I have been buying cars for 30 years and almost all of them have been Hondas. I have always loved the vehicles and their performance. However, my recent experience with Honda Financial Services after a total loss accident was so awful that I will never purchase another Honda again. After my car was declared a total loss, Honda Financial Services turned the process into a living hell. There was zero coordination between Honda Financial Services and their own HondaCare Gap coverage. I had to upload more than 10 documents that should have been sent directly between companies instead of forcing the customer to chase and resend everything. They took weeks to send a letter of guarantee to my insurance company, which delayed the payoff and kept the account open longer than necessary.
During this time, Honda Financial Services kept demanding monthly payments on a car that no longer existed and repeatedly threatened to report me to the credit bureaus if I did not pay. I ended up paying two extra car payments after the total loss purely out of fear that they would damage my credit, even though they already had what they needed to close the account. No one showed any concern or urgency about this, and no one took ownership of fixing the situation.
Progressive, my insurance company, was the complete opposite. Progressive sent me copies of every document they sent to Honda, so I knew exactly what had been provided and when. For example, Progressive mailed the settlement check on November 12. Honda Financial Services told me on November 26 that they had not received it. That was not true, because the HondaCare Gap team had already received that settlement, processed it, and paid off the gap portion. If the gap team had the funds and completed their part, there is no reason Honda Financial Services could not have closed out the account instead of forcing another monthly payment. It felt like they were delaying on purpose, with no consideration for the customer.
Throughout this entire process, I contacted Honda Financial Services many times. Not a single representative ever apologized. Not one person told me they would try to make it easier or look for a way to help me. Every call ended with the same empty line that the process was underway and that I had nothing to worry about, while their actions showed the opposite. It was clear they just wanted to get me off the phone, not actually resolve anything.
I have written letters to Honda and to multiple complaint departments within the company. No one has reached out, no one has acknowledged the hardship, and no one has even bothered to say that my complaint was heard. The lack of empathy, accountability, and basic customer service from Honda Financial Services is shocking. Because of this experience, I will never finance through Honda again, and I will not buy another Honda vehicle. I am filing this review with Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, and any other platform where I can warn others. My advice is simple. Do not do business with Honda Financial Services if you can avoid it.

I really didn't have a problem with the financing of my Honda. The problem arose when I tried to get a lien release from Honda Financial Services so I could sell the car. I spoke to was friendly and accommodating customer service rep he and assured me the lien release would be sent via email. I did receive the release with the wrong customer's name, which was useless. After numerous subsequent calls, I received the second letter by mail which didn't have the notary seal. Also, useless!
After speaking with another member of customer service, she indicated the only way to really get the lien release was to go online to their lien release site and pay for the document. I did follow her advice and received the correct letter in 4-5 days. However, during the interim I lost the buyer for my car due to the weeks and weeks of dealing with Honda Financial Services. Bottom line, if your policy is to make people pay for the lien release, be transparent from the onset. Why make a customer jump through these ridiculous hoops trying to get the release. This was one of the most absurd things I have ever experienced.

Bought a Honda CRV Hybrid on late April 2025, less than 3 months my car got totaled. I paid my GAP insurance in full while buying my car. Even after paying all my money by 1st of August. I still am struggling to get my GAP refund back on 3rd of November 2025. They have good staffs at FLOW but worst service whenever you need to get stuff back. They don't really care. 4 months later they tell me that they are not the ones but the Honda Finance, who I have to talk further. They did not even inform me! Such irresponsible act. HONDA FINANCE on the other hand did not contact me, have wait times for hours!!! I will never recommend HONDA. Very irresponsible for their service.

It is a actual dog fight to try to pay these people. To pay this month I signed into a website that was blocking me from making my payment so I went to a divergent way used the phone system which hung up on the at first, then I got two added charges just for paying. I don’t even want to give them a single star here!!! Honda Financial is a horrible company and I don’t recommend them at all to anyone. They have no empathy towards customers in a hardship. I was out of work due to knee injury and got knee procedure done. I was not able to work and I did let them know my situation. Once I went back to work and ready to pay what I was behind, they repo my car without giving me a chance to pay what I fell behind. They denied to give me assistance and did not allow me to get my car out. This is not right!!
I called them many times and spoke with different people who denied me to speak to a manager that could escalate my concern. Finally, after so many calls, I had to put my foot down and made it clear I needed a manager that could assist me. According to the manager, after my car been pounded a week, I was told by this manager he could have helped me but it was too lat,e according to him, because my car was getting auctioned. I asked him, in just one day, this is impossible.
I was very upset and told him I had been trying to speak to a manager since day one for assistance and no one would let me speak to one. At this point, I lost my car and very upset that Honda Financial does not help their customers keep their car and I see this as they are cons for stealing customers' cars and not helping us at all. If someone please knows where I could report this, please advise. I don’t want them to get away for something I did not refuse to pay. I want my car back. It’s not fair, they didnt want to help me in any way. Please advise.

i’m never the type to come on here and write a review, but I thought this should be well known before someone tries to do what I did and get put through the same thing. I initially got charged double for a car payment which first of all I’m paying $600 for a lease which is a 2025. I am enjoying it and I appreciate Rosh Honda in Westerville, Ohio, Otis, and the team are amazing people. Honda Financial on the other side as a whole is terrible. I got charged over 1200 for one car payment and so I called to ask for my money back nicely as I always am and it took them a week. So I called back nicely again the next week and asked where it was after I was told the refund had been put in the first week I called back and it was never even put in for me to get my money back.
I’m finally just now getting a check sent to me in the mail and I have bills to pay. When I spoke to a girl she said they would be sending it to me rapidly because it was their fault. They charged me double and getting me my money late. I’ve been waiting almost a whole month for a car payment that I need returned to me. I’ve been struggling to pay bills because of Honda Financial not returning my money quickly like they said they would after taking double car payment out.

I like so many here will tell you DO NOT USE HONDA FINANCE! They are simply impossible to deal with, the customer service staff are all very well trained to sound very sorry and apologetic but they do absolutely nothing to help, and if you want to contact financing, you have to actually mail them a letter, that's right, a mailed in paper letter, simply unacceptable in today's technology and the fact that in a court of law, emails, even text messages can be used. If you ever have any issue you will get absolutely nowhere. I will finish my loan and never purchase another honda ever again, and will be sure to tell my friends and family just how horrible they are to work with.

This was a nightmare. Charged late fees when I was on autopay over a week before due date. They reimbursed the fees only after I called and said it was a system error. I have been on auto pay entire length of lease and when I bought car. Multiple recalls on Honda HR-V 2021 more than my 2012 Nissan Rogue ever had. Then, when Honda HR-V was totaled, it took the finance department over 10 days to give a quote for payoff to my insurance company, yet still charged me a fee for monthly after getting payment from insurance that paid off vehicle. Still fighting to get my money back over a month later. Never ever will I recommend Honda finance to anyone and made sure my brother didn't even buy a Honda last month; instead spent 60k on a Jeep with better financing.

This financial department sucks. I will never deal with them again. I reported them to BBB. Runnnnnnn! The reps know nothing. They couldn’t even get an email right that I had to send documents to... it was more than one rep. The lady I spoke with who claimed to be a manager, didn’t even care that her employees had little knowledge. The reps said they were their own “leads” and had no supervision at first. Beware. It is sad, Honda is a big name…. These people are ruining it for Honda.

Buy a Honda, but DO NOT USE HONDA FINANCIAL FOR FINANCING. They are impossible to deal with if you ever have a problem. We have leased / owned Hondas for decades and in each case if we ever had an issue it was always with Honda Financial. Currently they say we owe taxes on the previous car we leased - ?!?! Out of the blue we owe taxes!!! We no longer have own or lease the car but they are sticking us with over 700.00 or turning us promptly over to collections. No help, no appreciation of our business. We are devastated and very ticked off. We will continue to write bad reviews about them and will strongly admonish NEVER EVER EVER sign on with Honda Financial. Buyer beware.

In the earlier years of my life, I leased Accords, and every time I went in for a new lease, I would tell the guy, 'Listen, I know the trick.' Before you put any plates on a car, I would like to know the exact price. Please speak with the financial manager now. Every time was a disaster. My 80 year old father who has his second Civic with them, this one leased, was just repoed out of my driveway in NJ at 3 am and no letters were served, claims of phone calls, and the guy on the phone was so rude, dismissive, and said it is up to Honda to determine if he gets the car back. According to the UCC in NJ, they are required to return the car as long as all payments have been made.
I'm hearing horror stories of complaints about them and the difficulty of getting cars back. They are trying to take advantage of an 80-year-old man. They picked the wrong guy. I will take them all down if they continue to play games. I know the law; they have to give a 15-day notice, served personally or by registered mail, and if it is the first default, they have to return the car. I don't have either, yet they are giving me the runaround, saying they are looking for the car, and only Honda will make that determination. Not the law; they want the car because the mileage is so low; my dad drives very little. The amount of corruption is unprecedented.

I would never get a loan from Honda Bank again. I make extra payments on the principal, but tell me why my payout amount goes up instead of putting my full payments to the principal, so that means I get taken extra interest on my principal and interest on my monthly payments.

I have contacted Honda Financial Services 6x in the past 2 months trying to obtain the Power of Attorney form to change my leased car registration to SC. Every time I call, they say they will mail it out (priority), never arrives. When I call back, all they say is I can send another one and make a note on file. Based on my records, there should be at least 4 copies of this form in my mailbox by now, and still nothing. I have received several other bills, flyers, etc, from Honda to my address without any issues.

Honda Finance is just ridiculous. THEY HAVE NOT REPORTED TO THE CREDIT BUREAUS IN OVER 8 MONTHS!!! Last time they reported was Aug 2024 and this is late July 2025... nearly 9 months. To make things even worse, my loan is PAID IN FULL, but the credit bureaus report that I still owe over $4,500!!! I called them TWICE to get the problem fixed. I send them a letter with all the details they asked (confirming what THEY KNOW, that my account has been paid in full). It has been > 30 days since sending the letter and NOTHING. This is totally unacceptable. I did my part of the deal, and Honda is NOT doing theirs! It is directly impacting my credit and my chances of getting a new car, as the Credit Reports still show this as an open loan. It's been nearly NINE MONTHS without reporting to the Credit Bureaus. Totally ridiculous. Honda has great cars, but their back office support team has much left to be desired.

Honda promises that you are family. We have owned numerous Hondas since 2007 been Tier 0 customers. I will never buy another Honda! We are done! I will be picking another reliable brand. My husband and I have major trouble that were beyond our control. We sold two vehicles and kept one vehicle to ensure we could make the payments. Never missed one Honda payment! Due to the other payments we did miss on other items, Honda punished us and refused to finance us again after telling me verbally that we were family when I specifically called them and asked. I called and complained about the dealership and how we were treated.
A month after the visit to the dealership, my credit was ran by Honda Financial and I received a letter denying me from Honda Financial. That salesperson is no longer working for that dealership. I was told by Honda Financial to go to a different dealership. No dealership will speak to us. This was the 4th Honda Dealership in Pennsylvania that has been ignorant in two years. We are done! No excuse! They need to get better employees! If someone is tier 0, has owned 7 Hondas has a record of this, then this should count for something when buying a vehicle.

Honda Finance is absolutely ridiculous. They have NOT reported to the credit bureaus in over 80 days. The last time they notified the credit agencies was February 21st. This is June 4th. It looks as though I have not made a payment since February, which I HAVE made my March, April and May payments. The balance I owe is not correct. I called them to get the problem fixed and all Sandra did was offer a letter stating I’m up to date on my payments. She claimed a manager is not readily available to talk. She has to put in a ticket to have a manager call me. This isn’t the first time they haven’t reported my payments and offered to have a manager call. The last time I NEVER received a call, but they finally updated my payments only because I called and complained. This makes me look BAD. I make all my payments every single month on time, if not early. This is unacceptable. I won’t purchase another Honda. It isn’t worth it.

If I could give Honda Financial Services negative stars, I would. I needed very simple documentation from them to be able to transfer my NYS registration from the previous lease I turned in with Mercedes to this one, which has been leased in my name the last year and a half; it was just registered to someone else on the account who since turned in the plates. I was misinformed on the proper documentation I would need to show (told a printed version of the title should suffice), and when I went to my DMV appointment was turned away. I was unable to get another appointment until a week and a half later (thus, needing to spend additional funds to rent a car).
When I called Honda Financial Services immediately after being turned away from the DMV, I was informed that they could send me a certified copy of the title and permission to register in NY immediately (via FedEx Overnight), so long as I could provide them with a FedEx account number. I created a FedEx account solely for this purpose. It’s been more than a week, and I still haven’t received my documents, and every time I call, I’m told the department handling it (which is a mysterious 3rd party service that no one can provide me information on) CANNOT be reached via phone, and that they can only make a note on the account for me to be called since they work off of in internal project management system. I was told the same about trying to speak with a supervisor (they can’t reach one or transfer me via phone, only notate on the account that one of them has to call me).
I have not received call-backs from ANYONE. This is NOT the way to run a business, let alone a corporation. I’ve called minimally twice a day, every day, with no resolution or logical answers. If those documents are not in my hands tomorrow, I’ll have to reschedule my DMV appointment AND spend EVEN MORE money to extend my rental. I’m disgusted and irate about the abhorrent manner in which this company handles customer service. And I’ll be sending them a bill if it’s not handled.

Nick stated that the fee charged to Honda Finance is from my bank and that I am responsible. Stating that "I" made the mistake, that there were several attempts that "I" made to make a payment from my account with insufficient funds. He refused to listen & to be of assistance.
I requested to speak to a manager, Nick stated, that I did not need to speak to a manager & that my wants and needs are 2 separate things. I just need to vent and warn anyone thinking about financing with Honda Financial Services: DO. NOT. DO. IT. I financed a car through them—nearly $50,000, paid off in full after 4 years of ON-TIME payments. Not one missed or late payment. I was the model customer. And yet, almost TWO MONTHS later, I still don’t have my title. I live in Minnesota, and they keep fumbling. First they said it wasn’t sent to Washington—why that matters, no idea. Then they claimed it wasn’t processed at all. And now? Now they’re saying I have to pay extra fees to request a duplicate title. Excuse me? You lost it and now I have to pay for it?
To make it worse, I waited 3 DAYS just to get a call back from a rep. And when they finally called, all they said was it’ll take another 4 WEEKS to request a duplicate title. Four more weeks. After two months. After four years of loyalty. Are you kidding me? This is some of the highest-level incompetence I’ve ever experienced from a financial institution. Their system is broken. Their communication is trash. Their accountability is nonexistent. Their customer service is a complete joke. So here’s the gripe: Honda Financial Services has the poorest, slowest, most useless customer service I’ve ever had to deal with. If you’re thinking about financing through them—don’t. You’ll regret it when you need anything beyond paying your bill. I’m beyond done.

I am writing to formally file a complaint against Honda Financing for their unacceptable handling of my account, lack of communication, and the distressing impact their incompetence has had on my life. My experience with Honda Financing has been nothing short of disastrous, leading to financial loss, emotional distress, and even personal tragedy.
In December 2024, I purchased my leased vehicle using a Navy Federal car loan. However, Honda Financing failed to process the check due to a missing signature. I was never notified of this issue and only discovered it when I inquired about my title. As a result, my payment was marked as 30 days late, negatively impacting my credit score. I sent another check in January that was lost by USPS. The third check I specifically asked how and where to sign and mailed it over to them on February 10th. I called all week to see if they received the check.
On February 24, 2025 I was finally told they received the check, however it could not be cashed once again. I spoke with a representative named Grady, who was extremely rude and unhelpful. (I want you to investigate and review this call because he was absolutely terrible and caused me an anxiety attack at work) He incorrectly claimed that the check I submitted lacked a back, despite Navy Federal confirming that they had processed the payment and had a complete copy of the check with an actual back with my signature and their endorsement which allowed them to process the payment on their end. Grady dismissed my concerns and demanded an immediate payment of nearly $1,300, threatening repossession of my vehicle. Under extreme stress, I complied, despite already having paid the full amount through Navy Federal.
The next day, I was able to get both Navy Federal and Acura representatives on the line, who then acknowledged that the payment had indeed been received. However, this oversight led to severe financial hardship, as the extra $1,300 payment left me unable to pay essential bills, including rent, and prevented me from celebrating my daughter’s birthday. The emotional and financial strain of this situation led to a miscarriage on March 1st, 2025.
Adding to the frustration, Acura processed a refund for the incorrect payment but issued a check without a back (ironically this is what they said was wrong with my lease pay off check). When I contacted Acura, they assured me a corrected check would be sent. However, despite repeated follow-ups, I was given misleading and contradictory information. On March 10, 2025, I was told the check had been approved and would arrive within two days. As of March 13, I was informed that the check had not even been approved yet. This continued incompetence has had devastating consequences on my finances, credit score, and emotional well-being.
Due to Honda Financing’s negligence, I lost the opportunity to purchase my first home, suffered a 60-point drop in my credit score, and experienced extreme emotional, physical, financial distress and loss. My family has been loyal to Acura for over 30 years, and this was my first financed vehicle. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in Honda Financing and Acura.

I called multiple times...Today after 4 years of getting the run-a-round I took the Lien to the tax office-was told that Honda should have given me the Clear title back in 2020-over 4 years ago when I paid off the vehicle.
