I bought a washer and dryer about two and a half years ago from Home Depot, and I liked the thought of having the coverage past the manufacturer's coverage date, which is this year. So, I bought the Allstate protection plan from them as well. When I had water accumulating under the detergent door and running down the side of the unit to the floor, it was easy to file a claim through a phone call. The only thing was that the person I spoke to asked me to check the hose. I said I couldn’t and I asked her to send somebody here.

I was connected to a company that wound up without any communication at all. The man was extremely rude. I was supposed to have a 10 AM to 12 o'clock noon window. And at 3:30 in the afternoon, he showed up without any apology or any consideration. I told him he was three and a half hours past his window and I've sat here my entire day waiting for him. There was no response. It made me angry that he didn't even have the decency to say he was sorry or that he got tied up. So, I cancelled the appointment. I told him the service was poor. And he left.

I called Allstate back and rescheduled. I said I didn’t want that company and that person to come again, and to schedule me with someone else. And they did. On Day Two, the one that they scheduled didn't come in at all. I found the text that they're coming on Sunday morning. So, I called back and asked if they made a mistake. It's not an emergency and I asked why they were bringing somebody out on a Sunday. I thought it was going to cost more money to do that. And they said that's the way it is. But the repair person did not show up at all, and I was annoyed. These service plans are either not what they were, or this is a crappy one. They automatically, without even calling me, rescheduled me. I got an automated message on Sunday night that the techs are coming on Monday between 10:00 and 12:00. This time, I was sitting and waiting. My husband and I were doubtful. At 12 o'clock, no one was here.

I called Allstate back again and asked if someone was coming. I told them it was the third time and I was waiting for somebody. So, the rep said she would call them and would let me know. She called back to say that the tech was late but he would be here. The guy came. But he also didn't speak at all. There was no discussion. No communication. I showed him where the leak was coming from. I had taken a video of it, and he opened it up and looked. He said he didn’t see anything wrong and that it was dry, and he left. He documented that he couldn't find anything leaking. I did laundry, and water was coming out from the drawer where you put the detergent. It was dripping down from there but I could still use the machine.

I got an email from Allstate saying they couldn't fix it or couldn't find anybody to send out. I couldn't understand that. They gave me the authority to hire somebody on my own and said that they would reimburse me for the cost of the visit, as well as the parts. I called a repair person, and I am waiting for him to find the time to come here to do it. So, I haven't even had it fixed yet. Allstate texted me, and if I agreed to find somebody on my own, they would send me $100. I have 30 days to get somebody here to correct the issue. I came away from thinking that protection plans are useless. I was not feeling good about it. It just seems surprising to me that the guy couldn't figure it out. But I feel as though I can count on Allstate to resolve my issue and support me through this. I feel confident that Allstate will stand by this and straighten it out.

      Reviewed June 10, 2026

I submitted a claim with Allstate because the bottom of my LG refrigerator stopped making ice and it was not freezing. We had an error code that said FF on it. The guy came out. He replaced the fan assembly down in the freezer, which includes two fans, and he said a thermostat. It was all one big piece. He replaced it. I asked him before he left if he could turn the refrigerator back on. He didn't even plug it back in, so that concerned me. He left around 6:30 that night, and in the morning, when I woke up, there was a really loud noise coming from my kitchen, and it ended up being the replacement part. Really loud, and it was not cooling correctly again.

Now, it's not just my freezer, but my refrigerator is not cooling properly. Because we keep the thermostats in both of them, and it was 46 degrees in my refrigerator, and it was set for 36. I let them know it’s making a really loud noise, and it’s now the refrigerator and the freezer are not cooling properly. The guy came back from the same company, and he asked me if there was a fan in the refrigerator. I was thinking he should know this. But I was polite, and I said, “I have no idea. But my husband, who's a mechanic, said that the noise is coming down below in the back, where the parts that you replaced.” He said, “No, I think it's coming from up above the refrigerator.” He asked me if there's a refrigerator fan. I said, “I don't know, but I can try to pull a schematic up on the refrigerator.” He said, “Oh, no. I think it's the refrigerator fan.”

I said, “I don't. This noise just started after you replaced this piece. And if you pull the fridge out from the wall and put your head down there, you'll hear that it's coming from down below.” Long story short, he took everything back out. My husband felt that it wasn't seated properly, the part that he put in, so that the fan was hitting something. That's why it was making a loud noise. He didn't want to hear it, but yet he was like, “That's weird.”

He took it out, put it back in. Now, there's no noise anymore. I said, "Okay, what about the cooling? I have a problem now with my refrigerator.” He said, "You just need to give it time to work.” I said, " Okay." I've been giving it time, checking on it, and the ice maker stopped making ice. It was set at zero. I had to move it down to -3. Then I had to lower my refrigerator to 34.

When Allstate called me to ask how the repair was, I was like, ”No, it's really noisy, and now it's not cooling.” They said, “We have to take care of the noise first.” I said, “Okay. Just so you know, I want it documented that neither is cooling properly.” And she said, “Okay.” But then she must have done another order, ‘cause she sent two new parts. And the guy's supposed to come today from a different repair company called Home Solutions. I'm not there, but I made arrangements for my son to be there. I got a text from the repair company this morning saying that they canceled. I called AllState. But they said, "No, it wasn't canceled.” Then he called the Home Solutions repair place just to verify, and the customer service has been wonderful.

They definitely are trying to help me. So, he asked me to hold. He called them. They said it's still on their list to come today and repair my refrigerator. But I have a feeling it's going to be a no-show today. But hopefully, that won't be the case. So, so far, I'm not thrilled. My refrigerator doesn't work. Thank God, we have a refrigerator in the garage, and I put everything that I could in our garage fridge. But everyone at AllState has been very friendly and helpful. And they don't just blow me off. Their customer service is exceptional. The follow-through with the warranty repairs is mediocre. Hopefully, they're really coming today.

I bought five identical chairs. The first chair that I put in a claim for lost the hardware in one of the lower rungs. It fell out, and there was a crack in the wood. So, Allstate replaced that chair. One by one, I'm using them. They're lined up in my kitchen at the counter, so there's not a lot of activity. I’m retired and we don't have a lot of traffic flow in the house. I use this one on the end. When that one fell apart, I moved the next one down and I used that. The same thing happened. The wood didn't crack but the hardware fell out. My husband put it back in, and it fell out again. I put in a claim for the second one. I moved that chair out, moved the third one down. I couldn't believe it but after a little while, not too long of using that third one, the same hardware component fell out.

I wish I could have just returned all of chairs. I spent over $1,000 on them. Allstate replaced two of them, and I have a claim in the third. They've been wonderful to deal with. However, when I bought the chairs and the protection, I thought I would get five years protection if something happens with normal wear and tear. But when the chair falls apart or has this defect, Allstate will replace it, but I can't buy any further protection.

I wish I could also buy some additional coverage for the next four years. But Allstate's policy is I can't. I'm gonna use them. I have no choice. But I'm afraid that the hardware is gonna drop out again. I don't want anyone to get hurt. I've been in this place for a year. I have these stools. Even though they're replaced, I have no recourse if something happens. I'm a little frustrated with that. But the customer service, the amount of time I wait to hear back from them, has been wonderful. I felt secure in knowing that a piece of furniture that I expected to have a bit of use would be covered if something were to happen. I didn't expect anything to happen. It's a little frustrating to have the same thing happen to three chairs. It is a manufacturer issue.

My treadmill was not working. The belt was not moving. That was when I started working with this claim. I thought that when I purchased the plan, NFM is going to send their own technician, but they directed me to SquareTrade, who directed me to Allstate. It was a big hassle what I had to go through. When I opened the claim, Allstate recommended some technician. When I went with the technician, they gave me a quote, and it was ridiculous. It is almost 200 bucks per hour.

I raised that concern with Allstate, asking them what if these days, I just spend money on troubleshooting and let the parts be additional. They said it will only be available for 1,000 bucks. That is the max they can cover. If they spend three hours and they couldn't find anything, in the sense that they couldn't fix it because they don't have the expertise, like what the actual company comes with. They said, still go ahead. So, I went with these technicians, and they came. In one hour, they said the problem is with something. Luckily, the parts were covered by the manufacturer.

I ordered the parts from manufacturer warranty. The second time the technician came to fix it, some guy who spent almost three hours, which is ridiculous. He had no clue on what to fix. And he broke my console. He had the audacity to say that, “Your console is always a problem.” These guys are a big cheaters. And if what Allstate is recommending are these guys, block them. They are fitness machine technicians. They sent one bad technician, he spent three hours, he messed up my console, and they charged 400 bucks. Overall, I spent 680. I produced the bills to Allstate as well. And I fought for Allstate because I know money is coming from either you are from me. I have a lot of emails going with those fitness machine technicians asking them, “This is something that you broke and you shouldn't have sent someone who don't have expertise. And they spent three hours. I'm not going to pay for their training.”

But they denied all those things, and because they already charged it. I told Allstate that, “I already informed you in the first mail itself that what if they spent the time and doesn't fix the equipment?” They said, still, go ahead. I have that equipment lying there. It is not working. Finally, Allstate gave me credit for that one, Allstate. Maybe Allstate doesn't have any idea as well on how these fitness machine techniciansdays rob the customers. I would ask Allstate to not recommend those guys to any of their future customers, because customers will end up paying lot of money. Other than that, it's great. It was seamless.

Allstate Protection Plans very good, trustworthy, and polite. They have been with me right up front, every step of the way. It was an excellent experience. At the time, there was no one available to send when I had a problem with it. But that's because there wasn't anybody available. When I told them after a few weeks that that they should reimburse me for what I paid for it, they did that. They were very good about that. My washer would continue to drip water inside the tub even though it was shut off. They were very good about taking care of the issue right away. They were also very good about answering my questions and helping me. They didn't have anybody available at the time. They stayed in touch with me. And when I got ahold of them, they were very good, because I said I need my washer. My grandchildren live here, and I have three little kids. I have a house full. Since they didn't have anyone available, they reimbursed me.

Within the week, I already had a check in the mail. I spent more than what they sent me, but that's because I also had my washer removed, the one that didn't work. I added to it what I needed to add to it, like an extra 25 to remove the old one. But I turned around and I used the money to get a new one, and I had one delivered right away. The warranty is worth it for a washer or some big appliance like that. Have it.

I couldn't afford to go out and buy another brand new one. It wasn't a cheap machine. I paid under $1,000. This was a good machine, well made. I had one like it in the past. I had it a long time. I bought another one, the same exact brand, and it was less than a year old. It wasn't very old when I started having problems. I don't know if the seal broke or what happened inside the tub. And I can't have anybody work on it. When it's under warranty, you have to get ahold of them so they send their own people. They told me that I could find someone else to try to fix it, and they would reimburse that way. But I couldn't do that because I couldn't find anybody. I would have to put the money up front, and they would reimburse me. But I didn't have money to do that, and I told them that. They didn't argue the fact. They just went along with what I needed, and it worked out perfectly. I was without my washer for three weeks.

I bought an Allstate protection plan online and they let me know everything that I needed to know about what would be paid. It was very detailed. When I had to file a claim, it was completely online, and it was extremely easy. The turnaround time was great as well. Between mailing and getting the laptop back, it was about 20 days.

I recently had something repaired on my dryer. It wouldn’t work. I had a telephone number for Allstate that I called, and we went from there. In the past, it has been a little confusing because they want you to download something and send it. But that's not an easy thing for me to do. I have minimal experience doing that. But everything worked out great.

I called them. The part was delivered. And the technician showed up and, in two seconds, put it together. I could have done it myself if they told me. But it was a dial. The dial wasn't working on the dryer. It’s perfectly functioning now. However, I should not have had to wait one week not to use my dryer. It was a simple procedure. Took the dial out and put the dial back on. I could have done that myself. But other than that, I was very pleased. I would never purchase an appliance without a warranty, as appliances are not made as they have been in the past. It's much more economical to purchase a warranty at the date of purchase.

It's best to get a warranty as the new machine are not worth much anymore, I was disappointed from start to finish. I explained what the problem was given an appointment date but then I get a call from the Service Tech and was given a different date. Then they sent parts by what i explained and when the tech came out he said it wasn't that and ordered parts. So now we are going onto 10 days with this issue. And truthfully the Tech was not very professional. I asked question that he could not answer and when he came the 2nd time to do the repair with the parts he said he needed (which did not fix the problem) he was on his phone the whole time. And after all that I had to call once again to see what the status of the repair was and was told I would know within 24 hours whether it would be serviced or a reimbursement would be made. Lets just say it was a very long 2 weeks.

I have a Google 6a Pixel and through the Home Shopping Network, I purchased an added protection plan. There have been two claims filed since and the customer service through Allstate has been excellent. We had a cracked screen for one of the claims, and they replaced it. The screen had a green tint to it. They said, “Oh, maybe it was the manufacturer’s.” So, they replaced it a second time, but the screen always had a green tint in high-intensity situations. Anytime the screen was supposed to be white, it looked like a tint of green.

The second claim was about problems reading the SIM card. We replaced the SIM card, and that still didn't fix it. The claim was submitted, being mailed off, and luckily, the resolution was a paid in full check, but getting to know that wasn't clear until I got the SIM card failed back to me too. I would have liked a little better resolution before that. I got a check mailed to me, and I didn't know what it was for, then they mailed the SIM card to me, which made sense to me that they damaged it out.

The customer service was fantastic all the way through and I was very pleased with Allstate’s submission. I was expecting an automated system to go through, and I reached a real person, which was nice. Getting an automated system would have just frustrated me more and more. The person I spoke with was very knowledgeable, and extremely polite, and nice. We were considering purchasing an Allstate protection plan with a new phone, but it wasn't an option when we purchased the phone. If the price is right, we'll do another protection plan to the new phone.

They sent someone to check the condition, but the claim wasn't approved. I received an email saying they couldn't proceed because the foam wasn't covered under the protection plan.

I wouldn't recommend Allstate because the issue I had was due to normal usage. So, if I'm getting insurance for a product, it should cover all aspects of it. If I buy another couch, I wouldn't get the protection plan again. Allstate should clearly state what is and isn't covered when issuing the protection plan. I only learned about the wear-and-tear exclusion after reading the fine print. If they had explained those important details at the time of purchase, it would have been easier for the purchaser.

6 weeks and calls to Costco it's clear Allstate, Square Trade and Costco are attempting to scam people with extended warranties. I have a $1.5k 75" LG TV that Allstate quickly diagnosed as a bad screen. "Don't worry. We will help you get a replacement," they said. After they offered an inferior TV $600 at any local retail location I refused to accept an inferior product. Magically they came back following my next call with a comparable TV. I accepted the replacement within 45 minutes. Suddenly they came back and said that TV is no longer available. Now weeks later they offer an inferior TV. I say no. They go silent. I call again. They assure me it will get addressed if I will wait one day to the senior team to review. I will get an email from the team.

24-48 hours later I get an offer for the same or similar inferior TV. So it's ok to get an extended warranty that is sold to me to be from a superior company on premium product and you choose to offer me a lessor product. That is a scam.... I bought a Mercedes level TV and you want me to accept a Tuck Tuck/Golf Cart. Note to all customers - run from Allstate and its subsidiaries and reputation is no longer important. Another company that had a quality reputation gone....

The icemaker quit working and it's under contract with Allstate. I submitted a claim on the phone and the reps I talked to were wonderful. Then, the techs came out and discovered they needed a part, so they ordered the part and came back. But they sent the wrong part, so they made another appointment. In the meantime, during the second trip, they fixed the icemaker, so it would work for a little while, but they didn't guarantee it. Finally, after a month, they got the icemaker repaired and since then, it's been working fine. All in all, Allstate's reps were very obliging, but the situation was very complicated. I've used the warranty before and my experience has always been great. Also, I got a $50 check to reimburse me for all the trouble I had getting the icemaker fixed.

I had a bad experience with an Ebay seller who sold me a defective Ipod. Instead of replacing it, he put in a claim in my Allstate insurance and received the money. 7 months later, I never got an explanation from Allstate how this seller got away with this. I'm still waiting for an explanation why this man collected for a claim under my name and I still have a defective Ipod.

I submitted a claim with Allstate for my daughter’s bicycle. The brake wire disconnected, and one of the brake pads fell off. It was a simple fix they could have done, but they offered a new bike. I was like, "Okay." Then, they only had one bike option. So I took that bike option, and then that bike was too expensive. It was more money than the bike that I bought. It was maybe $15 more.

I didn't understand why that's the bike they selected, why there was only one selection, and it was too much money. They offered to pay me back. I got $98. When I paid for the bike, I had to pay tax. I feel like I paid the $10 for the protection plan, but I feel like it was more than 98. I erased the email saying that they were going to give me the money. So I called and spoke to somebody, and they were wonderful.

Having an extended warranty is very helpful. In 2024, I purchased a video game console and got an Allstate protection plan. Recently, I also purchased a laptop power adapter and an Allstate protection plan for safety purposes. Suddenly, the video game console stopped working. I tried all the options I was given, like switching off the power, then disconnecting and connecting again, but it never connected. When I filed a claim, I just opened the website, entered my console name, item ID, and some basic details, then they told me to do some checks to make it function, but it didn't happen. They approved the claim immediately and sent a new one. Overall, Allstate is good. Purchasing a plan is easy. We can just select when we purchase an item and the claims process is also very smooth.

The product charges now, and I am happy about that. However, it’s pretty difficult to get the charger into the new port. Disappointing considering my four year old granddaughter will now struggle to use the device. We have “trained” her to plug the device in to charge when the battery gets low….not so sure she will be able to do that now.

I would not recommend Allstate protection to anyone. The tech came out because my oven was cooking too fast. He turned it on at 350 and his meter showed a reading of 358. He then said maybe the reading is higher because I recently cleaned my oven. Then he said I need to clean my oven once a month which makes no sense because I don't cook on it often at all. The tech couldn't even set the clock on my range. I don't recommend this plan at all if they're going to use techs that really don't know what they're doing.

We have been without a microwave now for over two weeks. Just when I think we are done submitting paperwork and answering emails, more requests come in which further delays us purchasing a new appliance. For example, we accepted the Home Depot gift card option which stated it would be emailed within ONE day of our acceptance. Now we get an affidavit to fill out and return, adding an additional couple of days to the process. You could better serve your clients by thinking in a parallel fashion rather than serially as this saves time.

I got protection for my kitchen stools because they're used very frequently in the kitchen. When I had a claim for the stools, the item was out of stock. I was afraid they were going to replace it with a different stool and it wouldn't match. I kept calling Allstate and they kept telling me they were emailing me things, but then I never got the email. So, it took quite a number of attempts to get this rectified. Then finally, I did. The reps were very pleasant. The only problem was they kept saying they were emailing me things, but I never got the emails.

I was having another set done, and they told me that my lenses were scratched. I had them inspect them, and they assisted me with what I needed to do. The process was easy and I got replacement of the lenses. Allstate credited me a credit with Sam's. I took that credit back to Sam's, and they sent the prescription in to have the new lenses made. Then they put them in the frames, called me and told me to come pick them up.

I got an Allstate plan with the lawnmower that I purchased. I had to file a warranty claim on it. One day, I went to start the lawnmower, and it wasn't pulling the cord back. So, I took off the top to see if I could see through the metal grid a bit better. It's called like a starter pull. It was getting caught. There's this metal fan that spins to start it, and when I pulled it back, it would eject partially out of the cylinder, and it would get caught on the metal. I filed that to them with that information. I just did it all online with the text messaging with the agent.

I got a refund for it. It's probably because it would have cost about the same if I just sent it to them. It would have to be sent to them, repaired, and then sent back to me. It's like a $240 lawnmower. It's not a very expensive lawnmower. I was looking into just getting it repaired myself, and it said online that it can cost $100 to $150 just to get it repaired. It was ridiculous. That's why they just refunded it.

They were pretty fast and they sent professionals who were able to repair the damaged washer that I had. And so far, it's been great.

I submitted a claim for a mini electric stove. I was working with it. I fully charged the batteries, and they just lasted for five minutes. They just ran out of power on both batteries. I called Walmart first, ‘cause I purchased that item there. As I purchased the protection plan, they told me that I have to start doing that procedure with Allstate, and I was directed to their web page. But with my claim, I had to do it five times ‘cause I wasn't able to do it. It was something with their system. ‘Cause I followed the same procedure that the web page has, and at some point, it got kind of stuck, and I couldn't keep going on till the fifth time.

I called Allstate. I got the number from the internet. And they told me that they don't do this kind of claim, and they gave me another phone. And I called that phone, but it wasn't in their business hours. But eventually, they covered the price of the stove. It helped me to buy another stove ‘cause I need it right here at home. The protection plan worked, but it took a lot of time to do it.
