Crystal picked up my project and began at the beginning. Initially, I didn't want to re-invent the entire project, but her experience drove her to insist that we begin at the beginning. In so doing, we uncovered some errors which would have caused problems come installation time. Crystal was able to advise me in things I needed to know, not necessarily what I wanted to hear.
One such example was to wait to order cabinets AFTER foundation had been poured and walls erected. As it turned out there WAS a mistake in the foundation. Her professional experience likely saved me a tremendous headache. She is also good about returning calls. More and more I am experiencing difficulties in hearing back from DirectBuy representative in a timely manner.
We are just now texturing walls. We will begin painting Monday and cabinet installation the following week. Cabinets were delivered yesterday. I phoned Crystal for coaching on receiving process. As it turns out, there are a few items missing. Just forwarded the inventory to Crystal. I am confident she will direct me through this bump in the process with the high level of customer satisfaction which I have come to expect from her.

I had noticed that DirectBuy carried Tumi products. So, I contacted DirectBuy about the Tumi Double Expansion Sachel in navy/black. Jennifer is the agent who interacted with me and Tumi. She was persistent in tracking down and interacting with the Tumi representative who could decide whether the product I was requesting could be ordered through DirectBuy. As it turned out, Jennifer was able to obtain a lower price for the product I was seeking than what DirectBuy had advertised on its website. I expect that the product quality from Tumi will be great as always; so I really appreciate the persistence, timeliness, and follow-through that Jennifer showed on this order for me.

I was doing a large condo renovation and I decided to become a DirectBuy member. The membership fee was very reasonably priced. We primarily did flooring and cabinets with them and our purchasing experience was very easy and pleasant. They delivered the products to my house, which worked out okay. And the quality of their items is very good. If one is doing large projects, DirectBuy is definitely worth considering. They have a wide variety of products to meet the consumer's needs at very reasonable pricing.

I joined DirectBuy in 2003. It seemed interesting. When I joined the show I heard I could buy top-end products at a good price. I've had DirectBuy's service from appliances to flooring to lighting. I went to their office and we ordered a few times online, but most of the time we go to the store. Sometimes it’s confusing with the pricing as to Canadian money and US money. So if we have some questions, the people working there are very good and they’ll get us the answer.
I would tell others to go ahead with DirectBuy. Especially now, to join the membership, it’s nothing compared to three years ago. It was almost $6,000 to join. People have to know what they want to buy. By doing their homework before buying, then they would know what they're getting. We’ve been treated very fairly by DirectBuy and the quality of their products is good. Everything was what we paid for and that was what we expected to have.

My concierge rep, Lorene **, was extremely helpful. I was ordering while in the car and did not have the order form with me. Lorene was very patient and friendly as she walked me through the various options for each blind. Excellent customer service is no longer the norm in many instances, but Lorene was great!

My husband, Dale, came home one day from work and told me he was interested in joining DirectBuy and he wanted us to check it out. I wasn’t too sure about the whole idea because we had to sit through the meeting. During the meeting, they showed us comparisons of what we pay in a store compared to what we can get there. So it took out the middle man which was absolutely appealing to us. Anytime we can save money, we appreciate it. And by the time the meeting was over, we were totally sold. It was a great experience from the rate down to the staff and warehouse. The people have been so helpful and so accommodating and we're happy with it. The guys in the west end of Edmonton helped me out over and above, right down to helping me put things in the car even if it’s something small.
When we buy a product, we usually check out what we want first and go to different furniture stores. We go to Ashley and whatever they have there, we could also get at DirectBuy for about a third of the price. But it's not quite as easy as it used to be, but not bad at all. We haven't made any purchases where we had to go to the store itself recently but we're planning on getting a new carpet down the stairs and hire somebody to put them on the stairs. I had MS so I fall quite easily and I fell down not too long ago so the carpeting will help.
We’ve been a member for 5 years and we have definitely used our membership. We bought a bedroom suite for ourselves and it’s amazing. It's the most ornate bedroom suite I've ever owned in my life. Also, our dining room set probably would have been about $25,000 in a normal store but we got it under 9. I’ve set up our dining room and it’s breathtakingly beautiful. It's heavy and it's solid. The dining room used to be our living room because there’s 20 of us now. We did our bathroom upstairs as well and all products were bought from DirectBuy. We purchased a lot. And the quality of the products we've been buying has by far surpassed our expectation.
I always sing praises to DirectBuy because it was one of the best moves we ever did. It has been amazing. To buy in was costly but the renewal of the membership isn’t costly and not bad at all. I'm glad that my husband is a physician so that we can afford things like that. I've never been disappointed with DirectBuy even with that one bedroom set that I bought for my two grandsons wherein it fell apart quite quickly. It was like pressed together wood. But, I'm sure it's just because we low-balled it a little bit too much. And my grandsons are very young and rough on the furniture so it showed but I’ve replaced the furniture with a DirectBuy furniture.

I’ve been a DirectBuy member for four years now but my family has been members since 1999. The cost and quality of the products that I bought from them, from pillows to appliances, were very good. DirectBuy's products range from all over. But, not everything is available online so sometimes I have to go into one of the stores to purchase. Their website could use a little more detail on the products. They're going off of very generic photos and descriptions, and it’s hard to determine which exact product would suit me best. I would recommend DirectBuy if the initiation cost is still reasonable. People need to do their research, but it can save them a lot of money.

Unfortunately my Sony TV was defective after powering on. Sony required a copy of the bill of sale before authorizing a product exchange. Audrey provided this promptly via email after a pleasant phone call. She was a pleasure to work with even under these circumstances.

I significantly reduced my purchases after the first two years because of the lack of service but with the last two orders I think I will be returning to my old levels. I run a small business and I was interested in buying some of the products that DirectBuy had for better deals. I've been a member since 2006 and I've bought kitchen cabinets, ceramic tiles, fridge, stove, and all kinds of appliances from them. Nobody could match their prices and the products I got from them were of excellent quality. I would tell others to go ahead and be a member, too. It's expensive but if they're going to do major renovations, it's worth the while and the money.
I bought the items mostly direct at their design center here in Ottawa and I like the one-on-one with the people there. I saw their products through the internet and I didn't see them upfront but the reps there had a bit of experience, so they knew what I was looking for and it helped. My experience with DirectBuy has been great so far, but sometimes, their suppliers are not loyal. Plus, the parts and units do not come in on time. I bought a couch in 2016 and six months passed but I still haven't received it. The supplier kept pushing the delivery and DirectBuy never gave me a straight answer since they didn't know anything.

We were looking for furniture and DirectBuy was like one of those awful timeshare sale things where if you don't buy this tonight, you never come back and do it again. It was high pressure and we caved. We don't regret buying but we regret in the manner that it was done. I understand it's not done that way anymore, so that's good.
We've been members for a few years now and we've bought furniture, tiles, carpets, draperies and lighting fixtures. Recently, we bought a washer dryer and that was my first experience with the new revised DirectBuy. I ordered a washer dryer at 5:00 o'clock in the morning and it was so easy. I spoke with this lovely lady down in southern United States and she helped me out. We had done some comparative shopping and we saved almost $800 dollars so we were very pleased. Once we got the discount, the cost made it reasonable. But before the discount, it was unreasonable or beyond our limit.
We also liked that they didn't list every brand and just had Whirpool washer dryers. So they gave us a few choices and that made it easier to buy. We didn't have to spend days and hours researching because we knew they used the top of the line stuff. There were some sad things are about the transition though. They've lost some of their better suppliers but those might come back with time.
When I was trying to phone back to know the status of our delivery, I got this fellow who didn't know very much. He was quite new on the job and he was going to put me on to the concierge. But he came back on and acted like the concierge because he couldn't find their number. There was a lot of confusion about the number and the one I phoned turned out to be the travel DirectBuy and they couldn't give me any other number. Finally I got this nice concierge lady in Ontario who helped me out. Other than the number that was listed and wasn't right, everything went fine. The washer dryer was delivered but we didn't know that Whirlpool would deliver so we had it brought to the DirectBuy in Coquitlam, British Colombia and got it ourselves. We wish that we hadn't done that because it was really heavy. So if somebody could tell you there is delivery service, that would be good to do.
In retrospect, we're glad that we're members. Everybody's been really nice and now I have quite a different story than when we first joined. Before, we felt that pressure and $5,000 was what it cost back in the day to join, which was a lot of money. But now you can join per year for $231. We're also really happy with the recent changes. They cut back the branches and focused on service and it's going very well. I'd recommend DirectBuy now. We saved 40% on our tiles and you should do it if you are doing any reno. The quality of the products is superior too.

Chairs were ordered in June. In late July two chairs were delivered. One was damaged and returned the same day. Despite contacting them 16 times, and many assurances that this issue would be resolved. The replacement still has not been delivered. Way back when I had a farm and built a house there, we joined DirectBuy for all the flooring, kitchen cabinets and basically everything in the house. I knew about them through friends about 14 years ago and over the following years I purchased a lot; hardwood flooring, tiles, closets, toilets and all the appliances. But it's been a while since I've used it. Purchasing back in the days, it was still magazines that customers had to view. It wasn't all online yet.
So we go in, and the staff was always excellent. Like for the kitchen, we'd get together with our kitchen planner. And they work out a plan, come measure everything up and they put us in touch with the cabinet people, the granite people, or the sink people. Everybody was great. And the quality of the products is really good. Though sometimes customers get the wrong item shipped in. I don't think it was really DirectBuy's fault. And that's all changed now because we don't actually have to go to the club to pick everything up.
Now, I’ve also gone through their website. It's quite a setup, easy to navigate. Once we got a divorce, I set up my own account and I've been looking at it a lot because I just purchased a little farm. So, I'll be using it a lot again in the next little while. They have a lot of items for certain things and with others, they tend to be limited to one or two brands but there's still choice. Plus, all it takes really is one purchase to keep the membership. Like buying a hot tub, it pretty much eats the whole membership fee upon registration. I've been dormant for a while but I have no problem paying their $20 a year to keep it going. I highly recommend DirectBuy and I always tell my friends that if they're making any big purchases to take a look.

I’ve been a member of DirectBuy for many years due to the savings that we could get from shopping. I also used to drive by there quite often. We’ve made tons of purchases as we furnished the entire house and remodeled our bathroom. We’re in the process right now of remodeling the kitchen plus numerous other things such as gifts for people.
When I first bought my first item, the vast amount of product that was available and having to make a decision which one you want, was shocking. When I go to one of the shops, we have all these companies to choose from and all of their products. The problem we have is not purchasing something, it’s what to purchase. It was a big surprise when I'm used to shopping at a place like Sears or Walmart and I see what selection they have. All of a sudden, I now have access to those companies that put their stuff on the shelves and then we go to the higher quality items but still save money. For example, we were shopping for a dining room furniture. We went to Ashley Furniture in-store and they have a table for $1,200 plus tax. Then I go on to DirectBuy, I got the exact same item for $600 and tax although they're the exact same thing.
Before we joined, they gave me an introductory and they talked to me about what I saw and what DirectBuy had to offer. But before that, we went to a furniture store here in town and looked at what they had. Then, we went to DirectBuy. In the franchise that was opened, the theater chair was for almost $900, but in DirectBuy, it was $265. The whole experience has been pleasant. Through the years, we’ve had some problems with the items that were shipped. My wife bought me a cherry desk and it arrived here broken. We could tell that it was broken right from the factory since there were no pieces in the crate that it was shipped in. I made a call at DirectBuy and they said that they would replace it free of charge. A week later, the new desk showed up.
The people at DirectBuy were very nice and very helpful. When I bought my KitchenAid appliance for my kitchen, there was nowhere in any information online that says I had to purchase additional items. I called their service, and the girl I was dealing with was nice. She alerted me that I needed to purchase a tourniquet for our wall oven which I would never have known about that. My contractor could have arrived to put the wall oven in and I would have had a brand new kitchen, but there could have been a gap between the cabinet and the oven. Overall it has been a good experience dealing with DirectBuy, either in-store, online chat or even calling through their service line, and I have already recommended them to various people.

I was doing major renovations to my home and decided to go see what DirectBuy had to offer. I've been a member for 8 years now and have purchased flooring, windows, and appliances. Plus, they've redesigned our kitchen for us. With their website, I find purchasing better now. I am able to get more delivered to my home. It saves me about $50 worth of gas as I live in Cornwall, Ontario which is about an hour’s drive to go and pick stuff up. The quality of their products is excellent and they don’t sell junk. In addition, the service has been very good, especially when following up on a purchased item that was slow to arrive. I'd recommend joining if one is doing a major renovation.

We had a local store and we went to their presentation. It was very, very informative. Sadly enough, we had already bought our house and we had already done the renovations and updating. So the reason I became a member of DirectBuy was that my husband said he was going to buy a new truck. And they partnered with the dealership that was going to allow us to save about $4,000. That's how we got in, even though my husband didn't buy the truck.
So far, my purchasing experience has been good. At times though, it's a little hard and I wish that there would be better descriptions. I had to call in on one because you assume one thing and that's not good, I've learned that through experience. Good thing, the people on the other line were very helpful because I bought a mattress and I didn't know if I needed the box spring. Their representative was able to tell me, no, and that's cool. Otherwise, I would have bought one and that would really upset me.
Additionally, the quality has been very good. Aside from purchasing a sofa, the room set for my son, which I bought years ago is still standing. So is the bedroom set that I purchased for him too. I also bought a washer and a dryer, which I'm still using. And I know, for example, we bought a television but we got it from Best Buy and I would have saved $800 since DirectBuy had the same exact television. But my husband is my obstacle. He needed the television now, not in six days or weeks. So, I just don't involve him when I do my thing. Hopefully, I'd get my kitchen re-done and I'm just waiting for DirectBuy to give me the amount.
Another thing, I've not purchased certain things because the freight cost is outrageous. And I bit a bullet on a couple of them because when you're buying an item, the cost, for example, is $300. But to ship it, it's going to be $254. That's insane because then at that point you're going to ask if I was really saving that much. There was some decor that I really liked. It was a fish that I had on my wishlist for a long time. I even put it in my cart. But I was going to pay $120 and the fish was only $34. And you don't find it out until you hit the check-out. Overall, if a friend would ask about DirectBuy, I'd say the savings are there but they just have to be patient.

I bought an old house at an auction and I didn’t realize the house was rotten so I got involved with DirectBuy to offset some of the construction costs from rebuilding part of the house that was rotting. So I’ve been a member of DirectBuy since ’07 and while that cost me a few thousand dollars, we got that back. We tried to work the system and when I was redoing that house, I purchased a lot of plumbing, piping, valves and fittings. I also tried to use some of the contractors that they do business with, and we also bought furniture and water heaters. We also joined DirectBuy Travel a year ago and we tried to squeeze whatever we can out of that group as well.
My wife’s very particular when she buys something. She spent $300 on two lamps that were crystal and pretty, and I don’t know many people who would pay $300 for a lamp but she did and the quality of the products has been excellent. The prices are good as well. The last purchase she made was for leather sofas for $5,000. The purchase order was placed on the 16th of October for one sofa and two love seats but they delivered one sofa and one love seat on the 18th of November even though the warehouse received the shipment of three pieces on the 2nd of November. We put a search on the other love seat and what transpired was not appropriate. I made a couple dozen phone calls to DirectBuy and apparently, there was some difficulty in the communication. Their employees were all so apologetic but I just wanted the sofa and all I could say was for them to get it fixed.
We as a team tried to get to the bottom of it and I finally had to talk to some upper management people and do a little bit of bellyaching. One of their managers was told that they shipped my sofa back to North Carolina. It had been in the warehouse for 42 days and nobody seemed to have seen this lovely grey leather sofa recliner that weighs 300 pounds. A day before yesterday the shipping group put a team out in the warehouse, and lo and behold, they found the sofa. The manager with DirectBuy was still under the impression that the furniture had been shipped back to North Carolina so he went through his resources and they confirmed that it hadn't. They were fed some more bogus information.
After a number of emails and some stern language, I got a call yesterday confirming that the sofa was in the warehouse. They took a picture of it and they want to deliver it Monday. It was not a pretty picture but any time you’re dealing with a human, something can go wrong. We were caught up in a bad loop but we've potentially gotten to the end of it if in fact they deliver that on Monday, which is encouraging.
Once they got seriously hard fussed at, they seemed to snap in line, trying to get something done. So after 42 days of looking for a 300-pound sofa, it was obvious somebody either had their eyes closed or they elected not to look. We wanted the furniture for Thanksgiving but we missed that so that’s another human tragedy but we’ll get over it. But if I had a legitimate bellyache relative to DirectBuy, it was their lack of being able to return a phone call. That can, at the bottom line, really piss a good man off. Despite that, I’ve recommended DirectBuy to almost anybody.

We were planning to do some improvements on our home and my husband thought it would be worth the investment to be a member of DirectBuy. We've been with them for about 12 years. We did a landscaping project and built a new deck, and we got the materials for the deck through DirectBuy. We’ve also remodeled our kitchen and all of the appliances came from them.
Buying from them has been very easy to do and I got so much help from the store. But they no longer have their nearby store open so I just ship via online when I need something. This year, we’ve done some remodeling in the rest of my house. It’s been very easy getting a chandelier and carpeting. I also got draperies from them, but I'm upset about a coffee table that I ordered in August and it has not yet arrived. But I think the problem is with the company that makes the tables. I’ve been very happy with DirectBuy. We even enjoyed going to the store and talking to people there because we were asking for advice even when we weren’t going to buy things. Being a DirectBuy member is a big investment but if you got a big project or a number of projects lined up for the next few years, it’s going to be well worth it.

They contacted the seller and she was able to get answer that the company had discontinue the sofa, but still had available stock for sale. I have always had a great experience with DirectBuy. I purchase mostly furniture and they are of great quality. If it wasn't, I wouldn't even continue to buy. However, this last purchase, I bought a chest and before I bought it, I spoke with their customer service representative and asked, “When they deliver it, will they be able to place it in the room that I need it in?” And she said yes. But when they delivered the chest, they dropped it off in the kitchen. They told my daughter that they were not to take it upstairs, it was not their responsibility and the order only said just leave it be.
I called DirectBuy and they said that my daughter told them to leave it right there, which is a lie because she was here to make sure that they take it upstairs. I got a text from them saying they'll come out and I hope that they come out and place it where it needs to be because I’m paying $110 for delivery. And I will have to pay someone else to bring it up to where it needs to go since I definitely can’t pick that up. Other than that, DirectBuy has so much stuff, it gets overwhelming to find out what you want. So what I do is I normally shop in the store and I’ll get the brand name. And if I like it, I’ll write it down. Then I’ll go in DirectBuy and then I’ll put in what I wanted to specifically look for. Overall, if you want a discount, go DirectBuy.

We love DirectBuy and we’ve been members for a very long time. We joined them when they first came to our area. We've used them for a lot of stuff when we were remodeling. We bought a lot of things at the beginning. We also go in occasionally when we buy a big ticket item and we look for it on DirectBuy first. The quality of the products was absolutely perfect. A friend told me about DirectBuy and I've been a member for a couple of months but I haven't bought anything because they're not saving me money anywhere. I was looking at doing a cabinet project in my kitchen and the total price was higher than expected and the installation was definitely through the roof at that price. I can get the cabinets with the same quality at a different place for a cheaper price. They didn't have what I wanted and the designer at Division-9 was supposed to get back with me on custom making the cabinet but I haven't heard from her in about two weeks. I had to call and leave messages so I wasn't impressed with that whole situation at all. I also looked at some of the tiles and the price was really high too and the selection wasn't very good.
Their website has medium difficulty in terms of navigating through it. There's so much information there when going through the catalogs and different companies but from what I hear, it's better than it used to be. Also, I was able to call and get instructions on what I needed to do to find stuff so that was good. The introductory price I got for membership for the first year was worth it. I can see some discounts if you're going to do some major purchasing so I would recommend it.

I was having some problems getting an accurate response from the shipping company as to the location of my items. Valerie with DirectBuy helped by communicating with the shipping warehouse to locate all my items and arrange so I could pick them up at Will Call. I was hoping the shipping company would deliver the items to me but I could not get on the schedule in time to receive the items before Christmas. A huge inconvenience as it will take a full day of travel to retrieve my items, but it was the only reasonable solution.

I’ve been a member of DirectBuy for almost 10 years. I liked their promotions. We’ve purchased mostly furniture and some cooking stuff. However, the purchasing experience with DirectBuy is difficult for me. They’re selling furniture in pieces. At the beginning, I didn’t know I can choose individually but if I wanted to buy a set it’s hard. They also don’t have a Chinese service. I’m not born in Canada so I don’t know lots of good brands but now I found a saleslady who could speak Chinese in Markham, not in Mississauga. I would rather drive 60 kilometers every Saturday to go ask her in person.
There are two things that DirectBuy has to work out. First, it is hard to return the things because you buy directly from the manufacturer. Second, sometimes when you see the color on the computer, it might be different even in the catalog. But I tell my friends I like DirectBuy. You can never buy something at a lower price than this. You could buy the same price if you can find a bargain on Christmas or Black Friday. If you need this and you don’t have time to search, DirectBuy is a good place you can go to because it is guaranteed at a lower price. The quality of the items is also good. Sometimes you pay the lower price but you get good quality.

We were building a house and we like the better quality products from DirectBuy for the same price. So, we got windows, doors, some furniture, appliances, flooring, and tiles from them. When we first joined, it was like we were on our own and nobody was there to help us, even in the warehouse. We had to go in and they showed us how to fill out the sheet and we had to look through the catalog and find what we needed. But now, I find it a lot easier. If you go in and give them an idea of what you want, they’ll help you design and find things. You can also call and ask for anything and they can help.
However, they should know better when someone orders something custom. They should double-check. When I purchased some cabinetry, I gave my kid’s closet dimension to the cabinet designer. They had normal 6 foot, 8 doors, and he designed them 8 feet tall. When it got to our house I couldn’t even fit them in the closet. I paid $5,000 for that. It’s a massive expense and the designer was there for a reason. He said I should just chop them down and to me, that is not okay.
Also, there were a few things that I saw that were really not much of a saving because you could find them online on sale for around the same. But overall, the cost is good and I’ve saved about $1,000 for every appliance. DirectBuy is really worth it if you’re doing a big project. We paid around $7,000 and it was a lot more back then, but the membership prices are cheap now that even just one appliance, it will pay for itself.

Toni helped us get a replacement part for a broken rocker recliner. First she helped us identify the manufacturer. Then, after looking at pictures and talking with the manufacturer, she helped us order and pay for the replacement part. This took a few days. During that time, she kept us informed about what was going on and kept checking in with us. She made me feel like I was her only customer. The chair has been repaired and all is well. We had good service from Toni at DirectBuy.

I have been member of DirectBuy for 15 years now. Initially, I had heard about a buying club in US for some time so when I saw something about this buying club, DirectBuy, bypassing the distributors and retails, we went to the meeting to see what it’s like and joined for the savings. But the membership is not cheap especially at the beginning because you pay upfront for three years. Later on, it’s an annual fee. So you need to think about it to make sure that what you pay, you’re going to get back in savings.
Based on what kind of purchases you are likely to make in the next three years, you can decide whether it’s worthwhile. On smaller items, there’s not a lot of savings. When you add the handling fee and shipping or freight, sometimes the price difference is not that big. But on big items, there is a big price difference. The quality is the same as available in regular stores too.
Two years ago, we did a major renovation of the house which took four months so whatever we needed, I was able to get from DirectBuy. I've purchased all kinds of appliances, major and small ones, and the experience has been generally good although we had a few hiccups. In a couple of cases, I had to cancel the order because the supplier could not deliver in a reasonable time. With DirectBuy, there’s nothing in stock so all the orders go directly to the manufacturers. In another case, the stuff came broken but DirectBuy handled it very nicely and dealt with the manufacturer. The staff at the Ottawa club is really helpful as well. They go out of their way to help and make sure that we are happy. The rest is up to the manufacturer, the head office accounting and so on and so forth.

I was a DirectBuy member 10 years ago and my membership lapsed. Then I restarted my membership this year since they had a promotional rate and didn't have a huge reinitiation fee like they used to. I bought furniture from them online and had a very good experience. But I liked the old-school way where you went in a showroom and they had every manufacturer's catalog on the wall, as well as samples of the wood cabinets, the hardwood floors and the carpets. Buying online is different than physically looking at the catalogs.
It could also be a little better if they could load the catalogs more with their products, and all the pieces under a collection are in the system and correctly put together. Sometimes, I look at a specific collection for a brand of furniture and it'll show four to five pieces. But if I'll search a different way, I'll just get the old pieces. Then, sometimes I'll go in and I'll see only two pieces under that collection. So the search criteria doesn't work very well with the way of putting it in the system. And it's a little bit of a hassle trying to figure out the prices of the products. I've seen two LG TVs but I'm not going to call in and get the right price. So that's the downside of their online system.
Then I have one piece delivered that was damaged and DirectBuy is handling that. I took some pictures of it and sent it back. It's a little bit of an inconvenience but they were very good about handling the issue with the shipping company or the vendor to get a replacement with no fuss on my part. If you're purchasing furniture like kitchen cabinets, DirectBuy is worth it. But if you are going to buy a TV, I'd say not because the profit margin on TVs are small.

I remodeled my house and went from eggshell leather interior to a brown interior. I also bought shades for my bedroom and put all wooden blinds in. I purchased all that from DirectBuy and they're pretty nice quality. I also got a TV from them recently as well as some gifts for family members and friends. I usually use them depending on what time of the year it is or what’s going on in my life. However, they don’t have the showroom here and the nearest one is in Nashville. I would rather them have a showroom like they once did in my location.
The quality of their products is mostly good and the only thing that I had a problem with was when I first joined. I bought a new car back then and I wanted to get some custom tires and rims. They were high dollar custom car tires and rims for a BMW and they were right at $6,000. DirectBuy said they could get them at half price, which was about $2,500, so I said I would join. But they never got them and that was the worst. When I went to complain, the owners sold that franchise to someone else. I was pretty hot and I wanted my money back but they didn’t want to give it back. They offered me 50% off anything over $2,000 and I purchased another TV. In fact, I purchased two flat screen TVs back in 2007. But those rims still burn me up because that was the only reason I joined.

This is the first and hopefully the last time that I suffered frustration with getting an item from DirectBuy as other items have always arrived ahead of dates given. Trying to get through to MDX and not receiving a call back from them was beyond frustrating and is an issue that needs to be addressed.

We have been DirectBuy members since 2008. We have building a new home and the build timeline was severely delayed at the last minute delayed due to factors out of our control. Having already ordered all the flooring and other finishes, they arrived at the DB warehouse, but we had nowhere to store them on our site. Misti was very flexible in allowing us to store the flooring at the warehouse without charging storage fees. She has also been extremely helpful in getting replacement orders processed for items that arrived damaged. I am happy to recommend DirectBuy to friends without reservation. The customer service from Misti in particular has been outstanding.

I was about to start building a house and the kitchen and all that stuff, and if I buy it outside, it’s extremely expensive. With DirectBuy, it was cheaper so I decided to become a member. I’ve been with them for about 10 years. The kitchen is valued at almost $80,000 and it cost me $24,000. And this was excellent material. The flooring, the bathroom, lighting and everything in the house came from DirectBuy.
It used to be an easy process to purchase things from them. Before, they had different sites nearby. Now, the one that I have nearby is not there anymore so I have to deal with the company central and sometimes, it’s a little harder to get a hold of them and get everything setup although they try their best and they help you, call you and send you e-mails. If you are able to go to one of their places, for me it’s better because you look at the material there, the books, and everything. You get the prices and you have someone helping you, explaining to you the material and the equipment. Now you’re flying solo and it’s a little harder.
DirectBuy has excellent pricing on lighting, on big deals, and big things. For instance, it’s the same tile that you buy elsewhere and you sometimes pay $10 a square foot but when you go to DirectBuy and you pay $3 or $4. There are other things, however, that are more or less the same price outside so you’re supposed to be getting dealer prices and sometimes it doesn’t look that way. But other than that, the experience has been excellent.

We were renovating our house so we decided to get a membership with DirectBuy. We did floors, cabinets, plumbing and showers, and we purchased them all from DirectBuy. The quality of the items was good.and the cost was good on most of them too. The other items were as cheap as in a store though. Also, it was a pain having to go into the DirectBuy warehouse and go through all the catalogs. They should have more of it online than what they do. They do now, a little bit, and I was able to find what I was looking for through their website. It’s a good membership to buy when renovating a house because customers could save quite a bit of money, especially on the flooring part.

I've been a member of DirectBuy for over 10 years and thus far, the savings have been beneficial. They provide value for the dollar. Our latest purchase, where we did it all online with a concierge, was neither difficult nor problematic. However, it lacks a human touch. I find it more pleasing to go into the actual storefront and speak with a rep to go through the steps as they are worth checking out, especially if purchasing larger money items.

I had ordered patio furniture for my new deck, but I had not received any notice of when it was to arrive. I called and got immediate attention. I have known about DirectBuy for years. Their customer service was perfect and the furniture that I have purchased from them are excellent. However, I have problems with the delivery service they used. And it has happened twice where the delivery service did not contact me to let me know that my item was in. It happened just recently and it took me calling them to find out that my couch had been sitting in the delivery company's warehouse for one month. I was concerned about that and what kind of shape it would be in.
The girl at the delivery company said that our area just recently lost their contract with the delivery service and she couldn't believe they hadn't called me. So a new one came in and they had a huge backlog. All I wanted was to make sure I got my couch so I didn’t do a fuss and spoke to their customer service about it. There were some communication getting lost between the manufacturer shipping it to the delivery service, and then, the delivery service getting the item out to the client. But other than that, I've done a lot of ordering and I'm very happy with everything.

I bought quite a few things from DirectBuy and I've been buying from them for 10 years. I furnished my condo, living room, dining room, bedroom, lighting, kitchen, and kitchen cabinets which matched my cabinets, rugs, and mirrors. There have been some circumstances where I contacted DirectBuy and they’ve been very helpful and quick to respond to questions. They always have someone available to talk to online.
Recently, I have not been thrilled that there’s no showroom and everything is online. I was going to upholster some things and there used to be a showroom of fabrics. It’s not available to many people anymore. There also has been a lot of product cuts. I’ve noticed that many of the product line, Breville, is no longer there. Also, sometimes the shipping fees don’t make the purchase worthwhile and I'll get a better sale at a regular store.

I was planning to do some bathroom renovations and then I saw DirectBuy's TV commercial. I arranged an appointment and went there, and I became a member that night. I’ve been a member of DirectBuy for more than 10 years now and I have recently bought a table tennis table, some furniture for my spare bedroom and two LED mirrors for my bathrooms. There were periods when I would buy a lot of stuff and periods when I would stop. When I purchase, I would wait for two to four weeks or eight weeks, depending on where the stuff is coming from, but DirectBuy tells me a longer period for waiting than it usually is. I know that I'm going to get my purchase six weeks from the time of order, and I'm fine with that as it's on time. They call me and then we go and pick it up. Their shipping people and the customer service people are all good. I've known them for so long and they’re almost like a family to me.
I pick the product that I like and it’s usually very high-quality, like GROHE faucets, KOHLER toilets, or Calligaris furniture, and they could be German or Italian. There are some savings but not as much as it used to be, and I'm sure that that's because of the dollar exchange and the dollar going down. However, some of the suppliers that used to be there are not there anymore. And they used to have the really high-end Australian and New Zealand appliances, like Bosch, AG, and Dyson, but now they don’t.
I got an email saying that I can buy a gift for a friend for $259, and then that friend can become a member after a year by just paying the $289 or $279 membership fee. When I started, it used to be $5,000 upfront to become a member, so this is a really good opportunity for people. And it's until January 18th, so that’s a great one. When we joined, we figured out that the $5,000 that we paid for membership would pay off right away renovations in a bathroom, but this is even better now. I would recommend DirectBuy. I have a friend that is a member as well and she is really pleased, too.

I’ve been a member of DirectBuy since 2007. At that time it wasn’t too far away from us and the service was basically there or the showroom. We’ve purchased furniture, fireplaces, and fridges from them. But it's getting a bit frustrating. We purchased refrigerators this past year and had nothing but hassles and trouble with them coming in damaged. We called and we talked to the people a little higher up and we ended waiting forever to get our money back. When we were in the showroom, the people doing the inspections and looking after everything and the service was great. Now, it’s just dumped in the warehouse and all we get are excuses.

We were doing some remodeling then so my wife wanted to become a DirectBuy member. We've had them for over 10 years now. I've done a couple of projects and bought flooring, cabinets, furniture, and stairways. Some of their items are at a really good cost and some are a matter of saving. Buying things has changed now and it's more online which is somewhat good, but it's harder to find a few items. Nonetheless, I would recommend DirectBuy. So far, I've had a good experience with them.

Misti ** has the Service rep I have been working with for the past week on my order "The Wall of Thought". She was able to get the order to us ahead of schedule. After the order was delivered and the box was opened it was discovered that there was damage to one of the figurines. She was extremely helpful in resolving the problem. I would recommend to anyone to go thru DirectBuy based on the customer service. Misti did a excellent job and you should take her out for lunch... for a week.
We have never had any problems with the items we have bought thru DirectBuy. It is unfortunate that this item have problems. Not only was there damage but one of the figurines that was damaged had incomplete paint to the top on its head. Each figurine had the silver magnet visible. I was able to fix the damaged figurines, Paint the top of the head, and paint the silver that showed thru on all the figurines. The magnets was not one of the items I told Misti. This was something I would have expected a Manufacture to take care of during the process.

Lloyd Flanders chaise lounges - Leasha was absolutely amazing! She contacted the mfrg for me, asked all the important questions, got a print out of the actual dimensions, gave me a price and compared it to Pelican Reef. These are the chairs I will eventually buy if you have them on Club Exclusives in the spring. They are too expensive to sit around doing nothing for the entire winter.

We have been DirectBuy members for 14 years. Originally, my brother was a member and then my brother-in-law. I thought I could probably save some money so we became members. Back then, you had to pay $5,000 and nobody else could use your membership. You couldn't buy for family so it sucked. I have made a lot of appliance purchases and recently, I spent $30,000 but I'm not very happy with some of their policies.
We're having a place built and the developers keep pushing our time back. I've got most of the appliances stored elsewhere but I have run out of storage room. So now DirectBuy is charging me for storage while it's at the warehouse until I can pick it up which sucks. I have been out to the storage place and they said they've got lots of room but they have no control over what DirectBuy wants to do and if they want to charge me $40. For the amount we spent, it should be gratuitous.
The purchasing experience was a lot better when they had a warehouse out here and a showroom. But the product place was closed in our city and now, it's all online but the experience is still good. As far as quality goes, what we purchase is our choice and because I research what I buy, I know the quality is going to be good. The only confusing part of it is the concierge shopping part of it. Some items say "can't be ordered online" so you have to phone them.
Plus when you first click on an item online, you can view the costs but when you go to check the item out, they add all of their expenses. So it would be better if we actually saw, at least with their expenses on, what an item is going to cost, rather than having to go through all the way to the checkout and find out it's not such a good deal because they're putting 500 extra dollars on it. They say it's shipping and handling so there is a warehouse cost but they've obviously got to make money. I'd also like to see more varieties of suppliers on board. Still, I would tell others to join DirectBuy.

We've been members of DirectBuy for 10 years now. We were getting started to build a cottage and we decided the membership would come in useful to purchase stuff for our build. For the most part, buying from them was excellent. But the last time I bought from them wasn't as good because they kind of forgot about me. I ordered a stove and paid for it. I called three weeks after to see where it was and they kept telling me that it was going to be shipped. And then they told me that they didn't have the stove anymore so they had to get in touch with the supplier and to do a different stove that was comparable. It took another two weeks after that and I was without a stove for five weeks. But overall, it's been a good experience and I've referred DirectBuy to other people and we have friends who joined because of us.

I asked for a price for OXO On Barista Brain 9 Cup coffee maker on a brand you use and was told you could not get it. I was given a list of brands that you carry and they do not meet the standards of my request. I originally joined because of the promises made for every kind of thing I could imagine purchasing, once again I am left with a poor opinion of what should have been a great investment in my future.

My husband and I attended a sales pitch at the DirectBuy showroom in our area. We were shown products, product catalogues, there was a wall of fabric samples for furniture, a large area of tile samples, another area of hardwood flooring, as well as kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, appliances, lighting, etc. We spent over $4000.00 to purchase a membership as we were beginning renovations on our home. Then the showroom abruptly closed under rumour of wrong-doing. Now all we have is an extremely expensive membership to... on-line shopping. No samples to see actually colours or to feel the actual quality. No ability to take those samples home to see how they actually go with other fixtures and furnishings.
On-line shopping is NOT what we paid thousands of dollars for. Especially given the numerous issues with trying to make a purchase. Add to that the exorbitant shipping and handling charges. Large items are shipped to the warehouse of a local moving company, and that's an added $50.00. And worse... I recently went to purchase a men's watch. The price was $125.00. I added it to my cart. It appeared in my cart at $185.00, plus $60.00 shipping and handling ($50.00 of that going to the moving company!!!). When I emailed to question this, I received an email thanking me for bringing this to their attention, that it should be "$15 freight and $10 shipping" bring the watch to $150 before tax, and telling me to await further instruction. I waited.
First, the watch was corrected to $125.00, but the shipping was still $60.00. I waited longer. Now the shipping and handling is $34.92 (not $25 as quoted) BUT WORSE, the watch is now $174.60!!! I feel totally scammed by DirectBuy, and wish we had NEVER paid all those thousands of dollars. We feel locked into paying the annual membership renewal fee as we paid the thousands... and that's a loss if we let the membership go. In my opinion, if you're thinking about it, think again.

I was building a house and needed a lot of less expensive stuff than retail so I got a membership with DirectBuy and I’ve been with them for eight years now. I purchased for living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms projects, and bought chairs, blinds, and bedroom suites. DirectBuy will work well if one is a planner and isn’t used to just going out and buying what they saw Saturday morning at the mall. If one expects to get straight out of the catalog and delivered to their home by Tuesday, they’ll be awfully disappointed. The ability to order and expect a decent delivery requires a lot of planning and one's got to estimate the construction project. In terms of the quality, they’re the best I can buy so far. I experienced good product, people, and value with DirectBuy.

We were doing a major renovation so we thought we could save some money by being a member of DirectBuy. We've been members since 2013 and got two kitchen cupboards, kitchen counters, and two bathroom vanities. Plus, we bought all appliances, a sink, and faucets for the kitchen. All the people we've dealt with were very helpful and the kitchen designer was a wizard who really knows what he was doing. The stuff they sell is expensive but it's all good brand stuff and has excellent value.

The DirectBuy reps walked in the front door where I was working and introduced themselves. I looked into DirectBuy and it seemed reasonable. I got to know the people involved and they seemed like honest ones. I’ve been a DirectBuy member since 1998 or 1999 when they opened in London. They discounted the price for me a lot. I was purchasing some large ticket items at the time and I thought, "Well, I'll give it a try and see what it's like," and it went well for me. I’ve purchased high-end office furniture, living room furniture, and a lot of other things as well. Everything has been good but their shipping and handling fees are way above what we originally agreed upon. The original owners agreed they didn't charge me that at all but now that they're no longer there and corporate is taking it over, I have no choice but to pay so that's the only thing that I didn't care for. It's a little more impersonal and not as easy to purchase with.
We just purchased a new 75-inch television. And if you read about it, you don't have anyone to really talk to about it unless you want to call their concierge and ask some questions. But the value is excellent and the quality of the merchandise was good too. I’ll tell my friends that my experience has been good about buying new memberships but now that there isn't a private owner running it, I don't know that I’d recommend that because I feel a little more insecure about the company now. But as far as what I've purchased just a week ago, everything has been excellent.

Paid over 3000 dollars for membership that I rarely use. The shipping cost, especially on big products, cost almost as much (if not more), as the product itself. So really you do not have much of a savings after shipping cost. Horrible customer service and will not honor what the clubs said they would do when you first sign up. Even with a signed agreement. Very big scam! Do not waste your money!

At the time when I bought my first house, I became a member of DirectBuy as I saw some advantages and have taken a discount on all the products. I've been a member for 15 years now. Most of my purchasing experience with them has been good. Sometimes, it takes a little longer to get some of the product. Sometimes, it takes six weeks and sometimes, they say it's six weeks but it shows up in a week. Other than that, everything was fine. The quality of the products has been good as well. I've already told several of my friends to join DirectBuy and buy stuff.

What I was told and what happens are very different. Jeremy at DirectBuy escalations was timely and considerate but, an escalation of my complaint was a waste of both his time and mine. The travel person simply said I was wrong and even if the salesman told me one thing it was not the policy. When I pointed out that their hotel specials were more expensive and less flexible than the hotel website, she said I would get credit for the difference if I booked thru them. My $2000 joining fee paid for my 2 vacations -- a fair price, not a great one. After my original complaint they allowed me to book one of their quarterly deals but, I will have to pay another $1800 to be able to book a "deal" for the next to years -- Not much of a deal??
As for the furniture and wares-- I would belong forever, if, there was still a center to order from and local warehouse. Even before the centers were closed-- my order problems were handled promptly and efficiently -- esp when trying to go through the concierge was a NIGHTMARE without any resolution. I will be using all social media possible to spread the problems I have had with travel so, other may avoid this nightmare.

We were renewing a house at the time we became a DirectBuy member in 2003. In Victoria, where I live, there's no showroom which makes purchasing a little more tedious and time-consuming because I have to find the products that I'm looking for at retail and then figure out what it is I really want. But when I joined up, there was a showroom where I could touch and feel the different products and look through catalogs for colors which were really beneficial.
The maintenance fees are a couple hundred bucks and I save that just on one transaction so even though I don’t use it a tremendous amount, when I do, I certainly redeem my annual maintenance cost. I bought some blinds for the basement of this house that we’re in last month. The products are the same brands and as good in quality as those that I could buy at retail stores. I've had to return items a few times and it’s always been a really good experience. People have asked me how it was with DirectBuy when they found out. I told them that it works well for us and that I continue to sign up with them year on year.

I've been a DirectBuy member for more than 20 years. I liked their pricing and we were moving and building a new house so there were a lot of things that we could use it for. And also, the down payment was much lower than it is today. I've purchased mostly furniture, appliances, kitchen cabinets, countertops, granite countertops, and a lot of tiles from them.
Their website leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn't give you a lot of information on the product. My dealings with the concierge people have been positive and they're very helpful, but I like to investigate a lot of things and it's very hard to do it with them. I'd prefer the club experience. And in my opinion, it was much better when they had the club that you could go to with books, and whatever time you wanted. We have one very local to us, and it was very easy to stop in and spend an hour looking at stuff and try to figure out what you want. And the people in the club are very helpful and seemed to know a lot. Also, a lot of products that were on the books are not on DirectBuy's website. And when you find the product on the website, it doesn't tell you a damn thing about it. So, you always have to go the manufacturer's website to try to dig through everything.
I would always buy name-brand products, so the quality of the products I've gotten was not a problem. But there were two Drexel Heritage couches that we bought from them and in five years, they've completely fallen apart. And we bought a five-year insurance policy. And then, when we turned all the information over to them and sent them a ton of pictures and descriptions, they said it was all normal wear and tear. None of it was covered and they left it at that. They wouldn't even send anybody out to look at them. So, it was a very disappointing experience. If somebody comes out and looks at it, I can't believe they'd consider it normal wear and tear. I have to call them back and discuss it further with them because I couldn't believe what happened to them is normal wear and tear. And if they do nothing, we're going to try to have a Drexel Heritage person out. I don't think a couch should fall apart in five years when adults are using it.
For 20 years, DirectBuy has been really good. And one thing that they have done is they started to guarantee a low price, which is very nice. I've used that a couple of times on significant items like all new appliances for our kitchen, and we had a store locally that we got prices for and they were lower than DirectBuy's price on their website. It was when the club was still open and I took the quote in to them, and they sent it off. We got close to 10% below the other guy's price. So, it was a significant saving which was great. And I just used it again on some bathroom fixtures from Delta. It was in an online store where you can find Delta products at very good prices. And I compared them to DirectBuy's. I sent them in and they revised their price and beat the best price I had. It's a very good feature that's only been around four years.

I've been a member of DirectBuy since '99. I was building a house at the time and they have a very good set-up. You could even go to their showroom but over the years, they've evolved. The showrooms went out of business and now everything is online so we don't have to look at the books either. Interestingly, it's working okay. The only problem is this delivery situation. I have a lot of rental houses and I've done a lot of purchases, including locks, set bowls, high-end furniture, cheap sofas, light fixtures and kitchen cabinets. I used to do a lot of kitchen cabinets but now there is no showroom and I worry about the delivery. It doesn't sit well with me to waste my time over the delivery.
I ordered two very nice and expensive end-tables six months ago. I got them and then decided to buy two more. The shipping and handling charges went up by 120 bucks which was fine, but the company that they chose for delivering this thing was nothing but bad news. I even got a feeling they are a scam and not may even be a company. They called me last week to schedule a delivery and yesterday, I picked the time 8 to 11. I asked if they could possible make my order the first delivery and they said it was no problem. Knowing that, I scheduled a dentist at 11:30 but by 11, nobody has shown up.
I left for the dentist and halfway through, the delivery company called to say they were there. They were supposed to give me half an hour before they call, plus it was past 11. I was at the dentist's so they said they have to reschedule which means I have to sit at home for another four hours on another different day. It's not that I have nothing else to do but instead of paying 300 something for delivery, DirectBuy could have shipped it through UPS for 30 bucks.
At the dentist's, I wrapped it up quick and by 11:40, I called the driver who called me. I told him that I was going to be back home in 10 minutes and that I would wait for them to deliver and give me a call. No phone call came. I even called the headquarters of the delivery company in Georgia at 11:45 but they said the driver had already left and they were not going to deliver that day. Until now, I have not heard anything back yet. Maybe DirectBuy has a share in this delivery company and they are trying to double dip on that. That worries me because DirectBuy used to be really good and 6 months ago, the experience was very nice. There was none of this hassle but now, they're losing the carrot's trust.
The products that I got have been okay. Stanley's a Stanley. If I buy cheap sofa, it's a cheap sofa. If I buy fancy one, it's a fancy one. The cost of the material and the merchandise that I've ordered was fantastic. I'm good with the 8% that they add as their handling too. What I have problem is the delivery charges. If only there was some way that they could negotiate the delivery in a different method.
I even found a sofa that I want to buy six of but I don't want them to do a white cloth delivery to my home. I want my order in a box so I can put them in a storage and use them in my rental houses. Why would I even have to pay for white cloth delivery and then the problem is white cloth? They take it out of the box in the warehouse so that cost is going to get ruined and it's useless to me. I like DirectBuy and I want to use them more but I'm not utilizing my membership full because of all the hassles associated with it. It's a huge turn-off and unless they put their act together on the delivery situation, I'm not going to be ordering much from them.

The quality of their products is excellent and I've been really pleased with DirectBuy. The membership fee has been well worth my while. I've gotten more than my money back since I built a house.

We bought appliances, furniture, kitchen cabinetry, bedding, mattresses and more from DirectBuy. We were getting ready to build a retirement home and the savings from becoming their member were way too obvious to pass up, so we became one. We’re also very happy with the quality of the products and in relation to the cost, it was good too. However, purchasing from them changed dramatically. In the suburban, we had a store close to us so it was very easy, but now that we're in a rural area, it wasn’t. We wanted to do window coverings but when I contacted them, they said there wasn't a rep in this area to do that and it would be the case as we do more stuff since we're too rural to use a lot of personalized services. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone in the rural area who wasn't doing something major for the cost, but if they were building a home like what we did, I would definitely recommend DirectBuy.

We used DirectBuy when we were renovating our house and it was good for bigger items we found. We downsized and moved into this place last year. It was an old house and we had to do a lot of renovation. DirectBuy offered us three years for a really good price so we took it. We did carpets, floors, and appliances with DirectBuy. We also bought a table and chair set. We know we’ve saved money with them. When I went to the store ordered the table and chairs, I looked around and found the same thing for $500 cheaper. The quality of the products we've bought from them was good.
DirectBuy is good for big purchases and I wouldn’t necessarily go there for one item. Our membership is coming for renewal in February and I don’t know if I’m going to renew it because we’re older and we’re planning on staying here for a while and I don’t have any big purchases coming up. I’m also a little bit leery about purchasing online and that you got to wait for it. Other than that, I love DirectBuy.
When we first went in, it’s a little bit overwhelming sitting there and we were kind of lost shopping in legs. But I’ve really liked the two ladies that we met when we walked in, Cox and Megan. They called me by name and they’re very helpful and very knowledgeable. I felt like I was part of the group and they made me feel like I was important. I've never had any problems with DirectBuy.

We've been members of DirectBuy for almost 20 years. We've had a great experience and we're really happy about it. It is a good opportunity to get some better quality stuff for less money. We just built a house so the membership was very handy. We used it for furniture, appliances, sinks, faucets, bath, and bathtub. It was quite easy to find things when you knew what you were looking for. And we were fortunate enough that we live close enough to the actual club so we often went by in person and looked through the catalogs. The quality of the products are great and we’re really pleased. It's worth the cost of the membership, and you get the better products for the price that you pay. We’ve already recommended DirectBuy to some friends.

We were building a house so we figured we could save some money by becoming a DirectBuy member. I've been with them for 10 years and I mostly buy furniture from them. Usually, I like to go and see what I’m ordering, find it at some store and know exactly what I’m going to get. But for the first time, I didn’t do that and I was really disappointed in it. The color is off on the couch I just ordered and we do not like it. It’s a little frustrating at times, but overall our experience has been pretty good. I recommend DirectBuy if one is buying a lot.

We've been DirectBuy members for a very long time. We were moving and we had some stuff to buy and it was worthwhile for us to join them. We bought mostly furniture and their prices were good. It's nice to navigate their website, but I used to like going to the club and being able to look through catalogs and pictures. They don't have as many pictures in the catalogs now and there are fewer catalogs available. It's mostly online now. It's nice to be able to flip a page. But so far, everything's been really good and they actually counsel me which products are better than others. I'm really happy with DirectBuy. They offer good quality and easy shopping.

I’ve been with DirectBuy since 2005 and there was a showroom right by where we live. We've bought appliances from them. We did our kitchen, cabinets, flooring and we did a lot of granite. We bought carpeting through them, plus furniture. It was always excellent because I could just run over to the club. It was a five-minute ride. Plus, quality has always been excellent. Then, they've shut down all the showrooms.
I just bought some things through DirectBuy and I did it over the phone. They knew exactly what I wanted and it worked out well. But if I had to do my kitchen, I would not buy through DirectBuy. It was easier when I went over to the club. I could talk to people and I could see things as they laid everything out for me. I tried doing a project over the phone with them and it never worked out. I had to go to Ferguson. We’re getting our bathroom done and I tried to go through DirectBuy and it was terrible. It's a challenge doing something like that over the phone or on the internet. If I'm going to get a recliner or my wife wants to get another chair or we're going to get a couple of lamps, I’ll just call DirectBuy. We'll buy it and that'll be easy. I just wish they'd have the showrooms back.

Although it took quite some time to resolve the issues totalling almost 3wks. Pamela and Linda both worked very hard and worked over and beyond to provide excellent customer service. The vendor was very difficult to work with and many unethical issues came up with them switching the product without informing me or DirectBuy with a product that was inferior to what I had ordered and actually had a cheaper price point.
With all of this, not once did the vendor take accountability or tried at all to either resolve or show any form of acceptable service. They wouldn't even compensate me or DirectBuy for the terrible experience. Linda went far and beyond and I am thankful for DirectBuy of compensating me on behalf of Mabe Sales. Although, to be honest I feel that the vendor should still be accountable for this cost. I have requested for Linda to keep me updated as she has mentioned that she will elevate this situation on the vendor side. Pamela and Linda both worked diligently and at times even past their regular hours.

I have had a past littered with negative DirectBuy experiences and recently felt compelled (not even sure why because I felt I had given up months ago!) to send them a nasty-gram to tell them that they'd wasted enough of my time with their gimmicks. Well, I was humbled by a response from a genuine Member Care Specialist, Alyce, that actually took time to explain a misunderstanding (no one had done this before!) in policy that would've saved us A LOT of prior headaches, saved us A LOT on a Palliser couch purchase, and given us A LOT more value out of our membership. I am not proud of how I handled myself, but Alyce treated me with respect -- actually, more than that! She treated me as if we were friends! Thank you Alyce for turning the whole "thing" around. I have used my membership with DirectBuy to purchase mostly home remodeling stuff and some electronics. I let my membership lapse for four years because I moved away. I was not getting the value out of it. Then, I've gotten a few more things that needed to get done, and I took a look at it again and gave them another chance. It's much better now. The concierge folks are great now. Previously, they didn't have the information and I had to go to the club in order to get any pricing, or I had to email the club directly. Things have definitely been streamlined and it's definitely better than it was. The delivery experience has also gotten much better because now they’re delivering directly to the home, and I don't have to go to the warehouse to pick my stuff up so that's awesome. In the past, it was really difficult to tell once an order was placed and how long it was actually going to take to show up.
I've been super surprised with it recently because I ordered the TV recently and it said two to four weeks for delivery, but it showed up within six days, which was amazing. But last time I did it, it took almost a month or more to get the TV here. However, I'd like to see a few of the manufacturers come back or the product lines extended for what we can buy through them, specifically for Yamaha. I'd also like to see Braun come back. We used to be able to buy shavers and things from Braun. I was able to get Anolon and Circulon and some other good pots and pans but they’ve disappeared as well. I'd also love to see laptops and desktop PC's added from major manufacturers. Both my aunt and my father-in-law are looking for laptops and I've had to send them to other places because I can't get it for them or gift it to them through DirectBuy.

We've known about DirectBuy for quite some time and there was a one in Alberta. We went there and they gave us an appointment to go for an orientation. We bought a membership because we sold off our stuff when we moved from Manitoba. We were building a home in Calgary and we needed to furnish it. The amount that we were paying for the membership was going to save us lots of money in furnishing a new home and we've been a member since late 2005. We purchased Hunter Douglas blinds, vertical and sliding back panels, a bedroom suite, a kitchen table, coffee tables, end tables, office chairs, and TVs.
The quality is excellent and we've not had any problem with anything that we bought through them. Plus, the pricing's been great for us and they've been very helpful any time we've had any dealings with them. When we moved into the newer home that we built, we bought a Samsung washer and dryer. When we got it home, we noticed that it had a dent and they gave us a discount on it. Also, my husband is a comparison shopper and when we were looking for a leather furniture, we went to a few places. Ashley Furniture came to mind and the exact same couch we purchased from DirectBuy three weeks ago was $800 or $900 more through Ashley. DirectBuy has been great.

I enjoyed my experience with DirectBuy. I knew about them in 1986 when it was called the United Consumers Club then. It just transitioned to DirectBuy throughout the years. I like their pricing, and I bought a lot of the products from them. I've bought a sofa, as well as a three-piece bookcase. In the long-term, DirectBuy is a good investment. I ended up saving a lot of money throughout the years of purchasing products from them.

The DirectBuy team was in town and they called me for a meeting. The membership fee is a bit high but my wife wanted to be a member. We’ve been with them for at least six years. They opened a vacation club, and I bought a vacation package from them. I did it over the phone and the interaction with their rep was nice. He had a great place where I've already been to and I went back twice that year. However, most of the stuff in DirectBuy is expensive and I'm just a normal person. The catalogs show pictures but won’t show you the prices upfront, so you're buying in the dark. That's nice if you can afford it. I buy a barbecue grill every two years and I wear one out, but I don’t need a $3,000 barbecue. You don’t know the price until you buy it and then they send you the catalog.

I was trying to renew my subscription this morning and realized my renewal fee doubled! We paid our 5000 buy-in fee years ago. We were told the renewal would always be $150.00. I don’t buy enough from DirectBuy to justify a $300.00 renewal and I am very disappointed they are trying to gouge me now after all the years we have been members.

Living in a city, I am very limited in what I can buy, but through DirectBuy, I have so many choices at great prices. 14 years ago, friends told me about them and I wanted to save money and get much higher quality products than I could afford. I bought lots of furniture, stereo equipment, flooring, table, chairs, and plumbing and the experience was excellent overall. The website removed a lot of the product off which is fine because there're so many products. I just go to the manufacturer’s website. Quiana took down all of my information and forwarded it on to the Concierge Shopping Division (Carla **). I had about 30 carpet samples I needed and there was so much information. She was with me on the phone for quite awhile and never did I hear angst (feeling of dread or worry, anxiety, worry, trepidation) in her voice. This kept me calm. I am pretty focused and want things done now but we both knew in order to get the task done we had to work together. She was very patient and kind. This helped me to respond well with the next person once they were in to answer more questions. We have DirectBuy since 2003. We were building a house at the time and it seemed like a good idea to become a member because of the savings that we thought we would get. We've used our membership a lot for buying furniture, window coverings, windows, flooring and appliances to name a few, and we’ve had very good quality items so far. We had a problem with some window coverings but that was resolved. We've always bought named and well-known products and I do quite a bit of research when I buy stuff. We're very happy with everything and if a friend is in the market for savings and better quality products, I'd recommend DirectBuy to them.

We recently had a issue resolved by Diane, a merchandise specialist with DirectBuy. She had reviewed a chain of emails I had with the manufacturer of some high end light fixtures we had ordered two years ago through DirectBuy. We had an issue with a total of 25 glass shades on three fixtures being defective. The glass was weak and prone to breaking when removed for cleaning. The manufacturer had admitted to this defect both verbally and in writing. They had offered to replace only 6 shades at a discounted price and the remaining 19 would have to be paid at full price. Within two days of Diane reviewing our case and in contact with the manufacturer she was able to call me and give me the news that I was going to receive 25 replacement shades at no charge.
We are glad that this was the resolve and have always followed the theory of "you get what you pay for". This works on two levels with us. One being that DirectBuy has the reputation of carrying only high end reputable brands. The other is that the membership for DirectBuy was by no means an inexpensive membership. I'm glad that both levels have been satisfied in this situation. The brand we choose to purchase for our lighting fixtures have stood behind their product to send out replacement parts for their items even after the 1 year warranty expired. They may have needed a little persuasion but all in they came to a proper understanding on the subject.
On the other end we couldn't be more proud to be DirectBuy members. Diane was compassionate and sympathetic with our situation and was able to find a fair resolve quickly. We are lucky to do business with a company that truly cares about its members. We advocate to many how great it is to be part of this club and speak very highly of the level of service we receive at a corporate and local level. Thanks once again.

Order came in earlier than expected. Design concept by Dean ** was great, Dean had great ideas and suggestions for my wife. We did have some damaged product from the shipping company but Dean took care of it with no problems. I have ordered more cabinets since and I am sure the purchase will be flawless. Warehouse staff were great, but I would suggest some better loading equipment. It would increase the volume out the door and make it safer for your staff. Talk to them. They know what they need.

I’ve been a member of DirectBuy for a long time and I’ve used them for travel and to purchase appliances, exercise equipment, and furniture. I like the value that they deliver. When I joined, it was several $1,000 to do so, but it's not nearly as expensive now. Other than that, my experience with DirectBuy has been very good. When I purchase from them, I give them the facts then they send me information. And it's just what I could see on my computer. But there's a gap when I walk-in to a retail establishment and do my research that way.
They moved to the concierge service and it worked extremely well on one hand. I have installers here because I'm redoing my kitchen, and all the new appliances arrived. It's one thing when you walk into a retail establishment, there is a product expert and they can walk you through, show you appliances, and explain things to you. But I now have a situation where I received a wrong appliance. It's potentially going to cost me everything I paid to get the new appliance in here so I'm not happy about that. I had to call concierge service and they had to get a return authorization from the manufacturer. That’s still to be arranged as to when they're going to pick it up, but there's a restocking fee of several hundred dollars that they're going to charge. When you buy from retail, they will have many situations where they’ll say, “Hey, if it doesn’t fit, just bring it back.” And the extra cost that you'd have might be associated with that, but that’s not what you expect when you're buying and there's supposed to be discounts.

Dean ** designed our kitchen for our new home. He was very patient with the many changes that occurred over our overall design process for the house, that in turn affected our kitchen. He gave us several options for how appliances could fit in and supported us with specs when asked. The samples he ordered for us were literally carried around for over a year to help us make various selections. We have been installing our cabinets ourselves and he has been helpful and responsive with warranty issues. He did a fabulous job with the design because everything went together well. If I need something, I go online and see if I can find it. If they have the brand that I want and it has a good price, then I'll buy it. It's expensive on to get into it, but if you're building a house or if you make a lot of purchases, then it's worth it.

I have been a DirectBuy client for over 10 years. It appears they "gave" me some travel program in 2014 as a valued member. I remember I received 2 phone calls in 2014 from their Rep trying to get me to sign up. With each call I said, "NO... I have no desire for a travel program NOW or EVER!" When my renewal for this year came up I told the Rep I would not renew as the membership was over $400.00. The Rep said, "Well how often are you using travel program??? We can save you over $107.00 on your 2018 renewal if we cancel the travel program." I have never sign up for this program. I did not know my husband had mailed a check to them for 2018 membership. So, they are refunding me 107.29. However, I feel they own 2015, 2016 and 2017 as I never signed up for this travel program nor have I ever used it.

I've been a member of DirectBuy for close to 20 years and I've had an excellent experience with them. I used them both for my own property and my income property. My wife used the concierge service and ordered stuff, which was great, while I bought stuff that I put in the cottage. We also had some KitchenAid appliances from them but we had to replace the stove and the fridge. They could've been better because I had to replace the control board, but they lasted for 15 years so that wasn't too bad. Then I bought a new Samsung stove two weeks ago but it was defective the first day. So I called Samsung and they sent somebody over and fixed it.

When we first joined DirectBuy, we were remodeling a house that we had bought, so we bought quite a bit. Then we bought a home in North Carolina that we remodeled and we used them too for appliances and different items. We’ve used them on and off and originally we were attracted to the price. Some of the items that you can get in there are really cost-effective. And, because of the value there, you can buy the higher-end items that you typically may not have bought. Ordering was easy because I already knew what I wanted. If you didn’t know exactly what you wanted or if you didn’t have a part number already, sometimes it’s a little hard. But for the most part, it’s good. For all of our major purchases, we would go shop and see what we wanted, then go to others and see if it’s available. And, they always deliver within the time frame. So far, it's been a good experience.

I placed an order for an Automatic Transfer Switch, (ATS), from Briggs Stratton then placed 2 days later placed an order for the 35kW Briggs Stratton Standby Generator. I asked for an accurate ETA and got nothing. Due to the fact that I received the ATS with no notification of the order being placed or a ship date, I called in and spoke to Alyce as I was concerned about the delivery of a 1 tonne generator with no one at my house to receive it. Alyce impressed me with her professionalism, responsiveness and considerateness for her fellow employees. I am not so impressed with the specialist handling my orders as I feel she is hiding behind a flawed process! How can you call it a concierge process when a week passes and you haven't checked on the order?

I would recommend DirectBuy to a friend but only under certain circumstances. First, you got to have a lot of money, plans the things you're going to spend money on. We did that and told people to go with DirectBuy if they’re planning on changing out all their appliances but otherwise, it may or may not be worth it. However, I had mostly positive experience with DirectBuy. We got some discounts from them on some items we needed when I bought the house. I’ve been using DirectBuy for appliances and we’ve purchased about five appliances in total that we buy one every two years. Two of the first appliances we bought were gas ranges. We also got a fridge for the downstairs suite and a dishwasher for the downstairs suite for my folks’ place. I loaded that place up with appliances.
We also got three mattresses from DirectBuy and we're really happy with that. The mattress prices were GONGSHOW cheap, like a clearance thing. So, we're sleeping on a new mattress every four years here and then we give the old one away to somebody. Most people would spend $800 to $1,000 on a mattress lasting 10 years. The last deal we got was a fridge freezer where the fridge is a fridge and the fridge is a freezer. That was the greatest one we got for Easter and it's gorgeous. We paid about $1,850 for the shipping in the US as compared to our church who paid about $3,200 for the rental for the pair. The kitchen is all we got left to do and we’ll probably want a new dishwasher. I got this little one that I found used for 50 bucks that I needed a $30 repair. But, we may be running out of things we need from DirectBuy.
The gas stoves we bought for the downstairs was still working fine, but ours ended having to replace it within six years. It had an electronic problem at first that required $160 for repair. Then it crapped out again a year later so I basically dragged it out to the side and threw it off the deck because I got pissed off. We paid 1,100 bucks for the pair and all with the delivery. We went with a much higher rated and more expensive model. I researched more this time when we got the upstairs one from DirectBuy. I'm disappointed though with one thing which was the fifth burner turned out to be useless. It's probably more specific to the brand, make, model or even the gizmo itself and they're probably a lot better now. It was a fairly new thing on the market at that time when we bought it. Otherwise, it's a great little machine. I love the convection that cooks well. It’s easier to clean than the old one.
We also had issues with three different pieces of furniture over a year period but we were happy with the prices. Moreover, the couch had some sort of mark on the cushion. DirectBuy replaced the cushion for free. I had it shipped to us within a couple of weeks. The only one they wouldn't replace for us was the chair. They said the little chip in the chair was too small to be worthwhile. It was six years ago and right about that time that Victoria’s showroom was shutting down and gone so things were just kind of really going bad in DirectBuy in general. Now, things are back on track. It's unfortunate and disappointing that we don’t have a local showroom here in Victoria and we’ve got to cheat a bit and go out to Home Depot to look at appliances to touch and feel if we’d want. But, if it's something we think we can trust by buying online like a little table, it's fine.
Another thing was the shipping was poor in the early years. DirectBuy warned us the first about it and when we went into the showroom, they opened the book that tells you four to six weeks or six to eight weeks shipping. They said some things are shipped after appliances and electronics basically, but they also said at that time the discounts aren’t usually as deep and it was up to us. If we wanted a new gas range, we’d better order well in advance. Although, it has been a drastic improvement in the last couple of years. They even changed their local people that we’re going with here.
I was always happy with the previous people at the warehouse where it would get dropped off at in lieu of having their own showroom warehouse. They chose a very good mover and a reputable independent outfit. They are using a new one and they bring it up your stairs and hook it up for you for 50 extra bucks, they trim the lead time on delivery so things are so much quicker now. It’s good that the delivery is down to a couple of weeks for our last appliance that came. Also, I misunderstood the email that I received the fees they charge but people were supposed to have gotten a membership year for free. It was a little disappointing that we never got ours. It had something to do with the dates that maybe it was a US-only thing. These were all minor disappointments but when you weigh them, they’re probably somewhere in the neighborhood of $8,500 saved against the $2,000 we’ve paid in the fess over the years.

I checked the DirectBuy (DB) website for a delivery update and it indicated that the orders were delivered. I contacted DB customer service to notify them that the goods (GE Appliances) were not delivered. Pamela contacted me soon afterwards and followed up with the supplier and myself several times until the order was finally delivered. The supplier was a little difficult to work with but Pamela was excellent and her persistence is greatly appreciated. The delivery company provided good notices just before delivery and delivered the goods safely.

I was trying to purchase replacement appliances damaged in hurricane Harvey. I was excited to see the Black Friday special being offered and quickly chose all my appliances and put them in my cart. After going to my cart to review the contents, a red rectangular box appeared across my screen telling me the vendor appliances were not sold in the USA. I could not proceed to checkout and purchase the appliances.
I started a live chat and they were as puzzled as I was and referred me to the concierge help desk. They too were puzzled as all the items were showing in stock and definitely sold in the USA. She took my information and asked me for screenshots of the message then forwarded me to the help desk that could order my appliances for me. Everything got ordered and I received receipts for each order. Each person I contacted was very professional, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt. I was very pleased with how my problem was handled and felt good about my experience with Direct Buy.

My wife and I were frustrated when a sectional we ordered (Elite Leather) was damaged when it arrived. There were scrape marks on several seams and the back. We declined to take possession. We were also confused as to whether it was the right couch (it was). Misti ** was our DirectBuy representative. She is a superb representative of DirectBuy. She handled our case perfectly in every respect. The tech that was assigned repair of the couch also did an excellent job. The couch was repaired at the warehouse of the shippers. They also were professional, prompt and courteous. The couch is now in our home and, although we would have preferred that it arrive in perfect condition, DirectBuy and its representatives did an excellent job in remedying the issue.

I went to the open house. I had just purchased a Carter furniture sofa and paid $1,200 for it. And then when I came to a bunch of their catalogs, it costs $600 sign-up rate. I like the brands that DirectBuy carries and represents so I decided to become a member. The purchasing experience is okay. Their website is very user-friendly. I usually will email them I want, and if possible, a model number, which I find either from somebody else’s website. Also, the items I purchased from there are of great quality. However, I had some issues with delivery on some things earlier this year. It was a fiasco. They said they were shipped, then they were not shipped, and then they were lost, and it was very frustrating. So those are issues I had in terms of follow up. It was nuts but it got straightened out.
DirectBuy has great prices but freight is crazy. The pricing on the furniture is excellent but as soon as you add freight and home delivery, there is not that much of a savings. Another thing is you need to have the time to wait because sometimes the shipping is three to four weeks whereas if you go to other websites, you can have it shipped right away. But the membership is worth it when you buy furniture. They have the higher end stuff, so you definitely get a break on it.

I just got my yearly membership dues and they have jacked them up $100. I don't think they deserve another dime. When I joined they had a local store where you could go and look at the quality of the products. Now, they have closed the store and want you to buy high priced products online. What a ripoff.

We bought all of our appliances from DirectBuy. We bought a sink, faucets, some flooring, some tiles, and some toys for the kids. It's easier making purchases from them now than it was 11 years ago because we used to have to go to Fort Worth and pick it up, but now they’ll ship it here. The shipping is good. It gets here really quickly. DirectBuy has a good process and a good deal.

DirectBuy's competitive price made me go with them and I've been a member for about 10 years. I've purchased everything through them, from electronics and appliances to hardwood and blinds and my experience has been adequate for online purchasing. However, I sometimes find myself going to the company's website and look for more information when I look at the descriptions to know the details of the products. But, they were extremely helpful whenever I call and I’m very satisfied. I get products that have good quality, good prices, good deals and ones that wouldn’t be available for me.

I have been a member of DirectBuy since when it started back in the day when it used to have the local store that you can go into. I joined DirectBuy about 20 years ago. At that time, the membership fee was $5,000. It was an opportunity that we could buy good furniture from manufacturers at discount price because furniture has such a tremendous markup on it when you purchase from furniture stores and other places. A lot of the things in our house was bought through DirectBuy.
The problem I have with DirectBuy now is that you don’t actually go in to their store and meet with the representative to work with you to follow your order all the way through. Back in the old day, you could walk into a store. The person knew you and would get on the phone, talk to the manufacturers, talk to the shipping company, and that happened with no problems. You could go to the warehouse and inspect your product. You can either pick it up or have the company delivery it for you.
I placed an order on the 1st of September but we still haven't had delivery of our order yet. Right now, we scheduled for delivery on Friday. This is the second time I've had a bad experience. First was when I ordered something for my son as a wedding anniversary gift to be shipped to Charleston, South Carolina. I had to stay on the phone for almost a month and a half before they finally got it to his house. When he got it to his house, there was something with it. We ended up just accepting it and letting it go. There's a big disconnect between the concierge and the warehouse people. They talk on the phone, but no one face to face to follow up.
They tried to do improvements but some of these improvements really were not improvements at all. They are more of a headache to the customer than anything else. I would go and help my son become a member but they left a bad taste in his mouth. He doesn’t want to be a part of it. I want to see DirectBuy improve because I like them. Right now, my wife and I just moved to Texas and we need to buy a dining room set because we gave away our dining room set when we moved out of Maryland to a family in need. We're planning a Thanksgiving gift together and I'm a little leery, if I try to buy the set through DirectBuy, that I have it in time.

I've been a DirectBuy member since 2003. Back then, we were going to do some major renovations on our house and we needed a furnace and various other things. Over the years, we've also bought tiles, cork flooring, linoleum flooring, an air conditioner, a full kitchen, including appliances, sofa, chair, paint, bed, bed frame, tires, bedding, towels, a television, outside intra-lock, as well as window coverings, like shutters and blinds. Plus, we bought a washer and dryer from DirectBuy twice. We're also waiting for a new front door from them.
Although things have evolved over the years, buying from them has always been a good experience. I was a bit worried since they've downsized and gone corporate again, but we've had no problems. With having been members for years, we know their process, and the people in their Ottawa office are still really helpful and often have a good tip. We've had someone come into our home to look at some blinds since we were thinking of doing some changes. At first, we called to make an appointment, but they're doing it differently for blinds now.
We got what we paid for our fireplace. However, it's not so clear what's higher end and what's lower end when buying those things. We have a bed frame and it has some issues. If you move the bed slightly, the supports and the center collapse. I keep having to take the mattress off and fixing the supports underneath. I'm thinking of taking some pictures and talking to customer service since they can do something about it sometimes.
Customer service at our place has been great. We bought a sofa which has a chaise. The chaise pushing has worn prematurely. It's only eight months old and it's dipping. We took pictures of things and the manufacturer is going to replace the pushing. People should become a member, but buying small things won't recoup the cost. It has to be something more significant like a furnace or a bathroom. DirectBuy is a fabulous entity. It has high quality products and it provides excellent service.

We became a member of DirectBuy due to their pricing and also we were buying big volume and wholesale products. We would use DirectBuy mostly for housing projects where a plant is a big thing, flooring was a little bit and other knickknacks that we can buy there. In the early years, purchasing was very difficult. We had to send them the cash or a check and they had to receive it before we got what was purchased. We’re doing a project on our house right now and the experience with the concierge shopping is a little better. It’s a lot easier to pay for it since everybody pays with their credit card. Going corporate was a big thing for us and it makes it a little easier.
DirectBuy is in Calgary and we live in Lethbridge which is about two and half hours away so it’s still a bit of an inconvenience but it’s not too bad. When we went to a warehouse in Calgary to do some main shopping an outlet of one of the bigger brand name chains was right there. We were completely shocked with their price so we went back to DirectBuy. We sat down with one of the people inside. We did the order right there and saved $1,200. That’s substantial and worth buying since it takes more than $300 driving to Calgary and picking everything up unless we happen to be going to Calgary which is not that often. It’s inconvenient trying to arrange delivery for big items so home delivery outside of Calgary would be nice.
The biggest thing for us, being out of town, is when we order. We wanted our orders to be there all at once, so we could pick it up or arrange it. If we ordered four appliances, they would say that they would ship it. However, that’s five hours out of my day to pick that up. I’d rather have the appliances in storage time a bit longer until it’s all there and we can bring it back if needed. But other than that they were very friendly at DirectBuy and it has been rejuvenated since the company has been bought. We buy name brand things and anything we bought from DirectBuy has been good. Since I’m 65 websites are something new to me and their website is getting better. There were hundreds of things to answer on there but we also got to learn how to use the catalog shopping and type first name or the letter in.
