On 12/13/14, I called into Wal-Mart Moneycard Customer Service to report an un-authorized transaction in the amount of $750. When speaking to the representative, they informed me that in order to protect the rest of the funds in my account, they have de-activated the card I possessed and would be sending me a replacement card and submitting a dispute claim to corporate (Green Dot Bank) for review. They stated that it would take 10 business days for processing. They asked if I would like to have the replacement card FedEx'd to me for a charge of $15. Of course I agreed, as I had bills pending and needed access to my money.

Three days later (12/16/14), the replacement card arrived. The following morning (12/17/14) I promptly went online to activate the card, which it would not allow me to do. I attempted this 3 times, after which I called the phone number printed on the activation sticker. After going through the automated system and entering all requested information, the system came back telling me that the card that I had entered into the system was not valid. I attempted entering the information 3 times assuring that I hadn't entered information incorrectly.

I then went through the copious automated menus to finally speak to an actual representative, which informed me that the expiration date stamped on the card I received (Jan 2015) was incorrect and that the card I paid $15 to have FedEx'd to me was invalid, as it should have an expiration date of Jan 2019. They went on to inform me that as the "Replacement" card was processed on 12/13/14, due to my original card having an expiration date of Jan 2015, a "Renewal" card was processed on 12/17/14, rendering the "Replacement" card invalid. This of course made no sense to me, as I went on to tell the representative, that under normal circumstances, when a card is coming up on its expiration, it remains valid until the "Renewal" card arrives and the customer calls to activate that "Renewal" card. So, since the "Renewal" card had not even been shipped to me yet, the "Replacement" card has an 2015 expiration date and we are still in 2014, why would this card in my possession, that I paid $15 to have FedEx'd to me, not be able to be activated.

I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was told that one wasn't available and that all they could do was to put in a request for a Corporate Resolution Representative to call me back within an hour and a half. Now this original phone call started at 8am PST, by 12 noon, I had still not heard from Corporate, so I promptly called Customer Service back to inquire. The now 2nd representative I've explained the issue to assured me that I would hear from corporate by the end of the day. By 5pm PST, I had still not received a call back and proceeded to call customer service again. This time the representative went on to tell me that they would have to put in an entirely new request for a corporate dispute callback and that I would receive a call back within 2 business days.

On Saturday 12/20/14 I received a voicemail from Green Dot Bank Corporate with the representatives first name only and a call back number. When I called back I was connected to an automated system asking for the extension number of the representative I wished to speak to. I of course did not have this information, as it was never left on the voicemail left by the Green Dot Bank representative. I was able to leave a voice mail, which I asked for a Green Dot Bank representative to call me back immediately and left my cell number, as to not miss a callback a 2nd time.

As of today 12/23/14 at 11am, I had still not received a call back from Green Dot Bank, so I once again called Wal-Mart Moneycard Customer Service and got connected to a very unsympathetic service representative that proceeded to place me on hold at which time our call got disconnected. I called back and after 20 minutes, finally spoke to a manager, only to find out that the request to send a "Replacement" card to the invalid "Replacement" card I received on 12/16/14 was processed only today and that I wouldn't receive it for another 7-10 days. I am beyond frustrated to say the least, overdue on my bills, unable to do any Holiday shopping, all because this bank claims that they can't go into their system and activate a card that by all intensive purposes should be valid.

When the money did not appear back on my card I called the MoneyCard and I was told it would be 10 days for it to get back on my card. I'm sure the person I was speaking to had NO idea what I was asking. In the meantime I'm still waiting for my 100.00 to get back on my card. It's in walmart limbo.

I call Wal-Mart money card on 11/14/2014 and ask to cancel my card and send me a replacement because someone used my card number online. So they cancel my card. 12/03/2014 my disability check goes into my account and I've still haven't received a new card, so I call them and they don't remember me ordering a new card so now I got to wait another 2 weeks for a new card now. 12/18/2014 still no card. I call them and now they say I can pay to have a new card FedEx to me. So now I haven't had access to my account for over a month and now I have to pay for another card and pay to have it delivered. How do I explain that to my 7 grandkids on Christmas? I've had a card for around 3 years and have noticed a few times charges not being right online and they fixed it. But the service they have now refuses to let you talk to anyone else. Also most of them don't speak very good English. STAY AWAY from any Wal-Mart services. They think they’re too big for reproach. If there was/is any legal action I can take I would.

The hotel has released their hold on funds, days ago... yet WalMart will not refund my money for 10 business days. Customer service was horrific, no help at all and scripted responses to all my questions. I'll be canceling this card, as soon as the 2-week long refund is issued. WalMart stalls the refunds, in order to accrue interest on customers’ $$$$, this is just ridiculous!

I noticed in my statements that Apple iTunes have been taking money out of my account. At first, I didn't bother with it because it would be $0.99 here and there, but it was becoming a monthly thing, and I saw on one statement that someone from New York had used my card. I live in SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA!!! How was that possible? The only people that have my information is me and my husband, so I placed a complaint and I got a letter say they are going to refund everything that was unauthorized. Why is there money being taken out if it's unauthorized?????? I am so mad!!!

So then they told me that they will send me a replacement card with no fees. The first person told me it will be in my mail in 10-14 days. Then 14+ days came by and so I called, very mad that I haven't received my card. They told me that they would send me another, and I told them now I have to wait another 14+ days AGAIN! I told them NO, to send me rush delivery. They wanted to charge me $20 for that and I told them I am paying for your mistakes!!! So he told me he will send it with NO RUSH DELIVERY fee. So I get my card within 2 days, I activated it, and sure enough, I have a rush delivery fee, and replacement fee, and I had another unauthorized transaction from iTunes AGAIN!!!!

DO NOT GET A WALMART MONEY CARD!!!

The RV park put the deposit of $750.26 onto his card and when he sent to use it he was told there was a block on the card and he would have to get the original receipt for the transaction. He was able to obtain the receipt and it was sent and verified by the foreign representative that it was received and they would be able to use the card after one business day. Well that was 15 days ago and still unable to use the card. He was told that they would have to call the RV park and verify that they put the money on the card and would have to wait one business day. The next day called the customer service number once again and was told the number that was provided for the park was wrong but my son called the number three times and got through every time. We have realized Walmart or green dot has never tried to call the "merchant" as they refer to them and it is looking like they have scammed my son put off his hard earned money. This company is a joke and I will never use this product again. Seriously considering shopping at stores other than Walmart since they put their name on these useless cards and then do not even provide help when needed. I will continue to call this customer service number every day until my son receives his money but buyer beware. This is a scam and you will be out of your hard earned money!!! I just recently tried to order my son's Christmas present online and the order did not go through because of insufficient funds due to a change in shipping tax, so I was going to go out and add more money to my card when I noticed that the initial $106 had not been put back on to my Walmart debit card. So I then contact the company I was ordering from along with the customer service number on the back of my Walmart Visa debit and came to find out that Walmart is holding my money they will not release it until the 24th of December. Mind you, all this took place on the 15th. My son being very, very ill in ICU and nobody knows if he's going to make it or not has only asked for one thing for Christmas. I am a single mom of 3 and I am unable to replace that $106 in time to order the shoes for him to have by Christmas and Walmart is unwilling to cooperate with the other company as far as authorization release. They are unwilling to help me in any way, shape, or form. All they keep doing is apologizing and that doesn't do my son any good.

AS SOON as I get my money, I WILL BE CLOSING my account and I will be notifying the Better Business Bureau with the fact that are taking place and expressing that this company SUPER SUCKS!!! I will be passing the word as fast and as far as I can regarding this company, regarding their rules and regulations, and their insensitivity. THIS CARD, AND ALL THEIR OTHER CARDS, ARE DEFINITELY NOT, I REPEAT, NOT WORTH HAVING, KEEPING, GIFTING AT ALL!!!! I wish someone has warned me.

My wife uses a wal-mart money card. Her card was lost today so we had to call customer "service" to report it stolen. Let me just say that this was the absolute WORST experience that we have ever had with any company on the phone. I've had telemarketer calls with more knowledgeable people, hell I've had collection calls where the person on the other side was more polite and at least knew what they were doing. Long story short, after talking to two people for almost two hours (neither of which spoke or understood English very well) we were told that the card was cancelled and we had to wait around 2 weeks for a new card to arrive! 2 weeks is a long time to wait when your check was just direct deposited the day before and now you don't have access to it. We were told that there is no way to get our money other than to wait for the new card to come in. When we asked to speak with a supervisor, we were told that there were none available at night and that they were all we could get. Such horrible service from a company that deals with people's money!

I want to share what I used as a backdoor method to get our money while we waited for the new card, and hopefully someone else will benefit from it. When you cancel your card, your account still stays active on your online account management. If you decided to purchase the mid or high level card (not the blue one) you have an option to send money to someone. I went to Wal Mart, purchased another card, and sent the money from her account to "my" account. The transfer was instant and we had access to the money again. Don't let their horrible customer "service" reps make you think that you have to wait to access your funds. There is always a way around a bad situation. Would I recommend this card to anyone? Not a chance. Terrible customer service, poor turnaround time for lost cards, and no one to speak English to tells me to go elsewhere.

Well I have about $1000 on my card and don't have access to any of it. I was told a new card was being processed and it will take 10 business days and I should receive it on or by Dec. 24th. I attempted to fill my gas tank at Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on Regional Airport Rd. in Bentonville Arkansas. My Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money card was charged $100.00 deposit but no gas would pump. I tried a second time. My Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money card was charged another $100.00 deposit and I was able to get $1.70 in gas then the pump shut off. Not realizing $200.00 had been deducted from my Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money card, I decided to go to Wal-Mart on Walton Blvd to use their pumps, having had only good experiences with them in the past… This time the pump did not come on and I got a message showing my Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money card is invalid.

I went online to see what was going on. This is when I saw a -0- Balance and $200.00 in Deposits. I expected the deposits would be credited back in a timely manner. When it was not, I contacted Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money Card, Help. When I got no HELP from Ralph I asked to speak with his supervisor. This is when Cory badge #** (She was very difficult to understand and Rude) came on the line. Cory told me I would not be credited for 7 to 10 days. It would be at least December 9th before I am credited. Cory explained Wal-Mart has to credit it from their side first so that is what takes it so long. I explained everything to Cory and the fact that our money is budgeted. Without this we are not able to fuel the vehicles to get to work this week in addition to other items needed. This really didn't seem to be of any concern to her. It appeared to me her main concern was to end the call as she stated many times. Cory refused to let me speak with her supervisor although I asked multiple times.

I am not only disappointed in Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money Card but am also concerned about my finances for this week. I am very hesitant to put money on the card in the future as well as use the card for gas pumps. $200.00 might not seem like a lot so why does Wal-Mart need to hold on to it so long. Actually after reading some of the other reviews in addition to my experience I am very hesitant overall about the card and would not recommend it to anyone. If anyone of actual authority with Wal-Mart or Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money Card is reading this and can make a difference please reply. It appears a lot of us are being put between a rock and a hard place. Thanks to the Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money Card. That was the day my paycheck is direct deposited onto my walmart money card. I had over $1200 on the card as of 8AM. I took my son to the doctors and stopped at walgreens on the way home to get my son medicine. My card got declined at walgreens. I went out to the car and checked my walmart money card account online and it said I had a $0 balance. The last charge was $950 at a Target in the bronx NY. They took every last cent I had on my card which was all of my money. I called Walmart and was told they cannot do anything until the debit posts which could take 10 days. The debit posted on 11/15/14. I then had to fill out a dispute form and wait for a letter in the mail.

The earliest I could get my money back is two weeks. This is unacceptable. I live paycheck to paycheck. My electricity is going to be shut off, my car insurance is going to be cancelled and my car my be repoed due to no payment. Then I have to decide to pay these bills or pay my rent. I feel like with one swipe the hackers have taken away my life and walmart could care less. After reading your articles this has been happening since September 2013 yet the only way I found out was when it happened to me. How is this not on the news by now since the issue has lasted over a year and why has walmart not warned me about this! If I get my money back I will be closed my walmart money card right away. I made a purchase at a furniture store back in April. I purchased over $5,000 for three rooms. I paid cash for most of it but for some of it, I used my Walmart money card. The total purchase on the Walmart money card was $1,386 and I had issues with one of the rooms furniture so the store returned it but said they had to put it back on the Walmart money card because the return was only for $744.09 and I spent more than that with the card. I was okay with that. They told me I'd have the money back on the card in three days. I checked my account, the money showed it was there but when I went to use the card, it declined. I contacted Walmart, they told me there was a block on it.

They told me I needed to fax the original receipt to prove I made purchases totaling the amount, even though I was able to pull my account up and tell them the dates and amounts that wasn't good enough. So I went to the furniture store they made copies of the original receipts and they faxed everything to Walmart. I then called Walmart again they said that it would be reviewed and would take one business day. I called back 24 hours later and they were telling me it wasn't the original receipt even though the furniture store had the products and invoice numbers on the receipt and the fax came from the furniture store. They said they would have to call the store and verify it with the store manager!

They told me that the numbers didn't add up that I didn't purchase that much in product, I had four invoices one for $100, another for $100, one for $200, and one for $986, obviously they don't teach foreigners how to add in school they told me it was a mistake or fraud! After dealing with Walmart for three days and hours on the phone, they finally opened the money. I withdrew every cent and canceled my card. If anyone is trying to commit fraud, it would be Walmart because they took the three dollar fee and then blocked my account. If they thought it was fraud they shouldn't of even took the $3! Don't get a Walmart money card! I wish the attorney General knew the things they were doing with people's money that belong to the people and not Walmart!!!!

In short it cost me $6 dollars total for using my card at the issuing store. When I return an item elsewhere, I'm not charged $3 to reverse a charge on a returned item. Why at Walmart? The manager Mike said it was my fault the cashier didn't reverse my transaction... "I didn't tell her how to reverse the transaction on my money card" I lost my money, and won't so there again... It's happened every holiday for the past three years like clockwork. Normally I have no issues with Walmart Moneycard, but when you need your money, you better hope that you don't need it on a holiday that you get paid on.

I called and spoke to a call center from another country, and the person supposedly fixed the address. That person transferred me to another department to request a new card. Mind you, I had $120 in my account and a pending transaction of $99.00. The lady reassured me 3 times that the pending transaction would go through and to expect my new card with my $20 balance around 10 days from that date. Well, I still haven't seen a card AND my transaction had been cancelled. Walmart, get out of this business. Stick to groceries and housewares.

I have been dealing with this battle for two long weeks! I have had the Walmart's prepaid debit visa Money Card for about six months. Other than some basic expenses, I trusted Walmart to make my car payment. I have been going through some tough times, and being late to your car company is stressful enough. I went to Walmart after work Monday the 27th, and deposited a total of $1,200.00. I was told by the CS, that I could only deposit $1000.00 at a time, so I did it in two transactions. Later that night, I sent $800.00 to Nissan Financial through their payment financial company Bill Matrix. It's bad enough they charge me $12.95 per transaction every month. After I posted the transaction, it was rejected by my institute. I didn't understand why? I had the funds in there?!?! I even called Money card and they verified my funds. They told me to try it after 10 pm PST, since their system will be done with their updates by then. I tried to post a payment again, and even tried several times after. Declined. I called Money Card back and still couldn't get any answers.

In the morning the funds were taken?!?!? I explained to them I never received a confirmation number from Nissan?!?! How could the funds be gone! They gave me an approval number to give to Nissan, which didn't help, and directed me to Bill Matrix. After being interrogated by Nissan collections, Bill Matrix explained that I had put in the wrong zip code, and that's why the payment was declined. Even with the approval number they couldn't process my payment. I contacted Moneycard, explaining the situation, and now was told I had to wait till December to get the money back!!! Ooo hell no!

Because the story is so long, I am trying to input the key points: I have called Walmart's Money Card, Bill Matrix, and Nissan so many times. I even have had three way calls between both companies, trying to get Bill Matrix to fax over a Statement of Release. Which Bill Matrix has done four times to the same fax number. Each Money card representative has told me lies and different stories. Just today, I had one guy eating on the phone and told me my claim/ticket expired and I need to fax them again. After I asked to speak to a supervisor, he put me on mute (hold with the music equals mute to me) for two minutes and then hung up on me. So there I am calling again and again. This time a supervisor tells me to email them, but Bill Matrix's protocol is faxing only due to security reasons. A circle we go again, and now with a new claim/ticket number and same approval number, I call Bill Matrix for another Statement of Release faxed to the same damn number!

I rushed another phone call to Money Card after a 15 minute hold, and was told they received the faxed document but the approval number is wrong!?!?! I double checked it with the last supervisor and even the document had the correct one, but this supervisor tells me it's a whole different number!!! Now they have to forward it to a research department to get it looked over! They have lied to me several times, processed a payment that was rejected without the proper account identification (zip code), and still continue to hold my funds till December per five different Moneycard Representatives.

I don't care what Bill Matrix keeps telling me, that my payment should be rejected back after 10 business days, Walmart Moneycard keeps confirming they are keeping the $812.95 till December! I am stressed and wake up through the the night, swearing I hear a tow truck driver! I promised Nissan that I am paying them tomorrow Moneygram, but still they are pushing for my payment. I'm out $812.95 and out of ideas or ways to make my car payment. I swear... If they take my car?!?!?!

Went to grocery store to get food and such knowing there was $400.00 on card and total came to $246.53. It was declined. Thinking it was a mistake I had them run card again, something happened. I came home and called number on back of card. First I got no one for several days. Finally someone called and they spoke broken English. Told me my money was frozen to pay $360.00 to a credit card I don't own. After a few hours of investigate I found out stepson used my card to pay his credit card. They said they would send dispute papers in mail and you only have 8 days to receive, fill out and send back.

We never got the paper after 10. I call and was told they would send out a new one. They did and I sent it back along with the case number from state police showing I filed charges. I received that paper one day before my 10 days was up and had postmark to prove it. I received a letter telling me case is closed because I failed to send to them on time. Are you kidding. You send to me late, failed to send first one and then denied me money stolen from me. $360.00 gone. The state police called trying to clear this mess up because they also tried to say there wasn't a case filed and they refused to talk to them. Walmart is no better to be called a thief than my stepson is. It's been 2 years and I still haven't gotten my money and I probably never will.

Currently I'm unemployed and through my state I have direct deposit allowed for my unemployment benefits. I didn't have ANY type of bank account until yesterday after this happened to me. I am a Type 1 diabetic and was going to purchase my insulin and supplies, which if any of you know a diabetic you know they need insulin to LIVE. I always check my balance to see how much money I will have left until my next unemployment check and when I did I noticed I only had 10.51 left on my card. Now I have been using Walmart's prepaid card since they were with GE capital bank, which btw helped me out a hell of a lot more than this Green Dot crap. I had identity theft once last year. Someone got somehow got my card information and made a hotel stay in Oregon. I have since received a new card after that incident.

I called up the old customer service line and was given my money back that same day and was able to take it all out of the card before they cancelled it. This time however I had identity theft in Miami, someone took out 220 dollars from an out of network ATM and then spent 2.14 for a soda or something similar at the same Walgreens store in which they took my money out of a Chase Bank ATM. So here I am with 227.14 stolen from me on a completely fixed income. I live check to check right now. When I noticed I IMMEDIATELY called the customer service number and filed the dispute thinking I would get my money back right away and I could do the same thing I did before. WELL BOY WAS I WRONG. Walmart told me I couldn't even file the complaint until it posted to my account, (funny though the money is already gone) so I was told I had to wait until it posted which could be up to 10 business days they said. I completely lost my mind because I NEED my insulin supplies which that money was going towards.

They told me there was nothing that could be done no matter how many people/supervisors I spoke with. So the transaction posted yesterday on the 22nd, I called them today to attempt again for the 10th time to get my money back, to which I was told I had to download a Transaction Dispute form, fill that out and as this specific supervisor Jay told me I could take a picture of it and send it to an email address that I later found out wasn't even valid. So I did what they told me to do even after the obscene questions they asked about if I was in Miami or if I gave my PIN number to anyone (my wife and mother don't even know my PIN) and then emailed the form to the supposed correct email which I'm still not 100% sure of. All I know is I need my money back and I cannot wait 10 business days for an investigation and a letter from them saying whether or not they will be issuing me MY MONEY back.

All I can say is that if I do not receive every single penny that was stolen from me back I will be suing Walmart and Green Dot for pain and suffering, my lost wages and the fact that if I don't receive my money by October 30th I will be going to the hospital so I can stay alive on this planet and then they'll be paying for my medical bills as well. This is absolutely Absurd how they can treat people this way with their own money. If a regular bank can issue you the money while they're investigating your claim, why can't a multi-million if not Billion dollar company do the same thing?

Any internal review of these facts would instantly determine that I could not possibly have any other cards of this type in my possession.

The personal consequences of this outrageous and damaging action are that my ability to maintain my home and my very livelihood are now in jeopardy. The consequences to Walmart and Green Dot will be that I will terminate my patronage of Walmart/Green Dot, any and all of their associated services, products and affiliates, and encourage my family, friends, and acquaintances to do the same. I will also at every opportunity, and to the full extent of my ability, portray Walmart/Green Dot and their associated services, products, and affiliates, in the worst possible light imaginable.

It is very clear to me that by this completely arbitrary, unwarranted, and potentially life-threatening and irreparably damaging action, that Walmart/Green Dot neither values nor desires my many thousands of dollars of business throughout the years. I will therefore act accordingly, and regard them as henceforth undesirable and of no value.

I was trying to activate a new phone with Straight Talk. I had to purchase a network access code from Straight Talk to get my type of phone activated. I tried to purchase the code over the phone with a Straight Talk agent after he got my serial number from my phone and my Walmart money card information. He then said his system wouldn't process the transaction and I had to do the purchase online. I then tried to purchase the code online. It said "your card has been charged" and showed a button that said activate. After I clicked the button to activate, nothing happened. I didn't get the code or even a confirmation number.

I then tried the process again (I needed my phone working) and the same thing happened. I then checked my Walmart money card online and could see I had been charged twice for $7.65. I then contacted Straight Talk to get a refund and then was told the two charges showed the serial number of the phone wasn't the same for the two charges and due to company policy I couldn't get a refund. Even after I explained there was a error and I didn't get a network access code, they said policy stated no refunds, and I had to contact my Bank or card provider to dispute the charges.

I called Walmart money card and told them what happened. The "supervisor" in the dispute department said if I authorized the charges, she couldn't do anything. So I called Straight talk again. After a long time on the phone with them, I was finally told they couldn't process a refund because the serial number for the two purchases did not match up. I told them many times I only used the same serial number and that was not possible. I did not authorize a different serial number from my phone so the charges were not authorized.

I then called Walmart money card again and got the same "supervisor" and told her somehow the serial number did not match my phone and I did not authorize that. She was extremely rude and very unprofessional and since I called in before about it, she would not help me. She then threatened to close my account and I would lose all the money on my Walmart money card. I had to beg her not to close my account because I needed my money. She told me to call law enforcement because she would not dispute the charges. I'm still in shock I had to beg her not to close my account and wish I had recorded the call because I would take legal action for this. She told me all calls were recorded though.

I sent it back to Walmart and after a couple of months received a new one with many fees having reduced my balance to $25. I have had bad experiences with this in the past and I figured this would be a safer way to do this. After trying to purchase the program and being denied several times, I tried to contact customer support, which automatically sent me a permanent card. Upon trying to active the new card, it would not allow me and I contacted customer support. The customer service rep told me my account was blocked due to unusual activity and the only way to unblock the account was to fax in a copy of my driver's license and SS card. After telling her that I was not faxing in a copy of my ss card and asking if there was any other way, she only repeated her answer. I asked to speak with her manager and she said she was a manager. When I asked to speak to her superior she responded that she was unable to transfer my call.

I have had Walmart MoneyCard for over 5 yrs now and never had any huge problems until today! I was in an emergency situation and tried using my card and it was declined. My sick son and I were stranded for hours in 105 degree heat due to this. This evening, I called customer service after verifying online that I in fact had plenty of funds (MY MONEY) in my acct. First off, the outsourced Philippines-based company answering the phones are rude, incompetent and cannot speak English that I can understand fully. What I did understand is that my card was blocked because of a suspicious credit from Paypal.

Paypal simply issued a credit of $27.99 back to my card yesterday because of an eBay auction I won but never received. Original purchase was more than credit because I won several auctions and paid all at one time. Debit charge somewhere in ballpark of $63.00. When I asked the rep why this was considered suspicious and enough to block access to my entire funds, his response was: "Ma'am, when there is a credit for a certain amount, there should be an original debit of the same amount and we need to investigate."

I am floored and so disgusted with this establishment. Who is running this company and writing policies? I believe this is yet another disgusting excuse to finagle consumer funds!! How many of you have shopped either online or in a department store and purchased more than 1 item, got home and realized one of the items were defected and returned item? Original receipt $120, returned item $20. So you have a debit higher than a credit going back to your card. So the idiot rep has no claim to his statement and I have no access to my money. If they are suspicious about $27 credit then hold $27 until you grow some common sense or contact Paypal to verify but how dare you keep me from using my entire funds in the meantime. Where is the legal petition because I am ready to sign it now!

I've had a permanent Walmart Moneycard for the better part of three years now. Mostly, it was used to purchase gas, at the onsite Murphy's USA pumps, as it saves an additional 0.15/gal. I've always reloaded the card at Walmart, at either a register, or at their Money Center. I've NEVER had an issue with it, until just the the other day. Upon attempting to purchase gas, I was told my card was declined. So, I paid with cash and went on my way. When I got home, I called the customer service number. After entering the pertinent information, the recording told me my card had been cancelled and I would be unable to reload the card OR even purchase a new one. I was able to unlock the remaining money on the account (after all, it's MY money, right??). Do you all realize just how prevalent the GreenDot cards are?!

Right away, I knew this was going to be a headache, as the automated system's option for actually speaking to a live person only rerouted me to the option to change my PIN. So, I was able to send an email to their customer service people, and they called me back today. I was forwarded to Josh. Right away, I noticed that he was using canned responses ("that's what the system says"). I was told that due to "suspicious activity" my account had been closed and this "activity" could have been something as benign as reloading the card at an unusual place. A few days prior, I actually had reloaded the card with a MoneyPak, from a local Walgreen's (a lot more convenient and closer than Walmart). The amount was $60. SIXTY DOLLARS!!!

Poor Josh couldn't even tell me what the specific reasoning was for my account being canceled. When I asked to speak with HIS supervisor, he told me that HE was the supervisor. He then told me that he was able to unlock my account, so I could access my money. If Josh was competent, he should have been able to see that the remaining balance was already unlocked. When asked about specifics, he only said "the system doesn't say why". So, this system is fully capable of CANCELING someone's account, yet is totally unable to state why?!? BALLS!!! And why even have supervisors, if they're willing/able to give the information requested. I'm thinking poor Josh might simply have had perfect attendance, this preceding month, and he got to play supervisor, this week. HA! He didn't even know the money had already been unlocked.

Anyway, I know... tl;dr. 1. The "suspicious activity" doesn't even have to be large amounts of money, just a different location. 2. Don't expect any answers, only rehearsed and template responses. 3. The supervisors are little more than lackeys, with no real access to real information. 4. "Well, that's what the system says" (i.e. You're SCREWED!!)

I purchased this card although I already had one with a check cashing facility because the fees were so minimal. Before buying & loading the card, I spoke with 5 Walmart employees, including a manager to make sure I understood what I was buying. I was assured that all the information stated on the card's packaging was accurate and that being a product of Walmart, it was more reliable than the other cards available. So I bought it and loaded $150 on the card. The main reason I chose the card I did (the most expensive of the choices, all Walmart brand) was because it was the only one that had the ability to shop & pay bills online. I had bills due that day and was told by the employees (based on the information that they had from thoroughly examining the card) that I could use the card that day to pay my bills online. I loaded all my money onto the card, went home, and tried to pay my bills.

The card was denied every time (& the bills I was attempting to pay were major companies like PG&E, Netflix, Virgin Mobile). So I called the customer service line. I was told that only certain vendors would accept the temporary card & I would have to wait until my permanent card was mailed to me which would take 7-14 business days. I was livid. I then asked why they did not make this clear on the packing and was told that there are a few free places that take the temp card and, no, they didn't have a list. I said that I wanted to get my money off the card & close the card. I was told that I could not withdraw the money because it was a temporary card and they could close the account and send me a check. This would also take 7-14 business days. That's convenient... for them.

I kept the card open and had to borrow money to pay my bills. I have had numerous issues with them since including having my card "declined" by a vendor online, stating that the financial institution was saying the security code I entered was wrong. I retried the transaction 2 times. On the third time, the card was declined outright. Upon calling the dreaded customer service line, I found out that they put a hold on the funds each time. It drained my account. They agreed that the mistake was entirely their fault, but due to their policies (they had the nerve to tell me they were doing it for MY PROTECTION) they could not release the funds until 7-10 BUSINESS days later.

When I asked where or how I could file a complaint, I was told that wasn't possible. This service has been an awful experience from the word go. I would recommend that anyone considering buying one should NOT. I truly believe it is a scam to get you to pay the purchase price of the card & the monthly fee. They completely misrepresented the capabilities of the card by omitting important details and miswording the description on the packaging. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS.COMPANY. IT IS NOTHING BUT HEADACHES AND LIES. I am disgusted that Walmart puts their name on this product. Again, I think this is a clever ruse to make you feel like you can trust the product and you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT.

Little did I know, however, that you need to provide them with your social security number and in order to withdraw money you must be at least 18. None of this information is presented to you before you actually BUY the card. Because I wasn't 18, I am now stuck with the temporary card that I am unable to withdraw money with. So be warned, for a LARGE NUMBER OF REASONS YOU MAY BE STUCK WITH THE TEMPORARY CARD, UNABLE TO WITHDRAW CASH WITH. This is especially scary after reading so many stories of user's accounts being frozen, money not going through, because I would want to take my money out of that card ASAP.

You can't pay certain bills with the temporary card only, with the original card they send out, which they say takes 7 to 10 days, which the cards never arrive. And once you call them for new cards, they put a lock on the temporary card that you have. And there goes the money you had in that card 'cause you won't be able to use it until you get another new card which will take 7 to 10 days to come, which they don't arrive. So now you're stuck without being able to use these ** cards or take your money out. WALMART IS SCAMMING THE PEOPLE WHO BUY THESE USELESS CARDS. I was paid for business services by someone handing me one of these cards. It seemed simple enough. He had the card, still in the package, and a receipt from Walmart. He had paid the amount of money he owed me, as well as the fee for the card. I tried to return it to Walmart for a refund. No soap. I was told that I had to activate the card in order to get the money. By that time, only a few days or so, a "service fee" had been charged. I went online and activated the card, only to find out that I could not withdraw cash, but I could only use the card to pay for stuff. I needed the cash for the business, not money for materials!

In multiple calls to Walmart MoneyCard help desk, I was told that they would have to mail me another card (which would take enough weeks to incur yet another fee) that I could use for cash withdrawals. After that time passed, it still was not here. I called and they put in a rush order for it. The card arrived, with only a few days left before I had another fee. I decided, since my balance by this time, ended in $**91.89, I should try to spend it, rather than lose whatever denomination I would lose by trying to get cash out of their machine.

I was quite proud that I was able to spend down to the last .41 on the card on the day before I got charged another fee. BUT... and this is the part that makes me the most angry... Walmart held that transaction. It was pending until they charged the fee. In fact, it is STILL pending 5 days later. The company I used it with can't do a refund because it's pending. Walmart won't do anything except charge the fee when the company I bought from releases the charge. Walmart MoneyCard shows my current balance to be -$2.59. So now, I have items that I have purchased that I can't get... a fee that I have that I can't pay... with funds that I cannot get released. What a mess! At least I know to NEVER, EVER take this form of payment again.

I've been using this card for a few years and had been having a decent experience until a few months ago. My son's father pays me child support with a Green Dot card and I put it on my money card each month. So he sent me the number for the Money Pak and I called the automated number to add it because that's the only option to add the Money Pak. So I put in my 16 digit card number then the Money Pak. The automated system said, "We will be adding $200 to the card number ending in **" and it had the correct last 4 digits. So I proceeded. Finished the process and hung up. After a few minutes the money didn't show up so I called customer service. First off every person is foreign and barely speaks English. Next the automated system will tell you the reps have the same information as the website... then why do they even have reps?!?!? Aren't they supposed to be able to help us?

It takes forever to get through the process to talk to someone because you have to keep going through menus and choosing the correct number and each time it gives you extra options... almost like it is trying to convince you not to talk to a rep. So I finally get a rep and he tells me I need to wait at least 15 minutes to see my money on the account. Ok no problem. About an hour later I call back and the rep still can't find my money. Another hour later and 3rd rep he finally figures out the issue. My money was put on someone else's card. Turns out there is another Walmart money card that is literally 1 digit different than mine (but ends in the same 4). How convenient for them. And just my luck I managed to get that 1 digit off. And because they only read you back the last 4 digits I thought everything was correct. What kind of company makes 2 debit cards that are only 1 digit apart and uses those kind of cards on a system like this?

The guy told me lucky for me the card it got added to hadn't been used on about 4 months so it shouldn't be too hard to get the money back. He was really nice and actually semi spoke English but because of the crazy circumstances he had to transfer me to his supervisor. She told me it was my fault for putting in the wrong number and they couldn't just take the money from that other card. They would have to investigate it and make sure the other people didn't use the money on the card. If they did use it then they had no way to get my money back. I had to send in pictures of the front and back of the Money Pak and the receipt. They had to investigate the issue and it would take 10 business days. So for 2 weeks I had no money at all. Then a few days before the resolution date I called to figure out what was going on and the woman tells me they never received my pictures and once they got them it would be 10 business days.

I finally got my money back after all this ** and after 2 weeks. Then today I misplaced my card. Before I report it lost I wanted to see how long it takes to get a new card. The rep told me 7-10 business days and I asked if there was any way for me to access my funds. I just got paid Friday and every penny I have is on my money card. I understand 7-10 business days and even most banks are that way but at least with banks you can go to the bank and withdraw money. So he tells me there's no way to get it earlier. I told him as soon as I find my card I'm withdrawing my money and canceling because their customer service is horrible. He was so rude he said it's not their responsibility to keep up with my card and I should be more responsible.

Also when he answered instead of saying "Thank you for calling" or asking "How can I help you?" he instead said, "My name is ____ what is the date and amount of the transaction you have a problem with?" all in a very rude tone. I didn't have an issue with a transaction... why would you even answer the phone like that?!! It's not like you could really understand him very well anyway. Their call centers must be in the Middle East because every person I have ever spoken to has been foreign with very very broken English.

Thanks to my boyfriend and family and a side hustle, I was able to have money in my pocket but now I have over $1400 that I can't use until I receive a card that I'm sure they've never sent out. So beyond pissed.

On June 27th 2014, I decided to give the Wal-Mart Green Dot card a try. I had just got paid and went ahead and put approximately $400.00 on the temporary card and bought several other items totaling about $200 and paid cash. I used the temporary card here and there for gas and other small purchases until my personalized card arrived the fifth of July. I activated it, used it several times, and everything seemed ok. Well, it's bill time, and I went ahead and paid most of the bills with my card I have been using for a while, saving the last for my new Green dot card. Long story short, I returned some purchases to Wal-Mart and when the exchange was almost complete I asked if they could put the approximately $180 on my new personalized card as I was getting ready to transition my direct deposit paycheck to this card. Anyway, the lady at customer service said no problem and put the funds onto my Green dot card, saying the funds should be available in about fifteen minutes.

Well, about twenty minutes later, stopped to get some food with a friend and the card declined. That was odd because there still should have been a little money left on it. Especially for a pizza. I figured maybe it was a mistake until I tried to swipe it at a coke machine for $1.50. I called customer service and my call was quickly accepted and I was on the phone with a customer service agent who I figured was about to solve all my problems. He said my card is locked because the return was put onto the card that was not initially used to purchase the returned item. I told him I only had the card for two days, had paid cash for the item returned, but apparently this is policy I failed to read, even though I do not see the problem with MY money being added to MY card. He informed me it would be my responsibility to gather both the original receipt and the return receipt and fax it to them. I really did not understand why I should have to take the time to fax them anything when there are transaction numbers or I am sure other means this could be verified between Green dot and Walmart. Then, he said after the 24 hour waiting period I would be allowed access to my money and the hold would be lifted.

I explained to him that my utility bill is nearly late and I do not have 24 hours. He said to take care of the faxing thing as soon as possible and everything will get cleared right up. Woke up extra early to run to Wal-Mart and all employees behind the counter acted like they had never heard this request before but accommodated me. Upon leaving, I called customer service to let them know we can now move on where I got the 24 hour wait period again. I asked if there was a record of my calls because the guy last night said we could make it urgent and process it through. She had no other answers besides policy is 24 hour waiting period. So, I gave it an hour or so and talked called again. This time, just to confirm they had received the fax and had all the information they needed. After about eight minutes of what seemed to be the first time she had to locate this information, she finally said she did receive it so I started pushing to unlock my card explaining that it is really important I have access to my money as soon as possible. After another few minutes and me not hiding my frustration any longer, she agreed to unlock the card since I "complied" with their requests and they had all the information they needed.

So, I went out, made a few transactions and everything was fine. With payday coming and a lot of overtime on this check I decided to make some less than necessary purchases and when I finally made it to pay my utility bill, declined. They were very understanding as I gave them a summary about what had happened my third day with this card. So, now we are on my sixth or seventh call to customer service in a 24 hour period and they informed me that my card was unlocked, however, it will be another 3-5 days while they investigate the return to Wal-Mart. The lady had no clue what I was talking about, was not understanding that I understood and solved the card being unlocked, but never, along this whole ridiculous mess, no one ever mentioned another 3-5 days for this single purchase. I expressed my extreme disappointment with their treatment and lack of flexibility for a new customer. I requested a supervisor and she said one was not present but got my phone number and said one would contact me as soon as possible. That was at least five hours ago. I asked how we could just end this relationship now and I get MY money and be done. That would take another 7-10 business days for them to get the check to me.

I understand policy but there is nothing odd about this transaction and they have documentation showing everything they need to see, everything is the way it should be. This is just insane to me. My suggestion would be to not even consider this service. Also, I am concerned with the longevity of this company and if they were to go out of business it seems like we are limited to and foreign outsourced customer support that does not have a clue. Once my money is cleared I am taking every penny out and I am done. If anybody has any suggestions of where I could talk to someone higher up the totem pole than the robots I have been communicating with, please let me know. That is, if I still have power. I am very concerned and uneasy about this company and I will think twice before I put a relatively large amount of money in a companies possession without doing extensive research. Good luck to everyone having a problem with these people and If I can help or anyone has any suggestions, please contact me immediately. Thanks!

I have been waiting for my income tax refund from the IRS since Jan. I received notification that my refund would be deposited to my account on June 24th. I checked on the 24th, 25th and 26th still nothing. I started to get nervous as rent, bills and other financial responsibilities were coming due. Oh like paying for my wedding dress and other wedding expenses. I looked online and saw all complaints how other peoples refunds were being returned. I called the money card phone number and listened to the recent purchases and denials. And wouldn't you know my refund of 1,800 was declined and was being sent back to the IRS. The recording said that I can contact the IRS in 2 business days. I was furious when I called later to speak with a supervisor all she had to say was that because it isn't tax season that they couldn't accept the deposit.

I then stated that they should of sent out a letter or some form of notification to the customers using the card. She said she agreed and that she will advise her supervisor for next year. I told her that I expect a call from corporate to discuss this issue, she put me on hold and then said I should expect a call in 2-3 business days that was Thursday the 26th still no call. I have contacted a lawyer about this matter as my fiance had to take a loan for 300.00 and I have to borrow money from my father to try to make our rent payment. The lawyer believes that anyone affected by this has a shot. I will be in touch with him tomorrow when I fax the terms and conditions of the card. Which I did not find anything stating that after tax season they would reject a deposit from the irs. I am going to take my money out of the account asap and use regions bank card. If anyone wishes to contact me about this please post to this comment.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT PUT MONEY ON A WAL-MART MONEY CARD! Someone somehow stole my card # and charged almost $700 to Wonderland Canada Amusement Parks and wiped out my account! After speaking with about 15 different idiots that barely spoke English at Wal-Mart Money Card, they informed me that it does not matter what name or billing address is used to make online purchases as long as the card # is correct and there is sufficient money to cover the purchase!

WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP! What is the point of setting up all of the security features if they don't matter? How can Wal-Mart, an American company that supposedly cares about its customers partner with a company that continues to cheat people out of money every minute of every day? I have made numerous calls to Wal-Mart with absolutely NO response from them! I think it is time that everyone, nation wide and beyond, know how crooked they are and I am just the person to make sure this happens.

I will be contacting the media today as well as an attorney to make sure Wal-Mart is held responsible for their actions. I would like everyone that has had an issue with their money card to please contact me at ** so that we can all join in and file a class action lawsuit against Wal-Mart and Green Dot. They make millions every day off of consumers so it's time they pay for their reckless and despicable behavior. Thank goodness I am persistent and did my own investigation into my situation because had I not, nothing would have been taken care of by either Wal-Mart or Green Dot.

After countless hours of phone calls with Wonderland Canada and their credit card processing company, I was able to find out exactly who made the charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest yesterday. Wonderland Canada has been very helpful in correcting this fraudulent charge but the fact is, it should have never been approved by Wal-Mart Money Card to begin with. This person did not use my name or my billing address when making the purchase so why was the charge not declined? Every bank and credit card company protects its customers by making it mandatory that the name and billing information must match or the charges will be declined so why is Green Dot allowed to get by with not doing this?

Why would Wal-Mart not make sure the company they partner with is using the highest levels of security to protect its consumers? ANSWER = Because they don't care! I am asking everyone to please post as many posts to your social media accounts as possible warning people not to use Wal-Mart Money Card and to boycott Wal-Mart until they step up to the plate and do something to fix the very serious security issue!

I've used this card for 5 years with no problem. Two days ago, I stopped at the market for a few things, and the card was declined, although I have 886.00 on it. It doesn't expire until 3/2015. I called Customer Service in India and was told a security block was put on my card for my own safety, and a new card was mailed in April - 2 months ago. I said I have been using the card all along through the end of June with no problem. The guy said I had to wait 7-10 days before a new card was issued to access my money. I am broke!

I called again; when I got home, the agent said he took off the block temporarily, so I should immediately go to a store and take out as much money as I needed til the new card arrived. The card was declined. I called back and another agent said it's okay, the system was just updating, call back in one hour. When I called back, the Call Center was closed. Yesterday morning I called again, and was told everything was fine, there were just technical difficulties. I tried the card again. Still no money.

I called back and was told I could not access my money until a new card arrived in 7-10 days. What? Again? But he said they could "expedite" the card and I would receive it in 3-5 days, maybe sooner. He transferred me to a supervisor. I told the supervisor about the different responses I received, and he said he was sorry, but the customer service agents often lie. Then why are they there??? He said, maybe my employer could pay me in cash this week. I work for a large insurance company, they don't do that.

I told this supervisor that this was their error, and they should do something to allow me access to my money, that I didn't have money for food or gas to go to work. He said there was nothing to be done, except to allow 7-10 days for a new card. He said the "expedited" card was another lie by the agents and apologized. He said they sent a new card in April, have I checked my mail? It's June! I check my mail every day. Something is going on. I don't know if a new card is really being sent or not. Maybe he lies too. I am borrowing money from my neighbors, and tomorrow morning at work, I have to stop my direct deposit before they trap that money too. Several of my automatic withdrawal bills have already declined.

I've read a lot of the complaints here, and I wonder why no one has held Walmart or the bank responsible. They leave us in the hands of a call center in a 3rd world country, with agents who are barely intelligible, and where apparently it is ok to lie and financially damage Walmart customers. If there is a class action lawsuit, I would like to know about it. Sign me up!

I have been a loyal customer of the Walmart Green Dot money card for approximately 5+ years. The particular cards I held were called the "Student Pack." The cards were sold to me under the premise of being an inexpensive alternative to Western Union & MoneyGram. I was the primary on the account and my mother, who lives in Georgia, was the other card holder. The cards proved to be much more cost efficient money transfer methods, as well as a level of financial security for my mother and I. We found that by loading the card and paying bills from the cards, we limited the exposure of our primary bank accounts. The cards had become a necessity to our financial security as well.

On June 24, 2014, my mother bought a $25.00 money pack to load onto the card and was denied. The recording stated that the card had been deactivated and that we were NEVER to be Green Dot card holders again in the future. Clearly thinking that either a mistake was made or my account may have been compromised in some way, I contacted the customer service department by the number on the back of the card. I was connected with a representative named Glena, who informed me that my card had been disabled due to what they called "suspicious re-load activity." Naturally, this led me to assume that my account had indeed been hacked, so I asked her for the dates and amounts of this suspicious activity. Her first response was that she could not divulge that information to me.

After a roughly 10 minute exchange between her and I, she informed me that on June 10, 2014 a $20.00 deposit was made to the card and approximately 2-3 hours later, another $50.00 deposit was loaded as well. According to Glena, that in itself was one of the suspicious re-load activities that cancelled my card. I informed Glena that I sent the $20.00 to my mom to give to my son for an activity with his 4-h group, and then sent her another $50.00 to help her on a bill. Glena first told me that I should have loaded the whole $70.00 instead of the two smaller loads. Then she went on to tell me that money transfer was not the card's intended use. I then informed Glena that the cards were originally sold to me as a more cost efficient way to send money, and my mother and I had been transferring money to each other for over five years using this method without it ever being a problem.

After another half hour of arguments, Glena stated that the cards were deactivated and that I'd have to find another card carrier. I, at that point, asked to speak with a supervisor because I had direct deposits coming to my card as well as automatic bill payments set up. First she tells me that I can't speak with a supervisor. Then after more arguments, she says that she'd have a supervisor call me within one hour. One hour and twenty minutes later I had to call customer service back because I never heard from a supervisor.

This time, a gentleman named Chris connected me directly with the compliance supervisor named Shally. After a series of rude remarks, Shally rested on the company's right to terminate service without prior warning to the customer. I repeatedly asked Shally to point out to me which rule in the terms and agreements I had broken, and she could not do so. The last person I wad passed to was Jes, who was the rudest of all, and he told me that I was just "out of luck." I am currently seeking legal remedies as well as contacting Walmart and Visa. Green Dot is a sham and a disgrace to the financial world. I will NEVER again in life have anything to do with Walmart Money Card or Visa pre-paid debit cards. They have cost me tremendous inconveniences, and their level of professionalism is dismal.

My son works in another State in remote areas. I help him manage his money and the best way we could come up with for his paychecks to deposit was with the Walmart money card. It's been much trouble dealing with it. The biggest problem is that he broke the card. I called and ordered a new one, but with the same account number. It takes 7-10 days for a new one to arrive and when it finally did arrive, it would not activate! When I finally got through to the Spanglish speaking rep, after going through about 7 steps of automation, I found out that when you order a "NEW/Replacement" Card that the current account number is cancelled.

So here I am, locked out of any access to the money and they explain that someone should have told me that it would be a new account number and card. The said card is on its way (another 7-day wait) and until that time, the account is frozen. I have had to front/wire my son money while a good amount of money is 'frozen' on his account. This has been a major inconvenience! Walmart money cards are NOT the way to go. Find another way to manage your money. All of the reps are foreign and speak terrible English. They cannot answer your questions well and there are no solutions to any problems. They just say over and over "We are sorry!" Bottom line - Don't deal with Walmart Money cards! They're horrible!

While standing there, I received my daily txt update I receive from Walmart on my phone, and I turned the screen to show the clerk. She cancelled and tried again and it again declined with call contact card co.

SO I went to called the 800 # on the back of my card. A recording informed me they had decided to cancel my card. If I had any auto deposits I would need to make other arrangements. They had returned an auto deposit check 5-30 and returned the check (my SS comes in on the 30th? And they don't post it to ME, my acct till the 3rd??). HMMM... someone is making interest. So the message went on to say if I agreed to them closing my acct to press ONE, if not I could connect with a person to discuss.

I had another family member they closed an acct on as well as a couple of other persons and learned IF you talk to someone, they don’t give you access to your money ON the card and can take as long as they want to process it to you. SO of course I pressed ONE and it said I was allowed now to use the money that was on my card but could not add any more funds to the card. I received no letter or call or email to inform me of them closing the acct. I still have access to my online acct for checking balance and such and on it, no place does it state the acct is inactive or went inactive and closing. No dates, no notes, NADA... What gives?? How can they do that and WHY?? WHY being my biggest question. Being that I have had this card over 5 years and never had any issues problems or nada. I was a good customer. IS Walmart closing out customers randomly or closing down all their Walmart MoneyCards since it sold out to the other Bank?? Wish someone would know something.

I so wish I had done this earlier. I lost half my hard-earned income due to whatever this problem is two years ago. I made the mistake of purchasing multiple blue Walmart cards in hope that the money I earned would have been safe. To my dismay it was the complete opposite and I'm beginning to learn that I am not alone. :/ It started when I defaulted on my bank accounts with chase and Wells Fargo. I had overdrawn my accounts by $60 and my debt began to grow. Eventually my accounts closed and my credit score lowered. So for years I could not open another bank account. I decided to try using gift cards and prepaid cards to hold my money due to being robbed for a couple thousand dollars several times. I know it was stupid of me to carry so much but what was I supposed to do if my bank accounts were not allowed to open and as I started working again which was the reason I had to close my accounts anyways due to losing my job?

For a while the cards were working great and I was happy that I chose to use them. But one day it began to start acting fishy and I was told it was just a glitch and my money would still be there. Not much so as I lost $2500. I quickly started emptying my cards as quick as I could and barely left with half of whatever I put onto them. :/ I was embarrassed by friends and family who I told worked great and even have away many as gifts with 20$ on them. I feel extremely stupid now because I lost a lot of money and now to this day I am broke and can't even pay my month to month bills. I didn't even think money could get stolen off these cards because they weren't even real credit cards. Anyways that's my addition to everyone's comments. I lost a client, had to run to another bank to get cash for lunch or they were going to press charges, and customer service told me they had no record of a declined transaction and if I wanted a refund I would have to wait 7 to 10 days for a check to be issued. Wal-Mart is in way over their head. When I called back to complain, I immediately asked to speak to a supervisor. They told me they would have to "try and find one". I purchased the Walmart Money card over a year ago to assist me in paying online bills, etc. However, I did not realize (or receive notice) that my card had expired last month. I went to Walmart and uploaded $260 onto the card (before noticing it was expired, of course) - had no issues with them taking the money. BUT... when I got home to pay my electric bill - NO GOOD! I tried to withdraw the money... NO GOOD! Due to the card being expired!! HOW CAN THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY on an expired card that you can't spend??!! I understand it was my bad for putting the money on the expired card - but don't you think if it's not going to allow you to USE the card... that it shouldn't allow you to upload more funds?? Now, I am stuck! Any suggestion on what to do? Other than wait and call Customer Service in the morning? My lights are due off at 7 am if it's not paid!!! UGH!

We live in Utah and had planned a trip to Disneyland - so ALL of our money was on our Walmart Money Card. We made it down to California and the first day in the park - our card declined when purchasing food but the balance said we still had over $2000 so we called the number and they said our card had been frozen for fraud protection because it was used in multiple states. We told them we are in California and had made purchases in Utah, Nevada and California and that was it - so they unfroze our card and we tried to pay for our meal again and it declined again.

So we checked the balance again and it was at -$2 so we called back right away and we were then informed that someone had spent ALL of our money in Houston, Texas between Walmart and Walgreens and even took $400 out of an ATM. So we inform them we are now stranded in a different state with not a penny and they didn't care we weren't even able to check into our hotel because we had no security deposit. It was miserable. We had saved and made sure we had plenty of money for our family Vacation. Then it was ruined in a second - and Walmart GreenDot MoneyCard didn't care at all.

All they said is they would have to wait for the charges to go from pending to posted, then I could call back in to report the fraud and it would take anywhere between 10 to 45 days to investigate it. So horrible. Worst experience of our lives to be stranded with nothing. Luckily my mother had given each of my kids a Disneyland gift card so we were able to get food with that and because it happened so late, we couldn't even find a Western Union to receive money. We had to wait till the next day and we were lucky a family member was able to send us money to get us by and get home, but it wasn't as much as we had saved so we weren't able to do a lot of things that were planned to do.

My wife and I have had our Walmart Money card for about 5 years now. Up until she retired her teacher's salary was put on it by direct deposit every month. When she retired, she had her Teacher's Retirement put on it by direct deposit. On March 26 we put $100 on the card at the store and bought some groceries and paid for my yahoo website. On the 28th, My wife tried to use it at Sonic to get a $3.00 burrito and found that she couldn't even though the account said that we had $23.00 on the account. She tried to use it later at the store thinking that maybe it was just Sonic's machine, but still was unable to use it.

On the 31st when her retirement was supposed to go on, we checked the account and found that it still only had $23.00 on it. So we called the number of the phone on the back. We were told that our card had been blocked due to unusual activity. I tried to talk to the person, but the person just said there was nothing she could do. I asked what the unusual activity was and she said she didn't know. So we got a number from the Green Dot website, for public relations and a woman told me that the card had been permanently blocked for unusual activity and we would be able to spend what we had on it, but they sent the Teacher's Retirement back. She also said we would not be allowed to have another Green Dot or Walmart Card, since Green Dot has a contract for all Walmart prepaid Debit cards. I asked to speak with her supervisor and she put me on hold, but I got cut off.

I called back and got someone in the Philippines. This guy told me the same thing. I read off all the debits and deposits and asked him to tell me which one was unusual, and he said that for security reasons he was not allowed to tell me which one of my debits and/or deposits were unusual. Because of this, we have had to get another card, have her check put on that card and wait two more weeks to get it, which means that for the next two weeks, we will be late paying bills and my medications will have to wait. I don't think that this is very fair.

Of course, I am 12 days away from giving birth so it's hormones too but that was everything in my account! They said since it's "pending" I will have to wait a week to get it resolved! What the heck?? Asked them if they have any kind of policy about fraudulent charges and apparently they don't! I went home and looked on my account transaction and was shocked to find out there were 14 total fraudulent activities! Not just withdrawals but deposits too...all today! There were 6 very large deposits (between $300-$1600) and the same amounts were debits at hotels and chalets and other places all over the US (AK, CA, MO, AR, NY, AL, TX). I don't know what is going on but the best Walmart could do was close the account and send me a new card. I will be going back to a real bank from now on! No more Walmart Cards for me!! Pulled up the transaction history Online and noticed there were 47 unauthorized charges made totaling $4100, all PENDING. Immediately notified the out-sourced, script reading "customer service" department of the fraudulent activity. Told they would close that account and issue a new card (7-10 BUSINESS days to receive), and provide a transaction dispute form to dispute the charges (AFTER THE CHARGES POST)! Waited 7+ days for the pending charges to post and finally was able to dispute the charges. Told "investigation" would take 10 BUSINESS days to conduct. Mind you, I have no money and the new card still had not arrived in the mail.

Waited my 10 days for the so called "investigation" to be conducted only to be told, "SINCE THE CARD WAS IN YOUR POSSESSION AND A PIN # WAS USED, CLAIM DENIED!! CHARGES WILL REMAIN ON YOUR CARD AND DEEMED AUTHORIZED"... I kid you not! This is what I was told. Every single charge was made at an online/.com store. To my knowledge no PIN # is required to shop online. And because the card was “in my possession" you deemed all activity valid?? I don't even know how to respond to that! Thank goodness a handful of the establishments fraud detection software kicked in and many charges were reversed by the vendor - NOT Walmart/Green Dot! I've contacted the 20+ merchants remaining fighting to get the remaining $1500 in charges reversed only to be told to "dispute the charge with my bank." I immediately called the company and when I finally got a service agent on the phone, he responded, "We have been awaiting your call. We had noticed some unusual activity on your card and closed the account. We can issue you a new card and it will take 10-14 business days to arrive or you can get it in 3-5 business day for $20." (Well I needed my card so I opted for the 3-5 business days.)

As for the pending posts I had to wait until they posted. Well they posted 3/12/2014 and I called them back and filed a Transaction dispute form. (Mind you if they would make this much more easier to complete with an electronic signature and email directly through the site would be helpful, as I had to complete the form, print it off, sign it, scan it back onto my computer and email to them). Called them about an hr later to verify that it was received. It was but they kept telling me there was no attachment. So I resent it and called them back a forth time.

This time they were able to open the attachment and see the form. I was told that it would be up to 10 business day to get this matter taken care of, dispute made or declined or to ask for more documentation on the matter. The word "declined" bothered me deeply. I let them know that this phrase is not satisfactory and disturbing to say the least. I informed them that I was going to file a police report with my local authority for these transactions that took place in FL. I am in Nebraska and did not shop Target in Deerfield or Publix in Coconut Creek.

Only an apology and we understand what you are going through, but we have up to 10 days to get this matter handled unless we need further info from you. What more can I give them? I did not use my card for these transaction nor did I give authorization for them. I did not lose my card and requested the $3 fee be removed as my card was not stolen or lost, it was compromised. I was told that I should hear something no later than 3/27/14. That's a long time to get my monies back.

I want justice taken on the perpetrator who compromised my account and used is fraudulently. I did phone Publix and spoke to a manager and gave him info for him to research the activity via video. Target on the other hand was not cooperative. We shall see about that. So, to whomever is compromising debit cards and if you happen to read through this..Watch out. I am filing a police report against you and seeking legal action. This is fraud and a felony act. I am livid!!! My card worked fine while using it for the first few months. I have another card which I have used direct deposit on for over a year. I listened to all the ads saying have your tax refund added to your Walmart Money Card. I wish I had never done this. Even though your name and Social Security Number have to match in order for you to even apply for one of these cards, once I had the largest amount ever on a Walmart card from my tax refund on it, it instantly locked. The time I have been trying to get it unlocked, I would have been better off getting a paper check.

Not only are the people that I have to speak with from India and most of the time not understandable, they really have no idea what's going on with my card most of the time. My information that I sent to verify my identity was supposed to be reviewed within 8 to 10 business days. The documents I sent with their approval to verify my identity was a birth certificate, marriage license, and social security card, since I had not needed a License (stay at home mom, literally, lol) since it had been stolen over 4 years ago, they said these forms of ID would be work. After reviewing my information they said they would still need a government issued ID.

So I had to go and apply for this which would be mailed to me in 8 to 10 business days. They closed the first investigation into my card, only to have to open another once my Government Issued ID had arrived and I could fax it to them. Their primary fax line for this information was down at the time I needed to fax my information to them, so I had to fax it to one of the offices of the customer support team, which once received had to be attached to my newly opened investigation which they had another 8 to 10 business days to complete. The second customer support representative that I spoke with was supposed to give me a call back once the fax was received and after he had attached it to my investigation report. However after almost 24 hours of no call back, I had to call them. And now I am still waiting on them to verify the information given so that they can unlock my card.

Also I requested to speak with their supervisor in regards to the customer support representative that was supposed to give me a call back and attach my newly faxed Government Issued ID to my case and did not do either. Of course this was not possible. So I awaiting a call back from someone higher up with a reference number to my complaint that I was given, and out of all the times someone had supposed to have called me back, I have yet to receive even one call back.

If you want your Tax Refund back quickly, this is not the way to go. As soon as I do receive my money, I am withdrawing it and closing my card immediately. This has put me behind on many bills, purchases that I only get to make one a year, and I am so upset after waiting almost a month past receiving my money on my card I am still waiting to be able to use it. Please do not get this card.

My husband and I have used a Walmart Money Card for years. Now, come to find out, their money card system has been compromised. Several cards have been hit, and ours was one of them. When we first noticed, we were missing about $800. We called the customer support, and the Indian woman we spoke to said that the transaction hadn't gone through yet, so there was nothing we could do. We told her that it better not go through, because we were not authorizing it. She said the card numbers had probably got crossed, and somebody else had charged that money to their card, but it came off of ours...which doesn't even make sense. She suggested that we take the rest of the money off our card and have it cut off.

We looked up the city where the money was withdrawn from, and it was somewhere in London. We tried to do an ATM withdrawal to get the rest of our money, but we couldn't because the scammers had already withdrawn the maximum amount possible in one day. Well, the next morning, our last $400 was gone. We called again the next morning, and were given pretty much the same run around. At this point, we're missing $1200. We have $9 to our names, which we can't even access. Our rent and car payment are coming due soon.

We insisted on talking to a supervisor, even though the rude people we were talking to informed us that a supervisor could not give us back our money. We said we know, but we want to let them know how upset we are with the way this has been dealt with. The supervisor did help a little bit. She explained that there is nothing they can do until the payments are processed, which should be around March 14th. At that point, they will launch an investigation. She didn't expect the investigation to take long, since we obviously couldn't be making purchases in America and ATM withdrawals in London on two separate days. Still, she could not tell us how long it will take for us to get that money back.

In the meantime, we're not sure how our family is going to keep our house, our car, or even eat. And you want to know the real kicker? The supervisor we talked to said that they have been having issues like this with a lot of cards. What that means is that their whole system has been hacked, and they are doing NOTHING about it! They are not warning the customers, presumably because they don't want to lose all the money when people switch to other financial institutions. In other words, Walmart is just LETTING THIS HAPPEN to people! Please, if you value your money, your family, and your well-being, DO NOT get a Walmart Money Card!!!

Well-being that I was a kitchen supervisor, I’ve lost my job. There is no cure for this hmm. Well I was looking forward to my tax refund. I put my car in the shop with the intention of paying the bill with my refund that had been deposited on my Walmart money card. I was shocked when it was declined. I called (what is amusingly called customer service). The answer I was given, “We have to review your acct. It will be blocked for 10 working days.” When I ask why, all I get is they are reviewing my acct. I went to Walmart here and spoke to the manager he also thought that sounded strange. The shop where my car was being repaired is charging me 5$ a day that it sits there repaired and not aid.

My landlord said he could not wait that long for his rent. My daughter has Down syndrome and a heart problem. I don't have the cash for that. The only thing I am hearing from Walmart money card customer service is how they Understand? I am sitting at the table trying not to let my eyes tear in front of my children. When I came across all these stories that are almost the same as mine, I could not believe it. I was glad that others were going through the same thing. Strength in numbers. Well thank all of you really and I hope the for every one of you. Well really I don't know what I can do.

So I bought a Walmart Visa card. Been using it for almost 3 months now. I have never had a problem with it until I had my tax refund deposited on it, then all of a sudden I have no access to my money. I call the number on the back of the card. They started with the security questions. Before they were done they hung up so I call back. They tell me they can't take the block off because I failed the security questions. Bull crap, you hung up. So they tell me to send a copy of my ID and SS number. I called the attorney general for advice. He says do not do that so in turn I still have no access to my money. Please whatever you do do not buy this card!!! Walmart who sells the card, their name right on it, won't even help. So now I am stuck!!! PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE WALMART VISA!!!!!

Calling the number on the back of the card I was told that I must take a identity quiz with my brother, then I must fax a copy of my picture IS, SS, so I did that yesterday. Today they said it was too blurry, send it again and it will take 10 business days! I have done all they have told me to do. The biggest problem is they are holding money that he needs now, we have spoke to no one just I'm so sorrys. He's going to jail because we don't have the money. They want another fax before they act. They said nothing when we spoke yesterday other than that they had received it and I will in two days.

So this morning I was very pleased to see KY tax refund had been deposited on my new Walmart money card, finally I could take care of some things, one being getting my driver's license reinstated. I was able to use my card at a gas station and then again to withdraw $200 from an ATM to go pay for my insurance. After this, My 70 year old mother in law drove me 97 miles to go pay the reinstatement fee, only to get there and have my card denied. I immediately called the number on the back of the card and was told there was a block on my card because they needed further information to verify my identity. The rep asked me 3 security questions to which I answered all correctly and was told the block should be off in about 10 minutes.

About 5 minutes later I get a call back telling me that the block could not be lifted and I needed to fax my ID and SS card and it would take approximately 10 business days to lift the block. I was then hung up on. I called again and asked to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with Edward who told me my direct deposit from the IRS looked suspicious and that is why they blocked it but he couldn't tell me why I was able to use it twice before they blocked it. I am completely disgusted with Walmart and Green Dot and will NEVER recommend or use their services again!

My Husband and I have had the Walmart money card for over three years and in recent years had our income tax refund check deposited to our account. Well over $3000.00. This year it was over $10,000.00. I had called the IRS to try to stop the deposit of it and get issued a paper check but it was too late once I learned there was a limit and they told me to call the Walmart money card and ask to have the limit raised for a few days. I called and the first time I asked for a supervisor, all I heard was click, can you believe that, ask for a Supervisor and you get hung up on. I called back and spoke to a supervisor, got told we are sorry we can't do that, blah blah blah. I asked to speak to someone higher and she said I would have to talk to Corporate office and I asked for the number and she said she could not give it out. I will say their reps get a neglect 5 stars in service.

Today when I called I was told my refund check was reject as it was over the $3000.00 limit allowed. Which is it, $3000.00, $7500.00 or $10.000.00? Or do they make it up as they go. DO NOT USE THE WALMART MONEY CARD FOR NO REASON, they apparently have no clue what they are doing and I have opened a account at Chase and believe it or not, spent 20 minutes on the phone talking to someone who speaks English and can answer questions without hanging up on you or saying I don't know if we can do that.

I purchased the Walmart Money Card Jan. 19, 2014 and I called and got it activated on Jan. 21, 2014 and the card was supposedly mailed on Jan. 23, 2014. Automated system said that card should arrive Jan. 31, 2014 which was the day of my direct deposit on my job. I've called repeatedly since Jan. 31, and customer service kept telling me to wait a couple more days and if I hadn't received permanent card to call back. Yesterday, 2-10-14, no card so I called to report card not received and I was informed that I had two options: (1) Wait on a replacement card 7-10 days or (2) Can get it by FedEx which would require them to debit $19.99 from my account.

Since I have another payday coming this Friday 2-14-14, I chose option 2. From my understanding they said they were going to block my temp card until my replacement arrived. I ask for a FedEx tracking number and was told at the time they don't have it. I called today to get my acct & routing # so that I can go online to pay bills that are due. And the supervisor I talked to told me that he couldn't provide the info because when you pay bills online you can only do it with the actual card, which I know is inaccurate because to pay my student line online it requires the acct & routing # which I used with another prepaid acct. They also stated that my account was also blocked from any further transactions b/c I don’t have the permanent card meaning no online bill payments or online purchases.

When you talk to customer service it’s always somebody with a foreign accent speaking horrible English and I always have to constantly ask them to repeat themselves. I also informed them that I had a car payment that was due on Jan. 31, 2014 and although I explained the situation going on to the dealership. They (dealership) gave me until Feb 14, 2014 to pay, and I asked the supervisor what was I supposed to do, let them repossess my car and tell them that I hadn't received my car still. And the supervisor informed me "Yes, that's what you have to do!" What kind of response is that? I am still waiting on my card via FedEx which they say should arrive in 3-5 business days.

After reading all of these complaints, I see that I am not alone in the Walmart MoneyCard money problems. I have had my card since 2009 and never had any problems until today. I was on my lunch break with a co-worker and when I went to pay my card was declined! I thought maybe it was just an error when the cashier slide it. He attempted to slide it again, and to my shock it was declined once again. Needless to say I had to pay by other means. I stepped outside immediately and called the number on the back of my card.

After going through the automated system it stated my balance was ZERO! Which was not possible being that I had just gotten paid. I waited to speak to an operator and she barely spoke English. The operator told me that there were (2) charges from a Target in NY, mind you I live in Southern California. She then proceeds to tell me there is nothing they can do because the transactions are still pending. After becoming very frustrated with her, she then transferred me to a so called supervisor. Yet again another woman who does not speak very good English. The supervisor tells me I need to contact Target and dispute the transactions with them or I can wait 10 days for them to post. After the post I can then file a dispute.

By now I am beyond livid that no one came seem to help me. I get back to my office and log into my account online. Lo and behold there was not only transactions from (2) different Targets, Marriott, Hilton, and some place called Utopia all in NY. But for some reason all of the transactions besides Target had been credited back to my account. All of these transactions occurred today 2/5/14 from 9am - 2pm. By this time I am livid and call Walmart back for a 3rd time. The operator was a man this time and spoke decent English. I asked him why when I had spoke with the other 2 operators they did NOT inform me of all these other charges. Needless to say he was not helpful just like the others. I then contacted the Target number listed on the scam info, and the Target's where the purchases were made. They were all unsuccessful attempts! No one is willing to help me. I am out a total of $915.68 of my hard-earned money. I have file a report with the Police Department and made a fraud report at FTC.gov.

My Walmart Money Card was compromised Saturday, January 18. I thought that maybe I would be spared from any problems because I normally don't carry a big balance on my card. As it turned out, my husband and I were both paid this past weekend so there was several hundred dollars in the Walmart account.

This is my story. My husband and I were enjoying dinner when we decided to pay for our meal. My husband had used the card around 4:30 p.m. to purchase gas and visited another store. We went to dinner and were leaving around 8 p.m. when the server advised us that our card was declined. To my surprise, I offered my Walmart card thinking that he used the wrong card. NOT! The server looked at both of us as if we were trying to run a scam. My husband showed her the text balance that he had just received before we went to dinner... about 5:30ish.

I just gave her my Wells Fargo card while he called to check the balance on the Walmart card. He asked me about a Home Depot charge. I said we have been together all day... what? Well, there were 4 separate charges made to Home Depot made during the same time he was using the card to purchase the gas! There were two charges for $99.99, one for $51.47, and finally one for $32.74. This brought the account down to $0.

We made it home and called Walmart immediately. I was checking online to see where the transactions had taken place and they were made in Boynton Beach, Florida. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As I was speaking to the "outsourced" customer service department at Walmart, I was told that there was nothing they could do until the charges were actually posted on the account and then we could dispute them. I was further advised until they could complete a ten day investigation my could be returned to my card and that is only if they were finished with the investigation. I advised the "supervisor" that this was a national issue and if she were in the United States she would know what was going on and my funds should be returned to me as soon as possible.

We are a working family and live pay check to pay check... 10 business days will be February 4. I advised the "supervisor" that the charges were made in Florida and she could obviously see that I live in Minnesota. But, she does not work in the US as Walmart outsources their cards. I said, “Lady Minnesota is about 1500 miles away from Florida. I am not trying to scam you I want my money back.” She went on to say that the only way I could get my money is if I contacted Home Depot and have them stop or reverse the charges. It was after 9 p.m. and the department that handled compromised cards was closed.

Sunday morning... I googled the Home Depot and got the telephone number to the store. I advised them that someone had compromised my card and could they please stop and/or reverse the charges as soon as possible. The bookkeeper on the phone said she was not the main bookkeeper and couldn't help me. She said, "Someone would have to call me Monday." Without hesitation, I hung up the phone... highly frustrated and called the Minneapolis Police Department and reported the fraud to FTC.gov. I have no idea what these people know about me. I am at my wits end. I can't get my money back and I am trying to figure out how I can pay my bills.

Monday morning... no call back from Home Depot. Still wondering what Walmart is going to do. So, I called GE Retail Money bank to be told that Walmart handles all of their own issues even though they provide the financial services. No luck, no money, pissed. Oh, I have to mention that Saturday night after speaking with the idiots from Walmart. I called Wells Fargo because I had also used that card and they immediately cancelled my card and put an alert on my checking account. I LOVE THEM! They said that if my account was compromised that I would immediately be reimbursed and my account changed and funded. Got to love the USA.

Tuesday morning... spent over 2 hours on the phone with the Walmart customer service idiots. I advised them that I did not want to speak with anyone else but a US citizen here in the US. I was told I am located in Pasadena. I said tell that crap to someone else lady. If you are in the US, where is Florida located to Minnesota? As she began to advise me that according to the terms and conditions of the card, that they have 10 days to investigate and then I can be conditionally returned my money to my Walmart card.

I said, “Listen lady, I closed the card as soon as I found out that someone was using it so tell me again how are you going to get me my money.” She said we will mail you a check. I said “Check? I HAVE NO MONEY AND MY BILLS NEED TO BE PAID! I am a public service employee and I don't make any money! I have had my card since 2008 and the terms and conditions did NOT STATE 10 DAYS. I READ EVERYTHING! IT SAID ZERO LIABILITY!” She then repeated this section in the terms and conditions over to me and that they could not override the 10 day time frame.

I nice and politely let her know that that was some ** and Walmart is making money off of my circumstances and I planned to blog, Tweet, Facebook, and whatever else I could do to let everyone know that the Walmart money card is horrendous. I promised to write corporate and I plan to boycott Walmart for LIFE! I then was told that I needed to send in a dispute form by fax or email and that I would have an answer on February 4. UNACCEPTABLE! I advised her over and over again. This has taken time from my job, late fees, inconvenienced me, embarrassed me publicly, and now I am broke waiting on a damn check that I will still have to wait 24 hours to clear when I get it. I will have another pay check by February 4th and I am just pissed.

I can't call Target and ask them to give me my money and I can't get my damn money from Walmart. I want to know two things... how could they keep using my card and the exact amount that I had on my card?!!! And why do I have to get penalized for over 2 weeks to get my money back? I will continue to shop at Target because they have been professional about this situation. They still have great products and I love them! I WILL NEVER RETURN TO WALMART EVER AGAIN! They do not care about anything but their profit. GARBAGE!!!! I hope you can get the word out because if you don't use a bank like a local bank or even one as large as Wells Fargo you aren't guaranteed a thing. I read the fine print on the terms and conditions and I had a time frame to send this dispute form in.

I sent them dispute form, police report, and affidavit from the FTC. They still gave me a song and dance as if I was the one to blame. I have also noticed an increase in emails requesting personal information and I have qualified for a mortgage, car loans, and all of the above. I just got my credit back together and now this. I will never be able to get anything on credit. My identity is gone. My credit is riddled with hard inquiries and I don't know what else will show up. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE FROM HELL! Call me if want to know anything else.

So I started a new job last year and decided to try using direct deposit on my money card instead of my checking account. Such a bad idea! First of all, I didn't read the fine print, assuming it was there. You can only withdraw $400 a day. Well, I like to pay all my bills at one time and things like my house note or my children's tuition, charge extra fees for using credit/debit cards so I need to be able to get the cash. But that I wouldn't chalk up to incompetence, just didn't fit my needs.

Allegedly, you are supposed to be able to withdraw money from ATMs at Walmart. Only you get charged a fee for that, too. Then in January 2014, they decided to start playing with my money. My first pay day for the month of January was the 1st. I check my balance, no money. I call and they say they received a late notice from my employer and wouldn't be able to process my paycheck until Jan. 2nd when the banks would be open. What?!

A friend of mine has the same employer and his paycheck was available on Dec. 30. But the killing part is when I checked my transaction record a few days later, they had my direct deposit listed as Dec. 30th. I guess they were holding it for some reason but I don't know what. Then, the day before my next pay date, the 15th, my employer direct deposits a bonus. I wasn't expecting the bonus until the following week so I didn't even realize they had screwed me until I went to my employer's website and saw the check had been deposited. Of course, I call and they have no clue about where my money is and try to blame it on my employer.

I have been putting off switching my direct deposit back to my checking account because you have to physically deliver the change of direct deposit form to HR. But now since I am going to have to miss a day of work anyway to go to my administration building to sign a stop payment on my mysterious disappearing check, I can deliver my change of direct deposit form at the same time. I hope a lawyer is reading this and thinks I have a case. I am losing a day's pay to deal with this foolishness. Not to mention the inconvenience. I am a mother of four and that bonus was already spent. So the delay in clearing this mess up with Walmart card is going to put a strain on my family.

Ok so I started using a Walmart money card for a couple of months because I thought this was a safe and convenient way of paying my bills and other basic uses.... All of a sudden I get moneypak to reload my card when I tried reloading it ..... I got transferred to a customer service rep. They told me they were going to block my card.. also that I couldn't reload no more money and on top of that I couldn't withdraw my money I had left... Besides that they told me I could not get another card with them.. Anyway I asked them why were they doing this but they said they couldn't give me no information and that they cannot pinpoint or explain the reason to this because it was "confidential". I mean this doesn't make any sense to me.. I have the right to know because the money is mine and not theirs.. So after they had said to me that I couldn't withdraw money I went to a Walmart atm and withdrew my money with no problem at all... This means those walmart representatives lied to me..

I've tried various reloadable cards and this Green Dot/WMMC is ridiculous. I had a Green Dot card for a little over a year. I monitor my account very closely. I am still young, so I do not want to go out and apply for a credit card and get caught up with the long term effects of an actual credit card. So, since I do monitor everything I buy, how much I had to begin with, how much I have after the transaction was made, I know exactly how much money I have at all times. I spend quiet a bit of money on small things here and there that add up to be a lot. So through out the night, there would be issues with the system, making my account balance 0.

When the system would be back up, I would be missing around 150 dollars (notice the 150 throughout my complaint). When I would call them, they would take me through "what was on their end" after I would be on the phone with them for 30 minutes to an hour at a time telling them, I made a transaction for 30 dollars and my ending balance was 180 dollars off. They would try and "reassure" me that their site was still messed up and I actually had 150 dollars than I initially thought..... So after almost a year, I slowly buy surely withdrew my money (since you can only withdraw 500 dollars at a time).

I decided to get a WMMC (Wal-Mart Money Card). My fiancee had always had one, gave her no problems, plus it was only 3 dollars to upload money instead of 5 dollars. Everything was working fine for the first few months. Then all of a sudden I noticed whenever I purchased something for around 50 dollars (mainly online to qualify for free shipping) it would always be taken out twice, totaling around 150 dollars each time. Of course, all six times in less than a month that this had happened, it was always the company I had placed the orders with fault.

So I get paid... Direct deposit last month.... It showed my direct deposit for 689.43. However, the way my transactions added up, I was missing just that... 689.43. I talked to everybody at my job, asking if they've had problems with the direct deposit and would you guess?? Nobody had any issues. So I contacted the owner of my company asking for him to check and see that the check was processed through correctly on his side. He actually sat with me, called the bank, checked all of the activity from their end, and would you guess again, everything was perfect on their end. So I again called WMMC and they started to tell me how it wasn't their fault. It was my employer's fault with THEIR transaction... But yet... it shows an upload (which is Direct Deposit) for 689.43. But it didn't go through properly on my job's end??? Then why does it show that is in my account? So three months later, I still have no clue where my $689.43 is. Thank goodness I make way more money than I spend, so I had all 2,800 dollars in bills for that month.

So for the final and last straw. We went to Walmart about a week before Christmas, and I spend $74.34. I get home and I see that I have a double transaction for $74.34. So I called them as soon as they opened the next morning. (Mind you I am very pissed that yet again, around 150 dollars is out of my account, when it should have only been 74 dollars). So of course, it isn't their fault. The company of Walmart along with all 5 companies in the last month, hacked into my account, learned all my information, and made unauthorized transactions. So he ever so politely returned the money back to my account within seconds. He asked me if I wanted to close my card out immediately and get a new one in the mail since my card has been "compromised". I stated no, it was close to Christmas. I still had loads more shopping to do and my card expires at the end of January anyway. So he told, if anything happens again, to call and speak with somebody about freezing the account and waiting to get a new card. So I told him if I had any more issues I would call back, no hesitations. We ended our call and within the week leading up to Christmas I made purchases easy breezy.

So please tell me why last night, I got to order from a site that offered a 24 hour coupon that was 20% to new customers. I get everything I want, I got to check out, and bam!! Declined! So I made sure NOT to submit the order again, instead I checked WMMC.com. In the top corner of my overview page, it tells me how my card has been reported stolen and I have a replacement card that I should have received already and I need to immediately activate it. So I get up, go outside, no card in the mail. Check early the next morning, still no card in the mail. So my fiancee had to call once they opened the second morning because my account information literally no longer existed, and you must provide account information to even speak with a representative.

So I finally get through, speak with 4 different people who tell me the representative I spoke with the week prior to Christmas decided to go back through my account and disable my card because of the unauthorized transaction..... SO! Without me calling and authorizing for him to go back into my account information, he took it upon himself to REMEMBER my information and cancel my card (i.e. report as lost or stolen).

So it's the end of year. I've finally got my bill for property taxes, I have bills due before the 5th of the month.. Oh not to mention I took a week off of work this coming week to buy new paint, carpet, and furniture for my fiancee and my couple's cave. And guess what? I HAVE AN ACCOUNT BALANCE OF ZERO! And all 3 representatives I spoke with and the 1 supervisor I spoke with told me to borrow the money from somebody until I get my replacement card!!! ARE YOU ** KIDDING ME? I have 3,000 dollars in my account. Why would I need to borrow money? Now obviously, I have my fiancee and my mom if I absolutely needed anything... But does he know how it feels to know that I cannot buy a single thing for myself or my family until I get everything fixed from THEIR employees going back into my account a week after the matter had been dealt with?

Oh FYI, if you've had an issue with Walmart Money Card or the GreenDot cards in the past, don't settle for either one.... THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME COMPANY! Yeah, just learned that this morning! I know my complaint is quiet lengthy, however, this company and I have a pretty big past together.

I used the card a few times and my card was blocked where I couldn't load anymore money or have access to the personalized card. I never record my card in the mail. After waiting two weeks I called the customer service. They told me they had been monitoring every transaction. At this point I got very upset because in order to activate the card they ask for all types of personal information. I feel like a prepaid card should not have to be exposed to so much private information. It's almost like the FBI was watching my every move. They ask for way too much private information for such personal and break my rights of freedom and free will to use the card for whatever I want. I suggest anyone using this useless card to rip it to shreds because the card company is monitoring and invading people's private information as well as use of the card and transactions. I've had plenty cards and they do not ask for your social security number, family information. It was almost like some type of martial law that is related to the new world order. Get rid of the Walmart card - they are completely conducting illegal monitoring or our rights and freedoms.

I put $1,000 on 2 prepaid Walmart cards. I bought 2 cards and put $500 on each. I put the money on them, and called and activated both cards yesterday at 3 pm. Today is CHRISTMAS EVE, it's 6 pm. It's supposed to take 10 minutes MAXIMUM for the money to load. It is over 24 hours later and my cards still are not working.

I called and talked to a total of 10 people including 3 supervisors. They are all telling me a different story. I cannot check my balance on either card. I call, put my 16-digit card number in, put the expiration date in, and it tells me there are no cards in their system with those account numbers or expiration dates. For both cards. I go to use a card, and for both cards I get a message, "Your bank has denied this transaction due to insufficient funds."

I spoke to a supervisor last night who told me this is a new batch of cards, and she had several dozens calls about this and I just needed to wait a couple more hours because they were having trouble activating them all in such a short amount of time. Well, I waited 8 more hours. NOW they are saying, "No, they ARE activated," and the message I am getting about my bank denying my transaction due to insufficient funds is not true, and that I am trying to make payments wrong. Then the story was that no, they aren't activated and I need to wait a couple more hour. Then it was that I was trying to set up ongoing payments even though it was CONFIRMED I was trying to make a ONE-TIME PAYMENT and that no, it wasn't denied for insufficient funds, even though that is what the message CLEARLY SAYS, and that no, I'm denied because I am trying to set up ongoing payments on a prepaid card, even though again, it CLEARLY says ONE-TIME PAYMENT.

Then the story was that one of the cards is not working and they could transfer the balance to the other card. Well, when I say that card isn't working either, they tell me I'm doing it wrong on that one. Then they tell me to try to pay online. Well, guess what? The only card that shows up is my OLD card that has NO money on it! Even though I have an email from 3 am stating my card was active and click log in to see my balance.

The supervisors will do NOTHING to help me. They are now telling me, "Oh, it's because they are temporary cards," and that I have to wait TWO WEEKS until the permanent cards come in, and THEN call back and they will fix the issue THEN. So I am apparently out $1,000 and NOBODY will help me or give me the correct information. The Walmart I bought the cards from will not help, because the money is showing up as loaded on the cards and they do not handle anything to do with that at the stores - the HOTLINE or WEBSITE is the only place to go for help. The HOTLINE that is lying to me, or the WEBSITE that only shows my OLD card.

We purchased a MoneyCard for our son to go to summer camp. Thereafter, we attempted to get a refund of the residual money on the card. To do so, we had to activate the card but were unsuccessful in doing so, both on the website and the phone system. It is very difficult to reach a human through the automated phone system. After three calls and selecting various phone options, I stumbled upon a human. I requested that the balance be returned via check. The automated phone message informed me that the call would be recorded for "training and quality assurance" and stated that there would be a service questionnaire at the conclusion of the call. The first person was not able to help.

The supervisor stayed on the phone in a 3-way call while I went through the motions, yet again. The supervisor determined that the birth date was wrong, then requested that I fax a copy of an official picture ID. I was prepared to do so, but she could not provide a fax number to which to send the document. She then had me attempt to activate the card again, this time with the erroneous birth date. The activation worked but she immediately hung-up on me. Who knows whether I'll receive the refund. Apparently, Walmart is neither concerned with using the phone recording for quality assurance nor for feedback surveys. BUYER BEWARE!!!

When I called to check the balance on our Wal-Mart money card MasterCard, I discovered that our account was overdrawn $54.41. I was confused as to how our account was overdrawn when it's supposed to be a pre-paid debit card. So I called customer service and was informed that a transaction had been charged twice and I should contact the business that had started the transaction.

So after speaking with the business, I was advised that I needed to dispute the transaction with Wal-Mart because the two transactions were run under the same approval code and that shouldn't be allowed to happen. I was NEVER at any time made aware that disputing the transaction would immediately flag my account as compromised and that my cards would be reissued. I discovered this to be the case on October 9th.

After checking the balance and realizing that the transaction had been reversed I went to the gas station to put fuel in my vehicle. When I tried my card it was declined. Tried the ATM declined. I called Wal-Mart Customer service to find out that my card had been shut off and my cards were being reissued but not to worry because I would be receiving my new cards no later than October 24th. What am I supposed to do in the meantime?

I spent a week and a half with no food in my house for my children and no gas in my vehicle. I have had to change jobs and am scared to death that the new cards will not arrive so my husband and I will not be able to fuel our vehicles to go to work. I have called the customer service specialist everyday for the past four days...only to be met with false apologizes and to once again be told, "No worries, as soon as the new cards arrive you will be able to access your money."

I even called today to see if I could physically go to a Wal-Mart store and be able to access my money. When I was told that was not an option and I would just have to wait for my new cards which she assured me will arrive by next Thursday, October 24th. These people would be just as upset if they were in our situation so I cannot for the life of me understand why they are so insincere when they are dealing with people in situations caused by their stupidity. Also, there are no prompts saying you can skip the set-up process and talk to a live person since it is a temporary/gift card. The set up took at least 10 minutes the second time I tried and setting it up online did not work. I had to pause my set-up and when I called back, it did not save any of my information so I restarted the process again (adding another 10 minutes). It will ask for your social security number; however, you do not have to give it if you are not planning on reloading the card or using it at the ATM.

In addition, I set the card up on the 16th of the month and at the end of the recording, it stated that starting on the 26th of the month, there would be a $3.00 charge on the card. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I have 10 days (not even since I activated it at night) to make a purchase to before they charge me. If this is a "gift" or a "temporary card" as they stated, why am I being charged? DO NOT BUY THIS CARD FOR A ONE TIME USE OR A GIFT. In addition, I think that there are prepaid cards out there that do not charge a fee (at least not within 10 days of activating the card). Just do your research and good luck!

In the stores, the clerks act like they are doing you a favor to take your money and when you need help finding something, if you can find an employee, half of the time they do not know where it is either.

Walmart and GE Capital, as Discover Card keep hassling me despite the dispute letter I faxed and mailed to them regarding purchases that were defective. The store cannot help because they changed their return policy after I had purchased them last year. I do not think they can sell something, have a stated return policy, and down the road after it shows to be defective not take it back on return. The finance company GE will not coordinate with Walmart on the issue and I am caught in the middle. Both do not care about my business. I am disabled and cannot always spend hours trying to get them to reverse the charge. Walmart has gone down downhill and I think through tweets and Facebook should be boycotted in the way they treat their customers. I wrote them a cease and desist letter but they keep on calling and harassing me.

As usual made a mistake and purchase a Wal-Mart MoneyCard which is the same owners as the Green Dot Card which ripped off my funds last year of over $300.00. This time it was a minimum amount of $30.00. I complete an online transaction with Troy State University and showed an error code. Upon contacting Troy State they assured me that this transaction had been reversed immediately into my account.

Upon contacting Wal-Mart MoneyCard they stated that they couldn't see the reversal and that I would be required to wait until 15 Oct 2013 and this transaction was completed on 4 Oct 2013. Troy State offered to send a fax to the company to verify that this reversal was completed. However, Wal-Mart MoneyCard customer service office stated that they couldn't do this. I would just have to wait until the reversal took its course. I explained that I was on a deadline and had placed the funds on the card just to complete this transaction and needed to get it back in order to meet the deadline. They just said that they were sorry.

I feel that this is so very unfair to the consumer, if I give you my money today and I change my mind it should be refunded the same day or maybe the next day but not two to three weeks later. After all this is a prepaid account which is real time transaction processes. To date I still haven't received the funds. Last time I had to write $300.00 off as lost to the system. Now do I need to write off $30.00? Times are too hard and every nickel count.

I've used just about every prepaid/secured card there is. I'm actually very responsible financially, and I do have a "real" bank account. Though, I mostly use these prepaid debit cards for shopping online for safety purposes (I load only what I plan on spending shopping). So far, Walmart MoneyCard is the worst of them. You can pretty much expect, with any prepaid cards, a service that is mediocre at best.. Walmart MoneyCard is absolute junk though. Hidden fees. Lots of them. Your direct deposit takes absolutely forever to post, if you ever use it for that (most bank direct deposits go through early or at least at midnight on payday. Not Walmart MoneyCard. They can take all day, even if your money was deposited early. They'll hold onto it until they feel like letting you have it).

When you get your first temporary card, it's almost totally useless. You can't use it to get cash back from the register, you can't use it at any ATMs. Meaning, if you need actual cash from your account, too bad. You'll have to wait until you get your permanent card in the mail weeks later (and no, they don't tell you this when you get the card). They freeze up people's accounts all the time for "terrorist prevention safety." Did you order something from eBay? You might be a terrorist as far as they're concerned. They're obsessed with terrorists and freezing accounts for any reason they want. Good luck getting your money back once they freeze the account. Oh, and if you ever should need to talk to customer service, you'd better speak fluent.. I don't even know where the call center is, but you won't be able to understand anything they say, and they won't understand you either.

Anyway I really could go on and on.. Mostly the Walmart MoneyCard is just a bunch of annoyances. NOT worth it. I suggest using any other prepaid card at all. Oh and also, it's not like it's a big deal, but the card itself looks totally embarrassing (if you get it, you'll see what I'm talking about.. hahaha).

I have used a Wal-Mart Money Card for years in order to pay bills or make purchases online. For the most part, I have been satisfied with the function of the card, but have recently encountered an area where the card and the "customer support" behind it has fallen painfully short. My wife is from England. When she came stateside, I got her a Money Card to use for her purchases. She has a bank account back home, and she wanted to use the account and routing information provided on the Money Card website to do a bank transfer and put some cash on her card. She called her bank (Lloyd's) and took care of the transfer from there. The money left her account as well as her bank's fees. The transaction was supposed to take 1-3 business days, and after about a week without seeing the funds on the Money Card, we began to worry.

I called the customer service line twice. Both times, the person I spoke to had such a heavy accent that I could not understand them, and they often misunderstood my questions. Both times, I was told to contact the bank where the money had come from (something called "punting" which is a way to get off of a call when the employee has no answers). Also, both employees told me that the method we used was correct, that these type of transactions happen all of the time without incident, and that the card itself worked like an automated receiver. Well, today we called her bank again who looked at the status of the transaction. It turns out that whatever entity manages the Money Card had rejected the transfer (God knows why) and is in the process of sending it back to the original account after taking $30 of it for a fee (for God knows what).

We have no idea why it was rejected. We were never able to get a customer service rep who could tell us one useful thing or didn't outright misinform us. We have not been told why they took $30 of the money or what we could have done wrong in the whole process. There is no information available online for international bank transfers, not even in the FAQs. We can't have been the only ones who have done this sort of thing, so the lack of information simply reflects a lack of care on their part. Total incompetence. Hope this helps.

I just got paid Friday and deposited most of my check on my Walmart money card. Bought a few groceries with the card, went home and paid my Sprint bill. All was well. The next day on the way to the park, I stopped at the Walmart neighborhood market to pick up some things for the grill. At check out my card was declined. Those Walmart registers don't always work so I just paid cash and was on my way. Once we were at the park and all set up sitting back and relaxing, I thought I would check my account on my phone. After signing in, I saw a balance of zero. I thought what the hell? I checked my transactions and saw the swipe reload, groceries, Sprint and three charges from Target. A 400+ a 300+ and a 100+ adding up to $900.

I immediately called the # on the card and was told if the charges don't post in seven days, they would refund my money. And if they do post, call them right away and they will start an investigation. They said maybe Target will notice the charges are a mistake. A mistake? I don't understand why they can't stop a pending unauthorized transaction. After reading all these stories about purchases at Target in New York, you know damn well that they know that this is an ongoing problem, yet they act surprised. Once they saw those New York charges and saw that that same day I was making charges in California, they should have stepped up and said we know this is a problem and we will get it resolved. But we'll see what happens - I've got a feeling it's not gonna turn out good for me. I'll write a follow up to tell what happened.

On 09-09-2013, I woke up to check my account and the balance was $1.41 and I had just gotten paid the day before. There were 5 purchases from a Target store in New York. I then called them back to dispute these bogus purchases. They said they will dispute them and be credited back to me. Now I am waiting for them to send me a new card so I can get the amount owed to me then I am closing my account. Thanks to all the recent comments. I will not let this happen to me again. I was a Walmart MasterCard customer (until recently). Almost 45 days back, I made a cash payment towards my MasterCard at one of their branch locations. I checked my online account a few days later and it showed "payment received - Thank you" - $250, a week or so later when I checked my online account again, it showed me "Payment reversal - $250". I called customer service and he had no clue to why this happened. He said he will let the supervisor know and ask him to call me with the answer, after noting all my contact information. A few days went by, I still didn't receive any calls from Walmart. Hence I called them back to check, and this time a lady tells me, "If you want to solve your problem, you have to go back to the branch, because it's their problem." I was really frustrated with this answer and their attitude. Now this becomes my problem, not theirs anymore...

Anyways, I drove back to that store which is about 1-hr drive from home, and I met the customer support manager who laughed and said, "How can this be our problem?" She called the customer service number and we had a discussion for a few minutes after which I was asked to fax the receipt to their office. I faxed the receipt to them on the number provided and also attached a strong letter explaining the situation. After about a week, I called back to check, and I was told that they are still waiting for the fax. I was beginning to lose my patience at this time. I asked to speak to the manager, but I was transferred to the supervisor instead. I had a heated conversation with her and I asked to even cancel my credit card. I didn't want anything to do with Walmart ever again. This is like cheating your customers. I re-faxed the receipt and called them to confirm. They received the receipt this time. Someone must have thrown the fax in the garbage last time, as I have the faxed transmission report and receipts which said fax sent - okay.

It's been over 45 days now. I have not received even one call from them, nor the issue has been resolved. I have even received financial charges for the amount I have already paid them. I tried calling them again to check and I get answers like, "We don't know"... I checked with a few friends and they agreed that this might be a common process of cheating people. They too pay cash, but have never checked their accounts. They just keep paying and the amount doesn't seem to reduce.

They said it would be there by a certain date which was August 30th. This was already over a month that I had been waiting for the first one to arrive so now I had to wait for another. Well August 30th came and I never received the card. I called once again letting them know I hadn't received it and that I needed my money now. I told them I wanted to close my account and somehow go to a Wal-Mart store and get my money out or have it transferred to my boyfriend account with a different bank. They said that wasn't possible & I would have to wait another 8 days.

They kept repeating the same thing over to me time and time again & it was so frustrating. I asked to speak with a manager and they told me I would have to wait one day for a call back which I never received until 3 days later. The manager never helped me. All she kept saying was to wait for another card to arrive. Then she was getting angry at me and acting like it was my fault when I gave them the correct address more than 7 times! (Literally). She was rude and DID not care to fix the problem or even seem like she wanted to fix the problem. She only repeated herself just like everybody else there that can barely speak English. They also pronounce your name wrong. When you keep telling them they are saying it wrong they go right back to pronouncing it the way they want.

It's very frustrating trying to get anywhere with these stupid people who steal your money. Now it's been over a month and a week and I still have not received any card or anything! I continue to call everyday and they say my only options are to wait for the card that they keep saying they guarantee will be there in a certain amount of days which never shows up. This is the worst customer service ever. Please save yourself the stress and just get your check checked or deal with your money yourself. Almost all banks just rip you off anyways and try to steal your money. It's sad when you can't even access your own funds with this Walmart money card. There is no way of getting the money out of my account until I receive this card that I'M sure I'LL never receive so basically they stole my money and they think they can get away with it.

Ha! Better think again cause I'M gonna sue them if I don't receive it. Just please take my word and don't go to them. I am normally such a patient person and understand mistakes happen and things go wrong and what not but this is just ridiculous! I can't even describe how much stress they have put me through and now I can't even pay my bills because of them but they could care less. Well God bless all and take my word for it. It gets better, though; Target will not give my money back because he got away with their merchandise. When I called Walmart, I explained to them that the money on that card was all I had for another month. I asked them if they could give me a voucher for food, or drinks. They said NO! THIS IS NOT RIGHT!! I was told that Target has the man who did this to me on video surveillance. If that is true, then why haven't I gotten my money back? Why am I suffering when it is more than evident that I didn't do this? I have NOTHING, thanks to this man, and Walmart for allowing this to happen. So now, I do what? I've had a MoneyCard for at least 4 years. I have been consistently swindled and outright lied to about this card and today is the final time. I typically use this card to take care of bills (at least the ones that qualify) or to make online purchases. I had a pressing $300 payment which needed to be made. I left my house at 4am to upload my MoneyCard at a Walmart store. Gladly they took my funds. When I returned home I immediately went online to make my payment.

At this point I realized that my MoneyCard had expired 07/2013, about two weeks ago. I never received a card or notice and I rarely use the card enough to be conscious of the expiration date. I called the customer help desk to inform them that my card had expired, I wasn't given notice or a new card, and that I had a pressing payment due. After being told that they could not provide me with any information to allow me to complete my payment, I was informed that it would take 7-10 days to obtain a card or 3-5 days with a $20 dollar charge.

My first problem with this is that it clearly states on the money card policy and procedures that "Once your Card has expired for ANY reason, it cannot be renewed or reloaded." Apparently that is not the case because I was able to place money on the card without hesitation and because the company didn't follow their own stated policy and procedure I am out of $300 for 7-10 days. Not to mention that I have a pressing payment to make. When I asked what could be done, I was told nothing. I went back to the store to ask for a refund and told them the whole situation and was told deposits are non-refundable. So apparently policies and procedures are flexible when it comes to taking my money but are strictly followed when it comes to giving me my money.

I went back home and called "customer service" again, this time I asked to speak to a supervisor. After waiting for 8 minutes I was told that no supervisor was available and the wait time was 3 minutes or they could call me back, this was at 8am. 3 hours later I decided to call back. Again, I explained the situation and told the specialist that I desperately needed access to those funds now and I shouldn't be punished for them not following their stated policy. I was given the same runaround and I was forwarded to a Supervisor, of course nobody was available. She asked me if I wanted a call back, I said yes, gave her my number, and then was told that my call back would be within 24 hours.

This is just one of my many ordeals with Walmart MoneyCard over the last several years. They should make clear the many limitations and excessive fees on the card, have an ability to adjudicate customer complaints, or stop providing the predatory service all together. The ability to access your hard earned funds should be just as easy as it is to deposit them. Once I receive my money and pay Walmart their ridiculous fees, I will close this account and will never use a Walmart service or shop their retail ever again. If they don't value my time or money, why should I support them? I'd rather take the risk of someone taking my identity than to consistently face these issues each time I need to use this card. The consumer has no recourse and the staff has no desire or ability to address your concerns.

I want to let everyone know, that regardless of your credit score or whatever, you can still get access to a bank account in most instances. You don't have to use these prepaid card schemes for direct deposit. I only recommended them for security in regards to identity theft, but at this point and according to all these other complaints, they aren't even good for that. Walmart takes your money when you deposit funds and then charges you each month to park your funds there. They offer no benefits, no protection, no interest, does not reflect on your credit score, has many limitations, has poor customer service, and often results in more headaches than not. So what are we paying for?

These guys are the debit card version of a payday lender but worse; they're lending you your own money at high fees with all of the dysfunction I stated above. They have no obligation, or at least no interest, in taking the time to address your complaints or concerns, even when they're in the wrong. Because they know the consumer has no recourse.

I called to report this identity theft. I was panicked because direct deposit was three days away, and my full check might have been at risk. I was assured once the charges cleared that I could call back to be compensated. That's all. I did so, to be told I would have to visit the website and print a form and fax it to them. I was starting to get agitated. I started jumping through hoops. The website is terrible - not at all user-friendly. I finally spoke to someone who was empowered to reverse the charges.

Three months later, I wake up to find it has happened again. This time, criminals have purchased $500.00 worth of motel rooms in the Dominican Republic. I called again and was given the same story. I asked for a supervisor, who told me she understood what it meant that my rent would go unpaid and my children would go hungry, and was I interested in taking a survey?

Suffice it to say, I will no longer do business with this company. They have tons of restrictions for me to access my money, yet any criminal with a computer has total access. I have never made an international purchase, and when I asked about protections, there is nothing the company will do. I am so mad at a company that refuses to help or protect its customers that I feel compelled to speak out. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

I purchased a Walmart money card. They are supposed to be easy, convenient, and you control your spending. I went home and activated it, and was told that I would not be getting a permanent card. I was told that the information that I entered didn't match their National Database. I already had a money card with Walmart. It was about to expire, and they didn't send me out a new one. So I got this new card where I purchased my previous one.

Anyway, I was told to spend the money I had loaded onto the temporary card. They stated that was my only alternative. So that's fine. I used the temporary card to make a purchase, and about a week later, I called to check my balance. My call was turned over to a so-called customer specialist (a very rude person). I was told that this card was not activated with my name and address on it. It had a different name (a man's name). I was told when I had the person who the card belongs to call them back. At this point I was furious, because I WAS THE PERSON WHO REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED THE CARD. The woman on the phone asked for my card number again, and said that their systems still must be updating because now it shows my name as a person connected with the card. But the man that called in earlier about the card reported questionable activity with the card. Only I had access to my card, not any man. So the temporary card was put under investigation and a block placed on the card.

After asking to speak to someone who could help me resolve this matter, she began to tell me that she would go ahead and remove the block, but I would never be able to purchase a Walmart money card again. This is outrageous. Walmart should notice all the complaints and start looking into it. I would hope this company is not so big that they don't care if customers are being ripped-off by their money center. They really need to look into employee activity, here in America and other countries where employees have access to personal information, accounts, and Walmart's computer system. If they monitor their books and the drop-in customers purchasing these cards, then they will see some problems there. I hope this is done before it gets too out of hand.

For over a year, I always had trouble logging in to check my balance and always have to do it 4 or 5 times. I answered all the questions and still keep getting hassled. When my Bf would put money on it, it would take him up to an hour to do so. It shouldn't be this much problem to log in with the right info. Also it also seemed money would be missing. So I will be dropping them because I think I've put up with enough hassle with it. No one should have to go through that just to check their balance or have money added.

Also, the other thing I could never pay for my gas at the pump; it always said the card was declined. There are times I don't want to go in & prepay. It's not a good thing if you're traveling late at night & need gas. You cannot pay at the pump and people get screwed. I will never ever get 1 of their cards again. One last thing, you go to their ATM & they charge you for using their card. What a crock. I'm really dissatisfied with their card. Talk about greedy people.

I have been utterly confused when paying my Walmart credit card, and finally discovered that if you did not pay them within their set billing period, or paid them twice, trying to get ahead, they would not credit your account with a payment, only with a reduction of the balance. So, for example, I wanted to get ahead on my payments so that I could go away on a trip and not worry about it. Well, that was a mistake. I paid $150 in November after the due date by a few days in order to cover December, but they only credited my balance and refused to put the money towards the December payment.

Every other credit card I have would understand that was a December payment. But Walmart doesn't want to understand that, as they can charge a late fee if they simply refuse to credit the next month. I returned home to a thirty-day late notice and a late fee, which I protested and was able to have removed. But make no mistake; this is as much of a scam as a bank putting a check in before they put a deposit in so they can charge you a bounced check fee.

Walmart is either one of the largest or the largest corporation on this planet, and you cannot tell me that they could not conform to the norm if they wanted to. The fact is, they are simply trying to find another way to rip us off. And because I did not understand well enough what their magical and arbitrary period in which they would accept payments was, this happened to me again, when I tried to pay ahead in preparation for another trip. Honestly, this is patently ridiculous. I paid them $500 that time, expecting that it would cover a $75 payment, and they again simply credited my balance, but refused to apply the payment.

Then, to add insult to injury, they lowered my credit limit because their trumped up paperwork showed that I had two thirty-day late payments within a six-month period. Honestly, they took a satisfied customer and made her into an enemy who will tell anyone and everyone I deal with to avoid obtaining credit through Walmart. They certainly work hard to create their bad press.

My sister puts all her disability check on the money card (no banks near her). Recently, it was hacked and her last $500 was taken. Wal-Mart does not replace the money even though they agree it was a fraud. It's your money not theirs and they don't care. She is alone in NM with no fuel to cook or heat for her trailer and no gas. What kind of a deal is this?

The ATM at my local Walmart has been out of order for months. That's the only way I don't have to pay a withdraw fee. So for months, I've had to pay $5 every time I withdraw money from another ATM.

On March 19, 2013 I made a payment to my Walmart credit account in the amount of $57.00. My checking account was charged twice for this amount. On March 19, 2013 I contacted Walmart's customer service department and I was informed that one of the charges should drop off of my account within 48 hours. When one of the charges did not drop off of my account, I contacted them once again on March 21, 2013. I was told I would be issued a refund check because they could not refund my account automatically and it would be delivered within 7-10 business days. I never received a check.

Exactly two weeks later, on April 4, 2013, I contacted them to follow-up on the status of my check. I was told it was not sent out until April 2, 2013 and I would receive it in 7-10 business days. The call was disconnected. I called back and a different employee told me I should receive it in 5-7 business days. Walmart is unlawfully withholding funds that are rightfully mine and I would like to take them to court for civil charges. This is unfair for a big business like this to take advantage of its consumers.

Walmart Money Card has many security breaches. If you are robbed and have all your identity, thieves can easily get a new pin and steal your money. If you are left stranded as I was or aren't aware your information is missing, your pin can be changed and your account emptied because they fail to require identification for large merchandise purchases. They will not attempt to review the video of the illegal transaction and an obvious unauthorized use of the card. They just tell you the transactions were authorized. There are many better cards that make you answer security questions before issuing a new pin. I urge you to check their security before using them. You'll be at risk if you don't.

I went to the bank this morning to withdraw money from my account and wasn’t able to get my money out. It said I had insufficient funds. I had no auto pay coming out of my account. When I check my account online, I have seen some charges that I didn’t do. When I called and spoke to someone, they told me the charges were from Mexico. I don’t know anyone in Mexico nor have I ever bought anything from Mexico. They told me there was nothing they could do for me. The charges were still pending and they wouldn’t cancel the charges. I will never use Walmart money card again. I think they give our info out to these people. How else would they get it? Walmart is so un-American to have people from another country handle our concerns with no resolution. I have my paychecks deposited to this card and the money they took from it was the money I used to pay bills and they are saying that there’s nothing they can do about it.

I wrote a review earlier and now, I have more to add to this. I never did get my permanent card, but since I needed one and since they told me that if I get another new one, then I could use it. This time, instead of going to my local Wal-Mart store, I ordered one online so I wouldn't have to spend another $3 purchasing another card. So I got my card in the mail and it's a permanent card with my name on it. I tried to activate it online and couldn't. I had to call the activation number. I did and they couldn't activate it and gave me another number to call (all of this was automated). After going around and around in their automated service and being disconnected over and over, out of frustration I punched a bunch of random numbers into the system and got a real person who told me that the card had a block on it. They transferred me to yet another department where the automated system said I had a 20-minute wait. That 20-minute wait lasted for a little over an hour!

When their administrator finally got on the phone with me, I was told that the card could not be activated and when I asked why, she said that the card had suspicious activity. I asked her what activity. The card had not been used or activated! She would not explain but said that not only would the card never be activated, but that I could never have a Wal-Mart money card! Never! She was rude and I never got an explanation on what the suspicious activity was! Now, I cannot purchase the item I need from the net nor can I sell on eBay because I cannot get verified because of Wal-Mart money card. This has taken money out of my pocket! Yes, please let an attorney contact me! Absolutely!

I obtained a Walmart credit card several years ago to take advantage of the interest-free purchases of large ticket items. Most items (phones, TVs, security cameras) were with 12 months no interest. I usually pay them off within 6 months. With almost every statement I received, I was charged interest and had to call Customer Service to have the interest removed. In 2012, my checkbook that also contained my Walmart credit card was stolen. I called and reported the theft but over $1,400 had been charged at the local store in Eden, NC. They have cameras but obviously cannot determine who used the card or why no identification was required.

I was contacted by the Fraud Department and advised to do nothing until they had investigated. The next month, a Walmart representative contacted me about my past due balance. The balance before the card was stolen was approximately $160. She advised that $98 was past due. I explained that even though my minimum payment was only $25 and it had not been 4 months since the last payment and the instructions from the Fraud Department was not to do anything but to guard my credit, which she threatened, I made the payment.

I received a letter from the Fraud Department that all charges had been credited so I assumed all was okay. Then I received a statement, which I had not received for 6 months, that my balance was over $220. I called the credit department to inquire why. They advised that there were late charges and interest accrued. When I objected, the lady told me that if I did not pay today, she would turn this over to a collection agency. I asked for the number of someone else to protest this, but they gave the same 800 number with automated voice that won't let you speak to a person. I finally sent an email to customer service which responded with the same 800 number. I responded that the number was no good.

I finally spoke with a person who was as helpful as the first lady. Her name was Tracey. She removed one late charge but told me that if I did not set up a payment plan, I would go to collections. I told her I would pay the balance and to please close my account. I feel I was abused and will never use the company again. They will drive people back to Kmart.
