My original experience with 39dollarglasses wasn't the best & they were right about me missing my 30 or 90 day full refund period (I live in Hawaii -- we're a little slower here). Anyway, after my previous 1 star review I did get a couple of telephone calls & emails from them asking how they could make the situation better. We agreed to just making regular lined bi-focal sunglasses instead of the 3 different distances with progressive lenses. I've gotten my new glasses & they are PERFECT!
I'm very happy with my experience with them now & know you'll have a good experience too. Just make sure you get the proper PD (pupil distance) numbers for EACH eye from your eye doctor. I measured mine initially & was off .5 cm... So even though I was somewhat at fault, the company forgave me & remade my lenses & now we're all good. Thank you 39dollarglasses!

I sent my 39 dollar glasses back to them as the prescription was not right. I had my first pair made at my dr's office & they are perfect & great. I tried 39 dollar glasses to save some money getting a second pair which were sunglasses that I could use for driving & reading. I checked & doubled checked my numbers that I input from the prescription into their website. But when I look through the lenses things bend to the left which definitely isn't "right." I missed the full refund return period & sent them back within 90 days to be "inspected" only to be told that they didn't find any problems with them & that I should take them back to my doctor to have my prescription checked. So, here I sit out of $100+ with a pair of sunglasses which are useless. If you are trying to save money, go to Costco or WalMart where you live. At least there will be someone to hold accountable in person. I won't ever buy from them again.
Hi Gloria,
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. According to our records, you contacted our customer service department regarding your order and they advised you that although your order is out of our warranty period, we will re-inspect your glasses in order to look for any possible mistakes made during production; we will always take full responsibility for any mistakes made on our end and will correct them immediately. However, after re-inspecting your glasses, we did not find any errors.
Furthermore, we would like to reach out to you via phone in order to gain a better understanding of your situation and come to a resolution on this matter. Please understand that we would never want any of our customers to receive an order that is anything less than the quality expected from 39dollarglasses.com. We will be attempting to contact you shortly via phone. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I had purchased a pair of glasses from Walmart for about $400. I lost them and decided to try 39dollarglasses.com and I'm glad I did. My glasses arrived one week later are almost identical to the ones I lost but less than half the price. They are the right prescriptions and they fit just right. I actually like them a little better than the ones I lost. So thank you 39dollarglasses.com. Next time I need glasses I will definitely use 39dollarglasses.com.
Thank you for the kind words, Mike! We truly appreciate your positive review. We pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service, so we're always glad to know we are upholding our values. Enjoy your new glasses.

I have bought many pairs of glasses from 39 and was very happy until now. My wife had 2 screws fall out of her sunglasses. Normally any optician would give you 2 screws usually without charge. I contacted 39 Glasses and they ignored my emails. When I got them on the phone they said if they were under warranty they would send new frames??? New frames when you only need 2 screws worth a nickel at the most sounds stupid to me. Ours were out of warranty and they offered new frames with a discount. They refused to give me two lousy screws. In this case my wife and I will get our glasses from a local optical store in the future. Too bad they have such a stupid policy.
Hi Ed - We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your order. We receive our frames as is from our manufacturers with no extra parts, because of this, all our frames are under a free frame replacement warranty for up to one year. Please understand that we are not refusing to give you two screws because of policy, we simply do not have them.
Since your most recent order was from 2014, these glasses are indeed out of warranty, as advised by our customer service department. You were also offered a discount on new frames which we believe is more than fair, especially since your order is two years old. We apologize if you believe that this is unfair.
We have added $20 into your EyeBucks Rewards points to use in the future if you choose to place another order. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

When I found $39.00 glasses, I thought it was a scam. How could they sell me a pair of prescription glasses (sun or regular) for this price? I called and spoke with a very kind gentleman who took my order. The glasses arrived in about a week. However, I, and I emphasize, I gave them the wrong prescription. I could not see out of these and they were useless to me. I phoned the company and once again, they were kind, supportive, non-judgmental and very professional. They allowed me return the glasses and this time I gave them the correct lens numbers. Within a week or so, my new glasses arrived. They are perfect in every way possible.
This company is 5 star to me and I acknowledge their great work, wonderful spirit and I don't know where you could possible get a pair of glasses less expensively. The frames were top notch and of course, the glass itself was most desirable. Having said this, my joy and pleasure was speaking with the agents. They were incredibly respectful and helpful. From now on, I will not ever go to another place for glasses. There were no scams, no come-ons, nothing but glasses for only $39.00. I recommend them highly and suggest you give them a chance. A very pleased customer.
Thank you so much for your positive review, Ronald! We're glad to hear about your experience with our company and are proud to be able to provide you with quality, affordable glasses. We look forward to having you as a long-time customer with 39DollarGlasses.com!

I ordered my glasses on May 4th. I realized over that weekend that these new glasses will have the same problems as my current frames will. I checked and the order had not been shipped yet so I emailed asking if I could get the lenses in a smaller frame. The next day they shipped the glasses out, and then two days later Tifanny answered my email back stating too bad they didn't read my email in time and I should have called, and oh by the way I ordered a lens package where they only give a 50 percent refund.
Well what a coincidence that they only just checked the email the day after shipping my glasses out. And if they shipped them out four days ago, where are they? The last thing it says on tracking is 'label created' and they are still in New York. Stupid idiots. And I didn't 'choose' this lens package. It gave me no other choice. The cheaper choice I wanted was blanked out and wouldn't let me select it. Also, Tifanny has a snotty tone. I am definitely complaining to the BBB. They can't make you choose a certain lens package then tell you there are no refunds on that one; and then conveniently not check their email until after the glasses are shipped out and expect people to think they do good business. And as far as calling, well if they were open any hours that I'm not at work, I would have.
Hi Kathy,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. We're sorry that we could not respond to your email immediately; however, we receive a high volume of emails and respond to them in the order in which we receive them. Furthermore, we are a company that has been in business for 15 years and would not benefit from purposely ignoring emails in order to wait for an order to ship. Please understand that not all lens packages are available for certain prescription strengths. Therefore, our site does not give the customer an option to chose certain lens packages if their prescription is too strong. Our 50% refund policy on UltimateViewHD lenses in advised on our website. Once the shipping label is created, the package does not leave New York immediately. The package is sent to the local post office, which still located in New York. Once the package leaves our facility, we have no control over the delivery time. We apologize for the inconvenience for our business hours. However, for future reference, we offer a Live Chat during our business hours where you will be helped by one of our customer service representatives immediately. Once again, we're sorry to hear about your experience. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I placed an order on March 30 for new glasses. I tracked the order and saw that the glasses had failed to pass the quality control phase and needed to be redone. 16 days into the order I received the glasses and they were defective. The lenses were loose in a molded frame. I sent them back and changed the order to my old style frame just in case. I waited 10 days and then called to see where the order was. I was told I needed to pay an additional $10 (I did not receive any notification of this). I paid and waited. 8 days later I tracked the order to find that this pair as well had failed to pass the quality control and needed to be redone.
On May 11, a full 6 weeks after I placed my initial order, my glasses arrived. They had failed to polish the edges which on my prescription can make reflective distractions. I called them and they offered to take the glasses back and redo them a third time. I said that not only should they redo them, another 2 week wait, but that I should be offered some type of partial refund or credit against my next order to compensate me for the 2 months it would take to get my order correct. They refused as this was not part of their "policy." I've been a customer of 39 dollar glasses for over 12 years, but they show no loyalty to their customer base other than to satisfy company policy so I said goodbye and will find someone else to buy my glasses from in the future.
Hi Charles,
We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced. According to our records, we have issued you an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) label in order to send back your glasses for re-polishing. We have received the frame and are currently in the process of re-polishing your frame. We always want to accommodate our customers to the fullest extent possible. Therefore, we hope that your new lenses are of the quality that you expect from 39DollarGlasses.com. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and delay on your order. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I ordered replacement frames for my Portland eyeglasses and the frames they sent were too small. I was able to squeeze my lenses into the frames, finally, but not without damaging the Transition coating on the lenses around the edges. I called and asked if there was anything they could do for me considering that my lenses were perfect before I inserted them into the frames that they sent me, which were too small and caused damage upon insertion. They said, "Sorry there is nothing we can do for you" and that was it! Very unsatisfied with this experience and even more so with their extremely unprofessional and discourteous customer service people.
Hi Jeff,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. We pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service that will go to the furthest extend possible to help, so we're sorry to hear about your recent experience. According to our records, we issued you a $10 coupon code, plus free shipping on your next purchase. We're sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with our offer. However, the order is from 2014, which is out of our warranty period; therefore, after issuing the frame replacement and coupon code, there is nothing further we can offer. We will always offer a frame replacement if a customer receives a damaged frame from us. However, the frame was sent out undamaged. The frame may have changed in size, but due to the frame being from 2014, the manufacturer reserves the right to adjust their frame sizes. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I ordered eyeglasses on 4/11/2016. After one week I was looking to get a shipping date. I was told that my lenses had a quality issue that was causing a delay. Finally I received my eyeglasses today on 4/22. When I opened the box I found that the left lens was not on the frame. It was loose in the soft pouch. The eyeglass prescription appears to be correct. The box was not damaged in shipping. When I called to complain I heard more excuses than any contrition.
Hi Mr. Dhoop,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. Typically, most orders take between 1-3 business days. However, some orders may need the full 3-7 business days production time that is advised on our website. The production time may vary depending on the prescription, frame, and/or lens package combination. We always try our best to accommodate all of our customers. Unfortunately, sometimes human error does occur. Therefore, we would have put in a remake for your order free of charge. Your new order number is 616273713. Our team will ensure quality control by having the glasses pass double inspection. You should be receiving a confirmation email shortly for your new order. Furthermore, once your glasses have been shipped, you will receive another confirmation email with your tracking number attached. Additionally, we have added $20 in EyeBucks Rewards points to your account for any possible future purchases. We sincerely apologize on our behalf for the mistakes. We hope this helps address your concern and create a more positive experience for you. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I ordered two pairs of glasses on 3/22/16. As my prescription is pretty strong, I knew I would be outside of the predicted 3-5 day construction period that they tout for 95% of glasses. About 10 days goes by... I check the order. One pair is ready to go, the other didn't pass final inspection. At this point, I expect to be receiving the one pair very soon, as I had paid for two-day shipping. A few more days go by... Still no glasses. I check again, same thing: one pair ready, one pair did my glass inspection. I email customer service on a Friday, April 1st, and am told my glasses will be shipped either that day or the following Monday. A few more days go by, wondering why they haven't' shipped. Message them. Nothing. Message them once again, and I'm told that they will send the one pair that is ready, but that they don't normally do that unless an order is outside of standard production time. Which it was. So I get the one pair on April 12th.
Today, April 18th, I go to the site to check on my other glasses. The site says they were delivered with the ones I actually got!! They were not. This company is disorganized, rude, and in no way customer-oriented. If one pair of glasses is ready, and the other isn't because of THEIR ERROR, they should ship separately, and the company should eat the cost, as their poor workmanship has delayed things. I am also GREATLY displeased that my other pair of glasses appears to be lost. I have messaged customer service about this order, for the 4th or 5th time, and at this point I'm requesting an email on the glasses I supposedly already have!! Never again will I use this site. I will buy my cheap glasses elsewhere!!
Hi Sarah,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. Please understand that we vigorously inspect each outgoing order to ensure it is of the quality you expect from 39DollarGlasses.com and we will always take the time to correct any issues found before sending it out. We pride ourselves on offering great customer service to ensure all of customers are happy. Moreover, your glasses were not lost but were still going through our production process. We hope you understand that we were working diligently to correct the issue, so that your glasses would pass final inspection. Furthermore, we typically send out both pairs of glasses at the same time because they were both under one order; therefore, each order is not complete until both pairs are finished. However, in your order, we shipped out one pair separately due to the extended wait time. We have received a high volume of emails this past month and are answering them in the order in which they are received. For the inconvenience, we have added $15 in EyeBucks Rewards points to your account. Once again, we apologize for any issues. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I decided that I needed to finally order prescription sunglasses as we're moving to Nevada next week. After researching a few online options I chose 39dollarglasses because it appeared that they could get them to me in 2 days. 2 days after I placed my order I checked to make sure they were on their way only to discover that they had not "passed inspection" and would be delayed. I called in (omg the wait time!) and got an incredibly rude young woman. She basically called me stupid because I thought that 2-day shipping meant 2 days warehouse to me.
I pointed out that it never clearly states that 3-10 business days was the norm and in frustration asked for a manager. Dave ** is such an asset to this company. He was polite and made sure that they bumped my shipping to next day and followed the glasses from "tinting" to shipment. He saved my order and has made a customer for life out of me. The glasses are due to arrive today and I can't wait to see them!
Hi Dawn, thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that your problem was ultimately resolved. For future reference, right above where you choose your shipping method (ie: Next Day, 2nd Day, or Priority) states our production time. We will also play back your phone call so we may properly address this issue to the rep you spoke to. Again, thank you for your feedback and we hope you love your glasses!

I shipped 39dollarglasses a frame for re-lensing. I was notified they could not be re-lensed 'because the lens area can not be opened or closed'. I called to explain you have to remove 2 screws to open them, very simple. The service agent and/or tech agreed and reprocessed them. I was not notified of any further problem. I was shipped back a broken frame with new lenses. When emailed them about the frame they continued to say: "We are not responsible for the things we break" (terms and conditions), "The part that was broken is no big deal", it's my fault.
What's extra bad is that I started this order mid-February. I was told the first frame I sent in could not be processed due to missing parts (I had stripped down the glasses to make it easy for them). I then sent in a duplicate frame and left all the parts on and they said these could not be processed cause they couldn't be opened. When I called in about it (cause they open very easily), they said I would need to remove these 2 parts on the frame myself and reship them back (we're talking 2 screws here)! First it was cause I had stripped them down, then it was because I hadn't! I finally got them back - it's mid-April and they broke my frame. I don't trust these people at all!
Hi Mr. Stevenson,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. According to our records, you had sent in your frames for a re-lensing order. However, we first declined to re-lens your frame because the frame you sent to us was incomplete due to there being missing temple pieces. Your second re-lensing order was declined because we could not open the frame properly due to two screws at the top of the temple pieces. After you called our customer service hotline, we went through with completing your order. Furthermore, based on the picture that you sent us via e-mail, the glasses appear to be intact and we see no other flaws. The temple piece screw covers are detached, but this is something that we advised would be necessary prior to starting the process. Most metal frames do not have the cover over the temple pieces; therefore, we did not compromise the structural integrity of the glasses. We are sorry to hear about your experience with our company. If you have any further questions or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for the response, and the refund. Update: I will change my rating to a 3/5 because I still feel this company benefits from keeping 50% of proceeds from returned items if they don't get them back within 10 days. If you factor in shipping, slow customer service, and a busy schedule that's almost impossible.

So I ordered some glasses and when I received them they gave me a horrible headache, so I decided to send them back. I tried calling while at work, but was left holding for a CSR for over 10 minutes each time. I couldn't be sitting on hold all day at work, so I emailed them multiple times with no response. When I finally got through to someone I was able to process a return. I didn't think twice about it until I checked my credit card statement. They refunded me 50% (so around $40 instead of the $87 I originally paid). When I called (and waited another 10 mins on hold) they informed me that because they didn't receive the glasses within 10 days that it constitutes a 50% refund. (WHAT?!) I tried as hard as I could to get in touch with the customer service department to return these glasses but it was such a headache. I've heard multiple reports from people that I work with that this is a shady company. I should've listened. Buyer beware.
Hi Adam,
We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. According to our records, we originally issued you a 50% refund for the glasses you returned. However, we then issued you the full refund on Friday afternoon after you contacted us via social media. Please allow 2-3 business days for the transaction to credit back to your account. Furthermore, we apologize for the wait time. We have received a much higher volume of emails and calls this month than we typically do and were answering the them in the order in which we received them. We hope that the full refund will help resolve your concerns. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Finally, I was contacted by 39dollarglasses. There seemed to be a legitimate mistake in their ability to get ahold of me as the only result of my name in their system was not me! There are probably a few hundred people that share my name across the country and one had done business with them several years ago.
My wife had placed the order, so it had her info on it. When I sent them emails, it was from my address, not the one attached to the order. I would have expected them to just hit the reply button to reach me, but no, the fiasco ensued. I still stand by my frustration with trying to reach them by phone, though.
Onto the good part! A few days ago I was reached out to by Dave of 39dollarglasses. He had realized the error and found the right me. He was exceptionally nice and professional. I had to wait a few days for a copy of my prescription to make sure everything was correct. He called me back as promised and refilled the order. I had my new glasses in 4 days. Dave was a pleasure to deal with and the new glasses are great!
I happily recant my anger towards 39dollarglasses and now see there was confusion on both sides. The fact that they searched for the right me in order to resolve the issue goes a long way in my book. Thanks, guys!

I was super excited to receive my order. Two pairs of glasses, $110 total. Upon receiving them, the first thing I noticed was they felt maybe a bit cheaper than I expected. Whatever though. I need glasses and these will do. I excitedly put on the first pair and to my dismay, one lens was completely wrong. It was the opposite of what I needed. I put on the second pair and the other lens is completely wrong. The right lens of one pair and the left of another. I was disappointed but hey, they have a 30-day money back guarantee right? Right? I called their customer helpline and was repeatedly on hold for 15 minutes at a time at which point the phone would hang up on me. I called 6 times in 3 days and this was my experience every single time.
On the third day, I called simultaneously from two phones and logged into their website to send a message as well. Fortunately I spoke to someone that day who agreed to send me a return slip. I also received a response from them via email. I sent a response stating I had been taken care of over the phone. Two weeks went by and nothing ever showed up. I have since called multiple times as well as sent emails and get put on hold nor do I get a response via email. I'm talking 10 phone calls and 10 emails. This is ridiculous. At this point I have chalked them up to a scam. It has been well past the 30-day mark. Closer to 60 at this point. They got my money. The glasses are no good to me. A frame donation at best. Avoid at all costs. Sure the frames are cheap, trust me, they feel cheap too. You can get just a good a deal shopping bargain frames anywhere in town. Thanks for nothing 39dollarglasses.

I was a little hesitant to purchase prescription glasses online but needed glasses on my tight budget, so $39 was hard to resist. Putting my info was easy and thankfully my measurement was spot on. Did it myself so was a little worried. My first order was lost in the mail and according to the tracking info it was at fault to the USPS. Thankfully they replaced the lost package even though they didn't have to, since it was shown "delivered" and they do have insurance to cover lost items. Great and fast customer service! The whole process took about a month for me to receive the glasses, should have been 2 weeks if the postman didn't lose my order. The glasses are good quality and they even came in a case, micro-fiber lens cleaning cloth AND a mini screwdriver (not sure what it's called) to tighten up my glasses. My $500 pair of glasses didn't even come with all the extras my $39 pair came with.

I was hoping to get my new glasses before going on vacation, but really didn't expect them to arrive in time. They arrived earlier than noted on the 39DollarGlasses website and I'm thrilled with my purchase. The prescription is just right and the quality is better than I expected. Each pair of glasses came with a nice case and cleaning cloth, too. My hubby had to tighten a screw on one of the pairs I got, but other than that, they seem to be the same quality I used to buy from a retailer. The only bummer is that one of the pairs I selected is a little large for my face, which would have been avoided had I purchased where I could actually try the glasses on, but I will purchase from 39 Dollar Glasses again but will order smaller frames next time. Good value at a great price; I have recommended 39DollarGlasses to friends at work and to family members.
Thank you for the kind words, Peggy! We love to hear positive feedback from our customers. We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced regarding your frames being too large. For our customers convenience, we have implemented try-on tools on our website. One try-on tool is where you can upload a picture of your face in order to see how the glasses will look on you. The other try-on tool is our printable frames. You can print out each frame to its exact size, and try the frames on at home as well. Furthermore, you can always call our Customer Service Hotline for any advice you need regarding sizing and frames. Thank you very much for recommending our company to your friends and family. My 11 year old granddaughter broke her $300 glasses after having them for less than 5 months. I took them to our eye care specialist, where they told me they couldn't be fixed without purchasing a new $200 frame. I decided to try 39dollarglasses. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses on a Thursday and she was wearing them the following Monday! (New frames for her broken pair wouldn't have arrived until Wednesday). The glasses were great quality (I was honestly expecting lower quality because of the price). I was able to purchase TWO pairs, using overnight shipping for less than HALF the price of replacing her original frame (approximately $80 - I found a coupon code for $15 off each pair). I couldn't be happier! I will definitely order any future prescription glasses from here again.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Bonnie! We're glad to hear your granddaughter can see again. The frames are covered for up to 1 year after purchase. If she breaks the frames but the lenses are okay, let us know and we will send you another frame and you are able to swap the lenses yourself. If you have any questions or need assistance on anything, please do not hesitate to ask.

I prayed to the optical Gods above that I would not have some of the experiences others have had on this site. My complaint is that there are so many instances where glasses fail inspection based on other reviews and my own experience. I did not read reviews until after my order was placed and shipped out and now I'm paying for it. I really needed my glasses as I have been having headaches. I received upgraded 2 day shipping which may have made things worst seeing as my glasses arrived the next day via priority mail. Just save yourself the headaches in every sense of the word

Kiera updated their star rating from a 2 stars to a 1 stars after speaking with the company outside of the ConsumerAffairs platform.
My initial review was definitely written out of frustration. While I did not receive any direct contact on the changing status of my lenses, I did agree to the processing terms when placing my order and while it was a major tease to see the glasses be completed just incorrectly, I can't say I'm totally dissatisfied until the posted time frame elapses I asked via chat for a copy of my receipt and received nothing. I have to be fair and wait it out and see what happens.

My frame wasn't screwed in right. I called to replace frame in October, the gentleman I spoke with said as long as I was on warranty I could reorder frames multiple times. I called again in December and again was told I could order frames again. I wanted to shop around before I ordered again. Called today was told that it was a one time thing. Communication is key in customer/business relations. After being told twice it would be replaced I find out today it won't be.
Hi Stephanie, we apologize for the miscommunication from our end. All orders have a one year warranty on the frame. If the frame breaks within one year of the order, we will replace it for free. This is not unlimited, this is a one time replacement within that year. However, we are sending you another frame replacement as a courtesy.
Since all our phone calls are recorded, we listened to the phone call in October, our representative stated that you were covered for one year but never mentioned that you could receive multiple frames. In December, you advised our representative that you lost your glasses and were advised that we would make you another pair for 50% of the cost to which you agreed and stated that you would call back. It was never indicated to be a free pair of frames or glasses.
If you wanted to place another order today for your lost pair, we will still honor the 50% charge that was promised to you on your call. If you need frames only, and you already received your one-time free frame replacement, you are able to call our customer service department at 1-800-672-6304 and you are able to purchase the frame only. We hope this clears things up and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

I stand corrected. Fortunately, I'm typing this because it's hard to talk with my foot in my mouth. I misunderstood about the way they counted days. Weekends are not included. So they shipped within the 2-7 days criteria that 95% of their glasses go out. They found a small scratch in the left lens. Rather than making me wait longer, they shipped that pair so I could get the glasses and fix my vision. They are going to send another pair once the new lens they ordered comes in at no additional charge.
I get to keep both pairs of glasses for the same original price. THAT is how you do customer service. Thank you 39DollarGlasses.com for standing behind your product and going above and beyond to help me. I am a satisfied consumer, and I will spread the word. I apologize for my mistake.

I'm not impressed. I was told most ship in 1-3 days. Some take an additional 1-4 days. So that's 2-7 days. Day seven. I'm still in the step where the glasses are assembled. They have not shipped them after 7 days. I'm getting headaches because I need the glasses. I thought maybe they'd do better than Wal-Mart. Guess I was wrong. I won't be ordering from them again, and if there is even a slight issue with these glasses, I'll be returning them for a refund. Their customer service person rushed me off the phone too after I called because THEY contacted me first to confirm something. Overall, I'm NOT impressed. I can't prove it, but it *seems* they mislead you into thinking your glasses will ship no longer than 7 days after ordering so that you'll order from them instead of a competitor who takes longer. My glasses were not that complex... Standard no-line bifocal. Seriously, just buy elsewhere. These guys do not deserve your business.
Hi Joel, we apologize that you feel this way about our company. As you referenced, on our website it states that "Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order. A small percentage of orders do not initially pass final inspection, and we may need to redo all or part of the process."
As business days do not include holidays or weekends, today would be the 6th business day since you placed your order. Your glasses have been completed and are ready to ship to you today. An email will be sent to you with your tracking information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I bought a pair of glasses at 39DollarGlasses.com a couple of years ago and had a good experience. Recently, I bought two pairs, one for reading and a pair of bifocals. After I received the glasses and took them to my optician for adjustments, she discovered that one lens on my bifocals was put in crooked, actually warping the frame and making the bifocal like to be unlevel. I thought I would try them for a few days to see if I would get used to them. I probably could have but the bifocal not sitting level was a problem. When I looked at the return policy on their website, I discovered that you have to contact them within 10 days in order to return the glasses. I'm used to the period being 30 days. Now, I realize that this is all on me for not checking the policy before ordering. Still, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I will not order from them again.
Hi James, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. As an American company that has been in business for 15 years, we take pride in our great customer service. We understand that no company is perfect and once in a while, human error may occur in our lab. Even if you are out of warranty, if there is any issue, especially if the error came from our end, we will always do our best to correct it, even if you are not within the warranty period. Our 10-day period is strictly enforced for changes such as a frame color changes or frame style changes. However, if it is a lens defect, we will gladly take your order back to be refunded or exchanged.
We will be sending you an RMA number and a prepaid shipping label to the email address you provided. Expect to receive it before the end of business today. If you do not see it in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folder. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

This was the first time I have ever bought glasses online. But the price was right at 39dollarglasses.com so I went for it. DON'T DO IT!!! I measured the glasses they showed with both the ruler they provided and backed it up with my own tools. I also measured my PD carefully. I thought everything was all set and I was proud of my bargain and looked forward to the glasses. The glasses came today and they were truly ugly. First the frame (and I went back and checked) were much larger than either the picture or measurements showed, plus they were super loose on my face. They look like the bottoms of saucers, truly horrid. A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.
Hi Rhonda, we apologize for your dissatisfaction with your glasses. However, did you know about our worry-free warranty? If you are not satisfied with your order for any reason, you are able to send it back for a full refund or free exchange for a different pair. You are a couple of weeks outside of this warranty period, but as a courtesy, we will email you a prepaid shipping label to send the glasses back to us via the email address you provided. If it is not in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folder.
Upon looking further into your order, we see that you have a -3.00 prescription and ordered Rimless glasses. For a prescription that is higher than average, they would come out thicker than what is pictured on our website. We have also double checked all the measurements of the frame and what is advertised on our website, and they are found to be accurate. For our own information, did you print out a picture of the glasses or ruler at 100% scale?

My eyesight changed significantly and I ordered my glass thru this website (I am a returning customer). They delivered the glass on time. The frame was supposed to be expensive - but flimsy and it is bent at a joint. The screw is put it in a wrong direction. The included screw driver is bigger than the screw. Also, I took to local eye shop - they even cannot fix the screw. If they touch it can break. I send an email - no response after 3 days (2 days it was weekend). And their phone CS close at 2 PM PST.
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced on your order. We are not open on weekends and all emails will be answered in the order in which they are received starting on the next business day. We are currently replacing your frame. However, can you verify which screw you're referring to? Upon inspection, our lab did not find any screws facing in the wrong direction.
As a repeat customer with several orders, we are sure that you're aware that this is not the condition in which we usually send our glasses and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding. We have upgraded your shipping to UPS 2nd Day Air as a courtesy. Once the order is ready to ship, you will receive a shipping notification email along with your tracking number. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I ordered glasses online (day 1). The order was put on hold, and I received an email (day 2) saying that. I called (day 2) and was told that the order would be put through and that I would receive glasses in 1-2 weeks. Ten days later (day 12), I'd not received my glasses. So I called 39dg.com to check status. I was on hold for 30 minutes and no one ever picked up. I sent an email and no one ever responded. On day 13, I called American Express which confirmed that 39dg.com had claimed $400+ from me. I then called 39dg.com again; this time they picked up (after a 15 minute hold) and said that although they'd posted the charged, they'd not put the order through. I canceled the order - would not do business with these people. Ironically, when I suggested that there'd been some "incompetence," the response was, "you don't have to use terms like that."
Hi Peter. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced with your order. You had placed your order on Sunday September 27th. Your hold was addressed on the following business day, Monday September 28th, during which you were advised that your order would take approximately 1 – 1 ½ weeks to complete. On the tenth business day (October 9th) customer service had cancelled your order as per your request. We apologize for the delay you experienced, as this is not common of our company.
According to our phone records, the wait times for your listed phone number were approximately six minutes. If you had called from a different phone number please let us know, as we take our phone wait times very seriously. For future reference, there is an option to leave a voicemail at any point during your wait. In this case, a customer service representative will call you back.

To follow up on the order I placed a few weeks ago with 39dollarglasses.com, the glasses were finally delivered three weeks and a day after placing my order. I also was contacted by 39dollarglasses.com with an apology for taking so long and a $20 credit to my account for a future purchase.
I decided to go ahead and order another pair of the same style so I'd have a backup pair on hand, and placed that order on Monday afternoon. Today, just about exactly 48 hours later, I was notified that the new glasses have shipped. As I mentioned in my previous review, this is the kind of speed of service I have experienced in the past from this company and had hoped for when I really needed it. Not sure what happened last time, but I'll certainly be ordering again in future.

Two weeks ago I broke my glasses (I am blind without glasses - the broken ones are taped together, but...), so I went to my go-to source for Rx glasses, 39dollarglasses.com. I have ordered from them several times before over several years and always been extremely satisfied with the price, quality, accuracy in filling my orders, and (most important at the moment) promptness. I've had orders in hand in as little as 48 hours after placing them. Not this time. When I emailed customer service about this ten days or so into my wait I heard back (over a day later) that my glasses had not passed final inspection, so I shouldn't expect any more info until they shipped. That was a couple of days ago, and they're apparently still not shipped. Wow.
Hi Rob! Thank you very much for giving our company another chance. We are glad that we were able to reach a resolution that you are happy with and we look forward to working with you again in the future.

I ordered glasses from 39DollarGlasses after reading on their site that they took 1-3 days to make. I paid an extra $20 to ship with 1-day shipping in order to receive them for a trip. I needed them in 9 days, which I thought was a suitable buffer. I even emailed them to let them know when they needed to be shipped out, and didn't hear back. 11 days later, they arrived -- far too late for my trip. While the glasses are a decent quality (I paid $100 for them, plus $20 shipping), the frame is cheaper than I would like, and I was disappointed with their customer service response. I asked for a shipping refund, and they told me that they took "6 business days to make the glasses" because my prescription was higher and refused. I guess I should have read the fine print. There are other online companies that care about satisfaction and will take care of their customers. Stay away from these guys. They're a joke.
Hi Chelsea,
We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your experience. As a company, we are always willing to correct any issues you may have. Please let us know what we can do to help you. Upon looking further into your order here is what we have found:
Unfortunately, we did not receive an email from you telling us when you needed them by. We want to advise that these emails do not affect our manufacturing time because orders are created in the order in which they are received. However, this is a concern to us because if we are not receiving customer emails, this is something we would want to look into. Did you reply to the confirmation email by any chance? If that is the case, please be advised that that is a “no-reply” email. If that is not the case, please let us know.
Your order was placed on 09/02 and was completed on 09/10. We then shipped it via the shipping method you chose and (as per UPS tracking) was delivered to the address you provided on 09/11 making the entire process 7 business days or 9 regular days. If you paid for next day shipping, and shipping took more than one business day after it leaves our facility, your shipping will be refunded. Since that is not the case here, we apologize but we are unable to issue a refund for UPS.
We also apologize that you feel that we have not been upfront with our production time. However, as you stated, on our website it says “Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days”. The next sentence right after that then says “For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order.” We want to clarify that there is no fine print, we plainly state it as it is not our policy or practice to be deceitful. Your prescription that is over a -9.00 is considered a high prescription and would therefore require the extra days mentioned in our “Help” section that you referred to.
We take pride in our customer service and always make sure that our customers are satisfied at the end of the day. If you are unhappy with your product, you are covered by our 100% Worry Free Guarantee. As stated on our website, if you are unhappy with your order, you may contact us within 10 days of receiving your order. When we receive your return, we can either exchange your order or issue a refund. We see that a prepaid shipping label and RMA was issued and sent to the email address you provided on 10/08 and so we do look forward to receiving your return and proceeding as per your directive.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask and we thank you for your patience.

Hi Hannah. We apologize that you were not satisfied with your order. As a company that has been in business since 2001, it is very important to us that our customers are happy with their purchase. It is not common for us to receive complaints on the quality of our frames, especially the Oxygen frame, which is one of our most popular choices.
We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the size of your frame. Our website offers many features to ensure our customers select the right frame size. Exact frame measurements are listed with each product, we have an ExactFit Try On Tool to virtually try on each frame, and we have an option to print out an actual-size photo of each frame.Ultimately, the selection of your frame size is entirely up to you. As advised on our site, all frames have their own unique sizing, so the Oxygen would come in only one size. If it does not fit, as advised, we are happy to remake them using another frame style, as per our warranty policy.
Regarding the prescription provided, while we are unsure of the actual prescription that was issued by your doctor, you indicated on the order that you have a -3 sph on a -3 cyl, with an axis of 003, for both eyes. While certainly not impossible, our owners, who are eye doctors, have never seen this, as this is a one-in-a billion prescription. We do suggest that you contact your doctor to verify this prescription, as it is very unusual.
Our customer service manager reviewed your phone call in an effort to better understand the situation. According to the call, you used inappropriate language while speaking with our customer service representative. We apologize if at any point during the call you felt she was being rude to you. Our staff does its best to resolve all issues in a calm and appropriate manner.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced with your order. If there is anything else we can help you with, please do not hesitate to ask.

They say my glasses still in production and probably they will be ready by the end of the week if they pass the inspections. How long will take to make a pair of glasses when lens craters make them in one hour? Even Walmart have them ready more faster. So where's the fast and next day delivery part?
Hi, Juan. We apologize for any confusion. On our website, in the shipping section, we state, “Prior to shipping, your order is custom made in our Long Island, NY laboratory to your exact prescription and PD measurement. Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order.”
When selecting your shipping method, we include a notification that states: “Manufacturing takes an average of 2 -3 business days prior to shipping. Please choose your shipping method.” This message ensures our customers are aware that their shipping selection does not affect the time it takes to manufacturer their order.
When it comes to our production time, please keep in mind that you are ordering a medical device that is custom made to your order specifications including frame choice, lens choice, and prescription. Because all orders are custom crafted, your shipping selection ensures that your finished order arrives sooner, but it does not affect how fast we can make your order.
We apologize for the misunderstanding but your order was completed within production time. If there is anything else we can do for you please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you.

It takes way too long for them to make and ship the glasses. On their website it says it will take 1-3 business days to ship most glasses. I ordered them 6 days ago and they are still not finished putting them together. I emailed twice - no answer. Finally, I called and they said that the frame they were using didn't work and they need to order a different frame. So we are looking at 7-8 days of waiting for my glasses to ship (if they actually get them out by tomorrow). I looked around afterwards and found better deals online. Next time won't order from them...
Hi Wesley, we apologize. On our website it states, "Prior to shipping, your order is custom made in our Long Island, NY laboratory to your exact prescription and PD measurement. Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order". Your astigmatism correction is relatively higher than average and does take a longer time to ensure accuracy. The higher the CYL value, the more careful we have to be of the AXIS range. Please keep in mind that this is a custom made medical device and we and will always take the time to send your glasses out correctly rather than quickly, but incorrectly. We did not have to reorder your frame as we have them in our lab. As with your prescription, any little discrepancy will greatly affect your vision. With that said, your glasses were shipped out on the 5th business day, which is directly in line with our posted production time.
With regard to your emails, your first email was sent to us on Sunday, and since we are not open on weekends, the emails from the weekend are responded to on Monday, in the order in which they are received from Friday evening on. We hope you understand, and we thank you for your patience while we custom made your glasses to your specifications. We have added $15 into your EyeBucks Rewards Points to use on any of your future orders. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I sent my frames into the company to replace the lenses. They sent me an email back saying they could not use the frames. When I asked why they were very rude and said they do not have to explain why. I told them I had a duplicate frame and they said to send that. I sent that to them and they replied "We have decided to cancel your order." They claimed that my frames were too expensive and they did not want to risk damaging them. "Because of valuation of the frames, and because we would not be willing or able to compensate you financially for either of these frames, we would prefer to not risk breakage." I would be very cautious of a company that does not trust themselves to not break a frame that you send them. I paid almost $15 to send them both frames and waited a month and got nothing. I am using glassesusa.com now and not having any issues.
Hi Rob, we apologize that you feel this way about our company. However, we have multiple emails that explain to you that we refused your frame because it was broken, very old, and in poor condition, including the second pair you sent in. All of these factors make your frames very easy to break, a risk that we would rather not take. Generally, when we refuse frames, we issue a refund and send the pair back to the owner and this whole process takes about a week. Yours was a special case as you did not want to take no for an answer. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced and we hope that you find what you are looking for.

I knew someone that purchased the lens replacement service and received great quality lens for a fair price so I decided to give this business a try. My new Prada full framed glasses came with plastic lenses and I was in need of a replacement lens service. So, I provided all the required information and sent the glasses in to be serviced. The ease of ordering was really desirable to me, so I had no complaints and excitedly expected my new glasses in 1-2 weeks. However, 3-4 days after shipping when the company received my frames, customer service reached out to me stating that they could not figure out how to service my glasses. The customer service agent asked what I would like to do with two choices: Full refund and return the glasses or full refund, return the glasses, and ship the frames back to them partially disassembled.
This did not strike me as very professional - offering a service you cannot complete and expecting your customer to perform part of the service seemed ludicrous. And I voiced that much in my email in the most professional way possible. I requested that the glasses be sent back and just asked the customer service agent what the difficulty was. The next email he said, at my request he had his supervisor look at my frames who came up with the same conclusion. I never requested that but fine, whatever. I could get my full refund and frames back soon to take my business elsewhere. Wrong! For some reason, this agent skipped over the part of the email that I requested a return of my frames and after patiently waiting a week, I had to send a follow up email to the agent. He said he would process the refund and ship the frames out.
So now, 2 weeks later I get my frames back, a full rimmed frame by the way. I look by the lens and there are 2 tiny screws holding the frame (where the lens are held) together. It just strikes me odd that a company offering replacement lens would not be able to unscrew 2 screws and replace the lens. I am very dissatisfied with my interaction. Perhaps it was just the customer service representative, but I would stay away for any lens replacement needs. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Hi Aaron, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your order. We are aware of the screws that you mention, however, we found that they were stripped and did not want to force the screws to open as we would have a problem closing it after production.
We do apologize for the request for you to unscrew the frames yourself. Normally, we state that if you would like to try to bring it somewhere locally (like a jeweler) to fixed the stripped screw, you can resend it to us afterwards to be done. However, the email was not worded correctly and has already been addressed with the customer service representative you spoke with.
As a courtesy, we would like to offer to make you a pair of glasses in our Eddie Bauer 8237 frame (http://www.39dollarglasses.com/8237_BLACK.html) which may be similar to the one you sent in, or you may choose a different frame of your liking, free of charge for the inconvenience. We thank you for your patience and understanding and please let us know how you would like to proceed.

I have ordered two different frames. The first was metal frame that I had a week and they broke at the edge of the frame at the nose, at a weld. I called and they provided a second frame free of charge. Took 10 days to get. I replaced the glasses in the new frame and it was about 7-10 days and they broke again. At a weld. I called and complained and again they sent a new frame. The frame name was Leonardo. Since I had so much trouble I decided to order a second pair. This time I ordered a titanium frame. In between, the first frame broke again. When I received the titanium frame I started wearing them. When cleaning them about a week later they pulled apart at the edge by the nose at a weld. I called and they wanted me to send them back. Then told me it would take two weeks to get the glasses back. I explained all that had happen and the Girl explained they needed to see what had happen. I agreed and waited for the RMA to send them back.
Three days later I called to see what happen to the RMA and the operator explained they were suppose to have called me and they going to just send me a new frame instead. But because they had not called, nothing had been done. The operator explained because nothing had happen they would make me a new pair at no cost. I just needed to decide what I would like after receiving the new frame. I decided to get a second pair just in case. This was about three weeks after. I contacted them and asked for a different type of frame, actually asked for a rimless frame. I was then told because it cost more for the frame, I would have to pay and extra 30.00 to get them or find a different frame.
As you can see, this experience has been nothing but a hassle for me. I ask for a different frame and now have been waiting a week and they have not been made as of yet. Showing when you check on the glasses that the order was placed but no progress with the order. I would not recommend this internet site. The reason is that the glasses are obviously made very cheap. Customer service seem great. But then people seem to fall thru the cracks.

Hi. I have been a customer since 2007 and buy a new pair of glasses about every 2 years. I have never had a problem and always received a quality product. This last pair I ordered were not correct so I decided rather than call I would contact customer service via email. I wasn't in a rush. Automated reply stated that I would be contacted in one business day. To my delight I was. Received an RMA and sent it back priority mail at my expense even though 39DollarGlasses offered a free return. Just wanted to get there within the same week. I found I was contacted immediately if questions arose.
After a couple of days ** contacted me and said she would help me personally. During that same day she contacted me once again to inform me the lenses had been put in the opposite sides. No wonder I couldn't see anything. She said my glasses have been corrected and if I wanted that particular pair back. I said yes and received them the next day and they are perfect and I am very happy. 39DollarGlasses quick replies and personalized help is a winner for the customer. I greatly appreciated the personal contact through **. She was upfront and to the point. Definitely one of the best customer experiences I have ever had. Thank you 39DollarGlasses and ** for an excellent customer service experience. I highly recommend 39DollarGlasses for a great product at a really affordable price! Thanks again.
Thank you for your kind words, Peter! We are glad that you are ultimately satisfied with your product. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to ask!

I have purchased six or seven pairs of glasses from them, and had some kind of issue with four of them. First, they shipped with the wrong color frame. With another pair (of reading glasses), they called to confirm the prescription, and then shipped them with the wrong prescription. A third time, one lens was a bit too small for the frame, so it kept popping out. This time, they say in Order Tracking that "Your glasses did not pass final inspection and we are currently expediting your order through production.
We are bypassing the regular tracking system in order to speed up the production process and there will be no further updates until your order is ready to ship. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-800-672-6304. We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience at this time." Nice note, but I don't believe that the tracking system slows down the production process. I think they just stopped tracking the order because it is added trouble for them. I am going to try Zenni next time.
Hi Karl. We are sorry to hear you feel this way about our company. Your satisfaction is important to us and in the event of an error we always do our best to ensure it is corrected.
We are always willing to work with our customers to ensure their satisfaction. You recently spoke to our customer service manager who offered resolutions to your issues.Despite the fact that some of your complaints are for orders that are very out of warranty (dating back to 2011), we are still willing to help fix this. As she explained, we are more than happy to have you return your glasses so we may inspect them for any errors on our part. As stated, this return is at no cost to you and if errors are detected we will absolutely stand behind our products and correct it for you.
Unfortunately, mistakes do happen from time to time. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes but we believe what sets us apart from other companies is our effort to remedy the situation and make our customers happy.
Regarding your most recent order, we have updated your shipping to UPS Next Day Air. Due to the length of time since your previous orders were received, we would like to rectify this as soon as possible. Please contact us immediately if you would like to take advantage of this offer. Thank you.

I specifically chose 39dollarglasses.com from among the many other online eyeglass stores because of their supposedly fast order processing and shipping times. Their website states: "Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order." My order did not include a high prescription or progressives or bifocals. I specifically requested rush service and paid a significant surcharge for overnight shipping.
More than a week after placing my order for one pair of eyeglasses and one pair of sunglasses with the same prescription, I had received absolutely no information from the company about the status of my order or when it would be shipped. I tried using the company's online step-by-step order tracking with pictures but soon realized that it is a gimmick that provides no information on when an item will be shipped or received. They provide no contact email address, but I sent 2 messages through their website contact form and received no response for 5 days. I also tried calling several times but gave up after waiting on hold for more than 15 minutes each time. I finally received my glasses nearly 2 weeks after placing my order, and was not very satisfied with the quality.
The prescription (PD number) for the sunglasses is inexplicably different from that of the regular eyeglasses, the lens edges are not polished (although their advertising clearly stated that they would be), and the dark tint of the sunglasses is very light and not nearly as dark as is represented in the website photos, including the customized photos that were generated by uploading my photo to their website. The sunglasses are virtually useless in bright sunshine. However, I do not plan to return either pair as I do not wish to pay two more times for shipping both ways and wait another 3-4 weeks to receive them again.
I submitted a polite written complaint to the company and received an unapologetic response. The company failed to acknowledge even the slightest bit of responsibility for the delay in processing my order, did not acknowledge or respond to the issue of the poor customer service provided (excessively long phone hold times and failure to respond to emails), and would not as a basic courtesy offer even a partial refund of any of the extra amount I paid for overnight shipping (even though the product arrived nearly two weeks after being ordered).
For the record, I am a small business owner and I understand that sometimes things go wrong and unexpected delays happen. However, in these cases, prompt, honest, frequent, and reliable communication is critical to providing good customer service, as is taking responsibility for the company's errors. This clearly does not appear to be the policy of 39dollarglasses.com. I believe that this company uses deceptive advertising regarding their order processing time frame and also offers very poor customer service.
Hi Greg, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your order. We would just like to take the time to clear up any misconceptions you may have with our production time and warranty. To start, your order shipped on the 7th business day as Memorial Day was within that time frame. As you pasted in your review, our website states that "Over 95% of all orders ship within 1-3 business days. For some higher prescriptions and multifocals (progressives and bifocals) it may take up to an additional 1-4 business days to process your order.”
While you are correct in saying that your prescription was not for multifocals, you do in fact, have a moderately high prescription. A -4.5 and a -7 is considered a high prescription on its own not counting the astigmatism correction (CYL and AXIS). You ordered a Super High Index package for thinner lenses, which led us to believe that you were aware of your higher prescription and the possibility of additional processing time. We apologize if you feel that any part of this is deceptive, but we believe it is very straightforward because we did in fact, meet the time frame, as business days do not include weekends and holidays. The amount you paid extra was for UPS Next Day Air, not for rushed processing. By paying extra you cut the shipping time from 3-4 business days to one day after your order leaves our facility.
We understand that you asked for rush processing in your order notes, but that is not a service that we offer nor do we advertise it anywhere on our website. All orders are made in the order in which they are received. If there is anything on our site that indicates that we do so, please let us know where it is as we do not want to mislead any more customers.
The next thing we would like to clear up is that on our “Worry Free Guarantee” it states that we provide free return shipping. We provide you with a return shipping label, we also pay for shipping back to you so at no point do you pay for shipping to exchange a product. Upon further investigation, we see that both your emails were responded to within one business day each time. If this not accurate, please provide us with the email thread so that we may rectify the situation on our end, to ensure it does not happen again.
We have sent an RMA and a prepaid shipping label to the email address you provided on your order for you to return your sunglasses. We do apologize for the lightness of the tinting and want to make it up to you, but we would first like to inspect the prescription to ensure the fit and accuracy of the new pair which we are remaking free of charge for darker lenses and a corrected prescription. If this email is not in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folder. We hope you will give us a chance to correct your glasses. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Please be very careful when ordering glasses from this site. It appears that I inadvertently entered a minus sign instead of a plus sign on one of my prescription fields. Although I have no way to prove it was me, let's assume I did it. When I received my glasses, I, of course, couldn't see out of them so I sent them back along with my optometrist's prescription. It was free to do so as advertised.
When I received my second pair of glasses, there were two issues with them: the bifocal line was too high so I couldn't see at any distance, and the frame was misshapen; it had a noticeable flat spot on the bottom of one eye frame. Even if the prescription had been done properly, I would have sent these back as well. After talking with a customer services rep, I was told I could get only half of my money back even though this second pair was clearly defective. I decided to walk away from this company as I felt the product I had gotten (albeit the second one) should have been replaced without charge. The second one was clearly not my fault.
Hi Scott, we apologize that you feel this way about our company. Any time an error is made, we always ensure that it is corrected.
We have reviewed your order, and the first order was placed online by you. When your doctor advised you that the prescription on the lenses were incorrect, he was right, because it was not ordered correctly. This was confirmed by the copy of your prescription that you sent to us. We want to assure you that we did not change your prescription after you placed your order. As a company that is owned by two eye doctors, not only would that be unethical, it does not benefit us to do so as we offer to remake glasses at no cost, even if the error is not on our end. Therefore, we would have no reason to do so.
Once you place your order, an email confirmation is sent to you immediately and it will show you the prescription you entered when you placed the order. Please check that, as that would be the verification you are searching for. If you do not have that email, we can send you another one as we always keep a copy.
After we honored our warranty and made you a new pair, free of charge, you contacted us after receipt to let us know that the reading segment was made too high and that there was an issue with the frame. The issue you described with the frame was easily corrected by replacing it (all our frames are covered for one year). As per the phone call, we advised you to send it back to be inspected or if you wanted to change the frame style and/or remake the lenses, there would be a 50% remake fee or 50% refund as we already remade your glasses for free once.
We received the glasses back and upon inspection, found that the prescription was made accurately and the segment height was also made accurately according to the nose position that you chose when you placed the order. If any defect was found during inspection, we would have gladly remade your glasses at no cost a second time. Since no defect or errors were found, the 50% refund still stands, and while we apologize for any dissatisfaction, we do make our policy clear that only one remake is covered under our warranty. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

First few pairs of glasses I received were fine, however recently each pair has had issues, one pair was returned for tooling marks on the frame, another soon to be returned for similar reasons. My first pair of Rx sunglasses were great, due to a prescription change I reordered the same frame with the same type of lenses just a different strength. However the frames I received are not "Identical"... using a caliper I found a few measurements are different, could just be a change in manufacturing, not horrible, just misleading. Also the lenses are mounted poorly in the plastic frame, leaving a wavy texture around the lenses like it was heated and pushed by fingers to be tight. I work at two universities with students and will be sharing my experience with everyone I can. Quality control seems to be inconsistent and really not worth the money & annoyance of it.

We have been a customer of 39DollarGlasses.com for 5 years, having orders some 9 pairs of glasses. Our most recent purchase in February was for a Rx pair of glasses with transition lenses. Not long after we got them we noticed some discoloration in one corner. It progressively got worse, so we wrote to the company. We were told that they only replace the glasses within the first 30 days (we were at about day 45).
It would cost us 50% of the original cost to remake them. I tried to explain it was a manufacturing defect, but apparently, it does not matter. They do not replace defective glasses after 30 days. It seems our only options are to pay to ship them back, pay 50% to remake them, and pay to ship them back to us, or live with it. We are having the glasses remade by a different company and will never use 39DollarGlasses again. I will not do business with a company that does not stand behind their product.
Hi Tim, we apologize that you feel this way. We have looked further into your issue and based on what you advised in the first email, from our experience, we know that when a coating peels in the manner that you described, it is usually because the lenses were scratched or damaged. We did not realize that you were saying that it just started happening out of nowhere as this is very uncommon with Transitions®. So when you asked how to replace them, we thought it was because they were damaged, not defective, hence the offer to remake them at a discounted price. We have reviewed the emails and you were not advised to pay for shipping in any of them. Also, the warranty would not have mattered if the product that was sent out is defective, we will always correct the issue to ensure customer satisfaction. Even if you agreed to pay the remake fee, we would not have charged you if we received the glasses back and saw that it was defective and not damaged.
We see that you have been a customer of ours for quite some time, and we hope that you know from experience that this is not how we operate - it was a miscommunication that we do apologize for. As stated in a previous correspondence, we sent you an email with a prepaid shipping label so you can send your glasses to us for a full refund if you wish to do so. We cannot stop you from going to another company, that is not the reason why we are offering a refund. We would just like to do whatever we can to correct the problem as we do not want your final impression of us to be that we are not trying to come to a resolution. Thank you for your understanding.

Placed my order for prescription single vision sunglasses and a pair of readers. They were made incorrectly, I could not see out of either pair. I spoke with Customer Service and the representative said he would put in an order to remake them and sent a shipping label for me to return the glasses. I immediately sent the glasses back (that day). I later discovered that they had not begun the remake as they were waiting for the original glasses to be returned but upon investigation on my end, the package had been received by them a few days prior. Then they said they would remake them and I would have them soon. I received one pair today and they were the same glasses - they had not remade them...supposedly the other pair has been remade but I do not have them yet. It has taken five weeks to this point and I am disgusted.
Hi Kelly,
We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your order. We want to put you at ease and let you know that it is never our practice to deceive customers. Your remake order was most definitely made, as it does not benefit us to send you the same defective pair which we know would only cause more problems than solutions.
We understand that you are currently working with our Customer Service Manager because the prescription was entered in reverse when you placed the order online and we are in the process of correcting the issue. The probability of us remaking a pair and them being wrong, is very low and the issue is likely related to the prescription being entered incorrectly or prescribed incorrectly. Our company is owned by two eye doctors who understand the importance of good vision, so our glasses go through a detailed inspection process before being sent out.
If we send you the corrected prescription, and you still are not able to see out of them, we are happy to give you the refund that our Customer Service Manager advised you of but also recommend that you take another eye exam. We take pride in our products here at 39DollarGlasses, and we are always willing to work with you until we reach a resolution. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Well, I told her I would donate the extras to people that needed them. Glasses in Canada are overpriced, a ripoff, I buy them when in Florida. Nonetheless I still waited a week for them to even ship the glasses, "due to my prescription," which was actually pretty average (-3,-3) . And once they did arrive, they just looked so cheap, I put them aside as an emergency pair. I also ordered from another company online, and it was actually cheaper...about 40 bucks total, and they were shipped quicker, and all around better quality. My son lost his glasses and needed new glasses for school. This was going to cost $150 from the optometrist, but I had the diagnosis, and it would cost $40 from this site. He was going to have a couple weeks off from school over winter break, and I read the notes on this site, and they said 95% of the time the glasses would ship in 3 days. So, that would work. I ordered the glasses and paid for 2-day priority shipping. I should have the glasses in 5 days.
But after a week the status on the website didn't change. So I got in touch with them on chat. I was told that their site says "95% of the time it will take 1-3 business days and in some cases of special glasses another 1-4 business days". I pointed out these are not special items, but they didn't care. It seemed like I should expect 7 business days before saying there is a problem. Which is what it took. Then the 2-day shipping took four days, and ran over into the three day holiday weekend, which wasn't their fault, but it made things worse. So in the end it was over two weeks to get these glasses.
The glasses came in fine, and he put them on, and said they work great and he likes them. If the site says expect two weeks to get glasses, this would be good. But they lead me to expect 5 days, and in the end my son had to go to over a week of school without glasses. People should know to expect over two weeks to get glasses from here at least. The expected ship times stated seem to just be an outright lie.
Thank you for the update, Douglas! We are glad that in the end, you're satisfied.

Thank you for the wonderful review, Sarah! We are always glad to hear from a happy customer!

After reading many of the reviews I noticed a pattern for bent frames, cheap frames, forever shipping and wrong prescriptions. I would be okay with a bent frame because that is very easy to fix, but not a wrong prescription. Well I got my order today (9/10/14) after ordering on 9/4/14. It only took six days. One pair, Tony Brown - 6.00 Clear Seiko super high index lens, SR + UVA/UVB + anti-reflective coatings and frame are very light. Lens is sharp and clear, no blemishes. As long as you are not expecting the quality feel of a designer frame, you should be okay. Frame is cheap, but looks nice. The other pair I got was a Fulton Matte Black, same prescription but in a Pkg. F: Polycarbonate polarized sun lens. Sharp view but not as sharp as the Seiko. Fulton frame is made better (stronger) than the Tony Brown frame. Very happy with both for the price.
Thank you, Anthony! We are so happy to hear that you are pleased with your order!

This was my very first time to order glasses online, and I used various reviews to choose the right company, but within my restricted budget. I picked my glasses using the virtual imaging available on the easy-to-navigate website. I was nervous about what they would be like in person, how long, etc...I received my glasses in about a week. They are fantastic, well made, perfect vision and I got them in about one week! I chose a pair I would have chosen at an optical store (went with Hemingway) and am so impressed. At $68 bucks, SHOP USA and try this company.
Thank you for this wonderful review, Rick! We greatly appreciate it!

After realizing that I needed glasses, I did research on the most price-friendly options after being quoted $300 for the cheapest pair at another store. I saw 39dollarglasses and figured it would be the best option. I did check to see that they were BBB approved, and to my relief, they were. I understood that they would be more than $39 dollars, but what I didn't realize was that my shipping time would take possibly upwards of three weeks. I placed my order on the 15th of July and saw that, upon first inspection, the glasses had failed. The estimated production time of lenses like mine was a mere 5-7 days.
I called customer service two days after they "failed" and was told that they, upon another inspection, should be shipped out by the next day. I called again right at opening time the following day and was told that they needed to be inspected and should be shipped later. The woman at the customer service told me that I should call later to verify. I called at 2:00 that evening and waited another 10 minutes on hold to be told that they, again, should be shipped by that day after inspection. Because that wasn't a very specific response, I decided to call back to ensure that they had passed and would be shipped like she had told me.
On my third call of the day, I was told by a different representative that they didn't pass inspection the previous day and that they were being ordered then as well. Naturally frustrated, I asked the rep to explain why the previous rep told me they were to be inspected that day and shipped then as well, and he told me that she read the status "wrong." He told me that they ordered a new pair of lenses and that they would be there by Thursday and possibly pass inspection to be shipped by Friday.
When I tried to explain my confusion and agitation, he just yelled over me and proceeded to explain why I was wrong instead of rectifying the situation. The customer service team at this company is beyond appalling and dissatisfying to know how little they care about the customer. My two day glasses order at a normal optical store has turned into a minimum of a two and a half week delivery. All of which is terribly inconvenient for someone who gets daily migraines without glasses.

I ordered two pairs of nonprescription sunglasses with upgraded lenses, for just under $100 each. When they arrived, we were truly shocked at how thin and flimsy they were and at how poorly they were constructed. There were visible gaps between the lenses and the frames on both pairs and the lenses were ready to pop out of the frames. One of the temples was damaged at the hinge, making it permanently (and very visibly) bent in at an angle. When I immediately called to ask how to return these trashy and defective sunglasses, I had to wait on hold for some time.
The rep was pleasant enough and I politely mentioned my surprise at the obvious junkiness of both sunglasses. I asked what kind of quality control process they use (none, evidently) and she made it clear that such returns for poor quality were commonplace. Knowingly charging $100 for flimsy, bent, broken sunglasses with gaps between all lenses and frames is their normal way of doing business! The rep said she would email a shipping label to cover the return postage. When the post office scanned that shipping label's bar code as I was mailing the package, I learned that 39dollarglasses had not put enough postage onto the label to cover the return!
They didn't even pay enough postage for me to return two pair of extremely lightweight, flimsy glasses. I had to pay another $5.80 in postage, plus additional fees to track and insure the package. As a point of comparison, I was also returning two packages that were MUCH heavier (each included several heavy jeans and other items); those merchants provided labels that covered all return postage plus tracking/insurance. 39dollarglasses does not deserve your business. Save yourself the hassle and buy your glasses elsewhere.

Please DO NOT send your glasses here if you want to get them re-lensed. I called and asked if they would have a problem with my glasses which are very similar to a style they carry, and that the glasses were my only pair - so delays should be avoided if at all possible. I was promised a satisfactory result only to be emailed 2 weeks later that they can't replace the lenses. They then suggested that I spend even more money and order one of their glasses. I chatted with a customer service agent, who explained that there was nothing she could do even after I explained how unhappy I was with the situation I was in. SO BUYER BEWARE - CHEAP PRICES, CHEAP SERVICE.

I ordered and paid for a pair of progressive lens bifocals. They sent the cheaper lined variety. I sent the glasses back and they wouldn't remake them without me paying $10 more. They maintain I paid for the cheaper ones. Not true. The customer service was rude and ignored my issue. I can get a refund now minus fees, but why do I have to pay for their mistake? We shall see if that actually happens. I no longer trust them. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
We are happy that a resolution was reached. Thank you, Katherine!

I ordered a pair of glasses (the total was $116, NOT $39) that arrived promptly in the mail. The quality was horrible. The frame was so bent/crooked that the glasses were completely unwearable. The frame also came with a visible scratch on top. I requested a full refund, and the company emailed me a return shipping label. I sent the glasses back to them on May 7, and 8 days later, the package has gone back and forth five times between two different post offices because the company sent me a label with an incorrect bar code. I called the postal service to figure out what was happening. When the agent looked up the mailing address of 39dollarglasses.com, he said,"Wow. " Apparently this company has done this A LOT. It makes me think that they are negligent in their return shipping practices. As long as they don't actually get my glasses back in the mail, they will not refund my $116. I am beyond angry.

After having my glasses for only 3 days, I called and told them my prescription appeared to be incorrect since I was not seeing correctly from one eye. This prescription was exactly the same as two other pairs I have. Customer Service said "no problem" and sent me an RMA to return them. I returned them immediately and they acknowledged receipt. They emailed me and said their lab had to check them. After not hearing from the lab, I called and again spoke to Customer Service and told them I was unhappy. They said "no problem" and said they would issue me a refund. Bottom line, they refunded me HALF of the price. BEWARE - they are allowed to make mistakes and penalize YOU for it!

Read some of the reviews here and was somewhat dubious about using this company. Sent my order in and got the glasses back in a week. Wow, glasses were out of focus. What happened? I had made a mistake entering the +/- from my prescription. Got customer service on the phone twice within 15 minutes. Emailed me return postage, and remade the glasses. I offered to pay for my error, and was told there was no additional charge. After waiting a week for the post office to return the glasses, they were remade and back in three days. All things being equal, I am a happy customer!

I ordered two pair of bifocal eyeglasses. The site says they should be made in 5 to 7 days. I didn't get them for nearly a month (after two inquiries). When they finally came, the paperwork accompanying them had the correct prescription (that I had supplied) but the lenses were 100% wrong. It honestly looked as if I were looking through a glass Coke bottle sideways. NOTHING was in focus - near, far or in between. One pair was worse than the other but neither was anywhere near correct. To their credit, they refunded my money without a hassle. The rating above is inaccurate. I am not "angry". I am just very disappointed to wait so long to get a useless product.

A couple of months after buying a pair of glasses from 39glasses, the coating, for which I paid extra, started to wear off of the left lens. A couple of months after that, the problem got pronounced. When I wrote to customer service, at first all they cared about was my order number, which they actually already had via my email address. Then they said I had two pairs, which surprised me. Then they said I must have generated a second order number myself. At no time did they actually deal with the problem of the coating; they had no interest in it or in helping me with it. I now have to get new glasses somewhere else and send them the glasses so that they can see that the coating is worn off of one side of the glasses.

I paid Next Day Air twice and the tracking on the website would say the glasses were complete. 4 days later, I still didn't have them, no call, no emails, and when I called, they would say they took longer than expected and would not refund the shipping. In 2009, we sent in frames to have new lenses, even though 39dollarglasses says that they put new lenses in and sent them to use within a week. This is not true. It was a month. Still, we were satisfied and okay with waiting. This August, we sent frames in again to have new lenses. After that it became a nightmare. They say that an email was sent stating that they would not use the frames we sent. We did not get the email, so we kept checking online for the status. The status each time says, "in production". I tried and tried to call but you but I cannot get through on your phone lines. Would it be that difficult to add an employee and a couple of new phone lines? When I finally got through I received an employee, Lisa. I suggest you request a different employee because she was extremely rude, ran me in circles. I ask to speak to someone in the marketing, administrative, customer complaints, public relations, anyone that I would be able to be treated as a customer, who buys their service and anyone who would be willing to hear the customer's frustration. Well, they were all in meetings! After I called 2 mores times, I received a return call and it was a nightmare. All sorts of excuses and very unwilling to hear why the customer is dissatisfied.
The consequences to me was the experience of feeling like they were trying to make me "the bad guy" and all they could do was make very unfair justification. My comment to them finally ended asking them to stop trying to defend and argue with me. I called as a customer who had suggestions as to how they could better serve the customer. I stated it might just be best to contact someone who had the interest of their business as their prime concern. I do believe they are on to a business that could become a very successful business. As I think of Steve Jobs recent passing, I believe Steve Jobs would not have tolerated employees who do not hear and care about the customer. I believe he was successful for many reasons, but I believe he demanded a lot from his employees. If $39dollarglasses has the same desire to build a great business, they are going to have to understand and listen to what is causing their customers to inform others of bad experiences. Therefore, former customers no longer use their service and also are suggesting others to ask them, if they want to pay for services that do not put the treatment of the customer utmost important. It simply comes down to a company that needs to make some changes so they do not treat their customers as though we are born without just simple common sense. Common sense of knowledge and common sense of knowing it is wrong for a company employee to inform you of incorrect information and think that the customer is going to not see through it. Way too much stress was caused.
