I was able to send a quick amount to wish my sis happy birthday... who does not like quick cash :). She got to see the transaction come through while we were talking. She was thrilled!! On another transaction... I was also impressed when a transaction was declined and cancelled automatically when it was a business account, I had no idea that this person's account was a business account.
I called your agent. She tried to help and facilitated the transaction the third time and you still declined it... so even though the CSR explained but she made me feel that an exception could work and it did not... but I still think your experience is great so you still get 5 stars... Next time I won't waste my breath calling you all when I see the status clearly explained on the app! Zelle and Venmo are eating your lunch in domestic market but international transfer you rock!! Thank you!! Good work!

It’s wonderful having Xoom. It's very convenient. The only thing is I can’t send money less than a hundred. It makes me use other money remittances because of that rule. Hope it will change. I have been using Xoom for years already.

So I decided to give Xoom a try and I will never go back to the store to send money ever again. I can do it in the comfort of my own home without having to go anywhere, which is a big plus for me. It was very easy and the funds were ready almost immediately. I love XOOM and I will not stop using it. :)

Worst remittance service I've ever used. These people are RIDICULOUS! Tried to transfer $150 US to Jamaica since the 2/10/19 and, as of today, 2/20/19 the transaction is not completed. I even called, gave them all my details and they said that it would be done in 2 days. Prior to this I tried sending $50 US. Had a similar bad experience. It doesn't make sense. They treat you like you are some drug dealer or something attending a sentence hearing. To add to that, the reps from India were very rude. They don't care about your business based on their attitude towards you. Guess what, this is the last time I am doing business with these IDIOTS. I would prefer to pay a bit more to send my money without all the hassle. Not worth it.

I initially started off with a decent experience. The transfers I did to a friend who needed help in Brazil were fast. Until, however, another friend tried sending him money. Both of our accounts were banned for 'suspicious/fraudulent' activities and NO reasons were given to us, outside of a copy/paste automatic email telling us we were screwed. No way to contest and no explanation. All we received was, essentially, Xoom can pick and choose who to ban and not give any reason for it, all at the whims of a robot. Trying to be nice and help a friend? Banned. Try to reach out and chastise them for condescending customer service? Get talked down to like a dog for daring to ask what rule you broke in addition to another condescending, robotic response. Xoom: Don't try to help your friends or you'll be banned. A PayPal service.

I had a bad experience with Xoom. I recently opened an account with Xoom to send money to a friend in Thailand who wanted to buy some tools to groom her dog. I thought I was being a nice person to help my friend out. I connected my PayPal account with no big problem and got my friend to send over a bunch of personal information. I then did the transfer at what seemed like reasonable fees. I got a confirmation number saying that my transfer was pending. I was told to call Xoom. This is when the experience went downhill.
The customer service rep started interrogating me about my transaction in one of the most accusatory tones imaginable. No friendliness, just a mean-spirited tone. When I told my story, she did not lighten up one bit. After the call, she said that they needed to verify my phone number in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later they called and verified my phone number. But that was not enough. I was told my transaction would be transferred to her bosses. The next day I received an email saying my account had been closed and transaction cancelled. All for no apparent reason. I have plenty of money in my bank and it was a transfer straight out of my account. Xoom sucks. Try someone else where they make you feel like a human being instead of a criminal.

I am 24 hours into attempting to transfer money, 5 phone calls and 13 emails and no results. I am told the money can be returned to me within 3-5 banking days. What the... Every 4 hours I am notified of another document I need to send in addition to my driver's license, bank statement, utility bill, tax assessment. I am wondering how much info am I providing to whom? Meanwhile my ill friend, who is traveling in Mexico waits for money to see the doctor. Both of us glued to telephones waiting to hear what next is required for documentation. 4 hours of my life is gone trying to do this. Western Union next time.

Xoom, took my money, shut my account down for no apparent reason, and will not give me a reason why. I have filed through the BBB on them. I would not waste my time. I was sending some friends a monetary gift for Valentine's Day, and out of nowhere my account was flagged. I receive a call from a call center asking multiple questions and I have no clue why. The next day the transaction is cancelled and my account is closed. Please get a few people here in the U.S. on your customer service call center staff, because I could not understand anything that they were saying. PayPal needs to sever ties with this company immediately! Bad business.

I've used Xoom several times to send money directly to family members in a different country. It was convenient and easy. This time around, I had to call them to verify my account, my address, phone number, etc. Then I was interviewed about the money I was sending. After the interview, they told me they are canceling my transaction because I had told them that my aunt and I send money using MY bank account about once or twice a year. Apparently you can't do that? I will no longer be using Xoom. They made it seem like I was sending drug money or committing some sort of fraud when I was trying to help out my family. Their customer service sucks as well.

I used to LOVE Xoom, but this few times I try to send money to my brother you guys would cancel my orders with no excuse, and when I call they don’t really have a good explanation. I think if this happens again, I would stop using this service.

Since I travel a lot, I am always too far away from my family members (who are spread around the world) to be with them on special days. Being able to send money instantly so that they can buy for themselves what they would really like for their birthday takes a lot of strain off me and I know that they appreciate getting money (and notifications) into their bank account for that special occasion.

The price is good and the speed of transaction is excellent. One MAJOR thing is the security of the site... it is best that the site has a secondary password or code in order to log in to protect users. Like a code text to a phone number in addition to the password to log in. Other people who has my password can log into my account and send themselves some money, in one day, they would have the money because it is done via bank and cash. So this is a major concern.

I was banned by Xoom for no legitimate reason and without an appropriate explanation. Bad customer service. Bad communication. Bad ending for no reason. I work hard, I send money. It's simple. Xoom is not a good company.

PayPal wanted me to sign for Xoom. It was timely as I needed to send a small payment to pay a traffic ticket in Europe. After I processed the payment, they immediately canceled it with no explanation. When I called, I was told that it was canceled because the payment was to a government entity and not to a private non-commercial party. It was not really explained anywhere on their website well, but OK, I let it slide. Sometime later I needed to send money to a friend Russia. Zoom advertises that they do it all the time.
First time I put it through, it was immediately canceled. When I called to find out, they transferred me to a “verification” department and told me that they needed to verify my information for my own protection. OK, they asked me all kinds of questions and told me that I was successfully verified and I could now resend the money. Here we go again. I put the transaction through the second time. I immediately get a message that I need to call and to be verified again. I go through the same questions again, they again tell me that they verified everything and that the transaction is initiated and I will be contacted.
Transaction is shown as “started”. Then about 15 hours later I get a cancellation message, no explanation. Another 20 min later, I get a bomb, they closed my Xoom account altogether. Explanation? None. “We can close it at any time”. Well, PayPal customer of many years, thousands on commissions paid to them, - all means nothing. I guess they make money on dealing with real crooks who use the service to launder the illicit funds. Good riddance, Xoom...

In trying to send money to Cambodia, Xoom verification department cancelled the transaction, having decided that it was a commercial transaction (not allowed), which it was NOT. I clearly stated on several occasions that the money was entirely a gift. Repeated attempts to get a credible explanation and to speak to someone in a decision making authority were unsuccessful. I ended up wasting several days before concluding that Xoom placed little priority on customer service and was not very concerned about irresponsible decisions shielded by anonymity.

I really like this way of sending money. No hassle, no leaving home and very accurate and fast too. The reason why I don’t give a 5 star it’s because the money was supposed to be taken off my PayPal account not my personal account but besides that it’s a great way.

XOOM is always easy to use. All I have to do is go to their website using my iPhone and make the request to transfer the money and it is complete within an hour. I would recommend XOOM to anybody. They are fast and efficient!

I make mistake when was sending money to my brother, he couldn't get the money then I have to call Xoom to fix the problem. The person I talk to were so nice and professional helping me out. Then we fix the problem in few minutes.

I can say only good things using Xoom when sending money to my girlfriend. The transaction is quick and easy and is in my girlfriend's bank account within a few minutes. Never had any problems. Hi, my experience was bad because whoever spoke with me was rude and unprofessional, with this job and I spoke with 3 persons on this case, I open an account and send $100 to myself and later sent $1,518. That was when the problem started. They said they need my statement and ID and I sent the data page of my passport and she said it's not cleared, before I could send it again my transaction was canceled. Since then I have not been happy with Xoom.

My sister went and pick the money in Mexico and the person was to my end inrespectful. They never have money she have to go few times and to they have the Money we send. I think to switch to end other company.

Extremely disappointed with Xoom for putting me in a situation. Had to wire urgent funds to family back in india and got the following email: “Dear Marzban **, We're sorry, Xoom or our partner has encountered an unexpected problem processing transaction **. We've cancelled the transaction at this time and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to assist you. Xoom Customer Service”. Called customer service who gave me the same response as my email. This is the second time this has happened. The first time it took 3 days for my funds to reach india because of the same excuse about ‘unexpected error with partners in india’. Looking for another service to avoid such embarrassment again.

I sent to two persons. One with bank account that went thru and one to a person's email. There must have been something wrong with either email or name as you blocked me from using Xoom again. I can't send to the bank like it did before. I have no idea of what I did wrong.

I downloaded Remitly and I hated the fact that they wanted picture i.d. of my recipient in Mexico! I was so annoyed; that I deleted the app and got Xoom instead. Xoom looks more modern and easy to use. Money transfers immediately and without any holds or issues.

Xoom is very careful when it comes to preventing any illegal monetary activities, so you have a take the time to establish your bona fides. For some, that might seem unnecessary, but it also gives customers more safety. Once the bona fides are in place and your family members, or recipients, have provided official IDs etc. sending by Xoom is immediate and a very simple process. I recommend them highly.

I make monthly transfers to Brazil and Xoom is the easiest way. Once your receiver is set up, each transaction is just entering a value and approving. I shop exchange rates and xoom often beats other major transfer site rates. Rarely is it significantly less. I've used this service for many years and am very happy with it.

First transaction was perfect. No problem. Second and third transaction had me send in full copy of my monthly bank statements with all transactions and after numerous of calls for 2 days it was finally released and fourth transaction they took out funds the following day from my account which I had already changed it to be taken out from my debit card which they did instantly but funds were not released to the other party for 4 days. After my account had been reviews previously.

My problem was solved, but it happened because of your web page confusing me. I entered that I wanted to send the transaction and there was no immediate response. did it go thru? Did I not hit the button? I looked at my email for confirmation, nothing there either. So I resent, then I wondered if I sent 2 x? Later both sends appeared in my email. I think your response should be fast to eliminate any doubt, but I am glad your people solved the problem for me!

I send monies to the Philippines on a regular basis. Being able to transfer it from an account in the states directly into an account in the Philippines eliminates a lot of paperwork and opportunities for problems. Only once so far did I have a problem because of a Xoom software issue. We were able to get it resolved fairly quickly and I have not had another issue!! Very satisfied.

Always on time! Fast and easy to send money to the Philippines. I like it when Xoom texts me within minutes and email me when money had been picked up and deposited into your account. I don’t worry, when the person’s doesn’t tell me right away if they received the money. When the receivers notified me they already got the money, I’m already notified by Xoom! Great service money remittance compared to Western Union. Also cheaper remittance fees.

Transaction took 8 days, over 83 phone calls, 9 emails, and a great deal of pain. Xoom is bad, but its "local partner" - Pagados Internacionales - in Colombia is the worst. Liars, incompetents, and cheats. Xoom is the worst money transfer service in the world! I am telling my friends and posting my horrible experience all over the internet.

Amazing services... take 2 days for new account for my friends in China to receive money. For old account it only takes one business day or less. Exchange rate can be better. But fees are definitely reasonable if comparing to WU or MG.

Not living up to the what is mentioned on the site. I thought a transfer to HDFC Bank is instant after doing the first transfer which was actually instant but the 2nd one was not. It took 3 days. I felt the initial transfer was a deceiving tactic to make more transfers or stick to Xoom.

Never had any issues. I use this app frequently and will continue to use it. Money always arrives as per indicated when sending money to Mexico. Only suggestion: To be able to transfer dollars to dollars if desired.

I used Xoom because I have a PayPal account. First transfer went fine. I liked the added security to confirm my identity and verify who I was sending the money to for my protection. 2nd transfer I tried to send a load to a phone. The transaction was canceled until I sent picture of my ID and bank statement. I did so because I trust PayPal. I tried to send the load to the same phone again. It was canceled also. When I called to inquire why, I was told my information couldn’t be confirmed. I asked what I needed to do and was told there was nothing I could do. I would never be able to transfer money again using Xoom. I thanked them for the help, hung up and deleted the app from my phone. FYI, I have since sent money twice using western union with no issue or problems at all.

There’s a jack up in service fee, and I cannot even send half amount in dollar to dollar transaction. It's so disappointing that I’ve been using Xoom for years and now I might try to use other company with lower fees.

As a new customer I went online and sent money to a friend in the Philippines. After a lengthy evaluation period Xoom send the money. My friend found out that the flight he wanted was more. I sent additional and after several days Xoom refused. Don't use them. They can't decide if they are in this business or not.

Transferred $200 using Xoom on Jan 8th. It was put in the wrong account and we spent 3 weeks with email and calls to Xoom. I spoke with a two different supervisors - Loraine and Chris. Xoom representatives made commitments to contact me on numerous occasions which never came to fruition. I asked for the money-back guarantee and they kept saying that they were waiting on their partner and refused to give a refund. Still waiting... Trans ID: **

I thought I could trust Xoom because I've been a PayPal customer for 20 years. First, I decided to test the service by sending a smaller amount. $10 worked but ended up costing me $15 in fees. No big deal, as long as I can send a larger sum. When I tried to send a larger amount (nothing crazy), I was transferred to some kind of review department. They started asking me very personal and very intrusive questions. First, I thought it is some kind of scam, I even checked to make sure I called the right number. I kept asking, "Why do you need this information," and the answer was, "To protect the security of your account".
2 days later I got an email that my transaction was not approved and another email that my account was closed. When I called customer service, they gave me the same run-around, that they wanted to protect the security of my account apparently by closing it, that the transaction was already reviewed and nothing can be done, and that I violated their user agreement, which basically says they can refuse to service me and close my account at any time. Finally, they said I can appeal via email. It's been a week. So, they basically conned me out of $15, lied to me multiple times, and then refused service with no explanation. Avoid Xoom, there are better/cheaper options to transfer money overseas.

I'm a happy PayPal customer for a long time. So when I saw a Xoom service from PayPal I thought it should be a good fit for me. But I was completely wrong. They failed 2 times within a day: Nobody knows XOOM in my native country where I sent a transfer to my family. They do not mention anything on their website that a receiver should ask for a different company to get their money. We talked to three biggest banks in Ukraine and the answer was the same "We have no idea what you are talking about." If I sent money via some new/unknown service I would think forget about my money, it's a fraud. But it's a PayPal! Is it hard to notify your customers that you are working under a different name there? Really?
Instant cash pick up sounds so promising. Cheating... When I call their customer service the guy said it might take a few days for the processing. Then I asked to cancel my transfer. "No problem with that," he said. It's not gonna be any refund because we didn't charge your debit card. Another lie. When I checked my debit card balance next day I found out it was actually charged. My second call to customer service (somewhere in India with a terrible accent) was another failure. They said a thousand apologies, but it will take up to 6 business days. A supervisor just re-confirmed the same **. So does it sound like it's a right service from a well-known company? Definitely not to me. Stay away or do not expect what they promise!

It has taken 4 days of endless questions, document requests for both the sender and the receiver and the money is still not transferred. I was advised in writing that the transaction had been released on Jan 30th and the money was not available. Endless, excuses and apologies and the money is still not transferred. Finally at 6:30 PM on Friday night I am informed that the transaction will complete February 4th. A whole week for a minor transaction caused major damages, headaches and follow up delays. If it ever gets completed it will take 7 days for what is an urgent need with delays causing consequential damages that the company will not accept. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Tried to use Xoom to send money to UK. After a lot of back and forth they sent me an email cancelling my account and telling me that was irrevocable and final. Completely random. I have been a PayPal client for years with no problems and all of a sudden I am treated like a criminal for sending money to the UK. Completely bizarre.

I initially needed access to Xoom to send money to my wife, traveling in the Philippines. I already had a PayPal account (12 years old) and used it to build an account, authenticate, login to zoom. I went through the process (Who, when, where to transfer the money) and submitted the transaction. Thinking the transfer was done, I closed the window and went about my business. At around 9:30pm that Sunday night, I got a call from a supposed Xoom customer service rep stating they could not complete the transaction until I emailed them a copy of a PHOTO ID! Needless to say, I immediately got privacy and ID theft flags (Remember, I authenticated through my 12 year-old PayPal account who's Xoom's parent company).
In this day and age, why on Earth would Xoom require I send a copy of my ID to the Philippines (Or any other place for that matter) to complete authentication. It's a horrible and dangerous process. So, rather than send them the ID, I cancelled the transaction, closed my Xoom account and went to the local Western Union instead! I won't be dealing with Xoom in the future!

I tried to transfer $3,000 to my wife's account in Brazil. They asked me for several documents outside of what they say they will ask and I provided them all. They don't accept American Express as a card, so I used a Visa card that I am an authorized user from my wife. They denied the transaction saying that I can't use the card that I am authorized to use by my wife to send money to my own wife's account in Brazil. Like I said, not a serious company as they make rules as they go along. I recommend TransferWise, as they are much better.

I have tried for three weeks to switch my service to Xoom. Go as far as Put a Security Code in and it won't let me finish since I have no security code. I've tried by phone but time involved too long for my little phone with adding minutes each time. I'm a senior citizen trying to live on Social Security. Xoom DOES not care about this.

Xoom called me to verify my account, I have an excellent credit rating and a history with other transfer companies. After spending a great deal of time on verification, they canceled the transaction and closed the account without explanation. Calling customer services was a waste of time, they couldn't tell me anything and became rude. Never waste time with Xoom.

Xoom transferred my money to a wrong beneficiary and taking more than 3 weeks to resolve the issue. Contacted the customer service almost daily and there is no update still. I just made one transaction to send some money to my family in emergency as I thought Xoom was the fastest of all other money transfer services (as advertised) but believe me, this is the worst company you'd deal with. Money was removed from my checking account next day and then it took 7 business days for them to my brother's account. I called many times as money was needed in emergency but their excuse was totally stupid as they kept saying that it was delayed from my bank transfer. Where was the delayed if money was already removed from my account? They hold the fund and nobody takes responsibility of the transaction. Please, do not use this service anymore.

XOOM.com is Federally Registered as a Banking Institution permitted to operate in USA. Unfortunately it is acting like a 3rd world banking organization. We have been using its services as a US Registered NON PROFIT Organization to pay our employees and contractors abroad. We were duly approved as a Level III company. Xoom has suddenly, all of a sudden today without giving any reason, blocked our account making it impossible for us to send money to our employees. This is a violation of Fair Business Practices and I want our US agencies to investigate this matter.

As a nonprofit organization I just started using Xoom and sent the first transaction to Haiti without any problems. The next transaction that was sent was blocked with no reason given. After calling their support and sending a copy of my drivers licence and a copy of a bank statement the transaction was canceled and my account was closed with no reason given.
I emailed and appealed their decision and sent sent a copy of the letter from the Department of the Treasury granting the 501c3 status, another copy of the bank statement, a void copy of a check, a copy of the organization filing with the state of Ohio, another copy of my drivers licence and finally a copy of the IRS form 990 showing where all of the organization money was sent in Haiti and to whom for the year 2018. The same response was that pursuant to the user agreement, Xoom may, at any time and in its sole discretion, refuse any transaction... And discontinue the service. They would not give any other reason why the account was closed. Beware if trying to use Xoom, they may not be there when needed. Bad company!

I have been using Xoom for 4 plus. Recently I used Xoom to transfer money for an online course. My transaction got canceled immediately and when I called the Xoom Customer Service the representative was very harsh on me. Validating my account details are ok but he was asking me about what is the course that I am studying, why did I choose this training, etc. Also, he told me that Xoom is not responsible if my account was compromised. Surprising. I know if the trainer does not provide me with good training I can bear with it but why should my account get compromised? Most importantly the customer service was very harsh on me and told me that my account is on a security hold and they will keep asking me the questions to release my account... Closed my account after 4 years.

Xoom is the worst service provider for above 10k. They debit the sender account and it blocks sender from cancelling transaction. They hold the amount in the name of electronic clearance for 4 business days. The purpose of using with low rates is gone. Please go to other service providers. It is like you are waiting 5 days for low rates. You cannot even cancel transaction.

I'm very disappointed/frustrated with this company. I've been using PayPal for over 11 years now and I was excited about Xoom as well. Last year I made a transfer to Germany with no issues whatsoever. It was fast and fine. Today I had to transfer money to a friend. I received an e-mail saying that they needed to verify my information and that I had to call them.
Well, that's already wasting my time. I call them nonetheless and the woman starts asking me who I am sending the money to, what is my relationship with them, who they are, if I met them in real life and why I'm sending money. Like... That's personal information, I don't have to tell you why I'm sending money to them. If I am me, then yeah, I do authorize the transaction, and it's none of your business whether I know the person or the reason I'm sending them money.
They told me they'd call me back and then told me they'd need my documents sent to them so they could verify I'm me. Are you serious? Like, all this whole process already took over 30 minutes, and instead of being something simple and fast, it becomes troublesome and annoying. I'm never using Xoom again until they change this policy. Verify my information in another way; not by making me waste time taking pictures of my documents, emailing them to you and having to wait for a reply.

I've used numerous international transfer services over the years and this is by far the most inconvenient, time-consuming and expensive. The set-up process required the input of all kinds of personal information. Then they wanted me to scan in a copy of my driver's license and checking account statement. I complied with the request and then was asked for more financial data, including my brokerage and savings account statements. I have numerous financial accounts and relationships and didn't feel comfortable sharing this with a third party where the managers won't even share their last names. The customer service representatives, supervisors and manager I spoke with all refused to address my inquiries, and instead read from a script that was more or less irrelevant.
At one point they told me their procedures are required by Federal Regulations, which they latter backed off from. At first I thought these might be anti-money laundering requirements but my own bank said no such information should be required and even advised me against providing it. I couldn't get a good explanation as to why they needed so much of my personal financial information and data. I suspect they're running another business to sell such data. I would recommend Western Union far and above XOOM. Western Union didn't ask any of these questions, require financial data, or charge a high fee, and I assume they must comply with the same laws and regulations.
Western Union's fee was $8 compared to $45 from XOOM, plus the exchange rate for Western Union was far superior. I can't understand why their process is so onerous, expensive and unfriendly. It’s as if they don't want to be in the transfer business. Perhaps they have other motives all wound up with their parent company strategy, but suffice to say, I will never use them again.

Of the five transfers I've done, one failed. I accept that this happens sometimes, but I received an e-mail stating that it had gone through, so it took me manually verifying later on to discover the problem. This set me back a few days to figure out a better way to get the money that I needed to my account. If the system had a way of informing me when it failed, it would have been far easier for me.
Additionally, I once accidentally selected the wrong account to send money from--fair enough, my mistake. When I called to find out how to resolve the problem, the agent told me on the phone that I shouldn't worry, they'll just send it to collections. I escalated to a supervisor who provided me more accurate information, but you can imagine how stressed I was for the meantime when I believed I was having something sent to collections despite calling to ask how I can pay.
Customer service for a service like this is extremely important to me. Frankly, I am one more problem away from leaving the service entirely and switching to Transferwise. I have had several problems with offshore customer support this year from other companies, and I am tired of wasting my time talking to untrained agents who give incorrect information. The thought of having a thousand dollars "disappear" and my only source of assistance being someone who barely speaks English and can only read out of a binder is honestly terrifying to me.

I have used Xoom a number of times this past year but the last 2 attempts have failed. After sending them a number of documents per their request, the transaction were canceled. Copy of current bank statement, copy of statement showing last Xoom transfer, screenshot of money movement in account from last statement to current date. I provided everything they asked for but it was still insufficient information. What a joke. Western Union is the way I will be transferring money now. Less hassle and is deposited faster.

For me sending money to my country every two weeks is really easy because my parents don't need to stand on line for getting the money. It goes directly to their account and they decide how to take it out either little by little or the full amount. They can pay by check, by ATM card or cash so easy. The money is there in minutes and we never have a problem. I'll do recommended to anybody.

I spent months planning trip to South East Asia including calling Xoom in advance to make sure I could wire money to myself. Once in Philippines they won’t approve transaction even though I provided all documentation asked for plus verbal approval. What frustrates me is your customer support at times they don’t respond. Also there seems to be no desire to correct the problem as to making this and other transactions successful. I and my wife who is Philippine are both very unhappy about the situation. We planned on Xoom being our source of income for our two month trip. They can’t understand I dropped Verizon as my phone carrier while overseas!, and the only way I can communicate is by email.

I have been sending USD cash to family in the Philippines for almost 10 years, most of which has been sent through Xoom. The recent change of limiting to only denominations of $100.00 USD is a hindrance, as a lot of times it forces me to send more than required to meet my family's needs, which sometimes can be rough on me, as I am self-employed... The excuse I received over the phone when calling customer service was that "Many Xoom agents don't have the denominations on hand..." To whom it may concern. I’m very disappointed. As of this moment I’m in the Philippines. I come here every year. I have family here. I send money here 2 to 3 times a week. Dec I run out of money and I sent money here through Xoom and I was denied because I was out of the country. I gave customer service all my info and I was ask for bank statements etc that I didn’t have access to because I not home. I’m very disappointed in Xoom. They froze my account. I had to start a account with Moneygram to get money to help me survive. You didn’t do anything to help me. When I get back home I will call and file a complaint and cancel my account.

Team, I use Xoom to transfer money from US to India on every month/so. As per RBI rules transactions will not be processed on 2nd and 4th weekend of every month. I have transferred money unknowingly on those weekends and ran into issues. Strangely only a few Xoom customer support team members know by those rules. If Xoom can display a warning message for these kind of transactions will help customers. Thanks.

Updated on 01/02/2019: I continued to work with Xoom in an attempt to resolve my inability to receive the requested funds transfer. Yet another Xoom representative said that my transaction could be expedited if I would send Xoom a copy of my bank statement. However, upon accessing my bank account, I found that only a small balance was available. Reviewing the specific account information, I found that Xoom had already withdrawn the requested transfer 2-3 days earlier.
So in an attempt to determine why Xoom needed a copy of my bank statement when they had already debited my account days previously, I again called their call-center representative in the Philippines. Unable to resolve this issue, I asked to speak with a supervisor. When I informed the supervisor of all relevant details, I was placed on hold. Eventually, I was told that on the 2nd of January, Pacific date (3 January, Manila date), I could receive my funds. I was also informed that it would not be necessary for me to provide a copy of my bank statement, and that arrangements for transportation to Cebu City and for my bank to hold American currency in reserve for me would not have to be cancelled.
Just to make sure everything was in order, I called Xoom again the next morning, at 5:20 a.m. Speaking with yet another supervisor, I was now told that regardless of what the previous supervisor had said, my transfer would not be available until January 3rd, Pacific date (4 January, Manila date). Even though my bank statement shows that my account was debited by Xoom on 31 December for two transfers (reducing my bank balance to $382.59), this supervisor insisted that since Xoom does not communicate directly with my bank, until Xoom finishes their vetting process, they do not consider my money as having been received. So I don't have it, and they claim that they don't either.
The supervisor was unable to explain how neither I nor Xoom could have the money. She said that as things stood, I would not be able to receive my transfer until January 4th, or POSSIBLY sometime later on 3 January. She also advised me yet again to provide a copy of my bank statement so that my transaction could be expedited. Since my funds are anticipated to be available within the next 24 hours or so, emailing a copy of my bank statement would be pointless. The supervisor said that she was going to listen to the taped conversation I'd had with the previous supervisor the preceding afternoon. I hope that she did so, although that would not help me in this situation.
In the meantime, I've cancelled my transportation to Cebu City, and when my bank opens, I'll call to cancel their reservation of American currency in my name. In view of my recent experiences with Xoom, I shall not reschedule transportation or funds reservation until I receive the "Your funds are ready for pick-up" message from Xoom. Meanwhile, I'll start shopping around for another money transfer service.
Original Review: After dealing successfully with Xoom since 2013, I now find that I may have to find an alternative money transfer service. Xoom within the past few months has reduced the daily amount of money I can transfer, necessitating my making transfer on multiple dates. This is after Xoom has repeatedly indicated that if I was willing to disclose personal financial information that my daily transfer amount could be increased to $10,000. 00 per day. Xoom representatives have indicated that this is due to some "security concerns" (?) regarding the transfer of funds. I've been inconvenienced by this, but have been willing to comply.
During the most recent attempt to transfer funds, I'm informed that because my transfer must be verified with my bank, the transfer will not take place until after approximately one week. Normally, when I initiate a transfer, by the time I leave the Xoom website and return to my Gmail account, two messages are already posted by Xoom. The first would indicate the initiation of the transfer, and the second would indicate that the money was ready for pick-up. Now, however, I was informed of this delay of an uncertain number of days. I am therefore unable to determine when I should arrange for my bank to reserve funds for me, or when I should arrange for transportation to Cebu City to receive those funds.
The call-center agents here in the Philippines can only assure me that this recent difficulty is very unusual, which I would assume indicates that I should not expect to encounter this problem again. However, when they are informed that I've used the same Bank, the same bank account, the same amount of money being transferred, and the same recipients since 2013, they cannot really explain why Xoom has created this problem, other than some sort of need to verify with my bank the same information they've used for the past five years.
And when I contacted another call-center agent to cancel this transfer, I was told that the transfer could not simply be cancelled, but that transfer have to proceed until Xoom did their verification, AND that it would take another 2-3 business days for Xoom to return my funds. So I must either resign myself to waiting for approximately one week to receive my funds, or in cancelling my transfer, have to wait for an even longer period of time to have my funds returned me. This has all occurred within recent months, following a number of years of satisfactory service with Xoom. I cannot help wonder what's going on with Xoom?
In addition to this review, I've sent an email message to Xoom, (Sunday, December 30th/Philippine date) also expressing my dissatisfaction, and await a reply to that message. Does anybody in a position of responsibility really read these reviews, or am I just wasting my time trying to communicate with Xoom? As noted in my email message, I'm ready to cease dealing with Xoom if this poor service continues.

I have been using Xoom for several years transferring money to my family in Italy. On Dec. 3 I transferred funds to an account and it was returned. I was told that the issue was with my bank. I then transferred money to yet another Italian account and again the money was returned. I called Xoom right after the first return and customer service told me it would take 5 days or so to investigate and that they would get back to me. NO ONE EVER DID and my bank confirmed there are NO issues with their side of either of these transactions. In the meantime--and because I did not hear from Xoom, I found another way to send money. I am VERY disappointed in the service and wish someone would get back to me.

I sent multiple times using Xoom and never had an issue. Sent a few weeks back after 'PayPal', transaction failed with some security BS. It caused severe issue as I couldn't send my niece tuition fee in time. It wasted a few hours of my time. The next day, I was vexed with it and just used Remitly which worked right away and I'm done in few minutes. --- You lost a customer, ciao!

I successfully transferred $1,000 at monthly intervals twice but on the third month the transfer failed due to unknown reasons and your support tried to assist me without success. I made two more attempts on the third month and the transfer failed each time and I received a refund. There was no email communication from your company. I needed to move the money on a timely basis and changed to TransferWise which worked well. Done with Xoom.

I have been using Xoom for the past 2 years to send approximately 500 USD to my mother in law in Peru. For the most part except for one month the transactions have been timely and without problems. This last transfer I needed to send 10K to the same recipient and the same bank account because she was waiting for surgery. I sent the money on 12/18/18 and the money was taken out of my bank account on 12/21/18 and forwarded to the receiving bank. I never received ANY emails, phone calls or text messages at ANY time to notify me of a problem.
I called numerous times to the customer service department. I called daily from approximately 12/23 to 12/27 and the answer from the customer service department was the same. Xoom stated the money had been transferred to the Recipients bank (BCP) and that there was a technical problem on their end. I finally asked to speak to a customer service Supervisor on the 27th (Day 9 of the transaction) and I was then told that the compliance department of BCP required additional information. I never received any emails or prior contact from Xoom to make me aware of this.
I immediately scanned in all the required documents (ID, Bank Statements, Passport) at approximately 11pm on 12/27. I called several times on the 28th, 29th and was advised after several calls that the compliance department of BCP was not responding and finally that they were not open until January 2nd. At no time did I receive an e-mail update or phone call to advise of this from Xoom.
Many times when you call the customer service department at Xoom it is a bad connection because they use an overseas call center and the call gets disconnected or the connection is difficult to hear and the call is ended. There was never any effort to call back from Xoom during these disconnected calls and I would have to call back and explain the situation all over again. I will now be a total of 16 days before I will get an answer and all I have is hope that the money will be transferred. In the meantime my mother in law is in the hospital waiting for surgery and I am incurring extra hospital days because no one at Xoom has a contact number at the foreign bank to troubleshoot problem transfers after hours.
Xoom makes no effort to follow up or notify me of any progress or additional information requests. I have invested approximately 2 hours on the phone over the last 10 days and still have not resolved my transfer. It is hard to believe that Xoom, which is a subsidiary of PayPal, does not possess the clout or influence to make a phone call to someone at the foreign bank at any time to problem solve troublesome transactions. It appears that there is no tracking system at Xoom and it is entirely on the client to troubleshoot any problems or delays as Xoom will not contact you to advise.
Unfortunately, I may need to send more money for a funeral as a result of the endless delays and apparent incompetence at Xoom. I will not be using Xoom to send any money in the future and they have lost a potential lifetime customer. I will now spend the same amount of time, effort and energy for which I have spent calling the customer service department at Xoom to dissuade my friends, acquaintances and contacts on social media and other resources at my disposal to avoid using Xoom to avoid the poor customer service and inefficient problem solving skills of potential future potential clients.

1. My password did not work. I had recently changed it however on this transaction it did not work and I had to change it again. This has happened 2 or 3 times in the past year. I hope this does not continue to occur. 2. I was trying your new bank transfer which would save on the fees each month. When I was reading about the transfer somewhere it said that if it was transferred to a major bank the transfer would instant and ready to withdraw. BDO was listed as 1 of the major banks. However, upon reading the details on my receipt it states it is available on January 2, 2019. Please explain why? Please mail your reply. Thank you.

Transaction was finally cancelled because of the inability of Xoom's correspondent in Cameroon to deliver despite many many follow up calls. Pure hellish transaction, never seen before. Prior to this, I had wonderful interaction with Xoom.

I use this service to help two friends of mine, now and then, who both live outside the United States. One lives in Escuinapa, Mexico and the other lives in Manila, Philippines. Recently one of my friend's home was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Willa when it hit Escuinapa, Mexico. Xoom made it possible for me to get emergency money to her very quickly to help her.
My other friend who lives in the Philippines recently needed less crucial help. She had just landed a new job and the office staff of the company she works for was holding a Christmas party. She was expected to provide some food and a gift for another employee, but was embarrassed she didn't have the money to provide it. Her job was so new she had not received her first paycheck yet. Xoom helped me to help her save the day by sending her $50 instantly. She had emailed me for help about two hours before the party began, and two hours was just enough time for her to buy the food and the gift. Xoom has been the best fund-transfer mechanism I've ever used. Prior to Xoom I would use bank mediated transfers, which was always time consuming, laborious, expensive and inconvenient. No such problems with Xoom, whom are efficient, inexpensive, and conveniently deposit funds into accounts very quickly. What would take me days to achieve via banks, now only takes minutes. I think the fastest time for a transfer has been less than 3 minutes, from authorization with Xoom to actual deposit in the overseas account. Very impressive.

I've been using PayPal for years to transfer money from the US to France, so it was a natural to test out Xoom. First transaction; issues. I had to reinstate it. Second transaction, fine. Third transaction...right before I went on holidays...cancelled without reason. I tried it again, and although the second attempt worked, I received an email just a day afterwards saying it was cancelled. Although this referred to the cancelled one, the timing of it made it seem that my second attempt had been thwarted.
Long story short, I ended up with nearly $100 in bank fees. I spoke with Xoom's customer service on multiple occasions, one where they offered to reimburse me, only to send them my bank statement and get a response saying, "Yeah, we don't do that." Definitely not using them again; Transferwise has higher transaction fees but you get more money out of it because of their superior rates. Had Xoom's customer service stepped up and done what they promised over the phone, this would have been a different review.

I used Xoom service because they claimed they will transfer the money within 4 hours and my family in India needed that money next day. But they delayed the process and it is taking a week now to complete the transaction. When I contacted customer service, their answer was in some cases the transaction will take time for verification because I used a new account and I did not make a transaction for long time. If that was the case, they should have mentioned this in their site clearly not in fine prints, so that the user is aware of it.

Fast forward to now. I am overseas and my current bank suggested I use Xoom to transfer money to myself. I thought that since it was now affiliated with PayPal, I could trust the services it provides. Again, really poor service. I initiated a money transfer from my American bank to my overseas bank that should've taken no more than 24-hours to process (according to the customer service person on the other line). 3 days go by without word and I find myself calling customer service once more being transferred left and right with them asking for information they should've asked for in the first place.
Needless to say, I cancelled the transaction myself because dealing with this site and their services is more of a headache than they're worth. In short, unreliable service. Too much having to deal with customer services representatives who can barely speak English. Confusing ordeal that feels like you can be scammed out of your money.

I have been using Xoom for about 8 years now and until this transaction I haven't had any problems with the service. I sent money to someone in the U.K. on 21 December. The money was never deposited. When I called to see what was happening I was told that they were having a technical problem with their partner over and over again and when I asked when they expected it to be solved they just said that they didn't know.
After 5 days of calls and finally getting to speak to someone in the U.S head office. I was told I could have a refund. I had previously been told by everyone that I talked to including those who were supposed to be supervisors that they couldn't refund the money as they didn't know if their partner had received the money or not and I would just need to wait and that they would resolve the situation as soon as possible. I finally got to speak to someone who said the money will be refunded today... Still waiting for it to hit my bank. Not happy with the service this time and will not be so quick to use them again.

It’s hard to make transactions with Xoom. I complied with the documents they asked even if I had qualms about sending via email my personal information. After 3 days the company canceled my transaction. So I spoke with an agent, who talked lengthily and unnecessarily about those things - why they need those documents blah, blah, blah, you know after the already lengthy verification process. That my ID was verified okay, but the bank statement they wanted me to get the online copy even if I sent them a photocopy of my paper copy which I get monthly from my bank.
They just needed to see if there are funds in my account and I already showed that, consistent with my name and address shown in my ID. It’s not even a big sum, for heaven’s sake. Anyway, no thanks. For me Xoom already zoomed and panned out. Remitly is a lot better! Unfortunately I needed to try Xoom because I was trying to find a way to send money to a different country that Remitly isn’t serving yet. I’ll have to go do it the MoneyGram way again.

There is no complaint about this service except the troublesome and strict verification process. I helped my mother to do the first transaction, but Xoom requested talk directly to her to verify the account. There were no Xoom representatives that can talk with my mother by her language. I tried to teach her to repeat after me to answer questions from Xoom service persons. They needed at least one day to verify submitted documentations. My mother didn't get any response from Xoom whether Xoom verified already or not. Terribly, every time I called back Xoom on behalf of my mother, I still have to restart the verification process. The trouble lasted a week and I'm very tired of their policy of the verification process.

I tried sending money to India from Canada. Was easy to set up and send, but after 1 hr got an email saying there is some delay. 24 hours later I called to see progress as the money was taken out from my account. Customer service said their partner in India is experiencing some delay - wouldn't say what. I asked to find out what and keep me posted. Again 24 hours after that, no update, I called again to find out, same response from customer service. Then the next day, I got an email saying money transfer has been canceled altogether. 3 days wasted, with only to have the money transfer canceled for no actual reason given other than "technical difficulty" whatever that means.

First let me preface this by saying that I have been using XOOM for more than 4 years to put money into the same account in the Philippines, to pay for our house. I started a transfer on 12/2 after 2 days it was canceled by XOOM due to technical problems - I retried on 12/4 same result - I retried on 12/8 and this time was told the transfer went through - money was removed from my US account on 12/10 (normally the money would appear in the Philippine account the same day as when money is taken from US account).
Today is the 20th and, even though XOOM insists that the money was deposited, the Philippine bank has still not received the funds ($1000) - multiple calls and emails have resulted in excuse after excuse. Our partner says this or that, our records show this or that and even though we have provided copies of bank statements and communications with the bank in the Philippines showing NO DEPOSIT, XOOM is insisting the transfer was made and say they are investigating. Also to note the saved recipient info at XOOM for bank deposit (that has been on their site for 4+ years) was gone when I started this transfer, I had to re-enter the account and Bank information --however -- the bank we use in the Philippines is no longer listed in XOOM's drop-down list. I am so angry as they are basically refusing to honor their 'Money Back Guarantee'. I will not be using this service again as this specific transfer has been an epic failure on the part of XOOM.

I used Xoom for the first and last time 5 days ago. They charge $6.99 vs Western Union @ $7.00 for the exact same transfer doesn't inspire me. The fact that they have done none of what they said after multiple calls to customer service inspires me to write this review. Forewarned is forearmed! Tried to send money multiple times software errors occurred. Canceled the transaction completely prior to and completion. Email confirming transaction received. Total time about 5 minutes.
Almost a week later and Xoom has not released the hold on over $500.00 at Christmas time. I was promised calls from supervision didn't come. I called back supervisor of supervisors no authority to make decisions. Complaint was supposed to be escalated to Corporate Offices and a call coming Monday. Call hasn't arrived and it's Wednesday. Suggest you don't use this service unless you are hard up for that .01 cent. Deleted Xoom from my phone installed Western Unions app completed the transfer in minutes with no issues.

I've been using Xoom for over 5 years now and last Nov. 9, 2018, I was scammed by a hacker (it's a long story) to send $2,000 to the Philippines. The transaction was successful because the money was picked up within few minutes. I called (countless of times) Xoom and told them about my problem and that the person that picked up the money is fraudulent. There wasn't any sympathy from them whatsoever. They kept telling me to contact this department and that department, so obviously they do not talk to each other. It's almost a month and I haven't gotten any help from them.
I was asking them if they can give me a copy of the recipient's photo ID and the pick up location, but told that they couldn't give me the information needed. Then told me that only a subpoena from the police can give me the documents needed. But after talking to them for over a month, I'm not even sure if they will give the needed documents to the authority. Very poor customer, verification and collection service. I will never. Never do business with them again. Very unprofessional and can barely speak proper English agents. How can you talk to people if you can't even speak their language!!! Shame on you all!!!

I work in online customer service every day. I've had to listen to and deal with loads of people every day with a wide range of questions and concerns. I've also been given loads of empathy training to prepare me for this job. Someone should have given this training to the support people at Xoom. Of course, I don't handle more than a couple hundred euro, pounds or dollars at a times. So of course, I'm wondering why people who work with large amounts money have such a lack of transparency and empathy. I transferred a couple thousand dollars to pay for my wedding reception 6 business days ahead of time. I think their guarantee for transfer is 3-5 business days. But that's not really the point.
The first person I talked to gave me the general run-around, but did try to look into finding the money for me. However, the transfer was done incorrectly. The second person I talked to was unpleasant and rude to me. She kept telling me over and over again that she was certain the money was in my account while was looking at my account online seeing that the money was there. She hung up on me twice. She was clearly angry that she got my call the second time. She just didn't bother at all. The third person I talked to was generally helpful and promised to look into the case. However, she never sent the email to me with the information that would allow me to send my bank statements to her so that she could investigate. So in the end, she really didn't do anything at all.
I'm mainly annoyed that my money was so grossly mishandled. But I'm also annoyed because I have to answer to a quality team day in and day out at my customer service job. Do these people have any sort of accountability? I've transferred money at least 4 times with Xoom before and had a great experience. But this one horrible experience means I'll never trust them again.

Attempted to send $230 USD to a merchant in Sri Lanka. Immediately received email notice from Xoom that money was being 'processed" and provided with a transaction number. After 5 days, merchant had no notice of funds arriving. Upon calling Xoom support, they said they could provide no information or answers, and no resolution as to where the money was. My transfer history is empty - showing no evidence - zero - that any money was sent, in spite of having a transaction number from Xoom via their email. Nor does my account show that any bank account was associated with this account. Empty! Customer support was sub-par compared to US banking standards of customer support. For me, there are far too many kinks in this system for me to recommend Xoom to anyone at this time. I will continue to use Remitly or PayPal.

I've been using XOOM since 2016. Funds have always been delivered within a couple of days. Not this time though. I made two transfers on December 3rd, their status is shown as deposited, but the recipients didn't receive the money. I contacted customer support and was told they can't find the reference numbers of those transactions in the partner bank system. They asked me to email them bank statements. I provided all the information and heard nothing back. I emailed a few times since I could not get through to anyone on the phone. It's been over a week and my $200+ are nowhere to be seen with zero updates from XOOM. Very bad customer service. Avoid at all cost. I'll never use their service again and I'll file an official customer complaint with my state consumer office.

I transferred a large amount of cash from the US to the UK and got confirmation that the deposit was completed. Three days later, I get an e-mail from Xoom telling me that, oops, the transaction was cancelled. I called the number on the e-mail and the customer service reps knew nothing about it and insisted that the deposit had been made. I had to persuade them that it had not. They finally figured out that, apparently, a large number of transactions like mine had been cancelled due to a technical issue with their partner bank, Barclays. And here’s the kicker: despite the fact that they promise that they can do immediate transactions, it is going to take over a week for the money to be re-deposited in my US account. They offered very insincere apologies, but nothing else. I’ve had bad customer service experiences, but this was by far the worst. Stay away from them at all costs!

If you send money through Xoom their affiliates will give your family the runaround to pick up the money they need making them spend more money they don’t have. The code they give you will not be valid to their recipients in any location or identification. They advertise you only need the code and ID. But they make it hard to pick up. I send two time and had to cancel two times cause they will not give it. I even call customer service and they were not able to do anything about. You will only be frustrated and your family too trying to get your money. Don’t waste your time with Xoom.

The verification questions were inane and went far beyond address, ID, and bank statement. Not easy, not fast, not worth it. Phone staff completely inept. I went to Xoom through PayPal to transfer about 70 USD to an Cleaning service in Bangalore, India. I filled you all the form, submitted and in about an hour, I receive an email indicating I need to call them as it’s put on hold. I call them to get it through and they ask bunch of questions on exact information which are already on my form that I submitted. Then they started asking 'do you have another contact number', 'copy of DL', 'bank statement' etc. Really? For a 70 usd transfer? And that too when I come via PayPal, I expect a basic respect that am a trusted user in PayPal?
And then on opt of all this, they need another few days to transfer this money. Gosh! What is this service? So I left it, as I had better things to do with my time. I gave them the feedback right in the call as well, though I know they just don’t care. If this is how they treat new customers, I don’t know how they will stay in the market and make business. Is this an isolated experience and just for me? I hope they get their act together.

I initially transferred money to India on Nov 30th 2018, the money was taken from my account right away. But the recipient did not receive that money, they kept checking every days... no money! After 4 days on Dec 4th I got an email that the transaction did not go thru because of some technical issues and money was returned to my account. I understood that it was something to do with their IT framework or some such thing and initiated a transfer again on Dec 5, 2018, again the money was taken from my account right away.
When I asked to be transferred to their Complaints department or Legal department, I am told there is no such departments and instead given the phone number for the Corporate Headquarters! Such a SHAM!!!

For example, you offer free transfer of under $200 to be deposited in a Philippines Peso bank account, but you ** customers with your rate of exchange. Your rate of exchange is lower (meaning you give less) than BDO bank. That is the reason I opened a dollar account to avoid the exchange rate. But then, you increase your fee for dollar transfer into a dollar account. At the end, the customer loses and you win. But overall, your service is costly but almost excellent.

I used Xoom for the first time this month to send $400+ to pay for one of my Mom's nurses (she has two taking care of her & I pay their salaries). That transaction went thru just fine. The next day, I tried sending money to pay for my Mom's other nurse. The amount was only for $300. That transaction was placed on hold. I called Xoom to verify information they needed from me. They then asked that I email a copy of my U.S. Passport & bank statement in order to comply with their policies.
After a few hours, I received an email from Xoom informing me that they were not able to verify the documents I sent them therefore they are cancelling my transaction and placing a restriction on my account. It seems their system is weak & flawed if they cannot verify basic documents, such as a U.S. passport & bank statement of a major bank. I am not sending thousands of dollars. I'm only sending a few hundred dollars to pay for my mother's nurses. If they are going to give me a hard time with every transaction then I'm no longer interested in doing business with Xoom. I was told negative experiences about Xoom by my friends. I should have listened to them...

Sending money in the Philippines is not a problem at all and it only takes a couple of minutes plus given the updates that both parties received. Reliable as I have never encountered a problem with XOOM.

I use Xoom often and find it to be very secure. Whenever there I get a transaction canceled all I have to do is call the customer service number and confirm all my information and that shows me Xoom is very careful about new transactions.

Xoom is excellent service. It help me send money to love one at any time. Don’t have to wait to go to a place and stand in line and fill out form. I could do all that from the phone. Only wish I could use my PayPal credit to send money. Seen is owed by PayPal why not use the PayPal account. Not your only your banco account or credit card but also your PayPal credit. That my only issue. And also I would like to have a option to erase who I have send money to. That all. Thank you.

I will rate 5 if you guys don't delay my monthly transfer every time... always have to wait for 3-4 business day for the payment to be deliver... same person, same account, same money, you guys should’ve let me send it with no problem by now. But overall I like Xoom.

We have used Xoom many times over the last couple of years to send money to my wife's family in the Philippines. We are extremely happy with the ease and speed with which we can send money and the rates are very competitive. I initiated fund transfer at 12:17 AM EST 12/04/2018. Got email from Xoom at 12:22 am that transaction. I approached customer service at 12pm and they confirmed that, "We reviewed your transaction and can confirm the funds were paid out to the designated recipient. This closes our investigation, but we will be happy to review your recipient’s bank statement with you to help locate the deposit if needed." I sent Xoom my recipient's bank statement at 3pm showing no money has been credited. Called customer service again at 6.15 PM, but still no trace.
The supervisor is saying they will check at their counterpart during banking hours and get back to me. It has been around 19 hours but the money is not credited to my account. I have lost one crucial day as I had to make some urgent payments. Worst service this time Xoom. I am not happy. Why did you sent me email that money has been credited to my recipient account when it is not. And further pain why should I wait for another day when you can complete a new transaction in 2 hours.

Just wanted to take a minute to say that having access to Xoom to send my self money while living in Mexico makes my life so much simpler and stress free. Xoom is easy to use and lightning fast. I used to send money to a Mexican friend to pick up for me, then started sending it to myself once I found out that I could. No waiting an extra day for my bank to transfer the money. I love this app/service so much. I used to used MoneyGram and have to go all the way to CVS to do so once a month to send money from USA to UK. But now I can do it from my phone instantly with Xoom, it’s lots lots cheaper too. Very happy!!!

The service is based on a great concept. It's convenient and quick. The main problem is that the set amounts of currency to choose from for reloading rarely match the amounts of promos offered and the difference is wasted. For example, if a promo is 744php (the cost of an actual promo), the closest amount I can load is 900php. So on top of the 50php/1USD exchange profit they make, the 156php Is wasted. We should be able to enter the specific value we want to reload instead of selecting from preset amounts that rarely match any worthwhile promos.

This is simple. For the last 8 years, I have been sending money abroad once a month, 12 times per year. Now just because I am frugal and send dollars without conversion, you charge me a flat fee instead. At the level I send the money, it comes to $16 dollars a month, for something that I am certain gives Paypal/Xoom the freaking UNIVERSE a profit margin of $15.95.
So once again, why not throw in a free transfer every so often, or email coupons to those who use the service every month? When a friend asks for a recommendation, I tell them "sorry, I still haven't found what works best for me, you should shop around, stop at Xoom at the bottom, after all, they are just Paypal with a different name, I think they have too much of a hold on our money online anyway, and they don't like giving any back to loyal customers."

I consider it takes a good short of time to send money to Mexico, I mean it's not immediate, but it does not take half of day either, all the transfers I've made have been always secured and safe. Would highly recommend this service. Keep up the good work.

Love the instant deposit feature of Xoom and to be honest the nature justifies the name. Only thing is that the conversion rate is less but that too when you send less than $2000. Would love and be very happy if they have better conversion rate for the amounts less than $2000 as well.

Xoom had originally canceled one of my transactions but they claimed they had authorized it and the recipient had been credited. Unfortunately and to my great dissatisfaction, they blamed it on me that I did not allow the transaction, and had also suspended my account immediately (without checking with me first). I checked this with the transaction ID and specific dates, also checked more than thrice with my bank if they had not allowed suspecting fraud. I also emailed and called Xoom customer verification multiple items for the issue they claimed had happened, but with no response.
In addition to this, they also claimed they had not received fees for another transaction - this has costed me a lot of dissatisfaction and inconveniences as a customer and I am sorry to say I am still getting prompt emails about their collections, but receive no response. Now they have canceled my account too. I will never use Xoom again and have been greatly dissatisfied with their service.

I contacted Xoom first by email because they say that you need a USA account to be able to transfer money, and since the account I planned to use was in Puerto Rico (a territory of the USA) I wanted to know if they considered that as if it is in the USA, and I explained exactly that, I received an email telling me that you could only send money from the USA, and only that, not if Puerto Rico is considered part or not, I send another email with the reference to the first email and asked again, and was told to call them. I send another email telling them that I was out of the country, I was in Spain, and I couldn't call them, so they again send an email telling me to call them.
Since it was a time sensitive matter I decided to make the very expensive call. And again told them my question, and the woman who answered the phone told me 5 times 'You can send money from Puerto Rico as long as the method of payment is in the USA.' She answers like that every time I asked her point blank, "Do you as a company view PR as a payment method inside the USA."
After repainting that she told me that the bank address had to be from USA, and I told her, that is why I'm calling cause the address in Puerto Rico are **, PR, USA, just like in the states or in Virgin Islands etc. Then she proceeds to tell me that since you can send money TO Puerto Rico that means that is NOT considered part of USA. At the end of the day I'm not even sure if what she told me was true or she just wanted to be done with me, but the customer service from the first email who it read as if he didn't even saw my email, just copy/pasted some information, to the last call who I felt like didn't want to understand me or help me was just awful.
