Like many others on here, I too was "pre-approved" for a loan of $6,000 but when I applied, they couldn't do anything. My credit wasn't good enough, but I think I make enough for one. And once again, after denied, I continued to receive offers in the mail. Which I consider a slap in the face especially since it was a hard inquiry.

Nobody likes getting a loan. Things happen and you just have to do what you must. I turned to Springleaf approximately a year or so ago and they were helpful in getting the amount I needed for debt consolidation. I wasn't behind on any, no late payments but I was ready for them to be paid off. Credit score was not good although that was the point of the credit accounts to increase score. After increasing it by some it still was at a poor rating and they still gave me what I needed. I paid on time every payment and really needed help recently although I still was paying on previous loan.

I needed to pay for my classes since I don't qualify for assistance this semester. They were very helpful to me once again and came to my rescue. I start school in January for my ADN and hopefully won't require any more assistance from them but I know it's not always approved but I would definitely recommend them and go back to them again. Thank You. Macon Rd. Columbus, GA store.

I have been working with an employee at the Central office by the name of Jamie. When I first applied online I was called immediately and told I was approved for a $3000 loan as soon as they could verify my information. Since then I have been contacted no less than 10 times and asked to verify my information again and again in many different ways. When I called to speak with Jamie I was told she was sick and that no one else could help me. It has been 8 days and I still have not received my loan. When Jamie did return and I was able to speak with her and not her voicemail she was very rude and condescending and even aggressive towards me. I am very dissatisfied with this service and very disillusioned with this company and I will warn anyone I know against using their services. I hope that in the future they train their employees better with customer service skills as they are the first contact with the public.

I received a pre-approval notice in the mail at a time in which additional funds would help me tremendously health wise. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover the treatment that I need to treat my tumors, so I have to pay out of pocket. That was explained to both loan officers that this is a pressing situation. Both Megan (? last name) and Nick ** were extremely helpful in assisting me in getting the required documents. I was told I was approved for a certain amount and enough to pay of 3 small cc bills which would come FedEx and the other funds direct deposited in my checking account.

After I gave the information, I left maybe a total of 6 calls and 4 messages to the both as to what is the status at this point. I'm very anxious one, I have scheduled treatment after I was told I was approved. Secondly, I wanted to be prepared for the holidays and how this treatment will affect me along with radiation. Everyone was so professional in the beginning, I was approved and then nothing! I pray that I am not being taking advantage of especially at this point in my life. I was expecting to have the money in hand to have treatment this coming week. Please help!

Well it is now well past a business day and still have received no call or email and they ran a hard inquiry on my credit. If I'm giving you my personal information, and you're running a hard inquiry on my credit I expect a phone call in the least, whether approved or denied. I applied after reading about them, thinking we could actually get a loan to consolidate our bills. After talking to the lady she said I probably would not get what I asked but somebody would call with a couple offers, then she saw we were paying high interest on our van and she said they would help me with that also. That soon I would get an email from her and hear back the next day. It has been a couple days now I have heard nothing from anybody and have not received an email. My wife and I really got our hopes up that somebody would help us get back on our feet. Our credit is not great, but we have good reasons for it, and we are trying to build it back up, but we needed help. So yeah pretty disappointed here.

I took a loan and knew that the interest will be high. I happened to look at my statement and noticed that the principal has not dropped much. Out of a $220 payment $217 was interest. How can this be? I contacted a debt management company and they will try and work with them to bring the interest down. How are they different from predatory lenders. I realize I was in need and don't have good credit, but should they do what they want since I don't have other options. I live in Washington state and some suggested I check in with the office of attorney general.

I used my car as collateral. I called the manager to ask if they can release the title so I can sell and will put that money towards my debt. They needed $2500 and the car is only worth $1000. I tried to explain to them I have another car but no they need $2500. I have paid them for 3 years on time except when I was out on medical leave for 2 months. When I went to the website and I entered the code it came up that I was approved at 33.79% and 48 payments of $200.78. It then asked if we wanted another amount. We decided to ask for $6,000.00. I spoke with 2 women, I was told to call back in an hour and I did. I was then told to get a co-signer so my husband was going to take the loan out with me. When he called to give them his financial information they told he we were denied. When my husband called back and inquired how we could be denied if I was prequalified for the original $5,250.00 the woman who answered the phone said, "I'm not too sure." So I can't speak for anyone else but make sure the people you're dealing with at least know their product.

The next day, I submitted the information that was required to secure my loan and the following day I received my check via UPS! Micheal ** (loan officer) was very helpful and very professional. My loan was under 4,000 with a payment of 125. I have read the other reviews and I'm hoping in the future I don't experience the hardship that a lot of other people have stated. So far, so good! After a couple of hours he called to tell me I was not approved after all and that if I wanted a loan I would have to get a cosigner to go on the loan with me. No one called me back and I could have got in contact with other people but I was waiting. This definitely unacceptable for a financial institution but I guess this is how they do business. I have a loan with them and I'm update so not sure why I wasn't approved, but believe once it's paid I WILL not be going back there!!! I want hard inquiries removed that is so advertised on their website.

All loans were paid off, last one being several years ago and the UCC Financial Statement (Lien(s)) were never removed from the records (county). Currently I am in the process of selling my house and my agent (lawyer) brought to my attention that the lien(s) were still in place. How disappointing after being a repeat customer.

They claim to be a lender for people with bad credit. I applied for a loan over a month ago. I was only looking for $1000 to pay off some small bills. I was told by the representative that called me to finish my online application that she was sending my application to the underwriters. At no point did she indicate that I was not approved nor did she say that I would need a co-signer or collateral. I waited a week a never heard from them so I called to check on the status of my loan.

At that time I was told the loan was still with the underwriters and that I would be hearing from them soon. It is now a month later and I still have not heard anything. I called again today to check on the status of my application and was transferred by the first representative without ever telling me he was transferring me. Still no word on whether I have been approved or denied - although I imagine I have been denied. Of course, I have a hard inquiry on my credit now which dropped my score making me more of a risk although I am trying to repair my credit. I thought these people were supposed to offer loans for people like me but apparently not!

    Updated review: Nov. 7, 2015

I recently wrote a review on this site about how Springleaf wasted my time; I was approved for a loan, submitted most of the required documentation and was told after I had already been approved that the approval had been reversed because my loan term was longer than my estimated dated of separation (I am active duty AF). I was upset that after submitting almost everything that they asked and then doing a hard hit on my credit they had taken the loan away. I was contacted shortly by the company following the post of my first review on this site and they worked with me to get me my requested amount.

The customer representatives that I had the pleasure of speaking with were nothing but professionals through this whole ordeal. I felt as though they understood my frustration, which is why they were willing to work with me in the manner they did. Never have I been in business with a company so willing to resolve a consumer complaint. So would I recommend Springleaf? A thousand times yes. Awesome customer service, timely replies to questions that I had, and just overall on point.

    Original Review: Oct. 26, 2015

I applied for a consolidation loan through Springleaf and I initially got approved. I did it over the weekend, but received a call the following Monday to finish the approval process. The agent was very helpful and friendly, and answered all my questions. The only thing that I was missing before I was cut a check was a voided check for routing and account number purposes; it's 2015, and I for one am not a fan of checkbooks, especially this day and age. I received an email on 22 October to finalize the process (once again still missing the voided check) and sent an email explaining the situation. On 26 October I got a phone call from one of the agents, missing the call I called the company back for them to tell me they had reversed the approval because my estimated time in service (I am active duty) is not the duration of the loan.

I am writing this review because not only did I take a hard hit on my credit, went through unnecessary steps, since all my information was entered initially, including my ETS during the application process, but Springleaf also wasted my time -- the most precious thing of all. So I just wanted to say thank you to Springleaf for wasting my time.

This company is a predatory lender. The exact same tactics and the classic bait and switch. I promptly declined. I didn't get the loan and I have an inquiry on my credit report because they pull your credit. This company is not operating fairly or honestly and please do not trust the pre-approved mail. We wanted to take out a personal loan to pay off medical debt. Our credit is not perfect, nor is it too bad. Springleaf approved us for more than we requested. They wanted to pay off one of our credit cards as well, and we also needed to put a vehicle up for collateral. According to our loan papers, that disappear after 24 hours, our first payment was due September 13th 2015. Our phones began ringing off the hook on the 6th of September. On the 9th, I paid the first payment of 145 and the CSR told me that my due date was the 3rd of every month. They would change it to the 13th, no problem.

October rolls around and again the calls begin around the 9th stating that we were late and our due date couldn't possibly be changed until after we were current on our bill. I requested that the recorded conversation from September be reviewed because the CSR stated that it was changed. Never heard back from the supervisor regarding this complaint.

Make October's payment and I notice on October 22nd 2015 that the payment has not come out of our checking account. I called and spoke with an agent, whom by the way are low on the intellectual scale, to be informed that our payment was sent back as NSF. We had 2k in our account when the payment was made, and we have NEVER has a NSF for any payments made to any other company EVER. We were assessed a late fee and a NSF. I asked for a copy of this NSF fee and was told they wouldn't send me a copy, but would reverse once I sent in our bank statement, showing that on October 18th we had 2000 in the bank. Wow! OK, I will jump through hoops because I am not paying a penny extra. I authorized another payment from the same account, and wouldn't you know it, still no payment deducted from my checking account.

Beware, this is a predatory lender. Also, if you chose to do business with them, record EVERY SINGLE CALL for your safety, take screen shots on your bank statements the day you make your payment, and file a complaint with your state's Attorney General. I plan on refinancing this loan with another bank because it is my fear that this is their scam to come repossess a vehicle and walk away with profits. DO NOT DO THIS EVEN IF YOU ARE DESPERATE!!!

Woke up the next morning to find a voicemail that was left at 12:34 am stating that they needed to verify my information. Later that morning I receive a call from Tara at the local branch. She was extremely pleasant and very professional. After collecting all of my information I was denied because my debt to income ratio was too high. In my offer, it was initially estimated at a payment of $177 per month and the debt I wanted to pay off had a payment that was greater than $600 per month.

After explains all this, Tara resubmitted everything and was still denied. I'm not sure what calculations they do, but mine actually shows a drop in debt to income by doing this loan. I don't have good credit, even borderline poor due to decisions I had to make in my past to put my family's needs first. But everything is caught up and payments made with all accounts in good standing for over 2 years now. I think that they are more searching for people that are likely to default on the loan. The only positive to the whole experience was Tara. No matter what, she remained extremely pleasant to deal with. It was whoever was making the decision, apparently made sure I wasn't the type of customer they wanted. Someone who is working hard and currently paying all debts with very little risk to losing my job, just wanting to refinance higher payment debts for a more manageable amount.

"I don't know" or "That is weird" is not an appropriate answer!!! I borrowed money from elsewhere to pay the untrustworthy branch off. He even acted like the was doing me a favor by changing the numbers on the next auto-withdrawal to actually match my contract!!!

When went in to give them the check, they were again rude, clueless and unhelpful. The lady (not the one that initially filled out the contract with me nor the one I spoke with on the phone) claimed that the numbers matched my contract (of course would not show me the contract as I didn't bring my copy), then the story was that it was a processing fee, and then decided that I had elected to pay more money per month which I know I had not. In a roundabout way, headquarters was called and notified about the complaint and issue and headquarters agreed that the withdrawal was incorrect and didn't match my contract and that the branch was covering their ass-ets.

I checked again in September 2015 and it had not been removed, so I called and spoke with another rep who said that they would investigate and decided if the charge should be removed. I told him I had written a check in the amount of $275 in June 2015, which was just about paid off before the addition showed up. The rep said that I would get a call back once the investigation was completed.

I never received a callback, so I called back in late September 2015 and was told that in October 2012 an amount from my account was mistakenly charged to another account so it was reapplied to my account. I asked for all statements from 2012 to present, hoping that they would point out where the mistake was made but instead mailed massive statements, without any written explanation whatsoever. I am in the process of pulling up all payments from my bank and having an accountant look over the massive printout mailed to me which included a loan dated back to 2006, paid off in April 2012, and didn't have anything to do with the October 2012, so-called mistake. I never knew that amount could be added onto a consumer's account with any explanation of how the mistake was made.

I applied for a loan, and was approved. But when I spoke to them they wanted to secure it on my vehicle. Okay, that's fine too. So I bring in the title, pay stubs, all this (astonished to be required) but I did, and was approved. And here's what they came up with: $10,600 loan, $372 x 48 months. Can anybody here do the math? That's $17,856. Or in other words, my borrowing $10,600 would cost me $7,256 in addition to the amount of $10,600. There are mafia families that offer better rates, and it's not even secured. This is beyond hardball interest - in fact, they are charging the maximum allowed by law - the same rate as a title loan company.

What's especially insulting about that...is it was because my car, which is paid off, is worth about $13,000 cash. I talked to my bank who gave me a CAR EQUITY LOAN at 4% interest. My total payback - under $12K. The payment over $100 less per month. I told Springleaf I did not want their loan. PERIOD. All that Springleaf or any title company is going to do is borrow the money from a bank and give it to you using your automobile equity as collateral anyway. Why not just cut out the $5000 middle man? If you have bad credit, make a deal with whom you owe the money. Do not under any circumstances borrow from these guys - the last thing you want is a 36% interest loan on your credit report. That is all.

I knew I could not afford my $275 payment any longer and called the branch to ask to restructure the terms so I could get a lower payment instead. They completely refused my request several times. They would say, "Sure we will be glad to help you" and then say "oh no, we can't adjust your loan terms, that's impossible".

They lied to me. They never wanted to help me. Over $12,000 in perfect payment histories for 6-1/2 years means absolutely nothing to them. They treated me like dirt, not like a valued customer. They told me the only way to get my loan terms changed was to default and let them sue me. So now they have sued me and their lawyer tells me they will still not change my loan terms and instead want a judgement for the $5000 balance PLUS another $2000 in lawyer fees and interest. They lied to me again!!

Told us from day 1 we were approved for 3,000, we asked for 5,000 just to tell us they couldn't move any further. Because I hadn't worked the prior year, I was in school. But I didn't apply last year, I just got my certificate to work this year. With the funds to back up the loan. We were denied. We are livid!! Do not apply here. They want all your information just to deny you in the end.

I was late on a two payments and had a pay day two days away, which I explained. I was coaxed into borrowing another $500 to catch my loan up, write a new loan and increase my balanced owed plus interest, I might add. After looking at my statement, the balance went from $3615.93 to a balance of $7411.35!!! How does that happen?

I applied when I got the first one several years ago and was denied, and at the time my mom's credit was worse than mine and she got approved. So I received a few more offers in the mail and ignored them as there was no point to try again and get more credit inquiries. Received another offer today a few years later, so go online to apply, and it comes back denied again after my credit has improved so much over the past few years. This company is ridiculous, and wouldn't waste your time to apply. I called a branch to find out why it was denied, and they couldn't even tell me that, and the employees were very rude. I'll go elsewhere.

So I recently found myself in a financial bind with unsecured credit cards. I decided I needed to do a debt consolidation as I did not want to file bankruptcy. Since I received a letter from Springleaf informing me I was pre-qualified for $5,000, I decided to give it a try. I applied online, and moments later received a letter stating I was approved. Followed up with a phone call to the local branch, where I spoke with the personal loan specialist, she informed me I was approved for and could add my vehicle to the loan but receive $3500. I informed her this is not an option for me, I will not be adding my vehicle and that I would consider taking the loan and contact her within a day or two. I soon contacted her and was in the next day completing my loan application.

While there I felt rushed, but was ok considering I really didn't want to be in the office more than 30 mins. While in the office I had another representative approach me about adding my vehicle and I told them no, that adding my vehicle is not an option once again. Next, a gentleman approach me about my monthly payments in which he told me they were at least $40 dollars more than what I initially agreed upon. After expressing my displeasure, he corrected course and offered the original payment presented to me during my initial offer.

Next, I went through the electronic signing with my PLS, who sort of rushed through the process. After finishing I received my check and left. Overall it was an experience that may work for some and may not work for others. The best thing I can say is that I was able to handle my bills on time and I know that I have the ability to pay off my loan a bit earlier than the length of the loan and look forward to doing so.

They asked for everything but my first born son and I quickly supplied it. Granted, my cleaning income and total deposits for 90 days was over 14 grand so why the hell wasn't I approved for a 2500 loan? Clearly my bank statements (going back years) proved that I could make the $98 monthly payment. Annoyed and will never use them again. I've never had a problem with this finance company til they opened a branch in San Bernardino. They are rude and definitely not honest. I applied for a loan, it was approved. The loan officer (Anna) did not tell me if I wait a week to pick up the check, it would be minus $90.00 for interest. Wow really! if I could run in that day I would of but if I have to work to pay it back, be fair.

I was also called in the branch for Saturday business hours and was given the wrong info. Not only was I at the branch on Saturday afternoon but 2 other customers also who were given the wrong info on business hours. Now this has to be some kind of scam from this office because that would led to the loss of $90.00. Now 1 month later I don't qualify because of my credit. Well that's what some of the loan was for. All I could do is transfer offices and get these people paid off asap. I will NEVER do business nor recommend Springleaf Financial.

When I got to the branch, Anthony QUICKLY went over the information and come to find out, he added all kinds of insurance for unemployment and disability... told me it was "built into the loan"-- thinking that I didn't have the option to opt out of it. By the time we finished the actual amount I was approved for was 2500.00 but 500.00 of that went to all the insurance premiums that were "built into the loan". The payments per month aren't bad but its very discouraging to know these kind of tactics are used. I'm paying this loan off ASAP and never using this service again all because a loan officer strong armed me into the extras added into my loan.

The reason I am now wasting my time to comment is because I received a letter in the mail today from a collection agency on the same account that has been paid off for 3 years or more. How does a paid in full account end up in the hands of some fishy collection agency. Is this the reason why we never received the paperwork, so it could be sold as a bad debt. My fiancé had to call them and ask why they wouldn't answer their phone and the woman said she'd call before she went on lunch and so we waited and she didn't call so we call back and a man answered and said she had already went to lunch and would call when she got back. She ended up calling my mom at 4:30 and when she was done she said she would call my fiancé with an answer as to if we got the loan or not and she never called.

We waited until 3 the next day and my fiancé called her and she said we were approved for $2,345 but we would need the vin number and we would need to contact the man and get him to bring the title to the closest Springleaf near him, and they told us they would send the check to him and not to us and when we asked why we couldn't get the check ourselves they told us they don't give checks out to the people who applied for the loan... (Even though my mom and her boyfriend went through Springleaf a month beforehand and she cosigned with him and they gave him the check that day) so we ended up canceling our loan with them because we didn't feel right letting them send a check to some guy we've never met and just assume he'll let us have the motorcycle even after he gets his check. We will never go through them again. We actually got approved through 1st Franklin financial WITHOUT the title or the vin number.

I currently have a Credit Karma account. I was recommended to apply for a loan through Springleaf to help pay off the few debts that I have. I applied through Springleaf and did the application and was approved for $2,000. Which I was excited about. Finally I can pay off my debts and get back in good standing. I was upset about the high interest rates but that didn't matter because I was going to pay it back soon. The next day a Springleaf representative spoke with me and stated that I had to just provide verification of employment by emailing my paycheck stub to verify the monthly amount that I get from my job. I also informed the representative that I wanted to see if I can qualify for 5,000. She stated that she will have to do full application and then go from there. I stated okay.

I informed the Representative that when I did the application I added my boyfriend income as well as mine. Because I was think of monthly income that I get even if it's not from work, you can do that on credit card application. Funny thing is I informed her of this information. She states that it is okay that I can just send that paycheck stub to verify funds. I once again informed her that I will get denied because it doesn't match because I added my boyfriend's income. She didn't reply or anything. The next day I follow up with her because during this whole process I'm following up with her and she tells me that I am denied to monthly income not matching. When I told her before she processed the application that it's not going to match because I added my boyfriend's income.

I also asked her can I get approved for the 2,000 instead of the 5,000 she states not either one. I wanted to see what I can do to change that before she processes it. But she processed it anyways. Then the next day she informs me that I can add my boyfriend to the application to see if I can get approved. I'm still asking her was there any way that I can change my application to my monthly income she states no, then I inform her that my boyfriend doesn't have good credit but we can try since you are telling me that my ONLY option since I ALREADY stating from the beginning before you processed my application that I added my boyfriend's income.

Well I find out that I was not approved and now I am pissed. Because I should be approved. I should have this loan. It's just horrible customer service. I can see if I was hiding things or not informing her of this information but she still processed it after I informed her of that and she could have changed it. I would like someone to contact me to get this resolved.

After reading fair reviews to receive loans with Springleaf, I gave it a try. My husband and I lost most of our assets in 2009. Like many other Americans the economy of that year took a toll on us. After attending financial workshops my husband and I were directed to NOT file BK and let our finances go, re-establish new credit, and rebuild. We have done so, however the past seems to haunt us! With time on our side, a great auto finance history, and a FICO of over 600 we thought a much needed small personal loan would be considered simple with Springleaf. I am very skeptical of having my credit hit as I don't like ANY dings. That said, I WON'T HAVE MY CREDIT PULLED, unless the opportunity looks promising.

The representative whom contacted me was nice, and seemed promising. However I felt misled, and left with a denial without much thought or option. In fact I had to call the office back, and be advised by a different rep, unaware of my application, that I had been denied. I felt I was given no explanation, and still find it hard to understand how a company designed to help people like me, can't. If people were in a good position to borrow, they wouldn't be nailed with a high %. If I qualified for a car loan 2 years ago, and my credit is even better now I question why it would be difficult to support a small loan such as the one I requested.

The experience was impersonal, and disappointing.

I found Springleaf Financial online and based on some reviews was happy to find a location near my area. I filled out an app. online. Within about 2 seconds, it returned "my app. couldn't be approved". A few days later I received an email stating why my app. was denied. I'm curious how a person can have a 677 credit score, apply for a loan focused on those with bad credit and be denied. Then under Principal Reasons For Denial, they stated that it was because of my "type of residency". Wow Springleaf I didn't know that renting was a bad residency status to have to apply for a loan with your institution. Additionally it stated that denial was due to "insufficient recent activity". However like I said my credit score is 677. I don't like to drown in debt and this company punishes people for that. Going forward like this, this company will have more than one problem on their hands.

I don't recommend Springleaf and it's not because I was denied, but because of their stereotyping and they aren't what they advertise. Institutions that really specialize in providing loans to those who have bad credit won't deny based on these reasons. Honestly if we as people used these same criteria to judge businesses then based on some of the reviews here on CustomerAffairs your company would fail.

I am a existing customer who has a loan with Springleaf. I was told that I could make another loan after 6 months. So, I called Springleaf and applied over the phone with Edith the Manager. Edith took my info and then said she would call back. Another clerk called and told me I could come in because I was approved. Before I could end the call Edith the Manager grabbed the phone from the clerk and begin yelling at me loud enough so her employees could hear her and asked me why do I need the money. I didn't know Springleaf would hire a manager who is so unprofessional so I declined the loan.

Updated on 9/10/2015 - I was contacted by a representative of Springleaf Customer Service who listen to my complaint about my horrible experience with their manager Edith. All she did was say "sorry this happen" and she didn't have anything to offer me for compensation. I was humiliated and embarrassed in front of the whole Springleaf staff by management and there is nothing you can do, then why did you contact me? This was a complete waste of time.

Customer service was awesome & I did not feel pressured to purchase additional products. I was literally "in & out" & was able to complete my errands for the day. Would definitely recommend to others & would use them again if necessary.

I applied with Springleaf Financial twice within 2 months, got rejected both times. I needed a 3000 to catch up on bills since my father passed away late last year. I decided to take this loan at the Canton, OH office because it was convenient. The employee were very nice but could not help me because of the amount I requested, 3000. I told them it was temporary til my father's estate closed in September and I could repay in full by November being safe and still got denied. So much for trying and wanting to help. Someone help.

Recently my husband and I went online to start a loan process. Springleaf contacted me almost immediately by email. I told them what we wanted. They followed up with a phone call, told me what documents they needed and we met the next day to complete the loan. All signatures were done online, so no bulky paperwork to carry out. Our Hands didn't get tired from all the signing. Just clicked the mouse a few times. Our copies were all in an email. Now saved to the computer. Love this process, so much better.

You don't advertise yourself as a company that helps people with credit problems and then treat them just like any bank would. I requested 5000 for debt consolidation and got an email telling me it was approved. Got my hopes up that finally after years of struggling, someone was finally going to help. Got the phone call. She took more information said I would hear back to finalize everything. Get the call back and I have been turned down. Thanks for nothing. Is it too much to ask for to help a friggin struggling veteran.

I make too much money to qualify for any other kind of help. I don't owe enough to qualify for debt relief help. And my credit is too low to help myself. So a college kid making minimum wage with 100k in debt could get help because he has over a 700 score, but a married veteran, father of 3 who makes 50k a year can't get any help because his score is 580? How messed up is this? Everyone falls and hard times. I just thought someone cared enough to help. I guess I was wrong. And people wonder why so many veterans take their lives. How many of those do you think are financially related. Think about it. I don't recommend doing business with companies that advertise that they care, but don't.

After being sent a pre-approval offer, I decided to apply since I have been wanted to repair my credit and did not know where to start. Based on the website and the way it's being advertised, it states that their services are for credit repair. I was excited knowing there was a company out there that can consolidate my cards with knowing that my credit needed repair. DUH! Credit repair means the credit is damaged maybe with late payments or over-limits or over-utilization, etc. Well I applied and was then prompted to a screen that stated that a rep will be in contact with me within 15 minutes. Well 30 minutes later, still NO CALL. But I understood, a lot of work so I will call myself. I was attended by a wonderful rep, very sweet. She asked me several questions and reassured me that I should be fine. I was under the 60% limit and that I will be approved. Well, I called in to get a status and then I was told I was denied due to income.

I stated that even if the loan amount has to be reduced to at least give me an offer if that is the reason of the denial. Well I provided them with additional income information and they resubmitted to underwriting again. Once again I called to get my status and wow DENIED AGAIN and now for delinquency. REALLY??? First, obviously, it's credit repair so the credit will have its negatives. Second, it's like they wanted to deny me anyway because they found another reason that was not the INITIAL reason. I was heartbroken because I had high hopes with this company that was willing to help me better my credit and finally get on track! I was even recommending 2 other customers but after this, NO WAY!

I went to Springleaf Financial and got approved for a loan in April. Michael was the person that I spoke to and at first, I told him that I just wanted to get enough to pay off a $6,000 debt. He told me that they could pay my car off and give me extra money to help me out. I was also told that it would be wise to get insurance in the event I was not able to make my loan payments. I agreed and my first payment was due in May, which I made and a second loan payment in June.

In July, I notified Michael that I was told that I had Stage 1 Breast Cancer and I would need a Lumpectomy. He told me to get the paperwork to the Dr. and I did. He assured me that it would be all right. About a week later, I got a call from him and explained that I was trying to get the paperwork filled out and I would get it to him as soon as possible. In the meantime, more calls came in and I told them that I was doing my best to get them the necessary paperwork that they requested from my Dr.

The next time I saw him was after I had my surgery and I was able to bring the paperwork to him. I informed him that the Dr. told me that I had Stage 2 Breast Cancer instead of Stage 1 and I would need Radiation and possible Chemo. I told him that I could not make a payment at this time. I had missed 5 days of work. He was extremely rude and unconcerned about my prognosis! I was told that Merit Insurance may or may not pay my missed payments, that he would let me know.

I am very angry and frustrated by this, I did not ask for this to happen to me! When I am able to make the payments I will gladly do so, but at this time I am struggling just to survive... If they do not pay the missed payments and I lose my car, I am going to contact the Attorney General of Indiana. I was told that in the event of a mishap, etc. that Merit Insurance would pay my loan. I need to be reassured that I will not lose my car or be harassed by your people, anymore! I am still waiting to find out how much Radiation I will need, according to my Dr. it looks like at least 3 weeks and there is a possibility of Chemo. I cannot get back on my feet until this is over and finished. Please contact me as soon as possible.

I make very good money so my debt to income ratio is in a very good place. I received a letter in the mail saying I was pre-approved for a personal loan with verbiage leading me to believe they had the necessary background information already. I was prompted to go to the website, enter the pre-approval code and the loan would be processed. When I did so I immediately received a "hard hit" on my credit report. I was contacted by an associate who informed me that I did not have anything that would secure the loan and was denied. Unethical practices and a complete waste of time.

I was a customer of Springleaf for approximately 3 years. I was getting closer to paying them off. They are a good solution if you do not have good credit. I called to see if I could get a little more on my loan. After going back and forth for a few days, they asked for paystubs. I sent this to them. My direct deposit stub does not have the name of our company, as they do not print the direct deposits on check stock. I said I could print them out a statement or get a letter from my employer stating my pay and to verify that I am still employed with the same company for 8 years. They said they will not take that and denied me without even verifying employment.

This made me a little unhappy considering I had been a loyal paying customer of theirs. I filed a complaint with their headquarters and did not get a reply, thought this was unprofessional. I ended up going to a credit union, which I paid off what I had left with Springleaf and getting the loan I needed at significant drop in interest almost 20% drop. Springleaf Financial has extremely high interest rates but like I said if you are in a bind and do not have good credit and you are willing to pay the rate I guess it is good. I felt treated very poorly and felt they were very unprofessional and not willing to work with me at all.

Springleaf appeared to have a professional demeanor in the beginning of the business relationship. However, everything changed once I attempted to payoff my loan and voiced questions about the interest of the loan. The representatives could never answer if the interest is compounded daily or monthly, monthly interest and what is the interest rate? So once I tried to start paying online to avoid the annoying calls and inconsistent professional attitudes towards my questions.. my account number was changed and eventually I couldn't logged on to pay online. I finally walked into the store to just payoff the loan in full and was hit with a balloon interest. I will never use, recommend or speak positive on this leech sucking company... Springleaf!!!

Some days I called and no one answered, all I got is a machine. I was told two days ago that they still didn't have an answer and someone would get back to me. WRONG AGAIN. I have heard no before so that's not a problem for me but at least give me an answer. I started a new job and with any new job you have to work about two weeks in the hole. However, after applying online and agreeing to a hard inquiry on my credit report, I was denied due to my student loans which I am not even paying on yet and don't plan to be paying on for a few more years but because they are listed on my credit report, I was denied, even with collateral.

I was told I could list a cosigner but was trying to avoid that. I even asked for a much lower amount and was denied. Very upset since I received the prequalified offer and now have a hard inquiry on my credit report which is going to make my score even lower and I am trying to improve my credit!! I applied for a $3000 loan to consolidate my bills on Friday August 14th. I was contacted by Springleaf a few minutes after I applied. The employee asked me to verify all of the information on my application, and said she couldn't verify my income because I have only worked at my current place of employment for a few months. I completely understand that. She said she was going to call my co-applicant, which was my father, to verify all of his information. He wasn't able to make it to the phone, and the employee left him a voicemail with their personal extension. About an hour or so later when he was free, he called back and received no answer, so he left them a voicemail.

Today (Monday, August 17th), they called my father again to verify all of the information I put on the loan application. He called me right after to tell me they denied my application because he lives in Ohio and I live in Maryland. They said they cannot provide loans to people if their co-applicant is from a different state. That information was on the first part of the application I filled out on Friday. My question is, why was I even contacted and questioned, if I didn't even qualify for the loan in the first place? I should have been informed that my application wouldn't even be accepted. Now I have a hard inquiry on my credit report for absolutely no reason.
