I deposited a check for $2500, they told me 300 of it would be available the next morning, they even gave me a printout showing me when my money would be available to me. The money never showed up and they deposited the check $300 short. They stole $300 from me. Do not bank with this company. The way they stayed alive is by stealing money. Yes I will be getting lawyers.

If NO stars were an option that is what I would be selecting. Bank of America was fully aware about an issue with members being scammed through Zella in recent articles I have read. Where was their consideration in sharing this information?! It is alarming to me that on a text thread bearing the BANK OF AMERICA NAME AND LOGO a scammer can access just like the bank does! How are we supposed to know who the bank is and who the scammer is?! Even before this, I can't begin to tell you how many debit cards were compromised, and a new one had to be issued. One was in the mail and got hacked before it was even received. I'll be taking my business of 28 + years elsewhere along with everyone else I know. I will never recommend Bank of America again! BANKERS BEWARE!

I had Bank of America pay a bill for us monthly through Bill Pay. I assumed it was getting done because it was being deducted from my account statement. Two months later a get a notification from the company that I owed two months worth of bills. I contacted Bank of America (which was a nightmare in itself) and they said, "Yeah, you're right. The checks were never received." That's it! I was on the verge of a collection agency at my door and they had no explanation for it. I will not be using Bank of America to pay my bills anymore. I cannot trust that they are going to do it.

That is in the account I have called multiple times a day for 7 days and after being told it will be 3-5 business days I still don't have my money! They are liars and thieves!

When I noticed a fraudulent transaction on my account, I called customer service right away, and all they did was transfer the call to the appropriate division. I've been contacting them for more than a week, and they're continuously transferring the calls. Damn, no decency, no compassion. I lost a significant amount of money due to their insensitivity, and I am confident that they are so callous that they won't bother to contact me again.

They say the check is returned but money order can't be returned. (They did twice to my account.) BOA never admit their mistake and shift the responsibility onto customer.

Would you call the 800 number you do not get to talk to a live person. It is nothing but a computer that can’t understand a single word you have to say to the point I am done after 10 years I have already went to a new bank and opened a new account. I had a company defraud me out of $112 on Monday. I filed a dispute online, and no one ever called to follow up. I called back today, Friday, with full blown Covid. After 5 phone calls, and over 2 hours of holds and transfers, I STILL couldn't get anyone on the phone from existing claims to help me. It just kept transferring me in circles. The last call I made, I was also online with Terry (a customer service rep "who couldn't help me because he's not in that department") the whole time, who first hand was witnessing how impossible it was to get a live rep from claims on the phone.

I still have not gotten anyone on the phone. Meanwhile they're allowing this company walk away with $112 of my money and there's nothing I can do to get someone on the phone. I have emails from the company pretty much rubbing it in my face that they got away with it, saying they don't care about any dispute, and I have no way to get it to the bank! There's no place to add it to the claim online. What has happened to this bank, for crying out loud?!?!? After almost 24 years of being a loyal customer, I'll be closing all of my accounts at Bank of America as soon as my Covid is gone.

Last Saturday night I found someone made purchases using the money in my checking account without my authorization. I googled the merchant and it was already closed, so apparently, this was a fraud. I called the number on my debit card and all the numbers I could find online, and all I got was "Our office is closed. Please visit the nearest ATM for help." It looks like nobody at the bank works over the weekend. Good for their employees but horrendous for their clients. I felt like someone invaded my home, I desperately called 911, but nobody answered me. I could only depend on myself to stop the thief from stealing more of my hard-earned money.

On Monday morning I immediately visited a branch for help. However, the staff said there was nothing they could do because the transactions were still pending. Even after the transactions were already posted to my account, I did not hear anything from Bank of America about the suspicious activity which happened to my account. Now I feel unsafe about keeping my hard-earned money with this bank.

I don’t know about anywhere else but in Southern California it doesn’t matter what Bank of America you go to, there’s always no more than two tellers and the wait is almost always an hour. They could care less about their customers or providing good service. They just want your money like any other place. The line is literally out the door and it’s hard to understand why it seems like the staff is so unconcerned with providing service. There’s never any help wanted signs or anything to show that they’re trying to hire on more help. Don’t bank here if you want to get things done because you won’t when you bank with Bank of America.

My name is Steven Morgan CEO of Talk of the Town Group LLC. We have been doing business with you for the last several years. Recently due to our company name change we were instructed to open new accounts. We opened the new accounts and have had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE! Recently a client of ours gave us a $10,000 check from his company. Please realize we deposit over $200,000 payments a month. Bank of America put a 10 day hold on the check. 3 days later without notifying us BANK OF AMERICA put a FREEZE on this account. After calling 12 times and getting all kinds of stories we find out the same check with the 10 days hold on it has caused this freeze.

To help out we called the Owner of the check, and the bank it was written on. All verified the check was cashed on November 23rd. No one the bank or the owner has received a call or email from Bank of America about this check. I have attempted to give their information to the Bank Agents to help them with their process. It has now been 4 days for the freeze and 10 days for the check. All they tell me is the same thing they told me 4 days ago they are working on it. In the meantime they have bounced over 10 checks causing problems with our vendors and clients. We HAVE LOST OVER $100,000 in revenue as a result of the freeze. It is PAYROLL TODAY and 30 employees are waiting for their paychecks. BANK OF AMERICA says, "WE ARE SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE."

We will be closing all our accounts. I will spend the last 20 years of my life telling everybody my story of how banks have gotten so large they JUST DON’T CARE. You have $21,000 of my money and YOU WILL NOT RELEASE IT! You ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW! You are HOLDING HOSTAGE MY COMPANY! I can only hope this email will start a process that makes BANK OF AMERICA PAY!! This is the first of many letters I will be writing. You have definitely screwed the wrong person. O’, I’m sorry for your inconvenience!

I recently opened a bank loan assist account with Bank of America. Which they offered me for being a loyal customer of 5 years or more. I have actually been with the company for about 10 years. I took the $500 loan offered because my car died and needed an emergency down payment to finance a vehicle. The loan is broken into three payments which I had already paid the first due 3 weeks prior to the due date.

My next payment is due January 9th and the first payment was due December 9th which had already been paid in full way before the date. I had to transfer money from a savings account into a checking account due to my rent being taken out of my checking account. I selected 584 to be transferred over to cover my car payment internet payment and to have money for the week. I accidentally clicked it to be transferred into the loan assist account because all of a sudden after years and years the loan assist was at the top of the list when it had always been my main checking account on the top of the list. I transferred the money, noticed the mistake immediately as the money was not in my checking account. Called them as soon as they open that morning and received absolutely no assistance. Was told that they have to hold the money for 5 business days before they can even give it back.

I begged and pleaded with them, explain to them that bills were going to be overdue because of this and that it was my money to do my grocery shopping and get back and forth to work for gas. As well as pay the bills due that week. They pretty much told me oh well I made the mistake I have to wait the five business days for just under $600 of my money to be put back into my account because I made one mistake. They told me that I was going to get a call back for an update never received that call. They not very understanding and again it makes no sense that they can take the money out immediately but cannot return it.

They absolutely can return it they just don't feel like going through those processes. Like one of the other reviews said here it seems like they pick and choose who they're actually going to help. I even asked the representative so you're telling me as an employee of that bank they wouldn't fix this for you immediately. And they were both just literally quiet which tells me they have the ability to they just won't. So now with my car loan I'm going to get penalized 3 weeks before Christmas. And it's just blows my mind that they were just so dismissive especially seeing as I was offered this loan due to the fact that I was a loyal customer as they put it. Not to mention the amount of money that I transferred into the loan assist account was over $250 more than I owed so why wasn't that red flagged in the first place is my question.

I understand that I made the mistake and I hit the wrong button but people make mistakes every day and I have to jump through hoops now to get this fixed and pay extra fees and late fees on loans when I had the money in the account. I could see if it covered the whole loan and only a tiny bit more but I literally transferred $250 more than I even owe on this loan and I'm over a month ahead on the loan on top of this. My next payment wasn't due until January 9th for $168. And the entirety of the loan left was only 330 dollars. It seems to me that them switching that to being the top of the account in the list means that they're hoping people make this mistake and they just don't fight with it. I will say one thing I'm looking into a new bank and I will never take out another loan or credit card with this company again.

In May of this year, I applied for a work from home job by ASH. In June of this year, I unknowingly fell for a job scam where I applied and got hired by a company American Specialty Health as a digital health coach or so I thought and was sent 2 checks of 4992.00 each which was supposed to buy the equipment that I needed for my new position with the company. The interview took place via text on Microsoft Teams app. Then I was instructed to send the deposited money from my checking account electronically to my so called team leader Ashley ** and to a vendor by the name of Sherrie ** via Zelle and Cash App. Ashley wanted me to process a 3rd check but I was alerted by BOA that my account was overdrawn by 6k. I had to file a claim, BOA sent me a new debit card and they seemed to care…for the time being.

They took their sweet time “investigating” and doing “research” but I was shocked that they pre-approved the fake checks when I barely had anything in there to begin with and they had the nerve to victim shame me as well as blame me for the crime itself plus they wouldn’t tell me who or where the money was electronically sent to. They sent me 2 temporary credits which became permanent which didn’t make a difference because my account was frozen. They also sent me over 8k in temporary credits from Cash App but they strongly denied it and called me a liar even after I faxed them all of the paperwork, police report and other reports.

I also filed a police report, a report through the IL Attorney General, Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau. And surprisingly around that time frame, there a pending class action lawsuit involving BOA, Zelle and whoever they're associated with. Then I found out that they not only pick and choose who they help out in similar cases like mine but they have a long history of doing this. My friend who works at a bank told me that they weren’t supposed to pre-approve checks without verifying to see if it’s legit. He told me that he had a friend who went through the same thing but got out of it after he submitted a police report and proof to collections which I’m going to do the same thing since I still have everything from the paperwork the scammers had me fill out and send back to them as well as everything BOA sent me.

To this day, I think it was an inside job because I did some investigating of my own and come to find out that the real Ashley is currently serving her 20+ year prison sentence for murder and I have the newspaper article as proof as well as the phone numbers that I was contacted from. They need to be held accountable because this isn’t right at all plus they continued to tell me that I was protected by their $0 Liability Guarantee but yet I was sent 2 claim denial letters along with an approval claim letter but yet y’all want me to pay back 6k that I don’t owe?! I don’t think so!!!

If you look at the many reviews below, you'll read the personal details of how terrible this bank is. They don't care about the customer. The customer is a number and they just don't care. They are so big and so large that they know they can treat you however they feel like. If they want to lock you out of your account and call it a "system issue" then they can do so. If they want to charge you excessive fees, then they can also do that. Like many other, I've been with this bank for over 20 years. I tried sending some money to family via BillPay and my account got locked. I call them, hold for a long time and then they transfer me to the fraud department who can't help and send me back to the online banking department who also can't help and then cut the call.

I call back, hold for more time, speak to online banking who then transfers me to the fraud department who says that I'll get a temporary password via mail. So, I wait about a week to get a temporary password through the U.S. Mail. I then use it and it doesn't work! I call back and then they finally are able to fix it. I get into my account and send money to family again since it got shut down the first time. I'm hopeful and it says it will get to them in a week. Great, it's already 2 weeks late but at least it's finally going. I go to login today and my account is locked out again on the first try logging in too! I call them and reach online banking who transfers me to the fraud department and then I get a message that says the fraud department is closed and the phone cuts off.

I call back and after holding for quite some time again I get online banking who tells me they have to transfer me to the fraud department. I tell them that they're closed and they tell me "no, that department is open 24 hours a day." This agent was kinder and actually verified that they could reach someone at the fraud department except that they discovered that the fraud department was closed. They then tell me that it must be a "system issue" and that I'll need to contact the fraud department on the next business day which is 3 days away. So, I can't access my online banking for at least 3 days.

Thankfully, there are more options for banking and I only have an old account with them that I don't use as a primary account. There are SO MANY better banks and credit unions. Do some research and get a bank that has better customer service, reimburses you for any ATMs, and pays you interest to hold your money and doesn't have minimum requirements to keep your account open. Ally Bank comes to mind as a far superior bank. But don't take my word for it, do some research on bankrate.com to find so many better options than this terrible goliath of a bank.

While I was at the branch I called customer service and waited on the phone for 22 minutes I was told that the branch should be able to order it for me to asked them to call the back office... Now the rep from the branch called customer service. They told her no that the customer should call instead to request the paper. Once again I called customer service just to get the same answer... asked to talk to a manager which name is Mike, he told me there is nothing he can do other for me to wait now 10 BUSINESS DAYS, just to get a simple reference letter.

I have direct deposit, each time I go to BofA ATM on 2 locations. The bank has permanently closed but the ATMs are supposedly in full function, I get in line behind the cars,, then I go to the whole process of withdrawing $$$, at the very end of process, “No cash withdrawals at this location." Last year it use to say "System can not process Withdrawals." In 2020 during pandemic it at least told the truth. It says this: "This location is out of funds pls. Try another location." This year it's happened more often. I have to go to a bar or grocery store to use Kiosk & get charged, $4.99 for transaction fee & $2.50 twice kiosk fee, that’s $10.00 for one transaction regardless of how much cash you're taking out, $20.00 is the lowest amount you can take out but the same charges apply.

The bank ATM was suppose to be the safest way to get cash out to avoid compiling transaction fees. Even grocery stores & Walmart used to give you cash back after shopping using debit card, now these places are charging too, I used the grocery store, bought a gallon of milk and ask for $200.00 cash back, I was charged $3.50. Not as bad as kiosk. In some establishments anywhere from $7.50 to $10.00. Still bad. It's gluttony, when a consumer wants to obtain cash the establishment gives you a bad time & discourages you to do so, they turn the people away & out, that's disgusting enough to give up. Don't they realize that money is gonna be spent by the consumers right back to them? I'm probably the only one taking the time & making an effort to bring this up, these are dark times, nobody cares, I'm at the tail end of my journey, why does the remainder of my years have to be inflicted with so much distress & hardship???

Who Cares huh??? Yeah right ugh.. I follow the rules, I follow the system, this is what we're told & advised, put your funds in the bank, use debit card for expenses, auto bill pay, etc… The bank will protect & secure your funds. This started to sound like Scam. I felt this way in the past 5 years. I've been banking online for a good long 20 yrs. The bank part of my daily graces have just added to more scrutiny & distress.

After reporting and being on phone for 4 hours being transferred and on HOLD, I went to bank....a huge 4 story lobby and almost empty. The Manager would not see me as she knew I was upset and wanted this taken care of. She was sitting in lobby with an open notebook so knew she just blew me off. And her tactic was to insult me because I was angry!!! I can not give them a worse review and as of 3 weeks later, I was told for FIRST time to close my account when I called THEM. I have been sickened by the whole process and the fact that no one called to ask ME how this might have happened. It will take a day but I am closing acct. I am a PREFERRED CUSTOMER, whatever that means. Branch banks are barely open, no more drive thru and ATMs are often out of order.

Going to a local bank today for checking. Also adore Synchrony Bank for online Money Market and Hi Yield Savings, CDs. Prefer a brick and mortar, but for BOA, do not get any benefit, such as personal help in times like this. This has caused me hours of phone waits, going to bank right after knee replacement and getting NO help. Looks like many others feel same way. All they want is to get more marketing thrown at us to get this card/CD Wheels and Deals to get discounts, etc. etc. etc. Oh, and don't forget HAVE to get the app on your phone.

I was proactive and tried to stop them through BOA`s customer service representative. No help, the funds were gone. I tried to get a refund through insurance but they were unhelpful and kept denying me. There was no way I could explain and provide proof of my claim, I kept getting sent to their Fraud Dept. which I could not personally contact, there was no further recourse. Just an isolated guy in front of a computer that kept pushing the claim denied button. This should be illegal, but hey it`s not their $6500. BOA is fraudulent. They need to have more legal recourse.

I reported this card to the Fraud Department on August 15, 2022. This card was opened and APPROVED under my name by Bank of America... I did not apply for this card, but Bank America allowed someone else to. After a 6 hour run-around with 7 different people I was able to get this fraudulent account closed but was not able to obtain a hard-copy of the online application! I was passed around all day and finally gave up.

I requested an investigation immediately, as to WHO and HOW and WHY they gave a credit card to someone with a $7600 credit limit to a scammer.!!! And I requested this be reported to the (3) Credit bureaus. I sent multiple emails and still no response from anyone. Bank of America has restricted access to my account for a reason they cannot disclose clearly to me. The customer service is near non-existent and when you do get someone on the phone they do not know anything and cannot give you clear answers to any of your questions or they'll simply hang up on you.

I woke up Friday morning to see that my account was in the process of closing, with no warning to me, nothing! I have over 3,000 in my checking account and 7,000+ in my savings. I have a disputed transaction in progress and because of that, they cannot fully close my account, yet I do not have access to any of my money! I asked how long the dispute process takes and was told 45 to 90 days!! So basically I will not get a check to my money until the dispute is finished and then they'll issue a check for the balance when the account has been fully closed. I pay for school out of pocket and I start in exactly 2 weeks and here I am with no funds available to me all because I made the tragic mistake of ever opening an account with this sorry excuse of a bank. I would not recommend Bank of America to my worst enemy and I hope nothing but the worst for the future of this bank.

This was the email that I sent to their leadership. Nothing will make me keep my account open, I am just waiting for my check to clear. I have been a loyal customer for 22 years. As I am sure you know, it has been hard times lately, and I too fell on hard times. I am getting my life back on track, and part of that was the **** loan I took out from **** to make sure I had money to cover bills and pay off my credit cards so I did not fall into arrears. They would only send me a check, so that is what I had to settle on. I have put checks the same size as this into my account on different occasions and have never had a problem. However, your risk department decided I was a risk and put a hold on my check.

The first person I spoke with said I could call on Monday (it was a Friday) to request the hold to either be shortened or for them to release a certain amount (which most other banks will do). She said she had spoken to the hold department and that would be whom I would need to speak with. So I thanked her and decided to call back.

The first person I spoke to on Monday said there was no such thing as a hold department, and that she will put in a complaint about the first person and then said there was nothing she could do. I asked to be passed to a supervisor, which I was, who said there was a department that handled this, it was the risk department. I sat on hold for a minimum of an hour, and when she came back on she said that they would be able to release the money on the 3rd. So I was lied to twice already by two of your employees, and this 3rd one seemed to help.

Well it is Wednesday, and the money has not been released, and I have had all of my bills that I paid returned and my fees at this point are more than the loan that was going to help me get my life back in order. I called and was put on and taken off hold several times, and it came to the conclusion that no one could do anything and I was out of luck. And so it continues.

At this point, I will never see my way out of this hole, and I realized that your employees constantly lied because they either didn't know the answers or chose not to help. Maybe if had not been lied to about the 3rd, I could have figured something, anything, out. But here we are. Me with a negative balance, and you with what is about to be several negative reviews and me making sure that I let everyone know what to expect. I was told by several people in my life (my boss, my mom, friends, coworkers) who had used your bank before and had many issues to leave Bank of America, that I would eventually get a negative experience that would leave me in a bad situation. I mistakenly stayed.

I have since found several banks who have put in writing their own hold policies, and many, if not all the others, have provisions for this type of situation. I was told my account was not one that could benefit from such a provision. 22 years is not long enough, I guess because of my income level. It is a shame that you have to have money to be treated in another way. How disappointing. And frankly, life-changing for me, not in a good way. I will make sure others do not make the same mistake I did.

I was told she would email me something to fill out but I never received it, nor did it go to my spam mail. This checking account was filled out online and I received 3 emails from BOA in the early morning at 1:36 am. First said they were processing my information, (I thought it was a scam so I didn't do anything- of course I couldn't the bank was closed). Second was to confirm my email address (I never confirmed or clicked on the link). Third was a congratulations my account was approved.

I called the next day to find out the online application came from Indiana (I'm in Ohio) and the person had my social security number, name, address, email address, but did not have my phone number. How could BOA open an account in my name when I had a freeze on the Chexsystems? I have proof it is frozen. I tried numerous times to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau without success. I called and was disconnected, I tried filling the form online and the site says they cannot take the report. I'm not happy with BOA. I've never done business with them, nor will I ever. Now it is taking me hours calling and filling out forms to try and document this. It has taken so much of my time up. Something needs to be done and I want proof this is closed. They make it as difficult as possible to reach a human rep should the need arise, setting up online and phone systems designed to thwart rather than assist those they claim as clients.

However ironic considering the nature of banks, "they're in it for the money" governs how they'll treat you. AT ALL COSTS, DON'T OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM. Whatever the seeming benefits will be far outweighed by the zombified treatment you'll get if, God forbid, you should find yourself in circumstances that require genuine regard and human assistance.

Not only did we respond but also followed up with a phone call alerting the fraud dept of what was happening. After two months we thought this nightmare was behind us then the Letter came from BOA letting us know that they had declined the dispute. At this point we went to the bank in person to speak regarding this issue and while there we spoke with Representative of BOA along with a speaker from the fraud dept. We answered all the questions and were told the case would be reopened. I have been a client of the bank for 3 years, but I decide to close the account. The fact is that the whole of America, namely the banking system, is arranged in a certain way. People first get a debit card, the second step is the first credit card... If you use it well, pay on time, you can get a second one, and so on. This is how a person's credit history begins. I had a credit history until I was able to respond to a message from the bank. I didn't answer because I don't speak English well. Although at that point I applied online for a third travel credit card. Not only did they not approve me, they also blocked two valid cards. I have never had a negative balance in my account, every month I closed my credit cards on time and correctly. How much I spent, so much and returned to the penny.

Credit score for 3 years - 756. Three times I tried to figure out why this happened, no one knows or understands anything. There was a system failure and my credit cards were blocked, although it was not my fault, but the fault of a system failure when the system itself blocked the account thinking that a scammer is trying to get hold of the bank's money, but not because I misused and had violations. Bank employees can't do anything and don't understand how to fix it. Therefore, I see no reason to keep my money on a debit card, as it turns out that the bank uses my money, and I receive nothing in return and cannot improve my credit history. It is better for me to take this money to another bank, where they will gladly open a credit line for me. I am extremely disappointed!!!

What I later learned was that someone had created a second username and password and linked it to my account, WHICH IS NOT THE SAME AS SOMEONE RESETTING MY PASSWORD! Nothing has happened with the fraud claim other than for the credit card division to deny the $7200 claim since the transfer had gone into my checking account. Therefore, that $7200 is back on my card and is accruing interest! When I tried to speak to a fraud inspector about this, I was told I could not, after which Xavier from TX hung up on me. Aside from not being competent enough to resolve an 8-mo issue with my small business credit card autopay, Bank of America has a number of failures of ethics, like intentionally, systematically defrauding the American public via late fees, homeowner mortgage sabotage during the 2008 recession, impersonating small businesses for the purpose of stealing 2020 small business COVID relief loans, and spying on Americans. There is no bottom for this bank too low to stoop to. Most of what they do has a cost analysis built in that tells them ethics is just another cost they can't afford in their brave new business model. They will be replaced by any number of banking alternatives emerging today within 5 years or less at this crash and burn rate.

If every bank treated their customers as Bank of America does, most of them would have gone under by now. This kind of hubris will not endure very long in the wake of Blockchain authentication and the sweeping banking reforms likely to follow. Meme-riding PR schemes in place of genuine customer service and ethics will take its toll soon on the least satisfactory bank IN America according to most sources of legitimate reviews.

This bank has very poor service and I am both a business and consumer customer. I also have a business card with them and was told I had reached the spending quota for a $200 credit to my card only to find out when I called to check on it I was given wrong information and that became my fault that the agent gave me wrong info.

I have used BOA for over 40 years. Currently, as many know, there are multiple Fraudulent websites and markers prowling on the internet. If per chance, you click one by mistake, as it Pops Up, while reading or viewing an article and since computers are so automated (they don't seem to have a chip shortage), a popup displays their product and there are hidden links behind the site and not cookies that put you directly into checkout and the computer fills in your credit card number - when you try to cancel it, you get frozen or a foreign country and all you can do is go to your BOA credit card account and instead of having a choice - of report charge or cancel charge, the only choice is "report it as Fraud."

As soon as you do that BOA, with no warning flag, prior to you stating you believe it to be fraud, that they will immediately shutdown that credit card for any future purchases, assign a new card and say 10 days to get another card. You have to call and wait over 20 minutes to get thru to say, please send me the card IMMEDIATELY. In addition, there is no place on the website, (because no statements have been generated), to find out the full number of the card, and details like exp date and security code, so that you can use the new card until the card physically comes in. And if you explain this to a rep or associate, last one I talked to in order to expedite shipping like American Express, hung up on me. This is the worst customer service approach ever. With the New Preferred Rewards cards, that I pay an annual fee for the card, they should overnight the card instead of hanging up the phone.

However, the woman at the office explained to me that there is a specific account for non-Americans that allows me to have a kind of credit account. She explained that if I give them $300, they will open an account and put that money in it then I can use it as credit. I decided to go for it since I needed to put money first to use it. A year later, and after paying for the account and not even really using it, they are asking me to pay the $364 for overdue payments (the $64 is because of overdue payment) like WTF?

I was explained that I would use the $300 that I gave cash to the woman in the office. Nobody told me that it was actually a real credit account like for all Americans!! After many calls and hours on the phone, they threatened me saying either I pay the $364 or my account will keep being billed overdue payments.

But she did not send me a confirmation email.

She gave me a claim number though calling back the BANK OF AMERICA didn't seem to recognize it. And calling again the computer voice wanted me to give my account number. Of course, I don't have an account, so I gave them the fraud account number. That got me right through to another hold. This would be one of my worse experiences ever in customer service with Bank of America (BOK), unlike other banks. The day before yesterday, I received 2 emails, which showed someone opened a new bank account using my name. I contacted the SSN and credit company. Looks like someone, from Elpaso Tx, has a credit check request for a BOK account. I contacted BOK today (03/18/22) regarding this issue and to delete the account. I was transferred to 5 to 6 different states to get the (check Fraud Account) dept. The whole event was repeated at least 3 times without any significant progress. Out of which 2 times I waited for 37 minutes and the second one for almost 57 minutes.

My whole day starting from morning 11:00 AM to evening 4:00 pm went on this event. Still, no one picked up my call. Eventually, a customer service personnel took my call and started moving to the next phase, and again call waiting. Everyone I talked to kept saying they did not have the capacity to delete my account. I can't understand, the whole network is such as broken system, no one even knows how to channel and help a customer whose personal information is used to create a national bank account. And how can be BOK activate an account without even properly checking the legibility of an individual? A couple of BOK attendants who took my phone call agreed that they do see a new account made with the below information. Just imagine how would anyone feel if they have been transferred like this to different states, from one department to another and no one is able to assist or take proper responsibility at BOK for their mistakes.

This event has caused my personal information harm and caused a big wastage of my valuable time dealing with the mistakes of BOK. I told them I will be sending this information to the federal system and consumer complaint department and other places where ever possible, and bring others' attention to this matter, including News or Social media if possible. So far BOK has not responded properly. They have been transferring me from one department to another in different states. There is not even a proper email to contact them back, only phone calls. I am not even sure how to solve this issue. Probably have to call them again tomorrow. Very bad.

Re: Bank of America Dispute Claim ID: **. I'm 65 years old. I am also a full-time hospital worker. I can't retire, as I live paycheck-to-paycheck. My Social Security isn't nearly enough to live on. Bank of America has been receiving my direct deposit from the hospital where I work (Eisenhower Medical) twice a month for almost two years now. The local Bank of America branch is the only branch in town, with the inside recently closed (sign on door says "temporarily closed"). The one drive-thru ATM and two exterior ATMs are still open.

My direct deposit hit the bank overnight on 2/16/22. I was elated, as I was facing shut-offs. I went to the ATM and withdrew cash from the Bank of America ATM, to be able to pay my rent (which was already late, and needed to be paid in cash). On the morning of 2/17/22 I drove back to the ATM, to put some of the cash back, $1100, so that I could pay a few more urgent bills online, including my utilities. I needed to pay my SoCal Edison bill asap, as it is part of a "pandemic payment arrangement," which offers forgiveness of the past due amount. Otherwise, I will owe almost $2000 in the accrued past due amount, and I'll be scheduled for shut-off.

I needed to pay my AARP UnitedHealthCare Medicare Part G bill online, already two months behind, scheduled for cancellation. THEN...the Bank of America ATM ate my $1100, all in $100 bills! The screen displayed a message saying "there was an error..." and then the most bizarre question, "approximately how much did you deposit?" I manually entered the amount I deposited, "$1100."

Next, the ATM dispensed a receipt to me showing I was credited $300??? The receipt states "We apologize for the inconvenience. We created an issue record that will be attached to your transaction." WTF??? What is going on? Where is my money? I work too hard for this. I have been working long hard hours at the hospital, without complaint. But, I am convinced that the people at Bank of America really couldn't care less, as if I'm annoying them.

During my first call to B of A checking on the status of this claim, the customer service rep "giggled" when I said "I can't afford to wait days or weeks to get this resolved." I was told "you should see a credit in two days..." Two days. Great. :( Then, three days later, nothing. I then called again, and was told "whoever told you two days gave you incorrect information, you need to wait at least 10 business days...could take 45 days." WTF!!!

I CAN'T AFFORD THIS! I need my money, the $800 ($1100 cash deposit, credited for $300, $800 difference) that I worked hard for. What a true disaster for me. If B of A cared at all, they would have credited my account by now, and then continued on with their investigation. But, even with their billions of dollars...no...me, the "little guy" has to wait,...wait...wait, and go without my money, the few dollars I NEED TO LIVE ON.

Today, I can't shop for food. Today I can't buy gas for my truck. I am so distraught I don't know what else to do. I have really changed my mind, and my feelings about Bank of America. Clearly, I don't matter to B of A. I will make sure to warn everyone I meet: Bank of America doesn't care about you as a person...at all. Sure, they're real sweet as long as you give them access to your money, and have no issues. But, if you have a problem, YOU WILL REGRET doing business with Bank of America.

October 26th, cancelled the card, and filed a claim of fraud. It is now 9 days later, and the $1200 has yet to be refunded.. In a LITANY of phone calls to the bank, requiring waits of over 30 minutes at times, my fraud claim was started, and then followed up, only to be told I had to 'wait' for the processing to finish.., that is, for the charges to post. WHY pay charges only to later refute them? OK That's a bank's decision. But they did.

THEN even though the charges were patently false, and 9 days has passed, no credits have been applied. Today I visited my branch, even the branch manager couldn't understand why these charges were honored by the bank. But he couldn't help me with the claim. He gave me a number to call.. (which just put me in the same long duration waiting process). When an agent came on, she said she saw 'NO CLAIM' filed!. I asked to speak to a manager, she said - I'll put you through. She didn't. She dumped me back into the phone line.. which after a few minutes of waiting a recording said, 'Bank of Am is closed.. Please try your call later'. No manager. Where do I begin.... About 4 and a half months ago I saw what I believed to be a fraudulent charge of 6 DOLLARS on my account so I called them up to inquire. The lady I spoke with said she would take care of it and asked me if I wanted her to cancel my debit card and she would send me out a new one. I said no, that's ok...It's really not that big of a deal. She said that it would probably make things a lot easier if she just cancelled the card and issued a new one. And you know, hindsight is always 20/20 but oh how I wish I would have just said yes, send me a new card because what happened after that was a steadily approaching train wreck.

A couple of weeks later when I tried to access my account online I was informed that I would need to call them....(which seemed to happen a lot...I would almost always have to call and provide them with my driver's license number and answer a couple of security questions before I had access online even though I used the same exact device every time)....But this time when I called, the representative quickly escalated my call over to the fraud department where I sat on hold for another 15 minutes until someone finally came on the line only to inform me that my account was frozen and that the only way it could be unfrozen would be for me to provide them with the phone number associated with my account. Yet I knew I had never given BofA my telephone number (not in all the 20 years I have banked with them....It was never required and frankly I don't want them to have it)...

I explained this to the rep but she insisted that "the ONLY WAY that I can access your account so that YOU can access your account is with your phone number". I thought to myself "well that's odd, my account must have a phone number associated with it, why else would they be so adamant that it's the ONLY way". She assured me there was absolutely nothing more she could do to help me even though she had been not helpful at all and even though my drivers license number and security password were still linked to my account but nope, just my phone number....It's the only way. She told me I must go into my local branch and talk to a financial advisor, who would be able to unfreeze my account after seeing my i.d.

So a few days later I drove the half hour to the nearest branch only to be told that I could not just walk in and talk to someone.... How silly of me....I needed to schedule an appointment and the next available time was a few days away... Saturday, 11a.m. (they close at noon on Saturday but I had no worries....I'd be in and out in no time)....So I show up for my appointment and they are running behind but I finally sit down with Brenda, who is sympathetic. She assures me that she will take care of this matter and she pulls up my account and confirms what I already believed, that there is no phone number associated with my account....

She then tries to unfreeze it by typing in a whole slew of information but no such luck, it just won't cooperate, so she calls what I assume to be a special backline phone number because surely the higher ups would provide a financial advisor with a phone number other than the published one on the back of every single person's debit card....But she tells me that sadly, no, she has no inside line...and so we wait on hold for about 20 minutes to then be transferred over to the fraud department where we wait on hold for over 30 minutes and no one ever does come on the line (it is past closing time at this point).

Brenda tells me she is sorry but there is nothing more she can do to help me today and to please stop back in Monday morning....and since I lived a half hour from the bank and couldn't just pop in and plus was so mentally drained by the absurdity of it all and that the mere thought of dealing with it again on Monday made me feel so panicky, I put it off as long as I possibly could. But today I had no choice, I had to face the wrath of BofA again because unless I transfer money from my savings to checking before Monday, I am going to have a major issue when an automatic payment of $1,800 posts and the funds are insufficient.

So first I go online where it informs me I must call them (no surprises there) and so I call. Due to all my previous trauma with BofA reps and their "sorry but that's just the way it is" and their complete lack of any empathy whatsoever even though I am a "valued gold client" (which means absolutely nothing), I so dread making the call but console myself with the fact that there will be lots of notes to explain my dilemna and the rep who finally comes on the line says yes, there are a lot of notes, but unfortunately she cannot read any of them because the account is frozen and she must transfer me to fraud...

And just like that, deja vu, the circle starts going round and round again and I'm transferred over to fraud and the rep finally comes on the line and asks for my phone number and I explain that there is no phone number, however if they could just read all the notes that the the financial advisor typed into my account after verifying my 2 forms of government identification that prove that I am me I really am, then it will all make sense, I swear.... then she would understand....But sorry, she says, and informs me that the fraud department is unable to see any notes because my account is frozen and cannot be accessed by them or anyone else until I provide them with the phone number in my account and again so sorry but there's nothing absolutely nothing else that can be done other than make an appointment with a financial advisor.

I beg her to please please at least help me make the appointment because it won't allow me to online because it even prohibits me from making an appointment. To my astonishment, she says she can do that.... She can actually help me in some tiny small way. She asks me what my new zip code is where I now reside and then confirms what I already knew....that the closest BofA branch is now 2 HOURS away... And so that's where I'm headed Monday morning... taking the day off to drive 2 hours to the bank so that I can sit down with another financial advisor to make a simple transfer of funds from savings to checking.

Then before she hangs up, she says "Now make sure you tell the advisor to add your driver's license number to your account as well as security questions and a password..." and I begin to tell her that those pieces of information have always been in my account but what difference does it make because my account cannot be accessed with anything other than the phone number that was never there....But I can tell she's hardly listening....Probably mentally preparing for the next person whose day she will help ruin.

What kind of company doesn't let their own fraud department read the notes of their OWN colleagues within their OWN department or see the extensive notes written by a financial advisor to whom I presented 2 forms of government i.d.... And what kind of company doesn't provide their own financial officers with a phone number that could help so much to expedite things and make the lives of so many so less stressful... A company that SUCKS **. Bank of America, that's who.

One day it’s 500$. The next I can be overdraft-300… So something that was shown as a transaction a few days ago in your account don’t actually come out of till a few days later. Now you’re in the negative tryna figure how this happened and just maybe you’re hallucinating. Bad business.

My sister died of COVID in November. Mom and I went to the bank in December because we have POD on her accounts. The bank canceled our appointment and made us go to another bank some miles away. When we got there, the person who we had made the appointment with Yolanda, was not there. Some other guy Eduardo helped us. He told us, they would send the paperwork to their Main Office, and we'd get the money in a couple of days. This was a lie. When the money didn't arrive by the following week I called estate services. I was on hold for 45 minutes. I was told it would be 2-14 business days. I waited again. The money did not arrive. I called a third time. I got another person who said the money would be there by Friday. It was not.

I have tried calling several more times, but since the call center is only open when I work, I Cannot be on hold 45 minutes to speak to someone. Further, I can't get an appointment locally since all the banks are closed. I received a letter in the mail with a form that needs to be notarized and sent to the bank. It has been nearly a month now. All the local banks are closed to in-person service. I don't get if the banks think it's too dangerous to be open because of Covid, how I am supposed to go in and get this notarized. Why can't the bank modernize and use DocuServe or something? Why did not Eduardo do this initially? I will pack my 90 year old mother in the car and go to UPS which is open while Bank of America is closed. I have since tried to call the bank, and still cannot get through to the Estate Department to find out when the money will arrive.

This is crazy. I never had this much issue when my father died and I had POD on my account. If they are closing banks to in person help, they need to have more staff on the phones. 45 minutes on the phone to speak to a rep is excessive. Also sending out forms to be notarized, during a pandemic, when they themselves aren't open for in person service, is a double-standard. I want to know why Bank of America won't release the money. It's been nearly a month now.

On Thursday, December 30, 2021, my husband deposited a check for $4700.00 into my Bank of America account at 5:00 am. The check cleared the Chase account instantly. My online Bank of America account stated funds from this deposited check would not be available for withdrawal until January 5, 2022, but would cover any items posting December 30th and beyond. No problem, I have had this happen in the past where I wasn’t able to withdraw funds but any pending or electronic items were covered. The next day, I get an email stating I was charged two $35 nonsufficient fund fees and my house payment was returned, along with a $500 credit card payment! Mysteriously, the message about items being covered starting December 30 had disappeared (I have photos/screenshots of everything, including proof the funds cleared Chase Bank almost instantly).

I called to speak to a representative, who was unable to help me, so I asked for a manager, and was told there was nothing they could do, that they were holding my $4700.00 until January 5th, and I couldn’t touch those funds until that day. I don’t need those funds, but my house payment was returned for no reason when they have my money. I have perfect credit and now I have to call US Bank and my credit card company to try to smooth this out and make sure they don’t also charge me fees for something I didn’t do wrong, or put negative marks on my credit report. When I asked the “manager” where my money was, since it cleared my Chase bank instantly, I couldn’t get an answer and was just told it hadn’t cleared Bank of America yet. I was in the financial industry for 10 years, so I know how EFT, ACH, all of that works.

We can send money instantly nowadays via Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, but money from Chase to Bank of America just magically disappears for a week and can’t be confirmed? My husband and I just opened our Chase accounts not very long ago so they are not set up to send or receive electronic funds yet, otherwise I would’ve just done that. So in summary, Bank of America charged me fees while in possession of MY money, returned two of my bills, including my house payment, and basically told me there’s nothing they can do.. I have been with Bank of America for almost 30 years and I have never had this happen before. The whole reason I am switching to Chase Bank is because the Bank of America branch in this area is always closed and always out of money; well this is just the candle on the cake. I am filing a complaint with the OCC immediately. Heed my warning and stay away from this bank. There is some shady stuff going on!

The morning that my check was supposed to clear around 9:00 a.m. my account was put in the closure at 6:00 a.m. due to not being able to verify my identity.

I could not go to the bank with any form of ID to verify my identity because they would not allow me to since the account was already put into closure. They told me that I would have to wait until the check cleared and 10 to 15 days later they would send me a cashier check to the address on file. Therefore the check that I just got and tried so hard to deposit and needed for living expenses I am no longer able to have access to for another 2 weeks at least. They waited until the last minute to close my account and then held my check without releasing it to me or the funds. I went to the physical Bank to try to cash the physical check and they said it was "Redboxed" because it was still pending in the account that they had in "closure".

She put it in the notes. We immediately requested a check from our bank to be sent to Bank of America. It was sent within two days. Unfortunately, Bank of America did not receive it until 3 weeks later. As a result they charged us a $75 late fee. They were unwilling to refund the fee even though we were able to show them when our bank sent the check. In addition our first home loan was with Bank of America. They took our house in error. They sent us a letter after the fact that they would pay us $600 for a $300,000 house. This is the worst bank that we have ever had to work with.

Hi. This is quite a long story about my experiences with your banks. I received a check from my boss, written from your bank. I went into a location to cash it and they said they couldn't verify it. So I went to a second location with the same check and they gave me zero problems cashing it. I get my second check, written from your bank so I go in to cash it and they can't, because a number was faded (totally understandable) so I have it rewritten… I go back the next day to the same location, apparently the check is now too large for them to cash because I do not have an account…

So I go home, go online, I open an account. I can't log in so I call right away. They said I need to go into a location and give them verification of my identity and have them call. So I go into the location, I explain this to the teller. She takes my ID and says “I see your account right here there is no issue” so I say okay great the person on the phone said you needed to call and confirm my identity.

So I hand her my check… She refuses to cash it unless I do a deposit. So I deposit some money, well today I get a letter in the mail stating you've closed my account. So I call to find out that my accounts been closed and ill receive my check in 10-15 business days. So throughout ALL OF THIS I can't even receive my money that I left in the bank because your teller was adamant that I had to make a deposit & now I can't afford to pick up my inhalers or finish my holiday shopping because I left that money in a bank where it should have been safe.

I'm extremely upset with every interaction with this bank. I should have never been able to deposit money into an account that was being closed, I should never have had to deal with all of this. The only reason I ever even used this bank was because the checks are written from this bank and this should have been the easiest route. Turns out you all are the absolute most difficult people to deal with and I highly suggest redefining your regulations and your employees' training. If I can take this check to a grocery store and have it cashed without a problem there's no reason your bank whose name is on the check cannot do the same.

We were given PPP loan and BOA has denied full forgiveness claiming that as an S-Corp we are not eligible for health insurance expense paid by our company. The SBA rules clearly state that health insurance is a forgivable expense and various CPAs who reviewed our paperwork have confirmed that we are eligible. Bank of America refuses to read the particular, applicable paragraph to the end of the sentence and has blocked us from applying for full forgiveness. It is beyond frustrating that BoA is getting away with playing by its own rules instead of being aligned with SBA guidelines.

I am happy to provide more information if anyone wants to pick this up and help us create a solutions. It's not just about our company. There are thousands of small businesses that received their PPP loans through Bank of America who are in a similar situation. The SBA established a portal for direct forgiveness. Bank of America is not participating in that portal and hence small businesses like ours have no way to appeal the Bank's decision with the SBA. Congress needs to get involved to resolve this by holding BoA accountable to honor the rules established by SBA. Furthermore, a lot of PPP loans (I have been told by other affected business owners) look like they were forgiven - according to the SBA - while the business owners are getting collection letters from the Bank of America. I can't explain that.

Con: I responded to the Fraud Text Alert immediately but my Text Response apparently was not received. I got 2nd text, I responded, and I noticed that an arrow next to the texted response was spinning rather than time stamping. Then I went online to provide feedback.... BoA DOES NOT PROVIDE EASY ROUTES TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK. I was able to authorize suspicious charges using computer; however, there was no easy way to provide feedback about potential problem with their Fraud Text alert response process. The only alternative I could find was to wait to talk to a Representative. This experience is consistent other BoA actions which reflect cost savings through minimizing customer contact.

My dad was one of first Covid-19 victims, died February 27th 2020. He had $12,000 left on loan for his house. I've spent almost 2 years & over $10,000 on lawyer fighting Bank of America. They refuse to let me, his son, I have same name as my dad, they refuse to let me make a payment, 2 years they got crazy overpriced lawyers that keep throwing wrenches into system. It's almost 2 years later and don't know what else to do. My dad owed $12,000 on a house valued at $158,000. When he died everything was shut down and closed, normal places you could walk into were all closed, phone calls were a joke, all bank of America people hung up because I wasn't my dad. $10,000 I've spent on a lawyer and getting nowhere.

Bank of America for 2 years has refused to allow me to make a payment and they are effectively strong arming me into not getting even a chance to pick up where my dad left off when he died. Bank of America wants a $158,000 house for the $12,000 that's left on loan. They refuse for 2 years to let me make a payment, and are suing to have to have title to house. These people already spent their bailout money on executive bonuses and vacations 10years ago, I'm witness that they have now reverted to stealing and strong-arming to make their books even. My only hope that someone who has the power to do something about this will. I've spent more money on a lawyer than what was due left on the loan but they refuse to let me pay the balance.

I enrolled for automatic redemption at the end of each month of my credit card rewards balance. I saw on my Bank of America statement that my rewards balance of $348.12 had been "redeemed". However, the credit for the funds did not appear anywhere on either my checking account statement or my credit card statement. I called Bank of America and spent 30 minutes on hold, waiting for a customer service representative to take my call. The customer service representative, when he finally answered the phone, could not tell me what happened to the $348.12 rewards credit. He could not find where the money had gone, even though it was designated as "Redeemed" and had disappeared from my rewards balance due to me. I requested that he escalate the level of customer service and permit me to speak with a supervisor.

I was again on hold, waiting for a supervisor, for over 30 minutes. Don't do business with bank of america. They are crooks who will rip you off and then avoid you when you attempt to contact them to explain where your money went. If my money doesn't show up on my banking statement(s) soon, I will be contacting my state's attorney general to obtain relief. Btw, I never was connected with a supervisor.

My experience as of late has been less than “ok.” That said, I do strive to maintain that “glass half full” mindset. The wait times have been unacceptable, and the other avenues to contact a person (email, chat) are not found any longer?! I am sitting here listening to the recording while on hold, and again “she” tells me to ”ASK ERICA” one more time… oh vey. I know that this bank is making a lot of money from me alone, so I don/t find rationale for the wait times, nor the lack of appreciation for having paid my vehicle loan off in full, years early. Maybe I am ridiculous to expect anything of the like? Not even a “Thanks, great job” in the generic letter received. I was informed that I've been a customer for “21 years now, and we appreciate that”. However, loyalty makes no true difference, and I am less and less pleased with the costs associated with banking with them. I would NOT recommend their services!

As a former supermarket Executive Operations Supervisor I am appalled with the lack of Customer Service BOA offers. Not to mention the temporary closing of branches, closing earlier all causing added inconvenience driving or searching the internet for other locations. Try Googling BOA locations? Even their website is not consumer friendly in identifying open locations or current hours.

Personal experience within branches, I would walk in and witness 7-9 people in line, with ONE teller, however, I would be greeted by another employee upon entering inquiring my intentions. I have to stress this situation is NOT a unique occurrence in any particular branch, I believe it's simply tolerated and accepted trend.

I respect the desire in controlling labor, however like the supermarkets when additional assistance was required, we had other employees support the customers regardless of title or other responsibilities. We studied customer counts by hour, and scheduled service accordingly. No lunches during peak periods, monitored cameras to inspect follow-up. We also sent "ghost employees" to apply transactions and report service, employee response etc. Based on what I have witnessed I am considering closing my accounts, I just feel BOA has increased market share to the point, CS is irrelevant.

My husband's bank account was just closed because of what they call suspicious activity. The issue is that he has two loans he is paying off through his account and there was an issue with someone hacking into his account from a different state. The bank made the decision to close his account the day before he got paid on a holiday weekend. We have a child here and things that we need and the decision that the bank made was ridiculous. They waited until someone hacked into his account from Virginia to tell him they were closing it instead of questioning the other issues they felt they had about the two loan companies.

My thing is if you are going to close his account and "investigate," why not give him the cash out of his check while you are doing that. We have a child here that has needs and we can't wait for you to decide on when you are going to close the account. This is a real inconvenience for our household and I think there should be better practices put in place for things like this especially when someone is waiting to get paid from their job.

I have reluctantly been associated with this bank for over 35 years. And as with all big banking corporations pretty useless to say the least in all departments. No doubt many would put a case forward for supporting these oversized established figures, but for the small account holder it is not really the service one would expect. Hopefully the one star reviews will continue and more and more people will exodus.

It is inconceivable how most companies today are allowed to treat the customer as a unit and not a living being so to speak. They make it very simple to put money in, but getting it out especially when the is an issue? Overcharging is a national pastime for the little service one receives in return. Personally as you no doubt detect One detests large banks, and they are all pretty much the same. Unfortunately when a digital bank starts up and is successful it sells out. Will we ever win? Only when all companies are not allowed to become a dinosaur and end up costing the tax payer millions.

I was on the phone with this bank many times waiting, and it received no live emails. They should be paying me for having money in the account and the aggravation. My advice go small, personal and if possible online. Even if it means opening in another state. One wonderful point about days gone by was at least there was a personal manager whom knew their job. Now just number's whom can not make a decision. The list of complaints is too many to put here.

The representative I got was not fluent in English and neither of us understood each other that well, so she got me a supervisor who helped me out. The issue I have is this: consumers can't do electronic wire transfers, only businesses can. There's not even a form you can use from the mobile app to print, fill out, and scan to put through the app for review. I get it: you need a paper record of everything, but why can't I just get you the paper form in-person at another time. I guess I have to do that tomorrow at my branch since I can't do it today over the phone or digitally. I get the reasoning, but also, there are ways you can make this more consumer friendly. I just really wish there was a slightly upgraded way of doing this as it is massively inconvenient.

The hold times are also brutal. I was on hold for 40 minutes. That is inexcusable for a bank this big. I'd recommend upgrading customer service in some fashion, just so consumers can reach a representative sooner. I shouldn't have to be on hold for 40 minutes to be told "go to a branch." Also, I recommend upgrading the wire transfer issue for consumers. At least let us print and scan the forms into the app for approval. We can do that with checks, so why not with wire transfers?

I had a credit score near 800 at the time and they always reverse their stance when I pulled out my phone and record me explaining the situation then asking the manager to confirm that they refused to accept payment on my credit card.

This is technically true only because the money is equally insured, however online banking increases fraud and identity theft chances and banks are major targets for this. BoA has not gone 5 years without a data breach for instance. Bank of America simply wants fewer people to do banking in person because it is more expensive but they will not pass the saving onto customers because stockholders require noticeable year-over-year growth.

2.5) BoA will frequently limit their tellers whenever they are pushing people toward online banking. I kid you not 1 or 2 hour-long lines are not uncommon even when that BoA is not hiring and they have 3-5 unused windows.

    3) BoA will refuse to deal with fraud claims. I have requested information related to a fraud claim 5 times. I still have zero information. I put the fraud claim in and according to BoA the retailer simply stated that I had purchased from them before and that is all it takes for BoA to side with the organization committing fraud. 2 times the fraud department transferred my call away to a different department that disconnected me. Another time their security system broke so they could not help me and required me to call back for another 20 minute wait period. The BoA associates keep telling me that they are filing complaints on my behalf but the only time I have ever seen any sign of this was the one-time BoA actually resolved the issue.

    4) BoA said they sent me the finances from my father's account when he passed. It took 3 months after that to receive the money. This generated interest on my BoA credit cards because it costs money to handle his estate.

    5) Regarding stimulus payment it took BoA months to process my stimulus check after it was deposited by the IRS. BoA said ~"any issues with stimulus checks are the fault of the IRS" except BoA didn't give me the full amount. When I called BoA on the incorrect amount they said it could only be the fault of the IRS because they don't mask mistakes like that. I was told they would file a complaint on my account, no follow-up. But when I got my second check (that was supposed to be $600), BoA deposited the $600 + the missing amount from the first payment. The IRS claimed they only deposited the $600 so it looks like BoA withheld stimulus money.

    6) I have just been given inaccurate information about how their accounts work, multiple times. So has my mother who is elderly, they lied and said a certain type of loan was 0% for a year but then they charged her interest and when she called she was told that wasn't how the account works.

If you wonder why BoA withholds money it is because it makes their finances look better, kind of like a pyramid scheme where they are propping up the money that they have by withholding money from customers for a period of time. They will eventually give you your money which is why they aren't committing fraud but given the dishonesty and financial impact of banking with BoA it's been thousands of dollars. Bank of America is built on lies, limited duration theft, and protecting fraudulent claims/companies over clients.

I made an ATM deposit at an BOA ATM in Saugus, MA and the machine took $2,520 of my cash deposit. I called the bank immediately and they issued me a temporary credit. Today I received a notice saying they will take that credit back because there was no extra money at the ATM machine that day. There were two machines together, this as at one of their branches. Other people ahead of me had issues with the machine also. I myself had to switch machines a couple of times because they kept returning the bills. Of the $$2,820 total the machine gave me a credit of $300 but kept the remaining $2,520. This is a lot of money. How could they have no extra money hat day at that machine. They are lying!

I called them and they reopened the claim and said they will look at the video from the cameras. I do not trust this now. What is the video going to do if I do not get to see it and they keep claiming there was no excess money? This same machine took $700 from me last year and they wanted me to wait10 days for my funds. This is just wrong!!

Wife & I have been loyal customers since 1980 and rarely disputed charges. Our experience with BofA customer service has always been great. They were courteous and helpful. Last year I did not recognize various charges, for example “USD Direct Pay Nairobi” $198.68, obviously fraudulent as I had never been anywhere outside N. America save Europe once for a wedding and certainly never to Kenya or Africa. Inexplicably BofA approved this charge, then refused to credit my account for its negligence. Same with a $2,000 charge to a “Modern Island Tech Group.”

To be sure, some of the charges I did not recognize turned out to have been mine (For example I forgot to cancel a free trial offer for Amazon Prime because I forgot I signed up for it and never used it), and I called BofA to correct the record when I realized the monthly Amazon charges were not fraudulent. Point is the Nairobi currency and “tech” charges were clearly contrary to my spending pattern, not mine and should never have been approved. Yet BofA refused to honor its explicit “$0 liability guarantee” for fraudulent charges. I have cancelled my BofA credit card and advise everyone not to expect fraudulent charge protection from this disreputable bank just because they claim so.

Background is necessary. I'm in the process of divorce. We file taxes jointly so my Economic impact payment goes to spouse's account. I have multiple underlying conditions for Covid as well. On 3-24-21 my spouse wrote my check for Covid money. The bank wouldn't accept my mobile deposit forcing me to go stand in line to wait for ATM, no branches around me are open and my branch isn't returning calls. The deposit goes through the ATM flawlessly and the check image is captured on my receipt. I notice later that the check is now marked "return".

I call to find out why and the man tells me the ATM didn't capture the check's image, it was being returned to me in about 10 days. He then files a complaint but his complaint starts a nightmare and terror show exposing heartless, cold people. He files incorrectly as fraud. I call back in later that day to ask a question and this is when it starts. I ask how I'm responsible for ATM error and why I have to wait so long? She tells me that, "People under investigation for fraud can't just call and say I didn't do anything and we give them money, the investigation needs to run its course." I get very upset at the accusation and ask for supervisor. The person who came on line was the most abusive representative I've dealt with in my entire life.

My bank is LITERALLY treating me like a criminal and talking down to me while ignoring my pleas concerning my meds for breathing due to COPD, rent and food. I inform this is my Covid money. She doesn't care. She's mean and power trippin. I have to call back to file a complaint VS her and find out what's going on? The 24th ends with a rep telling me that I'm not being investigated for fraud but the issuee didn't sign the check and that's why it was returned. I have phone records showing over 3 hours on hold and talking to BOFA on the 24th to find out that it wasn't ATM error nor fraud as it was entered. The next day I take the check to ATM, soon I'm notified the check's on hold till the 30th.

It was deposited on 26th, The investigation was done on Friday, I had screenshot copies of the funds removed from issuer's account. I was also provided with the text message thread of her confirming the check. I'm back to the phone but now people seem apologetic, they're not calling me a thief and appear to be helpful., several long hold times with multiple BOFA employees working from home leads to small talk during these 30-40 minute wait for supervisor, we talked about working from home and if they like it. Mixed results but all without being asked mentioned working from home came with many more distractions. I'm a victim of in their words "distracted" people. I ask 1 BOFA about the notes being passed on regarding me and my situation, I'm told there are none, just everyone blaming the last rep.

We talk about the lady who was very mean, believe it or not I get her again! Her voice is very distinct! She tried denying but BOFA phone records should confirm.. I'm on the phone another 4 hours AFTER I inform this company that I'm enacting the EXPEDITED FUNDS AVAILABILITY ACT that I'm sick and need medication and my rent's going to be late which will bring me late fees. Under law they have to give me a minimum of $200 the next business day I'm, this gets folks moving and I'm transferred eventually to a supervisor who stated it's a BOFA check written to a BOFA client, he notated it has been confirmed and promised me that funds would be available as he made notations and they'll actually have the physical copy of check.

I thank him and able to relax for the 1st time all day. I call the next day as he advised, I'm transferred to a supervisor who wanted to berate me. She belittled me for defending myself vs her aggressive employees calling me a thief. She was incredibly mean telling me she doesn't care about whether it was Covid money! She didn't care that the investigation was complete! In fact she started reading off names of the actual HELPFUL to me employees and mentioned she was filing complaints vs them. She literally named employees she's trying to get in trouble because they tried to help a disabled client. My Covid money came on the 24th. I won't get it till after the 30th because my bank has a few bad apples.

If I could rate Bank of America 0/5 or less, I would. I've had issues disputing transactions having to do with fraud, horrible customer service, and learning that this is an untrustworthy bank. Fighting for a dispute that happened in November, I just pulled $30,000 from them over a $105 fraudulent transaction that they refused to cover and continue to blame others. It has now been 4 months that my case has been under "investigation," as I forced them to reopen it. I have had several phone calls with representatives and face-to-face meetings at branches as well. I have had smaller transactions similar, which they also refused to refund me for. Unfortunately, this is causes me to believe in the future with an even greater valued purchase, they wouldn't cover my back, nor yours.

Fortunately, I split my money between Chase and Bank of America, having similar issues through Chase, but not issues recovering the money. After reading several reviews, I am now very aware I am not the only one dealing with these issues. I expect one of the biggest banks to be more competent and abide by what they preach. By the end of my last meeting, it basically came down to this is not a bank who cares about you or you can trust. It was suggested to me that I use a credit card for all transactions, as they would take care of my needs immediately.

That gives me no faith in a place where I place trust in a company to keep my money. They so graciously, refunded $5.06 in fees, and nothing in regard to covering purchases that were never received. They will only cover charges made if someone else uses your card or if you say someone else uses their card. I suggest if you tend to use your debit card with Bank of America to not. Moving forward, I will put my money in the hands of a bank much more trustworthy.

We now have one choice within a 35 minute drive of our home and business. Each time we go to this current branch, they have a very long wait and ONLY ONE teller to handle everyone's business.

Today, we went to make some deposits which should have taken us no more than 10 minutes, but in fact it took over 40 minutes because the branch is so poorly run. Let me start by saying I have a great sense of obligation to the debts that I have incurred in my lifetime. I have and will continue to fulfill my debt obligation to Bank of America, as I have with many creditors since having financially struggled before, during and since the pandemic of 2020. Having said this I have had the pleasure to work with many companies including Chase, Citibank, Amex and the best Capital One, though all of were reasonable and more than willing to assist with a myriad of options and renegotiate agreements throughout the arduous task of credit clean-up, unlike Bank of America. They have been unwilling to budge on removal of any fees and/or interest. They have squeezed me for every penny possible while acting as though they have done me a huge favor by lowering the interest on my card since having been closed to 5.5%, that is again a closed account.

Had I simply not offered to fulfill my obligation to this debt, it would likely have been placed in collections like so many others, negotiated for a lesser amount and paid in full or at a minimum settled for less and not accruing interest at all. My conversations with them on re-negotiations have left a bad taste in my mouth for corporate banking institutions and their predatory practices. It appears to be Bank of America's policy and practice to shame their card holders into submission for having signed on the dotted line. But in the real world bad things happen to good people. They do not however care about that period! "Policy is policy", which is verbatim what I was told (after being shamed). The company should be renamed the, Bank of Greedy Corporate America.

I'll be writing my representatives in an effort to have credit card and banking laws looked into, not that they aren't aware of these predatory practices, since they have allowed them to become law, but because it is time for the little guys to stand up to this kind of criminal behavior. There's a reason loansharking is illegal! My question is why do we continue to allow our banking institutions through lobbyist and legislation in America to become nothing more than legal loan-sharks? Able to charge outrageous fees and interest for accounts whether in good, bad, delinquent, closed or written-off standing. They've legally been the ability to continue to kick struggling poor and middle class Americans while they are already down and out.

With the resulting effects of racked up and ever accumulating debt, thereby creating a vicious cycle. One which only perpetuates the oppression the poor and middle-class in America all the while devastating individuals or families with insurmountable debt accumulation. But the real kick in the teeth is that they do so with the backing and legislation of our elected leaders, certainly outrageous, but also bordering on criminal in my opinion. In the numerous conversations, with the many financial institutions I have had to work with over these last couple of years I assure you that, Bank of America is among the worst of these greedy offenders. I would highly suggest looking into CapitalOne (or any other company) before doing business with these particularly unreasonable corporate money grubbers.

I have had these cards for several years. This is a show of just how BofA thought if I died due to the virus they would not be paid. Sad that BofA only thinks in this way.

Bunch of dirty thieves hiding behind a corporate name. Thousands of people have been robbed or frauded of their money and Bank of America, the multi billion dollar company is refusing to pay it back. They are forcing people to use their chipless cards, which is easily hackable by thieves, AND IT'S BEEN GOING ON SINCE MARCH, WITH NO TYPE OF RESOLUTION. NO REFUNDS, unless you take it to a news outlet and they send your name in. Why do we have to take unnecessary extra steps to get our money back?? Dirty corporate thieves. #BoycottBankOfAmerica

Every single other company does one time courtesies but the most money hungry corporate ripoffs in America doesn't ?? Don't give me the so many ways to pay crap because other companies have the same ways to pay you do and they still understand people are human. Bank of America thinks we are just a dollar sign to them to bleed the little money we have out of us. I am paying off my card completely with my little savings I have so I can close my bank of america account and never give them another cent of my money. Completely appalling and I will make sure everyone I can tell knows it period.

These relationships were supposed to come with free checking and savings. Over the years, there have been more than I can remember, of new surprise fees. Some have been waived. Other times they have people, far away, who say they have no authority to return the fees. I have spent countless hours on the phone every time this happens. This time it has been so many new fees and outrageous interest charges that to relieve my own stress, I am forgoing every relationship with this bank. I am totally convinced they will never get better, only slicker. They.

My review of Bank of America based on my experience with it can be summed up with the following clichés, “below par and wide of the mark.” Why do I say that? Reason One, the bank does not issue clearly specified transaction receipts, so its customers won't get proof of specific transactions done with the bank, and the arbitrator won't have direct evidence if disputes arise. The Optional Details exemplifies many a receipt handed me from Bank of America that does not specify the nature of a given transaction even when the bank receives cash from me, one of its longtime customers.

Reason Two, the bank can remove your long green out of your account and into its own pocket without your permission. Sounds unbelievable? That's what the bank did in my instances. Reason Three, it looks to me though the combination of the foregoing two generates a whole range of horrible things the bank can do, including but surely not limited to reducing your checking account balance by the same amounts of hard cash you have paid to the bank for your credit card debts, as happened to me.

My scratch deposited in Bank of America at such great stake, the bank is clearly not up to scratch with the standard of any Main Street or side street credit union, federal or local, Member FDIC or not. Bank of America cannot be trusted for the security of my money any more than a piggy bank can be trusted in that respect. Given this caveat, I have stopped using Bank of America credit cards headlong to avoid further losses and before it is too late.

So I am not hesitant in giving the bank a mark of the worst kind that is, of course, outside totalitarian regimes. Oh yes, the bank should nonetheless be highly credited for knowing the knack of giving its complainant the runaround, steadfastly advertising its banking products in its “response” to my heartburn at terrible losses via the bank.

I do my business and personal checking with B of A and have had no problems. However, I opened a credit card - 'Cash Rewards' and accrued nearly $900 in cash back. I did not redeem it so that I could allow it to grow. B of A closed my credit account as I rarely use it. (I rarely use credit cards.) No letter was generated to report that my account was closed. (They confirmed this when I called.) I discovered the credit line was closed nearly five months after they closed it, when I attempted to use the card.

After reviewing my online banking, my credit line appeared to be active. Needless to say, I was confused. After speaking with several agents, I was informed that the credit line was indeed closed due to lack of using the credit line. I took no issue with this, even though it did drop my credit score few points. However, I was told that the cash rewards of almost $900 were unable to be redeemed to me as I only had a 90 day window to redeem them after the account was closed. To reiterate, I was unaware the account was closed as B of A did not generate any type of letter informing me of such; and, the account appeared (and as of today still appears) active in my online banking. So essentially, I was raped of nearly $900 for their blatant mistake. After requesting to speak with management or someone with higher authority, I was referred to make a complaint online.

Fortunately, I am blessed to be in a situation where I have a roof over my head and a career that allows me to put food in my children's mouths throughout this pandemic. However, I warmly invite anyone looking to apply for the card to keep my experience in mind so nobody else loses out. Overall, I am pretty peeved with the situation and B of As inability to resolve this degree of an issue. But they sure were friendly and apologetic about their refusal to cash me out. But apparently that's how business is done there. I will likely be taking my business elsewhere when the pandemic resides if I am unable to obtain my funds.

My experience has been atrocious. When we first started our mortgage, we turned around all document requests in 24 hours or less. I said I was worried about missing our purchase contract date and losing our home, since it was in a very hot neighborhood in Seattle and we had gotten a great deal. I was continuously reassured that we would not miss the date. They missed it. We got an extension and they missed it again. Fortunately, our sellers were out of town and we lucked out; they didn’t want to open back up for more offers (the house had been discovered by then). We could have lost the house.

Now, four years later, I'm trying to refinance (with another lender, thank goodness). I’ve had eight hours over the course of a month or more on the phone with this place. I had a Covid deferral that needed to be paid off. I couldn’t pay it directly, so I had to get it “moved to the front.” I paid the $9k. The funds were “unapplied.” I had to call in again, they “released” them, sent a new payoff letter. Poof! There was a new $3800 payment for Covid I needed to make, and it showed that my regular payment was late (It wasn’t; I paid it on time). Both my regular payment and my escrow payment went to “unapplied funds.” So I called in again, went through the phone tree and got them both “applied.” Except I didn’t. The $3800 still wasn’t applied. So I called in again.

After my fourth or fifth experience escalating to the centralized escalation team (or a manager, depending), I had to ask them to do it again. A manager named Erin this time said she would do it and call me in the morning to confirm whether it had happened. I said, “I need your number so I can be sure I won’t get left hanging.” “Sorry, we don’t have one; we are inbound only. I will definitely call you.” Surprise! She didn’t. Surprise! The $3800 still isn’t applied. Also, my current escalation manager says the previous folks left no documentation. I’m now being told I should talk to a new department. Maybe they will be able to help… I cannot wait until this is over. I will pull my $60k from my accounts and terminate this toxic 20 year relationship.

Unbelievable terrible service! To do a wire transfer, you have to make an appointment. Go online to make an appointment, click on the bank nearest me and it pops up that they don't do appointments (still won't do a wire transfer as well). Finding one then takes you through over next seven days before I find a day that has an opening! SEVEN days!! Times are very limited. Today, at 9AM I was notified that my appointment was cancelled!! 1 hour before my appointment. Now I have to wait another seven days! When you go to the banking facility, a manager is there to greet you while you see 7 - 10 people in line. I don't understand why the manager couldn't help - instead of standing by the front door greeting people. I have a friend who states he will take a nap while I go into the bank because it takes so long! I am DONE with BOA!! Don't go there unless you want to be abused!

Worst bank I’ve ever dealt with. Kept withdrawing money from my 5/3 checking account months after auto loan was paid off. When asked to stop it, they said they couldn’t because they didn’t know where the source was withdrawing the funds. I set it up with BOFA as an auto draft and now they can’t stop it. This started in Jan 2020 when I purchased a new vehicle and the previous loan was paid off and the auto loan account closed. Yet still $425.75 came out of my checking account every month, withdrawn by BOFA. They sent a refund check two weeks later each time, but I didn’t want to deal with that forever so I contacted 5/3 bank to put a stop payment on that and block it. That worked for 3 months (May-July) then in August 2020 it didn’t work. The money came out and was never returned. So I was forced to close the checking account so that BOFA had no more source to withdrawal from.

I’ve proven with documentation that BOFA has never sent me that refund check, that they claimed was sent twice, that the money has been missing from my account since August, and even 5/3 bank has sent them documentation showing that BOFA attempted to deposit the money into my closed account, and 5/3 rejected it because it was no longer a valid account. They’ve provided an exact date and even time stamps of that transaction taking place, proving that BOFA still has my money. It’s now December 2020, and BOFA has still refused to return my money. A billion dollar institution that steals from customers during a worldwide pandemic with millions of lost jobs. I will never conduct business with this bank again and I urge anyone that is considering to take your business elsewhere.

I ordered again with tracker (27$ + 11$) then they sent and got it in a week. I end up paying double the amount. It's a scam of checks without tracker.

Now with COVID taking a hit with my business income I am unable to maintain the required amount in the account to avoid their account fees. I called customer service and they don't care. I told them that I will need to find another bank that does not charge fees. They said go ahead. I will now be closing all my accounts with them and moving on to another bank. I have handled all of my banking needs with BofA for almost 30 years. After all of this time, I made a mistake thinking one of my direct deposits had already been deposited and wrote a check to my son. He cashed the check and the following day two payments, which were already scheduled, was withdrawn from my account. My direct deposit arrived the following day. Bofa did refund one of the overdraft fees but refused to return the other, citing an inability to override the system (a lame excuse, at best). This is the FIRST time in nearly 30 years that I received an overdraft fee let alone two; however, my good standing meant nothing.

Since so much of my banking is intertwined (direct deposits, auto payments, etc.) it will take a month or so but I will be moving my accounts to one of the many banks I have to choose from in the Annapolis area. If retaining my business isn't worth $35.00 to BofA then I will take my business elsewhere. My advice would be to avoid Bank of America as their customer relationships mean absolutely nothing to them.
