    Someone we knew recommended that we look into DirectBuy 5 or 6 years ago, and we moved forward from there. We remodel homes so we were interested in seeing if we could use them to supply things like appliances and cabinetry, and those types of things that are typically expensive. Most of the time, it’s fairly easy to find the products but it’s a little more challenging every once in a while.

    The website is where I do most of my purchasing, and it’s better than it used to be but it still could use some improvements to make it a little easier to find things. The filters could narrow down to depending on what types of items one is looking for. Searching for a light fixture, if I make it 5,000 of them, I can’t really sort through 5,000. I should be able to adjust the price to my price point and that filters some out. But in certain categories, it still leaves a lot of item. Other than that, there's no negative quality-wise in anything that we’ve bought and I’ve been very happy with every purchase we’ve made.

    Any large items such as any furniture are handled through a flawed delivery system. Expect delays and a high likelihood the item arrives damaged. I have been a member for 20 years since the days of the catalog showroom. Smaller items that ship via traditional carriers such as UPS or FEDEx usually arrive efficiently. (Such as light fixtures, decor pieces.) I have purchased many items especially in the last 5 years. The online order process is good, selection is good if you are willing to invest a lot of time in research. However, the delivery system is inefficient: expect delays and damaged items frequently.

    The customer service reps are very nice however they have little to no real leverage with the delivery department. The result is you call a person who seems sympathetic to the problem but the system is such they have no real way to fix your problem when an item is delayed or arrives damaged. It negates any price savings benefits in time spent in frustration and lack of used of the item you need for your home.

    I was doing some major upgrades at my house and I decided becoming a DirectBuy member would be a good investment. I had a break-in membership for a while. I was a member for about four years and I was gone for about five years, and then I rejoined recently. So far, everything I've ordered worked out great. I'm satisfied with the quality of products and I like getting good discount on most items. Through the website is the primary way of selecting items but their website stinks. It doesn't have good search capabilities. I ended up going to someplace else. I was hoping after I've been gone for so long that it would have come in to the 21st century but it hadn't. It's still as bad as it ever was. They really need to invest in upgrading that because I'll probably buy more if I can search easier.

    The concierge service is a big improvement over doing everything yourself, and the pricing is very good. I've been with DirectBuy for about 13 years now. A friend of mine had joined DirectBuy after they built their house. When I was building my house, he suggested it and said, “Look, if you want anything, we’ll just order it.” There was a local Buffalo office, so we wanted to check it out. It was worth it for us to invest in DirectBuy at the time because we were building our house and it was a good choice.     I have been a DB member since 2005. I had a 50.00 paper discount coupon for recruiting a DB member and was awarded a 150.00 promotional discount by Victoria on July 12, 2019 when I expressed my reluctance to renew my DB membership due to recurring issues with my last few online orders. I accepted the discount offer and in good faith renewed my membership. I wanted to apply both discounts to the above purchase so decided to order by concierge to facilitate this. Unfortunately I was denied the discounts multiple times as there was no record of them as well as a claim that the 50.00 expired after 1 yr though the coupon I had clearly did not have an expiry date on it.

    I contacted DB regarding a price difference between the couch on your website and when you sent me an email about an item sitting in my cart. The item (couch) pricing on the website was over $150 more than the price of that identical same item that was sent to me in a email. Hope that explains briefly my issue. So when I contacted DB, I was greeted by Amy. Nice enough consumer care rep but she could not explain to me why the price difference.

    Long story short, I am now waiting on your concierge dept to get back to me on an item that I wish to get pricing on. Amy also explained that the app that scans the item and send the info back to DB is not working properly. Not very surprised by that. So as of Jan 10/2020.     I’ve been a member of DirectBuy for 15 years and I like it when they have these other groups come in. They usually have connections with the people who can do the work so, that’s always a good thing. We had our kitchen done and it was very good. I need help when I'm there but some of the people are excellent. The reps were helpful and the young lady who did the cabinet was very good at suggesting alternatives.     We’ve been a DirectBuy member for about 12 years. We bought a house and we remodeled it with two brand-new bathrooms, and then, we built a house, still owning the previous house. We thought we could save a lot of money with these bathrooms. We could get high-quality materials and not pay high-quality prices. The quality of the products we've received from DirectBuy is outstanding.

    We’ve not been so pleased lately because they got rid of all their showrooms. We like to see and touch and get a better feel for things we’re doing. And now, we’re kinda stuck doing that on the internet. And I don’t think they have all the products that they offer on the internet because that would just be a Herculean task. Another thing is the manufacturers that they represent, some of them stay for the long-haul, but a lot of them, you buy one you really like, and then, you check back with them a year later, and they don’t offer that manufacturer anymore. And that can be a little frustrating.

    We recently bought a bed and a frame for another house we bought in Florida. We were told that the delivery of both of them would be four to six weeks. So, they have a tendency, which is a good practice, to under-commit and over-deliver. I think it is a good thing. But the problem is, in this case, we really expected the frame to come before the bed. The bed came before the frame, and the bed had white glove delivery. So, we really couldn’t have a delivery until the frame got there. And we kinda got a nasty letter from DirectBuy saying, “Hey, the company has been holding onto this mattress for a month, and they need to deliver it.”

    We ordered the frame a week before we ordered the bed. And it was a little frustrating because we were waiting and waiting for the frame. I could’ve bought the frame on Amazon and had it there in two days. But I decided to buy it from DirectBuy instead, which probably was a mistake. Another thing that was interesting was it was cheaper on Amazon than DirectBuy, which was kind of a rare occurrence. I give DirectBuy credit because they did credit me the difference, which was nice. I didn’t expect that.

    There's one thing that really frustrates me. When we first joined, they took American Express for the membership fee. And then, they stopped taking American Express and they only took Visa. Then, a couple years ago, they started taking American Express again, which I was thrilled with. But a couple of months ago, before we made this purchase with the mattress and the box springs, they stopped taking it, and it’s frustrating. I really like to use American Express wherever possible because we get points, and we travel a lot, and we use these points for traveling.

    I've been a member for 25+ years. Many good experiences but the recent one has been excellent. I made an error on my first order regarding white glove service and received immediate and accurate assistance on correcting it. The furniture we ordered is manufactured in Italy which concerned me a bit on the target ship date but it was spot on. I was told November 22 at the time of the order 2 months or so earlier, and that is when it shipped.

    I e-mailed a couple of times to check status and was pleased to receive almost immediate responses from Angela, at the Concierge Desk out of Indiana I believe. Received immediate follow up today as well on my inquiry. Furniture is at the local depot in Nashville and we are scheduling delivery. No report on the product itself but the has been excellent. process and support to date has been great. Angela has been excellent.

    We purchased a DirectBuy membership years ago when it cost approx $5,000 and the company claimed that they offer manufacturer direct pricing. They claimed that you'd save thousands of dollars off of prices you can get from retailers. Although we've been members for approximately 10 years, we still haven't saved as much as the membership cost. Within the past few years, DirectBuy changed its membership and offers a "savings guarantee". With this new format, you can save money if you're willing to do A LOT of work.

    First, their website has a terrible search engine that does not offer many ways to narrow your search. So you have to scroll through many pages of irrelevant products to try to find what you are looking for. Their search results also include the same item repeatedly, again causing unnecessary time scrolling through pages of extra items. It might not be a problem if you could load more items onto a page or if the website was faster so you could scroll through the irrelevant products faster.

    Second, their price is very rarely the lowest price you can find. The on top of the alleged "manufacturer's price", they add many other fees so if you don't compare prices, you'll end up paying much more than you would by doing a simple online search for the item. For example, I recently tried to purchase a mirror from DirectBuy. I searched the internet and the best price I could find was $261.80, with a 20% coupon it resulted in a price of $209.44 with free shipping and free returns. I requested the price from DirectBuy and received a quote of $183.00 (not bad), but they added a club handling fee of $16.47, freight $20.13, home delivery $120 (why do I have to pay home delivery when I'm already paying freight?), for a total price of $339.60 before tax.

    The "savings guarantee" on this item was 20%, so I should have been able to purchase it from DirectBuy for $167.55, but the savings guarantee request was denied. So I purchased it from the online retailer. In fairness, I did obtain a savings guarantee price reduction on another item that resulted in a $397.50 savings. So you can save money if you're willing to put in the work. But it is definitely not the lowest price you'll find simply by shopping with them and to actually save money, you have to decide what item you want, scour the internet for the best price you can find, look up that category in DirectBuy's savings guarantee program to determine what percentage of savings is guaranteed, then send a savings guarantee price reduction request by email and wait for a response.

    Sometimes they give the lower price, sometimes they don't. Sometimes you can find savings coupons for the online retailer that result in a better price than you would get from DirectBuy even with the savings guarantee. If that's the case and the coupon is for a limited time, you may no longer be able to get that price by the time you get a response from the DirectBuy concierge shopping team.

    Third, because they're now online only (at least in our area) and returns are not nearly as easy as most other online retailers, you'd better be very certain of your purchase before you order. Like any online retailer, you can't actually see or feel the item before you purchase it. But most online retailers now offer easy returns at no cost to the customer. For DirectBuy, you can (usually) return the item, but you have to pay the return shipping plus a restocking fee that, for the items I have either ordered or looked at, is generally 20-25%. So I wouldn't purchase anything from DirectBuy unless you're 100% certain that the colors, size, fabric, etc are what you want. That's not always easy when you're shopping online.

    Fourth, the selection is very limited. Most of the items I've found that I want are not sold by DirectBuy. So I either have to select another item to save a little or just buy what I want from the vendor I choose. If you like furniture for the masses (Ashley, Hooker, Coaster Company), there's a good chance DirectBuy will have it. But if you like more unique furniture, such as Aiden Gray or Noir, you can't get get it from DirectBuy.

    So based on my experience, is it worth saving a slight amount to spend the extra hours doing all of this? Or is it worth compromising what you want in the hope of finding something similar from a manufacturer that DirectBuy carries? For us, we decided that it's not worth either the time or compromise and will let the membership expire after the current term. Because we're in the process of redecorating a house, I'm hoping that we'll save enough on the new furniture to re-coup the money we've spend on the membership. However, with diligent online research and using online savings codes, you can usually save as much or more from other vendors with much less work and better shipping and return policies.

    It was a pleasure dealing with Crystal on this kitchen cabinet order. She was professional and helpful in guiding me through the difficult process of ordering kitchen cabinetry without a showroom to sit down with her and show samples of what I needed to decide upon. She responded to all of my questions in a timely manner and was extremely patient throughout the whole process. Even when we had a problem with the payment process, (someone at DirectBuy took my payment information over the phone and entered incorrect numbers so the payment did not go through, which was not discovered until a week later due to the Thanksgiving weekend) Crystal reassured me that it was straightened out and the order was being processed correctly. I hope to deal with her again on future projects.

    As far as the whole DirectBuy process of ordering kitchen cabinetry, it is extremely difficult and stressful to do all of this remotely, without a showroom or a person to sit down with that has samples. I have designed other kitchens in the past so I got through the process with some difficulty, but I could see how someone who's never done it before would not be willing to go through it.

The timeline that was conveyed to us seemed reasonable and so we went with the home delivery option. Over a week later we still do not have our item, we have not even been contacted by the delivery service to arrange for delivery and there was confusion with us right from the start. Obviously had I known this would happen I would have opted for pick up myself. Apologizing for the mixup and delay just doesn’t seem like an appropriate way to deal with this issue and it’s unfortunate that Direct Buy has nothing more to offer.

    About eight years ago, we completely renovated a home down to the studs and using the services of DirectBuy was quite practical especially for the kitchen. It was a cost-saving measure. The prices have gone up though and it’s not as much a bargain as it used to be but it depends on what you’re looking for, too. We bought name-brand stuff, so the quality of the products have been good. I haven’t used DirectBuy a whole lot lately, only because we haven’t needed to do a lot. Everything isn’t always shown online so, I find that having to go all the way down to the warehouse is sometimes a bit of a pain. It’s in the extreme southeast part of the city and I live in the northwest so, getting there is not practical.

    I can get some good quality stuff from DirectBuy and maybe sometimes, save some dollars. I've been using them for about 15 years now and it's for personal use. But having showrooms in Canada would definitely help. I'd probably be ordering a lot more if I could go in somewhere and look at things. That has been taken away from us. It's pretty hard to always order online. I think there should be more of the customer service. I have spoken with their rep, but it's just not the same as going in and looking at things or going in and price-checking. You really have to be reliant on the other stores.

    We ordered a Dolce Babi crib set summer, 2019. We were told to expect an August 23, 2019 delivery. My daughter started calling in October for a status but gave up in frustration.     We bought a piece of property and this was several years ago. When we were planning on building a home and DirectBuy had a showroom at that time, we went there for a presentation and we ended up joining. We've been a member for 13 years now. We got a mailbox, wood flooring, some tiles, and that kind of stuff. The quality has been good and I haven't had a problem. But I'm not crazy about their website as it isn't very easy to navigate and it takes some time. When you're looking for something in particular, it's hard to look it up that way. I normally just end up on the computer chatting with somebody to get pricing on a particular item. That's the only negative.

    Other than that, the cost is great. DirectBuy definitely beat all their other competitions. Also, their customer service is great and there's always a prompt response. I placed an order on the 20th of October. Everything went fine. I'm just waiting for the merchandise and I placed some calls this morning to get an update. So far, so good. My last order was a year before that. Now, I don't know what the membership cost is For somebody who is just needing a few things, I don't think DirectBuy is really worth it. But if you are remodeling or that type of thing, it's probably worth the membership.

    It was generally known that you could get things wholesale from DirectBuy if you were gonna do major renovations. 15 years ago, we were finishing a house, doing renovations and putting in a kitchen at the time. At the time, DirectBuy had a promotion. We went to the open house and we joined. Since then, we have continued to do renovations. We also knew we would be building a second house, which we’re doing right now, so we stayed as a member.

    The entrance price was quite high when we joined. It has come down, but for some things, they’re still not as competitive as they could be. For example, when I compare lighting online, sometimes I find things that are cheaper than DirectBuy. Also, it takes a little bit of time to get things, but I understand that it’s coming from the manufacturers. It was too bad when the warehouse closed in Coquitlam. But we are in the Okanagan now, so we can get stuff to Kelowna. Purchasing from them is fairly easy and the website is much improved. We know generally what we’re after so it’s not just random searches. Moreover, the quality of the products is excellent and has gotten better over the years.

    We just bought a house and it was in need of some help. I was talking to some friends, who were members of DirectBuy, what kind of deals we can get and we thought that was a good idea and it paid off. The quality of the items has been pretty good for 99% of the stuff. I bought an entire set of kitchen cupboards and we’ve bought electric stoves, hardwood. I just purchased another load of hardwood here last month. My wife was a magazine shopper too, toaster ovens and stuff like that.

    They had a location and it was all bright and shiny and roomy. It lasted there for a couple of years and then it went out of business for some reason. Then, they have moved in to this location now, which I just think it’s okay. And I think that’s the kind of location that they had been in before. It is better than it was, but it's still not great.     I was in the process of buying a house and I was going to need furniture, washer, and dryer. I went up to the local DirectBuy the following week and at that time, the initiation fee was $3,900. But by the time I bought a washer, dryer, a refrigerator, I basically got my money back with the savings. Also, I have got furniture, tile when I redid my floors. I haven't bought a whole lot recently because one of the reasons is that, I used to like go to the store and physically look at what I wanted. Now, they are more online where you go and you got to pull everything up and you see it. What you see on your computer is not always what you see in person. Shades of letter vary differently when you look at it in a picture than when you walk in and look.

I’ve been a member for 14 years and I’ve bought furniture, flooring tile, a bedspread, carpeting and paint through the paint company using my membership. The purchasing experience itself has been great and everything that I ordered came before the actual time that they told me I would get it. DirectBuy has added some more high-end furniture pieces on their website and that’s good because I’ve had my eye on something and every once in a while, I’d go to the website and see if maybe they added it in. One time, they did, and it was the end of October when I ordered a sofa and an ottoman to go with it. They told me I wouldn’t have it before Christmas but it came on Christmas week.     I was doing a renovation project and my contractor supplied me with his price and the availability on custom-made windows. Then, I saw an advertisement on television about DirectBuy, and so I went to their store and said, “Okay. Sell me on this. Here is what I’m planning on doing. Tell me how you could do it better.” On my original purchase, I saved $12,000 just on the windows. So, it was worth the cost to join because I saved three times. It was pretty much a no-brainer at that point. It was like free money. Also, it turned out that the windows came from the exact same manufacturer that I was quoted a much higher price.

    I have been to two of their stores. Our location is one that was originally in Kingston, Ontario and then one in Ottawa. Because we do not have a store in my hometown, I talk to representatives via email and I have never had a difficulty. I searched through the website for something that I want, I send them the SKU number and ask them about the price, availability, delivery, the charges, as well as to ask them to get back to me within 24 hours. Very easily, I have not left my desk.

    I, however, would like to see delivery being moved up a little bit, but I can understand that that can be difficult. Not every company is in the same situation where they have stockpiles of things. Sometimes the order goes in, it has to be manufactured, and then it is delivered. Overall, I have not once had a complaint of any purchase that I have gotten. You have planned for it because it is not like you go drive, get your car, and go pick it up because sometimes there is a waiting period, two to three weeks or more.     We’ve been members of DirectBuy for almost 20 years. Their products are all brand-name stuff. We've bought TVs, building materials, flooring, bathroom and vents. We've also bought all new appliances for two different houses now. Their website needs a little bit more work and not everything that they offer is available on the website so they should make sure that everything is on there. But other than that, most of what they do is very good. They also have an online agent that can also help you out, like a concierge. Moreover, the people that work at the showroom here in Ottawa are very good. I always recommend them to folks.

    DirectBuy is not a standard retailer. As opposed to dealing through them and you have to deal directly with the vendor. For the most part, DirectBuy just facilitates the transaction. A lot of times, the products go through DirectBuy first. Then they unpack it, check everything, and if there’s something wrong, they’ll send it back and get a new one. We’ve only ever had one experience where we’ve received stuff that hasn’t gone through DirectBuy. It came directly from Whirlpool and has been the only negative experience we’ve ever had with buying things through DirectBuy.

    If you have money to spend, then getting a membership is worth it, but if you’re just joining up to buy one little thing, then it’s not worth it. If you know you have a big project or you’re gonna be spending a bit of money, then joining makes sense, especially for the higher-end goods. If you’re able to wait for a big sale, you might be able to get prices that are pretty close to DirectBuy, maybe slightly better because sometimes, the vendors offer loss leaders. But generally, DirectBuy's pricing is good. We bought $14,000 worth appliances and if you went through one of the normal vendors, it probably would’ve been closer to 20 if you weren’t buying things on sale.

    It's going pretty well with DirectBuy, where we bought most of our stuff for a bathroom remodel we're doing right now. But the cabinets we ordered from them are a little bit delayed. I was given a name of a person that I needed to work with and I did contact him at the beginning of September and gave him all of my information, what we were looking for and a picture of exactly what we wanted. He responded back quickly as far as giving us dimensions for everything. By the time we went back and forth and delays, we didn't submit the order until September 24th. It was kind of surprising because we pretty much had everything wrapped up within a week from when I first emailed him, which was September 4th. So I would've expected the order be submitted much sooner. We had told him that we were planning on starting the project early to mid-October at the latest and really wanted everything in the house.

    We still haven't heard anything so I emailed him last week and asked if we could have an update on our cabinetry and I have not heard anything back. Our remodeling is actually a little delayed which is why I'm not too concerned about the cabinetry. So we got time yet. Also, it's harder to purchase from Directbuy than it used to be 'cause we used to be able to go to the location, look through books and talk to people. We did our kitchen through DirectBuy four years ago almost, and there was a woman that we sat down with, and we went through all the cabinetry and all of her recommendations and drawings. It was so much simpler because we could actually talk with somebody physically right there and go through the project.

    Now, we've done two projects since, and it has been more on us doing all the legwork of going out to different places to check things out and to do all of our searches for numbers and part numbers. But over than those, everything else was beautiful with Directbuy. There was one woman that I emailed back and forth with on our Kohler order and Delta. And she was so quick. We would email all the stuff that we were wanting to purchase and things we couldn't find on the website. She emailed us back within a day and said she would get those prices for us then she sent us a spreadsheet with everything and it was amazing.

    We have been a member since 2002 and we always recommended Directbuy on a caveat. I recommend it to a brand-new homeowner who doesn't have any insurance or people who are looking to completely refinish their house or who are at that stage where they've had everything for 20 years and are looking to refinish things, redo things, get new furniture. If you're not at either of those stages, it's usually not worth the money.

    DirectBuy was local to where I lived before, and I've been a member for years. When I first joined, I was remodeling a house so I did kitchen cabinets, counters, flooring and appliances. The designer picking out the cabinets and it worked out very well. Now, I’m doing another house and it’s not so easy because they have no designers anymore. They charge for designers. They have no place local that I can go and sit with somebody and see the product. I’m not so happy anymore, so right now I’m just buying lights and bathroom faucets. I’m not gonna buy cabinets when I’ve never seen the quality of them. And they don’t carry the brands they used to carry anymore, and I was very happy with the brands I had the first time. I think for big purchase items, it would be nice if we could have it delivered to the house, instead of having it delivered to their warehouse and then we have to get a delivery service or movers to do it.     I joined DirectBuy 11 years ago. They had the store that I could go to and look at the product and have an avenue to buy somewhat straight from the manufacturer. That has changed now. The stores aren’t available for me anymore and I can’t interact straight with the product, so that makes it a little bit more difficult. But with their new concierge system, I recently bought a water heater and the supporting equipment and they helped answer a lot of my questions. I don’t know if that could help me in all situations, but that worked at that time. Then I was a little annoyed that they dropped the system off outside the house without anybody signing for it. The start-up membership price was pretty steep when I first bought it. At that time, I was doing a lot of remodeling and I calculated that I would still save with that. I've used my DirectBuy membership for household purchases such as furniture, TVs, fridges, etc. My purchasing experience was very good. I enjoy shopping, but navigating their website is frustrating. When I do searches, I almost have to think the way DirectBuy staffs are coding it. There's no intuitiveness to the search at all and sometimes it just doesn't come up with what I require. It's one or nothing. I have to figure out the category before I could search.

    People should do their research beforehand, so they'd know what to expect. So far, I've been happy with the quality of their products. I wish there were more products, though. The other thing that's confusing is sometimes, you get the feeling that you could only order the stuff that's on the website, but when you go to the actual site, you can choose more from the catalog. So, it's not always apparent that you can do that. In the old days, we use to always go to the location, now it's more web-focused. But you can still find more if you go to the store, you have more options. When I joined, the membership fee was a lot of money, but it has come down now. It's a reasonable fee for somebody to pay.     I went to the open house that DirectBuy had and I was thinking of getting a bedroom set, and I knew exactly what the prices were. I had DirectBuy and they said, "If you want, we carry that line." It was American Drew and they gave me the price, and it was thousands of dollars less than what I could've gotten it. My membership was paid for by the difference in the price and then some. I've been a DirectBuy member for 15 years now. I've bought furniture, appliances, lightings, decor, barbeques, etc. I even outfitted my home in Florida through DirectBuy.

    Once you get used to buying through DirectBuy, the process is easy. However, their website is terrible. It doesn't load properly and it doesn't remember where you were. Most websites, when you go back and hit the back button, it'll take you to where you were before. If you're scrolling down hundreds of items it will remember you were on item 56, for example. With DirectBuy, it doesn't. It's slow and poorly classified. Sometimes when you go into lighting fixtures, they have 30 of the same lighting fixtures.

    I have recommended DirectBuy to friends, and they have joined too. With DirectBuy, you just need to really know what you're buying. Also, they should look at reevaluating their product line. They have some products that they should just get rid of them. Lastly, I ran a business and in the electronics business, as an example, the margins are low, therefore, DirectBuy's prices will not be that competitive, relative to a Best Buy when something is on clearance. But there are products that are generally higher priced where the margins are huge and therefore, DirectBuy looks really great. As an example, I bought faucets recently and DirectBuy's price was no different than Home Depot on the exact same product. I bought a piece of furniture as well that was $2,400 on Wayfair.com and was $1600 on DirectBuy. Big difference. And so, they need to be clear with people and manage people's expectations about where the savings are.

    We've been a DirectBuy member since 2010 and they’ve always had good customer service. When we started with them, we could go into their showroom and view stuff and samples, which was really great. Now, it’s all online. But if you would be ordering cupboards like I did, they sent out samples of what the colors would look like. I really enjoyed the showrooms and the catalog because I could see the different things and feel the different materials. But if you are looking for certain items, they provide you with a list of names that you can go over and all the retail stores that handle that stuff here in Canada or the States. So we can go there and check things out and see if we like it, and then just go back and order it from DirectBuy. They’re extremely helpful when you’re ordering. We got very good quality items for a very good price.

    I liked it when DirectBuy had this showroom in Winnipeg, and I could go and take a look at some things and sit with the catalogs. I tend to like catalogs much better than going on the computer. I’m almost 70 years old, so books are better than e-readers, and having someone to consult with and talk to. They also used to have a lot of samples and things that you could look at because the color on the computer screen can look quite different than what you actually get.

    We haven’t used DirectBuy as much as we intended. We bought various pieces of furniture. When I was executor in a particular case, I did use it to fix up a house that was looking after. But right now, I have three feral cats that live in the house with me, and I don't want workmen coming in and out of the house because they're not gonna watch them. Another thing is that it’s hard to work out of like a bar fridge downstairs. And it takes about eight week for delivery for a lot of things. So instead of going through DirectBuy, we just went to Home Depot and bought a fridge and had it delivered a couple of days later.

    I do like that the quality of things from DirectBuy have been good. When something has been damaged or not quite what we wanted, they’ve been very good about taking it back and replacing it, and getting things fixed. The staff has always been very good when I’ve talked to them. We continue to pay the membership. At first, we paid $5000 years ago. And then, we had to pay a smaller amount now. We’re paying around $300 a year for it. We don't always get our value every year, but when I did have to fix up the house for resale, that I was executor of, then there was more purchases that year.

    When my nephew got married, I wanted to give them a wedding gift to help them set up their home. And the guy at Winnipeg that was running the store was great. I went in and told him that my purchases were not for myself and they were gifts. He gave me a bunch of fabrics, swatches, and told me that I could take them home and let the kids look at them. And I appreciated that. I'm happy enough to continue renewing membership and I would recommend DirectBuy to people.

    I have rental properties so I need DirectBuy. I've been a member for a long time and I've purchased some furniture, Kitchen Craft kitchens, and appliances from them. Also, it used to be five grand for a membership. It's not for your casual shopper or distress shopper. If you have big purchases and you want name brands, you can just go in with the model number and get what you want. We had a Consumers Distributing in Canada where you could do the whole catalog shopping. Now DirectBuy doesn't have a showroom, so you have to know the product. But the more online that they can do, the better. The check clearing was really frustrating before. Now, you can just put in your credit card and not having to come in and pay.

Two years ago, I ordered furniture and then close to the delivery date I got an email saying that the furniture was no longer available. I had to wait another three weeks without furniture. DirectBuy should've let me know that this stuff was not available when I ordered it and not wait until into the delivery day only to say, “It’s not available” because by that time, I ordered new stuff and they come in. That’s the only downfall that I found with DirectBuy. Why haven’t you bought a membership yet?

    We got the membership in DirectBuy for doing the remodeling on our kitchen and then we held onto it because there was a little remodeling left to be done. Although our health hasn’t allowed us to do it, we’ve stayed with DirectBuy because for any year that I hadn't purchased, they’ve given me another year of membership. A few weeks ago, I found out that I could assist a friend in purchasing something under $5000. Last year, my big expense was a lampshade. This year, we actually purchased our washer and dryer and I'm hoping we’ll get a few other things purchased. In most cases, the quality of the products from DirectBuy is pretty good.

    But I liked it better when I could go into the shop and get help. That was the experience we had in the first two years, when we started. But from the last few years, it seems that the company doesn't provide the things that I have wanted to purchase. Each time I’d email and ask about something, they wouldn't have a provider for it. I bought a dishwasher and I wanted Bosch, which is substantially better in my book than the others, but DirectBuy didn't have it available. The only thing that’s really keeping me here is that we need to finish something. But I’m dragging my feet a bit and wondering because before, we had a designer that we could go in and talk to to get the kitchen done. I go online and I look at what’s being offered but most aren’t things that we’re really interested in purchasing.

    Besides the master bathroom, the only big thing left that we have to do is the backyard and the only thing to find online is furniture, which is really high-end. I’m not sure we’re really looking for something that high-end. Then as far as the other items that we would want to make a part of our backyard, there really wasn't anything on the website or if there is, I wasn’t able to find it. I even emailed customer service and asked what was available but they said there really wasn’t anybody who could help us. When DirectBuy was local though, there were some relationships with some local vendors, with whom we connected on a few things.

We were doing some remodeling so we got a lot of specific office furniture for computers and cabinetry. My preferable way to shop is to go into an appliance store and talk to a salesperson that knows about the different models and features.     I was a member of DirectBuy and I used them when I moved to a new home and needed new furniture, a new renovation, and things like that. After I lived in the house for 10 years, I didn't need them anymore and so I let it drop, but I just renewed it again this year because I moved and I needed their services again. I look online now and see if they carry what it is I'm looking for and if the prices are better, then I'll go there. Back then, it wasn't that easy. This year, I purchased a stove and a microwave and the quality of the items were very good.

    There were some things I wanted to buy and I didn't end up buying even though I knew the product could possibly be the same. For example, I wanted to buy a mattress and a frame, and I knew what I wanted and every mattress has a different name. Even if it's the exact same mattress, going to one store, it's called something, and somewhere, it's called something else. So I was quite able to match what I thought I wanted at DirectBuy for what I wanted in a retail store and it was less expensive. But I bought it in a retail store because they had a warranty that I could try the bed for 120 days and exchange it to a different one if I wanted to, whereas DirectBuy did not have that option. That is an issue with their product unless the product comes damaged.

    They offered a warranty for the stove and microwave that I bought this year, but it wasn't the world's best offer for me because when I buy something on my credit card here in Canada, I get one year extended warranty on the manufacturer's warranty. So basically, on a new product, I have a two-year warranty. And their three-year warranty was a lot of money for the one year I would have gotten.

    We liked the idea of the better pricing and cutting out the middleman with DirectBuy. So far, I've bought furniture, lamps, a fan, an overhead lighting, appliances and tile. Because I don't usually buy things that I haven’t researched, the quality of the products I've purchased is good. I like being able to look at DirectBuy online and do research on the products that I’m looking at. I also like to touch, see and handle things before I buy them. So the negative is that they closed the local place so I can’t go see things firsthand. But I’ll just go look around for things and see it in the stores.

    I’ve gotten the hang of the website but it’s not the most user-friendly. Also, if I'm looking at Hooker Furniture, there's a picture that may be on the website and if I go to the catalog, I get a much better-quality picture. But not everything in the catalog may even be available. Sometimes, in some brands, things are limited. For example, we needed a Tempur-Pedic mattress and there were just a few on closeout and that was it.

    We also needed cabinets and tile when we were doing a remodel in a condo in Florida but those were kinda limited. I didn't have anywhere to be able to see those products. So I ended up having custom cabinets built, which I’m sure I paid more for. I also ended up getting tile at a local tile place because I couldn't look at it online and figure out what I wanted. That made it a little more difficult. But I’m sure there’s a better way. If I had set up an account, I would’ve had a person to help me.

    We’ve been members of DirectBuy since 2001. We replaced the windows in the first house we bought. We also bought appliances early on. We signed up in Edmonton and the purchasing exp was really good and easy, but we live in Regina now. It has been a bit of a challenge with getting what we want here even with the delivery options. The closest they can go to is Saskatoon, which holds us back from buying something a lot of times. We don’t wanna pay for extra shipping or travel. Saskatoon’s not terribly far, but if it’s something bigger, we can’t just go get it.

    When we moved to Regina, we redid all the blinds in the house and had to arrange for a local courier to go to Saskatoon and get the blinds to us. The quality of the products has been good, whatever the brand. We could buy the same brands locally, but we got good value for what we paid for compared to what I would have paid if I have to buy the items at a local store. We renovated both our bathrooms, and we purchased the cabinet through them. Luckily, I was able to pay extra and get them shipped to my home. That option was way better, which made things easier. If we bought the cabinet locally, it would've been a lot more expensive.

    I like the idea of buying quality products for less the price. But the annual renewal fee is a bit expensive and I haven’t used DirectBuy as much as I probably should.     We are very happy with DirectBuy. It was about 15 years ago when we joined DirectBuy and we love our membership. Now that they have travel, that's a bonus. The savings from what you pay in DirectBuy versus retail is amazing. It's also way better in quality. We're able to buy high-end products at a fraction of the price that product would cost otherwise. Without DirectBuy, we wouldn't be able to have such nice things because it's going to cost so much more in the store. If you were to go and buy these products retail, they're going to cost you double, triple or more.

    In our very first purchase, we saved over $10,000. If we were to buy all of that outright in a shop, it would've cost us over $10,000 more than what we paid. So we recouped our membership fees within the first year. If you're gonna go and buy a couch for $1,500, the couch you're gonna get at the brick and mortar for $1,500 isn't going to be anywhere close to the same quality of the couch I can buy through DirectBuy, and I would only be spending like $800 or less. We've purchased everything with DirectBuy – furniture, lighting, sinks, hardware for the taps, the shower and lots of jewelry.

Our experiences with them has been good mostly. I used to like it when we originally bought in Michigan and they had a show room. But they don't have a showroom in Florida where we live now, so we had to do everything through the concierge or over the phone, which I’m not as crazy about. So, that was the only negative there.     I recently bought a sectional for over $2,000 dollars. In less than 6 months, with little use of the couch, it is starting to shed. I wrote in to tell direct buy about this issue and they gave me a few options to rectify the issue, return, exchange or keep the couch and receive a discount. I asked for a return as keeping the couch makes my space look disastrous and I couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t happen with a new couch. It’s been over a month now and I have not heard back from Direct Buy after repeated followups. This is horrible service! I’ve spent way too much money over the years and on this sectional and I am a loyal customer. After this, I will NOT be shopping here again and will be advising others to not so as well!

    Direct Buy was referred to us by a friend. When we were remodeling our kitchen, we decided to become DirectBuy members. We've also used them for the second bath remodel and now, we're using them for a master bath remodel. The quality of their products are good, but we have an issue actually with one of the cabinets that came from Norcraft. I don't believe that anyone from quality control took a look at it because it's pretty messed up. Also, the problems with the cabinet are not from the shipper but from the factory itself. It was put together incorrectly. We're waiting for the designer that was assigned to get back to us, but so far, he has not done that. It's been a couple of days, but I'm sure he's busy. I'm hoping that we can get it replaced because the structural problems aren't something that can be adjusted with a screwdriver.

    Someone at my project's area helped me identify a larger size of mirror that I needed. Ordering that was a seamless process. In ordering the cabinets, the designer was very respectful when telling us when to get our order in by so that we could receive the discount promotional that was going on. That went very smoothly. So, so far, everything has been great. Right now, I'm working with Alyssa to get the rest of the lights and the faucets. We're also going to replace the kitchen faucet because it's having some issues. She has been fabulous.

    We’ve used DirectBuy for 30 years and we’ve gotten a lot of good things at a good price. We’ve saved a lot of money with DirectBuy, too. Recently, we’re getting ready to build a whole brand-new house and I was thinking that with DirectBuy, we’re gonna be able to save a fortune. We're looking for appliances, cabinets, and flooring. But when I was looking at the Ultra Tankless Hot Water Heater, the SKU on it is RUR98eP, the total cost from DirectBuy is 1,748.85. I did a lot of research and I found that the exact same SKU component on Amazon costs $1,425 with free delivery. That’s $320 cheaper through Amazon, so looking at different things through DirectBuy vis-a-vis other places, I’m finding the same things that I can get cheaper from other stores. So I’m wondering why I keep my DirectBuy membership.

    But my membership comes up in October and I will continue until that time comes up where I have to renew the membership. If I don’t see that I’m going to get my money’s worth out of it, I probably will not re-up to stay with DirectBuy. Also, we used to have the showrooms we could go to and look through the magazines or books and compare stuff. That was a great experience. But now that they’ve gone to the online, it’s a little more difficult. I’m getting better at surfing the website though and I know there’s a concierge service that we’ve used a couple of times. However, it all comes down to price and if I can’t find what I want at a better price through DirectBuy, I don't want the membership. We’re also looking at a component from Moen which is new to the market. It’s called the Smart Home Protection Moen and DirectBuy carries Moen faucets and steam showers, but I cannot find this particular item available on DirectBuy.

But DirectBuy is rapidly losing ground to like Amazon Prime Day. I'm not convinced that I would re-up my membership.     We had bought a condo in Florida, so we needed to furnish it. We thought going to DirectBuy would be a good start. I have mostly purchased furniture and appliances, and it was a very positive experience. I've done the Christmas shopping, too. The website is not so much easy to navigate, but I find the concierge shoppers very helpful. Both ladies I worked with in the most recent purchase were very helpful, over and above, so it was great. I, however, miss having an outlet to go to to look at samples, but it is what it is. I wish there was another place to go to research what you’re buying, like another store. But I don’t see that happening.

    One of the times that I was really disappointed in DirectBuy was when I was trying to place an order for a huge clock, and the shipping was almost more than the clock was. I ended up purchasing the same clock from Wayfair for less money. They need to be careful of things like that. I found that if I’m gonna save money in DirectBuy, it’s on furniture and not so much on appliances. I can do just as well from a couple of other sources, whether it would be Lowe’s or Canadian Appliance Source here in Canada. But with furniture, I find the value is good for the dollar in DirectBuy.

    Over the years, we purchased furniture, some appliances, and floor items like carpet and area rugs from DirectBuy. But we don't have a showroom that is close to me right now, and we also don't have a warehouse in our location where I’m living for delivery. So, the closest drop-off site is about two hours away. It makes it quite difficult for me to actually use it reasonably because then, I’d have to pay for shipping or for somebody to go pick it up.     I have been a member for about 18 months now. Their prices are comparable to other online retailers and definitely less than retail stores. But they have numerous logistical problems. I purchased Emtek Door handles and did not receive them for over 4 months. After getting them numerous handles were incorrect and had to be sent back for the correct item. I purchased some club chairs and week later was informed the chairs were longer available from the vendor (I was able to buy the same chairs after form a different retailer). I also purchased some dining room chairs and again was told the chairs were no longer available from the vendor (this time at least it with 3 days after placing the order). I purchased some Kohler toilets and that is the only order that has gone well to date.

The only thing I bought was a $50 electric grass trimmer that I soon replaced because the extension cord was a huge hassle. I bought another rechargeable one elsewhere for about the same cost. We wasted a lot of time trying to find stuff to buy and save money, but it was never a known brand or comparable to what we could find elsewhere for the same or less. I'd give 0 stars if I could. You would be much better off to join Costco or Sam's Club.

    So I just compared this to my Wayfair.ca account. This exact model is available for about $50 more but will be here next week not 6 weeks and is 100% return policy. No 20% restocking fee. And I found it in minutes not days. I am already regretting renewing with Direct Buy. The competition is tight and you need to do better for your long time members. The old model isn’t working anymore.

    Here’s their information. Plus they offer 4 other 36 inch Kohler sinks with single basin and many others.     We were a DirectBuy member 15 years ago, and this was back when they had physical locations in each of the cities that they were in. They had a large location, and they had two of them in San Diego. They had a warehouse, and they had a large display area of kitchens, bathrooms, carpeting, doors, windows, and all of the different manufacturers that they represent. At that point in time, we had two different properties, and we were doing a lot of fix-up stuff, so I was buying a lot of stuff from DirectBuy back in the day. I was kind of a do-it-yourself guy, and I was able to buy really high-end appliances and other building materials at a pretty good price at DirectBuy. It was better than I could get anywhere else. But we dropped out when DirectBuy had some of its issues. Also, we were downsizing to a condominium, and we weren’t buying anything anymore, so we suspended our membership.

    Two years ago, they came out with a thing where you could reactivate your membership for 100 bucks. So we reactivated our membership, and in the last 24 months, I’ve already spent $20,000 with them because we’re redoing the condominium we own now. We redid our kitchen, so we bought some appliances from them. Right now, we’re redoing our bathroom, and we got really high-end Kohler products. So, it’s gonna be about $12,000 just for the vanity and the mirrors and the sinks. We also bought a shower pan and the glass doors. I’ve been able to buy the higher end stuff because of the discount. It’s been a good experience for us so far.

    The only thing is that the DirectBuy Travel product that they’ve been promoting is a disaster. It is not represented correctly. I signed up for that, and our experience with DirectBuy Travel was the reason we let our membership be suspended a few years ago. It might be okay for some members, but the company they have signed up with them is not doing them any good.

    There are good prices I could get from the providers and rebate so I became a member of DirectBuy. I've purchased from them for renovation, mostly, and some furniture, ceramic, and appliances. Purchasing has been very good. Investment of time is extra compared to just walking in a store, but it's worth it when you work for your money. Their website doesn’t have all their suppliers but at least I can do a first quick scan of products on the web. Also, the products have been excellent. If my saving is not sufficient, then I feel it's not initially worth it. Like for a warranty, for example, I can't go back to DirectBuy. I always have to deal with the company. So it's the same price if I would go to a store but for the extra saving, it's worth it.

    Over 10 years ago when I was married, my husband and I made some not very great choices on things like buying a timeshare and DirectBuy was one of them. But I'm using it now so it finally paid off. I'm really disappointed that there's no longer a showroom though. There was a showroom in Redwood City but they closed that showroom. So apparently, the only showroom now is in Texas. But I made the purchase online and the experience was very nice. Pamela was the project person for the kitchen and she was wonderful. I'm flipping my kitchen and the main reason we purchased was to save money on remodeling things.

    But the kitchen cabinets are a week late and it's kinda costing me money because my contractor can't do any work while we're waiting for that. I'm also leaving on vacation in a week and my kitchen should have been done by now. So I'm not real happy with that. I also ordered a wall convection oven and that has already been delivered. Previously, I also bought a piece of furniture for the bathroom, which ended up being kind of a closet in a different bathroom. It was valued at $1,500 but we got it for like $700 and it's pretty good quality. I'm hoping the kitchen cabinets are the same good quality.

    If I could leave "0" stars I would. I did a TON of research before I bit the bullet and paid their VERY high membership fee. After spending close to $20,000, I ended up receiving several e-mails from different people letting me know that this item or that item was no longer available and to make a different selection. I did, and 2 weeks later found out that item wasn’t available either. For other items, I was given a replacement option that was not even close to the same item. Several items that actually were available, were not in stock, so their estimated delivery was 3-4 months out.

    I placed my full order on May 21st (bedroom sets, dining table and chairs, sofas and chairs, tables, washer and dryer, dressers, bunk beds, mattresses, etc). Today, June 19th the only item I have received is the Washer and Dryer and no one has even contacted me to schedule delivery for any other item. I spoke with Drew from the escalations department. I wanted to cancel my remaining items that haven’t shipped, and get my membership refunded. She was completely unwilling to help or understand. She just kept saying "you're past your 30 days to cancel, and there is no one else you can talk to about it." Even though, I was not even notified until after 30 days that the items weren't available or they were delayed. She even said they couldn’t tell which items had shipped, and every manufacturer would have to be contacted separately.

    The worst part, I even asked the sales rep before I purchased my membership, if it would be possible to coordinate the delivery for all the items, and he said "he was sure they could, just use the concierge service". This was a LIE! I can't even get furniture items before 3 months, or items fulfilled that aren't discontinued. At this point, coordinated delivery was the least of my concerns, but that was flat out a lie. The sales guys will tell you anything to get you to buy. I even asked Drew in the escalations department; “would you really prefer I leave my negative experience on the review websites as opposed to just refunding the membership fee?” She said “I hope you wouldn’t do that, but you are past the 30 days so we will not be refunding your fee.”

    Don't fall victim like me. If you are looking to furnish a house, go to a local furniture store, pay a little extra, make a deal with them and get your house furnished in a timely manner. You will save yourself SOOOOOO much hassle, disappointment, stress, etc. Direct Buy savings is not worth your mental health through the process!

    Over the years, I've had an absolutely fantastic experience with DirectBuy. We’ve been very happy we bought the membership because we knew we were going to use it and we have used it intermittently. We let it go for a while because we weren’t using it. But due to a change of circumstances, we knew we were gonna be moving and possibly needing to use that membership again. We did a short-term two-year renewal and we purchased a whole bunch of stuff. They're excellent.

    The process is much better now in the time that we renewed for the two-year term. Previously, you had to go down to the showroom and do a lot of legwork picking out books, measuring, and that kind of stuff. The online ordering is way more convenient and easier now. Everything that we ordered in this last purchase, we did online.

    I recommend DirectBuy because as long as you use it correctly, it does save a whole lot of money. We have been customers for 20 plus years and I have no trouble with the quality of what I've purchased. We’ve got furniture from DirectBuy 2 or 3 times. We completely redid a kitchen too. Last time, we did something with the bathroom. We also bought carpets and we’ve done all kinds of stuff.

    Purchasing used to be a whole lot easier than it is now. I really don’t care for the fact that they got rid of the showrooms because I found that the selection went down. The selection used to be better because you could actually get in. If you didn’t like what you wanted, you could see something else. Tying to find how to get all the options is harder to do. A lot of the companies have extended selections that all you have to do is order them and order it through DirectBuy. You get it, but it doesn’t say that. I found that out by just ordering something.

    It was a whole lot better when there was a person I could work with. Sometimes, working with people on the phone and on the computer is not the easiest thing in the world. I also found that the computer shopping used to be a little better than it is now, too. The number of local installers virtually dried up too. We couldn’t find anybody to do what we needed and we used to be able to all the time.

    I've been totally satisfied with everything I've ever bought from DirectBuy for the simple reason I know I'd pay a lot more going through the stores. There was never a time that I've been dissatisfied. I've been with them since 1995 and back then, I bought my membership for 1,500. And we were able to pay for it monthly and use it right away. And I was paying $75 a month, which was affordable and cheap. But they don't do that anymore. Now, it's 3,000 or $4,000 to get that membership. Being a DirectBuy member saves me tons of money. The latest thing I bought were some beds. Those same beds in the store were like 300 some dollars or 400. And with DirectBuy, I got two beds for $150. It was real wood. So, I'm always satisfied with it. I also bought kitchen stuff, stuff for the house, and bedspreads. I wanna redo my closet, and that's what I'm gonna do next.

    My purchasing experience with DirectBuy has been easy. I like the concierge-type thing. There were some products that I really want that they're limited on. And I wish they had those products. You could tell they're gonna go hot and then when you call it on, they discontinue it. But they always got good replacements. Still, you fall in love with a beautiful piece of furniture or whatever it may be and you call, and they'd be like, "Oh, we discontinued it." But now, they got concierge and the item I want may not be in the catalog to be sold, but they'll track down who sells it. The quality is A1. It's anything you wanna get. I used to go the showroom and go through the books. If I want a Whirlpool, I'm going in and get Whirlpool. It's whatever you want. I am definitely recommending a friend to DirectBuy.

    I re-signed up with DirectBuy ‘cause I'm redoing my bathroom. Back in 2010 when I first became a member, I was remodeling my house and it sounded like a good idea if I could save a dollar here or there by buying direct. So, I attended a little seminar and was hooked from that point on. Purchasing from DirectBuy is great considering that I can't go into a physical store and touch the item which I used to be able to do years ago. Here in the greater Phoenix area, there's only one store available and they have a very sparse selection of stuff, but there are people that are more than happy to help you.

    DirectBuy had stores and some stores had more plumbing than the other store or this or that or they tell could you, “They sell those furniture at this furniture place. Go look at it and then come back.” I kinda missed that ‘cause I kinda like being able to kick the tires before I buy something. This time around, I bought everything on the internet. I used the concierge once, and both the internet and the concierge were very easy, user-friendly and very helpful. The concierge was great. There were two separate ladies that helped me. They were extremely helpful and went out of their way. I've been very pleased and it's a nice option to be able to have that available once.

    The items are all high quality and that’s kind of what I'm looking for. If we're gonna spend the money, I want something that’s gonna last and I haven't been disappointed yet. Also, I received my shipment earlier than expected on one thing. I'm waiting for the tub that's supposed to be coming in from Georgia. It's still within the time period when it said it should be shipping out but my bathroom remodel is going a little faster than I had anticipated. But at least on my plumbing, everything else that I had ordered has already come in so that’s great.

    Before, the merchandise needs to be delivered to the store. They would check it to make sure that it wasn’t damaged then they would call you to come pick it up. But now, it comes directly to you. So, I was a little nervous ‘cause I gotta check everything just to make sure it's not damaged. I ordered plumbing fixtures and stuff and the delivery person was gone before I even realized that the plumbing stuff was out at the front. They rang the doorbell and by the time I got out there, they were gone. But there wasn’t an issue and everything was well-packed.

    We just joined DirectBuy in January and everything, including the quality of the products, is great. I’ve been going to concierge and they’ve been awesome. I had Jan help me, and that helps. They’ve been very helpful. It just takes a while to get our products especially if they're in the States. I ordered a sectional beginning of May and I’m still waiting. They said that the estimated delivery date would be June 6 but I haven't heard anything. I knew that when I ordered ‘cause they tell you an estimated delivery date. However, I also ordered a fridge and they kept changing the delivery date with that too. That’s the only issue I have with DirectBuy. If you were building a house, you'd have to preorder everything for sure. You have to give it lots of time because you’re not gonna get it within a week or two.

    As a DirectBuy member, I like the convenience of being able to order online, have stuff shipped to a warehouse and pick it up. Also, while I have to compare shop a bit, their prices are usually pretty good. Thus far, I've purchased dining furniture, living room furniture, light fixtures and garage stuff from them. I've also bought appliances there. As for the quality, if I go for higher-end stuff, I'm almost well-assured that it will be okay. Even when it hasn’t been such as when there are nuts or bolts missing, if I've gotten in touch with the manufacturer or DirectBuy, those have been shipped right away. Overall, DirectBuy is a great way to shop because I can look at everything online. I don't have to go and drive around and go store to store.     A friend of mine opened a DirectBuy franchise when we were younger. One time, he needed to have a house built so we built it together. I got exposed to DirectBuy and I found it really cool. I've been a member ever since. Every time I need to build a house, I end up calling DirectBuy and spending a ton of money. Thus far, the quality of their products has been fine.

    However, we bring in things in quantity and before, that has never been a problem because we always go into a local warehouse and then I could pick up the items with my own car. That stopped about a year ago and now, I must use this local shipping company. As a result, we've had so much stock delivered damaged. Also, it costs more money because I have no option to use my own pickup. Instead, I have to use home delivery which is a couple of hundred dollars. Last week, I bought another five or ten levelers. We’re always buying stuff so there are always shipments coming in. The heavy furniture comes in damaged but not in a good way. It’s at the point where we just can’t take the damage.

    Still, DirectBuy's act of closing the showrooms and replacing them with a concierge service has been a very positive thing. I’m buying more with the showrooms closed because now I have somebody who looks out for my best interest. I just call up my concierge, Rick, and tell him I need something. We search and the item gets back to me. This is better than going to the showroom where there are 1,500 manufacturer's books and I have to sit there for five hours trying to figure it all out.

    DirectBuy is not for everybody and people considering it should know what they're getting into. It's not Amazon or Macy's but if you know what you want and what you're doing, you can save a ton. Also, the shopping experience and their website has been getting better and better. It will probably bring in a broader band of true retail people eventually. But until the website is meticulous, DirectBuy is always gonna have a bunch of people who just don’t get it because they’re used to a more complex website where you buy and everything’s available. People don't have the patience to do a click-through. Still, in the last three years, I've probably spent $250,000 on DirectBuy. I look around my house and there's nothing that I can see that didn't come from there.

    We had just bought this house and wanted to do some remodeling projects. We figured we could probably get more bang for our buck using DirectBuy. Back then they had the showrooms, and you go in and sit down with a designer in the showroom and get the cabinets designed and laid out. We’ve done the kitchen, partially done the downstairs bathroom, and I just recently redid the upstairs master bedroom and bathroom, all through DirectBuy. Because I was using a designer, she did all the finding of the products. We looked at stuff over together on the website, and decided what line we liked as far as faucets, etc, and then just decided what pieces we needed. It was pretty straightforward. Now, the website is much better. They needed the showrooms back then ‘cause their website was so bad. It would take you forever to find anything.

    The products are great. The hardest thing is finding a good contractor to do the work. The first project we did was the kitchen, and the fellow that we had do it did an outstanding job. Unfortunately, he was not available to come and do the most recent one which is the upstairs bathroom. We had to put it out for a bid and find somebody. I did get in touch with DirectBuy, and they hooked me up with the designer who helped me lay everything out and hooked me up with the cabinet designer who we worked with by email and over the phone. He did a good job and not ever actually coming up here and seeing the project.

    I have recommended to a lot of people, especially when they bought a new home or they were building a home, that they should connect with DirectBuy. It’s well worth the price of the initial membership. After we started on this house, we also bought a home out in New Mexico in Las Cruces. It was a brand-new home so all we needed was furniture. So, I bought a lot of the furniture through DirectBuy and that was a pretty good experience. They still have the showroom in El Paso and someone there helped us go through the books and find what we were looking for, and it worked out really pretty well. However, you can’t go into the showroom anymore and ordering is tricky. It turned out we did run into a problem where the designer ordered the wrong size for the shower door. Now I’m sitting with a brand-new shower door in my garage that I can’t use.

    We were doing a renovation, and we found DirectBuy and became members. That was nine years ago and we paid $9,000 in those days. We bought electrical lighting like chandeliers, and we were very happy with those. And we bought a lot of luggage like suitcases, Samsonite, and we were very happy with them as well. We also bought carpets, and that was also very good. So, we had very good experience with DirectBuy.

    When they had a showroom, I used to enjoy going there. But since they have a smaller area, I haven’t been there at all. So, if I had a bigger showcase, then I would go there and sit around, and order a few things here and there. But now, I feel that I only have online to buy on internet, and so that is restrictive. So, I’m not buying much stuff. Still, whatever I did buy were really good. But we bought a bench, and it was broken. So, then, we had to wait another few weeks for it to be delivered back. I think things should not be broken when we go there to see the delivery. I like DirectBuy overall.

    We’ve always had a DirectBuy account many years ago and then we decided to renew our membership. We did cabinets, we got a discount with our granite, our bathroom cabinets using our membership. The purchasing experience has been pretty good recently. It’s different than what it was before. When we ordered our cabinets last time, it took them two times to get it right and we ended up having all these extra cabinets. Then we ordered a sofa. When the sofa arrived, it had a slit in it but it was not at all DirectBuy's fault. However, we like the quality because it’s different than going to a Home Depot and just getting what they offer. I also like their customer service. When we booked a trip, and I was planning on doing it, a lady called a courtesy call to remind me to prep my boarding pass and get everything done. Purchasing is pretty straightforward. Once you’ve done it, it’s not difficult. The people in the showroom in the place where we are are all very nice and very helpful. Things are laid out easily so you can find them.

    I've been a DirectBuy member for over 20 years. I was a member when they first started and that thing was down in Delaware. But the renewal price sometimes gets a little ridiculous. They dropped it to $69 but now, it's going back up again. When I got in, I spent almost $3,000 to join this thing. To buy for that type of price and the discounts you get are good. But they constantly make money off the purchase that I buy all through the time I shop and yet, my membership fee is so high, for being in as long as I was. They've sent me another referral to join but I didn't even look at it because I haven't been buying as much stuff lately.

    Most of the stuff I've purchased and done are furniture and home repairs. But I didn't get some of the stuff from DirectBuy because they were taking too long to give it to me. The shipment costs get you as well. When I was living in Delaware, I was beating the taxes but the shipment cost was really high. This year, I bought furniture and my bed. I like to buy my stuff early when I see sales and I mostly get furniture stuff from them because my supplies and tile would be more beneficial for me because I'm local, considering the weight. The one bad experience I had was when I ordered one of those recliner beds and I got the wrong bed.

    I never had a problem with the people in the concierge though. I like the internet when purchasing but sometimes, it's best to go there. They can work it better. When we try to compare prices and look at different items, that has still been a little difficult. You gotta have some of the numbers to actually identify the stuff but sometimes, they know the names so I usually have better deal going through them. Back when DirectBuy first started, this is what I used to love about them. They used to have sample stuff that they will buy to show you and then they will let you buy that stuff sometimes. But now, there's no warehouse to go to. I used to come pick the stuff up myself. Now, you can't even go do that. They have to ship it to a place.

    I also don't like the different type of people that took over on it but I don't get any consideration for that. They also have this travel thing involved now and we had a little misunderstanding when I first joined. The rep was telling me one thing and we had a few differences of opinion. We were at the airport and they couldn't match the stuff. We cancelled it and I had a problem getting my money back for a little while. But overall, I like the program. Despite the little personal things or issues I had, it's still a gem overall because it was revolutionized from what I've seen. I have some misunderstandings but most of the stuff were adjusted or corrected as well. There were a few things I didn't like. But there are some perks about keeping things exclusive too. I've been satisfied with all my furnitures and purchases from them.

    We signed up with DirectBuy a number of years ago. They have lower price than what you can get from the general market. We've used them for bigger purchases like new bedroom suite and appliances. It's pretty easy to purchase from them. You can just go online, find what you want, and order it. And usually it's done with minimum interaction with any sales people. But DirectBuy doesn't give you much information on what warranties they offer.

    After ordering appliances, they send an email saying what warranties they offer and the prices, and then it adds to the process a little bit. It would be nice to have some information offhand on the warranty itself. They could provide more information on that on their website. The last purchase we made with them was two weeks ago. We had some issues with that and we've had to use the warranty already. They responded quickly and it is being fixed. We've been pretty happy with DirectBuy. Initially, the sign up was pretty expensive, but to keep the membership going is fine. It's not expensive.

    I’ve had a membership with DirectBuy for more than 10. I order over the phone. There used to be a store here but there isn’t one anymore. We bought a lot from them such as living room furniture, dining room furniture, kitchen, and jewelry. It’s a good buy and everything has been fantastic other than my dishwasher and my stove.     I've been with DirectBuy for probably 15 years or more and have purchased furniture, carpets, cupboards, and doorknobs from them. I've had a good experience buying the products but finding them was hard. I had to do my research ahead of time and price things out. Still, their website was easy to navigate. Also, we had one issue with a staff member at one point. We didn't like the way we were treated. The person there wasn't very helpful and kinda snooty. My husband called and talked to the manager who dealt with the problem right away. The person we had an issue with called me back and apologized saying that she had personal stuff going on and she had let it run into her work. So, it was good.     We've been DirectBuy members for about 10 years now. We got the membership as we were then doing a major renovation.     When we first bought our house, DirectBuy was the advertisement with the new home buyer's package. We were looking at furnishing our house with blinds and new furniture. So, we went with them. We liked the idea of being able to get high quality furniture and products from the manufacturer at manufacturer's price versus going to a retail outlet. We outfitted our patio, the patio furniture and barbecue, and made our little oasis outdoors. We also used DirectBuy to get our wooden blinds, which ended up being a lot better pricing than we could get at the local discount blinds stores. We’ve purchased all main brands and products that are available at retail stores and we knew what the quality looked like because we went and looked at what we wanted and we compared with DirectBuy if they carried that manufacturer.

    When purchasing a new home and you wanna outfit it correctly, DirectBuy is a good option. If you’re a do-it-yourself person, you wanna do counter tops at a little cheaper price, then DirectBuy is the way to go. However, if you’re not all that handy, a do-it-yourselfer, then you may wanna look at going with a reputable company in your area. The experience with DirectBuy has been pleasurable. Working with them has helped via the people that run the local DirectBuy outlets here in Ottawa. When we did our blinds, which we have two picture windows, they were able to get the measurements done correctly.

    I got an invitation from DirectBuy in the mail. And there was a store close to where I lived, and I went to the store. I went to the presentation, and then decided to join. I wanted to be able to save money on everything - home improvement, exercise equipment, outdoor furniture, indoor furniture. There are unlimited departments to choose from.

    My husband and I had moved into a very older home we had purchased, and it needed a lot of work. We had a DirectBuy store in our area that we could go to and and design our kitchen. When we joined, they told us that we shouldn't join DirectBuy to get cheap furniture because they didn't carry anything but high-end things. We had a complete kitchen remodel that was absolutely beautiful. The cabinetry was amazing and the things we purchased from DirectBuy was high-end and had very great quality.

    I’ve been a DirectBuy member for many years and their memberships are pretty expensive. At one time, they had an offer where family members could join for half the membership price. My brother joined through us. And his kitchen is phenomenal. But back then, you could go to the store and work with a designer. We used to go to the store and go through catalogs or they had kitchens and rooms set up to look at. Now, I don’t even know if there are any stores open anymore. Everything is done online. But the ordering process was very convenient. The person who helped me was extremely helpful, very informative, and very pleasant to work with.

    I’m a serial renovator so DirectBuy seemed like it would pay off eventually. It was just disappointing that when I joined 10 years ago, it was like $5,000 to join but apparently, my friends have joined and it’s like $150 to join. But I've purchased everything from outdoor furniture to appliances, flooring, faucets and sinks, and the purchasing experience has gotten much better. The customer service people are pretty good at following up. It's not as hard as it was 10 years ago. The website is also better than it was but it can be really difficult sometimes. When you put an item number in, it can’t find it but if you search that exact same item a different way, it pops up. So it’s a little inconsistent. But DirectBuy is a good deal and that’s why I joined. And because I only order brands that I’m familiar with, everything has been fine as well in terms of quality.

    I bought a washing machine April 27th and the estimated delivery date to my warehouse was May 7. Unfortunately May 7 came and went with no delivery. I contacted the warehouse May 8 and they had no paper work to confirm delivery. On May 13 I reached out to Direct Buy consumer support. McKenna responded and kept me up to date with the information as it was available to her. Even though it was a long wait (May 22) before I got my much needed machine I felt that somebody cared and was truly working on it! As a family of 8 we really needed our washing machine! Perhaps for the future, leaving the 2-4 week delivery window is better than giving an estimated delivery date, even if just for my mental health!! Oh yes, I'm still happy that I saved over $400 on my machine too!

    DirectBuy may be a bit steep for some, but it’s a good place to shop. I've been with them for around 11 years now and I've purchased tiles, beds, furniture, kitchen stuff and all kinds of little things from them. The only issue I have is keeping up with the changing companies and the product lines that they sell. Their website is okay, but it could have a little bit more in the description side of the actual product. And when you're searching through and then you go back, if it would just take you back to where you were instead of taking you back to way before where you were, that would be fine. Other than that, they're pretty good and the quality of the products has been excellent.

    When I got the DirectBuy membership, I was really sick. We had to pay for our membership this year, and I asked to pay two times, and they said no. So, it was time to pay and I called so they could take the money out of my card. I said, “It’s too bad you guys don’t give your clients months to pay for it.” They said, “You could have paid two times. You have DirectBuy, but you also have Travel Direct.” I eventually asked my husband and he said nobody told us about it. I got a hold of the travel department, they gave me all the information and I got hooked up.

    I ended up getting a call from one of the girls for them to upsell the travel department. I wanted to see if they have the hotels, and from there she said, “I’ll pass you to the person that should be able to help you.” That guy was not that great. The girl was awesome and she fully explained everything, allowing me to write it down. The guy took all of my information, went in the system and all of a sudden said, “You should be calling Ruby.” I called Ruby and she wasn’t there, so I ended up calling again because he had transferred me.

    I talked to another lady and I couldn't believe the stuff that she said to me. She said, “You guys in Canada don’t have a program. I have no idea what you have. I can only talk to you about the new program". I had heard that they’re a timeshare company plus discounts on hotels, cars, car rentals and the flights. I asked if that is not the case, and she wouldn’t give me a straight answer. After I had that conversation, I said I would not be buying it anymore. I would not recommend their travel department.

    We bought all our appliances from DirectBuy and they’re awesome. Cindy’s an awesome lady. One time I called her and said, “I wanna buy a nice sturdy mattress". She suggested a company that I ended up buying from. Whenever we've needed something, we could give her a call and she would find the stuff for us. More information would have been good, though. They should spend 15 minutes more and just go through things a little bit more. She showed us how to go on the system and how to find the books, and though the books are great, they also overwhelm people ‘cause they don’t know what they’re looking for. I wish we had gotten the program a lot earlier.

    My DB "concierge shopping agent", Angela **, was very helpful and saved the day, she gets a 5 star rating. Dealing with DB in general, more of a 2 star. The website is clunky and slow. Trying to buy carpet online, with no "brick and mortar" store to go see/touch/feel. It is ridiculous. The method of emailing an inquiry, waiting for response for hours or a couple days to learn cost or availability, waiting a week or more for samples, finding the color isn't as expected compared with online, so requesting more samples or prices and waiting another week or so... is an insane process to try to choose a carpet/color/texture and make a decision.

    Angela was helpful as could be, but she cannot hurry along a backwards poorly designed system. I was determined to make it work, and after LOTS of time and effort and running around trying to compare, I think I saved some $. Was it worth it? Jury is out... Will I renew my DB membership? Probably not...

    A friend of ours had referred me to DirectBuy. At the time that we were building a show home, we knew we were gonna have to furnish it. I like anything wholesale and quality things. That's what you can get at DirectBuy. I like saving money and I've been their member for I'd say 15 years. The thing I like the best are the blinds. That seems to be the best buy. They are really good quality. I have done my house and my office. I purchased blinds for both my kids when they needed window coverings redone. I've done five.

    I either go online or into DirectBuy when I purchase. I like looking through the catalogs. If I'm buying something in particular, online is great. But if I have any questions, I find it better to go into DirectBuy and get my questions answered before I order because the order is mine. We could refuse it at the warehouse but I never have. I have seen other pieces of furniture that have been refused though.

    Most of the time, my purchasing experience is excellent. There are a couple of times that it isn't but I have kinda grown accustomed to it. For one, there is a long wait line to order. It just when you wanna order, you wanna order. But that was a couple of years ago. That hasn't been since. Another issue is the follow-up sometimes. There were little issues but all have been resolved. I would definitely tell family and friends that DirectBuy is valued membership. But there is one thing I'm not happy with. When we originally signed up, we were told that our membership renewal would be a $100 a year. It has been a long way from that now. Otherwise, DirectBuy is a necessary feature in my life.

    I started with DirectBuy in 2006 and I like it when they still had showrooms. I could go down and talk to the people that help me. We've bought some Bassett living room furniture which was our biggest purchase, dining room furniture, clocks and various stuff for the house. I also got baby furniture for my son. I like the Bassett Furniture and I also bought a warranty on it. One time my husband was getting something off the top of our fireplace and used the bench for our dining room like a stepladder. He then fell off it and damaged it. I've made a claim for that bench but was denied based on wear and tear when it was clear that it was an accident. I worked for an insurance company doing litigation and I told them they can't deny the claim. I ended up reading on the internet and finding lots of complaints about its Montage warranty. I also made a Department of Insurance complaint about them and they ended up turning around and paying on it.

    DirectBuy has been doing okay with the concierge stuff as well. I was thinking of getting another chair and I can’t do it as they don't carry the Basset stuff anymore. I looked on the site to see but I don't find a ton there as far as better pricing and if I compare it to what I find on the outside. The furniture obviously looks good 'cause I could go to the retail place and see how much they were charging me in comparison. Now, I have to look on internet stuff. I don't know much about what brands they're carrying. I've mentioned it to other people and I don't seem to find anybody that are really interested because they can't really see or touch things. I had to drive from Tennessee to Alabama to pick up the furniture at their showroom because they don't have a showroom here anymore and they did not have a warehouse. I also had to rent a truck then, whereas now, they deliver.

    I also had to choose the legs, the arms, the back, the material, the staining. It was a huge amount of detailed stuff that one wouldn't normally have to go through if going to a retail store and pick stuff out. I had to scan all the model numbers then make sure to triple check that the numbers matched what I picked out before it could be ordered. This took a huge amount of work and I feel like I worked for it. But the furniture has been of good quality 'cause there's a lot of high markup on it. Knowing some of the brands, we’re keeping the membership and would pay upfront for another three years.

    When we bought the house, we got all our appliances from DirectBuy. We knew if we were gonna do renovations to the house and for certain things, DirectBuy was gonna allow us to save some money. If you're gonna buy furniture, it is definitely better to go through DirectBuy. For example, we bought dining chairs for our dining room. In retail, they were 700 apiece, but we got them for 260 each through DirectBuy. I'd recommend them. If you're looking to make larger purchases for your home, a DirectBuy membership is an excellent thing to have. It's a good service, and I plan to stay with them.

    I bought into DirectBuy when they had a franchise-type thing before they reorganized. Since then, they’ve closed the store that I liked to go into and I deal directly online. I'm not excited about that, but I price shop most of the time. I can get what I need locally or from a different place cheaper than DirectBuy once in a while. Recently, I’ve been able to pick up a couple of things that DirectBuy had but at a better price. A while back, we bought a refrigerator and it appeared to have been dropped and bent in different areas, but we didn’t know about it until we've had it for a while. The delivery company installed it and didn’t say there was any damage. The refrigerator malfunctioned and we had to pay some money to get the icemaker working. Still, the DirectBuy reps have been great.

    We purchased an unfinished house, and we were going to need all kinds for it. We checked out the potential of DirectBuy, and we took the plunge and got a membership. We spent gobs of money there. We did online purchases a couple of times, but I'm at the store most of the time. I prefer the store and talking to a real person. Everything was great, except the microwave. It is a 24-inch microwave and fan unit and it is a little clunkier than I was hoping for. The picture described it, and I was expecting something a little more finesse. But the quality that we got from anything we get at DirectBuy is great. We got about $25,000 worth of cabinets, and $15,000 worth of plumbing that was through DirectBuy with a local supplier. We spent about $70,000 through DirectBuy.

    I just purchased an 18-inch dishwasher and it came in a couple of days ago. I saw one of the promos of DirectBuy, and there was a price that was reduced from what I paid. I know in some companies, if you get a promo like that, they would honor the change or price. I checked my order status, and my bank account, and more than the amount difference in price was reimbursed to me. And they’ve done that a couple of times. They also did that with our kitchen cupboards that didn't cost quite as much as they thought it would, and we got a credit back to our account. Those are pleasant surprises that don't happen very often. And that motivates me the next time I need a purchase, to go with DirectBuy because I know that I’m giving an honest evaluation of whatever the product is.

    I was a member of DirectBuy for over 25 years and I bought light fixtures, flooring, a bed, furniture, tiles, hardwood and just about everything. I’ve done a renovation twice now and after I was done with the second one, I didn’t renew because I didn’t need anything anymore. They kept sending me offers and finally, a $99 offer to renew for a year got me back in. I got an oval table delivered and the top ended up being mashed on one end. Someone must have dropped it on that end. So, I called DirectBuy and they were good about it. It was more the manufacturer who was hesitant to replace the tabletop but finally, they agreed to do that, and I just got it delivered today.

    DirectBuy carries a lot of high-quality items so, I’m pleased with that. They have a big selection and I can get most things that I want. If I’m looking for something in particular, I can go online and browse. There are usually thousands of items to go through but sometimes, I can’t narrow it down on the website that well. I wanna be able to put in the size and the shape when I’m looking for furniture. It was a little disappointing when I got the table because it wasn’t the color I thought it was. Online, it looked like a lighter color, which was what I was looking for. Now, I have to paint the thing because it doesn’t go with the rest of the stuff I have in the house. Also, having your purchases delivered to your house is nice instead of having to go pick it up but sometimes, I wish I could go into the showroom.

    I got a DirectBuy membership realizing that it could save me a fair amount of money on the price I would be able to buy through them. I've used the membership for about eight years, purchasing appliances, furniture and lighting, and my experience has been very good. The challenge is that you’re buying from a catalog, so you have to do some research to figure out what you’re getting in some cases. If you want a chair or sheets and linens, you can’t feel it. You have to know what a 800-thread-count would feel like. All the same, the products are of excellent quality and I haven’t found anything of low quality. DirectBuy seems to be discerning about what they carry. I’m also happy with the products' cost. I’ve had plenty of people ask me about DirectBuy and I tell them that they have great prices.
