I am very pleased to say that when I did a quick partial remodel of my kitchen, Amanda ** was extremely helpful in finding exactly what I needed, and helpful with suggestions and things to consider for the different products I was interested in. Everything arrived at my home on time, which was a must to coordinate with the contractors' schedules. Thank you Amanda ** and DirectBuy!

I just wanted to take a moment to recognize Crystal for her services. It is difficult from a customer point of view to design a room without having a face to face with your designer as well as viewing all the options. Lucky for me, I knew exactly what I wanted and where I needed certain cabinets to be placed that would suit a bakers needs. Crystal made the process easy and was readily available whenever I needed clarification. Thanks to her, I was able to have my design within a week and already secured payment. Thank you Crystal for all your work. Can’t wait for my new bakers room.

It was years and years ago when we bought in DirectBuy and the value at a better cost appealed to me. We got windows, furniture and other stuff for the house. Buying from them has always been good as well as the quality of their products. The website is not always synced but whenever I email somebody, they get me the answers that I want and they’re prompt.

I purchased a leather sofa that had a damaged corner when it was delivered. I contacted the claim department expecting the best case scenario that I would get a patching kit. I was pleasantly surprised when Lorena ** went above and beyond my expectations and sent a replacement for the sofa. Thankfully, I had taken photos, which helped in the process. It is so refreshing to deal with a business that does what they say they will do and in a timely manner with professional representatives such as Lorena. Thank you Lorena and DirectBuy!!

We ordered product online that was delivered directly to our house. The product had shipping included and all fees were paid at the time of the order. Approximately 2 weeks after receiving the order we received an invoice from FedEx for Brokerage, Duty and handling fees. We contacted DirectBuy and they took care of it for us, no fuss, just great service.

I’ve been a member of DirectBuy since 1986 and the program is beneficial to us when we need products. We've purchased furniture and electronics and the quality of the products are fine so far. Some manufacturers are better than others and that's going to be the case whether you buy from DirectBuy or the store. Sometimes the shipping and the handling fee are a little excessive and make no sense. I've backed out on a few items when I put the numbers in. The price wasn't worth it. But there's also good savings like in the bedroom set we just bought including the shipping and handling. DirectBuy has always been good to us.

We joined DirectBuy in 2008 and we were in the process of building a new house back then. The type of products that they offered and the savings definitely appealed to us. We got our fireplace from them, and our central vacuum system, cooktop, dishwashers, stove, washer and dryer, and we also bought luggage, bicycle, dishes, and some furniture. Some of the items arrived broken and they had to be photographed and then emailed to customer service in Kelowna. We had to wait for the new product to come. For instance, when the cooktop came, two out of three of the grills were cracked. So it required a bit of patience and Kelowna's an hour drive away. The return process was time consuming.
We also had an incident where our Beam vacuum system needed some work done on it. And so we contacted Beam Canada, and they gave us the repair person in Vernon that will do it. When he arrived, he asked where I bought it and told him it was from DirectBuy. And then he treated us like a scum. So that wasn't a good experience. At one point, I asked the fellow if he wanted me to take it somewhere different. I told him I could take it to Kelowna or I could contact Beam Canada and find a different agent. And he backed down a little bit. That was one of the unpleasant pieces. But for the amount of money we were spending, the savings were worth it.
But we were sad when the showroom in Kelowna shut down. Everybody there was professional and helpful. All of the window coverings on our house came from there. It was definitely a positive experience. We also signed on to the travel piece and we've done some traveling and cruises. We definitely used our membership well.

D/B doesn't give prices on these logs. They showed and all outside vendors did not show 20 Inch logs I thought I needed. I spent time with a Concierges person that could not satisfy my questions. Frustrated I went to a local store (I know we are not supposed to do this). The pro in the store was hands on and proved to me I could use a 24 inch set D/B did offer. So I bought a different small item from the store as a thank you. D/B then sent me an invoice where I didn't save enough money to make my time worthwhile. I was told by the Concierges person the warehouse did not allow for pickup and a home delivery charge of $90 had to be added. I called a different Concierges person (Ashley **) who got rid of the $90 home delivery charge making the purchase cost effective. Without her assistance I would not have renewed my membership.

I couldn't read the fine print in the picture, and he bent over backwards to help me not only get a better image, but also he typed out the wording that he could see. I visited one of DirectBuy's locations and friends of ours had been members. I've been a member for five years and we have used it extensively. I have purchased everything from carpentry, appliances and hardware. We did kitchens and bathrooms. We're doing a major renovation right now which is top to bottom for flooring and appliances and paints from Sherwin-Williams. When it went through to concierge, the representatives were very good. I'm happy with DirectBuy.
But my local warehouse in Buffalo, New York where a lot of the stuff gets shipped to is horrendous. It's disorganized and chaotic and it looks like a hoarder's house instead of a warehouse. Also, sometimes even though the products are very good quality, it takes forever to get items. There were times I needed things quickly but it took too long to get them, so I ended up going with Amazon or with another vendor. Like I ordered a vacuum cleaner a couple of weeks ago and if I don't get it in a week I'm going to have to buy another one. And it takes too long to get certain items and it all depends on where the manufacturer is. The other thing is that they stopped working with some vendors that I really liked. It was one of the reasons why I joined. They used to work with certain vendors that I liked a lot and it was one of the appeal, but it's disappointing that they no longer work with those vendors, or the vendors don't work with DirectBuy.

We've been one of the very first people that signed up with DirectBuy especially in Edmonton. So, we've been members for years, maybe 20 years. We decided to purchase a membership for value. It was always about purchasing the items at a better pricing than what you get retailed for. If you find something, you'd be able to upgrade to a better product for around the same price. We've had renovations and now we own two homes and we've tackled just about a bit of the whole bunch of things. We've done a variety of different things with them over the years. We've had appliances, furniture, car seats for our grandkids, dishes, pots, and pans, things like that. Also, our purchasing experience has changed a lot over the years. Originally, you can't use credit cards and now you can. Now you can do a lot of the purchasing directly online, so you don't even have to go into the store. It's gotten better in some ways.
However, I find that the value wasn't as great as it used to be. By the time you paid the shipping and handling and bringing it up, sometimes there isn't as much savings as there used to be on a per product item kind of thing. Years ago, you would be able to get the best product but now, for the same price, you'd get something cheaper in the department store. I'm a coupon kind of shopper and best value kind of gal, but you can go to Winner's and HomeSense sometimes and see some really good value. I don't tend to shop as much through DirectBuy as I do through Winners and HomeSense because I can have instant gratification.
We ordered some lights a while back and we got it online through Wayfair. We decided to buy the exact same light and we saved on top of what DirectBuy would've priced it out, close to $600. We paid a whole lot less. So, the competition from that kind of website is huge. Sometimes, you can't always see and know what you're going to get and the return situation with DirectBuy would be a decision that if I wanted it bad enough, I would have to know exactly what I'm getting because those are tricky. But they now have a concierge service which is helpful. And if you see a product out there in the real world, they'll track it down for you and price it out, which is a really nice feature they have. So, not everything on the website is shown on the website but if you're wanting to buy a fridge or stove from Samsung, they may not have it on the website. But if it's available, they'll get you a price for it and we can get it ordered. All in all, DirectBuy good.

The quote request was handled by Jan **. I was very please with the turnaround time (less than 24 hrs) and the provide quote was 100% accurate for the products I had requested (...on occasion in the past I've had to go back and forth with other agents). I very much like the DirectBuy website interface whereby when I searched for an item that didn't come up I had the option to submit the request to concierge - that was great!

We became a member when Direct Buy first opened. We were thinking about buying a house and we were looking at all the people that waited in the building at that time and they were all picking out a complete houseful of furniture and they were so excited about being able to get a good price on a bunch of furniture at the same time. We have bought a refrigerator from them and a mailbox. So far, we are happy with the items we have purchased. And I just saw on their magazine not too long ago that they're offering design services. I thought that was a good deal to have somebody come into your home, and help you to select your furniture and not have to worry about it being too big, too small, wrong color, that kind of thing.
Overall, they've been very good and very helpful. They do some research for us and get back with this. And they've always gotten back in a timely manner. So, it's been a good experience to talk to people there. They are very accommodating when you call or when you' ask questions about certain items. Sometimes, it's a no answer, sometimes it's a yes and they'll ask you to choose someplace else.

When DirectBuy first started here in Ontario, Canada, the franchise opened in one of our buildings. I knew the owner and I became a member. The whole concept was interesting and then once we got to know the system, how it worked, it was very appealing being that we were just building a brand new home at that time. So, it came in at a good time. We purchased everything for the house from them. At first, it was very frustrating to purchase from them because we were looking at a catalog except for looking at the actual items. You had to go to a retail store to see similar appliances to get a sense of what you were buying. And then, you had to go back to DirectBuy and purchase the items you were looking for. It took a while to get used to it. And we referred a lot of people to DirectBuy and it was the same thing. Once they got used to the system, it was worth it.
However, we've only had an 80% success and 20% not so great with their products like our kitchen appliance. We went with Jenn-Air, got the thing, and we've had nothing but problems with every single appliance going from a bar fridge to electric range to our fridge. And that got frustrating for a while based on getting a service because that was going through DirectBuy. And once they looked at it, they get a part and would fix along. Other than that, it was okay.
DirectBuy's pricing is what drives everybody to go with them because they are much cheaper. However, these guys have gone through certain changes, they got rid of a lot of franchises. Now everything is more central based and that was the biggest mistake they ever did. Since then, we've had nothing but problems with DirectBuy to the point where we don't even know if we'll end up renewing again even though we're in the process of building a new house. Every item that I ordered in the last three, four months has come damaged. And then dealing with someone at DirectBuy or corporate has not been a very good conversation.
The people that I have referred to DirectBuy like the whole system and a lot of them have commented that the service had gone downhill. You have to call in, regardless, so it slows down the process. The product information online is very limited so you have to go to their facility. And even the catalogs there are not updated compared to some of the actual franchises that used to be here locally.

We have been members of DirectBuy for many years now, and to be honest many improvements to the online system have been made and there are some wonderful deals to be had. Unfortunately when our local showroom and pickup centre closed down, they changed the delivery location to Guardian Transfer. They're only open 8:30-4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. If you have a day job you're out of luck in getting any products that couldn't be delivered directly to your home. Not sure what they were thinking when they did this, but it's my biggest gripe when someone asks about the pros and cons of membership. It couldn't be any more inconvenient.

I was having renovations done at the house and I though DirectBuy might be a good way to get some discounts. I did the kitchen and purchased appliances, kitchen cabinets, and plumbing. Then for the bathroom, I purchased cabinets, and the sinks, taps, plumbing, and toilet. Then I ended up doing another renovation where I did an upstairs bathroom and I completely redid the main hallway with new flooring, and I've also done two other bathrooms upstairs.
Now, I'm onto doing some work in the basement and started to buy things again. But, I was having trouble getting online and I would need to either come to a showroom or do something because I wanted to be able to go online and look at things as well. Other than that, I'm pleased with the overall quality of the products for the cost. Most of the plumbing was Kohler and I had gone with good appliances from Maytag and Jenn-Air, and the lighting as well. DirectBuy could save you money if you were doing bigger renovations.

We pay DirectBuy the prices that we pay for wholesale. It's made it worth our membership. Most of our purchases were for home furnishing like decors, drapery, rugs, fitness equipment, appliances, couches and blinds. The buying process was easy. They're like what I would buy if I went to Home Depot or any other store. So they're great.
They have really good brand name appliances and products. But I think we paid a little bit more for our membership when we signed up to what they're charging now so in a way that’s a little bit of a disappointment. But I've always told people that we've got more than made up the membership fee stuff. The only thing that’s difficult about buying is that sometimes you have to go to the store to see it and try it before you order it. So I guess it's like furniture, we got to find a company that is carrying that brand.

Going directly to the manufacturer or the retailer with no middleman would give us savings. We redid our kitchen and we saved an insurmountable amount of money for that. We also bought a dishwasher, stove, microwave and light fixtures and the quality is really good. It’s quite easy to do things online and it’s more economical to buy through DirectBuy than going to Rona or Home Depot. The only thing that's not good is that if you pay by check, then it takes 10 days to clear. And if you pay by credit card, then there’s a service fee on top of that. Also, when we first joined it, it was pretty good because we only paid a certain amount. But now, they have fees every year and we were not told that when we first signed up. But I would others the things that we saved on.

I bought a new home in Roseville and I knew I was going to furnish a bunch of stuff, so I decided to be a DirectBuy member. Since then, I've purchased $20,000 or $25,000 in shutters for the house. I also have 2 master bedrooms, a living room, dining room, theater room, bar stools as well as two to three rugs. My last purchase with them was for additional shutters which they installed two months ago. Recently, I just bought another $9,000 worth of Thomasville furniture. However, I was looking for a particular Thomasville product which DirectBuy had four years ago but now they no longer carry them. All they carry now are mattresses from Thomasville. So, I ended up going to Thomasville to buy it.
Also, getting the shutters the second time around was a little difficult because I went through DirectBuy's concierge service. They recommended a lady and it took a month to get an estimate. After I complained a couple of times, I called actual Hunter Douglas people and they got everything rectified and I got the order placed. However, instead of the six to eight weeks which I was told, the order ended up being five weeks late in delivery. So, that wasn't a good thing.
Another bad experience I had was when I was doing the library. I went through the concierge thing again and they sent someone out. But then, they gave me an estimate of $30,000 through DirectBuy to put one wall bookcase in my library. I said they must've been nuts thinking that I would pay $30,000 for a bookcase and that's supposed to be some kind of savings to DirectBuy.
So, I scrapped that and I still ended up having to pay the person they sent out $700 or $400 to do plans and for consultation services. I ended up seeing something I wanted in DirectBuy's quarterly catalog which was close to what that consultant drew up and I ended up buying that. Instead of $29,000, I spent $5000 or $6000. I get leery when DirectBuy tells me that they're going to send a concierge specialist to come to me because every time one of them comes, that never works. Also, I'm unhappy that there's no longer a DirectBuy in Roseville, Sacramento because I really liked going to that place and going through the catalogs myself.
Still, some of the products I've bought from DirectBuy have been of good quality and those have been a very good buy. For instance, the Thomasville-Hemingway furniture which I purchased before has been really good. There's also a leather living room set which I purchased and now the leather is all cracked and peeling after four or five years. But, I turn right around and I'm ordering. I have a current order with DirectBuy for $5000 worth of Lazzaro furniture. However, I'm leery about certain brands they carry because they don't last as long. Overall, DirectBuy works for me and I would recommend them.

I have just purchased some carpet which was a very good buy, however because of your rather poor pick up and delivery options I now have to hire a vehicle and drive 200km round trip. The reason given to me as to why I cannot have the 2 pieces of carpet shipped to the Whitby warehouse is as sent to me by your agent which I have cut and paste as follows:
"I received a message from Russ that you would like your GE Shnier Carpet order re-entered being delivered to the #805 Whitby DirectBuy warehouse. I do apologize Steven as they do not accept Carpet orders, as they are 12 feet wide and most of them cannot handle that Width. Good chance it will get ruined sitting in the DirectBuy warehouse. I do apologize once again Steven. You need to pick-up this Carpet order from vendor in Brampton and if you are using our Carpet Installer Randy, he will go to the vendor to pick-up for you for a small fee. So I believe you want to keep the quote #** Richmond Carpet? I just resent to you. You can do the payment link and then it turns into an order. Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Enjoy your day."
I find this extremely annoying and highlights the most serious reservation I had when considering renewing my membership this year. In an age where almost every retail company is expanding delivery options your company seems to be reducing them, in my opinion this does not augur well for you and will have me rethinking again when the time comes to renew my membership.

This morning I placed 3 separate orders with DirectBuy, over the phone, that were handled by Jenifer **. Jenifer reviewed each of the orders with me in detail (at the line item level) and confirmed all pricing/associated costs. In addition she addressed all of my questions in a very professional and courteous and detailed manner making the overall experience a positive one. Hoping that the order process with the supplier/fulfillment/delivery goes as smoothly as placing the order with DirectBuy went. I would also like to note that the quote turnaround time that has been provided by Maritza has been terrific.

We just had our Brookwood Cabinetry and KitchenAid appliances we bought through DirectBuy installed. The result... an absolutely gorgeous kitchen. With that said, we can't say enough about Crystal Barrios, the online DirectBuy designer we worked with. First, the kitchen she designed for us based on our space and taste was breathtaking. Then... she patiently helped us adjust all details to fit our budget; and finally and probably most importantly... she was there if we hit a bump on the road, always within reach, reasonable and fair. In conclusion, we love our new kitchen and Crystal made what could have been a daunting project an extremely pleasant experience. Because of her, we will now expedite the remodel of the kitchen in our second home. Who would have thought that kitchen renovation can be fun?! Thank you Crystal, thank you DirectBuy!!!

We were building our house and we used DirectBuy a lot. Everything's been great. But they don't keep their suppliers long enough. That's my biggest thing. We just bought a bed and then never can get sheets from them anymore because they didn't know what will represent the supplier. Their spreadsheets are different and it's not like you just go buy sheets at the store, you have to buy specific kinds of sheets. And they've moved the location out of Utah so I guess we will deal over the telephone for everything now. But I've been a member of DirectBuy for about 12 years and the customer experience was great. It was damn expensive to join but it was worth it.

3 stars rates the order itself - and the fact that half the order, the dryer, took a month longer than the washer and pedestals. However, the Merchandise Specialist Grant, provided an exceptional level of service, pushing the vendor and proactively keeping me appraised of the situation. Rating the support experience itself would be 5 start.

Over the past few days I've had several communications (via both email and phone contact) with Alyce **, a Renewal Specialist at DirectBuy. She couldn't have been more knowledgeable, considerate, patient or kind. She assisted me with my renewal and what a pleasure she was to deal with. For some reason, although I had previously signed up for membership "auto renewal" it somehow 'fell off' your system, therefore Alyce called me to discuss and assist me with my renewal. I also had to make a change to my membership profile, which Alyce offered to handle for me. Her follow-up to my situation was also incredible. I believe that if all your employees were as knowledgeable & courteous as Alyce, you'd be running the most profitable company in the US! Thank you (Alyce!) for providing me with such great customer service and such a pleasant experience!! My friends are going to hear about this, too!

We called DirectBuy and asked for a key. Two weeks before, we had bought a TV from Future Shop that we thought we were getting a good deal on. But when we went in to have our meeting with DirectBuy, that same TV was standing there for two grand less, so that opened a few eyes. We've been a DirectBuy member for quite a few years. When signed up with them, our house was brand new, so we haven't worked on any project with them so far. Then, after we sold our house, we moved into a brand new condo, so everything was fairly new and we didn't need to change anything.
I've been to one of the showrooms for DirectBuy. We bought furniture, appliances and a bed from them, and our purchasing experience with them has been very good. So far, the quality of everything that we got from them has been very good and the cost was very good too. They should keep up the good work. We're building a house this year or next year, so we're gonna be using DirectBuy a lot. I'd always tell friends what I experienced with DirectBuy and convince them that buying from this company is worth the cost. I'll convince more people once I build my house because the majority of the stuff is gonna come from DirectBuy. When they ask me where I got my stuff, I'll say that I got them from DirectBuy.

We were going to have large purchases coming up and we thought DirectBuy would be a good deal. We haven’t made like tons of purchases, but we have made enough to probably make it worth our while. We’re just now waiting for notification on the most expensive thing we’ve ever ordered through DirectBuy. The website is okay, however, it is a little slow on its responsiveness. But for the most part, if you’re patient, it’s certainly better on a desktop. Also, the customer service has been really excellent. Every time I’ve emailed them, they’ve always gotten back to me right away. In order to make it worth their while, you have to be in a position to be in a state where you re going to be buying large ticket items. But then again, they have some jewelry things that are going on, too. So, a lot of times, I will shop that for presents. So, I’d tell my friends to work the numbers, and it has been a positive experience for us. I’ll keep my membership.

Her responses were very prompt, extremely courteous, and she even put me at ease when I expressed quality control concerns. Having worked in and managed customer service organizations myself, I am qualified to say that Teresa exhibits the epitome of excellent customer care. The merchandise of DirectBuy looks good. And we used to be able to go right here in New Jersey and pick up the stuff but that place is closed. So now it’s a little bit different. I like the quality of the products and the discounted prices of DirectBuy. We were buying a new house and we needed to fill it up sooner than later. We did the math and the money that we’d spent on the membership, compared to the savings that we’d have and it was beneficial for us. Buying from their website was a fairly good experience but maybe they should put the full pricing on because I know for some of the furniture that’s been shipped fresh from the US there’s some tariffs on there or some extra taxes that have to be added and it’s a little bit detracting. So I’ll price it out and then at the end, “Oh, by the way, here’s the shipping cost it’s going to be, X amount of dollars.” And it’s not shipping to my house, it’s shipping to the DirectBuy center. So I will go look at other places before I make my final decisions. But their price when it comes to the quality is fairly competitive.

We have purchased furniture from DirectBuy. We also redid our kitchen and two bathrooms, and we're in the process of doing the third one right now. I'm waiting on cabinets from DirectBuy for that project. We've gotten outside lighting and a bunch of stuff from them and our purchasing experience was slower than I would like, mainly because of the shipping process. I really stink at computers so I tend to call people and have them walk me through stuff, which helps. Nonetheless, the quality of the products was excellent because I know the brand of what I'm buying.

We went to DirectBuy's presentation on lower prices and on substantial quality goods for households. I was in the process of moving to a newly constructed house, so that appealed to us. We mainly got household things like washers and a dryer, sofas and dining room furniture. They're good quality and they were definitely cheaper than you could find on the street and retail market.
However, there’s a difference between purchasing now and then. At the time that I joined DirectBuy, it was a showroom store type deal where you went in, looked at things in the showroom and in books, and then you ordered what you wanted. Now, they have closed the showrooms and it’s online only. We got to know the owners of the store that we frequented, but now that it's online, it's a little bit different. I don’t enjoy it more. If you can go in and look, feel and touch something, that’s always the preference. I would recommend the original set-up, but now, not so much. I’m going to have to evaluate whether or not I am going to renew my membership at the end of this year.

When we bought our first home, we were looking to furnish it and our friend said that we could get good quality and good pricing from DirectBuy. I’ve been a member in the last 17 years and the buying experience has improved. It’s about going online, looking at a catalogue and then calling and letting them know what you need so it makes it easier. But sometimes, more options would be good. Whether it be by fabric choices, on upholstery, or even on appliances, the number of brands that are represented are limited. But now, the responsiveness is fantastic. Once or twice, you may have found similar items close to the same pricing, especially when you add the freight and stuff but it’s always a good value. I’ve recommended them to a few people and one of them became a member.

My husband likes to buy pre-packaged meat, like steaks, and he thought that DirectBuy was where you can buy meat. So, I said, “Well, do you want to go to this meeting?” They said, there’s a meeting, and he said, “Okay.” So, we went to a meeting and it was DirectBuy. We were sort of under the impression that if you did not buy it then, you were totally unavailable to buy it any other time in your life. It was like a pressure sale. But we are not upset with that because we like DirectBuy.
We were going to build a house. And I had a really bad headache and I said to my husband, “Let’s just buy it and get out of here because I wanted to go home. My head hurts.” And we ended up leaving at about 1 o’clock in the morning. But the rep we dealt with was very thorough and we thought it would be good if we purchased stuff from them to build the house. We didn’t build the house but we’ve furnished it a few times. We have done the flooring, the living room furniture, bedroom furniture for both our house and our cabin. And they were very good. We returned a bed once, that I’m positive that it wouldn’t have been replaced if it hadn’t been for DirectBuy.
I purchase online right now because we don’t have a direct purchase -- we don’t have a DirectBuy outlet here anymore. They are a concierge service only. So, the outlets or the storefront is closed. Before, we used to go to the store and go through a salesperson. The cost is good in relation to the quality of products and services they provide. We have been with them for 12 years now. I also know of other people in our community that are members and they have built treehouses. They’re satisfied with them also.

We were thinking about doing some work on our house and DirectBuy had some good deals on cabinetry and furniture. We buy most of our furnitures through them. I just bought some gladiator cabinets for the garage that showed up like three weeks ago. The purchase process has much improved over the last year. They got rid of the franchise model or at least the showroom. You call the concierge and they pretty much take care of it. Everything's brand new. You know exactly what you're getting. And I've mentioned them to people.

I had 3 separate orders to be delivered. Instead of having the delivery service deliver on three different days I let them combine the delivers into one. When all the orders arrived they said they could only deliver on Tuesday and Wednesdays. I had a conflict with those days and requested a Saturday delivery. The delivery company never called me back so I called the delivery team at DirectBuy and they were able to assist me with a Saturday delivery.

No Warehouses in SC & NC Anymore - Been members for 6-7 years. We used to be able to pick up our items at area warehouses, but they no longer offer it. Now, you have to pay shipping AND enhanced delivery which eats away ALL your savings. We were just quoted $200 extra dollars in fees just for a desk more than half was enhanced delivery from the warehouse after they receive it from the manufacturer.
We've had quotes on entire bedroom sets and still no savings because of Enhanced delivery fees, shipping fees and many times DB handling fees. All of my quotes have come back this way for nearly two years now, we're leaving DB at the end of our membership this year. DB kept promising they were looking for warehouses for nearly two years, but they finally admitted, they're not. I've been lied to repeatedly after spending nearly $6k on a membership.
It's not worth it anymore. No Savings anymore in our case because enhanced delivery is killing it!!! GET MY LOCAL WAREHOUSE BACK AND I'LL STAY!! They don't have local dealers anymore either so no pick up there either. I'm really, seriously unhappy. I have no intention of listing my Order numbers either because I'll probably be kicked as a member for this review.

We were looking to do some projects in our home and thought that we could realize some good savings, so we decided to be a member of DirectBuy. We've purchased furniture, we remodeled the kitchen and we remodeled a couple of bathrooms. So far, our purchasing experience has been good. The shopping experience is a bit challenging though because you have to do a lot of research, but overall it's been good. We felt their items have been a good value. Probably 90% of their products have been good. We've had a couple of things which was not what we expected, but that's where doing due diligence comes in. Overall, you can realize some substantial savings by shopping with DirectBuy.

When we built our house, we got a membership with DirectBuy and bought almost everything inside the house from them. We bought at least $30,000 of stuff including appliances, toilets, all the interior doors, and the wood flooring. And we just recently renewed our membership because we were buying some more stuff for the inside of the house. And the buying experience we just had now was really good. We went to the store in Fort Mill, South Carolina and back when they were first running the showrooms, it was a little tough because the places were crowded and they were short staffed. But after about seven months, they got a bunch of staff and they had design people who helped us pick stuff out. We spent a lot of time there, but it was worth it for we saved a ton of money. We saved at least another $40,000 on the stuff we bought.
DirectBuy has quality stuff, too. And we bought a whole new kitchen set from them. We live in a log home, so we have log furniture. And the set would have cost us around $6,000 to buy from the local store here, and through DirectBuy, it was $3,000 for the same product. There are people who are building in our neighborhood and we told them to look into DirectBuy.

There was a local store where I went to and the folks there were very helpful. They’d help me find a book and then when I knew which one, they’d help me fill out the papers. So, that was a good thing. But then they closed our local store a year and a half ago. We have found good things with DirectBuy. Initially, the website was a struggle to use but it has improved from what it used to be.
Since we were in the process of buying a second home, which is a resort rental, we've replaced the furniture there. We bought a recliner, a chair, some bar stools and a half sleeper, then we replaced the original sectional with a loveseat and a couch that are both sleepers. We also bought landscape lighting, pull handles for our kitchen cabinets and an entertainment center to set the TV on. As a user, it took a lot of time to do the research. The quality has been very good. Half of what we bought were names that we knew so we knew the product to begin with and we've been very happy with them.
The initial membership was expensive and the fee was consistent until the last two years, when they doubled it so that has been a little discouraging. It made me wonder whether I use it enough to pay the annual membership and we’ve been debating whether to keep the membership or not because it was harder to do things online. We picked up the membership after we bought the furniture. But we should’ve done it before. So I don’t think we have leveraged it to its full value.
Also, DirectBuy has a very buyer driven process. People got to be willing to do their research which is not for everybody. A lot of people just want to be able to go click and be done. I know some designers that would help spec out what you want trying to be helpful with the service and that makes it easier to use DirectBuy. But the question is whether that’ll work or not. You’d look through a manufacturer’s tab mark so it’s a little bit different kind of a research.
But over the year, we’ve done pretty good. I would tell my friends that they need to be somebody who’d be willing to spend the time and look because DirectBuy's not like a showroom where they could walk in, touch and feel most of the items. A lot of them were in books. So they have to be willing to read specifications and look through information.

I've been a member a DirectBuy member for two and a half years now. I was doing a lot of renovations then, and I liked their pricing and selections. We did a master bathroom renovation and we purchased from them the majority of the supplies for that. We’re also doing a kitchen and first-floor renovation, and we'll be purchasing a lot of the supplies for that. My experience with them has been great. They were very quick and my items were handled extremely well. They have all top end brands that we would have bought elsewhere, but we’re getting through them. Their products are extremely good quality and lasting. A lot of the products are known as some of the best in the industry. But I suggest that they enable engagement between the purchasers, the consumer, and the manufacturer on major orders to speed up processes instead of having to go through a third party to figure out details. Nonetheless, I'd recommend my friends to be DirectBuy members.

I liked the offers that DirectBuy advertised on the TV. I've been a member since 2005. Originally, we hesitated to join them because it was quite a bit of money. We had to pay about $3,000 subscription fee, but we said, Okay. It's probably worth very good because we intended to buy or build another house. We didn't use it for quite what we were thinking, but we've still been able to get pretty good use out of it. We enjoyed the benefits of being a member of DirectBuy for quite a number of years.
I bought a lot of stuff regarding finishing the backyard, around the home like basement wells that are actually stones. And we bought a TV set and range as well. We bought a dishwasher too. The quality of the products is excellent because DirectBuy locally here invited good merchants to sell their products. About two years ago, we attended a lot of local seminars and it was quite good because we learned stuff that we wouldn't have learned otherwise. The local DirectBuy offered us seminars and they invited people from different companies to present their products and we enjoyed each and every moment of the meetings we had with them.
We believe on top of this, we're going to benefit from DirectBuy very much so in about two years because we will be building another house. And we attended a few seminars on how to make the best kitchen. And one of the best choices is Cabico. Cabico is the company that delivers parts for kitchens and bathrooms through DirectBuy and they're located in Quebec, Canada. We will benefit because the kitchen and bathrooms will be expensive up to $40,000. So, we would get a discount. Otherwise, we would probably have to spend about $70,000. On top of this, we'll also have a chance to buy furniture through DirectBuy because another major American company called Ashley is closing in Ottawa.

We became members of DirectBuy last 2007. They had such a good presentation. I could see the quality of the kitchens and things, and it was explained that it was higher quality. It was like you would pay the same price as IKEA to get good quality. The people were really friendly too. There were also customers around the place that were actively looking for things. And we liked the whole milieu and the information. Plus we have two houses we're renting, so we would like not just replace one kitchen, but three of them. And we knew we would be doing a lot of renovations and furnishing places. We did three kitchens and the bathroom. And we did hardwood flooring like the wide plank, real thick oak flooring in two houses, blinds in two houses, the Hunter Douglas, appliances, and almost everywhere I look it's DirectBuy, like fireplace tiles, backsplash tiles, and bathroom floor tiles.
I keep going back to DirectBuy. I like going to a place that hasn't got the retail feeling and the people are helpful. I also can't believe the good quality things we have and how little I paid for it. With three houses this made a difference for us, because just the kitchen, we had three kitchens to absorb that and still save money. I love walking into DirectBuy.

We were young and just starting out. We thought that joining DirectBuy would be a good way to invest some money and be able to buy stuff over the years as we upgraded our houses. We've purchased appliances, some flooring, furniture, bedding, lighting. The only frustrating thing was the products come to the warehouse in Edmonton which was two and half hours away. There were trucking companies that had come to the town where we live in but we couldn't get DirectBuy to ship the products with one of those trucking companies. I've got to drive in to pick them up. But the quality of the products was very good. And we always get a better quality product for a good price. I'd recommend DirectBuy.

When we went in DirectBuy, they explained everything and we thought that would be a good idea 'cause we had just built a house and we needed some furniture. But over the years, we really haven't been buying that much so the membership gets expensive. We had bought a dining room set and we used DirectBuy to get the kitchen suite. We got eight chairs and a table, a TV, a fridge and a stove. Then we bought a couple for the kids.
Also, although the website is easy to navigate, it's not like being at the store and buying things. You can look through it and see exactly what you're getting. With DirectBuy, you really can't see what it's going to look like and that's the only problem at my age. The younger ones know exactly what's going on. But it's a little harder for older ones here. If you're building a new home and you got to get all new appliances, DirectBuy is a good idea. But you don't need much stuff after that.

The quality of the products is non-exceptional, but it's okay. For the most part, we were satisfied. The only thing is their pricing is not always the best. We bought a beach house and so I needed to furnish it. I was familiar with a lot of the furniture manufacturers because I just had redone my home, and when I was looking through the books at our orientation, I realized the savings that it would save me by joining DirectBuy. I have been a DirectBuy member for at least 10 I had purchased a lot of furniture, done a couple kitchens, gotten tools, equipment, TV's, lighting, fixtures, plus the appliances. I had three houses and I got three new dishwashers and range. And I'm totally satisfied with the quality of the items I received.
I do a lot of shopping there at DirectBuy. They had showrooms that I could go and look at the books and I could see the furniture and things are clearer than I can see on the computer. They also had all the upholstery samples if I wanted to pick out upholstery. I have ordered a couple of pieces of furniture where I had to pick fabrics and they sent me samples. When we were redesigning the kitchen, the consultant came out twice, was very accommodating and helpful and we worked everything out.
This past year, I had ordered a kitchen range. Unfortunately, I order these things if I saw them on sale and we were redoing a kitchen and I knew I was going to need a new range. When the order came, my husband was there to meet the movers and he had the garage door open. He's watching them take it off the truck and they dropped it into the truck. Then the guy even said that he was really mad because they didn't give him the proper truck with the lifters so they had to lift the stove off the truck. They opened the box and my husband inspected it to make sure that the glass top didn't crack with the knocking, but he didn't remove the blue tape down the sides. So more than a month later, we went to open the box and there was a dent in the door.
We called DirectBuy who tried to help us but it was the responsibility of the mover which was J.B. Hunt. DirectBuy said their return policies were within 30 and my husband had signed off on it. So here we are with the new range with a dent in the door. Other than that, everybody I've dealt with has been very helpful and whenever I call, they're very willing to look things up and get things for me. I have recommended DirectBuy and I have people that have joined DirectBuy from my recommendations.

My daughter was a DirectBuy member. I've been a member since the early 90s and we've had a good experience with it. I bought some appliances, we redid a kitchen so I got cupboards, and I also bought blinds and bathroom fixtures. They were good quality and the cost was fair. We've always had good luck with DirectBuy but I miss not having a store here. I live in a different city where the store used to be. And about two or three years ago, that store in Winnipeg closed.
I got a notice a while ago that DirectBuy was expanding and I noticed that in some of the reviews or comments, people were remarking how much the shipping costs have gone up, after there was three in a row that had remarked about increased shipping cost. And we're favoring that we're two hours from Winnipeg where for the most part the stuff is shipped. So, it's a long way for me to have to go. It cost me money to bring it here if I have to bring it from Winnipeg. I know some stuff will ship to the house. But anything like appliances and stuff, they have a warehouse there that it goes to. But I still have to bring it the 120 miles to Brandon. I will have to look at whether it's worth my while to renew my membership if the initial shipping cost goes up.

I would like to credit LaTosha ** on the excellent customer service she provided. I had received an e-mail regarding a renewal of a previous membership. At the time I joined DirectBuy I was married, but since then I have divorced. I did not want to renew my account still having my ex-wife on it. LaTosha was able to remove my ex-wife so the membership would only reflect myself as the only member. LaTosha also kept me informed through e-mails letting me know of the status. I ordered carpet and padding from DirectBuy. I was told initially to expect the carpet to arrive in about 3 weeks. The order was placed within a day and the installer received it 3 days after it was ordered. Compared to an installers estimate and carpet quality who did work on the side, the carpet from DirectBuy was so soft and plush that my daughter said, "I could sleep on this!"

We were building a new home at the time, and we needed a lot of things like fixtures for plumbing, furnitures, and floorings, so we joined Direct Buy and had been a member for a few years now and it was easier purchasing from DirectBuy. Everything we bought, we checked what it would have cost at other places and we could see if we’re saving money. A couple of weeks ago, we bought a barbeque and we saved quite a bit of money when I checked it out at a store.
They used to have an outlet in Pickering and they moved it to Markham, which was quite a ways to where we live now. There were different barbeques that we wanted, and only two of them could be purchased online and the rest we would have to go all the way to the outlet to order it. They had my phone number there at a concierge and they told us that we could order through them and they wouldn’t have to go to the Markham store. That worked out good and we got a word that it was ready to be picked up in their warehouse in Whitby, which was closer to us.
A week after we ordered the barbeque set, we got an email that said that a bunch of products we ordered should have no handling charge after March 1. But we ordered the set on February 20 and it was $3,700 and the handling charge was around $200. So we phoned them up and they said they couldn’t do anything with what was ordered and we had to pay for that. We could have waited to order it after March 1st if we had known. On other stores, if the price dropped within 30 days, they would rebate you that amount, but so far, DirectBuy hadn’t. Other than that, everything that we bought from DirectBuy had been great.

We got an invite to come to one of DirectBuy's seminars 13 years ago and we were in the process of starting to build. We decided to take advantage of it and be a member. The distance we have to go to the main center is a little aggravating, but when we get there my wife gets a support service so she'd be happy. I don't go with her because I can't stand shopping. I go at some place, I get it and I go out.
We built two houses and the biggest frustration is the wait to get the product. For example, we just had major delays as far as getting our appliances for our new house and the delays are putting my builders behind as far as installing certain things. Whereas you go to a store, you can buy the product right away and get it delivered without having to wait weeks and weeks because that’s a frustration. Anything we have to wait for, we budget the timeline for it. Like right now, we got our washer a couple of days ago that we thought was going to be delivered in November. But the frustration is a little better after you get the product and you've seen how much you save.
We bought products MAAX products for bathroom stuff and one of the items that we had was faulty and that’s been six years of frustration. I still haven't been able to get the right part because once you go through DirectBuy and get it, the suppliers of the products from MAAX won't warranty the products because we never bought from them. And so, I went in to get the product number of the item that was wrong and they gave me the wrong product number. But because I have never bought from them, I couldn’t return it. It was just a small valve but was still $200. I buy it without a return policy because I never bought the original product from them which if I would have gone through Lowe’s or to Home Depot and bought the product from them, they would have serviced it. As a result, I didn’t buy any MAAX products building this house, and I never bought my bathroom stuff from DirectBuy. It burnt the bridge that you would have had.
But despite all of our experiences with them, we came back and did it again. I recommended my builder to join DirectBuy for his building process. I gave him the positive and my frustrations and it's up to him to determine whether he wants to do it or not. Also, I'd tell friends the pros and cons, things that they have to do their homework on and things that are better deal, like we bought our kitchen and everything all the way through Best Buy at our first house, but I didn’t it buy it this time too because it was $5,000 cheaper for us to go and buy it from a custom builder.

When we took delivery of a new washer and dryer and two pedestals (ahead of schedule - thanks for that), one of the pedestals was missing. The DB team tracked it down, provided an update, and got it to us within 3 days. Both deliveries went well and were ahead of schedule on delivery day so we weren't waiting all day for a delivery man to show up. Well done to the entire team.

I've been with DirectBuy since 2006 and being a member has been worth it. When I was doing a lot of renovations like a new bathroom, a new kitchen, and an addition to the house, I purchased kitchen products, appliances, bathroom products, taps, wood flooring, and tiles from them. So far, most of the products are good quality and I saved a lot on them. I told some friends a few weeks ago about DirectBuy and they signed up.
I transact with DirectBuy Ottawa and I recently put another order of tiles with them. I initially ordered online but I canceled it because the color on their website was not even close to the one I wanted. I wanted to go look for my ceramic but the thing is, I didn't have the extensions for their Ottawa office. When I called their number, I was talking to someone from Alabama who didn't have any clue about what DirectBuy Ottawa dealt with. I am two hours away from Ottawa and if I wanted to go look for ceramic, I needed to drive into Ottawa to be able to go to the stores that deal with DirectBuy in order to see my tile.
I am also upset about their handling charges. It cost me almost $5,000 to join then every year, they grandfathered my amount which is fine because it has been 12 years. But I was told that they were going to charge me 8% so that they could get these prices for me and work with all the distributors. I asked the one in charge in their Ottawa office to explain to me why I have to pay them 8% when I was the one running around for my product. For instance, when I needed tiles, I was the one going to Euro Tile and Ceratec and I was the one checking all of these places out. She brought it down to 4% but she still didn't tell me why I needed to pay the handling fees.
It also gets expensive when you have to pay shipping on top of their handling charges. For example, if you pay $160 for shipping, you get another 115 for handling. But if I go to the store, buy all of my appliances, and have them delivered at home, it's going to cost me less because of the handling, shipping, and everything else that DirectBuy charges. Aside from that, the customer service in their Ottawa office has changed a lot. In the beginning, I could go to a showroom and there were people everywhere that were there to help me. It was frustrating because I had to wait since they were busy, but that was fine. Now, if I go in their store, I have to go and do my own stuff.

We have bought many things from DirectBuy and we saved a ton of money. We retired and moved on a little lagoon and a small house. We had floors we bought from them that we love. We also bought end tables, outside lamps that we've saved a ton of money on, and we did a washer and dryer at one point. Save for when we did our own kitchen and bought the appliances where there weren't enough savings, anything that we have gotten from DirectBuy has been a nice saving. It was nice when they had the showrooms, and now their concierge service is good. Bernadette, the girl who helped us with our kitchen, was wonderful.

I recently renewed my membership with DirectBuy. I signed up with them five years ago when they came to the Dallas area. Becoming a member was very costly since it was $5,000 when I initially came on board, but I saw it as a good investment and an opportunity to recover that money in buying things that I would be buying through the years.
It was wonderful purchasing with DirectBuy too. Everybody was very friendly and answered any questions I had. Normally, I would go online and do some research and then go to the store. So, it didn’t take me long to make the purchase and I got out of there in a minimum amount of time. Everything I bought was high-end and from well-known brands. I bought a recliner chair, silverware, plantation shutters for my house, an entertainment piece of equipment, and a TV. However, the location that I initially purchased from has relocated and it’s not quite as convenient for me. Nevertheless, I certainly go there. Also, if a friend is curious about DirectBuy and can afford the membership, I'd tell him to do it.

We were building houses and remodeling and we thought that DirectBuy could really work for us. I was part of them many years ago and we've done tile, our whole kitchen, appliances, bathrooms, and the name brands that we got were good quality and I've saved thousands and thousands of dollars with them. Recently, we bought a bedroom set and dining room chairs from them. But, I was sad that I bought the Direct Vacation. They said they would give me so much money and I could get these points and use them. But when I went to use the points, I cannot use all of the points for one vacation. I got much better value for the Timeshare I own and I could also go to Costco and get a vacation for even a better price. It's not worth the value of what I paid for and I would love my money back.
When there was a DirectBuy store here, it was wonderful and so easy and they made us feel like family. The people knew us and gave us assistance, and there were vendors from the local community and they give really good discounts if you use them, but they don't have any of that now. Their new system is impersonal and it makes me want less. The site is not user-friendly and they have fewer things than they used to offer. Even the reviews that came to their services were not that useful to us. I would tell my friends that DirectBuy is worth the value, but they have to work hard to find what they want.

Just following up to our order as it was shipped to the wrong warehouse and we had already made arrangements for pickup. Not tracking the order. Fay in customer service was VERY helpful and took the time to assist us in locating our order. She even took the time to make calls to the warehouse to see if someone was there. Unfortunately, the warehouse isn’t open until 10am. DirectBuy needs more people like Fay. Not to say that we haven’t had great service from others at DirectBuy but she was very pleasant to speak with especially early in the morning. Keep up the good work!!!

I've been a member of DirectBuy for so many years. A friend of mine was a member and I was doing a bunch of remodeling in my house then. I've done windows, doors, kitchen appliances, kitchen cabinets, some plumbing fixtures, everything that you could put in a house. I've also ordered furniture, ceiling fans, lots of things. They're still brand new stuff and it's been good quality. But I liked them a little better before because we had a DirectBuy center near me. I wish there was a local center but I know that's not the direction they're going. I had a relationship with the people in the center and that really helped me a lot when I was doing my big projects. And I miss that 'cause I don't have that any longer. But now, it's all online and the concierge service is very good. DirectBuy is worth the membership.

She requested a photo of the broken piece and contacted American Woodcrafters every day to confirm their commitment for the replacement part, including a tracking number. When it arrived, we let her know it arrived in good condition. We are extremely pleased at her attention to every detail at every step of the process.

I originally came from the state 12 years ago and we were readying to furnish a new home up here. We heard that the savings on appliances and stuff at DirectBuy would be good, and we've been a member ever since. We have bought all kinds of things there, like washers, dryers, a couch and a chair. I just had a floor put in downstairs on Monday. You can order online for some things and some things you have to go the showroom for. There are two people in the showroom that will take your order and payment there. Tonya has been with them a really long time and she's a wealth of knowledge. When you ask her a question, she'll get back to you right away and look into it, so that's more like a personalized service. The showroom is smaller now since they moved to another site so you don't see as many things there as you used to see, but you can look at them online.
Usually you get a high-end product at DirectBuy for the amount of money you would get for a lower-end in Lowe's or Home Depot. So the higher-end the product is, the more savings you have on it. And they run specials all the time. If my friends were going to purchase a home or do their home over, DirectBuy would be something for them to look into.

I dealt with Barbara ** when I got around to ordering the chairs. Larry had originally quoted them for me - life got busy and I did not order them. Then I saw there was no service charges levied with Hooker Furniture, which motivated me to order. So, my original (Larry) order had expired. Called and spoke with Amy at concierge desk. She was lovely. The quote needed to be done again. Fine. Hours later Amy called to see if I was ready to pay - had not received the new quote. So Amy sent it to me. The description was not correct and I have sadly learnt from experience that if the description is not accurate you own something you have no use for. So, I asked for it to be re-done properly.
At that time, I also pointed out that Larry had provided a weight of 400 pounds - and Barbara had bumped the weight to 550 pounds. Amy said she would have Barbara correct it. Never heard again that afternoon (although it was to be done immediately so I could wrap it up). I went home, and do not access my work e-mail from home.
On Monday I came in - the description had been corrected, but not the weight. I called again and was told that it would be corrected. And it was - unfortunately, since my 3 days were up, they did a new quote and the exchange rate went from 1.2650 to 1.28. I called again, and asked for the original rate be held since the number of mistakes and timing delay were laughable. I was refused. Then I tried to pay. It says to use the first initial of the person (the letter was addressed to R). However, it had been set up that the initial I was to use was J. Again, I had to call. What should have been a 15 minute exercise has been extremely frustrating and a major waste of time!!!

We got a free invitation from DirectBuy to come take a tour and we liked what we were hearing, so we decided to pick some numbers. We've been with them since 2006 and we've bought quite a bit, like a kitchen counter, cabinets, a bunch of appliances and flooring. Whenever we purchase, we look for the product, make the call and then get the price, and if we like it, we just place the order. Some items are not effective cost-wise, but everything we've purchased so far has been great. We focused more on the high-end appliances more than anything and we get to choose what it is, so we know that what we're getting from DirectBuy is quality. We've recommended them to many friends. It just depends on them being able to join 'cause where we live, there's not a showroom anymore. So everything we have to do is either through the catalog or online.

After hearing about how good some of the prices and products at DirectBuy were, I wanted to go out and have a look for myself. I’m getting into real estate investing and I could use some of the big discounts on things to put in the homes. I bought a nice barbecue and a wristwatch a couple of years ago, and both products were delivered on time. Quality was excellent and the cost was very good. There are some great savings at DirectBuy and I'd highly recommend them if others were looking to make some big purchases.

Hello. I recently tried to get a correct quote for a Napoleon barbecue from DirectBuy. First when I added it to my cart, the shipping and handling was included, even though there was a promotion that there would be no shipping and handling. When I spoke to an agent on "live chat", my request and member number was incorrectly put through to Barb ** at concierge shopping. I never did get my quote for the barbecue - just given grief that I had given the incorrect membership # - which I had not!
So, once again we are very dissatisfied with the DirectBuy "experience" and went to Nanaimo and purchased the very same model of Napoleon barbecue (with a free cover included) for less than what it was going to cost through DirectBuy! No hassle, no outrageous shipping and handling charges, and no driving 120km to get the merchandise!!
Quite frankly, it looks more and more like we are throwing away good money every year to maintain a membership with DirectBuy. I was also very displeased with the bedroom set I ordered as it has tiny wormholes all through the wood! I wouldn't have bought it had I known. Quite frankly, what a rip off! Local and on-line stores are getting as competitive anyways, so when you add the insane shipping and handling, plus driving over 120km to get the order, and lack of accountability when something isn't right, why should I continue to maintain this rip-off membership?!?

I went to DirectBuy and they showed me the products that they had. And I owned rental properties. The cost that it would take me to flip them was a lot cheaper through DirectBuy. I’ve enjoyed everything I purchased from them. They closed a lot of their stores, though, and purchasing from them was a lot easier when they had more stores. But overall, my experience has been good. Also, they price match. But they aren't able to do it with some of the things because there are stipulations. There is a lot more competition for online sales. I’ll tell my friends that if they’re looking at doing any remodeling or purchasing all new furniture for their house, going through DirectBuy will be worth it. But if they’re not the type where they’re going to be spending money on remodeling or they’re normal consumers, then they’re not going to get their money’s worth out of it.

I had the privilege of speaking with Audrey when I called the customer service line today, March 3, 2018. I have to admit, I called with the intent of allowing my account to expire because I have not used it for several years and the annual fee had increased substantially. Audrey quickly let me know that I would always be a part of the Direct Buy family even if my account became inactive and how I could reactivate it in the future.
She shared all of the changes and updates and suggested that I take the time to look at the variety of purchases that can now be made. Also, I now know that items are shipped directly to you and she introduced me to the app which I’ll definitely use. Audrey determined that I was looking to update some furniture items and offered a 60 minute complimentary interior design consultation that I am very excited about. I’m very excited to explore Direct Buy again thanks to Audrey. Lastly, Audrey’s customer service was exemplary and I look forward to a continued relationship with Direct Buy.

I was in the middle of buying a house. And I knew that I was going to need a lot of furniture and other kinds of hardware and plumbing supply. I went with DirectBuy's sales pitch and convinced it would be a good thing for me. I've been a member for 10 years and I bought plumbing supplies, hardware, lots of indoor and outdoor furniture, outdoor umbrellas, rugs, area rugs, dishes, and glasses from them. When they had the actual, physical location, I enjoyed purchasing from them because I could go in and I could immediately speak to somebody. I could touch and feel the catalogs and go through them. And I could see the samples immediately on the day that I wanted to see it for the most part because they had a lot of the catalogs and the samples inside of the store that I went to.
And then when I went to the transition of closing the stores, it wasn’t so good. But they’ve gotten much better at it. And I have a concierge shopper, Lindy, and she’s phenomenal. I can reach out to her five of seven days a week. And then there’s usually somebody who sits in for her if I need something immediately. Lindy has been very responsive. She gets back to me right away with pricing if it’s not online, or if I can’t find something in a catalog, she’ll look it up for me and find out the price for DirectBuy. So she bridged the gap between sitting in a storefront and waiting for someone to help me. They get backlogged sometimes and they didn’t have enough helpers. But with Lindy, I’ve gotten used to emailing her and within a few hours, she’ll get back to me and give me the information that I need. So, it’s improved dramatically over the last three years where I’ve had a concierge shopper.
DirectBuy has been consistent with the quality of the products that one can get on the open market from the same manufacturer. I am not happy with the restrictions that the manufacturers have put on DirectBuy in terms of what they can sell. As an example, if I go to Lenox, I can buy Lenox but I can’t buy their Kate Spade line. Lenox is going to deal with DirectBuy then let me buy Kate Spade, too. But when it comes to the quality of the product, they’re very good for what they sell.
I would recommend DirectBuy. I’ll tell my friends that if they were going through a remodel, they should definitely join DirectBuy because they’ll save a lot of money on the remodel. But that it also depends on what their contractor’s willing to do. In the old days, there was a list of contractors that agree to allow you to purchase the products from DirectBuy and then you could use them to do your construction.

I was contacted by Tina from DirectBuy to respond to my concerns. She was very helpful and I am upgrading my review to 4 stars because of this. She explained that the "handling charge" has always been a part of the final price. You can see this charge by clicking on the plus sign next to the final price, which will give you a breakdown of the club price to you, the handling fee, and the shipping charge. This was helpful and most items don't have much of a handling fee. Having said that, I am still a little miffed about the $1,100.00 handling fee that only appeared when I got the final bill for my 15K worth of Brookwood cabinets. Secondly, Tina did explain why many of the local stores closed. And as far as DirectBuy dropping brands like LG and Samsung, it was either "there was no demand for these products", or "these companies didn't want to give us a deal worth competing against the deals out there in the market". I would imagine the latter explanation were more probable than lack of demand for these products. As it turns out, internet competition is stiff and DirectBuy may be too small to compete against the Big Box stores. That's why I am more likely to find the higher-buck items at a discount at DirectBuy than the low profit margin items. And finally, with regard to my complaint that certain brands, like Rev-A-Shelf and the LeGrand Adorne switches, are cheaper at DirectBuy UNTIL you add in the handling fee and shipping, she said I should contact them to bring these issues to light. She did send me a copy of the DirectBuy Savings Guarantee, which I haven't reviewed yet, but could possibly resolve the shipping cost issue. I do understand that it is difficult to compete with internet pricing and I will admit that DirectBuy has saved me anywhere from 10% to as much as 30% on some items (including the handling fee and shipping), but I still wish they had a bigger selection and the ability to negotiate better deals from the manufacture. Incidentally, I just looked at the DirectBuy website and no longer see where they are offering Rev-A-Shelf products any more. Maybe DirectBuy agreed with me that this company had their products priced higher than anywhere else. Good for DirectBuy for dropping them, if that is true. Now if they could only let potential cabinet buyers aware of the existence of the costly handling fee when getting quotes on cabinets ahead of time. Overall, I think they are working towards improving their value to customers.

We have been a member for over 20 years. However, the company has started to provide less services and savings over the last few years and seem to be getting worse. Here is a summary of my recent gripes: 1) closing of showroom(s), 2) those notorious handling fees, 3) prices can be 20% higher or more than elsewhere, and 4) less selection than before. Let me explain. Since our local showroom in Portland closed we have to purchase products either online or go through a concierge service. This is move poses a few more hassles than before. Plus, you have to pay a deposit for the concierge service (refundable with purchase) when ordering things like cabinets. We never had to do this until the last year or so. This would be OK if it would add to the savings, but it doesn't seem to. Then there is the maddening "handling fee" that I don't recall paying in the past.
For example, we just ordered around 15K worth of Brookwood cabinets at the 10% off special. Not too bad of a deal until you get hit with the handling fee than all but wipes out the 10% discount. It would have been really nice if when they started to give us initial quotes on the cabinets, they mentioned the handling fee. But no, they sprung that on us at the very end. In addition, any of the cabinets with a Rev-A-Shelf product jacks the price up 20 to 50%. I was able to get a Rev-A-Shelf pull out cabinet on Amazon for 60% less than I was quoted by the concierge service. This is probably Brookwood gouging the customer, and not DirectBuy, but in actuality, buying any Rev-A-Shelf product through DirectBuy is way too expensive. However in all fairness, without the Rev-A-Shelf additions, I think I saved roughly $3K to maybe $4K on cabinets overall from Brookwood through DirectBuy.
Another gripe is that the products may be close to wholesale at DirectBuy, especially high buck items, but the shipping costs may make the deal worthless. For instance, when the manufacturer adds the cost of shipping to any LeGrand Adorne products, the cost is roughly 20% higher than Amazon (with shipping included as well). Why bother offering products at so-called wholesale prices which are way more costly than what you can get elsewhere.
Finally, there is now less selection at DirectBuy than before. They recently had appliances available from Samsung and LG, but not anymore. And if you want to buy a Ring doorbell, great, but try to buy other products from Ring. To be fair, I think having a DirectBuy membership has more advantages than disadvantages, but only if you are in the market for big-buck items that they happen to carry. But always compare prices. They were a great company years ago. Let's hope they can redeem themselves in the future.

We were doing a major renovation at the time and I could see that a membership with DirectBuy would pay for itself. We've had them for 15 years now. The process of purchasing through them wasn't difficult and it seemed to work very well, although we haven't used their service enough in the last few years to make it worthwhile. Everything we got were name brand products, so generally the quality was good. But the renewal rate is getting too high, so we're thinking of dropping our membership with them. When we first renewed, it was 150 bucks a year and now it's up to 300 plus. Also, knowing that the company is in dire straits makes me even less enthusiastic to pay a high rate.
We paid three grand upfront years ago. I thought the rate was fixed and I didn’t realize that it was going to escalate, and I'm not happy about that. I'd tell friends who are participating in DirectBuy to make sure they have enough use of the service to make it worthwhile and to justify the cost. Unfortunately, we were guilty of sometimes buying stuff somewhere else because we could get it right away, instead of getting it through DirectBuy.

The DirectBuy membership was gifted to me by a family member and she said lots of good things about it. The website was good, and if there was something I needed, I just went on and searched for that and not a whole lot of time was spent on it. I’ve been a DirectBuy member for about four months, and I have bought a mattress, a bed frame, and a coffee table. The cost was fair, and I’ve been very pleased with the quality of the products.
I have been waiting on the bed frame and mattress for a while now. I ordered the coffee table a couple of months ago and I still don't have it as well. But I’m not in any rush and they said it would take six to eight weeks. And whenever I’ve emailed, people got back to me right away and told me the delivery date. If you’re going to get a discount, you can’t expect to get your things in immediately. As long as you’re aware of what you’re getting into, like how long you can wait for your product, you will be pleased with DirectBuy. I’ve had a great experience so far with them.

We got a membership with DirectBuy as we thought about new appliances and building a home in the future and the opportunity to go ahead and save some dollar on that. We had purchased a bed and some chairs from them, but we haven't taken advantage of our membership like we should. We’ve submitted some things for them to quote on and gotten some great response out of their concierge service. We used to enjoy the fact that there was some showroom experience but now there’s no more showroom here. There used to be one Colorado Springs and in Denver where there were cabin logs from everywhere and they had a lot of display.

We were purchasing a whole set of appliances for our cottage, and we wanted to save on cost so we thought it was a good idea to become a member of DirectBuy, just like my nephew. Our purchasing experience has been good, but the only thing that rubs me wrong is the handling fee, which to me is baloney. My husband almost canceled the whole thing when we were setting up because it was one thing to pay our tax, but then there was 8% handling fee on top of it. We spent maybe $14,000, and the 8% handling fee was not acceptable when you were spending that kind of money because we expected to get a deal. That was not a good public relation, and it would be nice if they waived that fee.
It was also annoying that DirectBuy did not deliver our purchases. Our purchase got put in the warehouse and then we had to get it ourselves, and while they had delivery people, they charged for it. I paid $900 to have a refrigerator delivered to my cottage at the end of April, and I’m nervous about it. The refrigerator is heavy, so they need four guys, and if they drop my fridge, I'm not going to be happy. I spent $700 on a membership, and we have been a member of DirectBuy for only a couple of months, but we probably will not keep our membership after this coming year because of the handling fee, which is garbage. There are a lot of places aside from DirectBuy to go to next time. If DirectBuy wants to get in touch with me or reimburse me my 8%, that would be lovely.

I was in the process of a home remodel and I got interested in checking DirectBuy out to see if the savings would be there. We've done flooring, furniture, cabinets, and some miscellaneous household items through them. I typically research online and then contact DirectBuy to see if there's availability for the items I've found. It takes a little bit of work on my end, having to research what I am interested in, but other than that, there have been savings going through DirectBuy.
Unfortunately, they closed the local DirectBuy membership office here in the Chicago market. It was helpful to be able to look through their catalog and things. And now, the nearest one is in Indiana, which is far away for me. Also, sometimes the shipping time can be long. Other than those, one of the main benefits of my DirectBuy membership is that for many cases, a similar price gets an upgraded product. And the quality of the products has been very good. The cost of the membership is somewhat expensive unless you're doing a major project. You can recover your membership fees and then some quickly. If you're not doing a major project, it would take you a long time to justify the total membership fees.

I've been a DirectBuy member for at least 5 years. We do real estate fixing blips and we have the ability to purchase our appliances through them. I love them and I've saved a ton of money with them. There are a couple of things that could do some better pricing but overall, the majority of things are substantially less than I would pay in retail. I usually buy furniture online from them and the process is good. However, they need to reach out to their appliance manufacturers and get a better price because we're not getting that much of a discount on the appliance side. On the furniture side, I saved $2,000 on the mattress and $1,000 on the couch. With DirectBuy, you’re going to get more furniture and a higher quality in the same amount. I would definitely recommend them.

I called in to get clarification on a couple shower doors by Kohler. I was told it would take a couple of days to hear back from Kohler. I did get a response back and clarification on the doors I had in question and to my surprise she took it upon herself to order a door. I received an invoice to pay for a door that I did not want or even discussed with Jennifer. I don't know what Jennifer thought by taking upon herself in doing this but I find it not an acceptable business practice. I called the customer service dept to cancel the order and told it was not possible, really! That I would have to wait 30 days and it will cancel itself. Again, this is ridiculous. I expect a call from management to discuss this issue and maybe some additional training is warranted.

Back in 2004 when I became a member at DirectBuy, there was not a lot of online shopping so it was quite attractive. Moreover, they provided great savings. Over the years, I've purchased quite a bit of furniture, tubs, and sinks from them. It was very easy to purchase things and it has only gotten easier, especially with the new company that took over. However, their website could be better as it is so glitchy. They offer a fair amount of choices, but I wish they had more high-end products.
Also, their prices aren't as good as it was 10 years ago and they're not as competitive. I just purchased a stand-alone tub and after all the fees, I could have bought it here from a designer and it would have been the same with her 30% off. Moreover, we're building right now and it was a hassle to go pick up the product so if I could have gotten a similar same deal from someone here and they delivered, I would have chosen that. DirectBuy sells tubs, taps and other home renovation stuff. However, you can just get the same products through your builder or a designer for the same price and a lot less hassle. I like DirectBuy and I'm going to keep my membership for sure. I'm in the building industry and I recommend to a lot of people to purchase a DirectBuy membership. However, I will be very careful of any home improvement items that I buy.

I went into the home development business and thought it made sense for me to join DirectBuy. I’ve been a member for a year and a half now and purchased veneer stone, appliances, and home rental stuff from them. I purchased a microwave and a kit, and I spent the last three and a half days with internal issues in their payment system. I keep bumping around from one department to another with a response saying “It’s a technical issue, talk to the technical department”. I was very frustrated and it took a lot of my time. They need to talk to within their department, within the computer software systems and fix it. It took too long to figure out what the issue was and I still don’t know what it was. I’ve had to call my credit card company and they said they don’t even see the transaction.
I went back to customer service and they sent me through to the technical department and they said there was nothing wrong there. I saw a considerate effort to try to improve the pricing of the products itself. I’m very happy with their products and my impression is that they’re trying their best to improve the customer service on the internal side of things and it’s a long way to go. I’m going through a lot of aggravation to save a few dollars and I’m blowing my brains out trying to follow-up and get things purchased and coordinated. Nobody from them has called to get the issue resolved and it was horrendous.

I have been a member of DirectBuy since the 1980s. The builder of my house turned me to them and since I was going to have to finish my downstairs, I figured it would be worth the while to join so I did. I liked the ability to save money and to make the purchases. In 2008, I was a tornado victim. I bought everything there, including siding and new furniture. I spent up to $70000.
There have been a couple of issues here and there but they've always resolved them. But they have failed me a couple of times like in the availability of products and in the direction catalog. Sometimes when I'm trying to get something, it's no longer available. I couldn't make it in. It's like I'm trying to get their end of order stock. Other than that, they have good quality products and the cost is very acceptable. I have recommended DirectBuy to a number of people. But I wish for them to open a facility up in the Hampton Roads area in Virginia. They had one but closed it.

We’re pretty good shoppers with DirectBuy and always look there first. We've been with them since May of ’88 and we're pleased with them. We've bought Samsonite furniture and Sam Moore chairs. When Stanley was a furniture vendor, we got Stanley stuff. Charleston Forge has been one and of course, we still get good value on the rugs compared to the online prices so we’ve gotten Saria, Nourison and Ludlow. Hooker Furniture is what we’re using now and we've bought something from Riverside, although I wasn’t as pleased with its updated look. The styling was a little more out of date than I thought and I didn’t care for the finish. I also really like Uttermost's stuff.
However, we wish that there wasn’t such a cost on the freight end of things because we can no longer have things delivered to the Fort Worth location and pick them up there. We have to have home delivery and that adds another $100 to the cost so it’s not competitive like it used to be. As more and more online businesses have taken off, the less generous the discounts that DirectBuy can do. Also, the vendors are getting fewer and fewer, so people aren't exposed to as many vendors. Moreover, it's mostly imported stuff.

We bought a chair from Bassett Furniture about 10 months ago and one of the main supports snapped on it. I have never had to deal with warranty through DirectBuy in the past so was concerned as to how it would be handled, they were great!! They were in constant contact with me via email to keep me updated as to how the warranty claim was progressing and had a new chair shipped to our local distribution center within approximately two weeks. We've been DirectBuy members for 12 years and we've been generally happy with them. The better prices, the deals, and the selections at the time were the reasons we went for them. We had a new home construction with them and then now, we're having repairs, upgrades and then appliances. The cost seems up-tipped a little bit and there seem to be some more handling fees but for the most part, it's good. We've referred people to them and some people have signed up and joined.

DirectBuy was referred to me. I anticipated that there would be a significant amount of value brought through membership, and closing the local showroom was an impact. We built a house, so we purchased quite a bit of building materials type things for construction, and we bought some bedroom furniture, too. In addition to that, I just bought a golf simulator through them, and we anticipate to use the Travel. I’m also in the building sales industry, and there were a lot of products that DirectBuy couldn’t provide me any value to, which was fine, but there were a lot of products that they could, and I think we have tried to leverage as much as possible.
I do quite a bit of research before I go into purchasing a product, so I have a pretty good idea of what I am going to get. Overall, the value of what we bought was good, and we are happy about it. However, it would be great if it could be a lot more interactive between the app and the website. I understand losing the showrooms overhead, but, at least, if we can make the website a bit easier to use, it would make a big difference. You look at other online retailers, and it’s night and day. I have been a member with DirectBuy for probably a little over a year now, and I recommend them on various things where I know had some significant savings or value.

We purchased furniture through DirectBuy which was made by Abbyson Furniture. Within the first year the leather started to peel. DirectBuy sent out a company to repair it. The repair did not work so I contacted DirectBuy again. Even though they were not obligated, DirectBuy refunded my entire purchase of the couch, loveseat and recliner!! Then, we were working on some bigger projects here and we thought maybe we could save some money going through DirectBuy for some other things, so we became a member again and it has been two months since. A long time ago, we furnished our new home with all DirectBuy furniture. The experience when purchasing at DirectBuy was excellent. They were so thorough and so helpful. They were also prompt at getting back if I had a question about something, and they always did their research. They were responsive and they went the extra mile. However, their selection has become very limited in comparison to what it was five years ago. Nevertheless, if people have some big projects, they should give DirectBuy a try. I had a very good experience with DirectBuy and was happy with it.

I've been a member of DirectBuy for 15 years. At the time, we were starting to build a cottage and we were going to do a lot of spending on building supplies and what not. We bought appliances, beds, jewelry, fireplaces, bathroom stuff, bedroom furniture, and living room furniture. We did our research first so the quality of the products is excellent. Some products have better discounts than others. There are some things that I'll look at but wouldn't bother buying since the very little bit that I save is not worth it. For instance, smaller appliances aren't worth it. In addition, single items with a shipping cost so substantial that it would cheaper to just to go buy at the store are also not worth it. Overall, I've had a good experience with DirectBuy.

Upon signing up for a DirectBuy membership, I was assured by Rachel that there is no hassle to cancel the membership. After calling a year later to cancel, there was no documentation of my request or phone call. They continued to charge me monthly for 6 months. After calling Steve, Victoria, and Jeremy, my membership is still not canceled and is currently be investigated. I would strongly encourage anyone who is interested in discounted goods to NOT join DirectBuy. Dealing face to face with a contractor or brick and mortar businesses is much more beneficial and productive. Do NOT waste your money with this membership. It is a waste and it will take too much of your personal time and cause headache after headache to cancel.

I was doing a new build and everybody was telling me to work through DirectBuy, buying stuff, and they were saying that I can save a lot of money on cabinets and certain items they were telling me about so I gave it a shot. When I researched it, they changed the ransom from a big lump sum in the beginning to monthly which made it friendlier to use. From then, it’s as if they’re rolling base to see if it works out or not but I thought that I got into a contract for a couple of years and everything’s a balancing act between certain things. When I walk into people’s houses, they’re talking about it. There were lots of people that I ran into that are happy with them from four years ago so it’s a word of mouth from one person to the next so I had an idea of using them.
There are some things that they can do really well and there are some things that they are trying to compete with contractor rates but can’t. I ordered $22000 worth of cabinets and the cabinets seem to be ball-parked really good for the price so far. It would be great to have more access to be able to have stuff in bulk order shipped to the house. It would be great to have more access to be able to have stuff in bulk order shipped to the house and that’s a little easier than going to Edmonton to pick it up because that’s a six-hour drive for me although I’ll be saving the sales tax to pick it up. It's not worth it compared to buying local. Also, they have got a lot of good choices on lighting but if they’re competing with the contractor level, some were good and some were at break even.
It looked like there was no use of going that route, but with cabinets, I’m $22000 into them, and I’m going to be ordering my door locks through them and we’re looking at the lighting fixtures right now. Down the road, it’s bedroom suites and dining room suites, and all that fun stuff that comes into play. I’m going to put that to the test once I have a host to bring items into it but now, I’m just at the drywall stage. Service-wise, it’s really good and I get a response back quickly if I send a request in by email and things are usually dealt with right away in the sense of not letting somebody hang out there. Everything is transparent and I’d give them a high recommendation.

Our experience with DirectBuy has been great. We recently placed an order for furniture and the person we spoke to was very friendly and helpful. We've been a DirectBuy member since 2002 and we like the savings. We also get good quality stuff for a good price. We got some mattresses, refrigerators, bedroom furniture, kitchen doorknobs, actual doorknobs, toilets and lighting fixtures, and our purchasing experience has been fine. But, I wish the warranty process was a lot better. Sometimes, the follow-through on warranty for anything we purchase is more difficult in getting it replaced. Other than that, I am very satisfied with DirectBuy and I would tell a friend that it's definitely worth signing up for. They would just have to weigh out the cost versus benefits.

I've been a member of DirectBuy since 2004. Back then, I just moved into a new house and I was doing a lot of remodeling. I bought appliances, TVs, furniture, blinds, and just about everything. I liked the old way of going to the store and going through the catalogs. The catalog used to give all the specs. I couldn't find the specs online until I found out I have to scroll down the bottom of the pages. I had trouble online at first. I went into the store again and I was instructed on how to find the stuff I wanted online. So, now, I'm happy with it. However, I have so much trouble navigating the stupid website and I don’t think I was ever able to get on it. It isn’t user-friendly and whoever made it is a moron. Anybody over 50 has great trouble with these websites, and theirs needs to be for us seniors. Other than that, you can save money by joining DirectBuy.

I've been a member for 10 years now and I've been happy with DirectBuy. I'm dealing with them because their pricing is more competitive. I've bought a number of items from them, normally, products that I've vetted elsewhere or I'm already aware of, such as mattresses and most recently, a pair of headboards for a bed and it has been seamless. They've modified their customer service over the years to the point where they have like a concierge service. You just e-mail them, tell them what you're looking for and you get a timely response from them. They let you know whether the item is in stock and if so, how long it will take to take delivery. You can also surf their website to look at the different things to see what you want and then email them. If you have any intention of making home improvements, it would be an excellent investment. You would get your annual membership fee out of it quickly, depending on how much you have planned to buy.

Faye was a tremendous help in assisting me. She went above and beyond expectations. The REASON for my call is as follows: I will say the issue she assisted me on could have been avoided if the 'cart' would have operated properly. The 'cart' had two items already in it plus the slot to "renew" my membership. During checkout it simply asks, Do you want to pay for entire cart or renewal membership only. I click the box that said renewal only and proceeded. Once I hit approved it paid for everything that was in the "cart" and not just the renewal. I believe that is very misleading and should be corrected. If click "renewal" only then that's all that should be paid. This issue should be corrected because some patrons may not notice the payments.

Lorene helped me order new appliances for our new house. She also helped me with updates to my account and look into the available rebates for KitchenAid. She had a great personality and was eager to assist me. She went over some of the new features of the website so I could find items on my own. I have stopped shopping at many places because they use foreigners who have poor English or read a script. Lorene listened and put input into the conversation. Thanks!

I have been with DirectBuy for six years. I could get products at reduced prices and my purchasing experience got better since they went through online service. Their website is fairly easy to navigate if you’re computer-literate. It's self-explanatory once you go in. The appliances that I've ordered from them have been very good but I did not like the sofa. It was cheaply-made, which means, you really get what you paid for. With the furniture purchases, you can never really tell what you’re getting if you don’t sit on it.

We were doing some renovations and we were able to get good savings with DirectBuy. We bought some cabinets and flooring and our purchasing experience was straightforward. We looked at the samples that they had. And as for the cabinets, there was a competent adviser there who helped us with planning the layout. So far, we’ve gotten value for the membership money we spent. We've been a DirectBuy member for 10 years now and I have recommended them to people. If you're buying regular day-to-day stuff, you might not do savings at DirectBuy. But if you’re doing a major project or if you do a lot of purchases of higher-end items, it’s certainly worth investigating.

Faye was so very helpful in helping me. I had some easy questions I was embarrassed to call on but I have had a concussion and on some things I don't quite understand or I cannot process some things as easily as I have in the past. She made me feel comfortable in asking my dumb questions and made sure I understood the product measurements correctly.

We joined DirectBuy at least 15 years ago because of the fact that they had so many products available and it was such great prices. We’ve bought furniture and home supplies, like siding, windows, a bathroom suite, and couches. We even joined the DirectBuy Travel as well a few years ago. It’s something they came out with where you can go to any place that you want and get really cheap prices, like going to Mexico or someplace and staying for a week for $49 a night.
Navigating the website is fairly easy and they’ve improved that over the years too. Since everything is going online, that is one of the things that we were a little disappointed. We used to be able to drive to Lancaster and sit down with books and look at things. Sometimes, when you look at things directly, it’s a bit different than seeing it online. But as far as the website, it’s very easy. It has a search thing where you type what you’re looking for and it gives you the things you’re looking for, and you go from there. However, it would be nice to have a filter system like if you’re looking for a couch, you have the ability to select the color or size or design. It does give you some form of filters but it would be better to have some more details.
The reps are very helpful during purchase. All you really have to do is call them if you have a question about something and they are more than happy to try to find out as much as they can. And when they deliver, the people that deliver are fantastic. They’re very personable, they talk to you, and they’re not really cold-shouldered. Everybody’s always so helpful. It’s not beyond them to research something, give you a call, and to answer any questions. They’re very pleasant about it even if it’s redundant.
And the products are amazing. We got this bedroom suite and we were both shocked by the quality of it. It’s beautiful. It was solid wood and we were amazed at it. Also, we got it at a quarter of the price of what you would buy in the store. It’s very convenient to have DirectBuy and we recommend them all the time. We encourage people to join us at some point or ask about it because it’s worth it, especially someone who’s building a house or starting out who needs furniture.

It has been 12 years since I joined DirectBuy. We had a new home at that time and we needed a lot of things like furniture. We thought it would be a good opportunity to save some money with them. So far, things have been good. We were able to purchase various kinds of furniture, as well as some raw materials, like tiles for a kitchen backsplash. We also bought faucets from them. During my last purchase though, which was a very large bookcase, the arrangements I had was to pay to have them deliver it, but they will not unpack or set it up. It was left for me to do, and which I needed my neighbors to help me because I could not pick up the top piece and put it on to the bottom piece of the bookcase.
The thing is, you have to uncrate it, but they want you to sign the paperwork declaring that it was received without damage when you don’t know if it’s damaged or not until you uncrate it. And since these are large items that were packed with two by fours, as well as packing materials and cardboard, it would take some time to unpack it and they don't hang around to wait. And it turned out, the bookcase was damaged and we decided to just live with that damage because the hassle of trying to get it replaced will take your time off work. It was just too much.
While my experience was generally good, I regret that they do not have brick and mortar stores anymore because there are times when you want to see a product or you want to talk more directly with someone about a product face to face. It is when you are a little uncertain when you are looking at a catalog and getting part numbers and you needed a little bit of help.

I wanted to get the measurement for the actual seat of a chair (i.e. the width and depth). I was told on Saturday that it would be Monday to get the information as the vendor would respond on first business day. I was fine with that but 5 days later I still did not have an answer so I told them it was too late and to forget about it at that point. Seemed like a very simple request but it did not happen.

We were building houses and we thought that it would do good for us to be part of DirectBuy. We’ve been members for years and we've purchased flooring, furniture, and appliances. The cost is much lower than what you would find in the store and you can then make upgrades. We’ve had no problems and I’ve already tried to get some of my friends to become members.

Marcia was quite helpful and prompt with her replies and when product was not available she was able to price it out from local supplier who deals with DB. Pricing is great with DirectBuy beats any local big box stores. Highly recommended.

We had renovations in our home and used DirectBuy. Anytime we had any furniture to buy for the kids' rooms we used it and since it has been taken over and now has the concierge shopping I absolutely love it. It’s so much better because I can make an inquiry, find out the price and then just put the order in right away. I don't have to go through the whole library looking for pricing. Before I had to go through your DirectBuy location and sit there for hours sometimes looking for pricing and it was a real pain. It was just so time-consuming but now it’s just really easy to use and very consumer-friendly.

I purchased and received an order of outside lights that I was told were damp rated, and would hold up to the moisture in the air. They began to rust after 30 days. We had an electrician to do the install; therefore, it did not make sense to replace them with the same lighting. We would have incurred the cost with the fear of the same result. I had difficulty communicating my short and long term concerns until Terah ** contacted me. She completely understood the dilemma, and worked diligently to ensure that the resolution met with my approval. She was timely. She was diligent. And, she was intelligent in getting this resolved. When we were building our first house, my wife told me that we needed to join DirectBuy. We’ve been members since 2008. We built an acreage, renovated two houses and we’re on our third renovation now so we've been buying a lot of building materials and floorings from DirectBuy. We also use some of the local contractors that are affiliated with them such as the K&J Granites and Durabuilt Windows & Doors to get doors and windows for our houses. We got a couple of rental properties, and we bought some furniture and appliances and we’re going through them at a steady rate.
Our purchasing experience has been good for the most part. The only time we ever ran into issues was when we purchased a microwave and it was going to get shipped directly to our house. They used Ovation Home Delivery services, and they were absolutely terrible. From the time that we were notified the microwave had arrived until we got it, it was over a week and it was almost two weeks before we received it. We had to do some phoning and I got in touch with one of DirectBuy’s reps. She was amazing and she was able to finally get these guys to deliver the microwave. She got on it right away and it was rectified.
DirectBuy’s products are really good and the pricing is amazing. The savings is good as well. It’s not very often I can find stuff on sale at any other regular hardware stores that can compare with them. I would recommend it and I tell people that I know all the time to get their membership especially if they are renovating or having rental properties.

We went and listened to a presentation at the center and saw the opportunities then we signed up with DirectBuy close to 10 years ago. I'm in the middle of building my second house so iI purchased plumbing fixtures, electrical, flooring, cabinets and appliances. But the website isn't all inclusive and there are products that I can't find. Since I live a little over an hour away from the center, sometimes it's frustrating for me to be able to get in there at a convenient time to look through all the options. But it has improved over the years.
A year ago, the center tried to change their hours of opening which was going to mess with me a lot. I work during the day so trying to get there before closing was going to be a problem. But they switched back so I find it very accessible. The two ladies who are currently working in there, Megan and Pat, are very accessible and willing to help out answer questions. I enjoy working with them and the products have very good quality. I recommend DirectBuy and I would tell others about the value that I found and the savings that I have experienced.

I have no complaints with the person I was dealing with -- but the computer is sending inaccurate promo emails. Even after I was told it's not available from vendor I received a new email saying it is still available. Very frustrating.

Ordering Koehler kitchen sink - It was a pleasure working with the whole concierge team, everyone was very professional, responsible and very helpful. I did not see sinks on the website so I just asked if you could get it and I heard back, almost immediately with a full quote. I was given advice on my project as well as a granite fabricator in the general area. The team even helped modify the quote when I needed a slightly different sink. All the way through it was a pleasure working with Karisa, Linda and the whole team.

I've been a member of DirectBuy since 1982. What brought me with them was the furnishings that you can get them at a substantially lesser price than you would when going to a department store. You get an exceptional value for sure because you're cutting out the middleman. I've always bought and purchased name brand quality from them. We did the renovation in our house and have used pretty much all the products from DirectBuy. We used to have to go into a showroom and choose from catalogs, then you'd have to find a vendor in the area that would take DirectBuy. It was streamlined now and has gotten better. You can just go online and talk to the concierge. Everything is computerized so that limits the number of stores that you go into. One thing that's nice is if you have a question on some products, the people can tell you comparisons at the products so they can tell you about them before you buy them.

My aunt is a DirectBuy member for many years and a colleague of my husband told us of their experience with the company. I have been a member now for almost 2 years and I bought mostly furniture for our home. They have a very wide variety of selections but when I don't see an item online I just email the concierge then they let me know whether they have it. I usually get a response very quickly. We've been able to find some good quality products with significant savings. We were able to put a bunch of quality products in our house that we wouldn't have been able to afford. So far, I love what we've received. I'm just waiting on a new shipment of a whole truck of furniture that I just ordered. It's supposed to be in next week so I'm looking forward to that. DirectBuy is really good.

We ordered 3 lights for our bathroom and when they were unpacked it was discovered that one of them had been damaged during shipment. I contacted DirectBuy via email and Diane was assigned to assist in contacting the manufacturer and have our light replaced. She was fantastic, definitely exceeded expectations on being timely with her responses and in getting the light replaced. Thank you Diane!!

We were building a house way back in 2008 or 2009 and we got a DirectBuy membership. We purchased furniture, some electronics, building materials and quality equipment. The types of purchases depend whether they have a good price. The process is decent but their website sucks. The search function is terrible and it’s a nightmare to find things. You look for a specific name, and you won’t find it. But then you go to a different section and, all of a sudden, that article is there. When they built showrooms, at least you could look in the catalogs and see what they have and then you have someone that helps you out. But right now, everything is over email and you cannot find many things on the web.
DirectBuy’s website definitely needs improvement, and I’ve been complaining about it for years. What they have is very dynamic and they’re working with the vendors, but in today’s technology, it is possible to keep up with that. When the products come straight from the vendors, I’m happy about the quality because I look for specific ones. So far, quality is good. I’ll recommend to my friends to check out DirectBuy and see what they think about it because there are some items that could be a better price as retail.

I ordered Brookwood cabinets from DirectBuy. They sent a gentleman to our home to measure and work with the designer to provide the layout and cost. DirectBuy never explained how the process works and never gave me any information as to who they would send to do the measurements. The cabinet order was placed and the contractor came to install. He completed about 50% of the job, then never came back.
I tried contacting him several times, contacted the designer and he could not locate him either. The contractor had given us an invoice for the installation of about $5000.00 dollars when he started the install of which I paid half. I was never informed the install was not included in the cost I had already paid to DirectBuy. Needless to say, I had to use my own contractor to finish installing my cabinets because DirectBuy left me with no other option. I have been dissatisfied with the whole DirectBuy shopping experience since they have closed their showrooms. I feel I have no real help when I need it. Therefore I am due to renew my membership and that will not happen!!!

I’ve been a member of DirectBuy for the past 14 years. I got the membership since I was moving from a condo to a house so I had a lot of purchases to do. Also, because of their price difference and the opportunity to have a variety of brand names. I bought quite a bit from them from furniture, electronics to bathroom fixtures. Initially, purchasing was a bit complicated. We had the actual store in Halifax but now, with the concierge purchasing, it has been quite seamless and easy and I enjoyed it a bit. The products are always fairly good because I get the opportunity to access client product that sometimes is not even available in Halifax. In picking furniture, I end up going to a store when I travel that sells the furniture I like. Then, I purchase it from DirectBuy. My experience with them has been straightforward. DirectBuy is definitely worth it and a great deal if my friends can tolerate purchasing stuff without seeing the actual product.

I needed to remodel a kitchen so I purchased a membership from DirectBuy and I’ve been a member for years. I used them several times already and the purchasing process was pretty good. They shipped it quick. The products were of good quality. Plus, they have helpful customer service. I ordered something that should be in so I called them last Saturday and I got a response back Tuesday. The product is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I've told all my friends about DirectBuy.

I got Audrey when calling for help! She was wonderful, very knowledgeable and compassionate. I was a member with my daughter over 3 years ago. I am also an interior designer. Have down quite a bit of business with DB. Just renewed my membership last Oct. About to begin a few projects, and couldn't get online so called for help!! Audrey was just great! I have tried to get a portable generator, a mattress, and a living room coffee table and end table set with no luck with DirectBuy. I tried purchasing Armstrong Flooring too that should have been sold to me as cheap as it was last summer when they had it on sale! No deal there either! No matter what I tried buying this past year I've been shot down! I regret once again by paying such a high cost for a wholesale club when it is constantly telling me I can't buy what I want! It's bad enough that I can't touch, smell, feel, or see anything in person too before I buy it! Not even a year went by when I first bought this membership did they decide to do away with member showrooms! That truly and without a doubt put a bad taste in my mouth about it. There's too many other issues too that I don't like about this ordeal to mention here! I am disgusted!

We were doing major home renovations and the discounts we could get from DirectBuy offset the cost of joining and we’ve been members for about eight years now. In the last few months, we replaced some small appliances through DirectBuy. The purchasing experience, the quality, and cost of the products are good. Sometimes though, the handling fees are somewhat high. Nonetheless, if you are planning on spending substantial sums of money, the membership is worth it.

We have been a DirectBuy member for about seven years now. We’re building a new home in another couple of years and it’ll be just a lot easier to do it through them. We've bought some furniture from them. And we’re going to be buying a whole set of kitchen cupboards shortly. The quality is good so far. But all of the inside seams of one leather couch we bought wore out. It started tearing for some reason inside the couch. We called where we bought it but they said there’s nothing they can do about it. Other than that, I’m happy with the stuff we have so far.
The purchasing experience is okay. It’s just that the locations of some of their stores make it hard to pick up the product. I’m from Sudbury and we were dealing with Barrie originally. Now, we don’t have Barrie anymore. They just have the warehouse. So we have to go all the way to Ottawa to do our shopping and it's a six-hour drive to get there. It’s too much distance.
We should have the kitchen cupboards coming in probably within the next couple of weeks. Items like that get delivered to your house which isn’t so bad. But a lot of the furniture that we’d like to buy, we have to go down and pick up. By the time you figure out the cost of driving down there with a rental vehicle, renting a truck, driving down and coming back, your cost savings are diminished. If we can get more stuff direct delivered, it would be a lot nicer. I would recommend DirectBuy to others who are building something big otherwise, I would not.

We've been a DirectBuy member for a very long time and we had just bought a house when we got it. They had a partnership with a kitchen person and we did a kitchen with them. We also bought a lot of house renovation supplies. We bought appliances twice through them as well. That was 10 years ago. We had five years then we had to pay a renewal fee. We used it a lot at first and we renewed it, but afterwards we just weren't using it enough to make that worthwhile. We just recently moved again and we're doing some things. We were actually considering building a new place for a while so the membership made sense again. I have a little wishlist going with DirectBuy but I have not purchased anything yet. I do not live close to a design center either so that has its challenges.
I also had an issue in the fall where I had purchased a gift membership for my sister but when it was mailed to me, I got a box that was empty which was random. They sent me another box and I was very confused to see there was only a generic card in it. Although the person was great the first time, he should have sent me something digitally rather than have me wait for another mail. The whole thing ended up taking a month when they could have just emailed me the information that was on that card. It could have been instant gratification. When I explained that to them, they were good the second time. They gave me credit and compensation. I also suggested that they consider a digital download gift certificate 'cause that would benefit both ends. They could buy right away and they would get business right away.
Also, when we first got the membership, the exchange rate was very good so things were at a very good deal if I got them from the States. For Canadians, it is not really such a good deal anymore. I get a price on something and it is like a bargain of the century but when I run the extras like the handling and the duty, most American things are not really worth the inconvenience. If you are buying from Canadian suppliers that is fine though. I would be a little bit realistic about it but I would recommend DirectBuy to a friend. Besides, when I signed up again, they did guarantee that I would get my membership fee back if I did not save enough and I'm really happy with what they offer. Sometimes there isn’t exactly what I want, but there are a lot of good things that are there.

I want to commend Kyle of Direct Buy who was so helpful to us in answering questions regarding possibilities for our renewal. Our home suffered major flood damage and we have been through a lot this past many months getting it rebuilt. Some furniture remained but much was lost. We will be redecorating and filling in the gaps in our home. We commend Kyle for his great service. Kudos to Kyle.

I have been using DirectBuy for 20 years. I heard about it from a friend and it was called United Consumers Club back then. Over the years, I've bought furniture from them and a few other things. Appliances, indoor and outdoor furniture, as well as some bedding and towels. The buying experience is getting better and better. Back then, we had to go and look at the manufacturers in their locations and we had to figure out the prices and shipping. Now, it involves finding it through a website. The website was really bad and hard to use but it's just gotten better and better even though the Houston one disappeared for a few years. Because the online service is so good, if there are any problems, you can call and email them immediately and you’ll get a response. They opened a Houston location which is really close to me but I don't know how I can go there because mostly, I do emails online. It's just a great company.
Their products have been great. But there are certain things I probably should have gone to a store. For example, the sofa. I should have looked for a store that had their brand first before I ordered from the picture. Also, it's the price tag that people hesitate about. They don’t want to be spending thousands of dollars for anything upfront. Other than that, if it's someone that could use them because they love high-end things, like to have nice things, or probably need all these household furniture, I'm always recommending DirectBuy.
