Whenever I was choosing an online school, Ashford was one of the ones that popped up first and I just read about it. I put my information in there then I had Jarred call back, and he got me in there within that phone call. So far, each one of the professors had been available, like if I’ve had any questions or if I’ve sent any emails, they always sent one back pretty quickly and answered my questions. They were pretty lenient as far as whenever we had the shelter-in-place and I couldn’t get to my work. They were understanding. The quality of the courses was pretty good too and I had to use my brain.

I had a good advisor. He really helped me through some things especially with relocating. The professors were pretty fair in grading. And the course material got a little tough, you just gotta do what you can and get the stuff finished. It just was a hassle with professors who took a little time to get back to you when you had a question, especially in accelerated class. They say they're available, but then it seems like it's hard to get ahold of them or get a response in a timely manner to meet obligations.

I think they should have discussion posts so there would be a little interaction where you have a live messenger, where you get to post your discussion and people can go back and forth. In the end if you put in the work, you'd get it done. If you ask for help, for the most part, teachers were willing to help. Everything was good with Ashford University.

I’m working full time ‘cause I’m in the military. Then I was taking one course from Ashford University every five weeks. I enrolled with Ashford because of the ease of the courses and also the five-week courses were very manageable with my work schedule. The enrollment was perfect. I had an adviser that would call me and make sure everything was good, especially with my first couple of months of going through Ashford. He would always call or send me an email to check on things until I got used to the course schedules and things like that.

The learning experience with Ashford was well. I learned a lot from being out of high school. I graduated in 1999, so completing through Ashford off and on within these last four years definitely was an eye-opener for new processes of things and how school and education are currently. So it was definitely very up-to-date and overall informative.

I was a little apprehensive about the online experience. But the availability of the teachers was really the turning point for the courses. That made everything a little better with my online experience. They were always very upfront with the courses and the expectations. If you ever had any issues, they were always there to help us through those things. The instructors were very helpful for the most part. They took the time out to provide guidance in any of the worksheets and things like that.

The difference between graduating from 1999 to today, just the process of using technology in the manner that they do because when I graduated, it was not as easy to access as it is now. My degree is in education studies. I enjoyed the diversity course that we did. It was something about the diverse learners and how to better educate those with, not only learning disabilities but also with language barriers and certain things like that. The curriculum now teaches at the level of the student, instead of making the student reach a certain level. That’s an important change from when I went through school. It takes into account how the student learns and makes sure that the teacher can have that diversity in the curriculum for each student, and that you get a more personable education.

My mom graduated through Ashford University and she recommended it. I like the fact that it was all online. Their enrollment process was easy, and my learning experience was adequate. Most of the professors were good. I had a few of them that would use cut-and-paste answers for everybody, but most of them were involved. If you were looking for a school that you were able to attend all online and didn't completely take all your time away from family and work, then Ashford would be the way to go.

The experience was great at Ashford but they could improve the consistency of the APA standard across the board. When they changed in the middle of my degree program, some of the teachers were using the previous version and some wanted the new version. There was a lot of confusion and I had to ask a lot of questions on what they wanted because it wasn’t clear across the board.

I looked at what a lot of other people were saying about the courses offered and what Ashford did offer. I went to an actual physical university before in Virginia and they didn't offer social sciences. Ashford did, and it made it a lot easier whenever I moved to the States. I was able to transfer everything to Ashford, and Ashford had what I wanted to major, and also the courses were reviewed very well.

I love my experience. It was great. I learned a lot. I thought that it was really awesome as well that Ashford has all these alumni benefits. I loved Ashford. I had a lot of great professors. I can't name one that stuck out more than the other because I had a lot that I could reach out to if I had any questions and they were very understanding and great if I needed further explanation of something. The only thing I ever had an issue with was the turn it in stuff. It would break. You could submit something, but you could never review what you submitted to see what it was scored as.

I had finished my associate’s degree and I was looking for a four-year university, and someone that was in my unit said that I should look into Ashford University, that they are good university, and that the materials come along with class. So, I did my research and I did not look back after that. The school covered my science lab and they mailed it to me. So, that was a good thing knowing that I did not have to pay out-of-pocket for my science lab and books. The learning experience was great, too. One thing that I admired about my instructors was that they would respond in a timely manner. Not only that, they did not make you feel like they were just giving you the work and making you do it. They would engage in the discussion boards and ask questions to make you think outside of the box.

The schedule was very flexible. I was supposed to graduate at the end of March, and I talked to my academic adviser, and he was able to arrange some things to where I graduated February 10th. The only thing I had was that you could not miss more than five weeks of school. If so, you get dropped from the university. There was a time where I had a lost a family member, and I tried to take two months off, but I wasn’t able to due to the policy. Still, overall, I definitely encourage any person who is looking for a school to go through Ashford University. My fiancée is going for her associate’s and I told her, “Once you finish, Ashford is the way to go.”

My professors at Ashford challenged me. However, there were some which didn't get back to me on certain things. So, I had to figure those things out for myself. Also, I was going through my father's death at the time and I wanted to take at least a month off. Ashford's people advised that I don't do that because it was like dropping a class. Still, the rest of the professors made things a friendly atmosphere. So far, I've recommended two miltary-affiliated people to Ashford. The only drawback there is the price. Even though they give military discounts, it's still pricey compared to other universities.

The first advisor who helped me get set up with Ashford University was the biggest help. She was from enrollment or admission and her help was what got me into Ashford. During enrollment, everything went smoothly and I was able to find everything electronically. Being with Ashford had its ups and downs. It was very convenient for me 'cause I work a full-time job and I also had a daughter in school. On the other hand, there was no personal communication from the instructors unless I needed help. There weren't any video calls either.

With the pandemic going on, a lot of students have to be in virtual classrooms. If that was included in Ashford's online school, that would have made my experience a lot better. Having that would make the experience more personal. If a student is not able to go to a campus and classes, Ashford is definitely recommended. Still, I would have wanted to actually be in a classroom.

I’ve taken away a lot of knowledge from the courses that I’ve taken.

When my husband passed in February, the academic adviser was awesome in giving me the leave and checking on me when I was out for the time that I was and asking if it was enough. They were also awesome in giving me the ability to come back. They were available and offered me all the resources needed as well as counseling.

Ashford's tuition is fairly high compared to other online universities. When I was trying to get a private loan, a lot of banks and credit unions had not heard of Ashford or they did not have a partnership with them per se. Luckily, I have rich parents and they were able to give me the money for the last two years, and that was how I was able to pay for Ashford. Unfortunately, if you’re somebody like me who ran out financial aid and doesn’t have that option, you really have no other options than to stop going altogether. I just wish they had options for scholarship with Ashford and the way in which you go about getting private loans. But that would be the biggest change they need to make. But other than that, everything went fairly well.

The quality was great. A lot of the professors who were in the core classes for graduation were very reputable. You could tell that they had extensive background knowledge on what they were teaching. I had one professor who was not as forgiving as other professors. But of course, that’s based on preference. But at the end of the day, I graduated with a degree of Social and Criminal Justice, those core courses were definitely people who knew the field and were able to give some great insights into the field.

I got all my transcripts and diploma. Everything is done. It was a good experience. The response from professors sometimes were not great and some of them were a little bit faster on the email. Sometimes, it was kind of delayed. I understand they were busy. But sometimes, when you need an advice or prompts, it's good to have it in a timely manner. This was my first experience online and I liked it. It's good when you have people face-to-face sometimes and you can read the expressions and you can understand better some other stuff. There were some moments and some ideas that were more challenging but I liked it.

I went to a special education and I am a preschool teacher. But I would have liked that someone from Ashford advised me about some other options that comes with the degree because now that I'm done with a degree, I don’t know what to do. I didn't know there was other options that you can choose within that, like a family advisor or counseling. I realized it by the end of the courses when other classmates introduced themselves and what they were and what their degree was for. Now, I feel I have to have another degree to go where I want to be.

They also generally return everything on time. Some of the courses I've taken are easier than others, but they have all been good. But a walkthrough for the library would have really helped me out in the beginning. It wasn't until later in my courses that I took a research class and the initial assignments were books. I said that I was gonna figure out how to actually use a library. It became a lot easier to use after that. Other than that, it is set up pretty well and as long as you’re on time, you'd do quite well.

One of my friends who went to Ashford told me about the school. I did some research and I liked what I found. The reviews were good. The enrollment process was very easy, even though I was kinda skeptical and nervous about doing online. The person I got was exceptionally wonderful and steered me to the right direction so I had no qualms afterward.

The subjects were extremely hard but I made all As. To me, that's just a blessing and it was because of everyone like the instructors. They were well-equipped and they just take you to a higher level. They were very knowledgeable in their respective fields. They responded equally and were really on time when I had questions. Their feedback was wonderful. The overall package was there.

If anyone is hesitating like I was because I was out of school for 25 years, I would recommend them not to. They should take the leap of faith because look where it got me. I started out so unsure but I had help from advisors who were awesome. With the teachers, instructors, and student teachers, I was just elevated. I came away well-learned and ready to face the future. To anyone who has hesitated for years, step forward, and find out that you can swim.

I was a University of the Rockies transfer student. Ashford was the parent company that bought up the University of the Rockies so my program got shifted over to them. At that point, it was very late in my academic career. My advisers were chosen under the University of the Rockies. I don’t know exactly when the official transfer went over but it was when I was doing maybe my thesis writing. The dissertation was pretty much all done under Ashford University officially but I didn't really notice any change because I had already set up my committee at that time.

As far as the classes went, I felt that it was quick-paced but good. You kinda know where everything stood. What made a greater challenge was kind of once the structure of the classes ended, going into the dissertation courses was a little less structured. It created a little bit more of a frustration because it was just trying to determine who I should talk to and where do I go for this.

I have an adviser and getting that established was also a challenge only because of the transfer. But I was happy with my adviser. He kept a lot of contact which was wonderful. But it was just who do I contact with a question for something. There was some confusion about that and the general process. I wish that was a little bit more structured like the class was.

Otherwise, all my experiences with the professors were very good and they were always willing to help. As I got into the later stages, they were pretty quick on returning everything. In the early stages in Rockies, I had one where I had a lack of response from one. But that was clarified through the adviser. They’ve got information on that. That was the only one that was a little annoying. But the rest went pretty well.

The pressure’s always been to help the structures of the school. There should be just a little more clarification on what's due and when just to speed that process along. I got kind of hung up on a couple of university policy things. That was part of the transition as well. Every time I would call up, they couldn't find me and I would have to tell them that I was a Rockies student and I was under some other system.

The whole reason why I really chose the program was that it was the official PhD in Education which is actually more difficult to find than I realized. A lot of them are the EdDs. I like the research end like conducting the actual research and producing the paper that was original. And it being a PhD program allowed me to focus more on the research of my own than go through and kind of copy something else or read other researchers. Not that I didn't do that, but having that freedom to be able to choose my own project, conduct my own research, and publish work was what I was really looking for. Ashford/University of the Rockies was one of the few PhD programs in education that I could find online.

Everything was structured well. the course layout with the dashboard I’ve used through other programs in the military before was laid out very similarly. The instructors were adequate. But there were a couple of times when I felt that their involvement might not have been very great. Everything was graded and posted, however, at times assignments would be graded a week late and the grade posted late. But for tuition assistance purposes, Ashford University was good. It was minimal to no out-of-pocket cost to me. Now, as I’ve kind of matured academically, I have started to look at Master’s programs and I can see that there is not going to be any type of graduate degrees to them. It’s not gonna be financially feasible for me.

In our company, Ashford is one of the schools that normally go here for education fair. I went with them because of the course. They offered a master’s setting we did, and I wanted something that was international. The enrollment, however, was horrible. I wanted to cancel the process because the first enrollment advisor with it did not give me the complete information that I needed because I graduated from a foreign school. And so, like at the very onset, I already knew I had different requirements. And I asked what I needed. On the same day that I was supposed to start my classes, he said, “You can't go into your class because you're missing this documentation.” But, he did not tell me that. I had to make arrangements. I graduated 30 years ago from college, and they were wanting all the certifications about language. If they have told me that two weeks ago, I would have met it.

So, I backed out already, but I had an officemate who said, “Let me get you another advisor who can work with you to make this work better.” And I worked with that advisor and I had to get those documentations that they requested. So, it was like me asking someone else from a different country, like, “Can you go to this school, make sure that they give you this certain certification. Send me an email of it and mail it to me and so on and so forth.” It was a very tedious process. That advisor was good, and I recommended him to another one.

With the scheduling of the assignments on a masteral program, at first, it was like, “Why can I not have two courses? This is too easy.” But with so many paperwork and having two or three assignments in a week, it has been gruesome. At one time, on one week, you had to read 200 pages. For a full-time working person like me, it had been hard to balance that one. And if I didn’t follow through my schedules and my desire to finish it, I would have not finished it because my goal was that I wanted to finish it in 17 months. But we had winter breaks and one time there was no professor, so it got extended to 19 months. Still, I have learned a lot.

What I liked amongst every course that I had to take was the MBA Capstone because it was a good stimulation of how real business works, and it was crazy. It was challenging too. The only thing about that was because I was using hotspot, I got interrupted with my connection with one transaction that I was doing, so I lost that transaction and lost 75 grand on that one. That would have been the income of the company that I was working for.

So, it mattered a lot because that Capstone had specific goals, by which you have a committed profit for the company. So, I had a goal, and not meeting that meant that, as a manager, you were not meeting your commitments to your company. I still met my goal, but it was short because of that transaction that I had to haggle with because of connections disappearing. So, it was like a back and forth help desk thing and that they had to reset my connections so that I could gain because that involved a roleplay and if you missed that roleplay, then you were not going to be able to go through the roleplay again, and that roleplay meant inputs needed for your company to survive a certain transaction.

I went off the recommendation and the benefits for the military -- because of my husband being in the military, I got a great tuition discount. Everything was easy. My enrollment specialist at the time was amazing. From the start of the program, I never had any issues with it. Everybody, including the professors, was always very accommodating. The only time I had any issues was with the very first class that I took. Nevertheless, it was great for me who worked a full-time job. I was finishing my degree as a formality, so it would have been hard to be a traditional student. It was an accelerated class and Ashford offered flexibility with regard to doing one class at a time. I got through everything fast, and the content was always relevant. I have already graduated.

I was in active duty a couple of years ago and a lot of my friends were going to Ashford. So, that’s where I chose to go, too. And when I got out of the military, I continued to go to the school. Primarily, I went with Ashford because the compressed five-week schedule seemed good for me. Since I was in full-time active duty, I wasn’t one of the guys who had the availability to go sit in the classroom. So, being able to study independently and study at home after my kids went to bed made life easy for me.

When you study at Ashford, you get what you put in. I read my textbooks, I did the discussion posts, and I prepared the assignments. Everything was very pertinent to what I was learning, so I saw it as a very positive experience. And from my understanding, the professors were prior students. So, they were very relatable in the discussion posts and in giving feedback on assignments. They were also very down-to-earth and my conversations with them were like very typical conversations I would have with somebody who was teaching me something. All in all, I love going to Ashford and I'll probably be going back there for a second degree.

I enrolled at Ashford a few times because I took a few classes and then took a break and took a few more. They gave me a lot of credits for my military service and training. The advisers were knowledgeable. And because it's all online, there was a lot of writing because you had to write the discussions. The professors seemed to really know what they were talking about and most of them seemed pretty passionate about their teaching too, so that was nice. Some people complained that the instructors were not flexible with turning in stuff late when things happened, but I never experienced that. I always had an easy time communicating with the professors if I had any problem.

I was looking to complete my degree and I work full time. I’m married and I have a child, so I was looking for an online educational experience. I started web surfing and looking at the different programs that were available for working individuals for completing their degrees. I looked at several and the program with Ashford really fit my needs the best.

They also made my enrollment very easy. On the first initial voice contact that I had over the phone, I talked to their rep about getting information on the degree program and how it worked. Then, I told her that I would think about it. She gave me a couple days and she called me back. She was very patient and very knowledgeable. She answered all my questions right away, too. It wasn’t like she had to check on them and she had all the answers that I needed. She walked me through how to submit for student loans and grants, and she sent me all that information through email. Anything I’d ask for, she would send me links to it and how to set it up. She was really good.

So far, I’ve already graduated and gotten my diploma. The first two years were spent going through all the general education courses and were very simple. I took a lot of English and Math courses, and it felt a little bit like being back in high school again. So that was easy for me. Then once I got through the general education courses, I started into my degree courses where I did a supply chain management degree. I work in manufacturing and when I started, I was a purchasing buyer. Then I changed positions halfway through getting my degree and it was really interesting for me. I really enjoyed it when I would recognize things that I was learning and I could apply them at work. So, it was an excellent experience.

But on the last week of every course, there was a final paper where you would apply what you learned in the five-week course. So, I wasn’t prepared for the writing and I don’t consider myself a very good writer. I really struggled with that in the beginning as well as with having to meet the requirements on how many words and pages you should have. But by the end of my four years, I was much better at it and I didn’t struggle as much. So, maybe if they could prepare the students in advance on what those final papers would look like, it might help. Other than that, the way that Ashford is set up with the five-week courses and how you do it is perfect for somebody who’s working.

The enrolment with Ashford was very easy and very quick. The staff was all very good and very professional. Everybody knew what they were doing. Also, the instructors responded on time, in a good time especially for an online school. I did a degree in History and attending Ashford was convenient. The classes were very fast and made it very easy for me being on a military schedule. Between deployments and everything, I was able to get the schooling done and continue going to work without many issues.

I had to take leave occasionally to get the work done, but that’s expected. I was still able to complete everything while I was deployed. We still had computer access and everything. Any time I felt like I was going to have any kind of issues, I would let my instructors know, or sometimes I have to let them know on the backend if we would do the next of kin notifications. They would lock down communications of the base so we have no outgoing messages and without notice, I couldn’t let my instructors know. But I would still be able to say, “Hey, I know I missed that assignment yesterday. It’s because we had no internet connection.” And they worked with me and prevented any lost points.

Ashford University accepted my military benefits and had five-week courses. Moreover, it was all online. I finished my bachelor’s on February 3rd and I really liked that it was all self-paced. I don’t like being told what to do and I like the structure. I like being given a task and told to do my own research, come up with my own conclusion, and online learning. I love Ashford University. It's fantastic. I've never failed a class online. But when I went to an actual school when I was around 19, I failed three classes just because I didn't like being in a classroom setting.

I've had some professors that were freaking phenomenal, specifically in my financial planning classes. I was able to email and communicate with some teachers often and asked them, not necessarily about what we were doing in class, but about their profession and financial advising, which was really cool. I've also had some teachers who you can tell were just passing people who do it. They need to be a little bit more stringent. I know that there is a rubric that they grade off of and I am almost positive that they only grade off of that rubric. Grammatical errors should be taken into effect.

I am currently in my MBA program at Ashford. And one of the discussion posts that I was reading last night really bothered me. It was something extremely small, but I don’t like grammatical errors, especially when they're being typed out. Especially if you're in a master’s program, grammatical errors should have dissipated a long time ago. There also some terrible differences in spelling. I had seen that a lot in my bachelor’s classes and sometimes, I was thought, "Am I actually getting a legitimate education?” It seemed like anybody that went through Ashford University was gonna pass whether they could communicate properly or speak effectively. I also did it purposely in a post to see if I would get away with it, and I did.

I almost went through a different school for my master’s program. The only reason that I did not was because it was too difficult to switch everything over to another school and I wanted to start my master’s program immediately. So, I took a month break and I got back in. I don’t think the degree is any less than any other degree, but I think that people go to Ashford University for handouts. There are a lot of handouts there. I know for a fact that I have written papers that should have been Cs but got As on because I was very lazy with it. I did the bare minimum and I got As on it because I met the rubric. I've told people that Ashford University has a great program. But I know that those people are gonna work their butts off and do what they need to do. They're there to learn, not just to say, “I got a college degree.”

I filled out something on some website that I was interested in going back to college and I ended up getting calls from five different universities. Ashford was the first one to call me. I enrolled with them and that was was easy. I had a lot of transfer credits and they were really easy to get in contact with concerning all the classes that I needed to get transferred. At first, some didn't apply towards my credit but I challenged it and they ended up taking more than they first approved. That was a really easy process and they were super easy to communicate with. It was really good.

I got my Communications degree with Ashford. We had five week-long classes where instead of semesters, we were taking five classes at a time over three or four months. It was one class at a time every five weeks with just crammed information. I really liked that because I only had to focus on one class and there was no excuse to let anything fall behind. My favorite thing about it was I went from doing semester-long classes and taking three or four at a time and I would just give myself the excuse like I needed to focus more on this class and not on that class. But when I just had one at a time in five weeks, it took out any excuse. My only critique would be Ashford is expensive. But that is the price you have to pay to have a schedule like that. Everything else was perfect.

I googled Ashford to find some schools online to see if it would fit me being able to work and also still be able to do school online. What led me to go with them were the initial people that I spoke with. Any time that I called, I got all my questions answered, and they went over and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was comfortable. They also helped me along the way with what I needed to get done. From the ambience in the office, everybody there were willing to do whatever it was needed to help me achieve my goal of getting my degree.

The professors were all great too, and I loved that they had an open door policy. You could email them at any time if there were any questions or concerns about what you had going on while you were taking that class. Overall, I had a great experience both times with the two degrees that I obtained from them. The quality of education I received was the best for me. I would recommend Ashford before any other school to anybody if it were the case that they would choose an online school.

When it came time for me to start college, I looked at a bunch of different online colleges. I went on a bunch of different websites that went over different details. I wanted to find a college that was fully online and that was one class at a time schedule. I came across Ashford pretty early on and I compared it with a bunch of other ones. Ashford had the best prices and it had everything I cared about, so it was my first choice. The enrollment was pretty easy. A lot of the processes were really good and everything was pretty straightforward. Also, the advisors were available when I needed help and every one I've ever had has been very helpful.

I had read a couple of online reviews complaining about Ashford and I tried to see if there's anything that I'm missing, but I've never had any learning experience at Ashford that I have not liked. The way that I learn is by participating in the discussions and by reading the textbook on my own. Overall, I had a very positive experience with all the learnings.

Also, it's useful to understand just how important it is to have a reliable computer and internet connection because there were a lot of people early on who seemed like they had a computer just at a library that they could visit once a week and they didn’t understand. You have to be tech-literate enough to understand how to create word documents, check emails, and log on and stuff like that. I know there were a couple of people early on who were so tech-illiterate that they wrote everything in caps lock. Some people ended up not understanding how to take advantage of such a tech-based class or tech-based system. I would recommend brushing up on computer literacy and there's a computer literacy course pretty early on in the prerequisite that will be taken.

I wouldn’t recommend Ashford to some people who are trying to go for a nursing degree or something like that because it would probably differ from a traditional campus. But based on my actual experience, I would always recommend it to somebody who wants to learn more about something that they don’t need to practice with a traditional campus.

I was watching TV and an ad came up. I was getting ready to change over to a part-time job and I told my husband that maybe I should try going to school online. He said that might be something I could do with a part-time job. So, I started researching and I liked Ashford. The enrollment was easy. I called them and started talking to individuals because I didn't know where to go or if my GPA in high school mattered. I didn't have that great of a GPA in high school so I was worried about that affecting it and they assured me that it did not. Before I knew it, I was enrolled in Ashford. I had really great professors and instructors. There was only one that I felt like wasn't that great of an instructor and I mentioned it to my student adviser at the time. I made a C in that class and I couldn't figure out why because I was putting in a lot of effort. My effort has never waned or faltered during the entire time.

I took it on the chin and I told my student adviser that I didn't even care. I'm out of that class and it didn't affect my GPA. I'm ready to move on. I just think that he's not that great of an instructor. During that time, there was an email that went out between some of students and they were saying that they tried so hard and did everything he told them. They put their references down and they didn’t know what else they could do. I didn't either because I was in the same boat they were. We were trying and we were not getting anywhere. The student adviser said I was not the first one that said anything about that specific professor or instructor. But the rest of the professors were great. One out of four years was not that bad at all.

The learning experience was beneficial and it has helped me a lot now where I work as well as outside of work. It made me more responsible because you don't have a teacher or anybody standing over your shoulder. You have to get the work done on your own and it helped me grow as a person. I started in 2016 in January and I was done January of 2020. I lost my dad last year on August 12th and it was hard coming back because him and I, were my big support system. So when he was gone, it took a little bit to get back into the groove. My instructor was great about it. I lost my father on Thursday and on Monday, I turned in my final assignment. My instructor was surprised I didn't take two weeks off. She was gonna suggest putting in a leave of absence. I was trying to get everything rounded up for his funeral and trying to get my feet back underneath me was a big part of it.

If there were more schools and colleges that worked as well as Ashford did with me, there would be a lot more people that would attend school. People need to know there is a school like Ashford out there that will hold you accountable. It's not bad. When my computer broke, I sent one of my instructors a message and I said I was trying and she told me to do the work when I could. I found that as long as I was respectful towards them and I tried to be as respectful as possible, they would always reciprocate it back to me. They understood where I was coming from and I was doing the best I could. They got me and it was no big deal. That was great for me because I had switched jobs and even then, the instructors congratulated me on the new job. They told me to let them know if I needed anything. They would do what they could to help me.

It was a very good experience and I would recommend Ashford to others. When I left high school, I had a 2.8 GP and when I graduated Ashford, I graduated with a 3.6. I owe a lot of that to the instructors because they were always there when I needed something and if it wasn't the instructors, it was my academic adviser or I always had somebody that I could reach out to and talk to.

It was upsetting to me because I was not anticipating the full amount and I had to pay for it all on my own. I had to take out loans so now, I’m close to $60,000 in debt. So, I have attended Ashford since 2016, and I am 12 credits shy of graduating. And Ashford was wonderful, as long as everything was going well. Spoiler alert: Life happens. Part way through I contacted them because my sister was about to undergo brain surgery and my aunt had just been diagnosed with cancer. They gave me an LOA and said, "Come back when you're ready." That went okay. Then half a year later I was close to failing a class. Keep in mind that up until this point I had been on the Dean's list every time without fail. I get really good grades. When I communicated with the school that I was being verbally attacked by my boss, my best friend, and my family and that it was feeding into my depression making me suicidal, they recommended I drop the course and file for a second LOA. I did. But I am not rich and filed for a credit reimbursement at their recommendation. Which they refused.

They said it was too long between when I dropped the course and when I was able to get help, even though I was in contact with them and their student advocate and my advisor the entire time explaining that I had to wait for insurance and for time to open up with an authorized councilor. So now I am having to deal with the added financial burden because if them, but this story gets better. My first class back I got a professor who was so disinterested that she could not even be bothered to edit her tests or respond to her students. When I tried to contact the University for help I was told to try emailing her again, because that worked so well. Naturally I failed that class abysmally, which really fed into the depression that I was trying to get over. The next class was failed because it took everything in me to open my laptop because I was in such a bad mental place.

I finally got into a course that I was loving, but still struggling through with my depression, when my laptop crashed and destroyed my final essay. I begged my professor to let me turn it in late and the answer was that she had already recorded my grade and that it was just too bad. This meant three failed courses in a row. So, I could understand an academic probation or a suspension. But no. It was an automatic dismissal meaning that not only can I not graduate from Ashford I can't go to any other college either. I am 12 credits from graduating with three years on the Dean's list and I cannot graduate because of my depression? Seriously. I can appeal the decision, but it will take eight weeks, and after two weeks of being unenrolled I lose all of my financial aid. Ashford is great if you are a mentally sound and stable individual who does not have to deal with extenuating circumstances. But if life happens to you, I'd advise going to a different school.

I attended Ashford to get my associates degree in early childhood education. I was a single mother of 3, trying to better myself, not only for myself but for my children as well. Don’t fall for anything they tell you, I have my associates degree, but can’t do anything with it in New York unless I further my education. Now, there’s NO way I can do that because for the 2 years that I took online classes, it cost me $35,000, as a single mother of 3. Now I am having my tax refund taken away because I can’t afford to pay $500 a month for my student loan payment. Stay away from these rip-offs.

Hello, Rebecca. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. An online degree from Ashford University does not lead to immediate teacher licensure in any state. We recommend that students' contact their state's education authorities prior to enrolling at Ashford to determine what state-specific requirements they must complete before obtaining their teacher's license. Ashford graduates will be subject to additional requirements on a state-by-state basis that will include one or more of the following: student teaching or practicum experience, additional coursework, additional testing, or, if the state requires a specific type of degree to seek alternative certification, earning an additional degree. None of Ashford's online education programs are CAEP*, TEAC or NCATE accredited, which is a requirement for certification in some states. That said, we certainly want every student to have a positive experience. We would recommend that you get in touch with our Student Resolution Center by giving them a call at 866.974.5700, ext. 20091 or submitting your concern by visiting: http://bit.ly/2n8V1OC. I got my bachelor's degree in supply chain management at Ashford University. It was a pretty good program. It's been all-encompassing. I was originally looking for an online university that could work with my schedule because I worked 60 hours a week and the way that the structure of the classes were set up at Ashford, having one class every five weeks, worked a lot better with my schedule. However, I couldn't get some of the textbooks on my phone. It was depending on what service they used and there were three or four different ones. That made studying a little bit harder. I also had to be very self-motivating to make sure that I get all the stuff done without somebody looking over your shoulder. But still, it was a pretty good experience. The professors were very good too.

My employer offers reimbursement on certain degrees through different universities and Ashford University was one of the university choices. They also offered the program and the start time that I wanted. Some of the professors there were better than others. Some of them kept up-to-date and provided current questions and current literature. Others were asking us the questions about when the Affordable Care Act would come into effect next year, which clearly was 10 years old, and they hadn't modified their questions in that time frame.

You could tell that some of the professors were there and had plugged in something at one point and just kept it year after year and others had spent some time coming up with current relevant information. But overall, they were good. I got a master’s in healthcare administration. It was a pretty good program and I was satisfied with it. It went smoothly and Ashford University did everything they said they would do. It was a pretty good experience. I’ve recommended it to other people and they’re all in the program right now.

My military spouse sister told me she was going back to school, which was five-week courses, and she was doing pretty well at it. So, I figured I’d give it a shot. Enrolling was amazing. I still remember the person that helped me. His name was Tyler. He was very responsive, quick with the emails, answered all my questions. The only downside that I had was it was not until I was about three-quarters of the way into my degree that I was informed I needed to take an extra class to conform to the upper division rule. But other than that, everything was great.

Fast-paced, thorough, and very inclusive. A lot of the times, I felt that the more I participated in class, the more I took from it and better positive feedback I received from the instructors. I ended up taking 13 classes at Ashford University but I only had 1 where I didn’t quite see eye-to-eye with the professor. So, that learning experience wasn’t all that great. But everybody else was very knowledgeable in their field, very communicative, and all around just helpful because they understood that it is a fast-paced, accelerated course, and they wanted to make sure we succeeded.

I had a coworker that was attending Ashford. Once he told me about it, I enrolled and got going. The military adviser who initially got me enrolled was really good and made things easy, but my student advisers after that were hard to get ahold of or unresponsive in general. It was twice that I requested a new student adviser because I had so many issues with them and for the most part, Ashford changed it over pretty quickly.

Though their pricing was flexible, it was not competitive especially when you're talking graduate degrees. I could go to a Division 1 university for cheaper than go to Ashford. I also like the old classroom better. The new classroom sucked. There would be a bunch of times where I'd be three quarters away through a discussion, accidentally hit the back button and it loses everything, whereas in the old system, it would retain my discussion post. So then, I'd end up starting over. But it's easy to navigate. The schedule's good and the material and the content were fitting.

I enrolled with Ashford University over my lunch break and it was really easy. I didn't have to have any letters of recommendation. And when I called to ask my questions, the gentleman talked me through it and we were done in about half an hour. They were the only non-Christian online college that offered the program I was looking for. The learning experience varies from class to class, but it was very in-depth and involved. I learned quite a bit that I've been able to apply to everyday life and more that I'll be able to apply in my career. But some professors were more personable and actionable than others. There were quite a few who weren't very big on feedback or responding to students' questions or concerns and there were others who were amazing to work with.

I had a professor for a literature class who repeatedly had spelling and grammar errors in her feedback. And if you asked her for clarification about anything she posted within the classroom and in personal emails, you'd get no response. She would also criticize other students within the classroom and not privately, which was inappropriate. If it was something that they did wrong, that should've been handled privately and not within the public discussion forum for all the rest of us to see. I had two or three professors like her. And when I complained to my adviser, nothing was done. Also, at the end of every class, we have to take an anonymous survey and there's an entire section asking about the professors. But not enough attention is paid to our responses.

However, the rest of the professors was absolutely amazing. They had live office hours were you could log on to a live chat with them. They gave their personal contact information for outside of office hours if you needed them in the evening because they know that we aren't all online during the day. Most of us were working full-time jobs and were online at about 9 o'clock at night doing homework. Some of us were pushing it right up until the 11:59 mark when you had until midnight to turn it in. Most of the professors were really understanding. And if you needed an extension, they would work with you as long as you gave them notice. For the most part, I would recommend Ashford University.

They were very well-knowledged in the area that they are teaching and were able to provide good feedback and critique based on our discussion, assignments, and our papers. The only thing that I couldn’t have any control with was once I enrolled into my last class recently, my degree would not be mailed out until Tuition Assistance paid off the remainder of the balance. That was just more of a nuisance thing because I didn’t need it because I got approved with my unofficial transcript. But other than that, everything went better than I expected.

Out of the four times I had to enroll and re-enroll, the process is simple. The learning experience was typical of online college depending on the gap between when the last time I took the class and relearning it. And it wasn’t that bad. Like any other school, the professors change. Some professors were easy to deal with and some of them were difficult, which is reflected in the feedback within the course.

Enrolling at Ashford moved really quickly. I took up a bunch of courses. It was for my MBA. The staff was horrible though. They were completely useless. You’re given the material, and there was no instruction given for the majority of stuff. So, it was very much self-paced and I felt like the teacher was fixed, just a checked box on a grade, and that’s it. I liked that it was online. If I had to have paid for it, I would have never paid my own money to go there. There should be more integration with teamwork and team building. Understanding that it’s fully online, but with the emergence of technology and video and stuff like that, it’s something that could definitely be utilized. And I don’t understand how much the teachers get paid, but they’re overpaid. They just copy and paste the same thing in every class over and over again.

I asked them multiple times on certain formatting things. Some teachers would take points, and some teachers wouldn’t, and I would say, “Can I please get an explanation on what the points were taken for?” They would say I couldn't and that I should follow the formatting, and they would never give me specifics. I carried an A throughout the entire program, but anytime I would ask any type of a question regarding grading, they were extremely combative. One told me to read the course textbook when there was no course textbook. I said, “There’s no course textbook here.” He said, “Okay, well, just keep reading the course textbook.” It was very frustrating to deal with.

I went through a traditional four-year college for my undergrad, and I did this because it was free. But unless it’s free, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do these programs. Ashford has good content though. There were a lot of the books that I felt were good academic quality, but it’s very much what you make out of it. It’s just not very engaging and not like a traditional college experience. It’s very much self-paced, read the book, type up some papers, and turn them in.

It went with my schedule accordingly because I work full-time as well as go to school full-time. So, learning online is very convenient and it’s very effective as well because of the learning program that Ashford is giving out. The engagement between professor and students are very on point also.

Overall, my experience at Ashford is very positive, and I like the graduation ceremony. Even though I do it online, when I went to the graduation ceremony, I felt I was part of the school. There was a feeling of going to school on campus and then meeting people that I haven't met, but then with all the people around and all the students who came that day, I felt like I was in class with them. Ashford was pretty good for the most part. I liked how quick the classes were. I didn’t have to worry about the GI Bill process. They took care of everything. However, it’s like nothing really tested my knowledge with my classes. They want us to read the book, to teach ourselves, and every week we just write a paper for about 4 to 5 pages and then anywhere from a 10 to a 20-page at the end. That was a little bit too much. I could have written my paper on anything, and technically, I wouldn’t even have to open up the textbook to write it. I could have completed my whole degree and not know one thing because of that. Sometimes it was beneficial. I liked knowing when the paper’s due so I was able to work my schedule. But then there should have been some kind of test.

Ashford should do a little bit better at making sure the students are actually obtaining knowledge and not just going on the internet, finding sources and stuff to write a paper off. I felt like that in my bachelor’s degree too. They put out this basic syllabus, “do this.” Then, for instance, I didn’t really understand the assignment in one of my classes. All they did was just copy the syllabus and sent it to me. That’s not teaching me anything. I could have read that. They need to be a teacher and teach.

When in an online class, they should offer something other than what they just copy and paste every week, for every class. The teachers should be more involved with actually teaching something, like actually doing videos or going over the material. I’ve been to another online school before and the teacher taught the whole time. We just took tests. I'm paying over $2000 a course for six weeks and I expect to be taught. There has to be some level of teaching the student as well, not just putting up the information, and then, “You're doing great.” If they do a voiceover or a PowerPoint, they can keep that going. But it should be a little bit more than whatever they write for that week in a syllabus. I knew teachers were doing it because one of the classes I did got 2017 on it. This is 2019 and they should at least change the date. If nothing else, pretend that they're catering that class. That’s my only gripe.

But I liked the ease of use of Ashford because I knew what I was getting. I didn’t have to go through much. I decided I wanted to do school, they set me up, and I started the next week. It was no drama. I knew my schedule and it was guaranteed. Every once in awhile, there was a class that was just a little bit different, but I was able to plan my daughter’s activities around my school schedule. I was also able to plan my job around it. It was definitely worth it for that part.

My brother and my sister are both Ashford graduates. And since I'm in the military, feasibility led me to choose Ashford. I heard that the online program was fast and efficient, which attracted me. With my job schedule, it was in my best interest to choose that program. With the military, the enrollment was simple. It was guaranteed money for them. It was free money and we military tend not to turn that type of stuff down.

I had a problem with the operations management professor while I was there. He has a template for the final project. I did everything and uploaded it based on his instructions. I sent him an email and say that I was trying to get a similarity match. I ran it through a system to check for plagiarism. Since he said to use the template, I asked for clarification first. I told him to verify with me if everything was okay since it was going off his template.

I thought he was gonna clarify that for me, but he graded the paper instead, knowing full well what I've already told him in advance. When he did that, it irritated me badly. Then I noticed that he went back changed his guidance and instructions. I spent a lot of time and energy on the paper. And I'm military so sometimes I do these papers at around 2 o'clock in the morning. Then I gotta get up in the morning and go to work.

When I went online to look up the professor lookup, people felt the same exact way about him. He was condensing, rude, and sarcastic. He might not be a person Ashford wants representing them, especially since they have become a popular school among military members. I indicated all of this to Ashford and I talked to my student adviser. I was said that I was just gonna be a straight-A student the whole time and this time, I was just gonna choose to lie about everything.

Word travels fast and when people are trying to get an education, people wanna know what's their best option. People who are in a position of leadership, like myself, could influence or suggest to people where to go to. They stood by him and said asked what was the big deal. I said that that was beside the point. It's called integrity. It irritated me that they allowed that to happen, even though I submitted all the evidence and feedback. You wanna look up professors in advance on the professor lookup to see who you'd be dealing with. That way, you know what level of feedback and engagement, as well as what type of learning experience you're probably gonna get.

Also, I want to see a project that incorporates all of the curricula that you have for that degree. One of my friends told me that for their bachelor's and their master's program, they worked on real projects that gave real hands-on experience. Other than that, the learning experience is engaging and makes you think outside the box in a lot of ways, especially with your class.

I had two friends who went through Ashford, and I liked their system of being online. When I contacted them, they got back to me soon and they were really great about helping me with everything. So, it was a smooth transition to go back to school. The online learning materials were 100% easy to navigate and I love it. My professors were always so easy for me to get a hold of and I could email them. If I had questions about assignments, which I’m more of a perfectionist so I did have questions, they all got back to me and give me perfect feedback so I was able to fix or change or do whatever I needed to do. It was great and I learned so much. Everything was easy ‘cause I was also able to access all the materials on my phone.

I had a few different advisers and they all were amazing. They were always in communication with me and they called me to check on me or a lot of emails. They answered all of my questions especially when I was trying to figure out if I wanted to do the Master’s Program. And even in the beginning trying to figure out what I wanted exactly to get my degree and they were able to look at my transcript and say, “Hey, this is” – I was able to tell them what I wanted out of it and they were like, “Oh, this is the best route. This is what we think.” Ultimately, it was up to me, but they gave me their insight, and whatever I wanted, they were like, “Okay. Well, let’s do this.” Then, when I graduated with my Master’s, one of my friends graduated with her Bachelor’s and so I got her involved too.

I heard about Ashford through another student and before I registered, I went to a couple of different schools to see what kind of learning environment was best for me. My husband loved going to University of Phoenix ‘cause one could work more in groups, but that's not my cup of tea. Ashford seemed to be the absolute best for me because everything was online. I didn’t have to worry about going into a class. And the differences were an interesting thing. The teachers were fantastic and 95% of them were incredible. I had one or two that if I could’ve reached through the phone, I would have. But we worked it out through the staff. And I would just email them multiple times saying, “Hey, I’ve asked for this, I’ve requested this, still haven’t heard back. Can you help me out?” And then by the end of the class, they had. But that was a very small percentage.

My advisors were off the hook too, and Brian was phenomenal. I would email him with probably some of the stupidest questions on the planet and I’d have my answer 5 minutes later or he would know who to send me to. If I called, he answered. He also would, out of blue, email me and say, “Hey, how are things going?” And so, that keeps me going. I also had Kimberly, before him for my bachelor’s, and she was the same way. She was phenomenal.

The only thing I found the hardest for the entire thing was the waiting period to get the first grade back so I would know what direction to go in the class. Most teachers would get the grades back within 3 days. But when I'm in a five or a six-week course and when the teachers would take almost 5 to 6 days to get back to me with a grade, then I had no idea on the first week if I was going in the direction that that teacher wanted. I wouldn't get the papers back for almost a week and then I’ve already written the next paper. By the time I get my first grade back, I would have to, “Oh, crap, that’s not how this teacher does things.” So, then I would have to go back and make a bunch of corrections. It’s tough because they’ve got several classes that they’re doing but, still, that was the hardest thing for me. Other than that, I’ve already sent people to Ashford as their student now.

I was looking for an online college and I found good reviews for Ashford when it comes to how they provide for the military. The enrollment was super simple as I asked for help and they took care of most of it. It was very quick. They even helped me negotiate with the VA to get my GI Bill set up and started. The advisors in the program were good too. They would usually respond within 48 hours if I have a question, which wasn't very often.

The bar is set low at Ashford because by the end of my degree, there were people who couldn't cite their sources. Discussion was ridiculous too. It was obvious that they were doing this as a for-profit college and that they were letting about anybody in and grading on a very large curve. It always made me regret going for an online degree. But then again, it's none of my business how they did their stuff. Still, they could improve their course systems and be a little stricter with their grading. The students could also have more interaction with the instructors. Other than that, I was graded fairly and I worked hard.

The qualifications to start the program led me to choose Ashford University. Their enrollment process was easy and the professors were above average. Online courses are really interesting. There's always so much you can do. I had a long journey with them as I took my time with it. I didn't enjoy it very much, but the experience was as good as it could possibly get for being an online environment.

I really enjoyed going with Ashford. It was easy to sign up. Once I get into the classes, it was easy to use. The classes were challenging. But overall, it was a really good experience. It was the first online school that I ever attended. So, it was a new experience for me, and I thought that it was well put together. The only thing is that I had one class where they kinda changed the format of the class and how the structure of the class was laid out. And even though I still did well in the class, it wasn't as easy for me to follow the new model as it was with all the other classes that I took. And that's just due to me working full time. I have three children, too.

It was like a new format that they were trying out where the way they had it set up was that instead of you having the bulk of your assignments due on Monday and Thursday, in that particular class, you had stuff to do every day of the week. And that made it a lot more difficult for me especially with traveling for work, but I still got an A in the class. It was just it was different, and it wasn't as good as they have the other format set up for the classes. Considering I was going to school full time, the flexibility for my schedule worked pretty well. I stayed up a lot really late at night to get assignments done, and I didn't have a weekend for about two years or a vacation because I was doing homework when I was on vacation, but I don't know how much more flexible they can make it. I like Ashford. I have already referred about eight people to start going to school through my work.

I first heard about Ashford in 2008 when I was shopping online for an online higher education program. They were one of three that I had researched. And then, I had a very long conversation with one of their student advisors. That convinced me that Ashford would be a good niche for me. The enrollment was seamless, and getting into the program and into the routine of it was a good fit for me. I got my B.A., my M.A., and my PhD there.

As far as the professors, it was very similar to any brick-and-mortar system. And that you have some fantastic ones, some good ones, and then some that weren’t unqualified, but a lot of that is the teaching style and the fit of the student with the teacher. There’s a better opportunity to have more success with that in online because the personalities aren’t quite so involved as they are in brick-and-mortar universities. But that being said, you’re on your toes about being able to communicate in written form back-and-forth with the instructors. So, that’s a different type of learning there. It’s what you have to do for yourself.

Everything was great with Ashford, including the tutors and the instructors. But there was one course that even when the instructor made corrections and I told her if she could tell me what it was that I was doing wrong, and she even tried highlighting something, it didn’t make sense to me at all when she changed the grade. I felt she didn’t think that the work was mine. I tried the hardest for her because of how hard she graded, and no matter how hard I did it, it just didn’t please her. But it was just that one instructor.

As for the master's program, I was enrolled, all the courses are tailored for the working adult, and geared towards the newest trend in educational technologies, teaching and learning with technology. After completing the degree I advanced in my career immediately. I am a teacher, and a career advisory. I started researching online colleges, and they were one of the first ones to pop up and one of the first people to respond. In the beginning, I worked with the Veteran Affair person there and she knew the GI Bill and how it works. So she was able to inform me better on what I could expect starting out in college and got rid of some of my apprehensions about jumping into something I couldn’t afford.

Online college is tough. Having a full time job and having to learn everything by yourself, there’s no book that tells you that you need to be more dedicated to studying or research. But the first class they gave that teaches you what you need to work on was one of the most beneficial tools. It teaches you about how you learn and how to apply that. The website is really easy to navigate. I didn’t have any issues unless it was something to do with the IT, and if they were, then I contacted the IT people and they helped pretty fast. Ashford gave me all the tools that I needed to be successful, so it made me successful.

I must say that for the past few years I was an Ashford University fan. I did my bachelor's and Masters's degree at this University. So, I thought why not go for the gusto and obtain my Doctorate as well. So, I spoke to my admissions advisor and explained what my thoughts were in getting my Doctorate. I explained that eventually, I wanted to work with people in counseling or a practice environment. I was assured that with my degree from Ashford I would be able to do just that. So very excited about my choice my journey began.

As time went on I had to relocate to another state because of my husband's work. In wanting to have some experience with the new role, I reached out to psychology groups in the area and explained that I was in a doctoral program and wanted to get some experience so eventually I could get licensed to work in some capacity in psychology. I was lucky and a group asked me to come in. After they looked at my unofficial transcript I was informed that with this degree there would not be much I could do in the area of Psychology. Basically, my time was wasted. So, I called my advisor and explained the situation. Another shock! What was explained to me was that these are just general courses, and if you wanted to pursue a career in other areas, then more courses would need to be obtained. "What" why on earth would anyone waste time only to have to do more schooling?

All I can say is thank God I found out now instead of getting the degree only then to find out that my efforts weren't worth the time spent. My advice to all interested in working in an actual Psychological setting ask first and get it in writing that you will be able to work in that field. Note most of these settings require license or certification in order to counselor practice. This degree will not give you those options. So "Make sure you get a full understanding".

Thank you for sharing your experience, Aayan. We're happy to hear that you had a great experience while attending Ashford during your Bachelors and Masters enrollments. As with all of our programs, we offer insight into the program outcomes and special terms and conditions. For this specific program, it's on page 302 of our catalog and reads: Special Terms and Conditions: The Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) is not a licensure program and does not prepare an individual to become a licensed psychology professional. Ashford University does not guarantee that any professional organization will accept a graduate’s application to sit for any exam for the purpose of professional certification or licensure. Students seeking licensure or certification in the field of psychology should carefully research the requirements prior to enrollment. Requirements vary by state. Further, a criminal record may prevent an applicant from obtaining licensure, certification, or employment in this field of study.

Additionally, we'd be happy to review the communication that you had with your advisor to review for misadvisement. We've sent you an email to the address on your student file. Please review and respond accordingly. Thank you!

After dealing with terrible customer service and not getting anywhere I decided it would be best to cancel. I thought that was the end of it, but... Flash forward to 2020 and I got my Credit Report saying That I owe this place over $300. I Decide to call them. They said it was their enrollment fee. Then they change their answer to its a cancellation fee. Then they tell me it's at a collection agency.

I only logged in once, and receive nothing of value, not any of the services they provided, yet they tell me I am on the hook for this money. I called the collection agency as the customer service representative at Ashford said this is the only way to correct the issue. The collection agency said they work for Ashford and Ashford is the only people who can do anything. So I just keep getting the run around. Do not sign up for this or you will be sorry.

Hello, Kori. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. Ashford University follows all federal and state policies and regulations, including policies on collecting debt and working with collections agencies. Additionally, we do not and have never had an enrollment fee or cancellation fee. Student balances generally occur if a student has an unsuccessful grade or withdraws below full time, and does not meet the lender's requirements. We are then required to send any funds back to the lender that the student was not eligible to use, which then creates a balance with the university. With that said, we take our service and your experience very seriously and would like to look into your matter. We were unsuccessful in finding a file that matched your name. Please email social@ashford.edu with the name associated with your student file and a phone number. Thank you and we look forward to assisting you.

It's awesome that going through Ashford was quick. I just wish they would have a lecture that I could find in the library for whatever classes I’m in, so I can look at those. I’d also like to have a classroom with a lecture because then, if people asked questions, those might be the same questions that I would ask. It could be some sort of forum where you could ask questions and maybe somebody else could answer the questions, because some people knew the answers to some of my questions, and I know the answer to some of their questions. They said that the café was something like that, but it didn’t get used like that.

I believe the teachers that had hours that I could call them and telephone number, that’s where I learned the most because I could ask some questions. And they were also kind enough to leave that information. Most of them didn’t do that, though. There were maybe four who I had phone numbers, but communication with others was not as helpful.

The communication was on there but the problem is that everything that you put on there is graded. If everybody could have like a forum for questions and is not graded, that would be great. And the 24-hour email period is kinda ridiculous. All your stuff is due on Thursday, so if you start on Tuesday and you have a question, then Wednesday, you might get an answer back, but you might have another question and everything’s due on Thursday. For a lot of my stuff, I went to YouTube and l’ll understand. And that seems silly when you’re paying as much as you’re paying.

And they were great with scheduling my classes. I had to take a couple of breaks due to deployments and training. Their staff was phenomenal. I really appreciated their feedback and they were really timely with everything. However, online wasn't as challenging as a regular institutionalized college. Also, there's a need to improve their grading standards. I may be my hardest critic, but even sometimes I would submit assignments that I go, "That's a B at best," they come back to me and like, "Oh, it's perfect." But, overall, I had a great time going to school there. I appreciate everything that they did. I have a friend in the navy and I went and visited them. He said that he was in school at Ashford and I asked him what he was doing. He told me about it and said it was recommended by one of his uppers. I had always anticipated on getting a bachelor's degree and I did the community college route when I had graduated high school. I had already pretty much completed my associate when I got married and then moved across the country with my military husband. Basically, most colleges don't really wanna accept military unless you know for a fact that you're gonna be there 'til the completion. But that's not an option for me as I can’t do that.

Enrollment at Ashford was painless. I had some trouble navigating all the online stuff, 'cause I do a lot better in person and I don't have access to a fax machine. That was a little bit of a learning curve for me. I had a few screwups but it was very quick. It's definitely a good thing that I knew what I wanted to do. So when I had issues, I usually would call my advisor and be like, "Hey, I'm really not sure who I need to talk to." They would help me figure out where I needed to go and what exactly it was that I needed. Everybody was always really helpful when I called in.

I really enjoyed learning in Ashford and I like the fact that it was so fast-paced. For some days, it was a little bit more difficult 'cause I have a family. But I like being able to figure it out and learn things. I've always been one that gets really bored if I had to sit and do the same thing over and over again. That's why the traditional college route wasn't my favorite experience. So, I tell everybody about Ashford and say, "Yeah, that's where I went, what I like to do, I enjoyed it." It was a pleasant experience overall. There were a couple of mishaps and things that I would have done differently, but once I discovered them, everybody helped me fix those issues.

But after calling them and getting that worked out, it was fine. The learning experience was really good. I had never done discussion boards, so that was new for me. And knowing that mainly everything was due on a Thursday or on the Monday, gave me enough time to prepare for the following weeks.

My professors were always there to help me when I needed help. They always gave me really good feedback. I would read her papers, partly to look for grammar for her papers because I was in high school by the time she started. She let me kinda watch what she was doing. She told me, "I have discussions due here. I have papers due here." I really liked the way that it was all set up and the discussions once a week on this day and papers this day. I got really good feedback from her. And I know she got good feedback from her professors on all her papers because I was always interested in what she got. She let me read the feedback, and I know it was really helpful for her and that's what I wanted. I wanted professors that would give feedback that would help in what I needed, and be able to contact them.

It was the year after I graduated when I decided to go back to get my degree, and I knew immediately I wanted to go to Ashford. I loved my learning experience through them. In my second year, I was diagnosed with chronic migraine and Ashford didn't waste any time getting me accommodation. So a lot of my materials were print, and that made it a lot easier to learn. They were very accommodating with that. But even before then, we were provided with about 7 to 10 resources in addition to the book that all the professors provided.

The Ashford library had so many resources. I was never without resources for papers, and I gained a lot of information in all of my classes. Some are like classes that don't even really pertain to my degree right now because I teach three year-olds. I don't really need American government to teach three year-olds, but I still learned a lot from that class, and I'm glad I did. I have one friend that I worked with, and she said she has to redo her CDA. She works full-time and I told her about Ashford. I told her their classes are five weeks classes. I also told her I was working full-time and I was able to complete my bachelor's degree with no trouble. And she aid she's gonna have to look into it.

One of the best parts about the course was the conference calls with the teachers and fellow students. A few classes did it, but it should at least be integrated into some of the more strenuous courses. It builds a relationship, not only with your instructor, but also with your fellow students because you’re hearing them speak their own comments rather than just words on a computer.

I did college at a local university and online. It was a 16-week course which was so long and drawn out and I only got four credits for it. So, I started doing some more research and I stumbled across Ashford. The five-week courses kind of enticed me. I just went to the website and I got a link later on from somebody that was trying to help me with it, and they told me what to fill out. A few pages later, I hit submit and it showed that I was approved. I learned quite a bit, which was unrealistic for five weeks but I retained a lot more than I thought that I would. When classes are so drawn out, you would start to forget some of the earlier stuff that you learned. It went well with what I’m trying to do. My job is structured like a business, so business administration has helped me a lot with everything.

The professors were great and most of them were very willing to work with me on different life situations that happened over the years. At one point, I had eye surgery and I couldn’t really see but I didn’t wanna stop school but even Ashford stepped in and helped me to get the professors to understand as well. So, it was good. If you’re scared starting off, just read through the course work ahead and you’ll realize that all the classes are structured the same way every week, so it gets easier. The classrooms are unlocked and it makes it conductive to being able to work ahead. It's always an option and has relieved a lot of my own stress when I was doing the classes. It was just trying to make sure that I work ahead so I didn’t fall behind.

My husband works for the post office and Ashford University was on the list of colleges that they recommend. I liked the convenience of being in an online school and that I didn’t have to add more credit hours to the degree that I already have. Also, a lot of the online schools I looked into wanted me to take almost a full extra semester compared to the credits that I would have through Ashford. Enrolling was quick and easy. The counselors were great.

My degree was in English and I learned way more than I ever thought that I would ever learn about English. Overall, the experience was manageable. At times, it was difficult, but after the first couple of courses, I found out that it was pretty manageable with life with it being most of my assignments were due twice a week, and the professors didn’t overwhelm us with a bunch of unnecessary information. They were excellent and got straight to the point which was what I needed, especially trying to finish out a secondary degree. I feel I earned my education.

All of my advisors were usually pretty quick to reply to my emails and help me out if I needed any help.

One of my old coworkers went through Ashford for their master’s program. It was easy enrolling with them. The quality of learning was really good. I definitely learned a lot. I’ve actually recommended the school to my current coworker. The independent learning process was definitely what worked best for me in a working and a family environment. And the professors were very adamant and attentive to their students, which was great. They were, for the most part, on top of their grading and giving feedback. I only had an issue with one of them. She contradicted herself quite a bit between her feedback and what she was asking for. So, I just kept emailing her and double-checking everything that I was doing, making sure it was what exactly she wanted. We never really worked it out. I still passed the class though. But it wasn’t as high as what the rest of my grades were.

I started back in 2009. I did six months, and then I quit because I was going through an act of divorce, and then I went back six years later. I was able to pick up where I left off. I like the flexibility of doing your homework because I work full time and then my kids had soccer and a whole bunch of other stuff, so I couldn’t do school every day. I had to work around my schedule, and I was able to with Ashford.

The professors were really on the ball. I didn’t have to talk to the professors often, but they were understanding when something came up and I had to be a little late on putting in some of my stuff. There were a couple of times I got sick and they understood. I had to take a forbearance for 45 days because I had open-heart surgery. They got right on the ball with getting my stuff ready, to rest out for the 45 days so I didn’t have to do any class work, and I just picked up until the next class and skipped it. It kept going. I didn’t have to redo stuff and talk to a whole bunch of different people. It was smooth sailing. My only thing is how much I had to pay for the schooling, but it was not as much as it could be in other places. Other than that, I had a great experience with Ashford. I was able to keep my grades up. I graduated with a 3.74.

One of my coworkers was going through Ashford University years ago and he turned me on to it. The condensed courses appealed to me so I was able to do it. Being an active duty military and being able to do that, it worked out well. But if you weren't watching your financial aid, it would get messed up quite frequently. I was getting a $750 stipend after every class and I had to monitor my financial aid very closely because there were always errors being done.

The actual writing of the papers was easy for me because I’m good at doing that but someone who struggled with writing might have an issue with it because it was heavy on papers. The instructors worked with me a lot because there were a lot of times when I was deployed. Some were more lenient than others on when I would be able to turn in an assignment late. I had one who was relaxed and there were times I had an instructor that was hardcore and by-the-book, grading-wise. They were consistent though. As long as I showed up and actually did the work, I seemed to get As and 90% of the class didn't.

It got me in trouble a couple times when I didn't read some of the professors’ announcements but as long as you're reading the syllabus and reading all the announcement they put out, then it’s easy. Some of them would change the way they grade though. They have their own little quirks about how they want things done and if you just get in the habit of stewing the same thing for each class, you could get in trouble and it can bite you. But other than that, it was a good experience.

I didn’t have to take Humanities again ‘cause every time I transferred schools, I had to redo it. Ashford accepted everything. My student advisor, Gene, was the reason I stayed with that school as he was always willing to help, always get me on track, and get me accountable. If I had a problem, I could talk to him and work through it. He was awesome to work with. When I was finishing one class, he would say that we work on the next one to three classes. He would also ask my schedule, or if I have anything coming up, or appointments that I know about so we might have to see after my schedule. I learned how to write papers, which helped me overall in my career. The high ranking I get, the more I have to write. With all the papers I wrote, I just got better and better.

The reason: I have not completed their lousy diploma program. You DO NOT need an online HVAC certification to handle refrigerant or work in HVAC. You DO NEED the EPA 608 which I was told would be provided in voucher form. The program has no direct access to an instructor (there is not even an instructor with contact information my class!), no group discussions or anything beyond a textbook which has been useful. I am now employed in HVAC, and would NOT recommend Ashford University. Best advice is to stay far, far away from this sham of a school. And shame on Ashford for their negative impact on so many lives of those trying to better themselves. For me personally, I am not only stuck with student loans but after Ashford told me I did not owe them anything further, they contacted me at the start of my very last class to inform me that I owe them over $5,000. How is anyone expected to come up with $5,000 in 5 weeks! Even after taking this to disputes (this process is also a joke), it is unclear to me what the unpaid balance is for or why they told me earlier I did not owe anything. The only thing I got out of the conversation is that I owe it and have to pay it, final.

Now after setting up a payment plan with Ashford, they have placed me in collections. This whole situation has left my head spinning and is not something that I can easily recover from. Giving up the last 4 years of my life to work on my bachelor's degree took a lot of hard work and dedication. The positive is that I made the deans list every semester and finished with a 3.91 GPA. The downside is that I have no degree (because they will not release my records), I did not get to attend graduation, I am over $60,000 in student loan debt and I was just informed that Ashford has turned me over to a bill collector for the $5,000 they say I owe.

As you can imagine, I am kicking myself every day for choosing Ashford University to earn a bachelors degree. As the saying goes, hindsight is 20/20 and too late for me, but hopefully not for others looking to better themselves through education. I wish I would have read the reviews prior to signing up. In the end, what Ashford has done to me and so many others is unforgivable, but if I can spare just one person from the nightmare I am going through, then writing this review will have been worth it.

At this level of education you get out of it what you put into it and what you want to get out of it. I've had nothing but good experiences with advisors, financial aid personnel, and with courses. It boggles my mind when I read poor reviews because my experience has been spectacular. I highly recommend this school.

Even though Puerto Rico is a USA territory, I have a doctorate and been living in the USA for 20 years. They felt I needed to take an English language test, again this happened 4 months after I was accepted and completed 3 courses. I do not want anything to do with them. Staff is rude, university is sub par. Do not waste your effort or money here.

She just keep telling me to wait for it. There was NOTHING changes that was part of the status that I was having issue with. And now, I am treating myself like a dog, just to ask her to get my financial aid fix on their end. If I could, I would have a lawsuit right away. For what? Money was "written clearly in their policy" but they do not follow their own policy. They have scammed several people out of their own money, myself included. I never once received a bill for anything and kept up to date on my loan payments to them. They had no problem at all taking them either. Until it was time to graduate and lo and behold, all of a sudden when it is time to receive my diploma, I owe money so they are unable to provide me with it. I haven't been able to get a better job because I don't have proof of graduation. They are solely a for profit business and do nothing but take money from people who are trying to better themselves. I'm graduating in less than two weeks. It's taken almost five years to finish my BA/Psychology. Be warned that Ashford will promise ANYTHING to get you to sign on the dotted line. Afterwards, be prepared to fight every step of the way for what they promised. It's a boiler room ethic and I have had no less than eight Academic Counselors in that time. One flat out lied stating, "It's mandatory to have a minor degree." I fought, she was indeed wrong but nonetheless, they tried to straddle me with classes I didn't need.

I was plagued with technology issues and glitches on their end; ebooks that don't open, surveys you never get and links to pages that go nowhere, but rest assured that your biggest discrepancies will be with the Financial Dept. I now have a charge of $749 that appeared on my account but they cannot tell me what it's for. Until three days ago I had a zero balance. It must be paid in order to receive my transcripts.

They even sent me a check for $1085.00 which is not documented on my student financial account. When I spoke with them I was advised, "Just cash the check, then pay us the $749 that's owed on your account and keep the rest..." There is no documentation which I find unethical. Something is terribly wrong here and maybe that has something to do with their online graduations rate falling to just 26%. Be warned...

They have you taking unnecessary classes to prolong you staying until your financial aid runs out. I would give rate them at zero if I could. My recommendation to the readers, go to another school. They signed me up for a pilot program that took my money and prolonged my dissertation process. The chair left the school and the students did not hear from him for months and the school did not bother to tell us he left. This school is a joke. My advisor has a box of rocks for a brain.

Stay far, far away from this school. They will pull every trick in the book to get your money and keep getting it. I already have a degree and work full time as an accountant so when I decided to go back to school Ashford sounded like something that would work really well with my busy schedule. I was told all my classes would transfer and everything was great. I paid for my first class, got my schedule, and nothing was right. The entire schedule was full of classes I’d already taken. I spent a full week and a half trying to get up with my advisor with no luck.

Finally when I get up with him he and I actually get into an argument. He said my college never sent my transcript, but I know that was a lie because my dad is a professor at the college I originally attended. He even sent it twice. He also said there shouldn’t be any reason for me to have to repeat basic accounting especially since I already have a degree. When I told my advisor that he insulted me and said “just because your dad is a CPA doesn’t mean he’s qualified to give you advice on this.” I was referencing my dad’s college experience more than his qualifications as a CPA but whatever. Anyway, he insisted I had to retake Basic Accounting 1 and there was no way around it so I did.

Of course, on literally the last day of class I get an email saying my advisor no longer works there and I’ve been assigned a new one (who is actually very good). Just as I said all along, she tells me I shouldn’t have had to take that class and issues me a refund. Time wasted but at least I got my money back. I’m now in my 5th class with Ashford and I just received an email this week saying because the English classes I transferred were not taken within the last five weeks I have one week to take and pass an English proficiency exam or I will have to retake English. Another trick. I’m lucky my new advisor helps me out, because most everyone else is terrible.

When I called about this English proficiency exam the guy said “if you don’t calm down I’m going to have to end this call.” How nice it must be to tell a disgruntled customer you’re going to hang up on them. My job isn’t so chill that I can just take someone’s money and hang up on them as I please. It seems throwing a fit is the only way to get what you want. As of today I highly doubt I’ll continue on with my degree.

I had no complaints about the University I attended, I paid out of pocket expenses, student loans and had access to tuition reimbursement programs. Through my employer's partnership with Ashford, I chose to enroll and take advantage of their full tuition grant program. I had the most wonderful experience with Joseph the enrollment adviser. He lead me through the process with getting my credits transferred, setting up the bridge between Ashford and my employer and went above and beyond his job to help me get it all taken care of.

I took the opportunity to read the negative reviews on this University and found that most of the complaints are financial related, not with the University, staff or curriculum itself. Online University is not a cheap, easy or fake way through education. It is definitely not for everyone, and I would encourage anyone to re-evaluate before enrolling to make sure this is the right choice for them. Be accountable for your own knowledge, actions and financial planning.

My advisor was great and although they did change once it never really had an impact on the quality of service I received. It is a lot of work so if you do not have the discipline I do not recommend taking any college courses. Also, take the time to review your financial options, do not get into something you cannot afford. The college is for profit so make sure all your financial paperwork is in order. The professors were great for the most part, and the curriculum was comparable to other universities. They all make you take classes you think you do not need this is not out of the ordinary. Place: Ashford University. Address: 8620 Spectrum Center Blvd. City: San Diego, CA 92123. Telephone: (800) 798-0584 ext: 18160. I attended Ashford University from August, 2010 until May 25, 2017. When I started this school I was told it was “upstanding school with accolades from the U.S. government." That there would be no out-of-pocket cost for my education there and the student loans will cover all cost of my education there. Ashford University has cheated me of an education by way of overcharging me, withholding my disbursements (from my student loans) and charging me for classes outside of my curriculum. They forced me to take classes that I did not need with threats that if I did not take the classes that they would withhold my degree and transcript, which is what they did anyway.

When I have spoken to my 1st student advisor: David **, (800) 798-0584 ext: **), my 2nd student advisor: Rasmikah **, (866) 475-0317 ext: **), my Wellness Coordinator - (Victoria ** (800) 798-0584 ext: **), and others' in the financial aid office (who are a different person any and every time that I called) they all have different stories to tell me.

Although I did not know at the time, the school was being very deceitful in talking me into attending Ashford University and once I was a student in the school they charged me fees and add so many costs until I was trapped, even if I would have tried to transfer (I was told) they would not give me my transcript. Now the Financial Aid office is telling me that I owe them (Ashford) $6,109.0 and they know that is not true. They kept my disbursements all but 2 checks. They kept the money and now the I owe the federal government for the money that Ashford stole from me and the Federal Aid office and that means that I have to pay twice. Ashford should be held accountable for all of the misery that they have placed on the students who came to them for an education. We, the students had no way of knowing that they were thieves.

I have been on several payment plans because of threats from Ashford and because of the fear of their threats. I would like to see closed it should be made to give back to the students the money that they stole. It was about the second year of my education that I noticed charges on my account and upon asking my student advisor what was going on and I was told "not to worry about it" and "it was probably a mistake." They will not release my records and that stops me from attending any other school for my Masters. From that point until I finally was allowed to graduate I received threats of one kind or another from them.

I have never been so depressed in my life and they still say I owe them $6,109.01 when they know that I do not. From 2012 on to now they have stolen from me. I am so sick of them and seems like they have gotten away with it. I did notice a listing of “other charges and fees” when I called the school and ask what is that for and what does it means. I was told by my student advisors again what does it mean because I live out of state.

I failed to do my research on the school and I am going to pay for it now. First things first I was lied to by the enrollment adviser, my wife is military and they attempted to talk me into using my WIFE'S GI BILL so she wouldn't have access to it, they wouldn't stop asking me to take it from her, it was almost to the point of harassment. The enrollment adviser said that my tuition would run at $600 total and I wouldn't have ANY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES.

Clearly that was a lie! That's all they do and that's why they are getting sued. They started charging me much more than what I was told and then when I tried to fight it, they kept saying I signed paperwork, which I never did, the enrollment adviser wanted a signature from me and apparently copied and pasted it to other documents and I magically received them after I started school, so it was too late. I had to drop a few courses due to living in Florida and hurricanes would knock out power or the internet for a while and they told me the courses would be waived and I can take it all over again at no charge, never happened.

All in all I am now attending Arizona State University, paying less than Ashford is charging, FYI their courses run around $1200 or so for non-military... Yeah, that is PER FRICKIN CLASS YOU TAKE!! While a honorable school, that is not a money hungry *pick a bad word* hole, is going to charge $575 per course I take and actually cares about your education. I attempted to fight these ** too many times but they never get back to me in enough time and calling was hell. Enrollment Adviser was - Alan **. My advisor kept talking me in to staying with the course and just "taking a C- is better than withdrawing" etc., Every time I tried to leave the school on my own terms. When I finally could not continue my work anymore (it was the last straw), I asked that they withdraw me. Well I received a letter after that saying I was "academically dismissed" for not showing up/meeting attendance guidelines- even though I was always communicative on why I could not continue. They were actually sending emails to an email address provided by Ashford that I did not even have access to (the school provided one). Well, I did not know all of that until I was actually dismissed from the school.

Anyway, I tried to re-enter after they sent me an email asking when I thought I'd be back. I let them know it would be towards end of December. I then asked for info on how I needed to get that process started and THAT is when they said I was academically dismissed. I feel when I was asked to stick with the course that I KNEW I could not perform in, when I was told it would "be better to get a low grade than to withdraw" on my own terms, is so much as locking me in and setting me up for failure. I am so upset about this. I carried a 3.84 GPA, all through my schooling with you guys, all things considered. Nothing from now until the 6 months of when you tell me I can send another UGA is going to change, so I guess we will just chalk it up to a learning experience that maybe counselors aren't really the best to ask, and to trust your gut instincts.

Then yesterday I was told that I owe out of pocket expenses. And that they were putting a hold on my account and that I needed to withdraw from the school until it was paid.

When I looked at my finances on the student portal they are charging me $7470.00 for room and board and I am an online student so how can I be charged for room and board. I am also being charged $504.00 for transportation. It does not make any sense. Oh and I am being charged $4086 for other personal expense which does not give any details of what that is. First off I only called to receive information. Next thing I knew I was enrolled in school. It happened so fast I don’t even know how. I do know they are supposed to be going non profit by the end of this year but if this were true then why are costs increasing next year when students were promised this would lower cost. I was told my credits would transfer found out that only one previous class transferred. I am disabled and had extensions for my courses to complete my work although this I did not receive until I had already taken multiple classes and one professor noticed my struggle and explained to me how get help through the Ashford health and wellness center. Well I did this. I get extra time however not all of my instructors honored it or took my accommodations into consideration especially the last week of class.

They were always in a rush to get it done and over with one particular class. The school did not inform the students that the website would be down for maintenance on my due date for a final causing mine to be late. I tried to argue with my failing grade I received. Supposedly they were shifting around people in departments. I went through 3 academic advisors before this was dealt with and when it was I was only granted a “c” for a grade when the whole class I was an “a” student besides this and not completing the week 4 assignment as well due to not having cable for the week 4 assignment. We were required to watch a television show with they said we could stream as well supposedly. Well I found one or two of the shows to choose from online but it cost to watch it and I couldn’t afford.

They should have informed us of possible other fees for that class or told us having cable would be a requirement. After researching this school further (the more problems I had got me curious) I discovered the accreditation for this school was basically purchased with the purchase of a small school in Iowa. Ashford itself is less than 15 years old despite their claim of being around a hundred years old. I actually withdrew from school Monday due to a lack of a computer since mine no longer wants to work. I can no longer go to school online. I would love to return to school someday when I can afford to replace my computer however I have also discovered that my credits from Ashford will not transfer to other actually accredited schools which means that I have wasted the past year of my life there and now have lost a year of funding from financial aid that I cannot get back as well as over $16,000 in debt I have to repay for withdrawing.

And Ashford is claiming I will owe them as well an amount that is yet to be determined. In my opinion this is not a good school to attend to receive an actual education. Either the first few classes they give you are mandatory yet completely pointless and worthless. They are there. I was told to learn basics of life at and within the university as well as they will help you incorporate your education into the real world. This is just a bunch of bull to get you think these course were necessary which they definitely were not. I today have discovered they are being sued but this I only discover through an email that link me to a notification stating our financial information would be retrieved from the party suing the school. I talked to a few others I know that are attending the school and they did not receive the same email. I wonder if I received it since withdrew this.

I guess I will never know. I currently am receiving notices stating that I have been absence and if I do not attend they will be forced to withdraw me from school as well as letter from advisor asking when I will return and another stating I need to do an exit interview. Oh and then from the current class I was taking an email message stating I received a zero on my assignment which I was supposed to have a “w” in the course for withdrawing. Needless to say to me it seems this school only cares about one thing and it’s not education rather they only care about making a profit. Save your money. Go to a school you can actually step foot in. They are more trustworthy.

I just finished my major classes and am in my 3rd year working on my minor - if you have self-discipline and can enforce good time-management to get your workload done according to the grading rubric and requested date, it is awesome. I have had zero issues with the material or workload - very flexible and I always take a lot away with me. The teachers can be hit or miss - but I've had way more positive/neutral experiences than I have bad - and it just takes an email to them to remedy it (not everyone grades the same, this can be a gray area if it is written assignments vs. Math and Science where it is black and white answers).

I used the GI Bill to cover my courses and it has run very smoothly - just make sure you double up on all those general education classes in the beginning so you don't run out of your eligible 36 months before your bachelors is complete. Ashford has classes all year long - but only one course at a time - so when creating the GI Bill they were thinking of traditional school terms (and multiple classes at once to finish in 36 months). This was a surprise- but the Pell Grant really helps and I'll only need a small student loan to cover the rest thankfully.

My advisors aren't ever really helpful and informative - but they're there if I have queries. I only wish Ashford offered more reputable/beneficial honors clubs. I've maintained a 4.0 and can't see the value in any of the ones which have invited me :P. I would suggest this school if you are willing to commit yourself to the independent workload :). It can be accommodated by any schedule.

The classes were a joke--clearly filler while they wait for you to drop out. One instructor made it clear they would have graded earlier assignments more harshly if they knew how well I'd do on the final. That instructor also allowed another student to threaten me with violence without comment.

The last straw was ANT101, which was filled with racist (anti-indigenous) garbage as assigned reading. I quit. Now I'm waiting for the harassment about my loans to begin. If I was paranoid, I'd say they target their coursework at high-performance students the faculty disagrees with philosophically. Go figure, the front line enrollment counselors are smooth talkers and well trained to get you in the door, but after that they drop you on your face.

The financial aid department is filled with snotty, catty, sarcastic people. My wife has had more trouble getting her stipend and disbursement then I went through in a 9-month deployment to Iraq. Constantly asking for more financial aid paperwork, then when it gets sent in, she's told she needs to send something else in. Here's an idea, train your people to ask for everything upfront. It takes a week to receive and review something, then when it's done they ask for something else pushing it out at least another week.

As of now my wife's ledger card showed a credit of over $2600 to be issued to her. They only released $1100 of it and told her that money is not for her. It's for educational purposes. Who's paying that money back? Us or Ashford? No joke it's for education idiot, but she has gone from full time to part time work just to attend school, therefore that money is supporting her education so she can continue it and not have to go back to work full time.

Not to mention my stipend... Ready for this headache? The geniuses that be decided that they were going to hold my disbursement for another month because THEY didn't put a grade in right or on time. Tell me how that's my problem! I quit going here because my last class I was falling behind and had reached out to my instructor for help multiple times. She literally sent back the same cookie cutter response to all my emails. Like she didn't have time to teach, just tell us what to do. No wonder this crackpot school has been sued by over 5 different states attorney generals offices AND the VA had cut them out of the GI Bill process for a while.

This place is nothing but a for-profit snake pit, I have an open case with them in the Department of Education, and have reached out to local representatives as well as the OAG and fully intend to see to it that these clowns face another suit and hope they get shut down. Something to be said about an online school that has had multiple names, multiple addresses, many lawsuits, and kicked off previously by the VA. THE VA...they aren't the smoothest run organization either but even they told Ashford to kick rocks. Do not attend this school. They will rob you, lie to you, put you in debt, and leave you with a degree that means squat.

How low of a scumbag organization do you need to be to rip off veterans and their benefits they earned fighting for their country? Look no further, Ashford takes the gold on this too. I hope someone there reads this, and gets ready. I'm coming for you in the courtroom with everything I've got. Get ready for another lawsuit. Bunch of low life jokers. They decided to drop me from my class and then proceeded to charge me about $2000, to reenroll me in it without my permission. I had a hard time at this point with pain medication and always being tired. I had three kids on top of school and managed to get all B's in my classes up to this point. Now that I am ready to reenter school and have found one that will work for me they have decided to hold onto my transcript and make it so that I cannot used the credits I earned from them. I never asked to be dropped then re-enrolled. And when I talked to them about it they acted like they understood. They are a rip off and I am working to get their accreditation taken away from them.

It took me four years and I had to stop and start many times to get through it, but Ashford worked with me through every situation I had to keep me on track and stopping my classes when I needed to stop. Communication with your academic advisor is important so that you can submit the necessary forms to stop your classes and then start them again. It was a smooth ride for me. I did not have any issues with any class or finances at all! You have to communicate with your advisors and professors just like you would if you attended class in person. It is a great school providing a great education! Just wanted to say thanks to Ashford University for working with me through these years to helping me get my degree!

I ended up having to take a leave of absence because my mother became ill and I was caring for her. I had asked for a second extension which was granted to only find out it wasn’t. My counselor signed me up for classes that I was unaware of. When I called to complain he said he couldn’t help me because he had no record of my leave request to which I sent him my email confirmations. They are making me pay $6000 in classes I didn’t take. Not only that they gave me an F on my transcripts for those classes which I should have never been signed up for. They advertise rainbow and unicorns and deliver stress, debt and frustration. Most useless online school I have ever gone to. I highly recommend NOT attending their school as they will only scam you out of money, time and energy.

I finished my bachelor's and master's with this school, and next month I am starting on my second masters. I've been completely happy with my experience here. There have been a few minor annoyances, like a few teachers (out of about 40 that I've had) that were not great, and the initial enrollment process was a major hassle. But it was totally worth it and most of the teachers are awesome. The work is challenging but not stressful. There has never been a problem with my financing in my five plus years with the school, and the advisers are extremely competent, friendly, and supportive.

I don't understand the reviews saying there are financing problems because that's the opposite of my experience. If you read the negative reviews closely, you'll see that most of them are written by people who haven't grasped basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and really just don't belong in college. This is why they are having bad experiences. It is not a reflection of the quality of the school. My bachelors degree from this school literally doubled my income.

One week into my first class I was hospitalized for an unexpected surgery. I missed 4 assignments and was not given a chance to make them up, they were just zeroed out. They have interactive assignments and when I called tech support all they could do was send an email to my instructor. I’ve had to call tech support more than three times in one night. Some student in Utah tried to help me but could not...useless. To make things worse they are not pro military as they advertise. I was told in one of my assignments what one learner did wrong. I was forced to read an article about a Marine that was a total piece of garbage as a student...not professional.

I asked for additional assistance due to my disabilities, it was ignored. I told my so called professor about my issues, she never even responded. After just three weeks I’ve determined this school is totally unsatisfactory. They will not get a dime from me. Once again I strongly recommend VETERANS DO NOT ATTEND this lousy excuse for a University! Do your research people. A week later I was being called by the attendance department telling me I need to post in the class or the school was going to drop me from the school. How can I post in a class if I was not in a class?? My class was scheduled for the end of the break I was on. Ironically enough they would not get my funds from my loans till my class started again.

The school which I argued with tried to force me back to class 2 weeks before my break was supposed to be over. I was glad I had copies of the emails saved because I sent them a copy of each one from my advisor that stated I was supposed to get a break for another 2 weeks. Heck as much money as you have paid to attend this college the least they can do is send it to you for free. My problem with this is that this fee was brought to my attention 2 whole weeks after I had completed the program.

I will not recommend anyone I know to attend this University because I feel as though they nickel and dime you throughout the entire program. I also found out that there was a $14.00 charge left on my account due to their errors. They explained that they forgot to take out $14.00 from my stipend before they sent it to me and now it was my responsibility to pay them back. I am already upset about the 150. So, as instructed I paid the balance in full (758.00). However, Months after graduating and getting my degree in the mail I received a call and a letter most recently from the school and was told by a financial advisor that I had to pay $2861.00 and that my expected refund would not be given and there was not a valid reason given to support that decision. I have tried endlessly to obtain my degree from the institution and have had no success whatsoever.

At this point I feel things are completely out of order and with the numerous of calls that I am receiving it is beginning to become harassment and a very stressful situation for me. I really enjoyed my time there along with meeting great teachers that helped to mold the person I am today.

I have worked extremely hard to exceed the standards of what my degree represents and all I'm asking is that my request be acknowledged and corrected. I did my part and now I just want the institution to do theirs. As a resolution to this situation I am requesting that my original balance of $2861.00 is honored and my account is cleared. I contacted the University the very first week of class and told them that I wanted to dis-enroll, I explained to them that this is just not a good time for me to be going to school. The student adviser that was assigned to me said even if I dis-enroll from school I am still going to be responsible for the entire student loan debt that was obtained for the Bachelor's degree program, this left me with no option but to continue on with School.

Ashford University took advantage of me during a time in my life when I was very vulnerable, unemployed, living off of unemployment and going through a divorce. I am now left with over 73,000 in student loan debt which I am unable to pay and no career to support the degree which I obtained. Since graduating and completing my bachelor's program, I have never been offered any assistance with trying to find a job in the field for the career path that I am suppose to have through obtaining a bachelor's degree, Instead shortly after completing my degree I was harassed by salespeople from Ashford that were interested in how much more money they could make off me by enrolling me into another program. For those seeking to get an education online do not use Ashford University!

Every years the amount is different. I contacted FA in October of last year and asked for my balance because I planned to start paying the balance down by graduation. It was 3K in October now it's over 7K how am I supposed to pay that in 3 months with my grad date is in April.

When I decided to go to this school, I thought that this school was more credible than this. I received 96 credits from another school and I was told by the person who recruited me to this school that they will transfer 90 of those credits. They transferred them alright, they transferred them and made sure that I only got credit for 58 credits. When I asked why were the classes worth 2.67 and 1.87 when they were worth 3.00 credits in the other school they told me some bull about it being a difference between semester credits and quarter credits. Credits are credits. I am not paying for classes that I have already taken and past so that this school can receive more money from me. Now they have the nerve to push my graduation date back for the third time with no explanation and nothing had changed. If you are looking at the commercials and thinking this school is on the up and up run fast.

The admissions department will advise you that certain degrees will help you or fit to the career you're wanting. I received my Associates and Bachelors degree at Ashford and decided to advance and work towards my Master's. I must say, these admission people will persuade you to advance to the next degree not caring how it will affect you financially. I stop my Master's program after talking with someone outside of the school and realized that degree they talked me into wouldn't actually benefit me at all. So I quit right then and there not thinking it would affect me, this is until the school tells me I have to pay back the school for the class I took previously. Are you kidding me? I used financial aid and I'm once more being screwed over by them. I haven't been able to find a job that either of my degrees are in nor does having these degrees help me in any way get a job.

So here I am having to pay back this school monthly until I pay them back and they're holding my Transcripts hostage preventing me to switch schools even though they told me if I start a monthly payment they wouldn't do this (but again LIED). I've advised everyone I know personally not to pursue going to school at Ashford University especially MILITARY. I am in financial aid debt for absolutely nothing. We're a military family with children and I just wanted to go to school and find a decent job to help my husband with the finances since we don't get paid a lot and all I did was add more financial stress on us by going to Ashford. Save your family the financial stress and do not attend Ashford.

In 2012, I began looking into getting a degree in relation to substance abuse counseling through online courses. Before completion of my application to Ashford University I asked my financial aid representative if my felony would affect my ability to become certified in the state of Georgia. The lady informed me that "That shouldn't be a problem." Since my graduation I have found out that this is not the case. The degree I received is not one recommended for substance abuse treatment.

And now I am saddled with sixty thousand dollars in student loan debt. With no prospects of working in my chosen field. In fact, it is impossible for me, a felon in the state of Georgia, to receive the necessary license required to become a counselor in my state. I will be looking into further actions regarding the refund of my student loan debt. As it is federal loans, this cannot be done through bankruptcy. I believe that I have been lied to by Bridgepoint, and representatives of Ashford University.

As with the other reviews on Ashford, all I can say is RUN. The IT fee you pay is a joke as their IT dept has no clue how to help. The "classrooms" are ridiculous. All you learn is paper writing. And those are graded differently from class to class. Instructors don't teach, they just grade, and don't even tell you why they marked things off. And when you call the offices, people you want are always in a meeting. Too many meetings, not enough work getting done. If you want an education other than paper writing, go somewhere else.

I wish I would have done my research on ASHFORD want to be a university. I have been taking online courses for 14 months now and let me tell you, I wished I had enrolled in a reputable college other than this place. The courses are crash courses and the only thing I have learned is how to write freaking essays. The instructors are biased and some are plain rude and ugly. I would not classify them as instructors as they do not teach crap, much less help their students.

The courses are grueling, time-consuming and my family time suffers greatly as there are no reprieves. But the worse part is the shoddy courses cost over a 1000.00 dollars and for what? Makes you wonder if the credits are legitimate. Let's get to the student advisors - they do not fashion an individual schedule to a student's preferences and when you have problems do not expect a timely response.

I am currently having some hardships as far as moving to a city over 100 miles away and cannot keep up with the stupid assignments they throw at you and my advisor tells me to finish the course, how genius? I do not have time to sit for hours in front of a computer to do so, no fairies packing items, moving items, finding a home or any of the things needed to relocate because my husband's job moved. I am told I will owe 1500 for this course and I am taking a medical leave for back surgery as I will not be able to tolerate the sitting in front of a computer in pain.

They request my medical records, sorry but I draw the line on that one. Now, let's start on the financial aid, I have been fighting with the financial aid department about documents and have submitted every one requested. They continue to harass and threaten me about paying back the funds I have used thus far and they held a course I started.

I am in good standing and I think I am getting out while I am ahead. I have noticed that prospective students are not given an option for an Associate degree and are spoon fed a Bachelor degree. I have recently found out that the degree I am pursuing is not accredited from this college in my state. SO MY ADVISE. GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN and go to a better college, this one ought to be shut down. Do the research. They were sued in 2012 for these types of practices and when you inquire about to your student advisor, they change the subject.

This school should be shut down. These people will lie. They say I owe them money when in fact I don't. I called FAFSA directly and they said I don't owe the school any money. The school would not send any of the paperwork I requested. They tried to put $2600 on my credit report saying I was past due, but luckily FAFSA took care of that for me. I withdrew from 2 classes within a couple of days, and they still charged for 1 even after saying I wouldn't owe. The classes were just a joke, just reading and open book tests, which I can do in a library.

And on top of it they tried making me retake classes I have already taken and got credit for. They refused to give me paperwork I asked for, and gave me the runaround, and talked with 3 different people. I'm not even sure if the instructors were real, the whole thing seemed funny since it was the same exact outline for all the classes. I emailed one instructor and finally got a response after 3 days, but it was too late for the assignment. What are the instructors getting paid for since everything is automated? They didn't teach me anything, it was just reading then a test like I said. Do not go to this school, they are double dipping...

Updated on 3/12/2018: I wrote a review almost a year ago about this school... But I’m writing another one since I am getting harassing phone calls from them. Just an FYI, what I owed to FAFSA which was hardly anything since I dropped my last class, which in fact when speaking to FAFSA they said I owed nothing to Ashford since they paid them before I started each class, they are still harassing me to pay them. I’m tired of those stinking people. Ashford is the most horrible criminals, and frauds, and the funny thing is that the third counselor they sent me to wanted me to write good reviews about them, and almost bullied me into doing so. Please shut this school down... Not only do I get harassing phone calls, but they attacked my credit. Which now it doesn’t matter so much, but still, they harass you to no end.

The creditor that called me today was so rude... I hung up. I read some of the nice reviews that were said, just wait till your near your graduation, and see what happens then. Even after a year still getting harassed by them is awful, and thought that was illegal anyway. Those courses are a joke, and for the person who wrote that we are just not disciplined enough for the courses, heck, you don’t need to be, just follow your last course, it was the same thing over and over again. Please shut this school down, I’m begging you.

When I first started this school in 2006 I absolutely loved it. The enrollment counselor was absolutely amazing. That being said she in face was the only one that was every great to me. I qualified for a full Pell Grant and they told me I was approved for an institutional scholarship as well. The rest would be covered by loans. I made it a point to talk to my financial aid advisor at least once a month, as well as my academic advisor because I'd didn't ever want mess anything up with my aid, loans or classes. I was enrolled in the school for a Bachelor degree in Psychology. I was good to go with my first set of 7 classes. My financial aid advisor told me everything looked great and I still had plenty to spare. I never ran out of funding, which is great after reading the other reviews.

I got really sick in 2007 and I called my academic and financial aid advisor because I was going to have to have major surgery. They informed me that I still had time to drop my following class and that if I finished that class which I did with an A that all my financial aid would stay intact and that I wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket because I was dropping the class before it had begun. I left the school and I didn't worry about it because as they said everything was handled.

After several weeks I got an email about needing to turn in assignments for the class I had dropped from the teacher. WHAT??? I emailed the teacher back right away and let them know this class had been dropped before it started due to my health situation and I was put temporary academic leave due to a health emergency. The instructor replied and said as long as I didn't log in that I'd be administratively dropped from the class and that I wouldn't have an financial responsibility to the class. I checked the attendance policy in the Student Rights and Responsibilities catalog and it pretty much said the same thing. Well they not only billed me for the class in full, they withdrew me from the school, and gave me an F in the class. Mind you I'd already talked to my advisors.

After the teacher emailed me I forwarded it all to each of them and asked what was going on? I even sent all the forms they'd had me fill out prior to that with the dates and all on them. I never heard another word from either of them. I thought well I guess they're working on it. I called a few weeks later (mind you I couldn't be all over it I was healing from major surgery that had me off my feet for at least 8 weeks) they never returned my calls or emails. I kept trying, NOTHING. I did get a bill finally and so I called them, they didn't care anything about investigating all of this and proving that I was telling the truth.

I reached out to my enrollment advisor who was so nice, she was upset as well, she referred me to a few different people and they basically would always send me to a different collection advisor to get it taken care of, well they always sent me to one guy that would never look into anything. He would just tell me how I could pay and that was my only choice. REALLY, now 10 years later they still won't help me. Now they're holding my transcripts. After talking to several agencies we've found several discrepancies, including the fact that they never even used any of my Pell Grant, I confirmed that with FAFSA and ED.Gov.

So here I am someone that actually did what they were supposed to do and I'm still no further to an actual solution other than paying the over $1000 bucks that I don't have from something that actually wasn't my fault. So the takeaway is, now they won't email me (they know I'm keeping them for proof) they will only talk on the phone and they won't let me record it nor will they launch an investigation.

They didn't use my 5,000+ in Pell Grant, they put it all on loans I'm still paying back, they won't let me have my transcripts and I'm still trying to find a way to go back to school after all of this. You'll see the F for a class I dropped and even if I hadn't should have been academically dropped from, the fact that they didn't use a single dime of my $5000 grant money and that I was not only billed for the class I had SUPPOSEDLY been dropped from I was also billed for the class before it in which I made an A in and qualified to be covered from the loans and grant. They sent money back to the federal loan company (Yes I do understand disbursements and the class I got an A in qualified for it.)

Needless to say, I will push this forward via complaints. I don't care about getting any funds from them, I simply want the F removed and the transcripts off of hold status. After all I did what I was instructed to do and I followed up immediately, for ONCE this isn't my fault. I was an adult here, but they are acting very deceitful by not wanting to do emails or look into it all. Thanks for the vent session. I'm done being silent after 10 years of trying to resolve this. Way to keep an adult from gaining an education Ashford the very thing you swore was one of your ideals.

In all that time I was never told that my loans would be maxed out, in fact, I am the one that had to call the financial department about it, 2 months from graduation!!!! Great, thanks for giving me time to get other funding!! Then when I posted a complaint to the Board of Education and the Attorney General they had their attorney contact me back stating that the school was unaware I was a disabled student! Really? Funny, since their Access and Wellness department has me currently under accommodation for said unknown disability.

If I had known how horrible this school was, I would never have signed up with them in 2014. Don't get me wrong, I've learned a lot, but in the real world higher education doesn't get you as much as experience, so if you do decide to go back to school, utilize a university you have researched. Ashford is a great school. A coworker of mine was three years in when she told me that she was attending Ashford. At that time, I was looking to go back to school and was excited to know that Ashford was an online school. I had long determined that "long distance" classes as my local college named them, was the right fit for me. I had literally attended all three local colleges in my area, and I had either withdrawn from too many classes or failed. Therefore, I was not eligible for financial aid until I passed a probationary period and paid out of pocket for them. I did not want to attend the Universities in my area because I did not want to pay high tuition rates, I could not attend traditional classes because I work full time and have small children, and I felt that I was too old to be among a younger crowd. Thus, I read everything about Ashford and their processes on their website.

I was eager to go back to school and with their online classes catering to the working adult, Ashford was a good fit. I was not fond of their high tuition rates, but I felt that I was paying for the convenience of them being able to tailor around my busy work and family life. Later, I learned that the school offers so much support and today I feel that school offers value for their rates and their rates are comparable to other Universities. The writing center has everything you need to become a good writer. You can freely access writing editor websites like Grammarly. During the first few classes, I was babysat and was regularly emailed reminders with deadlines. Later that changed, but the routine is set in which you quickly learn that discussions are due Thursdays and responses, quizzes, or assignments are due by Monday. It never changes. The class structure is designed to help you achieve an eight to ten paper of what was taught.

Each week you are assigned work that will contribute to the final paper that will be due in week five. It is never just thrown on you to ultimately figure out. The course guides are available for any class that the school offers, so you will know what the assignments will be if you plan, but I have always like how they break up the work even if you just take it week by week. When I first enrolled, financial aid took about five months to complete. I had to submit verifications forms and a couple of tax returns. I sent them wrong or incomplete documents at times, so I delayed the process too. Between working full time and not being able to fax or email at work, I did find it frustrating, but I never blamed the school. I viewed it as part of the process, and I did not want to quit or have a tuition bill owed that I knew I would not be able to afford so I worked with them and so did they until we got it completed.

The following years, Ashford did not require anything of me. I just had to complete my yearly FAFSA. I had a grade appeal that I submitted. The teacher had given us a template to fill out and apparently, I had turned in a blank assignment. The teacher gave me a zero and commented that I could redo it and turn in again for credit. I had already completed the work, so I simply turned in the completed assignment again. This time ensuring that it was the correct document. I emailed the professor to remind him to regrade, and he never did. I was a new student, and I trusted that the teacher would hold up his end. Plus, five weeks go by so fast, and I was not worried about it.

In the end, my grade was unchanged, and I asked my advisor what could be done, and I was advised to turn in a grade appeal. I told the school that I had inadvertently turned in a blank template but was able to show that the last time I worked on the completed template was before the due date. To prove it, I submitted the track changes that Word provides to show that I was not lying (which also catches plagiarism). The school spoke to the professor on my behalf and concluded that the assignment should be graded and updated my grade. I believe that my internet connection was weak and caused a glitch when I saved my completed document using the same name as the original template. On other occasions, I was required to work overtime at work, and I could not keep up my job, family, and school. I was getting burned out. I reached out to my advisor again and learned that I could submit an academic leave request.

I learned that they are also cooperative with you if you should get sick, endure an economic hardship, or a natural disaster. On many national holidays, all Ashford students are given one or two-day extensions by the President and notified via email. They keep up with national news and are aware of natural disasters that affect different areas regionally or disasters such as the Orlando nightclub shooting. I find the school is considerate of student's feelings and well-being by doing those things. For anyone that has ever taken an online class especially in Texas as I have, the work always requires comprehension of a lot of reading and strong writing skills which I find Ashford to support.

Online learning requires a degree of confidence in self-learning, although Ashford equips you with tools and encourages the student to know that you are not supposed to know everything to be successful but teach you how to be a learner (student) to learn the information. The learning quest is not a destination but indeed a journey.

Recently, I fell behind on school work and was ready to fail a class (again going through a personal burnout). My professor emailed me to check on me. I had never slacked off completely as I did in this class, and I hate emailing the instructor to make excuses for my shortcomings, so I found it so encouraging that this professor cared that he motivated to do two week’s worth of assignments, plus a final paper all within a week. I passed the class, and this event is what lead me to give Ashford the best rating they deserve for all the good I have experienced at this school. I would recommend Ashford to any working parent that needs to go back to school and needs someone to hold their hand until they are ready to fly. Stay in school!

I was told by Ashford University that I could not continue to go to school there because I did not provide the proper information. I was extremely confused because I've already been enrolled and I already gave them my information so all of this made no sense to me at all. As a result of them disqualifying me from continuing my education, I am now forced to pay student loans back much earlier than anticipated because I thought I was going to go to school for at least 4 years.

I feel very vulnerable because I do not know how to file a lawsuit against an online university especially because I do not live in the state that the university is at which is California. Now I owe thousands of dollars that the student loan folks are trying to get from me immediately and I didn't receive the education that I was pursuing leaving me at square one and in debt. I am devastated, confused, and extremely upset with Ashford University for their involvement, or lack thereof. Let me be clear, I was disqualified and told I could not continue to go to Ashford University even though I've never failed a class and I've completed a year and a half worth of schooling and credits. Clearly, the most negative reviews are centered on the financial department. To those, welcome to the world of self-accountability. Business is as the saying goes, "business". Education is a business, whether or not a non-profit or a for-profit learning institution. I earned my degree at AU and never had any financial issue that I was not able to correct promptly. It sometimes happens in life as well as during one's college experience. Yup, even in the top schools. The key is to stay on top of your finances in every facet of your life.

My experience was pretty solid. Let's be candid, Ashford cannot compare to Ivy league schools, but it is by far not the worst. Not the best, because some students need hand-holding, face to face interaction with peers and instructors, and lots of guidance. You will not get a monumental level of either, unless you correspond electronically with other students (I did) or prove to your instructor that you have a decent grasp on the subject to care to really learn about the matter. AU is an online platform. It means a hell of a lot of focus, research, and dedication to do well. For those who choose to simply scrape by and get a degree, good luck on that. Sure, you may pass courses by the skin of your teeth. You can do so at any school, can you not? The truth is I have been to a number of brick and mortar schools and met motivated students and those who just wanted to get the paper.

For those with the mindset, "getting it over with" to just get that paper, cool. Sure, it can be done that way at AU. Conversely, those who plan to apply their focus and energy to learn about writing and other skills, Ashford can be very demanding, depends on the instructor. However, to truly benefit from the Ashford experience, study hard and learn to research. I am a better person for the experience and a much better professional. In the end, if a student sacrifices time and effort, what does that person have to lose? On the other hand, pay attention to details. Track your financial packages. After all, sacrifices and wasted energy amount to nothing if you drop the ball on the financial side of the field.

Be smart, attentive, and proactive concerning your financial well being and you will do well, at Ashford and in other areas of your life. Many who are contemplating enrolling at Ashford, understandably question its legitimacy, because of negative reviews. Believe me, AU is legit! The question is: Are you ready to challenge yourself and become a better person?
