Within weeks of signing on I began to feel anxiety over the choice I made. I had questions, concerns and fears about imagined scenarios and problems ahead on this business effort. I called my reps for answers, explanations and reassurance. Each call was answered. I talked with patient, knowledgeable people who understood my fears and answered my questions. My confidence grew over time as I realized I had been given reliable and truthful advice by competent, professional individuals. Except please STOP telling the lenders about me, the calling me, texting me, emailing me about wanting to lend me money to pay it all off at a higher interest rate is getting old and they are coming to me with JGW suggested they contact me.

The reps were super friendly and went through everything with me. If I had a hard time understanding, they would try to figure out a different way to explain it to me, but they would made me feel comfortable with my decision. They didn't rush me either. I told them I didn't want to make a decision immediately. I took about a month before I finally decided to go ahead and do it, and they were fine with that. They were well with walking me through what was going to happen and what other companies may ask me.

I wish I never got involved with him them. They tell you one thing then tell you something else later. Then they want you to pay for their lawyer because they cannot do their job. One star is too good of a rating.

So far, the program is good. I'm paying off my debt every month and it's been a lot easier to keep up with my debt. Customer service is great. I can have a steady payment every month and I don't have to worry about that I pay this or that I pay that. I know that everything is getting paid together.

JG Wentworth is a good place to go. The program worked great. The reps are very attentive and they always answer my questions right off the bat. If they don't have answers, they let me know, "Hey, we'll check into it and get you an answer as soon as we can," and then they would follow up within less than a day. We got a couple of debts taken care of right away and we got some settlement offers for a few of the others. After that, we ended up transferring the debt over to New Credit America that they work with. So, JG Wentworth did the loan to pay it off and now we owe them.

There is never a need to question them and I rarely have a question. And they don't needlessly bother me. I pay the money twice a month like I'm supposed to and nobody bothers me. Everyone is entirely courteous and knowledgeable.

Your payment has been really SLOW. Talked about first 2 months and then suppose to slow down. Have taken a 100 plus count on our credit score. You wouldn't give us a loan at the beginning and we had high 600's at the time. Now you are willing to lend us money when our scores are low 500's. Merrick Bank has already turned over to collectors. You all have not really done much so far but cause additional headaches for us. You get our monthly payments, how about doing what you said you would do. And how about in a timely manner.

Service is good.. Staff seem like they genuinely care. I was a little skeptical about the whole consolidate debt.. So it was worth a shot, since nothing else I was doing seem to work. Staff walk you through the steps to try to ease the uncomfortable. So I am glad I decided to this route.

Once I got the gist of it and listened to what Ryan, the rep, had recommended, their process was pretty straightforward. Initially, they offered me a loan for 20,000. I had $23,000 in debt, and eventually said I didn't qualify, but they would offer me that I pay it off. They negotiate a settlement once it's charged off. I decided to go with that because we're at the point where we're gonna consider bankruptcy.

They were very forthcoming, really nice, and professional. But it ended up being really important to know that there were going to be a lot of fees involved, which I wasn't really clear on. I ended up paying more than I thought I was going to. In retrospect, I kind of wish I had found another way to do it but other than that, I'm glad that I got it done and I'm glad that it's taken care of.

JG Wentworth met my needs so far. I applied for a credit card recently and I got approved, so it shows. I’m really satisfied with the program, and hopefully, I can finish soon. If only they can decrease the bi-weekly payment, depending on my overall balance, because it’s going down. Nonetheless, they have good customer service and they communicate.

The service was awesome and the rate was pretty good. The program was seven months and then I was offered through their sister company to pay it all off. Then, I paid them one payment every two weeks. So I'm still paying on it but I'm not paying on it through JG Wentworth.

Been in program for 7 months. Early on contract was monthly keeping me up to date of what is going on. Last 4 months however to find out anything I have to call. I had to remind them of a settlement they lost. It seems like once they have your fees don't bother them with questions.

I don't like the small $5 payments that I get charged 9.95 per transaction. I still have an account calling me after 4 months. Please contact them & make it stop. Customer service is nice when I call. I wish you guys were open until 7 Central Standard Time instead of 6. I have to call during my work hours or immediately when I walk out of work. Other than that, good job.

Initially, the program was working well. Even though I did not initially qualify for a debt consolidation loan, I was told that in 6 months time as long as I was successful in the program and had made all my payments on time, I would qualify and could apply. First of all, this was not done in a timely manner. I had a to reach out multiple times to get this process started. Then, when it did get started, I found out that the loan would not be through JGW, but another company. The process took much longer than expected and when I was finally at the point of being offered a loan, the terms were horrible and I would even call the interest rates predatory. This was very insulting and upsetting. I wish I would not have been given false hope when I signed up for the program and wish I had been told that likely the terms of a debt consolidation loan would not be good, even after being successful in the program and making every payment on time for 6 months.

When attempting to reach personnel in the customer service office, I have not once been able to speak with anyone on the initial phone call. I have always had to leave a voice-mail message and hope for a response. On a positive note, my credit score has increased since you have began eliminating my debts. Thank you.

Working with JG Wentworth was very fast. Even though it was a long process, they kept me informed and kept saying, "Now we're in this stage and then another stage." They made sure to let me know everything that was going on. They also do exactly what they say. We're able to settle everything. My credit score also went up from low 600 to almost 700 now and going.

JG Wentworth's program worked out pretty well for the most part. But it could have been explained a little better because I was under the assumption that once I dealt with them, I would keep making payments to them. But it turned out that they've transferred my account to another company and that was not expected. Other than that, I got great service and communication was perfect. This is a good company and I recommend them.

They were very informative and thorough. They were patient and answered all the questions I had. I also liked that they took their time. They were never seemed like they were rushed. The outcome's been good. Ultimately, I was able to get everything compounded into just one account and make one payment. I was very satisfied. However, I think had I to do it again, I might not do it this way because I didn't realize I had to go delinquent on all my accounts in order to do it. I may not have understood the part about the delinquency thing going to affect me that way, but that's not anybody's fault. I just didn't think about it that way.

JGW is a little slow to get accounts negotiated and that is delaying a loan you recommended me to apply for. Meanwhile, I am still paying 2 big payments a month to JGW. I need for the accounts to be negotiated, so I can get this loan started and start rebuilding my credit score.

Not long ago I was able to go to client portal and make my payment early as long as it was not the same day. I think it was 2 or 3 days before the due date, I was told it was never an option. Then after that the agent on the phone started explaining things to me, unrelated to why I called in, like I was a child. I was already mad I couldn't make my payment early. Now I felt disrespected as well.

I'm not very tech-savvy, so I wanted something that I was gonna be able to understand and JG Wentworth looked like they were the most user-friendly. The program has allowed me to pay off and consolidate my debts. They made calls and offers on my behalf. Then, after I completed a year of that, some other company that they're working with took over and made it more of a loan. Instead of me paying monthly, they paid them all off and now I just pay the same amount of money. All the debts now are closed. Working with them, I feel better every month when I had to do my bills.

My concern was being able to maintain my credit somewhat and being able to pay it in an easier payment and not getting so much with the interest. JG Wentworth made out a plan for me and it made more sense to do them. The program has worked amazingly. I was able to keep some of my credit. My credit is going up little by little. Also, the support has been great. They are negotiating for me and that has helped a lot. Then, every month or so, they send me an email informing me how many creditors we have and what's the percentage down on the loan. And at the beginning, when I always tried to reach them, they were always there and with any questions or doubts I had, they will call right up.

So far it's been an alright experience but it is taking an awfully long time and my credit score is tanked which was expected. But if someone were to peek into my inbox and see all the noise from the creditors, I look really bad….

JG Wentworth was very easy to work with. My client associate was very helpful, knowledgeable and willing to answer any of my questions whenever I needed help. My biggest thing was it was showing delinquent and we couldn't settle all of them at the same time. It’s the only reason I opted to try to hurry and get it pushed through then do a personal loan. Because I knew that the longer that I waited in that timeframe, and it going to delinquent, my credit would never come back up like I wanted it to. It's not necessarily that I'm trying to buy anything, but I value the credit that I have and I didn't want it to be tanked for too long. Now, we got everything settled and they even helped me get a personal loan and it shows that they're done taking care of it. They're not delinquent anymore so my credit already started to come back up. I've referred a couple of people over that asked me about JG Wentworth.

Was never told my score would drop over 200 points and payments would be missed and that my credit score will be damaged for over 7 years, I would never have agreed to this, totally disappointed with your company or at least the sales guy that got me to agree with not telling me what’s going to happen.

We were doing well for a while. I assume we are in a holding pattern now accumulating more funds to make an acceptable offer to creditors. I have not heard from JGW in a long time. I am satisfied that resolutions are happening. I am quite unsettled about the fact that I fear my credit rating may be heavily damaged even though I have kept up with paying bills and am making strides to correct situations that need a solution. How long it will take to repair my credit is unknown to me.

I had the rep on the phone at the time. And when I said the situation, the guy said they could do it. I was at a crossroads to where it would either be that or the dreadful thing. But I didn't want to do the dreadful thing. So he was on the line, and I said, “Well, if I'm gonna do this, I need to do it now.” However, in advertising, it needs to be made aware upfront that not all accounts made can be settled. It could very well be in whatever I signed, so be it. But that is something that needs to be stressed upfront, so that people wouldn't be surprised. Because what I have to do for one of these accounts is not only am I paying JG Wentworth, I have to pay a substantial amount to that account that didn't get settled. So, it's still expensive. The surprises have been a setback for me.
The first one, I got served with a subpoena. That account had to be taken out of the JG Wentworth thing and be on its own. So, that is the one that I’m able to make payments to so I wouldn’t have to go to court or garnished. Now, I got a summons from Discover. They would only talk to JG Wentworth. But it has gone through that whole process. I'm now just waiting, but I have a feeling if I wouldn't be able to do it, or if they couldn't come to negotiations, I don't know if Discover would do the same thing that that other company did with me and I would be back where I was. Other than that, JG Wentworth's services has been helpful.

I have multiple credit cards that I was paying a lot of interest on them. So when I contacted JGW they told me a way that they can help me pay these credit cards off with about half of what I owed. I talked to JG Wentworth's rep and I didn't qualify for that but he looked at some of my debt consolidation stuff, gave me some numbers, and it made sense to me so I went with the program. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and great to work with. The only thing I didn't like was I had to start becoming late on payments which made my OCD about paying bills a little weird, but we got past that now. And I'm paying off another loan that I had to get because Discover sued us. They wouldn't settle unless we could do a whole month so we ended up getting a loan through New Credit America. Since then, it feels nice to get a lot of things paid off. JG Wentworth helped me as a program and it got me out of debt. Also, my credit rating is getting up higher than it has ever been.

I was always able to reach somebody via text and they responded in a timely manner. The program worked perfectly fine. I was able to graduate earlier than expected, because I was making my payments on time. And JG Wentworth referred me to New Credit America, which took over the rest of it. JG Wentworth is a bit too slow to find a way to consolidate with a card. It took almost one year, and I still have two more cards to consolidate. It has to be more detailed with that. Other than that, I like everything and customer service has been good.

Don't ever enroll in a debt settlement program. Your credit score tanks. I totalled my car 5 months after enrolling. I couldn't get a car loan because of late payments due to this program. When I called JG Wentworth to help me get a loan, I was told they don't offer loans. Negotiate with your creditors yourself.

They told me I could qualify for a debt loan consolidation and it sounded like a good thing to do. They looked up all the credit cards that I was backed up on, not only mine, but my spouse as well, and we combined them all. They gave me one payment a month and it was something I could afford at the time. The program worked well. My total debt was 70,000 and I'm down to 6,000. I didn't think it was gonna go this fast, but it has been going so smoothly. I'm really grateful for that.

Updated on 01/01/2023: J.G.Wentworth lied to me. I was told I had a 3 year repayment on my CC. I was told I would pay J.G. Wentworth every month for 3 years and all my debts would be paid off within 6 months, which did not happen. The truth is they had no intention of keeping the original contract. They made sure that all CC did not make a offer and then they offered me a loan at 27%, 8 months later, which I declined then I get sued by Discover Card. J.G. Wentworth called me back and offered another loan that I had to now get co-signed. I was forced to take the loan or go to court. I took the loan and that was 10 months ago and $2000 in interest. I would not recommend this to anyone. I am very disappointed and sorry I signed up with them. Fortunately I can pay off the loan in 3 months and can be rid of this.
Original Review: I am hoping to have my debt taken care of soon. I honestly didn't think it would take this long. I am still waiting for a phone call to do a conference call with Synchrony Bank. I had 5 accounts with synchrony bank but only gave JGW 2 of them to work an agreement with, however, synchrony bank closed all my other accounts with them due to non payment of the 2 with JGW. That's okay. I really don't need all these Credit Cards. I signed up with JGW because I will be retiring soon and didn't want all the debt.

The reps have been awesome. They’ve been on the ball. But what I don’t like about the program is when we originally started talking to JG Wentworth, we were talking to them about my wife's debt. They talked me into pooling mine in, which was a bad idea. And from that point, they asked us not to pay any of the bills, which were all on time. So, eight months down the road, we saw that the money that we owed originally is the money that we were still paying overall for the debt. They are doing what they told us that they would do as far as settling the accounts. But because I follow everything, we really don’t save. Because we pay them, then we pay our extra fees plus the original debt. And we come out the same as what we were before.
Maybe we didn’t understand how it would go. And I shouldn’t have let them talk me into putting my debt in with my wife’s. Because both of us were in where we couldn't buy enough of anything for a while. So, it is not that we needed to buy anything. It was just I was trying to concentrate on my wife's $30,000 worth of cards that she had. So, there were no problems before, keeping up with our debts. It was just that they weren’t getting paid off. It’s a learning experience for me. And I have kids, so I wouldn’t let them go through that again. But as far as the customer service there, whether they have been males or females, they’ve been on the point. They reached out to us a lot and called us when they were supposed to.

They were very straightforward and upfront when I asked questions. They told me how they make their money, which was my concern because I was afraid it could be predatory lending. Also, I had account reps I could call. I had them by name and I could call and ask for them. That was helpful. The communication was really great and the onboarding was really easy and effective. There's a digital platform that has transparency that you can log in and control and add content to. And they were really direct upfront with how it would work. Even as individuals, you need to default on something before you can get any agreements and that is the one thing about this that you need to know going into this, which they were very clear with me.
They took over the interaction with my creditors. I use their address and their phone number so most of the calls go to them, which is really convenient. They were also very clear that my credit score is going to drop and they said that it's going to take a certain amount of time. But now my credit score is way over what it was. I've increased my credit score by like 120 points in less than 11 months. It's a great program as long as it's on the up and up. They were super helpful and they were nice.

JG Wentworth's program sounded pretty awesome and I've heard of them for some of the other things that they do. So, I decided to give them a call and with them, it didn't matter who I talked to, whether it was via chat, by email, through the portal, or if they called me, everyone was always so nice. But on the portal, I couldn't associate where my money completely went because their fees weren't on there. When I talked to a rep and said I had more money than what was reflected on the portal, I was told that they took out one of their fees. It made sense after she said that but she said that they didn't have it listed on the portal and she even agreed it would be good to have it on there.
Other than that, all of my debts that I had put through them got settled and they were really great. When I added a debt and decided I didn't want certain cards to go through, they said they could easily remove them and that it wasn't a big deal. It was awesome and it made a big difference. It put a lot of relief where I didn't have to worry about the bills. I've never been late on a payment but when we started, they told me to stop paying my bills. They said I had to have things go to that certain point where my creditors were willing to negotiate for the settlement and that made sense because if I keep paying, they're never going to let me settle. And I understood that process after they talked to me about it a little bit more.

Wish I could go back and not stated this, creditors have sold my accounts to lawyers to come after me for the balance that is owed now with late fees and extra money to pay these lawyers. Not as happy as I thought I would be. When I did reach out, there was no callback. When I asked for more negotiations, I was ignored. I had to skip one payment when my car broke down and was told I need to make extra payments instead of rely on that missed payment being added to the back end. This company does not reach out to touch base with their clients, but they are quick to make sure they get their cut. Even after writing reviews for their survey, they still don't reach out.

Have had nothing but a great experience since contracting for the service. Really like the monthly updates. Would like to see any attempts to contact those debts not already agreed to a settlement and what's currently pending settlement. Plus as part of the program should have some way the debts can be updated to reflect work happening through the credit report. Some accounts still have no change in 9 months.

One of the reasons, I chose JG Wentworth was the option provide for a loan through partner New Credit America. I applied for the loan when the email notification was received and was subsequently denied. I was dishearten by the process, I did not speak to anyone with New Credit America regarding the qualifications, loan amount or even the process. A representation called to inquire on my residence and I was told someone would contact me. The next communication was a denial email. If I am going through the program with JG Wentworth, it is a given that my credit score is less than desirable. Now I have an inquiry on my report that could have been avoided.

I wish I would have never signed up with JG Wentworth. I could have settled these accounts by myself for a lot less $ than paying JGW to basically do nothing. The only thing JG Wentworth does is to pay themselves as quickly as they can. Should have paid JGW a % of settled amount not as a % of total debt. I cannot recommend their services to anyone.

JG Wentworth sent me something in the mail and I spoke to a gentleman. I felt confident in them and I went with them and they did their job. When people do their job, that makes me happy. I started about a year ago and I got about maybe a year and a half left with them. Their customer service is fabulous. They're very sweet and good people. They've talked down quite a bit of the stuff that I had in debt-wise and worked it out. Certain companies are a little more difficult than others, but in the end, I'm paying it off and getting it done. JG did the best that they could for me.

Everything about the whole experience has been 5-plus stars. I like their prompt responses, communication and empathy. I've seen almost half my debt get settled. It's been pretty much seamless with the exception of one, but how that got handled with the difficult one has been great. It's kind of relieved a lot of stress off of me. I got an email about JG via email and in the mail. I didn't open the envelope all of October and November 2020 and then December is when I opened it and I was so thankful for doing that. I guess God was managing and arranging things in my favor. I called in and it was a whirlwind of greatness that ensued. My first representative who started the process Christopher B. was truly an angel, he broke down everything step by step. Now, Lucy K. my current representative who is along with me in this journey is phenomenal! She has been through up and down with me and has been resilient, goes above and beyond and deserves several raises along with Chris B. JG Wentworth was really good to answer questions, but I don't hear from them anymore. It was really good at first. They'd email, text or call me. I got a letter on one of my debts that said they were going to sue me for it. I texted JG and messaged them and tried to call them and ask them what was going on, but they never answered back. They were supposed to settle the two debts. And the third one, I haven't heard anything on it. But the first one they settled was whom I got the letter from that said it wasn't getting paid.

Although promised that all my settlements would begin within 3 to 6 months of program start date, I am now 8 months in to making payments and I still have multiple outstanding accounts with no settlement negotiation at all. I have reached out, uploaded my own documents, made extra payments, voluntarily negotiated my term with JG Wentworth to make HIGHER payments to end the program sooner. Still no negotiations on JG Wentworth's part.

Contact your company was the very worst financial decisions I ever made in my life. I had never had a late payment and after hiring your company you just decided to quit making my payments, let the late fees and interest add up for about six months and then get it knocked down so it look like you helped. All your company has done for me is destroy my credit. You all are liars and scam artists. I would not recommend JG Wentworth to my worst enemy.

Due to the delinquency period required by creditors before negotiations can begin, there is an initial impact to your credit score. However, the goal is that will be temporary and begin to repair itself once settlements have been made and you maintain good credit habits outside of the program.
While the goal of our program is to help clients eliminate their debt as quickly and affordably as possible, we understand this program may not be a fit for everyone.

Initially, the company seemed to be happy to help me get rid of debt, but I think those people quit and were replaced with robots. Two of the four debts in my program companies were settled, but my credit is in the toilet with no hope in sight. The other two companies apparently don't want to work with me on my debt amount, and that's where it ends. What do I do now? I don't get calls from JG Wentworth representatives any more - they were replaced by machinery - only half my debt is settled, my credit is ruined for years to come, so what do I do now? Why should I keep paying the $500 to JG Wentworth each month when my credit is already screwed up? I would be better off if I had just defaulted on all four debts because my credit would be no worse and there would at least be money in my bank account. : (

When I signed on I was NEVER told that you would be taking 25% of my payments. I would not have signed on with such a high rate if I had known. It's ok. But just ok. Whenever I got somebody I felt comfortable talking with, someone else would call even when I requested a particular person. Don't care that someone else is in the same department. Hard to build a rapport with someone when you keep getting switched around.

I have had a very good experience with my debt settlement process. Lucy and her counterparts have kept me up to date with any status changes or any delays in the negotiation process. The only thing I wish is that creditors didn't take so long to settle. After 8 months in, we are still waiting on more than half of the creditors to settle the accounts. Our phones were ringing morning noon and night from aggressive creditors calling us trying to convince us to settle personally. Maybe JGW needs to be a bit more "convincing"?

I was getting overwhelmed with how much debt I had. I knew it would be tough to pay on my own. I was giving so much money monthly and it was only the minimum on most so it was like never ending. I was super skeptical about going into a debt relief program not really knowing what to expect. From the first call we had I found it very informative and everything was explained and answered clearly. The client portal is super easy to log into and upload documents when needed. It wasn’t thoroughly explained to be as while I was utilizing the program, how bad it was going to be affecting my credit, and the information wasn’t accurate. Also, not all of the operators knew exactly what they were talking about. When I had questions, it seemed as if they wanna tell you the right thing just to get you off the phone, but it wasn’t being explained honestly. The way that they explained the process to be was that it comes to an agreement with the accounts that they have on hand and that account get a portion of the payment. Then the bank fees and everything get a portion of the payment that they charge to the customer. Then the customer will have to pay for JG Wentworth's services which comes out of the payment as well. The only good thing that I see out of that is that it puts a time span on how long it’s going to take to pay them off.
The accurate time on how down your credit would be until the program is very helpful to you. But it wasn’t what I expected to be. JG Wentworth doesn’t reach out to the credit bureau to let them know that the accounts that they have on hand are in repair status. So, by not reaching out to the credit companies, it affects the person that has the program on the account. JG Wentworth should contact the respective bureaus to let them know that the accounts are in a situation to where it’s being repaired and that the customer doesn’t get penalized or hit for trying to better themselves by having their account taken care of.
When I came into the system, my credit score was about 15 points away from 700, and while I’ve been in the program, it’s dropped at least 124. Since then, I’ve been working on trying to get it back up. I had to fight to get back to where I was at. That’s where I had my biggest concern is if I wanted to go get something else, credit-wise, I'd have trouble getting it. But JG Wentworth helped me in shortening the time spent on the account down. For instance, if it was gonna take me four to five years to pay the account off, JG Wentworth has shortened the time in half.

Updated on 09/10/2022: I have one year left on this three-year plan to resolve my debt, but only 28 percent of my debt is gone. I have enough money to take care of a collection debt but still nothing. At the end of three years, I will have enough to pay off everything in the savings in total. So, in reality, doing this debt relief was a waste of time.
Original Review: I'm waiting for a follow up on more debt relief. Initially, I was told that I would be able to do a consolidation through one of J.G. Wentworth's partners for my credit card debt, but I have heard nothing. I was told in 6 months all this would happen but no one has contacted me about anything. Plus, the one derogatory mark on my credit is still there and that was the one that was supposed to come off first.

Overall the debt is shrinking but all the small ones is worked on quickly. The big ones I’m getting sued on. So it’s a toss up and sometimes you might get a quick answer from support or you’ll won’t hear from them for like 3 days later.

The program saves me about 100 bucks a month, so that puts $100 back in my pocket, which helps a little bit. Then, the creditors are being satisfied, so that's the most important thing, without damaging my credit too much. If I have a question, I can call customer support, and they usually answer it.

JG Wentworth has been on point. If you need their service, they're pretty good. It's a name that's known as opposed to some other debt relief that I don't particularly know.

Overall I’m pleased so far. But I didn’t realize that the fee that JG Wentworth gets for my debt settlement is at minimum 25% of the settled amount. I fear that I might end up owing more just based on the fees charged thus far. I probably would not recommend this program to anyone else. It forces you to stop payment for up to 6 months, and by the time the debt is settled, thousands more in fees have been added on. I think that needs to be planned more thoroughly in the future.

I am currently a customer with J.G. Wentworth. I am using their services for consolidation of some credit cards. I was not sure if I should consolidate, but after speaking with someone, I felt like it was the best thing for me to do at that time. They are friendly, courteous, and easy to talk to. After discussing my financial situation with them, I felt like this was the best option for me. They keep me informed what is going on with my account and I can always call with questions and concerns. So I am very pleased with the service and would recommend them.

JG Wentworth is good in some ways but terrible in others. Customer support's okay. However, they never tell you that you will stop paying your bills even when you were paying them before. Now, all of a sudden, you don't pay any of them and your credit goes in a complete tank for a year and a half. It completely tied my hands so I couldn't refinance 'cause my score was too low. Also, the biggest of the three accounts that I've been paying on was the one that they didn't touch. So after a year, Wells Fargo decided to sue me in court. It was up to me to negotiate with them after they sued me.
JG Wentworth tells me then that they couldn't settle that one because I don't have enough time and money in the program. Well, what do you think's going to happen after a year if it's a $15,000 account? They're going to come after me. That's what they did. It's just deception. If they don't tell you what to expect or what exactly is gonna happen, then you find out the hard way when you're already knee-deep in it and you can't do anything. I would highly recommend almost virtually no one doing it.

The contract on the length of time it takes to settle is a little long, but other than that, it's good. I had nine accounts, and we already paid off two big ones. The second one will be cleared on the 10th of this month, and then we're working on two more. I'm satisfied.

It's been wonderful. My only regret was not including everything. They have been amazing on their end. I would recommend it. It's very helpful and lowers my stress. When I have questions they always help. My suggestion is to not be shy about what to include and just take care of it.

These folks have the whole process nailed down. When I first took it on, I was worried about the consequences. Your credit score takes a dive, but for a good reason. You get it all sorted out. They're doing everything that they can to get you out of a situation and I don't think there's anything that could be done any better. From my point of view though, because I am hard of hearing and I hate talking on the phone, I would have preferred to be able to have somebody to meet in person. However, I didn't express that to them, so that's not their fault.

The system's working a lot faster than I thought it would on the credit card deals and we didn't expect that. JG Wentworth has been very concerned on how things are affecting my family financially with the covid situation. It's not like a business deal, it's more like a friend or a family member helping kinda situation. I tell anybody that is asking that's the place to go 'cause they care and take the extra mile to get you.

I looked at a couple of debt consolidation programs and a lot of them require money upfront. Wentworth's fees are a little high but they don't collect the fee until there's actually a settlement offer. Every settlement offer that I get shows me exactly what their fee is gonna be and it's 25% of the actual debt and not the settlement. That gave me a little concern but because of the amount of debt I had and the plan that Wentworth outlined, all of my debt would be paid off by August of 2022 which was something that I could do.
If I decide tomorrow that I wanted to terminate, I'd still have to pay Wentworth. But when you're in debt, you already feel like you're in a position where you don't have a lot of choices because you're struggling to pay the bills. The other thing was realizing that at that point, I was in no position to make more than the minimum payments. Some of my debts would take me 15 years to pay off if I'm just making the minimum and the interest would be accumulating. Wentworth's two-and-a-half-year timeline in comparison to 15 or 20 years was really not a bad thing and the timeline was reasonable.
I did the program in 2020. We're already in the fifth month of 2021 and I have about a year and three months left. I'm having to squeeze a little bit now. Even though I didn't lose my job with the COVID situation, things are much more expensive. I already live in a community that's very expensive. Right now, Wentworth is taking out over $800 which is a lot of money. But that has an end. I realized that if I could just save half of that every month, I would be in much better shape moving forward.
Wentworth's customer service is very good. In the beginning, they really worked with me to get everything set up. After we got everything in place, I had a review with somebody. I had a problem with the portal and their response time was excellent. They send me notifications through email. They text it to me too, which is helpful. They would send me the contract through email which I can download.
Recently, they sent me an offer. Settlement amounts are usually reduced amounts because you're already in collections and you're making an offer. The offer I got was not a reduced amount and I called Wentworth right away. When I pointed this out to them, right away they said that was not right and they got me the correct offer.

I was in a different program. JG Wentworth called me and they had better offers so I decided to go with them. Customer service was very prompt. Within a couple of months, I saw my debts getting settled. I get a text and I can accept the offer right there so it makes the process easier. There are some that sometimes I have to sign something on my email. So far, JG Wentworth has already gotten a good number of my accounts settled so it's been great.

We set up a monthly payment with JG Wentworth and the process was very well explained. Their reps were informative and very knowledgeable about what they were going to do for me and how it was going to go about it. At this point, they've helped us with a lot less stress as far as reducing the debt and not having to pay that interest.

Some of JG Wentworth's competitors have retained law firms which provide some legal protections and there might be an additional service they might want to look into. Other than that, my experience with them has been professional and satisfactory. I've had minimal interactions with them and after the initial call, I've had emails only. But so far, we've made three settlements and one lender outstanding.

The reps at JG Wentworth Debt Relief were always good and concerning. They got back to us and they’ve all been really great to work with. They started settling our debts after about three months and today, there had been $300 Wentworth debits out of the account.
