Was not able to receive furniture I paid for in cash as promised date. Sales person never said it was on backorder till the end of February. Now, I am having a difficult time getting my money back. Because it has to meet approval. When I paid it was out of my account same day!!

My furniture within a year's period. Started breaking down on one side. I am 180 pounds. My wife is less. I did buy the insurance but for some reason or another it doesn’t cover breakdown of the cushions or the framework underneath. Don’t know how that is, but they told me to call the insurance company first since I bought the insurance that he refused so I paid for nothing there and the first time Ashley did come out. They did put new cushions in in that. But it broke down again saying situation maybe because I like to sit on that side, but it did so I’m paying on a couch that’s worth nothing and I’ll never go to Ashley‘s again because they refuse to fix it a second time and the insurance won’t fix it either. So I recommend to anybody stay away from this company.
They will sell you more than you need and you could buy the same thing exact same thing from Menards at half the price or maybe other stores and at least then when the sofa starts breaking down, it won’t bother you so much. Their insurance stay away from it if you do decide to go there and just know that you’re gonna pay for overpriced couches or chairs and they won’t last very long. Hopefully you’ll make the same decision as I did if you do buy one never to go back. Furniture is higher on one side on the outside than the other.

We purchased a swivel chair, paid 600 plus for it, went to pick it up and brought it home only to find out it was too big then called right away to return it not even a hour later. We went back and found out we had to pay 75.00 restocking fee, it was never taken out of the packaging, this was ridiculous. We were going to get another one but since they charged us that we didn't I know it didn't matter, we will never buy anything again from Ashley.

Bought a full-size mattress & new bed frame. Order came about 2 weeks early. Right mattress. Completely wrong frame. Apparently Ashley Furniture just does not care to fix their delivery system problems. True to all the reviews I read, the store is great, the people are helpful, but none of that matters because most likely you will not receive what you ordered and if you do you will be lucky if it is all there. This is a headache nobody needs.

My husband and I purchased a living room set, a bedroom set and two Tempur-Pedic mattresses with bases. We have been very satisfied with the purchases we have made as far as quality goes. We were just as satisfied with the sales associate that we made all of our purchases with. HOWEVER, when it comes to their customer service it STINKS!!! I need to swap out my mattress under the 90-day comfort guarantee, and they don't know what they are doing. I have been told to call 4 different number to include calling Tempur-Pedic directly just to end up back where I started. Ashley says I need to speak to Tempur-Pedic directly, and Tempur-Pedic says that I need to speak with Ashley and that this is an ongoing issue that they have been having with Ashley. Very frustrating and not quite sure it is worth all of the trouble.

Worst furniture shopping experience of my life!!! And I'm 61. Prices online were cheaper then in store and when asked, the manager was to call me back 2 times and never did. I canceled my order and was told prices changed when put in your cart on line.... what???? Besides taxes, prices should not change!!! Complete insult to my intelligence. The girl behind the desk then proceeded to tell me they change according to your zip code....again WHAT???? So I was being charged more because of my zip code! WHAT A SCAM. And to top it off, the manager refused to come to the desk to approve my return. She gave the girl her pass code so she could do it herself! WOW! I WILL NEVER SHOP AT ASHLEYS AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT THE SCAM THEY ARE DOING!!!

I will never buy another product from Ashley or City Furniture South Florida again! I purchased a couch with a 3-year protection plan. I am at year two and my couch cushion is dented and worn. I put in a claim, however they will not service my couch because I no longer live in Florida! I have called customer service 6 times with no resolution and no less than 4 hours of my time!!! I even went to a local Ashley furniture store in NJ to see if they can help me. I am truly disgusted with the lack of help and disregard for customers. I would never ever recommend Ashley or city furniture to anyone.

Ashley Furniture: The Worst Customer Experience I’ve Ever Had. I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience with Ashley Furniture was so frustrating and disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. The Purchase That Started It All. On 11/08/2025, I purchased a couch from Ashley Furniture. The salesperson assured me we could pick it up on 11/15/2025. Based on that promise, we made plans accordingly.
When we went to the warehouse on the 15th, we were told the couch wasn’t available until 12/15/2025. Annoying, but we waited. Conflicting Information and False Hope. On 12/15/2025, after waiting a full month, we even received a phone call saying the couch was ready for pickup. We went to the warehouse—again—and were told it still wasn’t available. Customer service then told us it would be available on 12/27/2025, and because of all the delays, they offered free delivery on 12/30/2025. This was extremely upsetting, especially since it meant we wouldn’t have a couch for Christmas.
The Mysterious Refund. On Christmas Day, I checked my bank account and noticed the entire purchase amount had been refunded—without any explanation or notification. On 12/26/2025, we called customer service to ask why. The representative said he didn’t know why the refund happened but assured us the couch would still be delivered on 12/30/2025. At this point, I had almost no faith left, but I kept the refunded money aside just in case they later claimed we hadn’t paid.
Delivery Day Disaster. On the morning of 12/30/2025, I called to confirm the couch was on the delivery truck. Surprise—it wasn’t. That’s when we were told the order had been cancelled on 12/18/2025. This made absolutely no sense, since on 12/15/2025 they had switched us to free delivery instead of warehouse pickup.
This cancellation also explained why the refund happened on 12/24/2025, but it raised a bigger question: Why did customer service still show the couch scheduled for delivery when we called on 12/26/2025? The Real Problem (That No One Told Us About). After calling the local store, we finally learned what went wrong: When we called on 12/15/2025 to arrange free delivery, Ashley cancelled the original fully paid order. They created a new delivery order. Instead of transferring our payment, they marked it as layaway—pay in full before delivery. No one told us about this—not the store, not customer service. Had we been informed on 12/26/2025, we could have simply paid and resolved the issue.
Final Letdown. We asked if we could just pay for a couch that was already available and pick it up at the warehouse. An employee named Hannah said 8 couches had arrived, with 5 already on delivery trucks, meaning 3 should be at the warehouse. She said her boss would call the warehouse and get back to us. After two hours and no call, we followed up. That’s when we were told none were available after all. The only option offered? Order another couch and wait until 01/20/2026.
Final Decision. At that point, we were done. After weeks of misinformation, cancelled orders, unexplained refunds, and poor communication, we decided to take our business elsewhere. We will never purchase anything from Ashley Furniture again. If you’re considering buying furniture from them, I strongly recommend thinking twice. No couch is worth this level of stress, confusion, and wasted time.

The customer service is horrendous. Completely unhelpful individuals that ask you to repeat your name, address, phone number, order number, repair number, replacement number but do not document the issue. I spoke with 14 individuals since making my purchase and not one of them read the notes or knew the issue fully. 14 calls later, I'm supposed to receive a new dinette set. Let's see if this time the wood is not chipped and the chairs are not wobbling.

When I called and spoke to the regional manager, they said there was nothing that they can do for me. I explained to her that I believe it was the way the table was made and even if they replaced the table, it would be the same. All I asked is if I could just get a credit so I can go back and buy something else that would not be as dangerous as this table and I was told no they could not do that.

They sent a tv stand the wrong color and it has been a nightmare trying to get them to pick it up and replace it with the right color. They keep telling me it's not in their district to deliver. And the scratches and scrapes has not been resolved either. You can never speak to a person due to the AI generated message. It's been a nightmare. Don't buy from Ashley furniture. I have purchased multiple items from Ashley Furniture in Houma LA and each time it has been a disappointing experience. I purchased a sofa about a year ago and they insisted I buy the extended warranty. The 1st one they delivered had a piece of the arm missing. The 2nd one had dry rotted fabric that kept tearing. When I contacted the warranty company they refused any service. I went into the Houma store to see about a refund on the warranty or another sofa and the 1st manager Mr. ** said he would give me the one in their breakroom. It was saggy, faded, and dirty. The other manager Courtney said she would get me a replacement sofa for my defective one. Week after week passed and every time I checked in with her she would make excuses.
The last time I went into the store this 400 pound lady sitting behind the sales desk scarfing down a bag of chips lied to me and said Courtney wasn't there but just a few minutes later Courtney called me saying she was in the store and would "check" on the replacement again. Again it was a lie. I am buying a new home with a $10,000 budget for furniture and I will not be going back to Ashley nor will I buy any Ashley product from other furniture stores. They just lost a customer for life.

I ordered a coffee table from Ashley more than 50 days ago. Even after over 15 days had already passed, I was told by the Richmond Hill branch that the delivery was only two days away. Based on that information, I expected the order to arrive shortly. However, I have now discovered that my order is scheduled to be delivered within the next three weeks, which is completely unacceptable. This shows that Ashley’s main goal seems to be selling products without providing any reliable or guaranteed timeframe. There appears to be no proper system, no transparency, and no accountability when it comes to delivery timelines. The information given to customers is misleading, and follow-ups are extremely frustrating. I am extremely unhappy with Ashley’s system and overall experience. Terrible customer services.

I bought my mother a recliner from Ashley WITH A $200 WARRANTY, within 4 months the chair would no longer recline (motor/switch?). Now I am in 'FIX IT HELL' with them. We are going on TWO MONTHS of repair hassles and still the chair is not fixed. First tech misdiagnosed, said it was the motor when it was the switch. You would think Ashley would then expedite shipping of the switch being we waited a whole month with the motor, but NOPE. Here we are going on Month Two and still the switch hasn't even shipped. I could literally buy a switch on Amazon and have it delivered in one to two days, but Ashley cares more about postage and getting the cheapest switch than fixing the chair in a timely manner. This company is Penny Wise Pound Foolish. Probably that is why they get bad reviews.
My mother IS IN ASSISTED LIVING she has to have her feet elevated. Now she has to lay in bed most of the day to keep her feet elevated on pillows, because her chair stopped working in 4 months and Ashley cannot get it repaired going on two months. I feel Ashley's customer service practices border on deceptive. I ordered a mattress with "free" bedframe only to discover that I still had to pay the taxes (over $100) on the bedframe. Then I paid for "white glove" service, expecting that the bedframe would be set up and the mattress placed on top. The bedframe arrived within a few days, but the mattress didn't come until nearly two weeks later, which means I had the huge box with the bedframe sitting in my apartment all that time. When delivery day finally arrived, I was given a timeframe of 1-5 PM. I was on my way to the apartment to receive delivery when I received a call at 12:45 that they were at my apartment and wouldn't wait longer than 10 minutes. Thankfully I was able to make it in time!
I also discovered that the "white glove" delivery only applied to the mattress, which meant simply moving the mattress from the front door and plopping it on the bedroom floor, without the bedframe assembled. Even after a lengthy conversation with a customer service representative (who claimed to "escalate" my issue to a supervisor), the charge for "white glove" delivery still appeared on my credit card (which I am currently disputing). Needless to say, Ashley is not getting my business again!

We purchased about $25,000 in furniture for a new home. We took the delivery on 10/28/2025. Some of the furniture arrived damaged (Dining table, dresser, nightstand), while other pieces (dining chairs) were shipped incorrectly. Our farm home is in a small town in the country, the replacement of the furniture has taken forever, because according the 3rd party shipper used by Ashley/City Furniture they can't just send a truck out with one stop to make. So they are trying to build a route. In the mean time we have gone thru the Holidays without our furniture. Sadly, Ashley relies on 3rd party shipper to do the domestic shipping, and the customer is at the shippers mercy. Other than agreeing to replace the furniture, no one at Ashley has escalated this with shipper. It is going on 2 months to get this resolved. So sit back and WAIT!

Sales process was great, but if you've got a problem after the sale forget about getting any help. We purchased a four power recliner sectional with two batteries. They sold us cables so that we could power two recliners with a single battery, but, they didn't give us the cables. Got a chat asking if we picked up the cables at the store. Replied back no and asked if we needed to. No reply. Delivery date getting closer so tried calling the store. Forget that. Got some answering service in some foreign country. They sent a message to the store. Never received a return call. The sales associate had written her number on the sale paperwork. Tried calling that. Left a message. No return call.
Drove 45 minutes one way back to the store. Associates sitting around everywhere on their phones, but, no one is available to return a phone call?? Got the cables they didn't give me the first time. Drove 45 minutes home. Delivery day comes. Delivery window is 5-8 PM. Really??? 8 PM?? They get there at 8:15. Takes almost an hour to set up the furniture and they can't connect two chairs to one battery cause you gotta have a splitter in addition to the cable. I looked online, there is a kit that has two cables and two splitters for less than I paid for just the two cables.
I drove back to the store to see if I could exchange the two cables for the kit. Nope. Can't do that in the store. I gotta call this number to do that. So, I called the number. Nope, they can't do that. All sales are final. No exchanges unless the store ordered the wrong thing. I gotta get the store to put a note in that they ordered the wrong thing. So, this means another drive back to the store. For another hour and a half out of my life, I just ordered the splitters I needed online. I figure another $36 spent was better than the continued frustration.

The sales associate at the Ashley store I went to said the Nectar Mattress I was testing came with Nectar's 365 day trial period. He even mentioned I could keep it up to day 364 and return it. That was the only reason I bought it, and I was a fool for believing him. When the mattress started hurting my shoulder, I first decided to get a Purple mattress directly from a Purple store because I'd heard great things about them, and then use this Nectar trial policy because of how much I'd believed this 365 day free trial claim. Big mistake.
Ashley would not budge at all. They first said to contact Nectar (Ashley owns them), then Nectar said to contact Ashley. Then Ashley said to contact Nectar again until I said Nectar told me to contact Ashley. They then apologized but could not give me any sort of clear answer until they emailed me days later saying they would make an "exception" and offer me an exchange thru their Comfort Guarantee program since they normally do not offer this for Nectar mattresses. What do they offer then? No exchanges or returns whatsoever if you get a Nectar, which again they own? Meanwhile, Nectar said if I purchased directly from them, I would have had no issue. Why buy from Ashley at all if this is their policy? Not even the Ashley store manager knew, which I find unreasonable. He threw up his hands and said their Nectar rep might know, took down my info, and then I never heard back from them.
After I was given this exchange offer, I called saying I wanted the trial honored like I was told it would be, and their customer service rep hung up on me when I claimed that the sales associate lied. I actually started doubting myself that he had mentioned the trial period, but my friends told me I mentioned this policy to them when I bought it because I was excited about how reasonable it was. And while yes, it is possible that he just didn't know, this is a critical piece of information to use when selling a $1000+ mattress so he absolutely should know.
The kicker? Even though I am apparently lucky to get the exchange, they have only given me 2 weeks to make an exchange and whatever I get is a final sale. Super reasonable (not). If they simply honored the Nectar trial like the sales associate said they would, I would probably still be a customer. The reps beside the clueless, stubborn, and completely apathetic manager were nice and helpful. But now I am pissed off, warning everyone to avoid them like the plague, and writing reviews here to warn more people. It's simply a terrible business practice that is losing customers instead of retaining them.

Updated on 12/20/2025: Received an email back stating DO NOT REPLY. They just shipped the parts and told me to install them myself. This is in no way acceptable.
Original Review: I purchased a couch and 2 bedroom sets in March. For delivery end of June. The day before delivery, Monday you everything had been confirmed for delivery, I received an email not even a call that the couch was delayed by 2 weeks. We had no furniture, we'd moved from out of state so I purchased so early for a reason. Thankfully a long phone call fixed that.
Then 2 months later the real issues began. The couch became sunken on side, like any all padding was just gone. We barely use the couch. On that same side when you recliner and then stop it will just kind of go a little further/fall/jump. It's hard describe but I emailed the warranty company, they told me it wasn't covered. Excuse me. Brand new couch and I purchased an extended warranty. Go to the store becaue this is not acceptable. Store gives me a phone number. I call the number. Talk to someone for awhile describing the problem. Then I was given ANOTHER phone number to TEXT. So I do all that and submit pics. Then I'm told I'll receive an EMAIL. At this point I'm already frustrated as all get up. This is October 2nd.
I hear back October 16th. Have to go through this whole picture nonsense again and describing the issues. Which is basically impossible because the camera doesn't show the falling back or just how nonexistent padding is when you sit on it. Don't hear back so in Oct 22nd I email again. Oct 24th I'm told claim received, 72 hour turn around time. It's been about 3 weeks now so I reply AGAIN to point this out. October 26th I get an email that parts are order. What parts? No one has even looked at the couch. They tell me the tech or someone knew what was wrong so they ordered parts. They'll be here in 2 to 4 weeks I'm told. Well it's been 2 months and NOTHING.
The parts being ordered without anyone actually getting eyes on the couch leads me to believe that they know they are selling a defective couch and just don't care. The couch is now half unusable. I really wish I had just returned it and everything when the couch was supposedly delayed.

Said because I didn't purchase a warranty they can't do anything. So in order for them to sell not faulty product you need to purchase a warranty. The product is 5 years old by a couple of months. Don't buy non quality bed frames from Ashley. Very poor quality. I already spent over 6,000. I could not afford any more money.

I bought a love seat and recliner on 3-22-25. The recliner was ok for a few days and then it became very uncomfortable. I thought it just needed to be broken in, but the issue got worse. On 7-22-25 I finally found a contact email for warranty issues. I was told to take pics of the chair. After they reviewed my claim, they agreed to send out new cushions. Said it would take 2-4 weeks, it took close to 8 weeks. Cushions were installed, seemed ok, but after a few days the issues were back. Contacted them again and was told new mech parts would arrive in 7-10 days. It's been over a month and they are not replying to emails. Filed a complaint with the BBB and attorney general.

I bought an Ashley Cannonbrook sectional through Furniture of Dalton and it was delivered on August 12, 2024. Within about 100 days of normal family use, the couch started sagging, the cushions lost their shape, and one of the main seams ripped open so the inside material is exposed. This is not what I expect from a new piece of furniture.
Furniture of Dalton submitted a warranty claim to Ashley for me. Ashley denied it as “normal wear and tear” and only offered filler and new casings with no labor. I then contacted Ashley directly and received a letter telling me to go back to the retailer, even though the retailer had already been denied and could not help me. Because of this, I have been left with a damaged sectional that failed in just a few months and no effective warranty support from Ashley. This has been a very frustrating experience.

Well now that I had an issue, calling over and over to get a person on the phone, my claims was denied. Something so simple, the foam on one of the pads (seating) was worn down and lumpy making the whole couch look unappealing. SO, I now read the contract more clearly and it COVERS NOTHING! I have a credit line with Ashley and have been purchasing from them for over 10 years. I went in today to buy two Emilia modular loveseats, which Ashley sells for $1,999.98 each. Before purchasing, I checked online and found the exact same item with matching SKUs on LunaFurn.com for $1,386.13. Buying two would have saved me nearly $1,300, and Ashley displays a large bold red “Price Match Guarantee” sign at the entrance with no fine print or posted exclusions.
When I requested the price match, the store manager immediately denied it and claimed—based solely on his “personal experience”—that LunaFurn sells damaged or used Ashley items. He provided no documentation, no policy reference, and no proof whatsoever. LunaFurn’s listing shows no disclosure of used or damaged goods, which would be legally required if that were true.
What makes this more disappointing is that every previous Ashley rep I’ve worked with over the years has always honored any reasonable request I brought in, including price considerations. This is the first time I’ve ever encountered this kind of dismissive behavior and unsupported accusations. The experience completely discouraged me from buying the loveseats or anything else. After over a decade as a loyal Ashley customer, this was by far the most misleading and unprofessional interaction I’ve ever had with the company.

Absolute trash company of the highest order. We bought a couch and a loveseat -- when it arrived, we found it didn't quite fit our living room (the couches together were a bit too bulky for the size of the living room). We wanted to keep the couch, but exchange the loveseat for a recliner. When we called customer service, they refused and said our couches fit the living room fine. They determined this from a photo we sent them. They straight up said, "No, you're stuck with the loveseat whether you like it or not, LOL." Amazing. We just spent thousands and thousands of dollars at your company, and you can't even exchange a loveseat for a recliner for us? We would've paid any difference if there was any.
Anyway, we had over 5 grand worth of Ashley stuff coming in another order (a mattress, bed frame, etc.), and we promptly canceled that order and spent our money with Mattress Firm. At least Ashley didn't get the rest of our money. I mean how stupid can you be -- if you exchange the loveseat for us, we're golden and you get another 5 grand from us. But you tell us no and cost yourself 5K. Genius customer service there, Ashley! Needless to say, we'll never do business with this trash company again, and we'll continue to tell anyone and everyone to avoid this furniture chain.

I purchased the Ashley Realyn bedroom set plus a couple of extra pieces and although the furniture is the style I wanted the offgassing after 9 months is still horrible. I have put the furniture in the sun as it was suggested, I left a fan in the window sucking the air out of the room, plus the ceiling fan going for months, I purchased a $900 hepa air filter/purifier that takes smell out of the room, but the minute I turn it down from the highest settings which is loud it can’t keep up. So 9 months later I am still sleeping on a trundle bed in another area of my house because of the smell. And knowing that formaldehyde is a cancer causing agent I don’t particularly want to be in there around it at all. So no, I would not recommend any of the actual products and I say that only because I also purchased an Ashley living room set and the dye came off on my clothes so they switched me to another color of the same style of furniture.
It wasn’t the color I wanted, but it’s fine however the first 3 months of having the first living room set it offgassed as well and I went through another 3 months of the 2nd set offgassing too. I did read someplace online that they at some point must have been taken to court over this issue because they were told they needed to do something about the excessive chemicals in their products. In October 2025 I bought a Sealy Posturepedic with the advice of the sales person and sales representative saying that the Posturepedic hybrid was good for side sleepers because it had zoned springs. Since I needed more hip and back support, I decided to try it. It was not good at all for me in fact, it actually threw my low back and hips out of whack twisting my pelvis. I went back to the store to pick out another mattress for an exchange and they informed me that I would have to pay a 25% fee if I did not keep the original mattress for at least 30 days. So I waited the 30 days and picked out another mattress that was slightly cheaper and all foam.
My request for a return was sent to their "Guest Services" department which no one really seamed to want to help me get the exchange done quickly. I had to send in all these photos of the Posturepedic in order for my exchange to be accepted. I phoned multiple times and and got a different service representative and had to explain the situation multiple times. I am very disappointed with the service I received and for the fact that I still had to pay an additional 15% of what I paid for the Posturepedic even though the other mattress was cheaper and any remaining balance would not be refunded. The tear is clearly visible in the delivery photos taken by the driver — I even circled it and sent multiple additional photos from my own phone. Despite this, customer service kept replying with copy-and-paste messages saying they “weren’t seeing any damage” and asking for the same photos over and over again. It was beyond frustrating. I had already provided everything they asked for, and the tear is obvious in every image.
1. Have a tech come out to patch the brand-new couch, or
2. A measly $75 discount to keep a damaged piece.
Why should I accept repairs or a small coupon when the couch arrived damaged to begin with? I paid for new furniture — not a patched-up or discounted item. This whole situation has been handled unprofessionally, dismissively, and with a shocking lack of accountability. I am now demanding a full return and refund because this has been a total joke from start to finish. They sent out a technician who took one look at it and told me, “That’s just soft cushions, not a defect. Nothing I can do.” Seriously? I paid $3,000 for a couch that looks like it’s already worn out on day ONE, and the best they can say is “nothing I can do”?
So I said fine—just come get it, I don’t want it. That’s when their Corporate Office hit me with the most unbelievable excuse: Because I purchased it in-store and not online, there is no return policy. I purchased a full bedroom set and a recliner from Ashley Home Store. When it was delivered, the recliner was the wrong color so it was sent back. They set up (paid for white glove service) the bedroom furniture and 6 of the 15 drawers (3 in dresser and 3 in chest of drawers) did not close correctly. One edge would be flush with the furniture and the other edge would stick out more than 1/4 inch. Makes them look crooked. Delivery guy called Customer Service (CS) and they said a technician would be out to adjust the drawers, no problem. The technician showed several weeks later and did very little, said he did not see a problem but called CS and ordered new rails for the drawers.
They mailed the rails to me a week and a half later and then I had to schedule the technician to come back out 2 weeks later. I stay home and he never shows. I called and they said he tried to show but I did not answer the door. He closed the ticket and charged me $30 for missing the appointment. Long story short, he was at the wrong house and they had to remove the fee. At this point, I requested to escalate the issue. We were months past the purchase and things were not getting better. They said all I could do was reschedule the technician. He arrives over two weeks later and starts replacing the rails, complaining the whole time he did not know why he was replacing them. He said it would not change anything and that it would only shorten the life of the drawers. Once the first drawer was done, it did not help.
He tried one more drawer and it would not close with the new rails so he put the old rails back on. I asked him to stop and he called CS and they said they would just replace the furniture. I still asked to escalate the issue. All they would do is schedule the delivery of the new items. Two weeks later ,the 'new' furniture was delivered, but was not in a box, it was just wrapped in a blanket. We looked at them in the road before they brought it in and the drawers were worse than the ones I have so I refused the delivery and they called CS again. Each time I complained about the drawers, pictures were taken and sent to CS. I again asked to escalate and they said all they can do is send another set out.
Two weeks later, the new items were delivered. I was assured they would be new in the box but they were not. Still just wrapped in a blanket and the drawers were still crooked. We are now over four months past the purchase and I have had two initial deliveries, the second was to bring the right colored recliner which was set up with a loose air connection for the massage feature. Three attempted and pointless technician visits and two replacement deliveries, where the furniture was just as bad, if not worse than the original furniture. They called the CS yet again and I said I don't want to waste more time having more bad furniture delivered. I asked for $500 off, which is a small percentage of the overall sale, for all the hassles, time and the quality issues. I also asked again to escalate so I could speak to someone higher up, but they refused.
They put me on hold and finally came back and offered me a $200 Ashley's gift card and said that was the best they could do. Why would I want a $200 gift card for the store where I got crappy furniture? I started posting negative reviews and Ashley CS reached out on social media. They wanted me to give them the original receipt from the purchase. I gave them my name and phone number and they said they could not look up my purchase that way, even though the call centers looked me up that way every time. After I gave them everything they asked for, I get a call from the call center asking me to call them back to schedule the delivery of yet another set of furniture. They just don't listen and don't seem to care when customers are happy. Do not buy from them.

Parts have been on order since August and every week I get a email or text saying parts on back order again and it will be another two weeks.. I don’t think they will ever fix my couch and they will keep pushing me off till I just forget about it and go buy something new somewhere else..
The worst part is you call and never get a manager or anyone that can help you. All you get is they are not available, they have gone home for the day in the middle of the day, in a meeting and they will have to call you back the next day.. Guess what you never get that call back or they say they called you a half hour ago but you never got a call and no message was left and the best one I was on the phone with them waiting for the manager when they called. I would stay away from Ashley’s Furniture and look elsewhere or go to a custom company.. At least they will be around if you need help or someone to talk to. Stay away

What really stood out was their positive attitude and teamwork. They worked seamlessly together and made the whole process feel smooth and stress-free. Quality is garbage and customer service just simply doesn’t care! They don’t even really want to talk to you. Instead they tell you to use the chatbot Jenny. Wall was damaged during delivery, dining set we has to order online because it wasn’t in the store. Was supposed to be gray. Instead it looks brown, too bad for us basically. Bedroom set has knicks all over it, pieces broke off, drawer not put together right, and the edge of the chest looks like it was dropped on the corner but I’m not worried because they are sending out a “master craftsmen” to fix all the damage.
Hopefully it’s not the same person who put my chairs together that aren’t screwed together all the way, has loose parts on them and has the stickers still all over the bottom of them. We spent 8 thousand dollars and we should have just went to Wayfair. Same exact quality but atleast Wayfair stands behind what they sell, Ashley simply doesn’t care. My wife asked me to pick up the pieces that were in and they were going to deliver the last piece the next week. I have tried to call the store and the number that they left on the text about the delivery and I just get an AI answering service that will not transfer to an actual human. I am very disappointed in their service. The furniture quality seems good and the price was reasonable but the rest has been awful. My mother in law and I went to Ashley Furniture in Stonecrest to buy furniture. She purchased a sofa and loveseat. We got home and I looked at the paperwork and pulled up the item numbers. We realized our salesperson had ordered the wrong furniture. She had told us that a sectional sofa could be ordered as a sofa and loveseat. What she did is ordered a completely different sofa and loveseat that was not even close to what we had agreed upon. I called and let them know. We went back to the store the following week and ordered different furniture. The manager told me she had worked “her magic” and shockingly the new price was exactly the same as the previous furniture we had been sold. Well I thought that was odd, so I went back over to look at the prices of the furniture we just bought.
The price the manager had charged us for the new furniture was $600 more than the actual price of the new furniture. That’s how she had worked her magic! She overcharged us for the new furniture. Unbelievable. I had them readjust the price. There was no “I’m sorry” or anything. She blatantly attempted to cheat us out of $600. She was totally trying to take advantage of a 90 year old woman.

I bought two counter stools for my kitchen, but right after assembling them, I realized they were too big for my apartment and didn’t feel right. They might look great in the store display or in a big house, but not for a small space like mine. I wanted to return them, but I was told it wasn’t possible. The only option was to exchange them for something else but only in the store, not online. I tried, but I couldn’t find anything that I truly needed or that made me happy. Most of the furniture was very large and heavy, which doesn’t fit my minimalist and light style. I also felt that customers who don’t spend a lot of money are treated coldly or ignored, which made the whole experience even harder. Anyway, I still wish your company success.

In August 2024, we purchased two couches from American, manufactured by Ashley. By way of background, we have been customers for 30+ years and in general, have been satisfied. It's where we purchased furniture. We have spent many thousands of dollars as customers of American. Now, one of these couches we use daily while the other is mainly for company. A few months ago, I noticed one of them appeared to be sagging on the ends. I called them. Since it was slightly more than a year and I learned that their warranty was passed and the manufacturer, Ashley, has no applicable guaranty either. They quoted around $500 to fix this piece of junk.
I asked about a discount if we elected to junk it and buy another. They have no intention of helping us at all. They aren't even embarrassed or apologetic! It’s very disappointing to find out after so many years of being loyal customers, they have no interest in helping us. I even had to pay $49 to have the guy look at it for 10 minutes. Clearly, the quality of their products is not good. Cheap stuff is sold at high prices to anyone who is not a furniture expert. A brand-new bed should never fall apart that quickly — it speaks to poor quality and lack of durability. When we contacted customer service, we were told a replacement part had to be ordered through the manufacturer and that we couldn’t fix it ourselves because of the warranty. Fine. But now we’ve been told the part won’t arrive until mid-November — and that’s before the repair can even be scheduled. So, we’re left sleeping on the floor for more than two months after paying for a new bed. While I understand delays can happen, this situation is completely unacceptable. For the first time, I made a purchase at Ashley Furniture for a loveseat. It looked nice enough, seemed well built, etc, but unfortunately it has been nothing but trouble. I received it in Sep 2024, and by about Feb 2025 (yup, only 5 months later) the power button on one side stopped working. I had a tech come to change it. Was good for another month or 2, and the power button on the other side stopped working. Again had a tech in to replace it. Then, only 5 months later, the cushions were all losing their density, so I had a tech come to replace both seat and back cushions. I did mention at that time that there was a very prominent squeak in the seat coils on the right side, but they said there was nothing they could do for that.
Now, the loveseat is just 3 weeks over 1 year old, and the worst thing that could happen, happened. The actually frame started coming apart on one side. The arm is at a slight angle and sits right on the floor, whereas the other side is straight up and down and sits almost 2" off the ground. I just got off the phone and video chat to show them what is happening but, because I didn't purchase the extended warranty, they will NOT help me unless I pay $75/hr service fee, which I cannot afford. So, I'm stuck with a loveseat that I paid almost $1,600 for and will probably be useless in short order. I might understand them not servicing it after warranty if it was the cushion or done other issue, but the frame(?!!!) You'd think they'd honor that when it's only a year old. The experience I’ve had with Ashley Furniture has been nothing short of appalling. Our couch was delivered damaged and stained with grease, an unforgivable offense for a purchase exceeding $3,000. I immediately contacted the store, only to be met with empty platitudes from the General Manager, Jordan **, who feigned concern merely to protect his “metrics” and avoid a chargeback. He assured me he was “handling it personally," until those metrics were safe, at which point he washed his hands of responsibility and told us to contact customer service.
What followed was a bureaucratic nightmare masquerading as a support process. My fiancée, already stressed from our relocation for work, was treated so dismissively that she was brought to tears. I had to intervene personally, and even then, every step was a fight. Now, insult is added to injury as we’re told we must wait for a technician to “inspect” the damage and decide if it qualifies for a replacement, as if the greasy handprints and dents somehow need expert verification. The entire ordeal has been a masterclass in unprofessional incompetence. For a company that charges premium prices, Ashley Furniture delivers bargain-bin accountability. I'm not a complainer, however shortly after getting the bed by back went out. While I like the bed, my back does not. It took a month to get the bed once purchased, and I was not sure what timeline to do this exchange would be valid.
I visited the store to explain my issue. A new rep was reassuring, made notes from my paperwork, taking one of the pages, noting on them and said he'd make sure the manager got it. Another week passed and I hadn't heard anything so I called the store and asked for the manager. A man picks up the phone and addresses me by name. "What seems to be your problem?" I can only tell you it went south from there. I'm left with the impression he wasn't too keen on me exchanging my bed mattress. Bad business practices, unprofessional and no accountability for their mistakes. Intended to order 3 barstools but sales associate actually ordered 6 by mistake. She ordered 3 boxes of 2 and charged as such (for those 3 sets)- it is clearly stated on the receipt that we paid for 3 sets of 2 each. We ordered the chairs for pickup and when we called to check on the order, we were told only 2 of the 3 chairs had arrived, but that we could go ahead and pick up the 2 chairs and they'd call us when the third came in. We picked up the 2 chairs and when we got home and opened them, realized each box had a set of 2 chairs so we ended up with 4. I checked my receipt and realized their error so I immediately called the store and told them we'd like to keep the 4 chairs but we don't need the third box that was on the way and requested a refund for the third box.
We were told that we were wrong and that even though the receipt said we paid for 6 chairs, they claim we only paid for 3 and that we needed to return the 4th chair (that we already picked up and signed for and came home and unboxed). Not only is that beyond WRONG but that is THEIR mistake and very inconvenient to expect us to bring a chair back to the store. The associate then offered to come to our house to pick it up after she gets off work (unprofessional and uncomfortable). After two weeks passed with no updates, I had to reach out myself(I have the text) to find out what was going on. That’s when I was told to call the distribution center, who informed me that the rug was on backorder and wouldn’t arrive until the end of October — almost two months later than promised.
When I asked Clark why this was happening, he said it was a direct ship from the vendor and that during the sale, he couldn’t see that it was on backorder. That explanation makes no sense. How can a company sell an item they don’t actually have, and not have any system in place to flag it? It’s frustrating that there seems to be no communication between the sales floor, distribution center, and vendor. After nearly two months, Ashley Furniture still has our money, and I’ve spoken with at least seven different employees in multiple departments trying to get answers.
When I went back to the store to talk to a manager, I asked to cancel and receive a refund and was given a phone number to call and cancel my order myself. No one offered a real solution or even an apology. I honestly feel like I was told whatever I needed to hear just to make the sale, but when it came time to make it right, no one cared. I purchased a sectional couch from Ashley Furniture a couple of years ago along with their Platinum Protection Plan. A few months ago, the frame on the chaise section broke. The protection plan company honored the claim and issued a store credit for that piece, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, when the replacement chaise arrived, it didn’t match my existing sectional. It sits about 4 inches higher, and after examining it more closely, I discovered that Ashley had changed the internal frame design. The delivery team initially told me it was just “new cushions” that would settle, but that was not the case. Since then, I’ve been going back and forth between Ashley Furniture and the insurance company for months. Ashley says it’s the insurer’s issue, and the insurer says it’s Ashley’s responsibility. Neither side is willing to take ownership or help me fix the problem.
At this point, I have a sectional that doesn’t match and two companies pointing fingers at each other. I spent a significant amount of money and expected better service and accountability. Did not know of this until I called for a time on September 26th. Delivery people never call 20 minutes prior as we were told they would do, but we were home. Was told the power lift chair would be delivered on October 20th, I have call every week checking on this date. So today was told that it may not be here on the 20th. This chair was the one we really needed. We now have no idea when we will be getting this chair that is already paid for. Very very unprofessional and very very frustrating!! Think again before purchasing from them.

I spent over 3k at this store and the after sale treatment leaves a lot to be desired! James the store manager at the North Freeway Outlet Store in Houston, TX doesn’t give a hoot about customers after the sale. He is rude and lies to you. He told me he would have my sales rep Stacy send my mattress topper today via UPS because the UPS driver had already left the store yesterday. Stacy was off yesterday so James said he would have her deliver the mattress topper today. I called today and was told that Stacy is off again today. James told the rep that answered the phone he never told me that UPS would be delivering my mattress topper. James didn’t bother to get on the phone to resolve the issue. I paid the delivery guy $310.00 to deliver everything together. James doesn’t care that I have to take my time and gas to pick up the mattress topper. My opinion is he’s not a leader and he is tainting the Ashley furniture name by his bad character.

This whole process has felt like a scam, time-consuming, stressful, and completely unnecessary. It shouldn’t be this difficult to make things right. We truly believed buying in-store would offer better service. Clearly, that was a mistake. No wonder people are turning to online shopping, at least there, poor service isn’t sugarcoated with false promises. No wonder their stores are not surviving and are closing down in different areas. Maybe just maybe, they will make things right when get loud enough. This is not how you treat customers. Customers deserve better and we expect our money back for something you took back. Hope one piece of furniture was worth losing so many customers.

Because he gave us the wrong information the company will not exchange the mattress. The mattress was for a 96 year old woman. Basically they said sorry but that they weren't responsible for John's mistake. Don't waste your money. My initial buying experience was smooth and pleasant. The salesperson I worked with was friendly, professional, and helpful. Unfortunately, the positive experience ended there. The real issue began when I received furniture that was significantly damaged. All post-purchase support has to go through an out-of-area customer service center, and that’s where things took a frustrating turn.
The representatives I spoke with were consistently rude and unhelpful, continuously put me on long holds throughout the call, and several representatives told me that they'd have to call me back to continue the exchange process but never did...this all made resolving anything feel nearly impossible, and my original desire to exchange turned into a desire to return. In an effort to get better assistance, I went back to the store in person, only to be told that they couldn’t help with anything and that all issues still had to go through the same unhelpful service center. Essentially, I am stuck with a rather expensive piece of furniture that is extensively damaged.
To be fair, the furniture itself, outside of the damage, is of decent quality. And sales personnel within the store at the time of purchase are friendly enough. However, potential buyers should know: if you encounter any problems after your purchase, don’t expect support. Unfortunately, customer service after the sale is where this business really falls short.

This is the first substantial problem I have had with Ashley’s. I forgot that I had signed up for automatic debit payments on my Ashley account and went ahead and made a payment for that month. When I realized that the automatic debit went through & my online payment went through for the same month, I called to see what I could do to get the extra payment back since I am widowed & on a limited budget. I was told they would send me a refund check, which they did. But the next month they debited an extra $25. When I called to see what that was about, I was told the refund they gave me caused the next payment to require an extra $25 to meet the minimum payment.
When I told the representative what happened, it didn’t matter. I was not going to get the extra $25 back because they were entitled to it. Which actually sounds like a scam to me. I realize that’s not much money but I will not do business with a dodgy company. There are too many furniture stores that actually care about their customers. Ashley is evidently not one of those. I will be sure to share this story with friends, family & social media as a heads up warning.

After three weeks, a technician came out and said he could not fix the seat cushion because it needed new upholstery. They placed an ordered, but weeks went by with no result. I called back repeatedly asking for a replacement or a refund. Finally, after 3 1/2 months of not being able to use the chair, Ashley replaced it with a new one. If I could give zero stars, I would. This furniture store absolutely sucks when it comes to standing by their products and honoring their warranty services. If you make the mistake of going into the store to purchase something, do not waste your time or money buying their warranty. In November 2022, my husband and I decided to buy a sofa at the Ashley store in Secaucus, NJ. We were told that our recliner sofa was all leather ($3,500.00) & we should get the $500 warranty because it would cover any wear & tear, like cracking & peeling or mechanical issues, so we decided to spend the additional money for the D model X protect 5 year worry free experience.
This past September, we walked into the store with pictures of some cracking & peeling that had occurred near the armrest of the sofa. We wanted to see if somebody could come and fix this as we were promised when originally purchased. The rep quickly informed us that they had a different warranty company, and that we would have to file a claim with that company. We did & about a week later we received an email denying our claim & stating that the damage to our couch was not covered. It was at this time that we learned that our couch was not all leather and that the section that was peeling and cracking was apparently faux leather.
Furthermore, would have to pay an additional insurance coverage of $99 for them to review the situation again to see if they would be able to service and repair our sofa or give us 50% of the full replacement credit. They also advised that if we were declined that we had one month to request the $99 co-pay, but we would not receive the full amount because they would deduct 10% for processing fees and any cost incurred for coming to see the sofa. So here’s my question what did I spend an additional $500 to insure?? In my opinion, Ashley Furniture makes money by lying to consumers and ripping people off! Furthermore, I wonder if this is going on in this specific area where there is a high volume of ** population, and they are trying to take advantage and discriminating against us!!

This oversight was frustrating, as I prefer synthetic filling and would have never chosen this couch had I known.
To make matters worse, after raising this issue, I was sent a replacement couch, but it was the wrong model. I had to scramble to find another replacement from a limited inventory, which added to my frustration. To compound the situation, the store manager was unavailable for four months, leaving me without proper support during this time. Only after finalizing the payment was I later informed that delivery would not occur until the end of October 2025. This constitutes failure to disclose material information at the time of sale and may be viewed as a misrepresentation of delivery terms. Under the FTC’s Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Rule, a retailer must ship goods within the timeframe advertised or, if no timeframe is specified, within 30 days. If the seller cannot meet this obligation, they must obtain the consumer’s consent to the delay or issue a prompt refund.
In my case, Ashley Furniture failed to comply with these obligations, leaving me with an unreasonable waiting period and no proper resolution offered. In October 2023, I purchased a sofa with a recliner from Ashley Furniture for $2,499.99, along with a $300.00 three-year in-home service plan to protect the investment should anything happen to the furniture. After almost two years of ownership, we requested an inspection because the fabric had begun to deteriorate, and the center backrest was defective. A technician named Ruben was sent to my home. During the inspection, Ruben noticed that we have a dog in the house and immediately claimed the defect was caused by the dog. I explained that the dog does not get on the furniture. He did not provide any evidence to support his claim and did not further comment on the actual defect. Instead, he stated that the fabric would not be covered because it was “normal wear and tear” and that the material itself was “not good enough.”
This explanation is unacceptable. The fabric damage is also present in areas that are not normally touched when sitting, which clearly indicates a defect in quality rather than use. Shortly after the technician left, I received a call stating that the damage was caused by the dog, based solely on his claim. I immediately objected, made it clear that I do not want Ruben assigned to my home again due to his lack of honesty and professionalism, and was assured this would be noted. I was then told that a part would be ordered and I would be contacted within 2–3 weeks for installation. However, about a week later I was informed that the vendor could not provide the part, that my service plan would not cover it, and that the insurance I paid for was essentially useless. I requested a refund of the $300.00 service plan fee but was told this was not possible because costs had already been incurred in sending the technician.
Instead, I was offered a $750.00 store credit, but only if I spent a minimum of $2,500.00 on a new purchase. This means I would have to spend an additional $1,750.00, on top of the $300.00 already wasted, and still be left with defective furniture. This “solution” is unreasonable, disrespectful, and demonstrates a lack of professionalism toward a paying customer.
To summarize: I paid $2,799.99 total ($2,499.99 + $300.00 protection plan). The sofa developed defects within 2 years. The service plan failed to cover the damage despite being purchased for exactly this type of situation. The technician provided a false and unsubstantiated explanation, blaming my pet without evidence. The “resolution” offered requires me to spend even more money to receive partial compensation. I am requesting a fair resolution to this matter. At minimum, I expect one of the following:
A full refund of the $300.00 service plan fee, orA meaningful repair or replacement of the defective furniture without additional cost, or
A credit that does not require me to make a disproportionate new purchase in order to use it.
Please also note for the record that technician Ruben is not to be assigned to my property again. I trust that Ashley Furniture/City Furniture values its customers and will take steps to resolve this issue promptly and fairly. Sincerely,

I was completely gaslit by customer service trying to get my refund for a bed frame that was intercepted. I ordered the bed frame 8/31 then after I measured and thought about it decided it wouldn’t fit so on 9/1 I called to cancel but it was already on the truck. So I had to wait for them to receive it back in the warehouse to get my refund but was assured I would get it once it was delivered.
I called the day after I got the notification that it was delivered back to them and was told my refund would be granted in 7-10 business days…after 14 business days I still hadn’t received a refund so I called, I was told it wasn’t processed and they would manually do it that day and again I’d get my money back in 7-10 business days…when I said I literally had this same conversation on 9/10 with someone so how could I trust them, I was told I never called. Annoying now to have to pay interest on a charge for something I returned 1 day after purchasing it. Get it together Ashley Furniture, do better.

In November 2025, we purchased an outdoor patio set for our new home and patio. In this set was a "fire table". We kept it covered all Winter and opened it this month to use it for the first time. We have only had it 10 months and the slides on the bottom of the fire table are rusted out. We contacted Ashley and they would do nothing; they said to contact the warranty plan we paid for (Diamond Care). Diamond Care refused to cover the rust. After many weeks of frustration, we finally settled for a monetary sum from Ashley, and we cancelled the lousy warranty plan for a refund. I will never buy furniture from Ashley again. Do not shop online and Beware if you are trying to return an item. Called to advise that I found a bed frame elsewhere before any shipping info was given, they shipped it anyway. When speaking with customer service on a Friday they advised Fed ex would pick it up by Wednesday, and nothing. I then called back and just told them to send me the label and I’ll drop it off. Guess what… I was turned away at two fed ex locations because they don’t take overside packages. Called again to escalate this because I’m done with the packages and shoddy customer service. They assure me it will get escalated, call again after the weekend and nothing has been done.
The customer service Rep ELLA had a bad attitude when I wanted to speak with a supervisor and was talking over me and just left me on hold, she should not be in this line of work, especially with frustrated PAYING customers, because I did keep other items from my order. She said I could not speak with a supervisor, so funny, I’m sure she’s not her own boss. Horrible business, go to Bob's. 0 stars would be a much better rating.

I have photo evidence from the very first day and I’ve submitted reports over and over again. I went to the store in person, I sent pictures, I called every number they gave me… and still, no solution.
The worst part is Ashley’s customer service just keeps sending me from one place to another without actually resolving anything. It’s been more than 20 days of complaints and I’m still stuck with a defective product and no support from the company. I do not recommend buying from Ashley at all: poor product quality and zero responsibility toward their customers. A frustrating and disappointing experience. If I could give zero stars, I would.

We chose to shop at Ashley Homestore in Wilmington, NC because it was the most cost-effective choice for us. We were anxious to pick out living room furniture for the home we had just moved into two days ago. We found furniture that suited our needs and tastes rather quickly and were pleased with our choices. We made an appointment the next morning to solidify financing and final purchases. Imagine our surprise when we found out one of the pieces we had chosen went from $299 to $799. Equally disappointing to find out we were not going to receive all the discounts we had been promised. Further added disappointment was the fact that our sectional would not be delivered until 4 weeks later! All of these points could have been brought up at the very beginning. Instead, we felt taken advantage of, lied to and misled. We will not be shopping there again, which is sad because we love to support local businesses.

Terrible Experience — Misled, Overcharged, and Problem Still Not Solved. In September 2025, I went to Ashley Furniture inside Mott Furniture and told the salesperson, James, that I wanted a specific fireplace TV stand, along with several other pieces of furniture. I was very clear about what I wanted — I even showed him the exact product in-store. He scanned the item right off the floor, and the invoice clearly states “TV stand with fireplace option.” I ended up spending several thousand dollars on my order, expecting to get exactly what I was sold. But when the items were delivered, the TV stand came without the fireplace. I went back to the store to fix the issue, and instead of helping, they told me I had bought the version without the fireplace — despite what the invoice says.
Now they’re saying it was a mistake on their part, but if I want the fireplace (the one I believed I already paid for), I have to pay even more money. They acknowledge the mistake but refuse to correct it. It’s now been days, and they still haven’t resolved the problem. This feels like a bait-and-switch. I was sold one thing, received another, and now they’re dodging responsibility. I would not recommend this location to anyone. Be extremely careful — get every detail in writing and double-checked, or you may end up in the same situation.

I purchased a sofa on September 12 for delivery on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. I would firstly like to complain about the delivery cost. For $99.99 delivery cost Ashley Furniture leave the furniture item outside the house. This is absurd. I have never experienced this before that the delivered item is left outside. A couple of hours after the sofa was delivered I unwrapped it to find that the back frame of the sofa was broken. I called customer service immediately on Wednesday, September 24 and they created a customer support ticket. They responded to me on Friday, September 26 informing me they are sending someone to fix the back of the sofa. That is unacceptable. I paid for a brand new sofa. I did not buy a refurbished sofa. The damaged sofa should have been taken back by your store and a new one delivered.
I immediately called customer service and informed them I do not want a refurbished sofa and I wanted to return the damaged sofa. They initiated the return and informed me in addition to the $99.99 I had already paid for delivery which I would not get refunded they were going to charge me $80 to have someone come and pick up the damaged sofa. That has to be the worst customer service I have ever received. So because they delivered a broken sofa they are saying I have to be out of pocket $180 for them to pick up the damaged sofa you delivered me. How does that make sense?

Upon my delivery date, we already know that we will have to wait for an extended period of time, and usually the window of time they give you is not accurate. However, I did expect my order to be accurate as instead of sending the sofa and loveseat, they sent me two sofas. My living room is not designed to have two sofas in it. So in calling customer service, it was set up for another delivery. I did not ask for a discount or the removal of any payments. I just ask for my loveseat to be delivered. I did ask to be the first stop on that delivery and I was told that was not possible.
I had already been inconvenienced one day and did not wish to be inconvenienced a second time losing an entire day off. Again they told me this was not possible so I canceled the order. I did decide to give them a second chance and ordered a bed frame online. I was sent an email saying that the shipping date would be September 21st. On September 23 I called to ask of the status. The purchasing experience at the Avondale AZ store was good BUT the return process for this company is horrible. We purchased and attempted to return two living room end table lamps, one of which we had received and one that had yet to be delivered. First of all, the phone at this store is seldom answered no matter what time of day you call or what day of the week it is. When they do answer, you are quickly referred to customer service. When you speak to them, if you can even understand them, they are not helpful. They can’t tell you where your order is, if there is still an order on file, where in the process your refund is or basically provide any useful information at all.
One time, we were told it would be 3-5 business days, then 7-10 business days. The one lamp was returned to the store Sunday, August 31st, when they opened. Both lamps were to be processed for refunds that week. As of today, we have received a refund for one lamp, BUT the other is still somewhere in their convoluted system, even though they were both paid for at the same time. They are quick to take your money and slow to give it back. One time we were told, “We can’t see the orders on our computer.” Next time it was “We can’t see the financial side on our computer.” What I’m saying is customer service is basically useless, the store employees are no better, and good luck to you if you buy something that needs to returned. My furniture had been removed in preparation for the new sectional. Ashley sold an item they did not even have, scheduled a delivery date for this imaginary furniture, notified me that the driver had arrived, claimed that the delivery could not be completed and that the driver had left, all the while knowing the driver never had the item on the truck, had never gone to the house, and that the item is not even available. I found it unacceptable and very unprofessional. Sectional Couch: Came with visible snags. Another technician visit.
Two Nightstands: One had a forklift-sized hole punched through the box and the back of the nightstand. The other was left upside down on our porch.
Bed Frame (Recent Fiasco): Box arrived torn open, padding was damaged, and then… the headboard arrived broken too. Missing screw receivers, unstable support—this piece literally can’t be used. Our mattress is now on the floor. Classy.
Every time, we’ve spent hours on the phone with customer service reps in overseas call centers who we can barely understand (not a racist comment—just a reality that communication is nearly impossible). They offer zero solutions and just kick the can another 48 hours. We’ve been in limbo for weeks. And the kicker? Not once has a supervisor called us. Not once. No urgency. No ownership. Ashley staff, including the store manager and regional manager, refused to give me a refund. Staff laughed at me. Further, a staff member came around the counter, got into my personal space, and said, "Let's go out to the parking lot". I asked him to back up and give me space as I backed up to create space. I am a non-violent old man! No physical altercation occurred, but I felt threatened.
Anyway, I did not get a refund. They also said that there would be a 30% restocking fee. This is the third time that I have dealt with Ashley stores within the past year or so. First, some of the formal dining room chairs that I ordered were broken. Second, they had the wrong railing for a bed. Third, is the failure of Ashley, and specifically the store in Mishawaka, to deliver the furniture that I ordered on 07/05/2025, with an estimated delivery of 08/08/2025. We picked out outdoor furniture- loved it and had a good delivery- THEN it all went downhill. I strongly advise you NOT to pay for the extended insurance or warranty on your furniture. Please just know that you will come out better keeping the money it costs and putting it towards any repairs you have to have on your own. Our dog had a urine accident that affected middle and end cushion on outdoor sofa (Beachcroft). For starters filing a claim in like getting shifted to 3 different people that you also can barely understand and then it took a month to get a technician out because they only come to our area but once a month. We had to take off work to be there during 8-5.
The technician was nice but it still didn't remove the stain after I checked it the next day. I reported it and finally after 5 phone calls, multiple places, it ended up that Ashley told me that the STAIN is covered but not the ODOR! WHAT???? That is like having an insurance policy on a car and having the bumper repaired but not being able to repair anything behind the bumper that was cause by the bumper being damaged!?? Makes ZERO sense. Especially since the core needs replacing inside the cushion itself. So, we could have it replaced ourselves with the money that we spend initially on the useless warranty! While the furniture is nice, the extended warranty is useless.

I purchased four barstools from the Ashley Furniture store in Palm Desert after researching them online and visiting the showroom. Three of the four boxes remain unopened, and one was opened only to discover the item was the wrong size. When I attempted to return them, I was told Ashley Furniture has an ALL SALES ARE FINAL policy and does not accept returns. At no point during the purchase did the salesperson or paperwork process clearly disclose this policy. We were rushed through the transaction, and there were no signs posted in the store making this restriction known. The website and in-store documents also present conflicting information about returns. Only after contacting the store did I learn about a hidden process requiring a “Notice of Dispute” buried in the fine print of Ashley’s website.
This is not what I expect from a major retailer. In today’s marketplace, virtually all retailers accept returns on unopened merchandise within a reasonable period. California law even requires “all sales final” policies to be clearly and conspicuously posted in stores. Ashley Furniture failed to meet that standard. Consumers deserve transparency and fair treatment. Unfortunately, my experience with Ashley Furniture was misleading and unnecessarily burdensome. I would not have made this purchase had I known the true nature of their return policy.
