We received a promotional offer to start up a business account. We submitted everything correct online and they rejected the application giving no specific reason except we had the option of calling a number or going into a physical branch. We went into the branch and they had no problem opening an account, however, they would not honor the “online” promotion because we were at the branch. Well, we didn’t want to go to the branch, we wanted to do it online. This is a bait and switch. Not a good way to start a business relationship. I walked out and started an account with Chase bank.

If you want to deposit a check from them into another bank expect a long delay on getting your funds. They will not verify that their checks are good to other banks. My check from them is on hold for 11 days because they don’t verify. So if you're broke you might be in a heap of trouble waiting like me. Lost my job, waited a month for the check and now have to wait another 11 days. Spend all saving waiting on this check just to have to wait longer because of a bank not telling another bank yes the money is available. It’s a shame.

I deposited $1,000 into an ATM, and after five minutes of processing, I received a message saying, “Sorry, this machine is not working.” I contacted customer service, and they guaranteed that the money would be credited into my account within 48 hours. It has now been six days, and I still haven’t received my money. After talking to multiple customer service representatives and supervisors, I finally got the correct answer: it might take 10 to 45 days for an investigation to be completed, with no credit to my account in the meantime. This means I have to wait that long without access to my money—completely unacceptable.
I’ve also had multiple issues with my account being incorrectly charged for fees that were never disclosed to me. These unexpected fees caused me significant financial stress, and resolving them took countless hours on the phone. Despite numerous attempts to address these issues, I was met with representatives who offered no solutions and even contradicted each other. I’m extremely disappointed with the level of service and transparency provided by Bank of America. I would strongly advise anyone considering Bank of America to think twice before opening an account. I expect better from a major bank and hope they improve their services in the future.

I honestly have no idea how Bank of America is still in business. Worst bank I have ever dealt with in my 50 years of life. I originally opened the account so someone who was paying me to do a job, who also had a Bank of America account, could easily wire money between accounts. They charged me $15 for her to wire money to me from her BOA account. Then I started seeing $12 per month charged on my checking and $8 per month on my savings. They charge fees for everything and NEVER answer the phone. The automated system is terrible.
I decided to no longer use the accounts and just use my credit union, even though it is a small FCU near Houston, TX (I now live north of Dallas). I closed my account over 5 weeks ago and still have not received the money that was in my accounts. I called and was transferred 3 times before being "connected" to the closed accounts department. That's when I heard buttons pushing and then a dial tone. There is no email for customer service now that my account is closed and no phone number for the "closed account department". I have been on hold over an hour now waiting for regular customer service again. I have never had a good experience calling Bank of America. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THEM.

Let me respectfully suggest that BOA expand its options to include a category called -5 (or more) to be used by customers who are completely, utterly and thoroughly disappointed with BOA (an apt name). I am 83 years old and have dealt with thousands of companies, large and small. I have never been treated this poorly be any other company. A couple months ago, I opened an account at BOA so I could have my Social Security check deposited in it. One check was deposited and little spent. As the date was approaching for the deposit of my second check, I tried to access my account but the passwords couldn’t be used or changed.
I called the Support line and was told that the account had been closed. CLOSED? WHY? Support could not give me any reason except that the account agreement allowed both the customer and BOA to close the account without reason or notice to the other. Several days later I got a form letter stating that the account had been closed, because the account agreement said it could be closed by either Party, and a check would be sent via USPS for the amount in the account. It has now been a week and I have not received a check from BOA. Further, my second Social Security check should have been deposited today except that because the account is closed, the check will be sent back to SSA and reissued to a new account that I will have to set up elsewhere. That means that I do not have access to TWO Social Security checks.
I asked them what I should do for food and bills without access to the 2 check amounts, they didn’t have any suggestions but they were sorry. Being sorry doesn’t put groceries in my kitchen. A much better procedure would have been to have called, texted or emailed me so at least I could have personally come and in picked up a check which I could have then deposited in a new account or cashed.
A customer approval rating barely above 1 means there are many seriously dissatisfied customers. Where are the state and national regulatory authorities when they are needed – badly needed? Why is this bank allowed to continue operations? Their statistics show that they are doing a terrible job. I want to Chair the supervisory, investigative Board.

Their phone system never has a live representative available (“high volume” no matter what time of day); the wait (on hold) loud “please continue to wait" …”Blah blah “. Noise is so repetitive every 7 seconds. Why not just play music? Clearly they are punishing people for calling. Finally when I called and set up a call back, someone talked to me but then hung up. (Lost connection? After trying to authenticate an 15 year old email address…) The staff at the branches don't know the correct procedures. Other banks are so much better.

In my opinion is not good to have 2 hostess when you only have 1 teller. The line is always super long, people waiting, frustrated, Hostess talking each other, they open 10:05 am because they were to get a coffee for themselves! This is pathetic! Hope you can see my point of view! You want more customer? YES, change attitude, behavior. It means a lot for your customers!

Bad experience with Bank of America. Don't book with a third-party online booking company with your credit card or any form of payment. Don't book from a hotel's website or fake website as it might link you to a fake booking company (Hotelsone in this case). If you put a charge on your credit card with a fake booking company, they will charge you inflated charges and claim the charges are non-refundable even if they don't tell you beforehand that the charges are non-refundable when you give them your credit card number 2 1/2 months in advance of the reservation. I haven't made a hotel booking with an online booking agent in at least 10 years and will never do so again.
The bank or credit card company won't even reimburse you if the fake booking company cancels your "supposed" reservation before your stay occurs. They said, "online booking companies automatically charge you nonrefundable fees because they are doing cost comparisons and you should know this." Not true in my case. No cost comparisons were being done by this company at a fake hotel website. You still have to pay for the fraud and the services not provided to your credit card provider or bank. That's even if you have a disputed claim for services not provided pursuant to the Fair Credit Billing Act.
My bank, Bank of America, has a "couldn't care less" attitude so I'm cancelling my cards with Bank of America which carried minimal balances so the bank could earn some interest and I could have a very good credit rating with high credit limits just for leverage purposes. Further, Bank of America did not follow Know Your Customer Rules by allowing a foreign person to add Zelle to my account and make two wrongful transfers amounting to almost $14,000 from my FDIC-insured Savings Account. These wrongful transfers were made by a person who needed an interpreter and used a different IP address. Fortunately, those funds were refunded. I strongly believe that the fake booking agent in the Philippines was the same fraudster who took these monies in two wrongful transfers. DON'T USE BANK OF AMERICA.

I have been trying to do an overseas wire transfer. I have signed up my Bank of America business account on Google Chrome. I filled up the form to create a new receipt. The page didnt allow me to create it. The button "add recipient" was grayed out. I called the bank. The agent didn't know anything more than I do. Spent 30 minutes with her. Then asked her to transfer me to a supervisor. After several trials with her she finally asked me to change the Chrome browser to Safari. Then it worked. I spent 1 hour 30 minutes for an international transfer and charged $45 for that. I told the agent if she can waive it. She said I should make the payment and then call back to ask for waiver. I paid and called back but they said they don't see the fee yet. It is a complete mess. I had similar experiences. The fees are high and the service is not good at all.

Where do I begin? The State of Arizona in cooperation with State of The Union is permitting businesses to have a sign: “ We have a right to refuse service to anyone”, right - or am I missing something here, Bank of America use to be outstanding - not any longer: If you have account with Bank of America and set up alerts, for example: for your account to stay in positive - in other words - $0.01 - you need to check that day to day, otherwise, the bank will allow businesses to take money from your account that goes into negative with having alerts set.

The story of BOA nonsense goes like this: My 87-year-old mother wrote a check to me for less than $600 from her Bank of America account. She has had the account for at least 20 years and has written checks to her kids many times. I deposited the check into my Navy Federal account via the app as I would normally do. Five days later I saw that the check amount had been withdrawn from my account. Navy Federal did not give any information as to why, only that it was returned. So I have to spend an hour of my time driving to the bank to find out what the problem is. I found out there is still no information as to why it was returned. So now I call my sister who handles my mother's affairs. She has to spend 20 minutes of her time talking to BOA about the issue. It turns out BOA thought the check was fraud. This is comical on so many levels.
My mom's signature and writing have been the same for the entire time she has had the account. The check was perfect. Now it turns out that they sent a fraud alert to my Father who passed away in 2020. No surprise he did not answer. BOA did not remove him from the account as they were supposed to. We have the letter from them accepting his death certificate. So what makes this annoying is that I have had checks presented to my commercial BOA account that were completely bogus, nothing matched, the signatures were nothing like mine, the checks were completely different and for large amounts, $9800 and $9400, but the DAs at BOA still cashed them.
I stopped writing checks to avoid this but as it turns out it just cost me more money in wire and ach fees. Go figure. I have decided I am not taking this crap anymore. The penalty for doing nothing and wasting my time will be removing my credit card processing first. That's $4000+ a month BOA is not going to get in fees. I don't care about your Platinum status or your kickback on merchant processing which you have reduced down to almost nothing. The next move will be taking the business savings somewhere else. Your .01% interest is not worth it. There are many other issues not listed here. I have had enough!!!!

Avoid this bank at all costs!! This bank has zero customer service. This bank intentionally makes transactions difficult, a simple wire transfer was meant to have been expedited and instead never went. I called for customer service and to have the process completed. Instead the rep put me on hold to 'cool off'. She didn't approve of my curt attitude due to the fact she was not listening and my wire was now 2 days late, she then hung up on me. I called back and was hung up on a second time. These will be the last transactions with this bank, I will work to close both of my business and personal accounts with them by year end.

I have been with BOA for 25+ years. I would NOT recommend this bank or any of its services to anyone. They are fine taking your money, but god forbid you actually need to access anything that requires a person. They made me almost miss my home closing because no one ever answers their 'customer service' lines. No one ever answers when you call a local bank. I had to call to manage my CD (was not allowed to do it online) and they had me on hold for 72 minutes, no call back option offered. It's criminal to take people's money and then make contacting them impossible. If you walk in to a local location, they will turn you away if you did not already make an appointment. Btw the appointments are scarce and of course they have banker's hours.

I went to the bank and deposited a Life Insurance check. I specifically asked the teller and bank manager if there was going to be a hold on the check, I was told NO and it would be available the next day. I decided to check my bank account and lo and behold there’s a 7 day hold on my check. I called the customer service line and spoke to a “manager” and I put that in quotations because he was no damn manager. He informs me that the “robot” automated system is what placed a hold on MY check. The manager then tells me they are no able to call the bank or company that the check is with to confirm funds available.
So there’s no human to human interaction. It’s a robot that determines if you get your check without a hold. I’ve been with Bank of America for over 11 years and I will be closing my account as soon as the robot releases my money. Why pay people to even work for the company if they give you false information to start with and can’t help you when you call.

On 6/9/2024 a call came in to our phone from Bank Of America's phone number (1800-432-1000) a person claiming to be a customer service representative asked us to verify some Zelle transactions we had made through Bank of America's mobile banking app. We verified a few that we had made, then were asked about a $2500 transaction. Which was $200 dollars less than our total balance in the account in question. Naturally we were panicked, we explained we did NOT make that transfer. They then asked us to verify security codes to our phone to ensure our protection. We doubled check the phone number and it was the same as on the back of our ATM cards. We had no reason to believe this was a scam.
They had all our information and verified all my account information as the scammers had compromised Bank Of America, otherwise how would they have had all my bank account information. We quickly this was fraudulent but not until our money was already gone. We went into the branch first thing the next day and closed all our accounts and transferred all the money we had into a CD for protection. The claim was filed by a BOA associate by phone earlier that same morning and that associate filed the claim as fraud. We never heard back regarding our claim and followed up about 2 weeks later only to learn that the claim had to be re-filed as a "SCAM". They explained the only way we would get our money back is if they recovered the funds. This is now 2 weeks after the initial transfer that was made.
At this point we knew because they initially filed incorrectly that the chance of recovering funds were slim. Of course they then denied the claim. Again I only found that out from my follow up call around beginning of July. They then filed again for a reconsideration. That was also denied. I then filed a complaint with CFPB, BBB, and Federal Reserve Consumer help. Once BOA received my complaints I immediately received a call from Elisa (602-379-8360 and she explained she would re-submit my claim. Today on 7/30/2024 at 1:35 p.m. I received another call from Bank of America's claims department at 1-855-255-0613. Luckily I was driving and could not answer.
Once I got home, I called the number back and the representative explained that the bank did not call me, yet the number when I called back went directly to the claims department. This is EXACTLY what happened the first time when we were victims of the $2500 withdrawal. I don't understand how an institution that is supposed to protect their consumers can take no responsibility for scammers using their secured lines and getting access to all my information to have my checking account emptied!!! I have been a client for 14 years and this has been the worst experience ever. I would not have been exposed to zelle had it not been for Bank Of America mobile app.

Absolutely worst experience over the last 3 days! My mom and her long time partner had medical issues and needed to move money between accounts and send a Zelle payment. I logged onto the app to find out the best and quickest way to remove someone of an account. I was directed that I would have to go into the branch. I got my 89 year old mom over to our local branch and they said that both people on the account would have to be there to remove themself. That's impossible as her long time partner had to be sent to a memory care center for Alzheimer's and when he was diagnosed with it we were told that he no longer could sign legal documents.
I told the personal banker this so she gave me a workaround to setup a new account online or through the app and move the money into that account. I expressed it was an urgent matter and could we just take care of it now. She said it's better to just do it in the app. So at that time I zelled 3500 for the treatment facility and took my mom home. I logged into the app and did exactly what she told me to do. I confirmed the money moved into the new account and logged out. The next morning it looked like I hadn't done any transfers or zelled. I called to see if they received the money and they hadn't. So that day I spent more than 2 hours on the phone to find out why.
I finally spoke to a nice rep who said they were part of the financial institution that was hit by the latest outage. Mind you I worked in technology for more than 25 years. I told him I had been moved around because I had opposing directives between the app and the branch on how to handle this delicate situation, dragging my 89 year old mom with. He apologized but said they were just informed of the data breach and management wouldn't let them take calls. Really?? That's your solution to a data breach by turning of your servers and instructing customer service not to answer calls, smh. A simple splash screen on the website and the app would have eliminated hours and days of fielding days of customers' calls and I've lost my faith in a bank that my mom has had for almost 40 years. Shame on you Bank of America, shame on you!

The check was 100% legitimate, and was accepted at the window, I was told finds would be available the following morning. The next day I attempted to open my account app to check the balance and I could not login. I was directed to reset my password and the app said my information did not match their system. My check had been flagged for suspicious behavior and Bank of America had closed my account. So at this point, I could not access my paycheck or do any business on the account at all because it was in closure.
I called to get assistance and was informed the account closure date was six weeks away, and that upon closure they would send me a cashier's check for my balance. I had the option to request hardship access to my funds, but the check was still on hold (an 8 day hold mind you) so I would need to APPLY for that after the hold date and the amount of time it takes to get access to funds from there could be between an hour and 7 business days. There is also no way to appeal the account closure because it was closed "based on a business decision" and it is in the paperwork that they reserve the right to close accounts at any time, no explanation, no heads up, they just close the account and you cannot access your funds until they process the cashier's check on their end. All of this for a payroll check written by a well known and established company, simply unacceptable. I would not recommend banking with this company.

Several days later I found out my accounts was closed and would have to apply for a new card. The card had an annual fee, which they said could not be adjusted on a new card. They were unable to issue a replacement card. Then I started getting notices that they were unable to approve my recent claim. I had not made any claims! Date of experience: January 30, 2024.

I recently opened a new business checking account. When I went to pull some money out on Friday, the account was locked. It had asked me for a pin and I gave the pin they mailed me but it said it was wrong and locked me out. I called the number on the screen around 6:15 AM. I was trying to call before the grand baby woke because I was on babysitting duty. I was on hold for 45 min and after speaking to the first woman for 45 min, she couldn’t figure it out so she transferred me to someone else who transferred me to someone else who told me I had to call back to reestablish my identity. I called back and was on hold 45 min before a woman picked up and then told me I had to call another number.
The next number, spoke to a woman for 1 hour and 15 min and she could not figure it out. They finally told me I had to come in. I told them I cannot come in. I have to babysit, work, then babysit again. They said I could come on Saturday. Today, I drove to a far off bank because the one by me was closed. They said they were short staffed and had no one who could help me and sent me to another bank even further from my home. That bank had someone who could help but I had to wait for her to return from her lunch break. After she returned, she tried for 45 min and then proceeded to tell me I have to come back on a weekday. That the people who can fix it are only in on week days! The problem is I work on weekdays and babysit on weekdays and don’t have hours to go to the bank. I have no access to my money.
I asked to speak to a supervisor on the phone and they refused to give me a supervisor. I told them I was going to take my business elsewhere and they were like okay, fine. One lady I spoke to even suggested I turn my phone on and off! How in the world would that help anything and I was on my phone and computer. All it would have done would have been disconnected us and they do not have a way to call you back either! Very disappointed! I still don’t have my money and I need it to pay bills.

Bank of America has currency exchange services. When you initiate the order you have a choice on the size of bills: large, medium, small. I always ask for small. I have NEVER received small currency. Each time they say "It depends on what we have in the till at the time." They are very fast at sending the money--often the next business day, but I would rather they take an extra day or two or three to fulfill my request accurately. I have concluded they do not have the ability to fulfill that request and are misrepresenting their currency exchange services. They need to change their process or change the description of those services. I would prefer they change the process, but am not confident they listen to customer feedback.
Why this matters: imagine showing up in a country where a 50 or 100 note cannot be used locally because it is considered so very large for that country. It is a very vulnerable feeling. I do all of my business with Bank of America, so I have a predisposition to use them, but I will not use currency exchange services again. I have complained many times, the last time they created a service request and I never heard back, I think that was just an empty process to get off the phone.

They canceled the loan application and did not tell me. When I called them they said if I paid off the line of credit with Umpqua then they could reopen the loan. There was a fraud charge on my line with Umpqua and it took them ten days to resolve.
Once it was resolved, I was told to fax the statement to Bank of America but that it probably wouldn't reach them in time because the loan officer was on East Coast time. I am on West Coast time and had that letter to Bank of America by Thursday, June 27 with plenty of time to meet the deadline. But no one looked at the file on the morning of the 28th and the loan was canceled with NO NOTIFICATION TO ME again. There was no way to get ahold of them because they had wiped my loan out of their system. Bank of America failed to notify me of the cancellation of my loan both times. Worse yet, the cruise was horrible so I decided to close the card account. Dealing with Bank of America was a bad experience. I had a $7 balance on the card that was on autopay, but I wanted to pay it when I closed the account. BOA refused to use the autopay information to pay the bill; they lied and said they did not have it. So, I had to hunt for a check and read the routing and account numbers. Updated on 07/07/2024: Let me summarize the bank experience. My husband's debit card was stolen, and an individual posing as helpful at the walk-up ATM switched cards. The thief then gave the card to his girlfriend, who withdrew money from the drive-through bank. Additionally, one of them entered the bank and made another withdrawal. We reported the incident to the bank, expecting them to investigate and resolve the issue, However, they mishandled the case. After some time, the bank refunded the amount taken from the ATM, followed by the amount taken from inside the bank the next day. However, the following week, they mistakenly refunded the same amount from the ATM withdrawal again. When we contacted them to inquire about this, they acknowledged the error and promised to rectify it on June 28th.
In the meantime, they sent us printed photos of the girl who withdrew money from our card at the drive-through, including a photo of my husband at a different bank and different date. The photo of my husband was taken back in February, not in May when this incident occurred. Based on this photo, the bank wrongly assumed that my husband and I were involved in the theft, accusing us of giving the money to ourselves. The lady in the photo who was using the debit card was maybe in her late 20's so they assumed that was me, (I am guessing) even though my husband and I are both in our 60's. The bank informed us that they would also deduct the original ATM amount on June 28th but remained silent about the larger sum taken inside the bank. The reason for this omission was that they couldn't find a photo or video of my husband entering the bank.
It seemed as though they weren't genuinely interested in investigating the actual culprits, even though both individuals were captured on video. It would have been a simple matter to identify them with a proper investigation. Furthermore, the bank failed to request identification when the thief made a large withdrawal inside the bank. We contacted the bank's fraud department, and a representative acknowledged the mistakes made in handling the case. However, when he documented his findings, he mistakenly posted the notes to the wrong case. He posted it on the duplicate error. When we followed up with the bank, the person we spoke to initially struggled to locate the case until we mentioned the name of the representative who had made the notes. She eventually found the information and reposted it to the correct case, along with her own notes.
On June 28th, the duplicate transaction was removed, but the original one remained in the bank, unresolved. Feeling stressed and frustrated, we contacted the bank for an update, only to be told that the matter had been resolved. Naturally, we were rightfully angry, because in the beginning, the bank had swiftly shifted blame onto us, even providing photos they believed were us. Now they decided it has all been resolved, but they didn't bother to let us know. They didn't inform us of their findings or provide photo of the person who walked inside. They had no intention of even telling us that the issue had been resolved.
We knew Bank of America would never apologize for all their mistakes and all the stress they put us through, but the fact that they left us with, "We are going to take the money back and let law enforcement know about their findings" And just leaving us like that. Not telling us this problem had been resolved ... This opened my eyes to the fact that they don't care one way or the other about their customers. They show no respect. People can make or break a business.
Original review: On May 23rd, 2024, my husband encountered a distressing incident at an ATM that resulted in our bank card being stolen and a significant amount of money being withdrawn from our account. Unfortunately, the bank's response to this incident has been deeply disappointing. My husband was approached by an individual who deceitfully switched his card without his knowledge and observed his PIN number. Subsequently, this individual handed off the card to a female accomplice who withdrew $350 from our account at the drive-through. Shockingly, another individual managed to withdraw $1500 from our account by going into the bank. It was only through our vigilance in monitoring our account that we discovered these unauthorized transactions.
We reported the incident to the bank, which treated the two incidents as separate cases. After an agonizing wait of 8 days, they eventually returned the $1500, followed by the $350 a day later. However, their mishandling continued when they inadvertently credited us with an additional $350. To our dismay, a month later, we received a letter accusing us of involvement in the theft and demanding the return of the mistakenly credited $350, along with the extra $350. The bank's investigation was woefully inadequate and poorly executed. They based their conclusions on a photograph of a young lady using my husband's card and another photo of my husband from a completely unrelated incident in February at a different bank. It is evident that no genuine investigation took place, as they simply searched for any photo of my husband, regardless of time or location. This lack of effort and attention to detail is disheartening.
We escalated our concerns to a supervisor in the fraud department, who initially agreed with us and promised to reopen the case. However, two days later, we learned that the supervisor had left notes on the wrong $350, further exacerbating the situation. While the case remains pending, the bank plans to deduct both $350 amounts from our account on Friday, June 28th, causing further financial strain. The bank's disregard for customers living paycheck to paycheck is distressing. Their actions have caused immense stress and anxiety, and it is evident that they lack empathy for the challenges faced by individuals in such circumstances. Their failure to promptly resolve this matter and their lack of concern for our well-being is deeply disappointing.
It is perplexing that the bank did not review surveillance footage from the ATM where the incident occurred. This footage would have clearly shown my husband and the individual who tampered with his card. Additionally, we find it puzzling that the bank did not request identification during the in-person withdrawal, as is customary. Their negligence in these aspects raises serious questions about their commitment to customer security.
Bank of America (BOA) has failed to fulfill their responsibility of protecting their customers, and we are now considering seeking legal assistance to compel them to conduct a thorough investigation. It is disheartening that we find ourselves in this position, as my husband should not have had to endure such an incident. We believe that BOA must be held accountable and take concrete measures to rectify their shortcomings in customer protection and security protocols. In conclusion, BOA's handling of this security breach has been subpar, and their lack of effort in investigating the matter thoroughly is a significant concern. As customers, we expect better from an institution that prides itself on customer service.

The biggest issue is their unreasonable hold times on checks. They do not warn you that they will hold your hard earned, critical money for up to 10 days. I have been in a bind now multiple times because of this. The last straw is that the teller told me that funds would be available the next day, only to have a total of an 11 day hold put on a cashiers check from Chase bank.
Then, when you try to talk to anyone with any authority who could help you get even a little of it released, you will find that no one is able to do that. What’s more, no one I have done work for uses BoA any more, so that only prolongs the process. If you need a bank who can help you grow and cares even a little about you as a consumer, go elsewhere. I made a mistake adding another zero making the payment $10,000. I quickly notified both banks. Both banks understood. A small credit card there had a balance of $1.37. For some reason that card got hung up between WF and BOA. For 4 months straight I contacted BOA to remedy the situation talking to their representatives everywhere from Savannah, GA to Arizona and finally Texas. All of the reps were polite and told me they were solving the issue. Each time the rep did not understand what happened, apologized and said they had it solved. We have maintained great credit for over 20 years.
Around May 13th I get a letter telling me my 2 accounts (the only problem being the $1.37 account) had been closed. And they told me the account balance was $0 and there would be no further interest charges or fees added to the account. I even called them about a week later to make sure again and I was told the same thing. Luckily I looked at my credit and it still showed a balance of $39.50 due on my account. So of course I called them and paid it off and told them how irritated I was about the situation, because if I wouldn’t have looked they would have sent it to collections and kept adding interest to it.
Not only that but there was several months where they charged me 2 interest payments in the same month for the same amount and when I called they had no explanation and didn’t do anything to fix it. I will never bank with this bank again. They have been nothing but a headache. We have also banked with Chase for the last several years and Chase is by far better to work with. At one point they “consumed” an SSI account I had with them for my adopted son with fees until it was gone. They can’t even charge fees on that account. That’s the only way I got the money back. It took almost a year of getting told there was “nothing that could be done” until I brought up the fact that they could charge fees to his SSI account. It took five minutes to get the cash they said I had no right to. That’s my experience. I am currently going through the hassle of changing all my direct deposits in order to close my account.

They also have very limited customer service hours, so you'd have better luck banking with the USPS. DO NOT USE. THEY ARE A SCAM! You can choose so many other banks that actually let you access your money. By the way, they make you listen to 30 minutes of marketing while you're on hold to get help. There is no call back option. Basically, you're verbally assaulted by using Bank of America. This doesn't even cover all of the fees and near zero interest on savings.

I had to file a claim because when I was in Reno the ATM said I ursed showed error when my money was supposed to come out so I checked my app. It didn’t say no money came out so I wasn’t concerned. I took out more money and it was fine. Three days later when I got home I noticed a $300 charge went through. Lo and behold it was that one so no I didn’t think to keep the receipt or anything not thinking my own bank wouldn’t fight for me.
You would think Bank of America would go above and beyond to prove that I’m right. First they put in the wrong claim in even after me calling and speaking to over nine workers that it was the wrong claim. They still proceeded to put the wrong one through so it got denied and now months and months later they deny the real claim. I’m taking this one the whole way above you guys if I have to. I don’t have hundreds just to throw away. I wouldn’t trust Bank of America with anybody’s money anymore. They asked me if the bank I went with was a credit union for the no maintenance fee I laughed and said no. They tried and offered me a lower maintenance fee to keep my account going. Nope, I’m good. I'm glad to be out of this mess.
Original Review: It’s been an on going fight between me, BOA, and PayPal. And now currently I’m out of 500$. Highly discouraged. And just want to close down all my accounts. After 10 years of being with them it has been nothing but a problem. Account was hacked then they allowed almost 1300 to be taken was only awarded 300$. Even with the proof from PayPal stating it was their fault and All charges would be waived and they would award me 800$ but never did smh. BOA said they would get my funds back but never did. I just roll my eyes that they both lied through call and on paper. I’m tired and frustrated and honestly they lost a customer. All I can suggest is go with a different bank unless you want to go without. I’m glad I transferred all my paychecks to cap one and member1st or I would have nothing for my kids. We would have been going hungry and this situation would have snowballed into something bigger than 800$ and fees.

Bank of America will change your payment dates unilaterally. When they make you make a late payment because of the shenanigans, they refuse to credit your payments and bill you for the whole amount regardless of your previous payment, stating that you checked off on the monthly Auto payment. Then they will say it is your fault for checking off on the monthly automatic payment and it is your fault that they did not credit your account. It is ridiculous. They will try to gaslight you and stating this is your fault for Bank of America not crediting payments done weeks earlier, and refuse to adjust the balance. Then they stated that they are a Superior Bank because they're willing to give you a refund weeks later. Then there is another caveat saying that they will apply to all of your balance on the card regardless of the payment due date on the card.

As of now I haven’t seen a penny but I provided proof of the scam and they took forever to close it and find in my favor but the amount of all the money they agree to send me one account amount $1,097 and still hold the other two till they decide to send it if ever. This is pure injustice and because of fine print they can do this. Their policies are inhuman and they can literally make people homeless or flat broke at their own policy. I highly suggest looking at the fine print on any bank policy especially this one and suggest you keep as little in the bank as possible on any bank but especially this one. I rather keep it locked up on a fireproof safe than deal with this.
This bank is the worst bank I ever seen but the employees are friendly. The policies do not protect the bank users on their agenda. My credit score will now go down because BofA is running the check (unless the re-freeze works on 2 out of 3), and I'll be stuck with a credit card I don't want. This has taken way too much time, which works to their advantage, AI does that. Like "mental health," they hold all the cards, you're just their sucker/patsy.

Been a customer for 19 yrs. Unhappy. Call bank, wait up to hour to speak. Bank call centers closed on weekends. Need 24/7 help. Reverse payments I've made without notification. Reverse given credits anytime, even if overdraws account then charge overdraft fees. Where is customer service B of A? You make money from money I keep in your bank but Can't get help when needed. Fed up with long hold times and closed call support. Where's the service these days? Very unhappy, moving to another bank. Wells Fargo has 24/7 customer support.

I have over 800 credit, meaning I pay my bills on time. I also always pay off the balance so that I can avoid interest. With too much going on in my family I accidentally paid my card from the wrong account. The account had insufficient funds for the amount due. When I realized this had happened, I had already paid the balance for the next month, early, which covered the payment I missed. I called to explain before any interest charges appeared on my account. The representative told me there wasn't anything she could do at the moment but to call back if I saw interest charges when my next statement came out. Indeed there were charges and I called.
All this said, BofA is refusing to reverse charges and they don't give anyone a break for making human mistakes. I have never paid them late before, and have great credit, so there is no reason they couldn't help me out. With them, you are a number, not a person. The customer service rep I first spoke with, Lucy, was friendly and courteous, but her manager, Eli, was monotone and robotic. When I asked if the spelling was E L I, he said "yes, short and to the point." My experience was awful. I'm paying off the balance and not using the card. I have another card with great rewards that I'll use instead. I like the Airline, but using the card isn't worth the rewards when you are treated as a number.

If I could give less stars I would. The one helpful associate was Melissa. If only her hands weren’t tied by the terrible fraud practices of this bank. I had a transaction process which made my account over $600 in the negative. It was fraud and I attempted to report it the day it happened. But it had to finish processing. Which makes no sense. So when I was able to file the claim it now is going to take up to 45 days to investigate. No credit while checking the fraud claim?? Oh no. Why would Bank of America help their customers over 10 years.

Friday 22nd of March 2024 at around 1am I want to withdraw from an ATM machine number ** Bank of America on Westheimer Rd. Houston Tx. My card was debited but cash was not dispense “500$” a message came on the screen that the ATM was bad and my account will be refunded, 9am in the morning I walk into the bank to recount my experience with the ATM. On getting to the bank I physically saw technicians working on that particular ATM machine, I told the manager what happened and she gave me a number to call. I did call the number and waited for almost 45min to 1hour before somebody picked. The associate I spoke with put in the information for my refund but redirected me to another department for my refund of $500 my pay from my job.
I have bank with Bank of America for over 4years now if not more. The person I was referred to said I will get a refund within 2working days. I was going to use the money to pay my car loan and the other part to fix my car breaks, as you read this today Monday 25th of March 2024 I have not been refunded. I would have missed 2days of work by tomorrow because I could not get the money to fix my car breaks even after I have got the parts. I went into the bank again today. The banker told me “oh you should be refunded by tomorrow Tuesday 26th of March 2024” or I should call the number I was given to get more information about my refund.
I called the number. Waited again for about 40min before an associate pick. She said I should have been refund by today so she pass me on again to another department knowing would have closed as at the time. I cannot call anybody to help me when people know am working right? Bank of America put me in your shoes. Will you continue to bank with you if you are me? Please refund my money before I take you to court for my lost time and wages. This bank is so structured in a way that you cannot hold anybody accountable. So far I have spoken over the phone with 6 associates and 3 different bankers in the bank and none of them gave a definite answer, the manager I met today said they don’t have control over the ATM, but the ATM is on your property operating under your name. Your banking system is a scam in itself.

Deposited a check for $8,000. BOA put 7day hold, next day deposited 2 more identical checks into 2 other bank(s) accounts. Funds were available immediately. All 3 cleared the next day. My check is still on hold. Worst bank I ever dealt with. Shouldn't even give one star.

Stay away from this bank, yes they have a lot atms, but that is pretty much it. I had Checking, Saving account and Credit card from BOA, all of them suck. You always get charged for some stupid fee, which you never knew. The LINE IS ALWAYS BUSY, you need to hold on the line for hours, when you walk in to the branch MANAGER or representative is always busy, you need to set up appointment just to talk to someone, so do yours favor and stay away from Bank of America. Bunch of SCAMMERS. I would rate this bank -1000000.

I hate this bank. It takes 4 months for a refund. Three months for a credit to your account. Even if I get a return from a merchant it takes almost 5 months for it to post. Don't even get me started about my check when it gets deposited what I go through. I have never been with a bank with these type of policies. And they have made my credit chance 0.... That makes me believe with a 1.6 star rating either the people who works at the bank left those great reviews about this bank or they paid people for that type of review.

Just got off the phone after arguing 30 minutes with a representative who kept repeating corporate jargon, after asking her to put it blunt for me she said the reason I couldn't get my $600 check was because they did not have the funds to give it to me for another 5 days. They've always been problematic, if you choose this bank get ready to make lots of appointments to get your account fixed because you can't do it over the phone.

After 3+ years of having my account, always active and always in good standing I changed my phone number thru their app. This immediately got my account locked. So I tried calling the number they gave me to call, after being transferred 4 times (1 hour on phone later) they tell me it can only be unlocked in person. So I go to the bank, there I have to wait 1.5 hours just to be seen at their Fondren Rd location in Houston. I tell the guy who I was assigned to I'm there to unlock my account so I can pay my bills due today.
He asks all the questions he could come up with to verify it's me (even though I handed him my driver's license and Bank of America debit card for the locked account), 30 more minutes later he supposedly had unlocked the account. But instead and to add insult to injury the so called banker called Mario ** unlocked the login but proceeded to delete my debit card from the account and block my ability to use Zelle and/or to link the account to my CashApp. So now I have 3 different late fees all because he lied and said the account was unlocked. Save yourself and don't use Bank of America, go anywhere else; even a squirrel under a bridge will take care of your money better.

They prioritize appointments over walk ins and then they blame you for the actions of known criminals (according to the bankers). So this bank should be shut down permanently and all employees should be retrained on customer satisfaction and they need to learn to NOT blame the customers for the action of others

Auto Payment System Issues: The auto payment system is supposed to offer convenience and reliability, but my experience was far from it. I encountered multiple issues, including failed payment transactions and incorrect billing amounts. Despite setting up everything correctly, the system failed to process payments on the designated dates, leading to late fees and unnecessary stress.
Customer Service Experience: Seeking resolution, I reached out to BOA's customer service. Unfortunately, the service was subpar. Long wait times were just the tip of the iceberg. When I finally got through to a representative, the lack of empathy and unwillingness to resolve the issue was apparent. Instead of offering solutions, the conversation felt dismissive and unproductive.

I was a Bank of America customer for a long time and they started closing a lot of branches and I left because it was. It is convenient. I went back to Bank of America. I've been back with them for a little over a year, I have direct deposit with them checking and savings but when I deposit a check even a cashier's check they want to hold it. They say for up to 10 days but they still don't want to give you your money. I do better off using Chime, NetSpend or any other company who doesn't treat me this way. I'm done with Bank of America as soon as I get my money if I ever do.
