This company has been harassing my 95 year old mother for months over a debt I owe. Now they have started calling a friend of mine who has nothing to do with any of this. I called them and asked them to stop calling others about my personal business. They said they would but they continue to call. I am 71 years old and these debts are a result of personal problems out of my control. I am on Social Security and unable to pay. Because of the age of these debts they told me they can't sue me but want me to pay them anyway. I explained that I couldn't and asked them to stop calling. I don't know how to make them stop other than filing complaints about their collection practices wherever I can.

Received 2 letters at my home address even though I never had an account with the Original Creditor (Citibank/Shell in my case). Got scared and checked my credit report for free online, verifying again that I NEVER had such an account and my credit was fine. Call their number 800 282 2644 - needless to say, got an Indian call center on the other line (operator confirmed). I asked how long I had that account. Operator, put me on hold, and most likely gave a good guess. Of course the guess was impossibly wrong. Unless they give credit cards prior to birth.
Since I did not want to deal with it further, they wanted to label the account as "dispute" but needed a "police report" to be faxed to them. Who has time for that?! When asked how to get a police report, they "redirected" me, as in just put me back in the queue for someone other random operator to deal with. Second operator was also sympathetic with my case but unwilling to "close" my account, only being able to "disable any future phone calls or mail" (very suspicious). Then was asked if there was anything else they could do (obviously no). I recorded the call for legal purposes.
My guess: I doubt the review indicating someone was sued is true - probably imposter companies way of manipulating these reviews into scaring more fear into INNOCENT people. This company has somehow found your address, but is now using it illegally to scam INNOCENT people. My recommendation: IF YOU GET ANY CALLS OR MAILS FROM THIS COMPANY, DO NOT PAY. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR DEBT WITH THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR. VERIFY, VERIFY, VERIFY. Although I am not 100% certain they are scam artists, my experience points to it. Don't panic.

The person who called me was very polite and clearly from a law office in the US. So 5 stars on that. It did take him a while to get that I was the same person, but that they had my maiden name, and that I've been married for 6 years now. They are collecting on a Capital One debt for $600.00 that Asset Acceptance bought and sued me on, even though I agreed to $250.00 upfront and $200 monthly and paid $450.00 I didn't have just to avoid a judgement that they won't go out of their way to remove. Asset Acceptance is now Midland.
However, I told him about the fact that due to the winter that we've had in Ohio that my electric bill is way higher than normal. I have annual computer upkeep costs to pay this month, and my spouse who has genetic type 2 diabetes and a thyroid condition needs to go to the doctor. We don't make enough to get subsidies on the Obamacare exchanges, so we pay everything out of pocket. He still wanted $100.00 a month and would only accept that, but said that they had medical and financial hardship programs, but when I asked what documentation they required to prove that my spouse has medical problems and that we have financial issues, he just kept saying take a week to think about accepting the $100.00 per month offer. Thinking about paying them $100.00 a month isn't going to make me suddenly have $100.00 a month, and then I look like I refuse to pay, when I do not have the money. I'm barely meeting my current bills.

MCM has been collecting a debt all paid.

I received a letter from MCM indicating that I owe a bill to GE/Care credit from 2007. I called MCM on several occasions to request validation of the bill and every time they repeatedly send me their (MCM) bill. This went on for months. I was then served on 1/6/2014 by MCM attorney Finkelstein, Kerns, Steinberg & Cunningham to be in court on 2/4/2014. I then called FKSC the following day (1/7/2014) and explained that I repeatedly asked for some documents of this bill from GE/Care credit as I have no knowledge of this bill or if I even owe this bill. FKSC assured me that they will be forwarding immediately.
In the meantime, I sent a certified letter to MCM for validation of the bill which they received on 1/17/2014 and I went through my archives and found a old bill from GE Care credit. On 1/20/2014 I received documents from FKSC which was suppose to be a bill from GE Care/credit. OMG this document was so fraudulent it was a copy and paste of someone's bill. On a white piece of standard paper wrong account number, incorrect APR, information blacked out and I could go on. Nevertheless it was not mine.
I went to court on 2/4/2014 and meet with their attorney and advised that I will not pay as this bill was not mine and provided evidence. (Did not give her my bill, however showed her that I had the bill and gave her the information clearly letting her know account was wrong) FKSC (she) was not happy and advised that this information was fraudulent and she advise that they do not participate in any fraudulent practices. She advised that they will be forwarding additional information on the account.
To this day I have not received a thing from FKSC nor from MCM. However they continue to report on my credit report. Need help what are my options. Clearly there must be something that I can do. It's frustrating to know that this can go on without any ramification to Midland. Can provide documents on request.

In February we made deal with this company to settle an old debt that they had filed court papers with. We agreed to pay 900.00 dollars upfront which we did and 500.00 dollars March 15. They then send a payment bill stating the balance is 600.00 dollars. Not what we agreed to on phone! Spent over two hours on phone talking to number of people in India with no satisfaction. Not even to office in San Diego. They have changed the agreement and refuse to stick to the original.

MCM put negative remarks on my credit report. The charges have not been validated. I have tried to call them to find out what is going on and the phone number listed on credit report is not working. I google them and find an address that matches address on credit report but that phone number is a number to a San Antonio apartment complex. This must be a fraudulent company. They cannot be reached. I have not received any mail from them. Also Midland Fund has also posted negative comment for the same account.

They started calling my cell phone last year. I finally answered and spoke to some foreign guy. I told him I will not pay a bill I know nothing about, nor pay for anything over the phone. Told him that there are too many scams going on and unless I receive all the proper information saying this was my bill, I will not pay. He said "so you are refusing to pay your bill," I told him "no...... I want proof that this is my bill." What they sent me was a typed up letter. They called me 2 days later and said "we sent you the bill now will you pay." I told them NO. First of all, when I say proper information, I want the signed contract that states this is my bill. I then informed him that there is a new law (I know in Texas). They have to have permission to call you on your cell phone now. He then asked do I have permission to call you on your cell phone. I told him no. Well the jerk just called again. I answered and said "on the date and time I told you no you cannot call my cell phone and I wanted the recording of that conversation." He hung up on me. I have just typed up a letter and will be taking it to my lawyers in the morning.

I too have been harassed by this company for years now. They keep calling every day for a debt that first of all was to be paid off with a claim made several years ago. The debit is unsecured and also past the statue of limitation. I went into the hospital and had someone watching my house. Midland was told by the house sitter that I was in the hospital and would not be available for a while. Midland continued to call every day and sometimes two or three times. As of this morning Midland Credit management was told not to call the house again. They were told six months ago to not call the house and to make all correspondence by mail. I am documenting every time they call. This is now harassment...

I became aware of this Midland Collections after I began to build my credit. While being married, my wife, most of the time, secured credit in her name. After the divorce, this tactic back fired on me. I had a couple of small debts on my credit report and hired a credit repair company. I started to pay off these small (under $500) debts and then the rebuild co somehow got them taken off of my report. All except for one. I wrote to this company asking for verification of the debt, sent via USPS registered mail with return receipt. It went unanswered. The debt was then sold to Midland Collections. The Repair Credit company has disputed this debt for over a year now, so have I.
Midland reports this as a collections on my reports every 2 months, destroying my credit FICA score. I have sent them letters asking what the debt is for and all that I am ever given is the name of the company, Verizon Wireless. I have asked when this debt was incurred and have been advised in the year 1991. They supply an address where I did live during that time. I have requested a full Verizon account number, any and all supporting documentation showing signature, payment history, date account went into collections, all that I believe is supposed to be given. All that they ever give to me AND to to reporting agencies is MY name and address and amount I apparently owe. I am led to believe that the collection agency must provide all of this information. I have requested it; now they say that I only had 60 days in which to dispute this, REALLY!
As of this date, the collections is still reported to all 3 of the BIG reporting agencies, and I have been advised to possibly file an 'Identity Theft Report' with the police, to possible get rid of this. I really do not want to do this! Due to the fact that this is the only thing that apparently has turned up on my credit reports that is disputed. As of this date, I have since filed a complaint with the Federal Fair Claims office stating that this collection is over 10 years old, that I have never received proof of the debt other than them saying "you owe it". I am at wits end here with this. This is absolutely the worst.

Around 2 years ago I started receiving calls from Midland Credit Management. They claimed I owed almost $1,900.00 to Verizon wireless. I told them at that time that I have never had an account through Verizon. The account was in my name, but not my address. I freaked out thinking someone had stolen my identity. I asked them to send proof of the loan (i.e. the contract, the phone calls that were made, etc) so that I could track down who may have stolen my identity. I had to send them written notice that I disputed the bill, which I did. They claimed they never got it. So I did it again, and this time I sent it certified mail. Someone signed for it, it was not very legible, but it was signed for. They claimed they never got it.
To date, the only thing I have gotten from them is a letter that states the amount I owe and the account number. I contacted Verizon. They have no information for me with that account number. Today, I received a call from MGM, and I must note that it came in as a cell phone number. It was listed as Wireless Caller 917-635-1090. I was very polite to the lady, I figure she is just doing her job, I explained everything to her. Finally after going in circles for a half hour, I told her that at this point, I've done everything I was required to do by law. That I don't believe this is my bill and I refuse to pay. She offered me a settlement of only half the bill paid in 3 payments. I said no, I'm not paying it. I told her that something is not right and asked her for the address to the corporate office, which she gave me, and then I asked her for their business ID number.
She kept trying to give me her extension. I said "No, the business ID number." You claim the business is from California, and in order to run a business in California, you have to have a business ID number. She told me to wait a moment and another agent got on the phone, a man this time. When I got to the point where I asked for the business ID number, he hung up on me. I've done some research, and the company does have a website, but I still don't believe they are legitimate. The "debt" is on my credit report, and I want it removed, but at this point, I'm not sure how to get them to take it off.

I get no less than 4 calls per day from these people, sometimes more. I have no idea who they are (other than their company name). I have no bills in collection. I am not late on a single payment to anyone. They have no business calling me several times per day, at all hours of the day. They call anywhere from 6:00am to 11:00pm. My return phone calls to "take me off your list" are not answered, directing me to a "full voicemail box" that will not take a message. This is harassment, clear and simple, for no legitimate reason whatsoever.

We continue to receive debt collection calls to a telephone number we were assigned two years ago. We are not the party that they are looking for. The calls come from a call center in India. The callers are rude, deceptive and not willing to help. They also lie about their names and call at all hours of the day. They also misrepresent where they are calling from. I highly recommend anyone receiving calls from this company report them. I was finally able to speak with a representative in the United States after insisting I be transferred. INSIST TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE U.S. They will not until you repeatedly insist. Hopefully this matter has been resolved.

I began getting calls regarding this account, which was originally through Freedman Jewelers; they went out of business now. I'm receiving calls from a company stating I owe $1,183. They stated that they cannot sue me; however, they can keep adding interest on this account. I told them that I have spoken to a lawyer and that the statute of limitations are up, and I know they can't sue me. They wanted to set up a payment arrangement. I told them no, that I do good to live month-to-month. I have a disabled son and I am also disabled. Told them I no longer wanted phone calls or any letters regarding this debt, or I would also report them.

So, I have not received the calls yet and I am worried about that. I plan on sending them a debt validation letter but on the back, it says that I have to send one within 30 days. Well, I only noticed that recently but there are no dates on the letter except for the due by 2/16/2013, in which I didn't even have the letter at that time. Anyway, my situation is from T-Mobile; my bill was $75. It went to the first creditor and I got a cancellation fee which is false because I wasn't under contract. The amount came to $275.34. Then MCM bought it and said that I owed $623.23 and that I canceled two lines. Well, I never had two lines for the seven years I had them. So after reading all these posts, if they take me to court, I will be there bright and early. As far as the hassle with the credit score, I am stubborn and so I will haggle with them until I get the results I want. A $75 bill went to $623.23? It's craziness. Besides I don't owe them anything; I owe T-Mobile and they refuse to fix the wrong!

Midland contacted me about an Embarq debt under my name on an account that ran from 2007 through 2009. We confirmed the spelling of my full name three times. When I asked to dispute the account, the agent made very clear the sum they were asking for at that time was a discount that I would not see again. He explained that because the account was active for two years, it would be difficult for me to dispute it. My credit reports show no delinquent accounts. Century Link, who now owns Embarq, has no record of a delinquent account under my name or the account number Midland gave me. I called Midland back. They now tell me the delinquent account in question is not under my name. Again during our first conversation, we verified the spelling of my full name three times. And the repeated pressure to pay now or things may get more expensive, with this, being difficult to dispute.

We asked for validation, they haven't, to date yet they send me letters monthly demanding payment or settlement. I reported them to the BBB and FTC. FTC gave me a file number for deceptive business practices. This company doing the dirty underhanded reporting cost us our home loan because they knocked my husband's credit from a 640 to 578. So I called them and told them I don't owe for the laptop, just the antivirus and the reason why I haven't paid for it is because I didn't receive a bill from them. But, they sent a letter saying they're going to report me to the credit reporting agency because I did not pay the bill. And I've been unable to get information regarding the alleged debts to determine if the debts do in fact belong to me as the details are unfamiliar to me. Midland Credit’s management has duplicated one of the entries by entering the same account under Midland Funding, which is the same business operating under another name. I was contacted in July 2011 by MCM (Deborah **) in an attempt to settle a debt. Ms. Deborah accepted $50.00 and I agreed to pay $150 per month until March 2012, at which time, the debt would be considered "satisfied for a lesser amount" and reported to the 3 credit bureaus. I called in my payment monthly; at times, I was told by Deborah that she had "sent me a letter", but I never received any correspondence other than the monthly statements. In January 2012, Deborah told me I had only 2 payments left and she was glad I had worked so diligently to keep my agreement. Today (2/29/12), I called to make the last 2 payments (under our agreement in July 2011) and was told that this debt is not paid in full, that I owe an additional $4,200+. Midland called me 4-5 times a day for months, for what much later turned out to be four separate accounts, none of which were mine. There were months of hang up and robo-calls. No message ever left on answering machine, and if I picked up, there was just dead air. The caller ID said "1 Unavailable". It was impossible to call back and impossible to learn who was even making these harassing calls.
Midland's phone company is AT&T California, and should be equally liable for this constant harassment, as they knew or should have known that MIdland was using this caller ID to cloak its illegal activities. After months and months of this, when I was being treated for cancer and was very ill, and really needed my rest during the day, I picked up and there was actually a person there. He started harassing me about a debt that was not mine, owed by a person who was not me, and repeatedly refused even to identify the business.
Finally, he said it was "MCM" but would not provide more information. I learned only through the internet that it was Midland Credit Management. I got a customer service phone number which was continually busy, but kept dialing and dialing and finally got a person, who promised to remove my number but never did. This happened over and over. I have an attorney now but even after the attorney told them to stop.
The calls still kept coming sporadically for quite a while. Midland has offered $750 plus attorney fees to settle, but they have included unacceptable provisions in their proposed settlement agreement, including excusing themselves from compliance with various laws and a gag order. Apparently, the gag order is important to them, so I am taking this opportunity, while they decide whether to delete the objectionable provisions, to blab all over the internet about what they did to me and are clearly doing to many, many others. I am also working on reporting them to regulatory authorities. They are nationwide, so I am going to work my way through every single state and blab to the regulators what Midland is doing. Maybe somebody will take action against them.

I had an awful experience with this company. I set up a payment plan with them and received a 30% off my total collection balance. I was told I would get a letter stating the agreement, but when I got the letter, it stated that I would have to owe the full balance. I was lied to.
Make sure, if you do make payments, you have the contract on hand. Don't let them tell you to just "trust" them with their words. Be smart in how you're going to clear the debt. When I canceled the payment plan, because they wanted me to trust their words only, I was told I would not receive any more discounts. After I voided and canceled the plan, I asked for a confirmation letter or number. They told me that they could not provide it for me.
Make sure when you give them payment info, do not give them your checking account number. If you decide to cancel the payments, you will have to go to your bank and close your account.
I am very disappointed in their service. It felt like I was serving them more than they were serving me. Very awkward. God bless your experience with them.

They wanted the last 4 digits of my Social Security number (which I refused to give) and stated, "You should not have opened the letter because it wasn't yours!" I told them it was my address with my last name and I had every right to open it. They then refused to discuss why it was sent to me and continued the issue of me opening a letter that was sent to my address with my last name. I am furious because what I believe is that they have sent a number of letters out looking for Scott ** not only to my address but to others.
All I wanted was to know how they got my address but rudeness took over and they refused to discuss this. I think I have a right to know how they obtained my home address, regardless whether it was addressed to Scott ** or Robert **. I thought that these types of collection tactics were done away with. They only thing they said was that they would take me off the mailing list. I am sure I am not the only one who received this letter.

Midland Credit Management via Farrell & Seldin contacted me about a credit card debt which I was unaware I owed (due to divorce) , The first payment was due 5/20. I called to pay but they could not process payment because they needed to do a check by phone and all I had was my debit card (I was moving and my bank/check info was packed) Unfortunately I lost the contact info during that move and did not hear back from them until June. When I received a letter I immediately called and was informed that the original payment plan was no longer an option and they were going to garnish my check - fine - It was my fault for losing the original info. However in August they not only garnished my check but also my main checking account - which means they are taking 100% of my income - leaving me with no money for food, rent, or utilities - the basic needs. How can this possibly be legal?

Midland Credit Management claims that I had service with Verizon since July 2010 which is false. I have been with T-Mobile for the last two years. When I first received service with Verizon, it was around August 2007. I asked for the family plan and with that plan, I was given four phones free, for the four people in my household and if I wanted a different phones, I would have to pay for them. I also ask for the two phones that were given to my children to have blocks on them from downloading and texting. The only thing my children should have had was the ability to call and receive calls.
Well, Verizon did not put the blocks on the phone and wanted me to pay them, on my very first bill, 950.00 plus dollars. I asked why my bill was so high; with the family plan my bill per month should have been just $189.00 or somewhere in that range, take a little, give a little. Verizon was charging me for each phone separately, which causes the bill to be way more than what it should be. I had to go through this each month for about 3 to 4 months. I really got angry when the person on the phone was trying to tell me that I asked for my family plan to be that way. I went back to the store and I said that I am tired of this back and forth with this family plan that I purchased.
So, Verizon at this time is trying to tell me that I owe them this money and once I paid it then they will have no problem changing it to what I wanted. Verizon had my family plan twisted, on top of everything, I showed them my plan that I signed on, it still did not help, even with the proof in their face. I was told several different reasons why my bill was so high and none of the reasons was because of them making a mistake on my family plan. Now, they are on my credit report asking for $1,550.00. They are charging me for terminating the contract, $345.00 per phone and I had 4. I feel like Verizon knows what they are doing and they know that people are going to try to make these payments because no one wants to have bad credit. I feel like there should be a law to STOP companies from putting false information on people's credit report without the truth from both sides being questioned and evidence is shown. Now, Verizon sold this amount to Midland Credit Management and they are asking me to pay this.

They are saying that I have a long over due charge on my GE Money card on my PayPal account and the interest is increasing every month--that I put off paying it.
I assumed from the start that this was a scam because the credit card has never been attached to my PayPal account or my bank. I refused to pay that one, because they pulled the old "you're late, so we sock you with a late fee, which puts you over the limit, so then we hit you with an over-the-limit fee!" I was not late; the original account balance was $276, and after that, it just spiraled up into the stratosphere. Now, this MCM idiot is trying to collect over a thousand dollars! I am still refusing to pay. I won't tolerate their robo-calls, and I won't tolerate their hassles. I just keep telling them I don't owe that, and won't pay it, and even the IRS gives up after 7 years!
The statute of limitations is long expired by now, and I refuse to be suckered by some vulture who thinks he/she can stamp his/her feet, and I will tremble and give in! Fat chance! And they cannot threaten to damage your credit when it has already been damaged by other vultures! Where's the incentive? I may be in better shape in one way than other folks. My older mobile home is paid off, so is my car, and my computer. My only payments are for space rent, and utilities plus car and home insurance. That's it. And I will not allow other vultures to threaten and/or harass me!

At all times, the number comes up as "unknown" and they do not leave messages. I have asked them to stop calling my phone and to just correspond by mail, but they continue to call at all hours. Recently, they sent me a letter stating that I owed $147.88 and that if I paid this, it would settle the account. I paid this and now, they claim that I owe them an additional $98. I have no idea what they are claiming now. I just want them to stop calling. They typically call 6-8 times a day. I feel, as I have paid this debt, they should not be calling anymore. They claim otherwise. The male I talked with actually asked me to, "be quiet and listen to him". He actually then said if I paid today, he would reduce the $98 to $50. I then told him that I had already paid $147.88 and this was all of the bill that I was aware that I owed. He told me that I did not make the settlement date. I then told him that I had mailed it in time and he then said he cannot help when they cash the check. When they finally cashed it, the date had passed.
