I was googling and looking for alternative ways to do StraighterLine's general education courses, and I found out my school had a partnership with them. And then I went to my school to confirm and make sure that this was true. Once I got in StraighterLine and start doing courses, it’s quicker. You eliminate all of the other fluff that you have to go through when you’re doing schoolwork. StraighterLine has quality courses, and to me, they have almost more quality than the school that I go to. And they’re really following the curriculum that you need to do in order to learn the courses. They also use quality books. If I needed help, I utilize the tutoring service that they have. I had to call to ask where I should click to get to it, but all the stuff was self-explanatory on the site. They have a good curriculum, and they’re using the right books. I have my subscription on hold, but I plan on going back there to finish three more courses.

I wanted to graduate at a certain time, but I could only enroll in so many courses at one time because of my financial aid at Strayer University. I called my student adviser and asked her about credits that I could earn while taking college credits and they told me that they were partnered with StraighterLine. They sent me a list of courses that I still needed to take to complete my degree, and then they sent me the link for the StraighterLine equivalent. I had an even amount of numbers I could take at Strayer, but there was one course that didn’t fall in that amount, so I took it through StraighterLine. It was one way to earn college credit and I could work at my own pace instead of the amounts I needed, which was appealing.

Things were straightforward. It was easy to figure out and get started. Someone reached out to me by email to let me know that if I needed anything, I could contact them, but I never needed to. The key to being successful as a StraighterLine student is setting personal deadlines and sticking to them. I took way longer than I needed to, to finish the course, but I was mostly self-pacing myself and didn’t do a good job of it. Overall, the experience was good. It really required that I learn the context in-depth. And if I needed it to complete a certification program and StraighterLine was the cheaper option, I would certainly do it again. I'm very satisfied with them.

My school right now gave me courses and told me to take some of it from StraighterLine. I've known StraighterLine a long time. They're really good. When I call them, they're really comprehensive. They give you the time and the answer. They take time to explain everything, and it's like they're willing to help me in anything that I need. There was a time the answer that I was supposed to send was the wrong answer. I called them and they told me there was no problem and that they were gonna try to fix that and let me take it back.

It's not the first time I tried to take a course online and with StraighterLine, it was really challenging but I like challenge. If you really want success, you'd live out to challenge something, and so I learn. My daughter said I really learned. I opened my computer and she looked whatever I do. She studied them with me and she said that would really help her to do whatever she had to do on class. Whatever I see on StraighterLine, it's really good for me. I'm satisfied with them. It's a good center and I recommend anyone or someone who take a prerequisite to do it with StraighterLine.

I would’ve had to take the other classes in about eight weeks each, but I was able to get the StraighterLine classes done in around a week. It’s a lot faster. I knew that I only had two classes that I needed to take in. So, I just transferred for those two and made sure that my university would accept them. I needed some electives to take back to University of Maryland and I tried to take advantage of the online program from StraighterLine ’cause I could do it at my own pace. But they could do better with their proctoring. I had to take one exam and they said that I'd have to take a picture of the environment to make sure that nobody is cheating. They said that the picture I was trying to take wasn't right. I'm not very good with my phone. I told the proctor that I wouldn't mind moving my desktop computer so they could scan my environment. I also almost told him that I wouldn't take the exam anymore but I needed the degree, so I had to take it. It took almost an hour before I could even take the exam after all the drama. There's got to be a better way to make it so that the person taking the exam is not anxious. Other than that, their material is very informative and with the last class that I'm doing, I've really learned a lot with it. I'll recommend them to a friend.

But the assignment on some of the topics are hard to write. It has Frankenstein but under international student. I heard of Frankenstein, but I never read it before. So I have to read and spend a lot of time. I also have to pay for the English for more than three months because I have to read all of them. Other than that, the quality is a bit better than in the classroom. You have to find an available time, but you can choose your time. Also, I just follow the instruction in the course and check when the instructions there were revised already and they'd show me what my mistake was in the assignment. With StraighterLine, I like that the classes were where I could get through my degree faster than waiting and taking two classes with Strayer. I can go to StraighterLine and take classes, and be finished much quicker. At one point you run out of financial aid with Strayer, and then you have to pay for those courses out-of-pocket. If I would’ve taken all the elective classes, I would have been coming out-of-pocket more with the major classes. StraighterLine choose those courses, but I would be coming out-of-pocket. So at StraighterLine, it was faster. It was cheaper.

I needed about twelve electives. It didn’t matter what field it was in. If it’s an elective and it would work, it's gonna count on my behalf, I took it. The learning experience through StraighterLine is good as long as you read. Even with Strayer, you have to read your book, and then they give you like stuff they want you to do. You have to read. That’s why I work at night. I could read all night long because I can’t go to sleep. So, that’s how I was able to get done. And to be successful as a student of StraighterLine, my key was not to rush because when I rush, I fail the class. I pay attention, especially the classes that I don't have notes in, they're not the open-book type final test. Anything that’s not open-book, you gotta read and you gotta remember.

Everyone at StraighterLine who answered the phone, especially DJ, was very helpful. I called all the time to ask about, “What about this class? What do you think about this class? What do you think?” DJ would say, “Well, I don’t know about this class. I can find out.” He went above and beyond, and there was a female who did too. It was like, “Wow! I wish I could take all my classes through you all!” I had a very good experience because it sounded like they cared. If you fail a class, it wasn’t like they would tell you, “You can’t take it again. You have to take it through your university.” And you fail it, they’d give you a discount to take it over. If you fail by a point or two, you can take the final over. I was really impressed!

I failed one of the classes by two points, and I didn’t have to pay for the class again. I just had to take the final again. They gave me a code to take one of my classes again, and I failed that class. I took that code to my advisor. “I’m not going to that class again. It was hard!” I just used it on another class, and I was able to. I was surprised. I’m, “Wait a minute.” I’d recommend a friend to StraighterLine, and I did recommend somebody to take their classes through StraighterLine. There was this girl with me. She took two classes and said she’s gonna take another class. But now that I told her my experience, she’s gonna take seven classes next month.

Thank you very much to ** for taking care of this issue. I appreciate the communication and time that went into finding a resolution. Considering such, my experience with Straighterline feels much more pleasant.

    Original Review: Aug. 19, 2019

I enrolled in Straighterline to take a Statistics course as it was accepted by the graduate programs which I was applying to. I was very happy with the service until I needed to cancel my membership. I needed to cancel my membership when I found out the course would not be accepted by the final graduate program I applied, a school of academic excellence. I cancelled my membership on the same day the automatic payment is to be made. Their policy states that you must cancel the membership within 24 hours in advance (or something similar to such). However, it was not possible for me to do so as I was not advised within 24 hours prior.

In this case, I paid an additional $100 for service that I will not use after already wasting money on taking a course that will not be accepted. Considering such, it would have been reasonable to issue a refund. This seems like a viable option as they offer you a $50 membership fee after you cancel your service the first time to convince you to continue participating in their services. It's interesting to me that they can offer this lower rate but are unable to issue a refund or even a partial refund. However, Straighterline proceeded to remain illogical. I would not recommend this institution. Don't waste your time or money.

You see, I enrolled in the college algebra and expected it to go smoothly. It was anything, but that. The tests for this course have several questions in which you have to manually input your answers. I was fine with that. That was until I noticed my answers were seemingly being deleted or removed. I spent countless hours studying for this exam for me to fail due to answers not being properly saved or "magically" disappearing into thin air.

I 100% regret my experience with this company and wish that I never would have spent any amount of money with them. I have spent several hundred dollars in an effort to complete courses with them and now wish I had went with one of their counter parts. I ran out of financial aid money so I needed somewhere to take my additional 17 credits and StraighterLine had the courses that I needed. I also found the ease of the program appealing. I even found, after a while, that I can take more than one class at a time. I also like the fact that they had every class that I paid for on the dashboard and the interface made it very easy for me to go back and forth between classes.

The only thing that I had an issue with was that although the proctors were wonderful as well, sometimes, it was hard for the system to get connected. Outside of that, the experience was absolutely wonderful. I had matched an admissions team. The guy had set me up a year ago when I originally called them but I took the time to go back. Anytime I called, I never had any issues or problems with getting someone on the phone or having someone answer my questions.

I found it key to be studious. The part that I had to work hard on was making sure I log-in everyday and read. The work is not gonna do itself. I also like how they had a bookshelf app where I could upload the books so that I could have the books on my phone. I could read on lunch break or do some reading while staying outside the confines of a desktop or a laptop. Also, StraighterLine was easy because I enjoy history and all the classes I took were history classes. That’s why the experience was so good for me. In fact, I wish I would’ve saved some money and taken all my electives through them. Any positive reviews here, I'm assuming are written by StraighterLine. I have done 99% of my college experience on campus at a reputable school, and decided to take my final course online. This was a huge mistake. Their elementary Spanish course requests you to submit 3 essays, in which if you use a Spanish dictionary you are flagged as cheating, and if you use simple Spanish words you are graded poorly because you don't sound fluent enough (for a an elementary course). There are different graders for every single submission. Once after inputting the draft graders feedback, I received a lower grade because the next grader had a different opinion than the draft grader. Customer Service keeps no notes of past conversations. They send you auto emails, without ever looking at past conversations.

"Maggie" or "AJ" will be the ones signing your messages, but they are certainly not one person - this is for sure an auto signature. I asked the platform what qualifications graders have, and was told it is internal information. I am a huge supporter of alternative learning options, but StraigherLine is not that. If you want a disconnected, frustrating experience use this platform. Also, reviews you read are filtered through management on their platform. Meaning you don't actually see what past students felt about a course. This is a huge scam. Stay away.

My college mentioned StraighterLine to me when I asked them about websites to seek the remaining credits I had. The service that StraighterLine offered was affordable, easily accessed, and it had direct transfer guaranteed to my college. They had 60 courses that were guaranteed to transfer and I was simply looking for a 100-level class. I was missing one credit and I found a nutrition class that had three credits. It seemed to be a fairly interesting course so that was what I did. Their system was all automated and I was immediately given access after I paid. Then upon completion, I just had to click a button to transfer my credit.

They also have live chat and I used that to ask about their discounts. Te company is always pumping out discounts and I was unaware of one that I was able to use. But the person I talked to about it on live chat was able to hook me up with those $50 off a course. Aside from that, the access to the textbook was free and they have a library of resources that I was able to use. They had good tutorials as well. When it came to the end of the course, I had to have it proctored. They had a whole video explaining how that proctoring process worked because I was unfamiliar with that so having that video resource was useful. I recommended StraighterLine to other students, but I also recommend that the students should talk to the person at the college before purchasing things on StraighterLine because other students that were recommended to use them ended up spending money that wasn’t necessary.

I contacted StraighterLine and they had me email the link to them and said they would call me back. They never called. I reached out via chat and spoke to a rep who, after reading the above said, "What do you want me to do about it?" I told her to cancel my membership. I hate being scammed. Response from StraighterLine

    Sandra,

Thanks for the feedback, I apologize for the confusion, nothing relayed to you by WGU or StraighterLine was meant to be deceptive. What we mean by "everything included" is no hidden fees, anything that has a cost is included in the test prep course. This includes practice tests and test items, textbooks, videos, tutorials, etc.

It is true, especially for IT certification courses for Microsoft, that you might be required to download freely available software that's essential for the skill-based certification and will need to install and use it to best prepare for the examinations. We don't directly host files from 3rd parties because they are the best resource for downloading them (likewise for software from Sourceforge or similar executable file hosting). This is a safe, and common practice, for technical training programs which I think you'll encounter again once you return to WGU.

I hope that helps clarify how free 3rd party software fits into the certification training process.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out (I will put my direct contact information in a DM),

I was unable to finish my undergrad last year due to financial constraints. I ended up later, while working a full-time job, flying back and forth to finish it. It was cheaper doing that commute than attending another school for two years. At that time, I still needed to do Spanish courses so I ended up needing to do it online and I did that with StraighterLine. I tried to do it asynchronously. I was working in theatre and that is not a flexible industry to be working for schedule-wise.

The thing that was appealing about StraighterLine was the fact that I could finish it. It is easy to not do that and let the charges just kind of stack up each month. But if you're motivated and responsible, you can finish your courses relatively quickly. One of my motivating factors was that every month I got charged $100. If I didn't finish the courses quickly, I would need to keep using them. I just needed to get my things done and I mostly had internal motivation for that.

With StraighterLine, the prices were cheaper than enrolling at a community college. StraighterLine was everything was asynchronous for a general requirement. I only took three classes and I found StraighterLine specifically because they had all three of the weird General Education requirements I was missing. They had no influence on my undergraduate study focus. But it was all textbook and computer with StraighterLine. There was virtually no professional or human interaction.

Also, they have to do this thing where they have to allow someone to have complete remote access to your computer in order to take a test. It's a huge security flaw and I really don’t want to get that. Other than those, if you just need to finish something up really quickly, you could do StraighterLine. But if you're looking for a more in-depth educational experience like you actually want to learn Spanish, you should seek out different avenues for becoming fluent in that language.

Enrolling with StraighterLine was fairly easy. They didn't ask too much. I was a student athlete and they told me about a program where you can take up courses while doing athletics to boost your GPA. When I needed to refund a class, I had tech support with a staff member. It took them a while to get back to me at first, which was frustrating. But I emailed them again and within a day they refunded and put the credit on my account, which let me enroll in another course that I could take.

My experience with StraighterLine is kinda hard because the proctor exam service, ProctorU, does everything. Sometimes your livetime might not be working or your camera is not connecting properly and then you miss your exam. And it's hard to reschedule those. As a matter of fact, one of my biggest problems is scheduling exams for one class. It wouldn't schedule, or if it was scheduled, some things like the screen wouldn't come up and go through. So, it's gonna be an extra month just to take one of my exams. Still, I would recommend StraighterLine to all my orgs and students that are still in college. It's hard to learn on your own and the questions are worded weird so it takes a while to get your work done. But for classes like English, everything is smooth. Just stay on top of it and try to get a noncredit as soon as possible, so you don't keep getting charged.

When I went back about halfway through my Bachelor's program at Strayer University, StraighterLine was directly mentioned as a resource to earn some additional credits. Time and speed made me look into online courses. I'm a professional and my workload is pretty heavy. Courses online offer a good alternative to get some things done. I really liked the structure of the site itself. When I first took my first two courses, I did not do as well as I wanted to and tried to rush through them. But the more classes I took, the more I got used to the structure of the program as I started doing better.

I'm very pleased with my interactions with their staff. Every time I needed something, I would email the advisory. On my first course, there was only one professor and it took her a while to get back to me, which was a little disappointing. Other than that, 90% of the interactions were very responsive and positive. The key to succeeding as a StraighterLine student is persistence. I would get into a subject and stick with it. If the student approaches each course like that and doesn’t put it off, the student would do really well.

The final exams are proctored. I've taken the exams six times now, so I'm very used to the ProctorU component. I had an issue on the last course that I took though. I had to use the restroom but the moderator had stepped away from monitoring me for a couple of minutes. I went to the bathroom and I texted that I was gonna use the restroom. They must have come back before I came back and freaked out because they didn’t know where I was. Accordingly, they made me go through the whole vetting process all over again. I had to reshow my desk, my keyboard, the area in front of me, and behind my desk. I lost seven to eight minutes of a one-hour exam, which was critical. I found myself having to rush at the very end and I only scored 60. I've never done that poorly and it could definitely be attributed to that. The moderators should be a little cognizant of sticking on ProctorU when they administer the test.

My counselor told me which classes I could take and which one I didn't need to, so I chose from what she told me that I should take. I called customer service more than once because I have to figure the proctoring and they were very nice. They walked me through it. Just go through the material and try to memorize it as much as you can to be a successful student.

Also, the fact that I was able to work at my own pace appealed to me, so I went with them. When I spoke to their customer service for guidance, they gave me the information I needed. The resources were on point with the class that I was taking. Unfortunately, I had two surgeries and completing the class took longer than I anticipated, but I had a fine experience. I plan to take classes in the future and I would definitely use StraighterLine again.

I failed two classes and I had to finish them up because I’m in my last year. I wanted to do something that would be fast and I heard that StraighterLine was a fast road to get credits. In other places, I have to finish it in a month. It's a set time that they want me to finish. On the other hand, StraighterLine worked at my pace and I really appreciated that.

There was this adviser there named Lily who made me understand the course and what I was gonna get myself into. She went topic by topic and she was explaining to me whenever I had questions about a test. She was very helpful. She also gave me a promotion code which took off about $50 off of my total when I was starting. I finished my course there in two and a half weeks. To be a successful student there, you need good time management. You should have enough time to sit down and go through the chapters and read the notes and then take the quizzes. StraighterLine was good and helpful. I would recommend them.

Any time that I called and had a question or needed something straightened out, everybody was pretty helpful. It was pretty streamlined and easy process to get through. Everything was pretty clear cut and I didn’t have any trouble navigating through anything. Their curriculum was comparable to an actual university's. It was challenging and quality education. It was easy to finish the course. Their user interface was good. But one thing that I noticed is between the browsers I sometimes used to get different courses, authors and course prices. So there was a lot of confusion amongst us in my class. Some used to get the lower priced ones and some used to get the higher price. I have called the customer care of StraighterLine a couple of times and I used to get answers saying that they're planning to remove one of them but they have not been able to do. I was back in school and I asked my advisor if there were other ways that I could take additional classes that wouldn’t take as long to finish. Initially, I didn’t have anything that was drawing me to StraighterLine but I was told that it is a good service. When I asked if other students had used it, I was told, “Yes”. So, I investigated and signed up. Once I got there, I enjoyed the experience. I knew what I needed and I tracked down and made myself do an elaborate spreadsheet of what I needed to take. Then, I went on StraighterLine to see which classes they had that matched, what the classes I needed from Strayer were, and then I contacted Strayer to make sure that those classes would count as an equivalent so that my credit would transfer. Once I confirmed it, I enrolled those classes based on that.

I had questions and when I called, the people from StraighterLine helped me to make sure that I was getting what I needed. I got different people, but there was one rep who stuck with me. I talked to her in December because I'm taking my last classes with Strayer now and I think I'd graduate in March. I was struggling through Physics and with a lab that I had that I was gonna have to take and she helped me. Although, Strayer changed some of their class alignments so that a different class was now eligible for transfer. The rep did some investigation for me to find out on their end whether I could do or couldn’t do it. She went above and beyond. She told me to verify from Strayer although she thought it can be done. She laid out good detailed plans so I knew exactly what I was gonna need to do, what steps to follow and get what I needed.

She let me know that if I needed anything else, I could always call back. But even if I didn’t get her, their people were always there to help me. StraighterLine’s material is straightforward and I did not feel a lot of bluff with it. I'm a substitute teacher right now as I'm finishing through school. I have the advantage of the extra time so, I would have whole days where I'm not working. I could sit and read four or five chapters a day, take a test, and I still have a whole day. And for someone working full-time, there are also books that they offer where definitions can be highlighted and then take notes and there are certain pages that can be bookmarked. Their tools make it a lot easier. It was like I don’t even have to have a pen, paper and notes and it can all be done electronically. I just have to ask what are available.

Moreover, when I was waiting on my daughter to finish up a ballet, I started a test online at home. I was literally able to close out and log back in and finished taking it while I was sitting in the parking lot of the ballet. It was really convenient because I was really ticked that I had to do that. Plus, knowing that the system was really seamless, I can still literally have a whole functional life which was good. And if someone wants to be successful, they should take advantage of all the tools that they get and read all the details, because it was something that I figured out after my second class with them. It's perfect. I like that it is there although it's not like it wasn’t there.

It is great that there is a way that I can expedite my education. At $100 a class per month plus all the fees, I saved probably $13,000 by taking classes through StraighterLine along with taking courses through school. It was four additional quarters of class I would have had to take which was like four grand of fees. It saved me a whole extra year and a half almost of classes that I didn’t have to. I started in January of last year and I took a total of 13 classes with them. I'll be 34 and I have been trying to get my undergrad since I was 18 because it was kinda off and on. But, I am able to finish it and I probably would have given up by now if I knew I still had all these classes to take. It is a saving grace and I could get it done in my own time. StraighterLine is great. They started offering some financial aid which helps those who cannot afford to self-pay. I was fortunate enough though to be able to self-pay.

I did the Biology or Anatomy and I liked how each section was detailed with extra resources that I could do to understand the concept. There were extra little short presentations on what to read. I also liked how it was not so much in one module and that it was broken down and if I had questions, I could always go back and look at whatever information it has. Moreover, I would either call or chat with the professors if I had any questions aside from what I did not understand.

StraighterLine worked perfectly for me and I was able to do the needed credit online. It helped that I am able to do it at my own pace to understand it and be able to take the testing or the quizzes. I did not have to rush through anything. Plus, the price worth was great. Reviewed Jan. 23, 2019

I was at Cleveland Chiropractic College and I needed to finish up Gen Eds. I was doing most of those through their undergraduate program. It’s for eight weeks so I can get through things a little faster, but I wanted to make it faster than that. I was talking to some of the students that had already started the program about other options. Their credit hours there is like $600 a credit hour. I didn’t wanna go over what my cash flow would allow. I took the minimum each trimester, about 14 credit hours at Cleveland. And then one of the other students recommended StraighterLine as a good choice for out of pocket.

I already knew what classes I had to finish up and they were the classes that I would’ve had to take another trimester at Cleveland. All of those classes were gonna fall in the last three months at Cleveland. I went online to StraighterLine to see which one sounded as similar as possible to the ones that I was already signed up for. It’s nice being able to go at your own pace. Some weeks, I’d be a little heavier on the classes. And so, I set StraighterLine aside. And then once I have gotten the grove with it, I started focusing on StraighterLine on the weekends.

On a Saturday for Sociology, I read 10 to 16 chapters as quick as I could and just try to take in as much information as possible. And then I take the test, see how it goes and then move on from there. Some of my friends have done it a little differently. They’ve taken it a little slower, and they have good results that way too. But for me, I tried to designate my weekends to solely StraighterLine to try to put as much time as possible knocking out classes. That worked well for me.

I like how StraighterLine does the course description, and then it has the course objectives. I would just screenshot those and bring it in to the counselor at Cleveland and ask if it will transfer or is it gonna work for the same classes even though it’s a little bit of a different name. The objectives are similar. And they were able to say that these have similar objectives.

Initially, I got too bogged down in extra reading and extra assignments because they provide a lot of extra tools to make sure that you really understand the content. But for me, after I got the hang of it, I don't even know that I needed a lot of those supplemental materials. Almost everything was covered in the chapters. It became quicker for me to read the chapters and see what the objectives were at the end of the chapters and highlight them. And then just take the test. It was nerve-wracking. When you first get in there, you think you need to get 100% on everything. But if you just jump in as soon as you're done reading it and take it, it’s not so scary. And a lot of them even allow you to look up and access the online test. If you forget something, as long as you oriented yourself with the chapter and where everything is, it makes it quick to find stuff.

The first time, I probably spent two weeks on the first core chapters to try to get it for the business class before I took the test. But I didn’t need to. It was too much. You didn’t have to memorize every little detail. Just get in and start taking the test. It’s a good way to knock out classes. The only thing was, I had planned on taking the written comms through StraighterLine. I’m sure of the exact details, but I guess some of the sources that were allowed for that class didn’t match up with the curriculum at Cleveland. They wouldn’t allow some of those sources for their class. And so, they wouldn’t allow that to transfer as credit. But it still worked out because I was able to find other classes instead.

One of my university's directors said that StraighterLine was one way to get one class out of the way without paying as much. I took one history class and the content was straightforward. I'd just read and then take the test. It was a really good course. All the chapters of the reading lessons were great. It wasn't extremely detailed but it wasn't very broad. I haven't taken US History in a while so I learned a lot and I felt like it was just enough. In fact, I wanted to find the chapters and read them again because I found them very useful. I liked that I could get it done at my own pace and that I could make my own deadline so I enjoyed that kind of flexibility, especially because I'm working. I could also make it as expensive or as least expensive as I would want to with the number of months I'd take to get it out of the way.

However, I feel like it's not for everyone. One needs to be really dedicated and have good time management 'cause it's easier to put off. And some people likes to have the people teaching them in front of them. Nevertheless, I wish I knew about StraighterLine a little bit earlier because I would have taken more of my basic classes that way because it's a less expensive and more flexible option. Also, if I took more classes, I probably would have taken advantage of all the options as far as meeting with online teachers.

In StraighterLine, some of the courses were more organized than other courses. The one English course that I took had a lot of assignments and a lot of the assignments were not as easy to find. Most of the courses are developed more like we have reading, videos, test, paper, rulebooks. The one class that I took, I was reading a novel and I was doing a paper on that novel. And then I was also learning how to use the writing manual. But the writing manual was an online writing manual. It was a little bit more difficult to find the information when I get ready to take the quiz. There was just a lot of prompts and a lot of avenues that I was taking instead of just the video and a textbook. There’s no textbook if I was were searching for information in order to be prepared so I wasn't that really knowing whether or not I was prepared.

But StraighterLine is definitely a good way to get the gen eds that I have to get at a much cheaper price, and at the same time too on my own time schedule. Like if I have a busy time schedule, and I need to take a week and I am going on vacation. Also, I don’t really need to have a whole lot of interaction with other students or the professor. For me, the key to being successful as a student with StraighterLine was knowing that I could go in at my own pace, and that I didn’t have to pay for a class if I didn’t have time to pursue it. I can stop and start the billing as I need to, so I didn’t feel like I was just wasting money when I didn’t have time. Overall, StraighterLine was very good and it was very helpful for me.

I was not eligible for financial aid. I did not have many classes left and I did not wanna be held up because I couldn't afford to finish the last few classes. My financial aid office told me about StraighterLine. It was very affordable and it was a quick way for me to get credits. My experience was good for the most part. It worked out for me. I was able to do half of the classes that I needed to take through them. The admissions team at Ashford University and StraighterLine helped me with the kind of classes I had to take. Then, I reached out to someone at StraighterLine when I could not upload the documents. I could take pictures and upload them but I could not with the other parts. They said that particular document may be outdated. They said they would look into it and try to update it later but I found a way to upload the pictures. Other than that, the experience was good.

However, the last class, Physiology and Anatomy, was just overwhelming and stressful for me. We had lots of challenges in my traditional studies but it was not like that. It was an overwhelming amount of information that I had to deal with solely on my own. Nevertheless, I learned that any general class I take with Ashford University, I have an option to take them with StraighterLine. So, that would help me graduate faster with my traditional school because right now, I'm working on my master’s.

I needed to take up an economics class online and with StraighterLine, I could do the course within my time. That particular class needed to have more study guides though. I went into the cumulative test after learning so many things and I didn’t know what specific topics were gonna be on the test. Indicating that all the topics in the book are gonna be on the test was not effective at all.

I also read online that some of the tests that StraighterLine has are open book. In fact, majority of the classes that they have online have open book tests. We just didn't and I don’t know why. Macroeconomics is a combination of the real world and math. So for people who are not good at math, it would probably be better if that class had an open-book test. A closed-book test doesn't make any sense because there are so many terms in history. It has all that plus math without any help. But aside from that one factor, the class was good.

There’s a nurse practitioner program that I’m trying to get into and they gave me a list of the prereqs that I needed to take. I needed two Anatomy classes and a Microbiology class and they said that StraighterLine offered them. I wish there were even more classes that were available for the program though. There were still three classes that StraighterLine didn’t offer and that I needed to take through a community college. That makes me think that StraighterLine would eventually have even more classes and I think they would be better for it.

Being able to do it at my own pace was extremely important to me. To be successful at StraighterLine, having a quiet space and enough time to spend on actually reading all the chapters that needed to be read so that I could get a better idea of everything was key. I also made a call during one of my first classes. The syllabus was telling me that for the final, I didn’t need to read half of the chapters that StraighterLine was telling me I needed to read. I wanted to pare that up and when I called somebody, they actually had to reach out to the textbook people and helped me figure out what I needed to figure out. They helped out quite a bit.

With Straighterline, I like the ability to take classes very quickly. I was able to do half a bachelor’s degree in two semesters, and I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I’m part of that list because of StraighterLine. I did 38 credit hours in one semester and most of those were through StraighterLine. One course I did in one day and one I did in three days. Most of them, I only took a week. I also almost had perfect score the entire time that I was taking courses. StraighterLine was incredibly easy for me. But it’s probably not for someone who feel like they need instruction. I could’ve just taken every exam and just not even read a single word and been fine and pass everything, with the exception of philosophy. That was actually hard. But I’ve recommended Straighterline to several different people.

I’m a student at Liberty University and I was having problems with the Math class. I was recommended to look into StraighterLine. I was told that they were one of the courses that the university recommends to students who do not have the time to sit in the classroom and take Math. The university also said that they had partnered with them. I looked them up and signed up for it. The convenience of StraighterLine was what appealed to me as a student because when I was taking Math at Liberty, it was too much. And we get to a certain age in our life where we go and say that we can’t do it anymore.

One of StraighterLine's counselors was meaningful to me on my journey there. She was very nice and encouraging. She constantly told me not to give up because I had to take the class three times. When I was calling about the proctored exam, I got that same counselor again. She told me that they've been reviewing me and they don’t know what I did the third time, but I should keep it up. I told her that I got my great nephew to tutor me. I would recommend StraighterLine to those who do not have the time. The outline of everything was informative and I needed that push from somebody sitting there just showing me what I did wrong.

I needed prerequisites and my academic counselor recommended StraighterLine. Most of everything worked well. It was straightforward and at my own pace, so it was nice. In the courses I took, however, I would select the right answers to several questions that I would ask within the quizzes or in the material itself, then the system would tell me I'm wrong, or it would be red and say it was correct, just like some glitchy stuff. It was fine, but on StraighterLine's end, it doesn’t look good so they could improve on that.

It's nice that you can do the program at your own pace, but the quicker you can get through the material, the better. Somebody asked me what my classes were like and in general, they were like reading a book where you start it and you wanna finish it. If you put a book down for a month, you need to go back a chapter or two. If you take a break for a week, sometimes you forget what you learned. So before you start, get a schedule together and schedule your study time. Also be less flexible with that schedule than you even anticipate. That way, you’d get through everything. Overall, my experience with StraighterLine was good.

Other people who are doing online studies introduced me to StraighterLine's site. StraighterLine has the subjects I needed so I went straight to them and it was easy navigating through and finding what I needed to know. They gave me all the resources I needed, so it was very helpful. The only thing is that if I needed to know something, it took a little time for me to get through on the phone, but online, I would know immediately that they would get in touch with me. Sometimes, the only time when I want to talk to someone, there is not anyone available to actually talk with me, but if I use their online chat and send them an email, I usually get through quicker.

It was nice how they helped me out with everything I needed, going through the program, signing up, getting my eBooks, and going through everything. However, I paused to get other things going and I have other stuff to do that I'm going back to them to do. To be successful as a student at StraighterLine, you have to concentrate. As a student, I would advise someone to go there every day and look up on their literature that they have and all the books that they can afford to let you have, and concentrate on what you want. You will definitely read a lot and you have to do what you have to do.

At one time, I canceled my subscription early enough for them to look online. They do everything online and I was trying to call, but it didn’t go through. I tried to cancel online just to hold on for a month and let me do stuff, but they did not put it through at that time. I had canceled on my credit card not to make it go through and I canceled it only because of StraighterLine, but it still went through, for some reason, on the new card and I tried to stop it. StraighterLine said I didn’t do it on time, although I did it a day before. They still took my money, but I still used them after that because I liked the way they had their program.

I like that with StraighterLine, I could get my degree faster. I could take up some extra courses and that would be cheaper - that I could possibly complete faster than having to do the whole 11 weeks with Strayer. Admissions was helpful because I called to get more information and see if I was reading everything correctly, and the rep went over it and told me it’s at my own terms. I can transfer my credits whenever I’m finished, or I could wait and take more classes and earn more credits that way, and do it all at once, or I can do them as I finish. He was very helpful.

For people who actually need more than 11 weeks, they can take their time on it to make sure they get the best grades that they possibly can get. That’s very helpful. I’ve been encouraging my fellow classmates to do StraighterLine because I know there’s another one out there but it’s a bit more expensive. Also, I believe that StraighterLine is the more cost-efficient route and it just helps all the way around.

A student at my school at Indiana Tech told me that StraighterLine allow transferred credits from our school and I could do it on my own free time. I decided to do the chemistry course through StraighterLine since that would be easier.

The freedom of being able to do the course on my own and being self-paced is what attracted me to StraighterLine. It's not super expensive either. I took my first class over winter break and I talked to Nicole from admissions about it. I said that I should take it during the break instead of trying to pile it on top of the classes I would already be taking during the semester. So far, I'm very satisfied with my experience. I took Intro to College Writing, English 102, and Intro to Psychology and any time there is something wrong with my papers, I would just call and they'll go and look over it. With StraighterLine, I get to do my classes on my own time and not having a set schedule of classes on campus. And it's not that expensive. It would have cost about $900 so it's helpful.

I was looking for how to get things done quickly and Thomas Edison State College was the first thing that I found. But I was also looking online to see how I can check out some things and I didn’t like Saylor's whole set-up was because if I take a test and I take the final, why do I have to take another one? I ran across StraighterLine and it seemed to make sense to me, so I went with it. The staff member was very helpful during the enrollment process. There were some technical difficulties that I had that was beyond my control and they allowed me to go back in and make it happen. At StraighterLine, the first thing you have to do is to read, and you can’t just breeze through everything. You have to read and take the quizzes. You can do some outside study, but the materials are so straightforward and basic that you can read and make it happen.

I’ve been raving about StraighterLine and I've referred a few friends to it. I told them that StraighterLine is a great alternative and I think it's worth its weight in gold. Instead of paying $3,000 or $4,000 per semester at your local college or university, you can use that money to do the whole thing and have your credits transferred. 120 credits, roughly, is about $2,500 at StraighterLine and most of them are at an average of $59 per class which you can take however many you like. Look at it per month, the membership fee per month. I was so dedicated and I did a couple of classes in one day, but you can take classes in a day or a couple of hours, depending on how diligent you are. You can do two days too and in three months you can have your bachelor’s degree.

I did filler courses and electives with StraighterLine and I went with them because of the pricing, convenience, and the "go at your own pace". Also, I was able to use StraighterLine in conjunction with Strayer to get my classes in. If anyone asks about StraighterLine, I would tell them to do it. Spend at least two hours doing homework for them and you'll be successful.

I was signing up for WGU to take the English course through StraighterLine first. With StraighterLine, I had the ability to go at my own pace which was the biggest thing for me because I have little ones. I had to work with the schedule though to make myself accountable to the end because there were no deadlines. It made me have that drive. I also did everything on my own, but whenever I ran into an issue, I messaged some people and everyone I've talked to was super helpful. I really enjoyed my experience with StraighterLine.

StraighterLine had the pace and pricing that I could go at. The materials were available online and their reps were responsive with the questions that I had. I was assisted by the folks at WGU to determine which classwork I needed to be done. I had six classes I needed to accomplish and I got five of them done with StraighterLine. They didn't have the sixth one, so I had to go somewhere else for that. As a StraighterLine student, you gotta have a lot of self-motivation and be able to work on time management. I'm a full-time employee and I've got a family of five so it was difficult. I had to find the right times and work and that was why their program worked for me. I could do it on my own schedule when I needed it. However, I didn't feel like I got enough information about the instructor assistance from them. Other than that, StraighterLine was very easy to work with and it was easy to find what you needed and what you didn't in terms of coursework.

I tried to find classes that were affordable and that I could take while working a full-time job and would fit into my schedule. With StraighterLine, I could start the classes whenever I wanted to and I could go at my own pace. It was easy. I could do it all myself and I could get it done immediately. I didn't have to wait for a semester to start or anything like that. However, I hope that they add more classes and work on getting more universities to accept the units as valid credits. I've had some schools accept the classes, but some don't. I feel like more and more are going to, but the further that that can happen would be great.

One time, I needed some credits. Then I found out about StraighterLine through my junior college. They said those credits would transfer to my new school and it is accepted at a lot more schools. In addition to that, StraighterLine is affordable. The staff at StraighterLine were helpful. When I call they’d just tell me whatever I needed to do. The classes are self-paced and I just answer questions. It’s all paperless.

Before I could start with my Masters at WGU, I had to get some courses and the people there suggested that I get those through StraighterLine. That option was reasonable and it was to be done at my own pace, so I found it appealing. I also really liked how organized StraighterLine was. The steps were very easy to follow and there weren't a whole lot of different links. It was all right there.

They also have an advisor or mentor assigned to each student. Even if it is just a class or two that the student takes, the advisor would be there to check on students to ask them why they have not done any work in two weeks and tell them to try to pick their pace up. I liked having that person keeping me accountable and making me get through quicker. As with any school, the biggest key to be successful is to not get distracted. With my going back to school and having a family life, I had to put my focus on the task at hand rather than on other things that were going on.

One thing, though, the Statistics course was insane for an undergraduate, but I get that they have to do that to weed out those people that really care from those that don't care. It was very strict and they would not even let us have the formulas. The biggest thing about it is you take so much time memorizing formulas, which is not really the point of Statistics but knowing how to apply them. Even if you have the formula, if you don't know how to apply it, then you're not gonna get it right.

There were options for tutors at StraighterLine but these weren't easily accessible and I didn't have the time to research, find, and read the material. They could make the tutoring option more accessible by having a link where students could listen to a conference call in Statistics and have someone there going over the first three modules. I was looking for maybe a better grade average to be able to showcase and it would have helped to have that, instead of hurrying us along. But other than that, everything was fine overall and I would definitely recommend StraighterLine.
