They took a 131.00 out of my account after being on hold for 20 min. They said it was because I was 30 days past due on a loan payment. The payment is 20.41. It was paid on 11/28. Said it was to cover the loan and when 30 days this happens. Been with them since 1983. Hope I live to see the bank fail.

About 36 hours ago, the mobile app for Regions account holders stopped working. The company stopped providing any type of updates 24 hours ago. This is happening 10 days before Christmas. Facebook is literally flooded with hundreds and hundreds of angry complaints. People can't order online, use their debit at ATMs, nor use any mobile app feature. No response from the company. Pathetic way to run a company.

Today I was charged $72.00 in NSF for pending charges, which never overdrafted my account! It doesn't matter if that charge was going to 'fall off' or what... they decided to hit me with fees anyway. Kicker is I had a direct deposit of 128 last night to cover any pending charges that was held till after they charged me the fees. Doesn't make sense to me???

They add fees, don't want to give you back the overdraft fees they owe you and use your overdraft protection once and never lets you use it again. Poor customer service and all about their money. They don't care about the customer. You will always find your account in the hole.

I opened a business account with Regions Bank and was told that I would be given $200 as a referral fee. I was not informed that I had to put in $500 the same business day. I found out a few days later and promptly submitted the money (when I could have submitted it the same day if I would have known). I was told by the Vice President/ Guest & Member Relations that it wouldn't be a problem. Months later, I still haven't gotten the money and when I called to check on it- the Vice President told me that she never said that and flat out lied to me! She did in fact say that, I remember it clearly!! I don't appreciate her trying to cover up with excuses and making me feel as if I didn't remember properly when in fact she is just covering up for an error made on her end.

My acct been on hold for months now. I visited multiple branches and managers and employees both worked on my case. First with Kevin and now with Brooke at the legal dept side. Both branches sent out my judge and court approved orders to release my funds and still will not release my money to me. I call and they say we can only reach out to legal dept and every time I call after that they hide and don’t answer and all of a sudden with a guest every time I call back and now on vacation for a week.
Why do you hold my money and not get me to the right person? You asked for legal documents and you received them, now what? I guess I will be sharing this with others that this bank plays with your money and others money and decide to hold their money at anytime they want. I have never been played with and will not let this bank play me in circles. Now it’s time to get a lawyer and hopefully this will teach them a lesson and for the time and stress I been going through with this issue.

You will not find a more greedy bank with all of the hidden fees. They are not friendly and they do not care if you cancel your account with them. I opened up a checking account less than a year ago and already I am cancelling my account, because I was charged over $100.00 in overdraft fees when I had money in savings account, that I thought was auto transfer when the checking was low. They did the auto draft but still charge me for overdraft?? What was the point of setting up an account with auto transfer if I'm still going to incur fees. This bank is a joke and hopefully will not last long.

BEWARE! Regions has withdrawn money from my account ($500), when that amount was Not available! On the 6th of November, Regions removed 500... although there was only 119 in the account. Everything prior to that... 9 line entries/payments, had already been paid. By Regions pulling the 500 from the account, ALL of those line items went into unpaid status! 9 Items... Regions Forced my account into a NEGATIVE STATUS... and now, Are charging OVERDRAFT FEES, for Each unpaid item... 9... one as Small as $2!!!
I've spoken with Several people, it comes down to an Unrelated/Unlinked business account... and without Notice... OR ACTUAL FUNDS IN THE ACCOUNT TO COVER, they pulled the money. I am literally living by Driving Uber... and have a Child that has to eat, No gas, to drive... and the account is Negative $592- with the first of several $36 fees! How can a bank FORCE an account into a negative status... it Was Not negative Prior to Regions pulling that money. Please help with this. Who do I call to lodge a complaint, and file a claim. As others have said... Same thing here. Transactions go in and out to try and overdraft you; rearrange the transactions high to low, to overdraft you; withhold debits so you will overdraft later. Deposits go in and out to overdraft you; rearrange posted transactions to overdraft you; "force check" debits through to overdraft you with a recurring charge or check... Last time, debit was 17 days old; and recently, put a duplicate transaction through to overdraft me. Disputed it, but still left in the hole until they "investigate." They even told me the computer system on the merchant's end can duplicate it on its own by mistake. That was after I told them I know the owners of the establishment, and can check to see if they put it through twice. But... In no way Regions did it. Uh, sure thing, Regions. Thiefs! Corrupt! Unethical! HORRIBLE BANK. ZERO STARS. DO NOT BANK HERE.

I have had so many issues with this bank... is one thing after the other. Instead of helping customer satisfaction is the opposite. They force you to have a minimum amount for direct deposit to avoid the monthly fee which is ridiculous, also for customers that looking to save money is not a good deal when it comes to your transactions. Transactions appear when they wanted to happen without any notification to avoid the overdraw fee leaving on negative and they even close your account with a zero balance without any notification again!! Also it is a pending transaction. It will not give you time to deposit the difference like you can do it with CHASE which very convenient. I wish I would read more about it before opening my account, so happy with CHASE FOR 10 years!!??

Regions Not There for Hurricane Michael Victims. I spoke with a customer service agent at Region's because my husband's place of employment was demolished and my place of employment won't be open any time soon and we have excellent credit and do not want to damage that on top of everything else. I called to see if we could get a reprieve on our mortgage and tack the payments on to the end. I was told no. Before the hurricane our house is worth much more than what is owed on it and compared to others we are lucky we did not have more damage. Regions is giving a forbearance for 90 days and all 3 payments are due at that time. But they might consider a hardship loan after that. This is just a way for Region's to make money off of other's misfortune.
I remember after Katrina when we visited our family in New Orleans many damaged homes in opulent areas were vacant because people just walked away. I thought how odd at the time but I can't help but wonder if this is why. I know their phone recording says Region's is here to help but don't be fooled. When this is over I will take all of my banking elsewhere. I just want people to be aware when moving to the south. We are from the Midwest and I know when my Family's farm was ravaged by a tornado our local bank stepped up to the plate and not only helped my Father but others in the community as well.

I went to Regions Bank on hwy 90 in Pace, Fl. 32571 on 9 October 2018 when they first opened. I attempted to cash a personal check that was written on Regions Bank by an individual who had bought my van in the amount of $2,000. The teller was a young guy at the first teller window. He verified that the gentleman had the money in the account to cover the check. Then I was told there would be a $20 fee to cash the check that was written on your bank because I was not a customer with your bank. That upset me so I took it to Pen Air here in Pace and they immediately cashed the check and I was given the money.
Last week I had sold another vehicle and the check for $2300 was written on United Bank. I took it to United here in Pace and no questions ask except for an ID and they cashed the check. I called your toll free number and listened to your tape recordings and sure enough you folks charge 1% to cash anybody's check if you are not a customer. For your information; I will never be one of your customers nor would I recommend anyone to be your customer. Thank you very much for letting me vent. I really do feel thankful that I personally deal with Pen Air, Charter Bank, Navy Federal and have never had any difficulties with any of them the way I have with you folks.

Went to ATM machine put them in their slot, it closed and the screen, "This function is not valid." Told my wife, she came to the Bank Monday morning to report the complaint. Region said they would investigate and it would take 5-10 days. She got letter yesterday and they disallowed her claim. In other words they stole our money. So for an account that never went in the negative yet got charged like one that did... thus ended our relationship with Regions.

I have had my small business checking account with Regions for over 10 years. I have a small motorcycle shop. I order parts online, have several automatic payouts set up and of course write some checks. Because I cannot keep a minute to minute balance on my account I keep an eye on my balance checking it several times a day. Yesterday it showed several hundred balance, this morning it showed 144.00 in overdraft fees and 300.00 overdraft. I went to the local branch and talked to someone there. She printed out some info on my account and it looks like they anticipated the account would be overdrawn so they charged my account 144.00 in NFS fees, did cause a 36.00 fee to be charged on 4 charges instead of 1.
This is a scam. It's really stealing! First of all if the information they provided was correct I should not have been overdrawn. I read something someone else posted on this site about the way they seem to hold some charges back and spring them on you causing a overdraft. Can this be legal? I have to wonder if it should be something a class action lawsuit over? It's not enough damage to any one person however It's a huge amount of money they are stealing combined.

I have banked with Regions for 20+ years and have numerous accounts with them. I pull up my account today to discover they have charged me a $36. overdraft fee because I was supposedly .88 cents short on a charge to my debit card. I had close to $2000. in savings and had money in every other account that is linked with mine. Did they bother to pull .88 cents to cover that??? NO. When I called, it took me 30 minutes to get someone on the phone and she told me, basically, too bad.
This is how they operate. If I had been .01 cents short, they would've charged me $36. Are you kidding me??? Maybe they're charging so much so that they can hire some courteous, prompt, and informed customer service representatives??? Because they sure do not have any now. I recommend that NO ONE bank with Regions. They have horrible customer service and horrible bank practices. They will probably be the next bank that we find out has been embezzling money continuously!!!

So I am having the same issues with my account. I put money in and if I use my debit/credit card I need to go online and check my account first because there are always something coming out of my account on their end. Fees! Now I have switched to carrying cash and rarely use my card. My problem is I'm stuck there because I have a $7500.00 personal loan that was co-signed for me, used to start a small business. I cannot count how many times money is just plain missing! Gone! Poof! So I start watching my accounts and collecting hard copy proof and putting all of it in a red folder.
One thing I found strange is when I go in and pay on my loan I try to double the amount due. (Trying to get ahead) The processes changed, from person to person? The teller takes the money and only puts minimum amount due on loan, then does "another transaction" and tells me she is putting that towards my principle. Well this money never again was to be found. Then I went in and asked about it, no manager ever available and I was told they "moved her to another branch" So you get the kid that does new accounts, he says, "he will have the manager call me when he gets back in the office." No call back.
Ok so one thing is I live 1/4 mile from Regions so one time, after going through this yet again, I called from the parking lot and told the same thing, "The manager is not in." Bam walked right in door, phone still in hand. I walked in the manager's office threw down all my proof of this money not in me account. Hundreds... "What the hell is going on with my money?!" She took all of my receipts and printed transactions, had it all in a folder. She takes the folder, looks at it and sees what I'm talking about. She sounded concerned and says she will "get to the bottom of this!" We talked one or two more that week she doesn't know, she will have to go higher-up to find the answer and will get back to me ASAP.
I'm so happy finally I'm going to get to the bottom of this. The next day or two after work I stopped in and she DOESN'T WORK THERE ANYMORE and The red folder gone!! I asked the NEW manager what was going on with this missing money, he "just started at this branch so he needs to get caught up on everything" OK so I give him a week or two, I go in and "he is not there anymore." I'm thinking this job has a high turnover rate? There is something going on at this bank!! What's the **. Is this Area 51 or what? All I want to know is where is my damn money?? Stopped in again this time before work and there is a large RED sign on the front door this branch Is closed!! Ok now I know I'm just screwed? This has caused me so much time and stress that I actually was thinking I'm losing my mind. This can't happen right, I mean there are laws and federal standards.RIGHT???

I have had issues with my online banking before, but today is the last straw. Over the weekend I could not get into my online banking. Had to wait until Wednesday my only day off to call them. They did some type of update and because of that I had to delete my browser history. OK fine, while that was annoying, what happened next was the very last time I will do business with them. When I finally got into my account my direct deposit was not in my account after checking with my job to make sure it wasn't on their end, it wasn't.
I called Regions yet again. They told me they are having an issue with the direct deposit. That was at 9:30 AM, it is now 2:30 PM, and my pay is not in the account. I have automatic withdraws from that account. I made an appointment with Bank of America to move my funds, but I CANNOT move my funds because my pay is not in my regions account. As soon as I have my money I am withdrawing all of it and going with BoA.

Our debit card was cloned on 07/20/18 and after racking up hundreds of dollars in actual purchases and overdraft fees, the bank denied our claim twice stating that it passed their fraud investigation. What investigation if you don't even review camera footage or signatures, hell you don't even contact the police department...we did file a report as well. We never received any alerts that our card had been compromised. I happened to be getting ready to make an Amazon purchase and realized that one of our accounts was in the negative! Not being able to contact anyone due to their "office hours". I went to the mobile app and blocked all transactions.
We've been with this bank for over 15 years and were never told that we needed to set up separate accounts for mobile banking! After waking up to several more charges, is when this was discovered! Not only has this been a nightmare to resolve, it ruined our birthday weekend because we had no money!! They took the money from our savings and primary account to cover the overdraft and left us with $2...and the damn account is still in the negative as we speak! This is no way to treat your customers! And to have an uptight rep pretty much show no sympathy and try to over talk us when we called tonight and told that she was there by herself after asking to speak with a manager is bull! There's no way you are the only person in the building left.
I've worked in customer service and the sups are the last to leave at the end of the business day! Bank with them at your own risk. They will continue to rack up fees and treat you as if you are the criminal who's trying to scam them! Why would you go through so much trouble to put yourself liable if you were the culprit?! Makes absolutely no sense. And when asked for an explanation, we're told that oh well it passed their tests, and a card was actually handed to the merchant. We don't contact the merchant or the police, you can do that yourself?! TF you mean?! At least feed me first if you're gonna continue to screw me over!! Regions, you've lost a loyal customer out of this, and you should be ashamed of your practices when it comes down to customer satisfaction!

On 5-25-18, I opened a checking account with the promise of a $200 bonus. I later opened a savings account and was promised a $100 bonus if I made regular transfers for six months. On August 10, 2018, I received a form letter from A. Flowers with Regions Bank: "We are unable to verify certain information" and requesting a copy of a Lease Agreement, Mortgage Statement, or current utility bill. I am currently living in a sober living home, so have none of these. Does this mean Regions no longer wants my business? Regions is extremely dishonest. They have manipulated my account so that overdraft charge go multiple. They have refused to investigate fraudulent charges to my account. They transfer you and keep you on hold hoping you'll just go away. I've waited as long as 40 minutes only to have the customer service representative hang up seconds after answering. You might as well give your money to a Mexican drug cartel. Yesterday I took Lyft out of town for a final job interview and to sign a new lease. Regions suspected "activity" and froze my credit card. So, when the 2 gentlemen I did business with walked me to my Lyft ride the driver was livid and cursing at me because the charge would not go through. I was humiliated. My landlord and new employer gave me looks! The driver called the police and I sat in the back of a patrol car. I have never even gotten a speeding ticket! This bank will do everything they can do to allow your account to overdraft so that they can collect fees. They even had an agent call me pretending to be protecting the security of my card (I had moved and was using the card in another part of the country) when in reality they were changing the settings on my account to allow it to be overdrafted. I had made it very clear to them that I wanted no overdraft to be possible. I will be closing the account as soon as possible and would not recommend this bank to anyone.

I set up my account maybe 4-5 years ago when I got my first full time summer job. I only chose this bank because they had one in my home state and also where I went to college. The first couple years it was nice banking with them and there was no hassle because I didn't do anything with them (i.e. bill pay, ATM withdrawals, transfers etc).
As I grew older and had more bills to pay like credit cards and rent and transfers between accounts, that's when I realized that banking with Regions was a mistake. I work a normal M-F 8-5 job sometimes I work 9-6 Central time which means that anytime there's something wrong I will need to call in the day on my lunch hour. While I normally wouldn't mind doing this on my lunch break, the fact that it takes over an hour to get in touch with someone is ridiculous and when you finally do every associate you speak with has a huge attitude and a chip on their shoulder. Banking companies should have 24 hour assistance.
Also, anytime I check my account it says I have a certain amount and then the next day or two days later I have significantly less. The fact that it takes so long for things to process on their end is ridiculous. Dealing with Regions over the phone is just plain ridiculous to sit there and explain what is happening to your account and Regions saying, "Sorry. There's nothing we can do," over and over again on top of having an attitude is so disrespectful. Has Regions ever heard of "The customers come first." Without customers they would literally have no business.
I am only staying with them because of the amount of locations across the US whereas most banks in my area, are only in this area and nowhere else. The OD fees ($36 per item) are ridiculous, the time it takes to process is ridiculous, their customer service is ridiculous. I can't name one thing that truly has stood out to me. If you want a tip, anytime you go out to a restaurant make sure to pull out cash and pay that way. Their ATM withdrawals will process same business day if you go to the ATM before 8 and next business day after 8. Also if they have ever refunded you for the erroneous OD charges you accrue due to thinking you had more in your account, they will never do it again no matter how nice you are to them. They only do it once. Doesn't matter how many years ago it happened. Thank you Regions for really making your customers feel awful and having a bad experience.
I just want to add one last experience. I have two checking accounts so I can transfer between and pay bills if I am not using bill pay. One of my checking accounts had $0 in it for about 2.5 weeks. I had called Regions a week and a half earlier explaining that I would be receiving a deposit and if there would be any issues. They said, "No everything would be fine". I got paid on a Thursday in my main checking account and I transferred all my money into the $0 checking account that night before bed around 11:00 PM and didn't think anything of it. I had cash on me so I didn't use my debit card Friday either. On Saturday I try to go shopping and my debit card doesn't work. I go to the ATM to try to pull money out and I can't. It's around 1:30 at this time and I needed to speak to someone fast because Regions closes at 2:00 PM on Saturdays.
I call Regions and it takes 25 minutes to get an associate and she tells me I my account is in soft close because I hadn't had a deposit in 2.5 weeks. NOBODY told me this when I called a week prior to let them know. So I tell her that is unacceptable because I only had 10 dollars left in cash and it was a holiday weekend so we wouldn't have any way of accessing my account for three days. She says she can't do anything further to get my account out of soft close. I yelled at her and told her what would you do if you only had 10 dollars and two mouths to feed and you had to wait 3 days. She said, "Well I'd never get myself in that situation."
I told her transfer me to your manager. She asked why and I said, "Because clearly you can't help me." She tells me she will IM an associate to further assist me and if she can she will transfer me. She says the associate told her to transfer. (Don't forget Regions closes at 2 and it's already 2:10 at this point.) She says, "Please hold while I transfer you." A Regions recording comes up and thanks me for calling but no associates are available because they are closed. I call back the normal line and the same recording comes up.
I am panicking in the car and I search on my phone "Regions after hours" and apparently the number listed is for Regions credit card holders but the nice woman who answered allowed me to explain my situation and she tells me to hold on while she gets me over to a Regions associate who handles mobile banking and debit cards. Someone finally answered (HALLELUJAH) after 15 minutes and she was so nice. I was in tears at this time and she was able to assist me. She told me to hold on while she messages someone from the tech team who may be able to fix my account being in soft close. It was successful and I was able to use my debit card where I could use my pin.
I spoke to her manager and gave her a Kudos because it only took her 10 minutes to fix my problem whereas the other associate just wanted to transfer me to so she could go home for the day. That experience is why Regions is awful at customer service and they need to be retrained. I work in customer service and that was just unacceptable. When I sent a secured message from my account to Regions regarding the experience, they again replied as if it was my fault. That is not how you treat customers.

VERY disappointed in Regions Bank. I closed my checking account due to relocating. And when the account was closed my FREE online banking was closed. I receive my paperless statements online. I need 3 months' previous bank statements. Now since I have closed my account I have been booted offline. I was going to view and print my last 3 statements online as I have done numerous times for FREE. So I called CS, she said I would have to pay $5 per statement??? This is crazy. I was an excellent customer for years with Regions. Since online banking was shut down, they want to charge me $15 for 3 statements.
If I did not choose free online banking WITHOUT paperless statements, they wouldn't charge me $5 a month to send me my statement by USPS mail monthly. Regions really doesn't care about people, only their customers. That is horrible CS. If you are not their customer any longer, Regions will kick you to the curb. Very unacceptable way to conduct a business/customer relationship. Regions has lost my total respect. It's not about the $15. It's about the principle and morals how a business such as Regions treat their customers and former customers.

I am currently switching from Chase Bank to Regions because Chase does not have any locations in or around Nashville. Regions makes creating a checking account appear simple, claiming everything can be done online quickly and easily. However, about a week after opening my online Regions account, I received a sketchy e-mail (I thought it was a virus) telling me to call to verify "pertinent" information on my account. I called during work and, after bouncing around different customer service lines and going through their laborious automated menu, was finally transferred to a local branch for "verification." The branch is requiring me to bring a paper copy of my lease to its location. I, like most Americans, work Monday through Friday during the hours they're open. I have never seen or experienced a bank requiring a copy of a lease agreement. Is this 2018 or 1985?

I've had an account with Regions for about 3 or 4 years, and have had an issue over the years with the way the balance is prone to change from one minute to the next unexpectedly. Example: The other day, I checked my account online first thing in the morning and saw I had a certain amount ($9.85 to be exact), then went to a doctor's appointment, then to the grocery store, and when I scanned my card, it said insufficient funds. So I called the bank and was told that some charges went through, and I had a negative 15 cent balance. I explained that couldn't be possible, because I checked my account before I left the house, and I haven't made any transactions in over a week.
I was told that the charge of $10 for checks I had ordered went through that day, even though I had ordered the checks on the first of the month (the lady then told me that they charge when the checks are sent out/when they arrive, to which I informed her I ordered them on the first of the month, and I received them over a week ago, and I had already been charged for them).
I learned early on with this bank to make sure to check the account several times a day and write down the amount every time because of issues like this happening in the past, and have kept up with every transaction made, so I don't understand why the charge went through again. Long story short, I hate this bank with a passion! I want to close the account, but since I just ordered checks, I realize that would be money wasted, ugh, so I guess I'll stick with them until I use all the checks. But I HEAVILY advise everyone else to STAY AWAY from them!

I went to the bank last week and they did waive 180.00 in OD fees and I locked my account down and I just checked and they have attempted to run another ATT through and I was told at ATT that they had not run that through. I'm on SS and they have me in OD. Help.

So, I've been with Regions since I was a gullible 17 year-old my. I'm much older now and have grown tired of their incompetence. My work checks have gone missing recently at my new job. Direct Deposit hasn't been working for 3 months. I called my works HR department to have them confirm to me that the payments have been completed, but yet my money is nowhere to be seen in the accounts. I walk into the bank on my lunch break to see what's going on with my money on the first of the month on Friday after not getting anyone to pick up the phone for 20 minutes. THEY HAVE ONE TELLER AND ONE ACCOUNT SPECIALIST (employees that specialize in signing up people for new accounts) AND A LINE TO THE DOOR. I will repeat this again. On a Friday and it's the first of the month, they had two people in there and security guard. You've got be kidding me. Any normal bank would be fully staffed on this day. NOT REGIONS!!
I quickly realized that I'd be there for my entire lunch break and just walked back out. After finally getting on the phone with them, Regions directs me back to my works HR department saying it's their fault. Then again I confirm with HR that my numbers are correct and that it has definitely been completed. After getting back to regions they tell me they will look into it further and put me on hold after asking me how much the check was for. They said that they couldn't do anything and that they can't find my money. EXCUSE ME?! I'm currently under the impression that they are mis-depositing my money into someone's account and are too incompetent to double triple check that they are indeed putting the money into the correct account.
After my work gets my money to me on a pay card again I'm closing this account and going somewhere else. I have bills to pay and food that I need to buy to sustain my life force. This is not a game. It feels like they don't care about my money or me anymore. I'm pleading with anyone that reads this. DO NOT BANK WITH REGIONS.

My reasoning for the review is I’m finally fed up with this bank. I should’ve left almost 10 years ago but I was convinced by the bank manager to stay which quite frankly was the worse mistake I could’ve done. The hidden fees left and right the ridiculous overdraft fees they cover ten dollars but because it was 3 individual charges I would lose over 100 bucks overdraft fees. After trying to deposit money and the atm ate it I’m done with this horrible branch. My friends left them. It’s about time I learned to do the same and walk away.

I hate Hate HATE this bank. For years I had banked with my local credit union, but when I went off to college I decided to get a more universal bank account. I definitely chose the wrong bank to give my business to. I have had several problems in the past with their processing causing problems with my account and costing me a lot of extra money that I needed. However, this time is the LAST STRAW.
My boyfriend is hooked to my account, and he is able to transfer money out if needed. One day he transferred it, however unbeknownst to me it had not processed yet through Regions and my available balance did not reflect that amount had been taken out, therefore causing me to overspend accidentally. The transaction did not process until THE NEXT WEEK, by which time I had already made a fair amount of transactions. However, now my account is in the negative along with the huge overdraft fee. Ok fine. However I also have certain services on auto draft, which caused me a DOUBLE OVERDRAFT. I will NOT be paying both fees, and after everything is settled, I WILL be changing banks FIRST THING tomorrow morning.

My experience when I was hacked was not pleasant as they canceled my card on a vacation trip w/o my knowledge and left me with no money access. Luckily, I had enough to get home and they apologized but recommended I have a backup card and I do with another financial institution. I have no complaints and am not considering moving to another bank in the future.

What Regions Bank is doing is in violation of the Unfair and Deceptive Act. They placed a hold (Funds Availability Act violation) on my cash deposit over 10 days when I opened an account. Cash is supposed to be immediately available. I called and they had no reason or reasonable excused to hold it. I made a mobile deposit on May 15, 2018 from the same bank they knew I worked at and the same bank they received the cash advance from using my debit card and placed a hold on my funds with no knowledge still today (8 days and counting and costing me interest on my LOC).
I called 1 day later and they could not tell me when the hold is going to be release or why an extended hold was placed. It's now 8 days and my money is on hold. I only placed it into the account to pay off my line of credit. They the seen the exact amount and now every day they hold it my line of credit is unpaid causing me a negative impact which is accrual fees that I will be charged to my LOC. I can't close my account while pending. They received my funds the same day they placed a hold. I recently filed a federal reserve complaint and awaiting the response. Please I have been with my first bank and still continue for 14 years. SunTrust Bank has been great to me. I know you might have your opinions but this is facts! Truth! I hate that I got a LOC with Regions.
I will payoff and close even though my credit score will take a hit. I can afford it for the time. I have built a strong credit history so even with the hit I will still be over 700. The price of losing a great customer is beyond me for Banks like Regions. I will say to anyone having been in banking and recently left the field RUN FOR YOUR LIFE FROM REGIONS BANKS!!! I have great clients who left and came over to my bank. Not everyone follows the rules and those that fail to, should be demolished, shut down and forgotten!!! BTW rating is O stars...

Unfortunately I can’t leave a review on your page, so I’ll have to like this. If I could give you guys a star rating it would be zero stars. My purse was stolen in February and I went up to Regions and asked them to close my account, they didn’t. So then someone was able to completely empty my account with Just an out of state ID. No account number, social, or even signature. Regions then assured me my savings account and the other accounts linked to mine were 100% safe Which was not true. My savings was then completely emptied.
I then made the choice to switch banks. I talked to a different banker, who did not know about all of this. I was able to take all of my money out with just my ID. No account number, social, or even a signature!! Even though I had a red flag on my account for fraud. THEN Regions sent my account to collections instead of closing it... what?! So now all of the accounts that were linked to mine have been affected. Thanks Regions! You sure know how to keep my money safe! I've been with Regions for about 5 years now, and this is the ABSOLUTE last straw. From the way they seem to "hide" pending transactions to make you overspend and then suddenly they ALL post and run you into the negative to this last situation. I cannot BELIEVE how easy it is for them to cover the tracks of THIEVES. My account was hacked and there were two unauthorized charges made on my account. I check my account every day and I caught these two transactions the day they were made, literally HOURS BEFORE.
I called them immediately. I was then told that because they were still pending, I couldn't dispute them yet. That just wasn't a good enough answer for me, so I contacted both companies and question myself leaving messages and emails. The next morning, I called Regions again to dispute one of the transactions that had posted. Then when I requested to have it expedited, because this was my rent money I needed back, she told me since my account wasn't overdrawn, she couldn't expedite it. I was FURIOUS!!! Eventually the agent advised for me to process the payment and she would have it force paid. And I did. She's pretty much the ONLY agent that was willing to help, and I hope she finds something better than a job that covers for CRIMINALS.
The NEXT morning, I called AGAIN to confirm that my rent was being force paid, which it was. The other transaction was STILL pending so I STILL couldn't dispute it. The NEXT morning I called, spoke with another agent who so-called put in an expedited dispute, then told me that the first dispute had been denied because they felt "I didn't respond quick enough since I called them at 6 pm"... she literally said that they assumed since they saw I logged in earlier that day, I should've seen the transactions earlier. I said, "Ma'am, my account was HACKED. I have my debit card right in front of me which means they probably got into my account! Logging in at 6 pm was the first time I had logged in all day and when I saw it, I immediately contacted you, isn't that your policy!?"
And fortunately that same day, one company ended up complying and was kind enough to provide me all the information that was used to process that order which included the blatantly random shipping address in a totally different state! And I told this to the agent to which she advised to have me forward to their department which I DID.
I called later that same day asking if they would at the very least give me a temporary credit to get my account current while they "so-called investigated" my case to which I was blatantly told no. THIS particular agent said that order to bring my account current, she would have to put in ** amount of dollars. A duh, that's how much was STOLEN FROM ME. Then she told me she has no authority to do so, and the ones who do "don't speak to the public". -_____-" What?
And it gets even MORE absurd. I called them tonight, not too long ago, spoke with a Quinton in the credit card department who completely understood me and reasoned that their policy should be to allow me a temporary credit while they investigated. But unfortunately, very kind Quinton had to transfer me to a very rude Daniel in the debit card department who flat out told me (verbatim), "Just because you file a claim doesn't mean you get your money back". I said, "Do you even hear yourself covering for THIEVES!? Do you HEAR YOURSELF making it easy for evildoers to do even more EVIL!?" He told me that my second dispute had ALSO been denied because they never received my email. Apparently, it got quarantined, is how he put it.
My account is overdrawn about $1,200 and I will not pay a single cent of it. I'm going to find a different bank and if this issue with Regions holds me up, I WILL SUE. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE FOR THE STRESS THEY'VE PUT ME THROUGH. I have all my documentations, police reports, and at least one of the companies in question on my side. Truth will prevail, so I advise Regions to let me go in peace before I TRULY light a fire under them. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE and I advise anyone to NOT bank with them. I thought they were a great bank too, but until you REALLY have an emergency, you will QUICKLY find out how little they care about you. RUN PEOPLE. RUN!!!

I've never left a review for anything in my life but I feel not leaving a review about how terrible Regions is would be a public disservice. I have had Regions for almost 4 years and, while there were isolated instances, the service had been okay. In 2018, I have had to file five complaints. Regions deposited a $3500 refund from my college into the wrong account, couldn't find where they put it for the 3-4 business days, and took no responsibility in any of it.
In addition, Regions has mis-deposited 2 of my work checks, given me the wrong routing number for my direct deposits, cc'ed me on emails that should only be rotated internally within employees, and currently mailed my replacement debit card to the wrong location. My card is now expired and I don't have access to any money at all until they're able to "locate my card" and send me another one, which should take 5-10 business days. Completely unacceptable. I've never experienced service this bad, it's almost comical. I would feel safer putting my money in a mattress than to ever let Regions look after a penny of my money.

To start, I want to be clear that I usually don't complain about customer service. I've worked in the food industry in the past and have seen the worst of the worst, and I have a great deal of inherent respect for everyone I come across and treat them accordingly. I'm friendly and courteous with the establishments that provide me a service, but after so many times of being given the runaround I feel others should know. I've been banking with Regions since I opened my own checking account as a freshman in college. I've always stuck with it just because it's a hassle to move everything to a new account, but at this point, I'm willing to go through the hassle because that will be less of one than dealing with Regions customer service one more time. The account features are good- mobile banking is functional but not the best, but you can deposit checks from your phone or a SmartDeposit ATM.
For immediate availability of checks deposited from your phone, there's a minimum of $5, but the last deposit I made ($250) cost $10. Overnight processing is $3, but it's usually 2 business days before that option is available. Standard availability is $0 but you might as well just take it to a location or get it cashed, as it takes 2-5 days to process. The SmartDeposit ATM is a great feature for depositing cash since those funds are available immediately as long as they're made before 8pm. Online banking is good too, but again, not the best.
The reason I'm so tired of banking here is because the customer service is extremely subpar. Unless you get the personal number of someone at your local branch, you have to call the 1-800 number known as the "Greenline," and I've never had a phone call on this hotline that lasted less than half an hour for even minimal things. If you need help with anything of this nature, be prepared to block out an hour or so of your day. The last straw for me happened this week when one of my subscriptions didn't update correctly (I had previously chosen the $100/year Microsoft Office package, but was unsure that I'd need it for another year, so I switched to $9.99/month). Microsoft didn't update the subscription properly and charged the $100. I spoke with them and within 5 minutes, they issued a refund and updated my preferences (Microsoft has great customer service!).
I made Regions aware of the situation the same day, and after almost a full 24 hours after sending a message through their "message center" online, was told in a very roundabout way that there would be a $36 NSF fee charged regardless of a refund since the transaction overdrew my account. I was then told that if I wanted the fee refunded, I would be welcome to go through the fee refund process, which will inevitably take an hour or two initially and then 1-2 business days to process, and will not be worth the $36 Regions will be gaining off of me from the mistake of someone else. Save yourself the time and bank elsewhere if you can.

So when I started my job I was just about broke. I wanted to use a bank smaller bank because I thought it would be more personable. I was so wrong. I deposited about 3 weeks of work in my account to catch up on some bills. Working for the state we are only paid once a month on the first of the month. I ran out of money waiting for March 1 and to get me back and forth to work I overdrew my acct. from getting gas. I think $57. Barely two weeks later the day before my direct deposit went in the bank closed my acct. Did not tell me they were closing my account. Did not ask me if could put money in. Nothing. Just closed it. This was my first check for approx. $3000 and waking up March 1 it was not there. I was frantic.
I went to the bank on McKinney in Dallas, and spoke to the manager Ms. **. She and the district manager lied straight to my face and said they can't see my check and that it was bounced back to Austin the capital of Texas and our HR. Oh great. So I had to wait for it to show up with them which could take a couple of days. To be charged, and money isn’t available, nothing can be taken out by overdraft protection. Well apparently they have this thing called NSF, where it’s a contract with other businesses that allows an overdraft by default. I just can’t accept that. Also. I’ll have money Avalon my account one moment and the next thing I know, it’s just gone. They’ll say that money has been returned and try to point to me in my summary etc where it’s returned. Updated on [03/24/2018]: Ok. I know I left a review some weeks ago. I finally made a complaint to one of the Regions representatives. I had another issue occur far as Regions making a retry payment when I already had funds in my account. The transfer was to pay rent. Needless to say, my bank paid over 1200.00 in rent to our landlord through PayPal, after I already paid rent with a one time debit pay. So I told the representative that I had funds in there and she said they’ll return it. Ok, days later nothing and I called again. They said that the funds were returned but we made purchases and they were STILL pending. So my rent money, paid for things that were already suppose to be deducted! I said why aren't they cleared?
I had over 900.00 dollars in my account. She said that the mobile app or site will not show accurate balance and to just write down how much we’re spending so we don’t get overdrafts etc. She said A LOT of Regions' customers complain about this issue and to be pretty much remedy this issue is to keep up with how much you’re spending so funds can be there. I told her that’s messed up that the bank doesn’t clear the purchases when they’re made because if it’s not cleared and someone’s making swipes purchases, it’s going to put them in overdraft status where they have monies in there. Then she suggested to open another account outside of Regions. Wow. We already did because this is ridiculous.

In December my online banking showed a balance that apparently was incorrect and I overdrafted on my account... fine and dandy until all these other "pending" transactions that had debited from my account the day I swiped my card well before I overdrafted started incurring overdraft fees. I was charged for 9 different overdraft items even though they had already come out of my account before it was in a negative balance. I went to the local branch and complained and they could not explain $180 of overdraft fees and said they would credit the charges. So I think I'm done and at least got some of the charges reversed... WRONG. The very next day $80 of the $180 they refunded was taken with a different fee. There were no items pending, no transactions made.
They just didn't want to give me back money they stole. So once again I go to the local branch only this time they say there's nothing they can do. Well I have contacted the attorneys general on this and I have screenshot proof of this banks scam with the pending charges and bogus overdraft fees. My employer I contacted said that Regions should have returned the funds. It's going on a year so I'm getting legal advice to solve this problem.

Regions Bank will fee you for random things, they also have items pending in your bank for a good week or more so you think you have a certain amount of money but you don't. Then they'll fee you $36 for overdrafting and even if you didn't buy anything since then, because another item got out of pending, they'll fee you again. They will randomly switch your accounts into other things, they switched my free savings into a no interest account and charged me $4 every month without my knowledge or permission. Don't use Regions unless you want to go in debt.

Recently I got this work at home job which was DXC Technology and the manager told me through Google Hangouts that she would send me a check of 1500 to pay for my materials and so I received it and sent it through my bank. Ok somehow there was a hold out on my account and I've called and talk to the representative. The only thing was told to me was that the check was returned but they didn't tell me until I came in today that it was fraud which I didn't know. So the representative was unprofessional, rude. She said, "How you didn't know you open yourself to fraud and you will have to pay that amount back because we are not responsible."
I told the representative, "My husband check came today in the account. Why are we blocked from accessing our funds?" That's so the representative kept bringing up 1500 which is still the reason why we can't login in our account nor get our funds. I am very upset. I will never bank for this company ever again. My husband work check is on the account and they refuse to let us have our money. They refuse to let us close this account. I asked the representative is my account protected but when I turn around they allowed whoever take more out of my account which put my account into -13 balance. I had paid that out of my pocket and still they did not resolve this issue. What bank sits up here and hold somebody's work check. Something needs to be done about this or I'm taking their ** to court.

I am 53 years old, and I have been a Regions customer since I was 18, here in Huntsville, Alabama. I am so sick of the customer service I have received over the past 2 years that I am to the point of moving my account. I am simply FED UP!! My "latest" run-in with Regions was at their Drake Avenue, Huntsville, AL location. I went in to make a wire transfer. As there are no signs to direct a customer to the teller line or to loan officer waiting area, I went straight to the teller line, thinking that's where I should be. I waited 15 minutes... 1 person in front of me, 4 people behind me... ONLY 2 TELLERS working the front counter (equipped for 4 tellers) and one of the 2 tellers working the drive-thru line (equipped separately for 2 more tellers). The drive-thru line never stopped therefore, there was, literally, only 1 teller working the counter.
After waiting 15 minutes, I was told I would have to see a loan officer. So I go and sit, noticing a young couple who had come in maybe 5 minutes before I took a seat. When THE ONLY LOAN OFFICER IN THE BANK AT 10:50AM finally finished up with the customer in her office and came out and asked "who's next", I explained that I had been in the teller line for 15 minutes, waiting to make a wire transfer, and her exact words were "Oh well, you were over there so they're next." OHHH MYYY GOSHHH!!! What kind of COMMON SENSE does it take to realize who was next???
A customer who had been waiting 5 times the amount of time as the other customers!!! COMMON SENSE, PEOPLE!!! I left without being helped with my blood pressure through the roof!! Just a few days ago, I actually went into this location again and actually apologized to a woman named Tammy who I felt I had been rude to, for the same reason as this... customer service. But I am sick of apologizing for matters not caused by me!!!

On September 28, 2017 I totaled my pickup truck and filed a claim with Progressive Insurance. They settled it very quickly and sent me a paper check, which I endorsed and deposited on a Friday. I didn't notice that it was made out to both my husband and I (I am the policyholder and it was my truck, so I didn't think about it being made to both of us). The bank showed the funds as available so I paid a couple of bills. I went to pay for my groceries Sunday morning and my card was declined and showed I only had $28 in my account (the settlement check was just under $8k). I contacted the branch Monday morning and the branch manager checked and made some phone calls.
Apparently they accepted the check, then rejected it because it was missing an endorsement, the check was made out to both of us but I have an individual account, the name on the check didn't match the name on my bank account (the check was made out to my legal name and I go by my middle name). They said that my husband had to come in the bank and sign a paper allowing the money to be deposited. I explained that my husband is paralyzed from the neck down and couldn't come in but his mom was his POA. They said both he and I had to be at the branch with our IDs so they could get us signing on camera. They then told me if that wasn't possible then they would put a 30 day hold on the funds. They suggested that the best way would be for Progressive to stop payment on the check and issue a new one in my name only.
When Progressive attempted to do that, they found that the bank had deposited the check and it was shown as deposited and cleared, so they couldn't pay twice on the same claim. At that point they said all I could do was wait out the 30 days and then they would release the funds back to Progressive. The hold was up November 20 and Regions debited the funds from my account. A couple of weeks later I contacted Progressive to find out why I hadn't gotten a new check and they said they had not received the refund yet. A few phone calls later, we were informed that Regions was still sitting on the funds and hadn't attempted to contact me or Progressive. I only knew that it was debited because of my online statement.
The Progressive claims agent was given an email of a woman who handled the refunds, and was told to contact them with the amount of the check and an address to send the refund to, then Progressive could issue a new check. Well, it has been almost 2 weeks since the agent sent the email, and she has not heard anything in reply. Regions has made this a horrible process and I am totally frustrated. Why they didn't just refuse the check in the first place is beyond me. They could have either returned it to me for the additional endorsement or sent it back to Progressive, but they have stretched this out over 2 months. And to tell me to have Progressive stop payment on the check and then deposit it right after that without giving Progressive a chance to do anything is very irresponsible. I should state that I have no issues with anyone at the branch level.
They have been very helpful and have gone above and beyond to resolve this. The problem is with the "back office" and other departments who have refused to do the right thing and get the funds back to Progressive. I have banked with Regions and its predecessors for over 40 years, and this is the worst experience I have ever had with any of them. I would not recommend this bank to anyone. I only gave 2 stars because of the help I received at the branch level.

The bank told me to opt out of overdraft protection so I requested to and it was on a recorded line. Regions recorded line at that. Well they never performed any changes to my account as they said they would and it would take 24 hours today to go into effect. Since then I have paid $762.00 in overdraft fees and due to their inaccurate mobile banking the statements are always inaccurate. Ok so HEB put the check through again and it cleared. So. Three days later there's a $30 check and a $36 check charge. I called Regions and they said, "HEB wrote their own check on your account for their overdraft fees"... say what?!! Regions allowed HEB to write a check on my account! So that means anyone can write a check on my account and Regions said "yes". I also got a payday loan from the Cash Store. I gave a check as collateral. They tried to take out the full amount, not the $90.63.
So we stopped payment on the check. The Cash Store debited our account by changing the check number. Regions said "yeah, they can do that and keep changing the number as often as they want." Wait. Changing check numbers is illegal and fraud. Regions allowed these companies to defraud our account. Regions app sucks. They take out the money then put it back in pending. I had an account with them for 4 years. We are active duty military and moved to an area far away from a Regions branch. I switched to Navy Fed and kept my Regions account open because I have one client who has Regions also and preferred to be able to pay me by transferring into that account. I started noticing fees were occurring once a month in the amount of $8. Apparently this fee is because I wasn't swiping my card enough (10 times per month). I decided to close the account. I called, I was told by a Regions representative I could either empty the account "at a gas station or something" or I could be mailed a check. I agreed to have a check mailed. Fast forward three weeks and that client told me they transferred money into this account that is supposed to be closed. I call and am told they just shut my card down.
Now I have no access to my money so I call. A REGIONS ONLINE BANKER tells me to empty the account into my Navy Fed account via pop money, sans $1 to pay a transfer fee, then AFTER the transfer is complete I am told that my account won't shut down until it has been inactive for 30 days so the $8 fee will occur again, except now there is an empty account so I will incur a fee on top of that fee for the account being empty.
Now I'm asking to speak to a supervisor. I am transferred to someone named Ti who is the least professional human being I have ever dealt with. She's rude, condescending, and refusing to help. I ask to speak to her supervisor who conveniently "isn't in the office". Now I am on the phone again trying to cancel the transfer because I need to leave that $8 in an account I don't use so they can take it sometime in the 30 days I have to wait to close my account. All over the mailed advertisement it stated, without stipulation, that I could open an account ONLINE or OVER THE PHONE and gave info for each. The online site told me that the promo code wasn't valid (which it was as printed on the mailer and not expired) so I phoned to open the account. I first gave my social security # to the person that answered along with my address, etc. She then confirmed which account I wanted, explained how I could electronically transfer funds into the account to avoid traveling into the bank. Then she transferred me to someone else.
After a long time on hold, this new unfriendly person asked me for THE EXACT SAME INFORMATION. Worse than that, the conversation started out, " Hello, how can I help you?" I had to actually tell this person from the beginning why I was calling. It took a while to get her to understand why I was calling, but finally she asked me if I had received an email voucher confirming that I received my offer. I read to her the first line of the email "Thank you for registering..." She continued to ask me if I had a voucher, and I continued to tell her that I did not see the word "voucher" on anything. Eventually, she admitted that the "registration" email was what she was referring to.
After taking up a lot of my time, she told me that I have to go into a branch to open an account because my identity can't be verified. SERIOUSLY? I understand that this is for my protection, however, DO NOT SEND ME AN ADVERTISEMENT TELLING ME THAT AN ACCOUNT CAN BE OPENED UP ON THE PHONE OR ONLINE. It should say: "Once in a while we can open up your account without you traveling to the branch."
I see why they are having to pay people to become customers! They would not provide the loan commitment and still haven't! They have been so unprofessional and rude. They said they don't answer any questions to me because I'm not the buyer. Next, they will not provide documentation as to why they automatically invoked the 10 day extension on close. This was done with absolutely no communication. Next, when asked directly why, they said the buyer didn't have docs into them in time. THAT is on the buyer and does NOT qualify for an extension under current guidelines. Someone needs to look into Regions Bank's newest scam of charging overdrafts for "pending" charges, when the bank is allowing those "pending" charges to pend for days. When reviewing online banking, you will notice charges that have been processed on one day - then the next are "pending." Money will have been taken out of the account for the processed charge, but then as it is item is placed back as "pending," Regions will charge an overdraft fee for another item that comes through - when there is money in the account to cover the item is the "pending" item that was already processed the day before was not still "pending."
I believe this is the newest scam, much like the well litigated overdraft fee class action cases from a few years ago. This needs to be dealt with and class action suits need to be brought. I - for one - will be changing banks but have been keeping a record through printouts of these types of transactions. I'm ready once a class action suit is filed. Then they allowed her to delete herself as an authorized user without ever contacting me once. Leaving me solely responsible for a credit card bill that someone else ran up. Then they would not give me a copy of the charges so I could personally go after the person that ACTUALLY ran the card up. I will continue to post this everywhere possible until I get my money back or they give me a copy of the charges!!!

We've never experienced such a lack of professionalism, courtesy, or ethics as we have in the past few months at the hands of Regions bank! After a banking relationship of over 20 years, an incompetent employee of an unrelated business from our personal accounts, created a nightmare situation, that has been completely resolved, however, Regions has basically said that they will supply us what we need to find another bank! Since that time we've been told by several other banks and accountants, that this is Regions' way of weeding out 'old money' to bring in new money. We've also been asked by so many businesses in our area as to why we're still with Regions, and now we know why! While you may be new money now, at some point you will be old money, and you will be kicked to the curb, no matter how much money you have! (in our case over $3,000,000 in combined businesses and associated accounts).

Cash some stock in and they wire me my money to my Regions Account. Per online banking, the funds were available on Wednesday. I went by a branch to withdraw some of the funds, I was told I could not have the funds, that someone would reach out to me. Well, the next day came, I had not heard from anyone, so I went to the branch where I had opened my account. The branch manager pulled my account up, said it was because there had not been any recent activities in the account before the wire came in. She emailed the department to release my funds. I went back to work. Later I received a call from her saying the funds were frozen until the wire transfer was validated. How long will that take? She didn't know. Friday - no update, Monday - no release date, Tuesday - still validating. Needless to say, I was getting frustrated. I had never had a wire transfer take this lone to be validated, even ones coming from China!
This was coming from Australia, straight from the bank of the company I had stock in. Give me a break! How long does it take to verify the funds are legit? Sad thing, the branch manager could only email the wire department, had no telephone number that I could call and talk to. The customer service number is a joke! When you do finally get a human, they just call the branch manager! Everyone is kept in the dark about everything! I've dealt with smaller banks that handled international wires faster and more efficient that this bank! If and when I ever get my money, this account will be closed! Then they charge me for the wire transfer the original date they received the money... so they have been earning interest on my money for a week while it has been costing me money for not being able to access my money... MY MONEY!

Last June I was caught in a work at home scam and the company that scammed me took $100 saying they needed it in order to send my information to get started with their business. I was suppose to get the info as soon as I paid but after waiting three days I never received the info. I called customer service and demanded for a refund after learning that the company was a complete scam. I argued with them for three hours and they would only give me back $50. I said "Ok whatever" and hung up. Then, I filed a dispute with Regions to get the other $50 back. They said it would probably take a month to get the money back, but it was in my account 5 days later. They told me they were siding with me and gave my other $50 back.
Fast forward to October, I get a letter in the mail stating that they suddenly found no fault with the company and said they were taking the $50 back, but they actually took the full $100 back. I had no money in my account and ended up with -$160. I immediately switched my direct deposit to another bank because I thought it was complete crap that they would send a letter several months later saying they were taking my money back. So when Monday comes, I'm charged with 10 overdrafts. It appeared that a monthly auto-payment hit my account 2 days early on a Monday night. Even though that was the last transaction of the 3 days, they paid the electronic check first, therefore nullifying the available balance for all my previous purchases. However, once you click on my LOC account, it says I have a minimum balance due on a $0.00 balance account? Turns out I was charged not only an annual fee but a late fee! I never received a notice for either of these. No email, no snail mail.
I've never been late on payments and asked to at least have the late fee waived. They told me no because it wasn't bank error and that I need to visit a branch! Completely disappointed. Regions online banking transactions data are not being displayed to consumer accurately. I made the mistake of relying on this data to transfer money from one account to another on the day a check posted to the account. The problem is that for most transactions the items show as pending until after midnight when the bank syncs its servers. The day my check appeared as pending, I transferred the funds which also showed as pending for the same day. At midnight when the servers synced, my transfer shows as complete, the check shows as returned NSF, (they collected a $36 fee), and now show the check as posting the day before it was even shown as pending. On that day, no data was displayed at all.
To me this is a common practice of postdating to collect a fee and really should be investigated. At the very least, it is one of many online practices that Regions has used to erode my trust. I realize I could have avoided this situation by having the funds in the account when I wrote the check like the responsible person my parents raised, but that doesn't absolve Regions from creating a "Technicality" where if their customers rely on the data they choose to show, they can create an opportunity to collect more overdrafts and returned check fees.

I have seen at least a dozen reviews (here and on other sites) about how Regions seems to 'double charge' online transactions. I thought I was the only one. Up until about a month ago, I have never used Overdraft Protection, and never had a problem with the processing of payments/purchases. I used to work at a Credit Union, transactions (especially ACHs) should NOT take three, sometimes even four business days to process. Below are two examples:
1. I am subscribed to a monthly subscription service. They draw their payment on the first day of every month (excluding holidays, of course). I get an email receipt from the subscription company every month on the first, then Regions takes the $10 and makes it unavailable, like normal. The problem is: it will be 'pending' for 2 days until it is processed AGAIN on the 3rd. Then they draw me negative and charge me the $36 fee. The funds were IN THE ACCOUNT when the transaction occurred, and already moved out of my unavailable balance.
2. I pay all of my bills online by electronic check, which are processed in 24 business hours. My car payment and two credit car payments (from two different financial institutions) will all process the check within almost exactly 24 business hours. Regions on the other hand, will keep these transactions 'pending' for DAYS, literally three, almost four business days.
I made a credit card payment (electronic check - which are processed in 24 business hours) early in the morning, on the 10th of Feb. (Friday). Normally, this check would process AT THE LATEST, Monday evening. I received an email from the credit card company on Monday stating they received my payment. I have screen shots of the confirmation email, as well as the electronic check STILL PENDING on Tuesday evening. I believe that Regions, somehow, are slowing down the processing of transactions. They are robbing people of their hard earned money and trapping them in a cycle of debt. It's hard to get out of living in the negative when you're giving the bank a ton of overdraft fees. Something really needs to be done about this.

Another thing that really concerned me, was the fact that in order to speak to someone, you must punch in your Social Security Number. And if you're not a customer, they STILL want you to punch in your SS#. That is very suspicious and I do not trust an institution where they are asking for such personal information. I have been a Regions Bank account holder since September 2016 and was okay with the account until I added their OD feature. After adding the feature naturally I tried to use it but kept getting declined. Instead of charging the $36 OD fee for the transaction, which I would have been okay with had they paid the item, they declined to pay the item and charged a $36 returned item fee which is non refundable even if they don't pay the transaction.
Here's my complaint, I have used OD on many accounts with many different banks and never was denied a transaction but with regions they refuse to pay any of the transactions but then charges the returned item fee. So to me it's still getting the OD charge fee without clearing the item. Why make a consumer think they have the coverage only to use it, be denied, then charged a different kind of fee that just so happens to be the same amount as the OD fee they charge when they pay the item. This does not seem right and I cannot process the way they have this setup. I called the bank several times to make sure I have the OD setup and available to me to use and each time they confirmed yes. I would never have attempted to OD my account if I knew for sure they would not honor it via the OD feature.
Yes the simple solution DO NOT attempt transactions when the funds are not available in the account. Another simple solution DO NOT say that an account has OD protection when it really doesn't only to have people use it be denied and charged some other kind of fee. This process has racked up almost $150.00 in OD fees which as a disabled person receiving SS can't necessarily afford. And I still have to pay the things I attempted to pay with the OD protection. The system is rigged.

With this, you put $250 into an account as collateral and they give you $250 in return as a "loan". Well you make monthly payments on that $250. Which now means the bank has $500 of your money. You paid them $250 for them to give you $250. And then, you "pay off the loan" by making small payments over 6 months to add to $250. At the end you would think you got your collateral back in return. Breaking almost even (if you don't count the small amount of interest). So, it should go, you give them $250, they give you $250. (Even) then, you pay off the $250 they gave you. (You have now given $500) and then they return your original $250 (making it $500 and you are once again, even.)
But that's not how it worked... I gave them the $250, they gave me the $250. Then over the 6 months, I paid my payments (on time every time) and have yet to receive my $250 collateral back. So, now, I'm out $250 freaking dollars! Wtf!!! How the heck am I supposed go about getting my money back!!! I just sold my car, a vehicle that had been paid off several years ago. However, the buyer could not transfer title into his name because Regions had failed to turn in the release of lien and had filled out the space on the title for lien holders. I had to go to Regions, get a notarized release of lien, submit it to the DMV (+$10 fee), and tell the buyer that it will be 4 to 6 weeks before a new title arrives. Regions claimed that they shouldn't have to do a release of lien since they "signed" the title. Now I have a buyer in a different city, in a different state, with the car and no way to title it. Region's mistake could cause me to not only lose the sale of my car, but hinder my ability to buy my new car without the proceeds of the sale of my old car. This is just the latest in a LONG list of mistakes that Regions has made.
When I got my mortgage from them several years ago, they gave me a free checking acct. I made a small deposit of $500. Before I could write even one check on the acct, I received a notice that I was over-drafted by $9,500. Someone at regions had miskeyed an acct number. I understood that mistakes happen. But, I was repeatedly told that it would be corrected. But it took weeks for Regions to correct it. I closed the acct. When I re-financed a new mortgage, Regions had my last name incorrect. (They had my married name instead of my maiden name.) I had been divorced for years and had filled out paperwork in my maiden name. I caught the mistake and was told it would be corrected. I received a new payment book... with the wrong name. Another complaint, another promise. It took 4 times for them to get my correct name on the visible paperwork.
After a few years, I decided to look into a home improvement loan. I discover then that Regions had filed my deed under the wrong name and never corrected it legally. I had to hire an abstract company to correct it. Regions only reimbursed me for $50 of that cost. Regions has not missed an opportunity to fail and even worse than their 100% failure rate is their unwillingness or inability to correct these failures. My aunt had 2 accounts with Regions, which were also messed up. They are, by far, the absolute worst business I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

I have been a customer with Regions for many years now and have never had problems until this year. I will have money in my account to cover my charges, but if I have something in the pending area that hasn't cleared yet, that make my pending balance negative, then everything they clear (even though the balance is enough to cover what they cleared) I get charged a NSF fee because my pending balance is negative even if it is by a few cents, which just makes things worse. They have never done this to me until this year. They have hit me for over $700 this year already. I have talked to them about this several times already this year and keep getting told there is nothing they can do about it.
They hit my daughter this weekend for almost $200, and her pending balance was only negative 25 cents, but they cleared several items and charged her for it even though she had the money to cover it. I have printed off screen prints of every time they do this, to show what is going on. I will be closing this account after Christmas and moving to another bank.

I am so aggravated with Regions Bank. Since September I have had numerous problems. I order something from Amazon. It takes 5 days for it to process by my bank. For example I order something on Friday. It process on Amazon side. But my bank says the authorization falls off after 3 days. By Tuesday the money is credited back to my account, not even 3 business days, then is reprocessed on Thursday or Friday. Now the bank says it's Amazon, Amazon says it's the bank. I call Amazon. They give me the date and time the authorization comes out on Tuesday after 1 which makes it well after 2 p.m. our time. So why does it take so long? The bank says Amazon lets the authorization fall off. I hardly believe that when I have a date and time.
So I go to the bank 3 different times. They look at me like I have a 3rd eye. They blame Amazon. The last time the lady gave me a lesson in keeping a register THAT is not the reason I went there! Plus she rolled her eyes at me when I reminded her of something. That is not customer service! I told her to forget it and walked out. Now everything from Friday is pending and should not be. I'm changing banks today.

This bank is too cheap to hire adequate help. I stand in line for over a half hour each Friday to make a deposit, and the drive-thru takes even longer. I've tried going to branches in other nearby towns, but their cheapness seems to be an epidemic. I'll be going somewhere else soon. It's very bad business to make people wait in such long lines.

I have a small business account and have had more problems with Regions than you could imagine. No one inside the branch has a clue how to help. I have to involve several other banks to have these issues corrected and has ultimately costs me time and money. Now I get a small check deposited into my personal account and they have put it in the fraud department. So when I ask why, they say "oh it was randomly chosen and by the way - We have no idea when you can access these funds either." They have put numerous checks on hold causing me not to be able to operate and they could care less. Would not recommend my worst enemy to bank here.

For the second time, in a short few months, I am writing a negative review of Regions Bank. We have been long time customers of Regions and had no complaints until this year. We had an extremely frustrating experience with them recently when we sold one home and financed a new mortgage. I won't repeat the details here, but I will say that I will never finance anything with Regions again. Now, we have received information from Regions that they incorrectly reported mortgage interest paid in 2014 to the IRS. Not just our account, but everyone, apparently. So, now we have to deal with this latest incompetency by Regions Bank. Suffice it to say, I will be shopping for a new bank, soon.

I am an international customer from Regions Bank since it was First Alabama Bank. The bank created an automatic customer service for its VISA-REGIONS card that requires a TELEPHONE PIN NUMBER WHICH THEY HAVE NEVER INFORMED ME, THAT PIN THAT IS DIFFERENT THAN THE USUAL PIN NUMBER USED FOR PURCHASES. The system is accessible by toll-free telephone number that works only in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, but the telephone number informed by REGIONS BANK doesn't work from Brazil and many other countries that require a NON Toll Free number to make the calls (I would pay the calls but the bank doesn't inform a NON TOLL FREE NUMBER THAT I NEED to call).
I have many issues to solve about my card, but I can not call the bank, probably because they have too many fraud cases to solve as the ones including Mr Tom **, Mike ** and Jeff **, which are just the small visible part of the iceberg, so they can not pay attention and solve the access problem of an international customer. I hope that this post contributes for REGIONS working better. Best regards.

I have been banking with Regions for 16 yrs... I get 10,000 checks every 3 to 6 yrs from my father. I have never had any problems with Regions when I deposit my this check. But just this week... I deposit on a Thursday, wake up on a Saturday to show my account negative 9 thousand and something. I call the 800 customer service, which they tell me they placed it on hold won't be released for over 10 days... WHAT? I explained to them how the branch printed me a receipt on how money would be available. They could not help me. Went to the branch on Monday. They confirm they are holding the whole amount. While the bank the check was written on has released the money to Regions. WHY I ask... cause they believe the check won't clear. I explained that I spoke with the other bank and my father and the money was taken from his account 2 days after it was deposited.
So now I have things bouncing... charges. But the one thing is when this check clears, I will close this account. I feel like I went through a divorce. I was with this bank longer than my marriage. I was loyal, but they weren't... They didn't honor the printed deposit paper of how/when money would be in account. Even when the other bank where check was drawn on went beyond their duty and called branch mgr to say we released that money to my account. He stated he would release hold, but that was 3 days ago... so that there is 2 times they can't keep their word. Just beware.

First off, I'd like to say that I became a member of this website for the sole purpose of reviewing Regions and to my surprise there were dozens, if not hundreds, of complaints just like mine. I'm a college student so I don't have much money but I'm very good at keeping track of my finances. This week I had a posted balance of $200 in my checking and one pending charge of $100. My available balance was $100 and I used it to fund four transactions totaling $20. To my surprise, I woke up the next morning to find I overdrew by $20 and was charged a total of $144 in fees. Apparently there were several charges still pending on my account but the charges that I was told were pending by customer service had already been taken from my account and were no longer pending (or at least that's what their online banking website said).
The next day I was slapped with an additional $72 overdraft fee but after four phone calls was able to get it reversed after explaining to customer service that the Regions online banking website gave me a false balance and failed to show any pending charges. I'm still very confused on what happened to $80 in my account. They could not give me a clear answer and kept running in circles when I questioned them, and now I am stuck having to pay $144 in fees. Regions said it was neither their fault or mine but rather it was a "merchant issue" and I would have to contact the merchant in order to have my account credited for the $144 fee they hit me with.
This bank is ran by the most incompetent, greedy bunch of clowns that you could find. Yes, they're greedy even by banker's standards. If you have two charges totaling $1.00 that causes you to overdraw, you can say goodbye to $72. I was also charged a $60 fee in my savings account from absolutely nowhere a few months back. The website referred to it as an "annual fee". I'd urge anyone who's considering trusting Regions with their money to reconsider, they have no respect for their customers and I will be closing my accounts there soon. Hell, you're better off handing it over to charity than to let these people get ahold of it. At least it'll go to good use.

I had been with Chase for a while, but could not resist, besides I had banked with Regions before, & did not have problems back then, so why not?! I was impressed by all Regions had to offer, other than banking alone. I made sure that I came at the beginning of the month, so that it should have been no problem with Social Security depositing my money the next month, but to my dismay I had to fix that issue myself, no problem.
When I opened my account I inquired about the online ad & was assured that I would receive $200.00 & an additional $50 for referring my son. I received the referral card, but not the $200.00 as advertised. When I went into the Branch I was told that I could not get both & was rudely interrupted when I tried to ask anything further about it. I am disappointed in the poor Customer Service from the Branch & call center. Neither appeared to want to help, or care. The Branch is closing, but reflects Regions anywhere. Beware...

How is it possible that you can get an NSF fee on pending items? I simply don't get it. I have a transaction pending, that they claim the amount is deducted from the true available balance - which creates the "available balance to pay check and other items on that date". Then I got hit for THREE NSF items, when my ending balance is still positive AFTER the NSF fees were applied. Totally stumped about this. Seems unfair. This never used to happen before. It was always about actual posted transactions. Seems as though the banks are always moving the bar.

After researching the company (Work At Home Paycheck aka WAH paycheck) I found out that the whole thing was a scam and that if I didn't cancel it immediately I'd lose a lot more money. I called the company and demanded a refund and argued with them for almost an hour and they said all they could do was give me half of my money back. The next day I called regions and filed a debit card transaction dispute. I explained to the lady that the program was "verified" on a job posting site, which made me believe it was legit. Anyway, a week after I filed the dispute I got a letter from Regions saying they would give me the other half of my refund back. I thought that was the end of it.
Well, here we are almost 4 months later, and today I got a letter from Regions saying that they found no error occurred and the letter stated that $97 would be taken out of my checking account on October 1st and given back to the company that takes everyone's money. I'm EXTREMELY angry. I don't have any money in my checking account (I'm actually -$160). I stopped putting my direct deposit in there when I found a prepaid debit card that will give me my paycheck two days early. Regions is constantly screwing me over. I met up with her, gave her the check, shortly after she gave me cash and I went by Regions and asked to stop the check, that I already had cash for it. The cashier told me to let the check clear and it would only cost me $15. I said if you stop the check, it shouldn't cost anything. She said it was too late. Always were greeted by the branch managers with high respect. Morrison Ave Branch in Hammond, College Drive Branch in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Then came a downfall, went from Premier Customer to a customer with NO respect.
The bank decided on Monday, March 21st at 12:43pm, "WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION OR FOREWARNING", that they no longer wanted to have a banking relationship with me and "BLOCKED" all four of my accounts without my knowledge. I found out whenever I went to the drive through to purchase some food. I used all four of my debit cards and NONE of them worked. So, I went directly to the bank to discover it was in the process of being closed and there was a no check or debit post status on my account. Mind you every penny in my account was liquidated cash. Cash that Regions Bank would not allow me as a owner to retrieve from MY ACCOUNT.
There were NO explanations given to the branches as to why it was closed. Except for the fact that they no longer wish to have a banking relationship with me and due to some screening or some sort of check, I didn't pass a part of the requirement. Duh, I was with this bank for over 5 yrs. Nothing in my account routine had changed, or activity was in my opinion was questionable.

They treated us and made us feel like we criminals or something. Still to this date, I cannot get any explanation as to why this even occurred or an opportunity to defend myself.
But, after going back and forth, I was told that they was holding my MONEY for an additional two weeks before I could get it. That is a lot of BULL CRAP. I have NO access to my money not a red cent. They don't care about trying to solve the problem at all. And the Branch manager on PLANK Road Branch in Baton Rouge was very rude and degrading when I was trying to discuss my situation with him. He offered no alternative solutions for me to get my funds faster than the two weeks. That is the PLANK ROAD BRANCH IS THE Worst BRANCH IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA. Never use Regions Bank. I had 2 unauthorized transactions on my card. Went into the bank as well as called customer service. They are all a joke. They told me that there is nothing they can do about it. I had another issue as well. That this should have made me left way before now. My daughter Child support is paid via check from her father's account from another Institution. If I take this check into the bank and want cash back, I am charged $11.00. I should have been left. But, I opened my son account as well and this was easier for me to transfer money to his account due to he is in college. I will never never never recommend Regions to anyone. I have closed my account and I will be closing my son as soon as he arrives from college. This is straight bs. Should have listened a long time ago. Only reason I stayed was for my son purposes.

I started out as Regions because my boss wrote our payroll checks from his Regions bank account. Every two weeks I would go in, stand in line forever to fingerprint and cash my check and be charged 1% of my paycheck. Every time the teller would say if you open an account with us you won't be charged. I am a single mother and rely on every penny of my hard earned money so I did. Later on, I decided to open my own business account. After a while, my debit card was compromised and canceled without notice. I called the bank then I began using my personal account for my business. The end result of this bank and my relationship was due to I had over $140 in the bank and I suddenly saw an overdraft charge of $118 and nothing had come through.
I called and they refunded the $118 but not before all of my 'pending' items came through. There would have been enough funds in my account to cover all of these items as well as deposits pending. So I was charged additional fees of $36 each on several items. Now, because I refuse to pay these astronomical fees that were incurred through no fault of my own, they have flagged me in check systems and I cannot cash a check clients have written to me. I deposited $1800 drawn from my husband's business account (he is an attorney) into my daughter's Regions account after hours through the automated teller machine. I got a letter a couple of days later that they were holding the check for 9 days. Even when it cleared my husband's account the VERY NEXT DAY. Their reasoning for it - they had confidential information that the check might not be paid. My husband nor I have ever written a bad check and we are in our 50's. Any kind of excuse just to hold onto someone's money.

I had a small balance because I was going to close my account at Regions. I misadded and was going to be negative 36.00, so I knew there would be a 36 OD fee. So my balance would be around -72 dollars. My balance showed -36 in the evening with my 4 charges of around 20 each already ran through. But in the morning they ran the big one through first, to put me in a smaller negative balance and then the 4 small ones was in the negative balance and this allowed themselves to charge me a 36 OD fee on 4 more items instead of one which made it 5 items to charge a OD fee for a total of 108 dollar so this then out me a negative -144 dollars.
So even though the previous night it showed my 4 charges already cleared on the available category, they decide what goes through and when so they can charge more OD fees. It should clear the bank according to the time the charge was made and if the online balance says what your balance is, you should be able to count on that. They also had the OD fee of 36 already listed when my balance was still positive and taking that fee out of 36 put me in more negative when the smaller ones came back out. What cheap tricks and tactics they use. They are deciding what clears and when so they can just take your money.
One day this bank will pay for ripping off people. They are losing customers so they have found ways to still get money to stay in business by manipulating accounts to their convenience and getting your hard earned money away they can say is legal. I am on the poverty side but not stupid and cannot afford to just let them take it in ways they say are good. When complaining to them they give you a speech of how to avoid the charges. I will close this account ASAP and stay with my other bank Y 12 which is a awesome bank. I advise you to research Regions if you want to avoid OD fees. I would avoid opening any accounts here.

My husband has his own checking account and I have my own checking account. Regions has this new policy that "If one account goes into the negative, they will take from the other account to cover it". I'm not talking about overdraft protection. I'm talking about 2 different checking accounts. We both have direct deposit. My husband was negative in his account and they took my whole check out of my checking account and put it into his account to cover his shortage. Now I have no money... Regions was previously and rightfully sued for re-ordering your transactions in order to get the most insufficient fees from you. I was a victim of that as well. I am now changing my checking account to a visa card based checking acct. I'm DONE with banks stealing my money.

I have banked with Regions for about 6 months. I left BB&T to begin banking with my fiance. I live in Tennessee and I have child support which comes out of my check from work (weekly). My payments were set up by the court (monthly). This creates a discrepancy that the computer system at child support reads and automatically sends out a garnishment. The process for me is always the same, I call child support and they remove the garnishment, once they see what has happened. Regions charged me a $100 garnishment fee, which they refuse to refund even though the garnishment was removed the next day. BB&T never charged me this fee. This is generally referred to as "fleecing" in the consumer. But unfortunately they snuck it into the fine print. I have since gone back to Regions.

Regions Bank just returned my payment and plus has the bad habit to charge 36 dollars for the returned check even when you have "funds available to make the transaction". I called the company and explained the situation. They knew the funds was meant for a payment. Apparently, after the company that took the money out of my company, my account was on the negative balance. So, the next day I went over their bank, deposit the money, and the money was covered. Hours later, Regions decides to "return my check" and charge 36 dollars. I called the company and then, after reviewing the circumstances, they returned my money to my account and they knew the money was for a payments. Let's say, the payment was due for the 4th and the issue happened on the 5th.
So the money was back at my account, and left my money over there. Days later, they take the money out and a day later, Regions take the -5 dollars feed for the monthly account maintenance, but of course, unfortunately, I was out of town working and had no way to connect to my account. So, I verify my account after I return from work and notice the issue again. I contacted the bank again, and they said that's not their fault. I explained of the circumstances that happened few days ago. I told them, "Fine. Keep the money!! But you lost a customer." I will never ever sign with Regions Bank!! In my 12 years of experience with banks, this is the first time that has happened to me. Never had that problem with Wells Fargo, or any other banks. Just too ridiculous, how they don't care for their customers but for their own greed for more money.

If you want to keep a few dollars in a checking account at Regions - they can handle that. It does not require any depth or customer service. But - if you ever expect to communicate with Regions - during or after a significant transaction you can forget about it. They are wonderful prior to getting your business - all peaches and cream. Once locked in they become the customer service group from Satan's backyard. Trying to contact individual branches while traveling is not allowed and sending emails that are reported "never received" are the norm.
By the way - I contacted a branch in Athens, GA three days prior to my visit to Athens - wanted to give them plenty of time to make sure I could withdraw $17,000 in cash. Should be no problem right. I was told NO! They had already ordered their cash for the week. I called on a Monday morning - start of the business week - and was denied the ability to get my own cash. They said I would have to take a cashiers check. The arrogance at Regions Bank is palpable. I feel foolish myself now - I closed an account at another bank for issues that were disturbing - my mistake, I would have been much better off to stay where I was.

Every time you deal with Regions Bank it seems that the "service they provide" you with in the long run costs you the consumer money. I tried the new mobile banking app and wanted it to be available right away. One it takes 30 mins. to an hour for the deposit to go through and even then you must agree to pay the $5.00 fee. If you use standard deposit the cost is $.50. Now, $.50 might seem small but if you have to pay this every time it adds up in no time. The only company just as bad if not worse is AT&T. They assured me that my acct will be closed and I wouldn't have anything to worry about, only to find out they closed the wrong acct and they were still trying to take money out the acct even though it was zero balance.
I went back to the ranch to explain everything and once again they stated everything is going to be okay. Went into the bank the following week to get a money order, to my surprise they tell me that my acct is overdrawn 100.00 (on the acct that was supposed to close). I am a fairly new customer to Regions bank. I opened a savings account when our bank, Bank of America, closed many of the local branches. I opened the savings account and deposited our savings and planned to use Regions bank for our home mortgage as well. After applying and getting pre-qualified for a home loan our Mortgage Loan Originator either quit or was fired but she knowingly took all our private and confidential documents with her to her new bank. This was quite disturbing as I never agreed to work with her new bank and specifically moved all our money to Regions Bank as we wanted to use that bank for our home mortgage.
I complained to our new Mortgage Loan Originator and my complaint was passed to the Manager. Days then weeks went by with no acknowledgment of the complaint, not one person at Regions bank addressed the fact that our personal and confidential documents were compromised, all of our income tax records, our pay stubs, copy of drivers licenses our entire file was taken from Regions bank to her new place of employment American Bank of Huntsville. Shortly after her move she stopped emailing me in reference to a home mortgage so I have no idea what she did with our private information.
I continued to work with Regions Bank for a new home loan, after several weeks we decided to send our application to underwriting for actual loan approval so we would be ready to go when we found a home to purchase. This process started early November 2015, by Nov 23 I started to ask when we would have some kind of approval. We ended up submitting more paperwork and still no answers. By Dec 15th I was still waiting on an answer, any answer at this point but nothing. Over the next 3 weeks I send several emails and made several calls in the attempt to get an answer from our new Mortgage Loan Originator but at this point, I was being totally ignored, no replies to my emails and no return of phone calls.
Needless to say by end of the year I became very upset about this as all we wanted was an answer either way as we had found a house we wanted to pursue but did not want to make any offers until we confirmed approval with our bank. I then decided to complain to both the Manager and our Mortgage Loan Originator by email and sure enough got a reply from both of them. After over 8 weeks since my original complaint about the compromise of our confidential documents, the manager now wants to start an investigation and of course our Mortgage Loan Originator wants to start over with our loan application.
I will say I feel the integrity of REGIONS BANK is far below any hope I had for a bank. I feel the customer service was appalling and even more importantly I do not feel as though our private, confidential documents we kept confidential at all. In this day and age of identity theft, I feel my issue with our file being taken out of Regions Bank should have been addressed immediately when I originally complained and I feel Regions Bank totally gave zero concern for our privacy. I am pulling our savings from this Bank and will look for a new mortgage company to work with. Think twice applying for a mortgage with this bank, who knows where your documents will end up!!

I attempted to open a new account online. When I got to the part where I needed to make a payment to open the account the website would take it then go back to the previous page. I did this multiple times before it finally went through but just told me it was declined, which wasn't possible. I decided to contact tech support in an online chat who told me if I got to the payment screen my account was approved I just needed to go into the bank or call to fund my account.
A few days later I called to fund my account and was told there was no record of me opening an account so I would have to complete the full process. No problem at all. I get everything finished and the rep tells me I will be receiving my debit card in the mail as well as a signature card that I would need to sign and return immediately. When I asked him what this was for he informed me that it was just stating that I gave permission for the account to be opened. I received my debit card within 5 days of opening so went to the ATM and deposited some money.
A few days later I attempted to pay a bill and it was declined when I knew there was plenty of money in there. Another few days go by and I receive my info packet with my signature card. The first page says that my account will not be eligible for transactions until the card was signed and returned. He NEVER told me this and I specifically asked what it was! Now they have all of my money and I cannot get to it. I shouldn't be able to put money in the account if this is the case! That was extremely frustrating and I was pretty upset that no one informed me of this beforehand, but I let it go and decided to just get the card turned in so I could move forward.
The letter stated that the card could be returned by mail, fax, or taken to a local branch. Because of my situation I thought it best to get it turned in immediately. But I also have a toddler and newborn, so physically walking into the bank wasn't really an option so I went through the drive thru. They tell me that since I opened my account over the phone I was not able to deliver this without coming into the branch so they could see my ID.
First of all, I can hand them my ID in the drive thru. Second, I can mail it or fax it, which doesn't require a photocopy of my ID, but I can't take it to the bank unless I walk in and show them my ID?? How much sense does that make?! And, the first thing the letter said was "thank you for opening an account with us over the phone!" So it isn't like the requirements are different because of how I opened the account. I ended up getting an app on my phone that would allow me to scan and fax the cards last night. As of this morning my account has not changed, so I plan on calling soon to check. If they try to say I have to come in when the letter clearly said I had other options, I will be closing my account and going elsewhere. I have never had this many issues just trying to open a new account. It's ridiculous.

Another case where corporate policy requires their employees to leave their integrity at the door. More specifically, "say what you have to, to score the account, then by policy shaft the customer at every opportunity". I currently have 2 accounts with Regions and plan to close both of them for various customer service issues not being resolved and Regions blaming me for the issues at hand. I will start with saying that until I open my second account I had no problems with Regions whatsoever. However, I open a second account and they did not open the account right. Apparently my account was opened under the policy where you had to have a minimum of $5,000 in the account monthly. I called Regions to ask them why I was having be charged to my account. They said that it was because my account balance did not meet the minimum requirements.
They explained to me that my account was opened up as an account that would need a minimum balance of $5,000 a month. They assured me they would change it and refunded my money. 2 months later I am charged again. I call Regions again and they tell me that they are sorry and that they will fix it. I make sure I tell them I want the account set up the exact way my other account was. I go over certain things that I want from Regions for this account, including the overdraft policies.
Now, not a month later I walk into Walmart make a $7 purchase walk out in the next day, my account's overdrawn $72. They tell me it's an overdraft fee and it is my fault for not being clear with what or how I stated I wanted the overdraft policies to be. At this point, they tell me that they will not refund the $72 fee. Now mind you my account was only overdrawn $5 and change. So I ended up paying nearly $80 because Regions didn't do what they said they were going to do. But it does not end there. I call Regions one day because I need to cancel some automatic payments and I was told I needed to speak with my bank and I wanted to talk to them about closing my account because of how I'm satisfied that I was.
But it wasn't just that, I really needed to speak with them in a timely fashion because I had stuff to do that day and I needed to get with Regions as soon as possible. I call Regions and the automated system will not put me through. I called at 7:20 a.m. They said they were closed and that I needed to call back during normal business hours which was 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central Standard Time. Did you catch that, I called at 7:20 a.m., I'm in Tennessee, that is Central Standard Time. But the automated system was telling me they were closed and, therefore, I could not get through to anyone even when I needed it desperately.
I continue calling Regions back to back to back to back to the point where apparently my phone number, flag something happened and the phone would ring the automated system would say thank you for calling Regions goodbye. That's all I would say. The automated system literally said, "Thank you for calling Regions goodbye", and hung up. Eventually, I got in touch with someone and told them about my scenario and they stated they had no news of anything that was messing with the automated system. I also emailed Regions.
Several times I emailed Regions regarding this particular circumstance. The first email I received made me feel like they were talking down to me. In my email, I stated that I called during business hours and Regions' automated system told me they were closed. The people that responded to my email, which was a manual response not an automated response, this means a person told me that I needed to call during normal business hours if I wanted someone to pick up the phone. Obviously did not even hear or read what I was saying.
So all of that being said recently my husband and I got into a bit of a financial situation. I need to cancel a payment. I called the company and they tell me that I need to contact the bank in order to cancel the payment. I call the bank. I called the bank at 6:51 p.m. The automated system told me that they were closed and I needed to call back during regular normal business hours, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central Standard Time. I don't call back, I immediately go online on my smartphone and e-mail Regions. And long story short on this particular situation is I tried to make a stop payment and I could not do it because they were not picking up the phone. I tried to make a stop payment and the automated system told me they were closed.
So today I call Regions I tell them that I had student loans come through that I was trying to cancel yesterday evening but was not able to because of the automated system. Someone tells me that I needed three days prior in order to create a stop payment. I continue to tell this person that had I known this, I would have done whatever I needed to do to get the money in the account. Now, I'm going to be charged an overdraft fee. I'm going to be charged and I'm going to be paying Regions money because they don't know what they're doing. You know what is not even that they don't know what they're doing, it's about them being a corporate company and no longer caring about what they're messed up policies and messed up automated systems are doing to customers.
I try to file a complaint and the lady told me that there is no one other than her that I could speak with. She told me that there was no one higher than her at that building. Excuse me, are you the president? I didn't think so. There's always someone higher. There's always a superior to talk to until I talk to the president or CEO of Regions. They are refusing to refund me the overdraft fees that are going to come because of my student loans being taken out. I have continually tried to explain to these people that this is not my fault, that I would have borrowed the money from a relative had I known then what I knew 24 hours late.
Long story short, this whole experience with Regions has cost me more money than what it's worth. I would never recommend Regions to anyone ever in my life. I will always find a way to make sure people understand that Regions is a corporate company, not a company that truly and genuinely and sincerely cares about their customers. You know, a gentleman that I spoke with today told me that he did not want to lose me as a customer after I told him that I wanted to find out what I had to do to close out my account as soon as possible.
I'm pretty sure that if Regions truly and genuinely cared about their customers that someone within that building would have had authority to guarantee me that I would not be harmed overdraft fees AGAIN due to the incompetence of their employees. I own what I am saying right now. Everything I said is true and I'm willing to go to court with it. The lady that I spoke with today insinuated that I was lying and making up a story. The reason I know that is because of her tone of voice and the words that she said to me.
She said, "Well ma'am, you're the only person to have complained about this at all. So there's no record of anything being wrong and, therefore, it session you're the ONLY person with this problem. And it looks here that you've overdrawn before and you disputed that as well." I will find a way to get my awful experience made right. Even if it means me paying this fee, closing my account, and then speaking to someone who has actual authority to change certain things. Because no one absolutely no one, deserves to go through what I have been through with this company.

I checked my account on Monday and everything had cleared except for the 60.00 pending charge for the cheer city United bill. On Tuesday I checked the account to verify the amount before I went to put 100 in my account to cover the fee and the charge (60 + 36.00)... I then noticed I was charged 185.00 in OVERDRAFT FEES! The 60.00 is still pending and has yet to clear so instead of charging the overdraft for the one pending item I was charged overdraft on everything that has cleared and had the funds available for.
The balance in my account currently is -236.40... which is the 60.00-3.70 I had available + the 185.00 overdraft for the items that weren't over drafted! I opted out overdraft before because of their practices to trick you and charge all of the extra charges instead of the one I was intending to overdraft on! I called into the Regions Bank Brookwood Station branch to speak with Mary, who by the way has not been any type of help at all. She seems to show no passion or concern for my situation. I opened the account online, and for whatever reason the account was closed. They said maybe because of ChexSystem. I went into the branch the day after opening the account and they said it was ok for me to have my direct deposit from my job to be deposited in this account. The day of my deposit, 10/21/15, I am not able to access my funds. They told me my account is being closed down. May refused to try to make any calls to back office to see if there was something that could be done.
The manager, Tracy I believe, at the Dunwoody location branch was very nice, but also said Mary was rude with her on the phone. Are you guys really here to help the customer out. However, I have car note, mortgage, and funeral arrangements to pay for. I need my $1230 out of this account. The 10-day rule is not going to work for me. Either you guys refund me my direct deposit or reject it so that my employer can write me a manual check. It's that simple. I have been in tears today, because this is my first check and it was deposited with confidence that I would be able to access it. I have children to take care of. The fact that you want me to wait 2 weeks nearly to receive my funds in the form of a check is ridiculous. I would like my account assigned to the Dunwoody branch, where I work and deal with them.
I do not want to deal with Mary from the Brookwood station branch in Atlanta. Mary basically sat on the phone and told me "Tough Luck!" Never was she apologetic. She is not what I thought Regions would be a representation of. I really hope she is replaced with someone who actually wants to do the work and find out what's going on. Well Regions Bank, I need my funds. You guys have closed the account, give me my hard earned money that I have worked for. I have contacted LuAnn at corporate as well. I told her to PLEASE DO NOT MAIL MY CHECK OUT IF YOU GUYS HAVE TO CUT ME A CHECK. She said it will get mailed to address on file. I want to pick my funds up from the bank. Someone needs to handle this ASAP, or I will be on every blog and site telling my horrendous experience.

My personal account was overdrawn. I have $10.00 that is transferred every month from my checking to my savings account, since my account was overdrawn they still transferred this money to my personal savings and charged me $36.00 and would not refund this fee. But if you try to transfer money yourself and the money is not in your account it will not let you transfer. I told customer service to transfer money from my savings to my checking account and she told me that I never signed a signature card on file. I took the signature card personally to the bank and gave it to them. I knew the exact date and they failed to file the application. All they could tell me was I needed one on file. We have three accounts with this bank. A business account, personal and savings account. And they are constantly rearranging your pending transactions that confuses you, which is misleading and unethical. This is a greedy and unprofessional bank!!!

Ok, I have been dealing with Regions for almost a year now. Outside the fact they charge $36 for. 94 cents overdraft says it all. But you had 2 charges totaling $3, they charged me $72 for. I had a bill payment that was due to come out and I called to try and make sure that it would be declined (trying to avoid any other charges). Then after, after they made sure the payment wouldn't go thru they tell me I would still get another $36 fee for them to decline the attempt, seriously!!! This bank is a modern day siphon that has manipulated me into a false sense of security. I feel like I just got robbed, like I was on the street but no charges can be filed... Be careful if you use this bank, be very careful. I will be closing my account asap!

Regions is LITERALLY the worst of the worst banks EVER!!! I thought Bank of America was bad... Region have them beat by 100. I will never in MY life refer someone to this HORRIFIC customer service place. They tell you can't WITHDRAW your own money when even when it's in your account. You go into the branch and get treated like **. You call the "customer service" and get treated even worst.
Regardless of the state of the pending request or money that's already in your account... You only withdraw under certain circumstances. I swear I hate this bank. I'm closing my account TOMORROW!!! Region will never get another dime on my money into their accounts. People trust me, Regions isn't what you're looking for. You're better off with Bank of America (and they bad bad) lol.

Was pre-approved for mortgage loan. We were assigned Kevin ** to handle this for us. We were told that we met all the qualifications to receive a USDA loan. We then went through all the appraisal process and other stuff that one does to close on a house. Long story short, was told 80 days later that we could not get the USDA loan because our combined salary was too high. They had our financial records all that time and their excuse was that the loan officer made a mistake. Do not go to Regions when buying a house. They are ill equipped in this area.

My debit card was compromised three weeks ago, it was caught immediately (prior to the charges going through) with Regions being notified that these were fraudulent. They advised that they would let the charges go through, then they would contact the vendors (whom I didn't know and didn't do business with) and Visa to get the charges reversed and my money back. If for some reason they needed me to fill out an affidavit, they would contact me.
Fast forward three weeks... I call to check on things and find out that NOTHING WAS DONE. And the process needs to be completely restarted, and now since the charges have cleared, there is no guarantee that I am getting my money back. PLUS as an added adventure, they want me to contact the companies whom I didn't do business with to try and convince them to refund my money... THE MONEY THEY STOLE FROM ME IN THE FIRST PLACE... THE MONEY I WARNED REGIONS NOT TO PAY OUT. Now, this wasn't a bunch of money (less than $400), however it is the principle. PLUS I want to warn others and want to make sure that no one else has the same problems I have had.

I have a story to tell...I mistakenly chose to do business with Regions Bank. The two representatives I was working with were recently terminated because their behavior was so egregious. Yet, Regions chooses the position that these two dealt with me honestly and fairly. They worked on a loan for me for six months that included real estate as collateral. I did not know until the day of closing the real estate was not part of the loan, that I was required to open a bank account at Regions, that I was required to assign life insurance to cover the loan, and NEVER knew there was a $5600 pre-payment penalty. ServisFirst did in three weeks what Regions did in six months and for a fraction of closing cost with a lower interest rate. Regions will gouge you with fees and penalties. They sit back and laugh because you pay it. They refuse to refund my pre-payment penalty even though they treated me horribly.

I have been a valued customer of this bank for well over six years and in that time I consistently noticed that during holiday weekends or days when Monday is not a banking day, they are not posting the accurate balances. When I assume that I have a certain amount, and this is with my checks and balances, Regions will change the date of my transactions so it would appear on that specific date I didn't have any money.
So for instance if I spend two hundred dollars Friday and don't spend any money Sat and Sun on, ten dollars on Monday, what Regions will do is say post that two hundred Tuesday and this is ACH direct purchase not credit, they will say you didn't have enough to cover the ten, charge you thirty six dollars and not your negative for the ten and thirty six... it's insane!!! I'm truly disappointed in this bank. As a veteran, I will not have someone tell me, rep for Regions, I need to have better spending habits, no - I'm going to change banks, and let everyone know that Regions is the business of making money for their investors, not your best interest.

Currently living overseas as an US military dependent and had an APO, AP address for over 5 years. My APO, AP address changed and my check card expired. I notified the bank that I had not received my replacement card which they told me was mailed to my previous APO, AP address. I informed them that my APO, AP address did change and requested a new card to be mailed to my new APO, AP address. The bank required a notified letter of the new address and other items which I sent to change my address and to be sent a replacement card. I waited another couple of months and nothing. I notified the bank again and they said that a card was mailed but when I told them I had none they asked for my personal information again over the phone (an international call I made) and the address was changed and a new card was to be mailed. Another couple of months later and still no card.
I notified the bank again and they told me that a card was mailed and to wait longer since it was going to a foreign address. I don't know how knowledgeable the representative was with APO, AP addresses but I told them that it is NOT a foreign address but a US address and no matter how the bank had sent the multiple cards they purportedly sent I would have received at least one of them. The first card that was sent to the old address was never received and I still have my mail forwarded from that address so it would have been forwarded to me.
Now another customer service rep who probably not read the history of this issue has given me two options that would resolve my issue: to fax a notarized letter with requested information or to pay $35 to send my card to my foreign address. I've already sent the notarized letter with the requested information months ago per their original suggestion and my address is NOT a foreign address so I will not pay $35 out of my pocket to send to a foreign address. I have personal bank accounts with a couple of other US banks and those banks have been nothing but accommodating to US military and their dependents needs since we do live in a foreign country but it is obvious that Regions Bank doesn't value our business.

My account was closed due to an overdraft fee I didn't know I had. I just started a new job two weeks ago. I gave my job my bank information for direct deposit. My deposit was scheduled to be in my account on Friday. Thursday I found my account was closed because of the overdraft fee. I immediately paid it off. I was then told because my account had closed my paycheck would be sent back to my job the next business day, in my case it would've been Monday.
I called the representative told me the bank processes on Monday at midnight. I was fine with that thinking it would be returned to my job Tuesday so I can get paid. I called my job Tuesday they haven't received the funds yet I then called the Regions back. I was then told the recovery department had a hold on my money and I need to contact them and they will tell me to open a new account or they would cut me a check. Then the representative transferred me. I was then told my money will be released to me Wednesday and I had two options, open a new account and I'll get my money immediately or they will mail me a money order and that would take up to ten business days.
I started to get upset because the representative had an attitude with me because I was concerned about MY MONEY. I then asked to talk to a manager. The manager told me no matter what option I choose I would have to wait up to ten business days to receive my money and she couldn't give me a specific date. Frustrated I asked why I paid off my fee last Thursday. She said because the account had closed and for security reasons. I then pleaded with her to see is there something she can do to release my money.
Today is the first my rent and phone bill is due. I then asked her why cant it be sent back to my employer? She then told me it cant. I only the two options she mentioned earlier. She then said "I'm sorry mam there's nothing I can do you just have to wait." In tears I just hung up the phone not knowing when I'll get my money. I wouldn't recommend Regions bank to dog, because that's how I was being treated like I wasn't human, or I can't be frustrated about my money that's being held for no reason.

The bank charged me $180. When I went to ask for a reversal they stated they could not do this for me. The previous day the account was overdrawn $8.00 for a service fee I should not have had. They reversed that. Prior to that I had $5.88 in account I spent that had .56 cent in the account. The $5.88 was spent a week earlier and it was spent in $1 increments each time on Amazon. The bank reversed the $8 fee then turned around and charged me $36 for each $1 transaction resulting in them taking my $180. I have also had the problem with the ATM taking my money and card and them not offering a credit. I HATE THIS BANK. I also bank at another institute, that is a lot better than this **. I am a single mom with six kids. I NEED MY MONEY BACK. And that $180 they took that was for my food for my kids not to mention gas for car and bills.
