I really like this bank. They take security very seriously. The moment my card is used at any TYPE of store that I haven't been to before - my account is quickly frozen and sends a link to my app asking me to verify if I just tried using my card or not. Once I say "yes, it was me" the account is immediately unfrozen.

You have to make an appointment to talk with a banker. The banker tells you all these things that they can do for you to get you to invest and most of these perks change or are discontinued in less than 6 months. They tell you they will follow up with you on x, y, z, but it never happens. Ends up feeling pretty impersonal and there goes the trust!

BofA's services are typical of the banking industry - very little to distinguish between the brick and mortar banks - as are its fees which are exorbitant for what they provide. BofA doesn't value loyalty. They jacked up my fees after nearly 20 years of patronage. We've closed all but one checking and one savings acct. and will close those also soon. We'll go with an online bank for better value and greater convenience.

Hi, first this is the first time in my life writing a review... well I really don't wanna do it but I found myself obligated to share it with anyone who had or wanna open an account with Bank of America. After many years with this bank I went to withdraw some cash & because I don't have my debit card I was asked to provide ID & SSN. Well I did, after that the teller started looking at me and calling others employees, few minutes later her manager approached me with anger and said to me you need to sit and wait for me... well I started getting nervous because she was talking to me like a suspect or a thief... when I refused to give up my turn she threaten me saying that she will call the police on me & get me out.

Just after I left I call the bank customer service & file a complaint, 2 weeks later the bank respond that they stand by their employees because I did not obey the manager order. Wow. Wow. I was denied to get my own money & treated like a suspect & it's my fault. Please boycott this bank as I did, this way they will get the message & maybe they will show some respect to their customers. Thank you for reading.

The 2 banks in my small town almost always have a lengthy waiting line, and in one there are often mgmt bankers sitting/chatting at leisure. Worse, when I tried to dispute an unfilled repair I paid over $200 for using my BofA/Visa card, the bank's dispute staff were clearly pro-biz. Would not reverse the charge even though I had provided exhaustive documentation timely. I am looking to pull all of my accounts, perhaps go with a credit union.

Moved from Wells Fargo to Bank of America 1/2017 because bill pay was tying up funds for over a week before payee received credit. BoA is better at 2 days. The main complaint is access to a real person. Online chat never available for account questions. E-mail answers so far appear that they do not read question, or wish to avoid e-responses. Poor customer service in this era of digital communication. Being disabled, an appointment at bank is not desired, but is obviously the direction the website pushes toward.

I don't know how many branch visits, letters and phone calls this has taken over the past 5 months for the grand sum of $900 and it still has not been resolved.

My Mother was a customer for 70 years and even lent the bank overnight moneys in the form of bankers acceptances, but, the present era presented and they were charging double digit fees for her basic checking account even though her income deposits and bills were automatic. In 2013, my son was attending college in West Virginia. He was 19 at the time and I had a joint account with him so I could monitor his spending. As I do every morning, I checked the accounts and found a negative balance of $888,888.000 pending. Wtf! I went through the transactions and saw someone deposited $1500 2 times in the account and then withdrew money out. They went to a Rite Aid and spent over $500 dollars. They also made other charges and tried to withdraw a ridiculous amount of money. I found out that they wrote fake money orders and deposited them. All these happened overnight in NYC. I live in PA. It started while my family was at dinner celebrating my daughter's birthday (my son was there). After dinner, he left for school. Well I called BOA immediately and told them what happened.

I wondered why I didn't receive a fraud alert at all, but my husband did when We went on vacation and tried to pay for our hotel. I got my son on the phone and to my dismay, I found out he was caught in a identity theft scheme. The BOA rep sent me paperwork to complete. A few days later boa wiped out my accounts and left me $20. I called and no one had an answer. To sum it up, they decided we were lying and took my money again. Now I have a fraud on my check system record and I am unable to open an account.

They did not send me anything accusing me of fraud, no bill, no letter in my name. They sent the letter to my son. I called and reported it immediately and they accused me of a crime!!!! I've never felt so humiliated in my life! I tell my story every time I hear someone talk about opening a bank account with them. Did I mention that all the transactions happened in NYC overnight? They didn't even investigate. I never so much as had a bounced check!!!

Bank of America is less and less customer "friendly". Almost every thing is done via ATM or a computer when I've taken the time to physically go to the bank. There are very few employees ready to help and when I've found one, they have to go find someone else because they don't know how to do what I've needed. I personally want a real person to me especially when I go to the bank. They also have too many "fees". I've banked with them for 50 years and am now going to PNC.

Forget about calling BOA. They just don't answer! I am a Preferred Account customer and have worked with BOA for many years. It is impossible to get through to them online or to get them to return a phone call. Worst customer service ever. I've been trying for two days to get through to customer service regarding a fee that I was charged and now I have to make an appointment for the following day--just to get a callback! And their local branches are even worst. Forget about getting "free" notary service--the notary is never there. I tried to set up an estate account for my mom during a time of just having lost my mom, and they are the worse. Who needs extra stress at a time like that? The paperwork is ridiculous and I had to make multiple trips back to the local branch to get anything done. My advice--find another bank.

Beyond its predatory loan tactics, Bank of America couldn't care less about the individual customer. They simply care about their bottom line. I have three accounts with Bank of America and have been a customer of theirs for over ten years. A few months ago, I went into a branch to change my name on my accounts due to my recent marriage. I was told that they could change the name electronically but if I wanted my name changed on my two cards, I would have to pay 15 dollars for each new card. This is absurd. They replace cards ALL THE TIME because people are able to hack their accounts on a regular basis. But, apparently, it costs 15 dollars to send me a new card because I was married. Naturally, I stopped using those cards because the name doesn't match my driver's license.

I kept the accounts because my husband has BOA, as well, and we can do online transfers for bills easily. Last month, however, my mother closed her accounts because they kept charging her a fee for a low balance account. A month later, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, Bank of America charges MY account (that just happens to also have my mother's name on it, as well) a "monthly maintenance fee". Bank of America has never charged any of my accounts a fee before and their explanation was that "Oh, well this account should have been charged a fee for the last year plus but it seems like a recent audit must have caught that mistake". Are you sure it wasn't because my mother closed her accounts with you, accounts that you were charging a fee, and you so happen to suddenly charge the shared account her name is on the following month? I am closing my accounts and will never recommend them to anyone. Stay far away.

We recently purchased a new vehicle with an auto loan from BOA. Within 3 weeks, we paid the loan off in full, or so we thought. We called their automated system and paid the payoff amount given to us by check. A few days later we get a statement showing we still owe money. I called and spoke to 3 different people, one being a supervisor and was told we didn't pay the interest, only the principal. The supervisor was a complete ass, and unable to explain why the payoff amount we were told didn't have the interest figured in. In the end, they made 108 bucks from the $38,000 loan, guess they were a little pissed about that. The payoff being wrong isn't what pissed me off, the terrible customer service and complete lack of intelligence is why I will never finance through BOA again.

Just cancelled my account again due to such a bad customer service experience, not only that but I guess I can't get paid because they can NEVER cash one of my checks, they tell me to deposit it it'd be available the morning after... Nope it’s on hold for 7 days. Any explanation for this?! No just "sorry." Like that'd pay all my bills. Very sad to know such a big corporation has such a bad customer service and never being able to comply with customer. They tell me that it's going to take up to and possibly more than 45 days to check the transaction, to make sure that everything is what I say it is before they send my money back to my Bank. Now I get paid every 30 days. Today is the 24th of July. My rent is due no later than the 5th. I put in over $1,200 and I have to wait 45 possible days for them to send me my money back. It's a $50 late fee for giving my rent up late and it's up to $50 per check to cancel the check. But no matter somebody other than Bank of America is on the hook for these fees, not to mention the interest that is being drawn as a result of my money being caught up in limbo with Bank of America. There's probably nothing I can do but I am voicing my opinion.

The meth addict who stole my identity also locked me into a cellphone contract for three years, which will total $4,300 dollars. The only way I can escape this is if I file a police report. And I can only file a police report if BANK OF AMERICA SENDS ME THE GOD DAMN AFFIDAVIT ALREADY!!! They have refused to overnight me the affidavit, even though I found out later they can. It has been 4 months, since I was first screwed by BOA, when I took BOA's suggestion to close my old checking account and open a new one. It was supposed to be a solution to the checking account fraud that occurred on my old account. And just two days ago, that old account FINALLY got closed! And no more checking account fraud, as I write this. But I sure went through A LOT, in the last 4 months! Head still reels from the lengthy: checking account balance inaccuracies; direct-deposit transitions; and automatic investments to other financial institutions outside of BOA!

    Original Review: July 7, 2017

I am a 15-year, BOA customer. I called BOA on July 5th, after viewing my checking account online, and seeing two cleared "checks" that were never written by me. The fraudulent checks totaled $894.98! So I called BOA to dispute the fraud. A BOA representative recommended that I close the account and start a new account, to prevent more fraud under my long-used checking account number. So I complied, only to STILL be living a nightmare! It is now two days later, and I still see wrong amounts in both my old checking and my newly opened checking accounts. I see no record of a more than $10,000 deposit that was cleared before the fraud occurred. My paycheck is not showing as being directly deposited today. A canceled $6,000 transfer to another bank is showing up on my checking ledger, although it never happened! And I am stuck depending only upon my own, manual ledger to see how much money I really do have!

BOA keeps claiming they are working to set my accounts straight, but why is it taking so long? And why can't I get live people who can give me consistent, factual information? I am now on hold (20 minutes now). But I will hang up soon, since I must proceed with my day, despite the financial mess. Later today, I will have to seek out a new, reliable bank!

I deposited a $5000 check written on my old bank account which is still active in my old state (Maine) on June 17th and deposited into my new BOA checking account. When I did the deposit slip indicated that $2000 of it would be immediately available for use and $3000 would be placed on hold until 06/21. Very reasonable for an out of state check. I went to start to pay my July bills this past weekend and found they (BOA) had placed another hold on the entire $5000 on 06/22. I confirmed with my previous bank that the check cleared (which in my mind means they SENT THE FUNDS). I called BOA today (06/26/17) and was told that another hold was placed on it because they hadn't received all of the funds. I confirmed that my old bank had processed and cleared the check last Wednesday (06/21/17) so that means they (BOA) have had my money since then and they have been making money off it and keeping it from my use.

I came right out and asked the representative if BANK OF AMERICA WOULD BE PAYING FOR MY RENT, UTILITIES AND OTHER BILLS SINCE THEY WERE HOLDING MY MONEY THAT WAS MARKED FOR THESE BILLS. She said no. I purposely deposited this check in time to ensure that funds would be available to use for my July bills as I am just moving to a new area. I needed to establish with a local bank and unfortunately BOA was the only national bank that was in both locations. If this was the type of service that I could have expected I would have NEVER chosen these money grubbers. They are beginning to be a lot like Wells Fargo. I have had Bank of America for 4 years now. I do not know what has happened in the last year but seriously, they have manipulated my account to where I have overdraft fees every single month. There will be money in my account and they will hold back items until my balance is low and then send them through and charge $35. That's just one of the examples. There are so many ways that they rearrange your transactions that are going through. Let's say you have a balance of X amount of dollars. You make a purchase, then on your banking app it will deduct the money and tell you your new available balance. Well, that's where it should end, right? WRONG!

When you continue to make transactions according to your "available balance" all of a sudden you start going into the negative a couple or three days later. That's because they will hold one of those transactions back and say it was PENDING. Then when it doesn't go through for a couple more days they say it was PROCESSING. Then when it goes through a couple days later than that, they say it was POSTING!! ALL THE TIME NONE OF THIS SHOWS. You are going off of your available balance which is x-y= z. WHAT? You use your debit card for that reason. To keep it simple. I will repeat x-y=z. End of story.

THERE SHOULD BE NO PENDING, PROCESSING, POSTING strung out over 5 days! Within time the next thing you know you are charged $35 in overdraft fees. It is a TOTAL SCAM. I mean a 10 year old could see and figure this out. SHAME ON YOU BANK OF AMERICA! How pitiful you have become! MORAL OF STORY: I would never never never bank with this ripoff scamming institution again! I'm going to close my accounts tomorrow and be done with it. I'm just letting you all know... I have been a BOA customer for years. I closed my accounts today, when I contacted BOA regarding $35 charges including a $35 "extended overdraft fee." The overdraft charges were for debits for less than $3. Yes. three dollars. And BOA charged $35 fee AND returned the item, and THEN charged a $35 "extended overdraft fee."

This is a direct deposit account that has been opened for YEARS. A portion of my pay goes there, and it was easily ascertainable that the account was going to be replenished on a schedule. I called to ask for ONE charge to PLEASE be waived. The answer was, "No, nothing we can do." This was the same answer I got when I went in person to the branch.

There is absolutely no concern or care for customers, and I am appalled at the blithe way the customer "service" people are giddily happy to take people's orders to close their accounts and never come back. They were very helpful with that. I'll get my close-out check in two weeks, maybe, and I will never, ever, ever set foot in a Bank of America again.

Apparently the bank is always experiences higher call volumes than are typical as I have called multiple times. If you are going to have that much security on a card you need to staff up your call lines to help customers quicker as they may be somewhat stranded in a country while you try to save money by not hiring enough team members to address the issues. Another thought is to allow customers to clear fraud alerts on your website and not even make me call someone. What are the chances I am going to have both lost my debit card and happened to give out my online banking information for fun. I am thinking of switching banks - though not sure if any other banks will be better.

I just simply explained I couldn't afford an overdraft fee of $35. It was overdraft for $1. Yes $1 and I have money in my savings. I assumed if anything they would just pull it from the savings. She goes to say, "Are you serious? We can't do that without your permission, we would have a lot of people mad in the world if we did that." I told her I had ASSUMED. She did't have to tell me that! "I have my PayPal linked to my account and this was a PayPal transaction that tried to pull the money" is what I explained to her.

I asked can she do it this time just for now and I would be sure to not let this happen again. She said to me, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS TIME JUST FOR NOW??" She talked over me and was very inconsiderate to my feelings. I told her I can not afford this $35 AND I EVEN TOLD THE TRUTH BY EXPLAINING I'M GOING THROUGH SOMETHING RIGHT NOW WITH MY CHILD. She said well there's nothing she can do about that and even if it were a penny she would still charge me $35. She then goes on to say BoA can not give me money! But how are you giving me money when the little dollar was in a saving account with BoA. You have your money right there! And you're CHARGING ME an unnecessary fee. From 05/31/17 thru 06/03/17 the B of A online Debit Card could not process fund transfers. This account was created by my State unemployment department, for the purpose of providing unemployment/disability payments. I am recovering from cancer surgery and not able to work at this time. On 06/03/17 at 6:37 a.m. my time, I called the Customer Service contact number listed on the B of A Debit Card website. I was required to enter part of my account number, the last 4 digits of my SSI, and my card security code in order to connect with a representative. The rep had no information why the online transfers were not available, nor any indication when they would resume. She offered to transfer me to another department to handle my transfer, and then required answers to 5 different personal/account/security questions before transferring the call.

I sat on hold for 54 minutes and finally reached another representative. He took 12 minutes to complete the transfer, including the same personal/account/security questions as well as my own bank account and bank routing number - all of which information was contained in my B of A profile, but which he was not allowed to use, he had to have my voice confirmation. This was all done on an ordinary digital (and unsecured) telephone line, which any competent technician or programmer could hijack or hack, thus acquiring all the information necessary to steal all the money in either account.

Aside from B of A's obvious lack of competence in resolving whatever problem is preventing the use of online fund transfers from an account, their customer service process itself is unreasonably slow, clumsy and inefficient; and it puts the customer at risk for loss of their privacy and personal financial security. I will contact the State EDD that created this account to inform them of this situation. I rated this 2 stars since I was (eventually) able to complete the desired transaction. I do not criticize the representatives who I spoke with; my complaint is aimed at the B of A process and operational lack of consideration for their customers.

Bank of America refuses to cancel the check and reimburse me. They initially said I would have to wait 90 days. After filing a complaint and informing them that the check is void after 90 days (which means they are doing nothing and it is not feasible for me to wait 3 months to move) I was told by the branch manager that they could transfer the check but it would need to be made out to the same payee. Since I was supposed to move in to the apartment on 6/1 and NYC real estate is super competitive, it will not be the same payee because I will not be moving in to the original apartment. There is no NYC landlord willing to wait weeks for a security deposit.

I need to have the check canceled immediately and I need to either 1) be reimbursed in full or 2) be allowed to transfer the check to a different property manager payee. I am desperate as I was forced to move back to my father's home and will need to find a new apartment asap so I can move out. I have a screenshot of the original cashier's check. Who changed my address because I have never given that address. Neither do we know anyone in RI. Now the bank wants to blame us because they say we changed the address, they don't want to send us another one and we are still fighting this until this day. Bank of America is the absolute worst! Right up there with DMV, Comcast, and Verizon. My son had his card stolen and the card was used at a 3rd party ATM. So we went to the local branch to file a claim. My son, **, longer hair (which he donates for Locks for Love, the cancer charity), and a tattoo on his right arm, was looked at like he just attempted to rob the place by the ** American branch manager. My son, goes to school full time, and works part time and had approximately $270 in his account. $263 was taken out, $260, plus the $3 fee for using a non-Bank of America ATM I'm presuming. Now, a couple smaller amounts have started to bounce, because he used his card before it was stolen and had not cleared at that time.

The whole time in the branch she did not want to help... then told him that it could take 45 days to be able to get a court order to gain the right to view the camera photos from the little ATM cameras they use. Long story short, my son is out the little amount of money he had, now check fees are piling up, and Bank of America wants nothing to do with a young college student who works 10-12 hours a week. I have opened an account for him at my bank where they actually care about the "little people." I left Bank of America about 10 years ago because of a somewhat similar situation. I told him not to bank there, but it's basically right across the street. I would advise anyone and everyone to avoid Bank of America, and especially the branch on Plank Road in Chancellor Virginia, close to Fredericksburg.

I am not new to banking because I have worked in the world of finance for 14 years. So, I understand, by reading some of the complaints, some people just don't get it. Well, my story is simple. I have never overdrafted my Bank of America checking or savings account. On Friday, May 5, 2017, I logged online, in the midday to look at my account because I was planning on going out for dinner that evening. What I discovered was that my login credentials were not working. This positively puzzled me.

I, then, called customer service. Prior to that, I heard what my balance was and alerted that my account was overdrawn by over $800k. I was furious at this point because I thought that someone may have raided my account. I was on the phone with the representative and discovered that someone did raid the account, the bank did.

After forcing the representative to send me over to the "Risk Department", they informed me that Bank of America made a "business decision" to close my account. I know that business decisions are made everyday, but my account has remained in good standing. I immediately asked for the $1049 sitting in my checking/saving account because I was just paid by my employer, as I am paid weekly. The bank representative stated that they would not provide me with my money. I got extremely angry over this and probably said a few things I should not have said to the representative. She escalated the call to someone else and I stated that I wanted my money.

Granted, I am uncomfortable with carrying any cash around because of the risk associated with this, but I know if I went into another bank, I could deposit it and some banks even provide a debit card, on the spot. After being told no, I inquired as to when I would receive my money and she informed me that she placed a request.

During this time, a loan payment that was ACHed from my checking account, bounced. The payment was only for $121 and I had over $1000 in my account. My car payment could also not be made, but fortunately, I was paying this ahead of the due date, so I could alert Wells Fargo to delete the payment and I would make it the following week.

All in all, I wish Bank of America would have had better communication with me as to the status of the account and given me the opportunity to take the money out and get my bills paid. The lack of transparency was appalling and I placed complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which I would advise for people to do when trying to work out an issue with a bank. Fortunately, they allowed me to pull my money out today (Tuesday, May 9, 2017) from the bank, but that is after I threatened them with everything under the sun.

The point of setting up the trust account was to avoid probate and for the trustee to have immediate access to the funds. Bank of America has insisted that they need the probate information and that my husband write and have notarized a letter giving himself permission to access the account. The documentation was sent via certified mail in December of 2016 and BOA said they didn't receive it even though my husband had the documentation that BOA had received it.

My husband sent the documentation a second time through overnight mail. We still haven't heard from BOA trust department. The only way to reach the BOA trust department is to leave a voicemail or send them a letter. This situation is preventing the completion of other aspects of my mother-in-law's estate. With this type of customer service, we definitely won't do our own banking with them.

I would not recommend Bank of America due to the fact that I deposited an opening $300 and bank account on Friday. By Saturday morning all my money was gone except for the few little dollars I had already spent. Kohl's customer service be there for told me that there would be a 10-day waiting period to receive funds back on my account but they would put in an expedited which would apply to my account on Tuesday. Heard anything back Wednesday for nothing. Go back Friday. They're telling me nothing. On Thursday I had called and complained about another fraud case of where I put $2,900 in my account on Monday night. The next thing I find out $2,500 is missing and now I am left stranded out of town with no access to the $3,000 plus I had put into the account where in which I've only spent $500 worth and rest of it I have to wait almost 2 weeks to get money to go home.

Whatever you do do not with Bank of America. They are liars, cheaters. Will do anything to screw you over. They make you feel like you're the crook. You're guilty of doing everything until proven innocent like I did this. It's one of those things. Common sense. Why would you getting your money in there if you will be taking out the next day. We entrust them money keeping us to be available 24 hours a day but when it's gone and they come out of their pockets are harder they don't give a crap where you're at, what type of situation you're in or financial status. Crooks.

We have had a account with BOA for a long time. They are always playing with our balance. We will have a check or debit card payment clear. Then a few days later there is no record of it and the money is back in our account. Then a few day later it taken out again. When the balance drops lower. I have talked to our branch manager. He said it could not happen. And if I could prove it. So we started printing out our statement a few times a day. We took it in and showed them. Was then told the we could have made that up. It did not match their records. Was told that the screen online is not the same as what they see.

Yesterday we had a balance of 7.00. This morning my direct deposit hits for 1300.00. But our balance is 1600.00. Looking back and 5 transactions have been taken off and money put back. It says we never got below 300.00 for the month. They were hoping that the deposit did not hit so we would have been fee to death. At one point we even put in 100.00 and never add it to our register. So we would always have that 100.00 buffer. They still would change our amount daily. Our balance would change daily even if there was no transactions. So you have to check your account 4 times a day to make sure it is correct.

Bank of America is a rip-off. They conveniently rearrange the order of how transactions are processed in order to charge multiple overdraft fees. Last night at midnight my account was positive over $36.00. This morning at 6 am $23.32 worth of transactions were pending. By 9:30 am, a check for $150.00 was pending as well $175 in overdraft fees because BOA had rearranged the order of how the transactions are being processed in order to charge additional overdraft fees. When I called Customer Service I was informed that they would not reverse the fees.

I will be banking somewhere else in the very near future. This creative method of accounting and processing is an ongoing habit with BOA. This has happened repeatedly over the past few months. Being charged $35 a clip or 4 transactions totaling less than $24 is outrageous and excessive. Two years ago they returned a deposited check to me because they didn't recognize the name (mine) that the check was made out to. They had a copy of my driver's license with my full name on file in their system. 3 years ago they cashed 2 checks on my deceased husband's account the day after his death, one of which was dated the day after he died. They had been notified of his suicide and that his debit card and checkbook were missing. But they cashed them anyway to the tune of $7350.

I deposited a cashier check from a big NY bank, and BoA put a hold on it for 7+ days claiming that it look suspicious. If so, a phone call could authenticate the check in a matter of minutes or hours, not 7 days. Not only that, BoA initially gave me credit for $300 for that check while it awaited clearance. Next day, BoA took away that $300 credit! I complained, the $300 credit was restored, then 2 days later, got taken away again! And when my account balance dropped below $1500, I incurred a $12 maintenance fee just because BoA sat on my check for 7 days! I have been a customer for 30+ years, never had a bounced check, but that's how BoA treats its long time customers. BoA = Bucket of **. Better put your money in a credit union than BoA.

That was just an agreement we would always keep a certain amount in our account so that we are always comfortable and have backup money! Well recently we had spend a lot of $$ due to emergency that we had no choice but to spend a lot of what we had. Well we still had money of course but one day I wake up to look at our account to see it's in negatives??? But there was nothing they could was said. Well the negative was ONLY literally a few dollars. But all of sudden BOTH ACCOUNTS were charged negative again and it didn't even say why!!!??? And they supposedly have nothing on their "records".

I am furious so FINALLY we build our money back up. My grandparents sent money. They bank with BOA as well. They sent it as a gift. Literally an hour after I look at my account IT'S ALL GONE AND they DOUBLE CHARGED their 35 dollar fee and they charged a 12 dollar maintenance fee all of a sudden??? I had SO MANY FEES charged and it didn't say WHY!! I look at my account and it says 2 35 dollar charges are being refunded back to our account which equals 70 dollars, but it was actually refunded today but literally within a few minutes they charge 35 dollar fee 2 times AGAIN even though they just approved a dispute charge and refunded it back!!! Now they take it back again?!? I don't understand this bank.

DO NOT BANK WITH THEM. You will be basically paying fees and more fees for outrageous reasons. And they seem to never know where your money went and can't give a refund and if they do give a refund they take it back!!!!????

I hate how long it takes to clear a check. I deposit at the ATM because with my schedule the banks are not open when I go in and get out of work. I deposit it on Friday and I only get a credit of 100 dollars or 200 and for the rest of my money I have to wait 'till Tuesday or Wednesday the latest. It's pathetic. And I tried that mobile checking and it takes a whole day to clear. I've had other banks that did it right away before (I didn't like that those other banks were easy to get hacked or something that's why I changed to Bank of America). They excessively charge fees and are obsessed with keeping the bank rich while their customers stay poor simply trying to keep their accounts intact. No surprise they keep getting sued. They reorganize transactions by dollar amount instead of the order that the transactions hit the account. I tend to find from experience that if you're ** and have under $1,000 in your account, they treat you like CRAP!! One day last year in July, I had a check deposit for about $38,000. So... if you have the money, you're NOW "Mr." or "Mrs." or "Miss." I was still scrutinized at the Teller, me being **, and having that much funds (was some of my 401k monies) was asked to show driver's license, debit card, and a third form of I.D.

I was appalled. As I think back today to that occurrence, I should have asked for the $38,000 in all $1s just to give the Teller a hard time. I asked, "Was all of that necessary?" The Teller commented that she wanted to be sure it was me. REALLY??? I'm standing in front of you, you're looking directly IN MY FACE, you have my driver's license, my debit card, a bill with my name on it. What else do I need to do give blood? I then realized, NO... you have just been discriminated against!!! Put your things back in your purse, demand the rest of your IDs back and take your large check to another bank!! Another Teller then stepped in to assist me (so I wouldn't leave). After 30 minutes or so, I had the money (I EARNED BY HARD WORK FROM MY FULL-TIME JOB)!! I absolutely HATE this bank!!! I am considering leaving and going to Wells Fargo or BB&T!!

On Feb. 22nd I closed the BOA accounts. Even though they were closed, they decided to accept a payment from SSI (instead of bouncing it back). I called BOA (over 20 times) to be told that the money would be released 5-10 days, then 5-15 days, then 5-30 days, and now 120 days. The local Social Security office even called while I was there and they were told that yes, BOA has the money in their possession and no, it would not be released for 120 days as per their policy. My account was clean when it was closed and I didn't owe the bank anything. The SSI is for an 11 year old child who fell into a bonfire, has had over 600 surgeries and procedures and just had another partial amputation surgery.

Our water and electric were both turned off due to non-payment of the agreed payment plan. I pawned what little I had to get them back on for now. SSI cannot reissue a payment because BOA has already admitted they have the money so it has already be distributed. SSI asked if BOA could just send the money back and was told no they can't as per their policies. SSI asked if BOA could come up with another solution and was told I could go into a local branch and have the manager call the 800 number to get a check released to the local branch.

When I arrived at the local branch, the bank manager called the number and was told that no that wasn't an option and that I would have to wait for them to send me a check and to allow 120 days. If I do not receive a check after 120 days, then they will issue another check that could take up to 120 days. This is an SSI payment. It does NOT belong to BOA. A disabled child is suffering because of their negligence and lack of concern.

As per SSI's request I have filed a complaint with the BBB and with our local governor's office. This kid has so much already to go through and now he has to deal with not having water to wash his wounds or electric for heat. What an absolutely horrible company to deal with. I really wish someone could help me to get this money released. So far I've had no luck. I really thought SSI had more power but I guess BOA doesn't care who they piss off at this point. SSI was shocked at the lackadaisical attitude of BOA and are going to suggest that others do not use them for direct deposit.

I go to school full time, and BOA stole my tax return. I had a negative checking account that wasn't even linked to my savings account that was supposed to receive my funds. My return was supposed to be credited by direct deposit from the IRS to my savings account. The checking account I had overdrawn to help pay bills months earlier. I have had charges of accounts before and know that they will collect the debt through normal channels, but this they literally just auto-debited out of my account.

I was negative 250 in the checking the tax return was 350, they auto debit the negative 250 without any notice in the middle of the night and proceeded to take the rest for "fees" (i.e. 12 maintenance fee per account) and left me with nothing. Literally I was negative 250 in one account and positive 350 in the other, at 9 am the next morning I was at 0 in the first and negative 10 dollars in the savings. So not only did they steal all my money without my permission (on top of the fact that I now have no money for food or gas, or even a bullet to end my misery after this); This is unacceptable for a business relationship where literally 100's of thousands of dollars have flown between my relationship with these accounts (I've had the account for 15 yrs).

Their customer service is a stone-wall of robotic sounding "machine-people" who will read lawyer speak from their handbook and expect that to be a justification for their midnight thievery. Saying things like "You are causing me to starve this month" or "I need that money so I can get gas in my car to be able to get to work to pay back the money" are all foreign concepts to them. They must be robots having never had to deal with these issues. The managers (Alice and La Shante) both demonstrated their inability to think for themselves, when after explaining that my food and gas and future was all tied up in that 250 dollars, they went on to say, "well we see that 6 months ago your mom threw you 100 bucks. Can you go beg her?"

They wanted me to justify the transactions between myself and family members as a reason whether or not to give me the fund-age back, when it wasn't theirs to decide in the first place! They will talk you in circles and offer no help. ** whole bank. And every ** that works for your stuck up back alley BJ organization. The fact that I will have a 100K job in the next 2 years and the fact that I will be taking all future business with me was completely lost on these neanderthals. Manager are supposed to be able to see beyond the rank and file and see that future loss will be far greater, then begrudging a starving college kid out of 200 bucks.

Hope it was worth it Bank of America. Because honestly your only purpose to exist is to protect the money of your stakeholders, and since I have money invested in the bank (even 1 dollar) I am still the person that you are supposed to make happy. All relationships are about trust, and this bank obviously doesn't trust its customers, and more so, obviously themselves can't be trusted. Good luck running a bank with no customers.

My greatest mistake that I'll forever live with is opening an account with BOA. I was full of confidence when I walked into a BOA branch to open an account not knowing that will be the worst day of my life, I just arrived from Africa some 8 months ago and I used to hear how great BOA is not knowing it's completely the opposite. I walked into a branch to open an account and it took over an hour to have an account opened. The lady that attended to me seems new on the job and doesn't even know what she was doing, I gave her my email address and phone number and all other information she requested and after making deposits through the ATM and setting up my online banking, I headed home.

On getting home, I tried to login into my account but it wouldn't let me. I called the online banking department and after waiting over an hour, I was able to get through to a representative. After verifying my info, I gave him my correct email address and phone number and I received an email immediately informing me that my information has been updated. Few days after, a client made a wire of 3500 into my account. Everything looks good and after some days again, another client made another wire of the same amount of 3500 on a Saturday and on Monday I got another wire of 36000. I signed into my account and both the wire of 3500 on Saturday and the one on Monday were still processing, I went into a BOA branch same Monday to do a wire for 2300 but the lady at the branch told me there's a note on my account from where I opened it that I can only do a wire transfer with my personalized card.

I immediately called BOA customer care and was informed there's was nothing of such. After work same Monday, I headed to the branch to know why I have not received my personalized card yet and why they had to put a note on my account. The lady checked my account and said there was nothing of such and when I asked about my personalized debit card, I was told they already sent it out but I should call customer care to request for the card to be resent. I called customer care and requested for a new card and was told the card would arrive in 5-7 business days. Meanwhile I told the lady at the branch I opened the account that I would like to do a wire but she informed me the banker in charge of wire is not around and to book an appointment go the next day which is on Tuesday.

I booked an appointment and on Tuesday I called customer care before going to the bank only to be told I need to go into a branch so one of their bankers could call and they can tell me what's going on. I went to a branch immediately and the banker told me to wait while he called customer care. After 46 minutes, the banker came back and told me my account is under review and there's nothing that can be done this time. I immediately called BOA customer care again and was informed I needed to go into a branch. I told the rep I'm still at the branch and one of their banker just called but the rep seems lost and confused and transferred me to a manager. After over 2 hours on phone, they kept transferring me to different dept but none could actually help, they finally hung up. I called back again and another rep told me to go to a branch again that they could not see on my account that a banker from their branch called.

After work, I went to the branch I opened the account but before I could even sit down, the bank manager came and told me that my account is on hold and I need to go home, they will give me a call. He told me they tried calling me the previous day but couldn't get thru, that was a blatant lie coz my phone was with me all day and even if I wasn't with my phone when they called, they could have left a voice message. I told the manager I already called customer care and was informed to come into a branch so a branch rep can call to see what can be done but he refused and told me he already knew about the situation and there's nothing he can do. I pleaded with him to even open my account and call the number the customer care told me a branch rep should call but he refused.

Till now no call from anyone and my account is still on hold. I tried checking my account online today only to get a message that I need to update my email address that the one on file is incorrect. I now discovered that the wrong email address which I called to have corrected same day my account was opened was still the same one I was promoted to correct, this bank really sucks. The most painful aspect is that when the 3500 and the 36000 wire cleared my account, I immediately called my company in South Africa to release money to the companies that made payments into the BOA and my company has already released the money to the other merchants, now our own money is still stuck with BOA and no update or phone call from anyone to say what's really happening. This bank sucks.

Unfortunately my card was recently compromised and someone stole $1123 of my disability payments. As soon as I discovered the breach on my debit card, after my card was declined at a gas station on 3/25/17, I contact the customer service number and spoke with a Jessica 3/25/17. She informed of 3 separate withdrawals on my card that occurred the day before 3/24/17 and one on 3/25/17. All of these illegal withdraws happened in another town, another county. She also informed me I would have to wait till Monday 3/27/17 to file dispute, and she would not give me dispute contact number.

Well, I went to their website, found number and contacted them to file dispute on 3/25/17, and close debit card I had and have them send a new one, 2 day air. I was informed by Amanda and Paige that it would take at least 10 days before reversal of funds after a review of claim. I asked for expedite and Paige said she would put in hardship request to speed it up. I made follow up calls on Monday 3/27 and Tuesday 3/28. By Wednesday 3/29 I spoke with a supervisor Wayne and he informed me the dispute claim was closed, due to he said they determined someone with another debit card and my pin made the withdrawals, and because the person used a pin number it must have been me or someone I know.

He kept insinuating I took the money or someone I knew took the money out. That is NOT the case. Plus my card was with me, I was at work. Now, according to the police dept, my card was probably skimmed and the thief can get pin numbers also when they skim cards. But, this Wayne person was not hearing any of that. Basically I am out $1123 and they have no intention of giving it back to me. I feel as if I was a actual Bank of America customer, EDD accounts do not have B of A bank accounts, they would have treated better and reversed funds right away.

I told that person, "I made the appointment a week ago. Why didn't I get a call before I wasted my time and effort to get there?" No comment.

At 12:00, 3 1/2 hours later, the phone rang saying the notary was in. So I rushed back to B.O.A. The branch manager who was the notary told me to wait and wait and wait. Finally I went into a office and was told to wait and wait and wait! Finally she comes in running, rattling her keys, looking in cabinets, saying "I lost my notary stamp," and ran out and I waited and waited and waited . Now I have wasted the whole morning. This manager I have seen in the past yelling at customers to give them orders to go to a automated teller, and so on.

I started banking at Barnett and B.O.A. acquired 15 or so years ago, so I have been at B.O.A. for 20 years, and never bounced a check or paid a overcharge fee. I took my document to another bank, not B.O.A, just down the street where 3 bankers were at the door for me, opened a new checking account, had my document notarized, that person said, "We are always happy to help," and was out the door in 15 minutes.

Bank of America is going down the drain. They keep getting worse every single year. I have dealt with horrible customer service that would talk over me and end the conversation about them taking my money through the ATM and then it took my money saying that there was an error when I deposited the $3,900 and they only credited 300. The customer service tells me that "An ATM machinist will be going out to the ATM to fix it and give you your money." So I go and sit there for 3 hours and nobody comes. So I called Bank of America back and they said that they would not be able to give me my money back. They are not allowed to do that. And then I was on the phone for an hour and a half waiting for app manager to tell me what I need to do. And I have to fill out a claim and wait until three days for them to review this and confirm to get my own money back.

This is the most outrageous thing I have ever dealt with with a company. How do you take somebody's money and tell them that you can't have it back and it's not in their account. Those the most outrageous thing I have ever dealt with with a bank. For them to expect you to trust that you are going to get your money back and that they are doing the right thing is outrageous. I have lost all trust in Bank of America and will tell everybody I know of this experience. This is unreal and the experience overall is horrible. I would not recommend Bank of America to anyone anymore.

My mother wrote a check to my account to pay my rent. I then purchased a cashier's check to make the payment. Days later after the check had been cashed, Bank of America then put a hold on my mother's original check sending my account negative. The hold was set to be released in less than a week, but it never happened, and my mother never received her money back. After that I was blocked from viewing my balances for my credit and debit accounts and a hold was placed on all of my banking. When I called to find out what was going on, I was transferred multiple times and finally an incredibly rude customer service representative told me that my accounts had all been closed. Specifically he acknowledged that there was nothing I could do and that they would be closed immediately. Just yesterday I was told that my accounts are all still open, my credit cards have been billed for late fees and I'm completely astounded.

When I called again just now, no one apologized to me or explained to me what was going on. They originally only let me know that my credit account was still open and then after being transferred and me doing some prying they let me know that my checking account was also still open. When I went to inquire further I was again told that they couldn't do anything about it. So here I am, with no active cards or any way of viewing my accounts and balances, still being charged fees. This is truly insane and no matter who I've spoken to in the company no one has told me what is actually going on. I've since looked into customer reviews and seen thousands of stories just like mine. This is class action lawsuit worthy. This bank needs to be closed.

I have NEVER had a problem with this bank, I have never been charged any outlandish fees. I am a premier customer and I get an additional .75% back on my BofA Visa card for a total of 1.75% on everyday charges. If you run your accounts properly they are a FANTASTIC bank. Best bank in the USA. What I read about most complaints is from people who screw up their own accounts then blame the bank, is that the American way?

I am SOOOO lost on where to begin. Due to my husband's torn ankle, he is in constant pain especially standing in a factory for 10 hrs a day! It didn't really start to bother him until these last 6 months. So in order to help my husband with some of our bills & finances, I posted a Babysitting Ad on Craigslist. I have a copy of that innocent, true & sincere posting as well. I was just thinking 10-20 hrs a week (if that), even 5$/hr... Just SOMETHING to help my husband & I's TERRIBLE financial situation.

I had NO IDEA about how these scammers do what they do... until recently, that is. I have all the text messages saved along with the UPS PRIORITY MAIL envelope showing from California. I had NO IDEA how much she was sending. All she told me was that she needed a sitter for her son and that they would be moving to my town and with some of the money she sent me, I was to apparently put deposit down on their new complex here in La Salle County, Illinois. I am in Peru, Illinois. This is the kind of stuff you see on AMERICAN GREED; NOT in my little "Rinky-Dink" small town!! Needless to say, Bank of America held the check and on the deposit slip it says that the check seemed FRAUDULENT so they would have to hold it for at least 10 days to verify its authenticity. I called them to ask them why now we are OVERDRAWN $1,500!!

The worst part is that my husband and I were LITERALLY COUNTING on our tax refund; checking EVERY DAY... which is why after 10 days, it showed our balance at $2,650. We were ELATED, SHOCKED, AMAZED, etc. I thought it was an answer from the Lord above since I prayed and prayed for some relief money wise, and then this SCAM happens and my husband & I are TOTALLY Broke now with NOTHING!

When I called Bank of America, they explained to me that that was why they didn't charge us overdraft fees, etc. WHAT??! I just don't know what to do! I don't know where to turn to. I truly need help in any way possible. My husband & I had been promising our landlord that we would be caught up with our rent & pay AT LEAST ONE payment on my car for fear they could take it from us at ANY TIME! I have no experience with attorneys or lawyers so if you could do something to help my husband & I not get EVICTED or LOSE our ONLY vehicle, I would probably just cry from sheer RELIEF! We have been NOTHING but stressed out and worrisome 24/7 & with each day that passes, our landlord is getting less & less patient & understanding. I TRULY AM afraid we will be thrown out with nowhere to go and COMPLETELY broke on top of it all!

I just CANNOT believe this happened to us! I entrusted that a bank would know if a check was good or not, especially since they held it for 10 days! I told them that that check should have NEVER gone through then! They have snubbed me off, and won't refund even just our income tax return!! I also don't want this to happen to ANYONE ELSE! Especially the elderly who may get taken for all they have!! What can we do to stop this and make it better?? I called my local newspaper, The News Tribune and they told me to contact you, so that is what I am doing. I am really not counting on even getting a reply, let alone help, just because you are a VERY BUSY Company, an IMPORTANT one at that!

I have pictures of the check that was sent along with the UPS envelope from CA. If you think we can do ANYTHING, PLEASE feel free to email me at **. Thank you so much for your time as I know it is limited since you are such a busy business. So I TRULY appreciate you reading this message. I got more info, so perhaps I will get the chance to talk with you. Hope to hear from you as soon as u possibly can get back to me. Thank You Again So Much!

There was a hold on my account for $345.00, and my deposits totaled close to $900.00. Bank of America credited both deposits as scheduled and then without warning, took the money back and held all funds for no reason. I was furious.

I went to the local bank where I opened the account and spoke with the manager that opened the account for me. He acted real ornery and stated that he couldn't help me with the issue and to talk with the "RISK" Department. I did so from his phone, as he refused to call and investigate himself. I spoke to a "Danielle" in the "Risk" Department and she vaguely stated that my check was on a "VERIFICATION" hold and would be there for two weeks. This was not what I was told by a previous bank representative that originally told me a few days. Furthermore, this Danielle, stated that I needed to read page 20 of the Customer Agreement packet. When I read it verbatim to her, there was nothing describing or legitimizing the actions that took place with my account. When I brought that to her attention, she stuck to "talking points" and did not offer any concrete or rationale explanation.

The bank manager stated that they were in the process of closing my account, which was fine, as I felt Bank of America was a poorly run bank in the first place. However, them keeping my hard-earned money was unwarranted and illegal. The purpose of this write-up is to warn potential customers of this illicit activity that the bank does to its customers. I've especially been concerned about the reviews from Hispanics, ** customers, and other minorities. They can expect a lawsuit from me and I will look to join with others who have had the same experience. BEWARE OF THIS BANK and review other reviews before banking with them!!!

I have been with BOA since 2004 - with excellent credit scores and on time payments. Surprisingly on Feb 24th 2017 at 0808 am as I had stopped on my way home to do a deposit towards a payment to my credit card (Apparently a new feature) introduced to me by Chris **, a relationship manager at the local branch in Chapel Hill. To my greatest dismay, the machine did not complete my transaction nor returned my monies. I received a slip urging me to call the number and report to claims. Despite me following their instructions and doing exactly what I was asked to do, and compounding to the many trips to the branch and phone calls - I still have NOT had any resolution.

Initially I was informed it will take 24 hours for the machine to be reset, then later it was 7-9 business days, then 5 business days and till this minute up to 3 months. He even added, they need to review videos of me doing the deposit. How long does it take to see a video of a deposit that took me less than 3 minutes to do an ATM transaction. Does this sound reasonable to anyone? Until this second, I have received ZERO answers to my claim. Today I was told by Chris at the Branch that only $400.00 was found as over deposit in the ATM on the said date; not saying it was mine - however, not knowing whether it pertained to me or another customer waiting to complain.

I am disgusted, nauseated, sick and upset. I never knew a huge conglomerate of a financial institution will set up a faulty machine to collect monies from hardworking citizens. This is sad, sad, sad - I am horrified by this. Till this minute no one, no soul has contacted me from BOA to inform me of any claim/dispute developments. I need answers, and most of all want my monies back.

I couldn't sign in and when I did, I continued to get a message that my account don't exist. So I called the number provided. I was told that my account was in the process of being closed. I told them that my paycheck was suppose to be deposited. The bank rep named Aletta (always get a name) and she said that they can closed my account anytime they want without giving a reason and when I opened my account I signed a document stating that. So I went a branch and talked with Dominic (Bank Rep) and he called the risk management department. They said that I would not receive my funds between 10 to 15 days.

On Monday, March 13, 2017, I went back to the branch and talked to Bank Rep Moe. I explained to him what had happened. He said "Let me talk to my bank manager." The bank manager refused to assist and Moe called and talked to Bradley in Risk Management. Once again they refused to give a reason and said that they can closed your account anytime. I looked a the agreement and there was nowhere on this agreement that you are to sign. Plus it never said anything about send your money to you between 10 to 15 days. Moe said that my paycheck was returned on Monday, March 13th.

Later on Monday March 13, Leslie from the collection department contacted me and ONCE AGAIN, I explained my situation. Leslie said that she sent a email to Risk Management to find out why my account was closed. Then she told me that my paycheck was rejected and sent back to my employer on Friday. Now I have been given three different day of when my paycheck was returned. Monday evening Jason from the BoA that monitors Social Media contacted me and once again I was given another BS story line about my paycheck returned.

On Tuesday March 14th I contacted Leslie because she said to call her for she will give me an update. First the Risk Management dept would not answer the email and that she would reach out to them again. Then Leslie asked me to hold and then proceeded to hang up on me. Sooner or later BoA will fall and they will fall hard for how they treat people. Still waiting on my paycheck. So I messed up my routing number and or account number this year while filing my taxes, in return they sent me a check. I deposited it into my BOA account VIA mobile app. That same night I went to see if my funds were available only to see my account said negative 888,888.88. I was like, what in the world. Needless to say I reached out to BOA right away! No one can tell me anything. Be mindful this was Friday 3/3/17. Today is 3/7/17 and my account is still saying -888,888.88 and although my funds may be available today the "fraud" may not be removed for another day or two so I may still be locked away from my money until 1-3 business days! Like really?

On top of the insult to injury I was also told my account would be closed and that they don't have to give me an explanation as to why they're closing my account. So despite the fact that I've been banking with them for about 3 years now and despite the fact that I have a car loan and a credit card with them they're making this decision to close my account. I'm in fear that a settlement that's almost 6 figures big may try to process through their bank in the middle of this madness. I've reached out to my lawyer gave them updated information to another bank I utilize in the hopes to catch it before the transfer attempt takes place but they're hurting me and my family at a very fragile time with no regard to us whatsoever.

I don't understand how they stay in business when they treat their customers this way. I'm mad I ever banked with them and am actually pissed I passed up Citi and Chase for them, I do have 3 other bank accounts to use but didn't. Bye BOA no love loss here! I just hope I can get my Tax return without an issue and I also hope the 2 pending deposits don't hit their bank before I can close this account 100%. As far as I can see they erased me like I never even banked with them. After reading other complaints I'm scared they're going to try to take my money and run.

I typically get paid every Monday. This particular week, my employer paid me on Friday so that I could pay a bill that was due. Anytime I go into my local branch to make a deposit, they always recommend using the ATM because it's faster, and it would save me time by not waiting in line. I started doing this, and haven't had an issue... until today.

Today, I deposited $400 cash in the ATM. The ATM would not accept one of the bills ($20 dollar bill) and returned it. After retrieving the 20, the machine then returned my card and ended the transaction but kept the other $380 of cash. It gave me no credit for the deposit. I immediately called Customer Assistance. I sat on hold for 10 minutes, and then the CSR had to transfer me to the fraud department. After sitting on hold for another 5 or so minutes, the next CSR got on the phone, and had to then transfer me to the ATM department. After sitting on hold for another several minutes, I got the on the phone with the correct CSR. I was then told that my claim would investigated, and that it would be resolved within 10 business days.

The CSR was able to see that there was a transaction malfunction in that particular machine. He was able to also see on my account that I deposit the exact same amount of money every week. I was told that the $380 could not be credited, and he literally said "I appreciate your concern and frustration, but sometimes this is just how it goes". Seriously... that's the response I get? If I spoke to my customers that way, I would be fired immediately.

They literally said their policy is in line with federal requirements that investigations are required to be resolved within 10 business days, and that crediting my account pending their investigation is not part of their policy. I asked for a supervisor, and he basically said they don't have to credit my account, therefore they won't/can't per their policy. Per my policy, I will not do business with any company that does not value their customers.

Once my hard earned money is returned to me, I am closing my accounts, and taking my business to a credit union. I realize that the pittance I earn and keep in their bank is not even a drop in the bucket of their overall business... but at least Credit Unions value hardworking middle class folks like me. I know a Credit Union will not offer all of the online luxuries that BoA can, but those luxuries are useless when they lose your money and do not care.

At some point, we as a populace have to start holding these large national banks accountable in the same way that we are individually. The Supervisor said all he could offer was an apology... to which I explained to him that "apologies" carried no currency value, but I would try to see if my debtor will accept "I'm sorry" as a substitution for currency.

If the transaction is still processing can the bank charge overdraft fee, since the customer made cash deposit into the account while the transaction is still processing?

I manage a small business and EVERY SINGLE TIME I get paid by a client, I am charged a $15 transfer fee. That's not all! I also get charged over $35 every single time I get paid by an international customer + the other $15 transfer fee. How is one supposed to make money when your bank is literally eating it all up. That's not all! If you get on BOA, expect to spend at least an hour and a half on hold on the phone with them if you ever want to get anything done.

That's not all! Automatic bill pay is not easy to set up -- it's how they get you and charge you those fees they do so love. You have to fill out a bunch of paperwork in order to set up automatic bill pay. If you're a digital type like me, you have to go in person to one of their horribly run branches to set this up. I can't tell you the amount of times I've made appointments far in advance only to be told I have to wait hours at their branches. When you do jump through all those hoops to set up automatic bill pay, don't expect it to work for another 5-6 months because, hey, we're all about the fees! PLEASE DON'T PUT YOUR MONEY WITH THIS BANK. It'll be the biggest mistake of your life.

Purchase Protect Via Credit Use- I purchased 12/23/2016 a cell phone 5S on eBay and it turned out to be defective. The battery inside was ready to blow up and we were instructed by Apple iPhone company to remove it ASAP. I contacted eBay seller trying to resolve to no avail. Tried going through eBay return no way because I removed the dangerous battery they say it is not in its original condition. PayPal same thing and Bank of America denied my dispute as well. I have been a long standing customer of Bank of America and since they were not willing to assist in this in any way I said to close my account.

They were heartless and uncaring. I tried to find a corporate number and they hide behind Customer Service number. Even the CEO Brian T. Moynihan's supposed number is the same Customer Service number. Their corporate filing uses the same number. To me they do not want to deal with the customers who make them what they are, Wealthy! I am not done I will tell everyone of my experience with them and will never have anything else to do with Bank of America or their affiliates, which some of us know who they are too.

Update: 1/27/17 I revisit eBay resolutions dept. and finally got them to understand the danger involved with the cell phone battery. They promptly refunded $120.50. So I thought I would try to appeal to BOA's conscience and spoke with several people and eventually elevated to a Joel who stated he would reinstate my card. He proceed to ask me for my financial income yearly and other personal questions. I asked you are not dipping in to my credit report are you? His answer was no. Joel stated it would take approximately 24 hours for it be active again.

On 1/31/17 I received a call from someone in the Collection Dept named I think Adel who was following up on my complaint with the BBB. He informed me that my account is closed permanently. He was going to see what he could do and get back to me. Today being the 2nd of February 2017 I tried calling various numbers till I finally reached someone named Doran not sure of spelling. Doran listen and forward me to Shea who forward me to Sear. Keep in mind that every person I spoke to I had to retell my story even though I asked the to inform the people that they were forwarding me to so I would not have to repeat myself.

So now Shea was unaware of why I was calling and again I told my story again. Now Shea basically tells me that there is nothing they can do. It would have to go to the Credit Department for approval and dip into my credit again! At this point I decided to forget it, it just is not worth dealing with a business who does not care about the customer who has made Bank of America who they are today. In the last 6 months I charged and paid off in full well over $10,000.00 and I am or was a great customer. These guys just don't care. Too Big to Fail sound familiar... or is it Too Big and don't Care. Concluding: Paid off the account early and am no longer interested in doing business with Bank of America or any affiliates under their umbrella.

My 17 year old was a victim of fraud on her Bank of America checking account. I am jointly on the account which was set up 2 years ago when she was 15. We received no notification of the fraudulent activity, but rather the account was closed and daughter's information was sent to Chex systems. I asked them if this was the normal process for fraud without doing any investigation and they said yes. I have filed a police report, as well as a report with the FTC. Because Bank of America has sent the account to Chex systems my daughter is unable to get another account with any bank. I am still in the process of trying to get this situation settled. Bank of America's customer service has been awful to say the least.

Now when I go to the bank, I'm in a line waiting with maybe 6 other people for at times up to 20 minutes or a half hour. We all complain to each other that this is a new phenomenon, that they've reduced the tellers down to only one. Bank of America execs are probably sunning themselves in the Caribbean, while we are in line so they can save a buck by not paying tellers. The manager told me they want us to use the ATM. Only I deposit cash and the ATM spits it out and apparently a small percentage of the time it actually takes my money and then chokes up so I have to spend a half day trying to call B of A. I'm changing to Chase.

I have this account with BOA since about 2011, it's no monthly maintenance fee when I opened this account. As I remembered, I had never been charged monthly maintenance fee on this account until Oct. 2016. I met with BOA associate and discussed to close some of my BOA accounts in their branch in Vienna, VA about June 2016. The BOA associate mentioned these accounts were old product in BOA, without monthly maintenance fee. Most of the new product charged monthly maintenance fee. So I canceled to close the account.

I had not received letter or notice from BOA that they would start to charge monthly maintenance fee for this type of account either. Otherwise, I will definitely chose to close the account or convert it to other type of account or keep the balance or set up direct deposit etc to avoid the monthly maintenance fee. I set up a direct deposit for this account in Nov 2016 before I knew this reason.

Therefore, it's very unreasonable that BOA changed the account policy without notification customer and started to charge customer the monthly maintenance fee. I have account with CITI, PNC, Capital360 etc. Bank, had not met these type of issues so far. Obviously BOA keeps using these tricky way to get money from customer, just like stealing money from customer's pocket. I believed that's one of the reason why BOA was rated as the worst business in US. BOA should stop using these ways to get money from customer. I called BOA many times in order to resolve the issues but never reached. I strongly request BOA to refund these unreasonable charge asap.

Mobile deposited check into my account. BOA, did a standard 2 days hold. Gave me the 1st $200. I'm like ok. Then 2 days later, the day the hold is to be released and my large deposit made available to me. BOA, placed a new hold on the check, removed the $200 from my account and never notified me about any of this. I tried to make a purchase and was declined. Call BOA, they advised me that their system indicated that the check I deposited was going to bounce. Funny thing is, I wrote the check from my other bank. Guess what, it didn't bounce and cleared the account. BOA, doesn't care. They refused to remove the 9 day hold from my account. Needless to say, I will be closing my account and using my Credit Union. I hate you BOA! Rot in hell... Seriously.

Directed by the state of NJ to switch to Bank of America. I got a 4 year card that I didn't keep in my wallet. When I got the next 4 year card I kept it in my wallet. A year later it wouldn't scan in the machine possibly because the card was scratched. This happened at the Westwood NJ branch with all 3 of the machines. They gave me a new card in the mail and no one at the Westwood branch would help me.

The machine at the Hillsdale NJ branch seemed to be more durable at reading card that were scratched. I've tried to get e-banking this month again. No one would help me at the Westwood branch when they were open which was another issue with their poor hour and my job. Now I'm have hard time trying to get e-banking online. I'm switching banks as soon as can. I also have headaches from Bank of America.

My husband was dying of cancer and he pushed himself to be sure he got ten years in teamsters so I would have a pension. Well the pension is only $38.00 a month and it's direct deposit into Bank of America account him and I started in 1991. He passed away and the pension had been going into that account then about five or more years ago Bank of America just started charging $12 a month on the account because balance too low I never changed the account. They just started charging this so they now take $12 every month out of the $38.00 pension. I have tried to find out where the pension comes from to change it to another bank but they have refused to cooperate so they are monthly just taking $12. They are rip off and hopefully someday something will be done about them.

I just opened a savings & checking account in the beginning of December 2016. I made at least 3-4 deposits since and upon trying to make another deposit on Friday 1/20/17 at the atm, I'm being prompted that my account cannot be found. After several unsuccessful attempts, I went to check my online account and cannot log-in. I call customer service and was told that they made a business decision without explanation to close my account. No warning, no notice, just up and closed my account. This is horrible business and another reason popular trust in the banking system is fallen. I will never give my money to this bank ever again and I hope everyone moves their money out to a bank that has better practices.

I have been with BOA for almost 10 years. In the last few years, things were going well until I struggle financially. Things got better. I was able to manage my accounts better and continue using the e-bill system. Last year, I noticed that I started accumulating a lot of overdrafts. I thought that I needed to go back to controlling my finances better. This month, I starting taking pictures of the e-bills I was sending out because I noticed that e-bills were not getting posted when I requested them to be posted on my account. As a result, after taking pictures, creating an spreadsheet, etc. that some of the e-bills were not getting withdraw from my account as scheduled.

I call the e-billing department to investigate few of these e-bills. The response was that those bills were drafted and they were taking out of the account when the recipient cash the checks. I explained to the representative, that I have been using e-bills for the longest time and I always got the e-bill drafted on the day I schedule them. I was told that because of my previous history, that was not an option anymore. As a result, a check I sent on 01/02/2017, was withdrawn on the 25th (apparently when the other institution cashed the check) but what was interested is that it got cashed on the only day I did not have sufficient funds (23 days after I scheduled the payment). I went back again and I noticed the trend. Bills sent out but not cashed as scheduled.

This is an unfair practice. If I would have not had a financial difficulty in the past, I would have been able to continue using the advantages of what an e-bill payment truly is (send the payment and get it deducted on the day scheduled); instead, I send the payments and it get posted randomly (like the old days of paying bills). Because I lost trust, I closed my BOA account after more than 10 years of being customer.

I have been with BofA for several years now and I absolutely hate them. They always charge either a maintenance fee of $12 or overdraft fee of $35. This is absurd! What bank does that?! Oh wait, BofA does. When I was a full time student I had no income and so my bank account would go lower. Now that I'm working, I don't even want my money being put in this bank account cause they would find every possible way to take it. This is **. I'm going to take the remaining money left in my account out and closing this account. I hate BofA for taking my money for stupid fees. DONT USE BOFA.

I joined this bank in November or so. My boyfriend was depositing money via one of the ATMS and the atm malfunctioned. He reported it and told me it was $608 dollars. They placed a claim and only refunded $308 dollars. Spoke with them about that and they said I would have to set up ANOTHER claim. Second screw up was when someone stole my debit card information and used it at an ATM three times back to back. There was also charges for ATM fees for looking at the balance. This all happened at an ATM at a casino I've never been to. I placed a claim for it. It was denied because they did not use the card again. I would say they didn't because after checking the balance and noticing the card was locked AND there was no money left in the account, what would be the purpose of trying to get more money out? Bank still denied the claim. Closing account asap. Reps at every Bank of America I've been to are rude anyway.
