I'm still shopping and reading reviews from customers. I needed a loan but don't know where to apply yet. I never have an experience with Springleaf, but the reviews I read is alarming and I certainly DO NOT want to take a hit on my credit score. My roommate messed up my credit, and I'm just now starting to build it up. As of now, it's 705. I also have a letter from Springleaf saying that I'm prequalified for a secured loan for up to 7,500. Went today on one of those car title loans, cut the crap and straightforward asked her for a quote. The interests is 113%. RIDICULOUS!!! Anyone who knows where to get loans with a reasonable interest, would appreciate it.

I'm having tough times and considered taking out a personal loan. I applied online and called the local branch. I wasn't approved for the amount requested but I was fine with receiving a smaller amount. I went into the office and was told I actually wasn't approved for the loan because I didn't meet the income requirements. The employee I spoke with entered my income information into the system wrong and I received false information. I'm not happy with my first experience with this company and I will not be returning.

Your representatives at the Pascagoula, MS branch went above and beyond to help me acquire my first loan to consolidate my debt and pay off credit altering debts new and old. Simply because of that I would and have recommended this branch/your company.

I had been having a hard time catching up on bills. I'm a single mother and just recently have been going through a hard time with court costs, rent, and bills. I got behind and could not catch up. I received a card from Springleaf in the mail and called about getting a loan. The representatives were very nice and did what they could to get me a loan even though my credit score went down to a 560. I am very pleased with the help I received and recommend them to everyone needing help.

When we called to help Dad get his loan and went in, the people there were very kind, remember it, took the time with us that we needed, and helped him get the loan so that he could get the car he needed.

I had an overall good experience, my income was not quite enough but they allowed my future husband to co-sign. Awesome. There was a temp manager from Albuquerque and he was really sweet. Very professional. The way I look at this agency is fast, friendly and obtainable as opposed to a bank or credit union that requires so much more, I do not qualify. Thanks Springleaf.

Had some things damaged when I moved and they were very friendly and professional at Springleaf about getting a loan to replace them. It was fast and courteous. I've had loans with them before and they were always great. I would recommend them.

I needed a loan to pay off some debts and I applied with OneMain Financial. The application process from the start of the loan to the finish was very easy. The lady I worked with was very friendly and very helpful in getting my loan processed and approved. She helped me from start to finish and made sure that I had the money I needed with payments I could afford. I would definitely recommend OneMain Financial to anyone who is needing a loan for any purpose.

Springleaf is responsible for false advertisement and approvals that are designed to trap you under whatever decision they come up with regardless of credit. I was approved for a loan for $1500 and somehow now I need collateral. I put my wife on the loan that has excellent credit and they gave me the runaround. Made me wait for 24 hours until I finally just called them back for them to tell me that they could not do anything, that I still needed collateral. I am so angry with this company. I feel like they made fools of both of us.

We have been customers since 2012 and all was well until this year. The interest is extremely high, but we were working on repairing our credit and had few options. The people at the local office was nice and helpful. We have kept the account open because it looked good on our credit report. As you know, you need collateral, so we used a car title. This year, we wanted to sell the car, so we contacted Springleaf and was told we could do this. Just sell the vehicle for the value Springleaf had, pay Springleaf the money towards loan, and get title back. Okay great! Well, after almost 2 weeks of phone calls "needing more info and time", we finally get a letter from Springleaf that we were denied. Seriously?

First, we were never told we would have to refinance. Second, we had to tell the man waiting to buy our vehicle that we couldn't get the title AFTER telling him we could. I don't like to do business that way. Third, our credit took a hit for the inquiry that we had no idea about. That's not all! In December, we had a late payment due to sickness and the holidays. It was our first late payment since we became customers in 2012. We sent a letter to the main Springleaf office, asking them to please remove it. We explained our situation and reminded them that we have been loyal customers for more than 4 years. We received a letter back stating they would NOT remove it.

It really upsets me how they treat people since the company has grown. Our hard earned money helped them grow. I haven't done the math, but I know they have made a killing off of us, just in interest alone. Needless to say, we would have used them again until they destroyed our credit, (not once, but twice). Now, our plan is to pay our loan off as quickly as possible and never use or recommend Springleaf to anyone. There are better options.

When I first saw reviews I was skeptical?! I was a bit worried from all these people's supposed bad experiences but decided to try it anyways. I asked for a 7,000 loan but because of my credit history and low credit score they finally got me approved for 6,000. It's a good way to get out of debt fast but make sure if your credit isn't 700 or above that you have some type of collateral. I had to put my vehicle as collateral. After 2 weeks of verifying my income and other info I finally got the loan. It was a long process but am happy with the outcome. The interest rate is a bit high at 29% but I needed this loan bad?! I paid off all my credit card debt and my credit score has since soared by 86 points from a 598 to a 684. Well worth the wait.

I contacted Spring-loaded Financial, O, 'Fallon, IL to consolidate around $24,000 of credit card debt. After providing all information, I was given the option to Pay off a vehicle and two credit cards. I did not ask to pay off a vehicle as we have a good interest rate. It would cost me over $100.00 more a month in debt if I did this and that's obviously not advantageous. I was told they would let the underwriter know and get back to me with other options. They then said they messed up numbers on my debt and it was 85% and now they can't help me at all with anything. Clearly something is not right and the numbers are not calculated accurately, yet there's nothing that can be done. Disappointed to say the least. Will not return or recommend anyone to waste their time. They also wanted a TV as collateral, that is weird!!

Today, July 20, 2016 I decided to "apply" for a $3,000 loan to do some vacationing and pay up some small credit card debt I have, which is less than $1,200. While I was filling out the application online, I noticed I was only asked for my last four of my SSN. I thought to myself, Springleaf does keep their word since there was no mentioned of a hard inquiry on the site. Well, to my surprise, as soon as I hit submit I received an instant notification of a hard inquiry on my reports.

There was no mentioned of a credit pull while I was doing my application, which to my knowledge, you must tell the consumer what is going to happen. There was the fine print which I read and it was about other states and the amount of loans, etc. Thankfully I was approved for $3,000. The screen stated to contact my local office, to bring my ID and pay stubs and no collateral. I received a call at 9am from the local office. A few questions later I was told they couldn't do anything because of collateral. I explained to the representative that my loan was approved without collateral. She stated that the website approval goes to their offices and that's what the approval stated. I explained to her that her approval was not correct, and also about the hard inquiry.

She mentioned that the website says that they will pull a credit report. I explained to her that before I hit submit, I read the misprint and all I read was about amount of loans in other states, nothing about pulling my credit report and doing a hard inquiry which is against the law. So, now I am stuck with no loan because of collateral, yet the website approval told me I didn't need one, and also with an illegal hard inquiry. I will get an attorney because what they are doing is scamming people, pulling their credit reports without their consents or disclosure prior to hitting submit. It is OK if they can't give me the loan, but take the hard inquiry away since I didn't consent to it.

I was referred to Springleaf by a friend in the hopes of acquiring financing to purchase a small camper for my family. I completed the online application, a frankly didn't hold out much hope, but to my surprise the screen displayed "Approved" for $6000 with no collateral. I then received an email advising that I would need check stubs, ID, and a phone number to arrange the appointment. The email even advised that I should bring my banking information to set up the direct deposit.

I then called the number only to have it ring on and on without answer. I then receive a phone call from the office 5 minutes later, asking what I intended to use as collateral? When I informed the lady that my approval was without collateral, she then said, "Huh, the approval I have states that you need hard collateral"! No offer to investigate, no number to call, which leads me to the conclusion that she knew exactly what the web page stated because they use this tactic to get you in the door. She then asked about my vehicle and who it was financed through then advised me to call back when I have the VIN number to see if I have any equity in the vehicle. I wrote the experience off at first but after talking to a friend of mine who is also a civil attorney I decided to follow up with the Commonwealth as it appears that this tactic is illegal.

It is hard enough struggling with rebuilding credit, we do not need predators lurking in the system. I was glad that I took a screen shot of the tablet and recorded the IP, otherwise I would just be another sucker in the system. My friend did say that I could reach out to the company to give them a chance to make it right but after speaking to the local office, well I don't really see a point. Please make sure you screen shot any messages you receive when applying and if they do not keep their word, contact your state Consumer Affairs department and the Dept of Commerce as they are operating across state lines thereby making it a matter of interstate commerce.

My wife and I have two different loans with Springleaf and we are exceptionally happy with the service and personal attention we have received from the staff. Our loans were easy to acquire and we were worked with to make sure that the payments on our loans fit into our budget. We wouldn't use any other company but Springleaf for our loan needs.

I applied for a loan in June thru Credit Karma. I was pre-approved for $1500. I called to give some additional info. They then turned me down. July 17, 2016 I got an offer thru Credit Karma again for Springleaf. I tried again. I was APPROVED for $2000. All I had to do was bring in proof of income, ID, and title for collateral. Well 7/18 about 10:30 am they call me and tell me "There's nothing we can do for you". I told her I was already approved, and she said the "pre-approval/apply" website isn't always accurate. SO WHY IN THE HELL DO THEY EVEN OFFER THE WEBSITE??? So now I have another hard inquiry on my credit from them and for nothing! False advertisement is ILLEGAL!

The house we had been renting for 20 years was being sold so we had to find another place to live. The fact that we are elderly and have been careful to only buy what we can pay for resulted in our not having any credit rating. We had 45 days to raise enough money to relocate and did not have enough in savings to cover the costs. OneMain Financial loaned us enough money to handle the costs. It was a painless experience which was handled with kindness and a gentle hand. Borrowing money is a scary process for us, so we very much appreciated the way our problem was handled.

Back 9 months ago Credit Karma directed me to Springleaf in order to help build my credit. I applied at that time and was turned down. I was told that I needed two more creditors added to my file with current payment history and I should reapply. I am not applying because I needed the money, only to build my credit to buy a home by 2017. So this week I went back on Credit Karma. Again they are saying my chances for success with Springleaf were EXCELLENT as to the increase in my credit score and the few items that were dropped from my prior score.

I applied for a $1,500 loan, making $60K a year, 3+ years at my residence, always on time, 3 new credit lines, 2 paid off early, and so on. So I get my callback today from Amber who says now I have too many new credit lines on my account and I need to check back in 11 months or so!!! Not only will I never return to do any business with Springleaf but I am going to do my best to get this last hard inquiry off my credit and I will be contacting Credit Karma to see what I can do to get them off their preferred vendor listing.

Updated 8/8/2016 - Springleaf did contact me immediately after I posted my complaint. Two weeks later I received a new denial letter, this time saying "Insufficient number of credit references provided".. Come on Springleaf, make up your mind, either I have too many new credit lines as you asked me to get or I still don't have enough. This company is a joke. Do not apply to them. I went to Mariner Finance and if you have an office near you, go to them. I am now on my third loan to help build my credit file with two loans now paid off and a new third one raising my credit limit to $1500 which I will once again pay off early. Mariner's gain in a great client is Springleaf's loss! Visit www.marinerfinance.com if you want to work with a reputable company you can trust. This is the response I will be posting everywhere!

I spoke with Sara from the corporate office on 07.20.16. She was extremely helpful and listened to me complain, she said she would look over everything and have someone get back with me . On 07.21.16 I received a phone call from Kaylan (the office manager) at the location that I had applied at. I sent her the documentation she needed (because of the issues prior I said I didn't want the loan and they are required to destroy the paperwork that was submitted) and she called me back on 07.22.16 to let me know the loan was approved. I was out of town at the time so I didn't make it into the office until 07.28.16 to sign the paperwork. She apologized for the issues and went over all the paperwork with me, I was in and out in about 30 min and my money was in my account the next day. I will keep this updated in case I run into any other issues along the way.

Original review: July 14, 2016

Applied for loan Thursday 07.07.16 and was pre-approved for $3,000. I received a call and submitted my last two paycheck stubs and gave info for employment verification. A lady in the office contacted me on Monday 07.11.16 and said something about she couldn't read my stubs. Sent the same ones again. Received a call that they would review and get back to me. Tuesday 07.12.16 I received a call and was asked if I had just started working at the company. I had already given them my date of hire on the form and they got it when they did my verification. Later I called back to get the status and the lady said something about numbers not adding up and said the would call me tomorrow.

I received a call Wednesday 07.13.16 and was told they couldn't see the OT and were having trouble breaking it down. I then sent paystubs for the whole year so they could see the OT and get the YTD total (on our check stubs YTD OT is not separate). I never heard from anyone so I called them back the same day and the lady on the phone told me to hold because she needed to talk to her manager, then gets on the phone and says, "We can't put your info in our system. It's not calculating right." I don't even know what that means and at this point am frustrated.

She then says we can't calculate OT. I told her I sent every paystub and she responds that it's too much for her to go through each paystub. I advised that I broke it down for her in the email. I ask, "So what is the real problem?" Then she says something about entering info in her system. So basically my loan has not been approved or denied because someone doesn't know how to do their job or find someone to help them or even explain to me what she needs. There were 3 different excuses and I don't understand what the issue is because the person I spoke to can't even figure it out.

I had a mortgage with American General until they transferred my account to Springleaf. I would send AG 6 post dated checks and that worked out fine until I did the same with Springleaf and they deposited all six checks at once which had my account overdrawn $3000+. So I had no other choice but to stop payment on 5 of those checks and started sending my payments monthly. I called the office to explain what happened and was told there was nothing they could do (which I didn't believe).

At this point I was so upset because I would always have a negative balance in my checking account and how was I to pay my other bills. That is why I called my bank to stop payment. The next thing I know they transferred my account to Select Portfolio Servicing who I make my monthly scheduled payment to. They are saying that I am $3000+ behind in my payments because of what was told to them by Springleaf. I have explained what happened and it seems all they want to do is give me a loan modification so I can keep my house. I don't need a loan because I can afford my monthly mortgage. I receive mail from SPS at least 3 times a week which is so frustrating. I only ask them to tell me the months that I skipped my payments. Account # is for SPS.

I applied for a personal loan and got approved for $7500. I contacted local branch and provided proof of income. Everything was good, I got a hard credit hit on my inquiries. I call back and they denied me and said they can't help because income don't match. I asked them what they can approve me for and they said none. Worst experience ever and lead me on to believing I would get cash I need. They send me letters every month to saying I'm pre approved, apply and get a approval, then get denied last minute. I will never recommend this company to anyone. Stay away from them everyone!

Credit Karma recommended Springleaf Financial. I was looking to do a bill consolidation loan for $5000. I automatically got approved and they sent me an email. I called to schedule my appointment and the customer service representative ask me if I have a free and clear title of an automobile that I may use as collateral. I said "I have a vehicle that I make monthly payments." He said,"I am sorry we cannot approve you without collateral." WHAT A JOKE!!! Be careful because they do a hard inquiry and what they say may not be the case. I DO NOT AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!

I will also say all the Bad Reviews are correct. I took this loan to pay off Wells Fargo Loan that I thought was high interest. The Loan Officer I worked with in Texas, I asked her before taking the loan on the interest rate. She gave me some low interest rate. I realized all information she gave me were full of lies. She also wanted me to use my car for Collateral, it would have been the worst decision that I have made. I called several times to ask for the Payoff amount, that is how I was able to figure out the amount they are charging on the loan. They are charging me $3.59, at the moment I have calculated the amount they have charged me and they have charged me approximately 1700 for 11 months on a loan of $5000.

Please avoid this Springleaf. Initially I was their good customer telling other people about Springleaf, but now that I realized they are RipOff, they are shady and dishonest, I am so disappointed. I was also calculating the amount paid, and few dollars are missing. I have lost more money with this loan than I thought of. Go with Lending Club or Avant may even be good, though Lending Club gives the best interest rate and they are very transparent.

I purchased a vehicle with the help of Springleaf in April of 2014. I was on time with my payments until November 2015. This is when I discovered that $2500 had been added to my balance. It went unnoticed that long because I trusted them. I went to trade on the vehicle I purchased and was asked what the payoff was. I borrowed $7000 and put $1500 down, the truck was $8500. When I called to find out what the payoff was, I was told $10,000+. I started to look at my receipts and noticed that in June of 2014, right after I signed for the loan, nearly $2000 had been added and for what I have no idea.

I kept searching and found that in Oct. 2014 another $500+ had been added. I called to find out why and never got a straight answer. I called about every week, then every month up until May of 2016 and finally gave up. I never found out why my balance went up. They repossessed the vehicle on my birthday. I've contacted an attorney and will be filing a formal complaint. Also, a lawsuit will be filed against Springleaf. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. IT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!!

I have been a Springleaf client for awhile. I pay my bill each month on time. I get calls monthly from the local branch thanking me for my on time payments and asking if they can help me get some extra cash. I've always declined their offer until today when I need a little extra to cover wedding costs. The amount I asked for is lower than my first loan with them and I was making less at the time of the first loan. I was denied quickly. They call me once a month asking to help and thanking me for my payments being in time. I finally try to get a little extra from them and they turn their backs. It's a complete joke. I will get my current loan paid off and never use their services again. I will not recommend them to anyone. I don't like getting these phone calls monthly saying I'm a good customer and they want to help only to be denied.

I apply for to Springleaf Financial to Credit Karma. I got an email saying I was approved for a personal loan but when I called the lady told me that I had to have a car title to get a personal loan. The lady told me that they do not do any loans out some kind of a car title. Then told me that I have no chance in hell getting a loan for anyone else but them and that I need to give up my title to get a loan. I don't even own the title to my car - I pay payments so how am I supposed to come up with the title to get a loan. Why check my credit and then lied to me and say that you can help me out? If they really can't help people that don't have great credit, they really should never offer to help people with bad credit. Not everybody has a car title just to give away. I was so relieved knowing that I can get a personal loan to help me during a moment of stress. Just to find out that I am still in the same position due to Springleaf Financial lying to me.

I wasted my time thinking this company can help me. I work full time and I pay my bills. I just had an expense come out that I could not cover. I wish I understood why she did not offer me some other avenues to try to get a personal loan. It's good to know that the reputation of his company I being rude, unhelpful, lying, and wanted a car title is completely true. It really shows that some companies do not care about actually trying to help people. I am greatly disappointed in this company for the first time of using them and just so it turned out that they are no more help than anyone else. If you don't have a 800 credit score, don't even think about coming to them. They just put a hard inquiry on your credit score. I am so disappointed now I have to find somewhere else. Thanks a lot Springleaf Financial...

Well I had a recommendation from Credit Karma that if I would apply for 5,000 that my chances of being approved was fair but I only applied for 2,000-2,500. And just a few minutes I was denied and then they said they would send me a email telling me why I was denied and when they did it had no specific reason. It was like they gave me no chance at all in any way. I've been paying on a truck that was at 20,000 and I've been on time with my payments and I'm just about half way done or more actually and yet it seems like my credit ain't good enough to get a lousy 2,000 dollar loan. Never again will I try to apply to this company or any that Credit Karma recommends.

I receive Springleaf pre-approvals in my mail continually. I was shy vacation money. I complete their online app. I'm approved in big bold letters. I receive a call from the local office who tell me, "Not So Fast. You need to Refinance your Car with us at a Higher Interest Rate!!" The Rep asks me, "You didn't see the fine print?" Sorry it was drowned out by the big bold print of I'm approved. So I take a solid hit on my credit score for Nothing! Total Scam!

I went to Springleaf due to a recommendation from Credit Karma. Never again. It said I had a Good chance to receive the loan. Credit score 672. I applied for 3500.00 and after applying online, I was told to call to finish. At first, everyone was nice but then I got some irregular activity. They said they didn't see my application one time. The other lady said I wasn't her client and they will assign one to me. However I called back a couple hours later, and I was her client. She huffed at that. Completely unprofessional. After I submitted my documents as requested the same day, I didn't hear back from them until 3 days later and I had to call them. She told me everything was complete and she was sending it up for review and that she would have the answer after lunch. I did not receive a callback period.

I called back the following morning (TODAY) and she told me the same thing, i.e., sending it up and call me back after lunch. By this time, I felt like I was getting the runaround so I sent her an email explaining that I would need an answer by COB and that I had a deadline. I left my office for a few minutes and came back to a missed call. She left a message for me to call back. I called and got someone else and they tell me that my loan was not approved and that a letter explaining why will be mailed. I laughed. I said "Thank you for your assistance" and hung up. For the payment amount that was quoted to me, one of my small checks would have covered that and more, not including my main checks. So I wonder why it was not approved. I should have read more reviews before I applied. After reading the same situation happened to others and more crazy stuff, I'm entirely too glad I did not get the loan now.

I requested a loan and the rates are at a 28%! I was told I needed to get the insurance (I didn't want to get it, then a lady walked in the room and asked me several times, which it seemed that I didn't have a choice but to get it). This raised my loan 1,000 above the amount requested. Out of $212 I pay a month, $86 go to the balance and the remaining are INTEREST. This is a ripoff. I am trying to save on a separate account so I can end business with this company.

Experience with Springleaf was very good. They were very helpful, super nice. Returned all of my calls and answered all of my questions. They told me what the payment would be with disability ins and without and that I could pay more each month if I wanted to. And that I could have the payment taken out every 2 weeks or once a month.

My GF and I tried to use Springleaf - only be re-directed to AmOne. We were both denied from Springleaf; I was "advised" to use CreditCard.com - Why the ** would I need to get ANOTHER credit card, if I wanted a loan to pay off the ones I ALREADY HAVE? When my GF tried, she was also re-directed to AmOne, only to be told to try "AutoPawn"??? We were never asked if we owned a "vehicle free and clear" anywhere on the applications. WHAT UTTER **.

Now we're going to have to scan our emails to make sure after Springleaf sells our email addresses to god-knows-who for a profit, we get yanked around like I have my ** caught in a zipper. WHAT A SCAM JOB. Go figure. If it looks too good to be true - it must certainly have some kind of digital herpes. STAY AWAY!!! You might get the clap!

Wow this is such a ripoff. Stay away unless you are really hard up. I applied for the loan with a credit score of 585. Was approved but the terms and conditions and interest was crazyyy. I applied for 1000 - lower amounts was 1,500 so ok cool I will take it. Their catch to this mess was they wanted to pay off my car loan that I had which was 1,200 and a couple small personal loans that I had open then include the 1,500 for the total loan equally 2,900. Get this with all the interest and other fees they tag on payback would be 36 months totally 4,653. Are you freaking serious? That is 1,953 dollars in interest plus what I would have to pay back. I will pass. That is getting myself in more debt longer.

This is basically the same complaint I have!! So misleading! So I was looking at my credit score on Credit Karma and I had a recommendation from them that I have a very good chance of getting a loan with Springleaf. I filled out the form online and they called me. Not only did I get the 3rd degree basically my entire life story. Then they asked me to go out and get all the VIN numbers off my car, all the registration information, everything. I told them that I wasn't going to put my car up as collateral and then they said they needed the information. Anyways well I didn't call them back with the information that night and they called me back the next day and told me they couldn't help me.

Rudely I asked them to explain why considering that they advertise that they help people with not-so-hot credit and they gave me some lame excuse even though I have some other credit cards out and my credit shows through the last years that I've been making all my payments on time and that my credit score has been improving over the last years. Then I said, "Fine whatever but I don't appreciate being misled because now there is a hard inquiry on my credit score that has brought my credit down overnight" and they said, "Well too bad, you can take that up with Credit Karma." I advise not to deal with these people. I've taken out other small loans and credit cards with not nearly as much heartache. I'm going to file a complaint with the credit bureau to get this hard inquiry removed off of my credit report.

After being a good customer from American Finance which is now Springleaf Financial Services I decided to borrow some money for some personal needs. I gave them my info and offered up title on my car and they said they'd give me 6500. I told them I was looking to borrow 8500. The agent went to store manager and said I was approved. Unfortunately I had to get pay stubs and register and insure car since it's a collectors car I store in a warehouse that's alarmed and sprinklered. So I told agent that I'd be back because interest rate and monthly payments were reasonable...

So after being approved for 8500 which the agent told me, I registered car at a cost of 1200 dollars. Bought insurance for 560 for 6 months. Rented a truck and trailer for 150 dollars to take car down to smog shop and show loan agent. Spending 3 hours at dmv getting all the paperwork Springleaf Financial Services required. So after spending most of the day and close to 2000 dollars Springeaf Financial Services in Fairfield calif had offered me a low ball loan of 5000 saying the car was too old when they had all this information up front when they approved me...

The kicker of the story is I just had car appraised last month at a value of 32,000 dollars and there's one for sale at 48,000. The car is one of only 150 made. So this car is not a Ford focus... Needless to say either the loan agent is a liar or the manager of the office is a liar. Either way their practices are deceptive along with having you jump thru hopes because they figured I'd agree to borrowing the measly 5000 dollars.

I didn't really need the money I was borrowing, just wanted more credit... So not only did I decline their ridiculous offer, I informed them that they just lost a good customer that has never missed a payment... So if you chose Springleaf Financial Services in Fairfield be prepared to have someone preapprove you to maybe you'll get far less money than you're asking for or deal with lies and deception... Get a loan at a bank where they'll do what they say! I rate Springleaf Financial Services in Fairfield calif a negative -10 for dishonesty and poor business practices.

So I applied online for a personal loan, was approved online for the loan. When I called to schedule my appointment and find out what I needed to bring, no appt just "I can go over loan with you on phone." Ok. I emailed him my pay stub which he then proceeded to tell me I lied about my income. Umm no I put exactly the amount I make per month on there. I asked how he calculated it. He said "well we enter into the system and it calculates it." "So in other words you don't know?" Then he started asking me about stuff that was on my credit report from 9+ years ago. Why does this matter?

I could see last 2 or hell even last 5 but from 2003 and 2007, and when I told him I really can't remember why I missed a specific payment he said "well I will say you just don't want to answer." After all this he said "well we can't get you approved for what you applied for but I can get you approved for 500.00 less", ok great. Once our UW is done reviewing he will call me back. He called me this am to tell me "I am sorry we can't do the loan for you". "But wait what??? I was already approved online." "Well we will approve you if you provide us the title to your vehicle." Umm no. These people are not what they seem. Not helpful and very misleading.

I posted a review regarding Springleaf Financial awards. True to their word, they did, in fact, contact me. After many convoluted and confusing explanations, the problem has been resolved. I will suggest to others, that with a corporation this large, to keep records, respond to inquiries and be a stalwart consumer. You will get results. I'm satisfied. I do believe they act, or rather react to the squeaky wheel gets the grease approach. There are some very nice problem solvers there to do damage control, I worked with them and found relief to my initial compelling problem. Best of luck to others in the same situation. NOTE: rewards are sent via email, not USPS. Be sure your spam folder is aware.

Springleaf Financial awards redemption - I am a current customer. On April 24, I redeemed 3000 credits for gift cards. I did not receive them. In the site, I can see they were subtracted from my balance. Three months has gone by, actually 10 weeks. I wrote to corporate, and they never responded. I called the local office who also never responded. I am considering a class action suit for them defrauding me, and have placed a retainer for a lawyer. He believes, if many are being ignored and not receiving their bonus points, that a class action suit is the way to go, and we are beginning to move forward. Anyone else who has experience the relinquishment of accumulated points, but has not receive what they ordered contact a lawyer, the Better Business Bureau, and attorney general of your state.

I never make late payments on my account ever! I recently used the app (as I always have) and it gave me the option to pay using my debit card. I was so excited that I could use my debit since they don't allow me to use a card at the location. This was my first time paying with my debit card. I used the app multiple times to pay with my checking account. I got a confirmation that the payment went through but it didn't post on my account but it did post, twice, the $2.95 transaction fee. I called and spoke to an agent at the local office. She then proceeded to tell me what I already knew and told her I do have a charge on my account. She then put me on hold for like 2-3 mins. After she did what she could I ended the call. (The agent was very nice and patient with my ranting. No complaints there.)

I went to my account to check and for some reason I could not log on. I had the correct password and everything but nothing. I then went on my bank account (which I had checked just this morning and wrote down the amount of the transaction fee and the processing number so I could show someone in Springleaf) but to my surprise, the $2.95 charges were no longer there! How does that happen? I don't understand that right after my phone call those charges were wiped off without my knowledge of how it happened. So now I will get charged a late fee for my not late payment. Please take off the debit card option off the app if it's not going to work. I've never made a late payment and now I'm screwed. FYI I did make my payment. Thanks Springleaf!

Applied for a loan online over the weekend for $5000, approved with my car as collateral. The local office called me on Monday and asked some questions. Tammy told me she would send the info up for review and get back to me. What is to be reviewed if I am already approved for the amount I requested??? Contacted me this morning asking for me send her my pay stubs which I did. Called back later this afternoon and said she did everything she could but they could not approve me. When I applied, I did not do a pre-qualification app, I filled out the complete app and it said "congratulations you have been approved for the $5000 you requested". In turn, was really a lie. They pulled a hard pull on my credit report, only to tell me I was not approved.

Every last bad review was correct. They are shady and dishonest and should be shut the hell down... unreal!!! And then had the nerve to tell me she was sorry and have a good afternoon. How about you go kick rocks on your way to hell!!! So now I'm sure my score has dropped from fooling with these deceitful people... All I can say to anyone else looking to apply to them for a loan... please take heed to all the reviews that have been written. Beware???

I have a loan out with this company so they say after 6 months you can apply to take more money out if needed. So it's been 6 months and they acct called me so I figured I had great chance. I spent last 6 months repairing my credit thru a credit repair company so I applied to be told no! Very frustrating. So they tell me "well try with a co app. You can better your chance of getting approved." So I did. And what do you know, I don't get it. So not only did I not get help, they ran my credit two more times and my co apps. So I recommend getting a payday loan because that seems to be more of a for sure loan even though interest rate is thru the roof.

I have made a few mistake in the past. When I got credit did not pay when it was time so my score went down badly. A couple of year ago I needed some credit so I went in to a Springleaf office, sat down and talk with one of their people and they told me that they would do everything that they could to help me. I went home and when I got there I was told that they had called and wanted me to call them so I did. They told me that I would need a co signer because of my past history. I told them I had one so they set up a time for the two of us to come in and with a couple of hour I had the money that I needed so badly and I was able to do what I needed to do.

Paid that loan off and have been able to get a couple more loans from them. They have earned my business. When there was something not right I got in touch with their head office and as soon as it was in check in to they got back with and it was fix. Have been there for three years and like I said I look forwarded to doing business with them for years to come.

I previously had a loan with Springleaf that I paid on time and even paid off the loan considerably early. When I went back to them for an urgent need, I was unable to get the loan amount I needed. Not even 20% of it. I went to another company (AVANT) and got the remainder of what I needed AS A FIRST-TIME customer! Not only that, but got a LOWER RATE than with Springleaf! Not a great way to treat your customer base. I will pay off the loan with them as soon as possible and likely not use their services again.

My father, now deceased, co signed for a loan for my nephew. He didn't pay for the 4 wheeler in question. It was repossessed per credit report and a judgment against the home. When it came time to sell the home we had to pay off the judgement in order to sell the home. That makes no sense. The 4 wheeler was a repo/it was a charge off, so if I paid for it I need a four wheeler or my money back. I believe I been done wrong and need to know how they are able to do this to me.

I applied and received a loan in March I believe. I paid the loan off in full in May and attempted to re-apply for $3000 and they wanted collateral. I didn't need one before and shouldn't at the time. So much for appreciating your customers. I will not recommend or do business with them again.

Huge warning to anyone looking to obtain a loan of any kind from Springleaf Financial. We have been trying to pay off our loan of $9,000 with them for several years. The interest is $6 per day. We were late on our March payment which was made on April 2nd so they took our entire payment of $345 and applied it to interest and told us we still needed to make our payment. These people are crooks. I just looked at my statement today after payment $129 towards the principal, $215 interest. They will smile and act like they want to help you while stabbing you in the back!

I would be embarrassed to even offer someone a rate like this. I know my credit rating isn't perfect but 693 isn't that bad either. Considering that the only reason it's that low is due to my credit debt, mostly Hospital debt due to a terminally ill wife. I'm making my payments on time, I have no debt in collection. Simply wanted to consolidate some debt so we can eat something other than beans and rice. This guy calls me back and says, "Yay, you've been approved, for your loan at 30%." I hung up.

I have had only one account with Springleaf lending and I had lost my job and it was sometime before I got another job. Yes I agree that I signed for the loan and that I had to pay the loan back. My concern is that I only had one account with Springleaf lending and after my paycheck had been garnished to pay this in full another account with Springleaf lending appeared on my credit report with a different account number than on my original loan agreement. My original number was ** and after it was paid through the Los Angeles sheriffs court system in the total amount of $4701.00 Case number ** and when you look up my case from the court system for the only account I had with Springleaf lending it was paid in full and then after it was paid in full Springleaf Lending somehow made up another account number of ** and it states that I now owe on this account $702.00. I never had a second account with Springleaf Lending.

Now I have this new account on my credit report that shouldn't be there because I never borrowed $702.00 dollars. When looking at the website for Springleaf Lending the smallest you can borrow is $1500.00. Also on my credit report is stating that my monthly payments would be $179.00 for a term of 37 months for borrowing $702.00. Somehow Springleaf Lending has added an extra account to my credit report which is not true. For everyone else out there beware of the illegal practices of this company. My question to Springleaf Lending is this where did the second account come from, and when I have spoken to people at the company in Evansville, IN no one could or have sent me any paperwork with my name on an agreement for borrowing $702.00? Does anyone have any help or has this happened to anyone else?

I applied for a loan online and was approved for $2,000. I have retirement income and a new part time job. When I called the local Springleaf office they told me my retirement wasn't enough they needed a phone number for the new job. Got that, then was told they needed it in writing from HR. Got that. They told me the loan expired even though every other time I called it asked about this and was told it would not expire. Today I was told that since my net is $100 a month less than what I put online I probably couldn't get a loan!!! What??!! I'm so frustrated and disappointed.

I applied for a loan with Springleaf Financial after getting a recommendation from CreditKarma.com. After being told by Credit Karma that my odds were "fair" of being approved, I applied. Needless to say, I was rejected. After receiving a call from a loan officer named Teresa where I was told if I applied with a co-signer my odds of getting approved would greatly increased, I did just that. I got my mother to agree to be my co-applicant. However, even with my mother as a co-signer, Teresa told me they (Springleaf) still would not approve me for a debt consolidation loan. Teresa then said they wanted to speak with my mother about her getting a loan instead. Teresa suggested I could just make the payments. At first I refused, but Teresa was persistent. She said the money could go to me and I could still use it to pay off my debts. So long as I made the payments everything would work out.

At first I refused, but Teresa would not give up so easily. She convinced me to let my mother apply and whalah - a loan in the amount of $5,000 was approved. I refused at first seeing as this loan would not have me on it and thus would not reflect on my personal credit score, which was part of my desire in getting a loan with Springleaf in the first place. In the long run I decided to go ahead and do it. The interest rate for the loan is 24.50%. That comes to just over $6,000 once you calculate it. BUT - if you figure the terms spread out over 4yrs then total repayment for a $5k loan with Springleaf comes out to $11,246.19!!! That is a far cry from a 24.50% interest rate (if I were to carry the loan to term ofc). In actuality that is an interest rate of 125% = ($5,000 x 2 + 1,246.19). In other words, I will pay TWICE WHAT I BORROWED PLUS AN ADDITIONAL $1,246.19 if I carry the loan to the 4 yr term.

Teresa DID NOT explain this in the meeting with my mother when the papers were signed. In fact this little tidbit of information was (imo) intentionally avoided in the discussion during the course of the meeting when the loan papers were being signed. My point? DO NOT - under any circumstances (unless you like being **) - I repeat - Do not borrow money from these ** loan sharks! THEY ARE PREDATORS. They take advantage of hardworking people who are trying to simply get a helping hand in rebuilding credit and paying off debts! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SPRINGLEAF FINANCIAL EVEN IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! If you do - Be sure you are aware of just how bad you are getting screwed and most of all ask them for a kiss. Everyone should at least get a kiss when they are getting **.

I was recently sent a letter offering me a loan renewal. With a surgery on the horizon, I didn't think it to be a bad idea to have some extra money. I've paid on my loan for a year and half, no missed or late payments. I called Monday morning and the woman I spoke to took down some quick information and said she'd call me back shortly. I had to call them this morning (2 days later) since I hadn't heard from them and was told I was denied the loan. Truthfully, I don't care about that, it's the lack of customer service that was shown. I have a loan already, I am a customer. I expect to be treated much better when I inquire into doing more business with a company. Springleaf is just like a car dealer. Once the car is sold, they could care less how you're treated after.

Upon completion of website application, an approved status was returned. When we called to set an appointment they advised us we had to prove our income. I stated this was fine and asked if bank statements and pay stubs be sufficient. Then manager, Mike, stated yes, then no (?), they'd also need collateral and would only provide a loan amount equal to the value of our collateral. This is not stated on the website, nor in the approval statement. Although our provable income (5000+/mo) and our bank balance (5000+) is over half of the loan amount, we were denied in direct contradiction to the approval notice. I would avoid this company, in Scranton PA, as their business practices are questionable and their website information is fraudulent. Additionally, they lowered our credit score by checking our credit, without notice of needed collateral. Fraud alert!

My father passed away in an accident. A few days later while our family was still grieving, a representative from Springleaf called harassing my mother who was ill from her cancer treatments, asking her to take out a loan for my father's funeral expenses. This is an unforgivable act in my eyes. Do not do business with these horrible excuses for human beings.

Last summer I took a $2,000 loan out with Springleaf to fix my truck. After paying faithfully my truck was having issues again so I thought I could get a $1,500 loan to fix the truck. But a representative called me and told me very rudely that my credit sucked and I wasn't getting any more money from them. I said my credit was the same as it was last year. She said, "Yeah I don't know how you got the first loan." I was so humiliated and embarrassed by this rude ignorant person. I am going to pay this loan off and make sure I tell all my family and friends what ignorant people you are.

I was in a huge financial bind. Just at the time I didn't know which way to turn, I received a promotional loan ad in the mail. I responded and was pleasantly greeted by Stephen initially. He informed me of all aspects of the loan from rates of interest to additional options and to the length of the loan and payments. He was able to arrange a loan for more than I expected. I was so pleased and greatly relieved of that financial bind and would highly recommend OneMain Financial to a friend.

I receive this offer in the mail, with an insane credit (around 26%). Then, I apply for the loan and I'm declined. What more was necessary? With that amount of interest, it should not have mattered what I had on my report. But now!! My report gets worst, thanks to their worthless offer. I can get approved for a new car, but I can't get a $1,500 loan with insane interest? Get out of here! Stay away. Please.

I was told I was approved yesterday after I sent in my pay stubs. I had an appointment for 4:30PM CST today to sign paperwork and the office called me an hour before and asked for additional information that could not be viewed from the pay stub I emailed. I sent it right away and then they called back lowering my approved loan amount. When I asked for an explanation I realized they calculated my net income incorrectly. There was no reasoning with the branch manager and I was told, "You can take it or leave it." I called customer service to resolve the issue and was told it was the branch's decision. Customer service couldn't even provide me with the name of the district manager. Very upset.

Applied for a personal loan and was approved online for almost twice the amount I needed as well as being showed what my required verifiable needed to meet. The whole reason I was looking for the loan was because I had a whole month out of work from being sick and when I show up I tell them I don't need that high of a loan and when reviewing my income I explained I had been out of work for a month and my income was still enough for the loan I required but they held me to the loan requirement that was over my head... this company is a waste of time. They want you to have the loan they want to give you and not the lower one that you are in need of. Avoid them if you can.

I took a loan out for $3,200 in December with a fixed interest rate. I didn't accept any up-sale just the loan. I look at my credit report on January it says I owe Springleaf $4,500. I call them, email them obviously surprised, pissed all the above. Basically I feel manipulated and lied to. I speak to the rep. He says "we report the full amount you will pay in 3 yrs to the credit bureau as you pay off it will correct itself." Again in good faith I'm like "okay new process maybe new calculation they want to use. I'll pay this off ASAP because something feels fishy." Now late April 2016 I ask why my payment history isn't reported on the online website, you know you sign in it's supposed to tell you what portion of your payments went to principal and portion to interest, it's not reported. I ask for a payoff I'm at $3,400!! I'm like WTF I've been paying since January going on 5 months. The rep says out of my $150 payment 50 goes towards interest.

Tell me there isn't anything fishy about this company. I am looking to filing a suit against their lending practice as both manipulative and misleading if I don't get this loan fixed. Very bad experience. If you can go without a loan or with a traditional bank with great lending practices I'd opt for those options. Looking at my loan balance according to them it's $4644.48 and there is a disclaimer saying: "This is a pre-computed loan. The Balance shown represents the sum of all monthly installments you are scheduled to pay from the Statement Date through the loan maturity date. The Balance does not include the loans cumulative past due charges, such as late charges, because the scheduled monthly installments do not include those charges. Any payoff occurring before the loan maturity date will prevent some of the scheduled finance charges from being earned, so the payoff amount will almost always be less than the Balance."

I went online and completed an application and was supposedly approved for a consolidation loan. They called and emailed several times within a day but when I finally reached someone, they said that I needed a hard collateral car exchange for the loan to be processed. Nothing was mentioned in the application process or any of the calls or emails. Now an inquiry on my credit and very rude customer service representatives! I would never recommend this company to anyone! Very misleading and false advertising!

I paid my loan off with Springleaf back in Jan 2016. They made an error on their end which caused them to continue reporting a false balance of 1700$ on my credit. When I called to get this resolved back April, they told me that a letter of satisfaction will be mailed out within 10 days and that my account will show a 0 balance and will be corrected in the credit reports.

I have called back many times since the 10 days have passed that I was to receive my letter. (It never came.) And have received nothing but excuses as to why it wasn't completed yet. I am in the process of buying a home and I need a letter of satisfaction from Springleaf stating my account is satisfied and paid and that I have a 0 balance. I have requested a letter, as well as a fax stating that my issue has been resolved and they have not been able to accomplish that. When I ask why it isn't resolved or if they could just expedite a fax stating I am closed, the answer I receive is "I can't do anything." Their processes and policies are terrible and inefficient and I would recommend that you DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY.

I had a title car loan with Springleaf in September 2014. A few months after I got the loan, I called in for a loan payoff amount. They said my loan payoff was $5700 and some change. In December 2015 they called me and said I can get a Christmas loan. I inquired about how much I could get and she told me $600. I agreed. When I went to Springleaf to sign The loan papers, she told me that I was only approved for $465. I told her "No you said 600 on the phone" and she replied that it was $465. I was strapped for cash so I took the loan. So basically it was a refinance of my old loan with the extra $465 and the loan processing fee. I called them May 1 of this year 2016 and ask for a payoff. They told me that my payoff was $5500 and some change. They are a scam. So basically I have only paid off $200 of my loan from September 2014 till now. And the loan is supposed to be a three-year loan. They are very dishonest

My account was paid off last June 2015 and somehow there was a judgment sent to me saying I owed 600.00 more? I paid the 600 not knowing why and how I owed it due to having all the paperwork saying the account was paid. The judgment was cancelled and all money was refunded me but the judgment is still on my credit. If I owed 600 then why would Springleaf refund me a total of 850.00? This company is messed up.

Been using Credit Karma to fix my credit. After I applied, I called in a few days later to find out I was not approved and nothing I could do to help and possibly get the loan. Although I was approved on my loan, I initially decided against taking Springleaf due to some negative reviews I read. The branch manager took the time to call me and review my concerns and assure me that their policies were not conducive to the reviews. When I finally went in, they were precise, thorough and clear about all the paperwork, taking time to explain each page individually. I had my loan funded the very next day. I expect my entire experience will be just as positive. Thank you!

I was very pleased with the service that I received at the beginning and the end of my loan process. Springleaf was able to take my application over the phone and process my application and provide me with a decision within 2 hours of applying. Betty who works at the Burleson branch was very helpful and friendly. She provided me with all the information that I needed in order to make the decision to accept the loan with Springleaf. I would recommend Springleaf to my family and friends who are in need of a loan. Thanks Springleaf for being there when I needed help.

The customer service out of the Greenville, Ms office was a pity party from the rep. She played around with my loan application and lied back and forth. She didn't help me achieve my financial goals at all. Robin tried to help me in every way but it seems as if Felecia (I think was her name) was terrible and should be fired. You all can pull my file just to see who the lady was. She never would return my call and she lied about my app. She wanted me to do my car title and I didn't want to tie my vehicle up in a three year loan.

Then Robin worked around that and told me to get a cosigner and I did but the other girl never would call me back after that. SO when I finally called her she said, "Oh, I am sorry. It didn't work out." When I got a letter in the mail from them it said that it was denied due to not being able to verify employment and I say, "Oh no, that's a lie." Their reps lie and don't help people get approve. I was approved online for 2500.00 but she didn't acknowledge that and that why I wrote this review because they are a fraud when it comes to online apps and their reps in the office.

I was approved online without collateral only to call and have them deny me in store saying it was an automatic approval online with collateral which it wasn't because I never put anything relating to collateral online. I also screenshotted the submitted application to which they responded "well that's what it does online. It says you're approved but that's why you call because it's not a guaranteed approval"... So then why say approved if you're not?

On the 8th of April I contacted OneMain Financial about consolidating some of my loans. I had received a letter stating the approximate amount I was prequalified for. After checking my credit I was happily receiving not only that amount but several thousand more. It allowed me to get out from under a huge deficit I had faced for some time. All of this was completed in just one day. They were quick, helpful, and efficient. The amount I'll be paying back is doable for me. I have already recommended them to some of my friends.

I took out a 6K loan with no problems. I only needed the money for the short term and wanted to pay the loan off within a few months only to find out the $2,500 in interest was charged up front. So instead of a 6K loan showing up on my credit report it shows up $8,500. This was never explained to me up front. I was told I could pay the loan off with no penalty but was NEVER told they would charge me the full interest up front. How is this legal?

I took a home loan out on my home that was 100 percent paid off. I was only on disability so they said I need to have co-signer to qualify. My boyfriend that lived with me for over 10 years agreed. When we did the loan they claimed a few thousand they took out for an insurance that would pay off the loan if a death occurs. Well a few years pass, however my boyfriend passed away. I take the death certificate down to American General. They claim they don't know what I was talking about some insurance they sold us. They claim they took his name off the loan documents now that he is dead.

The next month later the place in Las Vegas disappears completely. I come to find out they sold my loan to Springleaf, which a few months later sold again to Bayview. I thought this is crazy, however I got paperwork from Bayview with my deceased boyfriend's name on the paperwork after supposedly they took it off and there was no insurance. I am not sure what can be done. I am just a senior trying to make ends meet but I feel like I was ripped off and lied to.

After being approved for a loan in Feb '14, I was advised by the Springleaf representatives that any extra money added to monthly statements would be automatically deducted from the principal. Therefore there would be less interest paid in the long term. It being said right from the representative I believed her. Any chance I got, I added extra money to my monthly statements, with the impression the extra money added to the monthly statement would be going towards principal. I continued to make all my payments in a timely manner, never paying any mind to the statements.

A little over a year went by and I took a look at how much principal I had left to pay off. Taking into account how much extra money I was sending with my monthly it didn't make sense with why I had too much principal to pay off. I called the Springleaf office in Apopka Fl to figure out what was going on. It was explained to me that all the extra money I was sending was not going towards principal. Instead, it was going to cover the following monthly payments. The more I sent, the more was being sent to cover the following payments. I asked if they could fix the problem because it was their mistake and they said, "No."

Nothing could be done about it because it was already processed. It was at the point they advised me if there was any extra money added to the monthly statements to call them first and they would then break up the payment into the normal monthly statement and extra money deducted towards the principal. Here I was thinking I could shorten the length of my loan, pay less interest, and get myself out of debt a little fast. If I made a mistake in my payments towards Springleaf, they would go through great length to collect every cent that is owed to them with compensation, but when Springleaf made the mistake I didn't even get apology. All I got was a resolution to their misleading information.

I have been a customer with Springleaf for 10 years or more. I have had multiple loans through them and have never had a 30 day late payment. Recently, I was out of the country on an emergency with my son who became deathly ill while traveling. I had no idea how long I would be away from home. Since I am single and have no one who can handle my financial affairs (other than the son who was sick), I was unable to get a payment submitted. When I returned home, I received an alert from my credit monitoring service that a 30 day late payment had been reported. I contacted my local office and explained why I could not be reached. I made the payment and asked as a one-time courtesy if the 30 day late payment could be removed due to the circumstances. The local branch was not very understanding and the only response I received, was they had never heard of it being done.

When I explained I knew it was possible because another company had just done it, they basically dismissed the issue. I have been recovering from a divorce and working hard on my credit, so to have this happen was devastating to me and affects me beyond Springleaf Financial. My score dropped 30 points as a result and is now hurting my ability to do the things I need to as well as my chances of being promoted. I would think for such a long time customer, they would have been understanding about things out of your control. I will be paying them off, never doing business with them again and certainly will not refer anyone to them. People are more than numbers, we are human and all face unplanned emergencies over the course of our lives. Being so cavalier about a situation that is detrimental to me, is just not the service level I would expect when I have proof of what good customer service is.

I got a loan from Springleaf in September on 2015. I have not have any problem paying my payment until March 2016. I broke a tooth and had to have an emergency Root Canal. IT was very expensive. SO, I didn't make my February payment. Juan called me and I explained what was going on. He was very nice. Said they understood things happen. Well... 4 days later Agnes calls me and is so rude! I explain to her about my conversation with Juan. She basically says "not my problem, we need the payment and we have your car if you don't pay." So I set up the payment. Now April's payment was due 11 days ago and they already calling me, harassing me.

I wish I would have never taken a loan with this company. I am really thinking about getting a part time job to pay it off as fast as possible. Oh, and they are calling me at work. I feel like telling them to come take the car. It has 270,000. miles on it and you're lucky if it will start. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Do not borrow from them!!!

I was signing my loan agreements and Lindsey was going pretty fast through them. Got to the end and she said the life insurance was on the loan "AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO ME". I am sitting here reading through the loan agreement right now and I see $499 for the insurance and shows that I am paying for it. Will be making a phone call in the morning. I don't appreciate being lied to. Here I thought it was a seamless process. Guess not.

Just a review of our loan process. I would highly recommend Springleaf to my family and friends. I am very happy with the loan and the loan agents. Our agent Joi ** is very nice and very personable. I had applied to many different loan offices, but the offer Springleaf had made and the politeness of Joi won me over. I wasn't going to go anywhere else.

Very professional. People and I would recommend people to them. Great to work with and they're there to help. They make me smile and they go over everything and talk to you like you are somebody. Better than dealing with a bank. The only thing I would change is better interest rates for people that pay well.

Have been a customer for about 4 years, never had my payment more than a month overdue. Then suddenly I can no longer pay online, and I call the local branch and they can't tell me anything. They told me I had to call litigation, which I did. I was sent to litigation while my account was current! Are you joking? So the girl says she'll ask her supervisor to move me back to the local office so I can continue making my payments since they haven't actually contacted an attorney and she doesn't understand why I'm in litigation to begin with. Then says "nope, we won't be doing that. We'll just handle your account from now on." Excuse me? No. I do not need to be in litigation, move me back. This is completely ridiculous. If I was ever 3 months behind I'd understand. I wasn't even past due at the time they sent me! This is completely ridiculous and not how you do business.

My wife and I have a 700 credit score. We went in their Norristown location the day of the auto purchase. I never thought to look at the interest till the day of 21% interest on a 3 year used car loan. I understand people have to make money but this was shady and should be looked into. I and my wife have excellent credit. I plan to also contact the attorney general on this matter.

I was doing a general loan search online. I only used the sites with soft pull credit checks. Springleaf made 2, yes 2 hard credit pulls! I had not given permission. They even generated a loan application and called me. I called them back and told them they had made a mistake and to retract the hard credit pulls. 1 hard pull and then another the next day. A reputable, honest lender would not need to make a 2nd hard credit pull especially the next day! I filed a complaint with the BBB. My credit score has dropped at all 3 bureaus. Springleaf must take care of this.

Springleaf has finally resolved the issue with my daughter's missing car title. Thanks to Leslie and her quick response and professionalism.

Original review: April 11, 2016

My daughter paid off her American General car title loan. After several requests, American General failed to return her car title paperwork to her. Now the company has been "sold" to Springleaf. She was told by the very office that gave her the loan that they have no idea where her American General title paperwork may be located (I guess all those client files magically disappeared). Springleaf sent her a letter stating that the loan has been paid off and there is no lien on her car rather than her title.

Here's the kicker! Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles will not reissue a title to her because the company name has changed to Springleaf from American General. She called Springleaf again asking that a new letter be issued with the wording "Springleaf, formerly American General" in the letter (DMV stated they would honor that letter). She was assured by Springleaf that the letter would be faxed to her immediately and would also arrive via mail within 2-3 days. No such luck! She is now stuck with a nine year old car with no title. She can't sell or trade the car without a title. This company, Springleaf, formerly American General is irresponsible with your personal paperwork and won't return a car title after the loan is paid off. BEWARE! They screw with your life!!

Company overcharge interest on monthly payments. For example, if you give three payments a month they charge my payment as $200 a month, $100 is interest. Every payment I make, if I make 3 payments a month, that's $300 of interest. They charge me if I advance months and they tell me I don't have a payment due until 4 months from now then they charge me interest every month. When I'm going back on the 4th month to make a regular payment they charge me interest for the month ahead and get the payment because I was in advance. So I think it's just an abuse, an advantage that they take of people situations. I would not recommend this business as a financial institution to help the consumers. This business is more of a theft to the consumers. I said that it's an 18 or 19% interest really and truly it's a 50% interest if you really get down and get your numbers.

I applied for a loan and was approved. I needed the money for a vacation. Person from the branch called and said I would need a car as collateral. I don't have a car so I asked if they could use anything else as collateral. Of course the answer was a big fat NO! They should have specified this before I took the hit on my report. Then of course my mother applies and is approve and they put down that she has a computer as collateral. Then gives her the money she asked for. Seriously, and she has collections on her report and I do not. What a joke!

Horrible experience. Not only did the branch manager deceive us... but we continue to receive information from the Springleaf front office offering to lower our interest rate. The most recent letter is addressed specifically to our address and indicates a specific offer number. Surprise! The offer wasn't real and we do not qualify although our credit is good. Springleaf did not identify my original loan as a secured vehicle transaction whereby causing havoc with my credit score. I have received no help after making several calls to the home office.

I applied for a Springleaf loan a few days ago. Submitted my application online with a co-applicant. I was told that my application was received and someone would be contacting me. The next day I got a call from a Loasha. She left a message. I called her right back, she never returned my call. I was on my way out for the day. I made another call to her, and left her a message. I went to my appointment, and call her from my cell phone, another person answered the phone and asked me if she could help me because Losha was out to lunch. I told her I was calling about my loan application. She check and informed me that some other loan officer had my application. She transferred me to this person. The loan officer she transferred me to ask me if we had a car to qualify for the loan.

I told her no. She said the loan was denied because we don't have a car. I asked her if they take other collateral to qualify for the loan because I owned a house. She told me no, if I didn't have a car. This was not part of the application process qualification on the website. It is like some of the other reviews read here. It is if they only want cars to rpo to resale. This is deceiving to prospective application. I did not know this was a title loan financial company. I thought Springleaf was a company that lend secure and unsecure loans to people with bad credit. I needed the loan to pay off credit cards and debts because I wanted to clear myself from a bad debt relief company that is not working out and buy a car.

July 2015 I decided to get a loan because of family emergency. I picked Springleaf Financial because they constantly calling me and sending me mails for approved credit. This was the first time I got in a Money loan system. I CAREFULLY ASK which payment system is advantage for me. I mean when I made a payment, a good amount of percentage will go to the Principal Loan Amount. The person that helps me said, "I will help you now to set up a Automatic Debit Payment on your advantage". I trusted them and I never monitor my payment due that family emergency. Eventually I lost my Mother. The approved amount is $5,500 + % = $5,870.69. From July 2015 to February 2016 I did not monitor my payments due to crisis in life.

This March I created online account to check the payment and the remaining balance and I was so SHOCKED! Fr: August 2015 to March 2016 I paid = $1,422.62. March 2016 Current Balance = $5,331.53 ($883.46 went to interest). I called them and I spoke to a nice gentleman and found out that my automatic payment was set up like "small amount will go to principal and the rest go to the interest". It is the complete opposite of what I asked for when I apply for the loan. Can anybody help me with this.

I obtained a loan from what was the American General Financial Services, which was taken over by Springleaf Financial. I want to sell my car, but the title still has the lien on it and Springfield Financial wants my account number to clear it. I have my old account number, but that does not show up in Springfield's records. All I get is the runaround for this company. If they bought out American General, you would think that they obtained the records of loans. I would stay well away from this company.

We have a 5th wheel and we wanted to remodel it. If we had to do it on our own it would have taken longer because we could only do a little at a time. We are both retired and live on a certain amount and don't have a lot after all the bills are paid and this loan helped us to use the money just for the remodeling. We were really pleased they helped us!

So I am on a debt management program and will be on the program for the next two years. Springleaf in Durham NC has been calling me constantly to offer me additional money and I have repeatedly told them that I cannot get any more money from them for my DMP will discontinue my benefits if I do. They seem to ignore this information and keep calling. I am very displeased with this. The man Jonathan that I spoke with a little while back said that he would "put a note in the system not to call me." So he lied to me. Okay, I am done with this and after I pay them off, I will not get another loan with them. I would rather my stuff go into collections than to ever borrow money from this horrible no good company again. When I say stop calling me, I MEAN stop calling me. I am trying not to be ugly, but it seems that when you get rude with them, they get the picture.

I was not looking for a loan at the time, but Springleaf associates called me every 1-2 weeks for about 2 months straight telling me I have been pre-approved for a loan. I did not need one as I was working on paying off current debt and trying to be more frugal with spending. However, I ended up having a big car maintenance bill and finally decided to take them up on their PRE-APPROVED offer that they call me very week about, always telling me "the loan is here if you need it." Well I did need it now. I went through the entire loan application process with them to find out I was not approved for the loan they have been calling me about.

Furthermore, now I have another credit application on my account which is going to hurt my credit that I have been working very hard to build back up. I am very angry about the way they run their business. Companies like these are for people to help them get back on their feet and improve their credit and cover hardship expenses, and they put me in a worse predicament.

This place has done nothing but waste my time and caused a hard inquiry on my credit. I was "approved" for a $5,000 loan via ad from Credit Karma, which puts length and payment amounts inaccurately by the way, and it says within 24 hours everything will be done. This was the night before. Take unpaid time off work to see them next day. All I got was a phone interview. First problem is they countered with a $1,500 offer. Why would you approve me for $5,000 if I can't get even close to it? But I wanted to establish credit worthiness so I was still on board.

Come in Saturday morning, 3 days after applying, and was told they can't do the loan on my car because of condition? There is only one small dent on an otherwise perfect exterior and it's a 98 Honda keep in mind. Oh and it has 106k miles on it. You can't find a car that year in such condition mechanically anywhere! I heard them whispering about how because it's lowered and a lot of custom work like rims and exhaust that's an issue. That only increases value people. Then the girl tells me it's mainly due to the door panels missing and "wires hanging out". What the hell does something as minorly cosmetic as door panels have to do with it? Even after explaining I just took them off to replace the regulators and motors, and it was a temporary thing, you could tell her utter lack of automotive knowledge kept her from understanding.

So here I sit wondering how I go from approved for $5,000 to $1,500 to sorry, door panels on a car nobody is trying to sell is a deal breaker. I want someone in this company at a higher level to review this, or I want this hard inquiry removed from my credit. Oh and speaking of credit, the lady gives me a hard time about a Capital One inquiry, which I was approved for. I'm trying to build credit lady. You know, getting a CREDIT CARD??? Unbelievable experience, will not recommend them to anyone.

First I am approved. Then I am not approved. Then I am approved again and they need all sorts of documentation to prove my identity so they can get the money to my account, which I take time to gather and send... aaaaaand... then I'm declined again due to no collateral. They knew this before the first approval! Very unprofessional and disorganized. I am not please that I sent over all of that personal information just to be declined. They should have just declined from the get go instead of giving me the run around and getting me to send over personal financial info.

Staff very attentive in helping when customer was in a bind and needing funds. I'm not the typical borrower, I truly was in a pinch. Per the loan documents there were no prepayment penalties and borrower to be responsible for accrued interest to date not interest over the lifetime of the loan. Making large payments and paying off loan in a matter of a couple months rather than the 24 months of the loan, there was no prepayment penalty per the paperwork. Monthly statements do not reflect interest owed, rather they reflect only the full balance of the loan at the matured date, however I was told to contact them and the actual balance would be provided should I decide to pay off earlier than the mature date.

After four requests for a detailed accounting of the loan, from the branch as well as corporate, needed in order to make an exact final payment in full, the final accounting has yet to be received. Even though each of my requests advised that I wanted to pay in full within the same business day so there is no question as to when the final payment would be received. A week has come to pass and still, no response from the branch or corporate. Paying another week's interest to benefit themselves due to their failure to respond will allow them to request payment for such. Truly thought they were a good honest lender.

Every loan matching service tells me that I have an excellent chance of getting approve. So, stupidly, I keep applying only to be turned down time after time. My credit score is not great, but not terrible. But, they said my debt to income ratio is too high. I am not late on any bills and I would just like to consolidate some credit cards. I would be paying less for their loan than I am for my cc bills. They explained that it is all done by computers. This company says it is for bad credit but that is not true. Now, all of the inquiries from them are killing my chances of getting another loan.

I applied online and received a $5000 approval. They called with 30 minutes to go over account information and ask a lot of questions regarding the autos that I own, which I thought was strange and odd. Keep in mind, the approval that was emailed said to send Most recent pay stubs, most recent Tax returns, W2, or bank statement showing direct deposit. I am on Commission, but I am a W2 employee. Therefore, I sent recent pay stubs and W2 for 2015, showing more than enough income that I put on my application. I am in real estate, so I know how to calculate income.

The guy calls back and says they are calculating my income less than my application, so I would need to put up my vehicle for collateral. I told them they are full of crap, and look for loop holes to make you put your car up. This is deceptive and misleading practice. I even shared my income with a mortgage lender, and they calculated more money than I put on the application, which must confirmed these people try and look for ways to charge you extra fees/rates or put your car up and hope you default, so they can repo it!

I was very please the way the agent spoke with me. She explained all the details, about the loan, and other products, which were optional. OneMain gave me a chance, and was there when I really needed it.

I am very pleased with OneMain. They are very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. I got the help I needed and then some. I didn't expect such an awesome borrowing experience. I will go back and I would highly recommend them to everyone. They made my day.

At first this process was going good. Extra friendly. I applied for a loan. At first they told me I WAS approved. Then they asked for all my information acting as if they were are going through with the process, then I never received a call back informing me that I was denied. When they needed information they called or emailed every five minutes requesting information. But not to have the nerve to call a customer back and say YOU are DENIED is crazy. This is very unprofessional. They ignore the calls instead of being courteous. It makes no sense that the company cannot let a person know that the loan/information did not go through. Now I feel that they have all my information. I do not know what they are doing with it. They have a copy of everything. How do I know these people are trustworthy? WHAT COMPANY DOES THAT!!?

I applied online for a debt consolidation loan and it said that I was approved. I went into the office and was told to bring titles for collateral... I went in a submitted my information and I was told I would receive a callback. No one called me back... I called back two days later and was told that I was denied. Was placed on hold for 10 minutes only to be told I would receive a callback because the rep had customers in front of her. I asked if she had my number, she said yes.

Still no callback so I called back the next day and spoke with the rep and an assistant manager because at this point I was really upset and felt as though the entire process was unprofessional. The assistant manager told me that he would call me back and one day plus the weekend has passed still no callback or response. I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau because my credit has been pulled and I feel as though I was not serviced as a future/prospective customer. Very unprofessional.

I've made 2 loans so far through OneMain Financial and they are there when I need them. The customer service that my wife and I received both times were phenomenal. Chuck and Debbie are 2 of the best I've dealt with. I would highly recommend.

I was approved and submitted all of my information by fax on Tuesday. By Thursday I was told after carefully considering my application my request for a loan was denied. I am very disappointed and I will never apply for a loan from them again.
