    I bought a small round coffee table with glass top, and a side table that matched it. They are very nice, and really worth it for what they cost. It's true that specially the smaller one was a bit difficult to assemble, and the bigger one has a small nick on the surface, but not very noticeable.     This cabinet is serving as extra cupboard space for my larger kitchen appliances and cookware. It is very attractive and sturdy with plenty of room. It would also be a good sized pantry. It is extremely heavy which is indicative of the quality. However, as a woman in her 40s of normal strength, I had trouble moving it into my house from the front porch due to its size and weight. My handyman assembled it by himself in about 20 minutes but I would have needed a second person.

    When I first went on to your website, there were some areas of confusion in order to get to where I needed to be in placing my order like repeating information several times. The product arrived sooner than expected which was great as it is a piece going in a nursery for my new grandbaby. My husband put it together with no problems.     I spent over $700 for my order. I received an email letting me know part of the shipment had been damaged and they were sending replacement items. The damaged item arrived and once we realized the poor quality of the material the decision was made to cancel the items that had not yet arrived. I contacted customer service and explained our decision. He ended with he was going to send a request for return. I questioned what he meant by "request" and told him the item was damaged and was being returned. The item was repacked and pick up was scheduled.

    I then got a request from Cymax requesting pictures. What company does that? I learned Cymax is just a drop ship company that doesn't stand behind the products they sell. BEWARE! 4 months of emails and still no resolution. Seems as though their profits are based on the tangled web of their return policy so much so they have an attorney on staff? If they were a legit company, why the option to have an attorney contact me regarding my complaint? Crooks!

    Their website claims it will be shipped within 3-5 days. It has been 9 (6 business days) and I have called twice and the order is still "in progress". They need to either ship it out in 3-5 days or contact the buyer and LET THEM KNOW. When I call, they have told me twice that it will be shipped and I should receive a tracking number via email. Nothing. I purchased a $650 desk so I expect it should be shipped in the timely manner advertised on their company website.

    Ordered over $1300.00 of different products. First shipment was to include (4) different pieces only (2) arrived and both the completely wrong product. Called them - talked about it and was told to email a request in. Did that, no response - emailed several more times no response. Other (2) missing pieces never arrived along with (3) other pieces I ordered. Customer services is horrible, shipping practices unacceptable and no response has forced me to initiate a chargeback. This place needs to be investigated by someone - DON'T SHOP THERE!!

    I placed an order on the Cymax website, March 11th 2014, purchasing a Homelegance Sparkle Tufted Upholstered Bed in white. I received an email from Cymax stating my order has shipped just a few days later, on March 19th 2014. I still haven't received my bed. I've called repeatedly to both Cymax & Home Direct USA (delivery company) and I'm being sent to voicemail. No one has returned any of my calls. It is now April 7th, 2014 and I'm still waiting.

    I bought a TV stand from Cymax ($305); then I found at Meijer ($ 115). Even I send an email to cancel the order (6:09 am) 59 min after I placed the order (5:10 am), they ignore my email. They did not agree to match the price, but offer me 10% of the price. Even the box is not open yet they will charge me $120 if I decide to return it. The worst company I deal with ever. Before you buy anything from them, please check Meijer or other stores.

    I purchased a jewelry armoire from Cymax, which was damaged when I received it. Cymax doesn't allow consumers to return items, even if they were damaged when you receive it. After several emails and lengthy phone calls, I was asked to send pictures of the damaged item. Once they finally responded to my emails, they informed me that it was MY responsibility to take the item to Goodwill or the Salvation Army and donate the item in their name, then prove that I had done that by faxing back the form to them.

    Cymax didn't have to do anything, but it was up to me to jump through all the hoops to donate the item on their behalf, so they could claim it as a tax write-off. Once I donated the item, I had to send several faxes to them, as they kept stating they didn't receive the fax. The entire process has taken me over 3 months to resolve and as of this date, I still have not received the actual refund on my credit card.

    This practice has to be illegal, as I have never had any other company require the consumer to donate their damaged items on their behalf, in order to receive a refund. They just don't want to have to pay shipping costs on damaged items, so they make it the consumer's responsibility and expense to deal with the issue. I will never order from Cymax again, nor would I recommend anyone else to order from them!!

    I received my order much faster than I anticipated within a few days. The order arrived without any damage, and all parts were included. My only comment is that the assembly instructions are not really very clear, and it is very easy to use the wrong screws to put the items together, or put the screws into the wrong pre-drilled holes. I have assembled 6 other Bush products, so I am pretty familiar with how to do it, but I had to redo a couple of steps because the instructions were not that clear. Overall, I am a satisfied customer. But better assembly instructions will be greatly appreciated!

    I ordered a coffee table on February 17 and it was delivered on March 5. The box was completely torn up and just by opening the top of the box I could tell there was damage such that I could not use it. I notified the company and sent pictures. They offered me a 15% discount. I told them I didn't want a discount, that I wanted a replacement or for them to haul it out of here. They then ignored me until I talked to my credit card company about the process to reverse the charge. I emailed them that they needed to send me the RMA and had fifteen days to pick it up (there is something about 15 days according to the credit card company).

    The company has now offered to give me a credit if I donate this 130 lb hunk of junk that is in my garage. I have now emailed and asked if they are refusing to send the RMA. I anticipate that in another six days I will have no resolution and I will file the formal complaint with my credit card company to have this refunded. I wish I had seen these reviews prior to the purchase because I would not have purchased it. I buy frequently online and have NEVER encountered BS like this. I don't want to buy anything from them again. I do not want a credit. It sounds like there needs to be a serious investigation of this company based on the things they are doing to consumers.

    I bought the South Shore Sand Castle twin bed. It was shipped promptly and arrived in one box with all parts and instructions included. I easily assembled it on my own. It's a great bed for a child, because it's relatively low to the floor, but it's quite sturdy enough for an adult. I've slept in it also. The drawers are great for storing bedding and stuffed toys. I did need a replacement for one of the drawer knobs because the paint on one was a bit bumpy, and a call to customer service resulted in a replacement knob being sent to me quickly.     I ordered a bunk bed for my daughter (I spent over 2k). When the delivery came, the driver got stuck in my driveway for 2.5 hours. Apparently they could not tell the driveway curved. They gave up and put the bunk bed in my neighbors truck (long driveway) who delivered it to me. The stairs on the bunk bed was broken. I refused it immediately and the delivery company took it back. The bed base was forgotten and not with the order. I called and emailed Cymax and tried to resolve the issues. I was told I need the product number. There is no product number included in the materials that I have received.

    In order to prove this I provided pictures of the instruction guide. They have not responded. The original delivery was on February 28. Today is March 25 and I still do not have a delivery date. I email Cymax every other day asking for information. I am very disappointed that this has not yet been resolved.

    L-shape desk w/hutch & bookcase. The desk was a total nightmare for my husband and I to put together as the instructional booklet gave terrible directions. Also, please be aware that upon completion, it is nearly impossible to move the desk in it's proper place without a screw coming loose or something falling apart. The corner piece actually broke when we tried to carefully move the desk up against the wall, and we tried to be very careful.     I was so excited when I found the perfect table and chairs in the perfect color on Cymax website. I called and spoke with Jordon who spoke so highly of the company and quality of the furniture that I made the order. I waited with excitement to receive it. I donated my current table so I could put it up right away. I explained to Jordon that I am handicapped so it has to be easy to put together. She said "the chairs come assembled and you only have put legs on the table". Well that was not true. So it was easy enough to read instruction and a friend came to help me. I was so disappointed that the back chair leg was cracked clear thru, the other chair scratched up. The set was supposed to be a drop leaf dark chianti set. The table they sent with "unassembled " chairs was a WHITE corner table. When I spoke with supervisor ** he stated "sometimes they make a LITTLE mistake." Little isn't how I would put it. The manufacturer is Jofran, if anyone is thinking of ordering from this company think twice. They say they will make it right, we will see!!!!

    I ordered a number of items from Cymax as we are furnishing an entire office. 2 of the items we wanted to try out and decided we wanted, bar height on the tables and stools instead of counter height. I have spent so much time on the phone with them trying to make their customer service rep in India understand that I have now lost money on the entire deal. I buy online all the time - this one is not a place to buy. I've emailed, I've called, they have no clue. If you think you might want to return something and want any reasonable refund, don't buy here. They said they would waive the 30% restocking fee when I did a new order. They couldn't produce and did not. They charge you also a ridiculous amount for their free shipping before they refund it too, saying you now pay shipping both ways, so on a $80 table, they will refund me like $30. Forget that. I am giving it away and won't ever buy from them again.

    The media tower was well packed and shipping was quick. I managed to put it together without help. However, I could have used an extra hand or two in assembling the main supports. Assembly instructions are quite good and it only took me an hour or two total time to get it together, without help. The tower works as advertised and I'm quite happy with it. I was concerned about the stability, but that has proved no problem as I have it almost filled and it stands and turns without a problem. Just remember it is a composite wood product and it does take a little patience and I used wood glue on the screws to make sure they would fit snug and tight. Overall and good product.

    First of all the estimated delivery date December 13th to the 24th. It was shipped on December 17th. I was contacted before Christmas to schedule a delivery date for the 2 end tables that I ordered. The problem was that they said they couldn't deliver them until January 8th even though they were only an hours drive away. There went my Christmas present surprise for my wife. Next when I assembled the end tables, one of them had paint chipped off of 3 of the wrought iron legs. The boxes were not damaged when they were delivered either. So I called customer service and after a 15 minute hold I explained to the agent what the problem was. He explained to me the possibility of getting replacement parts for the damaged pieces but I informed him that they could be fixed with just some touch up paint.

    I had such a terrible experience with the delivery not only due to the delay but also because I had to arrange my mother to be there for the delivery. I had given the agent my phone number to contact me during our conversation but during the process of him checking into touch up paint and having me on hold for another 10 minutes I was disconnected. I figured he would call back to finish the process but I received no call. So that evening I emailed Cymax to explain what had happened. Once again no response to my email. With all of this I would not recommend doing business with Cymax. Buyer beware!!!

We have been trying to return it for 2 months. The only response we received from Cymax is a request for tracking numbers.     On November 5, 2013, we became interested in a Cymax Bedroom Set which my wife and I had seen online. Upon searching as far as we could and finding no mention of where the country of origin of this particular set was, as it was important to us that it be made in the U.S.A., we decided to use the Cymax phone number provided and spoke to Michael who reassured us that it indeed was made in the U.S.A.; where upon hearing this we went ahead and purchased via telephone. No more than an hour later after searching further online, my wife noticed two night stands that she preferred over the original ones that also were part of the same set that we just had purchased and managed to substitute the original two night tables with these for a higher price.

    On November 14th, we received delivery of the two nightstands only and found that one of them was damaged. We never bothered to open the other carton. We had requested "white glove treatment" but they were just dropped off at the front porch. We also noticed that they were made in Vietnam. At that very moment, I was speaking to Matt from Cymax on the telephone. I explained the situation to him adding that I would not accept the set and expected a full refund and needed the two pieces to be picked up. He said he would have a sales rep call us. As the weekend was approaching, we weren't able to get in touch with them until the following week. We were reassured that they were working on the scheduled pickup, which to this date hasn't happened.

    After multiple tries at speaking to anyone at all at Cymax, we gave up, other than receiving a first email from Stephen and ensuing ones following. Trying to bargain and offering a lower price and when I made clear I wanted a full and complete refund, his words became accusing stating that his sales reps were trained to know where their goods are made. At present, I am relying on my Credit Card Company "Discover" to recover my payment.

    I am writing about my horrible experience so far with CYMAX. After making arrangements with my family from Florida to come visit us here in New York for the Christmas Holidays, we browsed the internet and decided to purchase a dining room set. The order was placed on Nov 30 and I should have immediately known things were going to be bad when the CYMAX order kept telling us over and over for 5 days that the order was in review although our bank was telling us that it had been charged on the first day.

    The back and forth tracking and calls only made it worse, as we were desperate to have our table delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Several times, the delivery company called with different dates until finally I was TOLD that delivery would be for December 19th and between 4 – 8 PM. I attempted to explain that we had been waiting for this for over 3 weeks and that I was scheduled to go to a surprise 40th birthday party of one of my best friends about 1 hours drive away at 7 PM. There was no compromise at all except a rescheduled delivery date after Christmas, thereby leaving us without a dining room table for us and our guests.

    On December 19th, after waiting all evening long, a delivery truck pulled up to our driveway at 7:40 PM in the dead of a dark, winter night. The two men carried the three boxes into our house and I pointed out that the boxes were pretty damaged but they said that they were packed well and if there were any damage issues, they would be replaced immediately within 3 – 5 business days. I did not sign any paperwork but was given a series of papers describing the order and they left in 5 min.

    After determining that we could not make the surprise party, I began to open the boxes and an immediately realized that the marble table top had a deep cut in it from what appeared to be damage from something going right through the carton box. Also in a separate box, when I pulled the chair out, one of the legs was completely broken off in half. Needless to say, I was pissed and as per the instructions, I began to fill out the damage requests on the CYMAX website and also forwarded photos of the boxes and damaged furniture as per their requests. At the time, I wanted replacements for the damaged table and broken chair. Because of this incident, we cancelled the Holidays at our house with our family and had to have Christmas dinner at my sister’s house some 40 miles away instead.

    We received a series of automated responses back that the claim would be handled in 3 – 5 business days. On December 23rd, we received an email stating that did not receive any of the photos and we once again sent the same pictures. On December 26th, we received an email stating that the request and photos were sent to the manufacture for review. REVIEW of what as I spoke to customer service and demanded that they pick up their damaged goods and that I get a full refund back.

    On December 27th, we received a pdf file that contained a delivery sheet with a signature that stated that I accepted delivery but it was NOT my signature. In the sheet, there was nothing else filled regarding condition of furniture or boxes. I explained in an email that the delivery people rushed through the delivery and did specifically tell me that any damage would be handled by the company as they just delivered from the warehouse.

    In reading the reviews here now, I am afraid that we are in for a rough situation and do NOT expect to see any results anytime soon. This was a bad mistake on our part. I am writing this so that others that wiser than us and DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from this company.

    I am not one who typically writes reviews. Unless I have had a very good or a very poor customer experience, it doesn't make much sense to me. In the case of CYMAX, I think it is important to broadcast my experience so that those considering a purchase from them might think twice. My problems with CYMAX include so many issues - from deception at ordering to delayed delivery to poor customer service. BEWARE OF "WHITE GLOVE SILVER". My story begins in early November when I purchased a piece of office furniture for about $4,000. The piece consists of a base and a hutch. When purchasing, I noted that it included white glove treatment. In every other case in the industry, "white glove" means full delivery (placing in room of choice and unpacking and removing all packaging material).

    The fine print for CYMAX is that you are receiving "white glove silver" with your purchase - that means, room of choice with no package removal. For me, receiving a 6'x8' package without it being unpacked is ridiculous and something I would never want. Upon learning that this is what was included, I called CYMAX to figure out how to get full delivery (called "white glove gold" in their language). It took three calls for them to finally change my order - and this was only after telling me they were not able to get the price for me and I would have to call when the delivery guys were in my house and, at that point, we would "figure it out."

    DELIVERY - On the cold snowy day when the piece was finally due to be delivered (5 weeks after ordering), the delivery guys arrived with one big box. Knowing that the item was actually two pieces, I asked about the other box. The delivery guys told me they were only given one box. This is now December 9. When I looked at the shipping order, I noticed two line items - one marked with an item weighing 0 pounds, one with an item weighing 510 pounds. The two pieces I ordered are 233 and 277 pounds respectively. Someone was too lazy to note this. So, I have the hutch sitting in the middle of our home office.

    FAST FORWARD FIVE MORE CALLS AND TWO WEEKS - I have spoken with five CS reps from CYMAX since then. Each time, I have been told they would be back to me within 48 hours with an update. Each time, I have heard exactly nothing. At this point, it is 12/24 and I know for a fact that the base has yet to leave the manufacturer. My last conversation with a CS rep resulted in my supposedly being put on the expedited list (huh? That didn't happen after the problem occurred???) but there is still no base coming. I have asked repeatedly to speak with a manager only to be told they are "busy", "unavailable", "unable to add more than I am already being told". HOW ABOUT AN APOLOGY???

    The worst part (well, besides not having my furniture), not one person has even muttered "we are sorry". Quite frankly, I have no idea how this company is still in business. Perhaps someday, I will receive my base. In the meantime, go with a reputable company - a few dollars in savings is NOT worth the hassle.

    This has been my first experience with Cymax, and it will also be my last. I actually decided to shop at Cymax for a new bed after reading the reviews on this website; I'm not sure what happened, but our experience did NOT reflect the majority of experiences written about here. We ordered a lovely bed, waited a few weeks, and on the delivery day, the wrong bed was delivered. My conversation with the rep at Cymax while determining what to do (refuse the bed?) was maddening. He did not believe me that they delivered the wrong bed. So after wasting two hours of my time (and documenting the entire experience with my camera), I finally refused the bed and submitted and email to them with my documentation. Without going into the excruciating details of the time that has followed, response times were long, they never knew how long it was going to take to ship out another bed, etc., etc.

    After two weeks, they asked if I wanted a refund or still wanted the bed. OF COURSE, I still wanted the bed that we'd actually ordered - if I'd wanted a refund, I would have said so!! So over two months after our original order was placed, they finally said our new bed was being shipped. I waited at home last week for the four-hour delivery period, only to call the delivery company at the end of the period to ask where they were. The lady said that a message had been left for me 1 hour into the delivery time frame (there were NO messages on my phone, and they had the right number) saying the bed had been damaged while loading it onto the truck.

    I immediately wrote another message to Cymax, and it was three business days before I heard anything back. THEY said the bed was lost in transit (?!?) and again asked if I wanted a refund. We want a bed, and I have zero confidence that I will actually ever receive one from Cymax. Horrible, horrible experience, and I will never shop with Cymax again. The customer service throughout all of this was also awful; I would prefer to spend more money and actually deal with an honest company who has good customer service. In fact, I could have purchased a bed from Pottery Barn for less and received 100% better service from them. I'll be sure to update my review if we do not receive our complete refund in a reasonable amount of time (And frankly, they should give me interest on my money that they have had for 2 months!).

    I placed my order through Cymax.com on Dec. 4th with plenty of time to spare before Christmas to have it delivered. When I placed the order, I didn't receive confirmation or a receipt via e-mail so I was a little hesitant about the order actually being placed. So I waited 4 days to see if It cleared my account. When it didn't, I thought to myself it was time to call them to verify the order. I was on the phone with them for over an hr before they could confirm the order was not placed. That same day I started shopping around once again and found the same item on eBay but for more money. As I was running out of time I placed the order.

    After placing the order I realized the seller was Cymax and I thought to myself at that point I should have not made that purchase but at least eBay will help to keep them in line if something goes wrong. This time I did receive confirmation through PayPal that the order was placed. The 10th of December (the next day) I received my order. I thought to myself wow that was fast maybe I was wrong about Cymax, when I realized it was impossible for it to ship that fast I started looking into it more when I realized this was my first order I had placed.

    After checking my account verifying that I was charged twice for the same item I instantly called Cymax to see what I needed to do to be refunded and stop shipment on the 2nd order. Even after receiving the order they were having difficulty finding it in their system after being placed on hold off and on for over an hr they finally found it then they told me they would call me right back after figuring out the best way to handle this. When four hrs went by not hearing back from them I thought it was in my best interest to call them back. I finally got a hold of someone again, after re-explaining the circumstance they were finally able to pull It up again and he explained to me that the previous rep I spoke to cancelled my first order that I had already received and that I would be receiving return instructions within 3-5 business days.

    When I asked about my refund he explained there was nothing further he could do except tell me to look for the return instructions. I then requested that they cancel my 2nd order that was being processed for shipping and have it not be shipped. He again explained that there was nothing further they could do until I received my return instructions. After waiting three more days for the return instructions and not receiving them, I was fed up and needed the near $500 that they had of mine that I had other plans for Christmas to use on. I called once again waiting on hold finally speaking with someone that was the same caliber as the others. I finally asked to speak to a supervisor. They put me on hold for over an hr.

    When they finally got back to me, they explained they had high call volume and all of their supervisors were too busy to take the call. She further explained to me their return process stating once I receive the package and send it back, it would take 10-15 days for the manufacturer to receive it and verify that it is in new condition. Once that takes place, the manufacturer would contact Cymax to let them know a refund would be awarded. At that point, they would issue the refund minus shipping costs and a restocking fee but it could take up to 10-15 more days for it to show on my account. I couldn't believe my ears.

    It was going to take over a month to see any type of refund not to mention only a partial refund. Sure I placed two orders but I took all the appropriate steps to confirm that I didn't have a duplicate order. Now I'm being penalized for their error. I realized then there was nothing further Cymax themselves were going to do for me besides create me more chaos. My one and only last attempt was to contact the eBay seller of my 2nd order and see if that customer service was any better. I sent them four messages back to back explaining the pain that I've been through. I was surprised to see a response the very next day from them....

    "Our system shows order ** placed online through the Cymax site through the "V.me" system on December 4. The confirmation email was sent to you **; you may want to check your spam folder to see if email confirmation went there. This order shipped Dec. 5 and tracking information was sent to the same email address. Tracking indicates the order was delivered Dec. 10. Our system shows order ** placed through eBay Dec. 9 and paid the same day through PayPal. This order shipped Dec 10 and tracking was added to eBay. Our system indicates you phoned Dec. 11; there is no indication on either order that you called Cymax previously. We would not consider this our error; it appears 2 orders were placed for the same item for delivery to you. Cymax has paid the manufacturer for both items and will need to pay FedEx for the shipment.

    Generally, when our customers want to return their item(s), they are subject to our Standard Return Policy which stipulates that they will be responsible for a restocking fee, as well as the outgoing and return shipping charges which can amount to up to 30-50% of the price of the original product. However, as a courtesy to our eBay customers, we are capping these fees (for restocking and outgoing shipping) at 25% of the order total. We are covering the remainder of the costs ourselves. The customer is responsible for return shipping. As both items were ordered through Cymax, as a further courtesy we would be willing to waive the 25% restocking charge; you will still need to pay for the return shipping. I can offer you 2 options.

    Should you choose to accept and keep both items we would be willing to offer you a 10% discount on both orders (we can process the request right away on our system; it may take a few days to update on your account). The other option would be for the return on 1 of the fireplaces. You are responsible for the return shipping cost. We can request to have FedEx return the shipment currently in transit; generally this will only be completed when possible once the item reaches the final delivery terminal. Should FedEx attempt delivery; you can refuse to accept. If the item stays in FedEx possession, we can process the calculated refund once the return is confirmed in transit. Please confirm how you would like to proceed."

    As this was the best customer service I had seen from anyone representing Cymax I still wasn't pleased with having to pay the return shipping costs but it did beat any other alternatives they gave me. This was the response I sent back to them....

    "I'd first like to say that I did in fact call prior to placing the 2nd order and I can assure you that the representative of Cymax was unable to detect the order. In fact even after receiving the order when I called the 2nd time I had to push them to keep searching and after about an hr. they finally confirmed the original order. Besides the point I do however appreciate you trying to help unlike the previous customer support I have received. Although I'm still not satisfied about my alternatives and if there's nothing further you can do to help with this I would have to choose your 2nd option of contacting FedEx ASAP to have it shipped back to you. I requested this option the day after I received it with customer support once already and obviously this didn't happen so please send me confirmation of doing so. Thank you for your efforts."

    I didn't hear back from them for four days and of course I received the item prior to hearing back to them so I was forced to refuse the delivery. It was the 20th of December by the time I'd seen any type of refund minus the shipping costs. I think I've pleaded my case that Cymax does not have the customer service that one would enjoy dealing with. Please beware of this before thinking of placing any order through them to prevent yourself having to deal with such issues.

    Order was placed Dec 9. On Dec 10 FedEx picked up the shipment. On Dec 11 AND Dec 17 FedEx requested from shipper the missing commercial invoice for shipment to Canada. On Dec 19 with no response from shipper, FedEx returned order to shipper. On Dec 19 I called Cymax Customer Support and noted that FedEx had said that if paperwork was rec'd that evening, they may be able to stop return shipment. I was cut off at 4:02 Pacific Time (with 4:00 p.m. being the end of the work day) and could not access customer support again or leave a message. Agent had taken a secondary phone number to call me in case I was cut off????

    Next morning I called customer support again and was told that Cymax would get the manufacturer to ship another unit with post Xmas deliver. This was not satisfactory as it was a Xmas present so the order was cancelled with the provision that it could not be delivered pre Xmas in spite of a Dec 9th order date and thus was not required. Request for pre Xmas deliver was passed to the Resolutions Dept. End of story.

    Customer Service follow-up falls well short of a very low bar. Never again will I use this company as their lack of response to two requests from FedEx to fix a shipping problem were ignored. My first discussion with Customer Support was cut short with no resolution or feedback and my last discussion with Customer Support was unsatisfactory as the solution was that 12 days after originally placing the order as a Xmas gift it would be reordered with deliver sometime post Xmas.

    I placed an order for a desk on 12/1. It shipped 12/12 which while quite slow wasn't an issue - still plenty of time to arrive by Christmas. On 12/19 I discovered they placed two mailing labels on the same box, essentially shipping the same item to two different customers at two different addresses. I called and explained this to two different CS agents (definitely out of country) who screwed me around for over an hour telling me that fedex would be redirecting the item to me (after it was delivered already to the other customer who ordered it too). Countless requests to speak to a supervisor were met with a ton of excuses like repeating the same scripted BS repeatedly to avoid transferring me, arguing with me that the 30 minutes I had spent on the phone was actually 10 (I called EXACTLY at 8am PST so I knew EXACTLY how long I spent on the phone) and lastly "all the supervisors are in meetings and they will call you back by end of business today" (while refusing to tell me what time end of business was).

    CS agent said they could "try to get the shipper to send a replacement, but it wouldn't arrive by Christmas, and no one is available to approve any expedited shipping method to make up for the initial shipping error". Bottom line - CS at the retailer is a joke, while you are on hold for over any hour you can listen to how CS is their number one priority. Ironic. For all I know the product may or may not be of good quality but I can assure you that the customer service is bottom of the pile. And so, on 12/19 I am stuck trying to find a replacement as this is my son's main (and just about only) Christmas Gift this year. Thanks CYMAX - you will never see another penny of my money, and my sincere hope is that other customers who may be tempted to order will be deterred from doing so.

    I ordered an ebony computer desk with hutch from Cymax. The big problem was the installation. What should have been an easy assembly took 7 hours with 2 people. To assemble the hutch I had to drill some new holes and additionally some desk drawers are misaligned. Upon contacting Cymax they told me, they would send replacement parts. Problem is, a replacement part wouldn't help, basically I needed a new desk. Anyway I ended up keeping the desk, it's not perfect, but I can manage. However personally I won't order from them anymore. There is a big discrepancy between price of the furniture and value.

    I'd thought I ordered the cedar chest from Sears, but Cymax was the 3rd party carrier. For personal reasons, had to return the item unopened. The restocking fees are enormous. Never had such an experience with any other retailer. It has been almost 2 months and the refund, minus restocking and shipping fees has still not been credited to my account. I have had to call numerous times. Each time am given a reason for the problem and still no resolution. I will never shop this retailer again. Buyer beware - make sure that the item is not seemingly from the major retailer and funneled through Cymax. Nothing but an expensive headache.

    I ordered a TV stand on-line from Cymax 12/02/13, I got it 12/05/13. There were problems with the delivery, the box had a hole in it and both sets of screws 40 in all were missing and one of the panels was loose. I called 12/07 Cymax after trying for quite a while and an Abdul answered and asked me to take a picture, I told him I couldn't take a picture of something that I didn't receive and the picture wouldn't show the loose piece on the panel. I called Cymax a total of four times, and I also reported this company to the Attorney General's office because I won't get any satisfaction from them and I won't let them keep my $180.00 for defective and missing merchandise without resolving this problem. Then I used my head and contacted the manufacturing company and they are trying to resolve this matter. I'm still filing a suit against Cymax and hopefully everyone that they scam will do the same.

    Worst online & customer service experience ever! Ordered 9-piece dining room set back in November in order to have it at our new house for Christmas dinner. Set finally arrived on December 9th with the table itself being heavily damaged - the box had broken open and someone just put stretch wrap over the damaged table, possibly hoping I wouldn't notice the damage. Not sure if Cymax has anything to do with the carriers they use for deliveries, but this shipment was sent via a 40-foot truck that didn't have a ramp and the driver said my driveway was "too long" to drive down. So I had to physically climb into the truck, pick up the boxes myself, and then carry them up to my house.

    Regardless, I refused the table, but was made to keep the 8 chairs as they were not damaged... or at least the boxes did not appear to be. Called Customer Service that very afternoon and was told I would have to wait 5-8 business days for an "update" about my claim. When I stated I didn't understand why I needed to wait that long and asked to speak to a supervisor since I needed to have the table by Christmas. I was put on hold. Eventually, the original Customer Service representative returned to the phone and told me if I wanted to, I could speak to a supervisor, but that they would "just tell you the same thing I'm telling you. You have to wait 5-8 business days for an update."

    After demanding to speak to a supervisor because I either needed confirmation that I would have a table by Christmas or else I was cancelling the entire order, I was once again put on hold. Once again, the same Customer Service representative returned to the phone, said they had worked with the supervisor and that a new table would be shipping out by Wednesday (the 11th).

    Needless to say, the 11th came and went and the status of my replacement table was still "in progress". A call to Customer Service was nothing short of frustrating and 20 minutes later, I ended the call not having discerned any additional information other than "it is in progress." Later that week, the status of my order was changed to "expected to ship no later than December 17th." OK, not ideal but at least it would be here for Christmas, right? Wrong!

    This morning, December 16th, the status of my order was updated to "expected to ship no later than December 31st." I called Customer Service and explained that since I can't get the table in time for Christmas, I wanted to cancel my order and return the chairs that I was made to hang onto. I was told that they would be happy to do that... provided that I PAY THE RETURN SHIPPING CHARGES FOR THE 8 CHAIRS AND A RESTOCKING FEE. They also couldn't tell me what the holdup with the table was and that they could only find out more information "once the table ships".

    So here's where my "easy online transaction" has me today: no table, no concrete delivery date (or that it won't be damaged - online reviews I probably should have read before ordering, report multiple tables being damaged during shipment due to insufficient packaging materials), and 8 chairs which may or may not be damaged (but I refuse to open the boxes to check since I'll probably need them to ship the chairs back). Oh yeah, and a completely unhelpful and borderline incompetent Customer Service department that continually says they will help rectify the situation and then does nothing except add more angst to an already frustrating situation. Happy holidays, indeed. Guess this one is going to be spent eating around some card tables from the garage.

    After posting this, I was finally patched through to a manager, Matt. He was very attentive and interested in working out some sort of a resolution to the problem. He offered some ideas which included trying to reduce the shipping fees which he explained were not Cymax, but charges direct from the carrier that they are passing on. The restocking fee is from the manufacturer and also that in the return policy section, there is a sentence that says you will be responsible for those fees if an item is returned. Because this was furniture and not something small like a lamp, it was significant.

    I did not opt for this as my refund would pale in comparison to the half grand I spent on it. So, he then offered to have it re-sent to be as promised before with no extra charges and that in addition to that he would give a 10% refund off my total order to help off-set the cost of the person I have had to hire to help me receive it since I'm on bed rest and my husband works.

    All in all, I am satisfied with this resolution. I still won't shop from Cymax again, but I do have to say of all 19 people I spoke with, Matt was by far above and beyond the best.

    I ordered a dresser/mirror, but was unable to receive them since I was 9 months pregnant and in the hospital. I called Cymax and they instructed me to refuse the shipment and they would process a refund. The total cost was $455, but they offered a refund for only $28 after restocking fees, shipping fees, etc. When I called them and said this was not was I was told - they could have cared less. My only option was to be completely screwed out of my money with no product, or they would redeliver for free. I will post on any site I can to let people know about this incredibly horrific business practice. I have never seen anything like this ever and I, nor anyone, I know will ever shop here again. This is the breakdown they sent me. Keep in mind, this email was dated 12/12/13:

    I ordered a dinette set from Cymax hoping to have it for Thanksgiving. It was supposed to be delivered on Nov 20th. The night before scheduled delivery, I received a call from Manna (delivery company) that set was damaged and I needed to contact Cymax. I contacted Cymax the next day and every day since, only to be told that I will be receiving an email in 24-48 hours updating me on when my set will be delivered. I have not received any email and if it wasn't for me calling them every day, I don't think they would have called me and told me anything. Today is Nov 30th. If I don't receive an email by Dec 1st, I will ask that my money get refunded. This is my first and last experience with Cymax. I will never order from them again!     I purchased a book case (which was shipped in 3 boxes) from Cymax a few weeks ago. Once I put the first section together, I realized that I did not like the quality of the furniture. It looked NOTHING like the picture on their website. I contacted Cymax to process my refund. They told me that they cannot accept furniture that has been assembled. So after they take out shipping, restocking fee, I will be refunded $171.00 of the $523.00 that I originally paid. And then.... I am responsible for shipping the two unopened boxes to the them? Which I am sure will cost way more than the $171.00 that they are refunding to my bank account (since the shipping charges to deliver it to my house was $248.00 according to Cymax).

    I bought 2 of these beds for my daughters. I was very impressed with the speedy response and the fact that the one broken piece was reshipped to us. Tonight I was working on getting the dresser ends put together as we just received the replacement piece this weekend. I was proud to be doing it alone UNTIL I got to the drawers. I have a total of 6 drawers and with the S piece for every single drawer it is wrongly drilled. The first photo is comparing S and S1. You can see that they are not correctly drilled. Second photo is showing that S does not line up. Third photo is showing that S1 is correctly lined up. The 4th photo is showing again that the piece is not going to fit with the holes that were provided.

When I called to tell them of the damaged piece, they said they would send the replacement within 10 days.     Very difficult and tedious to assemble. It took two of us (one with a degree in mechanical design!) 7 hours to get it right. Looking @ the drawings and pictures, it appears that the top left is two small drawers, when in reality it's another duplicate file drawer with a "false front" consisting of two small drawer fronts butted up to one another. We were puzzled because there was only one set of drawer rails mounted per the instructions. We initially thought we were missing the right parts and stopping working on assembly!

    This was my fourth (and last) order from Cymax. The first three arrived with no issues. In the latest, I ordered a kitchen nook set. Everything was good except that the table top was split from end to end with the grain of the wood. I first went to the website as instructed and the "request replacement parts" button didn't work - the screen just tried to load forever. Then I called customer service who took the report and "ordered" a new tabletop. It has now been a week and I can't get a status or response from customer service. It took only 4 days to fill the original order. So I think Cymax loves you if you are ordering and has lousy customer service if you have a problem. I will never go to them again after spending about 2 grand there before. Be careful before you go to this retailer because their back end processes stink.

    First the positive. Cymax said the product would arrive in ten days at most; actually, it did in one day. Excellent delivery, the box was intact, all parts were complete. The assembly was tedious but instructions were clear. The stand is as advertised. Very nice looking. Now the neg. Plan to use this furniture in a well-ventilated area, not as I intended for bedroom use. Why? Because it has a strong distinctive smell of formaldehyde, a chemical shown to cause myriad of things, among them, even cancer. Now, in fairness to Cymax, they say that their wood composite meets Phase 2 of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure in California. That statement is not good enough when you're breathing that chemical smell in your room every day. So, buyers bear this in mind.

    I ordered a dining room set from Cymax. The glass table broke in transit and they had to send me a replacement glass which I received on Oct 20th 2013, but they did not send me any of the chairs or the table stand. After this date I have talked to Cymax reps at least 5 different times. All promising to fix this situation and nothing was done. I also talked to at least 5 reps from Manna distribution all promising to fix the situation and nothing has been done. I ordered this product on Aug 5 2013. I am writing this complaint on Nov 8 2013 and yet to receive my full order. Over 3 months with no solution. Not satisfied with the service I am receiving with Cymax and very angry with the empty promises I have received from sales representatives.

    I have never been so disappointed with an online purchase before. The dresser I ordered was very cheap wood. The drawers could not hold anything more than 5 pounds because the wood on the bottom of the drawers was so flabby that when put any weight in it, it would immediately start to bend and when we tried to move the dresser, it cracked in the middle and the drawer became useless. So the entire thing was useless. We could not return the item since it was all put together already and we did not have the original packing for it either anymore.     Overall, I give my experience an A-. The desk arrived in very good condition (only a couple very small scratches, fortunately where they couldn't be seen). The engineering was excellent (i.e., all peg, holes lined up good), although there were four screw holes I had to finish drilling out. If there was a problem, it was with the instructions, which I would give a C+ or maybe a B-. The worst part of the instructions came when assembling the L portion of the desk. That portion was total confusion. If you had never assembled anything, don't attempt this by yourself. Would I recommend the Saratoga desk? Yes, I would!

    Cymax's resolution team initially offered me a 15% refund to keep the damaged coffee table, as the manufacturer declined the replacement request (it was the delivery company's fault, not theirs, so I can see why). However, after expressing my deep disappointment with that initial offer, Cymax resolution team has actually done the honorable thing and refunded me the full price of the table. I am surprised and delighted by this gesture and it shows me that Cymax is trying hard to change their ways and become a more customer service oriented company. I would shop there again.

    Note to self and other buyers, when your package arrives, don't just sign on the paper that the delivery team hands you (especially if it's Manna). Make them wait while you open the package and inspect the contents. If they're going to shirk any responsibility of damage once you sign the paper, they can wait while you check the goods. It'll probably be a paint in the ass and the delivery guys will probably give you dirty looks, but you'll avoid a lot of hassle in the future.

    Similar to many others have noted, I have been given the runaround by this company. Before I bought the coffee table, I had searched online and Cymax.com seems to be one of the better online stores. So I bit the bullet and shelled out $1299 for a coffee table that my husband and I fell in love with from a website that we haven't done business with before.

    It took about a month to deliver the table and it arrived damaged. I won't go into the details but their delivery company, Manna, scheduled and rescheduled the delivery three times, a huge inconvenience to me since I had to be home for each of the delivery windows. When it finally arrived, they dropped the box on their way up the one flight of stairs, but left immediately. I opened the box as soon as they left and found one of the corners damaged through the box and foam packaging and immediately opened a replacement request online (as their own instructions say) along with photo of the damage.

    I called the following day to make sure that the request was received and there is nothing more that I need to do. I was assured that I will receive an update from their replacement team within 5 business days. Of course, that didn't happen, and after two more calls, each time assured that I will hear back in 48 hours, I finally received a standard form letter email that says, "At this time, we are working with manufacturer and will provide you with replacement shortly." I have tried email and phone to figure out when the replacement will arrive and when they will pick up the broken coffee table that is eating up a big chunk of our living room, each time getting basically the same "we're waiting for a response from the manufacturer" rote response. They promised to get back to me by end of the day today, but I have little confidence that would happen.

    After reading the other reviewers on this site, I shudder at the prospect of dealing with them if I should choose to cancel the order because I've been sick and tired to waiting for a response about the replacement. I have called into my credit card company and inquired about the procedures to dispute the charges should Cymax continue to basically ignore me. Their customer service reps on the phone have no power to do anything, and the replacement team can only be reached by email. You cannot speak to a person, even their service reps do not have a phone number to call them on (so I've been told). This ensures that the people, who are responsible for tracking down the manufacturer and working with them to quickly resolve this issue, can hide behind the anonymity of email (a general "Cymax resolution team" email box at that, not even a specific person) and basically do nothing but forward a couple of emails.

    I'm hoping they come through in the end, really. It's been a 6z+ week ordeal, and I just want my coffee table. But I'm not betting on it.

    I ordered a dinning room set with table, hutch and buffet. I received the table which came in fine condition. I received the buffet and hutch which arrived and upon opening the box, there was glass shattered all throughout the box. The box was destroyed and it took 3 weeks for the item to be picked up from my garage. (After being such a hazard to my children, they were banned from their own garage!) I contacted Cymax to let them know of my circumstance and they basically just apologized and said they were shocked because nothing like this ever happens with their company. The second time around, the hutch arrived with an intact box and as soon as it was opened by my husband, he slit his finger open to find an incredible amount of broken glass along with the mirror again!

    I contacted Cymax who were not very helpful. They put me through the ringer as if this was my fault that their furniture is showing up destroyed! Today was my 3rd attempt to get an intact hutch. The deliverymen came and opened the box outside to find the entire thing completely destroyed! I'm not sure what to do anymore and I'm so utterly disgusted with this company. I strongly encourage anyone in the process of looking to purchase furniture to stay far far away from this horrific company! Save yourself the headache!

    Once I contacted the manufacturer directly, we had the parts we needed within a few days. We were finally able to get it put together. The issue was resolved, but not by Cymax, they only gave me the run around.

    I received the order and 4 parts were damaged. I contacted them to see what I had to do to get them replaced. They requested I email pictures of the damage to them. I sent them pictures of the parts, plus pictures of the box the parts came in. It took a couple of weeks and I get a second request for the pictures. I email them again and upload them to their website. Then more time passes and I get another request for pictures and the part numbers. I responded to the email to let them know I had submitted the pictures a couple of times and I sent the part numbers. I also went to their website and submitted them there also.

    I wanted to make sure they had everything they needed. A little over a month from the first time I emailed the pictures I logged into their website to check on the progress of the replacement parts, to discover they had not even emailed me to let me know that anything had shipped. We get the package, but we know it is too light to contain all 4 parts we need. When we open it there is only 1 part. I contacted Cymax and talked with someone who continually put me on hold. She would ask a few questions, and I would be put on hold again, almost 25 minutes worth of holding, just to be told I needed to contact the manufacturer.

    She provides me with the number and I call them, just to discover the reason I did not receive all the parts I needed was Cymax had only sent one email with one picture to the manufacturer. I will never buy anything from Cymax again. I would definitely encourage anyone who is considering it to rethink their decision. We decided the headache we have had to put up with and the waiting has not been worth the little bit of savings we received for purchasing the product through them.

There was some damage to the desk top. It's minimal and I will not be asking for a refund. While putting it together, several of the plastic L brackets broke. It's in my opinion the L brackets be metal. Last but not least, there were not enough of the flat head screws to put the drawers together where they would slide in easy. Thank you.

    I was informed by Cymax re the tracking of my order. Initially the information transmitted by Cymax was confusing in that the order showed that two headboards had been sent. My order was for one headboard and two end tables. I was concerned so I called Customer Service who informed me that the furniture was from separate companies and that an internal mistake had been made.

    I still was unsure so I called Customer Service again and they assured me that my order was as I requested. The packages were delivered to my satisfaction and the furniture was assembled easily.     The process up to delivery has been great! Now for the but, when delivered there was poor handling during shipping somewhere along the way. Package arrived with hole in carton and consequent hole in one of the doors inside carton. Customer service staff wonderful, reordered door with no questions. Package arrives and guess what? Poor handling in shipping again. This time end of package ripped open and again damage to door. Called C/S again superb response and another replacement door to be shipped. Can't wait to see if this one gets to us in decent condition.

    Someone needs to review damages caused by your shipper. When I was in the business world one damaged shipment was cause for review, two sent up red flags. The shipper was immediately charged back for the cost of the product along with S&H charges. Thought that the applicable management should be aware of this situation. Can't solve this type of issue if they are made aware of customer experiences.
