I have been a customer for 30 years. I called Customer Service today and tried to ascertain why all the other banks with direct deposit will deposit your pay checks a day or two prior to the first of the month, but BofA won’t deposit your check until late afternoon on the 1st and sometime on the second. I have bills to pay on the first and sometimes in crew extra charges because I can’t pay immediately. I called BofA customer service today and they were completely irritated with me because I asked that question. They told me if I wasn’t happy with their service they will mail me a check with my balance. Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced my life. I then contacted Golden One which was so helpful and offered me advice on how to get out of my miserable contract with BofA. My entire family banked with BofA but no longer. If you have considered banking with someone else It is so worth it.

Horrible customer service in the claims department. A merchant had to refund my money and actually refunded the money but just because I made a claim before the money showed up in my account Bank of America held my money talking about an investigation for no apparent reason. They are still holding my money and it’s been 11 days and they are talking about holding it for 90 days. Soon as they refund my money I’m canceling this bank. Plus when I asked for the number to speak with someone else besides the rude representative I was given a wrong number. I been a loyal customer since 2018 but it’s now time to cut ties.

They turned off my auto pay and I didn’t notice (hence why I use auto pay). They didn’t email, text, call, notify me through the app, mail a letter, NOTHING. To tell me I was late on a payment. Then they reported to the credit bureau I was 30 days late on a payment. Which dropped my perfect score 60+ points!! And only then did I receive a letter in the mail telling me this. I’ve never missed a payment on anything in my life. As soon as I found this out, I paid everything I owed then called the bank.

The lady told me she could see when I signed up for auto pay and that I didn’t turn it off. She apologized for glitch and was sorry they didn’t notify me of a late payment via any form of communication but then said there was nothing they could do now about the credit. All they could do was report I made my payments on time in the future. Truly ridiculous. I quickly refinanced my loan with another bank that’s been amazing and gave me HALF of the interest rate Bank of America was giving me.

My mother suffered a stroke recently and lost some comprehension abilities. She no longer could pay her credit card. I went in to a Bank of America location with my mother to explain and have a simple situation remediated. It turned out they closed her account and sent it to collections without any notice or statements. They agreed to reverse fees and take it out of collections but instead they deposited random amounts of money into her checking and put more charges on her credit card.

It took several days and meetings with the banker to get this taken care of only to have it "solved" and to find they put another charge on there. My mother has been banking with BOA for many many years and now we are discussing switching banks. This was a huge headache for us and our banker as collections made it almost impossible to work with. Our banker did everything they could, but as a whole, Bank of America is unprofessional. We called to talk to someone over the phone and ended up getting harassed.

If someone opens a credit card in your name with Bank of America you are screwed. You can't speak to a real person without the account info for security reasons. But apparently you can get a credit card in someone else's name pretty easily. Not a bank of America customer. Never will be. I'd put my money under my mattress before setting foot in that bank.

My husband and I purchased a house whose mortgage was quickly resold to Bank of America. Ten years later, he up and left me and our three children for another woman. I filed for divorce and was awarded alimony a year later. During the interim, my ex was ordered to pay the mortgage up to the date I started receiving alimony. I then received a letter from Bank of America that the mortgage was overdue. There was a number to call for more information. When I called the number, I received a recording stating that due to the high volume of calls, a service agent wasn’t available to speak to me, however, I could obtain when the last mortgage payment was made. That information wasn’t helpful in telling me whether the mortgage payments were current.

Prior to my husband leaving, the mortgage payment had been consistently made on time. A few days later, I received an anger phone call on a Saturday morning. The woman told me I had better paid the overdue mortgage payments. I tried to explain that those payments were the responsibility of my ex as ordered by a judge. She asked me if I was still living in the house to which I answered, “Yes”. Before hanging up on me, she told me, “Since you are the one living in the house, you are responsible for paying. We better receive a payment by the following Monday”! Again, I tried calling the same number in the letter, only to receive the same recording.

About a week later, I received another call. This woman asked me about paying the late mortgage payments. I explained to her that I was going through a divorce and the judge’s decision. She said I should have received a letter with a number to call to explain my situation. I told her that I had called the number, but kept getting the recorded messages that there was no one available to speak to me. In disbelief she called the number and got the same message. Fortunately, she believed me saying she had been through a divorce herself. She asked for a way to contact my ex. I told her that all I had was a phone number, which I shared with her.

But after that incident, I discovered quickly that Bank of America cares little about customers’ loyalty and are not above using bullying and intimidate to extract money from them regardless of their circumstances. In the end, my ex was made to paid the back mortgage payments. And I continued to make payments on time until the house was sold and I was finally able to part ways with Bank of America.

I am an attorney and have a small business account with Bank of America. On November 12, 2024 I deposited a settlement check from a divorce case into my Bank of America account. Before I deposited the check, I was told by the bank teller the funds would be available in 24-48 hours with what now seems clear to me to be a ploy to entice me to deposit the check. The following day I called Bank of America customer service to check to see if the funds cleared, and I was told that a 7-day hold was placed on the check "because they had information the check may be returned" (but Bank of America would not specifically say what that information was).

I received a letter confirming this from Bank of America and was told in the letter the funds would be available on November 19, 2024 even though the issuer of the check confirmed those funds had cleared their account already. I then called Bank of America customer service again and was told that the 7-day hold actually did not include the weekend so the 7 day hold was actually for 7 business days so their new date the funds would be available changed to November 21, 2024 even though I have a letter from them saying the funds would clear November 19, 2024 and the issuer of the check said the funds had already cleared their account.

When I called Bank of America customer service yet again to get an explanation for this their only response was "We're sorry, anything can happen in these types of situations." The customer service person I spoke to also said the only reason the hold was placed on the check was "because it's a large check." My divorce client waiting on these funds is disabled and medically fragile and is in dire need of them immediately and is extremely upset about this situation and blames me, but Bank of America could care less. I don't recommend a financial institution that treats their customers this way.

I was placed hold for 25 minutes each time. I assume to discourage you from seeking a live person. When I did speak to agents three different ones gave me incorrect information. I’m so sick of AI crap that never answers the questions and then being discouraged by long wait times and reps that are not properly trained. In 4 business days I have spent roughly 5 hours trying to straighten out a problem. I’m considering changing banks.

In June 2024, I turned 18 and opened a Bank of America secured student credit card with a deposit of $400 to start building my credit. I received the card, set up my online banking and used the card in August. I also paid the bill on time and received the confirmation email on August 29. I then went online to my account and was locked out of BOA. I then called the customer service line and was told that I needed to report to a BOA in person with two IDs to prove my identity in case of fraud. I made my appointment at the BOA for Sept. 25. I went and met representative showing her my IDs. She called another office on the phone that told her that the account had been closed on August 27. That office informed her that there was nothing I could do, and they didn’t even know it was a secure student account. I asked for the return of my $400 and was told the check would be received within ten days.

October 13.- Not only has the money not been returned, but I now have a bad report on my credit history of a closed account by BOA- and this was the reason I opened the account-to start a good credit history with BOA so that I can have credit to buy a car/home when I graduate soon as a pilot. I attached all documentation for their review.

BOA states a “focus on helping clients wherever and however they prefer to bank, serving diverse communities and supporting financial education” and “work to meet the unique needs of each client while providing a comprehensive experience centered around financial wellness”. My family has been BOA customers for over 30 years. I had wanted to start establishing a relationship as well, but the current “relationship” shows nothing but very poor customer service, not caring about a client by damaging credit, and even stealing my money ($400.00).

I emailed Ms. Holly **, President of Retail Banking and did receive an email and phone call a few days later. Rep was rude and acted like I was a problem saying he'd look into it. He told me that when I opened the account I agreed that BOA or myself could close the account with no reason necessary. It was another ten days before I actually received a check in the mail with no other follow up.

Anyway I had planned on canceling both my credit cards, my savings account and my checking account but after speaking with Paula she brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. Super professional, tons of empathy, explain the situation in detail of why this occurs, was able to keep me calm and that's something because I'm a hot head.

So due to her incredible professionalism I reversed my decision on canceling my accounts so you can thank her and I'm no big deal or nothing but I think anything helps. But that nice lady is definitely manager material. She checked all the boxes so I'm going to be checking in from time to time if you guys don't make her a manager then I will cancel all my accounts and I'll tell my friends and family as well. I didn't think that I would be writing a review for a bank. A bank that I've been with for 5 years. My vision and my dreams are crushed because of Bank of America. They froze my account because I thought there was some type of fraud going on, in which I understand. So I would have another debit card and I'm expecting to open a business at on Saturday which is just a 2 days away. So, I got a loan and I had my mom cosign with me to help me. I handed them a cashier's check from Gulf Coast Credit Union and ask the clerk would this be available the next day. She told me that it would be easier if I just go straight to Gulf Coast Credit Union and cash it there.

Well Gulf Coast gave me a hard time too because they said that I owe them money which I called the vice president and they were having issues finding it. So they gave me a number to call and and report victim of fraud. Because I don't remember getting charged or owing money. So I went and took care of what I need to take care of which was getting my DBA which the banker told me to go get to open up a business credit account. I went back to the bank of Bank of America and asked him again with this be available the next day and this was a different person and he said yes.

Well the next morning I got notification that none of my vendor was getting their money and also I wrote a check to the cleaning ladies to get the place ready and a money wasn't there. I called Bank of America and they're holding my check for 7 days as a cashier's check from Gulf Coast Credit Union. They did not offer no solution or help and they knew that the store is fixing to open up. I depended on that money to pay people, and vendors and for myself to eat and my rent.

They have totally ruined my reputation my business and my and my life. What has happened to that bank that they cannot help a small business owner to flourish One being a minority. I totally recommend people not to go. They will not help you. They are in it for the money. Whenever they need bailouts they get it but when we need a bail out we don't get it. Their actions have ruined everything I worked for. They don't care and that's unbelievable. I will not recover from this because there's several reasons. One being that I wrote checks and they going to bounce so they're going to charge me. Why not train your people to say the right thing to customers especially when we are small-time business owners trying to make it. I hope that someone sees this and reads it. Truly I did not want this to happen they didn't care.

I can never speak to the same person twice, one person tells me the first person I spoke with did not give me correct information and then the next person tells me the second person was incorrect. Trying to schedule an in-person appointment is extremely difficulty. They make it difficult to achieve the task dimension of service (achieve what I was trying to do), there is almost no human dimension (does BofA want a relationship with me as a customer other than a transactional one) - so therefore, it means the hidden dimension (BofA's policies, processes & procedures) are put in place by their leadership team to help ensure the first two dimensions are difficult to address. If I could rate BoA's customer service less than a 1 - it would be more appropriate - obviously, a flunking grade F

My recent visit to Bank Of America in Manchester was a positive experience. On Oct 18, I went to BOA with my wife to settle my matters with BOA. She not only explained to us in detail all the pros and cons but also helped us understand the benefits of the BOA products we sought. She also provided us with all the professional help and took the time to sit with us and explain the process and procedure step by step. Usually, most of them talk about BOA products, but she did something different that caught my attention. She explained what benefits would we be able to reap with my background and existing situation. She also showed her concern and sensitivity to our concerns. Wanted to thank her for her excellent service.

Bank of America has repeatedly denied a charge to a specific company because they claim that the debit card is not attached to my bank however, the debit card that I have I’ve been using for other merchants in the past and yet for some reason they continue to deny or reverse payments to a particular company. I have reported this to them twice, and each time the representatives do not put notes on my complaint therefore I’ve asked for a supervisor. The supervisor even took my comments and instead of addressing the issue about the banking system. I have been charged fees for reconnection to my cell phone company because they have denied that my debit card is attached to the bank. Again, this is a banking issue and they refused to acknowledge or take accountability for their discretion.

Probably the WORST financial situation I've been in because of BOA! Had a business trip and the hotel made the mistake of putting everything on my personal card instead of the company card they had on file. Hotel openly admitted to the mistake and requested I dispute the transaction because it could take 7-14 business days to receive a very large sum of money back in my account. But BOA refused to dispute it and requested I have my company send the money to me. Even though my company and the hotel vouched they made a mistake. This will cause multiple bills on autopay to bounce. And after the BOA employee spoke to me like I was an idiot, I said once the money is back in my account I will be switching banks and he responded with "okay, that's no problem".

His disability through his employer finally got approved, they sent 5 checks at one time back pay and all. The check are drawn on Bank of America. These people wanted him to explain to them why he had these check. And where he usually banks. These were and still are irrelevant ass questions, considering the fact that these checks again were drawn on their bank we were actually even told they could only pay us out so much because we did not bank there again. These checks were drawn on their bank. All they had to do was look at the ID run the checks and give us the money.. Immediately upon running the checks they would have known whether they were valid or not!

At the branch on University Avenue in Saint Paul, the manager was so ignorant to the point you would not even believe so I pulled out my phone to record her. Then she decided she couldn’t service us. They have cameras themselves. Again ignorant and power hungry. What kind of crap is this for real? No company at any point in time are greater than their customer! This is about customer service.! Why would a person have to disclose their personal information to get a check cash that is made out to them and drawn on Bank of America Bank.

Bank of America for sure on University Avenue as well as on Maryland Avenue, which shares the same overall district bank manager you suck and please get yourself together or move to a white neighborhood. I guarantee you would not have asked a white person to disclose any personal information. They would’ve presented the check in their ID and that would’ve been a done deal. They would not have to tell you about the medical history or their previous banking history.!

I once went to a pharmacy to pick up medication. They would not allow the charges! It took 45 minutes before I received a text asking if I authorized the purchase!! Needless to say, I went home without my medicine! That type of experience has happened repeatedly! When I call my local BOA, usually no one answers the phone! Today, someone answered the phone but said she couldn't help me. I wanted them to know I would be out of the country for awhile and didn't want problems using my debit card! Of course, that woman said she could not help me and told me to call the general customer service line.

I called and waited on hold for 30 minutes. When someone finally picked up, I was told they no longer "flag" accounts saying the customer out of the country! I asked to remove all holds to my account and she said it was not possible. She told me, if I had to wait a long time for an authorization text, to call customer service. And they would allow it. I said that is not a solution as I have waited 30 minutes just to get someone to pick up the phone! Can you imagine... I'm in London, want to buy a souvenir, and have to wait 30 minutes for customer service to pick up to authorize my purchase?? Who can wait around for these ridiculous authorization texts?? And, now, they won't even flag my account that I am in another country?? Bank of America has the worst policies and the worst customer service I have ever experienced in banking!!! On each occasion which I have required Banking guidance/advice relevant to my Checking, or Savings account, my needs have always been accurately addressed. The general service at this branch is always prompt, courteous, and very professional during their hours of business.

As an observer I have noticed the kindness, and accuracy which this particular Bank of America branch extends to a wide cross section of people. Also this Bank prides itself on their bilingual skills which enables a good number of Bank of America’s customers to experience a sense of confidence while conducting their transactions. On closing I wish to add as a personal comment, “the sense of comfort which I enjoy with the staff at the Armour Rd branch, I do not experience when visiting other local Bank of America branches”. They never give straight answers. They never know anything of what is going on with your account or deposit, they withdraw your account without you ever sign anything for any kind of protection better to say without your permission, and with, "I’m so sorry ma’am. we assume that you will like to be protected."

This bank has become so bad, they argue with the customer. I have been present and how this employee walked this lady out the door, a senior that was sad he said to her lady if you can’t here that is not my problem, and the manager of the bank this female, I asked, "You the manager you see what is going on and you not doing anything about, just standing looking at him and why you smile," she answer me, "Well does people at that age." she come with a company with have to time to babysit and walk away this is unbelievable. They are a disaster. I will be taking my business somewhere else after I receive my last deposit that of course is nowhere to be found but everything point it that it was approved by the bank with a confirmation number, but yes they don’t know what’s going on that is not deposit as today since last week. My bills started bouncing, they wouldn't even file a fraud report, and then refused to give me access to any of my money. Turns out the six figures never actually left their bank, but they won't give me my money which far exceeded the amount unlawfully released and literally took it out of my account and to another location so I can't access it.

Contacted the FBI, FTC, FDIC, CFSB, to no avail. I still don't have my money. This made me sick, has me an inch away from a heart attack, and literally has me so upset I can't see straight. A police officer for Niagara Falls, NY would not file a police report because I wouldn't show him my bank accounts on my phone in the parking lot, as I didn't have my passwords memorized, which he thought was crazy, because I guess he does six figure banking on his phone?.. After the bank manager had already printed out an account showing my money gone, yet unreceived by my new bank. He then said it was my fault for utilizing electronic banking, for doing too many transactions, and for not having paper everything when all such banking matters are handled electronically, in the parking lot. Like, all I needed was to report the fraud, not to prove it to a roadside cop who wants to be a judge.

FBI said, oh the money will show up, honey, it's okay. We'll give you a call after the holiday sweetie. Don't worry. No money to eat? It's okay. No worries. Six figures of money; gone. Meanwhile, money is stuck in an account somewhere on hold due to a fraud that wasn't mine and is long since resolved. Think this can't happen to you? Think again.

1 was the lowest score that unfortunately I was able to provide. I am completely and utterly disappointed and upset at the outcome of a recent issue with Bank of America. I spoke to Sarah the supervisor, who stuck to her script and only followed what most likely the corporate office told her to say. When I tried to make a full payment of over 11k, their representative clearly told me I would not be charged for any other interest and nothing else would accrued and to my surprise, an interest was accrued after I paid the full balance of over $11,300 to this account.

I clearly asked if I was going to see any surprise charges after I paid and to please look into my account to ensure I would not accrue after I saw the charge, I called and they put in a dispute but a few days later, I get an email saying, this was their final decision and that my request to remove the charge was denied. As you can tell I was upset and this automated type of response. I called to speak to a supervisor and Sarah was assigned to me. And since as she was not helpful and only said there is nothing they can do and apologized for the mistake of her previous colleague which she agreed was his fault and mistake.

Reputable company like Bank of America and you can’t do anything about it? Sarah tells me there’s nothing you can do to reverse the charge which is ridiculous to me. What do you do when someone’s stop paying, or passes away, just stays there, no you reverse it and is over. I think Bank of America should take full accountability for their actions and as a member since 2011, I’m highly disappointed at the fact that all you care is about the bottom line and you’re telling me there’s no way you can take out $100 interest charge from my account that you told me would not accrue. I think that is total bull. I will continue to express my disappointment and your lack of accountability. You either need to better train your staff or do the right thing. I have been a customer of BOA since BOA bought Boatmen’s bank in the early 1990’s a lot has changed and I cannot say today that I trust BOA. I keep good records and I know I have to. BOA deliberately made customers have overdrafts in the 2000’s customers including me who has not had many overdrafts in my life got over $740 in overdrafts, the courts found BOA guilty and BOA had to pay us many months later. The bank locations do not have enough help, there is always a long wait, banks are making record profits with the bare minimum of employees, its obvious convenience for customers is not important. There are no high-interest yield savings accounts available for customers so that’s not good. BOA is there for BOA, not customers.

The way businesses are run today does not reflect even decent customer service, the attitude of management in BOA banking locations is not good, they are bullies and if you don’t know banking rules or laws they treat you disrespectfully and are not honest. Asking me where I got my money that I’m depositing feels creepy and very rude. The latest issues 10-01-24 of customers' accounts going to a zero balance and BOA not able to explain why has criminality written all over it IMO. BOA needs to be investigated because I’m confident there are a lot of things going on that shouldn’t be. I’m still a customer because there are no banks today that are reputable enough for me to move to. I’m saving this review in case anything happens.

BOA is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. They are currently holding an 86-year-old man’s money. Refuse to accept a POA. Presumed the POA was a thief or taking advantage. This decision was made by one agent at the bank. According to an attorney they have a habit of doing this. It’s bad practice, offensive and presumptuous. They are the people taking advantage of an elderly man causing him stress and anxiety. He feels like they are stealing his money. Next step filing a lawsuit. Stay away from BOA.

They of course shut down my debit card and they were sending me a new one which I was supposed to get today, Saturday, September 21 this morning they called me to verify that I was getting the new debit card when I was on the phone with the fraud dept. I noticed that I had several new charges coming through at that moment totaling over $6000.

They allowed all of the charges to go through except for one that was over $2000. They never alerted me. They allowed those charges to go through. They call me when I have two charges for $48 for Walmart but they don’t alert me when I have over $6000 in fraudulent charges. And what is really interesting Discharges were on the new debit card that I was supposed to receive today. I didn’t have the number so who was able to access the new debit card number? Inside job? Someone from Federal Express? I never received the new card today as promised. Another issue they will not put the money back into my account for 10 days so I’m out $6000. They have to do an investigation. Shame on the BOA Fraud department. They drop the ball.

I’ve been banking with Bank of America for many years, until I parted ways about two years ago. I’ve always paid my credit card payments as agreed, until I experienced grave financial hardship due to my daughter being diagnosed with MS, my husband had two knee replacement surgeries and recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. When my daughter was diagnosed with MS two years ago and PRIOR to defaulting on my cc payments, I reached out to BOA to see if they could possibly work on lowering my payments and make it affordable as my daughter’s medication was my priority at that time. Their customer service representative said ‘You’re not past due, so there is nothing we can do’. I had to make a choice on whether to pay my daughter’s medical bills/medication, pay my mortgage and provide for my household.

BOA enlisted their bulldog of attorneys to handle my case. I have been in the midst of negotiations with my legal counsel on a settlement with them but the egotistical and heartless law firm, A Palmer e.t.a.l. undermined all negotiations and asked the courts to issue a writ of garnishment for my wages AND served my place of employment with this request!!! I agreed they were within their right to do so but knowing that by serving this summons and the domino and fall out this would have on me, THE ONLY BREADWINNER IN MY FAMILY is very very low blow. My husband has prostate cancer and BOA attorneys were well aware of this … but I guess the bigger corporations and their ruthless and heartless attorneys' pockets are the priority in my situation. If they needed medical records, I would have gladly provided that for my daughter and husband.

I guess the takeaway from this is NO ONE has your back when you fall on hard times, especially Bank of America and their debt-consolidated attorneys- just evil human beings!! Other bigger banks and their lawyers worked and negotiated with me during my hardship so why BOA couldn’t, is beyond my understanding! Today I had to shell out my savings to pay off my cc with this horrific bank and the settlement attorneys all along while my daughter continues to need her MS medication and my husband is battling cancer. THIS IS HOW THE GIANT BANK, Bank of America AND THEIR RUTHLESS EVIL ATTORNEYS OPERATE when it comes to defenseless individuals like us!!!

The app is wonderful- you can send/receive and transfer funds, deposit checks, add special offers, etc. There is a $5 monthly fee- or not, depending on your acct. Mine is usually covered because for every debit purchase, they take the difference to get to the dollar, match it, and put in my savings! I have yet to be disappointed with this company. Friendly tip- Don't sign up for overdraft protection- You'll be charged $35 if you don't have the $ in savings to take from! No harm in letting it go below $0, so long as you put the $ in within 5 days (so you don't get a fee). Oh, and did I mention they're in AMERICA- Excellent English skills!

The most painful kind of mistreatment and certainly customer hostile experience. Walked into a branch in Summerlin, I think westmost along Charlestown Blvd, with an elderly lady, a lifelong and diligent customer to the bank to open a joint bank account. In the process, the young lady banker asked me to step out so that she could talk to the elderly lady. Apparently, I did not fit her or the bank's criteria for their banking as we needed, and was perhaps doing a little heist on the lady with Maybe dementia or mental incapacity to bank? I say this as it was shared with me by the frustrated lady as she tried to talk to me not to give up on the work W head intimated

Never mind that I have spent almost a fortune, helping elderly kind of abandoned old people as I do ADA driving, people to whom a broken party open window in winter means living or dying, a broken cistern means a flooded house, etc., people who need us to help them do what an ordinary healthy and energetic person does with ease.

So when my Hyundai car broke down with a warranty covered issue and I could not work, the lady offers to help and for long I decline the offer, knowing that most of the elderly are on a modest and fixed income. She bluntly said that she could afford and that the modest.. specifically 20k$ contribution would not affected her financially in any way. This is lady I know and what she says is always carefully thought out. Never mind that last year I paid about 37k in taxes and fees.

She opined that she could market and I accept pay for handy man services instead of helping for free, we could get an inexpensive van and tools. So we agree to do it with my 50% financial contribution, including a car I, and equal shareholding as she said that she could easily afford and was doing it to help me and other elderly seniors who are often defrauded or neglected by home maintenance businesses, at least by their confessions.. Bottom-line. I walked out, kicked out humiliated, to sit in the lobby for the banker to talk to their customer. In disgust, I declined, I backed away from the idea. I numbly cooperated as another officer completed the account opening but the idea is to me now. Thank you bank of America for stopping a "heist".

I rarely write negative reviews and I will write this review exactly as long as I wait on the line until one of the bank operators takes my call. I want to ask you - Do you like it when it happens rudely? Then I can tell you the bank of your dreams!

    1) Virtual Assistant. Perhaps I will start with the virtual assistant when you call the bank. I do not know what it depends on, but 40% of calls the virtual assistant starts trying to kill you morally before you hear a real person. This is how it works:

Welcome to Bank of America - /this call may be recorded/ As a mobile user you can/connection is interrupted /Silence/ I didn't understand you / Silence/ I didn't understand you / let's try/ connection is interrupted/ Silence/ I didn't understand you/ Let's try this - you tell me your SSN number 4 digits or card number/I ANSWER/I didn't understand you/I ANSWER MANY TIMES IN DIFFERENT WAYS TO MAKE HER UNDERSTAND/ Ok, I understood you/ What would you like?/ I answer, she tries to connect (after about 10 minutes to 1.45 hours this happens! 1.45 you're on the phone, how are you???) and for almost two hours they tell you the same thing, how the bank cares about you! that you are very important to the bank, etc.! I know all her dialogues, really! I told you only one version of interaction with the assistant, there is a recording of the conversation. I heard many more versions of nonsense during my interaction with this bank!

    2) Money transfers. Bank of the year! Transfer money by pigeon post, but not with us! My family in another country asked me to help them financially and I got into an accident, and I also needed to pay many bills over three weeks. This means I needed to make many payments (around 20) for amounts of 20 - 500 dollars. What do you think happened? That's right - the bank blocked 80% of these payments! Every time the bank blocked a payment, I had to call them and of course interact with the virtual assistant before that. I could not wait 24 hours until the bank decided that it would allow the payment! You understand, it is very stupid when you urgently need to fix your car and you transfer 200 dollars to the repairman in the mobile service, and the bank tells you to stop!

You better stand on the road in the rain for 24 hours! Although you know we will block your next payment too! And by the way, the department that unblocks payments is not working now, it's already 6.30 pm, so go ** yourself! When the department was working, you just wasted an hour of your time to be connected to them because the virtual assistant does not want to connect you directly with them! Another time when they set me up the same way as with major repairs is when you already know that the department works until 6 am and make a transfer in advance on Friday because you need to transfer the money before Saturday!

At 4.30 EST you transfer the money (the bank, of course, blocks the transfer) and after 50 minutes of waiting on the line you get through to the bank confident that you will be connected to the right department, but the department decides that they have already finished work and it's time for them to go home and all attempts to connect one operator with this department simply cut off the call with the answer - "We cannot answer your call now, call back later!"

The first time they tried to connect me at 5.20, the next at 5.45 and the next at 6.05, as you understand, my payment was stuck until Saturday, where the bank simply canceled it itself (most likely because the special department was not working) and I had to wait until Monday to transfer the money! You can't even imagine how much I went through and lost money because I got involved with this da** bank!!! I asked the operator several times to lift the restrictions on transfers for several days! Simply because I can't wait an hour on the line 3-4 times a day to confirm my payment, but they told me - no! We can't do anything! And they probably wanted to add - you must suffer, you bas**!

    3) Transactions. Yes, this is your account in our bank, but everything there is our money, you son of a **! The following situation will clearly show how much the bank doesn't care about you! I have a cargo van transportation business here and I have to pay a pretty penny for insurance here, in this case my payment was $1,600. When I opened the insurance app on my phone on the day of payment, I saw that my policy was not active and called the insurance company.

The operator at the insurance company said that I MUST go to the company's website and pay according to the details. I did so and calmly went to work, but the next day the insurance company automatically wrote off this payment again, which made the balance on my work card, with which I buy gas, food, etc., negative! I was simply stuck at a gas station with half a tank of gas and no food. I called the insurance company and they confirmed the misunderstanding and told me to call my bank and tell them about the problem.

I called my bank and they said: "Yes, we understand that this is your account and it is a duplicate transaction, but the transaction is still pending, you called too early. Call tomorrow or the day after when there is no pending." Ok, I called that day when it was already reflected as ready, but the next answer from the bank completely destroyed me.

"We can't do anything urgently! The transaction has already been made. We will send a request to the investigation department, it can take up to 21 business days, and the money will most likely be returned to you in two weeks!" To my question - if the bank says that it cares about the customer's safety, then what does it do when the customer is in a hopeless situation and the customer said that he did not make this payment from his card and he should just live at a gas station like a homeless person? The bank told me that they have no comment... I just need to wait.

Now I know how to stop any company! For example, if you want to interfere with the work of some company or business and you know that it has a current account at Bank of America, just request a payment for an unrealistic amount! Yes, then this payment will be canceled, but you will be able to stop the work of the plant or competitor for up to 21 days at a time convenient for you.

Unfortunately, the situation with the payment repeated itself, since the insurance company "Prog**" did not receive money for its auto payment after a week and sent a repeated request to the bank. Now the insurance company has fixed it. But I again had to contact my "Favorite" bank. Where am I now how do you think??? Well, no, knowing my da** bank, I started carrying cash with me.

    4) Plastic card. Will you follow our way or not at all! I have already said that I am constantly on business trips and am rarely home in New York, but I would never have thought that, having lost a plastic card, I would have such problems with getting it. I lost it in the Colorado area and called the bank to go to ANY branch in the central US or the West and get my card, but they said no. The bank will not send my card to their branch! Give me any residential address, but we will not ship to our own addresses, which are all over the country. After I said that I have no friends in this part of the US, and I do not plan to return to NY for a month, and I will call back later, I received a message, and guess what it was - "Your card has been sent to your home address..."

The result of all of the above:

My reputation as a partner is ruined thanks to the bank!
Now I know how to live without money at the gas station!
My family thinks I am a cheapskate because I could not help them at a very important moment for them, having all the authority to do so! (No one just believes that something like this can happen in an American bank.)

I lost about 3400 because I couldn't pay my bills on time and get the services I needed!

Thank you, Bank of America for making my life better!

I have been a bank of America customer for over 8 years, and my overwhelming feeling about this company is they absolutely SUCK! Do not put your money with this bank. I have a professional account, and you can not even get through the automated system to ask a question. If you ever need anything, it takes hours of your time. I HATE working with them! Their website is from 1990's and their accounting does not update in real time.... Unless they are charging you fees and or you make a purchase. I have had to wait for weeks for reimbursements and there is NO way to actually ask simple questions. Couple that with the fact they closed the branch office in my town, and I am frankly over it. I wish them well. I am taking my business and money somewhere else!

Then they closed all of the ready teller kiosks in town. We have to drive 30 minutes to get to a satellite bank. And our recent interactions with the bank and online services have resulted in errors that required us to go back to the bank time after time. I hate change but… I'm thinking it's time.

Using words like you’re awesome and you’re so kind to her fellow BoA employees. Lynn has a genuine heart of Gold. She helped explain everything that I did not understand very carefully and if she did not know the answer herself, she asked her fellow employees to get the right answers for me. The bank on its own initiative returned a check even though there was plenty in the account to cover it. The reason that I was given was that I didn't timely respond to an email asking me if I wrote the check. A phone call would have been a surer way to get my attention. I was told that I would have to write a new check. I explained that this was highly inconvenient as the person lived in a different city and frankly the bank caused me significant embarrassment. I asked the fraud folks and the customer service folks to just wire transfer the amount into the account of the person to whom the check was returned. I was told this was impossible. In other words the bank caused the problem but refused to fix it. I have been a customer of BofA since 1997 and this service screw up with the no one at the bank taking responsibility to fix it is appalling.

    Original Review: Aug. 24, 2024

I've been dealing with the problems with Bank of America for 3 years. Yes I can use my debit card when I go to make a store purchase at a store, however the security code does not work and has not worked. If you call customer service it takes you over a half hour to go through all their prompts but when you go into the bank they just make excuses like, "We protect your security." Well does anybody have time to go through a half hour of security prompts? When I do get through to talk to somebody and the system asked me my security code the system says they don't recognize that code. They put me through to talk to a person about it and they don't understand. A week ago I talked to a girl there. She said, "Well I don't see anything that says that anything didn't go through."

I said, "Your system didn't even recognize the security code. So how would you see anything? I've never been able to use it." "Oh sir but there's nothing wrong.", I said, "That's because I've never been able to use it. It doesn't work. That's why I'm calling." She couldn't solve it so I hung up and wished her a nice day. So I go into the bank today and show the banker how it's not working and not verifying the security code and he tells me, "Oh. I see the problem here on my computer so it's all fixed now." So I go home tonight. I try to use it again and it doesn't work. Honestly I can't wait to just get rid of Bank of America, because I've never had these problems before with any other bank.

Lost my job, waited a month for the check and now have to wait another 11 days. I deposited $1,000 into an ATM, and after five minutes of processing, I received a message saying, “Sorry, this machine is not working.” I contacted customer service, and they guaranteed that the money would be credited into my account within 48 hours. It has now been six days, and I still haven’t received my money. After talking to multiple customer service representatives and supervisors, I finally got the correct answer: it might take 10 to 45 days for an investigation to be completed, with no credit to my account in the meantime. This means I have to wait that long without access to my money—completely unacceptable.

I’ve also had multiple issues with my account being incorrectly charged for fees that were never disclosed to me. These unexpected fees caused me significant financial stress, and resolving them took countless hours on the phone. Despite numerous attempts to address these issues, I was met with representatives who offered no solutions and even contradicted each other. I’m extremely disappointed with the level of service and transparency provided by Bank of America. I would strongly advise anyone considering Bank of America to think twice before opening an account. I honestly have no idea how Bank of America is still in business. Worst bank I have ever dealt with in my 50 years of life. I originally opened the account so someone who was paying me to do a job, who also had a Bank of America account, could easily wire money between accounts. They charged me $15 for her to wire money to me from her BOA account. Then I started seeing $12 per month charged on my checking and $8 per month on my savings. They charge fees for everything and NEVER answer the phone. The automated system is terrible.

I decided to no longer use the accounts and just use my credit union, even though it is a small FCU near Houston, TX (I now live north of Dallas). I closed my account over 5 weeks ago and still have not received the money that was in my accounts. I called and was transferred 3 times before being "connected" to the closed accounts department. That's when I heard buttons pushing and then a dial tone. There is no email for customer service now that my account is closed and no phone number for the "closed account department". I have been on hold over an hour now waiting for regular customer service again. I have never had a good experience calling Bank of America. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THEM.

Let me respectfully suggest that BOA expand its options to include a category called -5 (or more) to be used by customers who are completely, utterly and thoroughly disappointed with BOA (an apt name). I am 83 years old and have dealt with thousands of companies, large and small. I have never been treated this poorly be any other company. A couple months ago, I opened an account at BOA so I could have my Social Security check deposited in it. One check was deposited and little spent. As the date was approaching for the deposit of my second check, I tried to access my account but the passwords couldn’t be used or changed.

I called the Support line and was told that the account had been closed. CLOSED? WHY? Support could not give me any reason except that the account agreement allowed both the customer and BOA to close the account without reason or notice to the other. Several days later I got a form letter stating that the account had been closed, because the account agreement said it could be closed by either Party, and a check would be sent via USPS for the amount in the account. It has now been a week and I have not received a check from BOA. Further, my second Social Security check should have been deposited today except that because the account is closed, the check will be sent back to SSA and reissued to a new account that I will have to set up elsewhere. That means that I do not have access to TWO Social Security checks.

I asked them what I should do for food and bills without access to the 2 check amounts, they didn’t have any suggestions but they were sorry. Being sorry doesn’t put groceries in my kitchen. A much better procedure would have been to have called, texted or emailed me so at least I could have personally come and in picked up a check which I could have then deposited in a new account or cashed.

A customer approval rating barely above 1 means there are many seriously dissatisfied customers. Where are the state and national regulatory authorities when they are needed – badly needed? Why is this bank allowed to continue operations? Their statistics show that they are doing a terrible job. I want to Chair the supervisory, investigative Board.

Bad experience with Bank of America. Don't book with a third-party online booking company with your credit card or any form of payment. Don't book from a hotel's website or fake website as it might link you to a fake booking company (Hotelsone in this case). If you put a charge on your credit card with a fake booking company, they will charge you inflated charges and claim the charges are non-refundable even if they don't tell you beforehand that the charges are non-refundable when you give them your credit card number 2 1/2 months in advance of the reservation. I haven't made a hotel booking with an online booking agent in at least 10 years and will never do so again.

The bank or credit card company won't even reimburse you if the fake booking company cancels your "supposed" reservation before your stay occurs. They said, "online booking companies automatically charge you nonrefundable fees because they are doing cost comparisons and you should know this." Not true in my case. No cost comparisons were being done by this company at a fake hotel website. You still have to pay for the fraud and the services not provided to your credit card provider or bank. That's even if you have a disputed claim for services not provided pursuant to the Fair Credit Billing Act.

My bank, Bank of America, has a "couldn't care less" attitude so I'm cancelling my cards with Bank of America which carried minimal balances so the bank could earn some interest and I could have a very good credit rating with high credit limits just for leverage purposes. Further, Bank of America did not follow Know Your Customer Rules by allowing a foreign person to add Zelle to my account and make two wrongful transfers amounting to almost $14,000 from my FDIC-insured Savings Account. These wrongful transfers were made by a person who needed an interpreter and used a different IP address. Fortunately, those funds were refunded. I strongly believe that the fake booking agent in the Philippines was the same fraudster who took these monies in two wrongful transfers. DON'T USE BANK OF AMERICA.

The story of BOA nonsense goes like this: My 87-year-old mother wrote a check to me for less than $600 from her Bank of America account. She has had the account for at least 20 years and has written checks to her kids many times. I deposited the check into my Navy Federal account via the app as I would normally do. Five days later I saw that the check amount had been withdrawn from my account. Navy Federal did not give any information as to why, only that it was returned. So I have to spend an hour of my time driving to the bank to find out what the problem is. I found out there is still no information as to why it was returned. So now I call my sister who handles my mother's affairs. She has to spend 20 minutes of her time talking to BOA about the issue. It turns out BOA thought the check was fraud. This is comical on so many levels.

My mom's signature and writing have been the same for the entire time she has had the account. The check was perfect. Now it turns out that they sent a fraud alert to my Father who passed away in 2020. No surprise he did not answer. BOA did not remove him from the account as they were supposed to. We have the letter from them accepting his death certificate. So what makes this annoying is that I have had checks presented to my commercial BOA account that were completely bogus, nothing matched, the signatures were nothing like mine, the checks were completely different and for large amounts, $9800 and $9400, but the DAs at BOA still cashed them.

I stopped writing checks to avoid this but as it turns out it just cost me more money in wire and ach fees. Go figure. I have decided I am not taking this crap anymore. The penalty for doing nothing and wasting my time will be removing my credit card processing first. That's $4000+ a month BOA is not going to get in fees. I don't care about your Platinum status or your kickback on merchant processing which you have reduced down to almost nothing. The next move will be taking the business savings somewhere else. Your .01% interest is not worth it. There are many other issues not listed here. I have had enough!!!!

On 6/9/2024 a call came in to our phone from Bank Of America's phone number (1800-432-1000) a person claiming to be a customer service representative asked us to verify some Zelle transactions we had made through Bank of America's mobile banking app. We verified a few that we had made, then were asked about a $2500 transaction. Which was $200 dollars less than our total balance in the account in question. Naturally we were panicked, we explained we did NOT make that transfer. They then asked us to verify security codes to our phone to ensure our protection. We doubled check the phone number and it was the same as on the back of our ATM cards. We had no reason to believe this was a scam.

They had all our information and verified all my account information as the scammers had compromised Bank Of America, otherwise how would they have had all my bank account information. We quickly this was fraudulent but not until our money was already gone. We went into the branch first thing the next day and closed all our accounts and transferred all the money we had into a CD for protection. The claim was filed by a BOA associate by phone earlier that same morning and that associate filed the claim as fraud. We never heard back regarding our claim and followed up about 2 weeks later only to learn that the claim had to be re-filed as a "SCAM". They explained the only way we would get our money back is if they recovered the funds. This is now 2 weeks after the initial transfer that was made.

At this point we knew because they initially filed incorrectly that the chance of recovering funds were slim. Of course they then denied the claim. Again I only found that out from my follow up call around beginning of July. They then filed again for a reconsideration. That was also denied. I then filed a complaint with CFPB, BBB, and Federal Reserve Consumer help. Once BOA received my complaints I immediately received a call from Elisa (602-379-8360 and she explained she would re-submit my claim. Today on 7/30/2024 at 1:35 p.m. I received another call from Bank of America's claims department at 1-855-255-0613. Luckily I was driving and could not answer.

Once I got home, I called the number back and the representative explained that the bank did not call me, yet the number when I called back went directly to the claims department. This is EXACTLY what happened the first time when we were victims of the $2500 withdrawal. I don't understand how an institution that is supposed to protect their consumers can take no responsibility for scammers using their secured lines and getting access to all my information to have my checking account emptied!!! I have been a client for 14 years and this has been the worst experience ever. I would not have been exposed to zelle had it not been for Bank Of America mobile app.

Absolutely worst experience over the last 3 days! My mom and her long time partner had medical issues and needed to move money between accounts and send a Zelle payment. I logged onto the app to find out the best and quickest way to remove someone of an account. I was directed that I would have to go into the branch. I got my 89 year old mom over to our local branch and they said that both people on the account would have to be there to remove themself. That's impossible as her long time partner had to be sent to a memory care center for Alzheimer's and when he was diagnosed with it we were told that he no longer could sign legal documents.

I told the personal banker this so she gave me a workaround to setup a new account online or through the app and move the money into that account. I expressed it was an urgent matter and could we just take care of it now. She said it's better to just do it in the app. So at that time I zelled 3500 for the treatment facility and took my mom home. I logged into the app and did exactly what she told me to do. I confirmed the money moved into the new account and logged out. The next morning it looked like I hadn't done any transfers or zelled. I called to see if they received the money and they hadn't. So that day I spent more than 2 hours on the phone to find out why.

I finally spoke to a nice rep who said they were part of the financial institution that was hit by the latest outage. Mind you I worked in technology for more than 25 years. I told him I had been moved around because I had opposing directives between the app and the branch on how to handle this delicate situation, dragging my 89 year old mom with. He apologized but said they were just informed of the data breach and management wouldn't let them take calls. Really?? That's your solution to a data breach by turning of your servers and instructing customer service not to answer calls, smh. A simple splash screen on the website and the app would have eliminated hours and days of fielding days of customers' calls and I've lost my faith in a bank that my mom has had for almost 40 years. Shame on you Bank of America, shame on you!

I brought in a paper check to deposit, there was a payroll issue and my company issued me a paper check for the difference. The check was 100% legitimate, and was accepted at the window, I was told finds would be available the following morning. The next day I attempted to open my account app to check the balance and I could not login. I was directed to reset my password and the app said my information did not match their system. My check had been flagged for suspicious behavior and Bank of America had closed my account. So at this point, I could not access my paycheck or do any business on the account at all because it was in closure.

I called to get assistance and was informed the account closure date was six weeks away, and that upon closure they would send me a cashier's check for my balance. I had the option to request hardship access to my funds, but the check was still on hold (an 8 day hold mind you) so I would need to APPLY for that after the hold date and the amount of time it takes to get access to funds from there could be between an hour and 7 business days. There is also no way to appeal the account closure because it was closed "based on a business decision" and it is in the paperwork that they reserve the right to close accounts at any time, no explanation, no heads up, they just close the account and you cannot access your funds until they process the cashier's check on their end. All of this for a payroll check written by a well known and established company, simply unacceptable. I would not recommend banking with this company.

A representative, Monique in Texas, told me that a check would be sent for $492.75 to my home via mail and should be received within 10 business days. I did not receive it. To this day, it never came. I called again and spoke to Adelpho, a supervisor, on 6/2024. He then took down my routing number and said he would transfer the funds to my bank. He proceeded to tell me that it would be within 10 business days! I questioned this and commented that a consumer can send another consumer money instantly through Zelle and other services, yet Bank of America would take up to 10 business days to transfer $492.75!?! He said that this is the process.

Approximately 20+ days have gone by and still no refund!! On 7/10/24 I made my last phone call and was on the phone for over 37 minutes to learn that BOA had taken the charges from my credit card to bring down the credit balance. There was a remaining credit of $116.14 so they sent it through the mail, according to Serena a customer service rep, supposedly on 7/9/24. Let's see if it makes it this time!

I was trying to call before the grand baby woke because I was on babysitting duty. I was on hold for 45 min and after speaking to the first woman for 45 min, she couldn’t figure it out so she transferred me to someone else who transferred me to someone else who told me I had to call back to reestablish my identity. I called back and was on hold 45 min before a woman picked up and then told me I had to call another number.

The next number, spoke to a woman for 1 hour and 15 min and she could not figure it out. They finally told me I had to come in. I told them I cannot come in. I have to babysit, work, then babysit again. They said I could come on Saturday. Today, I drove to a far off bank because the one by me was closed. They said they were short staffed and had no one who could help me and sent me to another bank even further from my home. That bank had someone who could help but I had to wait for her to return from her lunch break. After she returned, she tried for 45 min and then proceeded to tell me I have to come back on a weekday. That the people who can fix it are only in on week days! The problem is I work on weekdays and babysit on weekdays and don’t have hours to go to the bank. I have no access to my money.

I asked to speak to a supervisor on the phone and they refused to give me a supervisor. I told them I was going to take my business elsewhere and they were like okay, fine. One lady I spoke to even suggested I turn my phone on and off! How in the world would that help anything and I was on my phone and computer. All it would have done would have been disconnected us and they do not have a way to call you back either! Very disappointed! I still don’t have my money and I need it to pay bills.

Bank of America has currency exchange services. When you initiate the order you have a choice on the size of bills: large, medium, small. I always ask for small. I have NEVER received small currency. Each time they say "It depends on what we have in the till at the time." They are very fast at sending the money--often the next business day, but I would rather they take an extra day or two or three to fulfill my request accurately. I have concluded they do not have the ability to fulfill that request and are misrepresenting their currency exchange services. They need to change their process or change the description of those services. I would prefer they change the process, but am not confident they listen to customer feedback.

Why this matters: imagine showing up in a country where a 50 or 100 note cannot be used locally because it is considered so very large for that country. It is a very vulnerable feeling. I do all of my business with Bank of America, so I have a predisposition to use them, but I will not use currency exchange services again. I have complained many times, the last time they created a service request and I never heard back, I think that was just an empty process to get off the phone.

Updated on 07/07/2024: Let me summarize the bank experience. My husband's debit card was stolen, and an individual posing as helpful at the walk-up ATM switched cards. The thief then gave the card to his girlfriend, who withdrew money from the drive-through bank. Additionally, one of them entered the bank and made another withdrawal. We reported the incident to the bank, expecting them to investigate and resolve the issue, However, they mishandled the case. After some time, the bank refunded the amount taken from the ATM, followed by the amount taken from inside the bank the next day. However, the following week, they mistakenly refunded the same amount from the ATM withdrawal again. When we contacted them to inquire about this, they acknowledged the error and promised to rectify it on June 28th.

In the meantime, they sent us printed photos of the girl who withdrew money from our card at the drive-through, including a photo of my husband at a different bank and different date. The photo of my husband was taken back in February, not in May when this incident occurred. Based on this photo, the bank wrongly assumed that my husband and I were involved in the theft, accusing us of giving the money to ourselves. The lady in the photo who was using the debit card was maybe in her late 20's so they assumed that was me, (I am guessing) even though my husband and I are both in our 60's. The bank informed us that they would also deduct the original ATM amount on June 28th but remained silent about the larger sum taken inside the bank. The reason for this omission was that they couldn't find a photo or video of my husband entering the bank.

It seemed as though they weren't genuinely interested in investigating the actual culprits, even though both individuals were captured on video. It would have been a simple matter to identify them with a proper investigation. Furthermore, the bank failed to request identification when the thief made a large withdrawal inside the bank. We contacted the bank's fraud department, and a representative acknowledged the mistakes made in handling the case. However, when he documented his findings, he mistakenly posted the notes to the wrong case. He posted it on the duplicate error. When we followed up with the bank, the person we spoke to initially struggled to locate the case until we mentioned the name of the representative who had made the notes. She eventually found the information and reposted it to the correct case, along with her own notes.

On June 28th, the duplicate transaction was removed, but the original one remained in the bank, unresolved. Feeling stressed and frustrated, we contacted the bank for an update, only to be told that the matter had been resolved. Naturally, we were rightfully angry, because in the beginning, the bank had swiftly shifted blame onto us, even providing photos they believed were us. Now they decided it has all been resolved, but they didn't bother to let us know. They didn't inform us of their findings or provide photo of the person who walked inside. They had no intention of even telling us that the issue had been resolved.

We knew Bank of America would never apologize for all their mistakes and all the stress they put us through, but the fact that they left us with, "We are going to take the money back and let law enforcement know about their findings" And just leaving us like that. Not telling us this problem had been resolved ... This opened my eyes to the fact that they don't care one way or the other about their customers. They show no respect. People can make or break a business.

Original review: On May 23rd, 2024, my husband encountered a distressing incident at an ATM that resulted in our bank card being stolen and a significant amount of money being withdrawn from our account. Unfortunately, the bank's response to this incident has been deeply disappointing. My husband was approached by an individual who deceitfully switched his card without his knowledge and observed his PIN number. Subsequently, this individual handed off the card to a female accomplice who withdrew $350 from our account at the drive-through. Shockingly, another individual managed to withdraw $1500 from our account by going into the bank. It was only through our vigilance in monitoring our account that we discovered these unauthorized transactions.

We reported the incident to the bank, which treated the two incidents as separate cases. After an agonizing wait of 8 days, they eventually returned the $1500, followed by the $350 a day later. However, their mishandling continued when they inadvertently credited us with an additional $350. To our dismay, a month later, we received a letter accusing us of involvement in the theft and demanding the return of the mistakenly credited $350, along with the extra $350. The bank's investigation was woefully inadequate and poorly executed. They based their conclusions on a photograph of a young lady using my husband's card and another photo of my husband from a completely unrelated incident in February at a different bank. It is evident that no genuine investigation took place, as they simply searched for any photo of my husband, regardless of time or location. This lack of effort and attention to detail is disheartening.

We escalated our concerns to a supervisor in the fraud department, who initially agreed with us and promised to reopen the case. However, two days later, we learned that the supervisor had left notes on the wrong $350, further exacerbating the situation. While the case remains pending, the bank plans to deduct both $350 amounts from our account on Friday, June 28th, causing further financial strain. The bank's disregard for customers living paycheck to paycheck is distressing. Their actions have caused immense stress and anxiety, and it is evident that they lack empathy for the challenges faced by individuals in such circumstances. Their failure to promptly resolve this matter and their lack of concern for our well-being is deeply disappointing.

It is perplexing that the bank did not review surveillance footage from the ATM where the incident occurred. This footage would have clearly shown my husband and the individual who tampered with his card. Additionally, we find it puzzling that the bank did not request identification during the in-person withdrawal, as is customary. Their negligence in these aspects raises serious questions about their commitment to customer security.

Bank of America (BOA) has failed to fulfill their responsibility of protecting their customers, and we are now considering seeking legal assistance to compel them to conduct a thorough investigation. It is disheartening that we find ourselves in this position, as my husband should not have had to endure such an incident. We believe that BOA must be held accountable and take concrete measures to rectify their shortcomings in customer protection and security protocols. In conclusion, BOA's handling of this security breach has been subpar, and their lack of effort in investigating the matter thoroughly is a significant concern. As customers, we expect better from an institution that prides itself on customer service.

I am writing to express my deep concern and dissatisfaction regarding an unresolved issue with my savings account since 2023. Unauthorized withdrawals were made from my account, resulting in significant financial loss and considerable stress. Despite my repeated attempts to seek resolution, I have yet to receive any accountability from Bank of America for allowing this breach to occur.

I am appalled by the lack of an official apology or acknowledgment of the bank's negligence in this matter. The unauthorized transactions have not only impacted my financial stability but have also adversely affected my credit rating. This situation is unacceptable, and I am deeply disappointed in the handling of this serious issue. I request immediate action to rectify this situation. Specifically, I seek:

    1. A thorough investigation into how the unauthorized withdrawals were permitted.
    2. A formal apology for the negligence and the distress caused by this incident.

3.. Steps to restore my credit rating to its previous standing.

I have been a loyal customer of Bank of America, and this experience has severely undermined my trust in your institution. I expect prompt and effective measures to resolve this issue, and I hope to hear from you at the earliest convenience with a plan of action. Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter.

    Sincerely,

Leak your information. Do not secure your funds and if theft happens they won’t return your money back most likely. They hang up on you. They’re not helpful inside the banks. Tell you to go home and make a phone call to customer care. When the problem is too big to take care over the phone. Lies! They’re just a shady business that has some hidden inside issues and definitely not a quality company! I wouldn’t even give it a ⭐️1 review! I’m bi polar and they made me feel so dumb and made fun of me. Sent me home. Told me they can’t help me because they’re busy today. Hung up the phone on me. Never finished the fraud claim report because they were lazy in my opinion. Or maybe that’s what the company stands for. Service like this.

I am treasurer of a couple of small non-profits. The BofA people to whom I speak seem to be trying, but the phone system to get through to them is absolutely hopeless. It takes forever to speak to a human. (Yes, I exaggerate - but not by much.). Then, when you are speaking to someone, it seems that the IT system they have to deal with is no better than the phone system. They seem to really struggle to accomplish what should be a fairly straightforward transaction.

They will even intentionally give you the wrong contact information for their collogues who are supposed to be handling certain aspects of the application, then another employee tell you that that person does not communicate with the public (applicant).

They have completely mishandle every aspect of my HELOC application including the payout, which will now cost me over 4 hours of my time and an additional 7 to 10 business days to get my money, of which could have been avoided if they had an ounce of competence between them. If there was a negative star review, I would choose it. We have been Bank of America customers for over 30 years. We have personal checking, savings, credit card and a business account. Time to find a new institution that we can trust with our money. On May 13, 2024, our accounts were all hacked. In ONE DAY almost $20,000 was stolen from our life savings by unauthorized fraudulent Zelle withdrawals and a credit card cash advance. Thirty-one withdrawals in one day from one account.

We have NEVER used Zelle or cash advances. There is supposed to be a $3500 or 10 withdrawal limit with Zelle. NO RED FLAGS on all of our accounts as our money was drained. We had to take funds from our retirement account to simply survive and pay bills. How was Bank of America during this issue? Useless, callous, unethical and unprofessional. The phone staff in the fraud department treated us like criminals. We have 3 claims that the bank has all denied in less than 10 days. We were told it could take up to 45 days to resolve. It is now day 29. We will be reporting the bank to the Consumer Financial Protection Agency and contacting our Attorney General. We have been blasting the bank on social media every day. DO NOT USE BANK OF AMERICA.

This money to pay my business bills...What could you call this negligent attitude?? What would happen if I had been the one to kidnap their money or steal it???...1000% pure bureaucracy, BLA BLA BLA BLA, a lot of Vaseline even though I told them that they had 80% negative reviews and many other % not so good, they just told me that they were sorry but you had to wait for the claim process....27 years of being their clients is of no use, they wipe their ** with one that easy.

I started a BoA for my new business that I have been planning for some time. I thought they would be supportive and reasonable for a new, small business. They are the opposite. The biggest issue is their unreasonable hold times on checks. They do not warn you that they will hold your hard earned, critical money for up to 10 days. I have been in a bind now multiple times because of this. The last straw is that the teller told me that funds would be available the next day, only to have a total of an 11 day hold put on a cashiers check from Chase bank.

Then, when you try to talk to anyone with any authority who could help you get even a little of it released, you will find that no one is able to do that. What’s more, no one I have done work for uses BoA any more, so that only prolongs the process. If you need a bank who can help you grow and cares even a little about you as a consumer, go elsewhere. Any where else. They will not reason, and no one actually cares about you or your business. I will be closing this account the second my funds are available. I never write reviews, but this is something I wish I would have known.

I was given a refund to my BOA debit card by a merchant several days ago. Having not receiving any refund from BOA. I called BOA and had very long wait times, they told me I had to go back to the merchant as they did not receive any refund yet. So I called back to the merchant, and they just sent me their refund receipt from several days ago where they had indeed refunded BOA for the item I had returned over a week ago. So I called back to BOA and they read off what sounded like a teleprompter that it may take BOA 10 more days to refund my money - even though the merchant has already refunded the money to them!!!!

I asked to speak with another supervisor, and Francesco told me that they would all tell me the same thing. So I called back to BOA fraud department and waited on hold for a very long long time and no one ever answered! There is something big time wrong with BOA!!!! Really!!! The U.S. Government needs to check into their business practices and lies to the consumer.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with Bank of America's bill payment processing service. My experience has been frustrating and disappointing, and I feel compelled to share my concerns. You schedule a payment and money is withdrawn from your account while processing the check. You can understand that ok money is withdrawn and once the merchant deposits the check money is transferred to the merchant account and the processing status will be gone. BUT it is not what is happening. I have instances where the merchant either didn't receive the check or if they have received it and did not deposit it, but your account shows money transferred to the merchant account. Now you have to call BOA and try to resolve the issue and figure out where your money is. Not to mention that Customer Services itself has many issues as you cannot get hold of anyone without a hold for 30 minutes or more.

My parents passed away and I am the executor of the estate. For 2 months I’ve been trying to get information to get 2 loans paid off. First they told me to send all documents to The Estate Unit. I sent them death certificates, court documents of me being the estate rep, photo copy of my ID. Account numbers and all contact information. I called back after two weeks and was told I now have to send the same information to a different department because the departments do not share information. I see the information the mortgage department as I was told. Call back a few weeks later. They don’t have the information but now I need to send it to a title transfer department. I faxed all documents again.

Finally Wednesday I was able to talk to someone who had the information and gave me a payoff balance. I was told they would mail these documents. I asked if they could email them to me. No because they won’t be in the system for 24-48 hours. I’d have to call back and request it on Friday. I call back Friday and the guy say I’m not on the account and can’t get any information. This is the most unhelpful bank ever.

I thought BOA was a good bank for about 4 or 5 years. We were on the verge of transferring our checking account to them. For years we have maintained a FICO score from 790 to 812. In January our FICO score was 812. In January of this year, I was intending on paying $1,000 from another bank to pay ahead on my account. I made a mistake adding another zero making the payment $10,000. I quickly notified both banks. Both banks understood. A small credit card there had a balance of $1.37. For some reason that card got hung up between WF and BOA. For 4 months straight I contacted BOA to remedy the situation talking to their representatives everywhere from Savannah, GA to Arizona and finally Texas. All of the reps were polite and told me they were solving the issue. Each time the rep did not understand what happened, apologized and said they had it solved. We have maintained great credit for over 20 years.

Around May 13th I get a letter telling me my 2 accounts (the only problem being the $1.37 account) had been closed. All the while the one account that had $2,500 had never, ever been late and was always in good standing... BANK OF AMERICA viciously reported us to the Credit Bureaus dropping our FICO score from 812 TO 710 FICO SCORE... I read one report saying they were the best bank in America? Seriously! After years and years with great credit and BANK OF AMERICA RUINING MY CREDIT SCORE, we PAID THEM OFF IN FULL and we will never ever use BOA IF IT WAS THE LAST BANK ON EARTH, and we will let everyone we know about this so they will BEWARE OF BANK OF AMERICA. Worst bank I have ever dealt with. I have had a credit card with them for a few years now until I canceled it a few weeks ago. And they told me the account balance was $0 and there would be no further interest charges or fees added to the account. I even called them about a week later to make sure again and I was told the same thing. Luckily I looked at my credit and it still showed a balance of $39.50 due on my account. So of course I called them and paid it off and told them how irritated I was about the situation, because if I wouldn’t have looked they would have sent it to collections and kept adding interest to it.

Not only that but there was several months where they charged me 2 interest payments in the same month for the same amount and when I called they had no explanation and didn’t do anything to fix it. I will never bank with this bank again. They have been nothing but a headache. We have also banked with Chase for the last several years and Chase is by far better to work with. So I would steer clear of banking with Bank of America.
