Unfortunately, my residential mortgage loan was transferred/sold to Regions by another bank. Back in December 2024; Regions took more than ten days to process my mortgage payment. Giving benefit of doubt because of holiday season; I gave six days extra to postal service on top of ten days. First Regions charged a late fee. When I escalated the issue with Corporate office; they refunded the fee, offered an apology and I accepted it. On the other hand; Regions reported to credit bureau as 30 days late payment for December. This is not fair to a consumer!

Regions is one of the worst banks I have dealt with. They refuse to help any customers. They charge excessive overdraft charges. When you call and ask to see if they will help you they say we can't help you. I've been dealing with excessive overdraft charges for 2 years now and no help from them. I cannot get my account out if it because no matter what I do they keep adding charges for what reason I have no clue. I live on disability social security and that is just a monthly income due with them keeping on adding charges every month. I cannot get ahead for anything. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO THEM FOR THIS.

This is the worst bank out there, avoid them! The workers are incompetent, unhelpful and rude especially at the Centralia IL location!! I was there today 10/2/2024 and could not even get a simply $29.00 two party check cashed without giving them my DL and SS number and phone number!!! I then they were going to charge me $5 to cash it and go through a third party to do so!! What the hell do we need banks for? They gouge all for fees continually, refuse to do their job and cash checks and make loans, they have 0 customer service skills and then their corporate office hides from the public when they try to complain!! The banks need to be closed just like the state government offices do their workers are all lazy and incompetent and do nothing while being paid massive salary and benefits packages!!!

Went to Regions to get an elderly handicapped relative a secure credit card. They didn't mention on the phone there was an annual fee nor would they not accept the POWER OF ATTORNEY that I legally have. One bank officer stated POAs are not worth the paper written on. The relative is partially deaf and has me speak to all creditors and insurance companies. I told the officer, "Then tell that to my local bank,3 insurance companies, 2 hospitals, and doctors plus Transunion Credit Bureau." It was a nightmare trying to get the 1100 dollars back and I had to bring my relative back to the branch in a wheelchair after 60 days to get the money back since they kept saying they would mail the refund to him. Regions responded to a BBB complaint that they could not speak to me because I was not authorized even after I told them their branch REFUSED to accept the POA which was legal in all 50 states.

Also, there were problems logging in online and I was told by the branch officer that I was using an old version of Windows 7 and they only support Win 10 and 11. I replied that why are they the only financial site having a problem when I don't have problems with Capital One and my local bank plus my other credit card bank. Regions has no tech support for online problems and they always tell you to go to the branch. If you are handicapped they expect the person to get in a wheelchair to get to the branch when there is a problem. The account was closed approximately 2 weeks after opening it and we had to go to the branch after being lied to for almost 60 days that they would mail the check knowing the person was wheelchair bound. I have never seen such incompetence in all my years of dealing with different financial institutions.

Regions also gets around Federal Law by being a STATE CHARTER BANK in ALABAMA which they can avoid the RULES OF THE US COMPTROLLER. The local US Comptroller's office told me that they had no authority over Regions. I'd have to notify the AL Attorney General's office to file any complaints. The AL Atty Gen Office does not make it easy to file a complaint against a bank. Before choosing Regions Bank think 1000 times before doing so.

Do not choose Regions Bank as your financial institution. Several different apps encounter problems when selecting Regions Bank or find that Regions Bank is not even a recognized option. Additionally, if you have your account open for 179 days and not at least 180 days, Regions Bank will withhold at least $25.00 per account without disclosing the information beforehand; they give no warning of this $25 fee for each account. It is not mentioned by their representatives, in the email confirming your account closure, or even in the letter with your cashier's check.

Your cashier's check will just be $25 short, or if you have one account with less than a $25 balance, you won't receive a check at all, and you'll have to call to find out. When you do call, after being kept on hold for 15 minutes, they will inform you there is nothing that can be done, so you're just out $25 per account for not waiting a day longer to close your account. Terrible service! Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy giving away money to a bank with dubious practices.

Money is never available. I will deposit cash and then the bank will tell me I have to wait 24 to 48 hours for it to be available. If you cash a check, it's the same. Internal transfers makes you wait 24 hours for your balance to be available. Sending and receiving money with Zelle is a hassle!! Amount is limited, number of transactions are limited. You can't send when you want or how much. Wait, wait, wait. That's all it is with Regions.

I have a fiancee who is living in another country and send periodic Western Union deposits to her. Normally I do these transactions at Walmart service desk but with a holiday the next day I expected a longer wait in line. With a Regions Bank closer I decided to go there when I saw they also perform these transactions. Since it was still through Western Union, I only anticipated maybe a higher service charge. But where they got me was on a $1000 transfer the exchange rate was $130 less than what she would have received through same transaction from the same money transfer company at Walmart. Exchange rate had not even been shown to me and is so different than ours you need a calculator to convert. All the bank representative said was that is the way it is, sorry you were unhappy with our service. Unhappy..hell yes I feel money was stolen from my fiancee.

I called in just to find out what day I opened the account to see if I still qualified for a promotion they sent me in the mail. Due to a direct deposit error at work it never went into the account despite having emails saying direct deposit was changed. They told me it was a breach of my information to give them the date I started or even the last day to get direct deposit after asking me my first and last name, card pin, full ssn 2xs, address, phone number (even though I called in on the number and I know they can see it and the system told them it's my number for the account as it verified me before transferring and I use to work for a bank and many call centers).

What is the use of a call center if you can not help with basics and you want me to say all my information over the phone even with people around to still not get info??!! What was the point of verification? Your damn quality assurance making sure you verify every caller instead of give help?? I would give you 0 stars if it let me due to security reasons of having to say my whole ssn and all personal information out loud, for wasting my time getting all the info just not to help me, and inconveniences of it all. This is a pointless bank that will have you jumping through hoops and hurdles. As much as we try to stay away from main banks and support smaller banks, it is things like this that make you stay with who you are with. Thank you for NOTHING Regions Bank!!

What a HORRIBLE bank. Only recently the bank started putting 10 day HOLDS on every deposit. When I knew a banker that worked there, she would release it after 3 days because the funds had cleared. However, after she left, I was always having all my funds held even though they had already cleared. Unless you personally knew someone who would give you access to your money sitting in your account with a nonsensical hold so that Regions can invest your money and make money on your money that you are not permitted to use for 10 days, regardless of whether the funds cleared or not.

I spoke with a banker and asked him to release the funds and he lied to me saying this is the way it is done at all banks, even acknowledging that the funds had cleared but for the Regions 10-day hold. I have opened a new account at another bank and I will never permit any of my clients to use Regions in any type of transaction with my business. Stay away from this bank at all costs.

Since I have moved away and am not near a branch, it has gotten ridiculous. They want me to come into a branch for almost everything. No one seems to understand that I am not anywhere near any branch! All of my other banks allow me to do 99% of things online. They took one week to send a wire that I requested. I had to email the CEO to get any action on this. I have now moved most of my money to another bank and they want me to walk into a branch to close the account! Regions is the worst, most unprofessional bank I’ve had the displeasure of ever dealing with. They use very shady practices, that someone outside the Regions world needs to investigate. If I could give less than 1 star I would. I had a simple deposit of 10,000. That was nothing new to my account, normally within routine if there’s enough recourse to cover the check there’s no hold no problem. However I switch over to deposit a check to a different Regions Bank (same town) which is the Regions off of Skyland in Tuscaloosa. Instead of receiving a deposit slip, I receive paperwork they sent over in the drive through with dates for holding the check, no warning, or asking if I like the check back to take it to be cashed, they just kept it.

At first no big deal, the first amount was supposed to hit my account the next day, the following day 4500. And a few days later the rest was to be deposited. Those dates came and gone and big surprise. NO deposits! It’s been over a week. No cash deposited. I go back to the person who wrote me the check and they call their bank.. The money already came out of their account the SAME day I deposited the check into my account. I tried calling the bank and speaking with the branch manager (who for some reason won’t give her name). Manager is NEVER available to speak.

The excuses I get are “the manager is in a meeting today from 9am to 12pm” so I called at 1:30pm and got someone named Troy who calls himself the assistant manager, that tells that the manager can’t talk now because she’s in another meeting in her office with an employee and can’t be disturbed but he would let her know to call me back, well news flash she never called. Nothing is resolved, Regions is still holding on to 10,000 of my money that the manager won’t even speak to me about. At this point it’s time to find a new BANK!!!

I asked customer service why the deposit was delayed, she said it was made too close to the 8 pm deadline. So, if you're making a mobile deposit at 7:19, don't plan on the deposit processing for a few days. They do as they please.

Wow!!! And not Wow in a good way, wow in what a disaster. I am not even sure how this bank stays afloat with the subpar services provided and subpar customer service along with the fee-you-to-death stance. I figured I would try out a new bank and Regions offered $400.00 dollars to open an account. Well I can see why now. That's probably the only way they can get someone to do it.

From the minute I tried online setting up and got a "you need to come to a branch error" I knew this wasnt going to be a easy ride. I visit a branch, I feel like I am entering either a Bodega on NY lower east side with all the plexi glass or a title loan place in a shady part of town. Who still have bullet proof glass in their banks? Hire a uniformed guard for a whole lot nicer atmosphere.

Gertrude (not her real name) seems to be the go-to there. After she finishes a customer in line and than takes out the trash and does the dishes she helps me finish my setup. She is nice as she goes in to detail about this fee, that fee, the other fee, the fee for the fee, the fee that gets added to the fee if the fee isnt paid and the fee's fee just to obtain the other fee. Im like oh well, im invested now. I could have earned my $400.00 a lot easier but I have to follow through.

I expect them to hand me a debit card. Nope. You have to wait for that. All other banks have a printer but I guess with Regions having to buy all their bullet proof glass they couldnt afford one. Gertrude goes in to tell me to use their ATM because I will pay a fee at any other ATM other than theirs. I say oh yeah I know the ATM owners charge and she says NO Regions charges as well. I said well what financial network are you on and she says none. So no card, crap ton of fees, fees just to obtain my money, etc.

Even at this point I figured well since I cant get my money out without having to suit up in riot gear and enter the branch while admiring the beauty of the 1980's plexiglass my money will be saved because who wants to go through all that to get it or pay to get their own money. I deposit a check and guess what, they put a 8 day hold on it. A 5K check. From a well known bank (Vystar) and 8 day hold. So no money, crap ton of fees, longest hold in banking history, bomb shelter branches, gertude that is the teller, cleaning lady, bullet proof glass polisher, account opener, fee explainer I can't get my money for 8 days. Run, run as far as you can.

PEOPLE OF COLOR, that are citizens, or new immigrants of color married, or not to a U.S. citizen DO NOT USE THIS BANK IF YOU WANT A HONEST ONE. They highly discriminate. I am a ** man with a top secret clearance and married a year to a Jamaican woman who I have been with for over 3 years that she was living here and going to college for her master's degree. The bank never seen or met me. I was smart enough to use Bank America in Saint Louis where I work. My wife working her first job in Highland Illinois wanted her bank in the town where she works as a nurse and also to have her bi-weekly checks deposited.

Every since she opened the account checking and savings, the bank kept suspending her card for unknown activities, and never explained why. She was not sending or receiving any money overseas. She only used it to receive, and save some of her salary. Every time she only called them and they would quickly unsuspend it. No reason given ever. Then after 4-6 weeks they finally completely closed her checking account only. Again with no reason. She called and asked everyone in person also several times, only including the bank manager and a assistant. They both could give any answers and after several complaints, they kept promising her answers quickly but never had any after each time she talked to them.

The funny thing is after her 4th time talking to them, I went in with her and they promised me the same. Originally when the account was closed she called the number on her card and they said only the bank could tell her why it was closed, yet for 2 weeks even the bank manager claimed that no one higher than him could tell him why, yet he could not reopen it either. The only thing we know is in common is that everyone we talked to so far is completely ** I. This bank, and claim that can't get any answers.

Part of my secret clearance also means my wife and her family had to be vetted by the government homeland security and FBI. Also her father was a life long police Sargent and retired now in Jamaica. So again what reason this corrupt discriminative bank have for closing a bank account with over $500.00 from a honest woman married to a government employed American man who both have no record, other than she is a ** woman from Jamaica??? I have figured out that they have set up their computer system to keep transactions in a pending state for days. This causes an illusion that you have money available to spend, and they do indeed let you spend money even though they claim the money is in pending status. One thing this does is stop you from closing an account because transactions stay pending for many many days. Another thing this does is cause accounts to go Into NSF and negative amounts.

So let's say you have 1000$ ready to spend. You spend 999$ of it. You have 1$ left and you deposit another 1000$ before you spend any more money. You think that you now have 1001$ so you go spend more money on things like rent. Wrong!

The second deposit is pending for days but you can't tell this at all and they even let you spend the money you deposited as if it's there in the account. You go spending more than 1000$ and now the bank claims you're in NSF status because that 1000$ you deposited is not yet available and stuck in pending even though they let you send it! So I'll help you picture it better. At 5pm you had 1000$. At 6pm you paid for something and you have 1 $ left. You deposit another 1000$ at 630pm. You think you now have 1001$ by 7pm and can spend it. In fact it shows up in your account as if it's ready to spend! At 730pm you spend 100$ thinking everything is fine because you have 1001$ but NO, you do not. That REGIONS BANK computer they are using calculates the deposit of 1000$ you made at 630pm as a pending transaction.

This pending state can last for days! Yes that's correct, the bank will show you in the app and the website that the deposited money is available but it really is not available because the computer system does is SLOW on purpose to make YOU go into NSF. So now you are overdrawn. At no point does the app or website ever show your deposits as pending. IN fact, it will allow you to spend that money they claim was "pending." THIS IS WHAT THEY DID TO ME 2 TIMES IN LESS THAN 5 DAYS. As of this moment my account is negative 465$ because the bank claims I spent money that wasn't yet available in my account even though they allowed me to have access to that money and that money was deposited by me in cash...

Again. This is all because they specifically set up their computer system to recognize every transaction including deposits, days after it's actually made. And to add to it they grant you access to the money they claim doesn't yet exist in your account. So depending on when you spend the money they claim doesn't yet exist vs the money to used to pay for items that stay in pending, you could end up in astronomically negative values of money missing in your account.

Now I gotta go to the bank first thing in the morning and speak to low iq low waged people that have zero clue what the bank computer is actually doing to people. It's all a plan. They set it up so YOU get zero help from un knowledgable employees and you end up giving up and just paying for Fees upon fees that stack up very fast. Not me.

Immediately, on the 5th of Sept, I again reported and disputed those two fraudulent charges. Regions accepted the dispute and said they would "investigate" and send me a letter within 30 days of the results of their investigations... I just received their summation where they deny my dispute and say that I had either "authorized or participated in the charges". They do not provide their findings... such as how they determined their conclusions... were there signatures??? This card had been on autopay for several years since they finally began allowing autopay from external bank accounts. In Jan ‘22 I took a $5 Uber ride billed to Regions CC. I work out of town for months at a time, hence the need for autopay. Feb and March statements were missed as I was 1100 miles away. By the time I got home, my first clue there was a problem was a denied credit card application despite a credit score of 842/850. The reason was a current delinquent CC account. Long story short, 1st customer service said many people had their “external autopay” deleted and she didn’t know why. Complaint filed requesting credit correction. 6 weeks later no written letter as promised.

More customer service ineptness, sassy supervisors, and basically without saying it verbatim, Regions investigation does not owe any explanation nor are they accountable to anyone for their actions or decisions. Complete refusal to communicate if explain why my autopay was stopped. They dropped my credit score 75 points because they stopped my autopay without reason, which will take 7+ yrs to come off my a credit report now. Next stop is credit bureau dispute. ATMs constantly down or eats your deposit and you have to wait weeks to get it credited to your account..Meanwhile they add on overdraft fees. OH and as I am "chatting" with a rep right now I am told "there are other ways to deposit money". I'm sorry. Do you not work for us? If we didn't have accounts here you wouldn't have a job. This place is a joke! With all the times people deposit their cash and the ATM "fails" makes one wonder what is really going on? Find another bank and look for reviews before opening any account. I am out of my rent money because of this bank and at this point don’t know if the issue will ever be resolved because they DON’T CARE. All THEY DO Is APOLOGIZE.

She proceeded to push me to go ahead and pay over the phone and I reiterated that I am not at the office and I just got out of the hospital after a week stay. The disappointing thing is regions has built this big PR campaign on relationships but this lady Was unconcerned about my state of health and just wanted to get a payment. Sidenote. I wanted to use the external transfer service from Regions Bank checking account to another bank's checking. When I asked beforehand, I was informed that there would be no fee for the outbound EXTERNAL transfer and was said to feel free to do it without worries. However, I was charged $3 as the outbound service fee. After seeing this, I contacted 3-4 agents by phone, and all of them said the $3 fee was charged by another bank, not Regions. Now, it turned out that Regions bank actually DID charge $3 for the outbound external transfer. A Regions banker says that they are sorry but that there's nothing they can do about this.

I am not happy, because I did the external transfer only based on the Region's bank agent's misinformation. Also, I am surprised that 3-4 agents by phone all said there is NO fee for the outbound EXTERNAL transfer from the Regions bank account. This morning was the first time that the agent said there IS a $3 outbound external transfer fee. However, they wouldn't refund this fee.

I was amazed when leaving Regions Bank. I had been a business, and now only, personal account holder with Regions Bank for many years. My activity with them due to medical reasons had been dormant for quite some time. Finally after improvement I visited a local branch for the first time in years. Today, in light of changing times, digital access, reduced interactions, and effective communication, I was left in amazement with how I was made to feel once my banking business had been completed. I can assure you Regions Bank still values their customers with dignity and respect at a level not often found, today.

When one can walk into an banking establishment today, feeling better when they walk out than they did walking in, that bank, is doing all things right. I can't remember the last time I was made to feel that way. No act, no phony salesmanship, only sincere, professional service. Professional service with the genuine feeling of being appreciated as a customer.

HSL, the owner of a small business, is a victim of Regions Bank. Last year she was contacted over the phone by a representative of Ascentium Capital, a subsidiary of Regions Bank. They advertised financing for a POS system called Clover. It was seemingly a great deal, they stated that there wasn’t a contract and stressed the quality of their customer service. When she started the service, the price was significantly more than what was said over the phone, and it grew monthly. She tried calling the number she was given and had trouble getting a response, when she did, they would dodge her questions and kept talking to fill the space. The problem of being overcharged stayed the same no matter the number of times she called. She wanted to cancel the service as it had become too expensive for her to continue.

When she called Ascentium, they told her to call a different department, she called and they said that she was in a two-year contract and if she wanted to cancel she needed to pay over $7,000. She told them that she had agreed to the original price with no contract, not what was being said. She name-dropped the salesperson who had originally advertised the package to her and Ascentium said they no longer worked for them.

They then revealed that the POS company Clover was unconnected to their company, though they had previously implied that they were one company. They told her that if she did not pay the fee they would add her business to a debtors list to be contacted by debt collectors and that they would drop her personal credit score, saying that that would be very difficult for her. She refused to pay the fee, knowing that this was wrong, and her credit score was ruined, making her unable to get a new house as she hoped to do that year.

Where do I begin? Their $400 welcome bonus is a scam. I do welcome bonuses frequently as I have moved a lot and this is the first time I have been scammed. None of their online tools work properly: from opening an account, to asking/emailing a question. Errors come up constantly telling you to call. When you call, just expect lip service and never expect your problem to be resolved. The specific location in Missouri City, TX can't help you with anything. The drive through will show "closed "and you have to walk in (during covid, with your kids) and ask why it's closed. It's always because the teller "forgot" to turn the light on and was too distracted by her phone to notice you there. There are never any customers at that location, so being swamped isn't the problem.

If I ask for 50 cent or dollar coins, they never have them. I have to go to Wells Fargo to get my daughter's tooth fairy money. I could go on and on. The worst is the welcome bonus scam! Don't try it; they have every excuse in the book as to why you don't qualify despite meeting everything required. Most of their excuses come down to their problems with their system not working correctly and it turns into your fault.

We attempted to use this promise and was not able to use it with out going through a manager. I recieved a check from a friend and she wrote it out to cash. I tried to cash it. It was only for $60. They said you can't cash it here even with an account. The reason because you can cash that anywhere. I looked at her and said evidently not. I got locked out of our on line banking account. I am deaf so I have to get someone to repeat what they are saying so I can hear it. After waiting the full 45 min. they hung up on us and never called us back.

Finally after making several email complaints and putting up this review on Consumer Affairs Regions called us and got us on line. They even emailed me a direct line to the one we spoke with to get us back on line. This one was very knowledgeable and very helpful. But the aggravation of what you have to do to get to this person who was so helpful is more than what I ever want to have to endure with a compay who is suppose to service me. When I can not get to my own money nothing they do can make me happy. My suggestion is to bank here at your own risk. Keep money aside out of the bank so when they lock you out you can still do what you need to get done. IF banking this way is something you can tolerate then this is your bank.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. A phone call to Regions will take no less than 45 min-2 hours to have simple issues dealt with. I tried calling the fraud dept 4 different times and was on hold between 45 min and 2 1/2 hours each time I called and never spoke with anyone. They would literally answer the call and then hang up after I was on hold for hours. This happened 4 different times on a Friday and a Saturday. I spent almost an entire Saturday on hold and never spoke to anyone. They also don't offer a call back feature so you are forced to sit on the phone, on hold, listening to some of the worst music you will ever hear. There is so much more I could go into that is just so bad about Regions but just know to stay away from Regions Bank! Truly a horrible experience each and every time. Nightmare...

They refuse to provide employee ID numbers or the person's name with their last initial when you're speaking to them there's no record of any calls when you call them.

They admit that they're having problems with their app but they don't fix it. They admit that they're having comes with their ATMs but never fix it. This has been going on since before the pandemic. They do not dispute charges in a legal manner, And none of their services or features ever work. If I could give it negative stars I would. I was on hold for over 40 minutes. Spoke to 2 separate managers and when I informed them that unless they give me an employee user ID or some sort of confirmation number or an email which they also refused. I'm going to have to record the conversation. At that point they hung up on me.

So I’ve been with Regions for only a couple of months and I would suggest anyone who is interested in opening up an account to run! I got a rental car though ACE rental ATL and was scammed out of $910. Regions bank denied my fraud claim twice even after me sending proof that the car they provided me with had a check engine light on, a broken mirror (which is a safety hazard) and dirty seats. Not only did they rent me a terrible car but they charged me an extra $400 without me authorizing it. When speaking to a teller they said they can only give me a credit if the scammers agree to refunding me. Now if they were going to give me my money back would I be disputing it with regions? Absolutely not! What’s the purpose of having a bank account with you guys if my money isn’t insured.

I have two checking accounts with them. I’ve since moved to a new bank because of my total disgust of this institution. I regularly transfer funds back and forth through the two accounts through my log in. I had a large amount deposited in Regions which sat there for about a week. I decided to move that amount to my new bank. I wrote a check to my new bank against my Regions account to keep from physically handling cash. I made the transfer per usual but the amount didn’t show up per usual. Instead of freaking out I gave it about a day, saying to myself maybe this is their normal system trickery to secure funds of this amount. I inquired about my transfer and was then told that it went into another account which I have no association with. A closed account that they couldn’t tell me anything about because they can see closed accounts.

From this I filed a complaint, they submitted for a cancel of the transfer, and a teller told me she sees the reversal has gone through and is complete, yet my balance doesn’t reflect it. Three employees have actually uttered the words saying “this is weird”. Meanwhile, my actual paycheck has been frozen in my new account which also reflects the balance from the check I wrote to it. I’ve noticed that none of my bills have come out, which means that this problem is snowballing. It’s Sunday and regions told me that it all should be cleared by Tuesday. This is totally unacceptable. I have had to live off of credit cards for the past 3 days and did I mention, Regions charged me an NSF fee? The star that I’ve given is only there so that my issue can be viewed. My actual rating is at a negative 10 stars.

I have had a business account with Regions for 6 years. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I tried several times to get guidance about applying for PPP funds through Regions. Because I live in another state and am unable to visit a branch in person, this went against their "normal process" (though they accepted online applications for over a month at the beginning of the program.) I called the Orange Park, FL branch manager Darcy several times for assistance and did not receive calls back. When I finally spoke with him (through my own persistence!), he said he would call corporate to see what could be done and then, you guessed it, he never called me back. I was finally able to apply through another bank, but I feel very let down by my business bank at the time I needed them most. I will be closing my account and moving to a bank that values its customers.

Long story short. I opened a dispute for a transaction on my debit card. The dispute was opened as fraud. I do not work for a bank so I was unaware the dispute should have been opened as a merchant dispute. Regions sided with the merchant without having the merchant provide a phone number or tracking number for a order I placed.

I stumbled across a fraudulent website. I ordered blood pressure watches and because the merchant can provide my debit card information, the 3 digit code on the back and my address. Regions bank said I participated in a transaction. The dispute should have been a merchant dispute and now it's too late to file the dispute correctly because I was dealing with my local branch and not directly with the fraud department.

The branch says it contacted the appropriate department but the fraud department said the branch did not contact them until it was too late to reverse the decision. Although I spoke with the branch right away. The assistant branch manager called to say she couldn't do anything to correct the denial decision. My money is gone. The amount was $105.63. After reading other reviews I consider myself lucky. It could've been more. Please look further for a bank that will properly investigate a fraud claim. Fraud is alive and well. I will close my account after 20 years of good standing. I dislike a company that pass the blame from one sector to another.

By the way I was never given a phone number for the merchant or a tracking number. The representative with the fraud department told me the merchant did not need to provide a phone number or tracking number. They use a system for disputes and a phone number is not required. I asked her to see if she can find the merchant and she said merchants take websites down or change them all the time. In my mind my transaction was fraud and not a merchant dispute.

I've been banking with Regions Bank for 4 years. They have ripped me off from the beginning. Rearranging my deposits and debits on my account to make it look like I've overdrawn my account then charging $36 per overdraft. See I keep a very close check on my account multiple times a day. Every time I purchase something I log in and check that the money has come out. It always looks good to me at first. After a few days cleared deposits go into pending section. Cleared debits for the bigger amounts of money THAT HAVE ALREADY CLEARED and are OUT OF THE PENDING SECTION Switch with smaller debits that are still pending. So the smaller ones go to the cleared section and the larger ones go back to pending.

I have several times moved money from another account me and my husband have at a different bank to this one to keep it from screwing us, but it's beginning to get out of hand. A few years ago I received a check for $350 Because of this very issue. They have not changed their dirty dealings and are still ripping me and a lot of other people off. Stay away from regions bank. Someone managed to withdraw $1500 from my checking account. They did nothing to resolve the situation. They assisted me in no way. They denied my claim and refused to dispute the fraudulent transactions.

When I called to have a new debit card ordered they asked me what I would like for my pin to be over the phone. I have never experienced this before. It seems like a completely insecure way to handle a pin for someone's debit card. I had another issue with a merchant who was supposed to deliver food to me and never did. They also refused to dispute the transaction. Currently they have frozen my account and left me without access to my funds. This is only a day before I was going to put my rent money into the account to pay my rent. Thank God all they got was less than $500. I called and no one can explain to me why over $200 was withdrawn from my account with a notation that says back office. Another $250+ sits frozen and I don't know if I will ever get my funds back. It has been over 21 days and every time I call either the branch or the 800 number and no one can give me an explanation as to why there is a hold on my account.

If anyone uses this bank to store the majority of their money I feel extremely sorry for them. You would be better off hiding your money around your home than trusting these banks. If you call to get help with anything you will be greeted with workers who live in the ** of Louisiana. They cannot assist you with anything. Their customer service is nonexistent. If you ever have a problem with your debit card or account they will offer you no assistance whatsoever.

They have been investigated by the FBI and sued for charging people false overdraft fees and for an insurance scam. Read the other reviews about how they have stolen thousands from people with their check scams. Basically if you ever deposit a check into your account they will say that they cannot honor the check and that it has been returned to the issuer of the check. They will never return the funds to the issuer. They cash the check and steal the money. There are also numerous reviews that state that their ATMs take deposits and don't credit the account for the deposit. So basically they are also stealing people's money at the ATM. Get your money out of their bank and run!!!

I recently had an issue with my account that was not resolved, yet, I was on the phone with customer service for an hour. I finally hung up as they kept putting me on hold to talk to someone else. I even had to go to the back of the “line” when they “transferred” me to another department. They were not apologetic at all and did not solve my problem. I have decided to switch banks, but, wanted to share my experience with others to save them time. Oh, and they have lots of fees that other banks do not have. Frankly, they are big business and do not care about their personal banking customers.

I had Regions for over five years, always fairly good experience. Then they changed to the chip card. It never worked, so they had to keep sending a new one every few months. Everyone wants your debit card now- no one takes checks, so every time they sent the new card, I had to call several companies- it was a pain! In addition, the customer service was awful. I would often wait up to an hour to speak to someone who did not seem to care. After a year of switching 20 bills to my new card every four months and waiting an hour for help, I switched to a new bank.

This is where the fun began. Again, everyone has my card-- and like many of us, I forget what comes out from who- because it's all instant. So once my direct deposit is pulled out of the account, they pay and charge me a fee, I do a bank to bank wire from new account and regions takes two days to put the money in the account, so now I have a NSF fee for each one. In addition, they will not close the account for 2 to 3 business days after it hits a zero balance so they can see if you forgot another bill. It's staged to make you owe them tons of money you would not otherwise-- I Opted out of debit card payments if nothing is in account, but they are paying them anyway! I urge you to seriously consider NEVER banking with them, if you value your sanity and your good credit. Recovering from something like this is impossible- and just feeds their fee hungry existence. RUN- go to any other bank.

I have been a customer of Regions Bank for at least 25 years. I'm a senior widow who had to file for bankruptcy, mostly because I was scammed. Around two weeks ago I got correspondence stating that my checking and savings accounts were going to be closed. When I went into the bank to find out about it, the associate called the main office and found out that it was because I had filed for bankruptcy. I was not told that they would be freezing my funds right away, but I found that out a day later.

I was given very little notice so I could arrange for my auto-deposits and my auto-drafts to be cancelled. I also would not have access to my funds on the day the account was closed because they were going to be mailed to me. This immediately put me in a difficult position because I had to make it through the week on what little I had, and had to borrow money to pay for medication for myself and my terminally ill pet. When I finally got the check I could deposit it in a new bank, however because it was a new account and Regions had sent me a cashier's check I have to wait nine days before my funds are accessible. If Regions cared, they might have found a different way of getting me the funds, which would be more accessible.

This has caused me a lot of stress in a situation that is already extremely difficult for me. I believe that I am being treated like a criminal for the simple reason that I, because of circumstances, had to file for bankruptcy. I feel that Regions is acting in ways reminiscent of a different time in history where the poor are treated very punitively. They are, in fact, very backward. This is very mean-spirited and I have no kind thoughts of Regions anymore! At some points they may have tried to help me, but I didn't get good guidance when I took out a loan, and also in the past when I had funds invested in an annuity. If you are looking for a new bank, my advice to you is to stay as far away as possible from Regions Bank!

They did nothing except submit a derogatory report to the credit bureau. Now they are telling me it could be 60 days before they can fix it. If they do.

I spoke to my other bank to see if there was a problem on their end. I was told that no attempt was made by Regions to withdraw the money. They just didn't do it. I have spent over an hour in a branch with a manager. To his credit he was trying to be helpful. My credit is very important to me and I work hard at keeping it great. No late payments in over 20 years. All this over $6.37. I have shown them the documentation proving that it is their fault. They will not take responsibility. My credit score dropped significantly. They do not answer their phones either. My last call was on hold for 90 minutes, I finally hung up as I had other things needing to be done.

I would think after all the hassle and expense I have gone through they would compensate me for my time, trouble and gas to go to the branch by issuing a $50 Visa/MasterCard card and immediately fixing the credit report. Not in 60 days. In essence they are stopping me from seeking other credit that might need a higher credit score. I had an over 800 credit score for years until this debacle. Now it's in the low 700s. On Jan 3 I got paid so the daily routine to pay bills is started. I use debit card as I do not like cash because I usually spend it and never remember where it goes. I had been delivering puppies from 5:30 am and since I hadn't had any money prior week groceries in the house were at 0. So 1st stop is at local general store spending about 17. 2nd stop was at atm to grab a little cash to pay a bill where cards aren't accepted. Ok good.

Then comes 3rd stop. Taco bell 14. For some bean burritos. Nope! FRAUD ALERT stops payment. REALLY?? Well they tell me it was because I took cash from the atm (and mentioned it was a different bank atm.) Ok, number 1 that atm is 10 min away my bank atm 40 min. Also needed to be in that town at that time so just the choice I had to make. Well here I am. Starving. Got on the phone, of course, automated to no end and when I did get a human I was sent yet to the other dept. On hold over an hr, still no food mind you. After the hour hold the call went away. They had to have hung up because I sure didn't.

Went to my bank on Monday to fix this. Human person better, right?!?! Not. Today is Wednesday and finally SPOKE to a fraud alert person and got my card on, where she very rudely hung up on me without letting me check to see why they didn't email me... as I DON'T HAVE cell phone service to receive the text they supposedly send.

One thing they said. "Someone could have stolen your card and went to the atm." SURE THEY COULD HAVE. BUT what thief goes to the atm and gets 100 out and sees the balance on the receipt and doesn't go back and clean your account out? REALLY! A thief leaving a balance? And then said thief goes to Tacobell for bean burritos instead of out to an expensive restaurant? Haha I think Not! So if Regions wants to act like this fine. They aren't the bank for me. And if you use a debit card a lot it probably isn't the bank for you.

I wouldn't recommend them to ANY one. I have been with Regions for 15 plus years. Always withdrew cash and made purchases without ever having an issue. Ever. Until they've added this fraud alert which you can't take off the account by the way. Sure fraud alert can be good but really Regions your reasonings do NOT make any sense. We've been in the process of moving our money around so that we can set up to purchase our first home, & a few PayPal transactions processed without warning.

Overdraft late fees charged to my account the 24, 26, & 30th of December. I called December 30-31 and the female rep I spoke with was going to get the 3 OD fees waived - she said it would process Thurs-Fri due to the New Years' holidays. I was patient and waited considering what I was told, and I was hit with ANOTHER OD fee, this time for $180.

I called the day I noticed, and after ~20 minutes on hold, I spoke with a male rep. He said I was only allotted 3 waives per year, & he was only able to waive the $180, & I was responsible for any other negative balance (the 3 previous OD fees I was told would be waived) - I transferred money immediately to get out of the red, but it took a few days to process. Once again (1/7/2020), I was hit with another OD fee of $108. I called as soon as I could, and after 15 minutes on hold, the rep (Chris) said he can't do anything about it, and neither can his supervisor. I told him I wanted to close my account, and he collected me with a woman in Collections. I set up a transfer with her to bring the account balance to $0, and she took a formal complaint in my name.

Over the past 2 weeks, Regions Bank has charged me $396 in fees. $180 was waived, but I was still crushed by $216 in fees. This will be the last time Regions Bank takes any of my money. As a lifetime customer, I feel extremely disrespected. Regions Bank has managed nearly EVERY CENT I've had since I was 16 years old. We sent the money on a Saturday, and the overdraft fee posted on a Wednesday. The account is now -$3.00 and when I asked them to close it, I was told that they can’t due to that (even though it’s overdrawn due to their overdraft fee) and that if we don’t add funds by 8pm, there will be another fee. They can eat up their own fees because we are done with them. Thank you regions for being the stupidest Bank in the entire world proving that you don't have any customer service skills and making people have to get out of bed after they've taken their sleeping pills trying to get themselves killed. Sorry not me. I will handle this later after I've gotten some sleep. But if I could give zero Stars I would or even negative zero 10 plus stars for stupidity I would!

Why can you not help someone over the phone? Why can you not have a number on the back of the card? Why should your customers have to Google a way to get ahold of your customer service? That's right no one should! That is why you have so many 1 * comments because your bank is awful. Your bankers Life by about accounts. Your people steal out of people's accounts!

And that is another thing your bankers Life by and say that your account is free when in all actuality it is not and then they take money out of your account every month. No sorry honey that is called stealing so not only is your customer service crappy but you're also stealing money out of my account so you're going to be damn lucky if I don't sue the crap out of you! That is called stealing my money when I do not give you authorization to take money out of my account. When this stupid banker told me my account was free I didn't know I needed to have a voice recorder in there when she told me that my account was free! I got a few of $36 I called and they then notified me that I had a couple overdraft but since I’m new they will return it to me. They did return one and told me to wait for the other 2 I had pending. I then call now since I never got a reimbursement for the other 2 which all happened together, I was told they can’t do anything for me that because they had already did one and sorry about the misunderstanding from their employee. I paid a bill, the amount was taken out, I had funds left over, but somehow I ended up with an overdraft the next week. I called and was told that the merchant put it through last night (weekday night), and it caused my account to be overdrawn. I called the company and was told that they received the payment 2 days after I made the payment. So I called Regions back to discuss it, but didn’t get anywhere. It’s always something with them, I’m done with Regions.

The menu items were not appropriate for my question and when I selected the most general option, I was told to enter my SS# but went right to a message two digits in. I also tried to call my branch but of course that just went to the general Regions' customer service number. I already waited ten minutes to speak to someone this week and I'm currently doing the same. Regions just does not get it. They think that someone yelling out "hi" when you come in the door represents good customer service. In my experience when you really need something their customer service is awful. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! 1st instance, the atm stole my $500 deposit and shredded my card. The customer service reps are useless. They are uneducated in regards to Regions policies. When you call you are on hold for at least 30 mins. One time I was on hold for over an hour about Zelle and my issue still wasn't resolved. I was transferred 3 times. The only reason why I held so long is because I needed the issue to be resolved that night so I can sent money to that account to cover transactions scheduled to come out the next day. I ended up with $108 in overdraft fees. Customer service reps ARE NOT equipped to resolve issues. They will just tell you to go into the branch... the same branches that are opened during my working hours so it's impossible for me to go in there during the week.

THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK..... when they closed my account because it was at a $0 balance. I had just paid my bills and didn't have any money left over. So they did a "soft close" because my balance was zero and the only way to activate it was to make a deposit in the branch. The same branch that opens at 9 and close at 5pm (I get off at 5:30). I couldn't even zelle myself money cause it kicked it back cause my account was "closed". Every time we had a question on our account they would make us "come into a branch to discuss," when it was something they could take care of on the phone, they just wanted to make it difficult to get anything done. They would find reasons to slap fees on our accounts, would open my daughter's closed account and charge fees to her, it took us four months to finally get an account permanently closed (hopefully, still waiting to be sure this has actually been done). We are both business owners and if we treated our clients the way they treat their clients, we would be out of business, stay away!! (I gave it one star because 0 stars wasn't an option.)

My wallet was stolen several weeks ago and the experience of trying to receive a new checking card from Regions has been hell. They said they shipped a new card as soon as I called. I was told it would take 7-10 business days, which already seemed pretty ridiculous because I’ve received new cards way sooner in the past.

After going to the bank several times to withdrawal cash for the meantime, the staff would keep telling me “you should receive your card today.” Well on the 10th day... still no card, so I called. After 15 minutes of being on hold multiple times, they finally say “oh I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened to your card. We can send a new one.” The annoying part was that they did not offer to mail it quicker, I had to specifically ask. Well now I’m on the third week without a card and still waiting. I had to call again today (on hold for another 15 minutes...) to receive a tracking number. I just looked it up and I’ll have to wait another 2 days.

Overall, I believe that if they can send new cards through FedEx in 2-3 business days, they should have offered that service the first time rather than shipping through regular mail. Especially since it was a situation where my card was stolen rather than expired. Also, the staff should not have told me repeatedly that my card “should be in the mail” if that is unrealistic. They also should avoid sounding so nonchalant about a card getting lost in the mail? That is a pretty big deal since my bank account could be compromised. Lastly, waiting on hold for 15 minutes every time I would like to speak with someone is pretty ridiculous for a bank as large as Regions. I would think they would have the staff to provide quicker service.

Regions Bank Lost $1000 of My Money and No One Can Seem To Find It! I had auto payment on my checking account to my credit card. When my credit card balance was 0 dollars Regions did not stop two of my payments from going into my account. These two payments were then refunded out of my credit card account, but to where? No one knows. The credit card account is no longer linked to my social security number. No one knows where the $1000 dollars or the account is. They say the only way they can see the account is with my credit card number (which I shredded the credit card). How does a bank lose $1000????

On a separate note I about a year and a half ago I moved to Puerto Rico and updated my address with Regions. I have been receiving bank statements like clockwork. Earlier this year my debit card expired. After calling the bank and asking them to send a new debit card I waited for 2 weeks and did not receive a card. I called Regions back and they sent another new card... which I didn't receive. This went on for 2 months. Finally I had to change my address on all of my accounts in order to have the card sent to my parents. My parents then had to mail me my debit card. If I wasn't lucky enough to have parents to who could send my debit credit. I would have had no way to access my money. Honestly after these two experiences if I could give Regions negative stars I would. How does a banking institution think it is ok to treat their customers this way.

Despite this, we made changes that improved our profitability by over 30% and removed unnecessary cost. Mind you we did this just because it was good business. BUT, our market and market competitors who also financed with Regions in this industry mismanaged their businesses and many of them shuttered. So, what Regions kindly did for us was put out an olive branch to "make sure we were taking care of you" and with the other hand told us that they were going to start looking for ANY reason to accelerate our loans (despite us never missing any payments ever).

What they did instead was comb through the covenants in the loan agreements (that to this point 2 years into the project did not seem to matter) and they started hitting us with detailed "technical" defaults that are so arbitrary and unscrupulous that it would put any small business in jeopardy... At any point, whatever suits their needs. What a bunch of liars... A den of thieves. In short, they are not a "partner" to any small business. They are liars and mislead those that depend on them for good advise. I own a small business. I burn a lot of gas in order to run the business. I applied for a separate gas only card in order to help track that expense, primarily to ease collection of paper receipts. Universal Premium Fleet Card, "issued by Regions Bank" charges predatory level fees for unnecessary services that they do NOT ask the business owner to sign up for (I do realize that this is done "legally").

I stopped using the card several months ago. Instead of the standard $20 per month "credit risk" fee (ridiculous, but "ok" as a relatively new business...), they started charging $8 per month for "accelerator rewards elite" and $10 per month for "Fraud Protector Fee". I did not directly consent to said charges, and have likely dinged my business credit by not paying attention to a card that I had ceased use of.

They charge $75 plus interest for a late payment (excessive in my opinion, but ok...). Billing is done on a 15 day cycle... Numerous fees involved with this card, most are VERY SNEAKILY added. Interestingly enough, if you call in to contest the fees, they do reverse them. A signal that they do realize that what they are doing is predatory? I highly suggest that business owners avoid the Universal Premium Fleet Card "services".

So in March of 2019, after my area was declared a national disaster area, I asked Regions to allow me to use my investment funds to rebuild my house. They referred me to Forethought. Why? Forethought Insurance said I had purchased an annuity and it would cost over 4200.00 to refund my investment. They said there was no way they would allow me my funds for free. So a company that deals with life and death on an hourly basis can not allow a person that is now homeless because of federal disaster, a fee free access to his funds. How money grubbing can a national company be to take from the homeless to line its corporate pockets. My credit score is around 820 (depending on whether you pull it from Experian, TransUnion, or Equifax). I have six figures (cash money, not including IRA, 401K, etc.) in the bank. I have never missed a payment in my entire life for anything (20+ years of having credit). I have several credit cards with a total credit limit of more than $100,000, yet am using approximately $500 of that total credit limit... Yet it took Regions nearly a full week to approve my credit card application. That was just the beginning.

Prior to the card arriving in the mail, Regions sent two separate pieces of correspondence. Each of them had my name egregiously misspelled. Due to the unique nature of my name, I am always careful to spell it letter-by-letter when communicating with others, especially during a credit card application process. Despite these measures, the person taking the application still got it wrong. Consequently the credit card arrived with the wrong name as well. I had to call Regions and speak with not one, not two, but FIVE separate people (including a supervisor) to have this issue corrected... And it still didn't get fixed. I had to call a second time, speak with multiple Regions representatives, and spend another 60+ minutes on the phone. Finally, the company sent a credit card replacement with the correct name.

Next, I activated the card and attempted to create an online profile. Unfortunately, the online profile creation was anything but smooth. In fact, the system asked for personal information including my FULL nine-digit SSN, which was fine... But then the system also asked "whether or not I had any accounts with Regions...". How can a bank "not know" whether or not a customer has an account and/or what accounts that customer has with that bank when the customer provides their SSN??? Unbelievable. So I continued to provide the requested information (despite the fact that it should have never been asked in the first place) and once it was all input into the system, the website displayed an error message: "We apologize for the inconvenience, however we are unable to process your request at this time".

I immediately called customer service, but they stated that they were "unable to help" because it was Sunday afternoon and that I would need to speak with another department. I called back the next day (Monday) and spoke with someone from the internet banking department. They asked me what error message I received the previous evening and I read it to them. They then stated that the reason for the error message was because I input incorrect information into the system, but this was 100% incorrect. All the information asked by the system was personal information and was entered properly. I then went through the identical steps to process the online account setup and for some reason did not receive the error message that displayed the night before. Fine. Next the system requested a username and password, but the password parameters/requirements were just ridiculous.

To be sure, I have several other credit cards, including Chase, Wells Fargo, Sam's Club, and other online accounts including TD Ameritrade, Fidelity Investments (401K.com), eBay, and even PayPal. They all have the SAME password... I do not want to have a "special password" just for Regions... Yet I am forced to have one. Just ridiculous. Then the system asked for several "security questions", none of which applied to me. When I attempted to type a specific answer for all three the system wouldn't allow that, either. There is no way I'm going to remember all this, and no need. Once again, I have all the aforementioned accounts and have NEVER had a problem with my same password, nor has anyone EVER hacked into any of these accounts over decades (I've been a member of eBay with the same password, for example, since 1998).

But Regions has to make things difficult. Fine. I have a special password "just for you", Regions... Now for the payment method. I spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out how to simply add a checking account (same one I use for all my other credit cards), but there appears to be NO OPTION to add one. Any other credit card uses virtually the same method: you simply add an account by clicking a link, inputting the routing number to identify the bank/financial institution, and add the account number. I've done it many times before for all of my other credit cards. But not with Regions. Instead of making the process simple, the bank tries to force the user to open an account with Regions, which absolutely, positively, unequivocally is NOT going to happen.

At this point I am still unable to add a bank account. I have already spent hours on the phone, wasting my time with this company and still do not have my account set up. This is by FAR the most difficult experience I have ever had with any bank, and Regions is by FAR the most incompetent bank I have ever dealt with in 20+ years of having credit. I wouldn't recommend Regions to my worst enemy.

Well, my check has gotten lost in the mail before so I don't do that anymore. I asked to speak to a supervisor this time because it just got so asinine! But I find a Credit Union is best for loans and smaller investments, and they have lower fees. Other Banks could learn a lot from Regions. I don't know where the value and loyalty comes into play for their customers. I did not have that experience. I experienced fraudulent activity on my account. A check for a large deposit ($8 hundred and some dollars) was made into my account from what I thought was a legitimate banking institute. Regions froze my account due to "security reasons". When I contacted them to find out why they said, "we have received several of these checks drawn on this particular bank (Costa Ibiza, Ltd.) from Community Choice Financial, that were fraudulent. Until our fraud department does a thorough investigation, all monies are unavailable at this time. We advise you to file a police report, a fraudulent report to BBB and to all credit bureaus."

I complied and presented them with a police report. At this point I felt exhausted and mortified to say the least. They told me that a check for the remaining funds that belonged to me for $10.36 would be mailed to me. After a week of several calls for the status on the account, they were charging me a $15.00 fee for the return of that fraudulent check that was deposited into my account. I was violated by that scam and I had to pay for it??? I requested to have that charge removed and to return my money, that had nothing to do with the fraudulent check deposit, and the rep said that she would do what she can to have it reversed.

Well then, after a couple days past, I still hadn't heard anything. I contacted them again. I was told that there were pending charges that were paid for two separate transactions. Those transactions were already completed before the fraudulent activity occurred! I had a bank account in great standing with another local bank for three years.

I am a faithful, hardworking citizen for a company that actually banks with Regions, which is why I moved my bank account here. What a big fat mistake. I know it was only $10, but for a big "REPUTABLE"? bank as this, they did not treat me with loyalty, or value my business. Was it because I didn't have any money or carry a "high value" account with them? They took all that I had. I live paycheck to paycheck. That was all I had until a week and a half before our next payday came. I felt judged, scrutinized and belittled for a scam that I didn't commit. I can say "Thank goodness" that they caught it so that I didn't use the funds that I desperately needed to fix my vehicle with, but then to take my last $10?!?!?! Shameful.

The deposits were done before 2 pm on Friday and when you call the number on the back of the card they talk to you like you're stupid. If the money from my deposits was not in the bank when it said they were, by that logic once the deposits are posted then the money should be in my account right? And it's never shown up. Reviews that I have read seem to point to the same conclusion I've came up with. These fees are charged as a way to pocket extra money from people in hopes they don't look at their statements. Things to know:

    1. If you make a check deposit for over 4K they will hold it for a full 10 business days. I switched banks and I thought writing a check for $4,200 was simple enough. Well, I could not use the account for 2 weeks. It was another local bank and the check had cleared my old bank the next day.
    2. They do not offer bank to bank transfers. They offer something like Zelle or pop which are person to person services. I do not trust those services. And they cost money.

    3. Minimum for free checking is $1,500 unless you have direct deposit. That became impossible to keep consistently all the year.

I eventually closed Regions. I did get a nice $150 bonus for opening a credit card with them. Which I eventually closed because there are no perks such as real cash back. I switched to a credit union that requires $0 balance for free checking. Banks will close checking accounts if they suspect fraud. By law, they cannot tell a person by phone. The person has to wait for the letter in the mail. Fraud can often happen by people depositing a work-at-home scam check.

You would be surprised how many people are still falling for this decades old scam. Often scammers use the name Chase for these counterfeit cashier's checks. Many other things can raise flags such as change of address, getting a judgement on another checking account, having a negative balance at a different bank, being on ChexSystems, having a negative balance for too long, changing an address and not notifying banks. The list goes on and on, but the reasons are always legitimate.

    Original Review: April 6, 2019

I applied online for a Regions Credit Card in response to an invitation that I had received in the mail. I had been "pre-selected" and there was a promo code for the application. After entering all my personal information online, I received a message that my application could not be processed at this time. There was a phone number that I could call. When I called, the representative said that my online application did not process for some reason but she could take my application over the phone.

After giving all my personal information again, I was sent a code via text message and was told that I would receive an email from Regions that would require my reply with the code. That was several hours ago. I still have not received the email. After reading all the reviews on this site, I am afraid that I may be a victim of the runaround that several others have experienced. If I had it to do over, I would toss the unopened credit card invitation in the trash and save myself the aggravation.

Do NOT bank with Regions. I was with Regions for 5 years and the majority of those 5 years were great. But over the last few months I’ve been receiving OD fees on my account, which should not be happening because when I opened my account I refused to opt in to OD coverage. The first few I had thrown out because I told them it should never had have happened. The OD was $13 and the fee was $36! Talk about interest right? Then the following month I got another OD fee. $10 OD and $36 fee. This time I went in person and asked what was happening. They told me that if you have automated withdrawals on your account the bank decides if you get OD fees (came to find out later that was a lie, they were supposed to reject payment) but I decided ya know what, I’ll pay it and they’ll fix it.

NOPE!! This month I received yet another OD of $8 and another wonderful fee of $36! Now keep in mind these ODs are happening within 24-48 hours of my check clearing my account. So I have no doubt the bank sees that I have a paycheck pending but they still hit me with a fee that I opted out of in the first place. This is how they treat loyal customers, they scam you out of your money with fees that should not be hitting your account. If I don’t have enough in my account they are supposed to refuse the transaction but instead they wanna make their money off of you so they do whatever they want with your money to make money off of you.

This most recent time I wasn’t nice about it at all, I spoke with a banker who refused to do anything about the fee and told me “oh we can set your account up to refuse ODs” but when I told her it was never supposed to be permitting them she had absolutely no explanation to give and still refused to clear the fee. I am done with Regions. Walmart treats their people better than Regions and that’s saying something there. So if you’re reading this don’t make my mistake! Don’t bank with Regions! They will steal your money any way they can!! Also: Even if you set your account up to reject the ODs they still charge you a $36 fee to refuse the transaction, so either way you are going to pay an OD fee!! What a petty joke of a bank to charge their customers these fees on amounts under the fee amount.

I understand that if your account doesn't have the funds to cover a purchase that you will be charged a fee. I understand that! But, you see what they do is, they manipulate your transactions and reorder them so they can charge you fees.

I made a purchase on March 1st and they held the transaction until my balance was low to over a week later so that they could charge me a overdraft fee. I even called the company where the charge was from and they told me that the amount cleared days before Regions is saying it did. It had already cleared with them. It was even showing that it had cleared on my Regions online banking for days before and reflecting my balance, then all of a sudden when my balance gets low they hit me with a fee and try to say the charge was just now posting to my account. That is transaction reordering and it's just bad business. I will be switching banks because I don't trust my little bit of hard earned money in the hands of establishments that are not trustworthy and treat their loyal customers this way.

My paycheck, my social security, they sent my phone bill back, I couldn’t pay my rent. Not ONE person including my own branch was helpful in any way. So here I sit on a Saturday on the side of the road with $12,000.00 in my bank, 4 miles in gas left till I run out and no access to one single dollar WHICH says available and had cashed through my brother's bank DAYS AGO! I’m insulin depends and can’t get my meds. LEGALLY NO BANK CAN HOLD MY SOCIAL SECURITY AND WEEKLY PAYCHECKS CAPTIVE! I am spreading all of this on EVERY PAGE SITE CAN FIND, along with tell my children community, family and friends (and I got A LOT) to never use these thieves!!!

Deposited local checks into my account only to have a hold put on my entire account, debit cards cancelled, and only "there is nothing we can do ☺" from the local branch, branch I opened my account at and 1800 #. The most useless inconvenient inconsiderate bank ever. Funds were verified. Also check issuers confirmed with Regions fraud prevention and after I kept reaching out for help they EXTENDED the check hold for 3 more days. My business is now out of work for a week. Can't buy materials for construction jobs, or gas, or pay help, or pay my rent, and my son's 10 year old birthday... Regions will screw you up. They have you by the balls and "there is nothing we can do ☺." As soon as this nightmare is over I'm closing the account and will bash them until I see their doors close. Worthless excuse of a bank.

Regions put a hold on my entire account because of a large deposit I made. They kept the hold on the account even after the funds were verified and had already cleared the account it was coming from. I was told by the branch that I had to come into the bank and remove the money that was in the account before the deposit was made, in order to access the original funds. I have to remove my legitimate funds in order to get access to my own money! What happens if a check I wrote tries to go through my account?? Would I be charged overdraft fees due to no fault of my own? No one could answer that question. And I repeat the funds have been cleared from the account the funds were coming from. The person who wrote me the check even called their bank and confirmed that the check was good.

After calling the Regions corporate office who could tell me nothing, I was told to call the branch that I originally opened my account out of (even though that branch had been closed for several years). I was then told to contact the branch where I submitted my deposit. That branch called the corporate fraud dept who said the account could be held up to 3 to five days. The bank was positioned to hold my own personal legitimate funds even though the deposit was good and verified?!! As a bank customer I am not allowed to contact the corporate fraud dept. I then placed a complaint with the bank corporate office and I was told the account could be held up to 11 days. Which is it 3, 5, or 11??? I was then told I could contact the fraud dept and speak to someone there.

After being transferred and clicking option 2 (which was something about getting information on a submitted claim) my call was dumped into a generic mailbox that was full so no messages could be left. If I could pull all of my money out and go to a different bank I would, however they are still holding my verified deposit!! I understand the bank protecting itself. They could have held my deposit weeks that would have been fine. But to hold my funds that were already in my account for possibly up to 11 days, is beyond ridiculous!!! I will make sure everyone I come in contact with hears this story and as soon as everything is made available I will be removing my money from Regions and banking somewhere else.

I am with Regions Bank and I monitor my account usage after every transaction and recently I had a fee added to my account for $108. When I contacted them, I was informed that my account was overdrafted for 0.17 (17 cent) and then another transaction for 1.07. I explained to them that I check my account after every use of my debit card and they told me that sometimes it won’t show up and there was nothing they could do about my fees. This bank is stealing people's money and covering it up by accessing fees that the account owner should never have. Someone needs to be informed of what is going on.

They are trying to get rid of their cheaper non high net worth customers through faulty call to bookkeeping practices, long holidays, deposits made to their ATMs of cash or checks is the slowest call to bookkeeping in America. They don't honor the nation's ECN system which made digital bookkeeping easier for the bank and a necessity for Americans... ie NSF fees from gas station rollovers, also we noticed secret periodic discontinuance of customers requested online stipulations or when online requests for overdraft protection were taken off unbeknownst to the customer.

We also noticed various financial services apps linked to a Regions account were handing out reversal of funds charges because Regions decided not to honor those established relationships and did not notify the customer... ie don't expect an ACH transaction to go through to your brokerage app or any app that requires funds transferal. They've been behind the scenes removing those established connections and this results in reversal charges to you. Please know that this has less to do with a local branch that may remarkably do a good job helping customers, these are stunts pulled from corporate offices. If you're a member of the 21 century working class you want to avoid this migraine headache at all cost.

I'm dissatisfied with Regions Bank. I Trusted them with financial funds and every week it's a different story. Do not trust Regions Bank. At first my account was set up properly. As time went by, items that you purchase from stores start to pend longer than post. Their fees are ridiculous high. They will hurry and refund you for 1 overdraft item and take it back out of you at later date and holding items to pend before they post out, so you will have overdraft fees. Regions Bank is not a trusted institution. I have paid for a fine Monday 2/4/2019 morning to the courthouse out of my available balance transferred from my savings and I still have been charged an overdraft fee for my own money. Posted from account Friday night 2/8/2019. Not their money but mine. Poor poor service. I give them a F for ** You!!! Incompetent!

Got a line of credit on my home with Regions about two years ago. They refused to give me more than 20% loan to value Despite owning my home outright and having over 800 credit Score. Eventually closed the line due to constant unannounced changes in the rules to use the loan and pay it back. I have had more issues with this bank than anyone would believe. Now that I have closed the line, the bank is refusing to sign over an insurance check endorsed to me and the bank. That’s illegal! Despite the fact that a customer service rep who works for her told me to simply bring in the check and they would sign it... The manager at the bank is a robot who refuses to recognize that I have no account or monetary obligation to the bank. And won’t sign it. Stay far, far away.

My mother lived with me in a state with no Regions Banks but chose to keep her accounts with her East Peoria Regions branch. When she died, the branch manager, Ms. **, was amazingly helpful, compassionate, and knowledgeable. She filled out all the paperwork for me for an annuity with another company, calling them and even giving them her Social Security number when they questioned her. She issued a check immediately for my mother’s CD and made a very good suggestion to clear her checking account with a check to the funeral home. I know my mother always had very positive relationships with the bank staff, and I now understand her loyalty. Ms. ** greatly exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely bank there if so lived nearby. She made a difficult time so much easier for me, and I will always be grateful to her!

Enticed by their $200 bonus for opening a new personal checking account, I would pay them that just to quickly end this business relationship. Held two check deposits for 11 days, one of which was tendered by my previous bank. Locked me out of online banking until they cleared (still locked out as I write this). And, I'm done. Please keep in mind that at least with corporate, they were snarky and rude throughout. This place is a joke. Bank elsewhere unless you want to spend part of your working day dealing with this kind of nonsense.

Regions Bank is a total rip-off. I've never been robbed by a bank as worse as this. The overdrives are a total rip-off. Yesterday when I login to my account I have one pending overdraft. Today I deposit $120 into my account. Today I checked my account and they hit me with two overdrafts. When I call to complain they said my other overdrafts. I wasn't able to see it on my end but they can see it on their end. I am leaving this Bank. I advise you never to deal with this Bank.

Yesterday when I logged into my online Regions account to see about my (1) overdraft and I saw that Regions charged me (2) Overdraft Fees and I called them and they only gave me back $36 and $18 and the guy said they do the rest at midnight til 6 am. When I looked again on my online Regions account I saw they did refund the other $18, then when I logged on today I saw they took it off and I called them and they said I was not available for the second refund of the overdraft fee. They ripped me off $18 half of my other overdraft fee. So I'll be switching to another Bank. This Bank is a ripoff.

I'm totally frustrated with Regions. I have been banking with them for a long time now. Back in July of 2018 Regions allowed someone to change the address on my account. No one can tell me who did it! So therefore I went to redeem my reward points and I never received my gift cards because the cards went to the incorrect address. So I then asked could they resend the gift cards to the correct address and that say no. I also asked could I get my points back and they say no. That is so not fair. Totally frustrated with them. They didn't even try to accommodate a life long customer.

Yesterday, on the first business day of the year, I went to a brand new branch that opened very close to my home to open a small business account. The bank also has a branch conveniently located 2 blocks away from the office I rented for my new business. So it looked like an easy decision for starting our fresh new venture, with a wonderfully “green” look. The process of opening the account took more than TWO HOURS (thank goodness they have computers). Today I went to register in the online banking, and the page gave me an error. I tried again, and again, obtaining the same result… Then I decided to phone the customer service number noted there.

Once I got through the choices, the machine said, "Your estimated waiting time is 10 minutes," which were really almost 20, but well I’m thinking their computers are like that (or their systems…). When the agent heard my problem, she told me that the error refers to a piece of data, incorrectly input by me. While she was on the phone, I went back twice over every single question and answer, and everything was correct and I kept getting the same error message, and so I told her. To that she replied: "I apologize but at this point there is nothing I can do for you, that error means that there is an incorrect input, and unfortunately I cannot do the registration for you.” Do I have to live without online banking? Shall I have to call a Shaman of some sort to help me guess what is going wrong? Tomorrow first thing I’m going to close the account!

I’m closing my account today and moving on. Within the last month, Regions has created more problems for me with no solutions given on their end. They’ve run out of money (that’s what the teller told me when coming to the bank for a withdrawal). The next closest branch was more than 30 mins away. Regions assessed an overdraft fee in anticipation of an overdraft. After waiting more than 20 mins to speak with someone on the phone, they say they can’t refund me because at midnight I had a transaction come in for the next day that “would’ve over drafted me” and that was their reasoning for taking $36 from me. It’s ridiculous! I’m going to a bank that has quality customer service and doesn’t want to take your hard earned money.

I had the most horrendous experience December 21, 2018 at the Regions Bank, Belle Forest Circle, Nashville branch. I went in to add my new bride to my checking account. I was waited on by an older man, Mike **, who didn't want to wait on me as he was on hold with his cell phone for his personal business, but thought he might be able to squeeze us in. He then ordered my bride's granddaughter to sit outside the cubicle and that "He would keep an eye on her."

Without asking me, he listed Debbie by her maiden name and then said to use her married name he would need a marriage certificate. I pulled our's out and he said angrily, "You're holding out on me, Earl." Mike didn't like the way the marriage certificate was printed by the state and tried to call the issuing clerk. I guess he thought I had printed it myself and wanted to verify the veracity of it. As it was after 4 p.m. the office was closed and he refused to use her married name. I told him, "Fine, go ahead."

He then announced that he didn't like the tone of my voice and that if I didn't start behaving he was going to push the button to call the police and have me arrested??? For not liking the TONE of my voice???? As my friend would say, "What the what?" All throughout the time we were in his office, he lectured us on things like he wished he lived in the country, that he would never come to town. His threat to "push the button that is only two inched from my hands and have the police arrest me" indicates that he needs serious psychiatric help and should not be allowed to deal with the public. I tried to close my accounts but as one had my daughter on it and she was not there, could not close them both. I will not return to this branch but this man is a danger to the public. Do not go there! #regionsbank #belleforrest #Bellvue #nashville
