My purse was stolen in June 2015 by a supposed to be friend. They keep calling into Wal-Mart and changing the address back to their address and stealing my money. They are getting the new cards sent to them and spending my money. This is still going on to this day. I had to change it again today because this person called in and changed the address back to hers. I have called and called and called and Wal-Mart will not do anything to help me. I have tried to ask them to add a security question. They refuse me. They said that there is nothing that they can do about it. I am disabled and receive a check direct deposit for 879.00 in the last 2 months from the VA.
I have only received 300.00 from over 1600.00. I have changed my email address just in case they are receiving alerts. I have changed all my passwords. But Wal-Mart money card tells me as long as they have my information that there is nothing that they can do. I am begging someone to please help me and tell me what to do. Wal-Mart says my money is secured but how is that when I am not receiving any of my money and this other person gets my card and spends my money. Someone please help me. I am begging now.

Stealing over $2000.00 from me. Called them to ask, "Where is all my money again." Their response is always, there is a 30 day investigation time period, they will let me know. This has been going on for almost 2 years. Nothing but the runaround and sending me new cards to start over.. I WANT MY DAMN MONEY!!! I WORK TOO HARD IN THE HEAT AND RAIN TO HAVE IT STOLEN!! My wife puts little by little on it to help us save but what good does it do when you won't give it back. Give me all my money. Enough is enough!!!

I cancelled my Walmart MoneyCard about 2 months ago, and I was supposed to be issued with a refund check of $200. After waiting patiently for a month, and no check, decided to call them. A rep told me they will cancelled the lost check and resend another check and promising a supervisor will call me which never came today. 3 weeks passed and I decide to call them, now they claim my check was cashed on the June 2nd. I told them I never received nor cashed the check, which but all fell on deaf ears; they would hear none of it. On the 2nd of June I was out of state, so how could I have cashed the cheque? The rep said there is nothing they can do. I even asked them to send me an image of the check which they said they cannot provide and then hanged the phone. Am stuck contemplating my next action. This card not recommended for consumer use.

There was some site called Dot.com that had been taking $50 off my husband's card. He called and talked to a rep to see why and what the site was and to see if they could block this site from taking money off his card. Well the lady he spoke with told him she had taken care of the problem and he wouldn't have to worry about it. A week goes by the same site has taken more money off. He calls them again for the lady to tell him she's going to send him a new card with a different card number. He tells her not to deactivate the card he was using until after Thursday so he can get his check off of it. She does it anyway and hangs up. Mind you the new card they said was supposed to arrived two days was sent out to an address that does not exist and they are telling him there is nothing they can do but send out another one that will take 3-5 days.

I filed my taxes and put my direct deposit info to have the refund go into my Walmart money card. Two days before my refund is to be deposited, I find that MoneyCard no longer accepts tax refunds. Called customer service and they say they can't or won't help. Why the hell did they accept refunds in the first place if they're going to do this before the refund comes? I will be banking somewhere else from now on...

First of all I had my card number stolen. I reported it stolen on the 17th of June. All of our checks get deposited onto this card. Here we are June 29th and still haven't received our new card in the mail. Every single one of my bills are past due and my utilities are being shut off tomorrow. I have no more extension. I am now a month behind on all my bills because all of my money is on a card I have no access to. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND THE WALMART MONEY CARD. I will be taking every penny off my card once it arrives, so my best advice is do not get this card. It can ruin your life in just a matter of seconds. Oh and to top it all off when it was stolen 20.00 was stolen off of it too and guess what? Walmart can't replace that either. I am beyond mad. I believe they are a scam and they steal from you.
Ps. Thanks Walmart. My kids and I have to live without electric until my card gets here. Thanks a lot.

I was pissed because everything I said wasn't taken in consideration and on top of that they sent the new card to wrong address which the company had refunded my money back and then told me it will be another 10 days before I get a new card. I have access to no money and the acct. reps could not connect me with a supervisor. It’s going on 3 days. Every rep tell me the same thing. My card number was hacked on May 22, 2015. I called them right away and they told me they would immediately cancel my card and issue a new one. They said that I should have my new card by June 1st. Okay, whatever. It is what it is. June 3rd comes and still no replacement card. I call back and and was told I was given wrong information and the card would not be here until June 8th. I said that was unacceptable because that was not what I was originally told. I was told that there was nothing they could do, no apology, nothing. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told no. So I just gave up.
Called again today because I still do not have my card. Was told it should be here. I told them again it was not. I told them I needed a resolution today. I have no food to feed my kids, no gas in my car. All I got was that they'd issue a new card with expedited delivery, 3-5 business days. I said "how am I going to feed my kids?" They said that they didn't know and that was all they could offer. I called them heartless and hung up.
For Walmart, being an "American" company, maybe they should have representatives that work in the U.S. And for being family oriented, that's BS. Once I get my new card, I will withdraw every penny on there and never use it again. Another reason why I hate Walmart.

I recently made a purchase online with a major merchant on June 5, 2015 and since that purchase I have not had access to any of my money. My account has been frozen and I have called customer service for several days now to override this issue and no one has helped me. I have been lied to by numerous customer reps and supervisors giving me the run around on when I will have access to the rest of my funds. They blamed the merchant and stated that it had something to do with a reversal payment and I made a purchase. I contacted the merchant's customer service and they explained to me that nothing was showing pending or reversal on their end.
I could not go to work today because I have no gas in my car and no food in my home to feed my family. I am currently pregnant and I explain this to customer service of Walmart MoneyCard and they could not help me. They told I would have to wait until June 16th to access my money again because it takes up to ten calendar days for everything to clear when something like this happens and there was nothing they could do to override and release the rest of my funds to me. This has come at a very critical time in my life because I am the main financial supporter of my family at this time. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THE WALMART MONEYCARD TO ANYONE!!!!! I called to report my card stolen and to request a replacement. They told me that they would charge me 3 dollars and that it could take up to 2 weeks to receive a replacement via mail. I agreed and waited over 2 weeks, never to receive the card. I called the company and all that they had to tell me was that I should have received it and since I had it, I had to order a new one which included a second charge.
I told them that I am going to be moving in less than one week and therefore did not have two weeks to wait for another card that may or may not show up. My only other option was to order another card to be delivered express by FedEx to the tune of another $15, which who knows if that would even show up. My last paycheck is on that card and by the time I receive another one, if I didn't receive it at all, it will have a second paycheck on there. I have had no access to any of my funds and no means to pay any bills. Once this issue is resolved, I am never using this company for their services ever again.

First time getting a prepaid debit card and it worked well for the times I needed it on some transactions. The first time I had a problem was using the card online I was told temporary cards could only be used for certain services. I was upset because I had used it before the transaction before and had no issue, the lady in customer service said I can continue after I receive my real card. After receiving my real card I did not have any more issues except having merchants trying to overcharge. This time when I spoke with customer service they were happy to help me and stopping the matter. The last time was the nail on the casket. I had recently stayed at a hotel and they had double charged me, when I spoke with the hotel desk she quickly said she would fix the issue. I called customer service to inform them but they said because the charge was pending it wouldn't be released on the 13th of June.
The next day I get a email saying that my card has been temporarily turned off and to call customer service. I immediately called after reviewing the email. I called and spoke to a man I asked him what had taken place and he said that my card would be suspended for transactions that had taken place. I had to spend the remaining balance and that I would not be allowed to add money to my card any longer. Disturbed I asked what transaction had taken place to shut my card off. He then informed me he couldn't say because the computer instructs them what to do and that's all. I asked what would happen with the money I was waiting to come back on the card, he told me I had to wait until the 13th to check if it would be on the card if not dispute the transaction.
I then asked him how would I be able to dispute if I had to spend the money on my card and they were shutting it off he couldn't elaborate and how it would work. After attempting to ask again he only repeated that my money should be on my card from the hotel by the 13th if not file a dispute. Irritated I asked to speak with a supervisor because he was not understanding what I was asking about what would happen to the card by then. He informed me that they don't transfer to supervisors, the supervisors give you a call back within 48hrs of your concern. This is the worst card service ever. I will stick to my bank before ever going with another Walmart card. It sucks that Walmart makes billions and hires incompetent people to enforce their restrictions to get by on people.

I use the vault to store funds like a bank. I refill the other 2 cards online (therefore avoiding the $3 fee to refill them in the stores). I've had a very good experience using them to pay all types of services... including PayPal, online services, amazon, video game & app sites, clubs, bars, jukeboxes, cash machines, etc., Not everyone here has a complaint about this card... I told the Rep. that I didn't want there to be a hold, and that I authorized the charges in question. A hold was placed anyway. Unable to stop my direct deposits, I have had 3 and soon to be 4 checks deposited to that account with no access. That account was my main access to funds, so I have been without any money for over 2 weeks.
I have all the same complaints as are on this website. Poor customer service, hang-ups, excuses and lies. I have sent in my license verification over 10 times, and now they say they finally got it, but I have to wait 2 days. I'm quite confident that I won't have my funds in two days. I have filed a complaint with the FDIC Consumer complaint division as well as with my congressman, Wal-Mart Corporation, and BBB. I do believe that there are enough dissatisfied customers that a class action law suit can be started. This is illegal and needs to be STOPPED. I am the sole income producer in my home, and have not been able to pay ANY bills, buy gas, prescriptions or food for 16 days. In another two days, I will have my mortgage due, and my fine is $150.00 per day I'm late and loss of a very large deposit. I will sue to recover my costs should this happen.

I wish I would have seen all these reviews before I got this stupid card. My car was broken into on a Tuesday night. I didn't see it until Wednesday morning. I called to report my card stolen because my direct deposit would go in on Thursday morning (I told them this as well). They cancelled it and said they were sending me a new card. After doing this they told me I wouldn't have access to my money until the new card got to me. They estimated a delivery time of 2 1/2 weeks. This is completely unacceptable! I have bills to pay! They tell me there's nothing they can do. They can't transfer funds on to a new card, I can't go to a Wal-Mart and get my money.
I call my works payroll rep and she tells me to cancel the account completely. This way the direct deposit bounces back to them and they can put my money on a pay card in the store and I'll have it that day. I call back the Wal-Mart money card services. It takes 30 minutes of trying to work my way around the automated system to get to an actual person. When I finally get hold of a person and I explain the situation and tell her to cancel the account she tells me that it won't be necessary because her supervisor will be giving me all call back on Thursday and we'll get the money to me. Finally I feel relieved that I'm actually reviving customer service from a company that claims to be "just like a credit card”.
Thursday rolls around and I log into my account online and see my $700 deposit in it. I wait for a call and when one doesn't come I call them back. 15 minutes of trying to work the automated customer service number and 45 minute wait time I finally get hold of someone. They tell me there's nothing they can do. I say this is b.s I could have had my money but your people told me that the supervised would call me and get me my pay check! Or I would have just cancelled everything with this crap "company" and received my pay check from my payroll rep when it bounced back. But instead I stayed with you because I thought you'd be able to do the simple function you promised.
After yelling and on the verge of crying because I don't have my money to pay my car payment and insurance in a few days I finally give up after arguing about how there has to be something they can do. They told me the stolen account was cancelled, yet my money went onto it. They can't transfer those funds onto another card I can go buy at Wal-Mart. Even though I have my ID, social, and account number I can't go to Wal-Mart and get my money. They are literally holding it hostage. I hate this card! This is the second time my direct deposit was in my account but yet my transactions were declined. The first time, (about a year ago) my direct deposit did not post to my account until the next day causing all kinds of issues with late payments. I used bill pay about a month ago to pay my car insurance premium which took over 10 days to get to the merchant resulting in a late payment fee for my premium.
Now, today; I went to QT to get my coffee refill for $1.07 and was declined 3 times. (how embarrassing) When I tried to call the automated line to check my balance it said they were having "technical difficulties" and wouldn't even let me speak to a real person. When I got home to check my balance on the computer, my money was in my account, the QT purchase was "pending" not "declined" and I still have $100 pre-authorization for the gas pending in my account affecting my balance. I am so done with the Walmart Money Card. As a truck driver I use my Walmart Money Card for my personal financial necessities such as daily expenses and bill payment. Imagine my dismay to receive an email from Walmart Money Card stating that activity deemed unusual was cause for it to be suspended or turned off. After calling the provided number my card was turned back on. Great news considering my balance was over 1700.00. I was told that after I spend the remaining balance on my card that I would not be able to reload or purchase / activate another Walmart Money Card. Walmart corporate said and I quote "The Walmart Money Card is not intended to be used for business purposes." WTF!!!
First of all the name on my card is not a business. Second, since when did paying bills, ie: matters of personal responsibility including Child Support, Car insurance, Car payments, grocery stores, Cell Phone bills and occasional Ebay or Amazon purchases become the definition of operating a business. It's called trying to be responsible. I could be selling drugs to the siblings and or loved ones of those who managed Walmart business practices but I choose to make an honest living instead! After the remaining balance on my Walmart Money Card is spent Walmart will not have to worry about me or my "Business" affairs!!!

Most negative reviews seem to be from a complete lack of knowledge of the inner workings. First I was hit with the target scam. All my money was removed from the card in Florida. I called to file the complaint of theft, and was told the charge was pending so I couldn't do anything yet. I waited until the charge was finalized, and called again. Filled out the form they provided, and received my money back in the allotted time frame. I've had no negative encounters using this card. I buy online merchandise, and pay bills with it. I have direct deposit setup, and a text confirmation is sent to me every morning on payday. This card is far better than a bank card. There are no hidden away fees that will catch you off guard.
If you gave no money on it then you spent it. Some charges won't reflect for a day or two, but that's not the card. It's the company that you used the card at that's not processed the transaction yet. For instance my car, and credit card payments take at least two days before processed. So I will still see the money in my account even though I've used it already. Don't blame the card on your lack of knowledge. It works just as it should.

I am only giving 1 star because it is required. I would give none if it let me. I have had a Walmart money card for the past year and had them in the past. A week ago someone hacked my account and charged it for 200+ dollars. I called and they canceled the card and locked the account and sent us new cards. And unlike most banks I had to dispute the fraud issue myself which I did a week ago with no response as to whether I will receive the money that was stolen from me while GREEN DOT is making me feel like it is something I did. So a week later I receive my new cards, activate them and no more than 2 hours later I try to use the card and it is declined.
I receive an email stating the account was locked AGAIN for SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY. I call the customer support and all they can tell me is I have to wait another week or so for another card to be sent out while I have four kids to feed and bills to pay. When I ask the lady who canceled my card if there was a note as to who and why the account was frozen she tells me she can't give me that information. DAMIT. It is my account and my money. When asked if she as a supervisor can contact this person and get an answer she replies flat out no. GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I will no longer even shop at Walmart due to this issue and will be contacting the state's Attorney General. No other bank would keep your money from you if this problem occurred.

Please remember, if you are using this type of service, it's likely you have had financial problems or difficulty managing a traditional bank account. Your inability to manage money will continue regardless of the type of account you use. Bottom line, read the terms and conditions and be prepared for them. Otherwise be grateful for the service.

Today is payday and this morning I drove to my local gas station and put $20 in the tank. Mundane right? Not according to Wal-Mart MoneyCard. They flagged my account for "suspicious" activities. Buying gas at the gas station in the city I live in must be suspicious. Isn't the first time this has happened. Typically a call to Wal-Mart MoneyCard clears it right up. Not today. Today they suspended my card and I can expect a replacement... in 2 weeks. But if I pay them $15 I can get my card in 3-5 business days. Can you say extortion? Outside of that they refuse to do anything at all. They refuse to lift the block on my card. They refuse to allow us to have ANY access to OUR MONEY whatsoever.
So as of right now. This family of 7 has: 1) Absolutely NO food. Not a few items in the back of the pantry. NO FOOD, PERIOD. 2) No way to make my van payment, which has a block on the starter. So when I don't pay my van payment tomorrow my van will be SHUT OFF and I will not be able to drive anywhere. 3) Rent due NOW. My landlord graciously put it off from last paycheck. I have NO clue if he'll put it off again. 4) A water bill due, NOW. 5) Not to mention a multitude of other items we need paid. There has to be SOMETHING someone can do right NOW. We can NOT go 2 weeks without food or paying our bills. This is completely unacceptable.

After speaking with Green Dot Corp. the agent told me that once a card has been reported 'compromised' it is automatically frozen. My complaint is that the MoneyCard agent should have explained that company procedure and allowed me to cancel the report. I am a senior citizen and now have no funds to live on until the new card is delivered, creating a huge impact on my life.
Additionally, I was charged the $15.00 expedited fee which should have been waived completely. This is the second time my Wal-Mart Moneycard has been hacked. I have had the Walmart MoneyCard for a while. Each time I call, the agents are never helpful just like the ones that work in the Walmart stores. I called customer service for Walmart's MoneyCard because I noticed a charge on there I did not authorize, thinking maybe they could cancel it since it was still pending, they said no it can't be done. Like always, they can never help the customer, so the agent states she will cancel and send a new card. Told the agent several times not to cancel my card because I need my money, I need to be able to use my card and withdraw the money, told her it was ok, I'll just contact the company who charge the money. But this agent still cancelled my card with all my money on there, leaving me with no access or way to my funds.
I stressed to the lady that it is ok and no need to cancel it, so once I find out my card was canceled, I call the customer service line and talked to three different supposedly agents. The customer service agent rude and lied, she stated I could get my card FedEx but did know the details on how it works. So I ask to speak to a manager, she said there was none available, so I ask let me talk to someone else. She transferred me to someone else who was just as rude and took me for a joke, he stated it's nothing they can do - I will have to wait two weeks for the card. I ask for a supervisor, he transferred me to a supposed supervisor who laughs and kept laughing.
At this point they are making it a joke and not listening. I explain that this is the error on their company's end. I told him never asked for a new card or asked that my account was to be closed and they still did it anyways against my will, and I have no money access and they're telling me I have to wait two weeks for their error and to laugh at me. I'm at risk of not being able to pay my bills that are due and missing work because I have absolutely no cash on me, all my money was on that card. I DO NOT recommend ANYONE purchase a Wal-Mart money card. Every time I load money to my card, Wal-Mart takes money off my card. I added $40 to my card March 31, 2015. When the cashier added the amount, she said $6 was taken outside of the $3 I paid to have the money added. So Wal-Mart took $9 out of the $40 I added to my card. I asked her why was that amount taken. Of course she didn't know. She told me to call the number on the back of the card. So I called the number when I got in my car and the rep said the $6 was taken because I owed monthly fees. Smh. If they know I owe fees AND THEY HAVE MY CONTACT INFO IN THE SYSTEM, WHY WOULDN'T THEY CONTACT ME AND LET ME KNOW THIS? Oh, because it's a SCAM. So I said it's only $6. I'm not going to trip over $6.
So I had to rent a U-Haul truck April 25, 2015. I added $120 to my Wal-Mart money card on April 24, 2015. U-Haul charged me $76.06 for the miles, insurance, and truck itself. So that means my card should have a balance of $43.94. Guess what? It only has a balance of $15. I called the number on the back of my card again and the rep said Wal-Mart took $28 from me because I owed fees. How do I owe $28 worth of fees this time. The rep said I made purchases that didn't cover the amount that was on my card. First of all, the money card is NOT a credit card. It's NO WAY I can make purchases with a money card if the money is not available on the card. Smdh.
Again, EVERY TIME I add money to my card, Wal-Mart finds a reason to take my money. But the reasons are NOT LEGIT. Something has to be done about this money card. It's causing people too many problems and Wal-Mart is taking too much money from their customers. I've been a customer of Wal-Mart for a long time. To be treated like this by a company I ALWAYS spend my hard earned money with... it's not right and it makes me feel stupid. I'll be contacting the BBB about this situation. The person from corporate compliance transferred me to someone in customer service which is going send me a new debit card via express mail and charge my account $15 for service. They said it would take 3-5 business days and would not be mailed out until the following day. So, I'm screwed for the weekend. I have $10 in my pocket and $3,000 on a worthless debit card. If there are any legal types reading these complaints, please review to see if a class action lawsuit can be filed against the company.
I believe that they are intentionally holding people's funds by claiming to see "unusual activity" on the account. This gives the company justification to close your account down in the name of protecting the clients funds. Just imagine, how much investment income the company can earn if it just deactivated the cards of 10,000 card holders with an average tax refund of $3-4,000. That's $3-4,000,000. Suppose this occurs everyday for 3 months. The company has your funds at its disposal under false pretenses. They get the use of the funds for an additional 5-10 business days. Are you getting the picture? Its free money to the company until the new card is activated. Really grimy business practice. This has to stop!!!

Had noticed some other transactions were popping up here and there one being in a state I wasn't in at the time and representative stated 10 business days till I get it back. Seriously? You have my hundred dollars already and now you can't process a refund like you did couple days ago. Wow! American people beware this card and its overseas operations don't keep good records plus all the stories on here already. Aside from this issue the card works like it should. Don't get me wrong. For all those other stories it's not the card that is the issue. It's the fact that they make us wait for the funds that should be ours and it causes a lot of turmoil for those of us living day to day paycheck to paycheck. One of these days someone is going to die from a simple mistake and boy will it cost them big time. Get you act together Green Dot/Walmart. You have the resources use them.

I had a card through Wal-Mart for a few years without many problems (tax returns were always a pain) until my card was set to expire the end of this February (2015). I called approximately 10 times the last week of February to make sure new cards were on the way and was assured they were. When I called on the 26th they said the cards would arrive by March 5th, so I withdrew enough money to make it till then.
I work for the executive branch of the State in which I live and so my direct deposit went in on the 27th of February as it was the last working day of the month. Needless to say after reading the other reviews, on March 6th when I still had no working cards I called only to be told "the system" decided not to renew my account and that they would mail me a check for my balance "in a couple of weeks."
Here's where it gets even more horrible for my family and me. I got a new account at a real bank but of course was too late for the State to process before my paycheck for the end of March so my payroll department said when Wal-Mart rejects the deposit because the account is closed they would cut me a hard check. Well Wal-Mart ACCEPTED the deposit in my closed account that I can't access! Oh did I mention I still haven't received the check they said they would send and it's now April 8th? So now Wal-Mart has my last two month's pay and I can't feed my family.
I have spent countless hours on hold for supervisors only to get hung up on time and again. On April 6th they finally told me that for $15 I can have them send my check via FedEx which I jumped right on. They told me I could call back the next day and get a tracking number. Of course now when I call it tells me if I haven't received my refund in ten days to call back. I can't wait. Literally.

He lectured me on anticipating my expenses, cusses at me and when I asked to talk to someone over him he said only god is over me! On top of everything he hung up on me after many more rude comments like "You are nothing. You don't even have any cash!" I am livid! I have a Wal-Mart MasterCard MoneyCard which I have my paycheck directly deposited into. I had $818.00 in the account. My landlord doesn't take cards so I intended to pull out $800.00 to pay my rent. It declined. When I called them they said I could only withdraw $500.00 in one day. Fine. I will withdraw $500.00 and the next day get the rest. But my transaction was deemed suspicious by Wal-Mart and they cancelled my card. When I contacted their customer service they said there was no one I could speak to to resolve the issue. It had been turned over to their investigative division and I would simply have to wait for up to two weeks for a replacement card. When I asked to speak to someone in their investigation division they said that was impossible. Now I owe late fees of $25.00 plus $5.00 per day. On the 10th day of delinquency it goes to $10.00 per day. I may get evicted. I don't know what I am going to do.

I never been so upset with customer service reps more than I am upset with Walmart money card customer service. I requested for a new card in the mail and was told I would get it in two weeks which would have been April 2. Upon waiting for the arrival of the new card, I called customer service and ask is there any other way to access my funds which was about 5,000 while waiting for the new card, the rep said "Yes, just purchase a new card at walmart and go online and transfer the money." Come to find out, that's not even possible to do, so I wasted gas and 4 dollars on a card that's useless. So here comes april 3rd and I finally get a personalized card. Trying to activate, I get an error message saying the card doesn't match the one on file.
These ** sent me a card that has the wrong expiration date, and the numbers on the personalized card have the same numbers as the temporary card I was misled into purchasing. So not only did I not receive the replacement card for the original card on file, which I should have received today, they sent me the replacement card for the temporary card early and still manage to screw that card up with the expiration date. Now I have to wait two more weeks for a damn debit card. I'm going to open up a real bank account, and the customer service experience made it worst. I kept getting a run around, and they refused to transfer me to a corporate office in America.

I have this card for over a year. I received my income tax money into this card perfectly fine. I used some of the money that belong to me. Then the IRS had to verify my address so put a hold on the remainder balance on the acct. I quickly called the walmart card to verify why I was not able to use my card. They told me I had to contact the IRS department of treasury. I called them and they told me I had to verify my identity. I did - everything went well. They told me my money will be released. They return the money and walmart removed all the money from the acct. And send a check to the IRS dep of treasury and closed my acct. Now I called them to explain and they were rude, hung up in my face. No one wants to help me.
The IRS told me the funds were released right away, they did not understand why the money was not return electronically back to IRS..and why they will send a paper check to IRS treasury not my name. Now they have no trace that they received that money because it’s not under my name. I am very frustrated. It was not 5$. It was a bit more than 5,000 my money and now the walmart money card refuses to help me saying that is no longer their problem. To contact IRS.. When things like this happens you can’t trust no one with your money. Extremely dissatisfied. Do not recommend doing a DD to this card.

I've had a Walmart moneycard for years now and these past 2 1/2 have been hell with this money card. I had a payment set up with Sprint but they ended up taking more money than planned so I had got a refund. Sprint refunded my payment asap and I called the money card customer service (no one speaks any English by the way so you can't understand anyone but get so defensive when you ask to speak with someone who speaks fluent English and they never give me that person).
So when I spoke to someone about the refund they told me a hold will be placed on it for 10 days until they are notified otherwise which is bs because sprint notified them of the refund and I even tried to give them a confirmation # of the refund, that didn't matter. They said the system puts it in pending status until notification of the refund. So now my car note, phone bill, rent has to wait until April 7. Since sprint didn't tell me they were taking more money than expected, they deactivated my current card calling it "compromised" so now I have to wait for a whole new card which I didn't need and no money and can't even use the card I have.
I just do not understand why that if the refund went thru, why they just can't release it to me. I have to wait 10 days for the system to release the funds automatically and no supervisor can override the system which is even more bull. So now all my money is setting in limbo. On 3-5-15 a transaction was made totalling $411.95. The funds were on the card. The transaction declined according to the company it was made to because the wrong zip code was punched in on the automated system. According to Wal-Mart Credit card they first stated that it went through on their end. After further investigation they stated due to the mishap and it being declined the funds would be back on the card within 3 to 5 business days. This didn't happen! Then was told the funds are floating out there and the computer automatically generates a date for the funds to be put back on when something like this happens. Was told the computer generated the date of May 5, 2015. They were told this is unacceptable that there should be a faster way to get funds back.
After calling ever day demanding to speak to a supervisor (because no one wants to put you through to one) I finally got a manager on the phone on 3-11-2015 whom issued me a case number and stated that we would have to get the company to fax or email a statement of release of funds to them. She provided us with all the information we needed and stated once this was received it would take 2 business days for them to release the funds. Everything was taken care of that day and the other company verified the fax went through. I called back 3 days later and was informed by Wal-Mart Credit card nothing was received. I verified both the fax number and email address with them and told them I would have them send it again right away. After this was done, I waited a few hours and called back and they still claimed nothing was received on either end.
After trying to pull teeth arguing with them they finally gave me over to another manager. I am now issued another case number and this manager decides to make a conference call between all of us where she can have the other party on the phone with us. She verifies with them that they have all the correct information and waits while they send the fax through. She verifies that she receives it and everything on it is correct. At this point it is Friday, 3-20-2015. She states it takes 2 business days to process (not including the weekend) so the funds should be on my card no later than Tuesday, 3-24-15. I waited until Wednesday, 3-25-15 and called in the morning. I then spoke with another manager who tells me that the computer shows the case closed out on 3-23-15 and to keep checking my card during the day and the funds should be there.
I called again last night and spoke with yet another manager who then tells me that the computer does a system backup every night at 10 pm pacific time and takes up to 2 hrs. He states that the money will definitely be on my card after 2am central time on 3-26-15. He said when I wake up to call it and the funds will be there. My funds are STILL not on my card. I have already called this morning and was told the funds should have been there. It's too early for a manager, no one is in yet. I'm now being told that 2 emails were sent to the processing team and they have confirmation that they have been received. They are now saying it takes 24 hrs for the processing team to process and the funds should be on my card sometime tomorrow. States if not to call back and ask for a Corporate Manager.
As you can see I am getting nowhere with this company, have been lied to numerous times, have the hardest time getting through to a manager, and still do not have my money. Not to mention I can't understand half of them and have even been hung up on. I am a very furious camper right now.

Wal-mart advertised their prepaid cards for direct deposit, claiming you get your money faster. This is garbage! My husband and I deposited our taxes and his VA compensation on this card and now we can't access our money at all due to a "security block"!! I have been on the phone with them since 3/11/15. It is now 3/21/15 and I have already sent (via the link they e-mailed me) my driver's license in 3 times. The link uploaded my ID each time, stated it was received and it was being processed. They claim it would be removed within two business days. My husband and I moved, not knowing that Green Dot bank would put a hold on our own money. We cannot move into our new place, buy groceries, or pay for my car payment.
I'm typing this on my phone because I had to pawn my laptop, tools and a few other things just to get a hotel so our two year old wouldn't have to sleep in the car because he has severe medical disabilities and his nebulizer plugs into the wall like in your house, just like the one we would have if Wal-mart lived up to what they advertised!! I'm furious! I have talked to numerous customer service people who could care less that my son has been in the hospital three times because of this and that essentially we are homeless. I can't even get a loan on the money because we don't have a permanent mailing address. My husband is a disabled veteran who fought for his country. I worked my tail off for that money so we could move closer to a VA to get my husband the care he needs and now we are worse off.
If, when I wake up Monday morning, and can't access my own hard earned money, I will be hiring a lawyer due to the fact that it's been longer than 2 business days and that is breach of contract! I screen shotted the fact that have now received my ID three times and I am still living in a hotel with my disabled son and husband!! This is beyond pathetic! Anyone who knows how to fix this in the meantime please email me.

After shopping online and being charged double by mistake, the online company I was dealing with immediately issued a refund to my card. That refund will take 15 days to reach my card. When calling the customer service number for the Wal-Mart Card, I was told there was no way for them to verify the refund until the agreed release date for my initial purchase. While I understand the theory to my problem, I feel the 15 day pending transaction is an unacceptable amount of time to wait for a refund to my card.
On a personal note, this debacle has cost my family a planned spring break vacation. I am going to be out the money for the hotel as well since we are not longer able to travel because of the hold on my card. After talking with rather rude and condescending customer service reps and supervisors, denied access to any higher level personnel for a complaint, I am one dissatisfied customer. Wal-Mart Money Card is NOT a good alternative to a traditional credit card, even for those of us trying to limit our personal debt. I would definitely NOT recommend this card service to anyone, ever.

I have had my Wal-Mart money card for at least 6 years and have been extremely happy with it until today. They sent my new card to the old address and when I tried to remedy it with them, it was a hellish nightmare. First, they had me answer questions about cars that were registered to my address that I lived at years ago that weren't even in my name, then the birthday of a distant ex relative I never really knew anyway, and to make matters worse, it was all done in a conversation with someone who really didn't have good English but thought they did. Then after that fiasco, they took it upon theirselves to put block on my card that doesn't even expire till the end of the month.
So I had to load up my 66 year old disabled self and 2 young grandkids and drive 30 miles on empty to fix the problem only to be told it will take them several days because it's confidential information except I just gave it to every Tom, Dick and Harry foreigner. Go figure! Wal-Mart, I'm disappointed and I couldn't even make a complaint because I was hung up on several times. I guess you can only answer the questionnaire survey if you are giving a good rating.

I have used the Walmart MoneyCard for many years. I am a disabled veteran and I also am housebound. I buy a lot of silver and coins and things online with a Walmart moneycard. I decline to have my military retirement put to the card because of the complaints about the card, however the last couple of weeks, I paid a bill with the card and the agency that use the card made a mistake and charged the wrong amount. They corrected their mistake within a couple or three seconds, they assured me the 150 dollars would be credited back to my Walmart moneycard by midnight. However the next morning, it was not there. For 2 solid weeks, exactly 14 days, I spoke every other day with a Walmart representative at walmartmoneycard.com. The representative, I should say, they assured me that it takes 14 days for the card or the amount of money that they posted or corrected to be put back on my card as a credit.
I waited and waited, I did not see the amount of money back to my card. The more I called, the more angry they got, then I noticed some inconsistencies with the representatives statements. Yesterday would have been the two week cut off, I call as usual and ask them if they were sure that it would go on my card that day, a representative assured me that it would, that when the system rebooted, that all the information just like any other bank would compile at a certain time, at that time the 150 dollars would be credited back to my account. I waited patiently, look at my computer and after the information was compiled, it did not post to my card.
I then called the Walmart moneycard customer representative and she told me the money was put back on my card a week prior to me speaking with her. I could not believe what I was hearing, knowing the full two weeks had passed, they either had to say that they put the money back or admit to taking it. Their time limit was up and I couldn't believe they would go to that type of low and tell me they credited my card. I told the representative that I had literally spent thousands of dollars with this card to tell me that they had credited my account when I am looking at my account online and to have several representatives tell me each and every day that the money will go on in two weeks. And once the time limit was up, to tell me, "oh we already credited your account", knowing full well I'm looking at it at that moment, this I will not tolerate, stealing one hundred and fifty dollars from me, you might as well have stoled 15000.
I will no longer deal with Walmart moneycard. I do not recommended this card, there is something I cannot put my finger on. Each representative had a different story and I even had one representative tell me or should I say let it slip, she said and I quote, "oh I'm sorry sir, you're one of the people we are supposed to try to keep that statement there." Really upset me because I knew then they understood how many thousands of dollars I was spending, but it's as if I were spending that much money they did not honor me as well as someone that did. That is no way for a company to conduct business, they do not have a way to email anyone in the company.
I firmly do not trust the company email or any representative thereof and I recommend you, stay away from this card. It is not worth the hassle. you may not experience the hassle the first week, but you will down the line have severe trouble with this card. I would completely stay away from any type of card dealing with walmartmoneycard.com.

Apparently, last week or so they decided "Let's send spam mail to this address!" and sent me an unsolicited new card to register and activate. Luckily, it's had no effect (as far as I know) on my current card's account.
My question is: Where the hell can I find a human being to talk to dispute the missing funds on my account? I cancelled my GED tests, so the money should have been refunded to my account (of course, it's only been a few hours at this point), but still. I am sick of being sent to the automated "customer service". Who the ** do I call? This is upsetting, and I am terrified that Walmart will refuse to give me my refunded money. Told me to turn around and go back to station, in which I did causing me to be 45 minutes late to my work meeting.
This was not gas station’s fault. Bottom line the pre auth depends on how much money is in your account. Told me it was Shell’s fault of course when it wasn't. WALMART held my money for 2 WEEKS. Told me I needed to go inside next time. Umm I did a debit transaction firstly and secondly why should I have to be forced to get my 2yo and 7yo out of the car when I have a DEBIT CARD? I give them the benefit of doubt. We use this card for Child Support exchange until the courts can start taking it out of his check. This account costs us a minimum of $15. A month.
2 weeks later I am looking at something on Amazon. This account info is on Amazon. I sit my phone down. My 2 yo picks up my phone and hits all kinds of stuff. It ordered the product I was looking at. My fault, but immediately called Amazon cancelled within 2 minutes. Next thing I know Wal-Mart AGAIN did what they call a pre auth to make sure I had funds. Well Wal-Mart needs to hit the legal books for the term pre-authorized and authorized. They are once again are holding my funds for 200.00 for 2 WEEKS. This is blackmail. DO NOT BUY THIS CARD. DO NOT USE THEM. We work hard for OUR MONEY and this is a multi billionaire company holding my little bit of money that I rely on daily is pathetic.

Three weeks ago approx 02/12/2015 we had misplaced our card. Then, I called but, could not understand the woman with the foreign accent. So, I told her I cannot understand what you are saying so, I said goodbye and hung up. Then I called my wife to come to my work on my lunch break to call the Wal-Mart card. In between that time my wife found the card. So, when she came to my work to call Wal-Mart money card we let them know that we have our card. They in return said that they blocked our card; because I did not answer the password question. In which I did at that moment I gave them my password. But, they refused to unblock it. They said I would have to send my picture of my license and my social security office to their fax number 1-866-963-6231. So, we faxed those two pieces of information to them through the UPS Store at Green Hurst Plaza 2422 12th SAVENUE road, Nampa Idaho ID 83686-6300.
After a few days we called the Wal-mart money card again to check on the status of my that was in the card from my work at Wood Grain in Nampa. It was in there through direct deposit. The person said that they could not see the picture on the fax. We have sent it now a total of 3 times, 2 through UPS Store and the last one through Copies Plus, Inc. in Nampa, Idaho. When we sent it the second time they once again said they could not see the picture. We sent it for the third time 02/26/26015. We called again today they said they didn't receive it although we have a confirmation print out from Copies Plus, Inc. I and my family have not been able to buy food, gas or even pay our bills or rent. Some one please help me get my money released from this Wal-mart money card. My phone number is **. I have had this card since September 2014. I've been adding money way before my tax refund has been added. So once I receive my funds and try to make a purchase I get declined for suspicious activity. I called the number on the back of the card because that's the only number that you can call and ask to speak to a supervisor (everybody's a supervisor by the way) and she/he told me that I would have to spend in my identification and in 2 business days my funds will be unblocked. So I did that, still no funds. One rep told me that they did not receive it, another rep told me did not attach a case number which no gave to me, then I was told that "Your ID was received you just have to wait ma'am."
I am so over this card you have no idea. I cant wait until they unblock my card because I am taking all of my funds off and keep my money. You think you would be safe going this route but you're in more danger than ever going this route. I really dislike Wal-Mart already, this here puts the icing on the cake. I don't advise ANYONE use Wal-Mart money card EVER!

My husband and I have used the Walmart MoneyCard for our tax refund to be direct deposited for years. Everything went well as it usually does. The deposit posted that morning, 2/25/15, but later that afternoon, our card was declined. After talking to customer service, we learned there was a hold on our card for "suspicious activity" and that we needed to send in a copy of my husband's driver license to verify his identity.
I got online and read all these horror stories on this site about others going through the same thing we were. Needless to say, we were petrified. I called the 800 number back and gave a summary of what we've read on here, explained my anxiety, and asked exactly what we needed to do, and the woman was very helpful. She talked me through scanning my husband's license and submitting it at the Walmart MoneyCard website and told me not to worry, she would call me back once she received it. Well, she didn't call us back but the block was lifted when we woke up this morning. I assume she either was very busy or her work day was over - this was at 6:30-7:00 last night.
I actually am grateful Walmart ensured no one else could get a card in our name. Sending in a copy of my husband's license is a small price to pay for the security it provides. The whole process was very simple and quick. The reports on here made our anxiety level shoot through the roof so I felt it was necessary for anyone else who may come here to leave our review so they know it is not the nightmare process it seems to be. All in all, the block was lifted off our card in just hours. I wish I knew how to get a hold of someone within Walmart so I could let them know how helpful the customer service agent was. She alone calmed my anxiety greatly and had everything fixed within hours. She deserves something for that, I was a total nervous wreck!

As a gift, I was given a Wal-Mart MoneyCard with 30 dollars on it, so I could buy things online. I registered the card, like the back of the card told me to do. Every website I went to, however, told me the card was not a valid form of payment. I went to the website listed on the back of the card and it said "This card can be used to buy things from any place that accepts Visa". When I called the help number, I was told this same information (although I never spoke to a live person). So, I figured I could only buy from the Wal-Mart website.
When I went to the site, I noticed that it cost dramatically more money to buy from the website and have it shipped to my house, than it did for any other website I visited. Apparently, I can only use the card in the store, which defeats the purpose of HAVING it in the first place. On the help site, it also says that the money is non-refundable and if the card is gone, then the money is also gone. My complaint with this product is that it does not do what it claims to do and is very misleading. I am still fighting to get the card to work so the money doesn't go to waste.

I been a card holder for almost three years. I had never had a problem with my card until I misplaced it. I have had 3 tax returns deposited on my card as well as my employment checks twice a month for 3 years. I misplace my card over 2 weeks ago, I canceled it. I found it right after I canceled it and tried to reactivate it. They would not allow this to go through. I had to wait 2 weeks for a new card in the mail. I had a few hundred dollars of cash on hand to last. (I hardly carry cash.)
Yesterday I received the replacement card. I called the number that was on the sticker on the front of the card. It got activated. Approximately 30 minutes later I tried to make a purchase online, it was declined. I called customer service as soon as I got off work. They explained to me (I can barely understand them because they had a heavy accent) that my card was "compromised" and Visa automatically put a block on it. They claim numerous purchases were attempted to be made on the card and therefore for my safety they put a block on it.
I had to speak to 4 people, in which only ONE I was able to understand. Within speaking to these different reps nobody was able to explain to me what purchase, or why they blocked my card. They did however tell me that I had to wait for another 2 weeks to receive a new card!!! I have NO CASH ON HAND, NO GROCERIES, I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 5 CHILDREN, I DON'T GET ANY HELP!! So with that being said I feel as if they put an unnecessary block on my card and they inconvenienced me to the fullest extent. I asked if they can do an express mail for my card and they refused. I feel as if this happens for emergency purposes they should be able to express these cards through the mail or be able to unlock the card if asked to. This is ridiculous and once I receive this SECOND replacement card, I am no longer doing business with Walmart money card again.

This is the second month I have had my disability benefits directly deposited to one of my Walmart MoneyCards. They advertise that you can receive your benefits up to 2 days after by having them deposited to their card. Even when you check your balance on the phone, that message is played to entice direct deposit. That thus far has not been the case in my situation. I only changed my deposit because the bank I was with for 32 years is in Pensacola Florida and I now live in Lafayette Louisiana and I almost always received my deposit 2 to 3 days early even from my bank.
According to the info I hear when I listen to my transactions on the phone, both months my deposit was sent and received on the 23rd of the month. In December, I had access to my funds on the 26th a day after the due date of the 25th (third Wednesday of the month normal due date) and in January on the 28th (also exact due date). I have spoken online to other people since I changed to Walmart cards and they are experiencing the same result. In my opinion and also with the other individuals I have spoken to, the promise of earlier access to our fixed monthly incomes is never kept. We have all come to the conclusion that the only possible reason for this would be that the longer the funds remain in Walmart's (also Green Dot) account, the more interest they can draw on it.
When you consider how many people avail themselves of this service, that amounts to quite a lot of interest added to the fees associated with the card even though these are less than some cards and more than others. (Note: There are a lot of cards owned and distributed by the same company under different names.) It is my inclination after speaking with social security to get a card that is distributed by social security directly and there are no fees associated with the use of their cards except the ones associated with transactions at the vendors and ATM machines. If Walmart had lived up to their promises, I probably would not even know of this option and they would therefore have kept my business.
The reason I am writing this is to let Walmart Money Card and its affiliates know of my dissatisfaction and to let others on fixed incomes that wait anxiously each month for money to pay bills and buy products and food (usually at Walmart) know of the option of receiving a card directly from social security or online or local banks which do not withhold funds that are deposited early as I have investigated this week. Again, if Walmart had kept its advertised promise and at least come close to what the banks do, I would have never thought to change as it was convenient otherwise. Thanks for allowing me to post my experience.

I called Wal-Mart Money Card and I was told that my account was closed to due to questionable activity on my card. I asked what kind of activity, the person on the phone just told that my information was in their fraud department and unlike the reviews I read, my account was not placed on hold until I can provide proof of my identity, but instead they closed my account and what made it worse, I was told that I could never get a Wal-Mart or Green Dot Card ever again.
I filed a police report, put a freeze on my credit report, deleted my previous email address. About 10 days later I got an card in the mail from Green Dot and I called them and I was told that the card was not valid. I have called both Green Dot and Wal-Mart Money Card. I got an better response from Green Dot after I placed a complaint on their Facebook page. Now with my refund being rejected on 1/30/15, it was received by the US Department of Treasury on 2/2/15, I called that office directly. After calling the IRS several times, I was told that my funds were returned and updated in their computer system on 2/5/15 and there is an freeze on my account and that it could take 10 weeks before I get my refund.
But before my refund was sent, I contacted the IRS by phone and also I went to their local office in my city and provided proof that my account was closed and no direct deposit can be done and can an paper check be sent. I was told that I have to wait until the funds have been returned. After calling the IRS and requesting an supervisor 4 times, and telling the reps that I needed the money to pay my rent due to I was getting evicted, I was referred to the Tax Advocate Office. So far as of the today, they were able to lift the freeze so that refund can be mailed. I am just waiting for a date. I will never use a prepaid card for direct deposit, but instead I have a account through my local credit union. I believe that both Wal-Mart and Green Dot is doing this to everyone.

I bought this card to use to pay my bills online since I didn't have a bank account at the time. My insurance company over charged my card back in 2014. Once I noticed the extra charge I called the insurance company and they issued the refund. I waited and waited and waited. Still no refund! I then called the insurance company thinking it was on them, only to find out they sent the payment back to this prepaid card the day we determined they over paid. At this point it had been almost 2 months. I called the Walmart money card and sure enough there it was. Then BAM they hit me with the "card block" as I know now is very common on their part. I send over everything they wanted and yet it still isn't enough.
I've been fighting them for almost 3 weeks now and still haven't gotten my money. They won't release the hold on the card to give me access to the money, nor will they send the money back to the insurance company so they can reissue it to me on my bank card. Every time I talk to this "company" I get the same excuse "allow one business day". I've green this excuse for 21 business days now and I've still yet to receive my money. Wal-Mart money card had a great to scam money out of people because when you make a purchase and the transaction is reversed or refunded they add the money back in your card then it shows they give you back your money but a hold is put on the money so you can't touch it and your card gets declined. The first time it happened to me was for a $360 transaction that i cancelled. When i cancelled it I had almost $300 still in my account so when i saw the money was refunded and showed that it was credited to my account, but my balance was still almost $300 instead of $600.
I called and they claimed it was put back into my account and that i had been negative in my account so i never had that money to begin with and sure enough after arguing with them i gave up, and according to the statement it was right. I added the numbers and there was no way to prove to them the money was not replaced because the numbers added up but the next day the full balance showed up in my account and I had almost $600 in there again. What they do is put a plus whatever the amount is owed to you in your account but they put a hold on the money so even though your balance reflects it being there, you’re not allowed to touch it and if you have money in there, their system somehow find a way to make it seem like it was negative and you owed that money to someone else.
Another way they keep your money is instead of voiding the transaction they add the funds back in so it shows like you got it back but in reality the amount paid out and put back in cancel each other out like if the money never existed which happened in another transaction to me for $60 and I never saw the money. They kept sitting the funds, showed added but that it was due to be released at a later date, but the money was never released and according to them because it showed the funds added to my account. It was put back in but I was never allowed to touch that money because the later release date set for it never came, and even though their system showed it being credited back in, they never released the funds. But of course their number and system once again said I was negative so it was never mine to begin with, only difference is this time.
I never saw my $60, and now i paid $114 for a payment that was reversed and they show the money credited back to my account says the funds are available but my card keeps getting declined because they say that the funds are due to be released in the next two days. So, i have kept from adding money to the card so my balance is zero so they can't do what they did with the $60 and keep my money. Now it’s a game of wait and see if they release the funds or try and claim that i was negative even though I haven't used the card in a week. Besides that you can never over draft with this card because it is a prepaid card and if you used it long enough like me you know they immediately deduct what you used from your balance so you don't overdraft even if the transaction hasn't fully been posted. After this i can say i WILL NEVER USE THIS CARD AGAIN NOW WOULD I EVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

Wal-Mart MoneyCard suspended my account for "suspicious activity" and "Account Compromised." At first they said someone had tried to access my account online too many times with failed attempts. The next time they told me that someone had called about my account too many times. So they suspended my account. I cannot see my transactions online. I cannot get my money out and they are telling me it will be 2 weeks before my new card arrives. What they call "suspicious activity" is me using my card in a manner anyone would use their card. I wish I had done some research BEFORE I got the card and set up my direct deposit with Green Dot Bank (the bank behind the Wal-Mart MoneyCard). They do not seem to care that all of my money is tied up by them and it will be 2 weeks before I can get my money out.
Some of the things I have learned from this experience:
1. I have no access to my funds except through the card. 2. If the card is suspended, there is no place I can go to get my money. 3. If the card is suspended, I must wait for 2 weeks to get another card. 4. All customer service calls to the Wal-Mart MoneyCard go to the Philippines. 5. They can suspend a card for any reason they consider "suspicious" but they will not tell you exactly why they suspended your card for "internal security reasons."
6. Though I can withdraw $300 in cash each day, I must do it $100 at a time at Wal-Mart register or the Money Center. 7. They do not treat you like a customer...they treat you like a "profile." If your profile matches the suspicious activity profile, they suspend your card. They don't call you. They don't verify that it is you making the purchases. They simply and heartlessly suspend your account and freeze your money, and there is absolutely NOTHING YOU CAN DO about it.
8. The number listed by another Reviewer (801-344-7020) does get you to Green Dot Bank (I got an English speaker) but I got the same runaround from him that I got from the Philippine customer service people I spoke with.
Needless to say, as soon as they "un-suspend" my account, I will immediately remove ALL of my money, cancel my direct deposit, and NEVER do business with them again.

I have had Walmart money card for over 2 years now. Never a complaint until they let the bank go and now Green Dot runs it. They are usually pretty good with sending out the card usually about a month before it expires. Due to moving, I never received the card. This was for January. On Jan 27, I called to let them know I had moved and to please send me a new card. To my dis-belief, the rep I was talking to, Chad (would not give me his last name or badge id) informed me that to change my address he had to verify it somehow through a third party. When this was not possible, he said that he had to close the account because he could not verify my address. I have never heard of such a thing. I had to practically yell at him that I do not give my consent to close the account as I still had money in it. He then said he could not mail out a new card because 2 weeks had not passed. I had to log into the web and change my address from the site.
Once this was done, I called again and had them mail me a new card, which supposedly takes 2-4 weeks. No piece of mail takes more than 5 business days to mail, even from one coast to another. So I wait another two weeks, and the card never shows up. So I call on Feb 12, and the rep (I didn't even bother getting his name) told me he could expedite the card via FedEx for a fifteen dollar charge. I said go ahead, and he told me it should take between 3-5 business days to receive. I check my account today Mon 2/16 and nothing has been charged. I call to get the tracking number for the card, which the rep said to call for, and it turns out they never even sent me a card, let alone that the option for expedite is not even an option. So the rep today says she just put in to mail the card and it will take another 2 weeks.
This is completely unacceptable customer service. Plus, their call centers are outsourced, so you are usually speaking to an Indian somewhere in India. I can understand a few mistakes here or there, as no one is perfect, but this is just total garbage, and the company and its employees are garbage and need tons more training for their supposed customer service. Very unhappy and dissatisfied, and as soon as I receive the card, money is coming out and account is getting closed (Oh, it also takes 2 weeks if you close your account for them to mail any money you have).

I called everyday as I was in desperate need of my money and got a different story every time! It is now day #11 and still my account is frozen. I inquired if I could remove my whole balance from this card from hell once it's released and of course I was told no. I was also told I could only make an atm withdrawal of $500 max a day and I could go to a bank and get off as much as $3000 BUT IN $400 INCREMENTS! UGH. I’m so afraid that I will never see my money and who's to say after the first withdrawal they won't freeze it again? There has got to be something else I can do.

On Feb 1 2015 I purchased a Green Dot Walmart MoneyPak refill for 90.00. I went home to apply this to my account online. When I put the pin number of the back of the card, the website said it was invalid. I waited 2 hours thinking it might take some more time but still got the same message invalid.
I called the number on the back of the card to speak with someone about fixing this. I spoke to customer service, of course a foreigner I couldn't understand, and was given a list of things they needed in order to refund the money. First they needed a pic of the receipt. Emailed to them at verrifymydocs@greendot.com. Along with that they needed the place where it was purchased, store number, store phone number, exact time and date of purchase. I provided all of these things. I have been told they have not received any of my documents on a daily basis cause I call daily. I resend them on a daily basis with them on the phone. They say I’m all set and the funds will be there in 24 hrs. But 24 hrs later I got nothing. So I repeat the process over again it is now the 13 of Feb and I still don't have it and will call again tomorrow.

I called Redbox who stated the charge was for a swipe at a machine in OREGON (over 3000 miles away) on Jan 14th for movies never returned. Not possible...not in Oregon and card wasn't active until 02/05. They said I would have to get my bank to reverse the charge. Called Wal-Mart money card cust serv...who insists they can't do anything bc the charge was still pending. The guy said he could clearly see there was no swipe in Jan so call back after it posts and they will reverse it back to the merchant.
I called today...call was answered by someone who barely spoke English. She was located in the Philippines. She claimed she could do nothing but cancel the card and sent me another for $3. I told her the card I has did not need to be canceled, that I needed the charge to Redbox sent back to them. She literally argued with me. I asked for a supervisor. She said she was the supervisor. I asked her to transfer me to someone in the States. She refused. So basically, without notice - Wal-Mart MoneyCard has outsourced the management of my money to the Philippines. I am not happy with this. I refuse to do business with walmart or green dot and I highly recommend no one else do this either. They lose your money and refuse to get it back for you. Ok so I fell for the spiel that Walmart gave me about it being easy and painless to direct deposit your tax return on their card, I could not have been more wrong. Nope because they immediately put a block on my card saying that there were issues with the direct deposit and I would have to send them a copy of my driver's license and social security card.
And then after ten days I can give them a call and maybe if they feel like it the block will be removed, but no promises. I asked them to cancel the direct deposit, they will not. I asked if I can go into Walmart to confirm my identity? I cannot, so here I am two weeks later-- no money. They still have not finished the inspection, no real time frame to get it done and guess what, I get to pay them a monthly fee while they hold my money hostage. Do not use them for any reason. Get a Fred Meyers rewards visa-- much better and with real American customer service agents. When I get my money, if in fact I ever do, I suspect that they will withhold it for as long as possible. I'm contacting a lawyer in another week. So miserable with them right now, really really hate Walmart for this.

I bought this STUPID money card SEP '14 via "money pack," with a $5 fee, then $3 fee at Walmart to load. It was all done as a means to be able to receive funds from my folks, in another state. It was a nightmare frustration the day in Sep. I did all this, and the phone calls back and forth to sender, to the card customer service, then FOUR hours to wait for funds to be available. The confusion and variety of advisements from cashiers, and call center agents, was just futile and more than irksome.
I had no choice but to follow through, so I could pay for something by phone. When that was over and done, I tucked the card away, in case I EVER got in another jam, at least I would. Have buy another middleman money pack. Now it's Feb '15. I am needing to PAY $2.95 for a FREE online resume template (another bald-face lie on websites). So I thought I'd dig out this card and just load enough to make that possible. Called the customer service # on back to check the balance, in case I get lucky and discover I'd left a drib. But the irritating universal recorded-man voice said there was a NEGATIVE balance of $6! Whaaaat?! How could THAT be, since we KNOW darn well they didn’t let me SLIDE six bucks anywhere?
So got a live agent, OMG their need to RECAP EVERY phase of call and RESTATE. The six dollars was total amount of monthly fees that have accrued by not keeping card active. So, I roared laughing and asked the agent, somewhere in the Non-U.S. Ring of Fire, "If I NEVER use this card again, monthly fees keep accruing for ALL ETERNITY?" She said, "YES " I had to RELEASE THE CALL and, as a retired airline res agent, I LIVE to say, "RELEASE THE CALL" people. Just do MoneyGram or Western Union. It's comparable in fee cost, but BAM. One store visit, you're done.

I have a Wal-Mart Money Card and this year decided to have my tax check deposited onto it. Well, this morning I received my money. The amount was almost 6 grand. I made a $700 purchase at T-Mobile without any problems, but when I went to the bridal store to pick up my wedding dress for my Valentine's Day wedding, the card was declined. I immediately called the number on the card and was told that my card was blocked due to a suspicious deposit from the IRS. What? I didn't realize that the IRS was a "suspicious" company. Well, I went round and round on the phone with this so-called supervisor about releasing my funds, but got absolutely nowhere. A few minutes into the conversation and without any of my questions answered, she told me that she had more important calls to answer and then proceeded to hang up on me.
I called back and spoke to another so-called supervisor who advised that I do what the other lady instructed and send in proof of identity in the way of social security card, ID, birth certificate etc.... I asked her why I should have to do that and she said because that is the only way for me to get my money back. I asked her to reverse the funds back to the IRS and was told that in order for them to do that, the IRS would have to send them a notarized letter requesting such a reversal. I reluctantly sent in the information requested to the number they provided then called back to see if the information was received. This time I was told that there was no way for them to verify that my documents were received and I would just have to sit and wait to see what happens.
I am getting married in 2 weeks. That money was being used to finish paying for my wedding expenses and now from what I have read on here, that money will not be released. I called a few minutes ago and again was told that they could not provide me with any information about my proofs of ID, the status of my card or a release date of my money. The only information that was given to me was that if my documents proving identity were insufficient then the hold on my card would remain and EVENTUALLY the funds MAY BE returned to the IRS. I worked all year for that money and need to have it for my upcoming wedding in a couple of weeks. If anyone can help me PLEASE do so!!! I made some purchases with my card at a local retailer and decided to return some items I no longer needed. So the credits back to my account and went to grab some food and told the card was declined. Called the customer service number to be told a block was placed on my card due to the transaction amounts did not match and because of that they put a hold on my funds. This is total BS. I done this in the past with no issues and now all the sudden they want me to email them all my receipts to them so they can verify the returns. This is a total scam by the way, think about it if green hold your funds just for a day, think about the amount of interest they can make on our money. I think this is a bait and switch and the US Attorney General needs to look into the FRAUD.
Think about this, you go to the store and buy some items and then you return only a couple of things and your amounts do not match your original purchase and you throw away the recipients then they get to keep your money. This is a scam and it's ok since it is being done to poor people so they don't have the means to fight this. I for one will never use this card again or ever go back to Walmart.

I tried to pay a utility bill with the card & it didn't go through the 1st time, so I resubmitted it. Success. I realized the card was actually charged twice & called the utility co. They said the 1st charge was a soft authorization & would drop off in 24 hrs. They saw that Walmart declined it. It didn't drop off. Walmart said they will hold the money for 10 business days, even if the merchant faxed them a letter requesting it be removed. Total crooks! In this day and age, with our technology, there is no legitimate excuse for such a long hold... other than GREED at the expense of people they know are stretched thin & have no bank account.

I purchased a Walmart Money Card (MasterCard) for use on vacations back in 2012. It expired, so I requested a new one which I received and activated. On December 31, 2014, I loaded $420.00 cash at a Walmart Money Center on this card for use on an upcoming vacation. Since I encountered no problems before, I thought everything was good but a nagging feeling told me to check the balance so I did so on January 2, 2015. I was advised that no notification of funds was received and that an investigation of one business day would have to occur. I was given a case number and asked to send a copy of my receipt along with my name and phone number which I did on January 3, 2015. I checked my balance via text message, Walmart Money Card website, and telephone but the response was $0.00.
I called again on January 7 and was told that the funds had been applied to my card. The balance was still reporting as $0.00 but according to the representative I spoke to, there had been no transactions. I called again on January 9, 2015 after checking by balance again via text and telephone. The balance still reported as $0.00. I spoke to another representative and was told that they needed more time to investigate. As of today, January 16, 2015, I am no longer able to log into the Walmart Money Card website, I am no longer able to get a response from the text message service, nor am I able to get anyone on the phone as my card appears to have been deactivated and reports as invalid. I am so frustrated right now and want my money back!

I've had an account with them for about a year now and I haven't had any issue until recently. I received a grant for my books for school and since I don't have a bank account I decided to enroll on the direct deposit of the Walmart money card. The school send the money since Tuesday and it is now Friday with no signs of a deposit pending. I'm getting very anxious because school starts on Tuesday and I won't have time to order all my books to arrive within next week (and that's if I get my money). It's obviously false advertising when it states the direct deposit is easy and fast because it definitely is not. As soon as I receive my money I will close my account and go somewhere else because this has been such a nightmare for me and no other bank, no matter how crappy, has done this to me in the past.

I have had one card from a previous state for 10 years. I let it run out almost to its renewal date then I found out someone had used my card so I reported it. When I went to get a new card they told me I can't because I failed to answer security questions correctly. I did answer them correctly but the Government says I didn't according to their data from the Government. They are random questions which are about people, place and other such questions.
I answered questions about knowing certain people. I told the truth, I didn't know them and the other questions I answered correctly. So I didn't know all their answers because I never heard of these people, places or things. Their data from the Government says I am not who I say I am. I was so upset. In other words a stranger got my info and used my card and now I am no longer me. I have had my same social security number since I'm 16 and have my Valid Id but they say they can't verify my identity..
So I can no longer use the WalMart card nor will they give me a new card. I am a Valid citizen born and raised in the United States of America. I am a 64 year old woman with 8 kids and 17 Grandchildren and now reside in California... I am who I say I am... Now they say I am not who I am. I suggest all of you return your cards and drop WalMart because they will just give your identity to an alien or an illegal and then tell you, you are not who you say you are but someone else will become You....
I have never been so humiliated in my life. They give illegals Drivers Licenses and now as a Citizen and a legal resident of this Country. I cannot be verified as to who I AM.. By WalMart. This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. If I was issued a card some 10 years ago and have used it properly to pay my bills, why are they rejecting me now. I have a CDL class A been verified by the Government to haul stuff across the country and you want to say you can’t verify who I am now at 64. Something is very wrong with the WalMart System. Be careful Folks you will be next..

I went on line and saw that the money was taken off my card. I told the merchant that, but they said they didn't receive any payments. I went back and forth with Wal-Mart about this. They said it was approve for payment. But how can a decline transaction be approved?? I asked them how can you decline the transaction, don't pay the merchant, but take my money anyway?? They had no answer.
I asked for them to release my money and they told me on top of the week I already waited, I have to wait another 5 days. And that is their policy. Who makes a policy to hold money that should not have been taken in the first place, for almost two weeks. I have had transactions that was approved and was posted within 2 to 3 days. They said my card had been compromised and they would need to send me another card. I asked them if I could go to the bank and get the remaining funds. They said no, and I should receive my card in 7-10 days. This is the week of Christmas so I had to drive 50 miles to pay the bill, with cash. On the 12th of January I still had not received the new card. I thought, maybe I had over looked it in the mail and I was allowing for the holidays. I called them and they said it was put in the mail that day! Well it was time to pay that same bill again. I waited 2 days because it was just coming from the state next to mine.
After the mail was delivered, today, I called Walmart's corporate office and they said now they would need to send me ANOTHER card. I suppose that is one way to keep customers from complaining to the corporate office. I explained to them that I would rather wait on the card that was mailed 2 days ago. They said I could go purchase another card and they will transfer the balance but it is a temporary and I cannot pay the bill with it. Long story short, It seems to me Walmart can hold your funds for as long as they wish. They said they had NO recourse but to BLOCK my card, report it as compromised and send me a new one which would take up to two weeks. WHAT? I had it in my possession the entire time, do NOT agree it's compromised, and all that happened was me trying to get some food. My card wasn't freaking compromised. But that doesn't even make sense. It declined then, not after then.
Anyway, I complained and demanded they send it FedEx (express service) for free and got them to do that. So they are sending it 3-5 days instead of 2 weeks. As a person that has worked for other credit/debit card companies, I know that sometimes, they will have that information. I also know that some Internet merchants use a different name when it comes to what shows up on a statement. I called the number on my card to get to customer service in order to try to get more information such as a phone to call to verify if it was a company I had done business with and the agent I spoke to misunderstood what I needed and instead of simply giving me the information (which I was given 5 minutes later by a supervisor), they assumed it was a fraudulent charge and blocked my account and issued me a new card effectively blocking me from my money that was on the card.
When I asked why this was done, I was told that it happens automatically whenever fraud is suspected on a card. When I asked to speak to someone regarding the mistake, as we as humans are sometimes prone to making, I was told that there is nothing that can be done and I would have to wait up to two weeks to get my new card. When I informed the supervisor of the situation, mainly that my paycheck was direct deposited to the card and by doing this, they essentially prevented me from access to my money to pay bills etc. they offered to FedEx my new card at a fee of $15 (charged to me, naturally). I expressed my feelings that that is unacceptable and they simply said, "We are sorry, there's nothing we can do." Long story short, I am now unable to access my money and have to wait until I get a new card in the mail. They did nothing to rectify the situation and have left me without access to the money that I work for.

However, last night when I checked my balance there was a lot less in the account than I thought. My credit union always tells me what goes through my account and provides phone numbers of entities that have debited my account. They do this over the phone and include such information on my bank statement. What Walmart told me after considerable wait time was that Amazon Prime debited my account for $99 dollars. Now I do not even like Amazon and I told Walmart that I was suspicious of this debit. Walmart not only couldn't provide me with a phone number so I could contact Amazon but the website they referred me to so I could file a complaint wanted $25 dollars to process the issue. I don't see how a person can accurately keep tabs on transactions involving a debit without contact numbers for those debiting my account. We found out that her card does not work so she called customer service and found out that her account has been frozen because they say that it has been compromised by a vendor. When asked who the vendor is, they said that they could not reveal that to us but as a protection, they would mail us a new card and that it would take approximately two weeks to get here. My wife mentioned that we have a visa card through walmart. They told us they could not transfer the money to the other card, that we would have to wait until we get our new card. Neither one of us gets paid for two more weeks.
Borrowing money is not an option. We have three children, very little food in the house and about a weeks worth of gas to get back and forth to school and work if we're lucky. Now what? I understand that they are trying to protect her money but they are also protecting the money from her. It would be nice if there was a way to positively verify us and possibly fix it where we could get the money at a walmart or transfer it to her other walmart moneycard (Visa) that is still working but has no money on it instead of making us wait until the card comes in the mail which is estimated at two weeks. If you live paycheck to pay check like we do, you may not want to do direct deposit with this company. Instead find a local bank and deposit your money there.

I called to get a replacement card and I was told it would take two weeks to get a new card. It is the beginning of the month. I have several bills due and unable to get to any of my money. I was told there was nothing that could be done to speed up this process. Once I am able to get all my money off this card I will definitely be cancelling it.

Got a 25 gift card visa, used it at a gas station, only let me fill up 15.05. Thinking that there was a balance of 9.95 left, went to next gas station. Today zero balance - where is my 9.95. Gift card was from care package for wife in chemo. Who else are they taking 40% commission, I did call to check balance! Only transaction last 30 days was the 15.05 at Hess gas, had card for 10 days so history is correct. Had this happen before where they told me that they held back 20% to make sure they covered incidentals but really, where is the balance? Usually get these at publix when they run the spend 25, get 50 gift card with 5 activation fee but this is getting ridiculous.

I received a rebate, and instead of waiting for a check, they said they could put it on my card (Wal-Mart Money Card affiliated with Green Dot). Being it was Christmas time, having the money faster would be great. So, I thought. Well when the rebate was credited to my card, Wal-Mart/Green Dot Corp. put a hold on my card insinuating the credit was a refund and was researching the purchase end of a refund. I informed Wal-Mart Money Card it was not a refund but a rebate that I had been expecting for over 30 days. Why they would hold money that was a payment to me was beyond me. While somewhat keeping it together, they asked me to furnish them with a transaction number & date. I did. And they are still holding the funds!!! I talked to Green Dot Corporate office today, and she couldn't help me. Additionally, I have asked both Wal-Mart and Green Dot to send the funds back to the merchant and they said, "no, we cannot do that" so I asked for them to please cancel my card and they said, "no, we cannot do that either". The merchant cannot help me because the payment they made to me was successfully confirmed.
Now Wal-Mart/Green Dot want some sort of letter from the merchant, which I already furnished. I'm very upset, disappointed with the extreme actions these two companies are putting me through with what is mine. This is currently happening to me, my funds are still being held; I cannot give them anymore information than I already have; Christmas has past, which we did not have; I have a disconnect notice if not paid by tomorrow... ALL this because Wal-Mart/GreenDot want to hold funds with no apparent reason. My next stop is the president of both companies, unless I can get other suggestions???

Dec 2014 purchased the green dot NFL prepaid visa with $200 cash at walmart. Went to walmartmoneycard.com/activate to activate the temp card. Must do from a computer. Don't have internet, except my phone. The back of the cards - other option for activation is "or" the support # 1-866-795-7597. Went through options for activation only to be told by system to go to website. I tried every option to talk to a live person. 7 different #'s to be exact. Son went to computer at library to receive an error about bad URL. Called walmart: call # on back of card. We don't refund. Really??? 6 hours later, had someone over the phone try it on their internet again to receive "too many times in 24 hour period". Did another google search with different wording/terms, probably the 20th search. Found walmartmoneycard.com/treasury/help possibility. Once there, scrolled down and found an option for going to "new mobile site". Will try this in 24 hours. Not happy with this entire mess. Even if this site works.
After hours & hours of calling 7 different, no live person, #'s along with at least/about 20 google searches using every wording I could think of, selecting many of the returned possibilities (most w/o dates of relevance) & no refunds... Wow. Never again. Research, date relevant, each type of prepaids. Looking for reviews, issues, etc.
