I contacted Xoom first by email because they say that you need a USA account to be able to transfer money, and since the account I planned to use was in Puerto Rico (a territory of the USA) I wanted to know if they considered that as if it is in the USA, and I explained exactly that, I received an email telling me that you could only send money from the USA, and only that, not if Puerto Rico is considered part or not, I send another email with the reference to the first email and asked again, and was told to call them. I send another email telling them that I was out of the country, I was in Spain, and I couldn't call them, so they again send an email telling me to call them.
Since it was a time sensitive matter I decided to make the very expensive call. And again told them my question, and the woman who answered the phone told me 5 times 'You can send money from Puerto Rico as long as the method of payment is in the USA.' She answers like that every time I asked her point blank, "Do you as a company view PR as a payment method inside the USA."
After repainting that she told me that the bank address had to be from USA, and I told her, that is why I'm calling cause the address in Puerto Rico are **, PR, USA, just like in the states or in Virgin Islands etc. Then she proceeds to tell me that since you can send money TO Puerto Rico that means that is NOT considered part of USA. At the end of the day I'm not even sure if what she told me was true or she just wanted to be done with me, but the customer service from the first email who it read as if he didn't even saw my email, just copy/pasted some information, to the last call who I felt like didn't want to understand me or help me was just awful.

Xoom is a stupid app, it’s just a waste of time. I sent money??? It returned for no reason & came back in my account after a week instead of transferring country, it was really embarrassing for me to use the low standard app, because other person was really needy and I couldn’t help him out because of this Xoom.

Before I chose to send money to India through Xoom, I called their customer service number on two different occasions to verify the time they would take to make a transfer. Both times I was told 4 business banking hours. I go ahead with my transaction at 9:11 a.m. today 11/29/18 thinking the transaction will be done by end of today. To my surprise, I find an email has been sent to me that the money will reach the party in India by December 6! I called customer service again only to be told that in some rare cases a bank to bank transfer can take more than 3-4 working days. I asked to speak to a supervisor since this information should have been shared upfront.
After being on hold for 25 minutes, the supervisor gave me the same 'rare cases' excuse and suggested that she could cancel the transfer. The money was a maid's salary which had to be there by the 1st and since I was told it would get there in 4 hours, I chose to work on it on the 29th. Bottom line, if you are trying to get a transfer done promptly, ask all the questions and pray you get the right answers. Very disappointed with their customer service and the fact that they are not giving potential customers the truth about the duration on each transaction method.

First, I have excellent credit and already have multiple PayPal business accounts with decent volume for PayPal. I was directed to Xoom as a means to send an emergency transfer for a family in need in Brazil. Almost one month later the transfer never went through and my account was closed without any explanation. When contacting customer service they advise you to reply to the email received by Xoom. Xoom sends a reply including the following text 'We are unable to provide any more information regarding this Issue and any future correspondence will not be answered.'
When you get with someone at customer service they are clearly reading scripts and communicate poorly. I can understand processes, procedures, verifications, glitches, etc., but good business people communicate with their clients. To this day I have no idea why my account was canceled. Xoom lacks any basic level of courteous communication and customer service to build any customer retention. In hindsight, I had many options and am delighted to pay the Wire-Transfer fee at my bank to avoid dealing with Xoom.

Actually for me Xoom has been the best company for sending money to the Philippines and to Mexico. Western Union charges $20.00 dollars transfer fee to send $150 dollar wire transfer plus they take 3 days to deposit the money into the bank account in the Philippines. Xoom charges $5.99 dollars transfer fee to send $150.00 dollar wire transfer plus the money is in my son's bank account in one hour. I am not sure how Xoom works for sending money to other countries, but I have used it 4 times per month for sending money to the Philippines and never had any problems.

I have been a member of PayPal since 2008. I have had an emergency situation arise, of which it still exists. This is why I chose to avail myself of Xoom. I am an expat but my bank is still in the US, of which I only have one. I explained to Xoom that I needed to send money to myself and that this was the most expedient way to do that. However, even after providing appropriate documentation my transaction was still canceled! And they will not let me use their service at all now! As a longtime PayPal member I am extremely disappointed with this. I am seriously considering leaving PayPal as well.

I initiated a payment from my US bank account for transfer to my friend’s Canada bank account. They received an email the transaction completed but they never received the money. Upon calling Xoom after 7 days, Xoom initiates a refund back to my account. I called customer service and they said there was technical difficulties so the money did not go through. They offered No help other than tasking me to try again.!! Never use Xoom. If there were better alternatives, I would never use PayPal for this.

I tried sending money to my own account in Europe. Got the dreaded email to call for verification, which I did. Then an email requesting bank statement, ID, and phone bill. I sent the first two but as my phone is provided to me by my company, I don't get a phone bill. Xoom rep response was that a phone bill was required. What the heck does a phone bill have to do with verifying my identity and account? Ridiculous verification requirements and I would not recommend.

I had initiated money transfer to India on Nov 15th and still money didn’t deposit in the account. I called them couple of times and they aren't telling Punjab National Bank is experiencing issues and they cannot deposit right now and they are continue telling same since Nov 16th and today is Nov 19 end of the day and they still says the same. They are not giving option to cancel my funds too. Why you guys are in the market when you are not able to meet the deadlines committed by you guys which says you will deposit money to India in 4 hours. It’s been more than 5 days and you guys are telling me the same reason Punjab National Bank is experiencing issues and which are not resolved and there is no ETA. Horrible service and goodbye to Xoom.

They lied. Their system is illogical. And their dealing with customers is stupid. More hold time, please more. Canceling transaction. They said money would be transferred within 1-2 business days. It's been more than a week now. I just talked to them, and they say it will take 3-4 business days! What? I attempted to send two transactions. One of x amount and the other of a similar y amount. They asked for elaborate verification documents for both amounts (my ID, my paystubs, my bank statement? But sure I played along).
Then they verified me for the x amount but not for the y amount! What? The amounts are coming from the same account, to the same recipient, from the same me and they are very similar amounts. What? Each time I talk to someone they do the same - ask for my name, address, email. They determine which transaction I am calling about. Then they ask the question - what is the desired amount you wish to send? What? The amount that is in the transaction! Shouldn't that be clear? Not to Xoom. And they asked this multiple time. It must be part of their script.
Then, I forgot to mention they like putting people on hold a lot. Verify who I am, then put me on hold, then come back for a few sec to determine topic, then put me on hold again. Then to top it, they say, "Can we call you in x mins." I say ok. They call back (not every time) and then as soon as they verified who I was, guess what they did, they put me on hold again?
Finally I asked to cancel the transaction A that was verified. First they said that I have to wait for the money to get deposited to the recipient's account because my bank hasn't released it yet. (I see in my bank account that the money is gone from there.), then I say, fine if it is not released yet, just cancel the transaction. Then they say, it will take 3-4 business days for the money to arrive to your bank account. What??? Money didn't went out of account, money has to get back to the account. Makes no sense.
In sum, my advice is - if you are sending insignificant amount that has to arrive in a non timely manner - if you have a week or two for it to be processed go head. If you are sending anything with 3 or more digits, just don't do it. Save yourself the risk of going through this ordeal. Maybe if you have extra time, then still do it at your own risk of crazy verification process that may yield in the legit you not being verified after you gave them all they wanted. Anyways, I am closing my account and not coming back.

I was trying to send money to a family member for an emergency. Xoom announces that the money will get the destination in minutes. After I did the payment I got a message that the transfer was pending. The screen show a message that the money was available after 2 hours but this never happened. After 5 hours, I received an email stating that they to call Xoom to confirm some information. I called and they ask me for copies of 3 last bank statements, copy of my ID. I was not requesting a loan from Xoom, I was trying to send some of my money to someone. I was trying to send only $91.
Xoom needs to inform the clients how this process works and how long will take to the other person to received the money. Also the exchange rate is ridiculous. They pay COP$3047 for each dollar when Ria is paying COP$3202. Next time you better go to a Ria Money Transfer or Western Union location, the money will be available after 5 minutes of doing the transfer.

Trying to transfer some money. They canceled transaction, didn't gave specific reason. "WE consider security as very important." Called them, emailed them to resolve it. Seems like no one cares. Calls always goes to offshore location who have hard time understanding our English. Guess what, I ended up transferring directly from my Bank of America account without issues.

Wanted to send $150 to Romania and I was asked if I am a relative of that person and what is the reason I send the money. When I declined to respond I was told that they cannot fulfill my request. This was the first time trying and the amount is very small. No explanation on why they need to know. You can send larger amounts within US but this small amount was not acceptable. And by the way, their conversion rates are really bad! Do not use this service - this is my advice!

My daughter and I made great friends with a woman in London. We even opened a business there with her. We are very excited about it. I sent a small amount of money via Paypal to her but we needed money to go directly to our bank account there so that is where Xoom came in. I sent a small amount--$300usd and everything worked great. I attempted to send more a day or two later and Xoom delayed it and requested my USA bank account verification. So, no big deal-- I jumped thru hoops and sent it. It was like a $300 transaction. They denied it and me from doing any business with them--with ZERO explanation why. My account easily goes thru $10,000 a month in money in and out. When I queried it--The lady that talked to me acted so so pleased to be able to turn me down. Hope you guys have a better experience.

Had last used Xoom in 2015, pre PayPal. Tried to reset account by forwarding new email address. Didn't work, spoke to customer service (in Philippines, no US based phone service center). Xoom had my residential address incorrectly noted in database. Would not sure their address discrepancy. Had to create new account. Was quizzed on who I was sending money to ($500 US), why I was sending money, how long had I known these people. Xoom requested drivers license, passport, and bank statements. Not worth the hassle, and had to repeat questions and statements many many times due to language barrier.

Fast service and reliable, the only problem when you send money to your loved ones in dollars you are forced to round it off to 100’s which is ridiculous. Like in my case if I want to send $1,140 then it’s either I have to send $1,100 or $1,200, what’s going on? You need to change your policy and bring back what was before.

I provided Xoom with my Recipient‘s Phone number, however Xoom DID NOT CALL him to inform him of the Xoom tracking number (transaction receipt #). This caused my recipient hardship and inconvenience: because my recipient is in bad health making it difficult for him to travel, not 1 but 2 times to pick up the funds. And This also caused 1 day delay as he had to go back another day to get the money, he badly needed, from: Cebuana Lhuillier Pawnshop Manila East Road, Taytay, Rizal. Recommend Xoom to be SENSITIVE and responsive to the needs of their customers.

I have been using Xoom for over two years on a monthly basis. It has always been simple, super quick, and reliable. It's part of PayPal, so I trust them. It takes a few minutes to complete a transfer and the money is available in minutes. Their fees are very reasonable, especially the exchange rates, which is where other services make their money. The exchange rate with Xoom is fair. Xoom offers thousands of pick up locations, at least when sending to Mexico. I can comfortably recommend them to anyone wanting to send money.

I need to send money to my fiancee in Peru every two weeks. We used to use Western Union, but they stopped paying USD in Peru, so I did some searching and discovered Xoom. I trusted them because of their association with PayPal, which I've used for about 15 years. The money is quickly available, in dollars, at a bank near her and we've never had a problem with transfers. I'm very happy with the service.

Been using Xoom since its inception without any issues. Paypal was wise not changing a web interface that is NOT broken. Normally such changes result in a slow and overly complicated site that looks like it was designed by a committee. Transfers are smooth and informative.

This by far is the best way to send money to the Philippines. As long as a recipient has a bank account. They could receive remittance within hours. I have experienced that BDO remittance was done as soon as I confirmed the transaction. As long as you send $200 USD from a US bank account, the transaction is free. No more going to Western Union or Money Gram to send money, just use the app, confirm the transfer and you're done.

Why is it that some of the location where my recipient like Cebuana in Bangued Abra giving them the hard time to release the money even you have the correct control no. and the teller are asking gifts from the recipients like Xmas gift. It should not be. That's why I am using Xoom. I thought this is the quickest to receive the money but I was wrong. Hope you will take actions on this matter because it makes me stressful esp. when my recipients needs the money right away. From my place to the location where I get the money is 20mins and my recipient have to commute and the fare is 100.00 1 way. Thank you.

I haven’t been able to use the app. It freezes I have been going into google to do my transaction. At the beginning it was super annoying to wait to have my transactions. Review now is fast and easy which is what I was looking for.

I use Xoom at least once a month. When there is no problems with your transaction, it's one of the best services I have used. However, if for some reason you run into issues as I have in the past. You could be looking at weeks to months before your money clears or is refunded and you get little to no help from Xoom. I spent countless amount if hours to get my money through and it took over a month. I get it, sometimes it's beyond their control, but someone needs to take responsibility, for now, it will not be Xoom. So in summary, great service, until you run into issues. Also note, I still use Xoom once a month. :)

On November 3rd I made a transfer to an account in Mexico specifying name and address of the recipient account, due to a typo the money was sent to a different account number on the same bank (Banco Azteca), as soon as I noticed that the money wasn’t in the account I let Xoom staff know, after 2 days and a half I haven’t received any notice about my lost money.

Pretty easy to use, competitive money exchange value and money the same day. Grey service overall, I can deposit my money anytime anywhere from my banking account. I don't need to spend time going to a special place, I can use the rest of my day to do other things, doesn't take more than 5 minutes, very convenient!

Money sent were received quicker. Receiver received the money within an hour. Fee is reasonable and fair. It serves its purpose during necessity time. Additionally, I love the convenience of sending telephone loads to my family anywhere. Customer service is quick in helping. My information is safe. Requirements of valid id’s for recipients to pick up the money helps safeguard the funds.

I have an urgency to send $7500, but Xoom took 15 days to send. And still the last transaction still in process. More over, you send me a email saying cash picked up already but we still didn't. I can't rely on Xoom to send money in urgency.

I had been using this app for a while and never had an issue, until a couple of weeks ago due to me canceling a transfer due to the bank being out service. I was refunded for this original cancellation but was charged twice out my card. The bank and the statement shows they with drafted twice and returned once. I reached out to customer department and sent my statement in. The customer rep stated they did not double charge my card. I requested to speak to a manager. Rep LUIS decided to hang up on me. I emailed back and they stated there was no double charge. In the email I requested to speak to a manager. It’s been a day later no manager has even attempted to call me. THUMBS DOWN???

For several years I've used Xoom to send cash pickups and bank deposits received in Philippines. I never experienced problem until bank deposit I initiated November 1ST 2018 which is All Saints Day holiday when Filipinos mass exodus cities and towns to cemeteries and honor the dead. Initiated bank deposit November 1st 2018 1:17 PM Manila time. According to Xoom transaction history, 4 and 1/2 days later the attempted deposit remains "in progress" and is awaiting completion. I called Xoom CSR 3 times regarding money never deposited into recipients bank account. Each time I received a different answer why transaction is unsuccessful.
November 2ND 2018 CSR answer: Receiving bank experiencing problem crediting ALL incoming foreign transactions. November 3RD 2018 CSR answer: Xoom experiencing Technical problem. Problem being reviewed. November 4TH 2018 supervisor answer: Xoom technical problem not resolved. Xoom is working internally to quickly resolve problem. Xoom cannot predict when transfer is finally deposited into receiving bank.
Xoom CSRs, and supervisor (? ), consistently lied and never divulged reason why, after almost 5 days, attempted bank deposit remains "in progress". Real reason: Late Wednesday evening October 31ST 2018, or early Thursday morning November 1ST 2018, Xoom Metro Manila operations staff departed en mass for rural provinces and enjoy All Saints Day holiday weekend festivities. Not one person remained in Metro Manila operations center to correct processing problems.
What irritated me is Xoom exhibited absolutely ZERO interest to correct an internal problem. Consequently recipient never received money intended for her/him and customer consistently treated as if merely a piece of garbage instead of valued customer whose transaction service fees pays Xoom's recurring bills and provides jobs for its employees. This is final instance when I use Xoom to transfer money to Philippines. Xoom's complete lack of respect for faithful customer far outweighs its demonstrated poor results. Transferring to Ficohsa in Honduras from US Bank - I love the service, is fast and I really like the repeat transfer button once was set up. The first time I ran a couple test with $100, since the receiving bank where I’m working in Honduras provides their account numbers with extra zeros that were not required in the system, so the first time it didn’t work, simply removed the zeros and second transfer was a success. Have used three more times with no issues. Fastest way I’ve found to return US$ back to local currency, today transferred $1000, and received confirmation couple hours later money was available.

I understand the need to verify identity but why is it that Xoom must have my full bank statement with full history of purchases, checking and saving balances and needs to know what is my relationship to persons I am sending money to in order to process my money transfer? I have been using Xoom from 2012. I never had bad experience with them before. But this time I see something weird that my transaction shows complete but recipient haven't received it. On calling customer service, they asked me for Bank Statement and they opened case to investigate. Just before I send statement (within 10 min I opened the case), I received email from Xoom stating that they are closing the case as they assume it already processed.
It's already past 72 hours. I don’t receive any communication since then. And on calling customer service again, at first they are not willing to listen on what’s going on, they simply say it's already processed and they try to show some other transaction and convince me that it got through xoom, which piss me off. On yelling and ask him to watch closer that it's not from xoom, he finally agreed with me that the transaction is missing. Such a waste of customer service!!! All in all, I am still waiting for my money and seems if we are not paying attention, they can steal you money!!! Please be careful when using xoom!!! I still have no communication from them. They are not reliable any more.

Also your rates and customer service is amongst one of the best for me. Opposed to Western Union I'm very impressed and I shall continue using your service. However if you had a point system whereas the more you utilize you can earn enough points to reduce the amount of your transfers or possibly obtain others free like Western Union. After Paypal taking over, they don't behave like the way it was before. I was asked to do some verification questions. I have been using XOOM for last 8 years. Suddenly they interupted and asking "What is the relation of the money receiver with you?" What matters about my relationship with the receiver.. I don't have to send only with relatives, I am able to send to charity. I am able to send some funds to some of my friend.... When I am their loyal customer, they don't have to verify like this... This service is the worst, after asking for a crazy amount of information about my account number and at the end cancel my transaction, I found out two days after that that unauthorized people was using my card to do some shopping online with my card. I have been using Xoom for almost 2 months. The issue I faced with Xoom is suddenly one night my account got hacked and amount of 2999 dollars have been deducted from my bank. It was transferred to someone by name Shahid. I don’t how Xoom allow people to get into account without proper authentication. It’s so insane. So I called Xoom regarding this. They opened up a investigation and resolved the issue in 7 business days. That’s good. But I will never ever trust Xoom. Never. My only suggestion to Xoom is improve their security operations. I made a transfer, they canceled (my payment was verified and all my information was ok). I called asking for they honor the rate of the day, the supervisor agreed and asked me for make the transfer again and she told me they would pay for the difference. I made the new transfer and they did not send the money difference. I called many times, send messages by Facebook and email, they answer sometimes with cliches, when I called one more time and talked about the supervisor, they pretend they do not know about it and they said the call was not in the system. So, a supervisor called me with all my information from Xoom's account and they do not know who did it?! I will never use this website/app again.

I wired money to my niece in Canada from New York on October 15 Monday. We received a notice from Xoom on October 19 that the fund was deposited into the account. Yet, my niece's bank account shows no deposit. I called Xoom and sent email. They only insisted that the deposit was made. My niece sent me her online statement with no deposit but Xoom insisted that the transaction is completed. They said that their partner company has to send an inquiry and they cannot do anything about it. Yesterday I had to ask my sister to sent my niece money again so she could get her money. Customer service is poor and when there is a problem. And they don’t deal with it immediately. It is worth paying a high bank fee since if money disappears, they don’t deal with the issue. I am sending an email to Xoom again but if they don’t respond, I am notifying the New York attorney general as a possible fraud case.

I have been sending money with Xoom for years and it is bee a good service until last week. I called to ask when would a payment be available if I deposited directly into someone's account instead of receiving cash deposit. They assured by 4:00 pm. At 4 my mom was sitting there waiting and the bank told her no, not available. I called and assured me a second time. I called back again and this representative told me he would cancel, I asked him to be sure as I would be then sending again via instant cash. The next day my bank account was in a negative balance plus a 33 fee because they never canceled the first transaction and now I was out an extra $469.00 dollars and all they could say is sorry for the inconvenience. I have been using Xoom for some time for money transfer. After being loyal to Xoom for quite some time, Xoom decided to restrict my transfers for whatever reason at a time when I really needed to transfer the money. This restriction really hurt me and I was forced to seek other services and I have found that others are much easier in terms of services. I also have an ongoing issue that is never resolved which irritates me every time. Xoom customer service promised me to resolve and be in touch with me. Which they never did. I wish I could give you more than "2" Stars but your service is not as good as advertised. If the customer is having the same issue constantly, take care of that instead of empty promises.

Someone hacked into my PayPal account and created a Xoom account without my knowledge. PayPal could not reverse the charges, so I had to go through a cumbersome separate process with Xoom. Security is not good. I had charges from 3 different users in Pakistan.

It was good and I have used it a lot, but now they blocked my account because they are not able to verify my account! After doing a lot of transaction now they are not able to verify my account? This is strange and I asked them what they are unable to verify so I can provide documents, but they said they can't provide me any information. Upper management needs to be aware of what call representative are talking to customers, call representative mentioned that they can't verify my account and blocked my account forever and they won't tell me which piece of information that they can't verify. I've been using Xoom for about 7 years. Most recently, the first place I went to pick up the money no longer existed. It had been turned into a Western Union almost a year ago, but it was still listed the XOOM website. The exchange rate is worse than I can get for cash. The fees have gone up since PayPal acquired Xoom. The overall service has gone downhill, but it is still "OK".

I tried to use XOOM to transfer money to my sister-in-law in Mexico and ran into some problems. I was called to validate who I was and asked to provide a picture of a government ID and a bank statement from the account that would fund the transfer. They wanted to validate my account and ensure I could fund the transfer. After reviewing my bank statement, I realized the bank statement all of my accounts, not just my checking account. The other account information was not relevant. I edited the statement with a PDF editor and redacted out the other accounts as well as all transaction details for my checking account. The statement showed the last 4 of my account, my name and address, and the beginning and ending amounts for the checking account. I sent these in.
I checked back a few days later and found the transaction had been cancelled. I called them and they said they had not received a copy of my driver's license nor a copy of my bank statement. I sent it in again; they said they needed the info sent from the email address in my account. It took me some time, but finally guessed that there was confusion because I used an alias email address for the public, but when replying to an email, my true email address was shown as the source of the email. I changed my account email address to a gmail.com account and sent the documents in again. They received them but advised the bank account could not be edited. I resent the bank statement after redacting it to leave only the full checking account info that was funding the transaction. They also rejected this.
After much agonizing consideration, I finally decided to send them the entire statement as the use of XOOM would be helpful. They reviewed my document and then ruled they could not verify my information so my account was restricted. I called and spoke to customer service again, about my 4th or 5th time. I asked for a supervisor. She finally came on and then transferred me to a fraud dept supervisor. I spoke with him and he reviewed everything. He said he couldn't discuss anything and that my account was restricted and could not be used to transfer money. I triggered some type of fraud alert and they couldn't/wouldn't discuss it any further.
I could never use my account and the restriction could not be lifted. So, I went into my account and deleted my bank account, recipient info, and my mobile phone # though it is still retained in my profile. In conclusion, I don't trust XOOM and will find another way to send money to my relative. I thought they would be good because I like PayPal. In my opinion, XOOM.com is something else entirely.

They took on Oct-19th twice the amount of 585 Dollars. There was a problem with transaction at Walmart in Playa del Carmen Mexico (the system was down) and I re-sent another 585 Dollars. A friend of mine referred me to Xoom. I created an account using that referral. The only reason I created a Xoom account was to get that referral bonus. It’s been a week since I made my first transaction of over $400, and I never received my referral bonus. Contacting Xoom customer service has been futile. I didn’t receive the advertised bonus. The charge of $7.99 for each transfer is a little on the high side. I feel that it could be lower with as many people that use the service. You certainly could lower the transfer fee. The other thing is the new rule that the amount you are able to transfer has to be an even amount like $200.00, cannot be like $225.00 which makes it very difficult to do because sometimes all you have to transfer is amounts like 150.00 or 125.00 but you have to increase the amount even though you don't have the additional amount or need to make it more. That rule is very difficult to abide by so please go back to the old way of being able to transfer any amount. Otherwise your services are good.

I am a frequent sender using Xoom account and whenever I send big amount of money to the Philippines it's always delayed if not it would always put me to compliance wherein I have to provide a lot of unnecessary information or documents. I complied to send two bank accounts one with the joint account that shows the direct deposit from the investment and one with my personal checking account that also shows direct deposit from the company. Since it was a direct deposit I have to wait more time to request those pay stub from the company in order to provide to Xoom. Waste of data to call Xoom and to stay on the line for 30 mins and don't get efficient service. Agents are more wary of their average handle time than to stay in the line and help for my concern..so much hassle and time consuming to send money to Xoom I have rather go to local remittance.

I always use Xoom to send money. It is good but it could be great. For example in Mexico people have a letter then a name (J Jose, M Guadalupe) instead of a full first name. So I have to call in each time I send to one of my people to adjust the name since system doesn't allow it. Also we should be able to cancel a transaction online, even if we have to re-enter password of something to confirm this change. Although I never have a long wait for a representative, it is still a little inconvenient sometimes. Overall good.

She told me there is a bank holiday in Nepal and money will be available on Oct 20th after 5 days. I told her the bank are only closed in small cities but open in Kathmandu and other larger cities. But my parents went to the main city where the bank was opened then he was able to withdraw the money. Your rep must have good understanding about the bank in those country so we can rely on your information.

I transfer money on a biweekly basis to both Guatemala and the Philippines. While I enjoy the fact that the fees for transfer to the Philippines have been greatly reduced, the lag time in processing is ridiculous. I'm located in Florida and I transfer to Guatemala within 2 minutes. The transfer to the Philippines which used to be almost as immediate is now over three days. I cannot get answers from anyone in your customer service center. I understand they are also located in the Philippines and they do the best they can. However the customer service is horrendous. They have no information and they will not pass me on to a supervisor who has any capability to look into this problem. The calls that are placed for customer service issues should be recorded and reviewed by people in the United States who can appreciate what good customer service means. I would not recommend your service to anyone.

I have a son attending university in England. Transferring money from the US to England has been expensive until I found Xoom. This process is easy to use, the funds transfer in minutes and the exchange rate is really good with very little expense. I try sending money and they didn’t authorize the transaction stating they were in a verification process even though they retrieve the money from my debit card and they asked me to email support documentation and after they received everything they asked for they start asking personal questions like for example what was the relationship between me and the person receiving the money. Every time you have to send money - they required you to call them for verification which defeat the purpose of making your transaction easy. And the questions for verification is long, it's like you're applying for credit cards. Even though you're calling from your verified phone number they will ask hundreds of questions before they ask you the most important questions, which is your bank account info. I have 3 bank account attached to my account, when I gave them the 1st option. I was told to call back to again, I told the representative why can't I just give them my 2nd bank acct info. Oh no, I have to call back and stay in the line again and wait in line which takes about 5 to 10 min wait.
As I am logging in to my XOOM account to see which bank it was set up for sending payment. They lock me out and has alert message that I have to call them for verifying my account information for security reason as I may be hacked. Now I have to do 2 calls, to activate my access to XOOM and process the transaction I requested. I don't recommend anyone to use their service. I was trying Xoom for the first time, to send a measly $30 AUD (less than $30 USD, even after the fee they charge) from United States to Australia. I get an email telling me to call so they can verify and process it. I called and they asked me some personal questions (what was the service??? Are they worried I'm funding a terrorist with less than $30? Lmao), then told me I'd get an email advising me to send my driver's license and bank statement! I've been watching scam videos on YouTube recently and that's too coincidental for my comfort. They also asked how many times I thought I'd use Xoom in the future, I said none that I know of for the future. And now it'll actually be ZERO EVER.

I am getting married to someone overseas soon and been sending money in preparation for the wedding and my visit through Western Union without issue. Tried to transfer 1900usd with Xoom and was told to call the number -- fine no problem. Basic fraud check. Figured they would just want me to identify myself. I had to speak to some foreigner who asked me a ton of personal questions that is none of their business. I was completely honest and once I told him that I was getting married and met the girl online -- he said the transfer couldn't be honored because blah blah they don't allow sending money to people who you met online.
It's like, I get it you are trying to reduce scammers or whatever, but you have to wonder a about a service that is all in your business. I mean it is my money. I will do what I see fit with it. If I am dumb enjoy to send my money to some scammer without doing the proper checks then that's my problem not theirs -- just make your little money off the transfer and shut up.

I made a money transfer using Xoom from MY account in the USA to MY account in Spain. I had to give a lot of information including my SSN. Ok so far. I tried to make another one... same accounts. Both mine. NO credit card or loans involved in the transfer. Just from my account to my account. Then they asked me to send a copy of my driver's license or passport and a copy of my bank statement. I didn't like the idea of giving Xoom all my personal and financial information so I taped out the balance of my bank account.
They canceled the transfer because they protocol to verify my identity wasn't met because they NEED to know the amount on my account... NO WAY!!! This goes beyond what it is needed for a identity verification. Even though their rates are very good, there is no way I will allow a business that is making money through the transfer of my money, know all my information. And they cannot even explained how they use that or the purpose of knowing the balance of my account... BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE. Going back to my bank.

Be warned, 21 days after sending money, it is still not there. Call daily and am told I will receive an email. No email, almost $4000 and there is little concern. When called foreign bank, was asked why I didn't use a "real" bank and they could do nothing with Xoom. Next time use a bank. It didn't save money or time.

It was easy enough to fill out the request to send money to a church, then I got an email that there was a problem. The customer service on the phone took the bank and contact information and said everything would be fine. A few days later I check on the transfer and see that the money has not yet been withdrawn from my bank account and called customer service -- a pleasant agent informed me that they do not send money to businesses or churches or nonprofits. He explained that the information is on the website. Really? How am I supposed to know that? This was transaction was really a time sensitive issue and I'm astounded that there was NO communication with me the second time to explain that the transaction would not occur.

Transferred a large amount last week and it was a breeze. Attempted a slightly larger amount this week and it was delayed. I was informed that this was due to an account validation of the source account. (Surprisingly it wasn't required before!) Finally after the validation (3 days later), the transfer seems to be moving along. But only to realize that the exchanging rate is now more favorable to Xoom (about ~ INR 4000 Rs). Wonder why they couldn't use the current x-rate since they are only initiating the transfer now. Tried their customer support and they don't seem to understand the issue or unable to explain their own process clearly. Are they gaming money transfer at our cost? Evaluating other options for the future!

I have been using Xoom for few years now and they have always been very professional and provide best service. I have usually transferred smaller amounts but this time I made a big transfer (> $10000) and it worked just fine. Xoom made additional background checks to ensure the transaction is legitimate which was delayed the transfer little bit than normal but that's worth the wait for security reasons. I will definitely recommend Xoom to anyone!

Every time I have sent money I have had to call into the company because they would hold the account for extra verification or it's cancelled without telling me why. I tried sending money through this company since it was linked to my PayPal. After many hours they rejected me and upon asking why, they said they are not allowed to say. If there is a problem about me how am I not allowed to know? They then said I could send photo of my ID and copy of my bank statement. Really my bank statement? I got an email saying that my transfer didn’t go through. So, I called the representative and after we discussed the issue, she said the money will be sent. When I questioned her about why this isn’t going through, she said it was confidential. I said, what confidentiality is there in sending my money to the recipient? She didn’t give me a response on why it didn’t transfer. Then I got another email saying that the money didn’t go through, again. I am not sure what kind of operation they are running.

Xoom seems simple enough - no fees if your transfer is large enough, decent but not stellar exchange rates (they have to make money somewhere). But the success of Xoom transfers often depends on the weakest link - either within Xoom or their local banking partner. Xoom's 24-48 hr transfer promise is optimistic at best. Don't take much solace in the Xoom Money-Back Guarantee as it won't reimburse you any sooner than 30-days from the initiation of a claim.
I initiated a transfer from the US to a UK recipient at 8 AM PDT Friday 21 September and, although the Xoom app said that the transfer was completed at 4 AM PDT Wednesday 26 September - 68 hrs later, not counting Sat & Sun, as of 1 October, the funds had still not posted to the UK recipient's account. So, after 146 hrs (not including weekends) the funds still had not arrived. Xoom Customer Service had no information other than what was shown on the app. There was no explanation for the delay; they could not say where the funds had gone. What they did say was the problem could be with Xoom's banking partner in the UK. Lame.
When asked, Xoom was unable to provide transaction details that could either: help us trace the funds in the UK; or even prove that Xoom had actually initiated the transfer. Xoom said only that they would try to contact their UK banking partner and hopefully reply to us by email within 24 to 48 hours. Clock is still ticking... When asked about Xoom's Money-Back Guarantee - thinking that since the bank statements we sent to Xoom proved that the funds had not arrived, Xoom said that reimbursement would not be paid any sooner than 30 days. Explains why you can't find any other details on the guarantee on the web. Bottom Line: Transfer funds via Xoom ONLY if you, or your recipient, can afford to wait 30 days.

I have used Xoom twice and will not be using new again. The first time, my transaction went smoothly. The second time however, they needed verification which required ID, most recent back statement and a bunch of invasive questions such as “what’s the relation to the person you’re sending to, why are you sending money (specific reason of what they will do with the money) and how often will you be sending money.” I thought those questions were annoying but I understood and complied due to the fact that I was sending money overseas and for security purposes.
I sent my ID and Bank statement and after reviewing, they denied my verification because the part of my bank statement that I sent them did not have how much money I had in Munich bank account. I felt extremely uncomfortable sharing that information with them and the most suspicious part was that they couldn’t tell me WHY they needed the information. I cancelled my transaction and will not be using them again. Would not recommend.

I ran into trouble with my account recently and it was locked. I was asked to verify some information in it that I was unable to without being able to see my account, which I could not do. I have been using Xoom for years for transfers to the Philippines. I have never had a problem that I didn't create and for those I did, the staff always helped get it straight very quickly. I did have one issue that had to do with increased limits. I had been approved for higher limits for a few years, then all of a sudden I was back down to the lower limits. It took a number of emails, but ultimately my limits were reinstated without having to do all the verifications. That I can overlook, as it was taken care of. I just can't beat money being available for pickup within 30 seconds after sending it. And the price could only be considered expensive when sending small sums of money but once above say $100.00 it becomes inexpensive.

I’ve sent money to my family in the Philippines and it’s been very smooth. However it would really be great to change the page in which you order to be blank for the amount of money. It’s ok that the info for that sentee is there. However it doesn’t alert you that your sending the same amount as prior orders. I would have rated it 5 but that one little thing created a problem for me to cancel and have to make sure to resend a new amount. It's deceiving and troublesome.

I live in India, and trying to get money into my Indian account is costly and involved, so when I got an email from PayPay saying I could do transfers for only $4.99, it was like a dream come true. I was initially so impressed with Xoom, because of their instant money transfer internationally. However, after 3 months, the impression and quality of service deteriorated. Unfortunately, this might sound very weird. Even I could not believe on their behalf of what happened. Firstly, I started with my debt card transfer to an account in India. After, 3 months, these transfers weren't going through, because the Xoom always said it was an invalid code. I called customer care and verified on their information of why does it say that invalid when all my information remains correct. Xoom customer care tell me that, "the security code of my debt card has been expired. I should request for a new security code (CVV code)." I was mortified. How is this possible! Suddenly, my 5 star impression went down to 3 star. Now, I assumed it is something got to do with a bank.
Nowadays, they might have new rules to authenticate and on the same manner to align with, they have asked us to change CVV code often by requesting a new card. Now, the story gets more interesting as I call my Bank (Bank of America). They say, there is no such thing as a new CVV code request and the transaction did not happen since I entered incorrect data. Here it is, there is something fishy with Xoom user interface and it didn't allow any funds to be processed. And now, I wanted to go ahead with transfer from bank account, but, this too did not favor me. It took 3 business days to process. I am so disappointed with Xoom and now moved to another website for money transfer. I was so much impressed with Xoom and its reliable parent company PayPal, but everything went down the drain and my review went down to 1 star for the days I enjoyed so much in supporting my family.

I submitted a transfer of $100 online. Apparently, it went through until I received an email telling me they had to verify the transaction. I answered all their questions, including what the person receiving the money was going to do with it (which is none of their business). I had signed in to Xoom through PayPal, therefore they had all my information. Then they said I had to send a copy of my driver's license and the latest copy of my bank statement. That's where I drew the line. The conversation was very unpleasant, they made me feel as if I had committed a crime. The woman got very nasty when I told her I would not be using their services in the future. I WOULD NOT ADVICE ANYONE FROM USING THIS SERVICE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SUBMIT TO THIS HUMILIATING TREATMENT.

I send money internationally about 6 times a year and was delighted when I saw PayPal now had a service. WELL I’m NOT any more. I initiated my first transaction on 9/13. On 9/14 I received a call from Xoom for security verification. It took two calls and an email from me with a bank statement and ID. It was all done on 9/14 at 8:01 pm. I got notice today 9/18 the money hadn’t been received and when I called Xoom the transaction was cancelled because they claim to have not gotten documents. No notification of cancellation. I had to call.
They kept me on the line for 10 minutes or so then had a hard time finding a supervisor for me to talk to. I got sick of hold and hung up. The same CSR called me back and put me on hold again for a supervisor. No one came to the phone so I hung up. This is not what you should expect from PAYPAL. Use Walmart or Western Union and save yourself lots of time and energy. Paying the extra money is worth it!

I will never use XOOM again!!! They canceled my transaction without informing me. I provided the documentation that the Verification Customer Service Representative, the third one I spoke with that day requested. We walked through the process together to remove my first card; they needed either a PDF file copy of the statement or photos of the paper copy plus a valid picture identification, Government issued, which was provided.
The transaction went through. I requested text message updates, but received none. I got no phone call, email, text informing me of the cancellation. And when I called the XOOM Verification Customer Service Department several hours later, they could not find the paperwork I had previously sent. Both the Representative and the manager were more concerned about obtaining a PDF version of the card I used, regardless of the many times I told them that I did not have the account online; I received paper statements.
The manager did not follow through on sending the information to the corporate offices like he told me, to see if it would be approved; the reason the transaction was canceled, and why I needed to be verified. The manager said that was against their policy to say. I spoke with five representatives in the Verification Department. I received different replies every time, except for everyone stating that they NEEDED a PDF version of the card statement. This was the most exasperating, discouraging, and taxing experience in a long time!

Xoom is owned by PayPal. I have been a PayPal customer for 20 years and have made thousands of purchases using PayPal without a single problem. They know all about me and my bank account. I set up a Xoom account 4-5 years ago and made a single transfer to Canada. Today, I attempted to make another transfer and was told that the transfer had to be put on hold while it was being verified. I received a call informing me that I needed to submit a copy of a valid, government-issued ID and a copy of my bank statement. I submitted this information within 10 minutes and then called Xoom to confirm that they received it. They confirmed that the documentation was received and told me that it would take up to one business day to review.
In addition to the call, I received an email message indicating that the transfer was put on hold pending verification. The email also indicated that the transfer would be canceled if Xoom was unable to verify the transaction. I later attempted to log into my Xoom account to check whether the transfer had been clarified, but was unable to do so. I received a generic error message. I then requested that a link be sent to me to reset my password, but never received an email with a link. I checked my Spam folder and there was no email from Xoom. I then requested a link be sent to me again for a second time, but the result was the same.
I then called Xoom to ask about my password and was told that my User ID had been restricted while the transfer was being reviewed. I understand why I shouldn’t be allowed to make another transfer while one is being reviewed, but I should be able to log into my account to check the status of the verification. When I asked the telephone rep how I was supposed to know whether the transfer had been successfully verified, I was told that I would be sent an email. This information and the information about my account being restricted were not communicated anywhere.
Several hours later, I received another email indicating that my account could not be verified AND that my account had been canceled. There was no information in the email regarding why the transfer was not approved and why the account was canceled. So, I called Xoom again and was given the lame excuse that such information could not be provided for security reasons. Within minutes of finishing my conversation with Xoom, I logged into TransferWise.com and was able to successfully initiate the transaction without any problems. The bottom line here is that Xoom is extremely unfriendly to customers, provides a poor user experience and will probably be out of business soon if it doesn’t change the way it treats customers. Don’t waste your time with Xoom. Use an alternative such as Transferwise.com.

After numerous phone calls and emails my funds are still not transferred 1.5 weeks after initial date of intended transfer. They continue to request multiple pieces of information including identify documentation and bank statements which all were promptly sent only to be contacted again days later to request the exact same documentations. I will be utilizing alternative means to transfer money as this is one of the worst customer service experiences I have encountered from a banking/money transfer entity in a long time.

If you want to zoom your money transfer, do not use this service. Lengthy process verifying identity and bank statement. Very bureaucratic and archaic scripts for call center employees who are not helpful. If I want to expedite the process I need to verify what amount they are pulling out of my account. Lots of meaningless emails and phone calls over what should be an immediate simple transfer. Too many steps, too much time. Very frustrating, will never use again.

Be very careful, if you have an emergency do not use this service, is very bad in customer service, I was trying to send money from my account in the USA to my account in Colombia and for 11 days they told me lies, they don't matter me if you need to make an urgent transfer. Xoom is the worst service.
