I mailed over 30 packages in the last 5 days - all expected to arrive for Christmas. Most were sent Priority Mail, which usually takes 2 days. Some packages were sent to close locations (i.e. Nevada, Washington State). I had at least 8 packages that did not arrive. It is like they didn't care to make the extra effort to get the packages to people in time for Christmas. Many of the undelivered packages never even made it out of the place where they were first accepted. This is horrible and it hurt my business. It has gotten worse and worse.

It seems that we've lost about a month's worth of mail which was supposed to be forwarded from our WA State address to a UPS Store address in FL. Many days of mail were erroneously returned to our WA state address, from where it was re-sent to the UPS Store address in FL, in a sort of "endless loop" nightmare, and now it seems to have vanished altogether. All the parties point fingers at the other parties, of course, but according to the UPS Store representatives, the carrier at the Turkey Lake Road USPS office has misdelivered "thousands of pieces of mail," just to that store in the last few weeks. There would seem to be no real solution for the victim of "lost" mail deliveries at the USPS. Whether this is due to dyslexia on the part of the mail personnel and/or carrier, to good old fashioned incompetence, inattention, laziness, "I'm off at 3 pm" syndrome, or "It's somebody else's problem," I have no idea. Based on this experience, there is little justification for trusting that the USPS will deliver our mail properly. A month's mail is gone.

Cambridge, MA post office not delivering mail daily - We've had issues in the past, but we've been noticed on heavy/bad weather days we tend not to get mail. This past holiday week, we've had people locally ask if we got their cards and some we have not. Not getting mail once a month is a thin average for our household, but not getting any mail on December 24th and 26th is hard to fathom. My tax dollars and continually rising stamp costs that pay their salaries do not care how many people are on vacation. My job is just as busy as theirs this time of year and blowing off jobs because vacations and sick days increase my workload will get me a fast track to the unemployment line.
The last time we did not receive mail for almost Friday-Wednesday, after I complained on Thursday morning, our mail box was stuffed Thursday night and Friday with no explanation on why I didn't get any delivery earlier. I was unemployed at the time and the delay almost cost me that period check and could have put my unemployment checks in jeopardy. What makes this worse is that the local post office is at the end of my street, less than 2 blocks away.

The valet service at Community Hospital North mailed me the key fob to my car on December 22nd. The postage was $1.39, so I know it was in the envelope when the postage was put on it (the postage was on a label from a machine). When the envelope arrived at my home, there was a note inside, but the key fob was missing. There was a good size slit and tear at the bottom corner of the envelope, so it either worked its way out of the envelope as it traveled from there to here, or someone removed it. Someone may now have my address and the key fob to my car. Otherwise, I assume it has made its way to a lost and found somewhere. This is an oval key fob for a Nissan with four silver colored buttons on it; the bottom button has a picture of a red horn.

PO Box was closed and items ordered from Nordstrom was supposedly returned though box was paid in full. Items have not been received by Nordstrom's and receiving post office has no record of items returned. I had received one warning to retrieve packages more often. Before this box was closed, I was stranded out of town with weather and ill health and did call the post office to let them know I would be in to retrieve mail at soonest possible moment.

On December 8, 2009, I mailed 2 boxes parcel post to San Diego, California. They were both insured so I have a tracking slip. One box was received on December 14; the other was scanned as leaving Livonia but nothing more and as of December 24th, it still has not reached its destination. I have checked from my post office. The recipients have checked their post office at San Diego and the box seemed to have disappeared. All the Post office personnel can tell us is that "this shouldn't happen". Apparently, the post office has no way to trace packages until you begin the claim process, after 30 days. I would like my box to be found and the post office really needs to upgrade their tracking abilities.

Mail constantly not received, misdelivered to the wrong address or just disappears. Packages sent back without attempt at delivery. Packages damaged on delivery half the time. Medicine sent from the VA seldom arrives or disappears. No one ever answers a phone and no answering machine. Rude people at the front desk. I've lost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in lost business; lost or damaged goods; late fees due to not receiving bills on a timely basis, etc. And it just keeps on happening.

It has been two weeks since we have not gotten our mail, due to illness. I went to the Marina Post Office and they have no mail for us and that after 10 days, they sent it all back! Notice with all the complaints that it's during the holidays, go figure! Now all of our friends and businesses will think we don't live in our current address anymore. It's very frustrating especially during the holidays! We should have rights for our mail, especially the US postal should give us a written notice when they tamper our mail. We can't even trust our US Postal Service! I've lived in apartments where people don't check their mail for weeks and the extended mail is put to the bigger mailbox and they gave us at least 30 days. Now that we live in a house, why can't they do the same?

We have been receiving the wrong mail ever since they built a house on an empty lot 1 1/2 years ago. They gave the new address the same exact address as mine except mine is Terrace and theirs is Street; that is the only difference. We do the right thing and return the mail. They throw mine out or enjoy the products such as the magazines, movies, and personal products we subscribe to. Like I said, this has been happening for 1 1/2 years and every time (this now makes 15 times to date and this time it happened to be on Dec. 23, 2009). I noticed it this time because we have not received our mail-ordered gifts and Christmas cards.
The USPS tells me they will handle it. Well, if they have handled it, this would not continue to happen. This is extremely frustrating, knowing your mail is either being read, used or just thrown away and there is nothing you can do about it. We have gone to the other address and confronted the residents about the situation and have returned their mail several times, in hopes they will reciprocate but, to no avail. All the other party does is slam the door in our face after grabbing their mail from my hands. If there is anything we can do about this matter, we would love hear your input. Thank you so very much.

They lost a Christmas package, couldn't track it and tell you that if you pay for 2-day delivery, they will get it there. Then when they lost it, they tell you it was never guaranteed. The package had Christmas presents for my children and when my parents mailed priority mail, they assumed that meant it would be there in two to three days. Now that they have lost it, they said that is not guaranteed. So that in my opinion is false advertisement.

This was a 14-pound package, approx. 2 feet by 1 foot by 1.5 feet in size. The package was to ship from Deltona to Neptune, NJ. I was told that the package would take 4 to 7 days to ship. I am fed up with the rude postal clerks at the Lyndora, PA Post Office, mainly two women (**). I go there often, and all I want to do is get my packages shipped. Just one example, I had a delivery confirmation sticker on two packages. I needed these to have delivery confirmation so that when I went home, I could email my customers with the numbers. I come home only to find out she never even scanned them! Of course, I wasn't charged either, but I wanted to be charged. Now, I can't email my customers these numbers. So I get on the phone to her and asked why she didn't scan them. Her reply was "Well, these things happen when it gets busy in here. There’s nothing I can do about it now." No apology; nothing. By the way, my husband can verify that we were the only ones in the post office the whole time there; it was not busy at all.
Another time, she tried to charge me over $60.00 to ship a package. I said, "What? No way!" She said it was due to the size and called her manager out (the other rude one) to measure and prove to me how much it was to ship. Well, her manager measured the package the correct way and the package ended up costing $14.00 to ship. That’s more like it! But I got no "I'm sorry, I measured wrongly" or anything like that, just dirty looks because I was the right one. Can anyone tell me where to make official complaints to the US Postal Service for rude employees and/or employees who cannot do their job/s correctly? Any help will be appreciated! Thank you.

Our properly addressed mail is being delivered to other addresses. This is happening at our PO Box downtown (Front Street location) and at our residence, **. Also at the residence location, they don't push the mail all the way through the door slot. Sometimes they just lay our mail on the porch and walk away. This causes to have to contact other people to find out if they mailed their payment to us. Sometimes they have to pay their bank to put a stop payment on their check and issue another one so they won't be late. This could cause identity theft because anyone can pick up your mail when it's left hanging halfway out your mailbox or laying on your porch.

I have been awaiting 5 packages to be delivered from various parts of the United States. It is currently taking more than 10 days (at last count as the packages are still not here!). Two of the packages are shipped at standard rates, not priority. The other packages are shipped at priority rate. The tracking numbers issued are virtually worthless. I fully understand why this government organization is in debt of over 6 billion dollars as they are woefully inept and frankly, could care less when you inquire about obvious delays. The USPS should be relegated to typical envelope mail only and then at your own risk. I am very ashamed of the USPS as it once was an organization of pride and efficiency - 40 years ago! I lost sale to 3 accounts due to shipping delays of the USPS.

From the beginning, I've dealt with a rude mail woman - from delivering us the wrong mail daily to marking it as undeliverable. I reported her, then my mail started coming crushed in my mailbox. Recently, a piece of our jewelry was delivered to the wrong address. When my wife went to the post office to complain, the mailman shrugged his shoulders?! She asked for the postmaster. He then told her twice to call the company. She raised a fuss then told them that she would take their rudeness to Consumer Affairs. Later that day, we saw the postmaster going to a house on an adjacent street retrieve our package and bring it to us. We are complaining about the lack of work ethic and rudeness. We have absolutely no confidence in this post office to be competent. We worry about our mail and if this is some sort of revenge.

Refused a package at my local PO on 12/7, I was assured that I would be able to track the package all the way back to the original sender using the original tracking #. I need to be assured of the return because a $60 refund is contingent. I tracked the package online using the number and saw that the package has been sitting at the Anaheim sort facility since 12/9. I called to inquire as to why it was still sitting and if I could get an estimate of arrival. The 800 operator explained that the number could not be used for tracking and the number is obsolete once the package was originally delivered to me.
I explained that I was looking at the tracking online and saw that in fact the number was still working, but she insisted that I was incorrect and that in any case they had 2-8 days to deliver. I explained that it has already been 11 days and she stated that I wouldn't get another answer from anyone in the PO until at least 14 days and then she hung up. I then called the local PO and spoke to another gentleman that explained that the number would work, but they really only track the express packages (his words) and there was no guarantee that the package would even be scanned again if it was in fact returned to the sender. This is the response I got!

I would like to bring to this forum a situation that shows the waste of money being spent on the lease of a building that is well over a 100 years old. For 40 years, the Postal Service has been paying an ungodly amount of taxpayer money to lease a building that is not kept up - Potholes in the parking lot where semis pull in, sporadic heat in the winter time, no hot water, etc. The safety issues are many and have been brought up many times with little satisfaction. Instead of ensuring that the landlord adheres to maintaining the facility, they let them get away with being cheap. This causes a lot of distress with the employees who have to work in such dire circumstance. Can you imagine how many facilities throughout the country that have similar situations. No wonder, the USPS is losing money.
On another front, the USPS is highly regarded and I'm proud to work for it. But let me tell you, the service doesn't seem to be there like it used to. With cost-cutting measures, including an early retirement program, the service has saved a lot of money. However, when the cuts are plenty and no replacements on hand, service suffers. Long lines at the Post Office are not uncommon. Customers are encouraged to go elsewhere for their mailing needs. We constantly are told to grow revenue, but on the other hand, they are throwing the customer under the bus.

I work at 901 Dove Street, in Newport Beach, California and today we had a different mailman than we usually do. I work in a Law Firm that generates lots of mail, which is time sensitive. As the mailman walked away, I ran outside to ask him to wait. When I finally caught up with him, he said, "My name is not excuse me sir" and after I explained that that was the polite thing to say when you don’t know someone's name he yelled at me and demanded that I bring the mail to his truck. I then told him that that was exactly what I intended to do, and I didn’t understand why he was so upset, as it is his job to take our mail. I asked him his name, which he said was "Leo" and then he said, "You know what? I’m not taking your mail; you can take it yourself."
I find this to be completely inappropriate and such an inconvenience as I had to leave work early to drop off the mail that the mailman refused to take. Please do something about this, as it is imperative that our legal documents be delivered in a timely manner and situations like this can put our attorneys in a legal bind, if the mail is not delivered. I trust that you will resolve this situation.

I own an online business, Advanced Workouts. On December 7, I shipped a package to a customer in Queensbury, NY via USPS first class mail with delivery confirmation #**. On December 10, this package was received by the customer covered in blood! Her local post office included a note stating that her package had come in contact with another package containing a dead bear on its way to the taxidermist; thus all the blood. Needless to say, my customer was freaked out (I have full email correspondence for your reference). The post office claims that they tested the blood to be sure it was safe, yet they refuse to provide a copy of that test. They also refuse to return my calls.
The customer has spoken with Marie ** at the Albany post office (phone 518-452-2314) and later, at length, to her boss Tim ** at 518-817-1258. They both admit their error, yet seem unwilling to provide any sort of necessary compensation. My customer was so distraught over this issue that she immediately threw the disgusting package away, so I reshipped her merchandise at my personal cost. I expect a full refund from the post office for the extra expense I incurred for reshipping the package, along with all the time I had to spend during this busy holiday season to help out my customer and personal stress issues.
I simply cannot believe that the post office would deliver a bloody package. This is a serious health risk since they admit the package was bloody, but can't prove whose blood was on the package or if the blood contained any diseases. This issue is so disturbing I don't know what to do or who to turn to. Can you please, please help? Thank you!

On November 6, 2009, I received a questionnaire from the post office asking what the article was, where was the damage, could it be repaired, etc., which I filled out and mailed back that day. I included a picture of the damage and a copy of the quotation to repair it. I also made a point of mentioning that this was purchased as a Christmas gift for my husband, and that I would appreciate being able to have it repaired in a timely fashion.
After many phone calls to the 1-800-222-1811, I was referred to the "Accounting Help Desk" in St. Louis, MO, 1-866-974-2733 and spoke to David. He advised that the "Claims department" had the paperwork, but it could take up to sixty days for a decision to be made. I told him that I had supplied everything and more, so the claim would be handled efficiently and in a timely fashion. This process has been going on since early September. It is now December 8, and no end is in sight. This was a very expensive guitar, autographed by BB King. All I am asking is for this process to be moved along.
I think three months is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a resolution. The guitar was insured for more than it cost me. I have proven that it was damaged and have provided a quote for the repair. Is there any way someone could contact these people on my behalf and urge them to make a decision asap? I'd like to be able to have the guitar fixed before Christmas, but I am obviously running out of time. Thank you for any help you might be able to offer me.

What is happening is that my magazines are not being delivered. It may sound trivial, but I subscribed to 5 or so publications and they consistently do not arrive in my mailbox. When I spoke with my mail carrier, she said that their policy is, "Every piece, every day." This means that if the magazine did come to the post office, she would naturally deliver it to me - no problem. And that's the end of it. I have made several complaints to the post office online, as well as speaking with a delivery supervisor. All of it to no avail. They say it is my responsibility to find out what's wrong. They can do nothing about it.
The main consequence is the frustration I feel at having to continuously call the publishers and ask for replacement copies of weekly and quarterly magazines. There is also frustration at getting no response from the post office and having to put up with this crap month after month. Here I am doing a job that they should be doing; they should know where the publication goes missing. But they simply do not care at all. Also, I would actually enjoy to read the publications that I am buying and so there is the added bonus of throwing money away and being deprived of the pleasure of reading the magazines, which is what got me into this mess in the first place. I'm so sick of it, I cannot find the words to tell it properly.

This problem of my postman not delivering the mail is still ongoing. Now I am missing a bankcard issued to me by Metcalf Bank on 11/11/2009, via their automated system. They insist I should have received it by now as it only takes 7-10 business days to receive. I've been in contact with Jamie ** and Mark ** regarding this matter and to date, I am getting no help from the postman's boss or the customer service manager, Mark **. Jamie, the postman's boss is supposed to be watching my mail sent and documenting what mail is being received. Mark **, customer service manager, will not even address this issue on most days, although he assured me he took this problem very seriously. He is not addressing this current issue of the bankcard at all.
Jamie (the postman's direct boss) told me from day one that he would not enforce correct delivery by my postman no matter how many letters I write to consumer affairs or others. He has lived up to his promise. My bank is now sending me proof (hope I receive it) that it was issued and sent out on 11/11/09. They suggested I contact law enforcement about this situation. I am not getting any help from anyone at the postal service so I will likely have to do just that, plus expose this to the media and write Washington, DC to get help with this matter. Nobody in this postal service seems to care about my not getting my mail! This has been going on in our neighborhood since this postman started our route. I've made numerous complaints over the years, as have my neighbors.

I have had continuous communication with the vendor and was surprised when the replacement (mailed on 10/06/2009) had not arrived by 11/24/2009. I communicated with the vendor and a replacement was sent, as before, by air mail on 11/26/2009.
I no longer wonder why the USPS is unable to make a profit. The package traveled to Jamaica, NY where it spent a day, then to North Carolina where it spent another two days before being sent on to its final destination of Sacramento, CA. It has yet to arrive. I do not believe it is our local post office and I have related this to the postmaster. I do know for a fact there is a huge problem in Johnstown, PA where our mail goes to be sorted. Recently, our daughter had sent out wedding invitations. Now, when one person gets it and the neighbor across the street does not get the invitation, something is wrong. After much frustration and calling, she had over 25 invitations never received. My family lives in Toledo, Ohio. My mother received hers and a mile away, my one sister lives and never got her invitation. My other sister in Lake Tahoe received hers 10 days after it was mailed, ten days.
After speaking to so many people in our small town, we are not the only ones with this not receiving mail or getting to the destination. I have spoken to the retired postal people and they are aware of the problem but will do nothing about it. First, I have been told by a current postal employee they do not care. They are short handed and will not replace. If mail has to be sorted, they have no one to do it. I personally had the same problem with five payments not being received. I very rarely use the post office anymore due to this problem. Just fix it. They are now aware but have not and do not know how to fix it. Just fix the problem. The money spent on stamps and the invitations to be lost is ludicrous.

Our mail route was changed a year or so ago and we are now on the end of the route. Our mail used to be delivered approx 11:00-11:30 am, and now, it's anywhere from 2:00 to 5:45 pm. I was told by a postal worker that if the mail is not back into the post office by 5:00, the mail will not go out that day. So my issue is that our mail has been delivered late so many times that I know it was not possible for our carrier to be back to the post office in time. When we have a sub on our route, we get our mail usually around 1:00-2:00pm, why is it that the sub can get it there early, but the regular carrier cannot? I have talked to the postal workers on numerous occasions about this and they just kind of blew me off. I had one lady tell me that the sub was wonderful and that she worked so well that she wished she was on full time. I said I wished that also.
Monday, November 23, 2009, I took my mail into the post office because I had some bills that needed to go out and I didn't want to take a chance that they wouldn't go out until tomorrow. I made a comment to the postal clerk about the reason why I brought in my mail and about that time the Rochester Postmaster came around the corner and speaking very loudly said, "None of my carriers have ever been late getting back to this post office," and I said that is not true. She said, "Prove it!" I said I will. She was not nice, didn't try to even find out what the whole problem was or anything; she just went off. I told her to stop talking to me like that and she acted like a very angry lady.
If she is the postmaster, I am scared because if I owned a business and I had someone like her representing that business, my business would not last long. I cannot believe how rude she was. I told her I was going to file a complaint and she said, "You go ahead." I am going to get other people on our block sign a complaint to prove to the post office that the carrier has been late so many times and it is not just a concern of mine. It is a concern of many of my neighbors. I am just shocked that the postmaster of the Rochester Post Office would even treat customers like that. If the route is so big that one person cannot complete the route without using overtime, then I think it is time to add another person to deliver the mail. The post office is talking about deleting one day's delivery now. How are they going to keep up with the amount of mail to deliver after a day of no delivery? There have been times when I did not get a bill on time, so that when I did get it, it was already late.

My husband and I have lived at our residence for over 18 years. During these 18 years, we have had multiple times of not receiving mail that was sent to us, mail we sent is not delivered and every month we receive other people's mail (often several pieces belonging to the the same person). I have filed several complaints with the US Postal Service and nothing has improved. Also since living at our address, we have had one reported case of a postal employee charged with tampering of mail and my mail was held as evidence in charges brought against this person.
We have incurred late charges on bills that were not delivered. We have not received money that was mailed to us. I have not received prescriptions that was ordered and never delivered. We have an extreme problem of receiving any personal mail from family and friends. Payments we send for utilities and services are not delivered resulting in late fees and charges to stop payment on checks. Gifts that friends mail me never arrive. Merchandise that we order often does not arrive.

I find it unreal that my tax dollars are going towards an incompetent, lazy, less than worthless agency known as the United States Postal Service. For the third time in a row, these idiots have misdelivered or "lost" a package. One of these instances involved the physical misdelivery to a California zip code when it was supposed to be delivered to Kentucky, shipped from Connecticut. How do you do that? The other two times, the packages' statuses are stuck on "processed through sorting facility" in another state, with absolutely no updates, and it has been months now. One of these packages shipped and actually came to the destination, but left and ended up in another state and stayed there in their "sorting facility".
Please, I beg of you. Do not ever ship anything through USPS no matter how much their prices save you! Shipping through them is taking a huge chance and they will lose your package. Praise everything that is holy for UPS and FedEx. I am now out about $450.00 (lost packages combined value) and without an expensive birthday present for my girlfriend.

A week later, not knowing the other credit card bills had not gotten to their destination, I mailed a third credit card bill along with my water bill and medical bill. These bills did not make it to their destination as well. I have spoken to the postmaster who really did not resolve my problem and just said they will look into it. They took down my information, but I did have my friend's address handy at the time. They told me to call in later and give it to them and gave me the confirmation number that showed I had submitted a case.
I called them back the next day, gave them the confirmation number, and added my friend's address to the case without any problems. They said they would call back in 48 hours. After more than 48 hours (2 business days) without hearing back from them, I decided to call and see what was going on. I gave them the same confirmation number that I had received and used with success earlier, but they had no record of it. I calmly asked what could have happened for it to disappear from their records. The lady was very rude with an aggressive tone. She repeatedly asked, "Would you like to file a claim? " Even when I was trying to explain what was happening, she kept interrupting, asking if I wanted to file a claim. Then she changed and started repeating, "All I can do for you is file a claim." I asked her how I can be sure that this claim won't just be deleted from the records like my last one. She gave me no answer.
So I did the only thing she would let me, which was open up a new claim. She said they would call back in 48 hours. I won't be holding my breath. I've pretty much given up on ever seeing that package. I guess the moral of the story is that when a company/government offers insurance for extra, it shifts the blame onto the consumer rather than themselves. After all, why didn't you buy the insurance?

Yesterday, I met up with the delivery person, and she said because I didn't get my mail in a week's time, she had to take it to the post office, but she assumed I moved, so placed a note concerning my address saying that I moved/changed address, and for all of my mail to start being returned to the senders. I was told by Robbie who works in the Delivery Department of this Post Office that my mail was stopped on October 2nd, but that was a lie because I have tracking numbers and evidence that mail was still coming to me and that I was still checking my mail afterwards. Not only that, but I have a tracking email confirmation from the US Postal Services about a package that I was supposed to receive and when I was looking for it, it is on the email that it was shipped on October 13, 2009 arrived at the Unit on October 15, 2009, but I still never saw this in my mailbox.
Then I got another email saying that on October 21, 2009 the package was sent back because Addressee was unknown. I have been looking for Military records and transcripts to come through, and I haven't seen any of my mail, as well as gifts from family members because I just graduated with my Master's degree. But I have seen none of this mail because the delivery person said she took it upon herself to make these changes and all of my mail has been sent back. I haven't been able to receive my degree yet because it was going to be mailed to me after it was conferred. I haven't seen any of my bills for the month of October. Her last words to me came in question form "Are you going to start checking your mail? if so, I can start bringing your mail back. You need to check your mail more regularly!"
I have been at my apartment complex for a year and this has never happened. We just got new mailboxes, which are bigger than the ones we had before they changed them, and I never had this problem. If she delivers the mail between 12-2:30 pm and I get off at 5:00 or 5:30 pm on some days, what is that to say that I don't check my mail. I have been checking it, but if they made these changes, and I was not aware, there was nothing given to them by my landlord, no change of address or moving slip signed by me. I don't think that it was right or legal for them to just assume and make changes to something that belongs to me without me saying that, so I believe that it is a federal offense.

With the holiday season approaching us, I feel compelled to share my recent experience with anyone considering mailing packages or gifts of any value through the USPS. My soon to be son-in-law mailed a very valuable item by priority mail from our local post office located in Hobe Sound, FL. Unfortunately, he did not purchase insurance or opt for registered mail being young and thinking that USPS was safe and responsible. Being that it was priority mail, he did receive a tracking number. He checked this number via the internet the very next day. It was stamped in Orlando, FL on this date. He then checked the next day and so on for the next 37 days. It was never stamped again. The package, medium sized priority mail box, is nowhere to be found. After numerous phone calls and needless to say many hours on hold, faxing several items here and there, everyday diligently for 37 days, we are basically told, “Tough luck, we can’t help you.” We gave them our property, entrusting them to do their job and deliver it and they have failed miserably with no remorse and zero concern.
They do not have set routes to track items, no cameras in their mail rooms, and they are not even willing to question employees or open an investigation to find out how this package disappeared into thin air. We have exhausted ourselves and all of our few resources they have passed down to us. Forget about the recovery center in Atlanta, I may as well have been talking to my dog. They were of no help or concern. Their only job and concern is auctioning off other people’s property and profiting from it. This is where my long and tiresome search ended. They claim not to have received my 2 separate faxes (confirmed sent) that I had hoped might have saved us from the first auction. I understand an auction is held in Atlanta every 30 days or less, so our hope of recovery has greatly diminished.
We hope others will benefit from our misfortune. The postal service may be cheaper, only if you do not purchase insurance or registered mail. It is not safe. After doing our homework, we will only be using UPS for our mailing services from now on. All of their packages are insured and tracked to their final destination. What’s priority? Priority means nothing. I am very sad for this kid’s loss and hard lesson was learned in trusting our government. I am greatly disappointed in the USPS for their unwillingness to help and lack of concern in this matter. What kind of explanation am I left to draw? Where did this package go? What do you think? I gave them a package to deliver and they failed poorly at their only job/responsibly. So go with the group that specializes in packages, UPS all the way. It ends up being cheaper and you’re always guaranteed delivery or compensation for your loss. No questions is equal to no brainer.

Nearly all of the complaints here, or at least many, indicate viewing tracking information that ends with packages seemingly sitting at the appropriate post office and after days have gone by. No other activity appears forthcoming. I can also guarantee that when you call, visit, e-mail, or write your post office to complain and ask their assistance, you will feel as though they think you're lying or a fool to be dismissed and advised, "All mail/packages we have received have been delivered,” which is most likely true - believe it or not. But you know you haven't received it and feel you've been violated, which, by the way, you have. Before you continue on, I'd advise that you are more often than not missing a key point: “All mail/packages we have received have been delivered.” Remember this also means, “All mail/packages we have not received cannot be delivered,” except that the tracking says your mail has been given to the post office and that's where almost all of us stop considering.
After three packages of my own were lost/stolen (because, let's get real, most of these are not simply “lost”; two very expensive ones within the course of three weeks), my husband and I did some very serious cross-referencing after communication with sellers (stores), their post office masters and our own. We started getting conflicting statements that we believe all to be true. Our search began when our post master looked at what appeared to be USPS tracking since it was in fact coming from USPS tracking online (so how could it not be from USPS?!). He came back shaking his head in a huff to advise that the information was not coming from USPS post officials, but rather from private contractors contracted/hired by USPS (incidentally, this includes most often to be FedEx) to move USPS mail more efficiently. While FedEx is directly involved though, there are others not so clearly identified they are CDS (Contract Delivery Service).
It appears in our searching and digging that many times tracking information that states a package/mail has been delivered to the post office is actually coming from contracted carriers and not USPS, even when the sender has given the mail/package directly to the original USPS post office. But sometimes the sender has elected to involve a contractor first, such as FedEx SmartPost, who then is to deliver that mail/package to the local post office at the receiver's end. So, who is responsible for that lost mail/package? Well, if USPS doesn't receive the mail/package from the contracted shipper, they can't deliver it to the receiver - meaning us - so they can easily say without guilt that, “Oh, well, stuff gets lost,” or, “You must have gotten it and don't remember,” or, “Someone must have stolen it from your mailbox.” I bet you can add to that list.
In truth, your mail/package has most likely been stolen alright - but before it ever reached your post office. It's a federal offense too, but how do you prove it? Who is liable in the end? Okay, well, this is my opinion and some may take issue with it, but I do know that if a company hires subcontractors and a subcontractor does something wrong, the main company is liable. It does seem that USPS has permitted too many hands in the kitchen, though, and they don't even know who some of those hands are. I do know I don't trust FedEx and now I have to consider USPS at risk. Perhaps we need to return to the Pony Express? Or, hey, we could just locate that island Tom Hanks was cast onto for several years - maybe we'd find all our missing packages there?

In brief overview, the issue I am writing about has been ongoing for over four months now. It involves the USPS non-delivery of a package, which made it all the way to my local post office. It was there on the day that I personally picked up other mail, asked about it, and was told that it wasn't there yet. And then, it was subsequently marked unclaimed and return to sender. According to USPS' own admission and their tracking record, the package then was returned a second time to my local post office and again it was not delivered, nor was I notified to pick it up (I live less than 1 mile from the post office so I don't think there would be any problem with my getting there) and it was again returned to sender.
The package has never reached the sender, and the USPS tells me they have no way of tracking where it is! I have been in contact with the sender (who understandably doesn't feel he needs to be involved since his shipment originally reached it proper destination). However, he also has contacted his shipper and they show they have never received that package back.
I have spent a ridiculous amount of time and endured much aggravation trying to resolve this matter through various channels of the USPS. I talked with my local postal people 3 or 4 times (Batavia, NY), two emails to Shirley at support@USPS (uspshelpdesk@spemail.esecurecare.net), then three times I contacted the USPS Inspector General (hotline@uspsoig.gov), one phone call to USPS Headquarters in Washington, DC which did nothing more than get me a call from a worker at my local post office (Loretta in Batavia) who was clueless of the entire situation; two emails with Lisa **, a Consumer Research Analyst of the Consumer Advocate that accomplished nothing! I have gotten absolutely nothing time and again but pass the buck and excuses about how this could happen, and "we are truly disappointed that we did not provide you with good service." But no remedy for my loss! In fact, the last attempt I made was a reply to a response email from Lisa, in which I specifically addressed getting a remedy for my situation. And I got no response.
Since the above action, I have filed a complaint with my NY Senator Gillibrand and after waiting another three months, her reply was just a repeat of the same pass the buck, empty apologies, "we're not responsible," "no one's accountable" ** that has been the case for the entire time (7 months) I have been pursuing a remedy.

Once I'm behind on a bill, I can't get caught up, as I live week to week. What great employees at the USPS! It does not take 8 days for a piece of mail to make it two hours away. Thanks again to the government employees for their outstanding service! The bank is ok with taking the car and losing money; they can just make a phone call and get bailed out again.
10-22, still no check. $50.00 in overdraft fees yesterday, and there will be another $25.00 today. And if the USPS loses my check that was sent today, I will have another $25.00, maybe more because I have to pay the overdraft fees from this week. Maybe, I just won't eat for the week. This posting will consist of a few complaints. First, our mail is routinely delivered to the wrong address. On more than one occasion my neighbor has opened my bank statements (she has the same bank I do) thinking they were hers. She now has a chunk of my private financial information. If my mail is delivered to somebody shady, my identity could easily be stolen.
We do not get our mail if it is raining, snowing, or if it is overcast outside. When a complaint was filed with local post office, they said mail volume is down. Okay, I still don't think I would go 8 days without mail. On day 9, I got 7 bundles of mail (each with a separate rubber band around them). This would seem to indicate that it was 7 days' worth of mail delivered in one day. This is unacceptable. Withholding mail is a federal offense. The only problem is, it is impossible to prove.
I went out of town at the beginning of the year and put a hold mail notice. On this notice, I selected deliver my held mail on a specific date. Three days after this date, I still had not received any mail. I had to go to the post office where they told me I had selected to have it held until I picked it up. When I showed them the confirmation I had printed (showing that I had selected to have it delivered), they simply shrugged and walked away from me. This was after waiting in line for the customary hour at the local post office.
I recently went out of town again and filed the necessary hold mail form. This time, however, I chose to pick up the mail. The day I was leaving (noted as the first day to hold the mail), the postal carrier delivered mail as I was leaving the driveway. When I spoke to him, he had no idea the mail was to be held. When I returned home, I went to the post office to pick up my mail, waiting in line 45 minutes. When I finally got to the counter, the supervisor of our route told me I selected to have the mail delivered. I then showed her my confirmation that indicated I had chosen to pick up my mail. It was at this point that she developed the world's biggest attitude. I will admit, after this point, I was no longer cordial. I do not look incompetence in the face, have it cop an attitude with me, and let it roll off my back.
These postal workers are illiterate and incompetent. I guess when there are laws preventing any legal action against the post office, it just breeds incompetence from the top to the bottom. I can only imagine that an incompetent supervisor will have incompetent staff working for her. At some point, we need to privatize the post office and take it out of government hands. Maybe then, the taxpayers (we do pay their salaries) will have an actual course of action when these people screw up repeatedly. The worst part of the whole thing, the post office has admitted they were incompetent and messed up, but they will not apologize for the mistakes nor the way we were treated.

After having the same PO Box for over 30 years, I have not been receiving any mail in the box. After inquiring a number of times, I was told repeatedly that the mail was very light. Including my bills etc.? I spoke to Bonnie ** who is supposed to be the post master and told her of the problem and she could not or would not help in any way. I own an insurance agency for 30+ years and sometimes, the policyholders will send their checks to me for their premium (which they should not) and I have had at least 2 complaints as to why they were not credited. The reason being My PO Box has been getting no mail.
The post master has a very bad attitude and was of no help at all. Today, I found out my lock was changed despite my paying the box rent every 6months (January and June every year), so that would be the reason for no mail. These people that are going to have a policy lapse because of the inept postmaster will not be forgiving. Please advise where I can complain and have something done about this since the postmaster is of no help.

I sent documents required by the National Visa center for my parents who are living in the Philippines. I used the Express Mail Services of the USPS on Oct. 9, 2009, and the expected delivery was Oct.13, 2009. The documents left the local post office on Oct. 9, 2009 and were scanned at the distributing office on the same day. That was the last recorded activity. I called USPS and they said that they lost the documents and couldn't find it. They said that they will refund the fee - how convenient for them. I don't care about how much I paid them. They were entrusted with the delivery of the documents and they lost it.

I shipped an item using USPS with delivery confirmation on the 6th of October 2009; it has been more than 10 days and the item has not been received by the person who is waiting for it. The tracking number states that it hasn't moved since October 7th. I don't know what to do. I hold a small business on eBay and the buyer is waiting for the item. I tried calling customer service, but I only get the PBX saying that my item cannot be tracked.
