My experience with Springleaf was very pleasant. They didn't pressure me into getting extra things that I didn't need and they helped me with all of my financial needs.

The people in the Auburn Office were very helpful and explained all the options to me. They were able to help me with a loan when I really needed it.

I only wanted to split the cost of replacing my fence and do a little painting at my home, without using monies from my account to do so. You guys were gracious in helping me out.

Long story short I paid off my loan with a check in full (over $2000.00) and they closed the account showing I still owed $2000.00 plus and it caused my credit score to go down by 20 points.

Springleaf has helped us out with our money needs when no one else would. They work with us every time to get us what we need and with their help we are getting our credit score higher. Which is what Springleaf does so that with a good credit score we can get to where a bank will help us with a loan at a lower interest rate. Yes, interest is a higher than a bank, but they work with you to get you what you need when you need it and improve your credit score in the process.

Springleaf cares about their customers and always give satisfaction. You will always feel confidence with your decision for choosing Springleaf. You will never be hassled by them. It's their commitment to make you happy and satisfied.

The rep was very polite however she advised me that she would call me back in an hour regarding the status of my application. She never called. I am a customer representative myself and I know how important it is to call a customer back when I tell them that I will follow up. Needless to say I am very disappointed.

Loan helped consolidate bills which was a great help.

I have had an account for many years. The loan process was easy and understandable.

They were very nice & polite. Called set up an appointment. Was in & out in less then 30 minutes with the loan in hand. The office personnel was really friendly. I would recommend them to anyone that let's me know they need a loan. I did not get as much as I was needing but it did help in my emergency.

I usually throw away credit and loan offers that I receive in the mail. I recently fell on a personal hardship which forced me to need money immediately and just so happened to came upon a pre-approval offer from Springleaf. I normally hate loans, but I planned to take out the loan for immediate use with intentions of paying it off within the next 2 months. I applied online with the pre-approval code and instantly received an email that not only was I approved but it was for slightly more than I was pre-approved. I was very quickly contacted by a representative. I will say that everyone I spoke to was very professional and nice. The representatives asked further questions and would contact me once the underwriter reviews my application. Again, I was quickly contacted and it was further confirmed that I was approved for the slightly higher loan. Next step was to send my documents for verification and the loan process can be completed.

It can actually be a joke sometimes. I am not hurting for money and I make about 3k a month which is not too bad. I am a veteran and I get paid to go to school. What they are actually paying is a monthly housing allowance. They are paying me to live here and go to school here. That money is included in my 3k a month but they can't count that as income. So on paper, from my 12/hr job is all I make to them, but really I am making most months over three thousand dollars. Regardless if you can consider military housing allowance as money, and I can prove it goes in my bank the same time every month for almost a year now, "but that is not my income."

I would recommend Springleaf to anyone, it is easy, and the people are friendly and really try to help. They don't make you think that you can get it, but will do what they can to try and make it happen.

I have had several loans with this company going back to 2004 when it was still American General. The people are very knowledgeable and do a great job of getting you what you need. They don't try and sell you things you don't need but do an excellent job of explaining your options. And if you have a problem later down the line they will help you work it out. I am very satisfied with their professionalism.

Someone from higher up got in touch with me spoke to a manager who then contacted me we went over every little thing I had and took his time with me to make sure we had everything then called me back within 5 mins with approval! Honestly would recommend to everyone! Although I'm still not happy with the outcome, I have to say that their Corporate Office responded to me about my comment with respect and tried to help me and apologized for the way their employee spoke to me. I have come to Springleaf 3 times now for a loan and they have always made sure I was taken care of; quickly & efficiently. They always explain everything thoroughly and I'm so thankful that they have been able to help me in my time of need!

Easy to process a loan and friendly folks to deal with. The rate could be better, but no surprises. Cannot ask for more.

I paid my loan amount back several times & still yet the balance owed increased over $1,000 a month! Let them repo my van & the value was well over $4000. Mind I only borrowed approx 2000$ sold van for $350. Less than repo fee of $650! Gutless greed ruined my possibilities of getting to work all for $350 & yet claim I owe over $8000! The loan was paid down to approximately $500 in less than a year! Riddle me this good old fashioned American financial assault! Stay away, they want to suck you in not help you pay off! They do not like that avenue & will do anything to swindle & take your sanity money & mini van so your children suffer even more! Ethics None. Asked for explanations. Reps said unknown or played games stating unable to access certain info when called on carpet. Bankruptcy is all I'm able to do, provided I can get a ride to my attorney! Run.

My wife and I was in serious need of getting a few things paid before winter months came. Springleaf was the only one who was willing to help. They were very easy and nice to deal with. We will use them again if we are ever in need of a loan again.

I would definitely recommend using Springleaf to anyone looking for a reasonable rate. The process from start to finish was super easy. I had applied previously at another institution, which required a tedious in person application, only to find out SEVERAL days later that they couldn't assist me with my financial needs. I applied online at 10 pm with Springleaf & had an approval at 8:06 the following morning! Money in hand that afternoon! Now that's service!

I'm a current customer of Springleaf and just recently moved a few hours away. One day I called to make sure they received my fax to change my bank account info because my payment hasn't been taken out of my account. The guy I spoke with said they didn't receive it so I faxed it again with him on the phone, he got it and updated my info. He also talked me into another small loan, since I was a great customer they would add it on to my existing account. So I'm like "What the heck sure," so he's like you're approved when can you come in and sign so I reiterated that I no longer live in Jacksonville and I live three hours south. He's said "No problem, we'll get you into the closest branch to you to sign the paperwork."

I only agreed to really choose this company to try and get a loan to consolidate my bills based on the fact that I had received numerous letters of my pre-approval, and not to mention Credit Karma's top suggestion. I decided to give it a go and ask for an amount less than what I was pre-approved for. I filled the application out late one night and received a call early the next morning saying that I needed to verify the information. The loan officer was very courteous and nice and said she would call me back after everything was ran. I didn't receive a call and decided to call the next morning myself. She once again looked into my account and of course delivered the news that I was a no go.

The person that take care of us since the first time is so nice and make you feel good and try to help you always with a smile. She make you feel like a family. You feel like you are in a family reunion and always help you with your problem.

We refinanced our auto loan a couple years ago during a financial hardship. We had understood that we were refinancing the remaining principal, ~$2,500. A couple years later, we found we still owe > $6,000. We're really extremely dissatisfied with this company.

Like many others on here, I too was "pre-approved" for a loan of $6,000 but when I applied, they couldn't do anything. My credit wasn't good enough, but I think I make enough for one. And once again, after denied, I continued to receive offers in the mail. Which I consider a slap in the face especially since it was a hard inquiry.

I don't have perfect credit, but the staff was very helpful on getting me a loan that works for me and my budget.

Most loan companies are out to just get your money, but with Springleaf they seem to genuinely care about helping you get the lowest rates possible for your needs! We had to get a loan through them to help us with having our 3rd child and they have been wonderful! All the staff have been exceptional in helping us divide payments when needed and they always let us know if we are able to refinance if need be. Everyone in the office were very helpful. I didn't feel as if they were just trying to give me a loan and rush me out the door. They Sat down with me and went over what they thought would be the best option for me. They didn't want me to take out too much of a loan and fall behind. To me that showed that they cared. I definitely would recommend Springleaf to a family member or friend and definitely would do business with them again.

I needed to sell my car, due to my insurance being so high, and Springleaf was able to help me by releasing my title and loaning me money to paid my insurance. I am now free of that car, and my insurance is being paid. They thank me for being a valuable customer and paying my bill on time.

I have had loans with Springleaf for the last 15 or 20 years and have always gotten good service.

Springleaf is the place to go. They're very friendly. They work fast, don't have you waiting long.. I would tell everyone to give them a try.. You may walk in with a frown but leave with a smile.

Nobody likes getting a loan. Things happen and you just have to do what you must. I turned to Springleaf approximately a year or so ago and they were helpful in getting the amount I needed for debt consolidation. I wasn't behind on any, no late payments but I was ready for them to be paid off. Credit score was not good although that was the point of the credit accounts to increase score. After increasing it by some it still was at a poor rating and they still gave me what I needed. I paid on time every payment and really needed help recently although I still was paying on previous loan.

Like others, I kept getting pre-approved letters in the mail. I was pre-approved for $4,054 or in that range. I applied for $1500. Well, never got a call. I call and finally talk to Shay at the Hermitage, TN office. She wasn't very friendly. Well, I called her again and told there was nothing they could do. We don't have good credit but income is sufficient. Remove me from your pre-approved offer mailings!

I have been dealing with Springleaf Financial in Morganton, NC for the past few years. They have a great staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They make you feel very comfortable while you're there, and each time they have taken care of all of my loan needs in a timely manner. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I have been working with an employee at the Central office by the name of Jamie. When I first applied online I was called immediately and told I was approved for a $3000 loan as soon as they could verify my information. Since then I have been contacted no less than 10 times and asked to verify my information again and again in many different ways. When I called to speak with Jamie I was told she was sick and that no one else could help me. It has been 8 days and I still have not received my loan. When Jamie did return and I was able to speak with her and not her voicemail she was very rude and condescending and even aggressive towards me. I am very dissatisfied with this service and very disillusioned with this company and I will warn anyone I know against using their services. I hope that in the future they train their employees better with customer service skills as they are the first contact with the public.

Was highly recommend by Credit Karma. Applied and was denied for a $3000 loan. I was told that I didn't have much on my credit to obtain a loan. A week later I received mail that I was pre-approved for $5000+. What an insult. Thanks Credit Karma and Springleaf for the hard inquiry! And you don't get an answer as to if you're approved or not on the same day as the site promises.

I received a pre-approval notice in the mail at a time in which additional funds would help me tremendously health wise. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover the treatment that I need to treat my tumors, so I have to pay out of pocket. That was explained to both loan officers that this is a pressing situation. Both Megan (? last name) and Nick ** were extremely helpful in assisting me in getting the required documents. I was told I was approved for a certain amount and enough to pay of 3 small cc bills which would come FedEx and the other funds direct deposited in my checking account.

Been dealing with Springleaf in Louisa for a few years and Linwood is the best. Never gets upset when you have millions of question and is always willing to go the extra mile to help.

Maurice ** the representative at the 35th St. Branch in Chicago was top notch! His 20 years experience shows he thoroughly knew his products! He put me at ease from the moment I stepped in. It has been almost if not more than 20 years since I have done business with this firm (previously it was American General). Since I came back I was blown away with their expansion of so many products! I'm so happy I didn't throw away the mailer but decided to investigate. I knew I wanted to do business with now Springleaf!

I applied for a loan with Springleaf online and I was approved. I got an email that said I had to call my local Springleaf office to speak with a loan officer so I did. The lady there told me I didn't qualify and she was very rude. I feel since I had been approved online then I should have gotten my loan. I do not recommend using Springleaf at all. It's a JOKE!!

I applied online for the loan and was told I would receive a call prominently. And I did. I gave a young man all of my personal information and was very explanatory toward all the questions I was asked. Then was told I would receive a call after 35 minutes. Well it is now well past a business day and still have received no call or email and they ran a hard inquiry on my credit. If I'm giving you my personal information, and you're running a hard inquiry on my credit I expect a phone call in the least, whether approved or denied. Without diligence the company seems like a scam. I do hope they touch base with me as they have all my information. But waiting around for money you wanted to receive isn't fair.

Springleaf did email me back and worked with me to get the loan we needed. They have been very kind with working with us, one bad apple in a group does not mean they are all bad apples. Thank you, Springleaf for giving us a chance.

Due to an unfortunate series of events one of which being unexpected bills, a water leak, and car repairs needed I found myself in need of money. I tried many places before trying Springleaf and no one else would even finish the application because of my credit. The staff at Springleaf were kind and understanding. They went beyond anything I expected to help me get approved. While I knew the interest rate was going to be high I found it's only slightly higher than most credit cards I have seen.

I've never had a problem getting a loan. Everyone was very helpful. When I need anything else Springleaf will be my first choice for my loan needs.

I took a loan and knew that the interest will be high. I happened to look at my statement and noticed that the principal has not dropped much. Out of a $220 payment $217 was interest. How can this be? I contacted a debt management company and they will try and work with them to bring the interest down. How are they different from predatory lenders. I realize I was in need and don't have good credit, but should they do what they want since I don't have other options. I live in Washington state and some suggested I check in with the office of attorney general.

My husband and I applied for a 5,000 dollar loan on Sunday night on their website and and we called Monday afternoon to find out what the status of our loan was. We were told they were still working on it and they would call us first thing Tuesday morning. They didn't. So I called Tuesday afternoon and was told they were still processing it and it would be the next day. They finally did call and told us the most they could give us would be $4100. Not what we applied for but we took it. The waiting on an answer and then not giving us what we applied for was disappointing. They promise fast results but don't deliver, but they were very friendly when we went to close on the paperwork.

I received a letter from Springleaf Financial telling me I was prequalified for $5,250.00. When I went to the website and I entered the code it came up that I was approved at 33.79% and 48 payments of $200.78. It then asked if we wanted another amount. We decided to ask for $6,000.00. I spoke with 2 women, I was told to call back in an hour and I did. I was then told to get a co-signer so my husband was going to take the loan out with me. When he called to give them his financial information they told he we were denied. When my husband called back and inquired how we could be denied if I was prequalified for the original $5,250.00 the woman who answered the phone said, "I'm not too sure." So I can't speak for anyone else but make sure the people you're dealing with at least know their product.

I love that the personnel are so friendly willing to help you. As soon as you walk in the door you get "Welcome to Springleaf. How can we help you today?" and they always have helped me with whatever situation comes up. So if you ever need help go over to Springleaf in Alex City and see Melissa. She is very nice and will help you any way she can.

I am satisfied with my experience with Springleaf! I contacted them right before closing time and I got a call back ten minutes later approved. The next day, I submitted the information that was required to secure my loan and the following day I received my check via UPS! Micheal ** (loan officer) was very helpful and very professional. My loan was under 4,000 with a payment of 125. I have read the other reviews and I'm hoping in the future I don't experience the hardship that a lot of other people have stated. So far, so good! I needed a loan to pay off my dental care balance and also new tires for my car. I received a letter in the mail and decided to go online and apply. My phone rang almost immediately and my representative Carol, was on the line ready to help me with my needs. I was very impressed with her fast and friendly service. When I arrived at the branch in Leesburg, everyone spoke to me when I came in and Carol went right to work processing my loan. I was in and out within minutes and everything was explained to me with no problem understanding the fees and insurance. I would recommend if anyone is needing a loan to go to Springleaf Financial. Like so many others I received a preapproval in the mail saying I was approved for $5,250.00 dollars and to log on to complete my loan which I did only to find out I had to call the office to complete the loan which I did and was asked a lot of questions which I answered every one of them and then was told he would get back to me. After a couple of hours he called to tell me I was not approved after all and that if I wanted a loan I would have to get a cosigner to go on the loan with me. Now after all that no loan and a hard inquiry on my credit report. So much for trying to improve my credit score. So thank you Springleaf.

I have two hard inquiries and I'm pretty sure they said they don't do them. The funny thing is I never got approved (which was fine). I told the rep that there was an application pending already and he lets us just start a new one. NO! He said someone was going to call me back in an hour. No one called me back and I could have got in contact with other people but I was waiting. This definitely unacceptable for a financial institution but I guess this is how they do business. I have a loan with them and I'm update so not sure why I wasn't approved, but believe once it's paid I WILL not be going back there!!! I want hard inquiries removed that is so advertised on their website.

I went to American General Finance at the time several times, and even went back when its name was changed to Springleaf Financial. All loans were paid off, last one being several years ago and the UCC Financial Statement (Lien(s)) were never removed from the records (county). Currently I am in the process of selling my house and my agent (lawyer) brought to my attention that the lien(s) were still in place. How disappointing after being a repeat customer.

They claim to be a lender for people with bad credit. I applied for a loan over a month ago. I was only looking for $1000 to pay off some small bills. I was told by the representative that called me to finish my online application that she was sending my application to the underwriters. At no point did she indicate that I was not approved nor did she say that I would need a co-signer or collateral. I waited a week a never heard from them so I called to check on the status of my loan.

After reading all the great reviews I decided to post one. Unlike everyone else my loan was not approved and I had to call for days without any response from the loan officer. I finally stopped calling and waited on my forwarding mail. However, I did recommend Springleaf for someone else. Every circumstance is different.

I recently wrote a review on this site about how Springleaf wasted my time; I was approved for a loan, submitted most of the required documentation and was told after I had already been approved that the approval had been reversed because my loan term was longer than my estimated dated of separation (I am active duty AF). I was upset that after submitting almost everything that they asked and then doing a hard hit on my credit they had taken the loan away. I was contacted shortly by the company following the post of my first review on this site and they worked with me to get me my requested amount.

I found myself in a financial bind and I decided I wanted to consolidate my bills. Springleaf had been sending me mail for a pre-approved loan for at least six months. I finally went online and applied. I was referred to a local branch and the loan officer told me I would have to put my car up as collateral and it would have to be worth the value of the loan or more. This company is a predatory lender. The exact same tactics and the classic bait and switch. I promptly declined. I didn't get the loan and I have an inquiry on my credit report because they pull your credit. This company is not operating fairly or honestly and please do not trust the pre-approved mail. They actually wanted the title to my car. If that was the case I could have went to a sleazy title pawn office and got the same thing.

I applied for a debt consolidation loan online and called the office the next morning. It took a few calls throughout the day to actually speak to someone, but Maria was super helpful and super patient with me. I originally applied for a $5000 loan, hoping to pay off 4 credit cards and 2 personal loans and bring my monthly payment down from $365 to hopefully half of that. We were only approved for $3200.00 with a monthly payment for $171. I was able to pay off my 4 credit cards and my small loan to end up saving me only $60 a month. All in all, we were able to get the loan started and finished within 2 days, but only because of my husband's work schedule. Maria was so nice and patient and explained everything to me.
