I sent the first transaction of $900 and everything looked good until my wife went to collect the money. I was told to wait for 24 hours for them to process. I was patient thinking there was something going on but 48 hours later, the agent says it takes 24 hours to process and I see that your issue hasn't taken that long. She sounded like she was reading a script not answering my questions. Every time I called, it sounded like the same person with the same answer. Horrible customer service and lies. No explanations. Be careful dealing with this company.

Xoom looked so easy! I was able to fill out a money transfer in a matter of minutes. I needed to transfer money for a tour. The order was on its way, it looked good, until I got a message that my order was canceled. It turns out that because I am not related to this person or they are a friend, they would not allow me to make this order. I am so upset... They are a horrible company. Watch out!!!

After we opened Xoom account, & processed a small money transfer to my sister-in-law in Mexico, Xoom canceled our account without giving us any reason at all. So we assumed the transaction was canceled as well. (A rather logical assumption, wouldn't you think?) We went back to Walmart and processed the money transfer. We've been doing these kind of transfers to help my wife's family for many years at Walmart, never with any issues or problems - it just takes more time to stand in line & deal with the forms at Walmart. 15 days later, we got an email from Xoom that the money was not picked up!!! How could they continue to process a transaction after they closed the account, and never notified us??? I only put 1 star because a minimum of 1 star was required. XOOM'S POLICIES AND PRACTICES ARE UNETHICAL AND DISTURBING!

I am not sure what kind of verification they want to do and three days? I will never try to send anymore and will not refer any of my friends. Even it is little more service charge I would send money through Western Union.

Don't waste your time with this company. There are many other businesses that are willing to work with their customers, and Xoom certainly isn't one of them.

Been using Xoom for six (6) years since August of 2012. What I've read here happened to me too, however, if you just follow instructions and provide needed documents, Xoom approves your transaction. Xoom, so far, is the fastest, cheaper, and secure way to send money to 132 countries all over the world. No offense, if you just talk to the customer service nicely, they truly help you a lot. Wish everyone hadn't experience such with Xoom. More power to Xoom and keep up the good work!

Easy enough to sign up to use through PayPal. But once you're in and try to send money, you get barraged with emails and phone calls looking for verification. If you wanted verification to send $50 abroad, then do so on sign up or before taking my money. I can't exactly fund terrorism with $50, nonetheless I can understand and appreciate the need or desire to verify, but ask for it upfront, don't bait and switch me, to now make copies of my ID AND BANK STATEMENTS, and then put me on a call with someone I legitimately can't hear or understand. When asked to cancel my transactions, I now have to go to other departments, and still prove who I am, so that I can cancel a transaction I wasn't allowed to make? **. (:

Well, my relative visited 3 "authorized" Easy Pay providers in the town just to find out the security code is non existent and there is no sign of the transaction. One transaction was put on hold for verification. Asked them to cancel as I didnt want to wait for transfer verification. However, without any intimation they blocked my Xoom account too. When I asked them about reasons, they asked me to send several documents for verification. After sharing all of them they told me transaction cant be progressed. When I told them I dont care about transaction - just wanted to unlock my online account (that contains my own information). Without explaining any reason, they kept on telling me due apparent security reasons they arent able to do anything and my information will be secure! There is no way to complain or escalate either!!! In happy day scenario everything remains fine, when there are issues, Xoom has absolute useless customer service.

I can see from reading the other Xoom reviews that my bad experience with them appears to be pretty common. I thought the fact that they are affiliated with PayPal gave them some credibility, but NO. I had to call them to prove I am who I am, send in a photograph of my passport and bank statement, as well as answer many intrusive questions that were frankly none of their business. It was frustrating and humiliating. Why PayPal would have anything to do with this company baffles me.

I simply wanted to transfer money from my US bank account (savings from a job in the US) to my German bank account. It took XOOM 6 days (4 working days) to complete the transaction, I had to answer tons of questions, I had to provide many documents and information (even contract and paychecks of my previous employer in the US etc.) and I had to PHONE them at a US number with my German mobile phone, and was endlessly waiting in line which had cost me probably more money than a regular bank transfer would cost. Although I had registered with the GERMAN XOOM service.

On phone they were asking me question like, "Do you plan to send your family money, like your brother, sister or mother, do you plan to send money more frequently," etc. Stuff that really is none of their business... AND they had already received the money from my US bank while they were still asking me all kinds of questions... mailing me first that they will proceed with the transaction, then mailing me 1 minute later they will not raise the daily limit, then telling me 10 minutes later I had to phone with them... so I am very unhappy with the service, plus their exchange rate is lower than the actual rate and probably quite comparable with what regular banks charge you. Will never try that again.

Well, I wish I could even begin to describe the hassle to try sending money. On the website it looks so simple, but when you actually do it, you get hounded by numerous phone calls, emails to verify your information, I went as far as sending them my driver's license and bank statement copies. And even after all that they managed to deny the transaction saying that "system" wasn't able to verify my information. I have never been denied any security verification in my life. After being "banned" for ever sending money using Xoom again, I asked my relative to send it. Same exact outcome... It's totally ridiculous, as no explanation is given on why verification is not being met. Looking at the reviews I'm pretty sure they will not be in the business for very long. Definitely not the best decision by PayPal to get involved with Xoom. Very disappointing...

This Money Transfer is like everything else connected to PayPal. Greed governs every move. You can go to many other companies. Transfer money quickly efficiently and for a reasonable sum. Not with Xoom, they charge $19.95 per transfer, I don’t know any other service that even changes $10 or more. Then on the first transfer you will get called with 50 questions most of which are ridiculous. Then when you go to transfer again a few weeks or month later you are rejected with no explanation. So then you have to call, once again many more questions, put on hold, many more questions, put on hold then told you have to be transferred to a review manager.

Many more question, put on hold, many more questions, put on hold then I am told that they will not allow any more transfers until I mail in my most recent bank statement for review. Are you kidding me? I sent $245.00 and was charged $39.90 to send it by PayPal/Xoom. What an aggravating rude invasive rip-off. Do not go to Xoom for anything. I changed to Sharemoney. They charged me $13.90 to send $1,000.00, were polite, efficient and very user friendly. I deleted the Xoom app and would not go back to them if they offered their rude service for $3.

They have no right to question why I am sending money. None of their business. Just to avoid trouble, I gave them a reason and they sent me an email to provide them with my bank's latest Statement along with a Valid ID. I did and then they find an excuse that the information I provided is not current or clear. I asked them to be specific and then they sent back the same email repeatedly. I eventually asked them to disregard my request. Mailed out a check to Canada and walked away. Totally Useless company. Stay Away.

I am a long time PayPal customer and I was using this Xoom to send money to my Fiancée in the Philippines. I sent a $100 to see how long it took and everything was fine. I increased the amount to $1200 and received an email to call customer service. They then grilled me by asking a lot of personal questions about the purpose of the transfer. I understand about fraud but at the same time Xoom should only ask question to determine identity. The next day I received an email without explanation refusing the transaction and closing my Xoom account. In the email they virtually accused me or the recipient of fraud. Xoom needs to review their verification process. I will never use them or PayPal again. This is wrong on so many levels.

I have been using Xoom service since last couple of years. But today I found Xoom service is not at all secure. Let's say if anyone's bank details is disclosed for some reason then any 3rd person can use the bank details having account number, routing number and address. In fact if credit and or debit card can be used to do the money transfer and the worst part is, if that third person add your bank or card details and process the transfer then the owner will not get notified.

I realized this today and I tested the same thing to verify if really Xoom dont send OTP or any Authorization email or text. So yes nothing, this is the biggest blunder I can say. This shows that, if Xoom got hacked and all customer details leaked then it's really easy for anyone to process the transaction without having the PIN or two step verification. In addition, according to the new Laws such companies should be more strict especially if they are dealing financially. Customers and those who are not customer, anyone's money is at high risk.

Tried to send money to India. I had used Xoom many times before, but not recently. When I completed my transaction online, later I got an email saying to call Xoom for "verification" or the transaction would automatically be canceled. When I called, they said that they wanted to know how I knew the recipient, and I said that it was a friend. Lots of intrusive questions.

I canceled my transaction, but after Western Union wanted my password ID to my bank accounts online to send money, I called Xoom back, agreed to send it multiple bank statements that they specified. I told them about my previous Xoom transactions and gave them their tracking numbers. After four days and having sent 16 pages of bank account statements, I got turned down. (See attached image for the final email.) All in all, the experience will cause me to stop using PayPal. I'm looking for an alternative to Xoom, which I recommend everyone to stay away from. On the same day, the amount of money was deducted from my account & on the same day, I received several email correspondence (about 3 of them) saying that my transaction was completed. Unfortunately, it was not, till on 6/7, after I made several calls to Xoom because the recipient back in the Philippines informed me that they have not received the remittance. Xoom should have not sent an email to the me that the transaction was complete when it wasn't.

A bank to bank transfer is only complete if the money was finally transferred to the recipient's bank. What pissed me off was when Xoom further inconvenienced me by asking me a statement of my recipient's account showing that the money was not received when they could have just investigated it on their end. It took Xoom almost half a month (14 days) or 10 business days to finalize the money transfer which is the exact opposite to what they promise in their commercials.

The second $500 transaction was taking longer to process and received an email stating that there was "suspicious activity" and I needed to call. Called immediately and spoke to Carl; answered all security questions and he was going to release the transaction, but there was a 1-4 business day hold. I was extremely frustrated as there was not any mention that this could happen prior to the answering of their security questions and sitting on hold.

I was on the phone for over 40 minutes and spoke to 3 different employees, the last was the floor supervisor Elena. Elena asked for a copy of my bank statement and I told her no and that I thought that was an inappropriate request. I offered to pay with a credit card, but stated that I was only going to authorize the $4.99 fee as this was an Xoom issue and not mine. Elena flat out refused and stated that she cannot authorize it and I could either cancel the transaction or pay the additional fee. I cancelled my own transaction and let Elena know that their lack of willingness to compromise has severed any future transactions and they would've recouped their "loss" quickly as my husband sends money weekly. The call was on 5/30/18 approximately 9:45 PM EST and spoke with Carl, Renee, and Elena. The last question asked was whether I planned to use the service again. I said I anticipated using it a couple of more times and probably weekly for the next few weeks. I tried to use it again today (a week later) and the person was very suspicious of my answers and wanted to know, how I knew this person, had I met him, why was I sending him money and wouldn't approve the transaction even after I repeatedly answered all the questions including the one about when I'd be using Xoom in the future.

She first wanted an exact date and transaction amount for future use and said I wasn't sure but probably in the next week and for around a certain amount. I asked for the supervisor who gave me the run around and then said she couldn't approve until she saw further documentation even though I only wanted to send less than $500. At this point I became very uncomfortable since one website said Xoom only requires documentation for much larger transactions than what I was making. The customer service was extremely primitive and unprofessional as well as frustrating and time consuming. I felt like they thought I should be lucky they are providing this service to me. I sent money through Xoom to Dominican Republic, the transfer was made on March 15th, the transfer still two weeks later had not been completed when I called, their supposed compliance department has no type of formal training. It looks like because when I call in two weeks later is when they politely informed me that my transfer was delayed because they need some further documentation, annoyed and needing to complete the transaction I sent the information requested. They stated I would be called if anything else was needed.

On April 3, 19 days later I call back because my receiving bank informs me that the transaction was not received. The representatives had me about 3 hours on hold. No one knew or had any concrete idea as to what was going on with my money. Then I was told that an email was sent out requesting another form of ID because my ID was going to expire, not that it was expired that is was going to expire, I sent in my renewed temporary ID and was told that it was not valid, which is still baffling because in it is considered valid in all 50 states in the US and it is a government ID. I am still working to either receive my money to my bank account where it was initially taken out from or to my receiving bank.

This is ridiculous how Xoom has played with my money, and when you want to call to make complaint about the poor service customer service transfers you and no one is able to do anything. It's unbelievable, if this situation is not resolved soon and someone puts some urgency on my case, my next step is contacting a lawyer and never again using Xoom as a money transfer service or anything else in that matter. I have been a loyal customer for a bit now and have even pay for my bills in Dominican Republic through Xoom but with this issue and their lack of professional courtesy and actual customer service, I do not think I will be using them any further business and would not recommend them to anyone else that has to send money overseas.

Xoom does not take it seriously and said they were unwilling to launch an investigation or send me a report. There were also no transaction numbers in my credit card statement, which made this very hard to resolve.

EVERYTHING you read here from others is correct, true. XOOM is just the worst experience; IT DOES NOT WORK, and I provided everything it asked for and they (Philippine call center) keep coming back with the same need for the SAME verification and they ask the same questions over and over such as "How will the recipient use the money you are sending?" What kind of question is that?

Additionally, it sent me an email confirming that its verification process for me, my new account, was complete and approved and I could start making transfers. I was cautious enough to try only $150 as a test run, and all of this was over $150!!! Dealing with XOOM is sort of mind boggling. I don't think it will be in business long if it will not process and send $150 without the same questions over and over and over and over AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED! Want to waste your time and give your personal data to a company that who knows what will be done with it? Use XOOM.

Wow, what a complete disappointment. I tried to transfer approximately USD$1,500 to The United Kingdom. They held my transaction pending verification. To verify, you have to call them, then you are put on hold and finally connected to a script driven call center in the Philippines. They interrogate you about who (Do you really know this person), why (why are you sending them money) and when (are you going to send more money in the future). Then they put another hold on the transaction requiring that I send them -- via e-mail -- a complete copy of my US Passport and a copy of my most recent Bank Statement to verify that I had sufficient funds to send $1,500.

I tried to "understand" their concern, especially as my transfer was coming directly out of my Bank A/C. If I did not have sufficient funds, the transaction would not process anyway. After I faxed them the required information they then asked for a complete copy of all pages of my passport and the actual bank statement I receive--I gave them a screenshot which was apparently not good enough. In the end it was easier for me to make a Bank Wire Transfer--although more costly--than to try and deal with the Xoom personnel. Just a waste of time effort and energy. They treat you as if you are some sort of criminal. They have no sense of customer care. I would never, ever, use them again. Even Western Union is better.

At first I gave my address, recipients name, e-mail, etc. Then they wanted to know how many times I would be sending money. I said, "I don't know - what does that have to do with anything?" How the hell do I know if my son will need money again. Then they kept asking me why I was sending my son money. What the hell? He's my son. I kept telling them that - that he lived in Berlin and was short on cash (he always pays me back). That wasn't good enough for them.

I told him I loved him so I sent him money - LOL - good grief. They would not accept that answer, and then wanted even more personal information. Not a chance in hell they are getting my bank statement. Shame on PayPal for pushing this service, when I didn't want to use it in the first place. I understand making sure people are not scammers or thieves, but they pulled my information from PayPal and my bank account numbers, and I have been a daily user of PayPal - verified - for 20 years. This seem not legitimate to me, and I told them to cancel it, and I won't be using Xoom again. Who knows who is stealing my information in the Philippines or wherever.

The 4th time happened to be the next day and it says there is a delay and will take 1 to 4 business days! On their website as of 2014 they claim to have instant transfers 365 days a year even on holidays to ICICI banks. Yet for the past 2 days I have had experiences quite the opposite of their claims. Also just for clarity sake the amounts of the transfers were not unreasonable, the first being $100 and the second being $200.

For a service that claims to allow up to $10,000 at a time, they shouldn't make send a few hundred when needed so difficult. Also this bank account is the same account that I have always used and my Xoom account is the same as my PayPal account which has a long history with this bank account. Xoom should review their policies and not give their longtime customers reasons to use other services. Also don't bother contacting customer service. They canceled with no notice until I called yet again. They would not tell me why they canceled. Worst experience ever. This service is a joke. I have had a PayPal account for decades and all is verified and active and they said it does not matter - only their review matters. So what use is PayPal??? Tried to send money to the Philippines on behalf of my aunt, received an email that it was placed on hold so I contacted their customer service, and so the representative told me that sending money not from personal bank account is prohibited, which I understood. Second time, tried to reload a phone in the Philippines, and right after clicking authorize, I receive an email stating that my transaction was canceled. Got on the phone again with Xoom and was transferred to their verification team. They told me they couldn't verify my account and had to cancel that one. So I appealed and asked what we have to do to have the transaction done, and they asked me to send bank account statements and a government ID. I also showed my debit card to prove it was mine. Got an email saying they still can't verify my account even after sending them these documents.

So I asked what else can we do to lift the restriction on my account, and I asked for an appeal. Representative told me on the other line that my case will be taken to the HQ and their decision will be final. 3 hours later, I receive an email that they still can't verify my account! I have asked them what their verification process is and what I lack to prove that the transaction is safe, but they only say that they can't give that information as it will compromise their process. I called 3 different times and spoke to 6 different representative who I know are just doing their job... But to see the amount of negative comments on this section, Xoom has to step it up. To this point, I don't want to make a fuss about it because it's just stressing me out, but I'll be trying to send out through them again soon. If they would still disappoint me, then so be it.

Not worth even one star. Wife uses Xoom to send overseas for family medical, realty taxes, living expenses, etc. 99% of the time never more than 400 dollars at a time, once a month. Now that most have passed, she may send 400 dollars once every 6-12 months. Here is how the experience goes--EVERY TIME. Go online and send money. Indicate you want cell phone text confirmation. No text confirmation shows up. After 1 or 2 days, family calls to ask what's up. We get online to try and find out. ACCOUNT IS LOCKED. Call customer service and spend 20 to 30 minutes with 1 or 2 representatives who ask several dozen questions to verify wife is show she says she is. Then, transferred to someone in security who basically asks same questions and more "for security purposes" including WHAT WILL THE MONEY BE USED FOR. HOW IS RECIPIENT RELATED TO YOU. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

All for a measly 400 dollars??? Each time??? THEN, they call our home to confirm phone number. Finally, they might send the money. We have gone through this process before, were told they would send the money, and then find out they never did. Had to call again and go through the SAME process. TOTALLY WORTHLESS. Xoom now advertises that you can send 10,000 dollars each time. Bull. I would like to see it.

Out of 8 attempts to use Xoom, 7 were cancelled by Xoom for no reasons whatsoever except they did not pass their scrutiny. I completed all 7 of these transactions with Western Union in a matter of seconds after. I used Xoom because their charges were less and funds would have come out of my bank account instantly rather than either using a credit card with Western Union or waiting 4 days. I have spent hours on the phone with their staff, including supervisory personnel, all offshore and all with heavy accents. And none were helpful in the least. I assumed incorrectly that with flawless credit, one of the highest FICO scores possible and lots of funds to cover these transactions, and being a PayPal customer for years, that it would be a snap. Instead all but one attempt was a complete bust, for reasons never explained except to tell me that their review of the requested transaction did not meet their criteria for a safe transaction.

They allow you to send a couple of thousand (like 2000) without a problem. I even told them from the first transaction that I was only trying to pay someone back from money they loaned me for a house down payment of about 6000. But then after the first 2000, they make you send them your ID and bank statement. After they see it, they turned me down. I think it was because I sent them last month's statement so they didn't see all the deposits I made since then. So I guess they thought I didn't have enough funds but I doubt they even looked at the dates on my statement. So instead of asking me for my more recent statement showing the money, they just turned down my transfer and that was it. They really suck. Would NEVER even try to use them again!

I had to send too much info to validate who I was. In some respects I can understand ensuring clients authenticate their credentials, but I submitted several forms of documentation that had the same address and account information and still that was not enough for them to make a decision. My instincts tell me to cancel my account and from the other reviews regarding transference of funds, the delays and unauthorized withdrawals...

This company is not reputable. This is not over for me, because I will contact PayPal and inform them of this bad service. (I'm talking AFTER the $ left bank account & entered theirs.) It's supposed to be immediately, & they require credit check, State ID, SS #, copies of bank statements etc & some do go thru before clearing account. But out of 5 or 6 transactions, it is rare.

They take auto drafts from account, then just sit on $. When you call they say "It's in Clearing House." - Whatever that means. Could understand 5 days if I was borrowing, but not. They had the $, just don't pay. Don't get caught in their game. When I spoke with a supervisor, she kept rolling down a window (to smoke?) & when I would complain of the wind, she would instantly roll it back up really fast. Kept doing it. They needed some documents to validate the transfer: identity proof (passport/visa), bank statement for bank account verification. First of all, I did not know that the verification is needed, it wasn't mentioned anywhere on the Xoom website, so the first transaction was canceled.

Now, this is the most stupid, ridiculous thing that happened when I tried the transaction again and I provided all the documents for verification. They came back to me saying that the documents don't match and they are not giving me any reason. How can the documents mismatch if the receiving person is the same as the person who is sending the money? And all the documents I provided prove that I am the right person and the account I am sending money from belongs to me.

On top of all this, because of this ridicule, I wasted 7-8 days in a single transaction and the $ value went down enough that I have an overall loss of 5000Rs or 78$ which does not even include the loss I have had because I wasn't able to send money back to India on time. Now, the only good thing out of this: I can't use XOOM at all which I would prefer not to in future.

This was an incredibly difficult and time-consuming process. I tried to make a transfer and did not receive immediate notice that I needed to verify the transfer within the time period, so the first attempt to pay rent was cancelled. I tried to make a second transaction and verify it, which was during the time I was already abroad. I called their 'outside the US' number but was then transferred to their 'verification department'. The department hung up on me after approximately 3 minutes.

I then called that department back with the number the first person had provided, and was informed that the verification department number was not toll free. So I paid 20 cents per minute to be on hold for long periods of time and answer questions I could have answered electronically. After all of this, they still needed me to submit my ID and a bank statement via email (??? why not through the app or website??). They also of course charge a fee for both currency conversion and the transfer itself, so my rent has overall increased by almost $50 a month.

That was the first time I ever received that message, so I told my niece to wait and see what's gonna happen, she got the money after 4 days.

You can't complain because even though they advertise transfers in minutes... somewhere down in their looong User Agreement it says, "We may not transfer in minutes." Now I am stuck. Reloading my bank page on browser like an idiot for past one hour so I can tell them how much money I sent to speed up the process.

This is the most stupid and unprofessional practice I have ever seen. Reading the user agreement I now see that not only I am screwed... I am actually stuck with my pants dropped because I cannot cancel the transaction. Even if I cancel my transaction they MAY still charge my bank and will return the money after up to 4 business days. They explain to me that the reason why it will take 1-4 day to send the money, it was because the bank haven't paid then so I said, "Ok I understand that so cancel my transaction due that is a emergency. I will send this money with another company." So the customer services said if I cancel the transaction I will have to wait 1-4 day for refund so I said, "what refund? You just said xoom haven't get paid by my bank. I need that money to get send out for emergency."

So the lady said the best way to send out money thru them is by using a credit card but I think they charge too much for credit card transactions is over $20 dollars. I think am already paying too much for money transfers when there is agency that send it for $10.00 dollars. I was willing to paid that extra money for the convenience that I don't have to get out of my house but the fact that I have to wait 1-4 day for them to send out my money is not convenience and the worse part not able to cancel my transaction overall. As l recall, l never was asked the reason why I was sending money to my relative or friend and when we talk about 50 or 70 dollars how in the hell can somebody be asked why you send that type of amount. l have never been asked how often did l send money to my relative or friend, because honestly that is not a kind of security question. l have never have any transaction cancelled after being approved by Xoom. l have never been asked for long exactly do l have such account. For me that is irrelevant and is not a security question. For me security question is, your social to match the one they have in case that asked that information.

When a client opened the first time that account, or the normal security question that they ask you and they keep in record, the name of the person that client send money. Well all those painful experience l lived with Xoom, and honestly before this company belong to Paypal it was easy and smooth. The last 4/26/2017 I sent to my nephew in Dominican Republic, $65.00 plus 4.99 transaction fees totaling $69.99. As always they asked you if you want to be notified via text messages which l always see very convenient to avoid. Sign into the site, and especially l am working, well everything went smooth, and l did that transaction early in the morning about 2:23 am. Since l worked night shift, l spend most of the night when l am off awake in the night time. And that previous night l was off, so l never put any attention after l made the transaction.

But about 8 pm in my break time l received a notification from my nephew asking me when he was going to receive the money. Well it was strange because they used to delivery the same day. But l told him, "Probably you will receive it next day or the 4/27/2017." However l went to the Xoom site to recheck the status of that transaction, and for my surprise they did not give me access to the site. My password was blocked and for more l tried, it was impossible. Well l decided to renew my password using the option l forgot my password. Of course they sent me a confirmation and a link to reset my password. l did it, they gave me a new password, but guess what? l could not access my account either. So l tried to reset it again, and when l check my email that tried to reset it, they redirect me to another page which suggested me to call customer service to ask me some security question to deliver my transaction.

Well as a good soldier l called the number. It was in Spanish, so as l am Native Spanish speaker it was not problem for me, and l chose that language. Well, that was the beginning of my painful 20 minutes l have ever lived with a customer service. At first it was very kind, but then this representative became impossible. l said impossible because when customer service rep. ask you these question to confirm your identity it is obvious that they don't want to resolve your problem.

And this were the questions he asked me, l mentioned them above, but l am going to mention again, the name of the person l send money which is a very secure question. How much money l sent which is another secure question. This question listen to this question, "Why was the reason l was sending this money?" That is ridiculous. That is to my concern very personal and only that the client is investigated for the FBI ABOUT HIS FINANCIAL situation. Any institution or business have no right to ask those type of question. Another question was how often do l SEND MONEY TO MY COUNTRY? WHY they asked that question? Another stupid question my relation with the person l am sending the money.

Finally he asked how long did l have my account with them. Of course how could l remember such information exactly. Well then he told me that I did not pass the security question and the transaction was going to be cancelled. He did not asked me my social, or the question about my mother that they have in record. In my opinion they look like they want to kill their own business, but worst they are humiliating the client to do that.

In spite of my misgivings from reading numerous recent bad press, I attempted to use Xoom, since I already had a paypal account and have always had great service and support from paypal. Trying to use Xoom is the opposite experience, and I would encourage Paypal to disassociate from Xoom as soon as possible; they are a stain on Paypal's otherwise good reputation. I attempted to send money to friends in Honduras, from my bank account to their bank account. Part was to help support a student trying to attend a trade school there. Part was to help friends start a local organization to promote local made goods. I know these people personally, so no worries on my part. The transaction was held up, requiring me to speak on the phone with a Xoom rep. who explained there were potential "security issues" with my transfer.

After giving all of my personal Paypal info to them, as well as info about my friends to whom I was sending the money to, I was asked what was the purpose of sending them money?!? In the process of explaining what it was for (as if it's any of their business) the word NGO came up in the conversation, at which point I was told that it is not on their list of approved reasons for a money transfer and my transaction would be cancelled. They would not give any further explanations as to why, and/or provide "approved" reasons for money transfers. I protested, and was told my transfer/protest was being sent to their review committee for further security measures, and "they would get back to me". The rep would give no other explanations or refer me to someone else who could explain this bizarre scrutiny of something so simple.

I never have had issues with WU, Worldremit or anyone else doing a money transfer and felt this was wayyy over the top, and too weird to put up with. I cancelled the transaction myself, and checked that the money had not left my account. This company cannot explain anything they do, nor can they resolve issues they have initiated; I would stay away from them and go to their competitors for more hassle-free experiences and much better customer service when they do create issues. There is no need to put up with this. It is beyond me why Paypal added Xoom to their portfolio of services, when they are a dog of a company that does nothing more than provide poor service and create anger and resentment among customers...

I was not aware that Xoom is not to be used for business transactions and that the standard European reference field cannot be populated so, that was a mistake on my end. I transferred USD 1,600 and due to the reference not being transmitted, the receiving bank could not allocate my credit account and reversed the transaction.

This has been 3 weeks ago. Since then I have called the customer service 6 times and inquired about the process, the status and what I can do to expedite the refund. In a nutshell: NOT RESOLVED, UNCARING SERVICE AGENTS and BEING LIED AT. I understand that Xoom utilizes an intermediary bank in Europe, I also understand that they need to get some confirmation/documentation from them. What I do not understand that for three weeks I am being told that they wait for feedback from that bank. No one can tell how or who is following up and whether it is being escalated at some point. They tell me that if they do not hear back after 30 days, the refund will happen automatically and I think they rather wait for that but being of service for me.

I asked 5 service agents that I would like to receive some update by mail or sms text about the status. And if the status is still "we are waiting", then I am not thrilled but at least I have received some confirmation. They all promise that an update will be actively provided within 24-48 hours and in NONE of the 5 cases did I actually receive anything. I always had to call back, tell the whole story again, have them look up the case and then hear that they are waiting.

When I ask when someone had last reached out to the intermediary bank they do not tell you until you get upset and then you find out that no one had followed up for days, even though they claimed that someone "just did that". One agent told me that the system is down for maintenance and that they cannot see any case data - but when I complained a bit, they suddenly had all case details available - just no idea on how to escalate this. But all promised I'd get an update within 24-48 hours.

I escalated to supervisors and managers but they are all trained the same way and not willing to truly help you. I am so done with this service. Once I have my money back - not expecting it to be there before the 30 days are up, if I am lucky, - and getting ready to sue on day 31. They lost me as a customer and 4 potential customers during those 3 weeks because we expats are well connected.

I have been using PayPal and XOOM for a while. They are both quick to take your money and trap it and then put all sorts of blocks in front of you to not let you take the money out. In several cases once they got my money; getting it out became a nightmare. They don't give straight answers and transfers that they advertise to take 15 minutes can easily become many days! Remember this; they will provide sweet customer service, sugar coat you with lip service and TAKE YOUR MONEY. Once they got your money; they will send your recipient an email letting them know they are processing a payment that will not happen for days.

This company is unethical, simply because they deliberately hold back information and will not tell you beforehand their real requirements to send money, UNTIL THEY GOT YOUR MONEY! I have no respect for leaders of such organizations or their staff. Because they played me and my friends and family several times and they do it with millions of people every day. A simple dirty policy; GET the money quickly, RELEASE it as slowly as you can! I will not use XOOM ever again. To me it is a NASTY MONEY TRAP.

I did that --- TWICE. 3 days later they say the bank statement AND passport are illegible. I just told them to go to hell and canceled the transaction altogether. I logged into my account two days later to see if there was a record of the transaction. There was no record. No money came from my bank. I submitted the form again with a single click. I immediately received a text confirming the transaction. I thought for sure that the first one never went through. I then received a text saying the money had been delivered. I thought all was well, but then two days later I received another message saying my account was suspended and my bank had denied the funds.

I called Xoom and they said two payments of $500 were sent and the second one was delivered but had not been paid by me. They said I had to pay $511 right then and there was nothing I could do to reverse the payment. I told them I never meant to send two payments and they said they could do nothing for me but if I didn't pay I would be taken to collections and my credit would be damaged. What a terrible business. Their interface sucks. I double checked all my texts and emails including spam and verified that they never sent a confirmation or tracking number for the first transaction. The woman on the phone insisted that they did send the messages. I hate this company. Send your money with someone more honest and reliable.

I had a terrible experience with this company. I had a family emergency in my home country that required me to conduct a money transfer. I initiated the transfer like I had done numerous times before, with the same information. My family members went to one of the pay locations only to discover there was a problem with processing the transaction. I contacted customer service and was transferred multiple times until I reached the verification department. The representative took my account information and told me that they would call me right back.

No one ever called so I called and repeated this process again with the same result. Even with me explaining I needed someone to tell me what the problem was because my family traveled a great distance to get the money and needed to return to their homes. I even asked if they were worried that someone was fraudulently using my account I would send any documents to verify that I indeed authorized the transaction. I was told that they needed to check some things and call me back. This happened four times over two days until I told them to just forget it and I would no longer utilize their services anymore. Within a few minutes I received a text message requesting that I verify the transaction. I provided the security code in the text and they were unable to rectify the situation. I then had two more conversations in which they requested a copy of my bank statement and government identification.

I understand the need to prevent fraud but this is poor customer service! They could have simply told me what the issue was and what they needed in order for me to rectify it the first time that we spoke. Instead I was told numerous times someone would call me back and never did while my family sat around waiting on money they needed. They failed to rectify the issue so finally I decided to utilize a different company that offers Money Transfer Services, much cheaper and reliable. The process was swift and my family received the money quickly. I will never use Xoom.com again. This company is pathetic and poor in customer support. They don't know how to fix their problem. They just want to take your money.

I signed up for Xoom 3 years ago after dating a woman in Mexico and needing to send her money while I was here in the States. I was wary sending money electronically but they called me to scrutinize who I was sending money to, my relationship with the person getting the money, and why I was sending money. Once they agreed that my reasons were true and legit, the money transfer went through very quickly and I was very satisfied. I made several transactions over the coming months with that girlfriend.

We broke up and I had a new girlfriend also living in Mexico that I helped financially. No issues, I continued to be happy with the fast delivery of money. We broke up and then I was in Mexico with some friends about a year ago and made an acquaintance. Several months later this friend asked to borrow some money and I transfer a relatively small sum of money with no questions or issues.

The original girlfriend and I get back together and I need to send money for an emergency and was immediately denied with an e-mail stating in part "Customers may not use Xoom's service in violation of Xoom's User Agreement. Additionally, sending money to a recipient who has violated the User Agreement..." Very intentionally vague! I asked for clarification and got no response. I tried another transaction and it was immediately declined so I called. The woman referred me to the e-mail. She was even so kind as to forward back to me the e-mail I had sent asking for clarification to which there was no response! I asked her for a response to my questions looking for clarification. Nothing. She said she would send my case to appeals and their response would be final.

"Pursuant to the User Agreement, Xoom may discontinue the Service without notice... Sending transactions to a recipient who has violated the User Agreement can also affect your ability to use Xoom." So... no further information. There is nothing that I know of that I did to violate anything and there is nothing THAT I KNOW OF that any of my recipients did. But I really don't know. They won't provide any further information.

Until this, I was happy and satisfied. But... they're unreliable if they are going to pull BS like this. Look into Western Union or Ria or Money Gram or Venmo or even wire transfers through your bank. I'll never use Xoom again, will never suggest them again, and will do everything in my power to let anyone who lives in the US and is looking to send money back home know how very much Xoom SUCKS.

On 02/14 when neither I or my family member had yet received the text indicating the funds were ready for pick-up I logged in to my Xoom account to check the status of my transaction. The status of the transaction revealed that my wire transfer would not be available for pick up until 02/21/17. A full week after the transaction was initiated.

I called customer service and the agent, after placing me on hold 3 times, tells me that I will receive an email with the options available to me in reference to my transaction. When I asked her why I had to wait for an email instead of her reading from her screen what my options are, she could not answer me. When I asked her why Xoom did NOT inform me during the process of generating the transaction that the funds would take a full week to be made available, she could not answer. The only question that she was able to answer was how long it would take to have the funds reimbursed to my bank account, she said 4-5 days.

So now I have $610 in Xoom limbo. Xoom won't make the funds, which they already withdrew from my account, available for pickup and they won't reimburse the funds back to my account so I can wire them via a reliable money wire service such as Western Union. By the third time, I was actually very concerned that these people must be scamming me into giving my personal and business information, and I just requested that they cancel the transaction and delete my account so that my information would be destroyed. At first Xoom seemed to be a viable and inexpensive solution for transferring money from the USA to Japan, from my attorney to myself. Unfortunately, my father died last year and now I'm to collect a small amount of money from his insurance company, less than US$3000. On January 26, 2017, my attorney sent Xoom money to transfer to my bank account in Japan, which I have still not received as of February 10, 2017. Some nonsense about they do not have the correct Bank account number for my account. This is obviously a lie because certainly my attorney is intelligent enough to fill out their simple form correctly.

As of two days ago, we have both requested a refund from Xoom, but they are still stalling and giving us the runaround as to why they haven't refunded the money yet. Thus my attorney has not received a refund as of today. Furthermore, I just received an email message from Xoom, that was sent to my email address, with the opening greeting to the wrong person, not myself. Obviously they are masters at confusion and stall tactics. To be sure, Xoom is a fraudulent company. DO NOT USE XOOM!!

I think I understand why. They seem to use unsuspecting people's monies to make international currency exchanges for profits at no expense to themselves. In other words, they use our money to make these currency exchanges for free and at no costs to themselves. Then they delay payment to the recipient and/or a refund to the sender, again using our money for free during this lengthy duration. This kind of activity must be stopped!! This is certainly fraud and PayPal should be ashamed for supporting this company and its activities. Let's all of us who have had problems with Xoom file a class action law suit against both Xoom and PayPal! Thank you.

After two days of attempting to use XOOM to wire money to a friend in Brazil I'm honestly appalled with the process and their customer service. Yesterday I wired my friend $20 USD to Brazil where she lives and banks. This was a test to see how long the process would take before it was deposited into her account, since neither of us were familiar with XOOM. The good news, it took about a day but the exchange rate when I sent the money and the exchange rate of her deposit were different. Thus she received less money in her bank account! When I attempted to speak to XOOM's customer service about the issue, an agent (Jea) was very dismissive towards me. At one point I thought she had hung up on me, because she refuse to engage in the conversation.

Moving forward, I called my friend and told her what had occurred, but I was going process of sending her a lump sum $1300 (she had graciously traveled to the states to visit me and I felt obliged to reimburse her for the airline ticket she had purchased). So I submitted the transaction via XOOM using all the mandated boxes previously used. 20 minutes later I received a phone call from XOOM's verification department wishing to confirm my transaction - ok, no big deal! After all it's an innocent call. The agent begins by telling me that my friend's surname and middle name are incorrect! I told him, "No, its correct!" We go around and around until he finally concedes. Then suddenly the call becomes ominous and nefarious! The agent asked, "why am I sending the money", "what is my relationship with this person," and "how long have I known them?"

WOW!!! This line of questioning I would imagine coming from the US or the Brazilian government and if they thought there were anything surreptitious going on, I'm certain their questions would have been more discreet in obtaining what they would've needed to know? Again let's get perspective on what's going on here. XOOM is a third party "service company," not a Bank, not my Bank or my friend's Bank. Their questions had nothing to do with my security i.e., making sure I had given permission to release funds to an Brazil Bank? Instead XOOM's blatantly wanted to know what was my involvement with my lady friend (a 60 year retiree)? I felt both nauseated and angry; provoking me to cancel my transaction... I can also assure you I will no longer have any future business with XOOM's products or its usages!

So I called their customer care and they said "oh yes it needs to get verified. We are transferring to Verification department" and I said okay. Now that guy picked up. First he ask me name and address and stuff like that and then he ask me about my last transactions and I said everything correct. Then he said "now we will go through some series of questions." I said okay.

So he ask me my date of birth then my Social security, email address and then he was like "what is the closest hospital near to your house" - well I am an athletic so for me there is no reason to go to hospital and I just move here 6 months ago so how should I know that and top of that I have the best Medical group in US so I can go wherever I want to any hospital and they have to treat me. Now why should I care which hospital is closer?

So I request to pass question and he was like "no sir that's not possible." What a ** type of system. So after 8 question all the questions I answer including my Social Security, Email address how many transactions I did everything just this hospital question went wrong because I don't need to know about it. "No Sir you answer the hospital question wrong so you won't be able to use Xoom." I mean dude are you kidding me? I gave you my whole original Social Security Number. Now if you live in United States you would know how much Social Security is important. So they don't care whether other information is correct or not. You should know about your closest hospital. Looks like I need to leave my job and start working as postman so I can be more familiar with hospitals.

He ask me where you sent money in India, how often you use and everything I answer correct but he stuck on the hospital question which is totally stupid. A guy who holds best medical why the hell he even bother for closest hospital. So they said "now you can't use Xoom." After this a lot frustration. I just told him to cancel my account and delete the details. It doesn't sounds worth to me but I guess Xoom is the second name of Bunch Of Monkeys. If I could give them a minus star I would. I used my PayPal account to log or try to log onto their system and it wouldn't let me. So, I created two accounts but each one got locked out as soon as I tried to send my money from a verified USA bank through PayPal to the Philippines. When I called I got all the standard answers of not being able to disclose why I could not only send money, but they locked my email addresses out of their login system so I could no longer use them. Wow. I can't believe PayPal hooked up with these guys. Wow.

I have called the customer service several times and also sent few emails but nothing seem to resolve the money transfer for which Zoom has taken out the funds from my bank account but as promised Zoom has not made the deposit to recipient's account. I initiated the transfer on 10/09/16 and today it is 10/15/16 with no answer or communication from Zoom. I am not sure what is happening with my fund transfer. It was intended for someone who desperately needed the money and that is why I selected Zoom for my transfer to help the needy person immediately.

Sorry to say that there is no one at Zoom to provide me with any answer. I am totally shocked by the poor customer service I have received so far. Maybe this can help. Thanks.

At a time, Xoom said it was the maximum Bancomer would allow. 1 failed, 3 made it to the acct. Still waking after over a week for the other 2. Called multiple times and was told it's Bancomer requiring more information. Sent a picture of my passport, a screenshot of the bank withdrawals in USA. Still getting the robot "we're sorry for the inconvenience". Asked if I went to Bancomer and presented my ID would they release the funds then. Stammering answer, like nobody asks that, was the response. Never use them again period - too risky.

They keep saying that they have not heard back from their partners down there, so they can't give the money back or even give me a cancellation number. In the meantime the money was supposed to be for the purchase of a car, and since the money was never deliver the company is now treating to repossessed the car and we are also going to lose another $5,000 dollars that we put towards the car already.

Xoom.com has a very poor customer service, every time I speak to a representative they all sound like robots, repeating the same thing over and over again with no solution to where is my money. Also in the past they never delivered the money until four days later. So it's not true that they do same day or next day delivery. It's always four days or later. But this time it has been too long and all I want is my money back.

Utterly diabolical how crap this service is and their verification process. They told me they needed more information to verify my identity after I filled out all their forms. So this is what I did. (I was in the UK trying to transfer money to a partner of mine in the UK from my US account whilst I was there as it had a better exchange rate than Chase just doing it normally):

I sent a bank statement with my address on of the account I wish to transfer money from. Had all my details, name, address, acct numbers - even all transactions of past month. I sent my passport. I got a person in the US to verify my identity. I told them who I am sending money to. I told them the relationship of who I am sending money to. I told them the purpose of why I am sending money. I told them the likelihood of me sending money again to them. I have spent 30+ minutes on the phone explaining all of the above which has blocked one "pay as you go phone" and cost 25+ on the other phone. They have seen how much money I have in my bank account (which is in my name) which is more than enough for this transactions. They still canceled it after all of this.

First, my account was put on hold, because you cannot use Xoom to send money to charities. Then I changed the recipient to an individual. My account was put on hold. I called to find out why and they asked for a passport and copy of my latest bank statement. Since Xoom is a Paypal company, I thought this was OK. Then I could not log in. Called to find out and basically they said my account was awaiting verification. Talked to verification and they said I could not be verified. Or, when pressed, that they were rejecting me. Then they kept asking "How else they could be of assistance". So I asked them to close my account.

They said it was "inactive!" Why can't they just say closed? In any case, since everything on me checks out, I am in good financial standing, own a home, have all my ducks in a row, what else do they want in a client. This was a total, total waste of time. I now feel better about those high bank fees. I pay for a service and I get it, unlike with Xoom. It's all advertising.

On Labor Day 2016 I wired US$150 to a person outside the US via Xoom. About 30 minutes after I did the transaction, a Xoom customer service called me requiring information. The representative wanted to know my relationship with the recipient which I think it is not necessary because it has nothing to do with the security of the transaction. Then she asked me what previous transaction I have made in the past. I told her the first name and the first last name of my cousin to whom I wired money to Argentina in 2015. The customer service said that I had to tell her also my cousin's complete name (second name and second last name), which I didn't even remember (nobody in the family calls her by that second name).

For me to stop what I was doing and go to the internet to open xoom.com and read back my cousin's complete name, it is not only inconvenient, but it's also ridiculous, because if they really wanted to verify the authenticity of this transaction, they should have asked me for information about my bank account, or my personal information, because reading back to them the information that is in their website from where I just sent the money and where I have access to, it is just not verification. For that reason that so-called "verification process" is not a verification at all. I got upset and requested to speak with a supervisor who was equally intransigent.

I offered to provide more information about my bank account, specifically to send them evidence that it was in fact my account, but he refused, reaffirming his decision of canceling the transaction if I didn't give him my cousin's complete name. I finally stopped what I was doing and went to their website to get that information because a family member really needed the money and I didn't want to go out on a holiday to send it any other way. I feel that Xoom is not up to the standards of the financial institutions in the US. They need to review their verification protocol, and also give proper training to its customer service representatives. Starting with the supervisors. But it is probably ran from another country. No wonder it has only 1 star in the reviews. If it happens next time, I will just avoid the hassle and use Western Union.

So I asked Xoom to cancel the transaction and asked them for a refund. They claim they paid the bill but cannot provide proof. I showed them proof that I paid the bill before they did. They would not refund the money and instead sent me to collection and canceled my account. I spent long hours on the phone with them with no positive results for three weeks now. If it is legal, then I feel it is highly inappropriate to send that type of information to an entity that is not a bank. If someone is sending that information, it is at their own risk. I immediately received an email confirming the transaction followed by a second email stating verification was needed and it would take 4 business days to occur. Again, this was not a deal breaker yet... I let her know I could get the information to her in about 5-10 minutes, then she tells me that the information I send will be sent to San Francisco for review and that it could take additional time before approval???

She ask me what was the money for and I said to help bury a dead family member. I didn't mind the question but why would you ask anyone for all of this security information and have a person in a third world country answer the phone??? The person who answered my call has absolutely all of my banking and personal information and could share it throughout the Philippines! Horrible set up and extremely difficult to do business with. This is not an alternative to Western Union. I'd rather pay more than deal with idiots who don't understand sense of urgency!!! We have called customer service more than 3 times and each time they raise a complaint and do nothing. They are not returning our money. DO not use this service. They will do nothing to return your money when they mess up. One time I got a call to let me know that on March 17 I will be getting a one-time refund and they asked me call to check on the status and when I called they said no refund will be issued because I need to send my bank account. So DON'T USE XOOM.

I sent out $150 to family member in Philippines. In order for the money to get sent out quickly and not have any issue about money getting returned I used my debit card so it is automatically taken out instead of 3-5 business days thru ACH. I started the process on 03/18/16. By 03/19/16 it was still processing, I received an email stating I needed to call xoom.com for verification. Which I did. At first they explained that I had a previous transaction that they haven't collected the funds, which was false because my bank records shows that they debited $104 from my bank on 03/15/16. I explained this to their customer service. They said they needed to verify information.

They asked me questions that I was extremely uncomfortable answering but I did. I apparently failed the verification. The question they asked are the same thing credit bureau will ask to verify your identity. After I answered 5 extremely prying questions, they claimed they still cannot verify my info, and that I needed to provide them a copy of my identification that shows my current address. Being a victim of identity theft I am extremely uncomfortable with this process. I asked them to cancel the transaction as I don't want to use their services anymore.

I used Western Union instead. The only thing they asked me as far as verification is the last 4 of the debit card I used, my address, my email, the person I'm sending the money to, and that I am the authorized user of the debit card. Never using you again xoom.com and to anyone who says xoom.com is cheaper, it cost $7.99 to send $ and for them to receive it as $ with Western Union if you send money online is $4.99, doesn't matter if the recipient receives it on $ or Php.

These company is a scam! Before Christmas of 2015 I tried this Xoom company because their service fee is just cheap. So I tried the $1000 dollars to send to my sister. After they took money from my account they asked for my 2 Gov't ID's, bank statement and utility bill. I provided it! After 3 days they responded. They're asking for my SSN. They said that I have to scanned it. I do not know why they asking my scanned SSN. Since the money took out already from my bank I provided it because my family needed the money. After another 3 days they responded and they said they will refund my money because for my own security! I was sooo mad because after that they said it will take 5-7 business days before I get my money back.

So after 7 business days still not in my bank! So I called! They said they sent it already to my bank and maybe the bank holding it? Really? Bank of America don't hold money from customers! So thanks goodness after 2 ** months they returned my money and realized that the refund didn't processed properly. How did I find out? At last one customer service check it again and reviewed my case and found out that they didn't processed it properly! So this is my biggg problem right now! I was sooo STUPID to gave all my information including SSN! (And of course they asked me 5 question about my identity and I answered all of them).

Recently I applied for another credit card and I was surprised that they said I already a card holder!!! And I just requested increase credit limit in just 1 month from opening, and they declined it! After that I said that this is my first time to apply and I realized I am a victim if identity theft! PEOPLE OUT THERE THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! If they asked you to send your info please don't! You will deal what I'm dealing right now! By the way, to those who will say that I am a stupid my answer is YES I AM! So don't do what I did!

Well I have sent money with my wife Blanca. We sent 2,900. They asked to check with our bank the balance so we did to make sure it was us sending it. They pass the money over to the bank in Guatemala but the bank in Guatemala wanted to make sure it was my wife sending the money not someone else so the bank in Guatemala is asking Xoom to send to us so info asking us for a photo id and other info on my wife that is sending the money. So how are we sending money with Xoom or the bank in Guatemala?

I think Xoom should call them not us because we are sending with Xoom not the bank in Guatemala. And we can't just send info on us to a 3rd world country. That's how people lose everything. Someone can steal their bank info and stuff. Anyway what I'm trying to say is that Xoom says one thing and the banks you send to can do what they want with your money. So when you send money with Xoom, your money might be held or not. The banks can do anything and Xoom has no explanation why they are hold the money.

I was having some trouble using Western Union's website to transfer money so I decided to give Xoom a try. Everything seemed to go just fine while I was on the website make the money transfer. I was trying to send $200 American to the Philippines. The transaction appeared to complete so I sent a screenshot of the information to my girlfriend so she could pick up the money. About 30 minutes following the online transaction I got a phone call from Xoom to question the transaction. It started off innocently enough, asking questions to verify the account information that I provided. It then moved into personal questions such as how long had I know her, what was my relationship, what was the money for, etc. I answered a few of the questions but then told the lady that it was none of her business. I told her I was happy to verify anything she needed to verify the account or card I used but my personal relationship was none of their concern.

She tried to explain to me that they were trying to protect me from fraud. I told her that I would accept the liability in the event of fraud and that I'm 50 years old so I don't need someone deciding for me what I can and can't do. They provide a service and I'm just trying to use that service. Eventually she told me that the case would have to be sent to corporate for approval which would take 24 hrs. I cancelled the transaction and requested a refund. The refund was going to take 3 to 5 business days to get back into my account. They are happy to take it out immediately but take their time putting it back even though they caused this whole situation to begin with. I ended up driving down to the local Western Union office and doing the transfer right there. The whole thing took less than 2 minutes with no issues whatsoever. I will never use Xoom again. If there was an option to rate them a zero then I would have selected that.

I don't know another number for my friend and it was on a different time zone so I accepted the cancellation and they said it will clear within 3-5 days with my bank.

More than two weeks have gone and it's still pending. It decreased my available money on my credit card that is why I am very upset. I feel like they took my money and put it on hold. They just passed me around different agents and could not solve it for me. My bank said the merchant which is Xoom put the authorization on hold and has to remove it. The bank can't do anything until Xoom removes it. This practice is unfair and I think they're doing something illegal with it. I sent that money on a urgent basis and I didn't get a single email from them. Every time I need to call these Xoom guys - wait for around 30 mins in the call and then hear no USEFUL response from them. I had to send my recipient's name, bank account statements and even their personal mobile number to verify the deposit was not made. How could they take customer's money ($1,675) and don't return it even after sending all the proofs??

To let you know I have been using this account from the past 2 years and sending money to the same recipient. I think these guys are doing some kind of FRAUD and playing with customer's money. After 1 MONTH, I got an email saying there is an unexpected error faced by their partner (Punjab National Bank) in India and refunded my money. It took 1 MONTH for these guys to look into the issue and refund my money back. I honestly feel this has been the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE and I no longer send money from XOOM now. I think it's better to switch to WESTERN UNION to send money to India.

Stick with a reputable, tried and true service like Western Union. You cannot transfer more than $2499 a day, or $6000 a month, or $9,000 in six months. So, if you intend to send money with any regularity - DON'T USE XOOM. It's very NOT zoom-y. With Xoom you will only be frustrated, and doomed to a very negative experience. If you do, be forewarned, you are likely to be highly frustrated and the promises of a rapid transfer will not materialize. Just see the other reviews. I liked the fact that the money arrived quickly and that it could be picked up at any branch of the bank. However the service is no longer the same.. A week later and my daughter (on a year-long Rotary exchange) needed the money for an educational trip. We called one last time (4 calls before) and they said to wait. We cancelled. We have a cancellation number. Online at our account at Xoom it said cancelled. Yes you guessed it. We flawlessly used World First (got a better rate and got $30 more dollars) and sent the cash.

THEN Xoom sent the money a week later! We called them and got 'customer service' who on both occasions were not great english speakers and basically said "Yes you cancelled but we sent it anyway. I am very sorry. I will ask my supervisor to refund your $5 fee." Two calls same answer. Twice they said, "Yes you cancelled and yes we sent it anyway!!!" I guess I am still shocked that they are allowed to operate? I am now working on getting awesome and understanding folks in Germany to send back $2,000. You get what you pay for. Xoom was cheaper on face value but World First was actually less expensive with the better exchange rate and they are a real company. I am cancelling my PayPal and Xoom Account in the next 5 minutes. Stay away from Xoom! It's a circus. Here's what will happen even to a Upgraded Account. Xoom does NOT offer commercial services yet doesn't indicate this on their front page, only in fine print in their User Agreement. They will bait you in to send all your personal information (Passport, Driver's license, bank statement, etc.). After you try to send they will flag down payments and not send, but NOT send a notification that payment was cancelled. They will lock down your account but NOT send a notification of this and then have you trying to reset your password 3 or 4 times before you call support.

Their 1st level support will not pass off your personal information to their 2nd level support so every new person will ask to reverify information. These shenanigans will last around 30 minutes. They illogically ask to reverify information and then ask for additional documents (when they already have the documents on file) just to get access back to your account. USE ANY OTHER COMPANY. TransferWise.com is head and shoulders better and much cheaper!

I completed the process online and entered in the contact numbers for text message verification thinking 'great, both parties will get simple notifications of completion'. No notifications came - instead, I got an email and a voicemail indicating that my request had to be verified urgently. After several annoying verification questions (although I appreciate that some users are scammers so they need to verify) the customer service agent stated he needed to call me back, whereupon he asked one of the previous set of questions and told me that everything had been verified and that the funds would be transferred within the hour. The next day the funds still hadn't been transferred with no contact from Xoom. It had been urgent the day before, but not urgent when my funds still didn't get transferred.

I called customer support and proceeded to go through exactly the same process with another agent. I got frustrated and asked why it hadn't gone through the previous day as promised, and the response was "thank you for reporting your concern" with no explanation and deliberate vague incoherent babble (think 'Spies Like Us' - Paraguayan mumbling - press briefing scene). I pushed and demanded an answer, and was eventually told some BS about it needing to be approved by a senior agent. There was no mention of that contingency the previous day when the previous agent said the transfer would be complete within the next hour. Since the money was going to the UK (+ 8 hours) each delay pushed it a day later for the recipient who needed the funds earlier.

Every other reviewer here is correct - their customer service sucks on top of the let-downs in their process. I feel for the poor customer service staff who have to spiel this BS to complaining customers repeatedly day after day - they must have a lot of staff churn. Fix your service. I understand some limited verification needs, but please deliver on your promises to establish a good reputation - plain and simple!

Several months ago I was looking for a quick and easy way to transfer some money from the US to the UK. After researching my options, I found Xoom. The first time I set up my account, I had to provide some information which for the most part went pretty smoothly. They charge a flat fee of $4.99 per transfer and also provide their own currency rates, which even if different from the representative rate--all in--the fees are very, very reasonable. To be honest banks charge me around $40 to make a transfer and also give the worst currency conversion rates.

I have now been using Xoom for several months and am so delighted with this service! When I log in I already see the transfer details and if I need to transfer the same amount to the same account it is as easy as clicking the mouse twice and the transfer is on its way. The most amazing thing is that I actually receive my money in my UK bank account after less than an hour! I am very, very pleased with this service and whether you take my word for it or not--as someone who has been working in the financial world for many years--there are not many money transfer services that will provide you with such a pristine and efficient service with such low fees!
