I wished that I had read reviews before getting my taxes done here. I only had them done there because H&R Block kept messing up my city taxes the last couple years and now I believe Jackson Hewitt did too. It seems like the tax repairer had no experience on doing taxes. Instead of filing my city taxes where I live they want me to send a tax return to RITA in another city. I’m not filing taxes with them in 2025.

I’ve been going here for over 20 years. I scheduled an appointment as I do every year. When I went to the appointment, I was told it was not scheduled. I showed them the confirmation but was told I need to need make another appointment or come another day as a walk-in. I asked for my regular tax person and was told she was at another location so I asked if I could schedule with her. I was told I needed to do it. She was very rude so I asked her for her name and she stated she didn’t need to give it to me, that I needed to leave or she was going to call the police. The whole time she was on a person call, because whoever she was on the phone with she was asking when they would be bring her lunch.

Stay away at all costs! I have used their service in Maplewood MN. This year, Marilyn ** charged my son $525(!) for a simple return with one W-2, unemployment form and college tuition form. I informed her prior that I would be filing as a head of household claiming my son as my dependent, and she disregarded our prior agreement, went ahead and filed for my son as single without checking the box that he is a dependent on my taxes. My son felt that he paid for both of us.

They tell you one price and then charge you another. I even asked before I made the appointment and the guy told me no more than a certain price and it turned out to be double. Never again. It’s a total scam of a place.

This will be the last time that I go with Jackson Hewitt. Every year they have a novice person who makes mistakes on my taxes. Their training must be abysmal for them to continue to make these mistake.

I needed a new CPA or tax filing resource to help me with my taxes this year as the CPA who did my returns last year is no longer in business. I was looking for alternatives and noticed that Jackson Hewitt would do it for only $149 for new customers. They have boldly announced "NO HIDDEN FEES". I was skeptical about the pricing but they assured me that it is accurate. I submitted my paperwork in one of the stores, the next day I got a call that they would not honor the price and that I should go to another store. When I called the other store, they told me that they would not honor the price as it would mean giving me a discount of $550. When I went to collect my paperwork from the first store, she informed me the store in the local Walmart would honor the price. When I called this 3rd store, she agreed to do it for $149. After dropping off the paperwork, she called me to inform me that her boss declined to honor the price.

I'm impressed with the friendly staff and their professional demeanor. I was able to complete everything today and the only reason it took as long as it did was because I forgot things and had to go home twice! They were very kind and understanding. Thank you!

Beware when you file on your own. You need to understand how taxes work because the software does not really help. For example, the tax software does not account for all of the non-taxable income for the MI Property Homestead Tax credit. You would need to make your own manual adjustment.

Myself and my spouse went to the location in Rowlett TX, super Walmart. And the lady was so unfriendly, rude and unwelcoming. I really don’t like calling to complain about someone but it was that bad I had to call the manager to complain. My wife is a registered nurse and she’s one the sweetest person and for her to feel uncomfortable and disappointed with the situation is heartbreaking.

We estimated our taxes at home and realized we were probably going to have to pay in, so we went to JH, like we did last year, hoping it would benefit us somehow. We were wrong. We ended up paying over $300 to have them tell us we owe $200. We should have known better and stayed at home. I’m not saying what app we used at home because I don’t want anyone thinking this is a fake review. My wife was crying as we left. What a rip off this stuff is! And the whole, “we charge $579, but I gave you a $300 discount “ line is so cringy. What a con. And they charge a $55 bank transfer fee. Like what? Why? I will not be using JH again. Ever. I’ll do them at home for free. The results are the same.

I had an appointment with Jackson Hewitt this morning. No one showed up. Then I went to another office in my area. I was trying to figure out how much federal taxes to take out. I didn’t get the help I needed. I paid 309.00.

This was a horrible place. Bad attitude at 100% Advertise $149.00 for new client then tell me it's going to be $400.00. The inside of the building was dirty and uninviting. I will never step foot in another one of these businesses. If I could rate it 0 stars, that would still be too high of a rating.

I have used Jackson Hewitt for 3-4 years now. They are very accommodating when you need to change an appointment. They are all very nice. I had Cole and he was wonderful. He made me very comfortable and at ease. He was fast and efficient. I would wholeheartedly recommend Cole and Jackson Hewitt to any and everybody. Thank you Ramona

This whole idea is a rip off! My preparer (Crystal) did not know what she was doing! She made me feel very uncomfortable with her lack of knowledge. I was charged 183 dollars for a simple return! Do not go to them at Walmart!

It was my 1st time getting my taxes done at Jackson Hewitt and I’ll continue to use them in the coming years. Angelica did my taxes at the Gulfport branch in Florida. She was great! Very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. She made everything easy and smooth. I definitely recommend her to do your taxes!

I have a capital loss to roll over on my taxes. I contacted Jackson Hewitt (JH) multiple times about the matter but no one I spoke with could help me. Finally I was advised to see their company specialist on "complex returns." I made an appointment and waited FOUR WEEKS to meet with this individual. On the day of my appointment, I arrived early. I waited over an hour until the specialist was done with the prior client. Flag one -- disregard for client's time. While sitting in the waiting room, I heard that client lament that JH had made mistakes on the client's past year tax return and that as a result the IRS had contacted the client to demand the payment of fees and penalties. The Jackson Hewitt team (the agent I was supposed to meet and another agent nearby in the same office) never apologized. Instead, they brushed off the client's concerns as another agent's problem. Flag two -- deflecting responsibility.

Only reason 1 star is because it was easy to schedule appointment online. Showed up for appointment and had to wait 30 minutes for agent to finish up. Next, was never told of fees until end. Cost over $200! I can do them myself, for FREE! Only reason I went to JH was for Advanced Refund. Which I ended up not getting. Filed Feb 5th. Still waiting for refund. IRS site gives me an expected deposit date of 3/19, but JH claims they haven't received a date. So so much for the 5 days sooner bull. Will NEVER use them again!!!

Terrible. Uneducated and deceiving. I'm a new customer and I will never ever allow them to handle my taxes after this year. I have never been so infuriated and frustrated. Their customer support was no help at all either. Hire better employees.

Went to 1 location and it took almost 2 hours...simple return with a supplemental income and loss that I filled out. Make as appointment to pick up the following week. Was called the day before telling us "she couldn't figure it out and we had to go to a different location. We got there and nothing was completed so we waited another 1:45 for her to do it. Got it home and there was a mistake. She omitted a line in the schedule E. Made another appointment a mouth out. And even called that week to make sure the amendment was filled out so all I had to do was check it.... Here I sit already an hour 45 and she still isn't finished. On top of that there is only 1 person in the office (during tax season) all 3 times. I will not be coming back to JH next year. Also $700 was too much to pay for a fairly simple return

Love this located Mrs. Dianne **!!! You gotta love her. She's Down to earth. She gets you in and out with no problems. Helps get the most out of your taxes. Don't think about it. Just drop and see for yourself.

Terribly high pricing. 479 for the basic service. Highway robbery!!!! The lady was very kind and courteous but after a few clicks on the keyboard and 45 minutes later my bill was 479 bucks. That's absolutely ridiculous. I was robbed.

Y’all have taken well over three times the amount of time that H&R Block would take. I’ve been waiting 40 days you do this on purpose so people will take the fast return for less money. Y’all are extremely greedy. This is the first and last year I will ever use Jackson Hewitt at tax services. I’ll be glad to never deal with you guys again.

This is my first time ever using Jackson Hewitt. They post a offer for new clients that you will only pay $49 to do your federal taxes. This they do not honor, it is a ad they posted to simply draw new clients in. I as a new client paid $275, instead of having the IRS send your refund directly to you they have it sent to their bank and then charge you a extremely high fee to then transfer your money from their bank to yours, what a scam, all of my years filing my taxes with tax services my IRS check came directly to me. They call the $275 is a assisted refund fee so according to their so called $49 fee they charged me $220 over that advertisement and refuses to give me a refund. I will never use these people again and I will continue to push people away from them. I don't even give them a one star rating. They charged me more this one time than it has costed me the last three years together. I hope everyone reads this

Waste of time and money, 149$ is a scam, Don't know jack about new or yearly changes in Federal or State tax laws. What I have learned is when it comes to taxes and tax returns, Don't try to save money and go to the ones that have solid experience and are up to date and respect you and your time.

And I met Dwein and I thought she was Dione Warwick. Because she looks like her. What a world class lady is Miss Dwein. I scheduled an appointment with them, then they sent me at least three reminders by text, which I confirmed. Then got to my appointment on time and nobody was there. I waited about 20 minutes, and nobody showed. I left a text and called and left a voicemail. Never heard back from them. They're very unprofessional, rude, and wasted my time. Customers please go elsewhere. You may be sorry if you don't.

Their prices are way expensive for filing only one w2. I don't even own a business or have any sidre jobs. I was quoted 569 dollars as a new customer. In addition I was there for over 2 hours while the tax expert was preparing my taxes.

I have been with Jackson Hewitt for a years. I have never been given a discount or any deals. They charge $200 for simple W2 taxes that I can do on Turbo Tax for free. I would not recommend them. Go somewhere else or get their new comers deal and the year after go somewhere else coz they don't care about loyalty.

Robin (Oak Grove Ky) was super nice and a joy to converse with. Completed my taxes in a very timely and professional manner. Everything took under a hour!!! Very knowledgeable and helped me with all questions I had! 10/10 experience!

Made an appointment over the phone and was lured in on the promise of a promotion they currently run for $49 for tax filings. Once I arrived there at the appointment I have asked numerous times both in the office and beforehand over the phone if as a first time customer with them I would be eligible for that promotion and he assured me over and over saying yes I am and that all I would have to pay is that $49. So I got to my appointment and the guy behind the desk seemed to have somewhat of a language barrier, every other question we asked him he either didn't seem to understand or just couldn't answer even basic tax questions so he wasn't even that knowledgeable.

I filed my taxes at a office. I did have multiple w2's and a child tax credit, but I was there an hr and a half tops and most of that was spent waiting in the lobby while she finished with another client. They charged me 800 to do my taxes! I shouldn't have signed at the end, so it's partly my fault. 800 though? That's crazy.

Jackson Hewitt charged me $484 as their service chargefor my Robinhood shares, even though I made no profit from them. My husband and I filed a joint tax return at their Cayce, Columbia branch in February 2025. According to our W-2 statements, we were supposed to receive a $4,000 refund (federal and state combined), but Jackson Hewitt claimed we would only get $2,400. Meanwhile, my colleagues with similar tax situations received their full refund amounts as stated on their W-2s. When I contacted Jackson Hewitt, they had no explanation or justification. We both are an International student and our earning is very limited, the person took advantage of this. They scammed us.

I will never file my taxes here ever again. They have messed up my taxes I filed back in January with them and still haven't got my taxes back in. Keep getting letters from the IRS about verification of Identity. This is the second letter I got in the mail from the IRS. I am struggling right now and really need my taxes so I can pay my bills. Never will you guys again for taxes!!!!

This is the first time I use Jackson Hewitt to do my taxes. It is going to be my last time to use them for service. I am looking at the other reviews and I am surprised to see what some people say. Do they pay people to write reviews, or friends writing them. Comparing to what I have been paying for my CPA to do my taxes and the refund I was getting, Jackson Hewitt is a rip-off compared to that. My taxes were simple and I had everything added and all what they had to do is to copy the numbers. They still charged me $400. I guess no one is watching what the tax preparers are doing and ripping people off. Like I said this is first time and last time.

So I have again spent more than $400 on a $1,000 refund that I should have done myself but I had hoped to get the RAL which I did not I filed the 4th of Jan and just now got my refund but due to the mess of a company that SERVE is, which is the Mastercard the refund comes on I still am waiting. I have to now wait yet another five business days for a transfer to go thru from these people and the customer service is definitely not in the US and is stupid. Impossible to get any help at all. I don’t usually ever leave bad reviews but these company’s definitely deserve it and I will NEVER ever use Jackson Hewitt again. It was such a waste of four hundred dollars and they did nothing but make me further behind on my bills. I’m am so frustrated.

When wanting to talk to an actual person, you have to go through so many loopholes, that your patience will be exhausted. If you don't have a certain email, there is no way for you to get them to send a back-up email.

We had our taxes prepared today at the Jackson Hewitt office in Blairsville, GA. Mr. James ** got the job done in about an hour and really impressed us with his skill and ability to get the job done. I have never been so dissatisfied with a company with such a high reputation. I came to this company in hopes that there would be a good tax preparer that would suit my needs. Little did I know they would lose my tax information and not know how to find it. It’s horrible to know that there is such irresponsibility when it comes to something so important. Not to mention I had very difficult taxes that needed to be prepared 1099 and 1040s which make it someone which I owe money to the IRS that I don’t even know the amount because they were never put in record or filed. This is more than a disappointment! If you have any type of concern about who to go get your taxes prepared with.… Do not come here!!!

This company is a joke, I am a a senior citizen and file a simple filing on my pension and social security. They asked what I paid last year to get my taxes done and I showed her $40.00, but when she finished my paperwork she then told me it would be $159.00!!!! They take advantage of older filers.

Shakita at the Marysville Walmart was wonderful! Efficient and knowledgeable. She had our taxes done in just under an hour. She explained things as she went and made sure we understood everything. We will be back next year!

They promised to do my taxes for 25 dollars. They charged me more than 200. That on top of a 2000 tax bill. They should be more upfront with their pricing but I am in a limited income and now I have to dip into my emergency funds.

Went to Jackson Hewitt, get our taxes done, easy taxes. Not only did she not say anything about our taxes and just get them but it cost us almost $400 to have our taxes done. She didn't transfer all the deductions were from having to get your refund from the special Bank which was 100 almost 120 bucks, never mentioned that she didn't go over our taxes with us. She just literally she just did some typing and didn't say word to us. The worst experience ever.

I met with George ** at the Seekonk, MA Jackson Hewitt location. George is highly knowledgeable and brings exceptional customer service to the plate as well. He was very thorough and explained everything as we moved through the process. I didn't feel hurried at all, which I appreciated. I will definitely use George's services in the future.

They are way over priced. It cost me $219 to do 3 1099R 1 Social Security and 1 dividend. I went to them from 2018 to 2024 due to Crista ** but she got kicked upstairs and does not do taxes anymore. She recommended ** at 6005 S. Eastern Las Vegas and he does know what he is doing also. They BOTH deserve a pay raise.

Me and my daughter went to 5137 to file taxes for 2024 Tax preparation, was done by Fredrick ** branch Manager, I gave this Fred direct deposit information routing number etc. I asked about fast cash, Fred told me I would have to get a card for fast cash to be eligible so I got the card I specified. Specifically asked will the rest of my tax return go directly to my account, Fred told me yes on my way leaving the building. I said is the rest of my tax return going into my account. He said yes. I said I don't want no problems. We left.

I had an appointment on 2/10/2025 @ 12 noon. Before we started I asked her how much to make sure I could afford the service, she said usually $60- $100. They charged me $458 & I was shocked but had no choice to pay since the service was complete. At least I thought it was. I received a call about 45 minutes later asking me to come back & sign because my refund changed to $538. I drove back & signed the form. Then I received another call about an hour & 1/2 later saying her boss found an error & I was getting back over $1000 please come back & sign again!

Not good for people that don't have email. It told me to put in code, I did, verify my phone number, I did and still can't access the ATM!!! I DO NOT REFER ANYONE TO USE JACKSON HEWITT.! Sucks run around and why should you have to verify email to be able to use an ATM???

I've been unfaithful and all your customer to Jackson Hewitt until now! The fee I was charged to prepare a simple 1099 is ridiculous. It's wrong! You all are charging me almost $700! I'm on social security and I'm legally blind. I would do it on my own. However, I'm not capable. It took the tax preparer all but 10 minutes to complete my taxes from start to finish. I'm not satisfied. I feel like I've been taken advantage of. I don't feel like the service is worth the price. I would like to have a full refund of what I had to pay to have my taxes prepared because I'm disgusted by this fee hike. You don't care about what's fair to your customers. I will no longer be a customer of @jacksonhewitt 2025

I had my taxes completed by Emily at Pryor branch on 2/7/25! Emily WAS so kind/considerate/extremely helpful and she, Katrina (I spoke with her on 2/20/25 checking status) and all Jackson Hewitt employees so awesome 👍😍 and true blessings 😇 to myself and all other human beings I'm sure! Katrina also super nice and told me I would have my refund within 1-5 business days, praise God 😇 for EMILY, KATRINA and ALL at JACKSON HEWITT! Their customer service TRULY EXCELLENT and VERY QUICK on getting money back!! I'll ALWAYS be loyal to JH/all!❤️ I really am in SEVERELY HARD financial situation so THIS extra money really Blessed/greatly helps me!🥰🙏💕

I'm beyond angry with service from here. Prior year I loved them however this year the person was so unprofessional and for a month I asked about a message I received which apparently was a glitch in system. It messed with my filing and now since January I'm still waiting for word about my refund! I WILL not be using again along with will not be recommending their service. They cost same amount as other facility used before them and they didn't take this long nor was this unprofessional. When I asked to hear from upper I never was contacted and honestly it's probably for best as I have nothing nice to say now. DO NOT RECOMMEND AND DO EXTREME RESEARCH ON ANY OF THE AGENTS IN THIS COMPANY AS NOT ALL OF THEM DO THEIR JOB NOR CARE!!!

Had my taxes done for the third year in a row with JH and this will be my last time with them. My refund was $660, but JH charged me $630 for service. I mentioned to the prep person that this was my third time, that I was elderly, 72 and that I saw an ad for 25% off. She contacted her supervisor and I got the discount which made my charge $472. I don't know how JH bases their charges, but from now on I will use other online sources available at a fraction on the cost or AARP where I can get my taxes done for free. Dealing with IRS is scary for us elderly and maybe these companies take advantage of that, but this is one lesson learned for me that you are never too old to learn a better way, saving money especially when on a fixed income. Will never use overpriced tax preparation companies again.

Talk about unreal! I was NEVER asked or told I was being charged all these ridiculous fees let alone shown any paperwork stating how much I would be paying. My question as to how much I was being charged was never answered but I was told they don’t give out paperwork anymore, it’s all online. Look at these high and I mean extremely high fees. One star only and that’s because their bathroom was clean. This is a straight ripoff!

Poor representation of their products and process. Inconsistent representation of filing and timeliness. Wouldn't use them again, especially since I need still waiting on my return at 21 days, not the 5 days sooner as inferred.

Have been using Jackson Hewitt for many years now. After this last 2 years, I will not be returning. Did my taxes on 1/31/2023, did not receive my return till the day before Thanksgiving. Couldn't get ahold of anyone for several months. Finally got it solved on my own. The mistake was made by Jackson Hewitt on my 2021 return. Related my issues to several people and never did Jackson Hewitt offer me money back per their lifetime guarantee. This year 2024 first thing I'm told is I own my fees from last year, never was I contacted to tell me because of their mistakes the fees weren't taken out. Affected my return this year, couldn't be approved for advance loan because of said fees that I knew nothing about. Paid for the money card for no reason because I couldn't get the loan. Won't be returning.

Always a wonderful experience doing my taxes with Jackson Hewitt. Renee ** always gets refund me in & out quickly with a friendly & professional attitude at the Walmart store. She's my go to gal, I will be back year after year. She gets me a great refund every time.

Do not trust them when they offer the Serve card. You will have all kinds of trouble down loading app. I was supposed to get a refund by the 15 and I didn't die to couldn't download app. Had to go back and have cats switched to get a check mailed to me. Still haven't gotten it.

I went in to Jackson Hewitt in Robbinsdale, Mn and Ms Kimberly ** assisted me in filing my taxes quick and painless. She was very, polite, informative, and helpful. Made the process very delightful. I recommend anyone in or visiting the area to come by and check her out.

I had no problems. Minnie ** asked only what was needed and handled my taxes speedily and professionally. In less than an hour I knew how much I would need to pay, and what I'm expected to get in return.

I had my taxes done for the first time by the office located in St. Petersburg on 1st Avenue North and 31st Street. The taxes were completed, and I had no issues receiving the refund. Based on my initial experience I referred my son. He came in on a Wednesday (12th) and had his taxes completed as well. On my way out I asked about the refer a friend campaign and gave my name to Stephanie. She was able to pull up my information and completed the process. I haven't received the incentive, but I believe it will eventually come.

LaRhonda ** was great in helping file my taxes!!! She took away all the stress and got me a good return! I have a small business and she really helped me understand my deductions! I will be sure to use her every year at tax time!!!

My friend said she had a good experience with Jackson Hewitt so I decided to come to the West Springfield MA site. I met with Damon ** who did an excellent job! He answered all my questions and knocked out my return in less than an hour. Plus he is very kind hearted, patient, and has a good customer service presence. I will be back to meet specifically with Damond next year! Thank you Damond! What a relief to have this done!

I’m giving this service only 2 stars—the tax preparer was wonderful, but the pricing was completely unreasonable. My return was simple—just two pages with only Social Security and a small pension—yet I was charged for a "complex" tax return. Even the preparer was surprised by the cost. I’ve used this service for years because of its convenience and hassle-free process, but the excessive overcharging has finally driven me away. I can no longer justify paying such an inflated fee for a straightforward return.

I was a customer With Jackson Hewitt for over 10 years. I’ve always had great experiences with the ladies that have worked at my location at our local Walmart. Unfortunately the last two years have gone there they have a different worker and the experience has not been great. I’ve had a lot of questions. They have not been answered clearly to me. I went back again this year because I thought maybe I was just a little confused about things but once again I had several questions about Why I wasn’t getting anywhere close to what I was getting the last eight years that I’ve been going to them Prior to the last two.

Jackson Hewitt ripped me off this year. They charged me $555 for a simple 1040 form that I probably could have done myself. Last year it was $99. I told a lot of people and they said I may as well just bend over and get a jar of Vaseline. Anyway, I definitely felt like I needed PREPARATION H when I got out of there. Definitely will find someone else next year. My ** is still sore from going there. My recommendation is definitely find somewhere else to get your taxes done. Ridiculous!!!

Today I visited the tax booth at the Walmart on Federal and Riverton Wyoming. I was met by Sherry ** who I must say is an amazing woman. I recommend her to anybody and I tell you that if you're going to borrow your taxes at Jackson Hewitt at Walmart ask for Sherry because she is the best. My husband and I have been going to Jackson Hewitt in Wal-Mart in Fishkill for approximately 15 years, we recently moved so we went to Jackson Hewitt at Dutchess turnpike, our tax preparer's name was Charlene, I have NEVER experienced such awesome service as we had with her, she was very personable, professional and pleasant, my husband and I have NEVER had that type of service going to Wal-Mart, we will continue to go back to Charlene at dutchess turnpike location because she's the best tax preparer we've ever had, I'd definitely recommend making an appointment with Charlene, you will never be disappointed.

If I can give a zero I will. The District Manager name is Saul ** is the most unprofessional and the most unqualified person I ever seen. I'm not sure how he became a manager and who hired him??!! This guy scamming people with the tax preparer job letting them first pay around $200 to get the PTIN and CTED ID and will let you study in 10 days 26 sessions and when you are about to finish it, he will stop to respond to you. He will collect your SSN and address and phone number! What a low standard company. I just want to know why this man even getting a salary if he can't answer the phone or text back. If I were the owner I will terminated him on the spot. Wasting other people time and money and efforts. I'm sure their services very bad as you see other comments when you hire a low educated and a low IQ people in the wrong place.

My husband and I tried to file our taxes with Jackson Hewitt because they advertised $49.95 filing fee for new clients. After we arrived we were quoted $592 to file. I have never paid anything close to this amount to file. We were filing jointly with a few w2s from employment. Nothing complicated. When I asked about the advertised price he said our situation was more complicated due to us being married and we didn’t qualify for that deal…. I feel their advertisement was very misleading.

I filed with Jackson Hewitt located at the Walmart on East Palm Valley Blvd in Round Rock, TX. The tax preparer, Melissa, was outstanding, friendly and efficient. She was professional in her knowledge and made me feel totally at ease. I give my experience a 5 Star rating.

I just completed my 2024 income taxes and am so beyond grateful for JH. I had used TurboTax and TaxSlayer in past years and each year at the end of the process I was livid and paying far more than anticipated. JH was great all around. No theatrics on their site- straight to the point and just the right amount of help. It was quick, transparent and AFFORDABLE. No hidden fees or blind upgrades- amazing, seriously! Even to file both fed and state, w2's, multiple 1099s, etc. etc. still, $25. THANK YOU JACKSON HEWITT!!!! I will absolutely recommend to everyone I know. Please don't change a thing!!!

The service by Lisa was great, but the American Express they give you is trash!! You can't use this freaking card anywhere!!! Pure trash. This year JH offered a percentage off your bill up to 30% if you used a code they provided to you. I received 25% off. What more could you ask for. Waited one hour after my appointment time to be seen. I was also scammed into paying more than I should have. Simple tax return but they said it would be $500 but that they would cut it down to $79. They played with my emotions to trick me into believing I paid less than I should have but really it should have been less than $79.

Was told $49 for 2 simple w-2s totally less than 30k. Was charged over $300 because I also had a Social Security to file less than 10k. Punished like hell for being a retired senior citizen! What makes it bad I was not told about the “extra tier price” until it was filed. Senior citizens BEWARE!!!!

I had my taxes done by Jackson Hewitt and Surfside, South Carolina and I was told that it would be $380 to have my taxes done. Jackson Hewitt charge me $845. I called and left 10 messages and finally I was able to get in touch with the manager over that area which I was told was the only person that could do anything about that and then he told me after he accuse me of lying. Then he checked into it and saw yes that that was their mistake that they had overcharged me. He said whether that he could do about it and that’s not OK to charge me 470 more dollars then they told me I would be charged to do my taxes that’s not even legal, so he’s basically just refusing to do the right thing and refund me back the amount that they overcharged me.

I recently went into Walmart in Dartmouth Massachusetts. Was ready to do my taxes with Jackson Hewitt and noticed a woman playing with dolls and drawing, copying her drawings and taping them all over her cubicle. Dressed in sweatpants and a dirty sweater. I will go to H&R Block to have my taxes done. If this is the face of your company I do not trust you to do my taxes.

I was told it would cost me $100.00 after discount to file my very simple non itemized taxes. It took over 1.5 hours and the agent made at least 10 phone calls because she could not figure out how to file my taxes. 3 of those phone calls were for simply printing the paperwork. She blamed this on her poor training from Jackson Hewitt. Then charged me $301.95 dollars after misleading me the entire time of the cost. This payment was intercepted/stolen from my state refund.

My tax preparer is Barbara **. She has a great personality. She makes sure you understand all your options and gives you the time you need for any questions about your taxes. She’s great. Definitely recommend her And be a returning customer.

This is the third time I have filed and every time has been a rip off! I absolutely can't stand how slow and unprofessional these guys are! I went to the Jackson Hewitt office inside Walmart located in Centre of New England BLD, Coventry Rhode Island, the lady Shyanne was ok, the only issue I had that I forgot a form she needed I told I will be back, as soon I got back she was gone I was quite annoyed, Also I made an appointment for the next day unfortunately the CPA I was supposed to get my taxes done was supposedly sick I didn't bother to reschedule, Also now I'm reading that they are false advertisement for $49.00 and get back $100, very incompetent

I made an appointment, showed up on time. The one employee was still with the previous customer, she asked if she could help me. I told her I had an appointment for the current time. She said she was finishing up and would be with me soon. After waiting 30 minutes of her yelling and running around like a chicken with her head cut off and screaming "where are my pens, my pens don't work, someone took my pens!" I developed a severe migraine from her yelling that she was basically incompetent at her job and my appointment was half over and she hadn't even helped me, so I left. Without my taxes being done, had a severe migraine, and I made the appointment a week before and rearranged my day to be there. I am severely disappointed in Jackson Hewitt and their underwhelming professionalism. I would not want a woman like that doing my taxes.

We have used Jackson Hewitt for the last 13 years and have always been satisfied. My complaint this year is the price. We are retired, filed a short, easy form and were charged $225.00 (with a discount). I asked about the $49.95 they have advertised everywhere and was told we weren't new customers and didn't qualify. I should think after 13 years of doing business with you, you could do better than this. Very disappointed.

Always Fast friendly service and Ann always responded to me within 24 hours or less, I was able to qualify for an anticipation loan which came in handy, hands down the best experience filing taxes I’ve ever had, they also offer remote service which I needed this year.

First of all, I am a loyal customer for more than ten years and senior citizen. I made an appointment today at 2 pm, and had to wait until 4 pm for the tax preparation. Thus, the waiting time is poor customer service. Afterwards, the management refused to give me a discount, even though this year there were less forms used and I had a 30 % coupon, which they emailed to me. He/she claimed last year, I was given a larger discount since I owed taxes. This is a ridiculous lame excuse not to give a discount. I highly recommend NOT to use Jackson Hewitt for your tax preparation. They are just rip offs, especially to senior citizens and loyal customers.

We had an appointment to have our taxes filed. We arrived early. Not long after our arrival, another lady arrived after us. She was served before us. When I set up the online appointment, they were for 1 hour intervals starting at 1:30. Our appointment was at 2:30. There was no option for 2:00. We were racially profiled. We were there before her, and she did not have an appointment. This will be our last time using Jackson Hewitt.

I walked into the office with my head down worried about my taxes and Ms. ** offered me a cup of coffee and told me to have a seat and let her see all my info and went to work. My day changed for the good.

I went to them for the first time for 2024 taxes, the girl was extremely friendly and did well to explain things, but I had called before I went in and asked how much it cost to get my taxes done, told them how I was filing and was told it was $49. I got in there went through the process and was charged $167. I had been paying only $50 at another place, but was trying to find someone closer to home, big mistake.

There was signage everywhere about their promises and guarantees and they were nice as he sped through the auto e sign. They charged 238 DOLLARS and promised many times it would be fine. No mention of a possible third party denial. They will NOT help or budge and really don't care how calm you are about not eating for 2 days and taking a credit hit because I can't pay my card back. They sent me over to talk to another store where the lady said I shouldn't have signed. The world slaps you down enough. I was already down and the kick to the face was unbelievably harsh.

Tax professionals are great do a good job but Jackson Hewitt is doesn't. Their care team don't care about you. Yesterday I went, got my taxes done and always got a advance. This year they are advertising advance but they are not letting you know that it a loan and there underwriting involved so when you go in for advance be prepared to not get it. Jackson Hewitt should be more upfront about their advances and advertising that it based on underwriting criteria not just your refund next year so think about a different place to go.

Had my taxes done at Jackson Hewitt today. They took me to the cleaners! 1st they promised an advance of 1/2 my refund. 2nd it was supposed to $49 for Fed and $69 for state. They charged me $379 and gave me a debit card for the advance and refund. 12 minutes after I left I get a text saying I didn't qualify for an advance. I called and asked to cancel the return or at least refund most of the outrageous fees. They said NO! I'm on Social Security and they robbed me! She wouldn't even show me the fees until after I signed. STAY AWAY from Jackson Hewitt! You won't get an advance and they will take away a big chunk of your hard-earned money.

I’ve been filing with Turbo Tax for 5 years 0$. I tried going to Jackson Hewitt for my 2024 tax returned just for the no-fees advance money they offered. After completing everything my due fees were up 780$ for filing with them and I only have 1 job with 1 w2. Turbo Tax is 0$ for filing. The amount from both came out to the same amount there is no bigger amount is all the same.

I have been trying to fix my 2021 tax returns for 2 1/2 years now. They completed my taxes, incorrect both state and federal and it has been a living nightmare. They are so inadequate and you are just a drop of water in a pond that never goes dry. I have had many many promises and still no results. They don't tell you that the guaranteed refund advance has special conditions or may not even happen till the end and it's too late. I was under the impression I would receive a portion of my refund that day, at the end when it was already filed they say "if approved it can take 48 hrs". Well before I was home on my 40 mi tax venture I get a text denied and they say I will get a letter in 30 days saying why.

Have been filing with them for years. The only complaint I have is the price to file the taxes. Yes I have two dependents but I only ever have one W-2 and have never had issues with my taxes so I don't know why it cost so much to file. And yes I could do it myself but I enjoy going to Jackson Hewitt because of the early Christmas loans. One I need money in a bind and getting money early was no fee. Also, the employees are always very friendly and the office is always very clean at the Lawrenceburg office. I would recommend seeing Caitlin. She's awesome!

My husband (Army war veteran) and I (Federal Retired Employee) used Jackson Hewitt Tax Service for our 2023 income taxes. When we went in I told the woman "that ours was not a standard tax form. It would be complicated.) We were assigned a "tax expert" ha, ha, ha. Again I told them that this was going to be a difficult tax form, that we were not the average tax forms. And we were told 'Oh this girl is an expert'.

They are the worst. Someone stole my sister money from there. We went to the IRS and they said it’s nothing they can do since they sent the money out. Called Jackson Hewitt and told them. Now the prosecutor in The Bronx supposed to be investigating and we still have heard nothing back. Mind you my sister has a one year old and she was pregnant at the time. Nobody should go to 3532 White Plains Rd. Jackson Hewitt. They have nothing but scammers working there.

The actual process of completing my tax return straightforward, it was the problem generated when the IRS sent a letter questioning my return and I was missing a schedule that has been a problem. 1st, try calling them and NO ONE answers the phone. They must just let the phone ring off the hook, I've tried calling 50 times. Then, I got their main office involved and communicated with their Ocala office who told me they'd file a response and a week later nothing, so I'm back to calling and calling again with no response. I'll file my OWN taxes next year!!!

I went to JH for my 2022 taxes and had a fantastic experience. Went back for 2023, had a different representative. I owed the IRS and the rep told me I could give her the $ and JH would pay it. I then found out the bill for the service was double what I paid last year. Yes, I could have said never mind, but I believe to get good customer service you should be a good customer. Found out the clerk entered my state and federal contact info incorrectly. When I called JH they told me I had to fix it myself. This info included my son. It was a mess. They half fixed the problem, I fixed the rest. I asked for a refund at this time, and was blamed for there being an issue, as if I had entered the info! Fast forward to earlier this month, I received a notice from the IRS that I owed them taxes. I immediately called JH, and it took days for them to call me back.

I was charged $400 to get my taxes done. Short form. Very simple. My father went next door to have his taxes done. $150. Same simple form. Where does Jackson Hewitt get off on charging $400 for a simple tax return? What a Joke. I will never take my taxes there again and will advise anyone who does not to.

This the third year I had suffered with a horrible experience with Jackson Hewitt. The waiting, the calling, the run around, the inaccuracy is insane. Had my 2023 taxes done (once again trusting that this time will be better) starting at New Hope office with Cierra on February 2nd, after that, ZERO response. After multiple calls & them telling me to get my returns and bring them to another office, told them NO ONE is there OR responding. I ended up having them completed at the Broadway office. TODAY is June 20, 2024 I received a “CORRECTION” letter from Mn Department of Revenue. After paying close to $500 (again) I was informed I am getting hundreds of dollars less! (State refund was $1080, according to Melisha D. updated refund? $281!!!) I feel I should be Refunded my money back for all the hardship I am going through with Jackson Hewitt! I feel I shouldn’t have to pay for the mistake I DID’NT MAKE. I will leave a Google Review.

Terrible! I went to them to do a re-file of my 2021 federal return. They botched it so I owed the IRS an additional $4,000 in interest and late fees. The local office I worked with promised me compensation but they’re now doxxing me. Tried to get help on the JH chat but they are refusing to assist because they say I did not file my original return with them. It makes no sense!

I filed my taxes in Jan. They double charged me, which I entitled to a reimbursement. It is June, and I've not received anything!! I never was helped, just got the runaround. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THEM. THEY HAVE JUST LOST A CUSTOMER!!

This company is a complete fraud. They promised to reduce my tax burdens to pennies on the dollar. In fact I get hit with the more penalties and interest and had to pay more. I negotiated on my own with the feds and with the state and got a much better deal. Don't use them.

We went to Jackson Hewitt for 2021 taxes. We had the taxes amended because the preparer missed a form. She only amended the federal this year. We were sent notification we owed 2203.00 to state she neglected to amend. Jackson Hewitt refused to help us. They could have negotiated with the IRS on our behalf and or gave the fees owed due to their error. They won’t return phone calls and when we saw a gentleman by the name Sam he said nothing he could do, just pay it!!!

I would give negative star review if could as 1 star is as low as I can go. They charged me $300 and only did 1/2 job. When realized they'd lied to me about sending off, went back to Springfield TN office and employee there told me that her manager had put in mail herself to make sure got sent off.. yet ANOTHER LIE! I did my taxes myself for free and wound up owing Federal so I thought I'd go to professional and have them to do it and hopes of a better result. Not only did I get the exact same result as doing it myself but she tried to charge me $350 that's almost as much as I owed in Federal. And what was the worst of all is that she did not give me my driver's license back! She did call a couple of times but I was at work and unable to answer the phone.

Preparer was thorough and very helpful. Spent extra time helping us sort out expenses. 5 stars for prep. However, got letter from IRS stating that there was an error on the return. No response from preparer, emailed, called, left voicemails. We need this corrected! Our state refund was reduced by over $500 because a crucial document was not submitted. Husband and I both in wheelchairs with significant medical bills. In our circumstance, the state gives you credit, if you meet their criteria to make modifications to help you retrofit your home. There is a certificate that has to be included, it was not. No response!

I applied to Jackson Hewitt tax resolution after having an IRS problem. I went through 6 different case managers in 2 years. I wound up with an amount that doubled my original amount. I can't move forward financially.

I used Jackson Hewitt to prepare my taxes for about 4 years straight while I was traveling for work. The year I had an issue I had worked in three different states. Jackson Hewitt only filed two of the three states and as a result, one of the states did a commissioner return and decided that I owed $2,000. The commissioner return was filed in 2019 which falls under the umbrella of the no worry guarantee The Jackson Hewitt offers and that I paid for. Because they didn't file that year I didn't receive notice of this return and the fact that I owed $2,000 because that state didn't have my current address.

This office did not enter all the tax liabilities that should have been assessed. They did not provide me a copy of my return in detail. They did not help me in obtaining tax docs over their website. After making an appointment to picks up docs they made me wait for over an hour and one half on two different occasions. They also provided with a copy of a check by another client. Their Dist Manager did not return phone calls. They did not provide details on how fees were assessed before or after paying them over $1000 for three years of tax returns. The corporate office was called and they provided no solution to their problem.

On February 5, 2024, I went in person to the Jackson Hewitt located at 645 W 23rd Street in Panama City, FL to file my personal taxes for 2021, 2022 and 2023. I spent nearly 8 hours with Representative ** whom appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs while in my presence. Ms. ** was very slow and slurred her words, taking much longer than usual to process my tax returns. Approximately one month after, Ms. ** called me personally to inform me that there was a discrepancy on my 2021 return related to a 1099 form. Apparently, the employer's name listed did not match the IRS records. I provided her with the correct information, she then proceeded to tell me that she would fix such issue and call me back. She did not call back.

Definitely overpriced, it’s not advertised that a prep fee would be $450 partly because it’s the final day. So confusing, something just isn’t right. Very pleasant preparer, don’t get me wrong but that one-hour scan and enter numbers appointment doesn’t add up to the amount charged. I’m just not sure who I should call.

I had my simple taxes prepared and filed at Walmart with Jackson Hewitt was there maybe 25 minutes and they charged me $599 and I owe the IRS but get a return from the state. I have used Jackson Hewitt in the past but will never use them again. Was told that cause I had a 1099 and a W2 it cost more to have taxes done.

They scammed me a few years ago. The preparer lied to me saying if I used them, I'd receive $50 that day. Of course the $50 was never received. The surprising part was when I called the 1-800 number, they just kept bouncing me around even transferring me back to the preparer that lied to me in the first place. It was even advertised on the walls and on their website. I ended up paying over $850 on my taxes that year to Jackson Hewitt alone as their fee. I used to believe in having an expert do it instead of contributing to a way cheaper app cutting jobs of preparers. Today I filed free on H&R Block online.

We waited until last minute; HUGE mistake. Charged us $500...was 300 last year, 225 year before. NEVER AGAIN! Let's stop throwing our $ away to thieves, for one hour work, people! I talked to a tax pro friend, too late, she said she would do it $200. SHEESH. I hate getting robbed by these crooked corps.

Excellent and extremely convenient service located right inside of Walmart. Staff is knowledgeable, professional and truly care about the client. Truly appreciate how serious they take clients' privacy regarding their data. Unlike many other companies, they have great protection and do not sell taxpayers' information like TurboTax does. I see many people complain about fees, but they are actually very fairly priced in comparison to other tax professionals/companies.

Not surprised to see I'm not the only one who got completely burned by this shady establishment. Read the bad reviews, they are legitimate. Some people don't complain but TRUST ME. You will be paying HUNDREDS of dollars more than is reasonable here. I don't often (ever) leave reviews but my experience was so bad here It has become one of my side objectives to prevent people from falling for these "legal con artists." Imagine trying to do business with a bandit in his own capital city where he makes all the rules, you'll get charged 5$ for a banana and it's the same here at Jackson Hewitt. 1-800 steal-your-refund would be an appropriate phone number for these guys.

I had a great experience with Yvonne at the Inverness office having my 2023 income taxes done. She was very friendly and took her time to explain everything. I felt she was very knowledgeable. Job well done!

I used Jackson Hewitt in Chalfont, PA for my 2021 taxes. I was charged $500 for federal, state and local tax returns. I was told that my 1099 was not subject to state tax. Unfortunately the person who did my taxes relocated the office a few towns away. I should have driven the extra miles. There was a closer office in Lansdale, PA and I used them for my 2022 tax returns. They charged $780 for the same services and insisted that I pay state tax on the 1099. I shouldn't have. This year I used TurboTax and was charged $89.00 for the federal tax return and did the state and local on line myself. I did it all in 1 1/2 hours. Don't make my mistake and ask for the fee schedules in advance. I'm not a big fan of TurboTax but it's better than being overcharged.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM! They charge me over 900 to file a simple tax return! The crazy part is they never told me how much it was going to be. Also, they messed up my taxes because the lady spelled my name wrong when she had my driver license right in front of her! Because of that it took over a month to get my return back and I had to go back and get it changed! I will never use them EVER again!

Ben was a great help! I decided to do my taxes last min and stopped by Walmart on Talbert avenue in Huntington Beach. Ben got right to it and helped get everything started. It was a quick and easy process! I was also pleased with the results! Truly recommend Ben!!

I had my taxes done in Bellingham, MA. My first impression was that the office was filthy. The rug looked like it had never been cleaned, there were marks all over the walls. The woman I worked with did not seem like she knew what she was doing. Twice she had to call a coworker over to ask questions. The coworker had dirty fingernails. When she was done she said I would be getting a refund from the state for $3,000.00. I was so happy because I am a senior citizen with a limited income. When I got home I opened the package she gave me and I was shocked to see a voucher saying I needed to pay the state $3,000.00. When I called her to question this, she had me holding for 10 minutes then said she would call me back. She never called back and my calls have not been answered. Never do business with this company. I am not even sure if she actually filed my taxes.

This was my first experience with Jackson Hewitt and never again. The tax pro that did my taxes was so unprofessional and he didn’t go over anything with me when I came back to pick up my tax documents but was quick enough to charge me $399. I did a drop off. I never paid this ridiculous amount at H&R Block. When I came back when my tax returns was ready, the Tax Pro was more preoccupied with his texting conversation than paying attention to me, the customer in front of him. I felt hurried and nothing was gone over with me . And the papers he gave me wasn’t neatly done. He just stuffed everything in the folder and papers were sticking out. Very Messy like a toddler. The worst and I mean the worst Tax service I have experienced. I am going back to H&R Block next Tax season because at least they sat down with me & went over things and I was never charged more than $200.

My old man who did my taxes, didn't disclose to me that I would be charged a fee to have the money deducted from my refund. His hands shock and he rambled on about nonsense. I thought that he was going to start spitting up and fall out of his chair. I know old people have bills too but to work in your late eighties is stretching it. It was my first and last time with them. I had a bad feeling when I sat down, I wished that I had listened to my gut. The devil in an old man's body. I am just glad that I won't see either one of them in heaven because they are going straight to HELL and that won't be long because they are as old as dirt now.

Terrible work, I am a 62 yr old man with a 63 yr old wife and we are both Retired. Went in to do my 2024 taxes with our SSID 1099 forms. The agent never mentioned that we also needed our 1099r forms too. So we went ahead and file our taxes with just our said forms. And never did our 1099r. Forms. Now we went back to see if we can file our 1099r. that the agent never mentioned for us to bring. They wanted to charge another 150 dollars for the 1099r forms that he forgot to mentioned. I told them I was new to my retirement and that they should have mentioned those extra forms that I needed 1099r. I will never used this company again. I will used a company that is more experienced and knowledgeable on all forms of taxes needed to get the most out of my refund. Beware of people working in suit for this company. Very unprofessional. Sad.

We had our taxes done in McMinnville Tn by representative Kim ** and she was wonderful. She went above and beyond when my son’s tax return was rejected. She contacted the correct people to get the issue corrected and his taxes resubmitted. She was very nice and professional. I would recommend Jackson Hewitt and representative Kim ** to everyone that is needing a professional tax service and an efficient one that is willing to make sure the customer leaves their appointment feeling confident that if an issue arises it will be taken care and quickly.

I was flat out lied to. I paid several hundred dollars to have my husband's taxes done and filed. Well it was for several years' worth and I assumed it was done. I call the IRS on something and find out that none were filed and I need to get copies again and resubmit. I call the one that I paid it at and since I was not married to him during those years I paid for I can not pick up the returns, only him. I ask did he have to go to the Dunn office where I paid and was told, "No, he can go to any." I ask, "Will this have a fee involved?", and I am told, "No. It will be free." I called the Jackson Hewitt number by getting it from the computer, not the Dunn office.

We use the Walmart Jackson Hewitt. Absolutely great experience! Delora always takes care of us every year! Would definitely recommend using her. She definitely knows what she is doing! We will be back next year.

Worthless. Fill out your entire tax form and then they will refuse payment with a credit card so you are forced to pay double to have it taken out of your return. Tried multiple cards; called my banks, they never even tried to post the transaction. Simply refuses anything you put in to force you to either fill it all out again with another provider or pay double once you in there. Total bait-and-switch.

I paid $500+ to have my simple income tax done by this company. I was not given a paper copy of my return. No one ever told me that I needed an online acct. I went to the office to ask how to acquire a paper copy. They told me to create an online acct. I had to use someone e else’s email to get an acct because it kept messaging my email acct is initially acceptable. After using someone e else’s email, then they sent me several several verification code. None worked. Eventually, the site told me I needed to revisit in 2 hours. The entire time an employee just stood there. Eventually, some other employee asked how he could help. Well, by then, it was too late, so I decided right then and there I no longer am returning to this company for my info e taxes next year. Certainly, I can pay $500+ to a certified CPA for my no deductions, file single, simple, simple, simple, simple, taxes that most likely can be calculated in less than an hour.

I went into the Ben white location after a failed attempt at H&R. I had multiple w2s for multiple years. Erica ** was working alone for the day and it was past lunch. She helped a lady before me was was just praising all the help Erica had been. She was awesome! Not only was she able to help me..pretty quickly. She also helped a walk up client with a language barrier! All with grace and a smile!!! Best customer service ever! Thanks Erica!

This company steal and cheat, they will advertise 50% off preparation and then only give 30% and try to fool you into thinking that they’re giving you the right amount. They are very expensive for no reason. The boss lady on the fool is a freaking thief. The tax preparer is very nice and helpful.

Showed up at 8:30am for a 9:00 am appointment. I left at 9:15 am because no one showed up? I'm at the Walmart in Glasgow Kentucky and there is no number for me to call. You would think they would be a number for somebody to call or a weigh to let people know that they're not gonna be there.

Screwed our taxes up, admitted it was their fault. We purchased their guaranteed package. They cost us thousands and have not honored their guarantee. Will never use again. We have got nothing but a runaround in trying to get answers. A total waste.

I filed a simple return, electronically, Feb 8th. As of 3/29/24, no refund. No IRS letters, no nothing. I call my local place who look into it. Apparently the IRS and Republic Bank and claiming different things about my account. Meanwhile, I've been evicted, not having that money. Lost my car ins. Thanks JH! Worst 800 I've ever spent.

Robin in the Bessemer City location is the best tax prep I've ever met. She always has your best interest at heart and is there for you. I highly recommend you go see her. She is always taking care of my family. If I ever need documents she has them waiting on me when I come in the office. She will get you your top refund amount. She is there for the people. Out of any office I highly recommend you go to hers.

This was our first yr with Jackson Hewitt. The lady that did our taxes, Lori was so friendly and courteous! We had a few minor snags but she worked thru them quickly and with a confidence that put us at ease. We will definitely be back next year!

They scheduled an appointment on a day and time that there was no tax preparation at that location. I traced nearly an hour in inclement weather to keep my appointment because I made a commitment, I waited 15 minutes and called and was told that location wasn’t open today. This is extremely poor customer service and unacceptable! I am beyond furious!! I received multiple confirmations regarding this appointment that didn’t even exist????
