Pleasant experience. We were informed of the process (reverse mortgage) as it proceeded through each step. John ** followed through on all questions to ensure we knew where in the process we were at all times. We have been able to clear most of our debts which allows us to live more easily on our fixed income. We would recommend AAG to anyone thinking about a reverse mortgage.

We were very pleased with our agent, Joseph ** in the Melville, NY office. From the initial call to the finish, he was very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous at all times. He responded to every call and question we asked in a quick timely fashion, and we made our decision to use and go with the reverse mortgage in very many ways due to his assistance. Thank you. We were very pleased with Mr. **'s expertise, his clarity around the process, his patience with our questions and concerns and his prompt response to our calls. Being in another state meant we could not meet personally, but he was great.

Very pleased with the overall experience, however AAG did have some internal communication shortcomings. We sometimes felt the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. It caused us to have to duplicate efforts on our part.

Mr. Sean ** is an awesome and amazing person. When there was no place for me to turn, Mr. ** stepped into my life and threw me a life raft. This has made my life so much better since I contacted AAG concerning a reverse mortgage on my home. Dominick is very intelligent, dedicated, hard working person who enjoys his job. Dominick is extremely patient, explains in details your concerns and will walk you through the process of obtaining a Reverse Mortgage. If he was not my advisor I probably would not have chosen this company. It took approximately 4 months to decide if Reverse Mortgage was right for me. I was scared and confused. Dominick reassured me I was making the right decision. I could call Dominick at work or at home, he was never too busy to answer my questions.
Dominick also informed me that it's mandatory for me to meet with a FHA counselor to make sure I was not misinformed by him and that I understood what was told to me. The FHA counselor reiterated exactly what Dominick had explained along with them alternatives of not taking a Reverse Mortgage. Dominick was with me throughout this entire process to closing. I would definitely recommend AAG and to definitely ask for Dominick.

My process to get a Reverse Mortgage with AAG was painless and a joy to work with Dominick **. He kept the process moving forward to a final payout in a reasonable time frame. I am very pleased with the entire process and the relief to know I am using my equity in my home is making my life easier. Brian ** helped to keep us informed on the reverse mortgage process. His personality and good humor was uplifting especially when we hit some stumbling blocks. Andrew ** was also helpful in getting information necessary to proceed with the final steps. There were times we felt discouraged because we couldn't get all the requested details on our accounts such as our American Express. Finally a 3 way conversation was set up where I gave American Express permission to answer AAG's questions. All went well after that. I would recommend AAG to others interested in the process and I would feel extremely confident in recommending Brian ** as a reverse mortgage professional.

My Acct Mgr was extremely helpful, diligent, responsive and in constant communication with me throughout this process. He was very professional & maintained a supportive & positive approach. His efforts qualify him for "10" stars vs. "5" stars in this survey. My Underwriter however, was the antithesis of my Acct Mgr. She was frustratingly non-communicative; did not return phone calls & failed to honor multiple requests, many in writing, to communicate with me vs. my elder parent. This lack of respect to honor my requests for working exclusively with me caused emotional upset for my parent, delayed process until I was able to ascertain what the requests for information were about & made me very frustrated. Thankfully, my Acct Mgr was able to clarify & update me on needed information to move the process forward. I rate my Underwriter as a "0". My rating in stars therefore is a "3" overall.

The young lady, Jeanna **, who was the original person I applied through, and who was there for me throughout the experience, is the largest reason I followed through with my reverse mortgage. She showed huge compassion, and was always there with both honest answers and advice. As long as you have a first line like Jeanna, you will always have good business.

After years of trying to decide whether or not to get a reverse mortgage I went to AAG's website to see what they had to offer. Shortly after I got a phone call from Brian from AAG. We had a discussion for an hour or so. He answered all my questions and made sure I was getting all the information I was looking for. I was impressed by the way I was treated. I never felt rushed. He never gave me the impression he couldn't wait to hang up and go on to the next call. It was such nice experience. I finally decided to apply for the reverse mortgage.
The application process was extremely easy. When there were papers to sign they sent a person to my house; I never had to go anywhere during this process. The counseling part was an hour phone call. They sent the closer to my house for the final paperwork that had to be signed. The whole process from original call to closing took less than 6 weeks. I now have a line of credit to use whenever I want. I heartily recommend AAG. They are fast, efficient and know how to treat their customers.

The process was a challenge only because of my travelling of my job. Otherwise it was great except for the large amount of paperwork to sign and deal with. My agent was great and led us through the process, courteously and professionally. All was just as I expected.

Reverse mortgage - Process was about what I expected, but much more paperwork and longer process than I expected. Considering that my house was paid for, I felt like I was a credit risk rather than a good prospect.

The preliminary info received was complete, our understanding and needs were met. During the process all appointments were scheduled to our convenience. All expectations were met as promised. AAG representatives are most qualified and it was a pleasure to work with. Thanks to all at AAG.

Everything worked fairly well. Lost the original Loan Officer who was terrific but transition was easy. Big exception, Financial Assets are either under staffed or incompetent, or a combination of both. It seem to me that AAG could exercise more "guidance" there or find a better partner.

Reverse mortgage application - I had a very good experience dealing with the people who guided me through the process of my application. Everyone was very professional and supportive and tried to make sure all my questions were answered. They do a good job of following up after each step I took in the process.

Could have been a lot better. While the loan did eventually get closed the process was brutal. Horrible communication from AAG and almost no way to get a response or to communicate information. I did get a good deal but paid the price to with the process.

My wife and I are in our early 70's and still like to travel. We retired as early as we thought possible but have found that inflation and our active lifestyle has put a dent in our nest egg. We looked into the reverse mortgage to gain access to the equity in our house without having to sell or increase our monthly expenditures. AAG was helpful and patient with us as we worked our way through the process. They made suggestions that gave us the best outcome for our situation and I would recommend them to anybody looking at the reverse mortgage to help with senior life finances.

Please! Run, run far away from these people... They lie, manipulate, take advantage of the sick and elderly. They should be ashamed, and what the family has to deal with after their loved one has passed away is terrible. I do not understand how a company can take advantage of a terminally ill person, who is on radiation, chemo, numerous pain meds, and is in early stages of Alzheimer's... I truly do not feel like my father was able to make a rational decision about a reverse mortgage, and his doctors agree. If you do decide to go this route, talk to your family, make sure they understand what's going on.

This was the biggest mess I have ever gotten into. After months (6) of calling with no answers, being transferred to my loan agent, with no response emails went unanswered, finally the last phone called when I got hot under the collar did my loan agent answered and said, "No one called you? Your loan has been rejected a month ago." It would have been nice if someone told me. Nowhere in the ads did it say you must have a high credit score and all bills must be up to date, sorry if that was the case why would anyone deal with AAG. Sorry Miss ** but you were the worst dealing with. Out of the office Wed. Fri. and Monday. Won't answer phones on Tues or Thur. You must have a hell of vac time.

I only had conversations with 2 AAG employees. They were both very knowledgeable and helpful. I did get very concerned because it took so long to ever get a closing date --- 8 months. We closed on 5/18 and my money was in my acct on 5/22. Very good company to deal with.

Once I got to work with the same loan officer the transaction ran more smoothly. Was not happy with the repair department at first. Not familiar with this area of AAG. I became intimidated by this lady's approach via phone conversation in regards to repair needs to complete loan requirements. Everything is OK now!

Since I'm not stupid I started out fully understanding most about a reverse mortgage. I started out the process working with two companies, AAG & one other. The whole process did take longer than I had anticipated... over three months. And I ran into a major snag.... company costs of getting into the program. Was very surprised AAG covered those costs and that made my decision much easier. And yes, the person I worked with (Tyler) made the entire experience very enjoyable. He was most knowledgeable and friendly. But on the other hand I was "friendly" as well. True, both companies made sure I understood the program I was going into. As to all the paperwork and signing my name page after page... the process needs simplification. To finish: the reverse mortgage program can be a wonderful help in retirement with financial matters. It's working for me!

We were somewhat leery about obtaining a reverse mortgage. However, we spoke to David ** at AAG and he was able to ensure us how the reverse mortgage would work for us. We had new questions about mortgage for several weeks and David was able to answer them clearly. We contacted two other lenders and each tried to match AAG's proposal but our research indicated AAG's reputation was much better.

I have to call you at your office and cell - not one call was not call was return. You did a very good job, but the last 2-3 weeks before closing - nothing. This was true after it was closed. I felt you got your $, you moved on to greener pastures.

My father tried to do a reverse mortgage on his home with AAG and everything went great. They kept in touch, explained what he needed to do to get things started and then the money game began. AFTER they talk and explain what is needed, then they send out people to appraise which cost a good bit of money (something that if we had to throw around, we wouldn't be needing to reverse mortgage). Then they need this, then they need that. Just a big run around. Then they finally tell him what he has been waiting on, that they will be closing the following week that everything is good.
THEN, just a few days before they close, someone else calls and tells him that they won't be able to do it. They knew all the circumstances from the beginning and led him to believe that it was no problem up until they had got all the money they could get from him. Then to just drop him? That's the way they treat our seniors? Fine, if you can't do it then just say so, don't take the little money they have just to led them on then kick them to the curve after they've given you what little they have. Total SCAM!!!

Consistently lacked in communication between myriad officers and staff. Communication with one officer in particular was so frustrating that we considered terminating the application several times. Due to incompetent management there was inconsistent information with slow response to issues. There was lack of full disclosure until action has already been taken.
For example, we requested a fixed rate mortgage, not an ARM but found to our dismay the final papers contained an ARM. Monthly statements contain cost line items not identified except by 1 word. What level of home mortgage insurance does HUD provide based on our mortgage document, not some unfounded forward projection? We would not recommend your firm to other interested applicants.

I was researching info on HECM's online, filling out a form and was contacted by AAG before I'd even completed it - I did not initiate the contact. The person who contacted me stated he could give me more specifics after 'running some numbers' and would contact me in a few days. AAG (through CBCINNOVIS) made a hard inquiry on my credit. I gave neither verbal nor written authorization, nor would I have. Other HECM providers contacted me and were very upfront and used the numbers I gave them for estimates and made it clear anything more solid would require a hard inquiry which would require my permission.
The hard inquiry had a very small effect, but was done without my permission. Although the information I received was useful (hence two stars instead of just one) I am not currently interested in applying for any type of HECM but like to leave my options open and be informed. Due to my experience with AAG's aggressive marketing and the hard inquiry I didn't authorize, I do not intend to do business with AAG.

William ** was our loan officer and he was wonderful. He did a very fine job of keeping us informed and up to date on the process, answered all our questions and handled the problems that arose. We were not happy with the funding group, FNC Finance. They took so long to get things together and process the loan. We started this process in the middle of January and finally closed on May 11, 2017. We will address this with AAG personally. It seemed that the right hand did not know what the left hand was doing. We are very happy to finally get it done, but what a lesson in patience we had to learn! Thank you for providing this Consumer Review Form.

I started with my initial contact on March 19th and sent in my mortgage statement for the agent to review on March 20th. After two months and paying almost $600 for the appraisal and the education course. AAG could not help me with the loan. Our appraisal showed our value to be $240,000 higher than the existing loan and they still could not find a way to replace the loan and provide assistance. This is incompetent to take the process this far and not be able close. Very disappointed!

I had been putting off looking into a reverse mortgage for years, even though I was pretty sure I was more than qualified. My first attempt turned out to be somewhat questionable so I checked other companies and read good reviews for AAG. I am so glad I did. The first company almost scared me off from going forward but once I encountered AAG and, in particular, Robert **, everything couldn't have been easier. Fast, reliable and HONEST. He made everything clear to me, guided me when I had questions and made the entire process remarkably easy. I highly recommend this company if you have any questions or uncertainty moving forward on a reverse mortgage.

The whole process took longer than I expected. They seemed to ask me for documents, one at a time. Some I had to submit more than once. AAG has no representatives in the Seattle area therefore everything was done over the phone or via email. They did respond to emails and phone messages without delay. Overall, I guess it was an all right experience but it could have been better.

Reverse Mortgage: I learned so much and was very well informed by my advisor Sergio **... I knew very little about the procedure and learned it was more like an equity line of credit. Sergio and his staff were very efficient, followed through and answered all my questions.

Hello! I was in the process of obtaining information for a Reverse Mortgage with representative Sean **. Before making any decisions, I wanted to make sure I understand the process. I had several questions. The representative stated they could not do until I completed a financial assessment etc. In my opinion I do not need to do that at this time. I already know I qualify for an FHA Loan and reverse mortgage. I also do not want my credit check ran at this time due to I had a score of 825 and due to re-finance shopping it is now about 790. So until we get down to at least ballpark figures, I am not going to continue to have credit checks ran and then find out the company is not in the ballpark of offerings. Mr. ** became very angry and informed me that I did not know what I was talking about when it came to Reverse Mortgages when I explained what other lenders had informed me about reverse mortgages?
I did not disagree with Mr. ** since this is the reason, we are discussing. In my opinion it is Mr. ** job to explain the process in a professional and courteous manner. I informed Mr. ** that the home was a Manf. Home built in 1989. I already know the home qualifies for a Reverse Mortgage. Then Mr. ** then appeared to become very flustered and informed me that the home probably did not meet qualifications anyway. I stated if it did not qualify then they could not do a loan. He stated thanks for wasting his time and hung up. I would expect representatives of the American Advisors Group AAG to be professional in manner and courteous to clients. Mr. ** was neither professional or courteous and was very rude. Please review the recorded conversation tapes if recorded. I am sure Mr. ** does not represent AAG using this attitude and manner. (Maybe he was having a bad day but this is no excuse.) Thank you.

The entire transaction moved along very well with Felicia constant oversight. We scheduled our closing for 4/24 at 10am. On the 21st we received a call that EOM business was booming and we may be bumped but a supv would call over weekend. No call, no closing. Very irritating. Lawyer showed up next day but we were left hanging with no communication. Not the best way to close an otherwise outstanding transaction.

I have the utmost praise for AAG and the professionalism that was displayed during the entire process, from the application to the closing! Our reverse mortgage has provided my wife and I with funds for emergencies and also a line of credit for the unforeseen in the future and not to mention the elimination of monthly mortgage payments (what a blessing that is). I found my experience with AAG to be very enjoyable. This was due to my agent Debi **. She is a true professional and should be the ambassador for AAG. She left no question unanswered. She actually answered my questions, before I asked. She is truly concerned with each client and treats them like we are her ONLY client, when in fact she has many at one time she is dealing with. She made this process very pleasant and fast. I would recommend Debi to EVERYONE!!!

We have been considering a reverse mortgage for several years. We have received many different opinions and most of them were negative. However, it always appeared to be something that would work for us. I simply consider it as an interim finance vehicle and I am very happy we finally did it. The staff at AAG has been very helpful and professional.

The reverse mortgage ensures me that my spouse would not encounter financial difficulty if I pass away before her because her income, being less than mine, would not be sufficient pay the mortgage as well as her other obligations. Now that we do not have to make mortgage payments, we will be able to build up our savings account to an acceptable level. At the same time, we will be able to afford more of the comforts of life for the rest of our existence.

Unfortunately I had to switch the FHA financing for a purchase loan and when we tried to pull an FHA case number AAG had already pulled one. The borrower they had pulled it for was deceased for a reverse mortgage and they never cancelled it. And when we asked them to transfer the case number they gave us a canned response. When I called and politely asked for a rush they said it is a process to transfer for it but since it is a different borrower they only needed to log into FHA and click on transfer. They delayed the closing of the purchase loan for a week and I don't appreciate being lied to.

I started the loan process nine months ago. I'm 63, my house is paid for, credit score 800+, and I have a good income. A lot of paperwork to start with and that was just the beginning. I overspent on projects along the way, because my loan was closing soon, not. Expect no one to return your phone call, EVER, expect repeating paperwork. After nine month nightmare my credit score is 700 and I'm starting the process over with a local company. Avoid AAG at all cost. The most unprofessional company that I have ever dealt with!

I was the non-borrowing spouse, and I was supposed to be able to live in the house until I died, as long as I maintained the property, paid the taxes and insurance. FIRST, they went behind my back and paid the taxes even though they were not past due. Then they said something was on the title that THEY PAID, and I couldn't get proof. So they took away my non-borrowing spouse exemption and dragged me into court for foreclosure.
Their own attorney said he felt it was a mistake but he was limited in what he could do. AAG said there was nothing they could do and I had to pay off the loan. They sent someone by the house every month to look around, look in the windows and then charged me for it. Seriously, the same cat was sitting in the window before my husband died and now.
I even contacted Quicken loans reverse mortgage department and they said it was ridiculous and it seemed they were just trying to screw me around. Just because they made the mistake, doesn't entitle me to have the exemption back!!! Needless to say, I did get a loan to KEEP my home and I can't wait to tell them what they can do with their service.

The gentleman I worked directly with was extremely helpful in completing this "NIGHTMARE". The closing department was totally unprofessional and extremely difficult to work with. Two scheduled closing times/days came and went with no one showing up and NO NOTICE from the closing department that no one would show up at the scheduled time! In addition, there were several other instances where they botched information gathering. All in all, I'm am glad it is DONE, but wouldn't wish to go thru it again!

Very good overall. Everything explained very well. The only drawbacks were long delays between steps, sometimes with no communication. I began the process at the start of June 2016. The loan closed March 9, 2017. Before that were hurdles that had to be met, not all of which AAG had control over. There were various persons handling my case, which likely also contributed to delays. I was very pleased with the service in the final weeks, particularly with loan officer Bryan **.

We started our loan in Jan this year. It was funded April 11. That's three months. A lot of the problem was CBC not reading our credit report properly regarding our American Express account. They thought we had two accounts and it took two conference calls and quite a bit of gathering information to finally get them to realize we only had one account, which was current. The amount they were concerned about was $20.00. I reviewed my three credit reports and it was obvious from them that I only have one account with AMX.
I am now told I will have to wait another 3 to 4 weeks before my account is set up so I can start withdrawing the funds. That's going to make it 4 months. I don't know why it should take that long. Good thing I don't need the money right away. The three people I dealt with at AAG were very helpful and it was a pleasure dealing with them. As I said before I can't see why setting up the account after the mortgage has funded takes so long.

My experience was a long waiting period due to a loan with another lending group many years ago that was no longer open but the lending group did not show that the loan was paid and closed. When that process was completed, the closing with AAG was swift and very accommodating. I am very pleased with what transpired and I would recommend many people to inquire about the process that AAG offers to qualified customers.

The amount of paper to be signed is astronomical. My wife and I spent three hours total in two sessions signing paper forms. I handed over the rights of my life to the military with one signature and an oath. Absolutely ridiculous to have that much paper to sign. Other than that everything went very well and I received what I needed.

This was an exciting and enlightening experience that I would not have missed even without the money to make the balance of my life easier. The personnel who worked with me were as professional and knowledgeable as any I have encountered. Cory ** was so helpful and never failed to furnish me with the answers to sometimes dumb questions, that I had for him. His great personality always made me believe he intended me to understand the process in every phase. The whole process from application to finish lasted approximately sixty days, and I was made aware of any changes that affected me by Cory and Robert ** several times weekly. My experience was a nightmare! Not only was the applying for the mortgage, to say the least, was terrible, it didn't end there... I had a roof leak and contacted my home ins. company. They approved the repairs and sent the check to AAG to disperse the proceeds. This was in January... It's now March! I called them this morning to say they still owed me $130 and they replied that the final inspection fee was $130. They had not told me this beforehand and since the roof repair had exceeded the original amount because they had to replace water damaged wood on the roof, I was counting on that money to help pay the overage. The help I got was "I do apologize for any trouble this may have caused you but there is nothing we can do. You were told of the fee." This is soooo untrue. I detest AAG and all their "helpful employees"!

The experience with AAG was a bit chaotic. Greg, the mortgage consultant was very helpful and a pleasure to do business with. This was completely opposite where the loan processor depicted the following behaviors: careless, condescending, rude, unable to clearly and succinctly documentation requirements and just overall hard to do business with. It was only thru Greg's efforts that I continued with AAG and did not switch to another reverse mortgage provider.

Our representative was Robin **. He was so helpful. Even when we thought it would not go through, he encouraged us to stay positive. He always made sure we understood everything. I would most definitely refer relatives and friends to AAG. We tried to do a reverse mortgage 2 years ago but did not have enough equity, but our representative kept in constant contact via email until we were able to start the process. So, I would suggest if you think you do not qualify still contact AAG to see what you can do to qualify and then they will stay with you until you are ready to begin. I don't know if it is possible to streamline the Reverse Mortgage process, in light of all the government and legalese imposed sanctions, but it would be welcome! My particular case required over 3 months to process and the clearcutting of 3 acres of old growth forest to provide enough paper (not to mention writer's cramp from signing 3 reams of 8.5 X 11 sheets of paper... in triplicate)! All that aside; the aforementioned negatives were ameliorated to a great degree by my personal AAG representative Ms. Aline **. She took great pains to walk me through the application and processing of this Reverse Mortgage. At all times she was pleasant, professional, extremely knowledgeable, and a veritable joy to work with!
So to sum it up, I now have access to the cash equity of my home, and I have survived the experience with only minor impact from the aging process! I am extremely thankful for all the extra efforts of Ms. ** and the help she provided for me to have a more secure retirement. AAG and its very competent people provide a valuable service for those who choose to avail themselves of this financial instrument. Kudos!

My overall experience with AAG customer service has been negative. When AAG needs something from me they use unnecessary high-pressure tactics and threatening letters to get a response. When I need something from AAG, I am faced with red tape, no call backs, long waits, and disrespect (when given incorrect instructions). I recently requested payoff numbers for Feb and Mar be mailed to me. When they did not arrive, I called. They erroneously emailed them instead (I needed a paper copy). Now the Feb payoff numbers will arrive in March.

Here are a few suggestions. First, most people you are dealing with are elderly. Talk a little slower, our ears are old and it takes time to absorb what is being said. Make sure the cost amount is upfront as much as possible so it is not such a shock at the final signing. Return phone calls as soon as possible, again our generation is still in the mode that this is the way business is conducted. Holly was a joy to work with. She helpful and knowledgeable.

Mike ** jumped through many high hoops to get this deal done. The amount of paperwork was staggering and unexpected, as were the complications which arose during the process. Again, Mike showed dogged determination, perseverance, patience and professionalism. We felt like he could be trusted, and he explained everything when asked. We felt that he was on our side through the entire process. If his performance were the only criterion, then a solid five stars would be the proper rating. However, the unbelievable amount of red tape and complexity makes that rating impossible for the overall experience. A reverse mortgage was our best option. It worked for us, because Mike made it happen.

I have been waiting to be approved for a reverse mortgage for over a month and have just found out that I have been approved. I was getting different answers from two different individuals. When I questioned Bob (the person handling my loan) he told me that if I wasn't happy I could cancel my loan. What? I have filled out tons of paperwork sent in two years of tax returns, had an appraisal done only to turn around and cancel? We about to fund so why would I cancel. They need to get someone in there that takes better care of their customers.

It is easy to see advertisements for a reverse mortgage and say "That looks easy, I think I will do that.” As with any business project there is much to do to get from the start to the conclusion. With a reverse mortgage there is an immense amount of information to be gathered in many data areas. There is education for the borrower so that they can understand what the process is and what it encompasses. There are forms and forms and more forms but, it is all part of the process much of it mandated by the government to protect the borrower. This is where a company like AAG works as your advocate. Their professionals work these issues everyday and do make the process easy for you. They not only work with you but with everyone involved and then keep you informed. I found their folks to very professional, courteous and personable. AAG and a little patience will take you to a successful ending.

I received about 8 inch thickness of confusing, frustrating paperwork during the long process. Many of the tables that were provided were inconsistent with previously received tables in format and information and were not easy to understand. The final effect was good and everything worked out well.

It was super to work with AAG. Their representative Michele ** was so knowledgeable and explained every step of the way. I never had to call find out. She stayed on top and called, emailed or text me to keep me informed. The process took 60 days. I have been explaining to everyone I meet about the Reverse Mortgage. It has taken away the fear of not making it thru retirement.

I am not sure how it can possibly take over 60 days to complete a reverse mortgage when everything seems to be moving with no issues. I have responded to every request for information or documents quickly and accurately. I completed the counselling and arranged the appraisal quickly and without any problems. There were no issues associated with the appraisal like repairs needed, etc. I have perfect credit, I was told perhaps the very best score ever seen. How can it keep dragging on? It has now been 45 days since the appraisal was completed and there have been no issues that should slow things down. I am thinking I should have selected a different mortgage provider but I don't want to start over.

I have been trying to get an application completed with people in the Atlanta office. I am an independent contractor for an insurance company and get a 1099 at the end of the year. They keep asking for my W-2 forms. They don't know the difference. I have reached my wits end with them and am contacting my congressman for advice. I'm hoping he can give me other options to try.

Our only refinancing in recent years was a brief and simple refi with our existing mortgage holder - probably signed a total of 5 pages of documents, and spent a total of 1.5 hours of our time. AAG's process seemed very cumbersome and survived only with the assistance of helpful, knowledgeable professionals. I would be remiss if I failed to mention that Linda ** was indeed most gracious and patient, accepted calls at all times and promptly came up with exactly the info we needed. We felt that we would not have followed through without her guidance. We are glad we did!

I assisted my 90-year-old mother with her reverse mortgage application at AAG and am very pleased with the thorough and frequent communication offered by our reverse mortgage professional. There were no surprises from start to finish. AAG's representative explained all steps required to complete the loan and worked hard to accommodate my aging mother's needs. I especially appreciate the personal attention provided to mom. Although mom preferred to travel to the office, AAG offered to send the necessary persons to her home if needed. Our loan agent personally met her in the lobby and ensured she did not have to walk far.
In the end, there was a small discrepancy which AAG corrected in good faith and honesty. I spoke with other companies about mom's home equity conversion mortgage and although we were offered what sounded like better deals, in the end AAG offered the best combination of good rates and excellent service. I highly recommend AAG for a home equity conversion mortgage.

The people I dealt with were always considerate. My biggest issue was the long time it took to complete my loan. It took months. I think the interest is too high; I believe I had more Equity, and the final amount allocated to me was not all of it. I should not have to wait one year for the rest of it!! I have requested twice for a statement showing the interest amount by month so I can pay on it so that my beneficiary won't have to when I'm not on this earth anymore. From our first contact with AAG, we were treated with the utmost courtesy and efficiency by everyone we consulted with. Our loan advisor, Felicia **, answered our questions completely and succinctly. She notified us when people would be coming to see us, and informed us as to what would be happening. The whole process was comfortable, and happened very quickly. Most important was the fact that whenever I called for information, if Felicia was not available at the time, she would call back right away, and answered all my concerns. If it were possible to have negative stars I would be at least at a negative 5 stars. I can't begin to express the stress and "torture" that AAG put us through. The process started in early October 2016 when we sold our condo and signed a contract to purchase a villa with a closing date of Nov 14. This type of purchase requires a payment of roughly 50% of the purchase price down. Our credit is in the excellent category and we have other assets such as rental properties, 401K, etc. We were told that our original folder was clean and there should be no problems.
This is when our problems began. It's unimaginable the requests that started happening. Duplicated requests. No possible relevance requests. Nov 14 came and no closing. We were told on the 14th we were approved with a list of 8 conditions. These were all minor documents that were provided the same day (7) and (1) the next. It kept going on and on. There was never any type of explanation other than one AAG employee starting that they do thousands of these loans monthly and we would just have to wait.
There are only a handful of companies that process these types of transactions so their customer care or concern does not exist. Our only hope is that more companies, Banks become involved with good customer care and put AAG to shame. I would imagine that if you are doing a traditional reverse mortgage you can expect better results, but not guaranteed as it appears that about 20% of the reviews refer to unreasonable delays. Finally, on Dec. 30th we were able to close. The product is a good one and it's just unfortunate that AAG has a captive audience and deals with folder numbers -- not humans. BEWARE!

I was totally frustrated with the length of time to process my request, not to mention disappointed. We've had quick and timely responses from Sylvia **, but every time we called to check on the progress we were told, "We're working on it." It took from the end of July to the end of December to finally get a check and at this point I'm not even sure it was worth it. If I had to do it over again, I would find another source other than AAG.

We found that the reverse mortgage process took much longer than we expected or were told. There were many delays and hassles, and we were definitely not satisfied with some of the employees assigned to us. It was frustrating, exhausting, and very difficult for seniors with all our limitations; and we felt that many mistakes were made. However, we finally passed their requirements and received the loan. We worked primarily with Scott ** and Taylor ** throughout the process and they were both excellent at doing everything they could to make the loan happen. When a judgment against the title in my name for $50 was discovered by the AAG legal team, Scott researched the lien to find that I was not the person the judgment was against. When at the end of the process, certain forms I had submitted were thought not to have been, Taylor did what was necessary to show that indeed they had been. Scott checked with us all along the way to make sure we were good with what was occurring from start to finish, and both Scott and Taylor responded to all questions or concerns we had in a very professional manner. If we ever sell this house and pay off the current loan and decide we want a reverse mortgage on another property, I would not hesitate to use AAG again. And I hope that Scott and Taylor are available to work with us again!

At first the loan processor was easy to contact. As the process continued, he became harder and harder to reach. The loan was originally to be a fixed rate interest - the outcome was an ARM which we did not want but felt compelled to continue because of the approval process. The whole process seemed a bit confusing due to the lack of contact.

Debi **, my AAG rep, deserves 5 Stars!!! However, her coworkers hiccuped a few times during the process and caused numerous delays. At one point, I was even asked to step in and contact my previous lender to expedite a 24 month payment history. It was clearly their responsibility and it angered me that they would ask this of me! I was told funds would be deposited on a Monday, and that did happen until midday on Wednesday.

When you call them and want to know what is going on with the processor, they never call back and even though we leave a message to call back. We call 3 people that are AAG employees and they don't call back. They don't know the law in WI, and we had to get hold of our state senate. Then she got hold of them and stated the owner could do the work, but they need a purpose to go ahead with our closing, and now haven't heard anything from them. My rating with them is 1 star.

This was a wonderful experience for me. It is not as complicated as one would expect mainly due to the expertise of the agent handling my account. He checked in with the progress faithfully each week and when other documentations were needed he walked me thru that easily. The only thing I would remind anyone is there will be a lot of documents to fax or email so be prepared for that in advance. My scanner got a real workout!!! The process took too long, almost 5 months. Communication among AAG reps. wasn't always the best. There were times I knew the info. from one rep. and then had to share it with another AAG rep. AAG in-house communication could use some improvement. My loan advisor India ** was pleasant to work with and professional, whether by email or phone.
Secondly, I was disappointed with the small line of credit extended to me for 2016. I thought it would be higher based on the large amount of equity in the property and the small loan balance I owed B. of A. Bank. I was unhappy with the escrow account withheld for taxes & insurance. The amount withheld is larger than the initial line of credit available to me for 2016. It would have been more helpful to me financially, if the original line of credit were larger and the escrow acct. eliminated. I am pleased to no longer have a monthly mortgage payment. One less bill to pay. I relieved some of the pressure.

The frequent forms, telephone calls and dealing with the IRS for information did have cause for concern, however, our agent Brad **, CSA was consoling throughout the process.

Your firm was recommended by my insurance carrier USAA. Initial contact was good, but in succeeding encounters I was shifted to a total of FIVE different contacts, some of which were pretty hard to reach, and most not too informative, with the exception of Lynn **, who is my pick of the litter and the only one who weekly updated me on progress. It was a little confusing on how matters proceeded. You evidently employ several outside firms to perform various functions, requiring me to interface with six different entities, including a bank and law firm, as well as title searchers all over the country. I was not in a financial bind when starting the process, which was noteworthy because it required about 15 weeks from start to finish. Another negative feature was the signing of 50 documents TWICE with the notary public. The upside was we did not have to travel from our home for any of these events. They came to us.

I called AAG and got a very nice person Anthony. He did explain everything to me. Well I had a few more questions after talking to Maria. My house was appraised at a fair price. Anyway I wanted to get a mortgage to pay off some bills and do some repairs to my home. I got a welcome letter saying I was approved for a loan. I did get a letter stating I needed to repair or replace my garage door. Well I decided to get an estimate to replace both doors. The appraiser said my roof was fair. I also wanted to get my roof done with gutters. I got estimates for both. Well it wasn't worded right as they wanted a certain percentage down. Maria called me and told me the contractors had to agree to get paid after job was completed and loan was approved.
Now if I had the money I wouldn't be looking to do a reverse mortgage. She told me they have contractors that agree to this payment after service. I asked her who they were. She did not tell me. Now I realize she may not have had it right in front of her but she could have let me know later. I want my contractor anyway which I have the right to do. So if the job or loan isn't approved I have to pay for it???
Well the big ZILLION RED FLAGS WENT OFF when my brother was over & I wanted him to ask some questions about this process. Well Maria said she could not talk to anyone that was not on the loan!!! She brushed us off and my gut feeling was this is a scam or not legit. I'm the person on the loan and legally I can have someone ask questions as long as I ok it. Now if my brother called them and asked questions that is a different story. I'm 71 have all my senses and if I want someone to ask questions so I understand things better that is MY CHOICE! This disturbed me very much and looking into a couple of other companies they don't have a problem with it and in fact welcome it. Also their charges are a lot lower than AAG. I'm very nervous about going forward after this experience. The initial conversation with Anthony was great but getting to this department gave me a not so safe feeling.

My wife and I applied for an AAG Reverse Mortgage late last year and were approved in January 2016. Our AAG rep was extremely knowledgeable, and kept us well informed throughout. I cannot tell you what a relief it was for us to know that we could stay in our house and not be forced to move because we needed access to cash. I have MS and I find myself in the "doughnut hole" as early as April. The cost for my prescription drugs and copays is $8K - $10K per year. Had it not been for the AAG loan approval we would have been forced to sell our home and downsize or find a rental that would lower our monthly costs. We love our home and are eternally grateful to AAG for giving us the a way to stay here and not to have the worries about our budget each and every month.
I felt especially happy because I had so much guilt associated with my medical costs and that the only reason we would have to move was my fault. The program is better than I thought. Each month our balance of available money increases because we haven't had to use any of the money yet, so it is just like having a savings account. This feature is incredibly important because it increases our available cash balance each month. What I'm trying to say is that it is very beneficial to establish the Reverse Mortgage as soon as possible instead of waiting until you are out of cash and need funds immediately.
This fact wasn't apparent to me at first, but now I see that the AAG loan amount isn't a fixed amount based on a percentage of the appraisal value of your house. Instead, it is the starting point for an account that makes cash available if you need it but then acts as a savings account each month you take out less than the growth associated with the Principal Limit. This may sound confusing but trust me, I figured this out during the 2nd month our loan was in place. Thank you AAG. We cannot tell you how much we appreciate the loan you gave us.

Very tedious application and approval process over several (~5) months during which numerous e-mails and phone calls reminded unanswered/-returned by AAG; except for one person (Jeana **), other stuff involved seemed to lack professionalism, and/or were overwhelmed by their amount of work to do; RM is registered under two different loan numbers and the tediousness returned when it came to handing back originals of documents (tax returns) provided during the application process.

Services of appraiser (advised inaccurate detector information & omitted response to at least 2 other matters, as advised by AAG) lacked completeness & accuracy. Services of AAG processor were often VERY slow, with questions sometimes never responded. Believe lack of accuracy & processor attention was cause of extremely slow handling of loan. After funding, handling has been good.

Brian is absolutely wonderful. He kept us informed all the way through the process. He never minded answering a question and always was there for us. As a retired loan officer I know the importance of customer service and he always went above and beyond. We are very grateful to Brian to help us through our loan process.

Everything done by Mr. ** in Georgia was outstanding. Very accurate on time and kept me informed every couple days. When folder hit California it was a disaster. Sat on things for days at a time, repeated same questions days apart. Didn't wire transfer funds as instructions even when supplied with voided check for routing numbers. Received hard copy check only holding my funds up more. Outstanding in Georgia but wheels fall off in California division... They keep poor notes for reference on return calls. Misspelled my name on documents. Had to initial corrections for 10 minutes with notary. Too bad Anthony ** wasn't able to handle from beginning to end. He is very good at his job and explains things several times to be sure you understand. He's a great asset.

I was skeptical at first but ended up pleasantly surprised at the great service I got especially from rep Kevin who fielded the many questions I had. This was a new area for me and it came at a good time to be very helpful. I'm glad I went with AAG and would recommend them to others who would benefit from a reverse mortgage.

She never quit searching all possible avenues there were to help me with my reverse mortgage, Micheal ** went above the call of her duty to help and for this I am deeply in her gratitude. We had a very good experience with AAG and Milton **. Everything was done in a timely manner, and we never had to leave our home. Even the signing of the application and the closing was done at our home. We were kept informed about the progress of our loan at all times. I would recommend AAG to anyone who was looking for a company to process their reverse mortgage.

Appraisal fee of $499.00 was steep considering he only spent 29 minutes at my house. He did however an excellent and thorough job. I never asked how long the reverse mortgage application would take but think that 10 weeks was a little too long. Satisfied with all else.

The contact people were very polite and courteous. The overall process took 18 full weeks from interview 03/30/2016 to 08/01/2016 to complete. I thought this was longer than necessary. Thanks.

AAG has provided very good service thus far. My only suggestion would be that they update their forms. Specifically, they recently changed the withdrawal request fax number but the request form still shows the old fax number.
