American Advisors Group (AAG) Reviews

I thought American Advisors Group was a better deal with regard to interest and the package it would take to get to a closing. I worked with Janet and she was always very forthcoming with information and helped me through a lot of things. Also, she was so efficient. She had answers for everything that I wanted to know. And if she didn't, she always got back to me. I would recommend AAG. It has been a business-like experience, which is something that I appreciate.

My husband and I started this process in July 2019. We were told then that our house did not appraise for the amount needed. We should wait a year. Our consultants name is Josh. We waited exactly one year and called again. This time the appraisal was good so we started the process again. After pulling a credit report it was decided that I would be a non borrowing spouse. My credit had went sour due to some personal family issues with my mom. We also needed to put $40,000 down to make it work. Which we have. Around August 21 the appraisal was finally done. However, they did not come in the house due to Covid 19. They did a drive by and we took pictures. Our home is very well kept up and clean.

There has been some delay on American Advisors Group's appraisal process but so far, so good.

I saw something online about a way to deal with some of my credit issues. I filled out the information and AAG was the first one to contact me. I heard about them before so I thought that it would be a good thing to go with. I worked with Alby and she was wonderful. She answered all the questions, she was extremely professional, courteous, helpful, and patient, because it was taking me a while to get documents back to her. She made sure that I knew exactly what's going on before we move from one step to another. She was excellent.

Mark's been very helpful in processing everything as quickly as possible. So far, we've had a very good experience with American Advisors Group.

I see AAG all the time on TV. Tom Selleck is doing the advertising and I like him. I thought I’d give them a call. Ms. ** was very easy to talk to, to find out all the things I needed to find out. She pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of a reverse mortgage. Since I don't have any children, I'd rather use that money that I have in the equity in my home and do some things I want to do. On the other hand, I have a stepdaughter who was trying to dig her claws into everything that the wife had left to me. I'm the one who bought the house and paid for it, but according to her, her mama gave the house to her, which she didn't do.

My experience with AAG was exceptional. Every point of contact I had with all the people within AAG was fantastic. Camille ** was extremely courteous, kind, and helpful. I enjoyed working with her very much. I also was extremely happy working with Judith **. I will definitely recommend AAG to friends and family.

It was time to get a reverse mortgage to get rid of the mortgage payment, because everything goes up but our little Social Security checks. American Advisors Group was very informative with all my questions. Louis, the rep, was sincere, honest and straightforward. I like his warm way of dealing with people. He was a good guy and I was impressed with him. A lot of people aren't ready because of fear but if they are, they should call Louis first.

I needed the money. I had very nice people to assert possibilities and things to get my life where I felt comfortably safe with some things that I wanna do. And AAG was very nice and responsive. However, I don't understand this COVID mess. And it gets out of order with me because you have to divulge too much information over the phone. And I'm not one of those kinds of people. It's very confusing an issue where you have to go back and forth over the phone with people, conversing about your personal status. But so far, so good.

The process with AAG went great. The application to underwriting took about 45 minutes and Mark was excellent with me and helped me out quite a bit.

AAG was very thorough in their explanation about the reverse mortgage and I was allowed to ask questions. The young man I dealt with answered everything I had.

I bought the house and it seemed like everything went wrong, like the furnace that’s in the basement. Then I had to fix the driveway. Little by little, it took my savings down so I looked into a reverse mortgage. AAG was very nice, especially that one little guy. I'm very happy with the way they've done me.

I went online and looked for what we considered the best. I looked at the AAG reviews and they seemed to be a good company. When I sent in the original question to them through email, they called 10 minutes later. Since then, they've been pretty good with the process as far as recommending people to do the counseling. We've gotten as far as notarizing the application because they sent somebody in the house to do it. When I'm out of my mom's house once a week, we do things, so they've been working with my schedule very well. So far, everything's gone very smoothly.

Scott was the first one that we talked to and he went through everything that they do. He was so easy to talk to and he didn't hesitate about telling us anything. Any questions we had, he was very available to answer. There were a lot of calls back and forth when he would investigate and make sure that they had the right answers. It seemed to all fit. We had thought that we would talk to two or three different ones. But as we talked to Scott, he was very straightforward and seemed to know what he was talking about, and gave us a lot of information, we decided that there wasn't any reason to talk to other providers.

Adrian ** has been very helpful and informative. He is a joy to work with. I will recommend Adrian to everyone I know that is considering a reverse mortgage with AAG. AAG is very concerned that my retirement is wonderful time of life!

I looked at about eight or nine companies. I liked the customer feedback for American Advisors Group. They asked me a bunch of questions. Janice was my loan rep and she was fairly cordial. I was in depth into my situation and my ideas of my financial future. It was extensive. I was impressed by Janice's overall knowledge and willingness to help get the process started. I call when I have concerns and I can get it either answered then or they'll call me back and try to assist me.

My husband and I decided on getting a reverse mortgage as our retirement plan. Somebody had recommended American Advisors Group. The gentleman, Christian, was very nice and on top of everything. If I have any questions, he's been able to answer them all. He kept me informed about everything that’s been going on. I had somebody who's already in the mortgage department that helped me to make the right decisions on everything.

When I first moved down here, I was in the hospital so many times for heart issues and I went through my savings like crazy. Then seeing doctors after doctors, I ended up using credit cards quite a bit. Now, the house needed some repairs. I'd taken out a home equity loan through my bank. But no sooner I had taken that out, I ended back up in the hospital. I knew by doing what I was doing, I was constantly in debt all the time. I didn't know which way to go. When the young guy came to my house, he told me that I got a nice home and I only got minor things that needed to be fixed. He said that I'd better go through a reverse mortgage. People would say they’d take my home and it was not like that. He gave me the phone number and I called.

The American Advisors Group was very professional. Working with them was kind of slow. But it's the time of year while the events are going. My loan officer, Ray, was great. Sometimes, I was hard of hearing. He was patient and he explained everything really well. The only thing I was confused about was the amount of money the other mortgage company was holding for my insurance and taxes, and I still haven't found out about that yet. Then they haven't informed me very much lately. I called them three or four weeks ago and they have returned my call twice since then. It's just a matter of time. But I get concerned about how soon they're gonna let me know what's going on. Overall, people should call them and see what they can do to help.

We got a second opinion and quote from AAG. We googled it and it said they were the number one group so we called them. We got a guy, Jose, who was very helpful. He explained everything what it was and how it worked, and how it would be beneficial. He told us everything we wanted to know or had any doubts about. In fact, he told us some stuff that we didn't even know about. We got along with him really well. He was a nice person, he seemed to want to work with us, and he seemed interested in what the situation was. My wife wanted to do it and I didn't want to. But then I'm 84 years old and I ain't gonna live much longer, so it's not going to make much difference to me.

American Advisors Group told me the pros and cons and the pluses and minuses of the reverse mortgage. It was really helpful in making up my mind. Robert, the loan officer, was nice. He went into detail with a lot of things and called me back to follow up several times. I was very comfortable with the process.

The gentleman came here and he was super nice and very informative. We're about a month in the process and we're waiting for the appraisal. I called Karen to find out what's going on 'cause I haven't spoken to her and it's been a week or more. She didn't give me information on when the appraisal is going to be scheduled. She said the appraiser might come in and now she's saying the appraiser is not going to come in because of covid. I don't mind them not coming in. We have almost $100,000 in upgrades and he or she won't know that by driving by. I'm very unhappy with what's going on.

My husband passed away and I'm the only one getting an income. I haven't tried to go back to work yet and my funds are getting lower and lower. It kind of scares me. I'm trying to look after myself and make sure that I can pay everything. I want to pay on the reverse mortgage too. I want to get some things under control and be able to manage better.

I’m getting closer to retirement and I thought it'd be a good idea to look into reverse mortgages. AAG gave me the information that I needed. I didn't know how it worked and they told me how it works. It took a while to answer the questions that I wanted to answer but they answered everything I needed to know. Also, the rep I dealt with was really helpful and I felt very comfortable working with her.

I thought I would get 80% of the value of my home but the rep didn't offer that. They appraised my home at 189,000 and they would give me about 66,000 so I decided not to take it.

I called AAG and I got Joseph. We've been dealing with him and I've been real happy with him. He's been a good guy. We've been communicating by email and it's been working out. These processes take time and so far, it’s been excellent. Joseph initially said to not expect anything till the first of the year and we're right on schedule. I'm very satisfied with the way things are going.

AAG helped me get everything taken care of. They answered everything I asked them.

I'm in a position where I'm asset rich and cash poor. I’ve been in the stock market all my life, and we’ve had rentals besides my regular job. We were doing fine, and then my wife had to have full-time care where we cut it to half time care. That was about another $85,000 of cash going out a year. So I had taken some money out of the stock market to pay for that. But we got two houses that would be worth a lot of money. One of them, we got rented and then the other house, we couldn't visit anyway. I looked at a regular mortgage to get money out of it but I didn’t like that idea. So, I pursued the reverse mortgage. That looked ideal to me because I could stop taking money out of the stock market and use it up so my interest in this would be in the house. Also, if I stopped taking up this money out of the stock market, I could make as much money there because it would allow more space in the end for the original mortgage.

I have been dealing with Vincent ** who works remote in L.I.. He has been very helpful and patient in getting on board with the reverse mortgage. He helped me with the concept and the details & he had led me step by step through the process. I am at the Notary step and then the house appraisal step and I'm done, thanks to Vince. I have been very happy with him working with me and explaining things. You need to keep him on your side.

AAG has been perfect for me, so far. I got a thing in the mail about reverse mortgages from them about eight months ago and I just put it away. I thought about it and I even talked to my banker son about it. He thought it was a good move. Then I started the process going. The people have really been good to me. Miss Joyce, our loan officer, and everybody have been excellent. They made everything really straightforward and made me understand how everything would be going on. They're supposed to come and do the application tomorrow. I like it and I'll tell my friends and family to go for it.

The process has been really good. The rep was very personable and took personal interest in our situation. He was a pleasure to work with. There had been a few periods where some time passed and nothing happened but a phone call to touch base would have been good.

AAG is doing an awesome job. When they say they're gonna call, they call. We got a little bit of trouble with the paperwork and they fixed that. So everything is going really well. A lot of people are totally misunderstanding what a reverse mortgage is. They think somebody is gonna take their house away from them so a lot of people are afraid of it. But these people from AAG cover that very clearly and another person calls on the phone and goes through it all and make sure you understand it. It's very thorough.

We were very pleased with Bonnie. She was knowledgeable, readily available, efficient, and very responsive to our questions and issues. It was a pleasure to work with her. Based on consultation with our financial advisor we decided not to re-finance our reverse mortgage with another reverse mortgage. Bonnie was very professional in handling our decision. I'd recommend her to anyone desiring to pursue a reverse mortgage.

We needed a new roof very badly on this house and my transmission went out in my car. One thing after another started happening so we looked into getting a reverse mortgage. The loan officer from AAG is great. Everything he said was wonderful and it made sense. The service is awesome and it's a lot easier than I've thought. I should be getting an application by next Friday.

My rep was upfront with everything and really informative. Any question I asked him, he answered it and explained it real good so I could understand it. It’s been good with AAG. They told me everything that was involved and how it worked. They kind of drove by the other day and did an appraisal on the house. I won’t get the appraisal back until about the end of next week.

I was working with a guy here with Mutual of Omaha and he was here local in my town. He didn't give me all the options. After I took the class, I realized what he had done and so I started to research as far as who was the best and it was AAG and so I decided to give them a call and lucky enough to get George. George, who I'm working with, is a great guy. We've friends throughout the whole thing. He was very helpful even after the class, which I really learned a lot. Any question I've had, George has responded and he calls me about every couple of nights, just checking in. I have nothing but a great experience so far with AAG. They're number one in the country with reverse mortgages and they are very reliable.

The initial contact was good. However after I paid $125 for a “counseling session” there was an appointment made to sign papers. The person never showed up and there has been no further contact. Very disappointing.

Jennifer was extremely helpful. She told me how to get the information necessary to complete my paperwork and even will attempt to make some of it completely unnecessary. I’d be happy to communicate with her for any more information.

AAG is very good. The first person that I dealt with last year was just a trainee and he didn't know a lot of stuff. He approved me for a reverse mortgage before he got the appraisal which didn't make sense. I didn't know much about reverse mortgages because I thought it was not very good for me. I found out the person approved me and then later denied me. That was why it didn't go through. This time, the person that I spoke with was Christina. She knows her stuff and she's very efficient. I also deal with women better than I do with men. So I gave it another try. She's a very good person to deal with. I was surprised that she was able to do a lot of stuff for me. I didn't know how much my house was worth at that time. So I was surprised that it went up quite a bit. She went step-by-step of what kind of paperwork I needed or whatever the information I could get. I really appreciate her very much. She's a good employee.

When I was thinking about doing a reverse mortgage, AAG seemed to have a pretty good rep so I went that way. AAG has been very clear and concise. Michael, the counselor, has been in constant communication with me, making sure I understand what needs to be done and how it works. When he sent the paperwork out, he went over the paperwork with me and explained it. Then when I did the call to where I'd have to have some consultation, when they went over it, it was exactly what Michael and I had talked about. With the paperwork man, he helped me understand it when I went to that call. They’re helpful in doing things. I would recommend AAG especially if every counselor would be like Michael.

So far, it’s good with AAG. My rep listens and explains stuff. He seems really nice and gives you answers.

A reverse mortgage was something that I was thinking about and I went to see what AAG was offering. I called them to ask how it worked. The rep spoke right and he explained everything to me. He also called me on a Friday but I was in the doctor's office, so I told him that I couldn't talk. But at the beginning of the week, I called and canceled this interview over the phone and he never called me back. The rep sent me a booklet on it and there were a lot of fees. The fees were very high for me so I canceled. My niece, who's an accountant, also said that it was too high. So I went through another company where I could get some help.

I wanted to do some home improvements and a reverse mortgage was one way to get some money to do that. It was terrific dealing with AAG. They answered all the questions, got me to the right people that asked me questions and interviewed me, and went through the whole procedure. Everything was really smooth. Everything has been signed and we're just waiting for things to happen.

I had somebody that I knew and she had a friend who had gone through a reverse mortgage. She was extremely happy and got to do things with the rest of her life that she wouldn't have done if she hadn't gone through it. I went with AAG and we had a very competent representative working with me. She was patient and very pleasant. It was a joy to talk with her. She made sure that I was comfortable with what she was saying and all the paperwork that I was completing. She went the extra mile to do the research and come back with a solid answer. However, AAG could not provide for me what I wanted to finish or do things I wanted to do. There would be a long-term procedure. Unfortunately, I wanted to get it done now. I didn't want to wait the extension.

I was given a list of numbers to call and AAG's guy responded. He was very pleasant. He explained the process and what to look forward to. He went over everything real good with me. He was very succinct and understanding, making sure this old woman understood exactly what was going on and what to expect. We still got a couple of more steps to go before everything is final but Brandy has been really nice and calling me to let me know what's going on, what to expect, and who's supposed to show up.

A friend of mine had gone through AAG to get a reverse mortgage and he told me how much it was the best thing he ever did. I had been running real tight on money. My property taxes and everything went up and my Social Security doesn’t go up so I gotta do something to survive. It seems to be working out real good with AAG. The rep I work with answers all my questions whenever I have something to ask him. Or if they had to find an answer through somebody else, they always call me right back. I talked to the guy on the phone there a couple of days ago and he said everything is going along real good. They just gotta wait for the appraiser to come out. I'm hoping it's going to help me as much as it helped my friends.

Over four years ago, I tried doing a reverse mortgage on another house but it didn't work out. So I ended up selling the place and moved here. Then I just decided to get hold of something completely different this time. I bought the place as-is and all my money went into fixing this joint. So everything I got, I own, the truck, the house, the motorcycle and the land. But living on Social Security from month-to-month is not quite enough.

We checked into AAG and it was rated at the top so we went with them. Lauren has been the one we've talked to the whole time. She went step by step and explained everything. She was very helpful and personable. They did a great job and met our needs but one thing we didn't know is that you cannot access the full value of your home, only a portion of it.

I needed that extra cushion to have some money for things so I decided that a reverse mortgage was a good way to go because my mortgage was paid up. Christopher of AAG is very good but I need him to call me to tell me where everything’s at.

The rep I worked with was great and he handled everything quite well. I felt very comfortable working with him.

Eric, the person I worked with from AAG, was a nice guy. I had to pay 125 for that counseling. I thought it was a waste of money. But after hearing the counselor’s story about how these reverse mortgages worked, it was the best $125 I ever spent. I’ve been silly to do a reverse mortgage. It would have cost me thousands of dollars than it would have cost me to get the reverse mortgage. It isn't as good as it sounds on TV or radio. There are so many hidden cost.The money you’d get for your house is definitely gonna pay back when your home sells but there's interest incurring on that money while you're enjoying spending the money. So, when it comes down to it, all the interest and all that money, you may not even have a house left by the time that you die. The counselor told me it’s 100 times better to just go get a low home mortgage loan. I learned what a reverse mortgage was and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

Our business has been shut down because of Covid. We didn't want to lose our home so we decided to go with a reverse mortgage. We're both in our 70s, so this is the home that is comfortable for us and we want to stay in. We're still in the process. But we're going to do it because it'll give us the comfort of knowing that no matter what happens with our company, we still have our home. AAG has been very good. They get back to you pretty much when they tell you. They were late a couple of times on getting back to me but the rest of it has been fine. They sent us to credit counseling, which we did, and that all went fine. We haven't closed yet. But with COVID, everything is taking longer and I understand that.

I just started with American Advisors Group and went ahead with the flow. I had to go through that level course there where they ask you all the questions, talk to you about everything, and make sure you understand what the reverse mortgage is. After I did that, I pretty much understood everything. Everything seemed to work out okay. All my questions were answered by them. The loan officer seems to be a nice guy, and he was helpful. The loan’s not approved yet and it’s not what you would call a speedy process, but everything seems to be going fine.

I’m 78 and I would like to have a little extra money. I thought a reverse mortgage would be an easy way to do it. The AAG rep I talked to explained everything. It was very thorough and I appreciated what he gave me for information. He didn't lead me on or try to give me any information just to make me take the loan. Unfortunately, I can't do it because my husband is much younger than me. They were not going to allow him to stay here after I die. Or if they did, I would get very little money. But it was a good experience and I'm glad I found out all about it.

Mr. William talked to me several times and he was very understanding about my situation. He encouraged me and helped me understand some of the expectations of me and I could help my family and myself with the money. There's nothing they've not done that I have asked for. The notary is coming tomorrow and he's going to look at my house. I had to put off a couple of visits and they've rescheduled for me and were not impatient. When I had twisted my ankle and I didn’t take any kind of phone numbers or anything, they did not chastise me for anything. I’m really pleased that I reached out for this kind of help. I’ve never done anything like this before and I was so afraid of rejection. But it's been good so far.

I was thinking about a reverse mortgage so I called AAG to get information. Their rep was very nice and helpful and explained what I needed to know. I was very comfortable dealing with them. The guidance I received was perfect and anything I asked them, they answered me to my satisfaction.

I was looking at the possibilities of doing some remodeling for my home. I looked at AAG and the gentleman I worked with was very nice and informative. I had a very good presentation from them. But it turned out that it was best for me to just take out a loan for what I needed. It was a good experience with AAG, it just wasn’t my best option.

I would like to better my situation with my mortgage. My loan officer from American Advisors Group was fine. An appraiser came on December 1st. I'm in Cleveland, Ohio, and there was a huge snowstorm. So, I have no clue how he could do any kind of an appraisal with a foot and a half of snow on the ground, and I'm waiting to hear or see the appraisal. I don't know why I haven't heard from anyone, but I'm not very dissatisfied as yet.

I've been working with Daniel. We had a very good hour-long conversation with him and he's very good. He has done his job and that is a lot. Also, he’s been very good at his job and he's very personable and thorough. The process is still ongoing and we've been in constant contact.

AAG did everything that I needed them to do. I wanted to see if they could help me pay my property taxes and get my gas line fixed. Their rep did good. I’ll tell my friends and family to try AAG.

The reverse mortgage is part of my recovering from Hurricane Michael plan. We've been working on this for two months now. So far, I haven't seen any money out with it or any action as far as reversing my mortgage. But AAG has come out and I've talked to somebody over the phone for a counseling session. They did some evaluation of the house and last time I talked to the advisor at AAG, they told me that they have to have a drive-by type inspection of the house now. I haven't heard anything since then and that’s been a couple of weeks. Also, they are hard to get to. Every time I call them, all I can do is leave a message to call me.

American Advisors Group worked pretty quickly. They’ve answered any questions I needed and they got a notary out here where I couldn’t get into one. But there is room for improvement.

I got quotes from AAG and another reverse mortgage company. AAG won out on what they offered and their bid was more financially advantageous for me. Also, they were more prompt in getting back to me on things. Things have been proceeding nicely. The rep we work with, Janice, made sure we understood what reverse mortgage was. Somehow, there was one area where they collected that we were going to choose our own closing company. We didn't want that and she got back to the guy very quickly as soon as I emailed her and said I think that this is wrong. She's been very responsive.

My payments keep going up every year and if they kept going up, I wouldn't be able to make them because I'm on a very small income. I would have no way of raising my income. I've done everything that American Advisors Group asked me to do. I got lots of papers to read and questions to answer, and I got to sign papers to send back. I haven't heard anything to what they've decided to do. So, I'm still waiting. It's kind of hard doing things so long distance, but it was something I have to try to do. It would be good if I'm able to get the reversible loan. I would certainly let people know about AAG.

I’m getting old and my savings are dropping. I need repairs on my house and some trees need to be cut down. American Advisors Group was great. The guy I worked with kept in touch with me. His knowledge and his friendliness were impressive. AAG works with you and keeps you informed of what's happening.

I was in contact with another company but they were kinda iffy. I didn't like how they were going about it. The guy acted like he didn't want me to ask any questions. AAG was the next on the list and my rep went over everything right down the line real well. I could ask him questions and he answered them. He seemed very personable. He called my cell phone and if I didn't answer, he always left a message for what he needed or what I needed to do. So far, it's been really good. However, the process is not finished yet. The last step that's been taken was an appraiser came. He said all they had to do was take a picture. He did say that that was going to be last Tuesday but I don't know if they did come or not.

We were gonna sell our home and the Realtor told us we had to be out by a certain day. We thought we had more time but we didn’t and we were in a rush. We took our stuff to storage and we spent quite a bit of money going down and back. We thought we'd have enough and we wouldn't have to have a mortgage. But then, the closing date was put off and then the buyer said he was gonna look somewhere else. We had to get all our stuff out of the building and bring it back up here. We spent a lot of money on that and we decided that we wouldn't sell. We were over our budget and we hardly have anything left for food or anything. A friend of ours had a reverse mortgage and she told us to try it because that helped them. AAG reps were very informative and answered all the questions we had.

My salary had been reduced in retirement. I did AAG and they've been very good. But I haven't been very good about following up on and getting things completed. It's a tedious process.

My friend's father had some experience with AAG and he told me that they treated him well. I decided to give them a call and my rep was very knowledgeable. He's kept me in the loop well and made sure I understood things. He called to make sure things were going right. He kept me notified of what was going on and how things were going. I asked him how things would work. I wanted to make sure that I could stay here as long as I was physically and mentally well. He told me all the requirement for that which was not a problem. They were things I’d plan on doing anyway. He has been very upfront with me about everything. If I have any other questions, I can call him right up and he'll go over things with me and answer all my questions.

My wife just passed away and I got a lot of doctor bills and stuff like that that I need to take care of. I’m on Social Security and a reverse mortgage was the only way I can see doing it. The reps I worked with at AAG were very, very nice. One rep explained everything that she was doing, what we were doing, and what I was signing. I was pretty happy with it. I’ve never done it before and I felt very satisfied and very complete with the process.

I'm old and I don't want to make the house payment anymore so I've chosen to go with a reverse mortgage. I worked with Christine, my loan officer from AAG. She's awesome and I love her. To get a reverse mortgage, you have to take a counseling class, and then you send the certificate to the loan officer. I just finished my counseling session. They've explained what a reverse mortgage is, and what to ask her, and to say that I want something waived. As soon as I get Christine this certificate, then we go from there to finish it up. I need an appraisal and I need a couple of other things that she needs some other information for me. My loan officer is awesome and absolutely wonderful. She has been very forthcoming in everything that I needed to know. I've heard a lot of good things about AAG and that's why I've chosen it.

I'd talked to my rep a million times and she had been wonderful. She explained this whole thing. Then I talked to another person. They went over everything and told me exactly how much I could apply for and how much I would get for my equity. Right now, I'm waiting on a notary that’s coming out supposed to be at 3 o'clock today to notarize some forms that I need to send in like my Social Security card and driver's license. When that’s done, I hope they’ll confirm that I can be able to get it. I am so excited over this. It's been an excellent experience and I'm very satisfied with AAG.

It’s been good with AAG. They take their time and tell you what you need to know. We worked with Roxanne and she was very compassionate.

For what little I needed, I thought that a reverse mortgage was probably the best way to go. Monthly-wise, I could pay you what I wanted to. So far, my experience with AAG has been good. They answered a lot of questions. Trevor has been very knowledgeable. He helped me out quite a bit and I'm very pleased with what he told me. Robin went over the details and explained it to me. They were both real good.

I did some research online and I like what I read about AAG. Their rep contacted me and he answered all my questions. He knew what he's talking about and he had a sense of humor. Every time I called, he responded. It was quicker to call him, emails take a day or two to get back to me. But he was easy and great to work with. I wish I got more feedback from anybody - what's going on and where we're at now. Last time I talked to him, we're still waiting on the appraisal but he felt optimistic we'll get done by Christmas so I feel good about that.

My experience has been far better than what Tom Selleck says it is. They explained everything far more than I really needed to know. But they did a very good job with that. Their loan officer is extremely sharp. She knows what she’s doing, and she’s very financially oriented. She's very thorough about everything. I'll tell everybody what a great company AAG appears to be, how thorough they are, and how friendly they are. Also, they're easy to get ahold of.

AAG explained the reverse mortgage to me and then I did the counseling. Unfortunately, the counseling raised more questions than it answered so I've kind of put AAG on hold for now. The loan officer I worked with was a bit of a go-getter but she was a real nice lady and she just wanted to help me. She told me to call her anytime and she has called me a couple of times. I've asked questions and she answered them. After the counseling, I kind of told her it raised more questions than it answered and she backed right off. Also, she's 400 or 500 miles away from me and that makes me a little uncomfortable. I would prefer to have a loan officer within 20 miles of me. Other than that, so far, it’s been a great process.

I'm working with AAG and it has been really great. They sent me a mail and I called for information and they were really cordial and friendly, so I just followed up. The loan officer is a nice young man and he lives in California. He has been right on top of things. We got moving pretty quick and they gave me good guidance on my options. He was friendly and willing to talk a little bit as we go along. I’m satisfied and I recommend them.

I went with AAG as I liked the fact that I wouldn't have to be making payments from my income. They’d been quick with everything and I got a lot of one-on-one contact with the guy who helped me get started with the loan. That was nice. So far, everything's wonderful. I've had every question answered sufficiently and the ones that I didn't ask answered. They've been going way over the call to provide me with expository information on how it works and interest rates and how they work. I am left with no questions except, “Am I approved?”

I don’t have anybody else to give the house to and I want it to come to some good. I did a reverse mortgage and Erin with AAG did a lot of explaining over the telephone. She was very friendly, honest, cooperative, and easy to talk to. I had a very good, very honest and forthright experience.

I have a reverse mortgage and I'm really unhappy with it. The interest rate was extremely high. I was interested in getting a little money out of this thing. I have a couple of things I needed to pay. I decided to go ahead with AAG. They gave me a lot of insights. But I said that my house was worth 280,000 and they didn't even bother to come up to my house to look at what I have. They got me to sign everything and go through everything except the estimate. I thought I was gonna get it at 280 but the estimate came in at 245, which is way too low for this area. And I couldn't argue with that. I had to pay for it. They should have backed me up better with the estimator because that's a lot of money down the drain that I could have had in my line of credit. I was a little upset with that.

My experience with AAG has been fine. The problem is with another company, Factual Data, which is used by AAG when they are trying to verify things. I was on hold for two hours on Tuesday while Factual Data was trying to set up a conference call with my credit union to give the latter permission to tell them what to pay off for my home equity loan. At two hours, I was cut off. This morning, I tried again, another two hours. Finally, the lady whom I was working with said that we were not gonna get through to the credit union that day and it could be another two hours wait. I went down to my bank and they said that they didn't know what the matter was. They said their central office and real estate department was fully staffed.

I had a reverse mortgage with One Reverse. They went out of business and evidently, they sold my reverse mortgage to AAG. The experience isn't complete yet, but it's great.

We saw American Advisors Group's advertisement on TV with Tom Selleck, and it seemed like a good advertisement. We talked it over. Then we found out that we had another family member who was thinking about it. They had gotten a disk in the mail, and we had seen the CD, and it looked good. We just followed the steps after that. So far, up to this date, it's been good.

AAG's information was very good. I've been working with Alan. He was very helpful and informative. He's very good at what he does, very friendly and very careful to talk to. We seem to get along, which made it easier. I had to take that counseling course, too. The service works good. I wasn't very impressed with their appraiser and the efforts that had to go through to get appraised, and then it turned out to be very poor. Other than that, with COVID, people have got a built-in excuse for not performing professionally. Still, Alan has performed and kept me informed. The appraiser would be the only stick in the mud.

With unstable things that are going on, I wanted some money in the bank in case anything comes up. We had already decided on a reverse mortgage and looked into it ourselves. The rep from American Advisors Group that we worked with was efficient and helped us get through everything that we needed to get taken care of, which we’re still working on. People should go ahead and get a reverse mortgage if they’re older like I am. I was gonna leave the house to the kids and stuff, but they're all doing better than I ever did. So, they don't need it.

My wife passed away and I ended up losing from her income over $700 a month. So, I’m trying to make that up if I can. American Advisors Group was awesome as well as working with their rep. They’re to the point, honest and they try to help you in every way possible. The experience has been pain-free and great.

The rep I worked with, Alex, kept us informed and communicated well. They do whatever we needed to be done. They're very good.

Karen, my rep at AAG, has been phenomenal. She's helped me every inch of the way and I couldn't ask for anything better. She's answered all my questions and answered some I didn't even know I had. She has taken me step-by-step on the taxes and the fees I'm responsible for. My insurance has to be maintained and some other things. She gave me a full financial portfolio picture of everything that was going on, and that I could expect certain things and it came to pass. So, it's been very informative. I started out being afraid. Now, I'm not and I understand the process. AAG has been convenient.

The rep I worked with at AAG seemed to ask all the right questions. He also stays in communication by phone and by email.

Last year, I started with AAG but I didn't go through it. But then I decided to do it because of Tom Selleck. He sounded sincere. When I started applying, I went to another group and compared it and I decided to go with AAG. Jeff is the greatest. I stuck with AAG because of him. He was very thorough and very detailed. That’s the reason why my family and I like him.

The loan officer was very nice. We talked about family and how I would be able to take care of myself a little bit better with this reverse mortgage. He kept up with everything. He would call me and let me know. The phone was all the time ringing. I'm anxious to get it done. He was talking about the money I would be able to get. He told me what I could do with some of the money as a line of credit. Then I'd be able to get so much the first time at the closing. Then I’d have to wait a year in order to draw more money to do what I wanna do.

AAG is working on my reverse mortgage. I have all the paperwork on it and they said it's gonna be ready 1st of December. It's longer than I thought it would take, but they gave me a fair rate. They also gave me more discounts at my closing. The rep I worked with is wonderful. He gets back to me and knows what he's talking about. I'm happy.

BJ, our loan officer, was excellent in explaining everything and sending me the correct materials. He's made it a good process. We're still in the process with it and it's been a good experience. Looking forward to getting to the end of it.

I was looking around and AAG was a lot better as far as the offer for the closing cost. Our agent was really wonderful. She kept up with whatever appointments we have. She was proactive with everything. She gave a follow-up of what was going on. She was really understanding of what we were trying to accomplish and then she gave us choices. She gave us the ability to decide for ourselves. She gave us choices that are in the brochure. She made it clear to us so we could make an informed decision to go through it and what we were going to do.

AAG called me back so I went with them and everything's going smoothly. It's been about two months and we're close to the end. My rep is pretty good. He calls me when everything is slowing down and lets me know what's going on. AAG has gotten everything in order. They've been very good.

Things have been going smoothly. I'm just waiting for the final papers. AAG worked right with me. They've been real cordial. So far, I'm happy and everything's been pretty much working like they said it would. My loan officer told me what to expect and all the things I needed to do and the things I needed to provide for applying. I worked with a lady named Tina, and she was always Johnny-on-the-spot, letting me know what was happening. At one point, things have gotten real quiet, but they were waiting for some of the reports to come in.

I was in a work-related accident and they put money in AAG for me. Then, Riley, the agent, called me from California. He's done everything in his power to get me into reverse a mortgage. We've got a whole pack of papers that we signed. But with this COVID, I haven't been able to get any extra money to do it. But they were very friendly, upfront and honest.

I went online and asked them to send information. Next thing I knew, I got a phone call. The guy that’s working with me is real sweet and he calls me and gives me updates. He stays in communication and he explains things to me. He always asks me if I have any questions. I talked to him yesterday because I got a packet in the mail. When they did the appraisal on my house, it was higher than what they thought it was gonna be and so they had to revise the good faith thing. He said we probably wouldn't be closing till the end of the month. I've got two mortgages.

It's a higher rate with AAG than any other home equity loan and it's a variable rate. If it's a variable rate, it can and will go up. And if I do what they wanted me to do, in 10 years, they would own the house. They weren't very upfront with me and their commercial was not truthful. I would not recommend them.

They went into great detail about exactly what they do. They said I could start the procedure and I could get all the way to the point where I got to get the house appraised. If I feel like I don't wanna fool with it anymore, I can just stop and back out. I said, "Okay." They were calling every day with this and that. But then when it got down to it, I couldn't get them to call me back. The last time I talked to Gina, she said it's all great. It appraised for more than what I had told them it would appraise for and that everything was cool. But there was a fire out there in California around her house. She told me another lady's name that was handling my stuff. But I hadn't heard from anybody.

Updated on 11/12/2020: I just wanted to post an update to my review of AAG that I posted on October 31, 2020. AAG responded as noted on this website, to call them and discuss the situation and see if they could fix the problem. Obviously the problem cannot be fixed by giving us a reverse mortgage because of the well situation; however, they could have offered to refund the $125 we paid for the counseling certificate that we never needed. Per their response to reach out to them I did so.

I am in the process of getting a reverse mortgage and the experience has been fine. I've been working with Anthony at AAG. He's been real helpful and he has answered my questions. They have not yet received the appraisal of my townhouse but they told me that they're gonna be getting it next week. Then, we should have the refinance papers by the end of the month. But if he would call a couple of times as we're waiting and give me an update on what's going on, it would be helpful. It has taken longer than I thought it would but that's okay.

I called AAG to ask for a pamphlet and the person that answered, sounded so nice and so friendly. They explained reverse mortgage by me going through counseling and a lot of talking and a lot of questions that they answered me. I've never had somebody tell me, "You're gonna go to counseling just to make sure this is what you really want.” The person that I talked to in counseling was very good at explaining everything to me. Craig, my loan officer, is a very nice person. He explains everything. He goes step by step, and I have questions. I got a pamphlet in the mail that I didn't quite understand so I read some of it to him and he said, “Oh! Okay, this is what changed. And this is what's going on.” He goes step by step telling me what's going on. He's always texting me every other day to tell me, “Well, we're still here. We're still waiting around, and have a good day.” So far, he’s been really good.

I never realized the process was gonna be so in-depth but I'm going with the flow. AAG's customer service has been pretty good. I understand the process would have gone a lot faster. But it's the office in Orange County, California that’s taking care of me right now and they're having a lot of problems with the virus and with local Mother Nature factors thrown on top of it. But they're doing pretty good. Shawn is very well-mannered. He acts like he's known you your whole life and he's very confident. The last time we talked, winds were blowing up and fires were not far from him. He said I may end up having somebody from their Texas office to finish this out. I'm not too concerned because he said they have back-up plans for me.

Vanessa from AAG is really personable. She gave me all the options. The counseling session is pretty good, too. But the fees are really high and we had some delays. I'm still waiting for the inspection and I'm getting a little antsy about how long it's taking. But that's out of her control. She told me that they were having issues with inspectors or appraisers. Other than that, AAG has been thorough and has a decent loan to value ratio.

I'm working with Carol and everything has been fine. The appraisal is done. Carol said she'd be in touch by the end of the week.

We've had a reverse mortgage and we decided to do it again. AAG has been very helpful and pleasant. They're easy to talk to and answered all of our questions more than once. The house appraisal went fine and they estimated to finish sometime in November.

I was looking for somebody that was upfront and would tell me the truth, and I did. After starting the refinance, I did talk to somebody else. Everything they told me was upfront and honest. I was able to reach my rep any time I needed him. He was very knowledgeable. When I had questions, I was kind of insecure as to what was going on because I've had other types of mortgages but I had never worked with a reverse mortgage. He was as though he was taking a child through the fire and was very gentle with me. I was really nervous about starting this in the beginning and AAG always gave me the truth.

We had a little trouble with the Social Security Office in getting documents but they finally came through. So, we finally got to send in the final paperwork. Brian, the rep, is a sweetheart. He has been patient and very good with us. He is a great employee for American Advisors Group. Everything went like clockwork like they told us.

The rep from American Advisors Group called a while back and told us not to worry. Everything seems to be great and he has been good. He said that the only thing left was I had to have the house appraised and we haven't had anybody out yet. I was hoping to hear something today.

The reps were good. They wanted to have it closed and all done by the week of the 21st but it didn't happen. Right now, the process stalled and I don't know what's going on. The last time I talked to AAG was the week of the 21st. I was waiting for them to approve the loan. They got me the appraisal of the house and everything else was approved except for they wanted proof when my wife went in and when she came out. They were trying to get ahold of the hospital where my wife had to go through a therapy at. I called down there to get her records and the guy that answered the phone said that they were no longer in service. I asked him about our records and he said they don't have them. I asked him if there was any way I could get them. He said not that he knew of.

David, the rep from American Advisors Group, was tremendous. He was very informative, kept us informed each step of the way and gave us all the information we needed to make a wise decision. We just finished the process so it funded on Monday.

None of our kids or anyone is gonna be part in everything we got. We wanted to look into a reverse mortgage and see if we liked it or not, and so far, we do. AAG was very efficient. They didn't leave anything missing. They were very good about answering our questions. I felt very comfortable with them and so did my wife. Everything went well. They explained and went through everything and we're pretty happy.

I like my loan officer very much. I told him what I sought and I needed some answers from him. He told me the good and bad things about it all. He's a very friendly man but very businesslike. I liked those areas of his presentation. I sought some comparison of other companies that I worked with to see what their program was and how different it might be. But for the most part, I was very satisfied with working with AAG. They need more documents from me but I have pretty much decided to go with them. I had another company give me a quote and they matched that quote for me so I was very pleased with that. I would be very comfortable recommending them to any of the people I know because they would ask the same questions that I was looking at.

This process on the reverse mortgage seemed to be more tailored to what I needed more so than what the others were offering. I am pleased with the rate because everything else seems to be going through the roof. My rep, Gary, has been very helpful. He's been quite frank and upfront with me with everything I've asked him. He has showed me that certain things can be done and certain things cannot be done. He has gone all out to work in my behalf in order to get me what I want. Everybody in the office that I had spoken to so far has been very polite. I have no problem with AAG. It's the process of the other people getting all the information that is causing all of this go very slowly which makes me a little worried right now. It's been over two months now.

My loan officer from AAG was very good. Overall, the people there seem to be pretty honest.

I looked on the internet for reverse mortgages and AAG's representative called me. We had an extended conversation about why I wanted it, what it entailed, what I needed to work on or schedule, what was included in the contract, and what I had to pay extra. He told me options, what the options would mean, and to think about it so that I know which one would best meet my needs. He did not pressure anything, Also, he told me that I could call him at any time with any questions. He is a gentleman and I enjoy talking to him very much. My experience with AAG has been very comfortable.

AAG helped me out a lot that my life could become a lot better. Mark was nice and sweet as could be. We're on the last lap of the process. I just have to have my house appraised.

There was a lot of paperwork but the process is going the way it's supposed to. My rep keeps me informed of what's going on.

I had AAG previously and I like the way they do business. Now, I'm in the process of a reverse mortgage with them and I have a week or two left. The rep I've been working with is very professional. They're a good group.

So far, the process with AAG has been going all right. The rep's doing everything he's supposed to as far as I understand. He contacts me every week and tells me how everything's going.

My objective is to be totally debt-free so I did a reverse mortgage. I looked at other options and AAG seemed to be appealing. So far, I've had a very good experience with them. My rep is very informative. I'm very comfortable and confident working with her.

Everything's been great with AAG. Their explanations and all the things they did were very good. Chris was excellent. He was very detailed and very businesslike. He knew absolutely what he was doing and made things simple and pleasant. He was doing fine, but he called and he was quite frustrated. The group that was supposed to be doing the assessment has not been following through though. Everything is done on the paperwork, they were supposed to come in and do that stuff for the COVID there. We don't need to supply photographs and they didn't come and do them other than that one side supposedly, and they just disappeared. Chris was after it, but he was highly frustrated and it's got him a little bit stymied. But, we have enough faith in AAG overall that I'm sure he will come up with an adequate solution. It's just been very efficient, very professional and very relaxed with AAG.

I've been kind of researching reverse mortgages for probably three years and AAG was the best and most reputable company that I found. Shawn's been great. He's very informative. As I was answering his questions, if I had any question, he stopped and explained everything to me. He kept me posted with emails and all the information that I needed. I've already had family members that are coming close to the age ask me because they know that I've been talking about this for a while and I've recommended AAG over anyone else that I've researched.

We looked into a few companies and AAG sounded the best. I was impressed with their professionalism. The rep explained everything where we could understand. She was also a very nice person to talk to. There was just a lot of paperwork though.

My wife and I are in our early 80s. We want to make sure that we have access to sufficient funds to take care of ourselves should something happen. We reached out to American Advisors Group. Our loan officer is very good. I've been given every opportunity to see any kind of publications or I've gotten copies of everything, signature-wise. Nobody's trying to hide anything.

I've been working with AAG for about three weeks and we're still in the middle of the application. There are some documents that they still need from me but I'm not able to produce them yet because I'm in the middle of my retirement. I'll have to wait until my job sends me a certain paperwork. But so far, I like it. Roxanne has been tremendously very informative about everything. She's been very patient with me and explaining everything in detail. I've gotten kind of scared that I might have made a bad decision at first. She walked me through it like two or three different times to make sure that I was comfortable with them. She's been absolutely wonderful.

I was looking into AAG and I asked a bunch of questions, and I didn't feel like I got satisfactory answers from the person I was talking to. When I talked to a different company, I got answers to my questions. I felt like the guy that I was talking with didn't know what he was doing or he was trying to hide something. So either way, that's not where I wanted to go. I would tell others that I had looked into and wasn't satisfied with.

American Advisors seem to be around the longest. I did a little research on different ones and I didn't read or hear anything that was negative. AAG was pretty diligent about my situation and the pros and cons of it. The person I was speaking with did a good job on evaluating whether it would be a good move for me. He’s a good guy. I like him. He's very personable and knowledgeable. He kinda stuck to the facts of everything. There's no hard sell. There's no pushing. It's not like buying a car. Everything seemed to flow pretty well. I don't think I received much guidance. I just received a lot of facts, pros and cons and evaluating what my decision is. It was pretty much left up to me whether it was a good choice for me or not perfect. So far, so good.

I used to work as a mortgage loan officer, and I was familiar with reverse mortgages. It's exactly what I need at this time. AAG answered any questions I had, which wasn't too much. They directed me to Consumer Credit Counseling, which I'm also familiar with because I used to recommend people to them too as part of my job. They went through an entire session on the phone. It was about a 30-minute phone call. They pretty much read a script, but made sure I was familiar with all of the pros and cons.

I have a house in Aberdeen. I was waiting to refinance the house, and a reverse mortgage was an option. AAG showed me about how much money the house was gonna be worth, the difficulties in remodeling myself and they gave me advice through the process of getting the loan settled. My loan officer was good. She explained the little things and she made sure I understood a lot of things.

With everything that’s happening and we have so much equity, I thought of using it that's why I decided I’d go with a reverse mortgage. We're still working on it but the rep is a sweetie. I do have to call in to her for her to get back in touch with me but everything seems to be going okay. I just pray that everything goes well so we can get this done in a few weeks.

I've been trying to get a loan. Seeing that I had some collections on some credit cards, no one would give me a personal loan or a home equity loan. I wanna get my home fixed up so I decided to look into a reverse mortgage. When I did, it seemed like it was the right thing to do. It sounded like it's good because my kids don't want the house. There's no one to leave the house to. They don't want the aggravation. They have enough of their own stuff let alone come in here, clean the house up and try to put it up for market or rent it out. To eliminate all those things, my wife and I discussed doing a reverse mortgage and we thought that would be a better plan.

I liked the fact that AAG would take the lump sum of what's left to pay on this, pay that off themselves, it'd sit there and it would give me the opportunity to have some spending money. I am retired and concerned about my finances so I thought of checking into it a little bit more. I was told that they would take care of everything. I've been going to so many different directions but it sounded like a good program where a person doesn't have to worry because it would be automatically paid off by the reverse mortgage. If something happens to me, then my kids can sell that and pay back to AAG what's owed to them. If I decide to not stay here permanently and move on, then I can go ahead and sell it too and pay back AAG for it. I also wouldn't happen to make my house payment anymore.

They're very nice people. So far, my experience has been good. Ralli, the agent, pretty much walked us through everything. He told us what we were gonna have to do, and there wasn't a lot that we even had to do except visit with a couple of people. I was surprised at how easy it was. He was very concise and very clear about everything.

They were the only one that sounded the most honest. They were willing to listen to problems. I like the way they work with you and do things. It's a good company to work with. My loan officer was willing to work with me on things because I wasn't too sure if I wanted to do it or not. So far, I've accepted it and I'm waiting for a call for a couple of days. She hasn't got around to calling me yet.

I saw AAG on TV with Tom Selleck, and he kinda got me more interested. Then I called and got ahold of Wes and we continued on our way. I'm trying to consolidate some stuff. I've got a bill coming up that I need to get rid of or they're gonna jack about $6,000 worth of interest. It was one of those you pay it off in 18 months or 24 months. I wanna get rid of that and then solidify my retirement.

I looked into a reverse mortgage as part of my retirement plan and for other things that I needed to be done around the house. My loan officer, Wes, was very helpful and patient, and I liked that. Everybody that I was in contact with, including the counselors, were very nice people. The guidance from American Advisors Group was very valuable. I was very appreciative of how they worked things and they gave exactly everything that you should know about what was going on. I was very happy with the way they laid it out and they had patience enough to tell me everything. So, it was a very good experience.

The reverse mortgage will make my life a lot easier with not having a house payment every month. I just did the application with American Advisors Group and I haven't heard since. So, if the application goes through, then the appraiser would be the next step. Kyle, the rep, was great. I called him because I hadn't heard anything, and he said for me not to worry. As soon as he hears something, he'll call me.

The people that I worked with were helpful and very informative. Since I didn't know anything about reverse mortgage, they explained everything very thoroughly and answered all my questions and concerns. They did a fantastic job. I just thought about it really hard, and something came up, that's why I didn't go with the reverse mortgage. It was gonna put my house back up to almost where I paid for it. I knew that I didn't have to pay anything a month with it and I understood the fact that nobody could put us out of the house as long as we paid the taxes and the insurance. But I got a traditional mortgage and I'm not taking any cash out.

The experience was fairly good. I didn't know exactly what else to ask and they seemed to cover most of the bases. The process is not that difficult but it seems to be taking a lot of time. First, we had to wait for the interview. Then they had me scheduled for a Saturday for the notary to come with the paperwork but he didn't make it until the following Wednesday. Now, I'm waiting for the appraiser for the property. But I would probably go back to AAG. Kyle hasn't called me back lately but he seems like he's trying to do a good job.

We had a loss to our home. Ins co settled quickly & put AAG & our names on the check. We signed; turned it over & AAG has held on to it for over a mth requiring all kinds of crap from us that we can't do. Keeping 50% of our $ & that's not even enough to buy the materials for the repair job. Plan to keep the rest till inspection is done once job is complete. (Roof job) There is no way to pay the people doing the work until they get an inspector out here & no one wants to wait on their payment for the job. How are ppl suppose to work in this kind of a deal? They say they will call us back within 24 hrs but doesn't happen. Be leary of a reverse mortgage if you think you will EVER have a claim. In the meantime they are drawing interest on the $ that has been deposited in their acct & here we sit with holes in our roof from a tree falling on it. I'm beyond furious & when I checked online the case says it's been closed. Go figure. Buyer pls beware of AAG!!!!

We have lived in that house forever and we’re not ready to sell it yet but we wanted something. My mother and I watch Blue Bloods all day long and Tom Selleck is the spokesperson for AAG. We saw the commercial and then we made the first phone call. Everything seems to be going very smoothly right now. Harvey is great. He is very helpful. He calls and keeps up with everything. I couldn’t find the Social Security card and he told me how to get in touch with Social Security.

I’ve seen Tom Selleck on TV for years and it was always at the back of my mind that I may need AAG at some point. It came sooner than expected because I’m on Social Security. I just moved to a new home and found out that my Social Security increase no longer qualifies me for the government tax credit. So, in the middle of the pandemic, I thought of how I was gonna find a safe job and how I was gonna come up with money. When I signed up, the reps were wonderful. I wish everybody had customer service like they do. When they said they were gonna call at a certain time, it was right on the nose. Plus, there was plenty of follow-up.

Doing a little research, they're one of the strongest and biggest. We went through agent consulting for the reverse mortgage and they also required a counseling session. Our loan officer has been great. She has done a really good job of keeping us informed and knowing what’s going on and walking through everything. Our interactions with her has been pretty straightforward.

I looked AAG up online and they were one of the top people. They're still waiting for the appraisal on my house before they even make an offer. So, that is still in progress. But they are keeping me up to date. We're doing fine. Mine is a special case because my house is high value, so I know it's gonna take a little bit longer.

I was in the process of getting a loan through USAA and they understood all of my circumstances to qualify for the loan, and they agreed, and then three-quarters of the way through the process, they dropped me. So, then I called AAG who picked up and took care of everything. As far as the process, everything was perfectly easy.

At this point in my life, I feel like I need a little bit of help. When you're working, you think that things are gonna be good when you retire, and things happen. I needed to do a reverse mortgage. I've been seeing AAG on TV, and I went with them. My loan officer has been very nice. He tried to answer every question that I had, and he always returned a call whenever I called him about something. The hardest thing has been trying to get this appraisal set up. It’s been like two weeks since I signed the papers for the first part of it. I guess it was the application. I thought it was gonna be a lot sooner for the appraisal. I was hoping it'd be done by the end of the month, and it didn't happen. With the virus and everything going on, I realized that things are what they are.

I was interested in getting capital to do improvements on my property. Previously, I had a bad experience with another company that claimed to be the number one lender in the United States. So, I was leery with AAG. Now, we're halfway through the process and I'm waiting for appraisal. Up to this point, I haven't been disappointed yet.

I contacted AAG to get a final payoff amount for a real-time closing - original number they sent was wrong. The agent was completely unhelpful and could not get someone with senior authority to talk with me. This completely wrecked the closing, buyers had to move out, and things were suspended so they could have their "7-10 business days" to provide a number that takes seconds to access. Totally unacceptable!!!!

We’re in our 60s now and my wife was looking at different things that we could do for finances and everything. She ran across the reverse mortgage. She did a lot of reading and she showed me a lot of stuff. But through it all, she discovered AAG and then we made a few phone calls, plus we researched a bit more. And then, we rolled from there. The rep was very clear on everything he talked to us about, which we know for sure because we researched. Everything he explained to us was information that confirmed the information we had. The only thing that really came up at the end was just the formalities. I turn 62 on May 24 so we have to wait a couple of weeks because of that, but that is no big deal.

I just googled and searched for information and AAG’s website was the one that popped up first. I saw that they were the biggest and most popular, and had some good ratings. The rep was great. He was very nice on the phone and answered all our questions very clearly. Initially, he asked us some preliminary questions and then he ran the credit checks and told us what we needed to do. We had some things that we needed to take care of on the credit. That was pretty clear. And then, when we did the application last week, it was very thorough and clear also, other than I had to translate for my in-laws because AAG didn’t have a Spanish-speaking person. Also, I just called the rep at his office and on his cellphone but he didn’t answer. But he usually gets back with me within a day or two.

I have a banker in Las Vegas for 40 years who financed most of the casinos when they built them. He highly recommended AAG. He said, “I don’t know why you wanna go to anybody else.” So, that cinched it for me. Communicating with Sam, AAG's rep, has been excellent. I got a package I have to send back to her. I had to ask her a few questions first so I don’t sign on the wrong line.

AAG's rep didn't call me when he was supposed to. We had to resend another account to him that he wanted, but he hasn’t got back to me. He said for this month, I wouldn’t have to make a house payment. But it’s almost the end of the month. It looks like I have to make one. I tried calling today but it went to a voicemail. But other than that, applying was easier than I thought it would. My son does all the work for me.

I have very large insurance payments. I have three daughters and I paid on these things. Now, I have to keep making payment and I'm retired, so I ran out of money. I had to do a reverse mortgage. My daughter helps me with a lot of stuff and she did a bunch of research then we ended up choosing American Advisors Group. The rep was very helpful in every aspect the whole time. She stayed in touch with us and kept us posted on what was going on. She was very efficient and I think she should be given a raise.

At first, I kinda put getting a reverse mortgage off because I really thought that it was nonsense. To be able to not pay my mortgage was kind of off the deep end. Then, as time went by, I started researching AAG and there were pros and cons to it, but it was mostly pro for me. Also, it was wonderful that AAG has Selleck as the spokesperson, mainly because he was the first one that I took kind of seriously. Not because it was Tom Selleck, but because he was more truthful with what a reverse mortgage was. I'm sure the others were all scripted. He helped me decide to go ahead and do it. But I would like to see the company start using people that have actually done a reverse mortgage.

With a reverse mortgage, I can take the equity out of my house and invest rather than it just sitting idle. My loan officer was perfect. She has attention to details, does what she says, and when she says she’ll get it done.

When I did a cursory review to see who was local here, I found a couple of local lenders that did reverse mortgages. I had a cursory discussion with them but then, I talked to the people at AAG and they were fundamentally sound and the largest in the business. They have the capital and are not trading mortgages off or selling it. Sometimes, lenders have bundled mortgages and sell it off and AAG doesn't do that. What they did as a business suited a need that I had at the moment and I figured they were the best one to go with. They’ve been very professional about it. The situation was pretty much regulated. There are specific rules that lenders have to follow. I went to the FHA website to check AAG out. They were also listed in HUD as well.

A reverse mortgage fits our plans better for our retirement and our kids can do it on their own so we have little intention of leaving them very much. I did a little research and thought American Advisor’s Group would be the better one. We’ve had a lot of email and phone conversations with Kim from California. He's very knowledgeable and the communication has been pretty good. It’s pretty costly to get it going. They have not checked the foundation and stuff but I know that that is costly which is a detriment for the prices that they’re charging. Other than that, everything is working out fine so far.

I’ve been considering doing a reverse mortgage for the last 15 years. My loan officer was very helpful, very informative, had all the knowledge needed. My house has been appraised but it’s not ready for closing yet. They’re doing some fine-tuning to make it all work. I was kept informed all the way. It was a good experience.

I liked the guy from American Advisors Group that I was dealing with. He covered all the bases and explained all of it pretty thoroughly. Then I had the counseling where I asked a few questions and I was given the same answers. The service has been very good, so far.

My wife and I are both retired. We’re older people and we’re trying to make our lives less complicated with a reverse mortgage. Everything seems to be moving along with AAG. We’re waiting for the docs now. AAG has been very professional and we really like working with them.

I looked them up and they were the highest rated business-wise through the Better Business Bureau. Also, there weren’t really a lot of other choices that I felt comfortable with. My loan officer has been wonderful. She is very nice. She made me very at ease about all of this, right from the beginning. My father had had one so I understood a lot about it, and she appreciated that I had the knowledge and then didn’t waste a bunch of time talking about things that I already knew. So far, the process has been very easy. I had my appraisal today.

AAG is advertised on the computer very heavily. I’ve seen them several times on the TV advertising, so I chose them. You want somebody that is reputable and obviously, they are. There’s been times when my loan officer taken a little bit of extra time to get back with me. But I think that’s because of the Coronavirus situation. She was good. I really liked her on the phone.

Aside from American Advisors Group, I’ve talked to other lenders. Some can do conventional loans, and some can do FHA. Most reverse mortgages are FHA. I prefer conventional, but it’s gotta be through FHA, and that’s what takes time. AAG has been good. They had someone come out with all the papers they wanted me to sign. They're saying the loan is going through, but they said there’s an awful lot of other stuff to be done yet. I guess they haven’t sent someone out to appraise the house yet but all the paperwork is done now.

I stumbled upon American Advisors Group when I was gonna go with another company and I was trying to get one of those counseling things set up. AAG hooked me up with Carol and Carol and I had a rapport. I liked the way she explained everything, which made it a lot better for me. She dumbed it down, so I understood it a lot better. It has been three weeks that I've been working with them and now, I'm just waiting to hear from her about the appraisal.

I am 65 and ready to retire, so decided to get a Reverse Mortgage. I started the process with Harvey **. I had been through the process last year with a different company when I was going to buy a house, but backed out of the purchase, so familiar with it. I asked Mr. ** numerous times to please email me my options such as Fixed Rates and different HECM's and he refused to do so. He literally told me what kind of mortgage he was going to give me; I had no choice in the matter. He also very incorrectly stated to me that my home was only worth $400,000, when realtor.com has it's value at $565,000, and I am a life long appraiser, so understand home values. He then stated AAG would hold $65,000 of my money to pay property taxes and insurance and that I would get no cash out.

We were very close to having the house paid off and we decided to do the reverse mortgage. I did some research online and AAG seemed to get the most positive responses. Sandy, the loan officer, was knowledgeable and straightforward. He knew the answers and understood what I was trying to do. I have been impressed with everybody I've come in contact with regarding the reverse mortgage. Also, the upfront fees were more than I expected, but they are typical. It was a learning process, but we're fine. We're waiting to hear on the appraisal and we are very satisfied so far.
