I think it is ridiculous to charge a $3 fee every month, which forces me to make sure I pay this bill every month even though I do not use my credit card. Either charge an annual fee or allow me pay more than $3, so that I have a credit on my account to cover future months. It's like you do this so that you can trick your customers into missing a payment and then you can charge them a late fee. Terrible. Ready to cancel my account!

I submitted a dispute to Merrick. I was not given all the information I needed in order for the dispute to move forward when I initially called. I called back a second time to check the dispute status. Only then was I told I needed more information.

I fell on hard times. Was making payments, but had late fees. That's was killing me. So I called, they said I pay $207 and they would get rid of late fees. So I set the payment up. I got a letter in the mail from my bank saying the payment was returned because the agent I talked to put the money to be taken out of the wrong account. I have two accounts on file. I know I told her what account to take the payment out of and she picked the wrong one. So I called and told them what account to take the payment out of and they did went through no problem.
I was also told by the agent at the time I made this payment out of the right account I would still get my fees returned not a problem and it would be within 24 to 48 hours. Checked 24-48 hours later not returned. Called in again and talked to another agent whom again said my late fees would definitely be returned it would take 24-48 hours. 48 hours later, checked, nope. So called in again, this time wanted to talk to a supervisor, said would be put on hold. Agent came back, said no supervisor available, sent me to a voicemail, so on. Would call me back. Nope didn't hear from one. Called again, same exact thing. Was told supervisor wasn't available and was sent to voicemail to leave a message. Again didn't hear back. Called again, of course supervisor not available, said I would keep calling and calling until I spoke with one.
Finally spoke with one. She said my account was reviewed and fees would not be returned because my payment was returned. I said, "But I paid the payment as soon as I found out and it went through and was told by multiple agents I would have all late fees returned." She basically told me that's not what I was told, of course I said I know what I was told, and this wouldn't have happened in the first place if the very first agent I talked to would not have picked the wrong account to make the payment on.
She then told I had until the 19th to clear the payment up when it was returned I said my payment was paid on the 18th, then paused and kinda stumbled over her words because she knew I caught her. Then she told me to hold. She came back on and said my fees were not going to be returned I asked why after what she just told me. She said she reviewed the phone call herself and originally it was not the wrong account number and I verified the account number. I asked "I want to hear the recording." She said "no we can't do that." "Then how do I know you're not lying and you just don't want to admit to your mistakes and you totally just told me something totally different before putting me on hold."
She said all she can do is return two late fees that's it. I was so mad by this time I was telling her whatever and cussing at her and saying this is ridiculous. Finally said whatever. This is the worst credit card I have ever had and I have three others. So I still have this big Bill after already paying $207 and was told multiple times I would have all late fees returned. All the agents were pretty much rude especially the girls I talked to. They were so judgmental in their voice it's not even funny. They have no idea what has been going in in my life. I wish there was a corporate number but it's the regular customer service number. They totally screw you over. And don't want to admit when they are wrong and will do anything to cover up their mistakes. If you are thinking about getting the card don't do it. I wish I never had.

Take a deep breath before I go in on this wretched ass bank. These rip-off consumer snake ass idiots are so damn disgusting to the point they should not be in business. I have caught these idiots in so many lies until I honestly think they all are regular riders on that short yellow school bus. If you are trying to pay off their high interest visa card, they will find some grimy way to get extra money out of you with their famous "late payment" scheme. I have proven every single time that my payment was not late and that their lazy workers continue on processing the payment late to make it late not that it was received late.
If my payment is due on 23rd of each month and I mailed the payment on the 17th, it supposedly did not reach them until the 24th and processed on the 25th. However when I mail the payment on a Friday, the payment will reach them in time to process on a Sunday. How can this be if it take one month 3-4 days and in any month they choose to make it late it takes 10 or more days. I have told their supervisors that the Federal and State Attorneys General offices will be notified of their illegal practices because there are other consumers with the same issues as mine. We as consumers do have a platform against this illegal practice from these stealing banks. So everyone charged with felonious late charges contact those offices and your attorney because we all cannot be wrong. Everyone have a Happy Mother's Day despite of this stealing bank.

A few years ago my wife passed from Pancreatic cancer and I have been raising 2 kids by myself ever since. Due to medical bills and the general hardship of the situation my credit dropped significantly. I decided to try and use the Merrick Bank card to help rebuild my credit. In theory you pay on time for 6 months and they raise your limit. I paid on time every month but when it came time for the 6th their archaic website wasn't working for 4 days right as my payment came due. I called for assistance and they said they were also experiencing technical issues and to keep trying. In the end I paid before the late date but they posted one day late. I tried to get them to leave the late mark since it was due to their technical difficulties but they refused.
The damage: because of the one day, one time late mark which was their fault my interest shot up above 30%. They did not raise my credit limit and they reported the late payment to all three credit bureaus. I am now worse off. I suspect the website technical issues were staged to trip people. Watch out - They are a textbook financial predator. THIS IS A TRAP!

I was one of the account holders with Merrick Bank Visa card (Platinum) for some time, never missed payment, used their card responsibly. I was out of states for several months, after coming back today I called Merrick bank to get up to date APR info and increased line, and I was surprised to hear that they closed my account. I asked why it was closed. They stated that there was no activity and that is closed. Some of you may not know when this kind of account closing happens that affects your credit big time. So be careful dealing with this bank. THIS BANK WILL MESS YOUR CREDIT. THINK TWICE BEFORE APPLYING CARD WITH THIS BANK. I am not worried their damn card but I am worried about my credit.
This bank is only here to rip you off with higher interest rates, when you don't use their card they will close your account and send to 3 major credit bureau to mess your credit. ABSOLUTELY BAD SERVICE, I was told they can't reopen my account at any cost. I have recorded all the conversation that I had with their rep, and am going to consult with my attorney to see if I can stop them messing my credit. So be careful with so called MERRICK BANK credit card. They will MESS UP YOUR CREDIT IF YOU DON'T USE THEIR CARD TO PAY HIGH APR.

I've been with Merrick about two years. I recently called to try and get a lower interest rate. They said they never negotiate interest rates and if I wish to close the account that was okay. They did absolutely nothing to try and keep me as a cardholder.

Because I didn't use my credit card for sometime MERRICK sent me a letter saying they were reducing the credit limit and also in the next thirty days the account would be closed. So Merrick Bank Credit Card Services is penalizing me, a person who has worked hard to re-establish credit and has done a good job at it, for not using credit to their standards. I wanted to keep that card to use in case of an emergency but instead, because I had a zero balance and hadn't used, MERRICK reduced the credit amount and then at the same time in the same letter they indicated the closing of the account in 30 days.
Interestingly enough, I had just used the card a few days ago and that is what made receiving the letter so much worst. I called and spoke with customer service who said it was nothing they could do because I hadn't used my card, so at that point I told her I don't want to wait 30 days for them to close my account, I want to close it immediately. I paid off the balance I had just charged a few days earlier and advised the customer service person how completely unfair, rude and unethical that practice is to reduce someone's credit limit and close their account NOT BECAUSE OF THEIR CREDIT but because they didn't use the credit or weren't indebted to Merrick Bank. TERRIBLE!

Merrick Bank provides professional, friendly, informative, uncomplicated, quality, and helpful service that help me as I pursue my professional and family life. If I need help with finances I can go to their website and find answers to make my life easier. The website is easy to access and navigate through, plus, if I have questions about my account I get fast and quality help. I can also help my son who is a veteran as he pursues school and a career in another state. Thanks to my Merrick Bank card and its easy access. I would refer my friends and family to Merrick Bank. I went through a divorce in a long term marriage where we owned a business. I did not get the business, so had to be released from any liability through BKCY. My credit was shot! Merrick was the only bank that would give me a credit card. I started with a $200 limit, but the goal was to prove I was financially responsible. No hidden fees or startup fees. I paid on time every month, paying off the balance. I'm now at a $2000 limit and have been encouraged along the way with every increase, which matches increases in my credit score, which is now, three years later, is in the excellent range. Being a financially responsible woman, it was hard to suddenly be seen as a poor credit risk, but Merrick helped me reestablish credit. Thankful!

I've had nothing but a pleasant experience with Merrick Bank. Paying my bill is very simple using their website period. They've always been very fair about raising my credit limit regularly. I don't really know what else I can say except they're very good company.

Merrick Bank has a good card, reasonable interest rates (although I don't carry a balance). I only have one complaint, their website is very dated feeling, it's like a site one would have used in the late 90's or early 2000's. I would like to point out that the site does have all the features necessary to view statements, transactions, and complete payments, it's just antiquated feeling. I think an upgrade would be beneficial to both the bank and the consumer, also, offering 2 factor authentication would provide another layer of security.

Merrick has been an outstanding credit card. I have been rewarded for paying on time and they are a secure card. I have been able to travel with security and know that my card is protected using the chip technology.

So far everything is great. But I downloaded the app for my iPhone. And after about a week it stopped working. I called and the man said it was being worked on. And still it do not work on my iPhone. I have to log into the full site to view my account.

About a year ago, I opened a credit card account with Merrick Bank. The application process was easy, and my experience using my account and accessing it online and via the app has been awesome. After six months or so, I have already received my first credit limit increase. I would highly recommend Merrick Bank to others!

Has been a great asset in rebuilding my credit. Couldn't get approved for other cards so "settled" with Merrick. After less than a year my credit line has increased quite a few times and each time has also raised my credit score. Interest is competitive with other cards at my current score.

Merrick was one of the first institutions to offer me credit as I rebuilt my credit. Their online tools are great for setting up payments and they offer great credit alert features. They also care about your maintaining good credit by offering your credit score for free. As my credit has gotten better Merrick has rewarded me with higher credit limits without a request. Great credit services. Everything you could ask for.

Of the few times I have needed to call to the office I have been greeted by a friendly and informative person that is actually able to speak English. I have never had a problem left unresolved nor have I finished any communication with them that I hung up angrily. These guys are just that awesome.

Shortly after receiving my replacement credit card, I activated the card, peeled the phone number off and started using it. A few weeks later I noticed that a lot of charges I had made were now being rejected (charitable contributions). I made about 50 of them. When I tried calling and explaining what was occurring, I was brushed off with a quick, "You failed to activate the card". No, that is not true, I did activate it and made an immediate purchase and it worked. Why now is everyone saying I haven't activated the card.
I escalated the matter two levels and was told I would get a call back in 4 to 5 days. It never happened. Finally I went and reactivated the card again. No thanks to Merrick Bank. I had over 50 charges that were being processed when Merrick decided to start kicking them back. I have had to re-process all of the charges again. All I get out of this is that Merrick Bank wants to assume no responsibility for problems they create, and will not listen to their customers when they call. Under these circumstances I will not recommend Merrick Bank to any of my colleagues and I'm thinking about terminating my relationship with Merrick Bank.

Merrick Bank has been good to me. I appreciate that they were able to give me a credit card despite the lower credit score. As I paid timely, my credit limit also increased automatically. Now that my credit score has risen significantly, I am considering closing this account. These are the reasons why: 1) the annual fee of $60, 2) the monthly fee of $5, 3) the time it takes to process my payment to the card that is over $500. Another reason which is not a make it or break it reason is that the website is not up to par with other banks. Even a credit union has better graphics and security measures than Merrick Bank over the internet. Nonetheless, Merrick has been there for me when extra fund was needed and they've never charged wrongfully or reported anything incorrectly to the credit bureaus.

Since I applied for the card in December to help build my credit and buy Christmas gifts according to them I've only paid on time once. This is BS! I always send my payment a week before it's due and pay more than required. I am extremely upset about this. No way it takes more than 7 days for them to get the payment! I'm sick of being robbed and taken advantage of. Now I'm gonna have to take out a loan to pay them off and be done completely. I can't believe all the great reviews I read. Just my luck I guess! If I could give it 0 stars I would. With all the banking laws, I don't know how Merrick skims through with their illegitimate practices. On 3 separate occasions I had to call to ask them to post my payments that I made. Not only did they not post my payments that were made 1-2 weeks in advance, but they charged me a late fee. After this happened twice I decided to pay off the card and stop doing business with this company. I did a balance transfer in the total amount, so that I could close my account and what happened?
You guessed it. They never posted it. Proceeded to charge me a late fee. Meanwhile I have the transaction posted on the credit card I transferred to, a week prior to my payment being due. I can't see that a bank is that irresponsible to "lose" payments or information, so to me this is a scam. If you pay your bill on time you should not have to harass a company to post your payment or argue about late charges. Seems they do this to see if they can get away with it. Worst credit card company EVER!

I haven't had any "real" issues with Merrick at all. Dealing with Merrick has been pretty smooth. I think perhaps their app may need a bit of revision in regards to the overall UI but it works and functional.

I am reestablishing my credit, and have gotten my credit score up to the mid 600s. I've never had a late payment and I usually pay more than the minimum payment. I called to negotiate a better interest rate, and I was told that they don't do that. As soon as this account is paid in full, I will be closing this, and finding a card with a better interest rate.

I have not had any dealings as yet with Customer Service, but so far the card has delivered on its advertised promises. My credit limit was increased automatically, and the minimum monthly payment is more than reasonable. My only issue is the annual fee.

Merrick is a good starter card. Interest rate is kinda high, which is why I rated lower. Which being a starter card you can understand, however after some on time payments they should lower it. As you've proved yourself, as well as increasing the credit lines.

My experience with Merrick has been wonderful, I wasn't sure the ad and offer of their invitation to apply would turn out true. The INVITATION to apply said if approved and you made the first 6 payment on time they would double your credit line. For me that was going from 600.00 to 1200.00 dollars. After making 6 payments on time I got a email saying my credit line was increase to 1200.00. They stick to their word. That a great thing today.

What's disturbing is when I call to dispute a charge, I provide all the necessary details as to why I'm disputing a particular charge, then receive a letter in the mail requesting the same information. Discover and State Farm Visa doesn't require this process. If Merrick could not have customers send in correspondence as to the same information I provided to the previous customer service agent, that would be great.

Overall my experience with Merrick Bank is good. Areas that they could improve upon are creating a better mobile app, offering some type of rewards program or cash back incentive, and removing the annual fee. Interest rates seem ok for the type of card that it is, but could be reduced over time.

My credit report reflects updated information from my card activity at least every 2-3 months, which has really helped me build my credit report. The app is easy to use for seeing activity and making payments. My payments apply to my account within a day or two, and I get email updates that remind me when my statement is ready so I'm never late making my payments. I love this card!

I like Merrick Bank online account services for the ability to search transactions which give me a specific view of my charging activity. I also like, very much, the simple straightforward payment process as well as being able to look at payment history to confirm payments and for budgeting purposes. One very nice feature is the "Statement Summary." This is a GREAT overview of my account profile, activities, interest charges, etc. Thank you Merrick Bank for being a customer oriented financial service!

I have been making over the minimum payments on my Merrick Bank Credit Card out of Salt Lake City Utah. I was told due date was 30th of each month. I never really looked at date on Statement. I always make payment on automated telephone line and my minimum payments is usually 35.00 to $37.00 Dollars. I was late in February 2017 I made payment on the 27th 2017. On March Statement 2017 reads past due amount $37.00 Dollars, Minimum pmt. 114.00 payment Due 3/18/17. I looked at the due date is supposed to be on 20th so did they change it on me and not tell me. I thought I was making early payments. And at that nothing on statement does not say anything about a late fee.
I customer service and I am asking agent why minimum payment is higher for March. I am then put on a long hold in which I do not appreciate, agents comes back and confuses more so I ask for Supervisor. Then I am put on a long hold again, supervisor comes on and tells me I have been paying late since December 2016 and they charge for one day late. I compare them to Wells Fargo give 5-6 day leeway and then they are lenient with late fee and not charge me. The supervisor says, "What does that had to do with it?" I say, "Wells Fargo been in business over 100 years and they have better policy than Merrick Bank." So they change my due date to charge me late fees so I give a unfavorable revenue on that issue.

I was having a financial hardship, and Merrick agreed to put me on their Hardship Program. After making my agreed upon payments on time for 2 months, I did not receive my bill. I called Customer Service and stated I had not received my bill, and they informed my account had been Charged Off!! I was furious and I want to let people know not to trust them when they agree to a payment plan with you. They told me that after making my agreed upon payments, for 3 months, that my credit report would show my account as current, although the account was closed for further purchases. Lying to the customers is very unfair!!! I kept my end of the bargain but they failed to keep theirs!!!

Back on October the 3rd Merrick Bank put a $2.77 paperless fee on my account. I had no knowledge of this fee. They reported late to the credit bureau and it drop my 40 points. I contact them and they refuse to remove it. So now I can't get a mortgage. Bad company and customer service.

I called in because my card had been compromised. The issue has been resolved, however, I asked the rep when I called if there was a mechanism in place where it detect a purchase on the same day but different state it should of flagged it. I had to call.

I've spent the past 3+ years cleaning up my credit, no lawyers, no debt consolidation firms... just me. I received a pre-approval letter from Merrick Bank. I usually throw them away, but the opportunity to double my credit limit in only 6 months (with no late payments and paying at least your minimum balance). So I took a chance. I'm not so far along where I have been receiving low interest rates yet, but more people are trusting me with unsecured cards so I'm happy! I've had to call Merrick Bank quite a few times, including a charge dispute. I've always received very good customer service! One associate took the time to walk me through specifics as far as what information I'd need to support my dispute claim. This card is one I plan to keep. Especially since I could be eligible for another increase in a year!

Great experience. Merrick Bank has been an important part to rebuild my credit after divorce. The website is easy to use and I appreciate the GoScore so that I can keep track of my progress. My credit limit has been increased fairly and I have had no problems or issues working with this bank.

After going through bankruptcy I swear off credit cards for a couple years. I didn't want to do it Capital One because I had a bad experience a few years ago with their customer service. Before applying for my Merrick Account I checked out their website and how easy it would be to pay online. It is very very straightforward and they offered me free credit checking software. I am very happy with this bank.

The only improvement I'd like to see is that my transactions show up quicker on my mobile account app. Overall though I am very happy with my experience with Merrick Bank and have recommended you to friends. I think Merrick Bank credit cards are great. I have had for over 5 years now. I just would like larger credit lines increases and more often. I have never had a late payment since I have had the card. Over 10 days.

It was most impressive that Merrick gradually added to my credit limit without my specifically requesting an increase and without requiring application or credit checks which could affect my credit score. The Merrick card I maintain in my wallet is a reminder to me that keeping a good relationship with a quality lender is worth its weight in gold.

I would highly recommend anyone to obtain a credit card with Merrick Bank. Not only did they issue a card when I was trying to improve my credit score, they increased the limit often. I posted a payment to my non-secured Merrick Bank Visa card on 2/21. The amount was debited from my bank account the following day. As of 2/24, the payment amount is still not shown as available credit. I called customer service and the agent claimed the funds would not be available until the 27th. He explained that the amount was put on hold because it was higher than my normal payment amount and that they needed to make sure the funds were available. I replied that if the funds were not available, they would not have been debited two days ago.
I asked him to remove the hold since the payment was already debited from my bank account and he responded that he could not do that. The only way I could have them removed the hold was with proof from my bank that the funds were debited. He stated that payments can be put hold hold for 5 to 11 days. It seems like a very fraudulent business practice, especially if it isn't written in their cardholder agreement nor website. Very suspicious!

Merrick Bank's credit card that I have is of great service to me. I use it regularly to cover expenses on my daily commute to work. I have personally never had any issues with the purchases I've made. I also like the quick and easy app. It lets me make payments easily and they post payments fast. Also gives fair credit increases!

Not happy with Merrick Bank. I had a car repair shop swindling us for $3000. I disputed with you and provided extensive documentation. Your Manager was rude to my husband and you did not send my case to arbitration, as contract I signed with you requires. My Capital One and Fidelity Investments Visa refunded me the money he charged to those accounts. This is the reason why I try to no longer use this credit card to avoid being ripped again. Not a trustworthy Bank.

Good card. I have been treated fairly and have achieved a CLI. Paying your bill online is easy and free and I haven't had a single issue with this card. I have never had a reason to call the customer service line, so I cannot rate the customer service experience.

I found several charges that I did not make. They were rude initially and then said they would cancel my card, send a new one, and submit a dispute. I asked them if I needed to contact the merchant. They said, no, they would take care of it and yet the charges have not been removed. This is ridiculous. Other credit card companies would remove them right away or at least within the billing cycle, but this has not happened. This is very poor customer service. I understand that I had issues with my credit but it doesn't mean that I should be treated like this. Bad business, Merrick Bank. If it would not negatively impact my credit, I would close this account.

This bank gave me a credit card when I had not so good credit. Thankful for that but after 2 years of on time payments and they continued to increase my credit limit when I asked them not to. I called to ask for a reduced APR interest rate as I always paid my bill on time. They declined me my request. I will be closing my account. Interest rate of 28%. Outrageous!

The one time, I had to contact customer service, my issue was handled promptly and efficiently and all of my questions were answered. Any information I have needed I have been able to find on the Merrick Bank website. I have no problem with the assistance I received. My problem was with your internet site. You only allow two choices for monthly payment - minimum or account balance. You should be able to pay something between the two without going thru the changes you have to - first cancelling the min then entering the amount you want to pay. Your internet site is not that clear for us old-timers who are not computer savvy.

I have been mostly satisfied with my dealings with Merrick Bank. I love the online banking. I was happy with the credit increase. The reason I will be cancelling my card is that when I called to have my annual fee waived I was told that it could not be done. That is very disappointing. I understand when I applied for the card my credit was questionable. But since I have had it I believe I have proven that I am not such a high risk.

Very poor dispute policy and online statements -- After finding two fraudulent charges on my account I called to dispute them. They canceled my card and sent me a new one but will only tell me that disputes take 30 to 60 days to appear on my account. There are no updates and my online statement shows nothing in dispute after two weeks. I have never had a bank not take immediate action and at least show items that are in dispute. In addition, the online statement shows no new charges yet my balance keeps going up without explanation. Call to Customer Service are of no help. Very bad business!

I would have complete peace of mind recommending Merrick Bank to any friend of mine. The credit offer extended to me (I am trying to repair a credit rating that suffered a major setback in the past ten years) was a credit limit of $1,400 that would double to $2,800 if I made all my payments on time for ten billing cycles. They were true to their word and my "on-time" payment history has been useful in helping my credit scores go over 700 for the first time in my life.
Additionally, by using the easily downloadable Merrick Bank app on my I-phone, I can make my timely payments from my BofA account to Merrick Bank in about sixty seconds or less. My BofA wouldn't even give me a credit card of any kind except an embarrassing debit card that can only access my own money that I have in my account at the time. So, I didn't have any monies available to me for emergencies until the people at Merrick Bank extended their offer to me through an e-mail one day almost a year ago. Thanks Merrick.

I have several credit cards but Merrick bank has by far exceeded the rest. The things that stand out the most is: posting time. I have some cards that will only let me pay the bill on the due date and another that doesn't post to my account for 5 days. Merrick is far better than the others and I would refer them to others. Called in regards to a hack of another credit card to "Freeze" this account for a 2-week span to allow "Clearing of any possible charges" that might be pending, not legitimate of my purchases. Overall, my experience has been "fine." Not great, not outstanding, not exceptional. You provide a card, I use it occasionally. The billing seems accurate. That's about it. Your website is really fairly rudimentary and seems to be a decade behind your competitors. For example, I can't see pending transactions on my account, only charges that have been actually posted. I don't use your card when I travel out of the country because you have a foreign transaction fee, and I have another card that doesn't, so they win. I have other cards that give me between 1% and 2% cash back on purchases. You don't. Once again, they win.
I have your card because it helps my credit rating a bit to have it. But I use it very little, because I have other cards that give me much more of an incentive to use them. So that's why I give you a "3" rating and say you're "fine" -- you're not doing anything wrong, but you aren't doing much to earn my business. I hope my feedback is helpful to you.

I have had my Merrick account for a few months. I got a call yesterday stating that there may have been fraudulent charges on my account. After talking about this with the representative, I discovered that the charges were in fact, fraudulent. They canceled my card and now they are freezing my account. I made one simple request. I wanted a statement so I could investigate the charges on my account. The website doesn't show pending charges. The rep was annoyed that I made this request. He literally stated, "Sir, I'm telling you what the charges are." Understandably, I want to see the charges for myself. I requested they mail me a statement of some kind showing all the charges on the account since the last time the horrible out of date website posted a charge. He acted as though I had asked for the moon and I was told I could not get that. After going back and forth with this guy for 10 minutes about why I wanted it, I decided to end the call.
This morning I tried to log in and now the account is locked. I can't see anything. I just made a $400 payment but I don't know where that money went. When I called the bank, they stated that it would be locked pending the outcome of the fraud investigation. So now I have to access to my account and can't see the activity on my account. Very shady. I will close this account as soon as I can. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. :-(

Ok we have been continuously charged with fees. The last one was a late fee $38 which would be ok if my payment was late but it was due on Jan 11th. It was paid on January 11 and then a few days later I was charged the late fee.

Paid my bill off in full... got a $4 service fee. When calling I asked about the fee, and about reducing the interest rate as I've been a card holder for almost 2 years and have never been late. The response from them was paper fee... although there was no bill for them to send out a paper fee for. And they said if I didn't want to pay the interest rate they could close my account. Asked them "you would rather close a good customer account than reduce the interest?" They responded yes.

New customer here. Visa Platinum (not a secured card). I was getting close to my limit so I made a $350 payment online. After 4 business days the money had been taken out of my bank account, the payment had been posted on my card, the balance on the card reflected my payment but I'm showing $0.00 Available credit. I called customer service (since they have no way of contacting them online) and was told that there was a hold and the funds wouldn't be available for two more days, with no reason given. Sorry, but this is unacceptable. And honestly it's really as simple as that. I didn't go over my limit, didn't make any weird out of county purchases, I just made a payment prior to the actual due date because I was getting close to my limit. And for that, for being responsible, I'm punished with hold on the funds that I sent them. Well off to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

I opened an acct. (secured) with these yahoos 3 yrs ago, used the card every month, made PERFECT payments for 3 yrs straight. Never once did they ever offer me a thing, no appreciation at all. I closed the acct. owing them $3.00, so they wanted to charge me an additional $15.00 to close my acct. and then another $3.00 out of my secured $200.00 I opened it with. I had a problem with a vendor where I bought something and it was not how it was described and the company refuse to take it back because they have a no return policy. I contacted Merrick Customer service and the rep was nasty. I am not sure if she could have helped me but she was rude and nasty. It was not worth fighting. I have been working with CapitalOne for years and never had a rude rep.

Very difficult to get resolution on my balance outstanding for disputed items on my stolen card since Thanksgiving. I call their customer help line and they don't respond. I am very unhappy as a consumer that it takes too long especially for me to be responsible for over $1000 worth of charges that I have to make payments on even though it's not my charges.

All of my interaction has been thru the bank's website. This website is very old fashioned and not easy to use. After the site failed to credit a payment I have made all payments to Merrick thru another bank (one with a working website). I also have not increased my use of Merrick as I had originally anticipated. The site has also periodically refused me entry due to "insecure browser". My browsers are the latest and totally updated versions of Chrome and MS Edge and are in no way insecure. When this first happened, probably about a year ago, I called Merrick's customer service and received no satisfaction. This message reappeared last month, once again preventing me from viewing my account. As I use my Merrick card sparingly, I was able to make the proper payment "blind" and no harm was done. In short, the website is badly outdated and not fit for purpose.

I was notified back in early November that my card had be used in fraudulent activity. Which was a great preemptive move. You cancelled my original card and reissued a new card. However, we discover a fraudulent charge of $159 from Zoro Tolls was on my account. I have tried almost a dozen times to get this resolved and removed from my account. Each time it's some other issue. It was to be concluded within 30 days. That time came and went. Then it was two business cycles which has now come and gone. I still haven't gotten this resolved. I am more than happy with my association with Merrick Bank. There have been no problems at all. After 6 mos of on-time payments they doubled my credit limit without my requesting an increase. My payments have been posted promptly. When my dog chewed the card, I reported it to Merrick and received a new card within 5 days, very good customer service.

My Merrick Bank credit card was easy to get a few years ago when my credit wasn't so good (because of inability to pay student loan payments), and it helped build my credit to the good rating that it is now. The problem is that they eventually force you to pay a monthly fee to keep the card. I have other credit cards where you pay the yearly fee, but for a good reason - perks. AMEX has points you can earn, or airline cards give you airline perks; Merrick bank has nothing. I would close my account but that would hurt my age of credit which would also hurt my credit score. So I am forced to pay $70+ per year for a worthless card.

Great card to have when starting to get your credit back on track. They raise your credit line when they think you have earned it and not just give you any credit line which can hurt you. I would recommend this card to family and friends.

Merrick Bank has been absolutely marvelous in any and all of our dealings with them (my wife has a separate account with them). We have found them to be fair, courteous and patient with us each and every time we have had to phone them for assistance or advice. Thank goodness that we have not had to contact them requesting an extension for a monthly payment or similar problem but we trust that they would handle that problem and solution with the same care and concern they have provided to us thus far in our relationship.

I only have a credit card with Merrick currently and don't have any issues with that. In fact I love that they review my account and will raise my credit limit occasionally. However, Merrick Bank needs to seriously update their mobile app!! If they want to keep their customers happy, they should realize that keeping their technical up to date is a great way to accomplish that. The app has not worked for me in several months and it's irritating and inconvenient.

Have had this card for 10 months. The offer they sent to me said they would double my limit after 7 months and THEY DID. I pay off my balance each month so I have never had to call into their customer service dept, so not sure how they are. I would recommend this bank to anyone who is rebuilding their credit.

Merrick Bank has fulfilled every aspect they proclaimed when I first signed up. They have doubled my credit limit exactly when they said. The monthly rewards are helpful. I opened my account a few years ago, and while the interest rate is higher than other companies (rightfully so), they continually review my account and increase my credit line accordingly. This is significant when building and/or repairing your credit. I financially backed a failed business and as a result, my score dropped drastically. Thanks in part to Merrick, I back on my feet.

I attempted to make a charge at Princess Cruises on my Merrick Credit Card for $1000.00. It was declined. I checked my balance and had available credit to cover that transaction amount. When I called Merrick Bank, the CSR was very helpful but could not give me an explanation for the decline after the credit card number and the security code were verified. The CSR then suggested that I call the vendor because it was obviously their error. I went back to Princess Cruises and used a different credit card and the charge went through. I have used credit cards in the past and declines are not usually the fault of the vendor. Frustrating that I can't use the credit card for the transactions I want to use them for when Merrick Back gives me the credit but then decides what they will approve and what they won't.

Sent in my deposit of $300, waited a few weeks, received the card, did not use the card too much just on minor things, the card comes with their $36 fee already charged to it. Well I was in a bit of a bind and charged my cellphone bill to it which consumed most of the balance. Well here they go and charge off my account and kept my deposit of $300, and now a collection agency that they own is collecting $299.02 from me. I call Merrick Bank to find out where my deposit is and no one can tell me.

I call your customer service to see if I can renegotiate for new rates. I pay on time and extra. I was not only treated rudely but made to feel stupid. When I signed up for your card I was not told about the outrageous signing fees. Your bank needs to learn how to treat people.

Merrick Bank seems to be a ripoff. It was ok at first, but after we went on vacation last year, and I used the card, my available credit is low, and every time, I make a payment (recurring), even though I have a positive available and don't use it, I end up back in negative. On the recurring payment, there are only 2 options. Minimum payment or statement balance. Most companies at least allow you to choose the amount of recurring payment. Why not Merrick. I believe it is a scam to keep poor people in debt to them. Someone should investigate to find if what they are doing is ethical as well as legal.

I am very please with Merrick Credit Card. They started me out with initial credit of 700 with the promise of increase to 1400 after 6 months of on time payments and have regularly increased my limit without me having to ask them. All of my other cards I have to call to get an increase. I really like this time of customer service. Thank you Merrick Bank.

Well yeah it's real easy to get a card from these guys but they will completely clobber you on fees such as their new one of 6 dollars a month just for nothing. I already pay an annual fee higher than most. Then it's super high interest that you'll never pay off so don't get caught in this trap folks. I'm paying mine off. Thank God I don't owe much. Then I'm cancelling this trap of a card. These people are getting stinking rich off the little guys back... Beware something too good to be true usually is.

I would rate overall experience with Merrick as positive. Great website, intelligent live agents who spoke clear English. The Interest rates should decrease, limits increase, and annual fees (if any) removed, as customer's credit worthiness increases. The only reason I will be closing this account with my increased credit scores and income I am able to get half the APR% with 4 times the limit.

I have been a Merrick customer for over 2 years. My new card was lost in the mail. Customer Service was excellent and my new card was cancelled immediately, and a replacement was sent and received within 5 business days. Payments post quickly. Though interest is high, they gave me a chance to prove I was credit worthy. Merrick bank has gone above and beyond my expectations!!

First off, these people overcharge me and said I was late on my payment, yet they cashed my payment 3 days before the due date. In addition they wanted me to get a copy of the money order to show them when they cashed it. However, I could not obtain one because it cost $18.00 that I did not have. Moreover, they have now received another payment which took them a full 8 days to get which is dumb because the mailing address is listed right here in the U.S.A. It should not take that long for them to receive nor process my payment in a timely fashion. Their reps will argue with you and give you the runaround. Does anyone from this company actually listen to their call logs? Is anyone going to seriously address my issues? I doubt it.

I have been pleased with Merrick Bank as they provided an increase after six months. I believe that after six months of be consistent in payments that more credit cards companies would increase the credit limit. More individuals would utilize credit. The Merrick rewards card holders by allowing them a increase as long as they are making their payments in a timely manner. I would recommend Merrick Bank.

I had the credit card for over two years. Never had a late payment nor have I been over my limit. I thought I paid my account in full back in September to only find out I still owed 132.00. I encountered a late of 27.00. I immediately called Merrick Bank to ask for the fee to waived and that payment will be sent in on Monday. I tried to use my card to only find that they had disabled my card for a past due balance of 35.00.
Tried talking to customer service and a manager. The first manager refused to take the call. The second manager gave me some BS about all credit cards: "disable your card if you are late". I can see if I was a customer that was a habitual and being late with payment. Like I said I've never been late nor have I been over my limit. I I told the manager that she could go ahead and close my account because if this is how Merrick Bank is going to conduct business and handle customer care situations then I don't want to be a part of them. I had a 2500 credit limit with a balance 132 and you disable my card. Really.

Great card. They gave me a chance to rebuild my credit. After 8 months of paying on time, they automatically raised my limit. I always pay online and have never had any problems with the website. Yes there are annual fees, but that's to be expected when you have bad credit.

I've been a card holder with Merrick Bank for over five years and up till now I had no complaints. I recently paid $1600 towards my account which has a credit limit of $2900 and they still declined transactions and when I call and inquiry on why - they cannot give me a solid reason. And the representatives are rude as hell. Needless to say I will not be doing business with them anymore.

I called in the other night to make a payment and the automated system said it recognized my account based on my ph# but it was giving me the old account #s last 4 digits. And it kept transferring me to an agent. The 1st agent said that she would have to charge me a few to make a payment and I explained that I wasn't pushing the option to speak to an agent that it just transferred me on its own, so she said she would transfer me to the machine again. The machine did the same thing as before, the machine said it recognized my acct from the phone I calling from and then it told me the wrong last 4 numbers of my acct, and then it would transfer me to an agent.
So it transferred me for a 2nd time to an agent who I recognized from a few other run ins with her. She is absolutely rude and I've dealt with her before, she always acts like she's doing me a favor and speaks in a miserable tone and she always, always gets an attitude and she's even hung up on me before. All I wanted to do was make a payment and she hung up on me so I called back and spoke to a man and he said that I was putting in the old acct# and I explained that all I pushed was #1 to continue because the automated machine kept saying it recognized my acct# from my phone and it only gave me the option to press 1 to continue and then it would send me to an agent and he said that if wanted to make a payment (which is what I was calling for) that he would have to charge me 10 or $15.
I can't remember which or that he could transfer me back to the automated system and that it should work now so I said "okay, I'll take the automated system." So he transferred me back to the automated system which did the same thing and transferred me to another agent which happened to be the same agent that acted miserable like she hated her job and who had just hung up on me! So she answers and I explain that the system is saying the wrong number and that I just spoke to a male agent that assured me it would work this time and that it's saying the old last 4 digits of my old acct# and she said that I was lying and that I didn't speak to any man because she could see on her monitor that I was transferred to her by the machine!
She was talking over me and wouldn't let me speak and explain that it was not the case! I told her that It is not true and that I'm just trying to make a payment and that the automated machine was broken and that I just explained myself to 3 people including speaking to her twice was 4 agent conversations and no one could help me make a payment.
I begged her to please waive the fee and let me make my payment with her because the Merrick banks automated machine was broken and repeating old account numbers back to me and it would not let me make a payment with automated machine because it kept transferring me to agents after agents who couldn't help and she began screaming at me and saying that I'm a liar that she could see on her end that I had just called the automated system and that I didn't speak to anyone but her and that "there's no way in hell" she was going to let me make a payment with her for free.
I then had beg her 5 times to let me speak to her supervisor. First she said that no one was there then she proceeded to argue and finally after 5 mins of her yelling and me begging to talk to a supervisor she finally said "I'll see if there's any supervisor that even wants to take the call". That was such a dumb and rude statement, I couldn't believe I was going through this.
Then a man came on the line. I explained the trouble I kept having with the automated machine and that this particular agent was treating so rude and disrespectful like I've never been treated before by an agent, she was excruciatingly unprofessional and that no customer deserves that treatment. He apologized and agreed that no one should be treated rudely and then he said that he would manually enter my new account number and then he asked me to hold and he ended up transferring me back to the automated system and it began telling me my acct info and it finally let me proceed with my payment. I do not have the date and time but it was the last time I called and made a payment. You can check the records of that. All and all I strongly believe that this female agent behaves so rudely because you guys don't seem to be recording the agents' calls.
Every other credit card I call has amazing professional service and it's because the automated machine that transfers me to an agent at their company always lets me know that the calls are being recorded for quality assurance. And that is the difference that I notice with your company it never says it recording the calls and the agents know that and some of them like the rude ** female that I keep encountering know that they are not being recorded and that she can have a ball abusing me and arguing because no one will ever know or care. And I'm highly disappointed that I'm a victim to her games and that you guys would hire such unprofessional, evil, low-class people like her at my expense.

I had a Merrick Bank VISA credit card and it was in good standing--always paid on time. 3 years ago my purse was stolen and the card (of course) was in my purse. I notified Merrick Bank--they didn't refund $150 stolen on my card but they did put a block on it. The account stayed open so I continued to pay it. In August I made the final payment and my balance was 0.00. Merrick Bank refused to close the account even though I don't have a credit associated with the account. The Bank continues to charge me annual fee for a account that is dead. I have talked to them and they refuse to close out my account. I believe this is ILLEGAL!

I have had a card with Merrick for at least 5 years. Never been late or over the limit. I called and asked if I could get my interest rate lowered. They refused to even discuss it. They said they DO NOT negotiate interest rates. I don't understand their policy at all. As soon as I pay them off I will cancel and move to a more consumer-friendly card.

I applied for the credit card through Credit Karma and they were true to their word that if I paid on time for 7 consecutive months that I would get an increase and I did where through Capital One they did NOT remain true to their word.

I have never had any issues with Merrick Bank. The only thing was that they were slow with reporting the increase in my credit limit to the bureaus. Once I submitted a request for them to update my credit limit with the credit bureaus, they did so quickly.

Merrick Bank gave us credit when we needed it. We built a trust together over the past year and they increased our credit line. We have not used credit cards in over 30 years until recently. Merrick Bank offered me credit after tough financial times due to my wife's illness. She had four major surgeries and medicine that was so expensive that we just could not handle...thus Bankruptcy. Merrick still offered me credit and has been willing to move my credit limit up, helping me regain positive credit scores and reports with all three reporting companies. The interest rate isn't the lowest out there but the fact that they would even offer me credit is outstanding. Easy to work with as well. Big A+ for Merrick.

Because we don't have a checking or savings account with Spokane Teachers Credit Union, just our home loan and 2 car loans with them the checks were denied. The bank doesn't know why they didn't go through. They suggested depositing them in our account, then pay you with a personal check. And that worked. Their interest was 0% for 6 months then only 12% after that. Merrick was very kind to remove the returned check fee. We will still use our Merrick card but pay in full each month. Thank you.

I was sold on this provider when they offered to double my credit limit by simply stating in good standing for at least 6 months. When chip cards became standard, I did not need to ask for a new one, they sent it right away! I would recommend to anyone.

this supervisor Freddy ID #** she tells us the if we need the card we would have to pay $29.00 fee. Ok it is Merrick Bank issue and she would not help us as a long time customer. There is no customer service anymore. The bank can take our money with no problem but when there is a issue no help at all.
