I called Midland Funding Llc and requested documentation of the purchase of my card and they stated they do not have this. Don't you think that is strange. I know when I purchase something of value I receive documentation. This company is sketchy.

Just got a phone call from these scammers. I feel horrible for these people that get scammed by these guys... THEY ARE NOT A REAL DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY. First of all, if you owe money, the bank you ORIGINALLY borrowed from will try to contact you and only them! They send letters first, and my key is never answer a phone number you do not know. Screen it by letting it go to voicemail. Call back and never say the actual word yes to anything. My first clue this was a scam is that they couldn't tell me what they were calling me about until I gave them my social? That way they could look me up in some sketchy computer program that gives them all my info... HELL NO! Stay far away from this company as possible. For those dealing with them now, try to cancel your payments and close out any checking accounts they are taking money from so they won't be able to do so anymore! I hope the police/FBI get a whiff of these guys...

These thieves have tried collecting a debt that is way past the statute of limitations in CA. In addition they have threatened me and my 80-year-old mother. I have had the same # and address for many years and not once sent me proof of any debt owed or any court documents. There is also nothing reporting on my credit report. I have excellent credit and I refuse to let these jerks mess it up. Don’t give any info and always ask for proof which they can’t seem to produce. Sad world we live in folks but always gotta be on your toes.

These people contacted me several times regarding a debt for my son. I forwarded the information onto him. Because of his job he decided it wasn't worth arguing about a debt he knew was not his for $280. It was some internet debt... He thinks it was his old roommate using his info... But they kept calling me so I read the reviews here and told him to cancel the card he used to pay them. He didn't do it in time and they took out 2 different transactions in the amount of $650 from his bank account without his permission. AND they are still trying to call him and collect money. We will be contacting an attorney and filing a complaint. I am not sure why this company is still allowed to practice in the state of Arizona. I deal with a collection company for my business (I'm the one reporting the debt) and they would never do this type of underhanded business. Real collection agencies DO NOT take out money without permission.

Obviously being a debt collector they SHOULD be interested in closing accounts. I called them and asked for a 10 day payoff amount and they proceeded to bully me and tell me they weren't sure if they could close the account. (UHMMM YOU'RE JOKING!?) They then asked me where I'm getting the money to pay it off and why I haven't paid it in the first place and asking for every detail of my life when I said we got into some financial issues they kept pressing on and on. He said that I had been paying for my PUD and Comcast (how they can see that I'm not sure) but I felt very violated.
I finally told them that if they wanted their money they would give me the 10 day payoff amount and who to make the check out to and where to send it. He then got very rude and asked if he would for sure have the check in his hands in 10 days. I said "We will be sending it out in the next 2 days but I don't know the exact day you will have it in your hands." I am absolutely dumbfounded how high and mighty these people act. ESPECIALLY to people calling to resolve and close their accounts.

Midland is driving us crazy, calling day and night, both my husband's number, and mine. We made arrangements to pay one bill, and now they're hounding us for another. I can barely sleep, we don't have anything to take but they are going to give it a try anyway. I can't get a lawyer right now, so doing tutorials on how to defend myself. PLEASE people, don't get on free credit score websites that give you "advice" on credit cards!! It will ruin your life. I really think most people are good, and they want to try and better themselves, and just end up over their heads, embarrassed and ashamed.
I worked with two other debt collectors who really helped me pay off past debts. They treated me with some dignity, and made real arrangements I can deal with, and I was grateful for them. One of them even reduced the amount of the debt, took a large chunk off because I was cool with them. So I'm not trying to "get out" of paying, I, like so many others, are just tapped out. Practices like Midland's have got to STOP! Why is this legal!? They can sue someone for $1000 and take their home, and wages. WHY!? All it takes is a Google search to see the terrifying reality of Midland Funding/Midland Credit Management.

I received a phone call today from Manny ** at **. I told Mr. ** that this was a work number and we were not allowed to receive non-related work calls. At this time, I assumed Mr. ** was a telemarketer. He proceeded to ask me to verify my name over and over. I stated, "I said my name when I answered". He then proceeded to go into a script about a debt and legal action; despite me repeating, "I cannot have non-business related discussions on this line." After a moment, I stopped him and said, "What is the name of the company you are calling from" and he told me Midland Credit Mgmt.
Here's where it gets fun. I informed Mr. ** that he had the wrong "Doe". There are two employees at my company with the EXACT same name. I informed him that he had now violated confidential information to the wrong individual, violating FCRA. He tried to tell me that 'it happens all of the time, and it's not illegal since we have the same name". I told him it is his responsibility to perform the diligence to assure he has the correct person. He has now disclosed financial information about one employee to another at a company, and continues to call on a business line - despite being asked not to.
I gave all of the information to my co-worker so she could follow up, but told her I would write a review myself. She informed me that she had asked them to stop calling her work almost a year ago, and had recorded the call for this exact reason. I don't know if they are a reputable company - but with actions like this, they could lose their license I would think...

This company really just won't quit! For the past month, they've blown up my phone, either from an unknown number or various 1-866 numbers. When I finally spoke with a representative, I was told about a debt I have with Credit One Bank and they said I owe 1,134 dollars. First of all, I do owe money on this particular credit card but my outstanding balance is def not 1,000 dollars. They pressure you to give your card/bank info in order to set up a "Payment plan" in order to rid your debt. Real debt collectors don't call asking for your card info, they send letters first. I played along with the representative although I knew it was a scam from jump.
When I asked him what the name of the company is again and he started stuttering. I asked him to send me a letter, he said he would and they actually did but the stationary screams amateur. I then asked them if they're certified under the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and he started getting defensive. I googled the company while on the phone with him and told him about their horrible reviews and that's when he started yelling at me. This company is a fraud and you'd be an idiot to give them any kind of money.

I received a call from "Louis **" with regard to a debt they collected from Citibank for a Sears MasterCard. The account was opened in December 2014, but last payment on the account was 1/5/17 - and then payments stopped. The accrued balance now due is over $6K. Louis confirmed our home address, my husband's date of birth and social security number. He even told me some of the charges on the "account". This seemed all legit - especially the charges - as they were all local businesses that we frequent often.
BUT: 1.) We have NEVER received a billing from Citibank for a Sears MasterCard. 2.) My husband has NEVER had a Sears MasterCard thru Citibank. 3.) There is NO account like this on either of our Credit Reports. 4.) When I asked for proof of the debt - "What would you like me to send you"? Really? I told him I would l do nothing based on a phone call. I am freaked out over this "debt" that I know nothing about. Still too many questions and "what ifs".

I hung up and then Googled and saw all these reviews. Made me scared to trust them after my phone call now more so after seeing all these comments. When I first called I got a nice lady. Then transferred me to a really nasty person. The things he was saying and how he was treating me was so nasty.

I receive calls regularly from these people, you cannot block their number because they will just use a different one. They are now down to the level telling me that my step-son is in danger and to call back immediately. I've encountered most of their ploys over the last four years but using the ploy to concern or cause fear for a parent about the health or life of their child is downright twisted. What is even nastier is they went through my friend requests on social media and are using those names in their calls. I do not use social media for anything other than private messaging since it is very hard for me to use my phone due to poor eyesight and lack of fine motor control so the computer allows me to communicate and is my biggest connection with the outside world.
If you are being pursued illegally, write a letter to your State Attorney General. If they are as good as mine your troubles could be over. Within a month of writing about another agency, my problem was totally eliminated and removed from my credit report due to their illegal practices. Disability income, SSDI, SSI, VA, etc. is often judgment proof, check to see if your income qualifies. You can also use an attorney that offers one visit complimentary which is what I did with an extra promise that if I was going to file bankruptcy I would work with him. Being totally bedridden limits me from jumping through the hoops these places demand and you don't have to let them walk all over you.
Never agree to pay something you don't believe you owe. Before even talking with them you can educate yourself on what to say and what not to say, then stand your ground. Check your credit scores at least annually. You can get one free report per year and if you create an account at other credit monitoring places you can check it as often as you want. I check mine and hubby's weekly and receive regular emails telling me about events to which I want to stay informed.

Midland Credit Management, LLC or also known as MCM should be considered a harassment company versus a debt collection agency. I recently changed my address and went into the MCM payment portal to update my information. I have received calls in the past and unfortunately in a bad spot and don’t have the extra funds at this time to pay. I have assured them though I’ll make minimum payments whenever I can. Which I’ll make small payments on the portal when I am able to do so.
After I updated my address on the MCM portal I decided to pay a min amount at the same time which I accidentally put my account number in wrong and it didn’t go through and MCM never notified me so a month later I found out and didn’t have the extra funds any longer. I got a bill in the mail at my new address which brought my attention it wasn’t taken out and I made a mistake entering my account since the bill I got was the same amount it was before. They now have sent me bills for that amount left and right, I get the same bill/amount 2-3 Days a week with these cut off dates to contact them days before I get it in the mail or the day of. They started calling my phone 4-5X a day and it will start at 8am on the dot and they’ve called as late as 830-9PM at night.
I decided to ignore them and I’ll pay when I pay since they put a bad taste in my mouth with all these letters/bill being sent constantly with the threat to contact them by so and so date and all the calls at ridiculous times of the day. After them calling me multiple times a day along with sending me the same bill 3X a week, I called and told them I made a mistake with entering my account and I unfortunately didn’t have the funds any longer and I will again pay when I’m able to pay.
The guy told me why did I attempt to make a payment 3 months ago if I don’t have the funds? I explained if they contacted me on the issue of my account info being wrong in a decent amount of time I would have been able to fix it and still would have had the funds to pay it, but they decided to wait over a month so by then I no longer had it. The calls calmed down and stopped after I called and told them to keep sending me a bill each month and I have everything set up on the MCM portal so I will make payments when I am able to.
Finally it was quiet for a bit maybe 2-3 weeks. Then I get a text from my husband while he was at work asking me if I knew I owed $581.00 to a debt collector for a Walmart credit card I had in 2014! I refreshed his memory on when I originally got the credit and what we used it on since he did know of it he just needed a reminder. I asked him what made him bring this up and he told me the debt collection agency MCM that took it over called him and asked him my location and he asked why and instead of saying I owed a debt they told him all with how much I owed and what it was for etc.
He gave them my cell which he snapped at my husband they already have it and I’ve contacted them, but they figured to contact my husband to maybe push me to pay off or he could give funds to pay off debt! He told them he works a job daily 7am to 7pm and can’t be contacted during those hours and for them not to contact him again and my personal phone number. 3 days later my father in law came over and mentioned to me MCM called his landline and they asked him if he knew I owed them $581 that Walmart turned over to them to collect. He told them it was none of his business and asked if they had my personal number, which they lied and said no so my father in law gave them the same number I gave them personally, my husband gave them too and the guy told my father in law they have that number and have spoken to me and told him how I can’t pay at this time and asked if maybe he can help out!
Again I’m open book and close to my father in law so he also knew of this Walmart card and it went to collections so no biggie, but it’s the fact they are contacting my family and telling them all the details and they have a way to contact me. My cell which is the number I gave to MCM is under my husband’s name so I am assuming they looked up other numbers associated with his name which how they got my husband’s cell number. Plus he is a 3rd and has same exact name as his father so that’s how they probably got my father in law’s landline number and assumed it was another of my husband’s. I’m waiting for my 2 sister in law’s next to tell me that got a phone call from MCM since their cell numbers are also under my father in law’s name which shows the same as my cell under my husband’s.
I recently contacted the family lawyer about this and plan on looking into if there’s a class action lawsuit in the making against MCM for this reason. I have the call date/time and length of the call he originally got and spoke to them and then a text from him time stamped a minute after he hung up with MCM asking me when have I had a Walmart card and do I know I owe $581, which I asked what made him bring this up. My father in law’s working on getting the call log for the day MCM called his home with the date and time and length of call since he also spoke to them. I might tell them to go ** themselves at this point and make no payments at all. Hopefully I’ll get the chance and enough proof to bring this to court and have them be paying me. Calling my family, fine. But telling them how much I owe and from where and asking if they can make payments since I can’t I can only assume is ILLEGAL!

I refused to pay them and they garnished my wages, bank account, and even called my house at all hours of the day and night. They almost got me fired from my job by calling so much and telling my boss "she's a loser that doesn't pay her bills." It is 2017 and they have yet again garnished my bank account. I was called by these people twice this week. The callers were from an India call center. They kept telling me I owed several hundred dollars on a credit card account from 2009, an account I have never heard of and that doesn't show on my current credit report. I tracked down a 1-800 number on their website that was listed out of San Diego. When I spoke with a representative at that number, I was passed to an "account manager" which surprise, surprise, was another Indian speaking gentleman.
I asked them to send me a written letter of debt, verify my full social security number, and provide the banking account I supposedly used to make the last payment on the account back in 2009 and he said he could not do any of that. When I explained my frustration and concern was the reason I was wary of providing information on a supposed debt from 8 years ago, plus the fact that he couldn't verify anything with me (other than my last 4 SS# and my phone number) he became very agitated with me and I hung up.

I got stuck with Midland because my Dentist's new employee sent me to an Oral Surgeon on South Cobb Dr in Smyrna. That Oral surgeon's Financial person "borrowed" money from Lending Club in my name, to pay for the surgery. I didn't know this is what she was doing until after I got the bill. I thought I was making a payment plan with the oral surgeon's office. Well, she told me the bill would be $47 per month. I told her that even though I don't get paid at all during Summers and sparingly during the other months because of the nature of my job, I still figured I could handle $47 per month. Well, a bill came from Lending Club (???) for $157 per month.
I couldn't handle it. I paid what I could. Eventually, they send the bill to Midland. Midland's employee faked that I said I was okay with automatic withdrawals, which was a lie, so they snatched money out of my bank account. I told the bank that I never agreed to direct draft because I never knew when I would have money in the account on a consistent basis. The bank believed me because they could see my account. The bank got my money back from Midland. I have tried to pay Midland twice. The payment expected was $50 but I chose to pay $81 today.
The system wouldn't take the payment! Florence, at Midland, said that it was because I was making a second $81 payment and the system didn't trust two payments of the same amount. (???) She told me to pay $81.02. I paid the $50 the system expected. They give you options on how long you want to pay off your debt... just go to their website and make an account. Hit make a payment and choose your options anywhere from 1 to 120 months to pay. I made the mistake by calling. The jerk put me on plan for 103.34 a month. If I did not call I could have made minimum payments of 35.00. If only I had paid my balance on my last card. I would not be in this situation! So for people complaining about this company, you went about it the wrong way by calling them. :(

They have no idea who they think they are dealing with. I have neither spoken with or received anything from these people.

I received a phone call today from Amelia of Midland Credit Management, San Diego (858) 221-0191 re: a Walmart account that she claimed was past due. Amelia was requesting payment of over $400 on an account which I had paid $351 (limit was $300. Walmart closed the account because of late payments). Amelia then stated I had a balance due on an HSBC account of over $3000 due. I remembered this card. It had been charged off in 2004. The debt is over 14 years old. It was well beyond the statute of limitations of the courts for civil judgment collection.
I explained this to Amelia. She spoke to me very politely. She went on and on about the fact that her company had purchased the debt and the money was owed. I explained to her the laws of the land having be through the process with the IRS. You learn quick when the IRS wants to collect. The debt is still outstanding and owed to that company them. You will always owe the debt until it has been paid. You owe the debt morally. Legally there is a statute of limitations in most of the 50 states which has a time frame to collect through the courts. The IRS has seven years to bring a case forward or they cannot collect. They came to my house six years and eleven months and twenty-two days and served me then they put a lien on for the estimated taxes on everything I had in site.
Back to Amelia, she decided to get her manager, a nice fellow named Jake to speak to me. There was nothing Jake could say to me that would make want to pay a 14 yr old bill charge off that was out of the statute window for any type of legal action. He tried to make me state that I owed the money and should repay it. I said the following "Jake, what did you learn today?" He responded "Did you think about the SOL when you first used the card?"
My answer "Today you learned that your company gambles when they purchase debt that is outside of the court system that requires a person to do the right thing morally. The laws have been put in place for both sides. I would like to pay you but legally, I do not have to and since the item has been charged off my credit record has been cleared. Now, I must ask your company or agents who represent Midland Collection Management not to call me again regarding this matter. I believe you said you were recording this call in an attempt to collect a debt. I am reporting you to Consumer Affairs."

I have an old credit card account that totaled about $500 (I got disabled and couldn't pay it off). Midland contacted me about 3 weeks ago, very polite and said the bill was over $950. When asked, they said that it was not their responsibility to provide me with all the documents I asked for. I would not set up any kind of arrangement until they did. The next day, they started calling at least 3 times a day threatening to sue me. Last week, they called my mother, my father and a sister and gave this big song and dance and tried to see what they could do for me. Now I am getting calls that they are a process server and where do I live, etc. etc. Same story to my parents (both in their 80s). There have been several stories like this and I am getting really ** off. Reading these other reviews, I feel so relieved that it is not me. I have some work to do and educate myself. On February 22, 2017, I received a certified letter explaining that I was being sued in civil court for $1500 for an old credit card debt with Sears. I was appalled, not knowing that I could be sued for such a paltry amount. Being both disabled and poor, but not stupid, I realized something was wrong with this picture. Sure enough, Midland Credit Management is a disgusting excuse for a legitimate company. They are not legitimate, in my opinion, firstly because they go by a whole slew of different company names designed to confuse people and keep consumer affairs off their slick, dollar-greased backs. MCM is also known as Midland Funding LLC, Asset Acceptance LLC, Encore Capital Group, Midland Acquisition Corp, Midland Acquisitions Corp and MRC Receivables Corp. That in itself shows deceit in my opinion.
Secondly, I collected the phone records from my home phone and determined that they called me at all hours of the day and night, after explicitly being told that I was disabled and they were disturbing me. In one year they called my house 190 times, which is in clear violation of Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Finally, I counter sued, or "cross claimed" a suit due to Midland's inability to furnish admissible debt documents, such as the credit card application itself and their complete disregard for my cease and desist letter. They contacted me 5 times after they received my letter and all of a sudden they were calling my house for another individual whom I have never heard of.
Clearly, these vultures are hoping you won't show up and they get a default judgment, that you will show up and perjure yourself by admitting to the debt, if that's the case, and that you won't take the time to look up your own rights, collect your own evidence and prepare your own defense. Yes, it takes hours upon hours to educate yourself as to the legality of the individuals suing you, but it's worth the fight. Don't roll over and let these shysters abuse you... fight back! Stand up for yourself! Fight the false power and have no fear.

WOW... What a surprise to receive a 1099C after I negotiated and paid off my debt. MCM picked up my bad debt from Wells Fargo for pennies on the dollar and then negotiated a 50% payoff on it. I was never informed that I would be 1099'd on the dismissal of debt. Had I know this I would of let them take me to court or negotiated a different payoff amount. My 1099 is equivalent to me paying back $5035.00 in taxes. No small chunk of change. The calls to MCM (many of them) are useless. They just put you on hold and read their script with no help whatsoever. What is my recourse. As a consumer who has never had a debt collector come after me, how was I to know? They will not send any documents showing or stating that they told me this information. They filed a court order to take me to court and then I negotiated. Does anyone know what course of action I can take? Has anyone experience this before?

I went and got a bank check and was going to mail it to the address. But it was a P.O. address only. I wanted to send it certified to get a signature for proof of payment, because it was a substantial amount. I called both Mr. ** and Mr. ** many times each looking for somewhere to send the payment for signature. Midland sued me for a $7000.00+ debt that they claimed I had with Chase Bank, which also included legal fees and interest. I owed Chase about $2000.00 and was paid up with them. Midland took me to court anyway. I went to court (alone) and represented myself. The first thing I told the judge was that I had no business with Midland and my paid up debt was with Chase. I then asked the judge if I could see whatever paperwork Midland had on me concerning the so called debt. He asked Midland's lawyer to show it to me. She must have thumbed through a zillion pages dozens of times but could come up with nothing.
She told (lied to) the judge that she must have left the papers on her desk. The judge immediately saw right through her and dismissed the case. I was in there less than 10 minutes. I left smiling. Best feeling in the world. Don't let them intimidate you. Fight for your rights and demand they show you evidence you owe them money. They are a disgusting group of bottom feeders. Called about an account opened in 2000, last payment was in 2014 they told me, then they told me it was in 2005. Either way told them that was not my account. Given the facts, the statute of limitations for Indiana is way past. The only way they can open a legal action is if YOU AGREE to a PAYMENT! This starts the account active again. They called me at my work, which is against the FTC rules. They say they have sent me letters about this. They say they acquired the account in 2008. Tricks and lies because it was an India fellow from Colorado who transferred me to a India fellow in California. If you block the number they will just use another one. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION! I did give them my address because they didn't have anything correct, and that is all they got from me.
IF I did have an account with Citibank, they have NO paperwork for it, the account is PAST the statute of limitations for civil in Indiana. They pick up dead accounts and try to get them back into the system with threats and harassment. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION but try to get theirs and contact a lawyer if they keep calling. Some States let you sue them, check yours. Do turn them into the FTC. Midland Credit Management comes from a long line of credit collection businesses that have had to close down because the Federal filed suit against them and they keep changing their names. Must be a pretty good business for them to continue.

I was told over the phone that I could "settle" the debts of 3 different accounts for about 1/2 of the original balances. One account being nearly $900. I felt immense relief. I called today and the literally told me that this "settlement amount" I agreed to and what is in plain view was not really a "settlement" just what I "agreed to pay" and I still have the original balances subtracted from what I have already been paying upwards from a year ago!
I am so frustrated and I really feel misled by this company and have no idea what I can do to end these debts. Outside of feeling literally lied to and misled. To know that what you have been sacrificing for nearly a year wasn't really true--just a ploy to get you to pay in full--an amount you know you agreed to settle is really disheartening. And I honestly cannot believe they can actually find so- called employees to work there. I have been recently sued by these flea bags but what gets me is where is THEIR PROOF. I only was made aware of this petty lawsuit when my employer was served with garnishment papers. After running to the courthouse to investigate and plead my case the judge was completely oblivious to the "false" claims made by these people on their attempts to serve me.
One went as far as to state they confirmed with my neighbor but yet they cannot provide what neighbor it was. I DON'T KNOW ANY OF MY NEIGHBORS nor do they know me. How would one know if I was the person in question. Ironically, they found me no problem when they went to serve me garnishment papers. DAH - why didn't you try that in the first place?? Been with the same company for over 2 years. So now I am dealing with an overpayment which everyone of their bottom feeder employees state - "we have a 10 day business hold as that is our policy". Who gives you the right to hold money that does not belong to you.
On top of it, my garnishment was released back on 8/8 and I still HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND. I am so over these freakin idiots. I have filed a complaint with the AZ Attorney General's office and today I will be filing a complaint with the FTC. These lazy good for nothing scathing rip off degenerates need to be stopped. What they do and how they do it is completely unethical. Where is the proof??? The courts now rely on the simplicity of "the defendant was served by alternative means"? Please explain that one. They are ridiculous and I will make every possible effort to unravel their obvious violations and file whatever means necessary to close them down. What is their PURPOSE??? To all who are having unsavory experiences with Midland Funding, LLC. This collection agency is comprised of a bunch of ignorant bottom-feeders. They bought two accounts I once had with Barclay Bank five years ago. I disputed both accounts with Barclay Bank and refused to pay anymore payments on the two credit cards. Mudland (yes, MUDland) Funding, LLC bought the two accounts several years ago and have been bothering me ever since. I told the bottom-feeders at Mudland that I had disputed both accounts, and requested that they cease bothering me. They did stop bothering me, but in their contemptible and spiteful manner of doing business; are reporting my two disputed accounts to all three credit bureaus in their sleazy effort to harass me and affect my credit scores.
On July 21, 2016, I finally had had enough of these bugs and I filed a formal complaint with the Office of the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. I have been dealing with this fraudulent company for years! First of all I had a First Premier Bank credit card. I also when I applied for card accepted the credit protection for pennies on the dollar in case I became ill, lost job, etc. Well this was opened up over 11 years ago. In 1996 I became disabled in a car accident and had actually 3 credit cards with the credit protection on them. Anyways I received forms for my doctor to fill out and sent them in. I was denied the credit protection service I paid on monthly. Fast forward I couldn't pay credit cards and well stopped paying as I paid for years for the protection in case of such instances!
This has been over 7 years and MCM still contacts me, threats to have a sheriff come and serve me with a court, calls to my grown son stating I will be arrested. Well I searched them and now know the facts. The debt is past the 7 year mark in California and needs to be taken off my credit reports. You must be subpoenaed by law if you get a letter. It's false! You can sue them for false credit reporting on a debt. Look into your states of statutory debts and how long it can stay reported on your 3 credit bureaus.
They keep reaging years of last payment in order to keep trying to collect as the limit to collect is from last payment received. So if 7 year mark was in 2011 they reage account that I last made a payment in 2014 so in CA it's 7 years from last payment! Thus making it look like account is still under CA laws and less than 7 years so they can collect! They are being sued by many states. I've tried telling them about my credit protection plan I paid on monthly and they want to know with whom. I state when I applied for card and got approved it states "would you like to purchase credit protection" and I hit yes. It directs you to a second party, he'll. This was over 13 years ago. I don't know who they are! I haven't made a payment in over 9 years!
Ok fast forward. I'm not worried anymore as I know they file fake court papers and remember you must be served personally! It's all a scam. Now the past 2 months they contacted an ex of 16 years looking for me, then my brother got a call stating they are charging me criminally! I say bring it on! Again they are being sued for many reasons, robot calling, calling relatives, threading calls, false reporting and much more. So if you get a call always write down date and time, record if you know how. I don't know how to do it on my phone. If they threaten you that you will be serve say "ok I'll be waiting. Here's my address!" I actually called back after they threatened me with that and stated that I'm on my porch and still waiting!
Again don't worry about a court notice in the mail as it must be served to you personally! Record, or write down date and times and if it's a robo call = automatic dialing! And check your credit reports. Get your 1x a year report for free at I believe ** or google it up, and get your report. Ask for validation of debt, when opened, when last payment was received, etc. Write your state's attorney general, the BBB, and also free subscription to a company like lawsuits. I came upon it when I googled MCM and signed up for free. It states all the lawsuits going on with such companies. I actually qualified with MCM as I entered my phone number and now I am part of the settlement as they use robo calling! So don't be scared like I was years ago crying to everyone that I was going to jail! Fight back. I'm just trying to clear up my credit reports to buy a house! Good luck.

I received a summons requiring me to be in court in less than 14 days from Midland. Apparently they bought a debt that was written off from Amazon. What bothers me is I have never had a Amazon credit card. States it was opened Jan 2013 and last payment of July 2013. And written off Feb, 2014. I have had an Amazon account for over 10 years and have always paid with my debit card from my bank. This company are crooks. I NEVER once received any information pertaining this debt or even 1 phone call. There is no documentation with the summons showing any type of proof. Midland bases itself out of Minnesota so how are they able to even sue in the state of IL??
I do plan on fighting this and will not have a judgement on my Credit. It pisses me off that they can even do this when I have never had any dealings with this company at all. I should turn around and sue them for emotional stress, and the fact they went to my soon to be ex-husband's house. So how can he accept a summons for me when I do not live there? They served him and not me. I do not get how that is even legal??

I called this agency after receiving a call about a debt that I had with Amazon, whom I'm assuming sold the debt to Midland. I called to try and settle the account by establishing some sort of payment plan and lump sum payment later on. I informed them that I would be recording the call for my records as they do and they were ok with it, but then they kept hanging up on me. I called 4 times in one day and each time they would "transfer" me to someone, but then would just hang up. I talked to Ricky ** (if that is his name) and he was not helpful and even hung up on me while I was trying to negotiate with them.
These people are not interested in working with you, they want to try and get their money without even working with you first. They want to go straight to punitive measure and make you out to be the bad guy even if you are trying to work with them. I am going to be seeking legal assistance to see what can be done as I am a student and do not want to have this lurking in the back of my mind. If you deal with them make sure you take copious notes and record the call if you can.

I didn't give it to them and the lady just transferred me to who knows where and didn't even say anything, I just ended up hanging up. I am tired of them trying to call and if it is regarding my Best Buy account they shouldn't be harassing me anymore because of the 7 year statute of limitations on that account. Call today from a foreign gentleman regarding a "personal matter" insisting I return call TODAY. I tried the toll-free number left with my 80-year-old mother and a female answered and said she had not called, didn't know the gentlemen that called and had no extension with 5 digits and then hung up. I retrieved number from caller id and a male answered this time. He wanted Social Security number, address, phone numbers etc., but refused to give any identifying information on himself?
I explained I was going to terminate the call, and he explained I owed them $164 from a debt from 2002. After googling this company, they have 3 lawsuits pending from Attorney Generals in New York, West Virginia and Colorado. The Attorney General in Florida is collecting evidence to start a class action suit. They have over 1600 complaints unresolved with the Federal Bureau of Consumer Affairs and that was just one google hit? I don't think a $164 unsubstantiated claim from 14 years ago should be on their radar at this point.

Fast forward a year, we get notice for a full blown trial at court the day before the trial. No warning, no papers served, nothing. They insist they served the attorney so it wasn't their problem. Midland Credit is the worst. I was making timely payments on an old Best Buy credit card and they still put a judgment on my credit report. They said the reason they put the judgment on my credit report was because I didn't sign a form and send it back to them. They never sent me a form to begin with. Then when I asked to have my recorded conversation reviewed by a supervisor, the supervisor then says I agreed to send in the form, she heard it on the tape. When I asked her to hear the recorded conversation she said, "We don't do that." So now my question is why would I make payments every month on an account that Midland has now reported as a judgment and significantly dropped my credit score? I am so done with this company and their debt, if I am going to have this on my credit report, what is the incentive to finish paying?

It seems to me that this company is just after filing lawsuits and winning by default of judgment by the consumer not replying to the lawsuit. They almost caught me in this trap. Here is my experience. I had a card with Best Buy that was charged off and bought by Midland Funding. The very first contact I had from Midland Funding was by John **. I told him that I wanted to take care of the account and that I could pay $50 a month. He told me that he could not accept $50 a month. He requested I at least pay $100 a month. I explained to him and told him our financial situation. I asked if I could send in $50 until things improve and he said he will not accept any payment less than $100 and he will file a judgement against me. He told me the only way to avoid lawsuit was to pay $50 today and automatically draw out $100 a month. He scared me into making that arrangement even though I did not have the funds to do that.
He was very rude and aggressive. The $50 came out of my bank account and the next month when they attempted to draw $100 out of my bank it was not there. Just like I had already told him several times it wouldn't be because we did not have those funds. He tried to call me a few times but I knew he was unwilling to work with me to where I could pay on the account, and I didn't want to be scared into making a payment obligation I didn't have again so I did not answer my phone. After that I did not hear back from them for a year. On July 29th, 2015 we were served a lawsuit at our home at 8:45pm. I called Midland Funding first thing in the morning on July 30th and told them that I wanted to pay on this account. I told them I could pay $50 and they told me they could not accept it. The only thing they will accept is payment in full, over 4,500 or $1800 down and $100 a month.
I told them I don't have that. They said they could mail me a Hardship form to fill out and send back and after it's approved by their attorneys I "may" be able to get a lower payment. This was if I did not reply to the courts regarding the lawsuit. I expressed concern of them just trying to stall my reply to the court so that they can win the judgement by default. The person I talked to told me the hardship is going in the mail that day and that I would receive it in 2 days and could fax it to them. So I would have plenty of time. According to the lawsuit I have 14 days to reply and they are aware of that. On August 4th I had still not received the forms. I called Midland Funding again and was then told they never sent the forms. He say they will be sent in "sometime" but can't tell me when but it will be greater than 10 days.
They are very unethical and I caught them purposely trying to get me to not reply to the court on time. When I told the guy I will be contacting the court in the morning and I have notes and they have recorded calls where they lied to me about mailing the hardship papers on the day I first contacted them. He then tried to stop me from contacting the court again by saying I could pay $100 that day. I no longer trust the company at all so I told him, "No, thank you. I will be contacting the court." I hired an attorney to deal with this company. If you get sued by them, do not trust them. Hire an attorney right away!!!

The first thing ** says is, "This call may be monitored or recorded.” Then he continued to speak to me, as if I was my coworker, even after I stated that I am not. He then demanded that to be connected with my coworker, about a personal business matter. I tell ** that this is his place of employment, and that if his company needs to reach him that they need to contact him on his personal phone, during non-business hours.
** continued to demand to speak with him; I affirm that I cannot connect them to my coworker, without more information (I was informed by the FBI and the Consumer Protection Agency after several other scammers calling for the same employee to always obtain a phone number and physical address where the company can be reached) the caller refused to give me any information, and instead told me what to say to him, "I don't need to give you my address or phone number, just tell me you can't connect me." I say, "well sir, I can connect you if you can give me more information: your phone number, physical address where you can be reached and the nature of your call today." ** again fought me on this, resulting in my asking him to remove our phone number from his call list, and to please never call again, then I hung up.
In the past received phone calls from "managers" or "supervisors" of these "companies" where they rage at me, literally screaming at me, telling me that I am the scammer, even though I am in no way related to the call other than I answer phones, they insist that I am going to go to jail, they insist that I owe them exorbitant amounts of moneys, and that the police are coming after me. Laughable. But also seriously illegal, and frightening to anyone who is trying to pay off debts or manage their credit. When I asked my coworker if he had been doing any business, or even heard of MCM, the answer was... NO. Not a surprise.
These companies get their information from other companies' records that are no longer in use, records that have been expunged, or debts that actually do not exist, or exist for someone else with the same or similar name. They specifically prey on minorities, women, and the elderly who could be easily intimidated into paying money that they do not actually owe. Anyone who does this as a living is heartless, and probably only earns minimum wage. Have some integrity. Have some self-respect, **.
If you receive any calls like these, please, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the Consumer Protection Agency, the Internet Crime Complaint Center with the FBI or file a Crime report with the FBI. Get all the identifying information you can from them. If they will not give it to you, demand that you be removed from their call list. Let them know you will be filing a complaint with the FBI and that if they ever contact you again without providing any legitimizing information they'll hear from your lawyer next. If you don't have a lawyer, tell them anyway.
NEVER pay any money to anyone (even if you may think you owe moneys) until you confirm that they are in fact a genuine collection agency. Any legitimate collection agency will provide you a real physical address where they can be located, a phone number to contact a real person, a claim number, and they will also send you a document detailing all of the information regarding your "outstanding bill." If they cannot provide this for you, they are fake. They are scamming you. You will lose your hard earned money. You will not be able to get it back, because you consented to being charged, or what ever, and they have your phone call recorded to prove it. If you however need to access that recording, they will not be able to find it. PROTECT YOURSELF.

So, they won't let me make a payment & they won't take the payment. I am out $434.58 (the first payment) and I can't find a way to get them to help or find another way to make a payment. So much for trying to do the right thing.

I received a rapid succession of harassing phone calls on 1-6-15 and 1-17-15 from this firm. It turns out they were trying to reach someone else. Nonetheless, they pretty much went up to the act (FDCPA) and broke many of the provisions. Please review CAREFULLY the STATUTE. On 1/23/15 I sent a demand for settlement and a copy of the proposed lawsuit. After reaching out to them to verify receipt, they stated that someone would get back to me in writing within 10 to 14 business days. Because of the significant body of case law going against them, I am persuaded to extend the self-imposed deadline and see if they do, in fact, contact me as promised.
They are difficult to get information from. They sub out boiler room ops to India (also against the act). Most companies elect to settle with me rather than face litigation. The average settlement is $1,500. I netted approximately $7,000 in 2014. Do not misunderstand: I pay my bills and have no negative information in my credit file. From time to time, collectors call or send letters, usually violating one or more provisions of 'the act.' I would be happy to email drafts of proposed complaints to anyone interested in seeing how it is done.

Several years ago Congress gave bottom level collection companies the green light to come after decent people by giving them notice to correct interest with a window of time to raise the rates. This happened on every credit card that I had raised to as much as 25%, even though they were all current, and I found myself without funds to pay even the minimum on all of them each month, so I continued to pay what I could and then didn't on what I could not.
Midland looks for people like me and sued me in small claims court forcing me to hire a law firm that I couldn't afford but advertised they had many causes that never went to court with Midland. Now I know why. They encourage to settlement, which I did for half. Was that the end of it - NO. I received a 1099 for the unpaid amount sent through the law firm that I hired to represent me from these people.
So why am I upset, when I guess this could be considered income? These people paid pennies on the dollar for retailers uncollected debt, but they get to go after the full amount plus a large amount of late charges and fees. I feel they made a large profit on the half that was very hard for me to pay. No one told me to expect this so I am telling you what happens when you settle with Midland if you have an attorney or not. Be wise, not a dummy like me.

Midland was calling and harassing an elderly relative of mine. They told him they were looking for me. He gave me the # off his caller ID. I called them, asked why they were calling him. They denied it saying how did I know it was them calling. I informed them by just putting their number on a search engine it has hundreds of people reporting it is MCM!! Silence on their end. I informed them not to be harassing a 95-year old man. They then send me an offer by mail to settle my account. Option 1 get 40% off, Option 2 20% off, or Option 3 call to get more options.
I sold my kitchen table and chairs and chose option 1. Got a money order and wrote on money order "Option 1 paid in full". It said I had till 1/7/15 to pay. I sent the payment and saw money order was cashed around the 21st of December. Ok, I had a debt, but could not afford to pay it. The debt was sold several times, and in Texas they have 4 years from the time you make a last payment to the debtor to sue. Check guidelines for your state. They sent me letters, and when they did not get a result they sued me. My advice would be to get an attorney to handle it anytime before or after they sue, just don't let it go to court without an attorney. They will place a judgement against you and then you will owe the whole thing. I hired an attorney, and my attorney said they would either get it resolved completely or with minimal owed. The attorney accepted monthly payments from me, and they resolved the debt for 10% of the amount owed, payable in monthly installments to MCM. This was all worked out satisfactorily as I can afford to pay the lesser amount in monthly installments. I feel like MCM would have worked with me but I don't believe I would have received this result. I would not recommend doing this on your own. Go ahead and call the debt attorney to see what options you have. They deal with this daily.

This scumbag outfit has been calling me for several months trying to collect on a debt. They will not tell me who the debt is with until I verify my address and full social security number or they will rattle off a generic name of an organization I have never heard of when I press them for information. My answer is always the same: “If YOU want me to pay you, you have to prove I owe by sending me proof in the mail to the address you have on file.” This includes the original debtor and their account number. I refuse to do business like this with a company I am unfamiliar with on a bill which they will only tell me the amount and not who the original debtor is. Most of the time, I get hung up on before I can finish telling them it is their responsibility to provide the information in writing.
Several times, they have had a woman from Texas call me trying to intimidate me into paying by saying she is with the legal department and will have me arrested within 24 hours unless I make a payment. I'm still waiting for them to come and take me away and this was 4 months ago! The last time she called, I asked her where she was calling from, and she said "from your county in Illinois." When I pressed her to tell me which county, she said it was not necessary to do that since she was from "the legal division". When I told her the last time I checked, Houston Texas was located in Texas and not Illinois, she hung up on me.
Don't pay these guys even if it is a bill that you owed in the past. The original debtor will get nothing and you will only get harassed to pay more and more. If you do feel you need to do business with them, demand information about the account in writing via registered mail. Never give up any personal information. Inform them that you are recording all telephone conversations with them up front. When I have done this in the past, they have hung up immediately.

For months, my husband & I have been receiving debt collection calls (several times a day) for a debt incurred with Zales Jewelry company and T-Mobile. We have never made any transactions with Zales Jewelry company and have always been doing business with AT&T wireless. During 3 different calls, agents had divulged to us the complete name of the debt owner with my husband's first & last name that matched (but the middle initial is wrong) and so are the last 4 digits of the social security number. Other information they linked us to is a previous address in Phoenix, AZ. We told them that we never lived in that state.
Nevertheless, even after clearly stating we are not the individuals that owe that debt and asking them to remove us from their list, the calls keep coming. So we have completely ignored their calls. Thanks to modern day technology, the answering machine screens the calls for us and even while watching TV, we can see who the incoming calls are from. I had been through this once before and got an atty who filed a claim against the Debt Collection Agency and they also had to pay $2,000 fine. Of course, I never saw my portion which was supposed to be $1,000, but at least that company had to send me a letter stating that I did not owe them any money and they would not report negatively on my credit report.
The majority of these companies are scams, according to the attorney general who I also contacted about this situation. The first time I was contacted by a company like this, I almost did send the money! Thank God I went online and found out my rights and an atty who took care of these issues. Now, I need to get this company off my back. Received 2 letters at my home address even though I never had an account with the Original Creditor (Citibank/Shell in my case). Got scared and checked my credit report for free online, verifying again that I NEVER had such an account and my credit was fine. Call their number 800 282 2644 - needless to say, got an Indian call center on the other line (operator confirmed). I asked how long I had that account. Operator, put me on hold, and most likely gave a good guess. Of course the guess was impossibly wrong. Unless they give credit cards prior to birth.
Since I did not want to deal with it further, they wanted to label the account as "dispute" but needed a "police report" to be faxed to them. Who has time for that?! When asked how to get a police report, they "redirected" me, as in just put me back in the queue for someone other random operator to deal with. Second operator was also sympathetic with my case but unwilling to "close" my account, only being able to "disable any future phone calls or mail" (very suspicious). Then was asked if there was anything else they could do (obviously no). I recorded the call for legal purposes.
My guess: I doubt the review indicating someone was sued is true - probably imposter companies way of manipulating these reviews into scaring more fear into INNOCENT people. This company has somehow found your address, but is now using it illegally to scam INNOCENT people. My recommendation: IF YOU GET ANY CALLS OR MAILS FROM THIS COMPANY, DO NOT PAY. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR DEBT WITH THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR. VERIFY, VERIFY, VERIFY. Although I am not 100% certain they are scam artists, my experience points to it. Don't panic.

Asset Acceptance is now Midland.
However, I told him about the fact that due to the winter that we've had in Ohio that my electric bill is way higher than normal. I became aware of this Midland Collections after I began to build my credit. While being married, my wife, most of the time, secured credit in her name. After the divorce, this tactic back fired on me. I had a couple of small debts on my credit report and hired a credit repair company. I started to pay off these small (under $500) debts and then the rebuild co somehow got them taken off of my report. All except for one. I wrote to this company asking for verification of the debt, sent via USPS registered mail with return receipt. It went unanswered. The debt was then sold to Midland Collections. The Repair Credit company has disputed this debt for over a year now, so have I.
Midland reports this as a collections on my reports every 2 months, destroying my credit FICA score. I have sent them letters asking what the debt is for and all that I am ever given is the name of the company, Verizon Wireless. I have asked when this debt was incurred and have been advised in the year 1991. They supply an address where I did live during that time. I have requested a full Verizon account number, any and all supporting documentation showing signature, payment history, date account went into collections, all that I believe is supposed to be given. All that they ever give to me AND to to reporting agencies is MY name and address and amount I apparently owe. I am led to believe that the collection agency must provide all of this information. I have requested it; now they say that I only had 60 days in which to dispute this, REALLY!
As of this date, the collections is still reported to all 3 of the BIG reporting agencies, and I have been advised to possibly file an 'Identity Theft Report' with the police, to possible get rid of this. I really do not want to do this! Due to the fact that this is the only thing that apparently has turned up on my credit reports that is disputed. As of this date, I have since filed a complaint with the Federal Fair Claims office stating that this collection is over 10 years old, that I have never received proof of the debt other than them saying "you owe it". Around 2 years ago I started receiving calls from Midland Credit Management. They claimed I owed almost $1,900.00 to Verizon wireless. I told them at that time that I have never had an account through Verizon. The account was in my name, but not my address. I freaked out thinking someone had stolen my identity. I asked them to send proof of the loan (i.e. the contract, the phone calls that were made, etc) so that I could track down who may have stolen my identity. I had to send them written notice that I disputed the bill, which I did. They claimed they never got it. So I did it again, and this time I sent it certified mail. Someone signed for it, it was not very legible, but it was signed for. They claimed they never got it.
To date, the only thing I have gotten from them is a letter that states the amount I owe and the account number. I contacted Verizon. They have no information for me with that account number. Today, I received a call from MGM, and I must note that it came in as a cell phone number. It was listed as Wireless Caller 917-635-1090. I was very polite to the lady, I figure she is just doing her job, I explained everything to her. Finally after going in circles for a half hour, I told her that at this point, I've done everything I was required to do by law. That I don't believe this is my bill and I refuse to pay. She offered me a settlement of only half the bill paid in 3 payments. I said no, I'm not paying it. I told her that something is not right and asked her for the address to the corporate office, which she gave me, and then I asked her for their business ID number.
She kept trying to give me her extension. I said "No, the business ID number." You claim the business is from California, and in order to run a business in California, you have to have a business ID number. She told me to wait a moment and another agent got on the phone, a man this time. When I got to the point where I asked for the business ID number, he hung up on me. I've done some research, and the company does have a website, but I still don't believe they are legitimate. The "debt" is on my credit report, and I want it removed, but at this point, I'm not sure how to get them to take it off.

I get no less than 4 calls per day from these people, sometimes more. I have no idea who they are (other than their company name). I have no bills in collection. I am not late on a single payment to anyone. They have no business calling me several times per day, at all hours of the day. They call anywhere from 6:00am to 11:00pm. My return phone calls to "take me off your list" are not answered, directing me to a "full voicemail box" that will not take a message. This is harassment, clear and simple, for no legitimate reason whatsoever.

Well, I only noticed that recently but there are no dates on the letter except for the due by 2/16/2013, in which I didn't even have the letter at that time. Anyway, my situation is from T-Mobile; my bill was $75. It went to the first creditor and I got a cancellation fee which is false because I wasn't under contract. The amount came to $275.34. Then MCM bought it and said that I owed $623.23 and that I canceled two lines. Well, I never had two lines for the seven years I had them. So after reading all these posts, if they take me to court, I will be there bright and early. As far as the hassle with the credit score, I am stubborn and so I will haggle with them until I get the results I want. A $75 bill went to $623.23? It's craziness. He explained that because the account was active for two years, it would be difficult for me to dispute it. My credit reports show no delinquent accounts. Century Link, who now owns Embarq, has no record of a delinquent account under my name or the account number Midland gave me. I called Midland back. Midland called me 4-5 times a day for months, for what much later turned out to be four separate accounts, none of which were mine. There were months of hang up and robo-calls. No message ever left on answering machine, and if I picked up, there was just dead air. The caller ID said "1 Unavailable". It was impossible to call back and impossible to learn who was even making these harassing calls.
Midland's phone company is AT&T California, and should be equally liable for this constant harassment, as they knew or should have known that MIdland was using this caller ID to cloak its illegal activities. After months and months of this, when I was being treated for cancer and was very ill, and really needed my rest during the day, I picked up and there was actually a person there. He started harassing me about a debt that was not mine, owed by a person who was not me, and repeatedly refused even to identify the business.
Finally, he said it was "MCM" but would not provide more information. I learned only through the internet that it was Midland Credit Management. I got a customer service phone number which was continually busy, but kept dialing and dialing and finally got a person, who promised to remove my number but never did. This happened over and over. I have an attorney now but even after the attorney told them to stop.
The calls still kept coming sporadically for quite a while. Midland has offered $750 plus attorney fees to settle, but they have included unacceptable provisions in their proposed settlement agreement, including excusing themselves from compliance with various laws and a gag order. Apparently, the gag order is important to them, so I am taking this opportunity, while they decide whether to delete the objectionable provisions, to blab all over the internet about what they did to me and are clearly doing to many, many others. I am also working on reporting them to regulatory authorities. They are nationwide, so I am going to work my way through every single state and blab to the regulators what Midland is doing. Make sure, if you do make payments, you have the contract on hand. Don't let them tell you to just "trust" them with their words. Be smart in how you're going to clear the debt. When I canceled the payment plan, because they wanted me to trust their words only, I was told I would not receive any more discounts. After I voided and canceled the plan, I asked for a confirmation letter or number. They told me that they could not provide it for me.
Make sure when you give them payment info, do not give them your checking account number. If you decide to cancel the payments, you will have to go to your bank and close your account.

Midland Credit Management claims that I had service with Verizon since July 2010 which is false. I have been with T-Mobile for the last two years. When I first received service with Verizon, it was around August 2007. I asked for the family plan and with that plan, I was given four phones free, for the four people in my household and if I wanted a different phones, I would have to pay for them. I also ask for the two phones that were given to my children to have blocks on them from downloading and texting. The only thing my children should have had was the ability to call and receive calls.
Well, Verizon did not put the blocks on the phone and wanted me to pay them, on my very first bill, 950.00 plus dollars. I asked why my bill was so high; with the family plan my bill per month should have been just $189.00 or somewhere in that range, take a little, give a little. Verizon was charging me for each phone separately, which causes the bill to be way more than what it should be. I had to go through this each month for about 3 to 4 months. I really got angry when the person on the phone was trying to tell me that I asked for my family plan to be that way. I went back to the store and I said that I am tired of this back and forth with this family plan that I purchased.
So, Verizon at this time is trying to tell me that I owe them this money and once I paid it then they will have no problem changing it to what I wanted. Verizon had my family plan twisted, on top of everything, I showed them my plan that I signed on, it still did not help, even with the proof in their face. I was told several different reasons why my bill was so high and none of the reasons was because of them making a mistake on my family plan. Now, they are on my credit report asking for $1,550.00. They are charging me for terminating the contract, $345.00 per phone and I had 4. I feel like Verizon knows what they are doing and they know that people are going to try to make these payments because no one wants to have bad credit. I feel like there should be a law to STOP companies from putting false information on people's credit report without the truth from both sides being questioned and evidence is shown. Now, Verizon sold this amount to Midland Credit Management and they are asking me to pay this.

And they cannot threaten to damage your credit when it has already been damaged by other vultures! Where's the incentive? I may be in better shape in one way than other folks. My older mobile home is paid off, so is my car, and my computer. My only payments are for space rent, and utilities plus car and home insurance. That's it. And I will not allow other vultures to threaten and/or harass me!

I have an old debt from probably 8 years ago from an SW Bell bill. I received many, many phone calls from Midland Credit, anywhere from 7 am to almost 9 pm. At all times, the number comes up as "unknown" and they do not leave messages. I have asked them to stop calling my phone and to just correspond by mail, but they continue to call at all hours. Recently, they sent me a letter stating that I owed $147.88 and that if I paid this, it would settle the account. I paid this and now, they claim that I owe them an additional $98. I have no idea what they are claiming now. I just want them to stop calling. They typically call 6-8 times a day. I feel, as I have paid this debt, they should not be calling anymore. They claim otherwise. The male I talked with actually asked me to, "be quiet and listen to him". He actually then said if I paid today, he would reduce the $98 to $50. I then told him that I had already paid $147.88 and this was all of the bill that I was aware that I owed. He told me that I did not make the settlement date. I then told him that I had mailed it in time and he then said he cannot help when they cash the check. When they finally cashed it, the date had passed.

I called in behalf of an account that I used to have with Aspire Visa. They refused to give me their phone number. They didn't offer any help. After being put on hold for over 30 minutes, they either transfer you to a machine or they disconnect the call. One of the representatives even started laughing, and he made a comment that my accent was very funny.

I received a letter from MCM requesting a settlement on an account with CITIBANK USA. I have never had an account with CITIBANK in my entire life! MCM made an offer to settle this balance by using an Acceptance Certificate requesting that I enclose a check for $2,567.60 for a debt reported in the amount of $10,270.39 which I have never incurred nor have I had any credit with Citibank past or present.

I received a collection letter in the mail from MCM for a past due account at United Credit National Bank. I've never heard of this bank, or had an account with them. I called the number on the statement, and when the customer service rep answered, he was unable to help me. He then switched me over to another CSR who was the rudest person I have ever encountered. All he kept stating was that if it wasn't my account, why would they have my information in their system. He couldn't even give information on where the account originated from, bank address or anything. My payment of $50 is due on 3/1/2009, and I'm not sure what to due with this. If someone has an answer, please help.

I checked my credit this morning, and it said there was activity in 10/08 regarding a collection for Verizon Wireless (which, I might add, is nearly five years old, and I refuse to pay it because they canceled my service without sending me my first bill, but that's another story). I have not had any dealings (and certainly never paid a cent toward the debt) since 2004, so how are they allowed to update it nearly five years later?

They sent me a letter of debt from 1990 Citibank that I have no affiliation, MCM Account #**. When I visited the website, it shows my address with an incorrect NYC home phone number, **. Where did they get this info from? I am worried that they will damage my credit and may repossess or freeze my accounts as stated by others on the rip off report website.

Constant harrasment. I have informed this company this debt was included on a Bankruptcy filed in 1998. they have purchased the account for collection purposes and harrase me late at nite after 9:00 pm or at 8 a.m. They have placed this account on my credit report and this is a bougus account. I have served my 10 years as required by bankruptcy laws. In the future they should purchase accounts that the consumer has not previously taken care of. Please stop this company from calling my home. I have also filed a complaint with TRW & Equafax to have this account removed from my credit report.

In 2001, I was contacted by this compnay regarding a debt, which I disputed. They later sent this disptued debt to a law firm (Mel Harris& assoc) in 2005 I disputed it with this law firm which later froze my bank accounts & all assessts. I hired an attny whose was able to settle the account (which was not mine) for $500.00 and now Midland is coming after me again, attempting to garninsh my wages. I already paid this, it was never mine to begin with. But needed access to my money.
My bank accounts were frozen in 2005, for 2 months I had no access to money, I am a single mother. I had to pay for a debt that wasnt mine, I had to hire an attny to get this resolved and now they are trying to collect on something they settled on almost 3 years ago. My wages are set to be garnished beginning with my next paycheck 7-15-08. I just rcvd a letter from the sheriff on Saturday.

Received ltr. from company offering to settle an old debt with Citibank for a discount on balance. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CREDIT CARD WITH CITIBANK, and I am not a deadbeat. I have a credit score just slightly under 800 and take pride in my good credit standing. I called the company and they told me that I HAD to pay the money, and that it was a card account I had from 1987 -- 21 years ago!!!!

I contatced a credit repair service back in November 07. At that tiem they found Midlan Credit on my report and disputed it for me. At that point they decided to reactivate the accounts on my credit. I have no idea whoe they were, I wrote letters etc.
Well 8 months later of getting nowhere, lo and behold I went to apply for a mortgage. This was the only thing on my credit that showed as a new unpaid account. Because it was an FHA loan, they requested it to be paid prior to lending. I did so, received a letter of receipt of payment from Midland's attorneys and Midland refuses to celar up my credit reports. They claim they never received the money from the attorneys Riddle and Associates. I'm stuck.
I had to pay 3100.00 to be able to get the mortgage for my home.

I am writing, as an honest citizen and taxpayer, to inform you of a violation of my consumer rights, in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Midland Credit Management out of California has violated my rights by not adhering to the rules and regulations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. They have refused to respond to my credit dispute and to this day, they refuse to remove an inaccurate item from my credit profile. (I sent them a credit disupute on 9/4/07 and a goodwill attempt/follow up on 9/15/07).
This inaccurate item has been a burden and has caused me to be rejected from employment and has hindered my ability to prosper and sow into our economy. For example, I cannot get approved for loans with reasonable and affordable interests rates, thus I cannot purchase a home.

Threatened to send to an attorney. I offered to make 50.00 payments a month and she refused. She said I was in no position to barter and I had no rights. It is showing as a new account opened in 10/2006 with an unpaid balance of $8077. The account number listed does not match any account number that I have had though First Consumers National Bank.
Everything was favorable for me to qualify for a new home that I have been working tediously on my credit in the last year to make this happen for my family. I am now faced with loan companies telling me to be approved this debt must be shown as paid.
