Simple to log in - made payment - no trouble. Would recommend to a friend if asked about credit card.

Though Merrick was able to issue me a credit card at my current billing address and I received and used it. However, all of a sudden, my card started declining because of address issues. (Note in first sentence I said I received a card at my current billing address.) No one explained to me that a chip card was being mailed to me and my current card was null and void until about the fourth time. Finally they decided to give me a questionnaire which was oh so ridiculous and I failed the questionnaire about myself because of my MOST POPULAR LAST NAME that I had to go through the rigmarole of verifying myself.

Paid more than my minimum and was told to give copy of my balance of what I had in my bank. Should not matter what I pay, the money was there and it was taking out of my account on 6/15/16.

I am happy to be a customer with Merrick Bank. I love that I received double my credit limit after 6 months of on-time payments. My main suggestion is for the CSR's to always make sure they are answering the question they have been asked. It is not a good feeling to feel like a number or like I am talking to a robot!

Merrick Bank offered me a Card with no annual fee after I went through a divorce and bankruptcy! The only group to offer a card that helped me instead of offering a deal that made me in debt off the bat with fees and surcharges plus outrageous interest rate! I have built my credit back the right way with the help of Merrick Bank, and I am taking time to do this because of their help and I thank them for that!

67 out of 68 on time payments equal a "FAIR" rating! My only late payment was in 2014, the month I had a stroke! At the time of my stroke, I was single. After suffering a brain bleed, a coma, and months of therapy... It took a month before family could decipher who I owed, when and how much. My Merrick account went over due 30 days before my family realized its existence. Thus 67 on time payments out of 68! Merrick refuses to excuse or remove the late payment from my credit report despite medical proof! They refuse to update the status to "good" at 99% on time payments from "fair" at 98.5% of on time payments. All of which are causing me credit woes when credit is needed for medical necessities - Heartless Robots is all I reach!??

Hello, I recently called because I had paid off my entire balance so when I received an email that I owed I believe $6 I called you all to see why. I was told that I get charged a monthly $6 fee. Of course I am not happy about it at all. I asked if I could get that taken off my account and the lady said no I couldn't. This makes me not want to use my card or use it as much as another card I have that doesn't charge me a monthly fee.

Recently, I just noticed they changed my due date and I thought I always paid on time but nope, they been taking late fees from me so many time. For example, my due date was on Jan 30 then they slowly change it to Feb 25, then June 23.

They gave me a second chance with a credit card and now the responsibility is on me. They raised my limit as promised and have been very helpful. Thank you!

Merrick Bank promised to double my credit limit after paying on time for seven months. The bank followed through with its promise! Since I declared bankruptcy 10 years ago and I'm rebuilding my credit history, I'm very appreciative that Merrick Bank has given me the opportunity to show my credit worthiness.

I have been very please with Merrick Bank. They did as promised by increasing my credit limit after 6 on time payments.

I find that even though I mail my payment on time, to get there when due, they seem to deliberately open it the day after it is due, sometimes, just to charge me a late fee. I am really fed up. I may quit them. I saw someone else that had had that problem on a Review for them.

For the time that I have talk to a banker, I have had a great experience. Yes I would recommend to my friends and family.

Both accounts were denied and had I not been watching to see if the accounts were being paid, I would have had late payments. I called Merrick to see why. Did not get a get a very understandable reason. I have since withdrawn these accounts and placed them with another credit company. One account I had placed with Merrick Bank was accepted. So why not the other two.

Merrick Bank's Visa card was a tremendous blessing that allowed me to be able to help someone in family in a very tight situation. Bill payment access, point of service seamless use and its flexible advanced credit offering are amazing!

I called in to ask about a lower APR since I had good payment history and I was told that Merrick Bank does not offer a lower APR. Once I pay this account off I'm closing it. It's no benefit for me.

I love having this card. I can always check my balance and pay online, which is so GREAT! After paying on time, Merrick Bank increased my credit line and that was wonderful. I would recommend them to everyone.

I love Merrick Bank. They was there for me when no one else would give me a second chance. I would advise anyone to give them a try. You may be surprised that you did and when it came time for my seven month review with on time payments I didn't have to balk and ask them for an increase. It was automatically done.

I have not had any bad experiences or issues with this card, however I do not use it much. This is because I have other credit cards that offer me rewards and I choose to use those cards for their valuable benefits. If this was provided with my Merrick credit card I would use it regularly.

I'm grateful that they gave me a chance to re-establish my credit after my bankruptcy. I just wish that once I carried out my payments on time and for more than needed I could get the interest rate lowered to a manageable rate. I would not want to consider a different card because of this. But I do thank them for giving me a chance.

I had some major trouble with credit in the past and was shy about starting a line of credit again with any bank. I knew in order to rebuild my credit I would have to find a decent credit card that could help me build but not charge me ridiculous fees or interests rates. I have had nothing but positive experiences with using Merrick Bank. I was at a point where I was serious about managing my finances in a grown up way, and Merrick Bank supported that. Less than two years of opening an account with them I had rebuilt my credit enough to buy a house! My credit is better now where I have access to higher tiers of credit but I still keep my Merrick account open. I think it is for sentimental reasons.

I've never had problems. I think the only thing I don't love is the monthly fee and the rather high interest rate. Instead of increasing my credit line drop my interest rate.

Merrick Visa - Very pleased with the whole experience.

I paid 450 on a account balance of 550. They are holding my funds for 11 days. They are ripoffs and thieves with the interest rate and the holding of funds. I will be paying this card off and sticking with my Capital One. Thieves.

I've only spoken by phone with representatives on two occasions, but each time I was pleased that 1) I was speaking with someone whose first language was English, therefore there were none of the ridiculous language barrier problems one finds from outsourced employees, 2) the representative was polite, professional and handled the issue with great efficiency. In one instance, my call was to inform the bank of my vacation plans so that they would be aware I might use the card outside my normal area. The second instance was to check on a credit line approval. So these were very simple issues, but if Merrick continues along these lines, I will happily remain a customer for many years to come.

I only use Merrick Bank services for a credit card. I view my statement online and pay online. The website is easy to navigate. I seldom have any problems with it.

Merrick Bank initially gave me a high credit of 1000 dollars. I paid on card on time and used about 800 dollars of it. I was late only once by a few days. I tried to use it again and I couldn't. I called the bank and was told my card was cancelled!!! She could not tell me why. I think that hurt my credit score. It's a shame that while you are trying very hard to build your credit that happens. I would not recommend based on this. Very unwilling staff. Still very confused. That was about 4 years ago. I have since built up my credit, my First Premier and eventually Chase. Don't get this card.

I have nothing but great things to say about Merrick. I pay my statement balance on time every month and they have increased my limit. On-time alerts and easy to navigate online site. I'll stay with Merrick because they have been fair and great to work with. Would recommend to anyone.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS CARD - TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! I signed up for a credit card with Merrick Bank a few years back. I always pay on time and keep my below $50. They are good at increasing my limit but refuse to lower my extremely high APR. What really makes me angry is that I have paid on time or in advance every single month except this one time. I was only a few days late and I had already scheduled a payment. I tried to use the card while traveling and the card had been frozen. I had $38 late and a balance of $76, total available $2800. When I called to straighten things out, the woman I spoke to would not let me get a word in edgewise. She insisted on scolding me for paying late. I had to cut her off by speaking over her in order for her to hear my explanation.

The rates are very high and are taking advantage of people with lower credit scores who are trying to rebuild their credit. My wallet went missing once and was told I needed to pay $50 for a replacement card. Thank goodness I recovered my wallet but this practice is taking advantage of the consumer. On the positive side, I did receive incremental credit line increases over the years.

I had good credit then fell on hard times. Get a credit card that didn't have an APR through the roof, or limit of minuscule proportions, or with hidden fees trying to take advantage of me was difficult and disheartening. I felt as though I was being preyed upon by lenders. Merrick was the only bank that gave me a real chance to build my credit back and I am truly thankful. They have me a fair chance when no one else would. A great starting limit, without a bunch of fees or an absurd APR. They even increase my limit without having to beg and plead. They just seem to do the right thing by their customers and I really do appreciate having my Merrick Bank card I can trust.

Merrick Bank has regularly raised my credit limit. Their website is easy to navigate, and they are very responsive to possible fraud with my account.

I have had no "surprises" in my dealing with Merrick. They seem to be honest brokers.

Honestly, Merrick has given me a second chance at doing better. I really appreciate it. The account access is easy, I get my FICO (plus) and they do review your account like they said they would. It has become one of the best cards I've ever had.

It is the only credit card I have that has a yearly fee. Also there are no rewards associated with it that many other cards offer. I do like the app for monitoring my credit card associated with your bank. It makes it easy to look up and access any information regarding my account.

Because of the interest rate I will most likely pay this off and look for one that has a lower interest rate. Thank you.

I have had a positive experience with Merrick. They gave me a chance to have small credit after our bankruptcy.

There should be more security measures in place for the Merrick Bank credit cards. I was a victim of ID theft fraud when someone used my Merrick Bank credit card number. I don't understand how this happened because I still had my credit card with me. It's a nightmare handling the situation and suffering going through the process to correct everything.

I've had my Merrick Bank credit card for about 8 months. I had below average credit and was beginning to rebuild it when I received an offer from them. With no security deposit they issued a card to me. I have made all my payments on time and within 6 months they have doubled my limit. No annual fee. I recommend Merrick Bank to everyone.

Merrick Bank make the use of its VISA credit card very easy. They believe in my responsibility and they are not all over me. They have a very good designed web page in which is very easy to manage my account and make my payments. I had to call their customer service only once because a dispute matter and I could resolve it in an easy way.

I enjoyed my experience with Merrick. They gave me credit when I needed it. I had several good Christmases and I couldn't have done it without Merrick credit. No other cards have given me a year with no interest for transferred balances. I'm trying to pay off credit cards, so I am using the no interest for a year cards. Also Merrick was my highest interest card, so it got transferred first. Lower the interest rate, and I'll charge again. But I did not cancel it, they are my friends. Thanks.

Not too happy with website because I am unable to access my account online and have to make payments by phone. I just find that a little inconvenient. Other than that I am satisfied. The automated phone system seems to be very accurate with account information.

I have been paying all of my bills on time and early plus have been more the amount. I have had financial difficulty so I am working on credit and I thank this company for offering me a chance by allowing me to have a credit card but I was charged a late fee the other day when in fact I have been paying all of my bills and I really believe that my payment was not late because from what I stated above about paying more, early and on time because of my credit. I would like a refund of the late fee. Thank you.

Really don't like that I get credit increases due to paying over the minimum regularly and on-time, but my interest rate is still sitting at around 29%. I would like to see that go down. Otherwise, I find Merrick a very easy bank to work with. I especially appreciate that they were willing to take a chance, and give me a credit card to rebuild my credit a while back when no one else would.

Merrick Bank is one of the best establishments I have a membership with. Fair, upfront and very reliable. Never had an issue. Even closed my Cap1 account after getting approved with Merrick.

Customer service persons could not reduce my APR, therefore I will be transferring my balance to a company with a lower APR. I have proven my credit worthiness, therefore I know you should have lowered my APR. BYE.

Going to be going into my 8th year of bankruptcy soon! Have been trying to repair my credit and for the most part have been successful. Merrick was kind enough to accept me as an unsecured risk at a detrimental rate of 24.65%. So my card gets minimal use for very small dollar items, since I do not wish to pay the usury rate of 24.65 for a minimum payment. I find it curious that Merrick will raise my limit (to what purpose I have no idea) but will not lower my interest rate! You could a million dollar limit on this card and it wouldn't make a bit of difference. I'll never spend more than $100.00 AT THE VERY MOST in any given rate. Pay in full every month and the bank makes $0.00. Does that make even a little bit of sense? No. If I was at a reasonable (consumer friendly) interest rate I would more than likely spend more and not be so unwilling to make minimum payments (so the bank could make money) if an emergency arose.

I've been banking with Merrick Bank for several years now. I've never had any problems and would refer them to anyone. I did use my credit card once when I lived at **. The company that I charged payment to billed Merrick twice and I had to pay for both charges even though it should have only been billed to my account once. I filed a disputed charge complaint with Merrick Bank against the company but Merrick was unable to retrieve the money back so I did have to pay for the duplicate charges put on my Merrick account.

I make my payments on time. I called to see if I could get a lower interest rate... I was told Merrick does not do that. Very disappointed.

I went on vacation and my credit card was used to hold the deposit. A week had placed and I contacted the resort, they advised they released it and my credit card company had to release it. The resort contacted Merrick with me on the line as well. The representative was very rude to the resort's billing personnel. She was impatient. I was completely embarrassed. I had to apologize to the resort agent because it was my card company. The Merrick rep stated the resort would have to call without me on the line. The resort rep called me back and advised she was hung up on first and then after calling again found someone to assist her. I was completely mortified and never knew your customer service staff was so unprofessional.

Site is easy to maneuver and the credit score is invaluable as I try to get mine back up to its former top scale.

Spoke to a nice CSR, Tiffany. The automated system kept cutting me off when trying to enter my last four of my SSN while trying to activate a new card. She was very pleasant.

I can say that this card has helped me build my credit back after going through bankruptcy. It helps to keep me on track and in case I forget to pay I have set up recurring payments online or I can make a payment by phone. When my credit score goes higher my credit does too.

I recently received a new card in the mail and activated it online with no issues. Very efficient process.

I've sent them registered letters numerous times asking them to close the account for about 6 years. They refuse to do it and it shows as open on my Credit Reports. When I've protested with the Credit Agencies, Merrick reports it open.

After our Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, we had no credit cards and really didn't want any. BUT in our society, we found it was almost a must in some situations. Travel and rental cars to be specific. We had borrowed short term from Amscot and friends during the bankruptcy period, as my income fluctuates greatly. Merrick Bank gave us a dignified way to reestablish credit. A normal card with grace period and rewarding us for responsible use of card. If we do need short term quick cash, the interest rate is way less than Amscot! We do not carry a balance, but the safety net and dignity this card provides is invaluable to us at this time and we will stick with Merrick Bank! Customer service the couple of times I have called is also very good!

This is my first online review I've ever done and I'm doing so because this company deserves this review. I have not always been conscientious with taking care of my credit and therefore, I haven't applied for anything for over 10 years. I was a ghost! When out of the blue, I received a Visa offer from Merrick Bank for an opportunity to help re-establish my credit. At first, I thought I'll try it but I'm sure it's too good to be true. I got online and completed the double your line information and was approved for what they promised... Then I received my card a week later. I have never been happier.

I struggled for many years with addiction. When I got sober four years ago my credit was horrible. Merrick Bank gave me a chance when not many other companies would to start over and rebuild my credit which in turn rebuilt my life. For that opportunity I will be forever grateful. Thank you.

Merrick Bank closed one of my card after noticing fraudulent transactions and issued a new card. The old card is showing up as owing money, which my mortgage company needs a letter from the bank saying that the debt is cleared and my card has been replaced. I have been calling them twice a day for a week now asking them to fax a letter so that I can present it to my bank. One day they are saying I owe $1, the next $0 and not faxing the letter even though they promised to do so. In the meanwhile I cannot close the deal for my mortgage till this is cleared up. Maybe they are racist or prejudicial.

I had an issue with a repair to my vehicle and your dispute department resolved the issue for me and recovered a sum of money for me. Without their help I would have just been out. That kind of service will not be forgotten. I have and would recommend your card to all of my friends. Great experience.

I am very pleased with this bank. They have been great to me. I haven't had any complaints. As long as you keep with your responsibility in paying on time and being good about it. The rewards are great and the customer service is great as well. A good company that keeps its promises.

I was pleased to have been approved for their card at a time when my credit score was very low. They initially approved me for $700 and although I had a rough start because I lost my job in the process, I eventually got all my payments in on time and now make it my business to never send a late payment. It took a long time for me to get an increase, but 6 months ago I went up to $900, then recently it was increased again to $1100. I was very pleased because it was a nice surprise! Overall, Merrick did not give up on me. I also liked that they did not charge me a fee for the increase like the Applied Bank Credit Card I own that charged me like $100 dollars if I accept the increase. Now I can see my credit score every time I log in which I love! The only downside is the crazy high interest rates which I hope get lowered. For now, I will stick with my Merrick card.

After about 8 months I couldn't be more pleased with my credit card experience. It is a breeze to use and with online accessibility it's very easy to view my account at any time.

Merrick was true to their word that they would increase my credit line in 6 months with timely payments.

I have always paid my bill on time and have had no issues with Merrick Bank Visa. They have raised my credit limit a number of times. I would recommend them to a friend.

They have been a wonderful credit card company. They send me emails when my payment is coming due. They said that when I had paid on time for six months, they would up my credit limit and they did. They keep their word. I love these guys.

I was late in paying my bill due to my computer crashing. I was not able to access the internet, therefore, I could not recall my due date. The Rep was very helpful in giving me extra time to pay my bill to keep my account current.

I applied for the card to have a Visa card. Getting approved, receiving the card and registering the card was easy. I have not had the opportunity to use the card, so all is well.

I expected that after a year of paying off balances in full someone would have offered a higher credit limit. As it is many purchase are made with a different card which has provided higher buying amount. It is a MasterCard and I would like my visa to be of equal limits for larger expenditures that require higher limits. I have no intention of using credit cards except as a bridge within the month of the expenditure because I don't want to pay the high credit charges imposed by the bank. Thanks for asking.

I have had no negative experiences with Merrick and I would recommend their services to others. Only reason for not 5 stars... their website is hard to navigate. Not impossible, just time consuming for me to find what I need quickly.

I was told in the beginning that after seven months of on time payments that my credit limit would double. They were true to their word. I did not even need to request the limit raise. It was done automatically.

I bought a dress. It was the wrong color, wrong size, and the material was stiff so it didn't flow. It was a full length dress so it looked like a tent. I returned the Dress to the Company I bought it from. It cost me 50.00 to return it. I sent all the information to Merrick Bank including the receipt and form I got from the post office. They still have not credited my account and seemed to be more concerned with the company I bought the dress from than they I with me... Their customer. As of now I have no dress, no money and am also out an additional 50.00 for postage. I have never seen a credit card company make such an issue over a return and dispute issue. They have no regard for their customer.

Easy access and security questions every time is good practice to protect consumer especially now that identity theft can easily access most of the information we put in any gadget we used. Hopefully this practice will protect us more from those thief.
