On occasion I would receive a small miscellaneous check for less than 100.00. Because the checks were drawn on BOA I didn't think there would be a problem cashing them at the bank... but because I no longer had an account with BOA, they charged me a penalty for cashing the check. My husband and I are seniors, living on a fixed income, and cash flow can be a real problem for us at times. When we would receive one of these small checks, it was thankfully welcomed, but it just seemed that if BOA wanted to establish some goodwill to us, charging us a check cashing fee was the wrong way to do it.

Sorry no business. Let alone a bank can be perfect. B of A has served me well over the past years. I have had to move to other banks when I moved to an area without a B of A. For the last 26 years, I had the same account until they decided to charge me a fee to continue to use that account. They moved me to a different type of account where I need to maintain a balance in both my checking and savings accounts.

I have been a BOA customer for over 20+ years. A few years ago, I had some debit card fraud on my account. I immediately contacted BOA. They assured me that they wouldn't let any more $$$ leave my account without my permission. They did not! I lost $8000. Today, I saw that once again another $1000 was being withdrawn without my permission. I immediately contacted them. I was transferred from person to person and eventually placed on hold for 31 minutes. This is ridiculous. I asked them to "freeze" my account. They did not. I asked them to issue a cashiers check for the full amount of my account. They would not. I asked for cash if they couldn't give me a check. They wouldn't. I refuse to be held hostage by this horrible company. I am now seeking legal recourse and trying to get as far away from this disreputable company as possible. Run. Don't walk away from these crooks!

Now they have 1 or 2 teller... long lines and stupid rules. They make you give your ID to make a deposit. I am there every single day since I have a business account. The teller forgot to give me back my license. I went back to make a deposit next day, I said, "You forgot to give me back my license." She said, "We aren't allowed to keep them so we discard them." Really Bank of America! You are unbelievable. I can't wait until my busy season is over so I can get the hell out of you crappy serviced bank! 2 tellers for 20 people in line is UNACCEPTABLE. Commercial accounts have to make deposits everyday and you make it PAINFUL!!!

First off I like to say I only got BOA because I was 18, got my first job and the job offered direct deposit and Boa was the only bank within 1 hour. They process things much slower than most banks. Coworkers with other banks consistently got their direct deposit faster. And they always had holds on my deposits. So I stopped using the card. I left it with 0.03 in the account.
I lost my debit card, so I went into a branch to have it replaced. Me and the lady I met with talked for about 20 min. She saw the amount in my bank account even suggested I start a savings account but never said anything about there being a $5.00 charge to replace the card. Thus my account went into the negative. Which of course led to an overdraft fee. Lastly I used my BOA account to direct deposit my tax refund. The IRS sent it to BOA Feb 14th. It's the 20th and my account is still in the negative. Where is my money BOA? Why does it take 3+ business days to process a direct deposit. I can't wait till I get my money so I can withdraw every cent and close my accounts.

A transaction was made from Bank of America account to another financial institution charge card payment. Payment showed posted from account, yet was being held from being paid still 13 days later. Efforts were made to correct this, transaction was redone by way of three way call between banks and us, 9 days later still not cleared. We've gone to bank, B of A says, "Oh wait, it'll cleared." While we're there an older couple complained of 2 checks posting but not cleared yet 12 days later for medical services they're responsible for. My assumption is that what Bank of America is doing is criminal, holding money somewhere while they gain interest and customers credit is jeopardized. DO NOT USE BANK OF AMERICA... EVER.

Have dealt with Bank of America for many years as a credit card customer and was always treated well. Even financed a new vehicle in the past, the loan processing was lightning fast and the interest rate was better than any dealer could offer. (Of course, it does help things if you have a good credit rating.) If I ever decide to buy another new vehicle, they will definitely be my first choice.

First, my wife had a trust account for our great niece originally opened in a bank that was subsequently bought by BoA. For some reason we had our bank book updated, and we were shocked to see a $4.25 monthly service fee that was depleting the account. When we complained to the branch manager, the fees were removed. Not too long after, we closed the account and gave the money to the trustee.
Second, I had an HSA account though my employer. When I retired, BoA started to charge a $4.25/mo. service fee because I am no longer adding money to the account. When I called BoA to complain about the fee, they said they could do nothing about it. So I asked to close the account. They said there would be a $25.00 fee to close the account. When I asked for a manager to complain about the $25.00 fee, the person on the phone said that it wouldn't do any good. I closed the account anyway. My wife & I will never do business with Bank of America again.

$300 in Fees! - We were making automatic payments and were never notified about paying a monthly amount less than the monthly payment. Why BofA sends all this advertisement for balance transfer and such and is not able to alert consumers that they are being rip off by their fees?

This organization accelerated and sold our student loan after the student was placed on active duty military orders, this occurred during the time BOA was also accelerating mortgages. They were subsequently investigated by the DOJ and fined. It is however regrettable they were not forced to reinstate the loans they had accelerated before their maturity dates.

I switched from chase to Bank Of America because a branch was closer to my workplace. Immediately I could experience the difference. Paychecks are put on hold for unreasonable time. I asked the bank teller and they said give it some time and as the history of the account is more than 90 days services get better. No, it never did. On top customer care people is extremely rude and don't try to help. Instead like a machine they keep repeating the same thing over and over. I asked to make some fund available as my other banks use to which I think is pretty standard but the guys are uninformed and just tell me what app tells me. There was unexplained deduction of $200 and the customer care just straight up told me it's the way it is. I have never had such bad experience with any bank service.

At least we received no notification. That is just not right. It's like their customers are not important to them.

About a month ago my card was cloned and they got away with $302.95. It was the bank who alerted me about the suspicious activity in the first place, and there were multiple attempts to withdrawal $302 from my account. The criminals only got away with one charge, and the bank issued a temp. credit to my account. Now The investigation department for the claims and fraud department decided that they were going to reverse the money that was stolen from me, and hold it today, again. So this is 2 times my own money was stolen from me. Once from the criminals, and now from the bank. Now I have bills coming out. And overdraft charges. And they want to still investigate and not give me a credit back.
I will be closing my account. I did my own research in contacted the ATM company and found out there were multiple cards that were cloned used at the same time at 3 in the morning, as well as my card. That atm isn't even being serviced by that atm company anymore, and the bank could not even tell me if it was a.m. or p.m. The bank's reasoning for denying my claim in the first place of fraud was that a pin was used and there was no compromised pin use... well let me tell you I have no idea how these clone cards work with your secure chip debit card but it wasn't me. But that is their bases on denying my claim.

Predatory lending practices are the first thing to notice about this bank. Mortgage lenders are deceptive, fraudulent to the core. On the banking side, they would get you to keep opening accounts and then keep telling that since you have too little on account(s), you need to pay maintenance fees. I am sure one of the days they will get caught - just that the scale they have been deceiving people is amazing to me.

They have no problem or concern if they have a line out the door and only one or two tellers. I have had this account for over 30 years. It's been converted to various types of checking accounts with new and different requirements. Recently in October 2017 I received a notice that my checking account would be converted to a different type of account. No changes to the account number but there will be monthly charges with restrictions. I would have to either maintain a minimum $1500 balance to avoid monthly charges or have a direct deposit of at least $250 per month from Social Security or payroll or some other method. This conversion/change takes place in January 2018.
BofA is a large commercial bank and although I have had the account for so many years it has been convenient for me since I travel and I seem to be able to find a BofA branch most places. The convenience keeps me with this bank but there's really no other reason for me to maintain the account. They do offer at the first of the month a series of museums I can visit for free. I guess, that's a nice perk but I can't think of any other applicable benefit that's offered by the bank.

Recently I reported a potential fraud from a suspicious email and they took almost 20 minutes to connect me with a live person and I don't feel that was reasonable (5 minutes is reasonable). On January 5th I filed a check fraud claim. Somebody used "draw check" to steal $558 from my business account. There was a Micky ** name on the check, nothing to do with my company or myself, but BofA still processed it. As an operator explained to me, the system looks only at the account number (!), nothing else, and then your money leaves your account. "Oh, somebody knows your account number!" This is a pretty scary situation because an account number is written on every check that I sign to pay for anything. If I sign 4 checks a day, then theoretically, 4 people a day know my account number and can commit fraud. So, BofA does not have a good system in place to protect their clients from this basic fraud. Why do they offer this "draw check" option in the first place? They offered me to freeze this compromised account and opened a new account so that I can continue with my rental business.
They explained that the rent payments that I collect every month will be able to enter the account but not leave it. After the deposit is done to an old account a manager would manually transfer funds to a new account. In reality, something different happened. BofA had frozen deposits from my tenants to BOTH accounts - old and new - from 7 t0 10 days. I tried everything - called check fraud department and went to the branch office. Nobody was able to remove the holds. Now it is already almost a month since BofA started "investigation" on the fraud. Only today they gave me a credit $558 for the stolen money, but still, they are not sure if the fraud actually happened (!!?). Because of this, I missed car lease payment and a mortgage payment. I am facing now $700 late payment fee and a reduced credit score. Who knows a lawyer who can help me to sue BofA?

Do you know what this bank is good at? Making profits out of overdraft fees! Here is a good example, Planet Fitness decided to withdraw an annual fee, ok before I went to bed on a Thursday night my balance was not on negative. It was good with a few dollars on there, now at 2 am I always get direct deposit, when I wake up I get 2 overcharge fees for insufficient funds of $35. From 12 midnight to 2 am when I was able to cover any negative funds. In that 2 hour period they decided to charge me with insufficient funds.
Chase gives you 24 hours to cover your overdrafts even other banks, and these rip offs don't, be aware if for one mistake you don't have enough funds they will chew you up! And as far as customer service they clearly don't care about you at all. They think they are so good and powerful for their own customers that don't mind losing them, you will not be put of any priority to them at all, this was my first overcharge fees after being with them almost 3 years and never had a few, but will be my last, people. I made a big mistake not reading reviews about this bank, do yourself a favor and pay attention to all negative reviews from this bank!

It is 5:55 pm EST and I have been on the phone with a Bank of America representative for ~1.5 hours about an overdraft fee. They tried to explain away how my account came to be in the negative ~$13.00 after the mobile app showed that I had covered all negative items. They came up with several scenarios to explain away the email alert I got at 5 am in the morning that my balance was low. One scenario was that a payment of ~$1,500, which showed as posted/deducted before 8 am on the mobile app, really didn't post until later that day which was why I was negative. It was held in limbo, allowing other transactions to come out, and then posted on "their end" later, thereby putting me in the negative. The manager then said that BOA's "policy" is to post debit transactions before any ACH transactions. I asked for the disclosure that says this (which she said they had).
Upon reading it (with her on the phone with me) I didn't state this at all... what it says is "We may pay and authorize some items, and decline or return others, in any order we deem appropriate". Long story short, she finally admitted that what they "deem appropriate" is what makes them money and/or charges you a fee... it is not appropriate (to them) for them to post transactions in a manner that protects the customer. I can't say that I am surprised that this is how they work internally, but I am surprised that they actually admitted that the customer is preyed upon (in a sense) so that they can make extra money... shameful... lawsuit maybe??

Worst banking experience I ever had. I switched over to them because their checking account was free and that's when it all went bad. They told me they'd only put a hold on my first check then after that it would be an immediate deposit. Well that didn't happen. I deposited my second check and they put a hold on that one also so I bounced checks. Will they reimburse me the fees that they charge me. Now since I bounced check paying my lot rent I can never write a check for my lot rent again. I have to get money orders from now on which is totally wrong. I think someone should at least get a warning first but the point is it cost me $100 in fees for bounced and check and now I can't pay my lot rent with a check anymore.

I am banking at this bank as of now until a check from my stepmother clears. I deposited 1000.00 in the bank yesterday and was told it would be available today. The teller even asked me if I would like any cash back. I told her no. I would wait for today because I was very ill, and returning home from the hospital. This morning I went online and my funds were there and looked available as always in the past. I paid 2 bills online, and about a hour later, I went back to look at the app for my phone information. My account said I was overdrawn with a balance of -53 dollars.
The bank refused to just call the bank the check was written on and says I may have to pay the overdraft fees. They told me it doesn't matter, I have to wait the full 7 days. I have no family here. I have a mammogram scheduled tomorrow with no gas in my car. I looked online and a website said that usually they will call the bank the check is written on. That while its understandable, most banks do this because they believe the check will not clear. I am totally in disbelief that after the teller told me the funds would be available and they showed online, that they would take it back after it posted in my account. This money was for my bills and needs. As soon as this check does clear, I will be withdrawing it all, or whatever I have left after the overdraw fees.
Updated on 02/02/2018: Bank of America held a check that my stepmother sent me while I was very ill. The check cleared my stepmother's bank 800 miles away, in less than 24 hours, however BoA held it for 7 business days and I was not even told about the hold when it happened. It was in my available balance first, and I paid a few bills before they pulled it for a hold. Then when they finally decided I could have MY money, they refused to process the payments I made for my now late bills, I had to call people I held accounts with and reschedule payment dates. I had no idea how fraudulent a bank could be toward a consumer until I met the people who work at Bank of America. There should be a law preventing them to cause this much discontent and rule over another's life.

It is my experience that Bank of America takes my bi-monthly deposits. Hold them every month since I opened the account for 4-10 days each check. Most often 10 days! The automatic payments for my bills go through for money that has been deposited by me but is then rejected because Bank of America has a hold on your deposits! Then not only do I have no access to money for day to day living I am constantly getting late fees from utilities, mortgage, phone, etc AND return item fees $35 per transaction from Bank of America when NONE of these charges or extensive holds should be occurring. Especially since one of my checks is from the Friend of the Court and the other a business. Both checks each month are the same dollar amount and from the same person/Place. This has been going on since I opened the account and it's beyond ridiculous!
Instead of being able to pay my bills with the money I deposit Bank of America is drawing extra interest and holding funds preventing me from paying bills AND causing me more debt. I regret ever opening an account at Bank of America and I advise anyone and everyone to avoid Bank of America! They are greedy, holding people's money or super incompetent. How long does it take to push a button or call and verify funds if need be? I seriously doubt 10 Days! Oh and the best part!!! Per my child support which is from the friend of the court I was told if I brought in proof of my divorce decree it would be scanned into my file preventing the problem from existing again. LIARS! I did what I was told and the 10 day wait was reduced to 4 days in December and then here we are in January and the funds are on a 10 day hold!
So while I have no funds, my bills are being held or rejected due to Bank of America not posting money. They are growing interest and taking on fees for rejections that they themselves caused! I keep thinking how many elderly people on fixed incomes are they doing this to? How many hardworking individuals, single parents, etc... How many people are going without food or medication, phones, health insurance, auto insurance, utilities because of Bank of America's policies? And if you call...every month the person says, "Let me check on this..." About 4 minutes later (every time!) the person comes back on the line and says "I'm sorry but I cannot do anything. The funds will be available on the date and time listed for availability" then if you ask to speak to a supervisor they say the same thing.
Not only do they hold people's money what seems like hostage they have what seems to be a protocol to avoid actually verifying and posting funds. They just seem like burglars-where is the paperwork-and then never actually help anyone! Avoid Bank of America!!! Save your money! Save your lives, your homes, keep your utilities on! Stay away from Bank of America!!!

Due to a policy I don't understand the need for, Bank of America put a hold on $1000 of my paycheck that was deposited on 12/27/2017. This left me with very little money to pay bills with at the first of the year, but I got by. While annoying, I understand this is a common policy for banks. They took the full amount out of the account it was drawn from the same day I deposited it (yes, I'm sure... I can view that account), so they were effectively holding $1000 of my money hostage for the past two weeks. (Today being 01/10/2018). This morning they finally released the bulk of my money back into my account... minus a $35 "overdraft" fee that they charged me on the SAME DAY they finally released my money to me.
I authorized the payments to draft (a week late, thanks BoA!) last night with the understanding that they would finally give me access to the money they were holding hostage, and they considered the approximately ten hours before they "released the funds" to be worthy of charging me $35 for an overdraft that never /actually/ occurred. I sought redress of this, assuming it was SURELY an error on their part and they would simply refund the fee, since their policy had caused enough grief and difficulty in my life as it was. So I called their helpline and was told that they could not reverse the charge because they only reversed charges for "banking errors". To me, this seemed like it WAS a banking error, if ever one existed; so I went into a branch office, thinking perhaps I just needed to more fully explain the issue I took with their actions in person.
I got nowhere with them, as they parroted what the helpline had told me, so I closed my account today, $35 poorer for having done business with them for the past 6 years. I'll tell you what I told the banking associate "helping" me at Bank of America. I'm taking (took) my money somewhere that actually respects their customers. That somewhere is NOT Bank of America. I wouldn't wish their atrocious behavior on my worst enemy. It also bears noting that they instituted a monthly fee on my account without warning me it would happen, and increased it twice during the six years I was there. Also a bit disrespectful to their customers, in my opinion.

They've always taken care of it and apologized. There was one time that I didn't notice it for a few months and it was a hassle getting them all refunded. Just the other day I was charged a maintenance fee and, as I always seem to have to do, called to get it rectified. I was told that they changed my account terms and I now had a monthly maintenance fee. I was told that I was informed on my monthly statement.
I do not get monthly paper statements or even statements via email. I was told that I have to log into my BOA account and download a statement. They did not offer to remove the tiny fee and I closed this account and will be closing my checking and CC account as soon as I change all my information for paying bills to my Charles Schwab Checking account. It's 2018. I see no reason to look at a bank statement, and I find it hard to believe that many people under 40 do. I personally connect all my accounts to accounting software and keep track of all my finance through that. Even people who don't do that, have real-time access to their bank accounts online and through mobile apps 24/7. I opened a checking and savings account with Bank of America when I got a job requiring direct deposit in 2007. The company I worked for, HRL Technologies, had a great relationship with the bank and I got "free everything" checking & savings for opening the accounts. Everything seemed great. Actually, I still have a checking account with the bank now. Some years went by and, for some reason, BOA started charging me a lot of money for my savings account. They forgot to notify me. They did notify me that my savings account was overdrawn. Not by me but their fees. I called and they were nice enough to close the account immediately and forgave any fees. I was definitely upset that I had lost my meager savings, but I realized that I had not been attentive to the account. Certainly I didn't know they were charging me for having the account with them so I had not paid attention. That was 2009.
Then, last year in March of 2017 I received a check as a refund for income taxes paid to the State of Ohio. The MICR code did not work with the online banking and there is no branch of BOA within a hundred miles or so. After speaking with a very nice and helpful person on the phone I sent the check in to a special post office box for deposit in my account. A month went by and I had no deposit in my account. I called the State of Ohio and they said the check had been cashed. I called BOA and they could not find it. After a few different calls I finally got someone in collections rudely yelling at me. They said they had opened my old account for collections and used the check to clear up the old debts. I find this activity outrageous! As a bank with a fiduciary responsibility to me I feel that they have stolen my money. Not just once but twice. And, this time they were not nice to me and would not listen to me about what happened.
They felt completely justified to steal even more of my money. I have not received any accounting or any other notice of this "transaction" so I feel completely justified to use the word "stealing". My last conversation with the collections agent was in April of 2017. I have a current checking account with the bank. They have my address and phone number. They send me statement every month. When the old account was closed I do think I received a notice that it was closed. I have never received any notice that I owed them money after the account was closed and, in fact, it was by agreement that none was due. The collections agent said it was their prerogative to reopen the account and collect the fees "due". I disagree. I am now out $240 for "overdraft" fees on a checking account that amounted to about $25 at the time. And, the fees were put on my account without notice at the time.
I asked for a complete listing of transactions to and from that account so I could review and remember the situation clearly. After 8 months, I am tired of waiting. If I were a new customer and lived close to a branch, I would carefully do a review of the people that work there. My experience had always been very good until this experience. I have had other issues and they were always able to work them out to my satisfaction working face to face. I thought I had this one worked out but met a person from collections while I was depositing a check that seemed like their last job was in the prison system. They treated me like a criminal while I was depositing a check! And kept all of the money! Guess who I think is a criminal?

When I called customer service, they said they are doing this for my protection and they said they do this to everyone but when I pushed they said they do it to many account holders. I think they are scamming us to get the float interest while they are reviewing the transaction. It might not add up too much for one account but over hundreds of thousands accounts it is a lot. This is just crazy and the interest they pay is next to nothing anyways. I have been a BoA account holder for 20 years but I am cancelling my account. I was recommended to freeze my account and shut it down. Actually, it was recommended for me to go to a branch and open a new account
I don't understand why it take so long for a customer to get to talk to the Customer Service department in the first place. That alone is enough reason for me to close my account. But... there's more. I was told I was going to have to wait 10 days maximum for the money to be refunded to me after the investigation is completed and obviously if the fraud was recognized by the same department. Needless to say I got nothing to worry in that matter, but, wait for 10 days? With some luck and frustration, I got the phone number of the Fraud Department Manager, so I could call him the next day directly to see how far was my case under the investigation.
I called several times and got to talk to him. After waiting for about 40 minutes, he finally came to tell me that there's a temporary release of my money, but, the investigation still goes on, most likely it will be on my favor. I'm ok with that. But then, when I got home and checked my account, I see that my rent payment check that was already going through has been credited back to me, which means, they are not fulfilling the payment of my rent check despite of me having the money on my account. This is going to generate so much trouble and headache for me. I'll try to talk to the people in the office and explain the situation, but, I doubt they will be willing to wave away the possible late fees coming my way because of this whole mess caused by a bank that in my opinion, needs a better Security System.
Anyway I tried to call the bank tonight, trying to get my rent check to be paid and not returned and after a little interview with one of the employees, after several questions asked and answered, he placed me on hold and I got disconnected. You know, it has been happening a lot with BofA. I remember it wasn't like that in the past, now, it's a nightmare. If you need Customer Service, good luck! I already have an appointment for Saturday early morning to see what can or can't be done on my favor and honestly, I'm done, this is it.

Once I saw that my acct. was in a negative balance I transferred money from a different acct the very same day to bring the acct to a positive balance. The very next day I look at my acct and BOA has charged me 35 bucks. This is wrong. I asked her if this could be overrided and she states that she will send a request and it should reflect in 2~3 hours. 2~3 hours later the charges were not removed. I feel she told me this to get me off the phone.
I called back the very next day and the young lady (I forgot her name) states that her manager will review the call from the previous day and call back. I explained to her to not bother calling if a resolution is not going to be made. I have had overdraft fees in the past and never once will I call BOA if I know I am in the wrong. It is ludicrous that BOFA does not have a way for its customers to set up recurring payments from a BOFA account directly into another BOFA account. I would like to set up an automatic monthly transfer of $x from my account into the account of my child. This is way more convenient to me because I do not have to remember to set up a transfer every single month, and it is way more convenient for my kid because he does not have to do anything (like cashing a check) and can count on getting the money on the exact same day every month. I know that you can set up a recurring payment on BillPay, but this means that they send him a check, which he then has to deposit and wait for it to clear. That is inconvenient. I am shocked that in this day and age, BOFA is choosing not to provide this option to its customers.

I made an appointment, as suggested, got there a couple of minutes early, stood in the lobby for 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. I was told he would be right with me as he had another customer. 45 minutes later, still shooting the breeze with his "'customer." Oh and he went outside with someone so he could see a car for 10 minutes while I and his customer waited on him. I walked out and am now on an "extended hold time" with BofA. Never again. I had took advantage of two zero percent checks for periods of 9 months and 12 months during the same year. Paying on what I thought was one account, to keep it current, B of A applied the payment to the first account, causing my second account to generate an interest charge. Discussion with an mgr. named Adrian Jan. 3, 2018, who was courteous, was a total waste of time. B of A is running a game of "hide the ball" by failing to properly disclose how minimum payments are applied. My advice, stop dealing with B of A, or if you must, take one only one interest-free check per year for the max for which you qualify and then pay it off before interest charges accrue.

Complaint: Shawn ** customer service manager & Steven** West Virginia call center. I told them that there was a misunderstanding about a stop payment. Yesterday I called in to get advice on how I should proceed with an automatic payment that I wanted canceled. My understanding is if I have automatic payment arrangements in place with a company I can request for that merchant not to auto debit my account for free.
I proceeded to tell the B of A rep, my situation. I wanted to see what could be done. The rep told me that I needed to put a stop payment on the merchant and that usually the bank needed a 3 day notice. But that I could place the stop payment on the merchant for $30 and that I would only be billed if the bank was able to stop the payment. The next day the payment processed for the merchant along with 2 stop payment fees. I explained to both Shawn ** the customer service manager, he told me the fees were correct and nothing could be done. Steven only reversed one.

Every time I go to a branch there is a long line of 8 - 25 people. I am told BOA wants consumers to use the ATM, so they are hiring less tellers. There are 4 useless greeters and one teller creating long lines for customers. They have renovated their branches making the customer areas extremely small and printed new signs that are completely in Spanish (in non-minority areas). BOA has spent my money needlessly on useless changes that do NOT have the best interest of the majority of their customers in mind. I call and I am told the wait on the phone is 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
BOA has begun to nickel and dime me with misc. fees that do not apply. I have to call monthly to have the fees removed. I had an escrow account that required two signatures. They allowed my ex to make his car payments and write checks without the second signature. I had to go to court to get the money returned to me due to BOA's errors!! I think that BOA has become so large that they are clearly out of touch with their actual customers who have money in the bank. They are so greedy they do not care if they lose customers.

Incredibly disappointed with BofA's inability to help me with a fee they charged. Mike in Montana could have helped, but chose not to (he was actually quite rude and condescending). I had a transaction that took place on the 19th of December. I checked my account and had plenty of funding to complete the transaction. Two days later, I had two very sick children that needed to go to the doctor and needed medication before Christmas. As a single mom, I was out of funds and knew that I would be charged a fee to do this.
I took the hit and took my kids to the doctor. I'm not arguing the validity of the fee for taking out money for the doctor...BUT...the bank charged me a second fee for the transaction that was done two days before that, which they waited to clear even though there was a paper trail that it had taken place earlier with funds in my account. I really am frustrated at this unnecessary action, especially since I have been banking with you for YEARS.

They are thieves and will not consider banking with them again, I wish there was a way to rate them zero because after 8 years to treat me like this is unacceptable. I received a call from Matthew ** of the Risk Management Dept of BofA, and I called back and left a message, then I received an email a day later that my account was canceled immediately effective 12/4/17. I then tried calling Matthew everyday for 4 days in a row and stated the urgency of my call.
However, I did not receive a call back and finally contact my branch where I sat for 2 hours to work this out. Bottom line, BofA tells me that since I am a travel agent they cannot process my customer's credit cards. BofA is inefficient, uncaring and not businesslike, they are quick to charge fees and ding customers for every little item, but not responsive to a loyal customer who has had a clean record with NO chargebacks and returned items. I told the guy I did not have an Apple product, he had told me that he would do the survey on his Mac and that Apple would deposit the $500 into my Bank of America account but that it absolutely had to be a Bank of America account. So he had me go open up a Bank of America account and give him the information, it felt really sketchy and suspicious but I was a single mom with a disability and could not work getting ready to be evicted and I was desperate for money so unfortunately I took the risk and gave him the bank information.
As soon as I gave him the bank information he quit answering my messages, he was trying to cash a fake check (they did not even have my name or signature written ANYWHERE on it) from my account and it was returned but somehow I owed the bank 400 something dollars. I tried to file a fraud claim because he had asked me for the information under false pretenses and Bank of America denied the fraud claim because I willingly gave him the information even though he didn't use it for the intended reason. This is the second time in a month they bounced my checks. I never saw they were processing. And I don't keep large amounts of money In my account for a reason so when the check shows I put the money in. I had no problem with Wells Fargo or TCF but this bank purposely processes checks without your knowledge of them going through and by the time you see it they already bounced it. I already hate this bank. And when I talked to the manager she said, "I'm sorry even with the money in there it may not go through." It was a business decision. What??? What business decision. I didn't ask them to pay it. The money was in there to pay it so wtf is the problem.
I told them, "Your sorrys won't fix my landlord being pissed." I told them the check had to go through. I got, "No problem it will. No problem." Call next day of "They should have told you it's not a guarantee." Listen this was a big deal to me they needed to pay that. There is no excuse in the world they bounced it. So now for the second time this month I bounced a check with my landlord. Thanks Bank of America even with the money bring in there they bounced it. So the scam is they process checks without you serib them and by the time you see it they already bounced it. How ** up is that.
I'm in a bad time right now and didn't need this **. And I'm reading about them bouncing checks for the hell of it. I hope hiding transactions is illegal and they get busted with it. Nothing but **. And got told two times, "The check is fine. Will go through." False hope. They knew it was gonna bounce **. This is the 2nd time banking with them they used to leave the bank negative all day til 5-6 so you can cover the account. I guess being sneaky and criminal is better than being honest and for the customers.

Well I open my account this year in July and I had a fraud check somebody sent me and ever since then it's been trouble with Bank of America. Just beginning of this month in November 3rd I got my financial aid and in July there was supposed to close that account but before I got my financial aid I called ahead of time just to make sure they would not take my financial aid money. Come to find out they took $495 the next day. They credit me and that counts after I talk to 50 million people and had to explain myself over and over and over then the next day after that they took $420. The account was supposed to be closed in July. Well I'm the 8th I talked to a fraud account dude and he credit my $420 back plus my other two that I was fraud and then come to find out the next same day they took the $420 out. I noticed it was activity on my account today and I looked and I noticed that they took that $420 back.
I have talked to 678 different people. Have no clue what the hell is going on so I had to repeat myself and I don't like to be listening to the same crap that I've been listening to already. I get emails and my financial aid wasn't deposited on the 6th. It was deposited on the 4th. They don't have the right statements. They change their statements and they only put whatever they want to put on there. I do not like Bank of America. She proceeded to ask security questions for month of birth for people I had never heard of. She asked for previous addresses where I lived and I verified 2 of them. She didn't ask for my DOB, my mother's maiden name, etc. She then told me that I had to go to a BofA Branch to just cancel a dispute that I had placed on my account. I was reimbursed by the Merchant and wanted to cancel the dispute. She said I could cancel the dispute online and I told her that I had exhausted my efforts to find a way to cancel it online. She then couldn't tell me how to find the "way" to cancel it online.

By the time the one normal employee I got figured out what to do, the department I needed closed. Some fool said he was transferring me to the ACH Dept., but he sent me to the ATM Dept. When I call the customer service line nobody can help me. I'm always told I have to go into a branch. I deposit my paycheck from my job. First time no problem. Second time they tell me the funds won't be available to me until almost a week later because they have to verify even though I deposited the same check two weeks prior. This bank is the absolute worst. If you already have a bank somewhere else and thinking about joining Bank of America don't do it, it would be nothing but headaches.

She gave my money, the balance. I went to check my October BOA credit card and noticed my checking account to my disbelief was charged $25 fee anyway. Called BOA (Derrick/Agent) 10/16/17 and said he would refund the $25 but I would have to go to the bank in person if it happened again. I went in person and told the teller that I wanted my account closed and she sent me to a room to wait. I did so for 12 minutes and emphatically told the teller to close my account and left (my wife was waiting in the car). I checked 11/26 and another $25 charge for a total of -$50 on the checking account that should not exist, died July 31. Please help. I opened up Merrill Edge account as a joint account with my wife on 04/2017 and transfer my asset that is enough for Platinum honor tier and I opened up Bank of America checking account on 10/2017 as a joint account with my wife to meet preferred member requirement. Preferred rewards requires 3-month average balance over Bank of America or Merrill Edge account. It also requires Bank of America checking account. My wife and I met all of the requirement and I got Platinum Honors tier same day of opening checking account. But, my wife cannot. We called Merrill Edge and found out my wife has two different profiles and they need to be merged. And it will be handled 2-5 business days. After that she can see linked Merrill Edge account when she log in Bank of America site. But, Platinum Honors tier is not granted automatically.
So, we called several times and visited local branch two times. Whenever I contact them they set the due date, but nothing happens. When I last visit local branch on 11/10/2017, they promised it will be done by 11/14/2017 and will gave us a follow-up call. But, nothing happened after that. They simply complains Merrill Edge does not give them proper balance and Merrill Edge side said they did what they can do. Local branch people collect screenshot of recent three-month balance and send email to someone during 11/10/2017 visit, but it was stopped somewhere in the middle of process and still no answer from them. Their requirement is simple and my wife meet all of requirement. They continuously said it is their side problem and will fix it, but nothing is fixed until yet. She need to open up new credit card with Platinum Honors tier to receive 75% bonus, but this is delayed because of that.
Also, she cannot use debit card other ATM, because Bank of America will not reimburse it before receiving Platinum honor tier. I want to talk someone who can make a decision at once. In the middle people cannot understand the real problem and simply wait until it is solved. But, it will not be solved because Bank of America's system has a fundamental flaw. Bank of America and Merrill Edge are now the same company. How come they cannot access each other's system even if my wife and I can see linked accounts together. My wife is losing privilege for one month and I don't know when this will be finished. I really want to talk someone who can make a decision instead of asking someone else's approval.

I choose not to get down because I had my newborn in the car and I figured cash was an immediate deposit so it would show instantly. I put the money in and completed my transaction, the machine glitched on completing and said my transaction had processed but was unable to print out a receipt.
I figured it was ok since it said it had “processed”. Needless to say it was not processed and the cash was not in my account. I was already home and checked my account online. I file a claim as soon as possible because this obviously was not the first time this happened to me. I of course was tossed around while they connected me to the “right people”, which they do not tell the public the outside ATMs are actually run by other sources that are NOT AFFILIATED WITH B OF A, which begs the differ WHO THE HECK RUNS YOUR ATMS???
Long story short drive up to the ATM it eats my cash and it DISAPPEARS??? I made a deposit at Bank of America. 10-14-2017 when I originally made the deposit everything went well no problems, like normal. Bank of America took 300 hundred dollars and made it available to me right away and it stated on the deposit that the remainder of the money because it was a check it will be ready on the 16th of the month, so I went ahead and paid for my cell phone bill. Come Monday I noticed a problem in my account and know it stated that the money would be ready on the 19th of the month so my wife went ahead and made arrangement to pay for the house and the car. So on the 18th I checked to make sure that the money is all set. Not only my account was in the negative, I called to see why this happen. I was told that the bank deemed that the owner of the check could return the check so now they have to hold the check till the 24th of the month, (at this time Bank of America had the funds).
I asked then why did Bank of America released fund and took them back, the check did not bounce, plus the owner of the check was willing to call them or go down to the bank to talk to them so they can release the funds and that the person that wrote the check called his bank and talked to his banker. They told him and they can show proof that the check has been cleared on their part. The customer service rep told me that I am pretty much telling a lie to them that the bank would not tell the person that wrote the check if the check has been cleared or not. There is no way anyone could know that, no remorse or sympathy. He pretty much told me that the bank will not reverse anything or do anything for me because they do not yet know if the person that wrote the check is going to say it was not him that wrote it.
Did not make any sense to me so I kindly asked him to transfer me because he kept on telling me he understand and he can’t help and no one can, and I stated to him again and again that he does not understand that I can’t be late on my mortgage payment for my car and that they have to be paid, that Bank of America does not make it clear to me that my funds will not be in. They changed the due date 3 time on me. Why, he did not know so I asked again to be transferred because he rude and heartless. Also he told me, “Yes I would transfer you but I need to set up expectation that no one is able to help you.” I told him that I did not care for his attitude and the expectation. I just wanted to talk to someone else. It is a shame a bank as big as Bank of America would treat someone in distress this way not caring if they are going to become homeless or carless.
I tell you one thing whenever you start giving people empty promises like Bank of America gave me, and how they do not care for their client well being I would urge everyone that is thinking of becoming a Bank of America customer not to do it because you will be treated like a number without regards that you are a human being. However, he presented them with his new debit card that was issued to him in July, a federal military ID and a state issued Driver License.
He looks exactly like his pictures on the IDs and he even has a picture on his debit card, yet they refused service to him because he didn't know a "verbal passcode" which is supposedly used over the phone as I found out when I called the Preferred member customer service line to complain about this incident. The person I talked to apologized profusely and said this should not have happened based on the fact he was there in person and provided IDs. So in short- Bank of America doesn't seem to care to verify the person actually standing in front of them against their IDs but would rather have a verbal passcode to verify. This entire scenario has left me absolutely flabbergasted.

Ok let me start by saying this, I have not gone negative once but they had some fraud activity in my Account. Btw I never did but the made my account negative in my checking by -800,8888. I have over 3k in my checking. My saving they did the same thing same amount and I have 3k in my saving. Well they said I have to go into the Branch to verify my account. I woke up today and I was charged 3 overdraft charges. Why would you mess with my money and affect my account. Restrict my account until I can go in. But don't touch my money. That's not yours. And then try and charge me $35 3 times. Is ridiculous, not only did they make my account go negative they affects my hard earned money.

The FBI and the FTC ass well as the Attorney General (Pam Bondi) are all aware of the following: **, the manager of a Bank of America branch located at 18400 NW 67th Ave Hialeah Florida opened a business account on or about August 12-14, 2017 for Star Luxury Trades, Inc. (account Routing # ** Account # ** whose president/principal is a woman named Maitee **. Bank of America opened this account by requesting only a photo ID and a copy of the incorporation papers. This company is a criminal enterprise and its owner is a convicted felon who was incarcerated many times for fraud.
This company/woman stole my wife's and my $91,500 through a wire-transfer scam, which directed that amount to be sent directly to her account. The CEO and his executive assistant (see below), along with their fraud department and their attorneys are all aware of this situation. I was the person who, on Friday, Sept 1, 2017, within a few hours of learning that our money (for a real estate property) had been diverted to this sham company (through a series of email interceptions and misdirections and impersonations). Googled the company and the BeenVerified the president of the company. The company incorporated in Florida on August 12, 2017 and its president's photo ID immediately came up as a mugshot with 14 pages of info on convictions and frauds and incarcerations.
Bank of America says it cannot return the money to my wife and me because "they have to protect the privacy of their customer" and "only if the customer agrees can Bank of America return the money." Well, we are told the money is gone out of that account and Bank of America cannot get it back. Bank of America did not follow due diligence in following the procedures spelled out in both the Bank Secrecy Act Manual as well as the Patriot's Act to "Know Your Customer" and for a "Customer Identification Program." It took me less than 5 minutes to find out the identity of this thief (terrorist??) and that her company was one of two that were shams. Yet Bank of America has "to protect the privacy of their customer" - a CRIMINAL or a terrorist??? Where did our stolen money go - to North Korea? To a terrorist group??
IN this day and age -- Bank of America only needs a Photo ID and a set of papers to open a business account for someone in their bank??? What about using common sense and take two minutes to Google and BeenVerified a prospective customer before accepting their business? Here is our proposal to Bank of America - Mr. Brian T. Moynihan CEO and Karen ** -Executive Assistant). MY WIFE AND I WILL DONATE $10,000 to any organization of Bank of America's choice that is currently assisting victims of the recent hurricanes and fires and Las Vegas massacre - IF BANK OF AMERICA RETURNS OUR MONEY ($91,500) STOLEN BY ONE OF THEIR BUSINESS ACCOUNT "CUSTOMERS" - WHO IS A CONVICTED FELON USING BANK OF AMERICA AS A TOOL TO STEAL AND LAUNDER MONEY.
Bank of America can also choose to match that amount - that would be $20,000 going immediately to where it is needed most. Tell Bank of America to give the ** back their money. They are "protecting the privacy of their customer" - who, as I proved to them - is a thief and a scammer. The FBI and Homeland Security and the FTC and FCC all know about this situation, but Bank of America will not give us back our stolen $91,500... Email Mr. Brian T. Monyihan (CEO) atbrian.t.moynihan@bankofamerica.com and Karen ** (his executive assistant) at **. Or you can call Karen ** directly at ** or call **, the branch manager at **.

In September I received a letter asking to verify my information. It was written in July and sat on a desk for six weeks. I called on September 11 and was told I was to ignore the letter as it did not pertain to me and any other that may come. I got another letter and as advised, ignored it. On Friday, October 13 I discovered my account had been put on hold as of Wednesday, October 11. I live in a rural area where all mail is post office boxes and where that address was acceptable when my employer set up the account. Suddenly two months later it was not.
Since Friday I have been repeatedly lied to, been spoken to unprofessional and told that documents from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania were not acceptable. All my mailings come to my PO Box because there is no mail delivery in my community. I own my property so there is no lease and my pay stubs all list my mailing address. I have been hung up on repeatedly and have spent over six hours on the phone to no avail. They refuse to release my pay.

I have been a loyal and long time customer of Bank of America for over 10 years, since 2005 or 2006. Over the years, I have transitioned all my accounts to other banks due to repeated and major customer service offenses. Recently (September 2017) my broker did a soft credit check for me and my nearly perfect credit score had dropped by 100 points due to 2 months of late payments on my Bank of America credit card for $1.97. For months I have been unable to log onto their online banking portal because I keep getting locked and am required to change my password each time which, takes 30 -40 mins in each instance due to your authorization codes not coming in a timely manner.
I am a new mother and work full time so it's very difficult for me to continually have to carve out 30min-1hour at a time to resolve these online banking login issues. Furthermore, this being for a credit card I rarely use because I cannot autopay my bill. If you look back at my account you will notice I had called before about autopay and was told that function didn't exist, which is why I was advised by your customer service staff to set up payments for $50 at a time. After a while, I stopped those payments of $50 a month because I was not even spending that money. All of these reasons have made it extremely inconvenient for me to access and pay for my account. For all my account, I use online banking as it's the most convenient and time effective means for me to access my accounts and pay bills.
The only reason I had not closed my accounts are because I didn't want to affect my credit score by closing a line of credit which I've had for a number of years. I have since closed my account and still have $19 of rewards which could have been applied to the $1.97 balance on my account. Please note that I did not ever receive my balance of $19 dollars back. From my credit report you can see I have many accounts in addition to a mortgage that I pay and have always paid on time and in full. I contacted the president's office on numerous occasions and they were unable to resolve my simple request to reverse the delinquent reporting and send that information that it has been reversed in writing.
It goes without saying that this whole experience with BOA bank and this follow up investigation has been extremely horrendous and has wasted so much of my valuable time. I encourage all my friends, family and entire network to NOT do business with Bank of America. In particular as a working mother, BOA has no concern for families or their well being. It's appalling the lack of time I already don't have as a working mom to spend with my child compared to the time I've had to waste on trying to pay my credit card for $1.97, money which I do have as well as the time I've had to spend for "maybe" a resolution.
I have been simply asking for a letter stating that BOA will be reversing the delinquent reporting as I have been repeatedly unable to log into my account online to pay this tiny and inconsequential bill and accurately report my credit and payment history. I am being neglected because I am no longer a customer and I am being discriminated against as a mother who is trying to prioritize her family over $1.97.

In my opinion, this not the very worst bank around, but, this bank is one of many, that needs to be better regulated by the US Government for its practices of holding down the hard working, lower to middle class (paycheck to paycheck) customers from becoming successful and EVER getting ahead. If you live paycheck to paycheck and have banked at one of your popular banks in town for a while, I don't need to explain this but, for those who don't, and care about the people who struggle to make ends meet - here's what I mean. It's a vicious cycle. You are working paycheck to paycheck and sooner or later you will have an overdraft. And then, another, and so on. Next thing you know, your small business is now getting long holds on your deposits because of these unregulated policy made up by BOFA.
For instance, since you have multiple overdrafts, they will now put holds on your deposits and these can be 10 days. Like we can wait another 10 days to get paid?? This is not just morally wrong. It's downright cruel! And explaining this to customer service, managers, will only waste hours of your time getting contradicting different stories of their policy on this. At this point, it is hopeless because your chances of getting overdrafts are now far greater and before you know it, the bank is taking so much money out of your pay in overdraft fees, etc. that it is impossible to get ahead.
At this point, you are in the grips of an ugly situation that is hopeless. Your monthly balance is now hard just to keep in the positive so then, guess what happens? You are now getting a monthly service fee added to the money being drained from your account on top of everything that is now going wrong for the customer. These policies are obviously designed to be in the banks best interest and in a way that is impossible to get out of unless you find another bank that is not a part of these toxic policies.
I have had a small business account for many years with BOFA and have tried a few other banks and they all operate very similar. This is the scary thing which I pray will one day be regulated by law to put a stop to this. Like an organized gang of bully companies in competition to see how much and how many crafty ways they can take away the working class, paycheck to paycheck, customer's hard earned money! This is horrible, and to me, it’s a terrible crime going on every day in the USA. I like to keep the "F" in BOA because that's exactly what's going on here in America. We are getting raped relentlessly and I hope our government takes notice of this and puts a stop to these large bank corporations taking our hard earned money. Why not these banks just be fair??? A bank is supposed to be in the customers best interest and protect its customer's money. This is the total opposite going on here.
I have even had numerous times where BOFA, and a couple other banks were taking several of my debit/credit card transactions that were cleared and days later, my account was overdrawn by me for a short time during the day, and went back online to see that those several transactions went back into "processing" mode, then re-arranged in a way that they could get a $35 overdraft fee for all of them. This is hundreds of dollars we are talking here. Stolen and in a very crafty, sneaky way. This happened many times. Remember hearing about the class action lawsuit? Has much changed? What's next?
I also notice that there are BOFA branches that seem to always be under staffed and has only one teller, that is overwhelmed working both the drive thru and the people waiting in line for a very long time getting upset, late for this or that. The issue here, is there is one person working their ass off while there's a long line of people complaining and getting upset because of the wait. The whole time, there is a manager just walking around pretending like everything's fine and one person sitting in an office talking to someone who’s upset about something. Why are there not more tellers if they are making so much money from us being their customers?!?! Is there a bigger financial problem with the banking system we don't know about that they need to charge us in a cruel, relentless and calculated, vicious cycle, manner while holding our deposits, refusing to cash checks, etc., etc... Something is very wrong here.
I am fortunate enough to accept this is really happening and have cut my losses with these mainstream American banks and am able to now have an account with a trustworthy credit union but, this has always struck me as a very serious problem that needs stricter regulations put in place. This serious issue here, to me, is part of our country's financial problems. Our working class, paycheck to paycheck, people stuck in this vicious cycle could be using all the lost money to spend into our economy, making our country much more financially healthy instead of feeding these, blood thirsty giants, holding us down.
This is all my honest opinion but, from years of experience and trying the few big name, mainstream banks, BOFA is one of them that's a large part of this problem. I see many complaints here and all over the internet, at the bank, etc. and worst of all, have lived this horrible experience. This is no way to live. And, might I add, I highly doubt the positive reviews on here are real customers. Nice try.
All I can say is, if you live paycheck to paycheck, read all the reviews before opening a new account and be aware of what these big mainstream banks are doing because when times are tough, and they certainly will at times, you could fall victim to this horrible way of life, always under stress, depressed, worried, and suffering damages to your credit, late fees on everything, strain and loss of business relationships. Basically everything completely sucks. Be careful. Be smart. Good luck all. Over and out...

This ALLOWS BofA (Bank Of America) to open him an account, 2 of them, savings and checking. Let me tell you this has got to be the worst banking institution in this country! They charge for ACH transfers, they charge fees for savings accounts and you can't avoid them by auto-deposits, you CANNOT get a hold of the people via phone unless you spend inordinate amounts of time and frustration playing games with their automated phone system and then finding out it is a 20-30 minute wait. They take inordinate amounts of time to credit OR debit your accounts which always leaves you guessing what your balance actually is.
Chat is usually not available and is useless anyhow because of their extreme privacy policies. If you make a mistake, there is no recourse OR mercy, they WILL charge you. A decent bank will allow you at least ONE mistake without a fee if you ask. This is NOT an institution you want your children to be involved with as it is set up for their FAILURE. JPMorgan/Chase is nearly as bad. I do not recommend them to anyone either. If your son or daughter does get stuck with these fools, get a good account setup that allows free ACH transfers and then initiate the transfers from THAT institution for FREE and then write a letter to close those BofA accounts... I asked specifically if it had cleared the issuer's bank and was told yes. The money was mine to spend. So, I did.
After three more days Bank of America debited the money out of my account BECAUSE THE ISSUER WOULD NOT PAY IT. I had SPECIFICALLY asked this question and was told the check was NOT a duplicate and they it HAD CLEARED the issuer's bank. Three years ago, I spoke with someone from customer service about a late charge that I incurred. I had been out of town for three weeks for my father's funeral and in my state of mind at that time, did not remember to pay some of my bills on time. The rep on the phone kept insisting that I give her my father's name, which was bizarre. She said that she wanted to verify his account. I told her that and he had no accounts with BANK OF AMERICA and even if he had, she had no authority to discuss them with me without a power of attorney. She told me that she would remove the late charge as a first-time courtesy, but something about that interaction made me uneasy and a few days later, I decided to follow up on that phone call.
I knew something was wrong as soon as I input my credit card number with my phone keypad, because I was immediately forwarded to the fraud department. The person on the other phone refused to disclose the reason why I was sent to their department and kept interrogating me as if I had committed a fraud. After about 10 minutes of verification, I was finally able to learn that my account had been marked as 'deceased' and had been closed. The crazy chick I spoke with initially had used some kind of twisted logic to determine that I must be deceased because I refused to give her my father's information. I was able to get everything straightened out and thanks to my hunch, this information was not sent to any of the credit reporting agencies.
It could have easily turned into a nightmare - all my credit would have been canceled and my bank accounts frozen if the credit agencies were informed that I was deceased. I contacted the executive office and got a huge apology, but the bigger concern is not some imbecile who was hired to handle sensitive customer information, but the fact that BANK OF AMERICA has no system of checks and balances to prevent customers from being in this situation. There was no reason for that crazy rep to suspect me of fraud, and even if she did not believe that I was who I claimed to be, there should have been a procedure in place that would not allow one person to press a button and cause havoc in someone's financial matters.
More recently, I was calling BOA customer service to get some information on my business checking account and the rep asked me to verify myself with BOTH my FULL social security number AND my FULL driver license number. Am I the only person who is extremely uncomfortable that a low level employee has access to enough unencrypted data to steal my identity? I have never had to provide more than a few digits of my SSNO, and there is no reason for anyone in the call center to see my full driver license number - a few of the first or last digits should be enough. I would love to close all my accounts with BANK OF AMERICA, but my data has already been exposed and it would only hurt my credit.
But they should not be surprised if there is a huge class action lawsuit at some point because of a massive data breach caused by this kind of negligence. I have worked in customer service and I have seen people using all kinds of creative ways to capture customer information from their computer screens. We had someone fired and walking out in handcuffs practically all the time. So why would a major bank be so flippant about security when identity theft is such a well known risk?

On Monday, September 18th, I initiated a pre-approval process on Bank of America's website requesting approval for an auto loan. BOA advertised low percentage rates based upon my "Gold Member" status with the bank. After receiving the rates through an approval portal on their website, we were guided to call and speak to a loan officer with their loan department. On Wednesday, September 20th, my wife contacted the loan officer that was assigned to the loan. We (my wife and I) had already had a vehicle designated for this and we discussed all the terms with them.
At that time we're given a verbal approval of 3.04% APR for the vehicle loan. The representative explained that they would just need to make up the contract and would be forwarding to us shortly. Wednesday came and went, but we had not received the contract. By Thursday afternoon, my wife had contacted the loan officer (I won't include his name, but can provide upon verification of private message) and he explained that the terms had changed and that they were no longer going to honor the pre-approved 3.04% APR that they had promised.
After speaking to another loan officer about the situation, both officers agreed to escalate the problem to their manager. At this time, our original 3.04% offer had disappeared and been replaced by a 3.59% offer through the loan portal. On Friday, September 22nd, we STILL had not heard from the loan department on their decision. After several calls, we were informed that they would most likely make a decision today (Friday the 22nd). At five o'clock we received an e-mail explaining that they had reached a decision and that we could read the decision through the online loan portal that was set up.
There it was again; the approval for the 3.04% interest rate. Ok, so again the instructions were to call the loan officer to make the arrangements to deliver the paperwork. Again, he explained that they would be sending the paperwork over that night, so we could get it signed and they could get the check in processing. Relieved, we went about our business. To explain why this is so frustrating, I think it bears mentioning that we had actually sold her old vehicle after we had initially been promised the 3.04% APR. That was a competitive rate and it made making the decision to purchase a new automobile easy.
The 3.59% rate that was actually delivered is not competitive at all and we would have searched for alternate financing had we known that was going to happen. Also, I have been a member with BOA for more than 15 years and hold numerous accounts with them. Which is the reason that I hold the "Gold Member" status. I would have thought that I would have been treated better than this.
Back to the story. Friday, September 22nd, the day that we received the second 3.04% approval (of which I have pictures) through the portal and spoken to the rep who explained that they would be sending the paperwork over, came and went with NO PAPERWORK. Saturday morning, September 23rd, we reached out to the loan department to find out the status of the contract. They explained that it was "in queue" and that we should get it by Monday. Alright, at least it's being worked on. We can wait.
Two hours go by and we get another message through the loan portal that our paperwork has been submitted and ready for our signature. Finally! So, we open the CONTRACTS and they have CHANGED the APR!!! Again!!! It seems as if they thought that we would just sign the contract and pay no attention to the fact that they have, yet again, decided to not honor their original APR?! I have images of all the approvals received through the portal and then the contract that has a much higher interest rate listed.

I have been on and off with BOA for many years. I opened my first account in high school and used it until my junior year in college. That is when I started noticing all the BS BOA tries to pull on people. I originally closed my account in college because my account kept saying overdrawn even tho I wasn't the one who was overdrawing it. Whenever I asked BOA about it they would lie about a bunch of made up fees. This happened very very often. Fast forward 4 years later and I reopen an account with them because I was clearly having a lapse in judgment. It's the same BS 4 years later. This time I don't leave over a certain amount in my account and thankfully I don't.
My first problem came 9/19 when they held on to my money since 9/15. To the point I'm sneaking on public transpo to get to work. Then I called on 9/19 to see why my money wasn't released yet and was told it was going to be released at 5 PM THAT DAY! THATS HELLA UNACCEPTABLE!! I get off of work at 4, so they were pretty much telling me to wonder the streets until 5! I am not the "I wanna speak with your manager" type of person, because I will leave you a bad review very quickly. However I didn't write a review on 9/19. After being uncomfortably upset and out of character, they released my money but the agent on the phone slipped up and said "just so you know, we hold the money to protect us and the bank... I MEAN TO PROTECT YOU AND YOUR MONEY." No. She had it right the first way you said it.
Now today, I tried to buy something to drink and a small snack since I'm not having lunch. The store clerk tells me my card is declining for 3.00. I told him to run it again because that's impossible. It declines again so I leave thirsty and embarrassed. I already know what the problem is because BOA is full of shizz. I call BOA for the associate to tell me that they deactivated my temporary card because it expired. Mind you all the expiration date says 7/21 but thats okay because I get it, it's a temporary card. Here's my effing problem with BOA.
Why TF do they take it upon themselves to just deactivate a card without telling anyone! That should not be their role at all! If you sent me a permanent card, LET ME GET THE CARD AND DEACTIVATE MY TEMP ONE!!! No one at that damn bank knows where I'm at or what I'm doing. They don't even know if I picked the permanent card up or if it's in my possession. Like in this instance, I was not informed by BOA that my permanent card had gone out or by my mother that BOA mail has arrived.
So my point is BOA is probably ran by idiots IDK. I know having to deal with their stupidity twice in one week is exhausting! IDK how much longer I'll be with this bank... Again. The cashier's checks are helpful when paying rent tho, you just have to stand in line forever to get one tho! I'm so over this bank, deactivating cards while clearly the other one was never activated is just stupid to me. But maybe I'm the stupid one for opening an account again! Thankfully I took a majority of my money out of the account on 9/19, so I'm not completely SOL.

Now while I understand that they CAN do that, the fact that they do it WITHOUT notice and without any advance warning merely cause me to needlessly overdraft the account as I was unaware of their transactions until AFTER it posts suddenly to my account.
This is a bunch of crap. While I understand the policy is there to help BofA get its money back the part that irks me is that they do it on a Friday with absolutely NO NOTICE!! When I call them to talk to them about it I was told that they only notice they have to give is when I agreed to the Terms and Conditions of the card. I asked the bank rep to get it for me or have the teller issue the money once he is done with the customer he is helping. She told me to step aside and she will call the manager.
The manager walked by while I was speaking with him and was about to knock me of my feet and I am a disable veteran, as I started explaining my situation again he said "I got other customers" and continued walking to his office. After over 20 min of waiting for him and calling customer service to make a complaint he comes out and I explain to him again. He asked me to leave and escorted me out without my money.
Customer service will be sending me my money but that is not a satisfying solution. That manger should be replaced. Assistant manager there is great but she was not there today. I will be closing my business account unless they replace him. If you were at the Bank of America today between 4:15 and past 5 pm you must have seen this, please comment of what you have seen. Or just write your experience at that branch. Thanks for looking.

They always find a way to charge overdraft fees of $35, it's business for them. I always make sure I have at least $50 in my account to prevent overdraft and severally I would wake up to find out that past payments that shows cleared in their app didn't actually clear until days after and then they get me again. I called them and they tell me that their phone app is not as accurate as their computer app which is why processing payments don't show up on the phone app. How is that my fault?! Bank of America is fraudulent.

Was a BoA customer for 12 years. Had credit cards, checking account, brokerage account, Business account with them. They sent a compliance notice to verify citizenship status of my spouse and his work location. Given that this was not something we could update on the account profile and holds to the compliance line lasted 60+ minutes, my husband went into a branch and provided all the requested information and was assured that everything would be taken care of.
The next we know, our account was frozen. By the time I could get to the branch, they closed the account, shipped off a check for my checking account and then they sold my stock and sent me a check. Really disgusted with this BANK. Their compliance team is a bunch of jokers. They refer to compliance like it's the holy grail. And not one person has a reason to provide for this fiasco. We have had no funny remittances. The only outflows are payment of credit card bills and school related checks. I am definitely not going to sit idle and pay for all the bounced checks and tax on my sold stock without getting some justice here.

I been seeing "service fee" on my statement and for whatever reason, I started really looking into it. I went back as far as a year that I been charged 12. So I called and found out if you don't carry a certain balance or a direct deposit of AT LEAST 250, you get charged these fees. I understand that the bank has to look for ways to make their money but no one cared enough of me as a 12 year customer to make any awareness to me that I should deposit just 50 more dollars to avoid the fees.
I called in and spoke with a rep in which I was promised a call in 24 hours from a manager and of course nobody called. They don't care to tend to a petty $12 matter. When I called, they told me one fee was reversed. I felt completely disgusted and insulted. Nobody calls in about no 1 fee!!! No, I didn't expect to get all my fees from a whole year back, but a couple of months would have been considerate. I am leaving BOA and going elsewhere. This has put such a bad taste in my mouth. Of course another bank will have fees but hopefully they will care enough about me to properly ensure customer satisfaction.

I have always had good service with Bank of America and have used them for years. They are always very helpful and answer all my questions. They are conveniently located wherever I have lived. Calling me if they detect a wrong charge or something else.

Although Bank of America provides a wide range of financial programs, they are lacking in customer service. We live in a small farming community and in the last 12-18 months, they closed two branches which leaves only two branches serving their customers. The result is that there are long wait times to speak with a teller or representative and when you express concern with the lack of customer service, their response is that Bank of America is forcing their customers to use online banking and ATMs for all of their services. Sometimes the ATM or online banking services can't provide what you need.

I will never ever bank with Bank of America again. They are awful, they overcharge and put me at risk. I will never ever do business with them again if I can help it.

Bank of America or as some call it BOA is an awesome bank to work with as they truly watch out for their customers. I'm sure other banks do as well and I really can't compare them to others as I've had BOA for many years now. That alone should speak for itself. I highly recommend them for your banking needs.

First off, their fraud department sucks. I deposited a check and after a couple of days it being cleared by Bank of Leeches, I asked them to investigate because I am not sure about the validity and they confirmed it was 100% legit. After several days the check bounced and when I called them they said they didn't confirm it was valid. Gave me the runaround. I lost $1200 to the scammer then these leeches charge me $12 for getting scammed. Haha. Freaking blood-suckers!

Been with them forever. No problems and if there was a problem I am confident they would handle it perfectly. Always easy to do business with and very consumer-conscious.

I brought a check to be cashed and the bank tried to say I made the check. They found out it was real and cleared. Still wouldn't give me my money after 6 wks. I had to close my account to get my money. Never got an apology.

Bank of America has excellent banking features but its investment prowess is somewhat limited. Local managers have been helpful on a number of financially related issues though.

I've noticed that the BOA locations I've visited last no longer have their drive up teller windows open. When I questioned why, I was only told that the bank will no longer be using them. Big mistake!

Our branch has terrible service. In general it is too hard to do business with them. We only keep an account for when we are away, mostly in a foreign country or place that doesn't have other banks. We use our US Bank account for all other purposes because they have better service and better and easier to use online.

They use to be a great bank. I loved the easy access to deposit at the ATM machine. Then they started letting companies I didn't even authorize to take money from my account. When I complained it was just a lot of excuses.

All of B of A customer service rep's are clearly professional while logically caring more for their customers (like being a psychologist). Many customers are stressed with possibly credit card problems, and they fully care & assist with other oncoming recommendations.

BofA has credited my account while working on a fraudulent charge. Reversed an overdraft when I or a company made a mistake. I am completely confident making online purchases and shopping out of area. Only complaint the Merced office, gets zero stars.

Try your best not become a victim of identity fraud! It has almost been a month and I'm still recovering to fully recover my account. I was told on 16 Aug '17 that my name on the card was too long so they didn't ship the card. So, that day a new card was shipped. I picked it up today on 20 Aug '17 and then I tried to activate the card and it didn't work. I requested to speak to an associate and was informed that the card that I received was cancelled. Now, keep in mind, on 16 Aug, they told me that my card didn't ship because of my name was too long on the card. It's going on three weeks and I have yet to receive all the benefit of using my banking account.
BoA's biggest problem is they don't endorse your account. They don't annotate the on going progression of resolving issues such as identity fraud. One associate to the next, I had to repeat myself several times of the same story of what happened to me as if I had to start all over again. Remember, I am the victim. There were times I felt that it was my fault that I experienced identity fraud. I also experience, they are not in the best interest of really resolving your issue. There's not a sense of urgency in resolving issues at hand.
I've experienced identity fraud on 23 Jul '17 and it is now 20 Aug '17 and I am still experiencing issues with BoA. From the E-Commerce Fraud Dept, all the way to Customer Service, they are not in the best interest of protecting your account, thus leaving you without a peace of mind. I will soon leave them. By far, BoA is the worst banking experience I've ever encountered.

There are no local offices. I've had trouble getting any cooperation from them in the past especially when it comes to withdrawing your money... Typical big city bank... Cold and impersonal. Stick to local banks and avoid these guys.
