I was shopping at my local outlet mall and had been paying by check with no issues. I went to use my third check of the day for 198 dollars and Telecheck declined the check. I have over 8000 dollars in the account and was told I fell outside my guidelines and the check would not be accepted as per Telecheck.

I don't understand how they can make the decision on how I spend my own money. I had no other way of paying for the apparel, so I either have to drive 40 miles back to the outlets or do without what we needed for our summer vacation. It's just the principle.

I had over $400.00 in my checking account and was making a $40.00 purchase at Dollar Tree, however, when they ran my check through the system, Telecheck service declined my check. When I called customer service I spoke with a customer service representative, as well as their manager, and no one could give an ample reason why my check declined, other than saying it didn't fit the guidelines. Then Telecheck put a 6 day hold on my ability to write checks at any establishment, which has created a difficult situation for me.

I was very embarrassed, as I had to pull myself out of line and wasn't to purchase my products. Now I am in need of food and other products, and without a debit card, and banks being closed today (Saturday - 6/14/08) and tomorrow (6/15/08), I'm not able to purchase anything that I need. There are a few products I need immediately, and cannot understand how I could be penalized for 6 days of writing a check when I have more than enough in my checking account. It's created a very inconvenient situation for me, and especially when no one at Telecheck could give an answer as to why I was declined and also would not remove the 6 day hold of not allowing me to write checks.
