We have purchased several pairs of glasses over the last several years and have been very pleased! The one pair that was purchased however keeps losing a screw even after being fixed with purchased glass screws and also at an optometrist's. The screw falls out immediately as if something is stripped. Any suggestions?

I wanted to try an alternative to the incredibly expensive eyeglass purchases my wife and I had been making. I’ve been using 39 Dollar Glasses for years and I’ve bought from them successfully. Their warranty, speed of service and pricing made me choose them over other eyewear companies. It’s extremely easy to order and if I had any question, I got answered from the phone very quickly. The delivery was unbelievable. I hung up the phone and they were out sitting on the front porch. I got a pair of a gold men’s Aviator with a few bells and whistles – transition, lineless, triple coats and hard lenses. I like the Aviators because of their shape for vision. I’m a doors man and a cabinet maker and a furniture builder. And with my hands, close and far vision, both are really critical. The frames are great. And I’ve got a complex prescription too.
One thing that was interesting, I had a one-year warranty on the frames. One of the temple hinges failed on a previous order. And they sent me a replacement frame - completely free and no shipping cost. It was within the year warranty period. No questions asked except for me wanting to have these failed frames back to them. They do that but didn’t require it. They sent me the frames and I got them in two days.
The products of 39 Dollar Glasses are across the board excellent. But the style that I like does not come in a Titanium bendable frame. That’s a quirk of the product line. At their price, I can order a pair of glasses every year. I'm 73 and I’ve been wearing glasses since I was eight but the longest I’ve had a pair from 39 Dollar Glasses is four years. At one period, when we were strapped for cash, it went a period of three years for a pair of glasses. The customer service is excellent, absolutely superb, courteous, extraordinary and terrific. Their people are helpful, friendly, courteous, very responsive, clear in their answers, candid and interactive. They’re a great outfit.

I love these glasses. The measurements fit my face perfectly. I sit at a computer all day so I need something comfortable to keep me focused. I added the Blue495 Anti-Glare Coating and Transition lenses. This is great when I'm running in and out of the office or house. The sun is always so bright here in Colorado. I love wearing these unique glasses! They aren't a heavy color on my face either but they stick out just enough.

I'm a construction worker and my glasses would constantly get scratched, so even though the union pays $300 a year for them, I was also paying a lot of money for them. There's a place in my neighborhood in Brooklyn that had lovely people and owned by a very sweet man, but their prices were going up a little bit. Also, I'm now retired and on a fixed income, so every penny is a penny saved.
39dollarglasses.com was cheaper and so I thought of giving them a shot as long as they give me a good prescription. I was skeptical at first, so I only ordered one pair the first time and they were perfect. They keep my prescriptions, so they would just ask my name and look it up on the computer. My prescription hasn't changed in a number of years but if it has changed, then I'd either FAX them the new prescription or read it off to them. Ordering them was very easy, but I had to pay taxes because they're out in Long Island and I'm in New York. Other than that, they ship very fast. If I ordered it on a Monday, I had it by Wednesday right in my mail. They'd also include a hard case and a little kit with a screwdriver and a couple of little screws, and the prescription was perfect.
I've had about eight or ten pairs made up by them on different occasions. I'd usually get the square ones and I would have them in regulars and in tinted. Then I recently got the three-pair from them, so I'll always have backups when I can't find my glasses. They were the same aviator style, two regular glasses and one tinted, and are great as a spare, but I use them as my primary lenses now because they're nice. I'm happy with the style and the price. They also have better and more stylish ones that can run from $39 to $89, though that's more for women's collections. I got the $59 ones cause I like the pair a little better. Also, they got two different tints available.
I'm very happy that I've found them and I've turned a few of my friends on to it, too. I find them to be an excellent outlet for it. They're very agreeable. When I broke one of the side pieces, I asked them to send one since I got the little screwdrivers. Then she said to me that they will send a whole new pair of glasses instead. Around my neighborhood here, they charge you just to adjust them even if you bought them there. So overall, my experience with 39dollarglasses.com has been excellent. It's easy to put through and they're pleasant to deal with and were on top of things.

We still haven't received them. Post office says they delivered them but we never got them. Called your company and they said the only thing we could do is to file a claim. So far the post office or your company hasn't done anything to help us recover them.
Hi Jennifer,
We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced with your order. However, as per the phone conversation you had with a customer service representative, we're glad to hear that USPS has located your package!

I started ordering from 39 Dollar Glasses six years ago and I’m extremely happy. I order for my husband as well. They have good products and customer service. I had one pair that was wrong. What happened is I clicked the wrong box, but then they fixed it and replaced it at no charge. They took care of it, so that was impressive when it was my fault. Once, when my husband’s transition didn’t work right. It was also fixed at no charge. So, it's that level of service. Plus, I like that they're an American company and the turnaround time is good. I ordered a couple of dozen pairs in all this time because I lose them and I don’t take care of them properly and I never will.
Ophthalmologists want you think that you have to buy your glasses from them. They offer a $59 vision test, but it’s crazy because their glasses costs so much and it's not affordable. It shouldn’t be a hardship to be able to see and read. I don’t refer products very often, but I highly recommend them. I could do their commercial.

I’ve ordered glasses from 39 Dollar Glasses for five years. The first that I got from them were fine so I have no plans of getting a new company. I’m a pilot and I use the regular specs with automatic tint for my flights because it’s versatile. It does the job, the price is right and the quality is adequate. I had problems with my last prescription. I made a mistake on the way I described what I wanted and that's what the issue was but the customer service was fine and the staff was knowledgeable.

Could not Be happier/Luxe Style for 2/3 less! Shopped other "low price" online sellers for tortoise shell frames. Got Ernest Hemingway 4602 French Shell with progressive lenses (which is usually the real price booster) and they're just great. Literally 66% less than the competition. Very sophisticated look (I use for work as a professional, where this look enhances the "smart-serious" impression). Worried about what I'd get for the price, because so much less than anyone else, but the Rx is perfect and so is the fit. Don't be fooled - as soon as you want anything from other sellers but cheapest options (basic frame, no design, single vision lens) their prices are no better than the local eyeglass store - and sometimes more. And quite surprised most of the "other guys" don't even ask for all the relevant prescription numbers! I'm a fan now and will be getting sunglasses next.

I looked online to see if I can get glasses mailed to my house and I liked the different choices of frames in 39 Dollar Glasses. You cannot beat the price and you actually get a great product. It’s dependable plus you get free shipping. I got six orders in now and I've had my first pair for three years and going. I also bought reading, everyday wear and driving glasses from them. I liked the reading glasses because I have a square head and they just fit right. While the Windjammers looked like the Ray-Ban sunglasses I have and I like that style. They are excellent glasses and hold up great. No issues whatsoever and I've never had to pick up the phone or email. I’ll be using them forever.

The other eyewear companies start off with a better offer, but by the time you get the glasses, they are much more expensive. I chose 39 Dollar Glasses because of the price and I’ve ordered from them three times. The first time was four years ago, I bought read-to-wear glasses and sunglasses. I ordered a pair of glasses a year ago and then I got another one a couple of months ago. I got round black frames under progressive lens twice. It’s fun and cute. In the first pair I had, one of the pieces that goes over your ear was loose and I couldn’t get it tightened good. So, I said, “I'm just going to order another pair.” The second pair is the same. It's kind of loosey-goosey, but I love them anyway.
I still have the glasses I ordered 4 years ago but I had cataract surgery in the meantime, so they're not a good kind of prescription now. They were great glasses and I liked the bifocal portion of it because it is progressive. I liked that on the lower side because I like watching TV with them. Of course, watching TV, you lean back a little. It had a very good, sturdy frame. They were as good as any that I'd ever gotten and the ones that I had now, even though I'm a little disappointed because of the inherent nature of the frame, but the prescription part is perfect.
My glasses were delivered within the time frame. I got them both before I was really looking for them. They were just there and I was surprised. I will most certainly keep using them. I'm actually Turkey-Indian and I get a free pair of glasses every year. It's saying something for 39 Dollar Glasses that in addition to that, I use them because I can go ahead and have a spare and right now I have a pair from the clinic where they always do a good job.

I’ve been using 39 Dollar Glasses for years. Their prices made me go with them. My first purchase was 6 years ago and the ordering process was easy. I have had some hiccups, though. I ordered some glasses for my wife. The lenses that I ordered were too small and there was only a small portion at the bottom that was bifocal. The website should have come back to me and said, “These lenses are too small. We won't be able to satisfy this order because we can't get bifocal in this.” But everything went through. We got the glasses and lo and behold, there’s basically no bifocal in those. But they made it right. They gave me my money back and they gave me some added bucks. It wasn’t a fun process. The website should have something written into that particular set of lenses that it won't work for bifocals.
I also had a couple of lenses fall out of my wife’s glasses but I was able to put them back in. I did have to talk to the manager one time about that. He was professional and did the right thing. I like style and the way the glasses looked especially the transition lenses. Plus, I haven’t had problems with shipping and delivery with them except there was a snowstorm one time but I understand that. It has been a positive experience.

For the most part they are okay, but looking through them at say my iPad or phone the top of the iPad is wider than the bottom, don't want to send them back because it took 3 almost 4 weeks to receive them and I don't have another pair. Probably will not order again from this company. So something is not right.

A friend of mine told me about 39 Dollar Glasses. I've ordered from them three years ago and this time, I got eyeglasses. It's only $39 dollars and you pay for customization if you want the bells, whistles, polarized lenses, etc. They last until I lose them. I'm not a professional nor an optician but they seem indistinguishable from the glasses you pay a 100 bucks for or more. If Iose my glasses, I'm not gonna send out the bloodhound.
Recently, I ordered some different frames with my last order. They came and they didn’t fit my face well. I called up the company and they said they'll send out a return prepaid label. They're on their way back to 39 Dollar Glasses and there was no blowback. When I wanna return a product, I'm always feeling a little bit on guard like I'm gonna get some pushback but Yvonne was very matter-of-fact about it and told me what will be done. There's warmth in her voice but no negative emotions or none of the stuff that gives me pause before I called someone to return an item.

It's always been hard to find a reasonably priced and good looking pair but finally I found this pair that looks great and even better is the reasonable price. I am also very satisfied with the ease of using the website, fast shipping and everything that shows great customer service. Quality of the frame is good enough and satisfactory. My vision was better than perfect until I was about 41, when all of a sudden, I thought I got a blurry copy of the newspaper. So now, I've been presbyopic for 28 years. With presbyopia, the shape of your eyeball changes, then it gets progressively worse until it gets to its stopping point because your eyeball can only change so much. So I had my eyes examined.
I bought a pair of glasses from the optometrist, and then I got a copy of the prescription and bought my second pair from 39 Dollar Glasses. When they came out of the package, I slipped them on my head, and they're perfect. The ones that I got from the optometrist died two years ago, and normally, I get two pairs at a time. Whenever I go to the second pair, I order two more. Then I got to thinking about how I don’t have an extra pair and I've been wearing the ones from 39 Dollar for about three years already, so I decided I better have some more around as the ones I had were beginning to get a little sloppy and don’t feel quite as snug on me.
So I got another pair, but they had a little problem shipping. Also, there was a quality problem. But they have quality test on the lenses. When I called them, they said they got on the ones that had the problem, got them right, and shipped them, but forgot to ship the other pair. It's no big deal. I have the first pair and I have a spare pair after that. Other than that, I have already recommended 39 Dollar Glasses. In fact, I've been perusing the site lately 'cause I'd like a red pair. I'd like different types. To tell you the truth, now that my eyes have stopped and I don’t have to go and see the doctor about them all the time to get more glasses, I'm sure I'll probably buy more. I looked at other sites, and their website is the easiest to use. Finding and ordering them online was easy, too.

The prescription was filled accurately. The frames are beautiful. However, the arms of the glasses were so wide the glasses wouldn't stay on my head, and I couldn't get the little screws to budge. I bought some tiny rubber bands to correct the problem. But they sit crooked, and when I place them on the table, instead of both arms touching the table, one is up at least 3/4 of an inch. But all in all, the frames are nice and I will probably use $39 Glasses again.

My experiences with 39DollarGlasses over the years have always been positive. Their price is reasonable in comparison to mainstream optical shops. I can recall in late 1990s buying a pair of glasses at Walmart which my son was required to have for school and paying over $200 for them. I started purchasing at 39DollarGlasses.com at some point after that, and I bought at least two pairs within the last six months. 39DollarGlasses.com can't be beaten for their $40 plus shipping, and it helps that the owners are ophthalmologists.
I'm pleased with the purchases that I have made. Glasses are things that don't last forever when worn daily, so I have to buy new glasses when my glasses get scratched or if I break them accidentally. 39DollarGlasses.com's website is not difficult to use even for a first-timer. I put my prescription information and choose an eye frame that I want. Sometimes I'd get a reduction on my shipping based on how large my order is. The ones I'm wearing have the spring-loaded clips so I can bend the arm of the eyeglasses and it won't break off. It's a quality hinge and spring that has a lot of give and take in it.

I Googled 39DollarGlasses because I often have my own frames re-lensed. I've had frames that I've liked that I purchased elsewhere that are harder to find in regular retail establishments so I buy those, then I have 39DollarGlasses put lenses in them. They've been helpful in figuring out what lens package I need because being just a regular consumer, I don't tend to read a lot about the different capabilities of different lenses. They've been able to explain to me the different packages, specifically the lens types, what they are, and what they're good for. I don't have a severe prescription so I don't need to go with a higher end lens because it's better for stronger prescription needs.
I like the anti-glare coating. I've had sunglasses done and 39DollarGlasses went above and beyond to make that happen because there were so many issues with the tint. I ordered a lens package last Monday for a pair of existing glass frames that I have not yet received, but part of the delay is with me having to send the frame to be re-lensed. I have recommended 39DollarGlasses.

This is the 2nd time I ordered 39dollar glasses, and this time for myself and my wife. Neither of us is very satisfied with our glasses. I ordered the progressives and the "reading" area is so small I don't even use the glasses for reading. I wish I had got the regular bi-focals and a larger reading area. Also, the area doesn't extend to the edge of the glass, so it is quite limiting. Also, I had to (heat and) bend the frame so it would be tighter on my temples. My wife's glasses ended up costing quite a bit more than we planned on and are also somewhat "loose" on her. She doesn't feel they give her the vision she had hoped to get, and so she doesn't use them very much. Sorry the comments couldn't be more positive. But we have learned from this experience.

I was really pleased with the completion time and the frames are lovely, and a great fit. However, the bifocal portion of the glasses is cut way too low on the lens, and I have to point my nose at the sky to read the book in my hands. My daughter can see great out of one eye, but the vision is blurred in the other, but she really likes the frames (hard to please teenagers)! I've heard wonderful things about the customer service with your company, so I will be following up with a phone call. You can be sure I'll order again if I can get the lenses remade. That'll get you all 5 stars and referrals to friends. Thanks!

Hi Elyse
We are sorry to hear that your glasses are not fitting you properly. You are covered for a frame replacement for up to one year from when your order was placed. We are able to replace the frame for you, at no cost of course. The company contacted me to resolve my issue and offered to purchase me a new replacement Oakley frame and ship to me without charge. While they were still not able to relense the frame with my prescription this was a very nice gesture and I am satisfied with the resolution.
Original Review: April 7, 2017
I sent 39DollarGlasses a pair of Oakley almost new (no flaws or issues) frames to have sunglasses lenses installed and paid up front. It took awhile to hear anything from them and once I finally did I was informed that the process could take 7-10 days or longer. About a week later I get an email that they could not install the lenses in the frame due to "curves" which was very frustrating. I asked them to refund my money and ship the frames back to me.
When I received the frames back from them they were packaged okay with bubble wrap on them. Once I removed the bubble wrap I immediately noticed that the frames had a very large crack across the right bottom of the frame near the nose piece rendering them completely unusable. I sent a message to them about this and they denied breaking them and then said they would do nothing to compensate me for breaking my >$100 frame! I am extremely upset over this and recommend that no consumer do business with this outfit!

After tracking my order of two pair of sunglasses after more than a week it showed that one had failed inspection and were to be remade… Upon learning this I called customer service and asked that because of their mistake day next day them when they are ready. I was told that that would not be available and they were sorry that I was dissatisfied. Apparently my dissatisfaction with waiting prompted them to ship me the glasses that had failed inspection. The lenses were barely tinted at all and one of them was so poorly seated in the frame it is very nearly falling out, right out of the shipping package. I have used this company for both my and my wife's glasses in the past… I will absolutely find a better online retailer to use in the future. Stay well clear of 39dollarglasses.com.

Arrrggghhh…39dollarglasses.com…I wanted so badly to write you a good review…but I can’t. You disappointed me twice – and with the most basic of quality control checks. Your first attempt at re-lensing my Oakley Evade titanium frames ended with the lenses being sent to me not having any edge polish at all – literally rough to the touch. Even though "pristinely polished lens edges" supposedly comes with every lens package. On a completely rimless frame like the Oakley, how do you miss something like that?
The glasses were returned to me for a second time last week. This time, I immediately noticed the edge polish was there – perfect…right? Nope. I opened the temples, sat them on a table and the frames were twisted so unevenly that one temple was half an inch off the table surface! So, you can only imagine what they looked like on my face! Again, how can you miss something so clearly wrong?
I understand mistakes happen, but in both cases, we’re talking about very obvious quality control failures. In the end, I did my best to manhandle my poor frames and twist them back to their original shape, figuring that’s what you would do anyway if I sent them back again. I decided that would be a better option than giving 39dollarglasses.com a third try to get it right.

I was originally thrilled when I found great reviews online for 39DollarGlasses, they are in NY, in THE USA!!! That was good for me, I was happy to use an American Company. The price seemed fair, I liked a frame style and I placed an order. Upon arrival of my glasses, I liked the frames, they fit, I could read (they were progressives). However, I noticed immediately upon opening the package and upon inspection, on the left lens that there was a stretched area on the lens, right in my vision, from one of the films maybe, which somewhat interfered with my vision. However, I wore the glasses for a day.
That night, I drove and was blinded by the lights around me - literally. And was lucky I made it home honestly. I could not see to drive. I have astigmatism and this was in my prescription. Well, the glasses had to go back 1) for the stretched film area of the lens and 2) because I could not see at night at all. I sent a message to the company, I received a prompt RMA (return authorization). Sent the glasses back for a refund. However, I did not get a full refund. But less $79.00? What? Why? I contacted the company to ask why? I was told there is a restocking fee for the progressive lenses and also because they did not find a problem upon receiving them back upon a 'reinspection' by their company. This doesn't seem right? How can you restock 'used' lenses anyway? The lenses had a problem with a stretched film from their manufacturing processes. Had I been able to get a picture of the lens with this issue, I would have done so?
So I spoke to customer service again (have this all in writing) and I was convinced to try the company again with my order - really I liked the frame mostly. They asked to see my original prescription and confirmed that it was all correct. I was promised by the rep, more than one time, that on my reorder it would be double inspected before even being sent to me for accuracy. So I ordered again, giving the company another chance.
I received my reorder and guess what? Lots of issues with my frame. This time, I took pictures (attached)! There were nicks and chips all over the frame. How could this order be sent to me if it was really DOUBLE inspected? And, when I put them on, I could not read/see properly through the progressive lenses. In fact, my vision was so blurry it made me dizzy and also it was 'curved' in such a way a straight line had a bow/arch in it when looking through them to read my computer screen or paper???
I again, contacted the company. The rep said they didn't understand how there could be a problem with the order, they were completely 'baffled', that it was 'double checked' before being sent out and that the prescription was accurate. And that I must be "Polycarbonate Intolerant". What the heck is that??? And I should take the glasses to my eye doctor for their evaluation against the prescription. Mind you the previous order with them, I could see and read fine through the Polycarbonate progressives, just not at night due to astigmatism? And all of my glasses since I was 15, have been Polycarbonate??? The glasses I'm wearing now are Polycarbonate? How can I be Polycarbonate intolerant??? I sent the glasses back, with all of my email documentation asking for a full refund. They say the prescription upon their inspection was accurate.
How can this all be? It's just all crazy with this company!!! Excuse after excuse with them. They have some major quality control issues happening here!!! I did receive a refund for my second order, without being charge a 'restocking fee' for the 'progressive lenses'. However, I am still out my original loss of $79.00 for my first order made with this company. I did go back to the company's website and they have since changed/reworded their warranty from what was there when I originally ordered.
Just be aware of their "worry free guarantee"!!! I think these are horrible business practices, to have to pay a restocking fee for a lens that has a problem from their company - that is completely unfair. I also think it's wrong for them to say 'upon their re-inspection' that things are all correct. How can you even prove otherwise? There is no way to do so? And really, honestly, if my second order really had been Double inspected, how did I receive glasses with chips in the frame??? That is a huge red flag across the board.
I can see others have had success with this company. I wanted to use a company located in the USA. I'm actually very sad that it didn't work out with them, because I've ordered glasses from China, for less, without fail. I think that 39dollarglasses has a quality control issue and they cover this up through their 'business practices' and save themselves losses by charging 'restocking fee's'. I am surprised that there are not more negative reviews. And I do notice from reading through reviews here, that it seems the negative reviews cannot be 'quantified' for some reason... how convenient for them?
I say proceed with caution, especially if you have a progressive lens order!!! Beware of restocking fees, Beware if you ask for a refund, you will be less shipping as well in some cases. I personally just say avoid 39dollarglasses. But if you want to give them a shot, don't say you haven't been warned by someone who gave them not one try, but two.
Hi Kristie, we are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your experience. We see that you contacted us via email due to an issue with the left lens, and we promptly sent you a Return Merchandise Authorization and shipping label to return the glasses to us. We also understand that you were having an issue while driving at night, all of which were addressed during the re-inspection of your glasses. We followed your directive and proceeded with a refund, which was also accurate. As per our warranty, it is stated that if you're returning a multi-focal lens order, it is less a 30% re-stocking fee. If it was determined that your lenses were made incorrectly, we would have certainly issued a full refund, as we do stand behind our product 100%. Please know that we're a very honest company who has been in business for over 15 years and we do not operate in such a manner that you're suggesting. We do see your follow up in regards to the refund you were given, which was addressed promptly.
Upon further review of your email correspondence, we do understand that you chose to have our company remake the glasses for you, which we did. While we do understand your frustration, please understand that we did remake the glasses with a different transition tint, and removed the Blue Shield glare coating, since it was suggested this may be causing a nighttime disturbance while driving. Unfortunately, you did contact us again after receiving the remake pair to advise you were still experiencing issues while wearing the glasses. Upon receiving this information, we issued an RMA promptly to return the glasses to us. Once your return was received, it was sent to our lab for a re-inspection, which again, determined the lenses to be 100% accurate. We also offered to return the glasses to you at our cost and have your doctors office test the lenses since you did not feel we were being truthful. Please understand that our company would not benefit in operating in such a manner. It was also our recommendation to have your prescription retested since it's extremely rare for two pairs of glasses to have the same issues, which you declined.
As per our warranty, if you're returning a remake for a refund, it would be assessed at 50%. However, we did in fact issue you the original refund you would have received had you not opted to remake the order.
If you would like for us to send the glasses to your doctors office for their own inspection, please contact customer service, as we do have your glasses here and wouldn't want a customer to feel deceived by our company.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.

I purchased my first pair of single vision glasses for use with my computer. I had three difficulties: 1.) I incorrectly specified the prescription, using + numbers when the script specified - numbers. 2.) I incorrectly specified the distance between my nose and eye pupil. 3.) I later found a frame that I strongly preferred. Despite my mistakes for which I took full responsibility, 39dollarglasses replaced my prescription with the corrected prescription, corrected pupil distance, and frame choice. An RMA was quickly provided and the new glasses arrived quickly. They completely honored the stated replacement policy without question. The completely met my expectations, and will have a loyal customer in the future. I showed a friend my $39 glasses and a pair from a reputable retail optical shop which cost me $89. I asked him which pair appeared to be of superior quality, and he chose those from 39dollarglasses.
Finally, there is a learning curve to buying glasses from 39dollarglasses. Buying from an optical shop typically comes with the same replacement policy if you ask, and their skilled services, place of business rent, employee wages, and equipment all build on the cost of glasses they dispense. They save you the learning curve. So be prepared to spend some time to learn what is needed to purchase glasses. Next time. I will get the prescription provider to specify the pupil distance and arm length, as well as the lens prescription. Then I will email/snail mail/fax your script to 39dollarglasses, so all I need to do is choose the frames design and size of the lenses (large, skinny, normal).
Thank YOU, Robert! We appreciate it very much!

At $40 a pop, these are definitely competitively priced glasses. Plus with the specials running through their emailing campaigns you can often get 2 pairs for less than $70 (sunglasses too!). The glasses hold up fairly well, but if you are hard on glasses like me, don't expect them to last you longer than a 6-8 months tops. BUT since they're so affordable, this isn't a huge issue. I love the wide spread of styles on 39DollarGlasses.com, alongside the savings and BOGO specials they offer, you can often get several pairs of different styles for different occasions.
Delivery was fast and accurate. No damage to the glasses, and any issue with the frames are quickly resolved through the customer support line on the site. They even will let you return a pair in case you just really don't like them. If you want a few stylish pairs of glasses this is the route to go. They may not be the highest quality, and might eventually scratch or loosen over time, but I'd rather take the option of having 2-3 different styles of glasses to alternate through than 1 pair for $250 from the eye dr.

Trust me I've been wearing for long time and these now are one of my favorite pairs. If you have a strong prescription and like me need the ultra light or even if you don't buy from them.

I ordered two pairs of progressive lens glasses from 39DollarGlasses 10 days ago. I will get the first pair 16 days after I placed the order because I contacted the company today and pushed for a partial shipment. There is no estimate as to when I'll get the second pair because the special reflective coating was defective on one lens and 39DollarGlasses has no idea when their manufacturer will send a replacement lens. I asked to have the first pair over nighted at no expense to me because of my long wait. I was denied because this is against company policy. Cheap glasses - maybe, terrible customer service - absolutely!
Hi Debbie,
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. According to our records, one pair of glasses failed inspection on the 19th and is still currently in production. The second pair of glasses finished production; therefore, we partially shipped them out as of today.
Typically, most orders are completed in as soon as 1-3 business days. However, some orders may need the full 3-7 business days production time that is advised on our website. The production time may vary based on prescription, frame, and/or lens package combination.
Once in a while, unforeseen events can occur and the glasses may not pass our quality assurance inspection at the end of production. Please understand that we vigorously inspect each outgoing order to ensure it is of the quality you expect from 39DollarGlasses.com. Failures in production happen no matter where you purchase your glasses but we will always take the time to correct any issues found before sending it out.
Furthermore, we apologize for the misunderstanding; however, our records do not indicate that we denied your request for overnight shipping on the first pair. The first pair was partially shipped via UPS Next Day Air. Our customer service team sent a confirmation email regarding your shipping. As a courtesy, we have also upgraded your shipping to UPS Next Day Air on the second pair of glasses that are still in production. Once this pair is finished with production, you will receive another confirmation email with a new tracking number attached.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and delay in receiving your order. Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern and please know that we are working diligently to correct the problem. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.

I received my glasses very quickly (plus), however they were obviously flawed (negative). The lenses are ground so badly that they misshapen the frames and I can't see very well out of both lenses. I also noticed that the measurements on the frame (on the website and printed on the glasses are seemingly wrong (negative). The temple length says 145, but I have other glasses with a 140 and those arms are longer than the 39 dollar frames when held together for a physical comparison. The only way to judge if frames fit when buying online is by referencing those numbers, so you see the problem.
I tried contacting Customer Service, but they're only open on EST (negative). This is strange because they ship worldwide. I keep missing their hours of operation because I live in PST, but no problem I'll just send them an email, right? I tried emailing but it's been over FOUR DAYS with no response (negative). You'd think they would be more prompt since they have a 30 day return policy. Also, when I call the toll free number on the top of their Contact page I just get an automated questionnaire about VACATIONS (?). If you try to skip the questionnaire it hangs up on you. Call the toll free number at the BOTTOM of the page, that's the real business line.
Also if you get the lenses remade and they happen to be flawed again you will be assessed a 50% "Remake fee" regardless if it's their fault. Per their website "After the original order is remade, subsequent remakes will be assessed a 50% remake fee." I ordered from two others online eyeglass companies, I received one pair that is perfectly fine so I know it's not my prescription. Bottom line if it's the first time you're ordering online and you don't know which company to order from you may want to skip this company unless you have money/time to burn.
Hi Joy,
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. All outgoing orders must first go through our inspection process before being shipped in order to ensure quality control. However, sometimes, human error occurs and we will always take full responsibility for our mistakes. We have a warranty, which allows customers to have their glasses remade free of charge. Even if you’ve already had your order remade, we would not charge you the additional 50% if the mistake was made on our end.
In regards to the length of your temples, we carefully measure each frame to help our customers gain a better understanding of how they’ll fit. Nevertheless, we apologize if you feel our measurements were off and we’ll be sure to re-measure the frame dimensions once again.
Furthermore, our customer service toll-free hotline is open during our business hours of Mon – Fri, 9am – 5pm EST. Although we ship to international locations, we are an American company with a customer service call center located at our facilities in New York. In addition, your emails were sent from a different email address than the one you provided in your order, and your name was also spelled incorrectly; therefore, it was difficulty for us to look up your order. After sending us your email, you should have received an email from us that advises it will take between 1-3 business days to receive a response from our customer service team. Your email was sent to us on Friday and we replied back to you within 3 business days on the following Wednesday. We are sorry for this inconvenience but are happy that we were able to find your order and subsequently understand your issue at hand.
Moreover, it is unclear to us which number you dialed when you heard an automated questionnaire regarding vacations, as we do not have any automated advertisements associated to our phone number. We have looked further into the matter with both of our phone numbers listed on our website and have not heard anything related to your comments.
Our Worry-Free Warranty states “after the original order is remade, subsequent remakes will be assessed a 50% remake fee. Refunds requested after a remake is performed will be assessed at 50% of the original order price, or you may request a 50% refund in store credit.” However, if the issue with the glasses is our fault, we will remake the glasses free of charge. As stated previously, 39DollarGlasses.com prides itself on offering friendly, fair customer service and we will always correct any issues found with the glasses deriving from a mistake on our end.
According to our records, we see that you have requested an RMA and sent back your glasses. However, if you’d like, our customer service team can issue you a remake of your order free of charge. As a courtesy, we will upgrade your shipping to UPS Next Day Air. You can also change your frame in order to find something that is more comfortable or fits you better. We hope that you are willing to accept this offer and have a better experience with our company. Once we receive your returned glasses with the Return Form attached, we will know how you would like to proceed. Please let us know if you’d like to accept this offer and have your glasses remade. If not, we will continue with the request on your Return Form.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. We hope this response helps address your concerns and resolves your situation. For any further assistance, you can also reach us at our toll-free customer service hotline at 1-800-672-6304. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

The customer services is amazing! I would like to shout out David ** for personally taking the time to help me every step of the way. I left a comment when ordering my sunglasses that I wanted them tinted as dark as possible. He advised that he would put the order on a shipping hold and then inspect them to see if they are dark enough.
They arrived to my house as dark as I wanted but I forget that my entire car is limo tinted. Between my sunglasses being super dark tinted and my car being limo tinted, it made it damn near impossible to see out my back windows when driving which was rather scary! I emailed David ** immediately letting him know that I made a mistake ordering my sunglasses so dark. He was super sweet to get a new pair out to me ASAP with the default grey tint. I didn't have to hassle with shipping back my old pair or pay to ship out the new pair. I just received my new pair and they are perfect!
The package is very nice! It comes in a really nice hard shell case and microfiber pouch. It also comes with 2 mircofiber clothes and eyeglasses screwdriver! Overall, the entire experience was rather pain free! Will be ordering from the site again! I especially love the fact that you can upload a picture of yourself and see what the sunglasses will look like on you! No surprises that way! Love love LOVE 39DollarGlasses! Highly recommend them! Thank you, guys! :)

There are many vendors out there, and my experiences have been mixed. Some orders got so screwed up there never was an adjustment. I just went around and around with $39 glasses because I made the mistake of including UPS in the delivery, despite a fair amount of trouble with them previously I wanted them delivered to me, not my home address where I wouldn't be. UPS is system-oriented. Initiative is frowned on. You don't fit their pattern, you don't get service. UPS didn't deliver. My glasses, after much tracking effort by the $39 glasses CS department, were finally duplicated. Delivery of the originals never happened They're out in the UPS wasteland somewhere. Once the futility of tracking was established, $39 glasses duplicated the order, at no cost to me, and rushed them. I'm sold. I'm their customer from now on. Unless they merge with UPS. The glasses fit quite well out of the box. A couple of small tweaks should do it.

I'd like to be able to say that the glasses are great but I'm not sure yet. The glasses that I ordered my husband seem ok but their customer service is rude... not all of them but Thomas especially. I was told one thing by customer service and he was just rude when I brought it up to him. I seemed to always get him and dreaded him every time. However, if you're lucky to get someone else, they are nice! I'm sorry but I felt like I annoyed him most of the time! Not acceptable attitude to a customer.

They made the wrong prescription TWICE which required checking with an optometrist TWICE to figure out why I could not see a THING through the glasses, then making an additional appt with my eye doc to check that he'd given me the right Rx. The return policy is tedious, with a long form to fill out, and a wait for a return label (which you are supposed to pay for). DO NOT BUY GLASSES HERE. Additionally, you can't get glasses for 30 dollars. They cost closer to 200 dollars, so the name itself is a lie. You've been warned.
Hi Lisa,
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. According to our records, you have contacted our customer service department who has issued you an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) label to send back your glasses.
In regards to our return process, we do not charge our customers for postage to send back their glasses. You should have received an RMA and pre-paid shipping label to the email you had provided in your last order; the pre-paid shipping label covers your cost of shipping. Furthermore, shipping costs are waived on orders over $99; therefore, you were not charged for any shipping cost in your first order. We also issued you a Return Form, which we send to all customers in order to gain a better understanding of why the glasses are being sent back.
We pride ourselves on offering quality eyewear at an affordable price. Most of our single-vision eyeglasses are $39. Any upgrades from single-vision lenses such as progressives, bifocals, tints and coatings come at an additional cost. However, our prices for progressives and bifocals are still less expensive than most retailers.
Please understand that we value each one of our customers and want to accommodate you to the furthest extent possible. After inspecting your first returned pair of glasses, your prescription was found to be accurate. As soon as we receive this pair of glasses, we will vigorously inspect them in order to get to the cause of any issue there may be.
We thank you for your patience during this matter and hope to make your experience with 39DollarGlasses.com a positive one.

My first problem with this company is that they refused to combine shipping, as I was going to send three pairs of glasses to get lenses. Each frame had to be ordered separately, with shipping charges for each. Then, I really couldn't find better prices (now I have) out there, and was going to order, despite my qualms with the company shipping policy. I went to order Transitions poly lenses and it advertised that "anti-glare was included" with an option below to pay, so I went on to the chat session. The service person confirmed that it said that, but that I'd have to pay for it. I said that is false advertising. She contacted IT department. I said I'd take a photo of what it says. When I refreshed the browser, IT had taken down the offer of "anti-glare included." Thomas the manager came on the chat and basically called ME a liar. Beware of this company. So shady.
Hi Greg,
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. However, our description for our Transitions lenses does not state that anti-glare coating is included. You may have misunderstood the wording you are referring to on our website, the lenses included are scratch-resistant but not glare-resistant. We do offer an anti-glare coating for an additional fee of $24.95.
Furthermore, we did not edit or make any changes to the website during your conversation with our customer service representative via Live Chat. We are a company that has been in business for over 15 years and would not benefit from deceiving our customers. We take pride in having integrity and standing behind our mistakes.
In regards to combined shipping, we cannot waive the $5.95 fee for each order because it is not only a shipping fee, but it is a shipping and processing fee for each frame.
We thank you for reaching out to us with your concern. If you have any further questions, please let us know and we will be more than happy to help you.

There is some serious confusion between the text on the website and the reality of their turnaround. Their website clearly says it should take 2 - 6 days for turnaround on relenses. Their customer support person was very aggressive and said that I should have read the terms when I purchased - not what was on their website. The rep said it takes minimum of 7 days to do the lenses, once they receive my frames. But my frames have been there for 5 days - they just have not yet processed them - so the clock starts ticking once they actually open the package I sent them 9 days ago. I was also informed that it can take much longer. Overall my experience has been very poor. I wish I knew that it would take so long - I would have paid for a more expensive service. To top it off - their customer support rep was rather aggressive. They were not thinking of treating me well, and hoping I would be a repeat customer.
Hi Dominic,
We apologize for the inconvenience and confusion you have experienced. As per our re-lensing policy, once we have received the frame, production time may take anywhere between 3-5 business days to begin; due to custom handling, all our packages must first be sorted through before we begin the production process. The average production time for a re-lensing order takes roughly 7-10 business days. However, as with any order from our site, a failure in our inspection process may require additional production time.
Furthermore, our website does state that most orders ship out between 1-3 business days. However, some orders may need the full 3-7 business days production time. As advised on our website, this does not pertain to re-lensing orders. Our re-lensing production time is stated in the Terms & Conditions, which is sent to all customers via email before the order processing to send in the frame(s).
We pride ourselves on offering a friendly and helpful customer service team and would never want any of our customers to experience anything short of those expectations. We apologize for the experience you had and we will continue to monitor and review the situation.
Additionally, we have received your glasses for re-lensing and are in the beginning stages of the process. Please note that production time for re-lensing orders is roughly 7-10 business days but may require additional production time. Production time may vary based on prescription, frame, and/or lens package combination. Once your order is finished with production and is ready for shipping, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number attached.
Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

This company tries to force you to buy their frames. They're an online company only, so they make up for business costs with that. But then they go one step further to get you to buy their frames. I'm unsure about how it may be if you purchase frames from this company, but having your own frames re-lensed is not recommended. I had three frames re-lensed the first time around and all went smoothly. They were all the same frames, and I ordered two clear and one tinted. So I sent in one more order for tinted. This time different frames, and was told they could not do it because the frame quality was too poor and that I could choose frames from their online store.
Since from experience, I cannot buy glasses without trying them on, I chose the refund. I was not refunded the cost of shipping my frames to them. But no problems so far from me. So then I purchased another of the same exact frames from the same manufacturer I'd sent in originally. I was told these frames are not good enough quality to be re-lensed. I asked why, when those had been used before, and could not get an answer. I requested twice the specifications for frame quality so that I wouldn't keep spending money on frames only to have them rejected. They would not provide those specifications for me.
I then said I will try one of their frames if they can provide discount to offset my repeated costs of shipping and purchasing frames; but if not, then I will take the refund. I was issued a refund. Just as with my request for specifications, any discount was refused. But the worst part of the whole thing was the consistently combative nature of the customer service rep.
Additionally, he had extremely poor reasoning skills, as his responses were repeatedly irrelevant. I was just told that they don't have to re-lense any frames. They don't want to re-lense. VERY poor service. And it simply makes no sense that they will not provide specifications for appropriate frames. It also does not make sense that they will not re-lense the same frames as they'd done before. I was given no explanation for this. Suspicious. But just to warn consumers: If you're thinking of using the company for re-lensing, think again. They have their ways of offsetting costs for what appears to be cheaper rates.

My original experience with 39dollarglasses wasn't the best & they were right about me missing my 30 or 90 day full refund period (I live in Hawaii -- we're a little slower here). Anyway, after my previous 1 star review I did get a couple of telephone calls & emails from them asking how they could make the situation better. We agreed to just making regular lined bi-focal sunglasses instead of the 3 different distances with progressive lenses. I've gotten my new glasses & they are PERFECT!
I'm very happy with my experience with them now & know you'll have a good experience too. Just make sure you get the proper PD (pupil distance) numbers for EACH eye from your eye doctor. I measured mine initially & was off .5 cm... So even though I was somewhat at fault, the company forgave me & remade my lenses & now we're all good. Thank you 39dollarglasses!

I sent my 39 dollar glasses back to them as the prescription was not right. I had my first pair made at my dr's office & they are perfect & great. I tried 39 dollar glasses to save some money getting a second pair which were sunglasses that I could use for driving & reading. I checked & doubled checked my numbers that I input from the prescription into their website. But when I look through the lenses things bend to the left which definitely isn't "right." I missed the full refund return period & sent them back within 90 days to be "inspected" only to be told that they didn't find any problems with them & that I should take them back to my doctor to have my prescription checked. So, here I sit out of $100+ with a pair of sunglasses which are useless. If you are trying to save money, go to Costco or WalMart where you live. At least there will be someone to hold accountable in person. I won't ever buy from them again.
Hi Gloria,

I have bought many pairs of glasses from 39 and was very happy until now. My wife had 2 screws fall out of her sunglasses. Normally any optician would give you 2 screws usually without charge. I contacted 39 Glasses and they ignored my emails. When I got them on the phone they said if they were under warranty they would send new frames??? New frames when you only need 2 screws worth a nickel at the most sounds stupid to me. Ours were out of warranty and they offered new frames with a discount. They refused to give me two lousy screws. In this case my wife and I will get our glasses from a local optical store in the future. Too bad they have such a stupid policy.
Hi Ed - We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your order. We receive our frames as is from our manufacturers with no extra parts, because of this, all our frames are under a free frame replacement warranty for up to one year. Please understand that we are not refusing to give you two screws because of policy, we simply do not have them.
Since your most recent order was from 2014, these glasses are indeed out of warranty, as advised by our customer service department. You were also offered a discount on new frames which we believe is more than fair, especially since your order is two years old. We apologize if you believe that this is unfair.
We have added $20 into your EyeBucks Rewards points to use in the future if you choose to place another order. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

When I found $39.00 glasses, I thought it was a scam. How could they sell me a pair of prescription glasses (sun or regular) for this price? I called and spoke with a very kind gentleman who took my order. The glasses arrived in about a week. However, I, and I emphasize, I gave them the wrong prescription. I could not see out of these and they were useless to me. I phoned the company and once again, they were kind, supportive, non-judgmental and very professional. They allowed me return the glasses and this time I gave them the correct lens numbers. Within a week or so, my new glasses arrived. They are perfect in every way possible.
This company is 5 star to me and I acknowledge their great work, wonderful spirit and I don't know where you could possible get a pair of glasses less expensively. The frames were top notch and of course, the glass itself was most desirable. Having said this, my joy and pleasure was speaking with the agents. They were incredibly respectful and helpful. From now on, I will not ever go to another place for glasses. There were no scams, no come-ons, nothing but glasses for only $39.00. I recommend them highly and suggest you give them a chance. A very pleased customer.

I ordered my glasses on May 4th. I realized over that weekend that these new glasses will have the same problems as my current frames will. I checked and the order had not been shipped yet so I emailed asking if I could get the lenses in a smaller frame. The next day they shipped the glasses out, and then two days later Tifanny answered my email back stating too bad they didn't read my email in time and I should have called, and oh by the way I ordered a lens package where they only give a 50 percent refund.
Well what a coincidence that they only just checked the email the day after shipping my glasses out. And if they shipped them out four days ago, where are they? The last thing it says on tracking is 'label created' and they are still in New York. Stupid idiots. And I didn't 'choose' this lens package. It gave me no other choice. The cheaper choice I wanted was blanked out and wouldn't let me select it. Also, Tifanny has a snotty tone. I am definitely complaining to the BBB. They can't make you choose a certain lens package then tell you there are no refunds on that one; and then conveniently not check their email until after the glasses are shipped out and expect people to think they do good business. And as far as calling, well if they were open any hours that I'm not at work, I would have.
Hi Kathy,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. We're sorry that we could not respond to your email immediately; however, we receive a high volume of emails and respond to them in the order in which we receive them. Furthermore, we are a company that has been in business for 15 years and would not benefit from purposely ignoring emails in order to wait for an order to ship. Please understand that not all lens packages are available for certain prescription strengths. I placed an order on March 30 for new glasses. I tracked the order and saw that the glasses had failed to pass the quality control phase and needed to be redone. 16 days into the order I received the glasses and they were defective. The lenses were loose in a molded frame. I sent them back and changed the order to my old style frame just in case. I waited 10 days and then called to see where the order was. I was told I needed to pay an additional $10 (I did not receive any notification of this). I paid and waited. 8 days later I tracked the order to find that this pair as well had failed to pass the quality control and needed to be redone.
On May 11, a full 6 weeks after I placed my initial order, my glasses arrived. They had failed to polish the edges which on my prescription can make reflective distractions. I called them and they offered to take the glasses back and redo them a third time. I said that not only should they redo them, another 2 week wait, but that I should be offered some type of partial refund or credit against my next order to compensate me for the 2 months it would take to get my order correct. They refused as this was not part of their "policy." I've been a customer of 39 dollar glasses for over 12 years, but they show no loyalty to their customer base other than to satisfy company policy so I said goodbye and will find someone else to buy my glasses from in the future.
Hi Charles,
We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced. According to our records, we have issued you an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) label in order to send back your glasses for re-polishing. We have received the frame and are currently in the process of re-polishing your frame. We always want to accommodate our customers to the fullest extent possible. Therefore, we hope that your new lenses are of the quality that you expect from 39DollarGlasses.com. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and delay on your order. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I ordered replacement frames for my Portland eyeglasses and the frames they sent were too small. I was able to squeeze my lenses into the frames, finally, but not without damaging the Transition coating on the lenses around the edges. I called and asked if there was anything they could do for me considering that my lenses were perfect before I inserted them into the frames that they sent me, which were too small and caused damage upon insertion. They said, "Sorry there is nothing we can do for you" and that was it! Very unsatisfied with this experience and even more so with their extremely unprofessional and discourteous customer service people.
Hi Jeff,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. We pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service that will go to the furthest extend possible to help, so we're sorry to hear about your recent experience. According to our records, we issued you a $10 coupon code, plus free shipping on your next purchase. We're sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with our offer. However, the order is from 2014, which is out of our warranty period; therefore, after issuing the frame replacement and coupon code, there is nothing further we can offer. We will always offer a frame replacement if a customer receives a damaged frame from us. However, the frame was sent out undamaged. The frame may have changed in size, but due to the frame being from 2014, the manufacturer reserves the right to adjust their frame sizes. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I ordered eyeglasses on 4/11/2016. After one week I was looking to get a shipping date. I was told that my lenses had a quality issue that was causing a delay. Finally I received my eyeglasses today on 4/22. When I opened the box I found that the left lens was not on the frame. It was loose in the soft pouch. The eyeglass prescription appears to be correct. The box was not damaged in shipping. When I called to complain I heard more excuses than any contrition.
Hi Mr. Dhoop,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. Typically, most orders take between 1-3 business days. However, some orders may need the full 3-7 business days production time that is advised on our website. The production time may vary depending on the prescription, frame, and/or lens package combination. We always try our best to accommodate all of our customers. Unfortunately, sometimes human error does occur. Therefore, we would have put in a remake for your order free of charge. Your new order number is 616273713. Our team will ensure quality control by having the glasses pass double inspection. You should be receiving a confirmation email shortly for your new order. Furthermore, once your glasses have been shipped, you will receive another confirmation email with your tracking number attached. Additionally, we have added $20 in EyeBucks Rewards points to your account for any possible future purchases. We sincerely apologize on our behalf for the mistakes. We hope this helps address your concern and create a more positive experience for you. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I ordered two pairs of glasses on 3/22/16. As my prescription is pretty strong, I knew I would be outside of the predicted 3-5 day construction period that they tout for 95% of glasses. About 10 days goes by... I check the order. One pair is ready to go, the other didn't pass final inspection. At this point, I expect to be receiving the one pair very soon, as I had paid for two-day shipping. A few more days go by... Still no glasses. I check again, same thing: one pair ready, one pair did my glass inspection. I email customer service on a Friday, April 1st, and am told my glasses will be shipped either that day or the following Monday. A few more days go by, wondering why they haven't' shipped. Message them. Nothing. Message them once again, and I'm told that they will send the one pair that is ready, but that they don't normally do that unless an order is outside of standard production time. Which it was. So I get the one pair on April 12th.
Today, April 18th, I go to the site to check on my other glasses. The site says they were delivered with the ones I actually got!! They were not. This company is disorganized, rude, and in no way customer-oriented. If one pair of glasses is ready, and the other isn't because of THEIR ERROR, they should ship separately, and the company should eat the cost, as their poor workmanship has delayed things. I am also GREATLY displeased that my other pair of glasses appears to be lost. I have messaged customer service about this order, for the 4th or 5th time, and at this point I'm requesting an email on the glasses I supposedly already have!! Never again will I use this site. I will buy my cheap glasses elsewhere!!
Hi Sarah,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. Please understand that we vigorously inspect each outgoing order to ensure it is of the quality you expect from 39DollarGlasses.com and we will always take the time to correct any issues found before sending it out. We pride ourselves on offering great customer service to ensure all of customers are happy. Moreover, your glasses were not lost but were still going through our production process. We hope you understand that we were working diligently to correct the issue, so that your glasses would pass final inspection. Furthermore, we typically send out both pairs of glasses at the same time because they were both under one order; therefore, each order is not complete until both pairs are finished. However, in your order, we shipped out one pair separately due to the extended wait time. We have received a high volume of emails this past month and are answering them in the order in which they are received. For the inconvenience, we have added $15 in EyeBucks Rewards points to your account. Once again, we apologize for any issues. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I decided that I needed to finally order prescription sunglasses as we're moving to Nevada next week. After researching a few online options I chose 39dollarglasses because it appeared that they could get them to me in 2 days. 2 days after I placed my order I checked to make sure they were on their way only to discover that they had not "passed inspection" and would be delayed. I called in (omg the wait time!) and got an incredibly rude young woman. She basically called me stupid because I thought that 2-day shipping meant 2 days warehouse to me.
I pointed out that it never clearly states that 3-10 business days was the norm and in frustration asked for a manager. Dave ** is such an asset to this company. He was polite and made sure that they bumped my shipping to next day and followed the glasses from "tinting" to shipment. He saved my order and has made a customer for life out of me. The glasses are due to arrive today and I can't wait to see them!
Hi Dawn, thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that your problem was ultimately resolved. For future reference, right above where you choose your shipping method (ie: Next Day, 2nd Day, or Priority) states our production time. We will also play back your phone call so we may properly address this issue to the rep you spoke to. Again, thank you for your feedback and we hope you love your glasses!

I shipped 39dollarglasses a frame for re-lensing. I was notified they could not be re-lensed 'because the lens area can not be opened or closed'. I called to explain you have to remove 2 screws to open them, very simple. The service agent and/or tech agreed and reprocessed them. I was not notified of any further problem. I was shipped back a broken frame with new lenses. When emailed them about the frame they continued to say: "We are not responsible for the things we break" (terms and conditions), "The part that was broken is no big deal", it's my fault.
What's extra bad is that I started this order mid-February. I was told the first frame I sent in could not be processed due to missing parts (I had stripped down the glasses to make it easy for them). I then sent in a duplicate frame and left all the parts on and they said these could not be processed cause they couldn't be opened. When I called in about it (cause they open very easily), they said I would need to remove these 2 parts on the frame myself and reship them back (we're talking 2 screws here)! First it was cause I had stripped them down, then it was because I hadn't! I finally got them back - it's mid-April and they broke my frame. I don't trust these people at all!
Hi Mr. Stevenson,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. According to our records, you had sent in your frames for a re-lensing order. However, we first declined to re-lens your frame because the frame you sent to us was incomplete due to there being missing temple pieces. Your second re-lensing order was declined because we could not open the frame properly due to two screws at the top of the temple pieces. After you called our customer service hotline, we went through with completing your order. Furthermore, based on the picture that you sent us via e-mail, the glasses appear to be intact and we see no other flaws. The temple piece screw covers are detached, but this is something that we advised would be necessary prior to starting the process. Most metal frames do not have the cover over the temple pieces; therefore, we did not compromise the structural integrity of the glasses. We are sorry to hear about your experience with our company. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for the response, and the refund. Update: I will change my rating to a 3/5 because I still feel this company benefits from keeping 50% of proceeds from returned items if they don't get them back within 10 days. If you factor in shipping, slow customer service, and a busy schedule that's almost impossible.

So I ordered some glasses and when I received them they gave me a horrible headache, so I decided to send them back. I tried calling while at work, but was left holding for a CSR for over 10 minutes each time. I couldn't be sitting on hold all day at work, so I emailed them multiple times with no response. When I finally got through to someone I was able to process a return. I didn't think twice about it until I checked my credit card statement. They refunded me 50% (so around $40 instead of the $87 I originally paid). When I called (and waited another 10 mins on hold) they informed me that because they didn't receive the glasses within 10 days that it constitutes a 50% refund. (WHAT?!) I tried as hard as I could to get in touch with the customer service department to return these glasses but it was such a headache. I've heard multiple reports from people that I work with that this is a shady company. I should've listened. Buyer beware.
Hi Adam,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. According to our records, we originally issued you a 50% refund for the glasses you returned. However, we then issued you the full refund on Friday afternoon after you contacted us via social media. Please allow 2-3 business days for the transaction to credit back to your account. Furthermore, we apologize for the wait time. We have received a much higher volume of emails and calls this month than we typically do and were answering the them in the order in which we received them. We hope that the full refund will help resolve your concerns. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Finally, I was contacted by 39dollarglasses. There seemed to be a legitimate mistake in their ability to get ahold of me as the only result of my name in their system was not me! There are probably a few hundred people that share my name across the country and one had done business with them several years ago.
My wife had placed the order, so it had her info on it. When I sent them emails, it was from my address, not the one attached to the order. I would have expected them to just hit the reply button to reach me, but no, the fiasco ensued. I still stand by my frustration with trying to reach them by phone, though.
Onto the good part! A few days ago I was reached out to by Dave of 39dollarglasses. He had realized the error and found the right me. He was exceptionally nice and professional. I had to wait a few days for a copy of my prescription to make sure everything was correct. He called me back as promised and refilled the order. I had my new glasses in 4 days. Dave was a pleasure to deal with and the new glasses are great!
I happily recant my anger towards 39dollarglasses and now see there was confusion on both sides. The fact that they searched for the right me in order to resolve the issue goes a long way in my book. Thanks, guys!

I was super excited to receive my order. Two pairs of glasses, $110 total. Upon receiving them, the first thing I noticed was they felt maybe a bit cheaper than I expected. Whatever though. I need glasses and these will do. I excitedly put on the first pair and to my dismay, one lens was completely wrong. It was the opposite of what I needed. I put on the second pair and the other lens is completely wrong. The right lens of one pair and the left of another. I was disappointed but hey, they have a 30-day money back guarantee right? Right? I called their customer helpline and was repeatedly on hold for 15 minutes at a time at which point the phone would hang up on me. I called 6 times in 3 days and this was my experience every single time.
On the third day, I called simultaneously from two phones and logged into their website to send a message as well. Fortunately I spoke to someone that day who agreed to send me a return slip. I also received a response from them via email. I sent a response stating I had been taken care of over the phone. Two weeks went by and nothing ever showed up. I have since called multiple times as well as sent emails and get put on hold nor do I get a response via email. I'm talking 10 phone calls and 10 emails. This is ridiculous. At this point I have chalked them up to a scam. It has been well past the 30-day mark. Closer to 60 at this point. They got my money. The glasses are no good to me. A frame donation at best. Avoid at all costs. Sure the frames are cheap, trust me, they feel cheap too. You can get just a good a deal shopping bargain frames anywhere in town. Thanks for nothing 39dollarglasses.

I was a little hesitant to purchase prescription glasses online but needed glasses on my tight budget, so $39 was hard to resist. Putting my info was easy and thankfully my measurement was spot on. Did it myself so was a little worried. My first order was lost in the mail and according to the tracking info it was at fault to the USPS. Thankfully they replaced the lost package even though they didn't have to, since it was shown "delivered" and they do have insurance to cover lost items. Great and fast customer service! The whole process took about a month for me to receive the glasses, should have been 2 weeks if the postman didn't lose my order. The glasses are good quality and they even came in a case, micro-fiber lens cleaning cloth AND a mini screwdriver (not sure what it's called) to tighten up my glasses. My $500 pair of glasses didn't even come with all the extras my $39 pair came with.
We are so glad to hear everything worked out well. Thank you for your awesome review and welcome to the 39DollarGlasses.com family!

I was hoping to get my new glasses before going on vacation, but really didn't expect them to arrive in time. They arrived earlier than noted on the 39DollarGlasses website and I'm thrilled with my purchase. The prescription is just right and the quality is better than I expected. Each pair of glasses came with a nice case and cleaning cloth, too. My hubby had to tighten a screw on one of the pairs I got, but other than that, they seem to be the same quality I used to buy from a retailer. The only bummer is that one of the pairs I selected is a little large for my face, which would have been avoided had I purchased where I could actually try the glasses on, but I will purchase from 39 Dollar Glasses again but will order smaller frames next time. Good value at a great price; I have recommended 39DollarGlasses to friends at work and to family members.
Thank you for the kind words, Peggy! We love to hear positive feedback from our customers. We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced regarding your frames being too large. For our customers convenience, we have implemented try-on tools on our website. One try-on tool is where you can upload a picture of your face in order to see how the glasses will look on you. The other try-on tool is our printable frames. You can print out each frame to its exact size, and try the frames on at home as well. Furthermore, you can always call our Customer Service Hotline for any advice you need regarding sizing and frames. Thank you very much for recommending our company to your friends and family. My 11 year old granddaughter broke her $300 glasses after having them for less than 5 months. I took them to our eye care specialist, where they told me they couldn't be fixed without purchasing a new $200 frame. I decided to try 39dollarglasses. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses on a Thursday and she was wearing them the following Monday! (New frames for her broken pair wouldn't have arrived until Wednesday). The glasses were great quality (I was honestly expecting lower quality because of the price). I was able to purchase TWO pairs, using overnight shipping for less than HALF the price of replacing her original frame (approximately $80 - I found a coupon code for $15 off each pair). I couldn't be happier! I will definitely order any future prescription glasses from here again.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Bonnie! We're glad to hear your granddaughter can see again. The frames are covered for up to 1 year after purchase. If she breaks the frames but the lenses are okay, let us know and we will send you another frame and you are able to swap the lenses yourself. My initial review was definitely written out of frustration. While I did not receive any direct contact on the changing status of my lenses, I did agree to the processing terms when placing my order and while it was a major tease to see the glasses be completed just incorrectly, I can't say I'm totally dissatisfied until the posted time frame elapses I asked via chat for a copy of my receipt and received nothing. My frame wasn't screwed in right. I called to replace frame in October, the gentleman I spoke with said as long as I was on warranty I could reorder frames multiple times. I called again in December and again was told I could order frames again. I wanted to shop around before I ordered again. Called today was told that it was a one time thing. Communication is key in customer/business relations. After being told twice it would be replaced I find out today it won't be.
Hi Stephanie, we apologize for the miscommunication from our end. All orders have a one year warranty on the frame. If the frame breaks within one year of the order, we will replace it for free. This is not unlimited, this is a one time replacement within that year. However, we are sending you another frame replacement as a courtesy.
Since all our phone calls are recorded, we listened to the phone call in October, our representative stated that you were covered for one year but never mentioned that you could receive multiple frames. In December, you advised our representative that you lost your glasses and were advised that we would make you another pair for 50% of the cost to which you agreed and stated that you would call back. It was never indicated to be a free pair of frames or glasses.
If you wanted to place another order today for your lost pair, we will still honor the 50% charge that was promised to you on your call. If you need frames only, and you already received your one-time free frame replacement, you are able to call our customer service department at 1-800-672-6304 and you are able to purchase the frame only. We hope this clears things up and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I stand corrected. Fortunately, I'm typing this because it's hard to talk with my foot in my mouth. I misunderstood about the way they counted days. Weekends are not included. So they shipped within the 2-7 days criteria that 95% of their glasses go out. They found a small scratch in the left lens. Rather than making me wait longer, they shipped that pair so I could get the glasses and fix my vision. They are going to send another pair once the new lens they ordered comes in at no additional charge.
I get to keep both pairs of glasses for the same original price. THAT is how you do customer service. Thank you 39DollarGlasses.com for standing behind your product and going above and beyond to help me. I am a satisfied consumer, and I will spread the word. I apologize for my mistake.

I'm not impressed. I was told most ship in 1-3 days. Some take an additional 1-4 days. So that's 2-7 days. Day seven. I'm still in the step where the glasses are assembled. They have not shipped them after 7 days. I'm getting headaches because I need the glasses. I thought maybe they'd do better than Wal-Mart. Guess I was wrong. I won't be ordering from them again, and if there is even a slight issue with these glasses, I'll be returning them for a refund. Their customer service person rushed me off the phone too after I called because THEY contacted me first to confirm something. Overall, I'm NOT impressed. I can't prove it, but it *seems* they mislead you into thinking your glasses will ship no longer than 7 days after ordering so that you'll order from them instead of a competitor who takes longer. My glasses were not that complex... Standard no-line bifocal. Seriously, just buy elsewhere. These guys do not deserve your business.
Hi Joel, we apologize that you feel this way about our company. As you referenced, on our website it states that "Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order. A small percentage of orders do not initially pass final inspection, and we may need to redo all or part of the process."
As business days do not include holidays or weekends, today would be the 6th business day since you placed your order. Your glasses have been completed and are ready to ship to you today. An email will be sent to you with your tracking information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I bought a pair of glasses at 39DollarGlasses.com a couple of years ago and had a good experience. Recently, I bought two pairs, one for reading and a pair of bifocals. After I received the glasses and took them to my optician for adjustments, she discovered that one lens on my bifocals was put in crooked, actually warping the frame and making the bifocal like to be unlevel. I thought I would try them for a few days to see if I would get used to them. I probably could have but the bifocal not sitting level was a problem. When I looked at the return policy on their website, I discovered that you have to contact them within 10 days in order to return the glasses. I'm used to the period being 30 days. Now, I realize that this is all on me for not checking the policy before ordering. Still, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I will not order from them again.

This was the first time I have ever bought glasses online. But the price was right at 39dollarglasses.com so I went for it. DON'T DO IT!!! I measured the glasses they showed with both the ruler they provided and backed it up with my own tools. I also measured my PD carefully. I thought everything was all set and I was proud of my bargain and looked forward to the glasses. The glasses came today and they were truly ugly. First the frame (and I went back and checked) were much larger than either the picture or measurements showed, plus they were super loose on my face. They look like the bottoms of saucers, truly horrid. A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.
Hi Rhonda, we apologize for your dissatisfaction with your glasses. However, did you know about our worry-free warranty? If you are not satisfied with your order for any reason, you are able to send it back for a full refund or free exchange for a different pair. You are a couple of weeks outside of this warranty period, but as a courtesy, we will email you a prepaid shipping label to send the glasses back to us via the email address you provided. If it is not in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folder.
Upon looking further into your order, we see that you have a -3.00 prescription and ordered Rimless glasses. For a prescription that is higher than average, they would come out thicker than what is pictured on our website. We have also double checked all the measurements of the frame and what is advertised on our website, and they are found to be accurate. For our own information, did you print out a picture of the glasses or ruler at 100% scale?

The frame was supposed to be expensive - but flimsy and it is bent at a joint. The screw is put it in a wrong direction. The included screw driver is bigger than the screw. Also, I took to local eye shop - they even cannot fix the screw. If they touch it can break. I send an email - no response after 3 days (2 days it was weekend). And their phone CS close at 2 PM PST.

We are not open on weekends and all emails will be answered in the order in which they are received starting on the next business day. We are currently replacing your frame. However, can you verify which screw you're referring to? Upon inspection, our lab did not find any screws facing in the wrong direction.
As a repeat customer with several orders, we are sure that you're aware that this is not the condition in which we usually send our glasses and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding. We have upgraded your shipping to UPS 2nd Day Air as a courtesy. Once the order is ready to ship, you will receive a shipping notification email along with your tracking number. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I ordered glasses online (day 1). The order was put on hold, and I received an email (day 2) saying that. I called (day 2) and was told that the order would be put through and that I would receive glasses in 1-2 weeks. Ten days later (day 12), I'd not received my glasses. So I called 39dg.com to check status. I was on hold for 30 minutes and no one ever picked up. I sent an email and no one ever responded. On day 13, I called American Express which confirmed that 39dg.com had claimed $400+ from me. I then called 39dg.com again; this time they picked up (after a 15 minute hold) and said that although they'd posted the charged, they'd not put the order through. I canceled the order - would not do business with these people. Ironically, when I suggested that there'd been some "incompetence," the response was, "you don't have to use terms like that."
Hi Peter. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced with your order. You had placed your order on Sunday September 27th. Your hold was addressed on the following business day, Monday September 28th, during which you were advised that your order would take approximately 1 – 1 ½ weeks to complete. On the tenth business day (October 9th) customer service had cancelled your order as per your request. We apologize for the delay you experienced, as this is not common of our company.
According to our phone records, the wait times for your listed phone number were approximately six minutes. If you had called from a different phone number please let us know, as we take our phone wait times very seriously. For future reference, there is an option to leave a voicemail at any point during your wait. In this case, a customer service representative will call you back.
We have added EyeBucks Rewards Points to your account if ever in the future you feel like giving our company another try. These points can be used as cash toward future purchases. If you have any questions on how to access this, please do not hesitate to contact us. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced. Thank you.

To follow up on the order I placed a few weeks ago with 39dollarglasses.com, the glasses were finally delivered three weeks and a day after placing my order. I also was contacted by 39dollarglasses.com with an apology for taking so long and a $20 credit to my account for a future purchase.
I decided to go ahead and order another pair of the same style so I'd have a backup pair on hand, and placed that order on Monday afternoon. Today, just about exactly 48 hours later, I was notified that the new glasses have shipped. As I mentioned in my previous review, this is the kind of speed of service I have experienced in the past from this company and had hoped for when I really needed it. Not sure what happened last time, but I'll certainly be ordering again in future.

Two weeks ago I broke my glasses (I am blind without glasses - the broken ones are taped together, but...), so I went to my go-to source for Rx glasses, 39dollarglasses.com. I have ordered from them several times before over several years and always been extremely satisfied with the price, quality, accuracy in filling my orders, and (most important at the moment) promptness. I've had orders in hand in as little as 48 hours after placing them. Not this time. When I emailed customer service about this ten days or so into my wait I heard back (over a day later) that my glasses had not passed final inspection, so I shouldn't expect any more info until they shipped. That was a couple of days ago, and they're apparently still not shipped. Wow.
Hi Rob! Thank you very much for giving our company another chance. We are glad that we were able to reach a resolution that you are happy with and we look forward to working with you again in the future.

I ordered glasses from 39DollarGlasses after reading on their site that they took 1-3 days to make. I paid an extra $20 to ship with 1-day shipping in order to receive them for a trip. I needed them in 9 days, which I thought was a suitable buffer. I even emailed them to let them know when they needed to be shipped out, and didn't hear back. 11 days later, they arrived -- far too late for my trip. While the glasses are a decent quality (I paid $100 for them, plus $20 shipping), the frame is cheaper than I would like, and I was disappointed with their customer service response. I asked for a shipping refund, and they told me that they took "6 business days to make the glasses" because my prescription was higher and refused. I guess I should have read the fine print. There are other online companies that care about satisfaction and will take care of their customers. Stay away from these guys. They're a joke.
Hi Chelsea,
We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your experience. As a company, we are always willing to correct any issues you may have. Please let us know what we can do to help you. Upon looking further into your order here is what we have found:
Unfortunately, we did not receive an email from you telling us when you needed them by. We want to advise that these emails do not affect our manufacturing time because orders are created in the order in which they are received. However, this is a concern to us because if we are not receiving customer emails, this is something we would want to look into. Did you reply to the confirmation email by any chance? If that is the case, please be advised that that is a “no-reply” email. If that is not the case, please let us know.
Your order was placed on 09/02 and was completed on 09/10. We then shipped it via the shipping method you chose and (as per UPS tracking) was delivered to the address you provided on 09/11 making the entire process 7 business days or 9 regular days. If you paid for next day shipping, and shipping took more than one business day after it leaves our facility, your shipping will be refunded. Since that is not the case here, we apologize but we are unable to issue a refund for UPS.
We also apologize that you feel that we have not been upfront with our production time. However, as you stated, on our website it says “Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days”. The next sentence right after that then says “For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order.” We want to clarify that there is no fine print, we plainly state it as it is not our policy or practice to be deceitful. Your prescription that is over a -9.00 is considered a high prescription and would therefore require the extra days mentioned in our “Help” section that you referred to.
We take pride in our customer service and always make sure that our customers are satisfied at the end of the day. If you are unhappy with your product, you are covered by our 100% Worry Free Guarantee. As stated on our website, if you are unhappy with your order, you may contact us within 10 days of receiving your order. When we receive your return, we can either exchange your order or issue a refund. We see that a prepaid shipping label and RMA was issued and sent to the email address you provided on 10/08 and so we do look forward to receiving your return and proceeding as per your directive.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask and we thank you for your patience.

Coming from a family with all 6 members wearing glasses, I was excited to try this and recommend. Got them and they were ATROCIOUS, were not my script or size. No response by email & I've been on hold for 30 min now with help line and finally got one of the rudest, most unhelpful customer service reps. Do not buy, it's a scam.
Hi Hannah. We apologize that you were not satisfied with your order. As a company that has been in business since 2001, it is very important to us that our customers are happy with their purchase. It is not common for us to receive complaints on the quality of our frames, especially the Oxygen frame, which is one of our most popular choices.
We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the size of your frame. Our website offers many features to ensure our customers select the right frame size. Exact frame measurements are listed with each product, we have an ExactFit Try On Tool to virtually try on each frame, and we have an option to print out an actual-size photo of each frame.Ultimately, the selection of your frame size is entirely up to you. As advised on our site, all frames have their own unique sizing, so the Oxygen would come in only one size. If it does not fit, as advised, we are happy to remake them using another frame style, as per our warranty policy.
Regarding the prescription provided, while we are unsure of the actual prescription that was issued by your doctor, you indicated on the order that you have a -3 sph on a -3 cyl, with an axis of 003, for both eyes. While certainly not impossible, our owners, who are eye doctors, have never seen this, as this is a one-in-a billion prescription. We do suggest that you contact your doctor to verify this prescription, as it is very unusual.
Our customer service manager reviewed your phone call in an effort to better understand the situation. According to the call, you used inappropriate language while speaking with our customer service representative. We apologize if at any point during the call you felt she was being rude to you. Our staff does its best to resolve all issues in a calm and appropriate manner.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced with your order. If there is anything else we can help you with, please do not hesitate to ask.

I place my order on the 24, with next day delivery. It's the 29 and I didn't hear anything yet, I decide to call and ask about my order. Guess what? They say my glasses still in production and probably they will be ready by the end of the week if they pass the inspections. How long will take to make a pair of glasses when lens craters make them in one hour? Even Walmart have them ready more faster. So where's the fast and next day delivery part?
Hi, Juan. We apologize for any confusion. On our website, in the shipping section, we state, “Prior to shipping, your order is custom made in our Long Island, NY laboratory to your exact prescription and PD measurement. Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order.”
When selecting your shipping method, we include a notification that states: “Manufacturing takes an average of 2 -3 business days prior to shipping. Please choose your shipping method.” This message ensures our customers are aware that their shipping selection does not affect the time it takes to manufacturer their order.
When it comes to our production time, please keep in mind that you are ordering a medical device that is custom made to your order specifications including frame choice, lens choice, and prescription. Because all orders are custom crafted, your shipping selection ensures that your finished order arrives sooner, but it does not affect how fast we can make your order.
We apologize for the misunderstanding but your order was completed within production time. If there is anything else we can do for you please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you.

It takes way too long for them to make and ship the glasses. On their website it says it will take 1-3 business days to ship most glasses. I ordered them 6 days ago and they are still not finished putting them together. I emailed twice - no answer. Finally, I called and they said that the frame they were using didn't work and they need to order a different frame. So we are looking at 7-8 days of waiting for my glasses to ship (if they actually get them out by tomorrow). I looked around afterwards and found better deals online. Next time won't order from them...
Hi Wesley, we apologize. On our website it states, "Prior to shipping, your order is custom made in our Long Island, NY laboratory to your exact prescription and PD measurement. Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order". Your astigmatism correction is relatively higher than average and does take a longer time to ensure accuracy. The higher the CYL value, the more careful we have to be of the AXIS range. Please keep in mind that this is a custom made medical device and we and will always take the time to send your glasses out correctly rather than quickly, but incorrectly. We did not have to reorder your frame as we have them in our lab. As with your prescription, any little discrepancy will greatly affect your vision. With that said, your glasses were shipped out on the 5th business day, which is directly in line with our posted production time.
With regard to your emails, your first email was sent to us on Sunday, and since we are not open on weekends, the emails from the weekend are responded to on Monday, in the order in which they are received from Friday evening on. We hope you understand, and we thank you for your patience while we custom made your glasses to your specifications. We have added $15 into your EyeBucks Rewards Points to use on any of your future orders. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I sent my frames into the company to replace the lenses. They sent me an email back saying they could not use the frames. When I asked why they were very rude and said they do not have to explain why. I told them I had a duplicate frame and they said to send that. I sent that to them and they replied "We have decided to cancel your order." They claimed that my frames were too expensive and they did not want to risk damaging them. "Because of valuation of the frames, and because we would not be willing or able to compensate you financially for either of these frames, we would prefer to not risk breakage." I would be very cautious of a company that does not trust themselves to not break a frame that you send them. I paid almost $15 to send them both frames and waited a month and got nothing. I am using glassesusa.com now and not having any issues.
Hi Rob, we apologize that you feel this way about our company. However, we have multiple emails that explain to you that we refused your frame because it was broken, very old, and in poor condition, including the second pair you sent in. All of these factors make your frames very easy to break, a risk that we would rather not take. Generally, when we refuse frames, we issue a refund and send the pair back to the owner and this whole process takes about a week. Yours was a special case as you did not want to take no for an answer. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced and we hope that you find what you are looking for.

I knew someone that purchased the lens replacement service and received great quality lens for a fair price so I decided to give this business a try. My new Prada full framed glasses came with plastic lenses and I was in need of a replacement lens service. So, I provided all the required information and sent the glasses in to be serviced. The ease of ordering was really desirable to me, so I had no complaints and excitedly expected my new glasses in 1-2 weeks. However, 3-4 days after shipping when the company received my frames, customer service reached out to me stating that they could not figure out how to service my glasses. The customer service agent asked what I would like to do with two choices: Full refund and return the glasses or full refund, return the glasses, and ship the frames back to them partially disassembled.
This did not strike me as very professional - offering a service you cannot complete and expecting your customer to perform part of the service seemed ludicrous. And I voiced that much in my email in the most professional way possible. I requested that the glasses be sent back and just asked the customer service agent what the difficulty was. The next email he said, at my request he had his supervisor look at my frames who came up with the same conclusion. I never requested that but fine, whatever. I could get my full refund and frames back soon to take my business elsewhere. Wrong! For some reason, this agent skipped over the part of the email that I requested a return of my frames and after patiently waiting a week, I had to send a follow up email to the agent. He said he would process the refund and ship the frames out.
So now, 2 weeks later I get my frames back, a full rimmed frame by the way. I look by the lens and there are 2 tiny screws holding the frame (where the lens are held) together. It just strikes me odd that a company offering replacement lens would not be able to unscrew 2 screws and replace the lens. I am very dissatisfied with my interaction. Perhaps it was just the customer service representative, but I would stay away for any lens replacement needs. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Hi Aaron, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your order. We are aware of the screws that you mention, however, we found that they were stripped and did not want to force the screws to open as we would have a problem closing it after production.
We do apologize for the request for you to unscrew the frames yourself. Normally, we state that if you would like to try to bring it somewhere locally (like a jeweler) to fixed the stripped screw, you can resend it to us afterwards to be done. However, the email was not worded correctly and has already been addressed with the customer service representative you spoke with.
As a courtesy, we would like to offer to make you a pair of glasses in our Eddie Bauer 8237 frame (http://www.39dollarglasses.com/8237_BLACK.html) which may be similar to the one you sent in, or you may choose a different frame of your liking, free of charge for the inconvenience. We thank you for your patience and understanding and please let us know how you would like to proceed.

I have ordered two different frames. The first was metal frame that I had a week and they broke at the edge of the frame at the nose, at a weld. I called and they provided a second frame free of charge. Took 10 days to get. I replaced the glasses in the new frame and it was about 7-10 days and they broke again. At a weld. I called and complained and again they sent a new frame. The frame name was Leonardo. Since I had so much trouble I decided to order a second pair. This time I ordered a titanium frame. In between, the first frame broke again. When I received the titanium frame I started wearing them. When cleaning them about a week later they pulled apart at the edge by the nose at a weld. I called and they wanted me to send them back. Then told me it would take two weeks to get the glasses back. I explained all that had happen and the Girl explained they needed to see what had happen. I agreed and waited for the RMA to send them back.
Three days later I called to see what happen to the RMA and the operator explained they were suppose to have called me and they going to just send me a new frame instead. But because they had not called, nothing had been done. The operator explained because nothing had happen they would make me a new pair at no cost. I just needed to decide what I would like after receiving the new frame. I decided to get a second pair just in case. This was about three weeks after. I contacted them and asked for a different type of frame, actually asked for a rimless frame. I was then told because it cost more for the frame, I would have to pay and extra 30.00 to get them or find a different frame.
As you can see, this experience has been nothing but a hassle for me. I ask for a different frame and now have been waiting a week and they have not been made as of yet. Showing when you check on the glasses that the order was placed but no progress with the order. I would not recommend this internet site. The reason is that the glasses are obviously made very cheap. Customer service seem great. But then people seem to fall thru the cracks.

This last pair I ordered were not correct so I decided rather than call I would contact customer service via email. I wasn't in a rush. Automated reply stated that I would be contacted in one business day. To my delight I was. Received an RMA and sent it back priority mail at my expense even though 39DollarGlasses offered a free return. Just wanted to get there within the same week. I found I was contacted immediately if questions arose.
After a couple of days ** contacted me and said she would help me personally. During that same day she contacted me once again to inform me the lenses had been put in the opposite sides. No wonder I couldn't see anything. She said my glasses have been corrected and if I wanted that particular pair back. I said yes and received them the next day and they are perfect and I am very happy. 39DollarGlasses quick replies and personalized help is a winner for the customer. I have purchased six or seven pairs of glasses from them, and had some kind of issue with four of them. First, they shipped with the wrong color frame. With another pair (of reading glasses), they called to confirm the prescription, and then shipped them with the wrong prescription. A third time, one lens was a bit too small for the frame, so it kept popping out. This time, they say in Order Tracking that "Your glasses did not pass final inspection and we are currently expediting your order through production.
We are bypassing the regular tracking system in order to speed up the production process and there will be no further updates until your order is ready to ship. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-800-672-6304. We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience at this time." Nice note, but I don't believe that the tracking system slows down the production process. I think they just stopped tracking the order because it is added trouble for them. I am going to try Zenni next time.
Hi Karl. We are sorry to hear you feel this way about our company. Your satisfaction is important to us and in the event of an error we always do our best to ensure it is corrected.

I specifically chose 39dollarglasses.com from among the many other online eyeglass stores because of their supposedly fast order processing and shipping times. Their website states: "Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order." My order did not include a high prescription or progressives or bifocals. I specifically requested rush service and paid a significant surcharge for overnight shipping.
More than a week after placing my order for one pair of eyeglasses and one pair of sunglasses with the same prescription, I had received absolutely no information from the company about the status of my order or when it would be shipped. I tried using the company's online step-by-step order tracking with pictures but soon realized that it is a gimmick that provides no information on when an item will be shipped or received. They provide no contact email address, but I sent 2 messages through their website contact form and received no response for 5 days. I also tried calling several times but gave up after waiting on hold for more than 15 minutes each time. I finally received my glasses nearly 2 weeks after placing my order, and was not very satisfied with the quality.
The prescription (PD number) for the sunglasses is inexplicably different from that of the regular eyeglasses, the lens edges are not polished (although their advertising clearly stated that they would be), and the dark tint of the sunglasses is very light and not nearly as dark as is represented in the website photos, including the customized photos that were generated by uploading my photo to their website. The sunglasses are virtually useless in bright sunshine. However, I do not plan to return either pair as I do not wish to pay two more times for shipping both ways and wait another 3-4 weeks to receive them again.
I submitted a polite written complaint to the company and received an unapologetic response. The company failed to acknowledge even the slightest bit of responsibility for the delay in processing my order, did not acknowledge or respond to the issue of the poor customer service provided (excessively long phone hold times and failure to respond to emails), and would not as a basic courtesy offer even a partial refund of any of the extra amount I paid for overnight shipping (even though the product arrived nearly two weeks after being ordered).
For the record, I am a small business owner and I understand that sometimes things go wrong and unexpected delays happen. However, in these cases, prompt, honest, frequent, and reliable communication is critical to providing good customer service, as is taking responsibility for the company's errors. This clearly does not appear to be the policy of 39dollarglasses.com. I believe that this company uses deceptive advertising regarding their order processing time frame and also offers very poor customer service.
Hi Greg, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your order. We would just like to take the time to clear up any misconceptions you may have with our production time and warranty. To start, your order shipped on the 7th business day as Memorial Day was within that time frame. As you pasted in your review, our website states that "Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order.”
While you are correct in saying that your prescription was not for multifocals, you do in fact, have a moderately high prescription. A -4.5 and a -7 is considered a high prescription on its own not counting the astigmatism correction (CYL and AXIS). You ordered a Super High Index package for thinner lenses, which led us to believe that you were aware of your higher prescription and the possibility of additional processing time. We apologize if you feel that any part of this is deceptive, but we believe it is very straightforward because we did in fact, meet the time frame, as business days do not include weekends and holidays. The amount you paid extra was for UPS Next Day Air, not for rushed processing. By paying extra you cut the shipping time from 3-4 business days to one day after your order leaves our facility.
We understand that you asked for rush processing in your order notes, but that is not a service that we offer nor do we advertise it anywhere on our website. All orders are made in the order in which they are received. If there is anything on our site that indicates that we do so, please let us know where it is as we do not want to mislead any more customers.
The next thing we would like to clear up is that on our “Worry Free Guarantee” it states that we provide free return shipping. We provide you with a return shipping label, we also pay for shipping back to you so at no point do you pay for shipping to exchange a product. Upon further investigation, we see that both your emails were responded to within one business day each time. If this not accurate, please provide us with the email thread so that we may rectify the situation on our end, to ensure it does not happen again.
We have sent an RMA and a prepaid shipping label to the email address you provided on your order for you to return your sunglasses. We do apologize for the lightness of the tinting and want to make it up to you, but we would first like to inspect the prescription to ensure the fit and accuracy of the new pair which we are remaking free of charge for darker lenses and a corrected prescription. If this email is not in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folder. We hope you will give us a chance to correct your glasses. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Please be very careful when ordering glasses from this site. It appears that I inadvertently entered a minus sign instead of a plus sign on one of my prescription fields. Although I have no way to prove it was me, let's assume I did it. When I received my glasses, I, of course, couldn't see out of them so I sent them back along with my optometrist's prescription. It was free to do so as advertised.
When I received my second pair of glasses, there were two issues with them: the bifocal line was too high so I couldn't see at any distance, and the frame was misshapen; it had a noticeable flat spot on the bottom of one eye frame. Even if the prescription had been done properly, I would have sent these back as well. After talking with a customer services rep, I was told I could get only half of my money back even though this second pair was clearly defective. I decided to walk away from this company as I felt the product I had gotten (albeit the second one) should have been replaced without charge. The second one was clearly not my fault.
Hi Scott, we apologize that you feel this way about our company. Any time an error is made, we always ensure that it is corrected.
We have reviewed your order, and the first order was placed online by you. When your doctor advised you that the prescription on the lenses were incorrect, he was right, because it was not ordered correctly. This was confirmed by the copy of your prescription that you sent to us. We want to assure you that we did not change your prescription after you placed your order. As a company that is owned by two eye doctors, not only would that be unethical, it does not benefit us to do so as we offer to remake glasses at no cost, even if the error is not on our end. Therefore, we would have no reason to do so.
Once you place your order, an email confirmation is sent to you immediately and it will show you the prescription you entered when you placed the order. Please check that, as that would be the verification you are searching for. If you do not have that email, we can send you another one as we always keep a copy.
After we honored our warranty and made you a new pair, free of charge, you contacted us after receipt to let us know that the reading segment was made too high and that there was an issue with the frame. The issue you described with the frame was easily corrected by replacing it (all our frames are covered for one year). As per the phone call, we advised you to send it back to be inspected or if you wanted to change the frame style and/or remake the lenses, there would be a 50% remake fee or 50% refund as we already remade your glasses for free once.
We received the glasses back and upon inspection, found that the prescription was made accurately and the segment height was also made accurately according to the nose position that you chose when you placed the order. If any defect was found during inspection, we would have gladly remade your glasses at no cost a second time. Since no defect or errors were found, the 50% refund still stands, and while we apologize for any dissatisfaction, we do make our policy clear that only one remake is covered under our warranty. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The company has made things right, star-rating has been updated appropriately.

First few pairs of glasses I received were fine, however recently each pair has had issues, one pair was returned for tooling marks on the frame, another soon to be returned for similar reasons. My first pair of Rx sunglasses were great, due to a prescription change I reordered the same frame with the same type of lenses just a different strength. However the frames I received are not "Identical"... using a caliper I found a few measurements are different, could just be a change in manufacturing, not horrible, just misleading. Also the lenses are mounted poorly in the plastic frame, leaving a wavy texture around the lenses like it was heated and pushed by fingers to be tight. I work at two universities with students and will be sharing my experience with everyone I can. Quality control seems to be inconsistent and really not worth the money & annoyance of it.

We have been a customer of 39DollarGlasses.com for 5 years, having orders some 9 pairs of glasses. Our most recent purchase in February was for a Rx pair of glasses with transition lenses. Not long after we got them we noticed some discoloration in one corner. It progressively got worse, so we wrote to the company. We were told that they only replace the glasses within the first 30 days (we were at about day 45).
It would cost us 50% of the original cost to remake them. I tried to explain it was a manufacturing defect, but apparently, it does not matter. They do not replace defective glasses after 30 days. It seems our only options are to pay to ship them back, pay 50% to remake them, and pay to ship them back to us, or live with it. We are having the glasses remade by a different company and will never use 39DollarGlasses again. I will not do business with a company that does not stand behind their product.
Hi Tim, we apologize that you feel this way. We have looked further into your issue and based on what you advised in the first email, from our experience, we know that when a coating peels in the manner that you described, it is usually because the lenses were scratched or damaged. We did not realize that you were saying that it just started happening out of nowhere as this is very uncommon with Transitions®. So when you asked how to replace them, we thought it was because they were damaged, not defective, hence the offer to remake them at a discounted price. We have reviewed the emails and you were not advised to pay for shipping in any of them. Also, the warranty would not have mattered if the product that was sent out is defective, we will always correct the issue to ensure customer satisfaction. Even if you agreed to pay the remake fee, we would not have charged you if we received the glasses back and saw that it was defective and not damaged.
We see that you have been a customer of ours for quite some time, and we hope that you know from experience that this is not how we operate - it was a miscommunication that we do apologize for. As stated in a previous correspondence, we sent you an email with a prepaid shipping label so you can send your glasses to us for a full refund if you wish to do so. We cannot stop you from going to another company, that is not the reason why we are offering a refund. We would just like to do whatever we can to correct the problem as we do not want your final impression of us to be that we are not trying to come to a resolution. Thank you for your understanding.

Placed my order for prescription single vision sunglasses and a pair of readers. They were made incorrectly, I could not see out of either pair. I spoke with Customer Service and the representative said he would put in an order to remake them and sent a shipping label for me to return the glasses. I immediately sent the glasses back (that day). I later discovered that they had not begun the remake as they were waiting for the original glasses to be returned but upon investigation on my end, the package had been received by them a few days prior. Then they said they would remake them and I would have them soon. I received one pair today and they were the same glasses - they had not remade them...supposedly the other pair has been remade but I do not have them yet. It has taken five weeks to this point and I am disgusted.
Hi Kelly,
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your order. We want to put you at ease and let you know that it is never our practice to deceive customers. Your remake order was most definitely made, as it does not benefit us to send you the same defective pair which we know would only cause more problems than solutions.
We understand that you are currently working with our Customer Service Manager because the prescription was entered in reverse when you placed the order online and we are in the process of correcting the issue. The probability of us remaking a pair and them being wrong, is very low and the issue is likely related to the prescription being entered incorrectly or prescribed incorrectly. Our company is owned by two eye doctors who understand the importance of good vision, so our glasses go through a detailed inspection process before being sent out.
If we send you the corrected prescription, and you still are not able to see out of them, we are happy to give you the refund that our Customer Service Manager advised you of but also recommend that you take another eye exam. We take pride in our products here at 39DollarGlasses, and we are always willing to work with you until we reach a resolution. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

No problems... in fact one year, they sent 6 pairs of glasses instead of 2! I called as I did not want anyone in trouble for doing this mistake. A senior management called me and said a rookie made the mistake. She assured me the woman was not in trouble. I offered to send the extras back... She said keep them. Well, I told her I would donate the extras to people that needed them. Glasses in Canada are overpriced, a ripoff, I buy them when in Florida. People in the USA should not complain... your glasses are cheap. Kudos to 39 dollar glasses.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Kate! We greatly appreciate it.

We received a phone call from a very concerned staff person. Apparently there was an error in communication and she truly worked hard to rectify the problem. We received the second pair of glasses and were instructed to send them both back, which we did. They offered to send us new glasses with the corrected prescription. They were also kind enough to offer to replace one of the frames that was too small. We are very pleased and just waiting on the new corrected pair of glasses to arrive. Thank you very much! Our faith has been restored in 39dollarglasses.com

Wife ordered 2 pair of glasses 1 month ago. Charged us for both but sent only one pair grossly out of focus. Woman would not cancel second order and stated we could only get half back if we shipped them both back, but STILL waiting on the second pair!

I bought a pair a couple weeks ago, and paid for next day shipping. Nonetheless I still waited a week for them to even ship the glasses, "due to my prescription," which was actually pretty average (-3,-3) . And once they did arrive, they just looked so cheap, I put them aside as an emergency pair. I also ordered from another company online, and it was actually cheaper...about 40 bucks total, and they were shipped quicker, and all around better quality. These don't slip off my face unlike 39dollarglasses.

I received my eyeglasses from 39dollarglasses and discovered they were much darker than pictured. I attempted to contact customer service using their online contact us form to request a return. My first attempt was within 2 days of receiving my glasses. After not receiving a reply, I again submitted my concerns via their Contact Us form. Again -- nothing! No reply from 39dollarglasses whatsoever. I was well within the 10 days stated in their return policy, although now that is coming to a close. Disappointed to say the least.

Per their website, "ENJOY EVERYDAY FAST SHIPPING & EASY RETURNS!" I have tried contacting them to request an RMA # since last week and they say it takes 1 business day to reply back. I wanted to get a lighter tint on my sunglasses as the ones they sent are extremely dark. I have been waiting and waiting to hear anything back from them. Makes me regret ordering anything from them.

I had an unpleasant experience with one of the big eyeglass chain stores, so I thought see what other options were out there. I wasn't sure how good the quality of the glasses would be for such a low price. I have been able to buy several pairs for less than one pair would have cost elsewhere and the quality has been much better than other places. I have bought my glasses from 39dollar glasses since.
Thank you, Matthew! We are so glad to hear this!

The company has gotten in touch with me, and they were prompt in following up on the state of the order. There was a problem in production, that resulted in failed glasses the first time, so a second round of production was done, explaining the longer production time. There was no record of this failed production, and this was not communicated to me. They apologized for the confusion. I'm satisfied with the results of ordering from them.

My son lost his glasses and needed new glasses for school. This was going to cost $150 from the optometrist, but I had the diagnosis, and it would cost $40 from this site. He was going to have a couple weeks off from school over winter break, and I read the notes on this site, and they said 95% of the time the glasses would ship in 3 days. So, that would work. I ordered the glasses and paid for 2-day priority shipping. I should have the glasses in 5 days.
But after a week the status on the website didn't change. So I got in touch with them on chat. I was told that their site says "95% of the time it will take 1-3 business days and in some cases of special glasses another 1-4 business days". I pointed out these are not special items, but they didn't care. It seemed like I should expect 7 business days before saying there is a problem. Which is what it took. Then the 2-day shipping took four days, and ran over into the three day holiday weekend, which wasn't their fault, but it made things worse. So in the end it was over two weeks to get these glasses.
The glasses came in fine, and he put them on, and said they work great and he likes them. If the site says expect two weeks to get glasses, this would be good. But they lead me to expect 5 days, and in the end my son had to go to over a week of school without glasses. People should know to expect over two weeks to get glasses from here at least. The expected ship times stated seem to just be an outright lie.
Thank you for the update, Douglas! We are glad that in the end, you're satisfied.
