I went to deposit a local check for thirteen hundred dollars into the Bank Of America ATM. Before I finalized the transaction. The ATM notification said there would be a 7 day hold on the check. Keep in mind this is a local check. I then cancelled transaction. And received my check back. I then went to PNC. Which I also have a checking account. I deposited the same check. And was able to receive the funds the next day. Both accounts had less than one hundred dollars before depositing the check. Makes no sense why BOA would hold a local check for seven days.

In the past two years all of my experiences were negative. After I closed my checking account- due to too many fees- and paid off my credit cards, Bank of America reduced my limit significantly. I still used one card regularly in December for purchases and paid it off again around March. In June, Bank of America closed my credit card accounts with them. My credit rating took two dings thanks to them. The first was a significant credit decrease and the second was closing multiple accounts with one of them being my oldest open account. I do not recommend them to anyone. Their lack of customer service and in-person tellers is so ridiculous. Just know that you’re only a benefit to them when paying fees. They don’t want to spend time or money on you, but they want you paying them fees every month. There are so many better choices out there.

And they could not reopen it. Now they want me to apply for a new credit card. I will not be giving them my business anymore!

I lost my mom in May. It took over a month for life insurance to settle. Once the check came I made the deposit so I could begin paying her final expenses & payout her accounts. I was informed the funds would be available Monday as I made the deposit on Friday. Now, they are holding these funds indefinitely with no explanation. I have made attempts to reach corporate or someone who has control of this bank & apparently the only thing controlling the bank & the millions of dollars worth of funds stored there is the computers. The computers hold your money hostage while the personal bankers lie to you and only try to get you with an investor. Somehow, I thought having money in my bank would make them treat me like a person instead of just some numbers on a computer screen. I guess I was wrong. 18 years we have been banking here. Looks like it's time for a change.

I wish I could give it a Zero star. They not only have the worst customer service of all banks both in person and over the phone (if they ever answer your call) but they always (no exception) put your checks on hold for TEN DAYS. They get the money from the check the same day you deposit it but that money YOUR money is not available in your account until 10 days after. Worst bank ever.

Bank of America processed an auto-payment from my account when there were no funds available. I had already paid the vendor using a different bank. This caused a negative balance and the bank issued a provisional credit without my consent. I returned the funds promptly, but later BOA re-issued the money and began demanding proof of payment. I sent the receipts twice, but they continue to send letters threatening to reverse the credit, even after I closed my account. I never authorized the original payment or the provisional credit. This is harassment and mishandling of my account. I request that BOA stop contacting me, close this matter, and confirm that I owe nothing.

I use a mobile app to save time like we all do. In this case I deposited a check on the app. Well it did not posted. So I called. They told me it would not post for 4 days! That says it....the app sucks just like the bank. I've noticed over the years that the service has gotten worse. I will be changing banks after this. DON'T USE BANK OF AMERICA.

My review of Bank of America is not a good one. We've been with their credit department for at least 20+ years and never had any problems. We always paid our cards off except for this year. We were trying to rent a car from Fox Rental in Ontario, CA back at the end of May. We spoke to a man named Lucky with Fox Rental Car. We told him that we needed to be at the airport at 4 am on May 31, he told us that we could take the shuttle at 6 am because their place didn't open until 6. Our flight was at 6:10 there was no way we could do that. He told us to take an Uber. We then canceled the car. A week later when I saw the charge had not been taken off I called Fox Rental again and was informed that the car rental had not been canceled. So I canceled it yet again and had to pay $50 to cancel it. The man Lucky put me through to the financial department where I was informed that the money was non refundable and we had to take a credit.
Well I contacted BOA and made a dispute. Most of the people I talked to were very kind and understanding and wanted to help. April on the other hand was rude and unkind and told me that BOA was not going to back us up. We have been loyal customers for over 20 years and Fox Rental was not an honest or upstanding company. There had been many bad reviews for them and yet BOA took their side. It was wrong and we canceled our only card with them. I can see why they are shutting BOAs down. They don't stand behind their customers. We will never again deal with BOA.

I won’t activate your card! I spoke with others I know who won’t do business with your bank! I now understand why! Your bank doesn’t listen, or have internal communication! That’s a problem! I’m not gonna do business with any financial institution that conducts them in this manner! I don’t have to! And I will tell my friends to avoid doing business with your bank unless they are looking for a bank that doesn’t listen to its customers, or communicate internally!! Heaven forbid my card ever got hacked! Or I needed to dispute a charge! I have zero faith your bank has my back!
We could start with the initial verification due to a fraud alert on my credit file. Which I put there so I know all about it. But I called and verified everything and the guy says congratulations you're approved! Then the card never came! Then I got a letter weeks later to call again! By this time I’m wondering who was I talking to the time before? This really starts to seem like fraud at this point! But yet again this lady tells me I’m approved while also bypassing any questions I had about the previous calls!!!! Big red flag!!!
Then she proceeded to tell me she’s expediting the card to me. Which normally would have been great but as I told her, I was leaving town for a week! The next day! So please, no send it regular mail! As I wouldn’t be home and I didn’t want it sitting on my porch for a week! My mail was hold so the card would have been safely kept at the post office until I returned! But….. oh no! Bank of America and its employees do whatever they wanna do! I wish we all had such luxuries!
Therefore this card sat on my my porch for the better part of a week! Which I won’t be held liable if a fraud comes up! This isn’t my problem! Good luck! See you in court if that happens! So yup! I have 0 faith in doing business with Bank of America! Not my American dream! If you have any questions do give me a call instead of hiding behind this email, that’s probably also some lack of communication and or fraud! DO BETTER Bank of America! Your banking customers deserve better!

I deposited a check at the ATM on Saturday…. It wasn’t until I completed the deposit was I told that it wouldn’t be available until the FOLLOWING MONDAY!!! I called twice to find out why and I was told because it’s a “large” amount. They act as if I was trying to deposit a million dollars!!!!! I have called customer service twice which is a waste of time. I could have went to the currency exchange and got the funds the same day for a small fee. I have learned my lesson and I will NEVER deposit another check into this account. This is absolutely RIDICULOUS and I have no money and they won’t even make like $300 of it available. If they can tell me the EXACT day it’s going to be available… clearly they can let some of it be made available in my balance. NEVER AGAIN… This bank is THE WORST I have experienced.

I filed in my entire lifetime only two or three claims and I’ve been a 26 year Customer. I recently was disabled and I had a caregiver who I was going to put on as a licensed one steal from me. He used my debit card to purchase money and stuff at Home Depot without pin numbers and then return them for cash using my ID. As I reported the claim they came back and reimbursed me the money and then they took it back stating that Home Depot said there was no cameras at the checkout or at the refund center, which is ridiculous because the police station is next-door and I know otherwise.
There also was another claim at the same time with a phone that he stole from me when I first started with Xfinity or Xfinity gave me half the money back on their account but on the Bank of America side, they contested it. How can you have your both ways if they agreed that the claim was fraud and gaining the money on their side, then they should’ve agreed that the claim was fraud and America side, considering it was the same phone, but they returned that money as well. Now there was also an ATM duplicate charges.

I work for a company that sends me to the bank occasionally and I have to put my driver's license up for their money I put in the system. Not my money. My company's. I have NOTHING to do with their funds. Why do I have to give my license if I am putting the money in. This is an infringement on my personal information and this needs to stop. If I was withdrawing money I understand. But I am depositing. They won't take the money without my license. Not happy...I would never use this bank and as all banks are about to fail. (Thank God.) This is just another example of how the banks are starting to get too involved with my personal information when it shouldn't be. Again if I am depositing why should I put the info up. Esp when it's in a sealed envelope. It's opened in front of the camera. The info is there from my manager. Just deposit the damn money...Seriously how much longer until QFS is here....

You are getting paid to do a job ok. A couple of tellers were simply disrespectful and we decided to go to another branch and were helped immediately. Bank of America's ONLINE banking is far superior to any other bank's out there. If you want a clear, concise, one-click banking experience, BofA can't be beat. If I could give it 10 stars, I would! I just opened a secondary/backup account at a rival bank (hey, they're giving me free money to do it, so why not?), and their online platform is DISMAL compared to Bank of America's excellent, user-friendly, everything-in-one-click platform. Oh, sure...this rival bank's platform is "pretty", lots of colorful, useless pop graphics, but zero useful information.
I've had a similar experience at two other banks, as well. I do most of my banking online these days, and to those other banks I say this: when I want to view my account activity, I want to see it right there on the page in one click, in a standard "credit/debit list" format like on Bank of America's site, with clear statement dates...I do not want to have to "download and save" a statement to my computer, just to see my overall activity!
I'm not a big user of the app, but the few times I've used it, that is good, too. So...I'm pleading: Dear Bank of America: Do not EVER change your online banking platform, please! IT IS PERFECT THE WAY IT IS. Don't buckle to pressure to adopt a glitzy "pop" look with useless graphics/photos. That's fine for social media, but NOT for something serious like banking. That is all...

We recently sold our home and when we went into a branch to deposit the checks they put an unconditional 7 day hold and then we tried to deposit a small check for $1000 and they put a hold for 3 days on that. This review is for an existing FSA claim I submitted through Bank of America (myhealth.bankofamerica.com). I am still trying to get reimbursement for a MyHealth @ Bank of America FSA (flexible spending account for my employer) claim for my son's dentist and I was denied because they only read the EOB and not the receipt. There are 2 items my son's provider did not run through insurance because it will not be covered. Bank of America only viewed the EOB which indicated Patient Owes $37 which the insurance put through a total of $303, total of $340. However, I paid $424 which is clearly detailed on the receipt out of pocket.
Provider did not run $84 for 2 items on the receipt (a special toothpaste for $24 and another dental work for $60) because it was not accepted by insurance. I keep getting denied for the $84 which came out of pocket plus gas expenses for travel to dentist. One CSR told me provider needed to fill out a medical necessity form and other CSR I talked to today stated I needed to go back to my insurance to get money back from them. Very rude and loud and did not know what she was saying. All I am looking for is to be reimbursed my $84 + gas expenses which I am entitled to since it is my own money (even though pre tax but I am entitled to it because I paid out of my own pocket).

Good afternoon, I want to report and also considering filing a complaint against Bank of America concerning the service my mother and I received today from your Bank of America located in Dunkirk, Maryland. We went into the bank as we've done twice before, once at that location and at the location in Prince Frederick, Maryland, to get money off a cashier's check and then have the money give them to us in cash and then give us back another cashier's check for the balance. The young man who waited on us, was not sure as to how to complete the. He asked my mom for another form of ID which my mom and I already given her driver's license. He asked if he could send a text to the cell phone and then noticed that there was no cell phone number on the account.
I told him my parents have been customers with you for over 50 years when they open this account, cell phones were nothing as they are now, so there is no cell phone number. He then asked for a debit card to the account. I told him my parents do not use credit cards, they pay for everything in cash. He then said, "Well there's nothing I can do." I didn't told him that's not true, "We have come to your bank before you yourself were here when we did it, and did the same thing they were asking you to do, now give us cash back and then give us a cashiers check for the balance." We went to the Prince Frederick location, and did the same thing, no problem, why did day is there a problem.
He continue to say because when he puts in the amount of $1300, it flags it and says cannot be done. I said, "Well that man down there with a young lady teller down there, you override a procedure for him to get cash, you said his name was on the account, but he was not authorized to sign off the account, you told the young lady to override a podium, and as a non-customer charge an eight dollar fee and give him the money. Why can't you give us the same courtesy you gave him." He said, because it is at the manager's discretion and that he was not going to do it. He then went on to say again he was not going to do it. When I asked him why but you can do it for that customer but not for us.
I told her, "Let me get my son on the phone, also works at a bank and let's see why this procedure cannot be done when you all have done this and the cashiers check is made from Bank of America, it's not coming from another bank." While waiting for my son to get on the line, he went to help another customer after finishing with that customer, he came back and wanted to speak to my son, who had that time while waiting for him had a client come in so he was dealing with his client.
When I asked him again, "What is the problem? Why can't you just take and do what you all have done before for us before we wanted to $1300 because we were finalizing our dad Funeral for Saturday and we had to pay the rest of the money." That's the only reason why we came in the bank for the $1300. He proceeded to make us feel like we were criminals because he couldn't understand why we wouldn't deposit the money which I don't like going to deposit it. He said, "Well you can't get the money often until tomorrow and I said, "Well, we need the money to pay the funeral home today". He said, "Well that's the only way you can get the money." He then went on to say again he is not going to override or do any favors, he was done and I told him, "No you're not done." I said, "I want your name and I want I'm going to contact customer service and file a complaint."
My mom and I were the only two ** customers in the bank at the time besides the two ** tellers we had it. They had a line of ** customers looking at us. He made us feel like to them. We were criminals in there trying to process a check or get something that was not due to us and I wasn't having that not in this day and time, not from him. You need to train your people that when you do a favor like that for a ** person who is on the account by name, but does not have a signature, but you overrode his regulation, they wouldn't allow the young lady to proceed on you, overrode it and put him in as a non-customer. He paid a eight dollar fee and got his money. If you can do that for ** man why can't you do that for a ** family who is in it just to get the money to pay for a husband and a dad's funeral, why. So I'm not having it. I am considering filing is a civil suit against Bank of America for race discrimination.
That was totally a bomb ability unnecessarily. It was embarrassing to my mom was trying to bury her husband. It was embarrassing to me. He's trying to bury my dad. We have done that at that Bank of America with him there in the Bank of America in Prince Frederick, Maryland, we had no issues today, he decided to make an issue something that would been very simple. When I called customer service to complain about it, it was a young man named Darren, who took my report who said that he was sending him with that don't know either way. He said, no there was another way a form of identity that he could've done, he could've asked for your Social Security card to ask for a passport or even a birth certificate after he had gotten picture ID, which my mom had given him he never mentioned a Social Security card which my mom had on her.
So he did not give us any other option to remedy this problem, he just escalated and made it worse. He made us feel like we were ** criminals in a ** bank, trying to get something we were not entitled to. My mom name is on the account with my dad. She's authorized to get money off of his account, all we were doing is doing a simple transaction that he made incredibly embarrassing and unbearable. My mom even asked me why is he doing that when he's done it for us before. I told her, "I don't know but I'm gonna find out why." He gave me his card.
He said his name is Jeff ** financial center manager VP and he is located in the Dunkirk location Dunkirk, MD 20754 and their number ** and then another number of ** extension four I don't know exactly what your protocol is and what you will do but I am proceeding on because this was absolutely uncalled for and embarrassing. A ** man making two ** women feel like we were criminals in front of a group of ** people on acceptable in this day and time. so I will be proceeding on. I will be taking this to the next level. Bank of America, their people and policies are the worst experience I've had ever in Banking. They closed my account without giving me any reason. I've never had a bad check or anything of the sort. Maybe they were unhappy with the fact that I don't deposit my business checks with them because their checking policy and procedures suck.
As a business, I can't rely on them to clear my funds in a timely manner. I bank with Navy Federal and have deposited more than 250K with them and they've never held my check for more than 2 business days. I don't recommend anyone do business with BOA. I happened to have this Friday, May 23 off due to the holiday. I wen to the branch to close the account, and all the money in my account had vanished. It turns out they sent it to the state due to inactivity of the account. They NEVER contacted me, just closed the account and sent it off. I went on the state website for unclaimed property, and of course, it is not listed there.
I spent about 3 hours trying to track down all my money already, and now will have to spend many more hours trying to write and contact the state, of course you can never get hold of a person when you call, just a bunch of computer prompts that are not at all helpful. NIGHTMARE. What bank does this, just closes out your account without telling you, no email (I did a search), no phone call, nothing. TERRIBLE SERVICE and my daughter is about to have a baby and I need my money back. DO NOT USE THIS BANK.

Phone agents say neither account is on AutoPay. They post payments. Then the bank processes a second payment (autopay??) on 1 account and 2! additional payments on the other account. But they tell me there is no problem with their autopay system and we are stuck with the credit rating loss. If we close the accounts, it will further negatively impact our ratings.

They don't know why because a third party takes care of it and the only way to figure it out is to go back to a branch, wait online for a long time to hopefully resolve the issue. Also they had some features on their online which seemed to not be working after hours of frustration and calling them about it they responded even though it shows up online they don't allow that service anymore but they said they don't know why the option (of linking two accounts back and forth) was disabled. You would think that with Bank of America being such a big institution, they would offer a call back. Especially since most of the other places have a callback. Sometimes, when you have things to do you don't have time to sit on the phone for 45 minutes to an hour listening to the music and the voice over and over again. Also, many of their ATMS are not in working order. Once, one of the ATMs swallowed my card and I had to wait 5 business days to get a new one. These two things have me strongly considering switching to another bank. Especially since the interest rates are also abysmal. B of A is the worst company I've had a credit card with. I do A LOT of online shopping and had to put in 4 separate claims, unfortunately. But the experience that I have had, has been the worst experience that I have never experienced with any other financial institution. This enterprise is NOT in favor of helping/ protecting their customers with resolving claims. 1st, to be such a big company, they are not up to the 21st century. They do not have an email address to submit proof. You have to submit it to a faulty portal that later leaves the customer submitting their proof by fax or mail. So, dinosay... Right? And with that being said, they will deny your claim if enough/specific proof was not provided rather than reach out and request more info. Also, their hold time for assistance is crazy.
I've been on hold a couple calls for hours. You'll wait to talk about your claim and get someone that'll need to transfer you to a claim handler over them. That's more time on hold. However, moving forward, one of my claims was denied because proof I submitted through their portal was too small to view. I asked if their computers doesn't have zoom-in capabilities? Of course, he just deviated by repeating himself over and over. And another claim was denied because in ALL the email conversations I printed out and faxed over, didn't specifically read some type of wording indicating an attempt to return. And I did provide it because I can see from my end but rep stated otherwise.
But with all that I've encountered, I truly believe they would say anything just to work against me. Then I was told if I did provide what was needed (that got my claim denied), it's still not guaranteed that they would rule the claim in my favor. I have never went through so much to get a claim resolved. And B of A is taking forever and they aren't even doing any real investigating. I will definitely be closing my account. It's companies like B of A that is keeping scammers in business.

But a nearly identical check deposited into Bank of America is being held for more than 7 days. There is no justifiable reason for this kind of delay, especially when other banks can clear the same funds by the next business day. It’s frustrating, it’s unnecessary, and frankly, it’s unacceptable. Bank of America makes its own rules, holds your money hostage, and doesn’t care how it affects you. Original: I’ve been a “value” customer since 1996. Last week I paid off my BOA credit card from my BOA checking account. $20K pay off. I was so happy. But then I realized I accidentally paid it off twice. This left $1,000 in my checking account. I called BOA (over 45 wait) and was told because the money was processing nothing could be done. Call back after it processed so the next day I called again (1 hour wait) now I’m told that it could take TEN days to MAYBE refund the overage on my credit card back to my checking account. Meanwhile my checks will bounce. It’s now day 6 since I paid off my credit card twice. Obviously a mistake, nobody prepays their credit card. This has caused me so much stress. Over the last 6-12 months, I’ve made several attempts at a local retail banking center in Plano, TX to have my mom removed as the primary customer contact, due to her lack of mobility and moderate cognitive decline. The bank’s policy is that my mom must be physically present in the banking center, and present two forms of ID. This is impossible, due to her incapacity issues. After over 20 years with Bank of America I'm looking to see what banks appreciate their clients. Your business account set up is completely user indifferent as well as your customer service. Anytime you try and talk to human beings it's like asking way too much, we are going to force you to suffer through endless ghost chats or computer programs that cause nothing but stress and hassle and then when you finally get a human being you can barely understand what they are saying and they just tell you that that is the way it is and there is nothing they can do because that's just the way BOA is.... I'm so sick of these billion dollar companies treating their hard working clients like garbage that doesn't matter.
How many more years do we have to hear every one of these awful companies tell us they are experiencing higher than normal call volume? Why can you still not handle the demands of your clients? Why is that our problem? Why do we pay such crazy high interest rates and overdraft fees and bounced check fees but still you can't employ enough help to handle your clients needs? Are we asking too much of you? Do you even care?
I believe that I should be able to make changes to my account setups and the page layout on my account pages. Why because some businesses operate one way do you force my small business to only fit in that one mold? I don't want a corporate account. I want my business account to be able to be set up how I want. It's a business credit card with me as the only user so I don't want multiple accounts showing with multiple amounts. Is it too much to ask for you to treat it like any other credit card and just show me what I owe and the minimum payment? I know this is just a waste of my time because no one cares about me or my business but I'm posting this here and Google and the better business bureau cause I'm sick of being treated this way by all major multi billion dollar companies that forgot where they came from and are run by selfish money hungry private jet flying corporate clowns.

No cash ever came out. I stayed at the ATM and called the fraud dept. They told me they have record that I’m there and the ATM malfunctioned. They told me on a recorded line my money would be there on Monday. When it wasn’t I went to the Bank Manager at that location and she said it would be in there on Tuesday. Tuesday no Money put back into my account.
I went into the bank everyday that week micromanaging the situation. Friday April 4th I called the fraud dept myself after the bank Manager Mary Lou ** had tried all week with escalation and phone calls all week to get this corrected. She informed me that it also happened to 3 other people. When I went there the Monday following the Saturday there was a white van backed in front of that ATM with it open. On Friday April 7th at 5:22 I called the fraud dept again and was told on a recorded line that my money would be in there the next day. I reminded the lady that the next day is a Saturday, "Are you sure or do you mean Monday April 7th." She said no tomorrow. I reminded her that we were on a recorded line and she said, "Yes. I know." Well today is April 7th the Monday I was promised. This is twice the fraud dept told me one thing on a recorded line and it didn’t happen.
I’ve been a customer for 31 years. Anytime another company braided me BOA credited me the next day. This time Bank of America committed Fraud themselves to their own customer. Then lied on a recorded line and the 1,500 has not been returned to my account. This morning when I called the fraud dept again they are now saying the money will go back into my account this Friday April 11th. They sent me a new bank card and I told them to update my address and they sent it to my old one. I then called again and triple checked and asked them to send it out again and it was returned. It never showed. I am 100 percent sure it’s because whomever they have working the phones doesn’t know how to change an address. Here I am 2 months later with no bank card. The phone line is almost impossible to get past the automatic robot. She keeps routing you back and will prompt back to the beginning without you even saying anything. Also bank on being on hold for up to an hour to an hour and half. I swear these companies do this on purpose to make it impossible to do anything. Worst ever.

I have been with BOA for many years and was satisfied until recently. They have no concept of what their customers need. Office hours are only until 4 and no weekend hours. Typically I don't need to go to the office but this time I did and they were not able to help me. I wanted to transfer an IRA to another financial institution. I contacted BOA by phone at two weeks before the IRA was due to roll over (beginning of Feb). I was told that they could close the account over the phone but since it was not due and I didn't want a penalty for early withdraw, I said I would call back on the due date.
So on the 18th I called back and was told that I had to get the forms from the receiving financial institution. So, I went to the receiving FI and got the forms I needed on a Friday. I went to BOA branch to get this done since I was now in the "grace period" there was only 1 person who could help me and she was not in the office that day. So I called customer service and they said I need specific forms that they would snail mail me. Note this is the 4th call or visit to BoA and I still do not have what I need and I have received conflicting information multiple times. A couple days later, I got a call asking if I received the forms and I responded yes. Then she asked if I had sent return receipt or overnighted the forms. I had not because there was nothing stating that I should. I wish there was a rating less than 1.
Today, I got a message from BoA telling me to call about a case I have open with them. I am trying to move an IRA to another FI. I called them and I am told that they cannot close out my IRA because the receiving FI has to send the forms to BoA/Merrill Lynch. This is different then what I was told on all previous phone calls and visits. Again, different information than I was told when. They have the form the receiving institution gave me as well as the forms they asked me to complete.
The incompetence on the part of BoA and Merrill Lynch is mind boggling. It is shocking to me that an FI that does this everyday cannot provide correct information. I still don't have my funds and I am outside my grace period. On the phone with them again and they are telling me to start all over again with my FI. I will NEVER use BoA again and I am pulling all my accounts out of there. I have been on the phone with them for 35 minutes already. A complete disaster. BoA educate and monitor your representatives so they give the correct information.

We are in the process of closing our account with Bank of America. It has been a horrible experience with this bank as a small business. Every check from your customers gets a minimum of a seven day hold. Their rates for credit card transactions are among the highest in the country. Mobile deposits are limited and they literally charge you for depositing money into your account mobily after a very minimal amount every month. Their customer service folks actually just straight lie to you and offer no help. When you go into one of their branches their branch managers will straight tell you that if they do anything to actually help you they take a chance on getting fired. A very toxic bank to do business with and obviously to work for. Chase bank has offered much better rates and check deposits are deposited to your account the next day. Plus they don't charge you money for putting deposits into your account.

On March 1, I opened a savings account. I deposited $500 cash to my checking then transferred over to savings. Thought twice about it and was going to send to another account so I transferred it back to checking and then again to savings changing my mind. The next day, I was unable to access my account online. I called the bank and was interrogated by a Shannon who ultimately that my account was restricted for 24 hours pending an investigation. On Monday, March 3, I was able to regain access to the online account and saw that I had $3510. $3000 was sent via Zelle by my employer as this occurs every 1st and the 15th of the month and the $500 deposit, plus $10 that was already in the account. I spent hours on hold for Bank of America only to be told that my account would be closed and I would just need to wait for them to send me my funding.
I had bills that were in process, however Bank of America returned these bills due to insufficient funds, however the account had $3510. I then went to the local branch. The banker called the fraud department and I was again told I just need to wait and that bank of america decided to end the relationship. I called the bank today and was advised that the bank account is closed, the funds are still in the account, however the account is restricted and won't be released until April 14. I am very confused why my account has been closed for fraud whereas there was no fraud committed.
The only clue I was given was that there were over 20 transfers back and forth between my checking and savings account. Which still doesn't make any sense because if I did complete this, how is it fraudulent to transfer my own funds? Issues is, this is the only account I have been using so the bank has all of my money. Second they are returning my bill payments and I am incurring additional fees. Lastly, how is it okay for them to hold my funds until the middle of April without providing any reasons?

Immediately called #, was on hold (ignore) for total 45 minutes. Left car in ATM spot, went into bank (since service call line was ignoring). Was told that by two different bank employees that the money could/would NOT be ejected from machine, NOTHING the bank employee could do, except call same # I was already on hold/ignore with. After holding/ignored for 45 MINUTES, Martin in CALIFORNIA told me that it would take TWO business days(Tuesday 3.4.25). I explained this was unacceptable, he placed an escalation on it, I should have resolution by Friday/Saturday---no resolution Friday, Saturday or Sunday and BONUS the claim office is closed on Saturday and Sunday!
I called again MONDAY 3.3.25 830am, was now told TEN(10) to FORTY-FIVE(45) business days for resolution. I Immediately requested a supervisor (Kyatera in Texas) who was of NO help whatsoever, they will NOT credit my account or return my $ (all the while they are earning interest on my $ from their faulty equipment). NO offer of compensation for delay of funds. (I know I'm being petty now, but I'm angry.)
Physical safety concerns prohibit/deter me from making daily deposits (being a bartender/server working evenings it's late/dark when I get off). MOST ATMs are not in safe areas at night. This is for $3000, NOT $100. Anyone dealing with cash KNOWS that you can Immediately audit your drawer for discrepancy. BOA knows by now (3 days later) that the machine is OVER by this amount. The reason for machine failure is not my problem, my problem is the cash! They need to credit my account and audit machine failure LATER. If the roles were reversed and they deposited $3000 to me in error I'm sure it would NOT take 45 days to withdraw that error! I've been a BOA account holder for 17 yrs with multiple accounts (2 checking, 2 saving), I will be changing banking institutions when I receive my funds. I am beyond disappointed, dismayed and disgruntled with their lack of corrective response/action to this BOA error.

I have been with BOA for 15 years. After today, I'm sure I will stay with them a little longer. I'm ashamed to say this but I was scammed yesterday. By the time I knew I was being scammed, the scammers were already in my account. I had applied to a loan company I used before because I'm in a financial crisis and needed money for rent. This man named "Alex" contacted me stating that I was approved for $1,000. I agreed, with through the process and he stated that they would send a direct deposit to my account. When I looked at my account, it was only $450. "Alex" called me back with a totally different demeanor and fast talking stating that I would need to send that money back to him by Walmart or Walgreen in order to get the $1,000. I knew then I was in trouble. I agreed, hung up, and called the loan company who confirmed that I didn't have an approved loan.
I immediately called BOA & told them what happened. They changed my password right then put deactivated my debit card. I filed a complaint with FBI and FTC. "Alex" is now in my emails harassing me with the audacity of accusing me of stealing HIS money. The AUDACITY. Liars hate to be lied to, and scammers hate when their scams fail! While I was on the phone with BOA, "Alex" was on the phone with BOA as well, putting in a claim against two of my cleared transactions (a car payment & an electric bill payment) to get the money he sent me back when I informed him that per BOA, once they cleared, I can put in a claim to have that money removed.
So, after speaking with Abrigail in TX about my account, speaking with her supervisor, she was able to understand what "Alex" did to my account, fix the problem so that my cleared transactions he put a claim on didn't bounce and will remove the $450 he sent from my account to do with it I don't care. They call it an Advance Fee Scam. Basically, you're laundering their money through your account, and you'll never see the loan money you're on the hook for.
BOA Supervisor stated that I was smart to have called them before sending it back because if I had done so, it would have never been traced back. I feel like an idiot because all I was trying to do was secure money to keep a roof over my head. I still don't have all my money for rent. This has been a hard month for me financially with unexpected expenses, but I only have myself to blame. People like "Alex" prey on the vulnerable. I will never allow that to happen to me again. I did not lose money per se, but I have certainly lost all faith in humanity and my sense of security has been shaken to its core. Don't trust anyone. But I am grateful to Abrigail and BOA for the assistance.

I said that we couldn't give them our verification code to an unknown person on an unknown phone number. Said that I would call the number on the billing statement and to verify that I was talking to B of A. Told the lady and her supervisor, who became very angry, that we would not give them the code until I verified that I was speaking to B of A. The supervisor said that she was going to cancel my card and hung up.
After a 30 minute wait to speak to someone on the 800 number, then being put on hold repeatedly, I finally was able to speak to a new supervisor named DNA. She said that no phone calls beside the one that I initiated to her had been made to us. I then asked her how my online Bank of America account was disabled this afternoon. She said that she didn't know, but she could not be held accountable for what someone else with Bank of America had done. Told her that my online account is still disabled. #2: I was scammed $164 on my travel credit card. Apply immediately hanging up from the scammer I entered the scammers URL into my browser and it came up that they were big time scammers. I called Bank of America, told him what had happened that I had been pressured and I wanted to dispute the transaction. Bank of America told me, "It's processing. Call back when it's hit the account and we'll take it off." Since then I made an appointment with the bank in person. My appointment got rescheduled to another date. I was unable to go in at that time due to illness, therefore, I called Bank of America, explain the situation and they said there's nothing they can do. Do not go to this bank - they take your money, do not care about customer service nor your customers and in my specific instance they wouldn't even take my $100,000.

I wish I can give this bank zero star because that’s what they deserve. I recently opened an account online with Bank of America and have faced nothing but frustration and unprofessional service. From the start, my account was locked due to login issues—On my very first attempt to access it. After receiving my debit card, I still couldn’t locate or access my account information. I reached out to customer service and was advised to contact the fraud department for clarification. Unfortunately, my experience with Holly, the representative I spoke to, was unacceptable. She was dismissive and unhelpful, simply stating that my account had been terminated without offering any meaningful explanation or resolution. Instead, she told me I would need to visit a branch in person to open a new account.
When I tried to explain my concerns, such as the risks of depositing money into an account that’s supposedly invalid and why a debit card was issued in the first place, she showed no willingness to assist. Instead of addressing my concerns, Holly hung up the phone. Her lack of professionalism and courtesy is by far the worst customer service I’ve encountered.
I already bank with NFCU, but I chose Bank of America for its accessibility and to facilitate money transfers to my family members who also use this bank. This experience, however, has made me regret that decision. It is unacceptable to leave a customer in the dark about their account status, issue contradictory actions like sending a debit card for an invalid account, and provide no clear or professional guidance. I strongly urge Bank of America to address its internal processes and improve the professionalism of its customer service representatives. This level of service is completely unacceptable for any financial institution.

If I could give less stars, I certainly would. I am so disappointed with Bank of America. The service associate who helped me was lovely, but I'm beyond irritated with Bank of America. I opened a new account a little over a week ago and deposited a check (issued by Bank of America, by the way). The deposit was made almost immediately of $2,000 so no small amount. They then put a hold on the funds for a week. Not a big deal, but a little inconvenient, however, I waited. I waited the full week. Patiently. With funds that I needed access to sooner rather than later. Well the day the hold is supposed to be released, I try logging into the online banking portal, and it says that my information does not match anything on their records. I thought it was strange, but I've worked for a bank before and know their systems can go down frequently. So I call customer service. Again, the associate was lovely and so informative.
She puts me on a brief hold after I describe my issue to her, and when she comes back, she tells me the bank has shut my account down! No email, no telephone call, NOTHING to notify me that this has happened and that I can't access my own money. She explained it very thoroughly that after the bank approved my application, they shut it down because they "couldn't verify my identity". Whatever, fine. Call me first. Have me come into a branch and I will verify my identity. Instead, they decide to close my account with my money, not notify me, and now I have to wait a few more business days to even be able to potentially access my funds. This is the absolute worst bank I've ever dealt with in my life and I will NEVER be banking here ever again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.
Had I not called and been on top of it, who even knows what would've happened. If security is an issue, I'm all for doing my part in collaboration with the bank to keep things secure, I actually appreciate that. But how/why do you start an account, allow it to sit there for a week, and then close the account with no immediate notice to the customer? Greed. That's the only thing that I can think of to explain this. I've never had a bank do this to me before, but I certainly will not allow it to be done again.

I initiated an account with Bank of America on their website on Christmas Day with a 25-dollar deposit. The account opened, I logged in and could access the account. The next morning I noticed I was having trouble logging, so I contacted Bank Of America Costumer Service. I was told that I would need to go into a branch office to be verified so that I could unlock my account. I went into the branch office and verified with 2 forms of ID. The Branch Staff contacted customer service, and they activated my account.
The next day I was having issues while trying to link my account to my other bank so that I could input funds to the new account. I called Bank of America customer service and was once again told I needed to go into a branch to verify my account.... Hmm, okay, I went into the Branch again for verification... Two forms of ID, the branch staff contacted costumer service, and the account was unlocked. I noted to the branch that I was having trouble transferring funds. They noted I could do a cashier’s check from my other bank or complete a cash deposit. I went to my other bank, paid for a cashier’s check, returned to Bank of America, but was then told that there might be a 7 day hold on the other banks cashiers check….
This was not going to work for me, because I needed to wire money over the next few days. Therefore, I went back to my other bank, canceled the wire check, and took out cash. The wire I needed to complete was a large sum, so I took out $10,000 dollars in cash, went back to Bank of America and deposited the amount into my new checking account in-person. I went back home. A few hours later I went into my account and noted I was having trouble logging in on-line, but that I could log into the mobile app. I again called Bank of America.
I spoke to two people, one noted that my account was in the process of being closed, as I needed to verify my account by going into a branch office, the other noted that my account was active and fine. I was told, no need to go into a branch office, that the system just took time to update on-line. I said, "Are you sure? I just deposited money in the account, are you sure it is not closing? I can go to the bank now and redeem my cash I just deposited." I again was told, "No. Your account is active, and you are verified."
That was last Friday, this Monday comes along (12/30/23024) and I receive a alert from the bank on my phone that my funds are low. I logged into the account on my mobile app and noted a zero balance. Since I had just deposited $10,000 cash at the Branch the Friday prior, I was concerned and contacted Bank of America. I was told that my account was frozen, and the account was closing and my funds would be mailed to me…? “What,” I said..? I went through my verifications, in-person contact to the branches, cash deposit and that I had also called Bank of America to ensure the account was verified.
Back to the Branch office I go. The assistant manager was busy, but knew what was going on, so told me that she would contact customer service and call me back. She called me back and told me that the account was closing (for unknown reasons) and I should contact customer service, and that they could set up a new account for me and that the funds from the old account could be transferred into the new account. I again called the customer service line. Guess, what? I was told, nope, I needed to go into a branch to open a new account and to get verified…. I went through everything with the individual, and they said they would call the branch, which they did. I was told that I would need to go back into the branch to open the account and get verified. Therefore, again I went back into the branch. I opened a new account at the branch with the intent to transfer my $10,000 from the old account to the new.
After opening the new account, the staff person called into customer service. After a lengthy hold, and being transferred 3 times. The branch staff and I were told that there was no way to transfer the funds, as the account was now frozen, and that a check was in the process of being mailed out (7-10 days). I asked if they could cancel that check, unfreeze the account and transfer the funds. We were told no.
Long and short, 8 hours of my time, I had to take off work, I deposited $10,000 cash into the account and now am without the money I needed to transfer and will not receive my funds for 7-10 days. Unacceptable, unbelievable, and worst, worst, worst banking experience of my life. Merry Christmas Bank of America! You lost me time, money, and I am in a huge jam regarding my loss of access to my funds and the need to wire money. And there is no recourse. Bank of America is a mess for individuals/banking, I mean bad. Even the branch told me that this happens all the time. I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the handling of a court-ordered transaction involving funds from an account that the deceased held with your bank since 1979. The account was to be closed following a court order, and a cashier’s check was issued to my attorney for the funds to be released to me, as stipulated in the legal proceedings.
However, the series of events that followed have been both troubling and disappointing. On December 20, 2024, the cashier’s check was deposited into my account. On the very same day, Bank of America withdrew the funds, citing a “risk factor regarding the funds.” Additionally, your online app indicated that the funds were “under review” and would be available in three days. Subsequently, I was informed by a representative that the account was “on hold to protect me,” and that the review was necessary to ensure the collected funds would be returned to me.
As a customer who has trusted Bank of America for over 8 years, and as someone whose father trusted your institution since 1979, I find this entire process deeply frustrating and bewildering. A bank of your size and reputation should have no issues with processing funds. If there was any concern about the funds or the check itself, it would have been more appropriate for the bank to address this concern before issuing the check. Furthermore, if such delays were inevitable, it would have been better for me to take the cashier’s check to another bank, rather than endure the current confusion and delay.
It is particularly saddening to me that I am now questioning the trust my father placed in your institution for so many years. He chose Bank of America because he believed it to be a trustworthy and reliable institution. This experience has left me disheartened and unsure of the level of service and commitment to customer satisfaction that your bank truly offers.

Horrible. I left Wells Fargo, and with a babe like Bank of America, I was highly disappointed.. My location nearest me are rude and not reprimanded for it, I've never experienced such difficulties in refurbish checks and electronic transfers... My money gets stuck in between for days and no one knows where it's at. Customer service hardly gives any effort in trying to help, and you can read all of their energies, they are not even interested in their jobs. It's like Walmart employees in comparison. When my money clears, for the 7th time, I'm closing my accounts and going to whoever is their biggest competitor. What a waste of time and my efforts here

Tough Times leads to Tough Decisions, and sometimes deadlines, which these timelines coincide with your banking person's explained expectations. These banking Members daily were setting expectations of mine which led to superiors. Accruing fees on multiple sides and accounts. An Adviser/The president of the bank is now having to Adjust and remade the matter manually. Those in similar snares, will have to do the same, And Can Be strong about it. However these Banking issues will be the end of many working with this bank.

BoA account made payment on 9/16 for BoA cc that put me in negative $2.95. Boa charged $10 on bank account and $30 on credit card that had overpayment of $75 and it was CLOSED. Today is December 20 NEVER send, transferred or applied my $75 overpayment nowhere just forget about it and then you cancel my bank account debit card for 1 Amazon purchase and never sent me new card or remove lock. You are doing so many illegal action on piece of paper that is traceable and I will definitely print it out and send it to government official. I stop putting money in since you put hold on everything 10 days I asked to call check issuer to verify but you refused it even check was printed by you

Customer service has been horrible the last 10 to 15 years. Incompetent . uneducated in their job. Some can barely grasp english comprehension with a large structured complaint. Search Google "Bank America has the worst " _____" and it will fill in for you the words "customer service" ... Take your business to a bank that appreciates their customers by giving them a more pleasant experience. I have just had enough of an institution that has such poor quality with a giant name.

I closed my accounts due to terrible customer service, and today I tried to cash a business check on their Bank and the manager refused to cash it because I didn't have an account with them any longer. The waiting area was full of several other people "not happy with BOA". CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT BEFORE THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS!

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH BANK OF AMERICA!!! A couple of yeas ago, BofA allowed someone in Afghanistan to completely wipe out my checking account of $400. I never received a text or anything to confirm these charges. I live in the United States and have NEVER been to Afghanistan. It took the bank 10 business days (2 weeks) to return my money to my account. Two months ago, BofA had a nationwide glitch that froze or zeroed out customers' account. I could not use my debit card the entire day. Crazy!!!
So, now here on December 11, 2024, I went to BofA atm across the street from my house to withdraw $1,660 to take care of some business. My card was rejected saying fraudulent activy. I then received a text asking did I recognize the activity of which I responded yes and then told that my card was available for use. I then tried again to use my card to get the $1,660. The machine never dispensed the money to me. I could hear it trying to but no money. The atm shut down and returned my card no receipt no nothing. So, I then went into the bank to inform them of what happened. The receptionist called a representative who said, that the branch had nothing to do with the atm machines and gave me a number to call.
I called the number and was told I would have to file a claim in order for them to investigate the sitiuation and that it would take 2-10 business days to receive my money back into my account. I asked to speak to a manager because that was totally unacceptable to me. A manager told me the same and that she would escalate the claim. The next day, Dec. 12th nothing. So I called again only to be told that the claim was not escalated and they could only try escalation again and I was given the claims department number to call.
I did not call right away, hoping that the money would be in my account the next day. December 13th, nothing so I called the claims department only to be told that the claim was there and that she would escalate it again but there was no guarantee that I'd receive my money today or tomorrow, it usually takes 2-10 business days. Monday, December 16th same the told. Today, December 17th no money same thing. I am so irritated!!!!
The problem that I have is that with all of the sophisicatated technology, BofA cannot see/determine that their machine did not dispense the cash to me. Mind you, each and every time I've called, I've literally waited on hold for 40 minutes to an hour to talk to a representative only to be told that that's the process and unfortunately, it takes 2-10 business days. It took only a few minutes to deposit money but it takes 2 weeks for the customer to be made whole.
If BofA could clear clear up a national glitch within 24 hours, surely then they can credit my account and return my $1,660. BofA's policies/practices are not fair to the consumer/customer. I need my money NOW and there's nothing that this bank has offered me. As soon as I do receive my money, I will be closing my accounts with this bank and I strongly advise anyone seeking to open an account, open one with Chase Bank or another reputable bank because this one sucks!!!! BofA GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!!

Bank of America has such horrible service. They sent me a letter to upload my documents about a claims dispute. I went online to follow those instructions, and what they are referencing doesn't exist. I tried for a long time clicking around the website only to call Bank of America and get a technical specialist on the phone. They looked at my screen only to verify there is absolutely no way to do what the letter was saying (to upload my documents). What is Bank of America doing? Are they relying on technology that is yet to be developed and just messaging their customers about it in advance? Come on! Stop wasting our time!
I call the disputes line today, they transfer me to the fraud team to get the documents uploaded, and then the fraud team tell me they don't know why I was transferred to them for!! 10 mins of waiting on each call, this is ridiculous! Bank of America has bad customer service! On top of this, I went to download my transactions for the year, and Bank of America doesn't allow you to select a range to download on your transactions like most other banks do! Even my local Credit Union allows me to do that, and they are a fraction of the size of the BOA!

There is always an issue with this bank. Now they tell me that my balance isn't a true reflection of what's in my account. How does that work? It's so they can charge fees for transactions that have been placed on "hold". Total rip off and just plain ridiculous. I will be moving on from them asap. After 10 hrs I've had enough!!!

ZERO customer service. Closing branches. When the branch was open by my house they only took appointments. Then started closing after 2pm and on Saturday. Then they closed the whole branch. Luckily due to many bad experiences I went to the community bank and get help whenever I want with my account. I moved my money and opened cds there and it's all cool. Their credit card has no customer service. I suggest you move your money out of there before they close completely. Apparently, they cannot afford staff or branches or to help customers when they come in.

Bank of America has kept my money. They sent me a check for 11,000 which was not even all of my money in my account. They closed my account so I put the check in my son's account to cash. They stop payment. And they keep saying they sent me a new one. It’s Been months I call for hours on the phone to be transferred to wrong department. During this time I have suffered a stroke and stopped calling for a few weeks. I wrote a review on another site to which Bank of America wrote me a check for 6 whole dollars. I have the check in question and the check they sent from an old account that was closed 5 years ago.

I've had a bank account with Bank Of America for over 10 years not once have they increased my credit limit. On 2023 I had trouble using my credit card I called customer service and they said they chose to suspend my account. Come to find out they wanted me to pay off balance so they could close my account. I recently try to use my credit card. It was closed. I was notified that my account was closed the day after I try to use it. Bottom line Bank Of America is not a good financial institution for hardworking Americans. Bank Of America will only work with people with high income. Bank Of America can't be relied on if you're facing financial difficulties.

i just paid off a loan from BOA. They bought out my home equity loan from another bank years ago. So they are holding my deed- When you call you get a 30 minute wait time every time you call. This is not advisable if you want good customer service or anyone to ever get a loan from you again. I for one will never do business with you again just for that reason alone.
