    I got a DirectBuy membership realizing that it could save me a fair amount of money on the price I would be able to buy through them. I've used the membership for about eight years, purchasing appliances, furniture and lighting, and my experience has been very good. The challenge is that you’re buying from a catalog, so you have to do some research to figure out what you’re getting in some cases. If you want a chair or sheets and linens, you can’t feel it. You have to know what a 800-thread-count would feel like. All the same, the products are of excellent quality and I haven’t found anything of low quality. DirectBuy seems to be discerning about what they carry. I’m also happy with the products' cost. I’ve had plenty of people ask me about DirectBuy and I tell them that they have great prices.

    A friend of ours had glowing reports about DirectBuy and told us that we should probably join. With DirectBuy, we get very good quality things and it's less expensive, which is great. There's also a lot of options. However, we don't live in an area that has a place on site and we have to travel five hours to go to a place to speak with somebody. Nonetheless, they're usually on point when they talk about delivery. They know that the delivery is gonna be a certain amount of time and it usually is. Also, their online website is better now and easy to navigate.

    We were part of another membership buying service and something happened with that. We were looking to find a similar type of quality for that lower wholesale price and somebody told us about DirectBuy. We went through a showing and we signed up. We’ve been members for over eight years now and we have bought furniture, appliances and cabinets. The website is okay but it didn’t quite take care of everything for most of the things that I’ve had to buy. It let me see some things, but it didn’t take care of the things that I wanted. I always had to speak to someone, but it was fine. The products have great quality and the cost is excellent. I would tell a friend that they should join DirectBuy and I’ve told lots of them that.

    We've had a great experience with DirectBuy. Years ago, we went over to one of those presentations and I was really skeptical. There were all these wonderful things but you had to pay all those money upfront. We were going to buy my wife a new car and somewhere in the discussion, it popped up that we could buy this car through DirectBuy. We were going to have to pay a membership but we were gonna end up saving a bunch of money on buying the car. That’s what prompted us to sign up with them.

    We got the car in 2004 and since then, we've bought a lot of stuff. If I look in our kitchen, we bought all those appliances from DirectBuy. We had all the bathroom supplies, the shower, taps, etc. from them too. 2 chairs in the family room and the fireplace upstairs also came from DirectBuy. 10 years ago, we bought one of those jungle gym sets that goes in the backyard from them. The set was just taken down because our grandsons are now 10 and 12. They gave it to some other friends of theirs.

    Some of the prices have been very, very reasonable. The other ones like the electronics, it's not as much thriftier, but some of them are better deals than others. The quality of the products is good. They're brand names. We do reviews and go look at it. If we find what we want, we usually try and find it somewhere and have a look at it before we buy it from DirectBuy. The only thing is if you get it, you can't really give it back. That’s a bit of an issue. But we tell people about DirectBuy and that it works for us. We also tell them that unless they're in the market to buy a whole lot of stuff, it may be tricky to get their money back. It's 200 or 300 bucks a year but some years, we don’t buy enough to really pay for our membership and I heard the new fee is quite substantial. So far, we've maintained the membership, but eventually we should stop buying stuff. We're old and we don’t use more stuff.

    Since 2005, we’ve purchased a number of things from DirectBuy, and they’ve always been what we wanted. Things have sometimes come in before we expected they would too. So, overall, our experience has been good. I’m not crazy about our calls getting shuffled through the States though. Sometimes I’m assuming I’m talking to someone here in Ottawa, and I’m actually talking to someone in the States. I would be happier speaking with someone who was in Ottawa. Even though that’s not always possible, it would be helpful if they could make it clear that we’re talking to someone who’s in the States. Still, the customer service is very good and the things we’ve purchased have been good quality. We’re pleased with them.

    We were building a house and we knew that a DirectBuy membership would come in handy. Their website can be a little tricky but the more you use it, the better you get at it. Also, the quality of the products we've purchased from them has been excellent and the cost has been comparable to others. Plus, they carry a lot of the higher end stuff, which is nice. Before, we had a location just three miles from us but when they downsized or went through a bankruptcy period, now we have to go to Toronto. That’s a bit difficult, but I understand why. Other than that, it's still a pretty good service.

    When I search for a particular product, a dining table for instance, other non-related products appear as well and it’s a waste of my time to scroll through pages of products I’m not even interested in! Their website needs an extreme overhaul so that searches can be narrowed down to specific products. When putting in an inquiry on a product, the response back is very general and does not specifically address the product so I don’t know which one they’re talking about. Also, they, as well as the local warehouse (where the products are held until delivered) don’t notify you soon enough when your products have arrived and most of the time I have to call them! I will not be renewing my membership once it’s up for renewal. It has not been a positive experience to say the least!

    Apparently our order was ready, and the first notice we have states that we will have to start paying storage fees. Why do I have to pay storage fees when I am never told that my order is ready for pickup? Over the past 18 years the service at DirectBuy has been going down hill to the point that one has to question why they maintain a membership.

    I first investigated DirectBuy because we were going to be moving into a new home in Tennessee. I was gonna need appliances and things like that. I've been with DirectBuy for eight years and I've purchased lots of appliances, lots of rugs, fixtures, a little bit of furniture and lamps. It has been easy to purchase. They used to have the showroom which I dearly loved. I'm not as keen on just using the internet and that has always been very helpful. But they have a lot of high-end, quality things, and some of them are a little too expensive for what I can afford. So, it would be nice if there was some more moderately priced items.

    They also had cut down on the amount building materials. They used to have more dealers for if you wanted to put in an addition onto your house or things like doors, windows, decking materials and things like that. I wish that they have more of that. They're more now into just the consumer goods. I wanna replace the windows in our second home in Florida, and I would have gladly used DirectBuy for that, but they don't have a dealer. Nevertheless, if you're in a market for some big buys, meaning that you're moving into a new house, you're remodeling, you're doing big projects, it's well worth the membership.

    We were thinking of building a big addition to our house, which was the main reason we decided to join DirectBuy in 2009. At that time, we paid 5,000 to join. That was a lot of money that we didn't really have but we thought we could save way more. All their products are high-end. We've bought a dishwasher and chlorine. We also bought a stove. We've only had it for five months and the oven had gone all haywire. We aren't very happy that we had to call it in already, but we couldn't be happier with the experience. One of our sons also did quite a bit of purchasing, but he is in a different city, he bought a fridge, bedroom furniture, and living room furniture. They also bought two wall ovens within the last few months. He's now a member himself though. DirectBuy did that thing last December, where family can join at a reduced rate. We've been recommending them to others.

    We drove by the local DirectBuy franchise and decided to check it out. The potential savings on all types of product made us join. We've been members for 8 years and have done some home remodeling as well as purchased some furniture. The products are of top quality. At first, we could do a lot online. But now, the concierge service is very helpful. They could do a lot of the legwork for you, check out the pricing, and then help get your orders in.

    DirectBuy has been a great value to us. Now that we’re beyond our original membership fee, we’re paying on an annual basis and we get quite a bit of savings compared to what we pay. Right now, we’re securing a lot of materials and appliances for a new home we’re building. We’re looking forward to getting some substantial savings on all aspects of our new house. But I’d say tell others to really look at whether or not they would use it that much before making a decision. They’d have to really look at what they’ve got planned in the next several years and decide whether or not joining makes any sense.

    Being members of DirectBuy, we are able to have large savings on our purchases of all kinds of products. Over the years, our purchases include appliances, furniture, blinds, a TV and some faucets. We've always purchased good quality as we'd rather spend a little more and get a better quality product rather than skimp and save.     We've been DirectBuy members since 1999 when we came across them at the Toronto Home Show. We were building a house and I could see that the savings just from what we were buying for the house would more than cover the membership, which sold us on it. The purchasing experience has gotten a lot better. We used to have to drive to the showroom in Mississauga, then drive to order, and then drive back to pick up. Now we can do most things online and that they, in most cases, have the option of home delivery. However, until recently, when you wanna get specific information on an item on their website and click on it, somehow the link would take you to a different product. I think they've corrected that in their recent revamp, but I was surprised how long that problem existed.

    We've had a built-in Weber barbecue, which would have cost me $3,000 retail. I was able to get it for $2,000. We've also bought televisions, toilets, and a number of other things at significant savings. The products, which are brand names, have always had excellent quality. One of the few items we've ever had an issue with was a refrigerator that came dented. However, we were able to send it back and they replaced it with another one. I would recommend DirectBuy for the significant cost benefit to membership. Plus, if there is a product from a specific manufacturer that I couldn't find, they would contact the manufacturer to get me the information on the price of what I am looking for.

    We've been DirectBuy members since 2004. We had a lot of things we were doing then, which made us decide to join. Our purchasing experience has been very good. In the previous house we had, we did a whole kitchen, which turned out amazing. We also bought vanities, which were beautiful. We also bought a lot of lighting and a lot of tiles. We are perfectly happy with the items that we've bought. We liked the showrooms, but they closed the showrooms down. There are major sales online and you can find things. Joining to buy a light fixture wouldn't be worth it, but when you're doing a lot of renovations and remodeling, then joining is definitely a good choice and worth it.

    We’ve been DirectBuy members for about six years. When we first visited the Brighton store, it was really close to our house because it was only 30 minutes away. We liked the convenience of it being so close, that I could go look at things at the store. We did a kitchen with them and that was good. We got appliances, cabinets and a washer and dryer the quality of the items was good. Also, a lot of times, the cost was good because it was comparable for when things are on sale at other places. When I needed it, they had it at that price point and I didn’t have to wait for a sale at Lowe’s, Home Depot or Sears.

    Later though, they closed down most of the showrooms. Our nearest one is about two hours away in Troy and it’s not convenient for us now. Also, their website is not as user-friendly and now that they don’t have the showroom, it’s not as nice because I don’t get to see the product. I’m more of a visual person and I like to see things before I buy them. If you have a big project to do, it’s a great thing. But, if you just want to save a little on just an appliance, then DirectBuy is not the best deal.

    I was investigating some products and when speaking to a couple of friends, they advised that it would be cheaper if I bought through DirectBuy. When I did the math, it made sense. We bought some appliances through DirectBuy. I have attempted to buy other products but the ability to search on their website was terrible. If I am looking for a simple TV stand, I will go online and I’d turn those search criteria and I get thousands of products -- I don’t have the time nor the desire to go through thousands of products. I wanna narrow it down as most other websites do. For example, my wife has a membership through Wayfair and it’s a far better user-experience to search and narrow items down than using the DirectBuy service. This deters me.

    I’ve got lots of other products to buy but I can’t find them online. DirectBuy needs to improve the ability to search and narrow items down. They may have millions of products but if I cannot find them, then I’m not gonna buy. Another example, I was searching for bathroom vanities and I would get everything from mattresses to TV stands to desks. I would get everything. Their search function just does not work.

    My husband knew about DirectBuy beforehand and he had heard about all of the great value. We've been members for five years now, and one of the things I don't like about the website is that it doesn't necessarily take you back to where you were, and you start at the beginning of the page. Also, the app isn't user-friendly so I don't use it. Nevertheless, when shopping on there, I like that you can get the price and see what the product is, and have a rough idea of what's out there from what you have.

    We've got a lot of little projects that are about to start up. We're starting a bathroom project, and we got a loveseat for the den. I'm also going to paint our living room and change all of the furniture there. I've already tentatively picked out what I've got from DirectBuy. My induction stove is the absolute best quality and I love it. However, the loveseat that I just bought had a mark that says "power" and it came with no power, so I contacted customer service. They were able to help me figure that out, and I am very happy with what the end result was.

    Our first purchase through DirectBuy was an electric reading chair from a Canadian manufacturer. The quality of the product is very good and I was very satisfied with it. We purchased an item from Sears and DirectBuy Canada got our information from Sears and contacted us by email. They made an arrangement that they would agree to honor the expired warranty as long as we are members of DirectBuy, so we chose to follow that. We've been a member for one year now and purchased several things. We purchased a green chair and new doors.

    We also purchased kitchen stuff through the arrangement with Kitchen Craft. What really pushed us over the edge was the help we received in arranging for our kitchen. These were the second and third orders we made and we got very good help. We did this space and placed these items, and we had contact with someone that was helping with claims with Kitchen Craft orders. We got very good advice and we’re very satisfied. The person who was helping us changed and we ended up with a different person the first two times, but we were very satisfied both times. Our purchasing experience with DirectBuy was very easy and very good. We really liked the professional that was in the store to help us order and we were very satisfied with the parts. So far, the quality and the cost of the items that we received are very good. The experience was positive overall and we chose to renew our membership with DirectBuy.

    I agree 100% with Lori from MN. We have been members since 1010 and did love it. We built two houses and saved a bundle. However, we have not been using DB for much lately. Quite frankly, if you look, you will find prices cheaper elsewhere. I have had the exact same experience with Moen. And what led me to write this review is an American Standard whirlpool tub. We never used to have to worry about price shopping. If you could get from DB, that was it. But we ORDERED this tub from Home Depot for $18 less than what DB could sell it for.

    A few months back, we purchased a washing machine from Best Buy for $230 less than DB’s price. I complained to DB and they told me that I should have contacted them and used my "guaranteed Low Price" benefit. Basically, informing me that our DB price now has to be negotiated. So for this tub, I found the online price. I informed DB that I found the tub cheaper and sent them a screenshot of the item. At this time, Home Depot's price was about $100 less than DB. 3 days after my inquiry I received an email that they received my request, and would see what they could do. 2 days after that, they offered me an $80 price reduction, for a total just above Home Depot.

    I informed them that I would be buying from Home Depot. They sent an apology email and sent a copy and paste response that DB members are all familiar with about how big box stores will frequently sell items at or below cost to remove inventory or sell outdated models. The tub I bought was at an everyday price and only available by special order. DB has lost its value in today’s age where major department stores apparently sell merchandise below cost. Believe it or not, it sickens me to come to the reality that we are leaving DB because they were once very well appreciated. But next February will mark the end of our membership. It’s unfortunate that my wife and I can’t even justify a $200 annual investment with this company anymore.

    I bought my DirectBuy membership in Waterloo. After some time, they closed that location down and they transferred me to Hamilton. That location closed down as well after some time and so they transferred me to Mississauga. Now, they've closed down that location as well. It has made it challenging for me in the sense that I have to go in and look through the books and have a one-on-one conversation with the designers or people who can walk me through the products. I can look online but I am a people person and I prefer to deal with people face-to-face. I have bought paint, hardwood, carpet and some furniture from DirectBuy. I've had some issues, but those got ironed out. Their staff has done an excellent job.

    I have been a member of DirectBuy since 2012. I was remodeling a house back then. I needed appliances and so becoming a member at DirectBuy was the logical thing to do. I have done kitchen and bathroom projects using my membership. All the items I have gotten were major name brands and the quality of the products has been good. I've had a good experience with DirectBuy but the only ways that the interaction with them could have improved were in regards to the showroom that we used to have in town. It’s actually better to deal with the web customer service than it was dealing with the showroom. But I will continue to renew my DirectBuy membership and continue to buy stuff from them. It is expensive upfront but if you're going to actually use it, it's totally worth it. It's a straightforward process. They’re not for everybody, but in my situation, it’s ideal.

    We have been members for over 10 years. We loved the DirectBuy concept when we joined. We tend to buy homes, fix them up, live in them a few years and move. We have ordered everything from silverware to siding. We have always gotten great quality for our money and an easy order/delivery process. Now there is little help in shopping. Basically tell us what you need and we will order. Thankfully we live near a distribution center so we can pick items up and not pay the inflated prices for delivery with a company that is horrible to deal with. Now you are required to price shop. Example: We have bought plumbing fixtures for 5 homes. We have always been sold the highest quality products, which is what Direct Buy promises. No big box, cheap faucets.

    I recently ordered 3 bath faucets. When the plumber was installing them he told me to make sure the shower fixtures were not the cheap quality of the faucets! I paid $170 per faucet! He showed me the plastic parts which is the quality of big box stores for much less $$. I called Dbuy and they said I should not have been sold lesser quality. They would research and get back to me. Moen's response was that the consumer needs to read the description of what they are buying to make sure it is what they want. Now I need to be educated in materials used. I then Googles the item number to look at the description and it is an exclusive item to Lowe's and sells for $119!! Dbuy's response to this was that Moen made an exception and sold them to me. As for the price markup, I was told that I am now responsible for price shopping before I go to Dbuy to order items. Are you kidding me!!??? Won't be renewing my membership!!

    I had to buy so much stuff for the house so I signed up with DirectBuy less than a year ago. I like having the credit so that the whole fee wasn't written off, their merchandise credit and their pricing. They had a 30-day money back if we decided against it. I've done home renovations so I've purchased all the fixtures, faucets and sinks through DirectBuy. The quality of the products were of very good value. They were exactly what you'd get in the store. So, I'm very happy.

    Their website could be a bit better for searching things though. There's so much on there and the search is not sensitive enough. If you put white things you still end up getting all the different colors. If they had more filters that would restrict the search, it would be helpful. You could search for a lamp by color and not just the branding. But if you have a style number, the site is very easy to use. I would definitely recommend DirectBuy.

    I have been a DirectBuy member for almost 10 years. It's one place to go to shop for everything, and the staff is very good and very accommodative. So, it's a good experience. I have one condo that I did everything I could with it and bought everything from DirectBuy, including the furniture, the flooring, the appliances, and the kitchen cabinets. Right now, I'm doing another condo in Tampa, and I'm doing everything. I like that DirectBuy now has a concierge service, like you can pay a little extra and then you can get a specific person to work with you. It's incredible.     My husband and I retired in Florida and one of the gentlemen that used to work for us heard that we moved to Florida when he was working for DirectBuy up in Jacksonville and asked if he could come here and help out. The customer service that I’ve received from DirectBuy has been excellent. They have a lot of patience and I’m always satisfied with my prices. They tell me they would submit the purchase order and I would get it within a couple of days. Also, sometimes I’m looking for just a price range on something that it’s gonna be in my budget and I know I can get online and look it up.

    One time, we ordered two Hooker and a bachelor chest. We were so excited, we didn’t take the time to order the dresser, which we should have done. Then, when I went back many months later to order the dresser to match it, it was discontinued.     I have been a DirectBuy member for over 10 years. We joined them when we built our house and we've been using them since to furnish. I stayed with DirectBuy because they have a good selection of vendors to choose from and also for the savings. I bought two fireplaces from Vermont Castings that normally are $6,000 a piece, and I saved half of that. For my investment of $3,000 to join DirectBuy, the return on investment was immediate.

    Also, I find buying from them to be quite easy. When I first joined, you'd have to drive over to the showroom. But since they have gone more online, it's been easier for me to look at products and to talk to the concierge. It helps to have the concierge able to help you since some of the stuff is complicated to order. I tend to be detail-oriented, and I like to look at my own products. I found that most of the time when I was going into retailers, I was telling the reps that were trying to sell me on products about features that they didn't know anything about. So for me, it's perfect. In addition to that, if they don't know something, they’ll usually find someone who does.

    So far, I've been pleased with DirectBuy. Everyone has been super helpful. Anyone I've dealt with has been great. One thing though that I don't understand however is that sometimes, there are manufacturers that are on there over the years, and then sometimes, they come up. I'd like to know how DirectBuy decides when a manufacturer is added or when one is taken off. Also, there are less modern furniture offerings than there are traditional ones. So, when I think of how people are decorating these days, which is less traditional and more modern, there's an opportunity for DirectBuy to offer more variety in that regard.

    We've been DirectBuy members for a few years - from when we were doing renovations with our house and needing to buy new furniture. It was a perfect thing for us to get involved with and be able to buy directly from manufacturers. Aside from the great quality of products, it has definitely been an advantage for me to be able to buy the furniture, for instance, without having to go to a furniture store and pay retail prices. Everything pretty much has been done online.

    In the old days, we used to go their showroom and through catalogs. It's very disappointing that they don't have a warehouse near me anymore. Not every manufacturer delivers to the customer’s home so my days with DirectBuy are gonna be over if I can't get to some place to pick the stuff up anymore. I used to do so at their warehouse in Mississauga, which is about half an hour from our house. Still, I’ve had a great experience over the years.

    There were a few instances where I had to return things and the people were absolutely fabulous. One of which was when I bought furniture for my daughter's new house and it was damaged. The customer service worked with it and did an amazing job. They got it corrected and I was extremely happy.     I purchased a set of KitchenAid appliances through DirectBuy (WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN) in July, 2018. Let me skip to the end here, I still don't have a refrigerator and the next potential delivery date is 3/18/2019, 8 months and counting. Their local delivery company JB Hunt received my appliances in their warehouse in October 2018 as planned and then scheduled delivery. On the scheduled delivery day they called me and asked why they had a delivery scheduled because they had an empty truck. Seriously? Turns out for reasons no one will tell me, they returned my appliances to Whirlpool and Whirlpool sold them to another customer (along with trying to get away with charging ME a $400 restocking fee). JB Hunt insisted they could get the appliances back on a rush order.

    After months of getting nowhere with DirectBuy and completely stuck with my kitchen remodel (no countertops, no running water, no appliances and can't finish without them) I finally got them to deliver the stove, microwave, and dishwasher so I could at least complete part of my kitchen remodel. They won't give me any information about my refrigerator other than to send an email once a month on the scheduled delivery date moving that date out another month. The latest date was 2/14/18 and on 2/11 I received yet another email saying the Vendor (Whirlpool) has set the next scheduled delivery date as 3/18/19, now 8 months after I paid for my refrigerator. You might ask why don't I just cancel the order at this point and buy somewhere else. I'd love to but starting over at a local hardware store just puts me back in the queue and earliest scheduled delivery dates are past 3/18 so I'm concerned the same thing will happen all over again.

    Additionally, I only bought Kitchen Aid through DirectBuy because of their discounts (paid $2980 for what retails as a $4000 fridge - I would NEVER have bought KitchenAid retail and now can't afford it, would love for my fridge to match everything else in my kitchen). But what good is a discount on something you can't ever get? Apparently, Whirlpool's business model is to sell you items that haven't yet been manufactured and then put you in a never-ending queue for what is coming up on a year, a year, with absolutely NO explanation or assistance. All 3 of these vendors are to blame here and not a single one of them has owned up to it or given a sufficient explanation. I can't even contact Whirlpool directly because I purchased through DirectBuy and they won't give me the location of the specific vendor they're working with.

    I've filed a BBB complaint against DirectBuy but can't do so with Whirlpool because DirectBuy won't give me the location. My old refrigerator is in my garage and I am not physically capable of moving it back in my house temporarily (nor do I want to because I have brand new hardwood floors that have yet to have the final finish coat on because they are waiting for the fridge to be moved in (so JB Hunt doesn't scratch my floors).

    DirectBuy refuses to even offer financial assistance to move my old fridge back into the house (I already paid to have it moved out - living in Colorado I've had nothing but frozen food for the past 4 months). I just want a refrigerator but am now concerned it won't work even if I ever get it based on Kitchen Aid reviews on this site. Stay away from Kitchen Aid, Whirlpool, DirectBuy and JB Hunt. Although I don't think they have appliances, Wayfair is the way to go, they have THE BEST customer service, something DirectBuy and Whirlpool apparently haven't heard of.

We also purchased a ceiling fan, bedroom shed and tiles. And now, I just purchased my major appliances again for my new home in Orlando. The products are good. However, since they closed their warehouse here in Florida, it’s a little pain in the butt to get on the website and look for what I'm looking for. And now, I have to call and speak to someone there and they try to help. And you have to have your items ready before you make your phone call.     We first joined in 2001 and we went with a full membership. We have done three kitchens, bedroom furniture, appliances, lighting and bathroom fixtures, among others. We redid three houses. We were very fortunate when we were in Toronto because we weren’t that far from their showroom, so we went in there and the staff was wonderful. Although it was hard to get used to just looking in a catalog and not seeing something, after a while, you would find what you want on the outside and go in, so it became quite easy. We bought a house in Florida, so we use DirectBuy US as well as DirectBuy Canada. We went to their showroom in Florida, and then their showroom closed. The concierge thing was a bit tougher, but it worked out. We used it to design a kitchen and have someone install the kitchen cabinets.

    I miss the showroom, however, and having someone that you can work with, especially in the kitchen stuff. Not being able to have someone that you could actually talk to that has kitchen experience, when you’re trying to do a kitchen, is a bit difficult. We had some pantry cabinets installed two days ago and the installer said it’s hard for people who can’t go in and touch the cabinets and see the colors. It’s a process. You have to order cabinet doors and then they come, and there’s a lot more waiting. We talked to somebody, measured, did all the stuff, and the guy said we needed sealers for our cabinets. But the way he did the sealers in our order, we were short an inch and a half of sealer. Fortunately, our installer was ingenious and was able to work it out. He was such a good installer and he was recommended by DirectBuy.

    Overall, the quality of the products are great and so is the cost. But there are some products, like outside furniture that when I researched, it doesn’t really seem like you’re getting much of a deal. However, when you talk about kitchen cabinets or lighting or fixtures or even handles for your kitchen cabinets, DirectBuy can be very good, and more so if you’re a good shopper. If you are willing to work at your shopping a bit because you have to do the footwork yourself for the most part, then it will be a really good experience with the concierge. You just have to really use the system. It’s like using Disney points where you have to really work it and beyond. For me, DirectBuy has worked out fine and we’ve done very well with them.

    We’re referred to DirectBuy by a friend. When we first got our membership, we were gonna be redoing our kitchen. And we were looking to save money on the cost of that. We’ve gotten whole kitchen cabinets, handles, granite for the kitchen, flooring that we’ve put throughout the house, and furniture. We also got some knickknacks here and there, like pots and pans. Purchasing sometimes is a little time-consuming, not as easy as just going to the store or going online through a regular online retailer. For someone who’s not internet-savvy and able to look for things and have some patience with it, they might not really enjoy the experience.

    When the showroom was available here in Long Island, it was a little bit easier to find items that you couldn't find online or through their catalogs because you had the representatives there. But other than that, you just have to be a little bit proficient in using their website in knowing exactly what you’re looking for. Maybe DirectBuy could streamline it a little bit and make the search engine a little bit more user-friendly. But for the most part, the savings take away the negative part about how long it takes to place orders and actually find stuff. They've also all been very helpful from when we had the live showroom to a couple of instances that I had to order things now online. They have excellent products too.

    I was living in San Antonio and a friend of ours belonged to DirectBuy. Then in 2000, I joined in Richardson since I could get top-grade carpet and save the fee for the membership cost. It was one year there and then, they moved to Coppell. My wife was a little distraught when we started looking over in Coppell though. If you are going to be doing a big project and you know that you’re going to be purchasing several items, then DirectBuy is definitely worth it. The experience when using DirectBuy is good for the most part. It does have a good amount of information about the product. But since they did the upgrade and redesigned the website about a month back, their search field has been broken.

    The bathtub that I purchased is from a company called Neptune and the name of the bathtub is Zen Bathtub. But none of those keywords will find it. It is horrid. I had a situation with my plumber where I had to go and double-check what the specifications of the bathtub were. And it was such a pain to try and find it. Putting in “Zen” in the search criteria would not find it. But in putting in “Neptune”, we found all the Neptune products and they have hundreds upon hundreds of products. It was really difficult. If DirectBuy can talk to their developers and tell them to improve the search, that would be amazing. But on the other hand, the overall quality of the products is good.

    We’ve been members of DirectBuy for years. We saw it advertised. We were buying furniture, doing some renovations, and thought it would be a good thing to do. We took out half a house and redid it. Previously, I didn’t like purchasing from DirectBuy online and it was fine if I came to the store. But the online has gotten a lot better, so that experience is much easier to deal with since we now live downtown and didn’t have to go up there. The web online experience is very important to us, to be able to order something.

    We just ordered a sofa. We got swatches delivered to us and now it’s ordered and on the way. We did all that without stepping foot in the store, which for me is a big benefit. However, maybe links to the supplier’s direct website would be useful, where we can see it in Toronto or in the city where we are residing, where we could go and see the product. But the quality of the items we received is very good. They’re higher-priced items, to begin with, but we get a great deal on them that it’s economical. I also had a great experience with one of their customer support people, Linda. Their reps were wonderful. They did a really great job with keeping me updated and answering all the questions in a timely manner.

    I’ve been a member since 2004. Found out today that my local branch was closed. Called their corporate number and discovered that they had closed all their “brick and mortar” stores and only offer on-line and phone service now. That sucks! Not only did I lose that face to face connection, but I also lost most of my previous “local” DirectBuy vendors (tile supplier, doors, staircase, railing). Their response was basically that I was out of luck. On-line and phone sales are a dime a dozen. I do not like nor appreciate their new business model. Whoever made this decision for DirectBuy made a huge mistake!

    I joined DirectBuy a long time ago, like more than 15 years. I did the showroom and it’s great. I liked the price and I liked what they did, so I joined them. I purchased mostly furnitures, electronics, appliances and household items. Their price is good. But they closed our local showroom. If they can have a showroom, it would be much better. Doing it online is inconvenient and I suggest for them to scan the other paper catalogs into their site. A lot of times, we cannot find the items and because the manufacturers, sometimes don’t have their catalog published in their own website as well, so it’s difficult for us to find a particular item.     Being with DirectBuy saved me money. When I used to have to go through binders full of catalogs, that was too time-consuming. I also liked the people who were in the showroom. They were nice and helpful. Because I don't have a showroom, now I have a concierge service, which I found very helpful, and I just did two bathrooms. However, the website is still a little confusing. I couldn't find some things. My brother and sister-in-law were also not sure that they could find things. They felt confused. I told them to call and talk to somebody on the concierge desk. They did and that helped them. I know that the company keeps a record of all the purchases made. Once a while, you lose track of the receipt. It would be cool that when I go to Amazon and buy something from them, I could see my order history.

    I ordered an aquarium and it's not even been a month, it's already making a sound but it shouldn't. So I just went back and there it was, I could contact the seller easily. That's really helpful because then I've got that purchase record. And so, if I have a warranty problem, I know that's not something that DirectBuy handle, but it's something that I would have to handle.     We went to a home and garden trade show about 22 years ago and DirectBuy was called UCC Total Home at the time. We were just engaged to be married then. We were starting our home and starting to nest. We bought the membership with the store. At that age, we were buying pretty much anything people put in front of us like timeshares. It may have been a bit of a no thought through, but we’ve enjoyed the membership so I don’t regret that.

    I’m still happy with DirectBuy. We’ve been members for 20-some years and we’ll continue to maintain that membership. We’ve learned the process so we’re pretty good when it comes to purchasing. My wife would like to see more stuff online for it to be easier as an online experience because the franchise partner’s hours can be more suited to stay-at-home people versus office workers. You have to get on to the downtown core, into the site, and maybe you only have an hour to go to find what’s there or make decisions in their showroom. That’s the difficult part but it’s pretty straightforward.

    When it comes to quality of purchases, it depends on what you buy and who you buy them from. I bought two kitchens through DirectBuy and they were great. The furniture that they have have different standards so you need to read the descriptions and know what you’re getting before you make a decision. But overall, if you’re paying attention and you’re focused on quality, then you can get that.

    I was working in New York as a security guard and I saw one of the tenants in the building having the book but I couldn’t afford the membership then. I got married in 2005 and when I met my wife, I told her we need to join DirectBuy because we would get stuff really good and reasonably. We moved to Georgia and about a week after, we went straight to DirectBuy and signed up. Considering the price differences with what you could get, I made my money back on the first of the stuff that I bought. If a friend were to ask me, I would tell them they need to sign up real quickly. Over the years, my wife have had almost 40 people sign up for DirectBuy.

    We were building a house and buying all the furniture. Then we were buying the appliances. We were also buying different things like sneakers, car tires and an exercise machine – the whole nine yards. Yeah, I've used DirectBuy. And in the beginning, we used to go to the showroom. But for whatever reason, they stopped having a showroom. Now, you have to do that all online. It’s not more difficult now. It’s just a different way. You can’t see the stuff but I do my own research. What I do is I find another furniture place that carries the merchandise so I can actually see it. But sometimes, you run into the problems where they’re not necessarily the same authentic stuff. For example, there was one piece that I was buying through DirectBuy. My wife and I went to a store here in Georgia to go look at it but the item was a replica. It was obvious too. It was not something that’s 90% convincing. It was about 70% convincing.

    I wish DirectBuy would have more showrooms or some idea where they can recommend for someone to actually go see the stuff with their eye. That would be great. I think not having the showrooms is probably gonna hurt the company down the road. But the only issue I have with the DirectBuy is the delivery process. When you buy the furniture and pay for delivery, it goes to the central location. You have to go pick it up or you’re gonna have to pay for another delivery. Delivery should be from the manufacturer straight to your house. Nonetheless, I'm 100% satisfied with DirectBuy. Overall, the experience has been pretty good.

    My husband and I paid close to $4K to join in 2012/2013. We were doing quite a lot of renovation and thought the membership would help us hold the line on expenses. From the first item I ordered (a wedding gift for a niece) it was a huge hassle. Order mix-ups, shipping delays of several months. When renovating, a several month delay is costly and we found that often given the savings, we were getting more headaches than value and let our membership lapse that first year. A VERY expensive lesson.

    To this day we get emails to rejoin for $150, $100, this latest, $60. Given the front costs and the very little return, one would think that we would be at least entitled to membership until we attained at least a fair percentage of value from that initial investment. Like I said, a very expensive lesson that still stings to this day. Never again.

    I wanted to redo my kitchen and having seen all the ads on TV, I thought of checking DirectBuy out. I joined in 2007 and have since done an entire renovation of my kitchen. At that time, I’m a single woman so I couldn’t take anybody with me and it was very hard to choose different finishes. But the people that I worked with in Barrie were wonderful.     We were renovating an old house and we were looking at new furniture. We went into DirectBuy to see. We've purchased mostly furniture as well as an area rug, paint, and fixtures. I'm pleased with the quality of everything I've gotten so far. If we had to make a major purchase, we always looked at DirectBuy before we purchase from a retailer. If it's something small, we usually order online and have it shipped to the house. For the bigger furniture purchases, I usually like to talk to somebody.

    We know what we want and we will find a store that has it. Then, we would find it somewhere else. We would call and ask about the price and there have only been two times that DirectBuy has not at least matched the item, even if it was 100 bucks. Now, it's much easier with the concierge service. They used to not deliver to your house and now, everything can be delivered to your house instead of having to go to a warehouse or the store to pick the item up. This is really better for us, especially for big purchases.

    When we joined DirectBuy, they still had the in-store design rooms. We paid the big lump sum up front and we just pay a renewal fee once a year. We had a three-year before we started to do the renewal and it more than paid for itself in the first three years with the items that we bought. Now, they have a different type of membership and the numbers are different and if there wasn't the large lump sum upfront again, I would definitely recommend it. Five years ago, we made that choice. We knew what we were gonna purchase and we made sure we got our money's worth.

    We have been DirectBuy members since 2008 and we've bought furniture, appliance, tool equipment, mattress, and window treatment there. We go to DirectBuy Ottawa and our experience with them was always very good. When we go there, we try to regroup the order that we need so we don't need to go often. We also did it online. The catalog is also nice to receive. Navigating through their website is very good though they have changed it recently when I went on there. It said error, and then I saw shops, brands and all that.

    The products that I got at DirectBuy was very good. Although there was one piece of furniture that we had a problem. It was bedroom furniture and it had a crack. We didn't get compensated because they were not in business anymore. It was upsetting because it was solid wood and we paid quite a bit for that. Even with the reduction with DirectBuy, it was not cheap furniture. They should consider having more brands from North America or Europe and less Chinese-made products. On the other hand, we are expecting a couch that is gonna arrive in March and the concierge has been very useful to help shopping when we have a question. Overall, DirectBuy is a very good brand. For the amount that we put to our membership fees, I think it was worth it and I'd recommend them.

    I got a whole house full of discounted furniture from DirectBuy, including hardwood floor and shoes. I signed up with DirectBuy due to the discounts. Way back when I started, they had brick-and-mortar buildings. I went into the store and I had a chance to sit down on the furniture. Since they were selling Ashley Furniture products, I went to Ashley and sit down on the same furniture. If I like it, then I get it. Now, DirectBuy is online and I recently signed back up with them. I'm doing everything by calling into their concierge and they're the ones that do everything for me. The interactions I've had with their customer service reps were fantastic. They work with me and are very helpful and mindful of my time.

    Among the products that I've ordered from them, there was only one thing that didn’t turn out right. There was an extra warranty for my furniture and we called DirectBuy to have it fixed. But for some reason, in the small print, I found out that the company that they had to contract with way back in 2003 couldn’t fix the furniture. So, we had to pay out of our own pocket to get it fixed. People should take time to read the fine print on any additional warranties. Because if they don’t, they might find that there is something that they thought they have but actually, they didn’t have. Other than that, I'm very happy with DirectBuy.

    We went for a tour of rental properties, so we thought it would be to our advantage that we become a member of DirectBuy. We've ordered flooring, carpets and those type of things. With one of the flooring orders that was delivered, the delivery company was not very professional. The house is at the bottom of the hill, and they dumped everything at the top of the hill. We had a workman there that saw them drop it three times, so some of the boxes were busted over open. Luckily, it was hickory flooring, so it wasn’t damaged too badly. But it did influence my buy. Shortly after that, when I needed tile, I didn’t get it from DirectBuy because that definitely would have broken had I received the same delivery people. Also sometimes I would like more brands.     We've purchased mattresses, pots and pans, an LG washer-dryer and a crib through DirectBuy and I’ve been happy with the quality of the items. They've been name brands. The crib has lasted through three kids. It still looks fine and we passed it off to my daughter to use. For us the warehouse and the little place that they have stuff on display and their catalogs are far away from us. But their concierge service has been really nice.

    We order a fridge, washer and dryer before the New Year and have not received any of them. We just got an email apologizing that the delivery date will change and if we would like to cancel our order if we don't agree with the delivery date (middle of February, if it doesn’t change again). Now after months of waiting for our stuff, they’re saying to cancel it if I don’t want to wait any longer. Are you kidding me?     Right before Christmas I placed a large appliances order and shortly after I realized that a couple of the appliances I ordered were incorrect. One of the Concierge Shopping agents (Pat **) patiently helped me cancel my original order and placed a new one for me with my revised appliances.     There was a DirectBuy in Burbank that was very close to us, which is not there anymore and that upsets me. That was a real drawback. We have to go hours and hours away. It doesn’t work for us but we’ve done some things over the phone. But it’s much more difficult because we’re not computer savvy. It’s easier to go through the catalog. We've been a member for ten years and we haven’t ordered much, but what we have ordered, we were happy with the service. So far, there was one bed we ordered that broke down right away, but they stopped carrying that, so we were okay there.

    With my 10 years membership with DirectBuy, I have always been happy with the quality of the items I've purchased which I've used for doing three kitchens, four bathrooms and building another house. Unfortunately, I have to order everything online. They closed all the local locations in my area. I definitely would prefer to be able to go into the store for certain things. If I don’t know the products, it’s hard to make the decision, straying from a new product line, from one product line to another. And DirectBuy discourages the touchy-feely, going somewhere else to look at the brand name that they sell that I can’t put my hands on.     I primarily buy home furnishing or home improvement products from DirectBuy. But occasionally, I also get some fitness equipment as well as some technology products. Purchasing from them has bee straightforward. It's very clear in terms of how to navigate through purchasing. Lately, I have used the project coordinator feature in doing a home improvement projects. It's a new approach to purchasing, and it's been useful. I'm currently dealing with a defective shoe, but I have a merchandise specialist that's doing a great job in reviewing and chasing that down for me. But overall, the quality of the product is great.

    When I'm dealing with one consistent person, it's a very positive experience. But if it's more of call center, sometimes it's positive and sometimes it's not. I feel a little rushed at times but I understand that it's the nature of high volume of calls are coming into the call center. I personally enjoy it when it's more of one specialist I'm working with because I do feel better if they're more invested in calling to inquire about.     I've been a member of DirectBuy for 40 years. Through the years, I bought bedroom sinks, mirrors, couches, and chairs from them. My wife likes the jewelry sometimes. We used to like our purchasing experience there but now, we're not as happy with it without the showroom. I used to tell people DirectBuy was really good because you could go to the showroom, look through the books and see the stuff. I'm not as happy with it online and it's a little harder to find stuff there sometimes. We like the books. It gives you more information and a better picture than they do online.

    With DirectBuy now, when you want anything or have to find out about anything, you have to call somebody. I ordered seven knives before Christmas and about five weeks later, I never got anything even though their customer service said they had a promised date for our order, December 8th. But a couple weeks after that, we never got it so we called them back. They said they would check into it but I never really heard back from them unless I called them. They promised six to eight weeks but that time went by. I finally called back and told them that if they had not shipped the knives yet, just cancel the order. This is why we like the showroom because at least we have somewhere to go or someone to talk to. They would find out then get back with us really quickly.

    I placed an order for an entertainment console in early November and was told to give two weeks before asking for a delivery date. I checked online after three weeks only to find that I needed to call in order to get a status. I called and was told that the item had shipped from the manufacture and would be at the Houston warehouse shortly and that I would receive a call to set up delivery. I called back two weeks later and left a message but no one called me back. I called again and was informed that DirectBuy had requested a delivery confirmation from the manufacture because the item had been delivered to the Houston warehouse. After many chats and calls, I finally received a call to schedule delivery and then received a call from the escalation department (odd that they would finally call me after the delivery was set up).

    Today the item was brought to my home and it was damaged; when I pointed this out to the guys that were delivering it, they said that they had informed the DirectBuy warehouse people of the damage and were told to deliver it anyway. I called DirectBuy to ask when I can expect a replacement and was told they need to open a ticket and investigate the claim first before they can make any determination on a replacement. I was offered two low cost memberships as a holiday special, do you think that I will be buying anything else from DirectBuy?

    We got a telephone call 25 years ago from DirectBuy. It was UCC Total Home at that time. We went in for their little spiel then we signed up back then. We were members for 10 years and then another year. Then we had to sign up again and we’ve been members of it. With DirectBuy, we’ve done the kitchen, hardwood floor and carpets. I was called a merchant member back then so they gave a special rate for those who provided the service to the club members. I was a carpet installer and flooring installer for the club but we were separate contractors. They just use my name when they do their little spiel that they had contractors to refer their members to who gave them a discounted rate.

    I worked for stores so I gave the DirectBuy members the same price that I give to the store. The store marks it up from there so they were getting contractor rates. The original owners of DirectBuy were great. But when they sold it to the new owners, it went downhill big time. Then the Ottawa chapter went bankrupt, and then they started it up again. We’ve always managed to renew at the time when it was reasonably priced. 1,200 bucks covers the first two years, and after that, we just pay the monthly fee of $200 which is not a big deal. But its cost has changed again recently. I heard it went up to 6,000 which is fine if we're building a house. But for the general consumer, it was out of reach and it’s not worth it. We spend $7,000 to save a $1,000.

    We did a kitchen just recently, and it went well. When I ordered the product, some of it was through online and some were through a catalog. For the kitchen, we had to go and get a designer to do it all. There were a few mistakes from the designer’s part, which I wasn’t too happy about. But all in all, we saved a lot of money on our kitchens which we did just a couple of months ago.

    We went for a visit to one of the DirectBuy centers was out in Kanata then it was in 2006, two years later, when we were renovating a home that we joined. We've bought appliances, kitchens, counters, lighting, some sports stuff and mattresses. And the experience was very good. The items I've purchased are high quality too. If I didn’t belong in DirectBuy, I would have had mediocre goods with the money I spent in my last house. But I spent on DirectBuy the same amount of money that I was initially gonna spend and yet the quality of the goods was phenomenal.

    I can also understand that some of the hours have changed because they have reduced work staff in the stores. I used to have a few more hours but I’m flexible on what I can do during the day so I don’t find it difficult to get in and talk to them, see what’s going on and try and figure out what I need. But we question why they keep the membership if the stores aren't there. To physically go and talk to someone and have their knowledge there is part of the membership, right? That’s what I really rely on most of the time.

    I haven’t made too many orders online. In fact, 90% of my purchases are done in the store. It’s a combination of working with people in the stores which really makes the difference because not everything is in the website. It’s hard to delineate what you can and cannot get sometimes so I find the best resource is going in. Even now, the shops are smaller but still, the people there are great. They know their stuff so it makes it a lot easier to figure out what you’re looking for or what it is that’s being provided. But overall, the experience has been positive so far.

    DirectBuy is direct from the manufacturer as opposed to going strictly on the retail side and they offer a discount for merchandise. I’ve been a member for close to eight years now and in the past, my purchasing experience was excellent. But the whole franchise process has changed up and my purchasing experience of late hasn’t been too good. Everything is basically online now and it has some advantages. But it mainly has some disadvantages because you can’t really see and you don’t get an idea.

    They don't have any stores in Pennsylvania now. I know they have something in Canada where you can go and sit, and they have all the catalogs that you can look through. But they don’t have that in the United States anymore and that creates an issue. You can’t just walk over to a representative and say if you've got an issue with something or ask to be directed to something. Now, you gotta do it yourself. DirectBuy also needs to have a better answering service. You can be on the line for half an hour before you get a person. And even before that, there are some instructions that take a good 10 minutes to go through in order to get put on hold. So that system they use sucks.

    I’m also having serious problems with a furniture I bought recently. When it was delivered, it wasn’t able to come through the door on the room that I wanted it to go to. There was some disagreement that the furniture was supposed to be delivered and put in the garage but that wasn’t my understanding. Under no circumstances would I allow to put it in a garage because of what was agreed on by the person I was dealing with at the time. It was supposed to be delivered to the room of my choice. There was also a combination of discussions not only with DirectBuy but also with the company that they used to do the delivery of the furniture. Although I never really got a firm, “Yes, that was what was agreed to,” from DirectBuy, they took it back anyway.

    We agreed that they would try to come out with a better crew to see if they could fit it in that room. But I'm under the opinion that it won’t fit. I've said that it's okay and that I'll have them put the furniture in another room that I think it would fit in. It's not what I wanted but at least it could fit. I actually wanted to downsize it but what I didn’t read was a small print that said the company Ashley has a policy that they will not accept any returns. Aside from that furniture, I've had no problem with the quality of any other items. They were all top-notch quality and the purchases I've made were of the major items. I had a complete kitchen remodeling done and that involved cabinets, a refrigerator and granite. There were also bathroom supplies and ceiling fans. One other major purchase I did was for windows and doors for our house.

We wanted the best of everything! DirectBuy did the design, ordered the custom cabinets, and the appliances. Well cabinets are a piece of junk, they’re falling apart, paint is coming off and the company that built the cabinets moved away and disappear. We were left stranded and abandoned! DON’T JOIN!!! We did kitchens and bathrooms projects and we purchased items from them as well as outside furniture. Their products have good quality and the purchasing experience was good too. There was a location here in London but there isn’t anymore. And now, the Mississauga and Markham are closed. So, it’s a bit too inconvenient for us to continue the membership. It’s almost a three-hour drive just to go to the showroom. It was a great opportunity, but unfortunately, without there being a location near us, I wouldn’t recommend it because it’s too hard to be able to purchase items. It’s just way too far for us.

    Unfortunately, I keep having horrible experiences with this company. I've been a member for over ten years. The services charges have skyrocketed! I purchased three couches just last week. My savings (after responding items) was only $400.00. I know it's a lot of money, but when you put waiting time into it, it's not worth it. I could have had the couches way earlier straight from manufacturer. The service charges were well over $700 including the horrific shipping charges. These costs were a lot less back in the day. No wonder they are closing stores every day. It was a great place to shop years ago. Is it worth the money today? Not sure I could answer that. Two thumbs down. Not sure if I'm going to keep my membership active. Think twice before you pay once, every year, and every purchase.

    We thought of renovating our kitchen and heard that DirectBuy was a way to save money. We had an invitation to come in and listen about it, and an example on how we could save was given. In 2009, we decided it would be worthwhile and renovated our kitchen. Purchasing from DirectBuy was amazing, but we didn't get the best installers. I also found it difficult when we thought of doing our bathroom and wanted to pick out everything. We went to a bathroom event, which I thought was going to be something I could get some information from and some help on renovating our bathroom, but it was more of a selling off of other products they were discounting. When you’re looking at doing a project, the installation part of having something done is a bit of a concern sometimes.

    However, the experience has been better than it used to be and I like ordering online as well, but the website was not very user-friendly. Now, it’s much better than to call in and get someone to help you. We also bought flooring as well as quite a bit of furniture, which is what we’ve used DirectBuy for after the kitchen. The quality of the items has been good. I looked at what I was buying elsewhere before I bought it, so I knew what I was getting.

The experience has been very good, but we had a terrible time getting our bookcases, our last major purchase, which was in July. We were getting the wrong information from DirectBuy all the time. Finally, it was escalated and we had a supervisor step in. It got nasty for a little bit, but we had gotten it resolved and we got the furniture.     It was in the middle of the 90s that I joined DirectBuy because of the prices and the discounts. It's probably 20 years now but in the beginning, I didn’t get a lot of things from there because in those days, the salespeople were not that nice or that good. They didn’t lend much help when I was going to those centers and leafing through catalogs. But that's changed quite a bit and they’re much better about it now. In fact, I like the purchasing experience. It is certainly easier now that they’re online. I’m doing a new building project so I’m getting a lot of stuff from DirectBuy for that, probably my whole bathroom installation. I've also purchased a lot of household things like dishes, kitchen utensils and a ceiling fan. I only go with brands that I know so I’m happy with the quality of the items I've purchased.

    However, DirectBuy's website is awful. There’s only one picture of everything, which is not good, and you can’t really blow the pictures up very well. I would like a zoom feature. The searching engine on the website is not good also. For instance, I just bought a Kohler vanity and one of the accessories that you can get with it are these metal legs. Every set of legs for this vanity was sold separately because you can also hang the vanity from the wall. And it was really difficult to find these legs separately on the website. I put Kohler vanity legs and they didn’t come up. On the other hand, they really improved in the fact that they give you the whole price upfront now. They didn’t use to do that. I have recommended DirectBuy to other people but they say that they have to pay so much for DirectBuy. Indeed, when we joined, it was very expensive. I think it’s a lot easier and cheaper now though.

If you want good quality, then DirectBuy is the way to go. Because to buy the cheaper stuff, you can go to the store and buy it on sale.     There's only so much money we can pay for stuff. We worked through the owners of a DirectBuy franchise for many years. If we went through them, we could get better things for our money. We became members of DirectBuy back in the 80's. We just bought a house, and I knew what I was looking at for furniture. Everything I'm looking at except my wife's desk was bought through DirectBuy.

    I enjoyed going to the showroom on a Saturday afternoon, sitting at a table, and looking at half a dozen catalogs of what we were looking for, to figure out which one we really wanted. We even brought tape measures so we could picture how big they were. I also enjoyed the interaction with the owners and their salespeople there, they're wonderful people and very accommodating. It was the personal experience that got us. Unfortunately, we don't have that anymore. They retired and they weren't replaced.

    On the merchandise side, we're very happy with them. The last things we bought were Lenox Christmas gifts and they're very nice. We've been providing our family with Lenox holiday ware for 20 years. The drawer I bought my wife was a good bargain. I also just bought a watch for my nephew that's graduating in college this spring, and I'm paying half of what they're selling at the discount stores. Something that has a list price of 60 bucks, we can buy at The Outlets for 30 bucks, but we can get it at DirectBuy for 19 so we don't mind giving that stuff because we're paying the same amount of money, just better stuff. However, we noticed that the prices are becoming less and less of a bargain, over the recent years. We don't buy as much as we're in our 70s, so we're not in the accumulation stage of things. We don't deal with the hassles with large items from them anymore so we pay for the convenience of getting something locally.

    In addition, we have to stay away from their travel organization. It's a rip-off. When they originally offered a new service, I trusted them implicitly and paid a couple thousand bucks upfront to be one of the members. But I'll never get that back. They've been jerking me around ever since. We were told that if we bought into this, we would get our money back. It was just over down payment. If I take a cruise, they use that money to deduct the certain percentage off the top.

    The last time, we did all the work. We went to the cruise lines, set up everything, and then after we got what we wanted, we turned it over to DirectBuy. They saved us 150 bucks, but they didn't do the normal cruise agent things. The first cruise we took with them, they didn't pay the cruise line one time so we got kicked out of our handicapped room, and the only thing they would offer us is a substitute. We were booked into a handicapped cabin with a balcony. For the same money, they were offering us an inside handicapped cabin without discount.

    They also keep calling us with vacation packages that are set up as a timeshare. They've messed us up several times and they keep calling me about these timeshare things, and I don't want to pay money to get into a timeshare. I tried to get out of it and they told me, when I started to figure, at the small fine print apparently was like two days late in trying to back out, and they wouldn't let me. Now, if I sat down with the owner over in Chichester, and talk it all through, I would've understood all this. But, that is not the way they work anymore. Other than that, although we paid extra money to get DirectBuy's concierge service, they've been very good.

    We were looking to do a roof 15 years ago and I was not happy with DirectBuy's sales tactic. It was a really high pressured sales pitch and the reps said we had to do it that day, and we ended up not using them for the roof. But it has changed since then and we’ve been extremely happy with the project we’ve been doing the last two years. We did the toilets in the last house and we’ve been doing an entire house remodel, top to bottom. The toilets are huge and I love all the lamps. I’ve been using the decorator and some accessories like mirrors. We also got the area rugs most recently and we used the interior designer through them. We’ve been very happy with the cost of the products as well. I wanted high-end toilets and we were able to get them for an extremely nice price and we bought less than we could in the stores.

    I’ve been using a lot of the concierge processing. The decorator or designer helps us pick things out and she gets them queued up for us. We then get sent a link on the email and then I pay for it. It’s very easy. We’ve gotten a lot of value on DirectBuy. In the past, I’ve used them for invitations too. It was a nice benefit that I got out of it. Also, I can go online and get new silverware. However, I usually like to touch and feel some of the merchandise that I’m selecting and the fact that it’s not a brick-and-mortar and not having a place to do that can be a bit challenging. But having the help of the decorator, she has picked out things that I would not have picked out ever. She knows how to do it and she knows how to find me the right prices. She has been key to making it successful for us. Some people are willing to pay more to be able to touch and feel things, but for people who are do-it-yourselfers, I would absolutely recommend DirectBuy.

We saved some money. We had to go to St. Louis to pick the things up and sometimes they shipped it which was very convenient. Some of those appliances were not as good quality as I wish though but, overall, DirectBuy is a very reasonable way to go.

    My wife and I were invited to an open house in 2012. They made it sound that we were going to save tons of money! Really?? First we had to sign a contract and pay a cost of almost $4,000. After that there is still a yearly membership to pay in order to have access to their website. Now, they have CLOSED all the physical locations. That was a HUGE mistake, and regarding savings, I think that's a total lie. When I was looking for specific products, most of the time, they were not available at DirectBuy, and when they were able to get it the price they were asking was the price you would pay anywhere else. I found even certain items cheaper on other websites. Their answer is then that "We could open a claim for this," and that they would match the same price. We paid $4,000 for this???

    On top of it when I reached out to them about that investment, they were responding that this investment were for the franchises, but they're ALL CLOSED, so where is that money? I feel that we should be reimbursed that investment money, or at least a big chunk of it. That company is a RIPOFF and I definitely would not recommend it to anybody. They don't seem to want to do anything about that. This is not the end of it.

    DirectBuy's like my Amazon wherein I compare other's prices with. If I find something that I really like, I'd check if DirectBuy has it or something similar to it. I also find most things in DirectBuy at a lesser cost. But there have been equal products that I've inquired about online and found the costs less at a bathroom place. Nevertheless, their product's quality is great.

    The only thing is the communication between DirectBuy and myself when I call in. We ordered tile and asked them to let us know as quickly as possible ‘cause the tile man was here and we were paying him by the hour. No one ever got back to us on that. My husband called the place himself and they said they had it. We picked it up, but it's still on my order list. That was very upsetting. But recently, I went into DirectBuy, researched what type of door I wanted for the shower, put it in my wish list, then bought a Kohler glass shower door which I’m going to need an estimate of when that thing is coming.

    Since being a DirectBuy member, we've bought some beddings and made renovations for the kitchen and flooring to our two homes. It doesn’t usually take a lot of savings to pay for the membership but buying the three mattresses paid for it. And then we moved to another place in Calgary which we are currently renovating. We also have another place in BC wherein we were doing some renovations. We didn’t have any furniture in the second home that we bought in BC ‘cause we weren’t moving. We were just gonna own a retirement property and a place to go to for the summer. So, things like stuff in the kitchen and two sets of couches were quite expensive when we first had the membership.

    However, ordering's a little bit more confusing nowadays cause it seems to be going more online which is a bit harder ‘cause sometimes, I don’t always know the suppliers’ names versus what they’re supplying. In the old days, we used to go to the store, go through the catalogs, and then put the order in. And then, the order would come in to the center and I’d go pick it up. But other times, I could just phone, and we would converse through emails.

    On the other hand, quality’s been excellent. I do a lot of shopping in the area and I typically wouldn’t buy a couch unless I sat on it in a store somewhere. And then, I would have the information, take it back to DirectBuy and find the item, because I know the supplier's on DirectBuy’s list. So for anyone doing renos or plans to, DirectBuy's worth it. If you want to have access to different suppliers from the US, join DirectBuy because sometimes you don’t get that in Canada. Even my family members have joined. They saw what they'd get from it.

    I called DirectBuy's number and they said they had a store up in Chichester, Pennsylvania. I went out there and they did the whole spiel. It was a lot of money, so I told the guy that I’d sleep on it but I promised to return the next day. The next day, I came back and became a member. So far, everything that's in my kitchen I purchased from them. That includes the hardwood floors and fitting for the cabinets. I've also purchased furniture.

    When they had showrooms, you just basically went up there and it was nice because you could see everything. It was very tangible. Back then, they also had catalogs. You could just sit there all day and look at the catalog and go to customer service. However, when they went to just being a call center or online, you call them, tell them what you want and they’ll eventually find it. If they don’t have it, they’ll let you know and they could refer you to something else. Still, the cost is good. Anyone who's getting a new house is going to be happy with DirectBuy. They're gonna get their money's worth.

I do not like being online and ordering stuff like ‘cause I don’t get to see them. I like drawing things up. I even asked a salesperson to come to my house or at a meeting place but she never had a computer that we could draw in as we’re sitting there and talking.     A friend brought us to DirectBuy and at that time, I liked the prices that I could get certain things at. Also, there are a lot of merchants there that I couldn't access at a regular store. I could also go to DirectBuy and talk to someone which was good. Lately, we have done a complete remodel of our condo so, we have purchased cabinets, flooring, a cork countertop and lights for our place. They're always happy to help and if something isn’t quite right, they'll back us to make sure that we’re satisfied.

    They don't sell the junk. They try to cater to more higher-end which I like and I like the special offers too. For example, now they have the travel which they didn't have before.     I love DirectBuy. I've been with them for 10 years. We were building a house when we got the membership. I got all the plumbing fixtures for the house, all the light, all the furnitures through them and I’m still buying stuff. I just bought a futon for one of the bedrooms upstairs. The experience with them has always been positive. The only thing is that they’re closing down the showroom. So I miss the showrooms. I’m a visual person and I like to actually go and see stuff. But all the products are high quality.

    One shipment got lost, which was really wasn’t their fault. But they got right on it. This guy emailed me every other day a status of what he was finding out about where that shipment went to and made sure that got down there to us. That was just exceptional. I expect that out of them. They found the shipment and it had just been mismarked.

    I try to encourage everybody to go to DirectBuy but it’s a little cost-prohibited. When I told people how much it cost, they made gasping sounds. But when you do big projects, you will save that money instantly, and then you continually save money after that. I try to explain it to them, but a lot of people just don’t have that kind of money. It’s a huge investment. But for anybody that’s getting ready to build a house or do a major remodel, I definitely encourage them to join. You can go to Lowe’s, Home Deport or Menards, and you can buy cheap products but it’s made out of plastic. It’s not gonna last.

    I had to get a hold of one of the vendors directly because of this horrible plumber that we hired to plumb the house screwed up one of the diverter valves. So, I emailed the company and I said, “It’s not your fault, but we have this idiot plumber and somehow, he can’t figure out how to put the diverter in the tub.” I also said, “This valve’s not working, and I hate to just reorder the whole thing.” They said no problem and they sent me the replacement part for free. Didn’t make me pay for shipping or anything. They sent me a replacement part for it.

    I've had a DirectBuy membership in Canada since 2010 and the experience has been quite exceptional in a lot of cases and there have been others that have been a little off. I still have one matter to finish taking up with them and I haven't done so. Essentially, in Canada, I ordered something, not understanding that there was gonna be a duty to be paid. I ended up getting the product and the product was not the color that they indicated in the picture. But they were very good. They told me to donate the product then get my donation receipt and let them know, and they'd refund me. Well, I didn't even have the product here and I still had to pay $141 to FedEx. So I dealt with FedEx and they ended up sending me to a collection agency because they said that they were gonna reduce my bill and send me out another invoice, but they never did. I got that cleared up but at the end of the day, I paid almost $100 in duty for something I didn't even have.

    Other than that, we bought a set of luggage one time, and it was damaged. When we opened it up, each piece was priced individually and they were marked down, like they had a sale price on them. It looked like they had been a return from somewhere else. But that was dealt with magnificently. They sent me a barcode and I packaged it up. They picked it up, and I received a new set within two days. I also did a whole kitchen with them. It was a little difficult because it was a lot of their individual research.

    We are now in the process of purchasing a home in the States so I've switched my DirectBuy to the States. I should try chatting with someone there and they could help me along with learning about more of the products that are available down there. I had to renew last year and I didn't renew for one but for three, so that's a good sign. I would definitely tell my friends to go with DirectBuy but they have to be prepared to do some work. When it comes to furniture, it's a little easier when they can actually go in to a store and talk to someone then look at the catalogs and see the upholstery and feel it, rather than having to try and do things all online. I'm not a real great online person and I haven't had good luck with a few other things online either, so I've been reluctant.

    When I joined DirectBuy, I had just bought a new house and was needing a number of items. It seemed like I could save money at DirectBuy over buying retail. Since joining, I've purchased a number of things including appliances, clothing and gardening equipment. It’s fairly easy to order and it has always been a positive experience. The things have also come as described. One of my initial worries was that the quality that I see in the catalog may not be the same quality that I get in real life. But that wasn’t the case. In fact, the quality of the products I’ve purchased are very good. The prices at DirectBuy are great too. If you’re wanting to buy something that is low to mid-range, you’d save a little bit. But if you’re buying things that are a little bit more expensive to start off with, then the savings are better. So the same as buying something of lesser quality, you can buy something at a higher quality at DirectBuy.

    The only small challenge is the return policy. If there’s something that doesn’t fit or that you think is a little bit different, you're either unable to return it or it's a pain. But this hasn’t been a big barrier for me. The introduction of the website and being able to purchase off there was extremely helpful as well. It would also be great if DirectBuy continued to look at the availability of products across the range. Not that there isn’t enough already, but there are some things that used to be there that I miss. Nonetheless, the service is good and I’ve saved money by being a member of DirectBuy over the years. It’s a good deal especially for anybody who’s starting out and buying a lot of items for their homes.

    We've been a member with DirectBuy since 2011. Since then, I have bought a lot of appliances and home improvement stuff. Initially, the experience was phenomenal, but for a couple of years now, it has been going downhill. For one, they want the money up front, and then it’s months and months till we get the product in. In May, we got blinds and paid the full price of close to 10 grand. Now, we’re still waiting. They've been saying it's on back order and that they will get to me, but we still haven’t got it yet. It’s not acceptable but there’s nothing we can do. They have our money, so we’re held hostage. We go to the concierge service and they’re useless, big time. They just reiterate what I tell them, and they say sorry but they can’t help us. So we are very, very frustrated right now.

    As soon as they get the money, they forget about us. The service is not there and people just don’t care. For instance, we have this top-of-the-line Samsung refrigerator that we just bought over a year ago, and the motor blew. It’ll be two weeks today that we've been waiting for the motor to come in. So, I’m here without a refrigerator in summer time. We also just made a huge purchase on windows and we’re crossing our fingers that we did the right thing. I hope things turn around. Currently, we're not impressed.

    I studied the value of getting DirectBuy. I gave it a test and we got some benefits out of it in terms of saving money. We have purchased appliances, entertainment unit, heating equipment and furniture. However, the experience with the customer service that was in the showroom itself was not very good. There were some very good customer service people that were a pleasure to deal with, and there were some who basically didn’t want to be there.

    But my recent purchase dealing with Divyya, was a breath of fresh air. Being a long-term member of DirectBuy, I know who has come and gone. I identify her as a new employee and when we sat down to do our orders, I found her to be very knowledgeable of the DirectBuy system, the protocols to follow and the extra effort she would take to find out about the third party or dealing with the head office.

    I was very impressed with her professional way of doing things. Considering the short time that she was there, she would have put the long term employees to shame in every aspect. Attitude and pleasantness are very important, and to be able to understand what the need of a customer is and to show interest are very important. That’s the way you represent a company to get an order. She was so well-versed and I have nothing but praises for her to my wife. It was a very gratifying experience for my wife and myself. DirectBuy even sent me an evaluation and I had no hesitation to recommend her to be in the draw for an employee performance.

    But the reluctance is, I had to pay the $4,500 upfront. I had just bought a house and just to upgrade the kitchen cabinets, the builder wanted to charge us $30,000 for maple cabinet. So soon after that, I saw this thing in DirectBuy. I called and I was introduced with the kitchen guy and I gave them a basic idea of what the size of the kitchen was. They did a rough and dirty calculation for me. They told me I can get a whole kitchen for around $16,000 or $17,000. Plus I have to pay the installer endorsed there. They also have that processing and shipping fee. Much as I disagree with it, but that’s a company policy. You have to suck that up and do what’s necessary. But as a customer, I should have the option to have the things be delivered at this price or go and pick them up from the site. Even so, I would recommend DirectBuy to a friend.

    I’ve been in business for about six years, and DirectBuy had a store here in Oklahoma City. I heard it from some builders that joining them was a really good thing to do. It was pretty expensive to join, but once you did, it really did have good benefits. At the time I purchased my membership, it was $5,000 to join, and then it was so much a year. At one time, I was paying $400 a year. Now, the rate has gone down since they don't have the store here anymore and it's about $299 a year. I pay it once a year.

    I loved purchasing from DirectBuy better when the store was here in Oklahoma City because I had a really good relationship with a lot of the salespeople there. I was buying lighting, flooring, and furniture, and I was in the store quite a bit. Now, they have a concierge service. It’s a little bit different when you have the concierge because you can’t touch it or see it or feel it, which is what I like to do. The items that I got have excellent quality. They're all name brands. They’re all exactly what they say they were, and I have had absolutely no complaints about the products I’ve ever received from DirectBuy.

    When the store was here, it was great because the people were just great. If you weren’t sure what you wanted and you said that you really like something very contemporary, there were really quick to pull out the books. You describe what you thought you like and they’d go right to the books and get it for you. You could see it and say that’s exactly what you wanted. I like the online and concierge service. The concierge people are very nice. But I still prefer to feel it, touch it, and see it.

    I’m in the process of ordering flooring. I’m completely changing all the flooring in my home. I told them that I really would like to order some more of this flooring as soon as possible. It normally takes six weeks, but it came in about two weeks when I said I really needed it. I was very surprised it got here so quickly. It was amazing. If you tell them that you really have a need for a product, then they’ll do anything they can to expedite it for you, which is a very good thing.

    I’ve always been satisfied with DirectBuy, but if they could lower the membership a little bit, they would have a lot more people joining. They could also tier the membership joining fee. If you’re a $5,000 member, then your fee per year would be $299. If you join and you spend $3,000, your membership would be $400 a year, or if you spend $2,500 or $2000 to join, your membership would be $500 a year. DirectBuy is a wonderful organization because you get exactly what they say they're going to give you.

    We joined DirectBuy right when we were about to furnish a new home so it worked out perfectly for us. Our first purchase pretty much paid for our membership. Memberships are very expensive so unless you're planning something big, I don’t know if it would be worth it. In our case, we’ve furnished two complete houses with DirectBuy, here in Canada and down in the States, in Phoenix. We mostly bought furniture and everything has been excellent in terms of quality. There aren't a lot of good places around to buy furniture so we’ve been very happy with what we’ve gotten. They have been really reasonably priced as well. By the time all the shipping and handling has been taken into consideration, we ended up paying about half of the retail price. So it’s been good value for money.

    When we first joined, there was also a design center where we lived so we could see all the fabrics and wood samples, and it worked out very well. If there hadn’t been a design center here, I probably wouldn’t have joined because I thought there was no way I could shop out of a catalogue. And it's a shame to see the design centers closing all over the place. The one where we live closed and most of the ones in Canada closed as well. There also used to be several in Phoenix and they’ve all closed except for one. Everything has to be ordered online now and then if I see something that I like, DirectBuy can send fabric samples. It's a more roundabout way of going through it and I find it very difficult. But I think the design centers are coming back again in some areas. Still, I'd recommend DirectBuy to anybody. We've been with them for at least 10 years and we haven't been disappointed since becoming members.

    DirectBuy provides me with quality products at reasonable prices, and it’s easier to get the quotations from them for the items. They also have a lot of different options to select from. I joined DirectBuy more than 10 years ago and over the years, we purchased furniture items like dining tables, sofa, lamps, and a bar stool. The quality depends on the kind of their products. They’re selling really low-end pricing and so, maybe the quality is not so good. But if you select the good quality product, then they are comparable to any other place where you can buy it. You might even pay more money there compared to DirectBuy.

    In the past, I used to go to DirectBuy's showroom and order there but now, I go online. If they don’t have the pricing there for the things that you like, then they will get back to you with the pricing through email, and then you can go ahead with the order. The only thing is the wait time for the order to arrive sometimes takes up to six weeks. It depends on where the item is coming from and to as well. Other than that, I would certainly recommend DirectBuy to people who are going to spend money on buying furniture. It is worthwhile for them to check it out.

    We bought a little bit of everything from DirectBuy, mostly appliances, and we got the best deal on them. It took a while to get used to purchasing the products, but once we got the hang of it, and now with the internet where they have all the stuff online, it’s a lot easier. Over the years, we’ve worked with our local franchise but they're shutting down in November, so we’re gonna work somehow differently. We’re not sure exactly how that’s going to work, but we’ve had great support from our local DirectBuy franchise. From time to time, we also called and talked to people and it has always been helpful.

    Everything is great with DirectBuy. When it comes to the cost, we found that over the years, we've done a little bit better than break even. The original cost was prohibitive for us, but we went and bought the membership anyways. And we haven’t purchased enough to really take advantage of the DirectBuy membership. But we appreciate that when we need to replace an appliance, we’re usually saving a great deal of money compared to paying retail. A year and a half ago, we needed to replace our oven and the one that we ended up getting was a higher-end but we saved almost $2,000 on that from DirectBuy. So we would recommend DirectBuy to friends if they’re planning on making big purchases. Then it would be worth their while.

    Direct Buy staff did not adequately communicate with the delivery warehouse. Direct Buy emailed us to say that our merchandise was ready for pick up before emailing the proper paperwork to the warehouse. Direct Buy also did not inform us that we had to wait for an email from the warehouse to be able to receive our merchandise from them. We have been members for many years and the quality of service has been reduced since they started closing stores in Ontario.

    We were building a basement in 2007 and we heard about DirectBuy. At that time, the cost was $6,000 to join and we saved more than $6,000 in purchases, so it paid for the membership. That basement was a $50,000 to $70,000 project. From then on, our purchases have been just furniture and appliances. Back then, it was a high-pressure push, one chance to go in. If we didn’t buy, we wouldn’t have an opportunity to go back and do it again. Now, they only have one store in Edmonton. You have to hear about them and it's about $700 or $800 to join. Also, everything is online. There is no store, so it's a pain in the **.

    At DirectBuy, we are buying as if we are buying from the manufacturers. They had very little stuff on the floor and what we had access to was all their catalogs. Now they put a very small percentage of their products on the web, so if we want to purchase something, we have to send an email and a day or two later, they'll come back with what the price is. But then we still don't necessarily know what's available. I used to go in there and snoop and research stuff on everything they sold, but now we buy very little there in comparison to what we did before.

    Most of time, we're saving a lot versus what we would in a store, but it's still buyer beware. We're supposed to be buying something at DirectBuy at a price that's the same as that of the other stores, but we found deals where it's cheaper. DirectBuy, however, has the capability now wherein if we find a product that’s cheaper, we can submit it and they'll give it to us at a discount. It varies from 10% to 20% depending on the type of product. If one has a project, DirectBuy is probably worth it, but it's not as convenient as it used to be. I wish they’d open up stores again like they have down in the States in Canada. They almost went out of business and that’s why they're doing this research right now. Still, the experience with them isn’t what it used to be and the only reason we keep our membership is that we do one purchase a year, so that pays more than what our membership costs.

    We've been a member of DirectBuy since its conception back in 2009. We had just purchased a home down in Florida and there were applications that we found appealing that we used for furnishing that house. We've since been using DirectBuy recently with the acquisition of another house and remodeling in addition. We've purchased appliances, flooring, carpet, and plumbing items -- more home remodeling type of things than furniture.

    The actual purchasing process has evolved. From when we first joined, they had the actual stores that we could go into, so we utilized the one in Omaha, Nebraska and the one in Sarasota. It was a nice experience because we could go in and go through some of the merchandising folks, look at fabric samples and things, and meet in person with a representative to place the order or do design work. Now, since those have all gone away and it's more online, it's a different experience, but we've been able to work through that process.

    We've had issues with the DirectBuy personnel saying, “Well, that’s not available.” And then, we've gone back to the manufacturer and they said, “No, that’s available.” So, we've had to do some of the work that the DirectBuy people should have been doing. The reps have been very attentive, though, in getting back to us for the most part and most of the interaction is via online, sending a request or making initial phone calls asking. They’ve always gotten back promptly with pricing and their bids, and follow up has always been very good.

    There is a value in terms of the discount. If you're willing to go through the effort in the process versus going to a home decor store or something in your local city, you can save money, especially if you're doing a big project. There's some value to taking the time and the effort to not just going into an appliance store and being able to see it and talk to somebody. However, there has been once or twice that we've had issues with items that we've ordered that have come that needed to be returned or had issues with ordering it. We found out after it has been ordered a month after that the product has been back ordered. And with our remodeling project, that didn’t fit into when we needed to have it there, so we went back and DirectBuy said that we needed to pay a restocking fee. I said that it really shouldn’t be our fault because they didn’t tell us up front that it was going to be delayed until December.

    For the most part, if you're looking to take the time, the process works and you can save money. If you want to go out and buy something today and have it delivered next week, then it's not the best option. They’ve gotten into having more gift items and the idea they’ve promoted to buy something for a wedding gift. The time that it takes to order something and have it delivered is not as easy as going to a store and buying a gift, have it wrapped, and mail it out to somebody for a wedding gift. I don’t look at DirectBuy as an everyday shopping experience, but when we've been rehabbing a house, it comes in very handy.

    If you know that you got a remodeling project coming up or you're going to be acquiring another piece of property and you need to buy furniture or you're gonna be thinking a lot of money into it, then DirectBuy is very worthwhile and you can save some money. But if you're just looking at an occasional purchase, the hard thing is you can't physically go to a store and sit down in a chair, and every piece of furniture is different. Sometimes, when it comes to buying furniture, you wanna know what it is that you're buying first, but that doesn’t work well if you do your research and you can find that they carry it.

    DirectBuy does not have as many manufacturers as they used to. So their product offering is a little more restricted now than what it was about nine years ago in terms of the brands that you could go online and look at purchasing. If you're set on buying one thing, you may not be able to get it from them, but if they carry that brand and work with the manufacturer, then it's a benefit.

    We’ve been DirectBuy members from when the store opened in Ottawa. At that time, they were saying on TV that DirectBuy was selling at the cost price. So we went there and they explained then we signed up. That year, I was building my own house and we had a lot of things to buy. So it was a good time to sign up. A lot of my friends know about DirectBuy now but the situation is not like ours in the beginning. They have their things so they don't want to be a member because they won't be buying enough things. Plus the membership now is really expensive.

    I've bought a lot of things from DirectBuy including the couches, the blinds, all my appliances, a bed and a mattress. But my English is not that good and although some of the people over there may speak French, they are not a lot so sometimes, it’s much harder for us. Before, you had to go to the store to make a purchase but now, you can do it online. You can see the product, the suggested price that maybe you can pay in the store and DirectBuy's price. It is much less expensive than in the store so there’s a big difference. From there, you can buy the product and then the delivery is between four to six weeks. For me, it has always been less than four weeks. The quality of the products is also good because you decide what product you wanna buy. And if you’re not satisfied, it’s a bit your fault because you bought something that you decided on.

    I've been a member of DirectBuy for 10 years now and used the membership for mostly flooring and material. Their products are of good quality, but they’re a bit of a pain to deal with. Each individual business is an individual business, and they happen to be part of DirectBuy. The process to go through DirectBuy to get something from the company is not worth it half the time. I can find the thing on sale if I look around without going through all the hoops. The house I just built has six bathrooms so I went through and bought a lot of plumbing stuff. But I found it cheaper to buy them at BestBuy than DirectBuy. They're also easier to get and way easy to return if something was wrong. DirectBuy could do things better with a little less bureaucracy, or a little better contact with the customers.

    I go and see the product I want to buy at the place where it exists, then I gotta go home and drive to the store in Edmonton. But I don't live in Edmonton, and I'm three hours from there. I gotta call in, pay for it, then gotta go through another week before it gets ordered. The process was good for the most part, except what happened recently in June. We ordered hardwood from them because we were building a house, then I realized after four weeks that it wasn’t ordered. It was supposed to be here in five days for the people to install it so that sucked. I wouldn’t buy a cabinet from them, or even the appliances because of the pain of it all.

    Having in mind that I am gonna build a house one day, I signed up with DirectBuy. I also got in just for the deals in building and have been a member since around 2006. From then, I have done a couple of kitchens and got windows using my membership. And my girlfriend had bought a few things too. Everything that we've gotten has been of good quality and the experience we had with our last big orders have been good as well. Dealing with the last lady we had for the windows was really easy and fast. I also have this kitchen designer that I always use because he's really easy and good. Although there was a little bit of a run-out one time when we were trying to get a TV and it was a long process, and then it was discontinued from the manufacturer.     The guy that I partnered with in business was a member of DirectBuy and he told me that a membership with them was a good deal, especially if I would be doing any renovations or big purchases. So, we checked them out and joined because of the great discount in pricing that we could get on furniture. We had just moved in to a place and we were doing a whole bunch of spending on making the place look good. In the last seven years, we've done a couple of major renovations on properties and we purchased all the plumbing supplies, like all the faucets, sinks and toilets, as well as the carpet from them.

    I like the purchasing experience a lot better now. It seems to be more user-friendly and relaxed. It's nice that I can go to a place like EMCO or Ensuite, check out their display centers and go through all the products there, and not have to go back to DirectBuy to feed them all the information that I gathered at Ensuite, knowing that they're not gonna be dealing with Ensuite. Then I can go to Ensuite and give them my DirectBuy membership and everything is cool. So, I like that part of it.

    Normally, we've already researched anything that we get from DirectBuy and we know what the quality is. We're not concerned about the quality and it's just that we know that we're getting the best price. I've already told people about them and the savings that I can get on certain products. If they had a major project, it wouldn’t take them long to save the cost to join.

    I was doing a lot of renovations at the time I joined DirectBuy. I like the savings and I've been a member for 10 years now. I've purchased mostly appliances and furniture. The purchasing experience is very difficult and the warranty could be improved. I have to inspect everything at the store so closely before I take it home or they're not gonna cover it. I got a table that had a little bit of water damage on the edge and because it was in the cart, I inspected it when I picked it up. It was upside down in the cart and I guess the corner got bumped by the freight company. Shipping damage once it leaves the store is not covered. But I also couldn’t see it when the package was open up until I actually put the table together at home. So, I have that feeling when I'm buying, especially when buying something for somebody else as a gift and then it's not gonna work for him.

    They could certainly improve their warehouse as well so that they could handle more products. Either they need a bigger warehouse or they need shelving to handle the product that get in because some days I go in there and they just can't move, which makes it difficult for them to take more stuff. They’d be able to handle a much higher volume if they could store it properly when products arrive. Quite often, they hold trucks back from Calgary anyway until they got room to take more. We deal with the Scottsdale branches while we're in Phoenix and they have the same issue with their warehouse being too small. Other than that, the quality of the products are good and anybody who I've called and spoken to were fine.

    We've been DirectBuy members for about 12 years and they've been really good. It was a good decision to join. It was hard in the beginning but we've definitely used it. As long as you can justify the buy-in, like if you’re doing some large project, do it. That was what we did in the beginning. We were remodeling the entire house and DirectBuy was extremely helpful. Since then, we've kept it up because we usually buy at least one or two items a year so it’s been good. In fact, I've bought just about anything that they had, even doors, locks and granite. That was granite countertop and tile flooring for bathrooms. I’ve also bought hardwood flooring, cabinets, a fireplace, couches, furniture, cabinets and a barbecue grill. I also bought a lot of Kohler products. I haven’t had any problem with anything. And if there is a problem, DirectBuy has been really good about backing it up.

    I had an issue with purchasing a faucet and they had it but all of a sudden, it was out of stock. It was gonna be a long time and when we were able to find it locally, they honored the price. The purchasing experience has been great. But I miss having the showroom and talking directly with some of the people down there that I established a good working relationship with. I also don’t have as many of the local vendors anymore, which I really miss, because I like to support the local vendors. But everybody that I’ve talked to in their office in Indiana has been more than helpful. Sheryl has been helping me and she’s been amazing and helpful. I’m in the process of getting some more cabinets. They’re getting delivered this week and everything has been going great. We've gotten DirectBuy's travel section as well. We’ve done cruises and those have also been good.

    We’ve been DirectBuy members for several years. We joined when we started building our home. We purchased things in the past like all of our kitchen appliances and our steam shower in our bathroom, a refrigerator for the garage and a dryer for our daughter. Now that you can order everything online, it has been great and very easy. I can go online and look, and look, and look. I don’t have to pull books out. I really like it.

    The products are excellent. Most recently, I placed an order for a cheap old Whirlpool freezer refrigerator. The first one that came out was dented so they didn't even drop it off. They didn’t give me a chance to say I didn't want it. The next one they brought out was the same refrigerator and it was also dented, not only in the top freezer door, but in the bottom as well. It was my responsibility to get ahold of Whirlpool and I did that, and they never returned my call. DirectBuy got ahold of them and worked with them.

    I’ve priced DirectBuy against Sam’s Club and Scratch & Dent. My husband was looking at some that were at Lowe's, but they were $200 more for their Scratch & Dent one than what we were paying for a brand new one. It was totally worth it. It was quite pricey back in the day. But now, we just do the renewal thing. I would recommend DirectBuy and I would join again.

    I've been a DirectBuy member for 10 years. My husband was building a house so we purchased cabinets and flooring from them. I got divorced so I had to buy all new appliances, and then I moved so I had to buy appliances again. And I just buy odds and sods from them. For the most part, my purchasing experience with them was really good. The quality is very good too. I would definitely recommend them. They have high-end stuff. I bought blinds, furniture, and flooring, and everything has been very, very high-end. So, if you don’t want to pay the price for high-end stuff, it’s not worth it.

    I was always in their showrooms when they used to have them, but they don’t have them anymore, which is the only downfall. I would really love to see the showrooms brought back because I had bought a couch. It’s awesome but not as comfortable as I would have hoped. Same thing with the mattresses. I bought four mattresses. I was really hoping that the one I bought for myself was gonna be ultrasoft because they said it was, but it’s not. So, that’s the only drawback.

We've bought electronics, furniture, and window coverings from them. This time around, we purchased a couple of the items online and only one in person, that being the blinds. We understand very well how the cost and handling fee works. We went with every purchase well-informed so it worked out as expected. The rep, Gordon, at the Mississauga location was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, quick, and efficient. If we had a friend who was going to be furnishing a house or looking to make some major purchases, we’d surely recommend DirectBuy.     We've been with Direct Buy since it was TotalHome and we bought furniture, flooring, and lights from them. However, we don’t like DirectBuy right now. They've taken out all the stores. At least before, the one DirectBuy that we had before it got closed had a huge amount of inventory there, so we could see the flooring, and it was a great help. It was awesome. Then we had to go to another one which was an absolutely horrible one, and then it also closed. Now, we're at our third one and it just closed too. And they weren’t even close by. We still have to drive all over the place.

    At one point we even ordered wedding invitations through DirectBuy. And we actually got to see the wedding invitation before we ordered 200 wedding invitations. The girl said they were gonna send us a sample and showed us what it was gonna look like. So, we had one sample that they made up for us, and then, we sent it. It was perfect. The girl was awesome because we used to do it with Leanne for 10 years. I would just phone her and say I was looking for this. She would say okay and when I would get there, she'd show me. She'd make sure they've got it all put aside. There was more help, where now, it's a little bit different.

    So, now, the reason I don’t like it is because when I look at flooring on the internet, how can I tell what it looks like? So, I have to go running around. I have to phone stores and ask if they sell this kind of floor or color. So, it's a little bit awkward. If I'm going to go all online and catalog-shopping, to me, paying what I do for a membership is crazy ‘cause I'm doing it all myself.

    I also find their website horrible. I was on it last night. I was looking for Napoleon Fireplaces. I put in “fireplaces” and then, it said there isn’t anything in that name. So then, I put in “Napoleon” and I got one Napoleon fireplace which came from one of their catalogs and the rest was furniture that had names with Napoleon in it. Also, when I was looking for a certain name brand of furniture, if it's Hooker, I could put Hooker in, and I might not have it on their website, but when I phoned and asked if I could get that, they said yes.

    One time, I had an order and it was supposed to come in and it was white, and I told the girl the numbers and everything else. She ordered it, I got it, she had written in the order form that it was seashell white. But when I got it, it was gray because the number didn’t correspond with what she wrote. I didn’t know the number because it wasn’t on their site. So, it's still better to deal in person if we can.

    I am a firm believer in DirectBuy. So, I'm still here. I would probably keep my membership because I will probably do another move again and nothing ever fits the same, but DirectBuy is just sometimes a bit of a pain. The other day with my husband, he asked why are we even bothering. We might as well just pay the extra 500 bucks and just go get it because I'm running around like crazy trying to research it and I couldn't. I would recommend DirectBuy to a friend as far as the price, but I don't know if I would recommend to a friend the way it's gone because brick and mortars cost money. But for some people, we need that one-on-one service rather than talking on the phone.

    We've been with DirectBuy for about 10 years, and we’ve used it all those years to furnish houses, apartments or condos, as well as to replace furniture and appliances. Originally, we liked the prices that we could get and It worked out for us. It was a good value and we’re still using it. As far as the online site, it’s fairly easy to navigate but you don’t have that person who can really help you with specific things. It was nice having a place to go where we had people who would help us find the specific things that we were looking for. They had samples of floorings, furniture and coverings, and they would show us the samples. Also, we’ve had a very long wait sometimes on some specific things. There was a six months wait time to get some stuff that we ordered. That would be the only downside if you want something right away and you need it right away.

    A friend of ours mentioned that they joined DirectBuy so we looked into it, too. We were building a house at that time and the allure of the kitchen cabinets seemed to be an easy way to capture back our original investment of signing up. We eventually signed up and we’ve been a DirectBuy member for about 13 years now. We've spent quite a bit of money purchasing various items for our first house. We are building another house and we purchased appliances, some higher-end furniture, and lighting from them. If we think that we’re going to be purchasing something a little higher end, we’ll go to the DirectBuy site and see if there are any opportunities there to save money.

    When we first got signed up, the purchasing experience was okay. It was different and we had a very limited experience with the actual products. We would look at various things and binders full of information on products. Then, there would be a store close by that we could look at it, but sometimes, we would just buy on the simple fact that it was a good quality name and assumed that it would come in and be that good of a quality. Now, it’s a little different experience and it is not the greatest because it essentially turned into an online purchasing experience, which is okay. We still can save money, but, in the end, we still sometimes are limited by what the product really looks like, feels like, tastes like, and all that stuff. Now that the offices have all shut down in a few key areas in Ontario, we are dealing with people on the phone. They are helpful on some degree, but we don’t have the hands-on feel.

    The quality of the products we've received so far is great. They are all name-brands. We recently bought a pile of appliances and they were all higher-end KitchenAid products. They are supposed to arrive in the next couple of weeks and we will install them in our new house. Hopefully, we will have a problem-free operation for the next 10 or 15 years. I would still recommend DirectBuy to someone especially if they are making some major purchases.     DirectBuy should keep expanding the number of lines that they carry. We tried to look into purchasing gas fireplaces, but they were really not that competitive versus buying from a local person. Also, they would have to keep expanding their higher-end lines and make the people aware when they send out their quarterly magazines to make sure that the newer products are in there and that they are advertised, so we know about them.

    I liked the availability of the merchandise at DirectBuy that wasn’t available elsewhere all in one location. However, it annoyed me that when we joined, we paid a fairly hefty fee. We paid $6,000 to become a member. When I was in there two weeks ago, they told me that there’s just a monthly fee now which is what we’ve been paying. We’ve been members for almost 10 years now and we got things from office furniture to appliances like TVs. Our overall purchasing experience has been good and the products that we’ve received have been excellent. Some of the handling fees were a little extraordinary but the product cost was good.

    Things have changed a little at DirectBuy though. We haven’t bought anything in about a year and when we went back in, I noticed it was a little desolate in the showroom which wasn’t before. There are only six DirectBuy showrooms in North America now which causes me concerns. They are gonna switch everything to being online which I’m not too happy with. I still like to have some kind of personal touch. Also, the communication hasn’t been that great this time compared to previous times. As an example, we ordered a Tempur-Pedic mattress base and pillows and I have to get a home delivery because I can’t go pick that up. I got a phone call saying it’s at the warehouse with the trucking firm. So, I arranged to have home delivery but I had to pay DirectBuy first before I could do the home delivery.

    Previously, I went to the location in Toronto North and we paid for the home delivery on the spot and then they delivered the item the same day. Now, it has been a week and we finally arranged the delivery for next week but I’m very apprehensive. DirectBuy should have told me when I bought the mattress that I should have designated a home delivery and paid for it at that time. That should have been disclosed to me upfront and it would have saved me a lot of running around. If you have time to shop on your own, shop for yourself elsewhere. You still have to do a lot on your own with DirectBuy.

    I’ve been with DirectBuy for a number of years and I've purchased so much there with my membership. We got a kitchen dining table set and tile floors. I also bought hardwood floors and got tremendous value with that purchase. Then we just got a bedroom set and it has come, even though it had not been a couple of weeks since we made that order. Our purchasing experience with them has been very good. The quality of their products is excellent and the cost is good. DirectBuy has been a lifesaver for me because I've been saving money.     They used to have a showroom in Chesterfield but everything is online purchasing now. The merchandise is good, but I don’t like it.     We went to a DirectBuy presentation and ended up joining them. Our house got hit by lightning in 2007 which took out my stereo, so I went to find a stereo and I was able to get it at DirectBuy for almost half the cost. Also, we’ve had our kitchen totally redone and we bought cabinets, granite countertops and all of our appliances through DirectBuy. We've also bought curtains, trim covering and paint.     DirectBuy's prices were low and during the time I signed up for membership they had a showroom, which was good. We built a house, so I'm in the process of putting all the furniture right now. I recently got two chandeliers and three pendant lights from DirectBuy. I also got some other bedroom furniture from them. I'll find the product somewhere and and I'll check to see if DirectBuy has it, and then I'll purchase it online or through the concierge service. As long as the product is there, it's easy. If I don’t see the product, I would email the concierge or some support shopping and see if they have it.

    The products I got from them are of good quality. But sometimes I wish they had more high-end stuff like for the appliances because I was looking to get a refrigerator. Other than that, DirectBuy has helped me save a lot of money and I really appreciate it. I would recommend them if a friend is planning on making a good number of purchases, but if they're not and they don’t plan on it within a year, then I don’t know if it would be the right system for them.

    DirectBuy has good quality products at very reasonable prices. We were building a house and we knew that we could benefit by getting a lot of products through them. We made most of our purchases 18 to 20 years ago but we maintained our membership every year because we may do a renovation. We've bought dining room chairs, light fixtures, faucets and plumbing fixtures and some upholstery fabric.

    The customer service has always been fine and there was always help in the store when I had questions about ordering things. Their policies seemed very reasonable. However, even though I haven't returned anything, it is a hassle to do it especially if you’re getting a big product. Once you get it home and there’s something wrong with it, you have to package it and drive it. It is something that would give us pause to order from them for sure. So, when we were building, we would find the items locally so we knew what they would look like and that we would be happy with them before we order. Nevertheless, I would recommend DirectBuy.     I've been a member of DirectBuy for about 10 years and I got them for the discounts on products like their furniture. We also just bought six appliances. Sometimes I order them online and then sometimes I look for them online and call the concierge once I found them. Sometimes I have to do that because I have a membership here in Michigan but I also live six months in Florida in the winter so sometimes I order stuff and have things delivered down there.

    I have purchased mainly furniture from DirectBuy. However, the dresser that I recently purchased that they delivered this past week wasn’t in the package. There was no paperwork with it and when I asked the person that delivered it if there was a warranty and if it was well as the rest of it, he said that the packaging takes up too much room on the truck.

    He told me that if I needed any other paperwork to call DirectBuy and ask them to come out with it. Also, when he delivered it, I was not ready to put it in the room because the room hasn’t been built. It has been stuck inside the door and there are no protective padding, boxing, or anything around it. I had first thought to put the items inside of the garage. It's the bottom half of the buffet and I was gonna put in the garage until the room was built. But I changed my mind and I'm glad I did because it only had a plastic wrap around it and a blanket over it. I expected the buffet to be very nice because it's an Echo piece. I saw a little corner on the back of it where it seemed like there was a little scuff mark, but otherwise, that was it. I just thought it was odd that I have ordered other Echo Furniture before and it came in a box.

    Also, when I'm looking for something, I cannot always find the item at DirectBuy. I bought the bottom piece of this buffet and I will probably buy the top part of the buffet one day. My membership had expired as of the 19th of this month, but when I had called DirectBuy before to see if they were offering any deals on membership, I was just told they will let me know.     When we were gonna remodel our kitchen, we started looking around and we saw the advertisement for DirectBuy. So we went in and they had a classroom where they showed us lots of products. Called several times and were given a delivery date both times (which when then had made plans to pick up on) but both dates came and went. On third call the person was very helpful and let us know there was a shortage of drivers to make the deliveries.     When I went to DirectBuy to talk to the people about what the membership was all about, they looked up the same couch that I had just bought. And they were able to help me realize what I could have saved. I absolutely joined right then and there. We were in the process of furnishing a few homes. We furnished a home down in Florida. A couple of our daughters also had homes that we were trying to help furnish.

    I've been a DirectBuy member for about 15 years now. But in the beginning, making purchases was a little tough because you had to go to the store and look up everything that you were wanting. But at least you had some people there helping you while you were doing that. Then once the items came in, you had to go back to the store, have them unpack it in front of you, check everything and then get it home. Those were sometimes challenging. We were on our way home once and the one of my daughter's chairs was not secured in the pickup truck as well as it could have been. And we lost one of them on the road. It got rather scarred up and broken. She still has it but it’s not perfect now.

    I always liked being able to go in, touch fabrics and look at different catalogues. It’s a little bit easier when it’s right there in front of you as opposed to looking it up online. But they definitely turned it around to where it’s more user-friendly. You can look at things up from their website and it's become a lot easier to manage when you're trying to get a whole bunch of things. You can also take a picture if you’re at a furniture store and ask DirectBuy, “Can you find this for me and send it to somebody there at the main office?” That's great. You can also have the furniture delivered directly to your home.

    On the other hand, there were some purchases that we’ve made over the last couple of years that we did not purchase through DirectBuy although we could have. One of them was a hot tub. I didn’t feel that that was as much of a savings compared to going ahead, paying the extra percentage and having the ability to utilize the company that delivered the hot tub for me. With DirectBuy, I wouldn’t have known who to contact if I had issues with it later on. So there are pros and cons to it still.

    Right now, we’re in the process of building a bigger new home down in Florida and I’m going to totally furnish it with furniture from DirectBuy as well. My only issue is that I don’t know what I’m gonna do with the furniture when it comes in and where I’m gonna put it until it's time to move into the house. That is about eight months away still. With a furniture store, you can absolutely purchase an item and they would hold it for you until you’re ready for it. This past week, my sister-in-law was bragging on this one furniture store and how they were 40% off. But comparing pricing, what I could get it for was still almost 50% off. So I said DirectBuy is still worth it to me and I don’t care if I have to pay for a delivery fee.

    My sister-in-law was saying that the $150 delivery fee was all I gotta pay and it didn’t matter how many times they would get delivered. That’s fine and dandy but when you’re paying close to 50% more than what I was paying to start with, I still see it as a total savings. There’s still a little drawback here and there. But my recommendation for DirectBuy is If they can come up with some ways to have a storage facility for people that might need it like myself. Still, I would absolutely recommend DirectBuy to anyone that’s looking at purchasing large amounts or even smaller amounts of anything for the household.

    Way back, I was building a house and thought to myself that there would be something worth looking at through Direct Buy. I became a member and thus far, I've bought everything from building materials, appliances, household goods, furnishings and window coverings. However, the structure of the company has changed throughout the years. Before, we used to go into the club and look through a bunch of catalogs then place an order for what we were looking for. Our store is two and a half hours from us but what's so much easier nowadays is we don't have to go and to do it online is so much better. The website is good but sometimes it's a little bit of a challenge. When I see something that I like, I put it on my wishlist, come back a week later and it's not available anymore which is a little frustrating. Other than that, the quality is excellent and some of the items give tremendous savings.     We went to the showroom in Massachusetts and we realized that there were things we would get wholesale and have savings. Now, we've been a DirectBuy member for almost 10 years.     I’ve been a member of DirectBuy since 2005 when I built a new house and I needed flooring, appliances and furniture. I’m a real estate agent so I’ve been using the membership for staging such as glass painting. Also, I’m renovating a rental unit that I have right now. The quality is good and I have always been happy with DirectBuy. I got good help and they answered all my questions but it’s a shame that I kept asking their head office and it took a long time for them to get back. I like that I can go into my local showroom here and get the answers in the one-on-one customer service face-to-face a lot quicker. I use DirectBuy all the time and I’m always there. It’s a shame that they downsized their showroom here and I find that a bit irritating. It’s harder to get stuff done, but the customer concierge shopping has also been very good. I’d like to see their website with their products updated more.

    People don’t use DirectBuy because the process on how you use it and the best way to use it is not quite clear. There are a lot of people who would try it and they don’t get how they have to shop and do it, and then they put bad reviews. However, it’s been an excellent experience and I’ve sent so many people to DirectBuy, it’s unbelievable. I kinda bought all my furniture from DirectBuy. I have a kitchen and all my pots and pans are from them as well as all my lights. All my dishes are Sophie Conran and my pots and pans, everything.     I have purchased a few items from DirectBuy in the 10+ years I have been a member. However, the ongoing $200 yearly fees, and the closing of the DirectBuy centers made it harder to find good deals. We are now debating whether or not we want to continue to pay the yearly membership fee. To date, the items we purchased were marginally less cost. Some were actually less as stores, due to the high cost of the shipping and handling fees. I have found I could get them for just a few dollars more without going through DirectBuy.

    The savings, for us, are just not there. We used to use the local merchant discounts that DirectBuy offered when they had local purchase centers; however, those discounts are no longer available. For us, I believe we have paid DirectBuy more than we saved, and we have done a lot of changes to our home. The wait for product, the minimal difference in cost, and the cost of DirectBuy yearly fees just does not quite add up for us. However, we still have not dropped our membership... yet.

    Our friends told us that DirectBuy was taking $4,000 as a membership fee so we paid that and we have been members in the last 20 years. Now, you have to pay $300 only. Everything in the house is from DirectBuy. You can pick any company you want because they have a lot of companies listed and we have bought from all of them. The quality is good and the price is very good compared to almost 70% in the market. Buying from them seven years ago was not so good but we recently purchased a washing machine and the service has improved tremendously. It was low-tech before. There were binders and you go through them. It was a little bit confusing, but now, they have online services and the people are more knowledgeable and very helpful.

    The website is working very well compared to five years back, and it is nice. However, once you go on the website, they don’t tell the prices directly. We have to call to know the price. If it directly shows on their website when we open it, it will make life easier and people will be more inclined to buy right away. The burden would be lessened as well as my headache. Still, the experience has been really good and DirectBuy has evolved in a positive way.

    We own nine rental units and our own house that we live in, and we have to buy appliances for all of the houses. So, if an appliance breaks, we have to buy a tenant an appliance. The money that we save on buying one appliance a year for a rental unit or our own house is the cost of the membership fee every year and savings so it makes sense to keep our membership with DirectBuy. Our washing machine went kaput so we just bought a new washer and dryer. We have to buy a lot of refrigerators and we’ve also bought furniture. We also got wedding gifts which was convenient and we bought flooring which we really like. We’ve been lucky that we never had any returns. We have had questions in the past but they were personable and always handled everything quickly and easily. It’s been great all around and we're happy with them. We have been with DirectBuy for 15 years and I have recommended them to people before.

    I've been a DirectBuy member since the 80s or 90s. I got attracted to the discount prices that they've had. As a member, I've bought some home furnishing and the experience has been very easy and convenient. I also like the quality of the products I've purchased. It's outstanding for the price I've paid.
