So I am very dissatisfied with OneMain Financial. I got a conditional approval upon verification I sent in all my information they requested. Waited all day and then got denied even though I sent all documentation they required and everything was exactly as I told them. I even had collateral. And no one will give me a reason why. I am super dissatisfied with my experience.

I won't trust a OneMain Financial to help you with finance because they will always reject the approval. They always preapprove a loan and reject you when you go to the branch to sign a contract. They will laugh at you saying, "You are not qualified. Go away." OneMain Financial located at Florence KY is a fraud. Thanks for your lie. I am glad that I am doing business with Chase.

I have been a OneMain customer for around 5 years. Never missed a payment. I originally borrowed 6000 to do remodeling on my house and renewed this loan twice once for 500 and once for 1500. From doing this my payments went from 190 per month to 480 per month and I have paid over 35,000 dollars for this one loan. When I checked my credit score OneMain said that my original loan amount was 12000 dollars. I have tried to talk with someone about this and they keep giving me the runaround and no one wants to talk about it. They will not even renew the loan to try to make the payments lower. My original loan amount was 6000 not 12000. Everything else on my credit report was right except OneMain. It should still have a original loan amount of 6000. No one wants to help? If I ever pay this loan off I will not deal with these people again. I feel as if I'm being ripped off and would not recommend Them to anyone.

Very Irate with this company! I applied with this company for a very small loan. I was told it was a good place to get approved. While I do not have perfect credit my credit is fair not bad! I have credit with other places and credit cards but these clowns turned me down and my credit score dropped big time! I am pissed beyond words. It took me several years after I divorced to get my credit back on track for these idiots to put a dent back into it and not help me after they sent a damned good approval status to me. Never will I ever apply with these clowns again!!
Updated on 10/29/2017: Well this is the 2nd round with them. I got a call the first time I was denied and explained to that my reason for denial was a security freeze I had on my credit. Was told to remove the freeze so they could see my credit history because the freeze brings it up blank. After I removed the freeze was told to reapply. Did just that! Lo and behold still denied from them even with the freeze off and stellar payment history. Also called my local branch and the lady who answered there was not very pleasant either. Emailed the local branch got no response at all! I am done!!! These people will never have to worry with me again! My credit keeps taking hits and lowering as you play games with me? I think NOT!!!!

Interest Rates are the worst. Being a long term (20 yrs of loans) never late, customer does not help. Just a real greedy company. I had another person apply just for the cause of it, her credit score was 801 and they still told her that her interest rate would be 28%. Just as bad as the PAYDAY LOANS, although I have never had to have a payday I have spoken to others that said they paid less interest with some PayDay Loans. Once this current loan is paid in full, I will never do business with them again. Like I said a real GREEDY COMPANY.

My nightmare began with this company when I gave the title to my 5th wheel as collateral. Approximately 1½ years later, this loan was paid in full and my understanding was that the lien release would be sent to the DMV. Fast-forward to today my husband and I made several attempts to sell our 5th wheel trailer and finally, after 6 months, found a buyer. My husband and I planned to use the $5,500 dollars to finally pay for the backyard our Home Owners Association was demanding we put in, or be fined. Thankfully, we just needed to do the paperwork, and get our money from the buyer. When I went to the DMV, they let me know that Springleaf still owned the title and would not allow for the bill of sale. Imagine my embarrassment. I made contact with Springleaf on Friday, September 1st and asked for them to expedite my title so that I could still make the transaction with the buyer.
In the meantime, my husband looked at the calendar 3 weeks out to take a vacation to landscape. Something we'd be able to do with the money from the 5th wheel. After much anticipation no title the entire week of September 11-15th. I called again on Friday, September 15th, and was told that the branch I took out the loan with would have the title. Nope. They didn't have it either. The buyer in the meantime is getting extremely frustrated and gives us two more weeks to get the title. With my pleading, I begged for someone at Springleaf to help me, and they basically told me it was probably in storage, but no one really knew who to contact or how to get it, if even possible, so they then promised to expedite the lien release. So you probably know where I'm going.
Fast-forward to today and still no lien release and a buyer who gave up. Not only did my husband lose his week of vacation to landscape, but we lost our buyer and $5,500 dollars and now have a $100/week fine due to our landscaping not being started. This all could have been prevented had our title been sent to us. This is criminal behavior and not even one person has apologized! Still no title! Criminals!

Took a SECURE loan with One Main Financial. Prior to receiving the loan, it was suggested what kind of insurance was good for me to take out in case I become disabled or my car gets totaled. I agreed with the loan officer about my insurance. He explained them and had me sign/initial them. Three years later, my car get totaled and my car insurance pays the money to One Main Financial. The loan was suppose to be insured so why did they accept any monies from my car insurance company. When One Main Financial contacted me, they told me that I signed for disability insurance and life insurance and my car being totaled that I still had a balance to pay. They are very deceitful people working there at that time. I will never deal with this company again. DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!

I took out a loan with OneMain for $7,000. The local office was wonderful, and made everything very easy. The interest rate is fairly high, but it fit my immediate needs. I received the loan, set up my payments, and went about my business. If I pay the loan off strictly by their monthly terms, I'll be paying around $13,800 total. However, there is no penalty for pre-payment, so the interest paid could be significantly less.
Here's where things become... odd (and the reason that my review is only 2 stars instead of 5). They've reported my new loan to TU, Equifax, and Experian as $13,800. I've never experienced a loan showing up on my credit report where it included the unearned interest. I called the main contact number, and the customer service representative was unable to assist me, so she forwarded me back to my local office. My representative there was unsure about how/why this was happening, so he called the company to find out.
Their response was "It's a simple interest loan, so we report the total of all the payments that will be made." The website indicates that this is a "Pre-computed loan" (See image). This makes absolutely no sense to me, as it works exactly the same as a car loan or a mortgage (sans the collateral, of course), so the only thing that should be reported is the remaining principal. The biggest issue to me is that they're reporting a deceptive number that could have a negative impact on future credit requests.

Due to a large number of medical bills, etc. I decided to enroll in a Debt Management Plan to get my finances in order. Two days after I receive notification that OneMain has accepted the proposal from the Debt Management Company they deduct a payment from my bank account. Since I'm enrolled and you have agreed to their terms why are you taking money out of my account. Your payments will come from the Debt Management company. This is extremely unprofessional. Don't know if it arises to the level of illegal but in my book it is awfully close.

I received a mailer inviting me to apply for a loan with OneMain. I completed the online application and was immediately given a response which stated, "Congratulations! Your loan has been conditionally approved". I also receive an e-mail which stated my "Loan was Approved". The only conditions were government ID, income verification and title to a vehicle.
I then received a call from a female employee. She began asking me several questions related to my finances. OK, no problem. But as the questions continued, I felt like I was applying for a mortgage. I don't have the best credit and was politely told the loan could not be approved. OK, no problem. Not 2 minutes later, this same female called back and stated she thinks we can make this work. She then requested pay stubs and stated she would have a decisions later.
I receive a call later in the afternoon. This time this female began asking questions related to my income. She asked why would I need this loan if after all my bills are paid at the end of the month I still had $8,000.00 left over. In no way do I make this much and do not have that much money left over after expenses. She then began asking questions as to why certain things were on my credit report. After explaining them she stated my answers didn't make sense and became accusatory. She then put me on hold and came back stating the loan could not be approved. OK, again no big deal.
I am writing this to make people aware of the intrusive nature of the questions asked by this company when the loan I was applying for was secured by a vehicle. I again was not applying for a mortgage. I think this female employee was totally inexperienced and could not even add my monthly income correctly. Things happen for a reason!!!

I applied for a personal loan at the end of June through the online application. Was "approved" within minutes. Was supposed to be contacted within 15 minutes by a "personal loan specialist". The day came and went and heard nothing, so I went down to a branch. I came prepared with ID, SS card and a month worth of pay stubs. When I walked in it was as if I was bothering them, totally unprofessional. Gave them pay stubs, and loan person said I was only conditionally approved. Never heard a word back as days past. Every time I called the person I was working with always had something better to do than talk to me.
The receptionist there was the rudest most unprofessional person I've ever spoke with, when I pressed to speak with someone, she basically told me they were too busy and they'd get back to me when it was convenient for them. Week and a half goes by and I finally get through to someone who will answer my question. Turned out my application was denied because I couldn't prove my income! Even after they send you a misleading email telling you you're approved, and after never returning phone calls and emails after sending you an email telling you to call them to ask you questions so they can get you final approval! I was denied although I had pay stubs but because I receive a commission as part of my paycheck, they can't count that, so they said I couldn't prove my income.
Even though I am guaranteed a minimum commission and had proof with my RSR contract that I signed with my company. The woman tried to help me by reopening the application, and resubmitting the pay stubs with the company contract, but these uneducated ignorant fools that work there could not comprehend my pay structure. Long story short, almost a month of my time and life were wasted by this incompetent and misleading company. I put up with it because I thought they were my only option because I had taken out a very small personal loan of 1000 within the past 12 months but have a 710 credit score. In the end I filled out an application with Prosper on a whim, and it turns out I was approved for more money for a 1/4 of the interest rate these crooks would have nailed to a cross for.
All the same information I gave One Main I gave to prosper and all I had to do was have a 10 min conversation with their representative and he FOUND a way to make it work for me. The process took a total of 3 business days and the money is on its way. The best thing that ever happened to me was not getting involved with One Main and its poorly trained, unprofessional joke of a "loan specialist". Avoid these people like the plague and go deal with professionals at Prosper or LendingTree if you go the inline route... Thanks for nothing One Main, so happy it didn't work out.

This company is a wolf dressed in lambs clothing. You think that they're the only ones you can do business with, and then upon approval of a loan, that they are saviors. However, they fail to mention that any loan with them is "pre-computed". This means that no matter when you pay the loan off that you're gonna have to pay, upfront, interest on all those months financed. They act super nice and wizzing you through the paperwork, while talking like your best friend. However, when you realize what they're doing, they act oblivious at first and tell you actually borrowed that much, but you didn't borrow but a small fraction compared to the amount due. Then in my case I called back again, after the oblivious ignorant loan officer at first. Then I'm told to basically suck it up and pay it.
Whereas I had only borrowed, $3500, if I paid in installments until the end I would've owed a little over 9k. But they said they would cut me a deal, and I wouldn't even owe the 9k that day. They said I owed $6500, and keep in mind this was only on an actual loan amount initially being $3500. So, now I had to refinance it with a bank institution, and finance an extra $3k, just because of having a pre-computed loan with them for only 6-7 months. With them, you will pay the interest for every month that the loan was written for; not every month you had your account open... no! Interest you will pay is all calculated plus fees, all at the front of the loan. Not to mention, all that ridiculous interest is what you will pay on for the first couple/several months; therefore, making your principal loan amount, to not change much amount all.

I called again and was told my request was rejected because I still had unused checks. No one notified me of this. I told them I did not have any checks. If you have intentions of paying off the loan early, PROCEED WITH CAUTION. I asked many times if there was a penalty if paid early and was told NO. Contract states "borrower will be given a refund of the unearned portion of the Finance Charge, computed by the Rule of 78's." I only learned what the Rule of 78's meant after I had the loan. It is a term used in lending that refers to a method of yearly interest calculation. In other words, in comparison to a simple interest loan, a rule of 78's loan will charge more interest if the loan is paid early. I owed more than I borrowed when I paid the loan off after having it only 5 months. This practice is illegal in many states. Unfortunately, I don't live in one of those states. It cost me over $1,000. I learned after it was too late.

One Main is an extremely professional company. They have exemplary Customer Service Personnel that go the extra mile to take care of a customer. From start to completion, they strive to get your loan approved to your satisfaction. They do not judge or talk down to anyone. The overall process is not complicated. The documents that are required are ones you would typically have in your home files or are readily accessible online. Their scoring system is somewhat unconventional. They use your credit report and FICO score as a means to calculate your internal score. This is what determines the final approval and interest rate.
The only negative is how they wrap a current loan you may have with them with the new loan, and adjust the Interest rate for the new loan to include the old loan. The old / existing loan may have a lower rate, but it becomes the rate for the new loan, which is conceivably a higher rate. For clarity, an example of what I mean is: Old Loan: 30% - New Loan 35%, Combined Loans Become 35%. I would recommend them because of their honesty and professionalism. They are my go to place whenever I need financial assistance.

When I arrived for my early AM appointment to settle, the branch manager abruptly denied my loan. I asked for his reasoning. His reason for denial was "he was not comfortable" to settle. And stated I should leave his office if I was not satisfied with his decision. And- "This was his office". This manager has poor communication skills to work with the public in need of funds and should be reprimanded for his unprofessional behaviors. This business deserves a "minus" rating. Terrible company to conduct business!!!

The loan officer definitely gave me the wrong information which was misleading! Check in my hand for $1000.18 and they paid $499.95 to some insurance I never used and wasn't aware of this $499.95 charge!
Be careful and please don't get the so called insurance! I was ripped off! I spoke to Sara at the corporate office who was very helpful and understanding and told me that this had happened before, and put me on a conference call and helped me cancel the service which will allow me $177 in prorated charge that will be mailed to me within 30 days! Once in the office, it was wonderful to realize that the person I spoke with initially was in fact the person who would see my loan process to fruition. Please do not make the mistake of accepting a loan from this company. They rob you out of your hard earned money with high interest rates and prolonged terms. I got a $2000 loan in Jan with the intention to pay it back within 6 months. The loan officer informed that there was no penalty in paying the loan off early. What she didn't disclose was that the interest of the term was calculated as my balance, which was $4000! After 8 months of having the loan, I had paid about $1200 on the loan. I called to get a payoff amount and was quite shocked when they told me my payoff amount was $2100.
I asked why was none of the money I had been paying monthly been credited toward the balance that I actually borrowed and instead been going straight to interest. They told me that it was precalculated and was nothing they could do. I said "but you are making me pay for interest that I am not using!" They were not interested in a resolution until I reminded them that I am a customer that is simply trying to pay off a debt and they are basically trying to steal money that is not deserved.
I understand this is a business, but at least have some kind of ethics and morality when dealing with people. The only resolution they offered me was to refinance my loan for a shorter term and that would make me have a higher interest rate, when the initial rate was 36%! I cannot express my resentment for even dealing with this company in the first place. Let them be a very last resort, for a desperate need of financial assistance.

Let me be clear, I am not writing a review about OneMain Financial, I am writing a review about Springleaf Financial. I understand Springleaf has recently acquired OneMain, but unfortunately, OneMain's name will be tarnished by Springleaf. We acquired a loan with Spring Leaf in June of 2016. Since I lost my job in October, I immediately called the local branch. I was told to wait until my next payment was due and call them back to check their options, including a minimized payment for the month of November.
I called them, made them aware that I found a job, but would not be able to make a payment until December 15, when I would be getting paid. In a nutshell, I was told they could not work for me because I did not qualify for refinancing. In the process of this phone call, I found out that I was not required to get the extra insurance, but we were told we had to add this when we got the loan. This whole time I have been making payments with the extra insurance included, thinking we had to have it, but we didn't. We had to use our truck as collateral, which we'll be probably lose because we will be 2 months behind (my next payment is December 1, which will not be paid until December 15).
This place takes advantage of individuals who are desperate for a loan, resulting in extremely high monthly payments, misleading information about extra insurance, and an unwillingness to work with those who have fallen on hard times. I have learned my lesson and will probably lose my vehicle in the process. I simply want to warn others to avoid this place like the plague. I wish I would have considered other options before getting a loan with Springleaf. Please, please stay away from this place.

When I contacted the office and gave the person who answered the phone my information to look up my account, I stated to her that it said that I was approved for over $4,000 on the website, but I only need $1.5k-$2k. The lady that answered the phone started talking about me although it said I was approved online that does not mean I can get a loan for that amount unless I have strong collateral anything with a title. So she looked at my credit then asked about my truck which was paid off, then she went on to inquiring about my car that I still have a lien on from my credit union.
She made the suggestion that I let them purchase my auto loan debt from my credit union where I currently pay 13% interest, and owe about $10k. She stated that they can acquire my auto loan debt, and also give me a loan but my interest would be 29% plus. I asked her is there are any other avenues we could explore because I really needed the loan for some health care expenses for my wife. It's a crying shame that companies like this get people hopes all up when they are in the need of financial help thinking this will be the silver lining of a very dark cloud instead they just rain on your parade of expectation. I called Springleaf to renew my loan and they offered me a lot more than what I was originally asking. The loan has decent terms and the people at the Harahan location are very helpful and offer great service. If you're applying for a loan at Springleaf, you most likely do not have an 800 credit score, so don't expect a loan at 4%. What they do offer is a simple loan and a chance to rebuild your credit. I have a title for a car but not enough equity and even though salary was more than enough it requires equity, budget, and salary--1 out of 3 don't match up you're denied. Why risk a hard hit and they say you're approved when there are other requirements that are not specified. This was a waste of time, and the loan specialist determined equity was needed even though income was over 10,000 a month. This is an unfair assessment. Why approve the loan or say the risk is good through Credit Carma? This is totally false. Say you need all 3 upfront before applying. I didn't need the money, just wanted to build credit history now I'm stuck with a hard hit and no loan that stated I was approved for. False advertisement.

I believe around November 2014 I needed some extra money. I had spoken with someone from the Tempe branch. I went into the office to sign the papers. At that point they told me I had to use my car as collateral and explained that I had to borrow enough to pay off all debts. I was on medication and wasn't thinking clearly. Bottom line, I fell behind due to 2 auto accidents caused by others and my disability. I worked out a deal with the branch manager. Borrowed back payments from a friend and dropped it in their night drop. They claim the never received it.
That was on Friday, Monday I learned that that office was no longer Springleaf. I got a call from a different branch manager, told me my car was going to collections. I provided proof of the withdrawal from my bank account. This woman calls after Labor Day, we work out a payment arrangement. About 3 days later someone else from collections calls me and says if I don't come up with $2,000 by September 30th I'm losing my car. I told him about the deal I already worked out and he said it was invalid. Today the lady who called on Sept. 6th said she had to cancel the 2 payments we agreed to and repeated what the guy who called yesterday said. They are liars and thieves and don't care about their customers. I am reporting them to the BBB of AZ and the Attorney general 's office.

I have NEVER applied with these idiots but every 3 months I get a hard inquiry on my credit report. I have excellent credit and don't need their very high interest rate loans. I wrote to their home office and the local office and told them to stop pulling my credit but they refuse. I will now be filing a Federal lawsuit against them for falsely pulling my credit report. Avoid this company at all costs as they seem to be no better than a payday loan company.

Being a customer of Springleaf Financial, in good standing, I assumed that all of the bad reviews were the product of disgruntled consumers who were turned down, for valid reasons. I hereby apologize to most of you. Springfield Financial, does indeed, use fraudulent advertising and loan approval notices. I had several accounts that were opened, and then closed, that were in very good standing. I was never late in a payment, and in fact, used their auto account debit feature. My accounts were closed through business acquisitions and loan transfers to companies that they merged with.
The bad all started with a mailer I received a few weeks ago, from the main office, with a new loan offer. The mailer stated that I was such a great and valued customer, that I was approved for additional funds. As I am remodeling my home, this came as a great opportunity to finish the remodel. So, last Saturday, Sep 3nd, I went online and filled out a new application, for an additional $5,000 and the response that I received online, was that although they could not loan the $5,000, they did approve me for $3,500,and that a local representative would call me in the next 15 min, or on the next business day to finalize the loan. Since it was the weekend and Monday was a holiday, I did not expect a reply until Tuesday Morning.
On Monday, which was the holiday, I received an email from Springfield stating that they needed to speak to me, by phone, before they could approve the loan. What happened to the approval notice I received online? I had an approval, then lost it? So, I waited for their call on Tuesday morning, Sep 6th. Nothing happened. No call, No Email, nothing. So, I called Springfield on Wed morning Sep 7th, at the toll free number that they provided, and spoke to a representative. When I tried to explain to the lady, that I already had an approval, she acted like she couldn't hear a word I was saying. She just kept saying she needed to ask me some questions. I provided all of the answers to her questions, then she informed me that she would forward my application to the underwriters for their approval. She stated that she would give me a call in a couple of hours.
So, the waiting started, all over again. NOTHING, NO CALL, NO EMAIL, NOTHING. So, I called Springfield back on Wed evening, and was told my application was denied. The representative could not give me a reason for the denial, but I should get something in the mail. NICE JOB, SPRINGLEAF. My credit score is a good 660, my payment history is 100% perfect my CC debt is about $4,100, but I have multiple inquiries, due to shopping for a remodel loan. Didn't matter !!! Declined! I will never approach Springfield Financial for another loan, and I urge anyone ready this review, to STAY AWAY from SPRINGFIELD FINANCIAL.
My thoughts now are, that the Texas State Attorney General needs to take a look at Springfield's authority to due business in Texas. If our Congressman and our State Senator aren't too busy, maybe some congressional hearings, are in order. Fraudulent and deceptive advertising has to stop. It's a cheap way to run a company, Springfield.

I'm very Disappointed in this loan company. I called to get a loan on the phone, they approved me and I went to sign the paper work, then funds automatic deposited into my account. So then I payed 9 payments on time. Never late. The manager told me they will help after 6 months on time payments, so then I really need the money so I call to renew my loan 3 different times and was denied all 3 times. She tells me they have changed the rules of borrowing, they gave no notice of the change. I feel at least they give a notice things have changed. Also I referred a person that borrowed over $3000 dollars and they are also making on time payments. I feel they are treating me wrong. Also my credit is better now than when I got the loan. So I'm going to finish paying off the loan, but will never borrow from this place again and no referrals. I'm very unsatisfied.

So I have been trying to rebuild my credit after a divorce from a few years ago. I needed some extra money to pay off some things and for new tires for my vehicle. I got online and applied for the minimum amount of $1500 through Springleaf and receive an Approval notice with no collateral. The email said for me to contact the office to set my appointment, to bring in my ID, Check stubs and proof of residency. That was it. It does not say anywhere on the email that I had to go through further approval. I spoke with the office and she said she just needed to ask me questions about my income so that I could come in this afternoon to sign the paperwork. I gave her all of my information she asked for. I then get a callback a few hours later saying I'm not approved.
I was completely blindsided considering I was led to believe that I had already been approved AND my credit now has a hard inquiry on it for a loan that I'm not getting now - again after being told I was approved. This is absolutely sorry and sooo misleading to people trying to actually make an attempt to rebuild their credit and people who really need the money in tight spots. I will be sending the email and information to my sister who is an attorney when I speak with her on Thursday. I don't see how this can be a legal way of conducting business.

Applied for a personal loan of $7500. Did application online through Lending Tree. Decision from one company that would help which was Springleaf. Waited 3 days, getting emails to follow through with applying which I did by calling Springleaf and giving all my info to the rep. Was told I met the qualifications and was forwarding my call to my local branch. Rep came back and indicated the branch would contact me in an hour. 4 hours later, no call. I called the office and was informed they had been swamped and would submit the application. 1 hour later, got a call that loan had been approved for $3500. Asked me to come in and bring proof of income, voided check and ID. I arrived with the info and was informed that they would have to use $1700 of the amount to pay off a loan that I have in order to qualify.
Well, that loan has less than 6 more payments. Was told my income and debt requires that loan to be paid. Well why didn't they know that before I came in the office? I gave the rep my hourly pay rate that didn't include my overtime or bonuses when I applied. So there was more income year to date than they were given. Plus I didn't plan to pay off a loan that has a lower interest rate and only 6 more payments for a loan at 36 months and higher rate. That's ludicrous. Plus they asked about collateral, like a TV. What? So get a loan, pay off a loan, and walk away with less money than I needed to take care of other things I was trying to do. I HAVE NEVER. RUN FOREST RUN!!!

I am writing in regards to the Lynnhaven Branch in Virginia Beach VA. First off I will say I have had 2 loans with them before and absolutely NO PROBLEMS. Yesterday I submitted an online application and was approved for 2000. Today a rep calls me and to verify items and told me my budget won't allow them to approve the loan. I have no bills at all, my fiance pays everything our household. I receive PT paychecks weekly and my VA Disability. When I asked about their budget system Keshell stated that they had to go by the accounts on my credit report and the minimum payments. Great BUT I don't pay that, my fiance does. So then she convinced me to add him for his income. 2 HARD PULLS later she calls back and says it's still denied...
I asked her to call him and go over his report since he has been a victim of ID theft and 6 accounts are verified as fraudulent and we had letters from the detectives with Economic Crime and the creditors to prove he is not responsible. She refused to call him back and said her computer froze... 45 minutes till they closed. Coincidence? So she put me on the phone with Laura who apparently knows nothing about the company's terms and conditions because there is nothing anywhere stating letters proving id theft couldn't be accepted. She basically continued to tell me her computer was completely frozen as Keshell did and she was the manager. I advised her that under FCRA they cannot make credit decisions based on fraudulent information and she said their hands were tied.
I then asked for corporate's number or a complaint number and she was full of ** and gave me two numbers that are not in service and then hung up on me. When I called back they refused to answer the call. They had caller id as they knew my name from it showing up. I want these inquiries deleted and personally I'm filing a complaint with CFPB because Springleaf is giving false approvals and when you call up there it is a denial every time. I am shocked as I had 2 other larger loans in the past that I was never late on and I get treated this way? If I say my income doesn't include paying bills which it doesn't as my fiance does this then it has to be illegal for Springleaf to assume I do and hold me responsible even if I don't pay. Ever heard of stay at home wives.
My fiance's income pushed us way over the minimum and when I demanded to know how they rated their risk they refused to tell me. He has NO NEGATIVES on his report and makes 4k a month so what risk system are these frauds using? I am very dissatisfied and will never recommend Springleaf when I spoke so highly of them after they funded a 5k and 3k loan for me in the past. So much for respecting loyal customers.

I got no response until a month later they said they still had not received anything and that they were going to charge me their insurance, so I again sent it to the fax number on the letter that they sent me.
2 week later I got a 10-day payoff on my loan and paid it off, during that 2 weeks they charged my account 1300 dollars for their insurance. It has now been another 4 weeks, my insurance company had to talk to them on the phone before they would believe I had insurance. So now they are still saying I owe them money for an auto insurance policy they are charging me on an auto I don't even owe any money to them on. They also told me they would stop my automatic payments until we can get this resolved but that was a lie, they have taken 2 more payments out. She asked me to submit pay stubs which I did the day before online. She comes back to the line to tell me I don't have enough income???
I don't understand that, why wasn't I told that when I did the application online, and I don't think that is true as I do have significant income. It was a waste of my time. How much more income do I need to get a loan through through Springleaf. I have done business with plenty of lenders and find their process to obtain a loan to be below average. Once I submit my pay stubs you only need to call me with the loan amount, term, interest rate, and monthly payment. Before I signed, I asked them if I wanted to pay the loan off early, would I be charged the interest and they told me no.
Now here I am 2 years later wanting to pay my loan off early and am being told that I'm being charged all of the interest of 3 years amount, which is $3000 something, on top of my loan amount. Not only that, this company uses a method called the rule of 78 which means they charge extra interest on top of the interest you already owe if you decide to pay your loan off early. So basically I have to pay more because I want to pay my auto loan off earlier. I am pissed because I was lied to. Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

They were able to take care of most stuff over the phone, informing me about the loan and the office visit itself was able to be completed within 10 minutes. The funds were available right away and they helped get me out of some financial trouble. However - I did ask the representative over the phone if there were any initial startup costs on top of regular interest, which was one of my deciding factors in pursuing the loan. Over the phone I was told that there was not, and that collateral or personal assets wouldn't be needed to secure the loan. But when I arrived in the office, I had to list an appropriate value of assets that "will not be used, and we won't come take your stuff if you don't pay" and I discovered on the terms contract, that there is a 200+ dollar processing fee.
My initial plan was to borrow the money and pay it off early, cutting my interest obligation down a very significant amount. The 200+ dollar processing fee made the idea I had completely unfeasible. I went along with it anyway - since I had already made plans fulfilling the purpose of the loan. I would recommend Springleaf to anybody who is in a financial emergency, but who is normally very financially stable. Otherwise I can see it starting the process of escalating debt, because of the startup costs and high interest rates.

I'm still shopping and reading reviews from customers. I needed a loan but don't know where to apply yet. I never have an experience with Springleaf, but the reviews I read is alarming and I certainly DO NOT want to take a hit on my credit score. My roommate messed up my credit, and I'm just now starting to build it up. As of now, it's 705. I also have a letter from Springleaf saying that I'm prequalified for a secured loan for up to 7,500. Went today on one of those car title loans, cut the crap and straightforward asked her for a quote. The interests is 113%. RIDICULOUS!!! Anyone who knows where to get loans with a reasonable interest, would appreciate it.

I'm having tough times and considered taking out a personal loan. I applied online and called the local branch. I wasn't approved for the amount requested but I was fine with receiving a smaller amount. I went into the office and was told I actually wasn't approved for the loan because I didn't meet the income requirements. The employee I spoke with entered my income information into the system wrong and I received false information. I'm not happy with my first experience with this company and I will not be returning.
