I had a package delivered from Sea Corals and it arrived damaged. I contacted Canada Post and they told me I had to contact USPS. I contacted them and they told me to have the company file a claim. Four months later, I received some paperwork to fill in. I filled in the forms and mailed them out two days later. I contacted Sea Corals and they called USPS. Apparently, USPS sent out a form for them to fill out. They never received the form so I had them contact USPS again and again. The fourth time they apparently send out the form, it arrived. The form was received by USPS on May 18, 2006. I received the package on November 2008. It has been seven months and the problem still hasn't been resolved. I can not believe that USPS mail does not arrived three times. How can it get lost so many times? Is USPS that bad or did they not send out the forms the first three times?

The Platteville Water/Sewer Department is regulated by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC). When someone fills out an application/termination form with a new responsible customer listed, we have to inform this customer that the water/sewer billing is going to be put into their name.

We mail this letter and form out to the new responsible customer and the Platteville Post Office is not delivering this mail. They are coming back stating the address is vacant or the party does not live there. We are a college community and the students come and go during the summer months. They are still getting their mail at these addresses. The PSC suggested doing a complaint, because we have talked to numerous employees at the Platteville Post Office stating to make sure they deliver this mail.

The PSC stated it shouldn't matter, if the house is vacant they need to deliver this mail. We are having to put in extra time to either resend this information out more than once, in hopes that the post office will deliver or having to pay extra postage in some cases.

I had ordered some packages via eBay. Our mail carrier (all I know is his name is Tim) left 2 packages at my door on 4-23-09 and 4-24-09. They were stolen! We live in an apartment complex and no packages are supposed to be left at the door (that is just common sense). We have personal lockers (package boxes) up where are mailboxes are instead of putting my packages in the package boxes like he was supposed to. He left them at the door where over 300 people could have access to them. The packages were valued at over $150.00.

I contacted my local post office the minute I realized what had happened after I checked my delivery status and it said they had been delivered. They spoke with the driver and found out what he had done. I spoke with a lady named Chastity and she transferred me to the post master named Leanne **. This Leanne woman has not tried to help me! She has been given my number several times. She will not take my calls. I am getting very frustrated with her. It has been over a month and my packages are still missing and so is my money! I just got off the phone with Chastity and she apologized over and over (which none of this is her fault).

I mailed 19 packages from Saltillo, Mississippi to Aviano, Italy. Eighteen packages made it to my destination. I could barely afford to mail all of the important boxes, let alone insure each of them. Well one did not make it and it contained all of my shoes and clothing I had just purchased. I lost over $100.00 in merchandise that I cannot replace because I live in a very remote part of Italy. We are US Air Force. Most online businesses will not ship to my address hence, the shopping spree in the states for my kids school clothes.

Both have cashier's checks in them and one of them were very important papers on my properties so I am outraged over the total incompetence of the U.S. mail. I have lost over a hundred dollars and important legal papers on my properties just floating around somewhere for someone to open.

I had a laptop computer shipped to me from Milwaukee. It was sent via express mail, with tracking and insurance. It never arrived. The post office can only say they received it on May 4th in Milwaukee. After numerous visits to the local post office, checking the tracking status online, and calling the 800 service numbers, nobody was able to help me locate my computer, or was even interested in helping. They all said the same thing "this happens all the time, just file a claim after 21 days".

After 21 days, I went to file a claim at the local post office in St. John. After waiting in line for 30 minutes, I was told to come back in 2 and a half hours, because the person I needed to give the form to, had gone on break. A few days later, I called the service number to see if my claim was being processed. I was told to call back in one week. I did this, and was told it would take at least 30 days for the claim to be put in the system, and at least another 30 days before a decision could be made. After all this, I still have no computer, and I expect to wait over 90 days, before I can get back my money, to try and buy another computer.

I am emotionally drained, and have a difficult time even going into the post office now, to get my mail. I lost my job at the end of January, and purchased this computer, to update my resume and job hunt. I cannot even do this now. I live in a small island, where there are no computer stores. I use my roommate’s computer when he is not using it. This has caused a major setback in my life.

On 6/3/09 at 10:09 am, I went to the Crosby, TX post office to mail out some important documents (i.e. a check). I was waited on by clerk, Alice. I told her that it needed to be delivered by 6/5/09 by 5 pm at the latest and asked her how I should send it. She told me since it was only going to Houston (zip 77014) that I could send it priority mail with delivery confirmation (so that I could track it) and it would be there on 6/4/09 as it was only a one day point. As of today, 6/5/09 at 6:14 pm, the only information provided to me is that my letter was accepted for delivery on 6/3/09 at 10:03 am at the Crosby, TX post office.

When I talked to Gwen **, the postmaster at Crosby, she told me that I will have to wait until it is delivered because they just can't find it. She also told me that because I didn't send it express mail, I have no recourse. She told me I should have known better and sent it express and not priority. I told her the last time I checked I did not work for the post office and therefore rely on the expertise of postal employees to tell me how I should ship time sensitive material. I was told I should have known better and that postal employees have a script to follow and Gwen said that there is nothing that she can do. And because I didn't ensure it, all of this entire fiasco is my mistake.

The time sensitive material is a check for my housing payment that if not delivered by the 5th of the month, eviction proceedings start on the 6th. Now the check was a cashier's check from my bank. I called to see if I could stop payment and get a new check issued. The only way that this can be done is by obtaining a surety bond from an insurance company and only then can a replacement and stop payment be preformed. The surety bond takes 72 hours to be approved. I would like for the post office to find my mail and return it to me ASAP so that I can hopefully hand deliver it and avoid being evicted. The check was a cashier's check for $1050 and I can't stop payment on it without a surety bond issued by an insurance company. The bond takes 72 hours to be approved and without it I can't stop payment on an official check for 90 days. My rent is now past due with late fees of $45 for the first day and $10 a day after that.

We are a small business that have been shipping with USPS over 300-400 small packages a day, selling consumer electronics. Packages were always disappearing, whenever our usual pick-up driver didn't come (which became often). We have complained several times to the supervisors about this problem, but we were threatened repeatedly to cut off our pick up. This continued, until we were permanently shut down, and our funds are frozen, after a big batch of stolen packages. Until then, we were eating missing package costs, and resending to customers for over a year, which ate up most of any profit left.

However, customer complaints caused our account to be permanently shut down. We can't insure our packages, because they are small, and have low profit. USPS employees are fully aware of this, and unfortunately now, we are out of business. We let go all our employees, our account permanently shut down, and $100,000 in frozen funds for investigation. Several families have suffered.

I sent a package with delivery confirmation on 5/19/09. It arrived at the post office on 5/21/09. An attempt to deliver was made and a slip was left in the resident's box to notify them of the package. For days, we have tried to locate this package and everyone, except the post office where the package originated, is feigning stupid. I have been told that the postman doesn't know what he did with it and they want this answer to be sufficient! Am I crazy?

If the package had not reached the door, it would be one thing, but because the package made it there, no one was home, and the postman took it back, there is proof that he had the package in his hand and he is responsible. I have sent several emails and talked to the postal supervisors but they are very laid back. Is this common practice at this post office? If no one signs for the package, are they stealing it and its contents? What am I paying for?

I demand an answer from the postman and his office supervisors. How can they allow him to get away with this? I am now out about $50.00 including postage. My granddaughters are so disappointed that they will not receive their package from their grandmother and I have spent a lot of time trying to get the post office to understand that they need to find my package. They are very ignorant.

His mail is taken here from the house by the mailman. On this particular package, we had a shipping label from the company and the printed postage from online on the box. The package was picked up and scanned into the system at USPS on May 1.

The next update that I got on the package was that it had been sorted and left the Cincinnati, OH USPS facility. It is now 6-2-09 and the package is nowhere to be found. My purse was left at a hotel when on a business trip and the hotel sent the purse via USPS to me directly. It is now three months later and the location of the package is completely unknown. It was sent from Sun Gold Lodge Taos, NM 87571 and was to arrive at Davis, CA 95616. Though they should have, they didn't send it insured and so there is no tracking number that they could give me. I have been calling them and the USPS to see what happened to the package but the hotel swear they sent it and USPS tells me there is nothing that can be done. I tried to file a lost parcel report at the USPS customer service center with a woman named Renee, but when I called back to complete the report, another representative said that I could not file one over the phone and that I would need to file a "mail lost report" online at their website. I looked and searched through their website, there is no such form.

It is ridiculous that I can not even file a lost package form so that USPS can be aware of the situation. There are lost package centers and how are they to know about packages lost if they are not given notice? In searching for the elusive mail lost report, I found that many people have had similar situations with USPS. I found a reference to this website at one of the forums where I could file a complaint for poor service. I hope that someone will address this issue. My purse is still missing with my checkbook and over $200 in cash that was hidden in case of emergency.

UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT: Today, May 28, 2009 @ 1:10 PM I, Janice Polk, went to the post office located at the Parkway Station, Bronx, New York, 104629991. There was only one clerk and over ten (10) customers. When I asked to speak to the manager because of there being only one teller, clerk 20 started shouting loudly that I just got there and that I was not going to be giving her any "wolf tickets, etc." and she said that there was no manager. Then when I said could I speak to a supervisor she did not reply. I started asking loudly for the workers in the back to send a supervisor or manager out front, but no one came. Later when I went to be serviced by clerk 20, I told her that I wanted to pay for insurance on my package, but she said that my package could not be insured because of the type of package I was mailing. I was mailing back white vintage jeans that I received from Romans in a blue plastic bag. I always insure my package when I return them in the same package that I received them in. Clerk # 20 was just trying to give me a hard time. I also told her to put it on my credit card, and then she said that if it is not signed I can not accept it. So I said if it needed a signature of course I signed it, then I gave her my credit/debit chase bank card. She returned my card and said that I am not going to accept it because it does not have your signature on it. I said it has no place to put a signature and I also said that I have never had any trouble using it at the US Post Office before. I told her to just use the card as a debit card then instead of a credit card. While riding home on the bus I got to thinking, since I was never told before that I could not put insurance on my package because I was returning it in a blue plastic bag (by the way it's the same blue plastic bag that I received it in) maybe clerk 20 was going to steal my package, that is why I am writing this complaint just incase Romans does not receive my returned merchandise worth $31.00. I wanted to insure it for $30.00, but clerk # 20 for some reason told me I could not insure it. If my package does not get delivered to Romans all I have as proof is this compliant and the attached receipt proving that I sent a package to Indianapolis, IN 46283 Zone-5 Parcel Post for $7.02. My complaint is that clerk 20 was rude and had a bad/nasty attitude because I spoke up and complained about there being only one teller at rush hour. She tried to prevent me from sending my package by not allowing me to use my chase credit/debit card as a credit card. She also did not allow me the comfort of knowing that I would not be out any money if my package got loss and Romans did not receive the returned merchandise by refusing to let me insure my package for $30.00. I have my receipt it has on it Bill#: 1000500338578; Clerk:20. Well, I don't have a really big problem with the USPS as a whole. However, a very rude postal carrier came to my door and asked if I cared if we and my neighbor got our mail. I asked him what he meant by that. He continued with a very smart-aleck attitude, a little laugh, and said that I keep on blocking the mail boxes in front of our house. I apologized and informed him that I was in the middle of moving. He gave me a little smirk and said that it happens a lot. I told him that I can't help it if other people park in front. I told him that I had heard from my roommate that we were not getting our mail so I quit parking anywhere near the mail box.

The street I live on is very small and narrow. The houses are very old and hardly any big driveways that can fit more than one car. This man was still very rude after I apologized to him and admitted that I was in a hurry. The thing that makes me angry is that if he can get out of his mail truck and walk up the steps to my front door to be a smart **, he can walk the 2-3 feet to put our letters in the mail box. I know that the post office does a great job the majority of the time, but whatever happened to "Through rain, sleet, or snow!"

I found out that he was holding our mail which contained the bills we needed to pay. He wrote on the envelopes of our mail that read "box blocked." I was in the military; I know about hard jobs and having to do them no matter what. I told him that I didn't want to prevent anyone from getting their mail, and I didn't want to harm anyone. He said his job was hard enough without people making it harder! I lost my temper and said I was a veteran and I know about hard jobs. He then said he was too. I wanted to yell and tell him he sure as hell didn't act like it.

When he saw that I was getting angry, he went to his truck laughing! I could have lost my temper and started yelling and swearing at him, but it would have just made it worse. My best friend's dad is a postal carrier and he has mail routes that lead out into the middle of nowhere. He gets out of his truck all the time to deliver mail without complaint. This proves that not all postal carriers are like the man who delivers to my house. What happened to customer service and treating the people who pay your salary with respect?

This is really beginning to piss me off. Why is my mail not being delivered? This is a second item that was to be delivered. This one has not been delivered either! So far, the post office has two (2) pieces of my mail and they have not even tried to deliver. I am home! Lazy postal carrier! Same thing last year, online it said a package I was waiting for was delivered but nothing was so I drove to the PO which is 8 miles from home and asked in person why it said delivered when it hadn't been. The lady walked into the back room and came out with my package in her hand. No one had even made an attempt to deliver but they scanned it as if they did. The lady had me fill out a paper, so there should be a record.

Due to the heat index in Yuma in the summer, the carriers sometimes don't ever even show up on some days because we've seen them sitting down the street in their vehicles and occasionally they put mail into wrong boxes. And since we have so many snowbirds that leave for the summer, it takes a long time to recover our mail. We had two late payments since moving to Yuma and not receiving our mail which has never happened in prior years living elsewhere. Why can the USPS do whatever they want with people's mail and not be held accountable?

I purchased a cell phone on eBay May 6th. It was en route with USPS May 8th and delivered May 11th by accident to my old address where I moved out of a little over a year ago. Well, I hadn't received my package by May 13th so that’s when I started investigating why I hadn’t received my package yet. I contacted the seller and he told me that it was my fault. My address was wrong and I know I had realized I had not updated my eBay. But the post office had stopped forwarding on my mail from that address and the first time I called them, they told me they would look for it and talk to the carrier and get back to me. They didn't, so 2 days later I called them. Still they had not talked to the carrier but they said he was now on vacation during the time of my delivery and they would talk to the temporary delivery person and get back to me. They did not. They said the regular deliveryman to that address would be back on Tuesday so to call in the afternoon.

Well, by Monday I was fed up with the crap. I went to my local post office and the guy there gave me a # to call the Rio Grande District. So I called them and they found out that the seller insured my package and they would investigate more and get back to me. Well, that was like a week ago and they still have not gotten back to me. During the last week, I called the post office in San Antonio and this time got a supervisor and he told me that the regular deliveryman won't be back now till after Memorial day. That flipped my lid. I’m beyond livid now. I purchased that phone over 3 weeks ago and still have yet to receive it and I can't leave feedback on the person I bought it from since I haven't received it. I bought this phone because my phone isn’t working and this phone is supposed to be for my business. I can't make business calls really until I receive this new phone so this isn't just affecting me, it is affecting my business, which is making me very unhappy.

I don't know what to do, but last time I talked to the post office, they told me they believe the delivery person set the package on the doorstep of my old apartment and that to me is ridiculous since that apartment I dealt with everything from theft, to someone trying to break in at 2 a.m. I doubt I’m ever gonna receive my phone and now I’m out $100. I’m broke and that was a big dent in my budget. The post office is now blaming me and refuses to do any further investigation or refund me for my purchase. I don't think I’m gonna be doing any of my eBay deliveries through them again due to the bad customer relations they have shown me in the last month.

I won an eBay auction for an out-of-print book. The seller forwarded me the tracking information. The package was delivered to my post office at 3:23 am on May 18, 2009, which means I should have received it no later than Wednesday, May 20th. I have not received it. I went to the post office with the tracking info, where a man named Aldo looked around and said it wasn't in the building. He took my contact information as well as the tracking info I had printed. He said he would speak with my mail carrier and call me back the same day. He did not call.

I returned to the post office yesterday and spoke with Aldo again. He said he gave the information to the carrier who hasn't got back with him. He went on to use having 40 carriers to supervise as an excuse for not calling me back. The seller did not require insurance, so he can't file a claim; but the issue for me is that I can't reorder the item I won because it's a rare, out-of-print book. I would like an investigation into what happened. If the carrier delivered it to the wrong address, I’d like some explanation for how an item addressed to me never arrived at my residence.

I am not out a lot of money for the item, just $19.99. However, it's not the money as much as the loss of the book that is causing me this heartache. I may never get another chance to acquire this book for so little money. Most of the time, when it comes up on eBay, it goes for a lot more. Further, this is the second time in less than two months that the USPS has mishandled a package sent to me. The previous time, all I received of a package from a friend in Germany was the address label, as the post office destroyed the contents.

I live in an apartment building that has no security gate, door, whatever so delivery should never be a problem. But for some reason, USPS just fails. I have had two packages shipped to me by USPS. Both of these packages had to be picked up at their office because they failed to deliver me the package. Normally, this would be fine other than the fact that I was home, sitting 20 feet from the door both times these packages were delivered. No knock, just failure to deliver notices left on my door. One was found at 4:10PM, after my roommates got home from work/class. I had been home since 3. The failure to deliver notice was left at 4. I did not leave the room I was in (I can see the front door from where I sat).

Seriously, it takes less effort for them to knock on the door than it should to fill those notices out. The people that work at the post office in my area are complete **. Maybe because it is part of the federal building so they think they are high and mighty government workers. They complain when I come to complain about their poor excuse for a delivery person. I know this is petty and other people have much worse problems, but little unnecessary troubles like these can really stack up when it becomes a regular occurrence. I despise everything about USPS in Los Angeles.

I was sending it to my Godmother who is 71 and lives in NY. I went to the post office on May 22 to inquire about what could have happened. I was given a slip of paper that read "Mail Loss Riffling Call 1-800-ASK-USPS WWW.USPS.COM/POSTALINSPECTORS". I called and the clerk asked some questions; the address, etc. When she checked, she told me that the address didn't exist. My Godmother has lived there for a very long time, and I just recently sent a Mother's Day card that she received. The clerk then took my phone number and said someone would call back, in which I was called back but was told if it wasn't certified, there was nothing that could be done.

I went back to the post office after work, and a clerk looked but did not find anything. She told me if it needed more postage the recipient would get a notice to pay for it, which has not happened. If I'd known I couldn't trust the post office to deliver the letter, I would have never mailed it. The website doesn't do any good either.

I called this morning to tell the postman's boss about the ongoing problem with our postman (John,) and had hoped to speak with Dave Smith, the former boss.
He's no longer there, and instead we have a new guy in charge (Jaime.) My neighbors and I are having problems with our postman not delivering the mail to the correct mail box again. This has been ongoing and intermittent ever since this post man was assigned to our neighborhood. His last boss would make him deliver the mail right, and make him put the mail inside the mail slot. The new boss (Jaime,) states he will not make our postman put the mail inside the box where it is secure. He claims he don't have to. When he doesn't put the mail inside the slot, the mail is open to wind, rain, snow, and possible theft. Jaime was very rude and told me to complain to the consumer affairs, because they would not make him, make our postman deliver the mail correctly. Our neighbors, as well as our house has had an ongoing problem with this postman for years now. He will straighten out for a little while and then he goes back to his haphazard way of delivering mail to the wrong numbers and even the wrong street! He is so derelict in his duty, and now he has a boss who stands behind him. We, in this neighborhood will not put up with this without going to the NEWS! We threatened to go to the news with this story the last time he did this. It took over two years for him to straighten up and deliver the mail correctly. His last boss gave him a big red sign to carry with him to remind him of how to deliver the mail. This new boss says "he will not make him deliver the mail inside the box." He told me, "he don't have to put the mail inside the box." Well, it makes what would be a secure mail box, very unsecured. I have picked mail up off the ground before when he goes through this. Also, our post man did not deliver mail on Saturday, May 16, and did not deliver yesterday, Wednesday, May 20. I waited all day to see him in person to ask him to please be more careful with our mail. I wrote him a note last week and asked him to be more careful about where he puts the mail, because we (in this neighborhood,) very often get the wrong mail. Sometimes getting several pieces belonging to others on this street and on MOATS ST. At times, we get each others mail, but not our own. This has to be taken care of!!! BUT---his boss says he don't have to do his job correctly. We will wind up going to the newspaper or television stations to get help. I don't believe we can get help with his new boss, JAIME. He has an attitude and was unwilling to help me today, but smarted off that John didn't have to do it correctly. I am appalled at the lack of service of this post office. I will not rest until something is done about this matter and our post man!!! He's been doing this too long now. A FIVE year-old can differentiate between house numbers and street names. But this veteran post man can do as he pleases and show up whenever he wants. Or just take the day off if he wants. Something needs to be done about this!!! I will gather with my neighbors this weekend and we will decide our next course of action.

I purchased the rolls at the Fairless Hills branch. When I got home and realized the mistake I went to the Morrisville branch, as it's closer to my home, to exchange them for the $.59's that I needed. After waiting in line for 15 minutes, they refused to do the exchange (even though the rolls were not opened or even touched). This was the week before the rate hike. I told them that I have done this before a couple of times at Fairless Hills branch with no problem whatsoever and what was the problem. They told me it was totally against their policy and if I wanted to exchange these I would have to drive all the way back to the Fairless Hills branch but if they did it for me they were breaching the Post Office Policy. OR the other option he gave me was to purchase an additional 900 $.17 stamps, which would have meant that I would have had to do double work in affixing all of that postage, not to mention it would have looked unprofessional on the brochure. I asked to see the Postmaster and was told a Supervisor would see me. After waiting another 10 minutes I left. The clerk was rude and obnoxious. I did drive back to the Fairless Hills branch and was happily given my exchange with no problem. Furthermore they showed me the EXCHANGE button on their computer and said I was rightfully entitled to the exchange. The next day I called the Morrisville postmaster and insisted he see me. He did and he backed his clerk and told me it was the post office policy NOT to do exchanges or refunds of any kind and that Fairless Hills was wrong to be doing it. I asked him why then, do you have an exchange button on your system? He said he did not know. While he was very nice and not rude at all like the clerk, he held steadfast in his decision. The following day I went back to Fairless Hills and was handed a copy of a page out of the post office policy manual (updated 4-6-09!!) Postage Payment Methods: Refunds and Exchanges Article 9.1.5 which clearly states I was entitled to the exchange. The hassle that Morrisville put me through and my time wasted is not right. They obviously don't know what they are doing from the Postmaster on down.

She went to look for it and couldn't find it. She gave me a phone number to call and they gave me another phone number to call. This was another post office who told me my package wasn't there and that my package was probably sent back. That was this started in January/February 2009 and now it is May 2009 and the package wasn't sent back and it is not at the post office(even though the tracking site still says it is) - my guess is that a postal worker took it home with them.

Due to physical limitations, I changed my mailing address from a post office box to a street address with a mailbox located in front of my home for easier access. Prior to installing the mailbox, I called the post office and inquired as to what I needed to do and was told "nothing special, just call and let us know when the mailbox has been installed". After the mailbox had been put in, I called the post office to let them know, was told to speak to the carrier and was told by her that I put the mailbox in the wrong place. I placed it in front of my home and the post office wanted it placed at the end of my road, which is about 2 blocks away. When I asked why I had to do that considering that three of my neighbors had mailboxes in front of their homes and that I also had physical limitations, she told me to talk to the postmaster, so I left a message for him to call me. He never returned my call, I finally called back and was able to speak to him. My postmaster is named Mr. Ron Steedly. I explained to him the reason for changing from a post office box to home delivery and he told me he would have to ride by my home and see if the carrier would be able to make home delivery and would call me back, I also told him about my disability and if I couldn't have delivery in front of my house, to please send a form for me to submit to my doctor and he said we might not have to worry about that, he would call me back. He never called me back, I waited a week and called, he wasn't there, I left a message for him to call me. He never called. This routine went on for 13 phone calls. Finally, I caught him at work and spoke to him, he didn't even remember our initial conversation. I repeated everything that we had spoke about earlier and he said that he would get on it. Two weeks later and 6 calls from me, he still hadn't called me back. I started this whole mailbox process on April 1, 2009. On May 1 and 4, 2009, I called for Mr. Steedly eight different times because I had a doctor appointment on May 5 and if Mr. Steedly needed something from the doctor, I would be able to request it during my visit. I never heard from him. I called again after my appointment on May 5 and was able to speak to him; he told me that he had been able to ride by my address, but that he was not able to approve my request, because if he did, it would open up a "can of worms" and everyone that lives on my street would want to move their mailbox to a spot in front of their house. When I informed him that three of my neighboring properties had mailboxes in front of them, his response was "really"? I then asked him if he really rode down my street, because if he had, why didn't see the other mailboxes, he then wanted to know then if the property owners also had boxes located at the end of the road. Don't you think this would be information the post office already had? The other people only have mailboxes located at their property, not any of them have boxes at the end of the road. While all of these homes are either rentals or they are empty and are not having mail delivered at the current time, if someone were to move in, would they be told they couldn't use the mailbox? Mr. Steedly said no, they would be able to have mail delivered. Well, that sounds like discrimination to me. If they can have a mailbox and without any physical limitation, why can't I have one? Mr. Steedly then told me that if I would get a letter from my doctor he would approve delivery. I then specifically asked if that meant that my mail would be delivered or held at the post office until I got the letter for him and he said "no, my mail would start being delivered to my new address tomorrow", that would have been May 5, 2009. In the meantime, I ordered stamps online 5/9 and used my new address for delivery (this means no forwarding is involved). When I received my confirmation of delivery email from the USPS informing me that my order had been delivered to the post office on 5/14, at 5:11 am, but I still had not received any mail in my mailbox, I started to worry thay my mail was being held. The next afternoon, I still had not received my package, so I called and spoke with a postal employee named Dee, she said she couldn't locate them, I asked to speak to the postmaster and was told he wasn't there. I called back a short time later and finally spoke to Mr. Steedly and he assured me that my mail was not being held and although he couldn't locate my package, he would speak to the carrier on Monday and have her call me. On Monday, 5/18, I called the carrier, but she wasn't in and had a sub working in her place, the sub said he didn't have the package and to call back on Tuesday, 5/19. I called today, 5/19/09, the carrier informed me that yes, my mail was being held, and no, the postmaster had not said anything to her about my mail being delivered, she then transferred me to her supervisor, Jonathan, he told me I would have to get a letter from the doctor, which I explained I had requested (2 wks ago), it could have been requested earlier if the postmaster had followed through and told me originally what I needed to know. Jonathan, said that he would have my mail delivered today, but only today. He also said that he didn't know anything about my situation and he would speak to the postmaster and call me back.
I have no idea what is going on at the post office! While I haven't been treated rude, I just cannot seem to get any answers. I am now speaking to three different people that all work together, but apparently do not speak to each other and they are telling me three different stories. Again, three of my neighbors have mailboxes, even though they are not being used at the moment, they could be used in the future. I feel I am being discriminated against. As I am writing this, my mail is being delivered, the carrier even blew the horn to let me know it was there. But I don't know when I will get it again. Does this mean my bills could possibly be late? Late fees? Ruining my credit? All because of miscommunication??? If this is how my tax dollars work, I am very disappointed, not to mention frustrated!!

Short of the story, I ended up sending the letter certified, asked her two times if she wanted to know the value of the packet and she kept telling me no, not the way I'm sending it. I still told her the value to make sure she put it down. She said it would be there in two to three days. It never arrived and now I found out it wasn't insured. I’m more than livid! I have a certified letter from my co-worker stating that she heard me more than once ask to make sure I had insurance and it would get there in two to three days! I asked for insurance and left thinking I had insurance. Also, I went to the post office this morning, 5-18-09, and was treated like crap again. I was informed that the way it was sent, it could take up to 20 days. I was so misled by this person. I have been calling and trying to trace my letters all last week and when I went the post office this morning, I was treated with the same unprofessionalism and downright rudeness as the time before.

I would strongly suggest someone look into this! I am going to continue to pursue this. I must find my letter. It has a value of $160 and I need it back. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get concerning this matter. I also need to know what steps I can take to get this situation resolved. Simply saying my letter was not insured is not the answer. What legal rights do I pursue? I will have no choice but to continue to resolve this matter. I did not misunderstand and neither did my co-worker. We left in good faith thinking I have sent the item insured and it would arrive no later than 3 days! Please contact me and let me know what I need to do next. I appreciate your time and effort in helping me resolve this unfortunate situation.

By mistake the Post Office changed my mail and her mail over to the new address 1174 E. 9th Street Eddystone, PA 19022. I called the Crum Lynne Post Office and let them know the issue and they referred me to Mary Jo at the Chester, PA Post Office. Mary Jo checked the computer and verified that the address change in the computer was checked off indeed as individual only for Lisa. I come to find out at a later date that it was the mailer carriers that were changing all of my mail over to Lisa. They thought "Lisa" was Elizabeth. But, in reality they are two different people. Lisa M. Loizos & Elizabeth A. Loizos. I am Elizabeth A. Loizos.
For the 4th time today, my cell phone company AT&T Wireless sent me a text message stating that my was address was changed in their system and if this address change was completed in error, please contact them. I just called them. They said they are receiving this information from a computer generated report from the United States Postal Service. I hung up with AT&T and called the USPS 800 # and spoke to a customer service representative. The representative said no such report is generated since home addresses are a privacy issue. I called back AT&T and let them know and they once again confirmed that they are receiving a change of address from a USPS computer generated report.

I sent a package to my sister, who lives overseas, for her and her daughter's birthday and to her son. The package included clothing from good quality brands like Ralph Lauren. I also sent 14K gold heart pendant, which has diamonds on the sides. I sent it on April 8 for first class mail. They told me that it will reach within 10 days. I talked to my sister. She never received the package even now, which is May 13, more than a month. I went to the postal office with my receipt and they told me to call 1-800 number. I called the number and it was a computer. I never was able to talk to a real person. Also, confirmation tracking number only showed that the package was accepted that day.

I also tried to track down from my sister's side and they did not receive the package in Istanbul. So I thought somebody saw what is in the package during the scanning and the package never left the La Crosse, but somebody in the postal service stole it. That is my suspicion. I am hoping one day that person will wear the pendant and I will see it. Then I will open a lawsuit against the person and the USPS. Of course, this is a dream. We say you drink cold water after something like this happens. Because it is hard to prove and catch the person. But I believe in karma. Whoever stole the package is going to lose 1,000 times more valuable things than I lost.

I sent these things as a gift to my sister and her children to receive a gift from their aunt. But somebody saw this as an opportunity to steal from someone because I guess they know that consumer can't do a lot - because the lady I talked to told me that we can't do anything.

On January 14th, I attempted to ship a mobile phone back to my carrier (T-Mobile). After being processed in Bethpage, the package has disappeared. I sent it priority with delivery confirmation as I have many times before. I contacted the USPS and a claim was supposedly opened. However, I have heard nothing from them and the package still hasn't been delivered. Since I didn't insure the package, according to them I have no real recourse and I should just wait because the package is on its way. Due to this package being lost, my mobile service has been cut off. I am unable to pay the cost of the lost item and don't feel I should have to since I can prove with their own records that the package is in the possession of the USPS as of January 14. As a result, I am now facing having a mark placed on my credit because of the lost phone, in addition to my service being suspended.

I went back to her on May 4th put the box on the counter and went to check my mail. There was a slip for me to pay my box for either six months or a year. We started talking about how the prices are going up, post office in Monticello cut ther hours, food pantries and just ecomies how hard it is. So I told her I think I will do the year on the box since I was only paying 10.80 for the shipping I thought that was cheap. She said ok printed me up my bill told me to hold on to the receipt I told her have a great day and left. She NEVER mentioned insurance to me. I work for Central Diesel, Inc and we use the USPS bulk mailing system. We have been using this since Sept 2008. Everytime we take the mail to them, there is another issue about how it is boxed or what we pay or how it is labeled. Talking to a manager or supervisor has not come close to helping. EVERYTIME there is a problem and they are rude and nasty in the bulk department. We paid $180.00 for a permit number. And we pay .21 for each piece of mail. Then they make us pay and additionl amount when we take the trays to them. That amount can range from $50 to $101. We don't have any issues with doing our part so we can get the bulk discount. However, we do have issues with the fact that the procedures change EVERYTIME we take our mail to them; depending on who happens to be accepting it at the time. We cannot afford to have 2-3 people over there trying to get this straight because they cannot stick with what they tell us. I am not going to continue to put up with this. If I have to, I will go to the news media. They wanted us to take a class teaching how to do the mailings. Why would we even think about doing that? Each person has their own way of collecting our mail over there. So if they don't agree with the teacher, we are still back to square one. We are mailing flyers. This should not be this difficult.

I was staying in Florida for a while but needed to return to Colorado. I sent 5 extremely large boxes via parcel post on March 24, 2009. I paid extra because they were so large. On March 27, 2009, I sent 5 more boxes to Colorado. Once again, these were brand new extra large U-Haul Boxes. All of the boxes arrived except for the last 2 boxes that I sent out. They left the same day as the 3 other boxes, but they never arrived.

That just does not make sense to me. I asked the postal workers if I needed to get insurance on the boxes, and I was informed that the boxes were so large that only an idiot could lose them! Well, they were indeed lost or stolen. Those last 2 boxes contained basically my everyday needs - my clothes as well as my daughter's that were mostly new, all the software for my laptop, all my work clothes, my daughter’s learning games and video game systems, our shoes, and important papers and documents. Basically, we lost a lot of things that were irreplaceable and important to me.

No one knows what happened to the boxes, and why they did not come with the rest of the boxes; or if they are indeed lost. I keep getting the run around and no one returns my calls. Then they yell at you when you do reach someone because it is not their responsibility. The last person I spoke to swore they did not have any black female workers in their location, but I know for a fact that the last person who accepted my last 2 boxes was a black female worker!

I am shocked that they send mail to a recovery center then auction it off! What about people as myself who are searching for their belongings? I am just so lost and confused on what to do. No one realizes or cares how much this affects my life. I used to work for customer service for USPS almost 5 years ago. They are currently hiring. I quit because I was pregnant at the time. I have since tried to reapply because they are now hiring, but oddly, I am not eligible to even submit an application because they are not accepting applications from previous employees.

I feel like this is serious discrimination and there’s a complete disregard for your customers. I paid a lot of money to ship those boxes, and they will not even check to see if they are still at the post office, in transit, or at the recovery center. Nothing. There has to be a better way to make a complaint or be reimbursed. Play the video back at the post office or something because this is not a believable situation. I am disgusted with the postal service and hate that I have to utilize its services.

My local postal carrier has repeatedly lost or, more likely, misdelivered my mail. I don't know if the route carrier changed but my problems started toward the end of 2008 when I started having troubles with missing Netflix deliveries. This happened three times in a row and I called the local post office but nothing improved and eventually I had to cancel my Netflix subscription. I couldn't continue paying when the Postal Service couldn't get them to me. Several weeks after I cancelled, one of the DVDs showed up in my mailbox then another month or so later another one showed up. Also, someone left one of them lying on my doormat. Apparently they had all been accounted for at that time though it didn’t much matter at that point.

Other than Netflix, I really didn’t use the postal service for much of anything I care about up until I lost my job and started receiving unemployment checks via mail. This latest incident involves returning from a trip expecting to find my check in the mailbox but instead finding four messages on my answering machine from a person stating he had received my check in his mail and he was trying to get it back to me (Rodney @ **). I have returned his call twice but still haven't spoken with him or got my check. Maybe he's out of town now. Everyone makes a mistake from time to time but the pattern here is chronic. I don’t care a bit if I ever received 3rd class mail and almost all of my financial matters are handled by more reliable means. Unfortunately, I can’t have my unemployment checks direct deposited and I am at the mercy of the postal system.

If the carrier is incapable of doing the job, then put them on some less difficult task and hire me. I really don’t want to do the job, but I assure you I could do better than this. When it was just Netflix, I could just cancel and circumvent the problem but now that it is a money issue, I will be relentless in getting this resolved. What do I want at this point? I want the problem at the post office resolved and my mail delivered and not lost. I want my check out there, which was misdelivered in Rodney’s hands. Perhaps the post office can track him down, retrieve the misdelivered check, and get it to me. Other than that, a written explanation or at least a phone call would be appreciated. Thank you.

I called and talked to Customer Service on my break at work. They did not offer any help, just told me the status that it had left Alabama and that was all the information they had on it, that it may be still on the truck or arrived but just not put in the system yet.

I told her I knew it hadn't arrived yet. She told me to check back later. I waited until I got home and checked on my computer and no new information was available so I called customer service at 800-275-8777 and the woman I talked to gave me a number to call which she said was for consumer affairs so I could file a complaint. When I got off the phone with her, I called the number she gave me and it was for a law firm in Birmingham, AL. So I called the 800-275-8777 number back and talked to another woman. I explained to her the situation and told her the number I was just given for consumer affairs was the wrong number and I wanted to right number so I could call and make a complaint. She informed me that I was not allowed to call them yet and would not give me the phone number after I asked her many times. She said I had to give it 24 hours after it was supposed to arrive before I was allowed to make a complaint.

I told her I had my receipt and it was guaranteed to be there by noon today and was not there still at this time of day which was 4:45 pm. I told her they should not tell people it will be there at a certain time and then charge a person for it when they can't make it happen. I also informed her that it could cost me $200 since it wasn't there. She told me, "Well, you can take your receipt to the post office and fill out a form and receive a refund." $15.20 is not $200. So I don't know how that was supposed to ease my mind. So our call ended with no resolve to my issue and no phone number to consumer affairs and no idea where that document is.

I am writing this out of desperation and frustration with trying to obtain answers about a package I mailed that was never received. I mailed an extremely important package a month ago that my daughter needed for online schooling. It was a laptop computer on loan from the online school program. I made the mistake of not getting insurance on the package, but had mailed several packages recently to the same address and didn't have any problem. I trusted that the United States Post Office would deliver the package. This missing package has caused more problems than you can imagine. My daughter has not been able to properly participate in the online classes, and the stress this has caused me is indescribable.

As I previously mentioned, this is on loan from the online school program which means that I would be responsible for paying for it if it isn't returned. I am a single mom and I cannot afford to pay for its replacement. I have filed a report that it is missing, and have been trying to get answers as to where this package might be, but without success. I have made numerous calls (detailed below). I tried to get a phone number for the Atlanta mail recovery office, but nobody seems to have this phone number. It is my hope that I can find someone to actually care about this matter enough to try to locate this package. I can't stress enough how important this is, and how appreciative I would be to retrieve this package. I realize that I should have purchased insurance, but I did pay to mail the package and I trusted that it would be delivered. I am not asking for compensation. I am asking for someone to please find it.

I mailed the package on March 25, 2009 at the Indianola Post office 15051 with Clerk **. It was addressed to my daughter, Allie of ** Kittrell, NC 27544. It was a brand new Dell Laptop with accessories including a headset. It was in a Dell box which I covered with brown paper Giant Eagle bags. It weighed 12 lbs 6.4 ozs. It cost $13.82 to mail it parcel post which I paid for with my visa card. The return address on the label is Leslie ** of ** Gibsonia, PA 15044. I called 1-800-ask-usps on April 9, 2009 and spoke to a supervisor to report that it has never been delivered and she said she reported it to the Pittsburgh Consumer Affairs office.

Debbie and her supervisor Elizabeth ** said they both emailed the Atlanta Mail Recovery Center through their intranet, but they have not heard anything back from Atlanta and nor have I. No one is calling me back. I have called Debbie and her supervisor Elizabeth ** at ** several times over the past month and all they tell me is that they are sorry and there's nothing more they can do. I need this laptop back. It belongs to PA Learners Online Charter School and it needs to be returned to them. Someone needs to care enough to find this laptop for me.

I would greatly appreciate any help in retrieving this computer. Thank you in advance for your assistance and consideration in this matter. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible since everyday without it is affecting my daughter's schoolwork. If you require any further information, you may contact me at **. Thank you kindly.

Today, April 23, 2009, my friend and I went to the post office to ask if the gift box was sent or not. The supervisor answered that he can't check because my friend didn't buy the insurance (the insurance paper has the tracking number). So I asked the supervisor that if people send some boxes without buying insurance, employees working at the post office can throw away or steal them because they know those boxes have no insurance (no insurance paper on the box). He replied that he has no responsibility for that.

After waiting in line for over 15 min., I finally got to the window. I asked the clerk for 5 Priority stamps and paid for the transaction with a credit card. Since I had been there such a long time, I left in a hurry, without looking closely at the receipt (my mistake). When I got home, I looked at the stamp and saw it was for $17.50. I looked at it several times, even with a magnifying glass. Then I read my receipt and confirmed that the clerk had sold me 5 stamps for $17.50, so I ran to the post office and requested that the error be straightened out and an exchange of postage be made.

The clerk insisted that I had ordered 5 Express Mail stamps. I told him I said Priority stamps, and showed him the envelopes I still had in my hand, which had giant blue letters saying Priority Mail. He said, "Read the receipt, it says all sales are final." I insisted, "Even if you made the mistake?" He said ... I demanded to see the manager. Four min. later, a shoddy woman who looked more like a warehouse employee than a manager came up to the window. I explained the problem, and she merely looked at me, and pointed to the receipt and said ... I asked to at least be able to exchange them for regular stamps. She only replied ...

Anyway, we went back and forth for several minutes, until our tempers rose to screaming levels. I was then escorted out of the Post Office, filled with anger, and disappointment, and with a charge of $87.50 for stamps useless for my needs, as they are unbreakable. I went to another post office, and spoke with a manager, and she said, "They should have been able to exchange them for you. I can't do it because it confuses our inventory system, but they should be able to do it ..."

It is extremely disappointing that a business transaction is treated as though we were dealing with a communist, socialist governmental office, where citizens have absolutely no rights, no privileges, in such an unforgiving manner. Maybe I did make a mistake and did in error ask for Express Mail stamps instead of Priority Mail stamps. How can they be immune to complaints? Why is it that they are able to mistreat and abuse customers and yet go unpunished and untouched?

One cannot even speak with a manager or a supervisor. They do not give telephone numbers anymore, and if anyone tries to use their 800 number, all one can hear is a silly & useless recording that leads nowhere. Please help. What do I do with these stamps? Why is there no recourse? My credit card company will not do anything because I still have the "merchandise in my possession ..." Is there any help out there?

Starting sometime in March, our mail was being returned to sender, stating that it lacked the correct apartment number. We have lived here since 1989 and the carriers know we are here, but they’re returning our mail nevertheless. In the last month we have had calls from our mortgage company, credit card companies, and some of our utilities, inquiring if we have moved. Uh no, we haven’t moved, but we're no longer recognized by the Post Office. After these notifications we had to scramble, wondering what other bills we've not received because they've been returned and it’s pretty impossible.

You give a company your address and apartment number and if they get the apartment number wrong, but you get your bills for years even so and then all of a sudden the Post Office decides they’re going to stop this practice. It’s frustrating and in these economically woeful times, incredibly stressful. I received a bill the other day from Con Edison for $622.00 and was shocked to see a bill this high, until I realized that I hadn't paid the previous bill. And why hadn't it been paid? Because we never received it; it was obviously returned and yes, after looking at the bill, I saw that the apartment number had been reversed by someone with apparent dyslexia.

So now I have this massive bill, which I wouldn't have had if I’d gotten last month’s bill. Can you see my concern here? Strangely enough, I get every unsolicited piece of junk mail and all magazines, whether they have the correct apartment number or none at all. Can something be done about this? And the Post Office is crying for more money, give me a break! The mail system needs to be privatized. Many thanks.

He was very rude and said that they don't hold mail for a vacant house even after I explained that I filled out the yellow card and my mail was indeed on hold. I was up there the previous day checking on it. He abruptly put the phone down and came back to the line very nasty and said, "There ain't no mail here for you." I knew I had something because the guy the day before said I did but it wasn't what I was looking for so I left it. They said if I picked it up, it would release the hold so I left it.

However, on the phone, Mr. ** told me it wasn't his problem about my house getting broke in; they have procedures and policies to follow and I was lying so it turned into a screaming match and I asked to speak with the manager who I did talk to, Mrs. Jones. She told me that she was sorry about him and that she has had complaints about his insensitivity. This was on 4/16/09. I called back on 4/18 to check and again I got him. It was the same thing this time; he was rude again and he told me that he wasn't going to check my mail to see if I had any and to put in a change of address knowing I have no address to change because I have not yet moved. He refused to put someone else on. He said he was the only one there. I told him that he does not need to be in Customer Service and hung up.

I then went to the post office. The lady at the window helped me and she went and got my mail which was there. When she went back there, I heard him yell. I already talked to that lady on the phone but he wouldn't come up front and the other customers in the lobby heard him too.

I am a tad ticked off on this date. After fighting with the postmaster at the district office consumer affairs office, the post office is still refusing to deliver mail to the group home where my daughter is currently living since mid-January 2009. I applied for a hardship for my daughter and was denied for this reason for Kristin from the time she was born until March - Sept 2008 where she lived in Des Moines, IA. She came back home from September 2008 until mid-January 2009. The rest of the time she lived in a small farming rural area town with approximately 98 families.

During this time, she learned to ride a 3-wheeler bike supervised at the church parking lot in Linden, IA. This was a safe environment for her. We have no grocery store, no street lights for traffic. We contract out the police department through another nearby town. Kristin suffers from Severe to Profound Mental Retardation, Epilepsy and Borderline Cerebral Palsy. She was not able to ride a bike until a few years ago, after a lifetime of therapy, supervision and a lot of hard work to teach her to ride an adult size 3-wheeler bike.

The postmaster spoke to a 3rd party regarding Kristin's capability, ignoring the doctor's orders that she cannot get her mail curbside, or collect it independently and she will never be able to. Now that she lives in a new town with unfamiliar territory, what was once a safe environment is no longer existing. Where she lives now is not a safe haven where she can enjoy one of the little things she used to be able to do independently. The postmaster has never met my daughter and took the word of a 3rd party. They denied my request for a hardship based on half knowledge and half facts.

I am seeking outside legal assistance to start a discrimination suit against the postmaster personally in Adel and against the United States Postal Service itself. They have never met my daughter and/or asked me about her capabilities. If anyone has any additional information or knows of a good attorney, please contact me. I also find it appalling that the post office would share the information with a person who is not the guardian, conservator or relation.

I insured the item for $2,000. I had an appraisal made when the pendant was fabricated (it was valued at $2,900 at that time, 2005). I sent this in as proof of value along with a receipt of $500, in which I paid for the silver mounting the family heirlooms where placed. I received a check for $508 only and not the full $2,000. The USPS stated that according to their guidelines set up by the USP Service Headquarters, I wouldn't receive any more money. Ridiculous! I couldn't get a receipt since my father purchased the diamonds in the late 60's. How can they sell insurance to people legally and then not pay out? Can you offer some words of wisdom? Consequences: I am out the remaining $1,500, time and stress. It's bad enough they lost an irreplaceable item, but to have to go through these means to get the rest of the insurance money is unbelievable!

On January 3, 2009, I was driving past the post office when a postal truck came out of the office to begin his run and struck my vehicle. He claimed fault but at the time, I did not have insurance on my car because I was laid off and my insurance lapsed. It has been a nightmare dealing with the postal service on my own. I was told they would not pay for my rent a car. They would pay only the amount of time for the car to be repaired, which was 14 days. I, thinking I would be reimbursed, rented a car on my own for the amount of time I was without a car because I had to look for work. I paid a lot of money out of pocket and they treated me so bad like I was the one to hit them.

This has left me in financial ruins now. I'm a single mother and I am about to lose my home. Please, it is only right that they pay me what they owe me. I've prayed over this. I have been walking since and catching the bus, which is something I have never had to do before. Please help me. Thank you.

During the holiday season for 4 months at the end of 2008, the post office selectively and indiscriminately decided not to deliver certain pieces of mail to our address, where we have lived for 32 years. If the omitted mail had been junk mail, that would have been fine. But they did not deliver bills, billing statements, packages and payments. I had one gas card bill for a card I barely use which had a $30 balance. The bill never arrived and since I hardly use the card, I had no idea that I was carrying an unpaid balance. I know a lot of companies send 0 balance bills out but with everyone going green, we honestly thought they might have gone green and reduced unnecessary mailings as well. (Cut to me trying to use my Visa and being declined and told to contact Experian for the answer.)

I found my $30 unpaid bill had now ballooned to a $90 bill with penalties and I had been reported as a delinquent credit risk. My credit took a hit. My credit agencies treated me as if I was a criminal, despite 23 years of continuous, timely, paying service to them. And when I filed a complaint at the post office, I was told it could not possibly be their fault as I must have moved or filed a change of address report. So my credit got slammed, I got blamed, and no one whose fault it really is (the Post Office) will be accountable. We now call when we don't receive our bills which to this day, we are still not receiving regularly. The moral of this is keep a log of the bills you should be receiving each month and if you don't receive them, call for a copy to be sent to you.

I noticed Anita, the manager, had a tape gun and I asked if I could use two pieces of tape, one for the bottom of the box and one for the top. She said no, that it is her personal tape. She then asked if I was sending the box first class and if so, she'd let me use the tape. I said no, I was not sending it first class. I told her the box contained military books for my daughter who is Marine needed for a promotion as she was going back to Iraq. I offered her $1 for 2 pcs. of tape but Anita, the manager, told me I would have to buy the tape from the display for over $3 a roll. There was a line-up of people waiting and a very nice customer said, "Here, you can use my tape." I felt I was treated rudely. I ordered a bathing suit from Victoria's Secret that cost $187.00, which is pretty expensive for a college student's salary. I had been keeping track of my package on the USPS website through my email. On April 8 at 10AM, it stated that my package was delivered but I did not receive it. The USPS honestly has not been much help in finding the package. So far, they have told me that the route was split that day and the person who they believe may know where the package is off of work until Monday. They told me they had left a message on his answering machine, but if he didn't call back, I would just have to wait. I asked if I would be reimbursed for my lost package if it was due to the driver's own carelessness. I was then told no, unless of course I bought insurance for the package.

I've never encountered a problem ordering or receiving anything I purchased from offline. I also don't know how I would go about purchasing insurance since it was never brought to my attention before. I am quite frustrated over this situation mainly with the way the USPS is handling the ordeal. They tell me someone will give me a call back and then no one does. They seem annoyed when I call back, but they have to understand that if that package is not found, I am out $187.00 for something that I trusted was in good and reliable hands!

We have had mail disappeared sporadically since late July, 2008. We have not received bills, checks, etc. We have logged several complaints with our local post office about this. The first complaint was in July, 2008, then again in August, 2008, another in November/December 2008, another in January, 2009. In January, they did red flag our mailbox which put it on a special watch of some sort for a week or so. About a week after this expired, we started missing mail again. Finally on 2/12/09, I got through to John who proposed they would handle the issue in two ways: 1) he would physically come out to the mailbox (we have a cluster mail boxes in our neighborhood) and verify that our mail was not being mis-slotted and; 2) he would log all mail coming into the post office for one month, we would also keep a log for a month, then we would compare notes. He promised to contact us again in a month to see how things were going.

On 2/13/09, John did come out and check the mail boxes and called my husband at home to confirm this. John asked my husband if anything had been returned to sender and we were called about it - these had never happened. This told us and John that the issue was somewhere between the post office and our mailbox. My husband asked John about the possibility of involving a Postal Inspector. John stated that this was not going to happen as they were busy with other matters. John was supposed to contact us again in mid March so that we could compare the logs. We received no phone call, no notes, nothing. I called back to speak with John on Thursday, 4/2, and was told he was already gone for the day. John called me back on 4/3 to ask what he could help me with.

I reminded him about the issue and the log that we were to review and he stated that it was up to the carrier to keep the log and that he could not be expected to monitor all that came into the post office. He said he would check with the carrier and call me back shortly. He never called back. I called again on Wednesday, 4/8. John said he had forgotten to follow up on this and would speak with our carrier first thing the next morning and call me back. I have decided to pursue the Consumer Affairs route assuming I will not get a satisfactory answer tomorrow morning when/if he calls back.

I started a home business 4 months ago that requires me to visit my local post office and mail packages daily. My fiance was once friends with one of the employees, Tim **, that ended badly and the man seems determined to make our daily shipments as difficult as possible.

Over the last 4 months, we have never once gone through Mr. Tim's line without him pointing out something wrong with our packages. There have been legitimate complaints, certainly, but there have been many more trumped up issues that he takes with us, such as, the quality of my handwriting (I assure you it is quite legible - we now print all labels from the PC), to the size of the envelope (we now use high quality postal approved bubble mailers), to the exact placement of the stamp (we now use postage printed from the USPS site).

Initially, we made errors because we were new. We take all advice from the post office seriously to help expedite our shipments, thus making our customers happy. In the beginning, we tried mailing in heavy duty commercial envelopes (our product is small and weighs less than an ounce) and we were told that wouldn't work because the item was too thick.

So then we changed to an approved mailer and things were fine for a month or so. This cost us money as we have to buy our supplies in large bulk quantities for them to be affordable to a small business like ours. But after about a month, Mr. Tim ** told us the mailers were too thick to be mailed at that rate and we would need to change our methods. So we found larger bubble padded envelopes (High quality Kraft bubble padded mailers #000, fully postal approved) to mail at the First Class Parcel Package rate. This went well for almost 2 months.

Today, when we checked our business PO Box, we found all the packages we shipped yesterday were back in our box with a note from Mr. Tim ** that said the mailers were not thick enough to use the First Class Parcel package rate and we would have to send it Priority Mail (3x as expensive and cost prohibitive to the inexpensive items we sell) to use our USPS label with Delivery Confirmation.

This has become beyond absurd. None of the other employees behave this way and are very friendly. But Mr. Tim ** is the "Trainer" and is quick to comment even from another window if, by chance, we don't get his line. He's very quick with the comment, "It's in the manual. I can show you exactly where it is - don't accept that package." It's humiliating to be treated this way daily in front of everyone in line. There's always a line, of course.

I told her that I never moved and that I've lived in the house for a very long time and that I never moved. She assured me that I was going to receive my mail. Again, I started getting calls now from bill collectors saying that the mail was being returned. I was supposed to get my check from disability and all the checks were returned by the post office. I just had a check returned last week and I needed the money to pay the mortgage.

Because they are returning my mail, I receive my paychecks late. Because of them, I have been paying my bills late because I don't receive my money on time. My boyfriend asked the delivery person yesterday if they are delivering at my house and she was very rude and she said no, that she is not going to deliver at my house. I just wanted to comment on the USPS. I have hauled mail as a contractor's employee for 7 years. I have been in a lot of postal facilities and have some comments. First off, the problems really start with the management. Having met many postal managers, I would say that maybe 2 in every 10 is actually an intelligent, decent, moral human being and the good ones are usually harassed mercilessly by the useless ones. This sets a general negative tone in the whole environment that I can literally feel when I walk in these places. Managers are supposed to be leaders and leadership works from the top down and sets the example for the operation.

Additionally, the civil service exam that postal employees take is way too easy and the favoritism given to veterans and other special groups needs to end. Only the real top scoring people should be considered for hire and then only after they are interviewed and a good feel for their personality is established. Congress is the only one having the authority to make some of these changes. Many USPS managers should simply be fired and fired without any severance as they are mostly just mean, arrogant, ignorant, and completely immoral. Many are truly evil.

I took the notice in and talked to the man working behind the counter, who in turn referred me to the new postmaster. She told me that I would have to pay the fee or my box would be closed - there was no way around it. My so-called mail box is a no fee box due to the fact that I have never received street delivery. When I informed her of this, she stated that I would still have to pay this fee and then wait a year to fill out the no fee box waiver for the following year. Also, she stated that she was new to the office and was sent to fix it.

Apparently it had been mismanaged for years, and that is a quote. So, because they lost my fee waiver papers, and because it was mismanaged for years ... We spoke to a district supervisor. This district supervisor named Stephanie told us that a route-delivery man would drive through the area the next day and would tell her whether we were eligible for street delivery. That was yesterday. Today, we received a phone call that the route delivery man determined that we could get street delivery. So even though we never have, and there is no mail box at the street, apparently the USPS delivery man has determined on this very day that we are now eligible for street delivery and the PO Box that we have had for the last 11 years will now cost us 40 dollars. Thanks so much USPS. I guess I shall follow the rest of the country and start paying my bills online, because I do not agree with the way I have been treated, not to mention the mail that has been lost and stepped on in the Laytonville Post Office all of these years.

I called on April 1st to check the status of my claim and again there is nothing filed. Now I am being told that I didn't get the right paperwork filled out and that I need to call another number. I called that number and it is automated and there is no one to speak to. I just want the money back for the item that I insured. I am tired of getting the runaround by the postal service.
