Went to Jackson Hewitt likening do every year. This year was a complete disaster. First they couldn't do the state return because obviously they didn't have the right software so I had to keep going back every week until they could finally do it so then I'm waiting on my federal for forever only to see nothing is changing on the website just said processing so I finally talk to a federal employee who says that I have to send in additional info. I should receive a letter between now and three weeks so she's telling me there is a form that should have been sent eww with my taxes that wasn't. I'm super pissed. I will be doing my own taxes next year although I've been coming to JH for over 5 years!!!

This is the 2nd year I have used Jackson Hewitt and it will be my last. Over a $7,000 refund and only a $1500 advance. We can't register the American Express Serve card because an email was never sent and we cannot get anyone on the phone to find out how to correct it or to find out if the rest of our refund will go on the temporary card. Like many others we have children and bills and really need the extra money right now just to make ends meet, get caught up, and make sure we have transportation to get us back and forth to work to support our family the rest of the year. To be a top rated company they have poor Customer Service and are about to lose a lot of customers!

So disappointed. The worst first experience I have ever had with a company. I haven't ever used a professional tax preparer, but some things happened and I needed to get my refund back quicker for a fee through the refund advance offered by Jackson Hewitt. I set an appointment for 2pm at Arab and I was there on time for my appointment. I was under the impression that the representatives at the booths are actually the ones preparing the taxes, apparently this is not the case, so my information had to be sent to someone else to file and I had asked about the refund advance and wanted to make sure that I would be able to get paid today as I have a bill I need to pay.

The rep stated that wouldn't be an issue and said that the tax preparer would be done with my taxes within an hour or so and would call me to sign paperwork and to get the card. I waited around till 4pm and still hadn't heard anything, so I went back up to the rep and she explained she was having issues with the technology. No big deal, but would have liked to receive a call about it so I could decide next steps. Rep stated that she could take pictures of my information and send it to this person. I asked at this point where this person is located because I am very much in need of getting this money in hand today, and she said that this other rep is at the Guntersville Walmart and that this rep would actually be able to prepare the taxes to be filed.

So I drove to the other Walmart and had explained the situation to this new rep and she tells me as soon as I get there that most people that have the card actually have funds within a half hour of activating the card, so again telling me I would be walking away with money in hand even though it was almost 5 at this point and banks would be closing. Elizabeth was the name of this rep and she was super sweet and relatable and we discussed life and why I was in the situation that I am today, again I have said repeatedly that I need to have this money today and that is the only reason I would be using a tax preparer instead of doing it myself.

So the appointment goes off without a hitch and even though I am not getting as much as I thought I would, at least I have enough to pay said Bill and that in the end is worth it. I was taken back at the amount that was charged for the prep and asked if that was standard for a tax return, because 179 sounds a bit steep when you are advertising 48 for federal, but again, I was in a rush, so I would pay the fee and deal with it. So Elizabeth got everything filed and started printing the paperwork and did not bother to go through and show me any of it just stating that the paperwork is unnecessary.

Once everything was submitted and she pulled out the card she tells me that I will be getting a 100 gift card and that the amount of taxes would be loaded on the card, and only after all was said and done she said that it could be on there tonight or it could be so much as 21 days for it to be on this card that I received, but that it could take even longer if I got declined for the refund advance and at this point tells me that the refund advance is not a guarantee and that it could take longer to get the refund, even longer than if I had filed online, which we had discussed previously.

I am very defeated at this point because I thought I would be getting more back, which I had dealt with, but flat out being lied to, multiple times by this rep was absolutely unacceptable and when she sensed my distress she stated that she gave me 20% off of the fee because of the inconvenience of having to drive down and wait and all that, and that a way to quick money would be these referrals that if I tell friends, family, or even strangers. She stated that if I stood outside of her booth and gave people that walked up this piece of paper and as long as they filed their taxes with her that both the stranger and I would get money from it.

This bothered me even further as I had expressed my dislike of the tax preparer trade as the fees to me are outrageous. Needless to say I will not be returning to this establishment, ever. Furthermore, I will be reaching out to corporate to have the refund that was filed with them to be cancelled. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any business.

I did my taxes at Jackson Hewitt. Got approved for the advance on February 2nd. Here it is now February 21st and I still haven't got the advance but I got my taxes. Now I am fighting with the bank to give me a check. They said they sent one and I told him I didn't receive it so they put a stop payment on it and sent me out another one. Still don't got it.

We filed with Jackson Hewitt this year. When you file they give you documentation that tells you all of the fees and such they take out and you sign it saying you understand and agree. I added up the fees to know what I was getting back and also looked at the IRS website. I am missing 400+ extra dollars that can't be accounted for on any of my documents that Jackson Hewitt took out. If they were hidden fees then they aren't listed on our tax forms and we paid nearly thousand dollars just to file with them. Either they legit stole money from us or neglected to list all of their fees. Either way it's completely unacceptable.

I am a 2nd time returning customer with Jackson Hewitt. I am extremely dissatisfied with their performance this time around. I had an okay experience with the actual appointment and the staff was rather friendly. But I have had issues with my return. I filed 22 days ago and still do not have a date for my return. Not only do I not have a date I have a code 9001. When I called twice to speak with them about it they said they could not look into anything unless I received a letter from the IRS. So why did I pay them over 400$ to prepare my taxes? Not to mention 2 days after I filed I went to go back over my return and noticed they put the wrong last name on 1 of my dependents. So I called them and they reassured they fixed it within a day. Not so confident that they fixed it considering I can’t pull up any of my information on the IRS website. I will be calling tomorrow. I will never go back to Jackson Hewitt again. It was an extreme waste of my money. Very disappointed.

This was my first time ever filing with Jackson Hewitt and I hate to say that is not worth the refund. Preparer barely spoke with me as he was inputting my information. I had to constantly stop him and ask questions. He also told me that all fees and repayment of loan would come from my federal. I filed over 21 days ago and still havent received a date as to when my federal taxes will arrive. It's still processing. I just learned that my entire state would be taken but wasnt aware. Almost everything they advertised wasnt true.

Jackson Hewitt charges a tremendous amount of money for filing almost 600 dollars, that is totally overcharging customers. They also advertise you will get your deposit as soon as it is received by the IRS however it is then held by Republic Bank. In addition they advertise get your money 2 days faster which also does not take place. This business should be investigated to the fullest extent. 600 dollars for efile is robbery. Last time filing with Jackson Hewitt. One star is too much. They deserve a big x.

The lady filed my taxes wrong. Like a 1099 when I own the business. Three years no problem with small business, first time with big company and got audited. It's a year later and no help from Jackson Hewitt even though I got the gold guarantee!! They are a joke and do not know what they're doing. I will be looking into filing a lawsuit against them!!

I just had my taxes prepared and filed by Jackson Hewitt. I am a return customer, but never again will I have their services again. I was qualified for head of household, and they didn't give me the credit, and didn't know till I filed. They say they will give you the maximum refund but that is a lie. They say they will give you $100 if not the most refund back, if others get you more credit, that is a lie. All based on my experience. They say, as well, they base your loan off of your return amount, but again, that's a lie.

I don't do cash loans or payday loans or credit cards or anything like that. I don't owe people money. I work and take care of my 2 boys, and I'm not qualified for them to take some cash out of my refund and give it to me. The tax prep person didn't even tell me of any services offered, let alone the 2 loans available. Guess I'm suppose to be a mind reader and see that they rip people off and scam them with their lies. They lost me as a customer. Last yr they screwed me out of $50 for referrals and being a new customer... Guess I shouldn't have went back. Was hoping they fixed their issues, but sounds like they keep getting away with their scamming.

I am so annoyed with the runaround with Jackson Hewitt. Called on 2/11/2019 to ask why my state refund was "in review". Preparer said they would call by end of day... No call. I understand that the office may be busy so I call back today as they STILL haven't called me. Preparer says, "I see there's a problem with your state return. I'll call you back in 30 minutes." Hour later... No call so I go into the office. Manager tells me she is in the phone with tech support trying to figure it out. I waited for an hour for her to tell me that they are going to call her back in a few days with a resolution... Not acceptable.

I call their National customer service number and I'm told the IRS stopped by STATE return. Made absolutely no sense to me because they deal with federal returns. Call IRS, they say they didn't stop anything and assured me that in their system it doesn't appear that I owe anybody anything so there would be no need to stop my taxes. They also told me that my federal was accepted and being processed. Call corporate back, different person says "IRS typically doesn't deal with the state"... He also tells me that whatever the issue is it's up to the tax preparer to fix it... Call the local office back. I have to wait for the manager to come back to work but she'll be in touch with me when tech support is in touch with her. Unlike most other complaints I was satisfied with the fees and the refund advance... But the runaround in why my state return is in limbo is totally unacceptable. How are you even a manager if you don't know what the problem is?

I went into the Ripley Ms office to file my taxes. They were suppose to open at 9, it was about 930 when they finally showed up. Then I had to sit there another 15 minutes while the one lady cleaned out her purse, and text. They finally go to doing my return. The whole thing took forever because she didn't know what she was doing and kept having to call the main office for help. She asked me if I had health insurance for the year, which I did. My fiance filed his own taxes but needed a copy of his previous year return that this same office prepared last year. He drives all the way up here for a copy, gets back to work and they have printed him off the wrong copy. I called and tell her this and she's gonna argue with me she didn't even though I had a screenshot in my hand to prove she did. Then I guess it pissed her off I proved her wrong. She's gonna try to charge me $25 for the right copy.

The 3 times I've gone in the office she acts and looks like she's stoned out of her mind. They never open when they are suppose to. You always have to sit and wait. They got her handling other people's money. I had to call another location to have them fax the copy to us. Fast forward to mid Feburary and the IRS website is still saying no info avaliable about my return, so I call them. Apparently the "preparer" and I use that term loosely was suppose to ask for a copy of my insurance proof and send it in with my return. There is a hold on my taxes. I call Jackson Hewitt and mind you none of them including the corporate office is worth anything, They have to file an amended return all the while telling me this won't cause a hold up of my return.

I call the IRS and they tell me that this kind of error will have an 8 week hold on my return!!! No apology from Jackson Hewitt no returned calls or emails from corporate. They hire these bodies in to handle people's money that know absolutely nothing about tax prep, make enormous mistakes on clients' returns then don't take blame for it. I will never let Jackson Hewitt touch my taxes again and I suggest everyone go some place else so you are not in my situation. Paid them $330 to do my taxes only to have to wait 8 more weeks on top of the month and a half I've already been waiting. Beyond upset.

Charged me $339 and couldn't even spell my name right. Now I'm the one who has to make another trip, probably another wait and hope they can fix it. Don't leave the place without checking their work. After an hour wait and another hour getting the job done I just wanted out of there and didn't check the paperwork they shoved in an envelope. My name? Are you kidding me? It's on my driver's license, the form they had me fill out and the tax documents.

We used JH last year and were satisfied with the services. Skip to this year, we go to JH in the Muskegon Walmart. It took the guy 4 days to finish our taxes. He moved our appointment to another store and then forgot our folder so we could not finish. He tells me to come back the next day, so I do and he tells me he hasn't finished mine yet because he has other appointments. He calls the next day and says we need to come in and sign again. My husband stops to sign after work and then I go in later to sign and she tells me it's still not finished because the preparer has left for the day and he has to sign as well. He is also off the next day. After all that they charge us over $700. For our incompetent and unorganized tax preparer! I requested someone from corporate office contact me. Still nothing. Never again.

Updated on 03/01/2019: Continued from last comment... Come to find out IRS sent me a letter and Jackson Hewitt messed my address up on my taxes!!! Please everyone don’t waste your time going there. Go somewhere else. They will screw your taxes up!!!

Updated on 02/27/2019: Called them a couple days ago. The lady told me they were releasing more refunds Wednesday and still as of yet nothing back. Called the IRS and they tell me my taxes under second review. I’ve never in my life had this much trouble with my taxes. Back to H&R Block next year!!! Hope they going to return my fees due to it’s been way longer than 21 days since I filed. Even though I filed the 23rd and they didn’t send in till later. I really want to speak to corporate about this issue!!!

Original Review: I went and filed my taxes with them last Month. Come to find out they didn’t actually file my taxes to the IRS til 2/12. I filed them way before the 28th of January. So why the heck didn’t they file them to the IRS when they were suppose to. I’ll never in my life go back and there was 6 of us that went there and they won’t go back either. Then you try to call them and always say that nobody in the office or helping a customer. They a terrible company. I want my tax forms back and file somewhere else. They so bad!

I'm so disgusted with the misleading and horrible tax specialist. They tell you no fee small loan then charge a fee. Charged me over 600 for one W2 to be filed. Talked to them a few days ago and they told me my state refund would be available today. So when nothing was showing on the card I called 3 different #s to get answers. Then I find out they took it to pay for the loan. So since when do these loans get deducted from state and why didn't your representative tell me that. Instead I was told it got deducted from the federal. So they either don't have answers or they just simply tell you what you want to hear. What a joke. I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICES AGAIN. THAT WAS THE FIRST AND LAST TIME. WAY TO GO JACKSON HEWITT. Y'all blew it completely. Not one good review this year and they're all saying the same thing. Not a coincidence!!!

I am so tired of getting overcharged for what they are doing. I have never in my life had my state taxes taking because it came first. I was depending on that just because I have child tax credit. I was only getting 300 for state but right now I needed that. I only get paid every 2 weeks and when I contacted them they said it was policy I signed in office. No one told me nothing about it. Said all fees would come from federal. They didn’t even print out my paperwork in office. I will take my service elsewhere next year and I believe because of the leading on they should reimburse everyone their fees.

They claimed that I was get a refund of 8,300 but then I was turned down for the rapid refund loan, I got nothing! Not even $200. WTFH? And they charged me almost $600 to do my taxes. They said it was more expensive because I had 2 W-2 forms. WTH. I will never use their service again.

I was introduced to these crooks a couple years ago. I liked them because I was able to get the advance loans. This year has been a real nightmare because I always qualified for the max loan amount I chose to continue doing business with them. So to my total surprise I was charged $500 for taxes and fees. I wasn’t informed I that I didn’t qualify for the amount they promised to give me of $3500 and I only received $1100. I am so upset because I was super behind on my bills and I prequalified with the same job information. I hate this experience and will never deal with them again. Ever?

WE DON'T EVEN OWN A HOME. Proud military member who was charged $400 to file a simple return (2 W2 forms). NEVER AGAIN, FIRST AND LAST TIME!!! People are ruthless and heartless these days. Don't believe the hype! File your taxes for free on military installations or online. Yeah, you'll wait the 14 or more days, but at least you aren't getting burned by your fellow American. One star is too much.

So after all said and done, we paid way more than just the little $49 or whatever it is to file. I understand state was more also... But in the end to be charged $490 for the person preparing my taxes and not to tell me... is BS... We were under the impression that we only paid what they advertise up front nothing that high. And to say, "Oh you were a Walmart employee you got a Walmart gift card for $100." Well that still doesnt cover the fact in total that this was almost $600 if you add the Fed and State to her stupid fee... So highly upset. It's not even funk... Feel like that we have been ROBBED!

Well I start off by saying Jackson Hewitt is trash, you guys have took advantage of people in a huge way, knowing people really could have used the tax loan. The prices are outrageous. I personally was approved for the $200 loan then I was sent an email saying once I receive my W2 I could receive the other $750 so I was excited. Once my W2 was placed in the system I was denied the remaining balance $750 but I was already approved. I need answers. Why are you false advertising Jackson Hewitt to make a comeback.

What are you guys going to do for the following years because it seems to me you have lost majorly of your customers due to false advertisement and $$$ are outrageous just file simple tax returns. I really hate I had to give you guys 1 star. Worst experience I ever had. Even after I spoke with customer service about not wanting to file with them any longer they told me it was too late. I really need to speak with someone from headquarters. Justice needs to be served for the people in crisis.

Go in yesterday, 2/2/2019 to file my taxes at the Jackson Hewitt in Walmart, Clarksville, Tn. After waiting 5 min for the very unfriendly middle age ** man to even notice me I see the ** an equally unfriendly woman on the other side finish up with someone. I walk around to her side, she ask if she can help me. I tell her I have a 3pm appointment to file my taxes, so she gives me a paper to fill it out and then wait for her to continue to attempt to dump the paper from her shredder, which by the way she has been dumping since I walk up. When she finally able to complete her difficult task she then begins asking me question, and after a couple minutes begins to put my info in to the computer.

Once she starts laying out all my w-2s of which I had 5, and I have already told her when she was questioning me, and I had also written on the paper she gave me, it seems almost as if she was thinking of ways to get out of doing them and suddenly says,”Oh just to let you know, because of the multiple w-2s this could cost you up to 300,” and I say, ‘Well in that case don’t even worry about it.” She thinks seems a bit surprised and says, “What? Are you sure.” “Oh yes I am sure.” She say ok and kind of just shoves all my paperwork at me. After reading the sign on her desk stating that if for any reason you start filing and decide later not they will pay you 50. I figure that’s why she so quickly decided to hit me with a ridiculous fee.

Well that and the fact that the open jar of cheese dip and chips on her desk seemed to indicate I may have been interrupting snack time. After reading the other reviews here I now understand why she seemed so surprised that I declined their outrageous fees. I also received the email saying I was pre approved for an refund advance loan 1450 without a fee or 2000 with fee. I mentioned this to her so I am sure she assumed I was desperate enough to agree to 300, and while I am struggling I cannot see paying that much and after reading that most people were later denied I am SO Thankful I passed.

I go to JH every year to file taxes but after this year I will no longer do so. I had lost my card from the previous year and called and had it cancelled. Then went and filed taxes and got a new card when I filed my taxes. They tell me all details and about loan. I never got a email about the loan. I got a email to set up account even though I set up the account and it says active. When called CS it says not active online and my info is incorrect. I still haven't received email for loan after being told I was pre approved in store... I called JH about my card and got told call the company. Well when I do that it's a automated machine... No way to explain what's going on or get answers... Very frustrating. Disappointed this year for sure!

I had brought my pay stub in and was told I qualified for 200 but if I waited until I received my W-2 I was pre-qualified for 2500. I waited and in 2 weeks I went back to the Jackson Hewitt in Madisonville KY Walmart with my W-2. My husband had left me and I was losing my home so I was very much depending on the advance I had been told I would receive. The woman did my taxes said I would get back almost 5000 and she issued me a American Express card and said my advance of 2500 should be available in about an hour.

I contacted my landlord and told him I would have my payment in by that night. I waited 2 hours and then received a notice period email stating I had been denied any advance at all. I went to the woman that filed and asked why she would tell me I would receive this and charge me over 400 to do my taxes if I couldn't get back an advance at all. She was very rude. Said she can't control that and I explained she had assured me this was not based on credit and I was pre-approved. The woman said, "Well I guess you weren't" even though I had an email that said I was as well. I have now two days before I lose my home and I'm sure I will lose my car too. I can't believe they overcharge you and lie to you like that. I am devastated and homeless soon! These people are HORRIBLE!!!

So I made an appointment online for 6 pm on the day I received my W-2. I got an email thanking me for changing my appointment date to the next day at 6 pm. I did not change my appointment so I called. The system rescheduled me because all of the tax preparers in the office I go to where on sick leave due to the flu besides one. I ask if I can go to another JH. They tell me that is fine. So the one I was going to go to didn't answer their phone so I went to the one at Walmart on Towne Blvd in Middletown. The lady there assures me it is no problem. She has me and my husband write our socials down on sticky notes. I tell her my w-2s are loaded to my JH, and she asks me what that is.

I am sure it is just a language barrier so I keep trying to explain. Then she tells me she cannot use my JH and I need a paper copy of my W-2. Can I just send it to her personal email address. I reluctantly agree wanting to get this over with, but she can't "find me the system" so an hour later she puts me on hold so she can do another client while she waits on a return call. We are done at this point. Collect all of our stuff. Go to the JH we normally go to. The computers are now down. We wait almost another hour to get for it to be our turn. The lady there is very kind, funny, and knowledgeable. I feel like I should have had a discount on my services for the problems we experienced.

I feel like more should have been done than an, "I am sorry," though. And I really feel after talking to a lawyer that something should be offered to me to monitor my credit after an employee took personal information from me on their private email address. Next year I will just file myself. At least then, I will be able to use my documents correctly and safely.

My husband has worked at the same company since 2016 tax season. 2016 Indiana county taxes were figured in and paid in... 2017 they were not. Which caused for a refund which we should've never received. I have had 3 other CPA's look into this. They all agreed it was done wrong and now needs to be amended. I bring this to the attention of the lady that filed our last year in Harrisburg Illinois and she has the audacity to tell me to stop harassing her. Well since this costly mistake will cost me interest and penalties I think they should have to cover it.

They will take your money for a 100% guaranteed accuracy claim but yet when an issue arises due to the lack of knowledge on tax laws it's all the sudden not on them... Mistakes are ok. What's not ok is when the person flat out doesn't want to take responsibility for the mistake. So I believe in my heart this 100% guarantee accuracy is a false advertisement to grab us and suck us in. Believe me never again. I have a feeling they will not take responsibility for this mistake and I will just have to pay someone else to do the amendment for me.

I've used them before and like everyone else I went in for the advance. At first I was approved for two hundred dollars then when I got my W-2 I was approved for twenty-five hundred. Great. I received it but I've received several letters from Metabank saying my return isn't complete. I've called the office and was assured it is nothing. I'm hoping they are correct. Now I'm waiting on the call that says they can do my state taxes because right now they don't have the software. IDK what that's all about but they need to hurry up and get it. I want to be done with this tax season already. Mark assured me that he would call me back when it's time but I've never had to do or pay for my state and federal separate. I don't like the back and forth.

JH charge an additional fee of $49.00 that goes to JH on top of a fee of over 200.00 for filing. I got a refund of $300.00 as they are taking more than half the refund! They are soliciting a JH American Express card by telling customers, "you receive refund 2 days early." 1st off how do I know if I actually received a refund 2 days early? They don't tell you that the 800 no behind card is just a recording and no live person to answer calls. They don't tell you about Amex upfront fees $15.00 initial fee and over $10.00 or more just to withdraw funds or use card, they tell you receive an answer if approved/denied for the Amer Ex card in 24 hours but I didn't receive answer in a week! JH couldn't answer any of my questions.

JH doesn't answer calls and you will receive a recording, line is busy, call later or refer to H&R Block or some other tax service! JH got so many dishonest claiming you will receive refund sooner by setting up a fake American Express card and it's all in dishonesty and rip offs on how JH can make even more $ off their clients! Beware.
