    Goldco's buying process is pretty standard. I didn't think they were better than their competitors. It wasn't a huge standout. It was more of a timing issue. I was just ready to make a move, and I've been in contact with them more. However, they were promoting more of converting and buying gold when gold's price is high. It's more of a sales thing like, "I don't want you to lose out. It's gonna keep getting higher," and all that. So I converted it pretty high, and now gold is low. So that was just a tactic. But my overall experience with them was good.

    My husband and I were looking to purchase metals to fund our Traditional IRA account. Through research on the Internet we selected Goldco. We worked with Zeve Katz to make the purchase and Simone to handle the administrative end of things for us.     I have been the victim of a scam by Goldco!! After rolling over my IRA in 2021 and a further purchase in 2022, I am now - after consulting my Accountant, finding that the Premiums I was charged by Goldco were excessive (84% on gold and 152+% on silver)! The industry norm, I am finding is 3-7% on gold and 10-20% on silver! What a soaking!! Then to top it all off, when requesting a buyback, I am charged a spread of 39%!!!! Whaaaaat?!?! The normal spread is 3-7%!!!

    Now upon requesting a review by Goldco and an adjustment based on industry norms, I have been fully ignored by ALL parties from the President down to Customer Service! Please note - do your research!!!!! It is almost impossible to get ANY emails or phone numbers of anyone who’s works here once you discover a problem. I have been over a month trying all manner of contact and get no one - typical scam behavior! Don’t fall for the smooth talking and telling YOU what to buy and at what price when you want to do business - they are literally “Banking” on your lack of knowledge and will only be steering you to line their own pockets!!!!

    Goldco is the quickest way to lose half the value of your 401K.. Read the full disclosure of my deal on Tim ** customer review (YouTube) 3/2/26 reply. They reduced $53,500 into a $28,080.00 value. 18-1/4oz bald eagles at $2.185.00 ea./charged me $39,330.00. 40- 1oz Washington Monuments at $277ea/ charged me $11,080.00+ 9 more as free bonus listed at $0. 1/21/26 Gold Spot was at approx, $4,800. Theirs=$8,740.00 per 1 oz. Silver Spot was at approx, $78.00 per 1oz. Theirs=$277. No way I could ever get my money back at their crazy premiums.

    We have been trying to get someone to get back to us about liquidating some of our funds. It has been over a month. It has never taken this long. We need the funds now but nothing but recordings of how busy they are. We are retired and not going to be buying into this. So is that why we aren’t as important to deal with. Not good customer service.

    I feel like I was lied to throughout the purchase experience. When I ask Goldco what my account is worth, they send me the "retail value" knowing they will never pay that back to me when it is time for buy back. The buyback amount is significantly less. So, yes, they are stealing your money. They lead you to believe you are making a lot of money but you are not. Goldco is making more money on your account than you are. Now I ask for a buyback amount and that isn't even truthful.

    It has been over 2 weeks and Goldco has not responded to my calls and emails. Don't be like me and fall for Goldco. Goldco is a predatory scam posing as a metals sales provider, taking advantage of surging interest in metals. I am 2 years from retirement and gave Goldco 25K, money saved over a lifetime of work. After fees and the 78 % premium they took from me for the gold I bought and the 60% premium Goldco charged me for my silver, GOLDCO TOOK 14K FROM ME. THE VALUE OF MY ACCOUNT, AS SHOWN ON MY STATEMENT THE MONTH AFTER MY 25K PURCHASE, WAS 11K. At the time, I was going through things in my life and did not scrutinize the statement. They will not return my calls.

    When I went to Goldco to buy bullion I was steered into purchasing gold coins at a premium of 81% and silver coins at a premium of 151% although this was not immediately revealed to me at the time. Now almost 4 years later evidently these coins are not nearly worth the outrageous premiums that I originally paid as Goldco is stalling to buy back the coins. They did offer me a low ball price to buy back the coins which in my opinion is disgraceful. What happened to the coins being so much better than buying bullion? Had I purchased typical bullion, I could have purchased approximately an additional 3.5 oz of gold and 1,360 ounces of silver.

    Complaint against: Goldco Precious Metals, (Goldco Direct LLC), 24025 Park Sorrento, Suite 210, Calabasas, CA, 91302. I have recently discovered it appears that Goldco has learned to circumvent IRS guidelines when it comes to pricing gold and silver coins. I had learned about Goldco from a promotion on a television network and rolled over a 401(k) into a precious metals IRA in May 2023. Senior Account Executive Michael G. certainly seemed friendly enough during the entering of this transaction. He was well aware that I had limited knowledge about gold and silver coins. I told Michael that I was looking at investing in gold and silver bars because I did at least know that bars had a price correlation tied directly to the spot price. Michael advised me not to get bars, and advised me to get coins, saying they would be a better value. I thought maybe because they carried a face value.

    I asked Michael which coins would I be getting and how much they would cost, which he replied he did not know, he would have to see what they had in stock. I thought he would be choosing me coins that would still be regular bullion coins relatively equal in price to bars. Michael then asked me how I wanted to split up, or allocate my IRA metals. I told Michael that I wanted to do a 50% gold and 50% silver. That is the last I heard from Michael. Michael then proceeded to use my IRA money to pay for coins that he chose without ever contacting me first to tell me which coins they were, and how much they would cost. In my contract I recently obtained from Goldco, it states in general that the customer will be contacted first, and it will be their decision on what coins they choose, and if they choose to accept the purchase price. I did not consent to this as the transaction was already completed without my knowledge.

    Had I been contacted on what coins were being purchased and at what cost, because this was a direct rollover, by law there is no specific time period before incurring any IRS tax penalty, this would have given me time to research or consult with others if this was a good purchase, but I was denied that right, and I certainly would not have purchased them. I have also come to find out I did not even get my requested 50% gold and 50% silver allocation, but Michael changed that with an unauthorized asset re-allocation to a 25% gold and 75% silver allocation. I also could not check the transaction in my Equity Trust account because the funding was not yet completed. It was also drilled into my head that when I did see the account value in my Equity Trust that it would be lower than the amount that I paid because it would only show the spot price. As I stated earlier, I was a novice in the valuation of coins.

    At the end of December 2025 when I was going to make some changes to my IRA account, I got to questioning my account value shown by Equity Trust. I have found AI is very helpful in gathering much information in an expeditious manner. I started doing the math and realized of my $30,000 investment I only had about $33,000 in there, although gold had doubled and silver had tripled since the time I did the rollover. After further research and reading the many complaints on the Better Business Bureau, Trust Pilot and Consumer Affairs I realized I did not get the intended regular bullion coins, but some kind of Goldco “exclusive” coins. Michael G. knew that I wanted to purchase gold and silver correlating to the spot price, and although Goldco would like to sell “premium” coins, they do not have the right to change the intended purchase of the customer, especially without their knowledge.

    The coins they sold me came with a rare coin numismatic markup of 86% for their 1/4 ounce gold coins, and a 192% markup on their 1 ounce silver coins. Because of this extreme and severely high mark up, as well as not receiving my intended purchase, they shorted me as of May 9, 2023, approximately (6) 1/4 ounce gold coins and (574) 1 ounce silver coins. In December 2025 Michael was very attentive when I texted him that I wanted to make some changes and possibly add to my IRA, but a few days later when I realized what was going on I asked him for a written account valuation to be sent to my email, he told me I would have it in three days time when we were scheduled to talk again.

    I then texted him that I would like a breakdown of the cost of the coins and the markup on them, as well as a buyback offer. He texted me back saying there is no fees on their precious metals, of course there is, if that were true, then they would have sold me the coins for the spot price only and no markup. I never received anything in my email in those three days, nor did Michael call me back at our scheduled time. I then received two calls from customer service wanting to talk to me about questions I had even though I didn’t have any other questions, as I had already told Michael what I wanted and I was waiting for the email from them. Customer service then texted me on January 14th, 2026 that all valuations and buybacks were put on pause until January 16th.

    I then texted customer service and told them Michael had already put in a ticket for me on January 5th to receive a valuation and buyback on my coins, and when they sent that in writing to my email then I would be happy to talk with them. I then sent Michael a text and let him know what I perceived to be happening. I have not heard a word from Michael since then. Customer service never did send me the email, so I was forced to call them back. When I called I got an automated bot taking my information and telling me someone would get back to me in 2–5 business days, that was 16 business days ago. This is an investment account, on their website they say if a customer calls that they can get immediate help, it has been over a month of stalling or no response.

    It also appears they do their best to avoid giving anything in writing, as their agreement states they will record the final transaction of your purchase, but they may or may not be able to retrieve any recordings. I see Goldco revised their customer agreement in July 2022, since the beginning of 2023 there have been a surge of complaints against Goldco on the BBB, Consumer Affairs and Trust Pilot. The majority of five stars relate to entering into the process of starting up an IRA, and the majority of complaints relate to the loss of investment and exiting the company. There is a pattern here, and enough complaints claiming deception, fraud, misleading sales tactics, heavily inflated prices, and high pressure, unethical marketing to older, vulnerable investors. This should be enough to warrant getting the attention of the CFTC.

    At the end of November 2025 Tucker Carlson did an interview with Battalion Metals relating to exactly what Goldco is doing, and he is trying to warn celebrities not to sponsor these companies. I worked 16 years for this IRA, this is a scam what Goldco is doing, and they should not be allowed to swindle me out of my hard earned money. My account total in my Equity Trust account should be my total investment amount, minus a small markup fee at the time of purchase, plus the capital gains since May 2023. Allegations of deceptive sales tactics and pricing, excessive overcharge and reduced IRA account value.

    This is a severe complaint regarding the initial purchase of precious metals for my IRA account on or about May 9, 2023 totaling $30,000. Based on a limited review of my purchase and prevailing market data at the time of the transaction, it is clear that I was excessively overcharged for the coins I received. The significant “premiums” applied to these products were severely inflated and disproportionate to the actual market value far exceeding standard industry practices. This overcharging directly resulted in an immediate devaluation of my investment: My funds purchased substantially less physical metal than they should have. By applying these hidden and excessive markups, Goldco effectively reduced the number of ounces of metal I should have received, thereby artificially lowering the true value of my retirement account from the moment of purchase.

    I demand the following immediate actions in writing:

    1. A Full Accounting: A complete, itemized statement showing the exact “spot” price of the metals at the time of the transaction, the specific unit price I was charged for each item, and the precise markup applied to each product, including any commissions or administrative fees. The generic custodian statements I currently receive, which only list the current “spot” value, are not acceptable as proof of my initial cost basis.

    2. Monetary Compensation: A full refund of the amount I was overcharged, to be deposited back into my IRA account to rectify the initial deception, as well as the unauthorized re-allocation of my assets, and restore my account value to the level it should have been. If that means exchanging the “exclusive” coins for regular bullion coins then so be it.

    3. Current Fair Market and Buyback Valuation: As this concerns a retirement account regulated by the IRS, I require a current, real time “Fair Market Valuation” (FMV) as defined by IRA standards. This must include the precise “bid“ price – the actual amount Goldco would pay to re-purchase my holdings today – for each item in my portfolio.

    Be advised that I have initiated contact with the Business Consumer Alliance that Goldco is listed with, and I’m prepared to file reports with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the FINRA Investor Alert System and my State Attorney General if this matter is not addressed satisfactorily. I expect transparency and a fair resolution immediately. I am currently monitoring the resolution of this matter. I will provide an update once a final, verified outcome is reached. In the meantime, I would advise exercising caution regarding any information provided by customer service.

    Watch out for these people. They tell you that your investment is going to be invested with precious medals. They have their own cut coins that are worthless. Nobody wants to buy them. They’ll offer you melt price, which is nowhere near what the coin should be worth. I had to switch brokers because after three years, which they told me I had to stay in, I’ve had a profit of $3000.

    At this point, I do not recommend dealing with GoldCo. I rolled over 2 payments of $300,000 each for a total of $600,000 from my 401K. The rollovers occurred 3 months apart. I received notice that the first assets were purchased. It took months for my second rollover to show up at my custodian, Equity Trust. During the interim, when asking GoldCo what was taking so long, I was told that my purchase was being “minted”. Then I started asking why Equity Trust only valued them half the value of what I paid when GoldCo told me it was worth double. I kept asking why the difference in value and the items purchased were not what I asked for. I received coins I had never heard of. What happened?

    When reaching out to my account rep to understand, I was told I needed to wait for three years before I could sell them. He kept mentioning the price guarantee in the agreement that I would get the “best price”. I began to get nervous so I asked for what price they would give me to buy back the assets. I talked to my financial advisor, and it turns out they sold me coins and were charging premiums between 83% to 97% above spot. Outrageous!!! Based on my experience DO NOT BUY from GoldCo. Clearly, they are taking advantage of folks by not being transparent in sharing the full pricing structure – meaning the cost of the assets + their spread/commission/margin. After having an analysis done, it turns out that I was RIPPED OFF!!!!

    Updated on 01/30/2026: I purchased my precious metals with Goldco Jan 26, 2022. Big mistake. First off I was never told what I was purchasing other than coins, and I never found out what kind until the money was transferred. I understand they have to make a profit, but what they charged me was astounding. Over a hundred percent of what I could have purchased in real form. I purchased 5k in gold and 45k in silver. It gets worse later after I found out about what I bought when I looked at the statement, they give it was half the value which is confusing as all get out. Then I also found out I had to maintain the precious metals for 3 years to receive my full price upon liquidation. This was never relayed to me. Deceptive practice in my opinion.

    It gets worse. I waited my three years and on Jan 26 called to liquidate my holdings as they have a guaranteed buyback program. Now since the time I bought silver it was 23.8 oz and when I tried to liquidate it was 111.02 oz. Gold was 5068.28 To my horror, they wouldn't take care of me they said I had to be put on a list, and a rep would call me within 24 to 48 hrs. Well 48 hrs. passed and nothing. I called again. Angrily wanted service but same old thing it would be 1 to 2 days. He said more than likely it would be Monday of next week. Today silver dropped 25 percent as of now and gold is down as well. The only thing he did was give me an email address of one of their reps and said he was good at responding so immediately I sent him an email NOTHING!

    The crickets are louder than Goldco. So, I am hostage to this company. Still no help as I watch my retirement drain down. This is totally unacceptable by any standard. If the government allows business to operate this way it explains why our economy and government is in the toilet. In my opinion DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company when you want your money, they are not responsive or dependable. They are only in business for their interest and customers are not a priority. I don't care what their response to this is unless they actually sell at the price silver and gold were at the time I requested to liquidate its all-lip service. I thought I did my research, but what I did miss was reading the bad reviews and to see how they treat the customer on liquidation time. That's where the robbery is!!

    They are terrific at making it sound like a great investment, but they don't explain the key factors, what you actually buy, how long you have to hold it, and what the actual markup on plain old actual coins you can purchase for yourself but only at a huge markup. You better know how they function especially at the liquidation time if you're lucky enough to get someone to actually call you back and buy them back as they promised. At this point as best, I can figure I have lost close to 100k in the value of my account based on the price of the metals when I tried to sell but was refused service.

    Original review: I did a personal IRA rollover back in 2022 I never really felt right after the purchase. I later found out which was never explained to me was in order for you to get the most value out of your IRA holdings you have to wait a period of 3 years otherwise they penalize you. The other thing was it was never really explained to me that I would be purchasing silver coins that were overpriced by the market standard. Where these prices come from, I'm not sure because I couldn't find them priced anywhere near what I was charged. The statements you get are confusing to say the least. One of the reasons I am leaving a review is I wanted to get an evaluation on what my account was worth.

    It took two weeks to talk with a rep and he was rude pretty much told me that if I wanted to buy, he would help me but otherwise to call the customer service and as I started to ask a question, he hung up on me. They did send me a statement of the retail value which looked good. So, I called again to find out what the actual value of cash out would be. They told me a rep would call me back in a few days!! Really you're dealing with people's life savings here. You would think they would be responsive, but they are not. So, I did some research on customers cashing in their accounts. That's where Goldco gets low ratings. They reap big profits, and many are disgusted as they are losing money they will never get back.

    I think at this point I am prepared to be big time disappointed whenever I get the true value of my account. When I purchased slightly over 50k silver prices were 23.80 an ounce now last I checked asking price is 93 an ounce that is a tick over 275% increase. The silver coin on the market that they sold me is worth 105 as of 1/14/26 the gold coin they sold me is worth 1127.63 as of today. That makes my actual value more like 95k but they say my retail value is 172500.00 I know I will be in for a big shock when I finally get the actual cash value.

    I will update this in a few days once I know. People that have been hoodwinked need to remember the BBB takes complaints, but they rarely resolve anything. You need to make your complaints to the Federal Trade Commission. They do take that very serious enough complaints and they could lose their license and this practice of overselling and under delivering will change. More to come.

    The Must-Read Review of Goldco, Calabasas, CA www.goldco.com. Goldco defrauded the majority of our retirement comprising of silver. Our account aggregate return over the past four years should have been over 200%. How is it our account total show only an 18% return?! After purchase and doing research, we realized we were charged an extreme markup on the silver sold to us, which amounted to silver markups as high as 162% above spot!  BUYER BEWARE!

    Their entire business platform appears to be based on deceiving clients. At the time this transaction occurred, we relied on the representations of our sales advisor, whom we trusted. Instead, Goldco put the company's interest first gaining for itself HUGE profits while we were left with immense long term losses! Goldco's sales strategy engages in deception and price manipulation. They absolutely cannot be trusted. Efforts to obtain a buyback quote on assets have been met with one stall tactic after another. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GOLDCO!

    Tinvested 3 401(k) accounts with Goldco. I was given the marketing speech about a guaranteed buyback. I just recently called Goldco to ask for a buyback price and after me calling numerous times, was told they could not give me one for 2 weeks. (I called Dec 2025 and was told to call back on Jan. 16th 2026 for a buyback price). That is unacceptable, that price should be given at any time when asked. What they did give me at the time of my call was the retail value.

    When checking with another precious metals company, I was told that the silver that I have with Goldco is inferior and not well known also that I was not given the full amount of gold and silver that I paid them. According to current prices at the time of transfer I was way undersold the gold and silver due to a 189% premium overcharge. I do not trust that Goldco is being honest with how much they initially gave to me and that they are hiding my buyback price at this time. BUYER BE AWARE!! Goldco is a scam

    Thanks to Tony ** my claim has been satisfied. My GoldCo metals account presented a dissatisfaction from the beginning of opening my account.     I am filing this complaint because I believe Goldco misrepresented the true cost and resale value of the silver and gold I purchased in a self-directed IRA rollover I contributed $135,961.26 my entire account, believing their materials and representatives were honest and transparent. I started my IRA account on 4/11/2023 when silver was at a much lower price. John Vadset sold me on "WE the People" specialty coins which I did not want. Instead, I was charged $71.45 per ounce for 1 oz silver coins overcharged $42.49 per coin. My accountant has calculated that GoldCo stole 2,353 ounces of silver from me. Silver is now at an all time high.

    We were never given a clear breakdown of how Goldco determined pricing. When I asked, I was repeatedly deflected with confusing talk about spot price, melt value, and status none of which explained why we were paying such high markups. Goldcos account reports show it is rising in value, but only because they apply inflated internal pricing. That number does not reflect what I would receive if I liquidated. I am left with less than half of the amount of coins that I should have received and Goldco took their profits upfront the moment I signed.

    I am absolutely outraged with the deception of GoldCo. As someone new to silver investing, I trusted Goldco to guide me fairly. Instead, I was steered into overpriced products I can't resell at anything close to what I paid. This feels predatory and deceptive, especially toward those unfamiliar with the precious metals industry.

    Goldco's model shifts wealth from the customer to the company. They profit instantly, while customers like me hold long-term losses. Even with current pricing, I would not break even and would still be at a loss of 2,353 ounces of silver. I want Goldco to acknowledge this pricing model and stop disguising it as wealth protection. Future customers, especially those using personal funds, deserve transparency, not carefully worded confusion. I want full compensation of the coins they stole from me. You not only stole coins from me, my wife and children. You stole 2 1/2 years of my life waiting for my IRA to cash in. (John Vadset, Jim Assalley ,David Brein) You charged me in premium (159.25% over spot). I could have had an additional 2353 ounces of silver.

    I invested $150,961.65 with Goldco, yet my custodian Equity Trust somehow states that these assets are only valued at $83,479.45, meaning that over $82,000 in value disappeared immediately after purchase. How can that be? When I reached out to my account rep Kevin T. to clarify and get the value of my assets I was told that he can't give me the prices and sent me the transaction agreement stating that I'm required to hold the assets for three years, and that even then, after that period of time, they will charge me a spread of anywhere from 0 percent up to 29 percent??

    I am a widow and currently experiencing a serious financial hardship due to collapsing ceilings and other sections of my residence requiring immediate repair, yet even though I just purchased these assets a month ago and gold and silver have both increased since then they won't even agree to just refunding me my money and taking back the assets. Based on my experience DO NOT BUY from Goldco. Clearly there is something amiss with whatever they are selling. I don't know what I'm going to do. I've basically lost $82,000 and they can't explain why.

    Goldco Team, I am formally demanding the immediate return of my $100,000 Roth IRA funds that were invested with you in July of this year, as the pricing discrepancies on my purchases are unacceptable (see below):

    Gold: I was charged $1,460 per ¼ oz coin ($5,840/oz) when the spot price was $3,333/oz — (roughly a 60% markup).

    Silver: I was charged $104.05 per oz when the spot price was $38.18/oz — more than a 100% markup.

    I paid $100,000 for approximately $40,000 worth of metal at the time of purchase. Even after recent market increases, the total metal value is only about $56,000 — confirming that Goldco charged excessive and unjustifiable premiums. I expect Goldco to immediately reverse this transaction by refunding my full $100,000 investment amount. Thank you for your assistance!

    Goldco took advantage of me and way overcharged me for Silver Ounce coins that they said were limited mint. I was charged over $80 an ounce for coins that are worth $36. The limited mint is true, nobody heard of them or wants them. The person Darwin called me and said they were worth $97 and that was just made up. This is a disgrace, I have emailed many people and nobody called me back.

    Guys....just be careful with Goldco. If you are in to premium exotic coins...they are reasonable to work with. They'll give you a good deal and some bonus free silver too. But if you are just stacking regular bullion...the salesperson will start to deliver a high pressure sales pitch and might even become a bit irritated with you. If you are just looking to stack regular bullion....tell them this upfront before you send them your money. Then you can shut them down when they start the high pressure sales. Apparently they make their most commissions through the specialty coins which are way way above the melt price. Just understand though....no free silver with the regular bullion.

    Buyer beware. If I could give zero stars, I would. This company talks a big game, but they simply don't deliver. They will sell you gold that is mostly worthless to any reputable distributor. I checked with seven other distributors to try to liquidate my metals from my custodian and none would buy it from me. All said that Goldco sells metals that aren't of acceptable quality to most. Additionally, Goldco will stress up front that a buy back spread of 7-21% will be applied to any liquidation of your precious metals.

    I'll tell you from personal experience that the spread is randomly applied and it will without a doubt be 21%. I had to forfeit two years of returns to them in order to liquidate 65k of gold and silver. I got zero return on my 50k. Also, the custodian of your metals levies a steep annual rate to house your metals and will also hit you for commissions, shipping costs and liquidation fees if/when you liquidate. The custodian, Equity Trust, told me that they have more trusted distributors other than Goldco as part of their lineup. I believe if Hannity knew how unscrupulous Goldco is, he likely wouldn't associate himself with them. Please take heed of my words.

    I was slammed and lied to. Be aware!!!! Goldco is charging $70/ounce for silver and I was told otherwise on the phone call, I was told it was double, 2 ounces. When I got their invoice it was one ounce. What liars, don’t ever use them. I can’t get them to respond. This infuriates me as they lied through their teeth, I left messages to cancel. I’m not paying $70 ounce for silver when the identical product sells for $33.

    If you are new to investing in precious metals, then here are a couple of things that I wish I had known about Goldco:

    1. Your new order is purchasing brand new metals,
    2. You must purchase premium metals in order to get the promotional free silver,
    3. The process can take over a month,
    4. When the money arrives, the call with the rep is to purchase the metals right then. Be ready to make decisions because it will be verified within 10 minutes after that call.

    5. Do your research as the Goldco rep may say that no advice can be given, but that rep will offer you a package of metals to accept, adjust, or reject.

A lot of advertising money pushes that 10% bonus but it appears that very little if any of their products qualify.

    I had contacted the Goldco site through a recommendation from one of the podcasts that I watch. Upon going to the website and putting in the initial information requested, the next screen came up indicating that I would receive a special coin if I called the number given before the representative called me. When I dialed this number, the gentleman who answered the phone did so with "hello" only. He did not introduce himself nor the company until I specifically asked who I was talking to. I was reluctant at that time to give him any more information because I was not sure that I hadn't somehow found myself into a scam site due to the unprofessional greeting.

    Upon finishing this call, I searched up the website via search engine and dialed the number given from that search. The phone was answered in a professional manner, using name and company name. I explained why I was calling and indicated my concerns that I might not have spoken to a valid employee of Goldco, and the individual answering did verify that the individual I had spoken to indeed worked with the company. She validated my reason for feeling "leery" during the initial call, indicating that she would have also been concerned if she had called the company and gotten that same greeting that I had.

    I will say that from that point on I was extremely pleased with everyone that I have come into contact with through the experience of opening up my IRA account and purchasing precious metals. Everyone I dealt with was very knowledgeable about their part of the job and I felt confident in my experience with opening the account through the final confirmation call. I will be doing business with them again in the future and referring others.

The gold price for Gold GBR Shark 0.25oz was $920.00 for qty of 10 = $9,200.00. The Silver Liberty Bell 1oz was $71.60 for qty of 145 and Silver Mighty Mo 1oz was $71.60 for qty of 145 = $20,764.00. These prices are way over the present 1oz price of gold at $2.839.00 and the present 1oz price of Liberty Bell Silver at $25.05. The markup appears to be around 54% markup on Gold and 35% markup on Silver. I need an explanation of why we were charged so much. We spent another $50,000.00 with the same pricing on Gold and Silver. I will not be able to ever make any money on these accounts.

    I had some excellent service and some that was not so helpful. Some of this involves Goldco’s partner, Equity trust. Here’s the rundown of my experience. Goldco responded quickly to my initial inquiry. They were very quick in responding to my initial query and overnighted hard copy documents documents when I was unable to read the docusign emails. They provided a Fed Ex overnight return envelope. I appreciated the thoroughness of the application and explanation. Goldco followed up very well, open to questions.

    I found the woman who worked with me to initially contact Schwab, very professional and efficient. She made no mistakes and explained everything very clearly. My account manager, John Innes at Goldco was very nice, pleasant and called back the same day. However he misinformed on two occasions. I had questions from reading the application and was directed to him for answers. The application noted there was an initial fee for opening an account. I asked John how much. John stated there wasn’t a fee. But Equity charged me a $50 fee. John also assured me that I would only pay one annual fee even though I transferred both a SEP and Traditional IRA, which I was told needed to remain two separate accounts. John told me that no, there would only be one annual fee for the two accounts. When I spoke to Equity, they demanded 2 separate payments.

    John called me after the money landed in my accounts and asked me to call Equity and give them my credit card numbers. (I made it very clear on my application that I wished to pay the annual fees by credit card, not have any monies taken out of my account.) Here’s where my experience with Equity was not only sub par but disturbing. When I called Equity with my credit card, I was told that both the one time and annual fee had already been transferred out of my SEP account. I explained to the woman representative that was a mistake, as clearly noted by my clear indication on my application and wish that corrected.

    The woman became very defensive and told me they had done nothing wrong, that my account was “past due” and therefore they had every right to deduct the money from my account. I questioned her about that given that the money had just landed in my account that very day so how could that be past due? And why wasn’t I sent an email requesting the fees? She said the account was opened a week earlier. She would put in a request but she doubted it would be acknowledged.

    That evening in my mailbox, I found two bills from Equity, asking for the fees. They were posted on April 20, and I gave my credit card info on April 26. The due date on the bill was May 20. Obviously May 20 would be “past due”, not April 26. What was disturbing, was the woman chose to blatantly lie vs acknowledging and righting a simple mistake. I wrote John about both of those incidences, the discrepancy between the bill I received in the mail, and the woman’s accounting; and also about John’s misinforming me about just one annual fee for two accounts. Told him these simple errors were “ not inspiring confidence in the process.” John apologized for Equity and said the monies would credited back to the account but did not mention his own error, simply would have his metals guy call me asap.

    People make mistakes; I get that. Would just like them to take responsibility for that. I like John, perhaps she’s new at the job and just learning or he was preoccupied by a personal situation etc. But particular when you’re making such a large purchase, it can shake your confidence. Carl called to discuss metals. Also a very nice man, obviously very knowledgeable. He spoke very rapidly about a number of things, much like you do with someone familiar with your trade. He asked me if I had questions. I explained I was a newbie to the field and asked humorously for him to slow down a bit for me. I asked him questions or paraphrased what he said to make sure I understood, and he was patient with me. He noted that he enjoyed my asking questions and could tell I understood from my answered. He felt I picked it up well and said most people don’t ask anything. I could understand why.

    Initially it was dizzying trying to follow him. Fortunately I was able to take some notes and could then back track to review. But I know I missed some of it. I suspect most people are pretty overwhelmed and don’t ask questions for fear of appearing dumb. And given Carl doesn’t get much feedback he may feel most people aren’t that interested and see his talk as a mere formality. Again I liked Carl, as a person. People probably really know this business or they are overwhelmed. I am leaving this review as internal constructive criticism of Goldco and Equity, not as a public review. I know Goldco has a superior reputation and these are small hiccups in a well oiled machine. But I want to be honest about my experience.
