I have used PayPal for years so had no qualms about trying their new service - Xoom Money Transfer. Where you are sending the money seem to have some bearing - number and types of pick up locations - but customer service when there is an issue is sorely lacking. Sent a transfer to Jamaica which is now 5 days ago and still not able to be picked up. Agents keep saying they will contact the vendor and update me. Not even a basic email to say "we are awaiting an answer". Recipient has gone to pick up multiple times - all unsuccessful - and each time having to pay a fare to get there...But of course that is not Xoom's concern. I am now told it will be ready tomorrow. I am not holding my breath. Cancelling means almost another week before I get my money back but that will be my next move. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with this service but happy to learn this before using it for an occasion that may have been urgent.

I have been using Xoom for years and have always found it convenient, safe and secure. However, since PayPal have acquired it the service has taken a serious nose dive. There have been significant alterations to the way they do business and the website has been altered to such a degree that it is almost certain you will make an error that will cost you. There is no ability to review a recipient's details once you have entered it and PayPal flat out refuse to provide you with a proper receipt of your transfer. All you get is a ridiculous pop up that says the transaction is complete. No good to man or beast. I spent 2hrs on the phone asking repeatedly for a receipt, as funds had not arrived as indicated, and all I got was 'The transfer is complete and the transaction is closed'. No help, no follow up and no support. Use Xoom and you risk losing your transferred funds and ending up with no way of determining where it went.

My husband and I using Xoom for 10 years today. On that year Xoom don't trust us but they want to trust them. My experience is I’ve try to log in to my Xoom account to send money in the Philippines but I can't get in because they need a security code which they sending to my old phone number that no longer exists, so I call to make a change for my new number so I can receive the code but they can't do anything on that. So I made a new account so I made a transaction. I've send money to my mom, when the time she pick up the transaction number that Xoom gave to me can't be found. It's time for me to use other company.

I use PayPal but have never used Xoom. Somehow despite not having my savings account linked to my PayPal account I have had an unauthorized transaction of over $2000 via Xoom using my account details which I NEVER GIVE OUT. All of my transactions are done from my main account and I manually move money around. There has obviously been a breach in the security somewhere and I am pissed. As far as I am aware, I will not ever use Xoom and am considering cancelling my PayPal account.

When I began using Xoom around 2 years ago it was excellent. Transfers went through almost immediately without any problems. However, in the last 6 months seemingly every one of my transfers gets delayed, often for days, and with absolutely no information regarding why those delays are occurring. I've sent them multiple forms of ID, clarified the relationship of the recipient (my wife), jumped through every hoop, but still: 3-5 days wait. Support is absolutely useless. Quick to tell you how it won't happen again, how they're sorry, how they will look into it, but the result is always the same: zero actual help, zero follow up, zero support. Talking to other expats living in the same region as us, it seems I'm not alone in experiencing endless delays backed by no explanation. They are terrible, look elsewhere.

I have been using Xoom for a very long time, almost 10 years. But what happened over last week has entirely changed my views and perception on XOOM!!! After I sent the money to my foreign account, money not received for 3 days past Xoom saying money was deposited. 2 more days to investigate and asking obnoxious & redundant questions and I having to get official certified documents from my foreign bank to prove all account information was correct they finally said something happened at their "foreign partner" end and money was not deposited. Mind you I have done more than 50 transactions with Xoom with no issues and this is first!!
Irresponsible customer service for an amount in excess of $2,200 and now I get an email asking to wait for 3 more days before I can have my money back!!!! I did not get service in the first place, and now they penalize me by holding my money back for a week since they debited my local bank!!!! And not caring to answer... This is bad customer service at best!

These people are liars and have such a morally superior view of themselves that all I can say is RUN AWAY! I tried to send $200 to a good friend in Africa. They stopped it, interrogated me with the most personal and private of questions that I answered. They then refused service without telling me the truth about why. They post the same language from the Jim Crow era that was meant to refuse ** entrance into hotels and restaurants. I suspect it was racially generated since I was sending money to an **. Calling customer service is like talking to the ** squad. Never again!

I am using XOOM I believe since they started. After becoming it as PayPal service I really like the fast deposits and better exchange rates. However, their procedure for sending higher amounts doesn't have any systematic rules. The customer support is completely useless, you don't get any straight answer. They repeatedly tell you a single story. I agree for security reasons they need background check and other formats of verification, but once verified and having a relationship with the customer's bank account still delaying a transaction seems somewhat confusing what they are looking for....but be careful when you try to do two transactions in a day or two....

I had use Xoom with little trouble at first then some overzealous employee cancel my transaction for 30 CANADIAN DOLLARS. I had to undergo some interrogation which surpass anything I've even seen by the senate commission review on political appointments on CNN. The compliance team makes you feel like a criminal without giving any evidence on which they base their decision. I would advise anyone to stay away who value not having their information use for some other unscrupulous means by this company without your consent. Zero ratings.

I attempted to issue a payment and was told that I would need to verify my account, which is understandable. So I called the number provided to verify over the phone. This was accepted but I was then told that I would need to also send government-issued ID, which was also understandable. I did this instantly after coming off the phone and hoped the payment would complete. Unfortunately, after 12 hours, there was still no sign of the payment.
A further 12 hours later (24 total), there was still no sign of the payment, nor was there any response to my email with the documentation. I decided to email again and ask whether the documentation had been verified, but another 12 hours later (36 total) I'd heard nothing back. I emailed again and then called (now at roughly 48 hours since issuing the payment) and was told that my documentation hadn't been checked. It was checked on the phone (and accepted) but I was then told that I would need to send proof of address (this was the first time proof of address had been requested). Deeply frustrating and painfully slow. The payment I made was urgent and I'm enormously disappointed in the service. I won't be using it again once this payment clears.

Tried to send a small sum of money to my fiancé overseas. I was called to "verify" the transaction which consisted of some reasonably personal questions about the nature of my relationship with my fiancé, asked by an individual at an overseas call center whose English could barely understand. Two days later, the transaction was declined and my account was closed for no apparent reason. (Neither I nor my fiancé have had any legal or financial issues.) If you want a service that will drag out a transaction for days and deny it, Xoom is the leader in their field! If you're actually looking to send money, there are other services that will accomplish it in literally a matter of seconds.

Xoom claims and advertise instant money transfer but never happens like this, they always try to make delay in transactions with multiple excuses. The most current excuse I found is: "Your payment is currently in the electronic check clearing process. During this time, your bank account is being verified, debited, and payment is being credited to Xoom. Normally, this process takes up to 3 business days." They have already withdrawn money from the bank account and not clearing it for transaction.

Sending money international. I initially sent money thru Xoom on several obvious. Yesterday I sent $2000 and was told it would take three to four days. So I cancelled the transaction then I get a call from a rep last night if I send money using my credit card it would get there quicker. I did this this morning at 900am and was told money would be there by 230. I called no money sent yet so I cancelled my transaction. They still gave me the run around. Don’t waste your time! Most of the agents don’t know what they are doing!!

Send $1800 for my relative in Indonesia was nightmare. Xoom said they (BCA) can't receive more than Rp 25.000.000. IDR, It took Xoom on delay for 4 days. Now waiting for refund (canceled) another 4 business Days.

I've used Xoom without fail for smaller transaction a lot of times. But last night when I used it using the exact same card for a moderately large transaction of 2,000 CAD I was asked to provide the verification documents which I did promptly. And then I received an email that the limit has been increased and I was transferred to the verification department which again asked me another document which I provided being on the same call. However I was then told that verification cannot be completed and now you are better of using some other service because now you won't be able to use Xoom even for smaller transaction.
My app login was locked. I fail to understand that what kind of verification is required because I provided my occupation, cc statement, bank statement, utility bill; can only think on my passport and property papers after this. Customer service was terrible to say the least with no information apart from repeatedly telling me that they can't do anything, neither can share the reason. Never using again.

I just tried transferring $500 from the U.S. to Colombia, and it was a total disaster. They advertise it as an easy process, but it's totally the opposite. I got an email saying I had to call to verify my information, so I did and the person I was speaking with was very rude and speaking so fast that I couldn't understand most of it. I asked him to slow down and I could hear him complaining about it and kept speaking even faster, so I decided to hang up and call back. Second time I called, although they made me wait in line quite long, I thought I was getting somewhere; they asked me to send them a picture of my ID for proof of verification. I did that and called back to see what was happening, and then they had me waiting in line over 10 minutes to tell me they couldn't verify anything, and she did not know why.
So I ask the lady why they advertise it as an easy process if it's such a hassle, and her answer was "sir you can cancel the transaction and try a different company".... really? Is that the customer service Xoom has? Or maybe she was just having a bad day. Anyways, I ask her to transfer me to her supervisor. I waited in line for another 10 min. When I spoke to him he made me wait in line three times telling me they were in the process of verifying my information, and then he said they would email me sometime during the day to let me know if my information had been verified, still unsure if the transaction could be made. That's when I lost it and told him to cancel the whole thing, and all he could say was, "ok it has been cancelled, have a great day." Does he honestly think I will have a great day after I lost about an hour and a half on the phone for nothing? At least apologize for not being able to help me. Xoom, you suck!

I tried to send a smaller amount and it worked just fine. A couple days later I tried to send $1100 and then the problems started. They called me and asked a ton of personal question made me wait for a day aaaand canceled the transaction and CLOSED my account. I tried to learn why and no definitive answer at all. To a message to Xoom people if they ever read this. Please let us know why you are closing our accounts.

Used Xoom for years, sent money in April, hit my bank account in Brazil the next day. Sent money again 16 May, and still nothing on the 18th of May, called twice to see what the issues was for a delay? First person did not speak hardly any English, second person said they would draft my account May 21!!!! WTF! Over! Cancelled the transaction, but they said they would draft the funds and then return? Never use these folks again, stay away; nothing but stress and stupidity.

I called them couple of times, customer representative has no idea what they talking about. Just saying sorry sorry sorry. I think they are doing outsourcing and that is main problem. I missed to tell them house direction i-e: NW, SW, EE. She was struck on it. Because I didn't tell her house direction, she can't verify my account. Really? What about DOB, account code... I gave them... but no. And the rate they are giving is not updating. I am getting same rate which was last month. How it could possible? Just had bad experience. Worst than Western Union people.

My cousin’s FB account was hacked and the fraudster asked me for $3200. I’ve never sent any Xoom transaction for over $500 especially overseas (Philippines). I heard about how they have a verification system for any unusual activity on the account however, the fraudulent recipient was able to pick up the $3200 within minutes. I complained and filed an affidavit of unauthorized charge as soon as I found it within a 2hr period that it was fraud. Xoom have me the runaround and promised to “investigate” but to this day I never heard back. Stay as far away as possible. I’d only use PayPal because although they have acquired Xoom, PayPal will not step in because they’re still working on some kinks with this newly acquired company. Stay away from Xoom!!! You’ve been warned!

I'm so frustrated with this money transfer. I send money to Nigeria and the first transaction it took weeks before my recipients receive the money. And for the second time I send again I thought it will gonna be fast because they already verified me and I'm going to send to the same person. But when I send it, after 24 hours they cancelled the transaction because they said in the email that they couldn't verify me.. This money transfer were so poor. And customer service were so bad. If there are lesser value than one star that is the rating I'm going to give them.

A couple of months ago I tried to wire $200 to Bulgaria for my partner's sisters birthday. The transaction was unilaterally cancelled by Xoom with little explanation. In addition, my account was closed as if I had done something illegal. Calling customer service in the Philippines was followed by numerous hand-offs and repeats of my customer information. I was never given a good reason for their treatment. I received emails from Xoom for offers and today I thought I would try and send the money again. It turns out my account is frozen. I then decided to call PayPal and file a complaint with them. This also was not a great experience as they took no ownership for follow up even though they are PayPal's partner for International wires. I would avoid doing business with either company.

After calling them on the phone, verifying credentials. All is good again but one thing I learned through this is you can send money to anyone with an email address through your PayPal account even easier as long as recipients have their email linked to there PayPal, useful for Thailand ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I send to friends in the Philippines often. It's been a wonderful experience until my last 2 transactions were cancelled without reason. So I let it go and sent to to another friend, which again was cancelled. I tried to contact them through email with zero response. Can't wait for cryptocurrency remittance to go mainstream so I can ditch both PayPal & Xoom.

Same poor experience as many others. I tested by sending $100 to my parent's account in India and it went through after a round of verifications on the phone. (Too heavy handed for $100). But I figured, at least it works and tried to send a bigger amount and they asked for a bunch more documents all the while always threatening to cancel transaction. I received confirmations that my account had been upgraded (by this point they have collected all possible personal information - financial & identity related). Then they canceled the transaction anyway and also have blocked me from logging back in. They just collect all your personal and financial information for nothing, I'd think twice before sharing all that information with them for no service.

Time consuming and very frustrating experience with the company. They have the backing of PayPal in all of their communications, but they provide a subpar service. Hours after placing a transaction order and getting a confirmation for the transaction we received another email asking to verify information and threatening to cancel a transaction. Made a phone call and a robot like person collected more personal information about the transaction after putting me on hold multiple times and eventually the transaction was cancelled anyway without adequate explanation as of why they are cancelling the transaction. The person who was supposed to get the money wasted hours of his time as well. Also understand that using Xoom Money Transfer you are not just paying a small transaction fee for the transfer itself, but you are losing much more money by them giving you a very unfair currency exchange rate.

If you want to live your life in peace, run from this service! I have sign up for an account, tried to send my first payment to a company in Bulgary, cancelled, reason "we do not send to companies"... Ok, tried my second transfer to a private in Italy. After 2 days I receive a message that my order cannot be completed because I have to call them. I call a USA number, first answer, an operator that speak a very bad English, I speak worse, finally we understand, he ask some personal info like DOB, name, address...
I try to silysics the Italian address. In the end he says that he needs to pass me to a colleague... I wait on the phone. After a few minutes someone answers the phone..Ask me again same info to confirm my account. All this in an infernal noise of operators. In the end she says that she must cancel the transfer because I cannot use the service to send from Italy to Italy and askes me a more recent utility bill to finally confirm the account. I send them the bill, I receive an email after 2 days that my account is now fully verified and I can send money.
Ok...No money to companies. No money to same country. I try this time to send to a private person in Bulgary. I make the transfer. Make the payment. After a few minutes I receive an email that my transaction was cancelled. I try again. Same result.. I contact them asking for info. This morning surprise... After I have spent over 10 euro on the phone last time... They want me to call them again!!! No way. This support is worst than amazon support which we all know that is the worst in the world!!! If you need to send money fast.. try google and choose any other service instead of Xoom. They say proudly a PayPal company...! I can prove all that I have said with emails and screenshots!-

My goal was to transfer $4000 to China. First I thought I did my research and then called them. I was told the transaction would be immediate. So I first tried $50. It went through immediately. Then I tried the rest and nightmare began. For a whole week I was on the phone with them answering the same questions and basically swimming in circles. Waiting for supervisors to call me back and sitting on hold.
I understand having to ask questions but personal ones like "who exactly was this person I was sending money to?" "what was our relationship?" "What kind of gift was it" Every time I called them it was lie after lie. Finally they sent a message to state to state it had passed the verification process and it would only be one more day. The following day, I received a message stating the transaction had been canceled. No explanation! NEVER AGAIN!

I don't even know where to start with how ridiculous and unprofessional the service Xoom is. PayPal directs you to website to a wire transfer to an international bank. You complete the process and enter all the required information. Xoom then takes the money from your account. This is where the emails and phone calls start.
Lots of personal questions, asking for pictures of bank statements, IDs, utility bills. All this happens over the phone, with an extremely low phone quality, with a strong accent making it extremely hard to understand or hear what they are saying. I asked them "Why do you need my bank statement? I've already shown a piece of physical mail with my address and name on it, which you requested. You then told me this was not sufficient."
"We need to see a PDF file of your bank statement to verify your address." So I sent them a PDF file of the bank statement showing my name and address, but blocking out my limit, interest, and pay details. Then they call me and ask me once again, "where were you when you submitted the transaction." I tell them, and they say, "Ok it's approved. Your recipient will receive funds by 8:00 am next business day."
5 minutes later I get another phone call, this time telling me, "Ok sorry the funds are no longer approved, we need a better copy of your bank statement." I ask them why the bank statement I sent them is not sufficient, along with the physical piece of mail you initially requested. He says, "we cant see the address". So I ask them what they need off the bank statement once again and they said "we need to see the address." I said the address is clearly posted on the bank statement.
Then finally he says, "No, we need to see the details." And I ask again, "What details do you need and why?" Immediately the person I am speaking with says "ok we are canceling your transaction." Literally because I asked a simple question of why do need to see the details on my bank statement, for funds they've already withdrawn from my account.
Xoom is dishonest, rude, deceitful, and makes you feel like they are going to take your personal information and do something wrong with it. Rather than being upfront with what they want, and why they need it, they slowly ease into more information requests, until they finally admit what they've wanted all along. This had delayed my items I need, caused disruptions through my daily routine, playing with around with email and frustrating phone calls. Something that should have been done within a week based off of the way they advertise their product, is now going to take twice as long. I no longer feel safe using Paypal or Xoom. I am extremely disappointed with their service.

This is the first time I am using Xoom to transfer some money to India. After the money is transferred from my account in Canada, I am still waiting for the transaction to go through in India after 3 days!! The app and the service rep say that there is a technical glitch and it should be resolved in 1 day. After 2 days wait, there is no further update and the money is still not transferred by their partners in India. Due to the long weekend, I may have to wait for another 3 days to get any further update on this transaction. Do not use this SLOW service for any transaction!!!

I left Western Union and switched to Xoom because of lowest fee in Xoom. Now I see that you have increased the fee from $4.99 to $5.99 within a month. Why??? Do you want me to go back to Western Union?

This is an outstanding system for transferring money to other countries. And it is so fast. In sending to some countries, by the time I have sent the amount, logged out, then logged in to my foreign account, the money is already there. Just think how many US banks make us wait 3 days for a US transfer.

My remittance to my son, Mark Anthony ** was received as scheduled in the amount I send. Thank you for your good service. This last few months, many are being victimized by cybercrime because I came to know that my daughter-in-law's neighbor and cousin were victimized. When they went to the bank BDO branch in Cavite, someone has already withdrawn their money. A big question mark. Hope this will not happen to me.

I have used XOOM numerous times, and have only had one issue over the past few years. My transfers have been to the Philippines and China. The money is in the account in China within a minute or two after sending. I would highly recommend this service.

So far my transactions have been smooth and easy. I even had a couple of times that something went wrong normally my side and they were very friendly on fixing my situations. Over the years only one time has there system been down so it's been a great way to send money to love ones and not leaving the house.

I have always used Xoom for years to send money to my family in the Philippines. I highly commend the excellent and speedy transfer and the transfer status notifications feature via text message or email. I like that there is a wide variety of options available for sending money in terms of currency (USD or PHP) and banks. It would be nice to have a single transaction fee per month (in case of multiple transfers in a month) for customers who send at least $500 in a single transaction per month. Thank you.

Xoom is my Money Transfer service of choice. I've had excellent experience with the speedy, fair delivery. The only thing one has to make sure is to correctly set the full name of the receiving party to make sure there are no problems in collecting. And the texts reporting the process all along is a great assurance that all is going well. I have great confidence in Xoom and have recommended it to my close ones.

Great service and cheap transaction fees - Much better than Moneygram and Western Union. I used to pay $7-$11. With Xoom, I pay $3-$5 only. And the service and selection is as extensive the big two I mentioned above. Very satisfied!!

I was trying to be a friend and send Money because that person had given me a story that he was on the road and had a small accident. I send the money thinking it was to help out, couple of hours later I find out it was a scam/fraud that once friend started passing the phone to other people telling me it was more money or else he would have to be send to jail. I even had a suppose human resources lady talk to me in which she couldn't give me her office address.
I quickly called Xoom's customer service and did a 5 day investigation. Came back saying that they couldn't do anything because technically I did do that transaction. I don't deny doing it but as a victim of fraud the company should be a little more considerate. I've never been a victim of such I have all the information. Of who I send money to but that was your company's decision and stated I couldn't do anything. I'm currently under investigation with my bank. If I could I wouldn't add any star.

I recently bought some property in Pakistan and I wanted to send money to close my deal but Xoom took over 3 business days. My deal was canceled. Somehow I convinced the seller and sent the money again through Xoom but it is delayed. I called Xoom many times but I was very unsatisfied. Next time I will use wire through my bank but definitely not Xoom.

Apparently they feel able to ask you a whole bunch of questions about who you are sending to, how you know them etc. in order to process a transaction. If you decline to provide this information, no go. I have now told them to cancel my account and delete my personal information. Let's see how that goes.

I tried to do a simple money transfer from Canada to Germany, and was planning to do that on a monthly basis. Everything seemed to go smoothly but, because we don't get mail to our home address we have a PO Box. But they don't accept PO as address, so my house address went in. Got an email back to call to verify my address. So I did, then they want a copy of Drivers Licence and a copy of proof of address, so I did and NOTHING. I called back. Same thing I had to explain the mailing address and the house address, okay they said, but... nothing!!!! 3 days into the suppose to be easy money transfer, (the money should have been already in Germany) phone them again, same thing again, address. I canceled the transfer, this is a ridiculous service. I won't try to use them again!!!!

The transaction did not go thru, they email me to call 1800 935 7154 and a 414 number. I keep calling that number and after a few automated questions, the response was always the same that, "We are not available, call us later." Very poor service for transaction to India. Recommend "DONT USE IT."

I should receive a payment from the US (to Romania) via Xoom. The payment was initiated 5 days ago, and not until now neither me or my partner in the US didn't receive any email notifications about the transaction status or money status... When I've contacted their customer support center - both by email and phone, they told me they can't give me - the receiver of the money, any info about the transaction, but also neither my partner get any answer. I sincerely advise anyone in the need of abroad money transfers NOT TO USE XOOM - the worst financial service I've seen by now. Instead, use any other money transfer services out there.

I wanted to send a small amount (less than $400) to a party in Switzerland. Just like so many others, Xoom immediately took the money from my account and then began an endless series of requests for more "verification" including asking for picture of current picture ID. I sent it to them then they said they couldn't read it for some reason. The next morning I sent it again and they said they received it and could read it but it will now take two days before they can "verify" my bank account and they will let me know if they will complete the transaction. Keep in mind they already have my money in their account.
It appears Xoom is set up to get the first deposit of funds then hang on to it as long as they can before cancelling the transaction or sending funds. I think this service works well for transactions between the US and Philippines or Mexico but anywhere else BEWARE. I'll never use this scam site again. I still don't know what's happening to my funds!!

My husband finally tried to open an account to send USD to overseas country to pick up when he get to the country (we are dual residents). I mind you always sent money to him and he would go pick it up with no issues. After sending him the friend referral to our surprise he was called and told he had to send verification he did so should bank statement and US passport for ID and his verification was denied. Also they canceled the transaction. We tried to called and get explanation. Was told they can’t give that information super weird. Then the next day I tried from my account to transfer funds so he can pick it up in his name. My transaction was cancelled.
I sent over 10 transfers to my husband's name without any issues before. Now when he tried to get his own account there’s an issue. No one is allowed to say what’s the issue and he’s basically blocked from the service. A service he never used before beside pick up funds I sent to him. I’m writing and officially complaining to everyone. I feel the was Targaryen and discriminated against. I’ve sent money to myself before and I sent money to him without any issue. Supervisors don’t call you back for assistance and no one can give information - super unprofessional, sketchy and I’m very upset. Any suggestions for a better service?

I've used Xoom for about a decade. I usually send money to my church in the Philippines but also I occasionally send money to family and friends. Xoom unexpectedly closed my account when I attempted to send $75.00 to a friend who needed help with her son's school costs. All attempts to restart the account were unsuccessful. The SMS notices sent to recipients at the time the transfers are arranged is a great way to notify them of the availability of the funds. I am very pleased with this service.

Set up an account (tried), to transfer a lousy $207CAD to Mexico. I normally use MoneyGram, but have used PayPal for many years with no issue. I thought I would give XOOM a try. What a mistake. First they send a reject email to verify my data. Wanted to know some real personal information that had absolutely nothing to do with my transfer. Then they wanted other information photocopies of Passport, Driver's license. To me it sent up red flags: This is all the data someone would need to steal your identity. When I asked where this data was being stored, I got a canned response about data security. I felt so uneasy I asked for the transaction to be canceled and my profile to be wiped. My advice, go with MoneyGram and stay clear of this data mining application.

This is the first time that I use Xoom for money transfer. They are claiming that they do fastest transfer, but in the end, it is more than 5 days, money is still not delivered yet. I strongly recommend using bank wire or Remitly services which is great conversion rate and much faster.

Well, my first and last use of their service was trying sending money to my girlfriend visiting Russia to buy a few things for me since we both found out that Russia is incredibly cheap country. They deduct the money, put the transaction on hold, then they send me an email that basically said that there are many scammers in Russia so I need to call to verify the transaction. I thought, ok, nice of them to try to warn the men falling for the scams and there would be no problem. My girlfriend last name is **, and sure when I can call them, they would clear the transaction.
Then I called them (they already took the money from my account by the way), a very condescending lady who couldn't really speak English talked to me about all the scams from Russia, then told me that she cannot authorize the transaction since she cannot verify that we have actually met each other and that we are not family. I then asked to talk to a supervisor, even more condescending and rude, told me the department made a decision and she is not going to overturn it and warn me again about the scams.
They canceled the transaction and hold my money for few days which I am sure they enjoyed the interest on. Then canceled my account since they said I violated their policy and no appeal is possible (Like I would have dealt with them ever again). I have never seen a more condescending ** my entire life. PayPal not only used a client, they lost a valued engineer whom they were trying to recruit for some time who would never consider working for them after this.

I tried to set up a Xoom account and send a single transaction to a family member overseas for a small amount of money. The transfer was from my bank account to their bank account. I was forced to go through a phone interview and then email a copy of my photo id and the next day my account was cancelled with no explanation. I'm not sure what the purpose of this service is since it apparently can't be used to send money overseas. They do excel at terrible customer service and not providing any direction or explanation of how to do things. I would post zero stars if possible. Don't even bother trying to set up an account, it's a total waste of time.

I initiated a transfer and I was told to upload my passport and an utility bill to prove identity. Which I did and then I received another e-mail saying my identity was not received and I again attached it and sent. I called customer service and they said my account is closed and they could not give a reason. I was told I will receive an e-mail. After few days I received an e-mail stating my account was closed and cannot be appealed. No one can explain why no reason was given. Customer service goes to Philippines and no explanations are given. Very frustrating experience.

But when I did send my money to them for the third time they cancelled my transaction because I need to send them government issued ID and proof of address. Several times transfers have been delayed to England. It is always the other party's fault. Take ownership and get your act together. You make money on the exchange rate - usually well below market and still charge a fee. Kind of a double screwing. If you were not so convenient I would go elsewhere.

I have tried to sent money by XOOM first time and was disappointed - my money was not sent. The transfer amount was taking from my account right away; few minutes after I initialized the transfer I received a phone call asking me to send an utility bill for a verification; I was told the verification normally takes 24 hours or less (It is not true!). I sent my utility bill right away, but did not hear from Xoom few days until I contacted them and asked to cancel the money transfer. I have not received the refund yet, will see. I would never try this service again.

Don't use this service... I sent them 02 pieces of valid gov photo identification for account verification purposes, Passport and Ontario ID; and they wouldn't accept either of them, even though that's what they ask for and is standard acceptable identification. What really doesn't make sense either, is that when you use your bank account, they send you a link to verify your banking info, which has you sign in to verify your account and yet they still won't accept your gov identification, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever... They also don't give you a reasonable explanation for the reasons behind them not accepting it.

First off it took you 5 days to tell me that the bank info want correct: three times. Then when I do the regular transfer I do each month, you had the nerve to ask all the personal info. I’d rather pay my bank an extra fee than share my personal info with you. In fact next month in, I’ll start using QuickBooks for the invoicing instead of PayPal. This is a super convenient way to send money international. It takes a few days to verify your ID for the first transaction. After that, everything just needs one click. I send money from the US to Vietnam and it takes only one night. The exchange rate is a little bit low but its convenience and dirt cheap sending fee ($2.99) win. Highly recommend!

Everything was fine up until maybe my last 3 transactions that all of a sudden I had to wait anywhere from to 3 days for the transaction to go through. Who in their right mind is going to wait that many days? I get that this company wants to protect their customers from fraud but their international verification process is absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Even after accepting any fraud possibilities they refused to send my transaction to my recipient. I was lectured on the possible long term mental and physical impacts fraud may have on me. I tried to transfer very small money about 100 dollar to China, and it took me about one month but finally they cancelled transaction. When I called them they said, "For your verification you need to submit the bank statement," and they didn't accept first one. I went to bank and they stamped the statement and I submit it to them. After week they said, "Please call us for confirmation," which I did, they said, "Well we cannot sent money and we have canceled the transaction and we have also closed your account!" If I could I would give Xoom a minus 10 and that would be generous. On 2/22/2019 I sent over $1000 from US to Mexico. The transaction was smooth and completed in 2 hours. On 2/27/2019 I initiated another payment of over $1000 dollars to the same recipient. After the request, I received a phone call from a Xoom representative who told me I had to go through a verification process before money could be sent. OK a little irritating because not necessary on first transaction. The questions started out with basic information I had already submitted. Then the rep asked who the recipient was and what was our relationship. The the rep asked WHAT THE MONEY WAS GOING TO BE USED FOR!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? She said that was standard procedure. I protested but was told it must be answered.
I was flustered and asked to speak to supervisor, who confirmed that was standard procedure. OK now I thought transaction will go forward. No, I was asked to send pic of my ID. OK. Then I was told transaction would take 1 to 3 days to complete. I was flabbergasted. What if it was an emergency? The response always the same; company procedure. I called numerous times to check on status. The last time I checked on their app I accidentally pressed the cancel button. I immediately called to explain my mistake and could they please reverse the cancellation request. NO can't do that. Submit a new request. EXCUSE ME!!! The proverbial last straw. Now comes the good part. The website explains the money was already deducted from my account. A REFUND CAN BE EXPECTED IN 5 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS!!! INCREDIBLE. After reading this anyone who would do business with Xoom is a masochist. Z.

Most of my experiences with XOOM have been pleasant and the app is fairly easy to navigate. But my last experience with a cancellation and refund has been a test of patients and has take some personal time to manage. They said they have refunded my money, but it has not shown up in my account. And they want me to send a copy of my bank statement to them for their review. I am currently traveling and my bank statements come at the end of each month. This makes getting my money back difficult.

I understand there might be rules and regulations that you need to follow but I end up sending just $300 that night and the following morning I sent another $2500 which went thru and was able to be picked up instantaneously instead of needing clearance for about 3 days. I doubt federal regulations changed overnight. Needless to say I yelled at one of the customer service lady and cancelled my money that night because I wasn't going to play the games that Xoom decides to impose that night.

When accessing Xoom through the webpage it's possible to specify a peso amount which calculates the $$$ amount for transfer but, when using the app I'm only allowed to specify a $$$ amount for transfer. (Unless this has been updated since I last tried). I normally use the web interface due to this reason. It would be nice if this option was available in the app.

Be careful with canceling a transfer. I got in trouble thinking I was canceling while I was not. $8,000 came out of my account. Thank goodness I was able to talk to someone knowledgeable who helped me and I was able to get the money back in no time. I like this easy way to transfer money overseas.

Some money transfer apps give us a code to make sure that the person who receive the money is the one that we approved. But what Xoom never share is that not always is necessary that code to pick up the money, they told me is depend of the place I send money. Long story short, I bought something online so I was supposed to let the other person know the code as soon I receive the package as guarantee.
But in Dominican Republic some places don’t ask for the code and just give the money to the person. I never receive the product and as soon I sent the money someone just picked it up when I did not share the code with anyone and after I complain about the security issues they just said “sorry, sometimes depend of the place you send the people can just take it without any code or number” and no one assisted me so I lost a big amount of money. I’ll make sure all my friends and family never use this app again and I still sharing how insecure the app is with everyone even at social media.

I routinely use Xoom to transfer money from my bank accounts in the US to my bank account in Guatemala. The very first transaction took a few days while everything was verified and set up. I've tried Western Union. It was okay I thought. Until a problem came up. I called their number and spoke to a representative. Explained my problem. And was directed to another department. That was when I found out that there is no live person there. Only answering machine. After numerous attempts to contact a live person was unsuccessful. I gave up. Also the representative was not so helpful. Not rude. But not helpful. So I found out about Xoom. And after learning that it is a Pay Pal Service. I gave it a try. And have been very satisfied ever since. Also the convenience of being able to do all my transactions on my own computer in the privacy of my home. At any time I need to do a transfer. Excellently well developed service system. I have had no issues where I needed to contact a representative. So I cannot comment to that part. So far so good. 5 stars for Xoom.

I have used this company for a while around 5 months to send to Mexico City, Mexico and to Managua, Nicaragua and had no problem whatsoever. Depending on how much you send and if it's going to be a cash pickup usually less than an hour it's ready for pickup or a deposit into a bank account. May take a day or two but they give you a chance to spend things up. They will let you know, so send with confidence.

I tried to send $60 US dollars through XOOM. I called customer service after they cancelled my transaction to find out why, they asked for my passport number and copies of my bank statements. I couldn't believe it... Why in the world would someone share their bank statement with anyone? For a lousy $60 they want my personal checking account statements. No WAY would I use or recommend these scammers.

My transaction caused my credit card company to send me a fraud alert and held up transaction. I called XOOM in response to their security emaiI. After answering several security questions in which I could barely understand the XOOM representative due to her very poor English and heavy accent, she could not approve transaction without a copy of my bank statement and ID. I refuse to provide this to her. I called back and spoke with another XOOM representative, once again horrible English and heavy accent made it very difficult to converse.
I cancelled transaction and deleted app from my phone. I refuse to do business with a company that can not clearly communicate the English language, after all we are talking about my money. They made me feel like I was being scammed by them and this is why I did not send bank statement and ID. I gave my business back to Western Union where there were no difficulties with transaction. I was really hoping and expecting a better experience from a PayPal company.

I have used Xoom before to send money to myself and my son in the Philippines. The last time It was unsuccessful. I'm sure it is due to my banking being in the US and my location being in the Philippines. I called Xoom at a later date to straighten the issues out. Your representatives were all very polite and friendly although I did have a problem understanding some of them. Next time I am in the US I will try to straighten out my account. My son is in college in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines and I had planned on using Xoom to send money to support his studies for two more years.

Xoom suspended my services and cancelled my transaction because someone else who sent a transfer to the same recipient which I send money to owes them money. I have impeccable history with using the service and have sent thousands of dollars to my 80 year old father outside the country. I was unfairly punished for something I don’t just have nothing to do with but no control over. You’ve lost my business for good. You have too many competitors for me to waste my time on a company that doesn’t appreciate my business. Incidentally, you disclosed to me that my family member (not spouse) has been sent to collections. I reached out to her to inform her that you’ve violated her privacy by doing so.

One of your partners (Cebuana Lhuillier) don’t want to release the money because they said that they can’t give 40,000 being it Sunday. I used to have 2 PayPal accounts -- each for a different purpose. Then, I was told I couldn't have two. So, I was told in order to send money anonymously to Canada, I'd need to use Zoom. Of course, you charge more to do that now than what I used to pay. So, I set up a Zoom account and kept my original Paypal account that I use for on-line purposes. Now, I got told I can't have a Zoom account AND a PayPal account. So, you made me cancel one of them. This is all annoying, especially now that I have to pay higher fees to make my payment to Canada each month. I seem to be stuck using you guys, but I only do for payments to Canada because I haven't found an alternative -- yet.

I selected my BOA account to transfer $3000 and $2600 in website. Later I found that money was being deducted from my DCU account which did not have funds and now I am being charged with overdraft fee of $30, 2 times from DCU. I called Xoom and got the transfer through my BOA account but I have still not got a refund of the overdraft fee which was collected from my DCU account.

I have used Xoom many times to send money to friends and family overseas. In all instances, Xoom has been very quick at the front end in processing the remittance. Xoom would send notification about the transaction, providing up to the minute information. If and when there was a delay in the funds reaching the recipient party, it was due to the corresponding bank at the back end needing more documentation about the recipient. In these cases Xoom would inform about the delay and what the requirements were to complete the transaction. In most cases, the transfer of funds took less than 10 hours. Based on this experience I recommend Xoom to my friends.

They treated most of my transactions as if each one was potentially illegal - very annoying!!!! WU seems to think they are the police... Is the safest and easiest way to send money outside the country directly to the other person's bank account. It has made my life a lot easier since I can do it any time from anywhere as long as I have internet and a smartphone or iPad or computer. For 2 days I have been trying to send money using your app, when I log in I get a second security screen prompting me to check my email for a 4 digit code, I have tried more than six times and no code is send. I call customer service, while on the phone I tried once again to log in and your rep said there’s nothing wrong on your end. It’s my email provider not allowing your email to come through, and now I miraculously get an email from your site asking me to rate your service! Really!

I was able to send a quick amount to wish my sis happy birthday... who does not like quick cash :). She got to see the transaction come through while we were talking. She was thrilled!! On another transaction... I was also impressed when a transaction was declined and cancelled automatically when it was a business account, I had no idea that this person's account was a business account.
I called your agent. She tried to help and facilitated the transaction the third time and you still declined it... so even though the CSR explained but she made me feel that an exception could work and it did not... but I still think your experience is great so you still get 5 stars...
