I win $5. Walmart gift cards as bingo prizes where I live. Occasionally there is a problem at the store when using theses. Usually when there is a problem, the manager can input the serial number or override the problem. Overall, I do love getting them.

Free money transfer to out-of-town recipient with cash deposit (a con is that this type of deposit can only be made at Walmart’s with Money Center services), affordable fees and charges, Instant transaction reporting, very effective phone app, easy access, Informative transaction journal, user settings are not difficult to understand or set.

It's an easy card to purchase if you dont want to deal with banks. It has all the same options as an account. I've had mine for several years and it's in my wallet whenever I need it. I just go to Walmart and load what I need on it and it's a average debit card. No min deposit or cancelation. It's ready when you are. Plus you can have your check deposited to the card every payday, not to mention irs... Any funds can be deposited.

It’s the easiest card to use even better than Visa or Amex!! No issues to reload and one simple activation process. The only card I give as gifts as well. You’re able to use anywhere and always check your balance which is an easy process with the app on your phone.

I've never had a problem with the WMC when I first got it (over 5 years ago), but lately they have severely gone downhill. It appears that they will post your DD whenever they feel like it, and not when they are supposed to (or say they are supposed to). I have rent and bills come off my card, and when my paycheck doesn't post when it should, I get calls and emails about eviction and disconnects. They do not care, it's almost like they have fun with this! I'm done dealing with them, and am closing my account ASAP and moving on to a place that treats their account holders with some respect. And in the end, I don't care if they hit me with fees (which they will). It's a small price knowing I won't have to deal with them again.

I have never had a problem with this card. Since I shop at Walmart for most of my groceries it was my go-to card. In fact if it weren't that I get cashback on my Discover and Chase cards I would still be using it.

I’ve used this card a few times. It’s been one of the best! It’s the one I go to if I choose to buy a prepaid card. Usually for birthdays for family and friends. I refill the ones that I’ve been given and give them to others as gifts too!

The Walmart gift card just doesn't work. You need to know the EXACT balance on the card in order to use it: by the penny. Walmart employees cannot look up the balance for you. The only option to obtain the balance is to call the automated system. The gift card doesn't work on the card scanner so you have to manually enter it on the screen.

Card works good as a gift. As far as I know you can only use it at Walmart. Have not purchased a Walmart gift card so I do not know about the cost. All returns at Walmart all they give you is a card for that store.

We purchased a Walmart prepaid card for our daughter when she went off to college as there was a walmart in the area and we thought it would work for her food, supplies and they had an auto center there. We had no issues with the card and she used it the entire four years. She did use the ATM option and fees did apply but it came in handy.

These cards are ok but it's easier in my situation just to pay with my regular debit card or credit card to keep my credit good. But for those who don't have bank accounts these cards can be very helpful.

A: Walmart Money Card
A: It should be easier to load funds to the card. In store cash loads shouldn’t be the only way. You should be able to send money from another credit or debit card. I personally haven’t been too inconvenienced by this, but see where it can be a headache

This card gets an A+ in my book. Not only are you managing your wallet but you can add up to 4 family members on as well. The card also pays 2 percent cashback. It's great to show your kids how to spend and save. You can track what and how your family is spending. The Walmart Money Card also has an app for ages 13 and up. It teaches responsibility for your teens to learn now so they know how to be responsible as adults. All around you can't go wrong with this card and it's reloadable. I recommend this card for the whole family.

This card was not just a reloadable card but in facts makes you open up an account with your social security number in order for you to spend the money you already loaded onto it. Hate it, this was not what I was looking for in a reloadable card.

I have purchased used the Walmart prepaid card on several occasions. I have also purchased them for others as gifts in the past. Once the card was loaded, I used it wherever credit cards were accepted. There were no limits to its usage. The fees were rather high, but I guess that’s just a part of the business.

Walmart cards aren't too bad, but there are times that the cards don't get activated right due to lack of training or just inept employees. Not a huge fan of Walmart as a rule, but the cards make purchases easy for kid's birthday or Xmas gifts.

I have used my Walmart money card for over 6 years. I loved that I was able to customize my card with a baby picture of my son. My bank wouldn't give me a debit card so this was my best option at the time. I kept the card because I had the numbers memorized which was great. Then one day, I used my card to help my son purchase some car parts. He returned them and the store wasn't able to split the return onto two cards so I had it all put on mine. Well wrong choice coz Walmart put a block on my card so not only do I have access to the $522 refund, I don't have access to my money that was already on there. I've sent in all the documents/receipts they have asked for. They keep saying it will take 2 business days to verify. It's been 10 days!! I've called so many times and can't get anyone on the phone that knows what's going on. I've been told 3 times a supervisor would call me back, but they never do!
Once my card is unlocked, I am pulling all of my money... IF I ever get my $1100 back!!! I am so frustrated that I can't talk to anyone. They say you can email and chat in their site. Nope, there isn't an email listed and the chat only has like 10 pre-printed sentences for you to choose from... you aren't able to write your own question. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau today. We'll see if that does any good! I'm also calling the attorney general tomorrow because this is beyond ridiculous! I just want MY money back!! Worst customer service ever!

I purchased this Walmart visa card at a Walmart store 12 days ago, I registered it the same day it was purchased and I was told it will be under review for two days. Since then I called customer service back and forth maybe 15 times but I was told they cannot access my personal information and to try to register again. Either with my laptop or phone app. After 10 attempts to register my card the answer was the same. "The card will be under review for two days." I spoke over the phone with representatives of Green Dot Bank technical support and sent copies of my card front and back, copies of my registration application and the review note produce after registration. They claimed it seems to be a mistake in my application and it will be processed and corrected in two days (that was 4 days ago).
I called to check the status and I was informed that seems to be a problem with the info I provided but wasn't informed what was the mistake. They said it will be a check mail to me in two weeks and let me wondering what kind of company is this? The customer service is horrible and they lack access to your personal information, there's nobody that can access such information and make any correction required. They hold your cash deposit for 12 days then tell you that it will refund your money in two more weeks.

I have had the Walmart Money Card for a few years and have had government money direct deposited into my card. For around the last 3 months every time I call the number on the back of my card I get a message after the English and Spanish message of welcome to walmart money card. Then it goes on to say "we are unable to assist you at this time" and it then says something about please refer to or website or app for account info and then it hangs up on me. If I call from a different phone I get through to customer service. I tell them about problem and they say that it is my cell phone carrier with the problem. Well now a couple of the other phones with different carriers that I called from before now gets the same message that I get every time I try to call.
My mom has the same cell service as me and has a card also where we can send money to each other and she gets through every time. So it can't be cell provider that has problem as now multiple cell companies that phone I used does the same thing as mine does. No matter what time of day you call. They refuse to look into the matter. This happens on the number on back of card 1-877-937-4098 and it also happens when I try to call Greendot's # 1-866-795-7597. Like I said I can call with a new cell and it goes through every time and asks me for my card info and then lets me speak with someone. But once again they refuse to try and look into the problem to fix it. They all just say it is my cell provider that has the problem not them.
Next I get 2 different government deposits. 1 for veterans pension and the second for SSDI (social security disability insurance). For years I have mostly got my deposit 4 days early like they say you will for government direct deposits (there has been a couple times I got it on the day of). Well I got an email from walmart money card that said my direct deposit is processing from the veterans' part of my money and it said it will be released on Friday July 31, 2020. I received this email on July 27, 2020. They say they release it and normally do when they receive the notification around 4 days earlier than when you suppose to get paid from the government. Well I still haven't received it in my account even though they already got the notification from the government.
When I called from another phone and got a hold of money card customer service they told me they don't see no pending deposit info and so I must of got email from the VA and not from them. It says walmart money card in the email sent from name. Money card customer service said well wait you will probably get it on 31st like it said. The 31st is the day that a regular bank would normally release it as the 1st is Saturday. So what happened to 4 days early for government direct deposits.
If for some reason I need to get ahold of customer service and I run out of different numbers to call from what happens if my card stops working or I got dispute or whatever. I won't be able to. Also they say I can chat with a representative on the walmart money card website or the app. The app does not give me an option at all and the website has a fact and question section and only allows me to select a question topic that is pre-wrote then it gives me answer or other selection topics to select. But it never gives me an option to chat with someone.
It does say if I have any further questions not answered under there facts and questions area to call the number on back of card (which that is initial problem, so the number refers you to app and website and website refers you to call number on back of card) and one of the pop up under the website question and facts sections refers me to go to the gobank website. Which won't let me do anything unless I have a gobank account and card (the walmart moneycard website refers you to the gobank site). So it just tells me to go back and forth but never actually lets me chat or talk to no one.
I can't even check my balance if I wanted to call number on back of card if for some reason I was in a area that data/internet was not available so app won't work. As it hangs up every time after saying there unable to assist me and to go to app or website, even if I press any number or symbol during that brief message before hanging up. It still hangs up and never gives me option to press any # for balance, dispute, and so on..
Let's see if walmart money card contacts me or will it just post that it tried to contact me with the number on file but was unable to so I need to call in. I know for a fact that my #, email, and address is all verified and work perfectly fine. And I would have to say that most of the other complaints on this sites info more than likely is correct and not wrong like they say. So I hope they contact me and finally fix my problems and maybe show me real customer service instead of the hang up and rude representatives that I've spoke with on different phones about my account.

I have had this card for 5 yrs plus. Someone went into my account & sent them money from vault acct. I didn't know anything about it until I noticed that money was in my regular account that I didn't authorize out of my vault. Two different emails went into my account & got total $770. Walmart declined the $230 that they tried to get. I notified Walmart Moneycard & told them of the unusual activity & they told me not to worry & that I will get my money back, also they will send me the rest of my money in a check which is estimated abt $4200.
Well I sent the information that they needed & it's now July 13. 2020, NO CHECK! Also they contact with a letter saying no error has occurred & they can't give me the $770 & let me remind you no check of my other Funds. I been calling almost everyday & all they want to tell me is I will get a call back. This company has no way for you to talk to no one DIRECTLY about your money. BE AWARE OF WHERE YOU PUT YOUR MONEY PEOPLE! I never would have thought a Walmart moneycard will do this in this matter. The only way of reaching out to them is EMAIL & post box in Pasadena, California. I feel like Walmart moneycard stole from me as well. Your MONEY IS NOT PROTECT! PLEASE BE CAREFUL....

I received an automated system stating that I was no longer eligible for their services. I tried to call and talk to someone but I only get as far as the automated system telling me that my account is closed and that I'm no longer eligible for their services. I've tried calling them, I can't get through, I've tried emailing, them, no response, I found them on Facebook and messaged them asking that someone would please call me, nobody did and I've written them and mailed it to them, I didn't get a response doing that either. I have had my Walmart Money Card about 8 months. I load it for backup expenses and I have a contract business so I typically use the card for hotel stay and food etc. I had a hotel that ripped me off for over $3000. I filed a dispute on May 4, 2020 and by May 18, 2020 I received my provisional credit for the full amounts disputed.
During these Covid times our business became none existent and the return of these funds was a great blessing. According to the Cardholder Agreement after 10 business days it states, if more time is needed to investigate WE WILL issue a provisional credit. They did. When I received those credits I covered bills, and rent. I need to pull funds off my card. I went to the ATM got $400.00 off my card. The withdrawal plus fee was $402.75. Not knowing how much I can withdraw a day I went back to get an additional $400.00. It stated Unable to Complete Transaction, please contact issuing Bank. I tried again, same thing. Then I tried some smaller amounts, and that didn't work. I go to a Chase and try $500 and it worked fine.
I look the next day and notice that it counted me for 2 of the withdrawals that dispensed no cash. Totaling $805.50. I filed a dispute. 10 business days roll by and I ask about my credit, they tell me first I got the credit, I said no I got credit for a previous dispute. They tell me to wait, after being rude and getting hung up on and having to call 10 times because the home based communication system are not very good.
June 9th I notice that the issued a credit on June 7th 2020 and took it back. Informing me that they were extending it 45 days but NOT issuing a provisional credit with NO explanation other than, you arent getting a credit. Ask to speak to a supervisor, days later they call tell me the matter has been closed and my account will be credited. However it was for the $3000 from the May 4 2020 dispute and that I will not be getting a provisional credit.
Now I followed their process, I was found to be right under their rules and that was great. However no one would explain to me, why they issued a credit on the two ATM transactions and then took it back on and dispute that was extended. If we decide to extend 45 calendar day, WE WILL provide you with a provisional credit.
Dispute is still open, and the closest I have gotten to a very bad answer to my question is that, they were maneuvering to have the merchant cardtronnics be the ones to return the money so they took my credit back. Now that may be all well and good but the internal maneuvering of what takes place to get to a resolution, has nothing to do with what I as a consumer expects based on the rules and procedures you put in black and white ink that states the credit will be given. So I am due my provisional credit until the resolution is determined. Why do I have have to be the one who is in limbo on something in which clearly states a provisional credit will be given?? This is a breach of your own process! It's also a violation of the terms you set!! I'm furious at this!!

No problems. Received his first direct deposit. STILL went thru and zero problems..Day or two later he tried logging into his side of the account and it kept saying it was blocked pending further review...Didn't receive a single notification of this happening in email or otherwise...
Called the number on the back of his card and they said they just needed to verify he was who he said he was and to send a copy of the front and back of his government issued ID, to a certain email address with a numbered code in the subject line and was told and verified several times that it would take 24-48 hours to review and after the 24-48 hours it would be resolved if he sent what was required. He did. It has now been going on 3 weeks since he did that, we have BOTH tried numerous times to get a response from ANYONE on this matter and haven't received a single Correspondence since his "confirmation email" stating they received his ID email... There's now over $8,000 dollars in his account and his weekly direct deposit for the last couple weeks is not reflecting on his account. That STILL states "close pending further review".
We have ALL struggled during this hard time so it's especially frustrating to know he FINALLY received what he's been due and CANNOT access his money to pay bills and take care of our babies, I also know it's 100% illegal to restrict someone from accessing their own money without notice (which we STILL NEVER received) and especially to do it for this long even AFTER doing as he was told by sending his VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID especially after being told as long as he did that they would ONLY take 24-48 hours to review and resolve this matter after he did so..!! Going to be speaking to a lawyer today so he can hopefully get his STOLEN money back..!!

I explained to the agent that I would NOT like to dispute the claim at the moment because I had money in there and was still getting money on my card and I will dispute once I pull all my money out from my current card.

It worked fine until 3 month ago, I was getting my SSA deposited on this card but started to have problems in Feb, could not use online payment, and now the stimulus payments are being held for no reason, customer service is a joke most cannot speak English and incompetent, if you're getting government benefits on this card change it before the fifteenth of this month or you may not get a SSA/SSDI check, and your stimulus payment may be stolen.

Never again I deal with walmart or Green Dot. They take your money without you knowing it. Also they dont answer the phone.

2 reviews. 11 minutes ago. I sent my sister money as a gift for Mother’s Day the day before to make sure she got a gift on time so I used MoneyGram thinking it was safe, fast & secure. I sent her the confirmation number. She ended up going on Mother’s Day to pick it up and do some shopping... Well, she dealt with PAM thinking she was just there to pick up the money, this lady gave her attitude and told her she didn’t get any money and couldn’t help her but could give her a reason why, I called thinking she’d be more helpful since I’m a customer service rep and know how to handle the issue, I asked for her name once, she ignored me, second time she HUNG UP ON ME mid sentence!!!
I have never had someone just hang up on me so so called back and she told me, "YOU HAVE TO CALL AGAIN," which was 3 times already and Money gram saw no issues so money gram asked if rep could just call to see what error message they were getting, PAM refused. Said she don’t need to be calling anyone and for me to call again (4 times) and my sister HAD to go back after 3 times.
Needless to say my sister will NEVER go back to the store again I was told she could go to CVS by the rep on the phone. I have used this service before without any issues. I wish you had CUSTOMER SERVICE without all the attitude, I wasn’t asking her for anything other than what the issue was but she raised her voice at us both and had the worst attitude. I know NOTHING will be fine about it but I’m upset & disappointed we had to go through all this for $100!!!
As a customer service representative, I know how to treat a customer or just humans in general and I don’t appreciate someone raising their voice at me or giving me such nasty attitude, I never complain about anything but this was definitely a horrible experience for the both of us, spending the whole day (Mother’s Day) dealing with such drama. I hope someone talks to PAM and let her know this is unacceptable behavior. I hope someone would contact me about this issue but I doubt it. SAD DAY FOR US ALL. Happy Mother’s Day to my sister. I’m sorry we didn’t get your money today.??? Thank You. Nellie **

My husband has had the Walmart Money Card for years and never had problems with it until March 2020. If only we can give this card a negative 5 stars. His account was hacked and someone took over $570 through an ATM machine. He disputed by providing all the evidence that he wasn’t the one that took the money out that day. He was at work all day in San Diego and the transaction was done in Los Angeles. He provided them a GPS tracker from when he clock in and out of work that day. He disputed it twice and was DENIED. They said, "Based on your transaction history we didn’t find any error." Of course there’s going to be an ATM withdrawals transaction on his card. It’s a prepaid card. But if they look at his history not once he uses Chase to withdraw money out.
In addition the person did a transaction to review his balance. Why would he do that when he has the application? Anyhow, if you can stay away and find another prepaid card please do so. Our hard working money gone easily and they can’t do their job properly to protect their customers. Especially during this pandemic. Every penny counts. So stay away from this company unless you’re fine with your money being taken away easily.

On May 2 I saw a laptop on sale online at Office Depot. It said there was one left so I made purchase. The money was removed from account. I went to pick it up, and they said they made a mistake and didn't have it. So transaction was cancelled, and the charge is just been showing pending, pending, pending. It is now end of day May 7. I called Walmart money card customer service and was told it will be 15 days before money is credited back to my account. That is ridiculous. Once my money is returned I am taking every dime of and finding a different company.

I recently purchased a trip through Bookit.com for June 2-7, and on March 17th Bookit canceled my trip and advised they would be be issuing a refund and I needed to contact my Issuing Bank. I have called Green Dot Bank several times to dispute my charges as service not rendered, only for Green Dot advise there is nothing they can do and I need to contact the merchant. Well, the merchant has disconnected their phone and email and there is no way to get ahold of them.
Green Dot has provided the worst cardholder experience ever as I have seen other prepaid Issuing Banks refund their cardholders due to Bookit canceling their trip. As a cardholder I'm very frustrated that my Issuing Bank (Green Dot) is not willing to help when I paid the merchant for a service that will not rendered as and Green Dot will not file the dispute. If anyone is looking for a reloadable prepaid I would not recommend Walmart Money Card through Green Dot as they will allow merchants to mistreat cardholders. Run fast from this card as they do not support their cardholders.

On April 16, 2020 I placed an order for disposable facemasks and received notice they would be shipped from the vendor (Mancro) and arrive on April 23. On April 26, 2020, I checked shipping date and it said the order was delayed. I checked again in a couple of delays and it said order was delayed again "lost in shipment" and I would receive a refund. Walmart has not responded to my request other than to forward my complaints to the vendor who hasn't responded even after a couple of attempts to contact them.
I checked on the internet and found similar complaints about Walmart and this vendor. On April 28 I contacted the credit card company to dispute the charges, that showed up the day after I placed the order. I checked the Walmart site today (5-1-20) and noticed this vendor is not even listed as a supplier anymore yet Walmart still has not acknowledged my complaint or notified me of a refund. Walmart now requires all employees to wear masks - - if they can get masks for employees how come they couldn't fill orders of paying customers? I found the disposable masks from another provider at a much lower cost and they were delivered within a few days. My suggestion, don't use Walmart for anything that you can't actually see with your own eyes on the shelf.

Last week WalMart was advertising getting the stimulus payments on your money card. So since I get my regular paycheck this way I went on to get my direct deposit information. The App and website were both down. I called the number on the back of the card (877)-937-4098 and its like it is disconnected. I was able to call walmart who patched me through to green dot but they refused to give me my direct deposit information. I was then able to get my information through my employer. I entered it on the portal at the IRS and was all set. I then got a date from the IRS of 4/30/2020 with my money card account listed. I thought I was all set.
On the 29th a rep from Green Dot contacted me because of my complaint through the BBB. She assured me that the problem with the customer service number was fixed and I even have proof that she told me that in their response to the BBB. The 30th comes and no deposit from the IRS so I try to call customer service again and the same thing. It's like the number is disconnected. So I call the number back that they called from yesterday and am able to press 2 for the moneycard. The rep tells me that I have to wait a week for the deposit to be credited but as of now he can't see anything. I asked him if it could have been denied and sent back and he said no that it is showing no direct deposit attempt. I then asked him about the customer service number and he said that wasn't even their number. Wait, what it's on the back of my card???
I've been using this card for a few years now and when I have to call for help it's always a problem getting someone to help. The reps are rude and don't speak english well at all. Today I spoke with Edward (with a very strong Indian accent) who refused to identify himself further by a last name or employee ID number. I haven't had any issues with being locked out like others have but I see that coming as retaliation for reporting them so I think it's time to remove my money and close the account. As far as the stimulus check that the IRS says it put on my card this morning I'm still waiting on a phone call from a supervisor that I will receive in 4 hours, what a joke. I don’t depend on government assistance nor do I get help in any way to raise my kids. So that 10 days was so hard on me! This has happened more than once.
This card is not accepted everywhere. I tried paying for groceries and it was declined because the type of card was not accepted. My account was recently forced to close! No reason why! No option on their supposed number they claim to call for help! They shut you out completely with no one for you to talk to but a computer dial tone!!! It’s hard to get to a store because of the coronavirus and I again have 3 kids so I take them everywhere because I have to bring. I’m a single mom. So I’m stuck! In a horrible time while this stuff is going on.
I have had many returns for recently shopping online because of coronavirus and I have a weak immune system so I’m trying to stay in place as recommended by my doctor. And the store refund me money because they don’t have everything in stock I need. I understand. Well I call Walmart Money card # and explain it all. These people were so rude to me! The manager was rude to me. Told me I have to contact the places and told me it’s my fault! I called daily for 2 weeks to get this over looked and somewhat resolved!
I get it’s not a real checking account but why the Hostility? Why claim to be open for real people to answer questions but you don’t when you want to cancel a paid customer’s account. I have a refund of my children’s laptops (back ordered) $600 from Walmart for school because of coronavirus. They need something to do school work. Now I will not receive my refund because these people canceled my card. No way of understanding what I need to do to get help with my situation. Called Walmart.com for my refund. They already faxed a release for my refund to this card. They can’t help me further, so I’m told. So all this stress of this card is too bad to recommend for anyone! I was unaware at the time, I had just got my tax refund deposited on this card, and placed it in my drawer after making a few purchases. I was saving the rest of the money that was on the card for a rainy day. Well that rainy day came quicker than I thought it would. I broke my leg and couldn't work for almost a month.
I scramble for money and quickly remember that I had my car tucked away but when I proceeded to try to pay my rent with my card, my transaction declined. I called Walmart money card to see what my balance was on my card and was informed that my balance was $0. I proceeded to tell the customer service representative that the charge for $5,200 was obviously a fraudulent charge if I am trying to make a purchase right now and expecting my money to be on that card. He explained that he understood and told me to wait 30 days after making the accusation and they were trying to contact the company where the $5,000 was spent which, was apparently a car lot. I informed the representative that I was desperate for my money, that I needed it to pay bills while I was down and out of work.
I waited a few weeks for the email link that he told me that he would send to me to send my identification in and I never received the email. I called back only to get the same responses to my situation. That first the representatives would say something along the lines of why to take me so long to report my money missing and I tell them it's because I put it away for savings and then they proceeded to give me the same instructions over and over and over again.
Now we're in the midst of this pandemic, and I need my money more now than ever. I never received even a fraction of my money back. If you have this card please take your money off of it and destroy the card because this company will not back you in the event of a fraudulent charge on your card! I'm out of $5,000, and as a self-employed contractor I'm struggling to figure out how to feed my kids and keep us afloat during this pandemic. It’s over a month and I still haven’t gotten satisfied response or refund of my money. The customer service is horrible, you would be lucky if they pick your call within an hour. In the faqs section it specifically states teller withdrawals are allowed up to 5k and the daily limit for atm withdrawal are 3k. It only allowed me to take out 1k and it is declining my other attempts. They should not advertise a 3k and 5k limit and decline your attempts to attain those amounts. I would advise against having your refund pit on this card unless you want to be limited to 1000 of your own money daily. I’ve been on hold for over an hour waiting to talk to a representative regarding the issue. I want to know why my request for a 5k over the counter teller withdrawal was declined.

I always have cashed in my checks in Walmart, and then I saw the Walmart MoneyCard one day and I asked the lady about it. She was like, I could even have my checks deposited on it. So, I grabbed it and got it. I’ve been able to manage just fine with it. It’s been good to me. The only thing I don’t like about it is I can’t pull money off of it. I can, but even when I go to Walmart, I could only pull a $100 at a time off of it or they charge me the $3 fee every time. I thought when the lady told me as long as it’s direct deposit or I got the card, any time I put money on it, it doesn’t charge me. My direct deposit doesn’t charge me, but if I go in and try to load money on to it, they charge a $3 fee. And that’s another thing. I could only do it at Walmart. I can’t do it at any ATM.
But the benefit is I could use it anywhere. I don’t have to carry cash with me. My direct deposit is good too. I’ve never had a problem with it. However, the reload is just finding a person at Walmart that knows how to do it. You’re supposed to be able to go to any register and be able to load it, but most people don’t know how to do it. So, I end up having to go to customer service to do it. My lady has this card too and at first, I always go to Walmart to wire her money. But with Walmart MoneyCard, it’s just easy transaction over the phone, internet access, use the app to go on there and pull her name up, send her money. She goes on her phone and receives it. She just puts in her card number and it’s that simple.

I like that this card doesn't cost me anything to have it because I have my social security direct deposited there. It’s been very economical and very good. I pay most of my bills with it. So far, I’ve had no problems with my Walmart card compared with Visa where I have a lot. They were always changing their rules, regulations, and different things. I go to the bank to get money and I couldn’t get any because they made a change in the procedure. Now I have to do this or I have to do that. That was why I went over to the Walmart card. I have had an issue with my new card for over 3 weeks. I received a card due to mine's about to expire. The card continued giving me an error message. After calling numerous times (more than 5) I finally spoke to someone who said they would send me another card. I requested a different number in hopes that I would not have this issue again. My account had to go on lock in order or this to happen. I was not happy because spring break was a week away but I have been a customer or over 4 years and trusted them. When I received my card today, I was very excited. I still have time to do something for spring break with my 3 children.
Upon trying to activate this card, the same error message appears. I am absolutely distraught. The first lady refused to let me speak to a supervisor. The second and third persons were reluctant. I was told that I could still access my money, which was a lie. I went to the atm and could not. This is when I called the third time today. I have done everything that was asked of me to do. I have been walked through the different steps of troubleshooting. I have tried different browsers as requested and even different devices. Nothing has worked. It is now spring break and my kids will not be able to go anywhere. I do not understand that if they have the power to put the account on lock why do they not have the same power to unlock it? I am the customer and have plenty of money in the account. Why am I being punished.
I have called over 15 times in the past few weeks. It has taken time away from my kids and my job just to call. Now it is taking their spring break joy. No one seems to care. The supervisor that I spoke with today did apologize and seemed sympathetic. However, I am frustrated and almost started to cry. Imagine being a single parent with three children. They were looking forward to this week and I, trusting this company, feel like a failure to my kids. They will never get this spring break back. I have complied completely but nothing is being done. I just want the money I have worked for. I have access to No Money and my bills are overdue now.

I've had the Walmart MoneyCard for about 10 years. Green Dot started out as excellent, but here lately it's not all that great anymore. I got married and needed to change my last name on my card and was told that I had to purchase a new card and set the account up with my new name. I then moved to another state and had to get a new card mailed to me (an act of congress). It took me 3 weeks to get a card and once I get the card, I can't activate it, because they're having technical difficulties. It's been a whole week and still have not been able to activate my card. They want you to take screenshots and send the info to them so they can call you back (still waiting).
I called today so that they can send me a refund check and close the account and now they want me to send in a copy of my licenses front and back, last 4 of the card and copy of utility bill and then I was told it would be 2 weeks before I get the check. Green Dot should've left the activation process alone, where you used to be able to call and activate your card. Very dissatisfied right now.

I think we have had our card for over five years. We use it for everything. The only issue we consistently have is dispute resolution. It is terrible. They do not speak or understand English. They will shut off the card every time, even if the issue doesn’t warrant it. Then they ship you a new card. Which is really a problem if you use this card for everything. They close the card and we are cut off from literally all our money. Then we have to wait for the replacement card to come in the mail. This time they shut my card off because I filled out dispute paperwork and mailed it in. Someone hacked my Domino's Pizza account and used my ‘saved method of payment’ to pay for their pizza. It was fraud.
The people who hacked my dominos account were in another state and fraudulently completed 4 separate pizza orders in different states. I got pizza order confirmations in my email and immediately figured out what happened. I changed my dominos password and removed all saved methods of payment. I went online and printed the dispute paperwork, filled it out and mailed it in. The hackers never had my physical card, or my complete card number, my CVV code, or my address. I explained all of that on the dispute paperwork. My card was not lost, stolen or compromised.
The dominos website lets you use whatever card you have saved to pay. When you process your payment the dominos app does not ask for CVV code or zip code, which really is a huge security risk for domino’s customers. I’m extremely disappointed that my card has been shut off and I am unable to access all of our money. The dispute paperwork was clear so this is all unnecessary and terrible customer service. Especially when we have been perfect customers for over five years.

Meanwhile, you are stuck with no money and your bills are due. When I called to dispute the charges I had to wait for over 30 minutes for the customer service representative to let the system update and I still didn't get it done, because it took too long on the phone.

I thought it was good idea to get money back by shopping at Walmart by having the card.. but it's not worth it to me anymore.. They lost my business in needed a prepaid card... So many others out there.

I was away from my home when I got the first Walmart MoneyCard. I had them a few times before. But now, I made it a debit card that I could use to have my checks directly deposited, and one with my name on it. I have bad credit. I've been using Walmart card for about three years. It helps me quite a bit. Those are the only ones that I can use as an actual checking account. The payday is earlier, too. And then I like the whole stashed money that I have. After I figured out how to work all the options on it, it has been great. I just had to figure it out on my own because I wasn’t doing it right. It took me a minute. I never had my own prepaid debit card like that. Once I got the app on my phone, it was great. I’ve told people to go get a Walmart card. It’s the only debit card that I have ever been able to pay my bills with. It’s nice. And I like that they send the paper checks out.

They cannot understand me and just keep saying “oh I’m sorry. I understand”. No one can get me to a supervisor. I've filed police reports. Called them again today and yet another $50 was taken which wiped my account out completely. I asked how this continues happen and I kid you not his response was “I don’t know”. I feel this is not taken seriously by them and my money and account is not protected. The hackers still have access to account and have changed the phone number and email address. It’s been an awful few days and I have rent to pay and kids to feed.

I am extremely disappointed with this card. I had to get a replacement card and because I never received my personalized card I can't get any money from my account. I went through hell to speak with a live person and when I finally did all they said was, "Wait for your new card." It's almost been a week and I'm just about to have nervous breakdown because at this point I have know clue how I'll feed my kids or put gas in my car until the card get here.

Updated on 02/12/2020: Sure is funny that every response from this company is the same. I never got any call from them, as I’m sure every other person that has had an issue hasn’t either. They’re thieves. You better hope there’s never any fraud on your account because they will never help you. They’ll always deny your claim. They’re out for money not for their customers. Definitely would not recommend.
Original Review: Great if you have no issues ever, but as soon as you do, you might as well forget it. I had 3 unauthorized charges on my Green Dot Card, so I tried to call. Of course it’s impossible to get past the automated system. I filed a dispute online and they have done nothing. I need that $ back. They couldn’t care less. I call and call. When I get someone they speak NO English so it’s useless to even call. They cancelled my card, completely understandable, but now the $ that was on that card is just there. I can’t access it. It’s been days and they still haven’t even sent my new card. I have family accounts for my kids and they won’t even let me transfer that $ to either of those cards! I need my $ and the $ that was unauthorized and taken out of my account. They aren’t doing anything at all. I have kids. They like to eat. I think it’s time to just get a different card. This is ridiculous! No help or care for customers at all.

I bought a Walmart money card when I started my new job in December of 2019. I received 2 direct deposits on the card and after the 3rd direct deposit from my employer to the card, green dot put a hold on my account. My rent is now late and it costs $85 per day. I’ve had to get loans which is costing me more in interest as well. I have an entire family to feed and no food! I don’t get food stamps. The card is in my fiancé’s name which normally isn’t a big deal. Green dot asked us to send in documents to verify a relationship between she and I since they were deposits from my employer. She pays the bills with the card. We were initially told It would take 2 business days to verify everything and take the hold off after submitting the documents on 2/1/2020.
Today is Tuesday 2/4/2020 and when I called customer service they said they forgot to process the documents and now I have to wait another 2 business days. They admitted it was their fault. Now I’m supposed to pay an addition $170-$255 in late fees? The place where I live is very expensive and I chose the money card because I can’t stand traditional banks charging overdraft and returned item fees. This has been a disaster. When my fiancé and I called customer service, they seemed as though they didn’t care about our money. After we called multiple times to verify that everything is on the right track, they started ignoring our call. The call won’t go through! We’re beyond frustrated, I have $2,281 in that account and after reading these reviews it only makes it worse. I’m strongly considering taking legal action if need be.

I'm happy with Walmart MoneyCard. I wanted something different, so I got one. It's just a $5 fee to use the whole thing. You just go and get the money off the card and pay your bills. If I don't wanna spend it all, I just move from my default card online. I have the app and it's easy to use. I don't reload the card. There's a fee when you put money on the card, but direct deposits don't have one.

I have had a Walmart MoneyCard for years now & had very few problems. That is until now. Everything with my card was fine until I noticed in my app saying my new card was on the way. I contacted customer service because I didn't recall requesting a new card & my current card didn't expire until 2020. I was told by customer service that it was a replacement card automatically sent out due to the WAWA breach. So I think to myself... "OK.. Cool.. I go to Wawa regularly. Better safe than sorry." I then waited patiently for my card to arrive. That's when the serious issues began.
I try to activate my card via the app. & run into a problem with receiving the texted phone verification code. This brought the activation process to a screeching halt. I tried over & over to resend the phone verification text so I could complete the activation process to no avail. I tried through the app, over the phone and online. I was unable to receive the texted code to my phone via any of these methods. Thinking it might be an issue with the shortcode causing the text to be blocked. I then called my phone service provider to ensure I don't have shortcodes blocked on my phone & did several tests to ensure the issue was not with my Phone, Phone Provider, or settings.
I then proceeded to call you guys at the customer service number provided for the Walmart moneycard. I explained my issue & was just transferred to the automated activation system despite me telling them I was unable to verify it via that method. I called a few more times trying to get help with tech support stating "I DID NOT WANT TO BE SENT TO THE AUTOMATED SYSTEM" only to be transferred back to the automated system that I told them wasn't working & didn't want to be sent to it!
After repeated calls to you guys providing nothing but a runaround, I finally got a customer service rep to actually listen to my issue & try to help me with it. (I think her name was Rachel) Unfortunately, she was very limited as to what she could do for me. I was informed that there is no way to be transferred to a tech support representative & that she had to send it in an email & I wouldn't get a response for about 2 days.
This puts me in a very bad spot. According to her, when I tried to activate my new card, it voids my other card, so I now cannot use that card. I can't get my new card activation completed without the texted phone verification code that I'm not receiving. so at the moment, I cannot access the funds via ATM with either card. The only way I can access the funds is if it's online using it as a checking account & that's only good for online purchases & such... That is no help when I need to withdraw gas money for my husband to get to work, or go food shopping.
I can't contact tech support directly & will have to wait to communicate with them via email. This is not acceptable to me at all. I needed this resolved ASAP & was provided with a runaround by a number of your reps just pushing me off onto an automated system I repeatedly asked them not to before I got finally got a rep that would even listen to me. This is the worst support I have ever experienced.
I feel bad for the rep who finally took the time to talk to me & help me as she could understand my frustrations given the situation & the prior treatment I received. She apologized numerous times for not being able to provide any more help than she could & that the tech support process would be so slow. She really did her best but was limited by the lousy "tech support" process & the inability to access any other way to provide any other assistance.
There really needs to be some way to verify & activate my card ASAP & a way to resolve an issue like this right away.. Not over email that will take days leaving me no way to access my funds other than online. At the moment, I have no clue how long I will have to wait before I can even get an email from you to find out if I can even get this resolved or not.

We also tried to validate the card and called and the customer service could not validate the card either. They said that they would turn it over to technical support and get back to me. That never happened. They WILL NOT give you a phone number or email to contact them about the problem. All you will get is an automated system. Very frustrating. The only way I was able to contact them was through Facebook Messenger. They did NOTHING. They said that I had to turn this over to the police and file a report. We were never able to validate the card at all. $350.00 down the drain. It is not right that you cannot even talk to a person or write an email.

If you're looking to get your refund on a Debit card, THIS ISN'T IT. This is by far the worst prepaid card I have ever encountered. I received my cash advance on this card and whoa was I in for a surprise. The instructions clearly tell you it's a debit card. You have to download their app and then set up your account and make a pin for your card. WRONG! You have to wait for your permanent card to come in and make a pin. There are no cash back options because well and behold you do not have a PIN! So now your money is on Walmart's, Green Dot prepaid card and you have to wait 7 to 10 business days to get access to your money. So here we are only being able to use the card's credit option.
Now I have my permanent card. Awesome! I'm thinking easy does it right! I follow the directions but there is no money on the new card. Call customer service to get some guidance and well and behold, you need to take the temporary and permanent card into a Walmart where they will go ahead and transfer the funds from the temporary card to the permanent one. What an inconvenience. Now I have to make time out of my day to get this done and take all my money out so I can actually put it into my personal account. I don't think Walmart thought this through at all. It's 2020 Walmart and Green Dot. This should not be such a hassle. With all the technology in the world this should be handled remotely. Such a disappointment and inconvenience. Customer service was decent but my overall experience was horrible. I will NEVER use this card.

I had a Walmart card that I put my paycheck on. I checked my balance on Saturday morning. There was $560 on my card. 30 minutes later I drove to a gas station, tried to use card @ pump it was declined & told me to see attendant. I went inside swiping card @ register. Card worked just fine & let me get $20 in gas. This was @ Love's truck stop in Domino, Texas. I next drove 30 minutes away to Texarkana, Texas to Books A Million, where my card was declined. I was able to make a $20 purchase. My intended purchases was for $50. I went to car & called balance on card where automated proceeded to tell me my balance was $7.00. I went through automated again to listen to recent transactions. It said I made 2 recent ATM charges in Austin, Tx. @ the time I was driving to Texarkana. I called & talked to "BOB" Who proceeded to tell me that I couldn't file a complaint because I didn't catch the scam in a timely manner.
We have finally got to file two complaints. Both were denied. We got scammed out of $520 & Greendot says we drove 379 miles just 1 way in 30 minutes. I might have a brand new car, but it doesn't have that kind of speed or gas mileage on $20. We sent statements, police reports, receipts to prove where we were @ time of ATM theft. Yet still denied. Beware of these card scammers, they are no better than the person or persons who stole my paycheck. This company DOESN'T work or care for you. Your money isn't guaranteed w/ this company. Customer service is an absolute nightmare. Trying to get a professional on the phone was like trying to herd cockroaches. If your money is ever scammed @ a gas pump or stolen online, You WON'T get your money back.
If there was a way I could get my money back I would love that. But as of now Greendot @ every turn has denied my claims, even though I've produced the evidence, proof of my purchase & what time & town I was in. Solid proof & police report from county sheriff's office was apparently not enough either. BUYERS BEWARE SPENDING YOUR $3.00 ON THIS CARD & PUTTING MONEY ON IT.

This card has an initial 25 dollars loaded on it when purchased in December. I have been trying for 3 weeks to locate the initial money that was placed on this card and the service that I have received from the help center has been some of the worst I have ever experienced. I have spoken with three different employees on all three calls and each time I was forced to read 10 minutes worth of information to them only to be told that someone would be contacting me shortly. After I called the first time, I was told only to give them the information off of the receipt and they would research it and call me back. Nothing. So I called back only to be forced to give all of the information to them again and with the added request that I make a copy of my receipt and email it to them. I was told that I would hear from someone within 24 hours. Nothing.
I called back today and was asked to provide all of this information again and now I am told that the case was rejected because I didn't make a copy of the card's front and back and send this in with the receipt. I was irate. They are literally changing the requirements each time I call. I asked to speak to a manager and was told none were available and that one would call me back within 4 hours. Nothing. This is a scam plain and simple. I will be reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau for stealing my money. I don't know about the other responses that were positive on this site, but I can assure you that I have never dealt with such a crooked and disrespectful company. Stay away!

But overall I guess Ive been using the Walmart money card for many years now, I believe this is probably my first entry to win with the monthly drawing or winnings. Definitely have never won in all the years of using this card company or any Walmart services for that matter. I would have given it 5, but it has a couple of drawbacks. I like how I can get notifications and emails. I like the vault. As long I direct-deposit my paycheck, I don't have to pay the fee, which is better than my checking account. While it is mostly convenient and allows me to shop online while protecting my bank account, there are a lot of sites that won't take prepaid cards. While I CAN link it to my PayPal, not everyone takes that, either. I can't pay at the pump, and the occasion crops up I need cash and I'm not near Walmart, I have to pay two fees. For the most part though, it has been a very user-friendly experience.

Bought a new WMC with a 500.00 initial load. Registered as usual and told my identity could not be verified and I was limited to in person transactions. No option to prove my identity, and even worse today trying to use the card in person it was declined. If I call the customer service number I’m told either my social is invalid or the card is invalid depending on how I try to access it. I cannot get through to a live person, and replies to emails are generic with the same information I was already given, such as I’m limited to in person transactions, even though I have stated multiple times that those also will not work.
Even the manager of the Walmart I purchased the card from could get no answers and got the same card invalid when he tried to run it, even though he could see through my online account the card balance and that it was registered. I have been given no option to validate my identity. No option for a return of my cash or even an option to transfer the money to my other WMC that I’ve had for years and deposited thousands of dollars on. I’m not in a position to lose this money, and I cannot believe there is not a person I can speak to, or even that whoever replies to my customer service emails can address my problems rather than supplying the same generic response. I really don't have a issue. Just a lot of retailers dont take the card. Due to it being considered a prepaid card. Nothing else. Also when you load the card you shouldn't charge 3.00. And there shouldn't be a minimum amount.

It's the best prepaid card service, in my opinion. I didnt have to rush out to Moneygram or Western Union to send money 400 miles away to help a friend in an emergency using the card. I can get money easily loaded from anywhere if ever necessary. I have never had any online purchase issues using my card.

I was looking for a little debit card within Walmart, and I saw the Walmart MoneyCard and bought it. I use it for day-to-day. I do direct deposit for just a small amount of money to have for the little extra stuff I have to do day in and day out. I love it for what I use it for. However, I recently took a job within the last couple of years where I make a lot less money than I made a few years ago and my direct deposit is $300. And I keep getting hit with that $5 monthly fee. I don’t like paying that $5 monthly fee. Because before, I used to put $500 on it and I didn’t have that monthly fee.

I have my job deposit a small portion of my check to card and I can use it anywhere. The only problem I experience with the card is when go to certain gas stations it will not work at the pump. I believe the reason is that they place a temporary hold/charge that exceeds what's on it which would force me to go to the cashier. The primary use is for saving for home projects or I can't spend what's in my primary bank account.

I have a problem with paying such high fees when taking my own money out of an ATM. I don't feel its right that I have to pay to get my own money out. You could at least offer your customers 1 withdrawal for free each time money is deposited into their accounts. I have to deposit over $1000 each month so I don't pay a fee for putting my money in your bank. By doing so I pay even more money in ATM fees. It's almost like stealing money from people. I work hard for the money I have but in order for me to spend it I have to pay you to give it to me. It's out of hand. I'm glad the big wigs in your company can look themselves in the mirror everyday.

Please tell me why I am getting a monthly service charge of $5.00 when I have a direct deposit of my retirement check. This charge causes problems when I pay the people I owe money to I don't receive my check. If I don't leave at least $5.00 to cover the fee then it is deducted from the amount I get each month and that leave's me short paying my bill's. I will be waiting for your reply. Thank you.

All in all, I only have 1 complaint with Walmart Money Card services; every time direct deposit would come, almost immediately after, several unfamiliar charges of various amounts ranging from $1.69 - $39.98 would also be processed. The thing is I have no idea nor had authorized any such various charges, and tried to dispute them but always with no success, and when searching for the reason and/or source to these charges, I only met a dead end every time with no answer or clue or even ever a cease of said "mysterious charges"... Maybe it was something ordered online? Maybe it was some membership subscription fee that I simply don't recall? All other documented transactions provided ALL the information one would need - but not these unidentified, "third-party" charges ... I've lost close to $250-$300 total in gathered, unidentified, non-traceable, bogus and ** charges all together.
