Initially it was great. I don't remember the name of the guy who worked with me but he was very knowledgeable and knew what he was doing all the way up. But then they threw me off on somebody else. We now went down the line a little bit. We had a little more problems.... Aside from that the first time the notary was here, she was two hours late. And she was here twice. The second time was because somehow along the line, all the stuff we signed the first night, we had to sign again a week or two later. Evidently we've forgotten on our end and then the notary forgot as well. But we signed the exact same papers that we signed the first time... I think if you screw up, say you screwed up. Don't blame it on somebody. Other than that, we're really happy. I needed to do what I did, being that I didn't have to come up with any extra money that was the biggest reason to refinance and Nationstar was really good. I now pay less than $240 a month.

The Nationstar mortgage professional during the refinancing process was nice. The guidance received when discussing refinancing options was professional, nice, good. They treated me politely and it was okay.

My mortgage got sold to Nationstar from Bank of America. I wanted a cheaper mortgage rate so I decided to learn about refinancing it. The mortgage professionals from Nationstar were excellent. They did everything they said they were going to do and got it going right and efficiently. They gave me the best deal that they could. So far, I've benefited from a cheaper mortgage payment a month. It's a plus. The only thing I didn't like about it was that I didn't know if it was Nationstar or Greenlight or what the deal was when I refinanced it but every time they said I was going to close and I shouldn't make a payment, I would make a payment and I would have to pay a late fee. I don't know if that's just the way it is. But at the end of the day, it got done and done right.

In April 2013 Nationstar bought the mortgage from Bank of America. I had never heard of Nationstar before and it was a very awkward transition. But I knew what we were doing and I persisted. Anyway, I just refinanced my loan and they insisted on turning off the automatic payment that was with my old loan. And so, it would have been made automatically this month, which did not get paid. That was all figured in the escrow arrangements...

I've been a customer of Nationstar for a while. There were two times that I worked on refinancing. The first time, I felt that the person was very pushy. He didn't answer my questions sufficiently, just wanted to get a deal done, and didn't have my best interest in mind. I felt like I was being rushed through the process and my problems weren't being answered so I didn't go through with that deal.
A few months later, I was then approached again by someone else and he was better. The main guy I was talking to at the loan office was good. But the processor, again, every question I asked I felt like I was a burden and she didn't always have accurate answers for me. It was pretty difficult dealing with her. Although they were able to lower interest rate, I didn't receive much guidance. I also felt like I was being taken advantage of.

Although the reps are friendly and seem to try and be helpful, we are having an awful and stressful experience in our attempt to pay off our mortgage. When we call to resolve the problem, we are unable to speak with the same customer service rep more than once, and each has a different response. Bottomline, we sent in a cashier's check to pay off our mortgage, but Nationstar is not recognizing it. Even though they have deposited our cashier's check and Are collecting interest on it, they are threatening us with foreclosure. A customer service rep told us to ignore the harassment. However we received another foreclosure notice yesterday. This issue is still unresolved, as we are waiting to hear from yet another rep.

I was in the process of refinancing my adjustable rate mortgage to lock it on a fixed rate. This process took well over 7 months with little contact. I had more contact with the mortgage processor. My main goal was to lock in and also not pay closing costs. I was assured many times of the no closing costs, don't worry about it, etc from Mike **. When the papers came one day prior to my closing date I was shocked to see that over $14,000 had been added to the principal amount of my mortgage. After much back and forth with the processor we finally got a hold of my mortgage broker who told me of an error in the records, he then said it could be reduced to approx $4521.
I felt very uneasy about the loan process and the length of time it took and never really getting an answer to my questions. So I backed out of the loan and did not go through with the refinance. I could never get a closing date and then I am told "well the closing is next Wednesday. That's the date and that's it." Was not happy with the company at all...

Bank of America sold this loan to Nationstar several years ago. So I was already a customer of Nationstar when they contacted me about refinancing my loan and my understanding was it was because of my excellent payment history and that this was out there for people in my buying timezone and interest rate timezone that they thought this would work for me. At first, I didn’t understand why they would be wanting to redo my mortgage. But I understand now that there is incentive bought from the original Fannie Mae company for this to be accomplished. It was a settlement thing. Anyway, it took me a while to wrap my head around that, why would they be doing it, but they did it and it’s done. It’s beautiful, it’s $105 less a month, and I’m happy with that.
It was very easy. Everything was well handled through telephone and email communications. I didn’t see anyone other than the actual person (a very nice girl that worked for a local company) who had to witness and verify the signatures on the documents, but it was great. It was painless and that’s important to people who are looking to do something like this. And the timing was right for us, too. We had realized that we weren’t gonna be selling at the price we needed anytime soon. The market for our particular unit isn’t looking great right now, but that could change in a year, who knows. But in the meantime, we’re in a better position to make improvements and do things we need to do.

The representative I worked with was always available and even though I got probably a little obnoxious and challenging to him, he gave me solid answers and would inquire and search out answers if he didn't have any. Mortgage stuff is confusing to the average person. Ultimately even though it didn't seem to line up with what my representative said within three or four months, or five months, after the contract’s all done, everything did line up. Hopefully with continuing to pay the amount that I was paying before pretty close, I would be seeing a quicker dropping in the amount.

So even after it had been approved, and to have them told I had a hard deadline (IRS) I had to close by, the application did not meet the deadline. Everybody was fine, but they just ignored the fact that there were hard deadlines that I had no control over. My monthly load is cheaper, so that's good and I'm glad they contacted me to tell me about HARP to begin with, but then once we began, the process took almost a year. Literally. But I ended up refinancing, thinking that maybe it will be better, but it has not.
Melanie was very nice and gave good guidance when discussing my refinancing options. It’s a lower mortgage but it’s been a pain in the ass because my conveyance was recorded improperly with the wrong initial in the name and it was a big runaround trying to get it fixed. My first fax to Nationstar was on September 30th and they responded by an email in November telling me that they received my fax on November 5th when actually, I made copies of everything, sent a certified mail, tracked it and they received the certified mail on November 3rd. I kept calling and asking them, "Are you guys sure that you have everything?" And they kept saying yes and then two days before we had to close everything, they needed me to fax them all this paperwork and get them all this other information. It was very stressful. That was a horrible experience.
If my friend has to go through Greenlight Loans to purchase a house or refinance or do anything, I would not recommend the process at all. I have already tried my best to let them know my situation with Greenlight Loans. Honestly, it was a horrible experience. What made it worse was the fact that I was pregnant at the moment and they just made my whole situation more stressful. That's why I'm very dissatisfied with them. So far, I'm just glad I don't have to deal with them anymore. And I like the fact that I'm able to pay my bill online. It's nice to know that I'm not giving money away with the PMI. I have no problem so far and Everything is working out great.

We currently had a mortgage with Nationstar and then refinanced because we were trying to get some money out for house repairs.. They were very professional. The only thing that we did not like is that it took about 2 months. We weren't able to get a straight answer for those kinds of calls. The guidance they gave was just satisfactory. It could have been a little bit better. However, once the loan went through, it was approved and was really quick. We really did appreciate that part that it was done. So that made up for that time that they took so long. We've been pretty content with them cause we've had them for a little over a year. It's a good company to deal with.

They seem to hope that their loan customers will give-up trying. Nationstar reminds me of the 1997 movie - The Rainmaker. Nationstar, like the Insurance Co in Rainmaker, go to great ends to avoid helping their customers. The reason is that it saves them money.
I would not recommend Nationstar to my friends or even most of my worst enemies. I would give them - (minus) 5 stars if such a rating was possible.

I didn't agree with the explanation I was given (monies were posted incorrectly) but complied with the request. I have been in-touch with several customer service representatives and two supervisors. There still is an outstanding balance showing on my online statement and I still have not received a paid off mortgage letter nor any further communications from the last supervisor I contacted. Not only have they stolen money from us, but they have been managing the money in our Escrow account in a fraudulent manner and not paying our taxes and insurance like they are supposed to. The customer service representative I last talked to was so rude and difficult that I lost my temper; which is not often. When I first spoke with her I could tell she had an attitude and asked her to please have patience that I wanted to have a good conversation, but unfortunately she insulted me phrase after phrase and was one of the ugliest people I have encountered. I sure hope that conversation was recorded and her boss reviews it. If you work in customer service you CANNOT and SHOULD NOT act inappropriately. Nationstar Mortgage was the holder of our previous loan. They had sent us numerous recommendations that we should take them up on the offer of refinancing. We felt that we had enough equity. And in combination with our financial position and with the threat of the ever-increasing interest rates, we felt that it was the time for us to refinance. I'd say that I enjoyed all or almost all of my interactions with Nathan **, who was the front man, the sales guy. And our loan processing coordinator, the first one, created a complete debacle and it was very unpleasant. And then, they moved us to someone else after she basically screwed up our whole thing and caused a bunch of delays that were totally unnecessary, and the next guy was professional enough and it got done. But I wouldn't recommend refinancing with Nationstar Mortgage. It took a long time and it was very challenging. I don't know if it was just that loan processor didn’t have their stuff together or if its systemic with them, but I wouldn't use them again.

On January 7th I had a discussion with a gentleman regarding our past due payment. He told me I could spread the payment out over months. The amount he said was $24.90 I kept asking if he meant 24 dollars and 90 cents, his response was "yes $24.90." On January 12 $2,490 was taken out of our checking account. This resulted in my husband who was traveling, have to move out of his hotel room because the bank card was declined. I called your company on 1/13 and was told I had to fax a copy of the bank statement and a letter requesting a refund and to call back in 24 hrs to be sure this was received. I called in 24 hrs and was told the document was not uploaded to the system yet. I called again in 30 hrs and told the same thing.
Finally on 1/15 I spoke with a man named Jeffrey who was very compassionate and helpful. He advised me that the best thing to do was not ask for the refund and instead let the money stay so mortgage payment for December was in and the January payment would be less. He was extremely helpful and was the first person who actually helped come to a resolution.
I truly feel the whole issue started because of an English language barrier with the person I first spoke with on January 7th. Also, why would I be told to call back in 24 hrs and then be told I had to wait longer? Why did it take three calls and talking to three different people before someone was able to help me? This entire experience was very concerning to us and caused great anxiety and financial hardship.

Steven and I would like to let you all know how very disappointed we are with Nationstar. Last year we had a very rough year. I called in Dec. and was told to pay up our account, and put in for a modification. Every time we called we never get the same person and every time we call we are told something totally different, even when we call the same day. The day that I called to get the correct amount to pay it current, Steve and I called, every time it was a different amount. Some of the customer service people we talk to are rude and won't give us the time of day. We are paying 12.34 interest, no one should have to pay this, and we can't afford it at all. We put in for a modification, we were approved but the payment never moved or the interest either. How is that modifying? No one can answer that question. I was told when we have normal 40 hour weeks, re-apply.
I explained 3 months out of the year it snows in Maine, which is right now, which you guys DONT take into consideration. I have my brother's 2 kids I am raising - which I guess you'd rather me just let the state take them because they had no one else - plus putting my 2 through college, that's not taken into consideration either. How is a family that is trying to survive in this world, when you don't want to help, but help the ones that don't deserve it, and you probably help them.

I wanted lower rates and a 15-year mortgage instead of 30. I chose Nationstar because it was really easy and convenient since they already had my information. We were with Nationstar before, we refinanced with them. So, it’s really just sort of the same old thing, which is a good thing. Also, their rates were good and when I talked to them, they said the right things. The first guy we talked to was very helpful, understanding of the situation we were in as far as wanting to refinance. He listened to what we had to say as far as what we're looking for and gave good recommendations. I thought he was prompt, courteous, quick to get back with us, and answered our questions. He was very good. On the other hand, the guy who did the closing was good but not quite as good, honestly. When you're in an industry, you tend to have some jargon that you're used to using that I'm not used to. And so, sometimes, he uses those terms, and I couldn't understand what he's talking about and I needed to figure it out. He should have been just a little clearer with that.
It was also clear that they were really trying to get things done quickly, and it felt like he was sort of pushing a little bit instead of just being a little more courteous. Not that he was bad at all. Then again, I was happy with the guidance the first guy gave. He really listened and gave good advice, which is really one of the reasons why I ended up refinancing with Nationstar. I also thought that it was really convenient to be able to find needed documents online. It was pretty cool, really smooth, and quick. So, I liked that. Refinancing with Nationstar was fast and convenient, and they gave good advice and rates.

The initial salesperson was good but it was a little difficult in that we were supposed to get a discount because we've used Nationstar several times. However it took longer before my problem came to underwriting where the Underwriting Department was just beyond ridiculous with what they wanted from us. But that's probably our opinion of what they have to do.
Their guidance was easy and we pay the loan off faster for the same amount of money as basically what we have. I can just say it's the toughest refinancing that we've ever been through and the underwriting scrutiny was unbelievable for people who have extremely high credit and have their original loan through Nationstar. I don't know if that's required by law but it was absolutely ridiculous and I'm a patient person. I actually try to do it earlier and ended up having to back out. I just didn't have time for the scrutiny and I've gotten loans for almost 40 years now with different homes so I can say I really am not happy with the process that we had to go through but I decided to continue and make it happen because there was more to it financially. So at this point I wouldn't recommend them at all just because of how hard the process was. I wouldn't want anybody to go through that.

I also reduced the term, brought it down to 10 years. We talked about what the cost would be to me and the process that we'd go through, so I'd made sense of it.
