I have set up a payment plan with them over 5 times now. My bank pays them with no issues on my bank's end. But every month they call to tell me that it didn't go through. Now they want my debit cards over the phone. I told them no way. I've set up payment with them multiple times. I have the payment plan in writing. Issues in their computer system are not my problem. Beware.

I had a credit card that they purchased and then sued me in court for and got a judgement against me. I called and worked out a payment plan and worked with a good collection customer service person. I have made a total of 4 payments that have been on time and per our agreement and have two more small payments left. Well this month August 2020 I came in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and had to get tested myself and had to self isolate which meant no work.
I called on 8/13/2020 and asked if my payment for this month could be extended to another date. The man I spoke to was rude and said I had a judgement and could not break the arrangement. I said, "I am not breaking an arrangement but asking for an extension." He rattled on again and I said, "You are not listening to me and "I am not breaking my arrangement." He then said and I quote "I take offense to you saying I am not listening." This guy is a grown man and he takes offense to telling him he is not listening! Seriously he needs to man up and act like an adult instead of a toddler.
I finally got through to him after explaining it to him like I would to one of my preschool students in my class and he understood after I explained it in a way that he could understand. Wish I had gotten an attorney when this all happened and had them work out something in my favor. What turned out to be a 300.00 credit card bill turned out to be over 1000. I had tried to make payments but fell on hard times. This company takes people court left and right. It seems to be what they thrive off of.

I received a legal document from this collection agency, earlier this year. Until then I never heard of Midland Credit Management. After calling an attorney we took this company to court. It took an appeals court judge to rule in my favor. So as of this writing, I don't have to pay these bloodsuckers anything. Take my advice and Sue this company. It won't be long before they turn tail and run. Because they haven't a legal leg to stand on.

I have attempted contact to the correct department 4 times in two days to notify them the debt has been settled. They are still sending me a letter advising me of the unsettled debt. Nobody called me back. I asked to speak to the person who has a signature on the letter I received and I was told he does not take any phone calls. I really cannot understand how a company cannot respond in a timely fashion.

I was blessed to receive some extra cash and decided to clean up my credit report by paying off most of my bills. I had two to three bills that Midland Credit had purchased. Called and paid off. Great right? No! There was an old bill that was over 7 years old that actually had fallen off credit reports. When I got to work on Monday morning I had received all these calls so I calls the number not knowing who it was; guess who? Midland Credit. They were trying to get money for this bill. I told that they were not going to get a dime from me for a bill that is almost 10 years old and also one of their reps told me that I did have to pay it because it was an old debt that they cannot go after.
I asked the young lady why did she called me on my work number because just paid them off and they should have my phone number. She said nothing but sorry and hung up. I get in the mail a refund check for forty-something dollars (not going to cash it). I look on my credit score and they put out there that I owe them fifty something. I am about to dispute all this. They have made fico score drop 5 points because of their false reporting. Thank God I keep all the receipts.

Just when I/we thought ride sharing company had poor customer service- oh try this one!!!! Poor customer service as they never have a straight answer. Always deviating your question as if it was a pole hole on a highway. They operate in a fashion that makes consumers question their credibility. First time they contacted me, I was like oh boy- here we go again with the fraud calls. It took me weeks to investigate this company and was still not convinced. They have a 1 star review and that should speak for itself. I mean do we know how hard you have to be working to get a 1 star review? Unless one only has 1 customer but it is not the case here.
Why do we still trust them to operate and manage people's account? On a scale of 1-10: I will pick 1 as one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with. Maybe we have forgotten the definition of customer service: Customer service is the provision of service to the consumer before, during, or and after a purchase. Company have customer service not only to support their products but also to assist customers by answering their questions, needs and inquiries in relationship to the product. We consumer are not or should not have to jump through hoops just to obtain information about the unfortunate service that we have to go through. People just don't chose to go to collection. I did not chose this company to contact me about my credit card debt but got here due to a wrong turn just like many people (in many respect).
I personally think that this business has a flaw- especially with their customer service team. Dealing with them is like drilling a hole on boat in the middle of the ocean to fish. Best paying off the bills to avoid them at all cost or even acquiring service elsewhere if possible is a lot ideal. If you value peace of mind over all else- pay them and get rid of them to avoid useless frustration and waste of time. For what it is worth, you are better off having an attorney or a debt consolidating company deal with them than trying to resolve an issue that has been recognized by many others (customer or not). Moral of this: Do not get into debt if you are unable to pay it for company like this will make you wish time traveling was a 100% possible and available to common public. Best regards all.

My wife had an old credit card debt that had been sold to Midland Credit Management. She got served with papers saying that they were suing her. She called them and attempted to set up a payment plan with them, but they wouldn't work with her on a monthly payment. Today I found out that our bank account had been cleaned out, including all of our savings to satisfy this debt. I feel like this is illegal, since neither her or I was notified of this by either a legal document or even a phone call. Any advice out there??? Is this Legal??

When I called to make the settlement payment. They said no payment is due in full now. Because I modified the arrangement by calling to make the payment on that day because of with the holidays to make sure the payment is in my account. They said since they couldn't take it out as we agreed that I owe the balance in full.

Midland purchased a bad debt of ours. We were finally able to offer a small settlement amount. We sent our offer in writing, certified return receipt. Company immediately sent us a pre-legal notification, requesting same amount, ignoring our offer. We had requested a cease and desist to call notice, which they seemed to abide by. But we had a small amount of funds to offer, so we phoned them (and all our other creditors who worked with us). From level one to the top manager (supposed top manager Kathi **, and her downline person Richard **). These two people kept me on the phone for 52+ minutes, trying to shame me. I really felt abused. They did not want to accept my offer. They simply should have refused me and moved on. I'll go to the court hearing, no fear there, but they sure tried to intimidate and shame me. I hope their recording was actually recorded, because I'm sure otherwise their documentation will be a probable lie.
Today Mr. ** phoned again, and I finally had to say to him, "You will no longer intimidate me. We are done." I HAD to hang up, for he and his supervisor just held me over a barrel and said same thing over and over to me like accusing abusers. It seems a bit scary to wonder who trained them to behave this way, and what is in their own personal closets of terror that they would try to shift it over onto me and all the other people they phone. All the other creditors we have worked with have been highly professional. Not these people. It was like a crime scene. It this seems insulting, I am sorry, but I hope you share my experience. Thank you.

About 13 years ago I opened a credit card with another bank. I used the card one time to buy gas for my car. I received the bill and it said I owed a balance of over $600. I called them and they said the charges were processing fees. I told them I was holding the paperwork I signed for the card and these so called processing fees were not in the contract. I told them I didn't want to card. That I would pay the amount I put on the card in gas and I expected them to cancel the card and the processing fees or I would report them to the BBB. They agreed and took my payment for the gas and said the card was canceled. They never closed the card and bounced the debt to collection agencies ultimately ending up with Midland whom contacted me last year.
I explained to them it was a bad debt but they wanted proof, proof from 13 years ago. I then acquiesced and told them I would pay a lower amount. I told the very rude person I wanted the deal we came up with in writing and then I would send a bank check. He stated he needed a good faith payment right then and there. I told him I would not give him my banking info and he would have to send me the paper work and agree in the paper work that this would satisfy the whole debt and that when the money was paid they would have to close the debt out with the credit bureaus. He insisted on me paying right there with my bank information.
Finally after being talked over I hung up on him. Months later I get served to go to court over this minor debt. I decided I wasn't going to waste money on a lawyer or miss work for this. Yesterday I received paperwork that they won the court case and my employer is allowing them to garnish my wages. Why do the court systems protect these extortionist?

Today my bank account was 500.00 less than yesterday. I called my bank to ask why I see a hold on my account for 500 plus another 75 on hold. I was told that there was a Legal hold placed on my account for 500.00 plus another 75 the bank charges for having to process the legal hold. I asked my bank who put a legal hold on my account and she said it shows as the LA County Sheriff Department. She said the sheriff sent the legal notice to Chase. So she said I will give you the phone number and you can call them to find out what this is about. So I called the toll free number my bank gave me and the person answers Midland Credit Management. It's not the sheriff dept.
I asked the person on the phone why there is a legal hold on my account and how can you do that when I never received any documents stating that you are going to be taking the funds out of my account. They said because I had agreed when originally paying the 1200.00 debt and I defaulted and I still owe 500.00 and since they haven't heard any resolution from me that they have the right to file suit and there is a judgement against me so that is why they can put a legal hold on any assets or funds for the debt.

They filed a suit in the Monterey Courts which is scheduled for June 29, 2019. I frankly don’t care and will not show up for this hearing. I know that if a judgement is awarded to these crooks they can’t collect from my bank accounts. I only get Social Security which under Law can’t be garnished. I have sent proof this account wasn’t mine and spoken with their Lawyers. Nothing has been resolved except them telling me the case is closed and settled. So why didn’t they close the court hearing? I received a notification that they had taken over a debt. I wrote a letter the very next day and mailed it to the address on the notice. I received my letter back today with a post office label saying that it was undeliverable as addressed. How can that be when I used their address from the notice? Now it is more than the thirty days that they allow for disputes (my original letter was mailed out on April 5 and today is May 14). I don't know what I can do at this point.
I wasn't actually disputing the debt itself, I wanted to confirm the amount owed and set up a payment plan once it was confirmed. How they could feasibly go after me for the entire balance at once and I absolutely have no way of paying that (I have a very limited income and too many bills). I can't believe that they have an address on correspondence that is incorrect which makes it impossible for people to file a dispute with them in writing. There must be something that can be done to stop them.

I had some old credit card debt that Midland bought up, nothing huge. They were merciless in calling day and night. I got served court papers back in February of 2018 - they sued me for $1000, wasted money on an attorney to do it, too lol. Watch your backs, because it's legal for them to get a judgement against you, and you'll never know it (luckily, I did). If they are threatening to sue you in court, and they do not INTEND to sue you, get a lawyer asap. In my case, I VOLUNTARILY called THEM and settled I think two other cc accounts, on my own. SO them suing me was ridiculous. I explained that our pay went down for a time, and we couldn't make our payments, but are fixing things!
Companies like this research addresses, and will send something to an old address knowing it won't get to you. Anyway, I paid off my court-appointed payment schedule months ago, and just yesterday 3/19/2019 I got a letter from Midland in the mail for around $233 to pay off an old credit card. I made arrangements to pay 6 payments of $38 to settle this. Long story short, turns out it was MORE MONEY they added to the already-paid court case from 2018! I googled Midland, and sure enough have seen many reports that they are adding money to people's accounts. I think they threaten you with the court paperwork, because they said "there's a judgement against you in court"... So they know you'll pay it!
I'm gathering all my bank statements, etc and going to fight these people. They are out of California, but hide through international means. It's not fair, and they need to stop. They've been sued by the Federal Government, and several private citizens for violations, and still they operate under shade. Make sure you log on to their website and screenshot everything they have on you, all your payments, etc. EVERYTHING! Keep detailed records, phone calls (get names, although we know it's not "real" names), times etc. Document everything! And KNOW YOUR RIGHTS when it comes to these debt collectors. Midland doesn't play around, and they WILL get a judgement if they can.

My Best Buy account was taken over by Midland Credit Management, who took me to court for the funds owed. I had contacted Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) to assist me, prior to the court date. I made my payments monthly through CCCS. In September 2018, I made my final payments to CCCS for all my bills owed. CCCS sent all my pay-offs to my creditors on September 24, 2018. They were all posted and my accounts cleared, except for Midland. Although Midland received over $1,200 as my pay-off, they are still showing that I owe them.
CCCS contacted Midland and was told that the funds were posted to an incorrect account and it would take 4-6 months to get it corrected. That is unacceptable. It does not take that long to move the funds from the incorrect account to my account. I sent them a letter on December 7, 2018 to post my pay-off and clear this account through the court. The best advise I can give is do not ever answer the phone if these guys call. After daily calls with no voicemail I decided to answer. They began talking about an account I never opened and was already disputing. The account was opened almost seven years ago and I've been trying to get it off my credit report almost that long. I explained to the heavily accented guy that this was not my account and he tried to have me log in to their website to look at "my account." I refused as it is not mine so he told me to get a police report, which I did, and write them a formal dispute letter, which I did and mail it into them, which I did.
Two business days later the same guy called me back and said that what I sent was insufficient. I said, I mailed it two days ago, it's not possible you even have it yet. So I asked what else they needed and all he could tell me was it was insufficient. And of course again began trying to get me to pay. After I called him out for lying about having reviewed my letters in the mail, he said they would review them when they got them and call me back. Meanwhile I looked on my credit report and there is a new collection account, just opened, the first day I answered the phone call from these scumbags. Moral of the story, do not negotiate with terrorists. If I had never answered they would not have put this on my credit file and it would have soon dropped off my report.

Starting in December 2017, I began receiving phone calls from a number of different states. I chalked them up to being wrong numbers. Since I sleep days, I don't answer the phone. The calls started increasing in number, still appearing to be from different states. After Googling the numbers, I saw that nearly all of them traced back to some company called Midland Credit Management. I've never heard of them, nor do I owe them a dime. My bills are all paid and current. I didn't get an 800+ credit score by not paying my bills, after all. I sent them a certified letter telling them to stop calling me, that they've obviously got the wrong number. It didn't do any good. If anything, it made it worse! I finally had to get my phone number changed, which was a huge hassle. The calls stopped for about 2-1/2 months.
Suddenly, yesterday, I got a call from them again on the new number, which I have not given out to anyone except my immediate family, my dentist, and Walmart's grocery pickup service. Unless Walmart or my little small-town dentist is selling people's contact information, there is no way this Midland company could have my new number. It looks like I'll have to change my phone number again, but if they're robo-dialing numbers, changing my phone number again will only help temporarily. As mentioned, I've never even heard of this company, nor do I owe them a dime. I have a very hinky feeling that this company is a scam, operating on the guise of being a legitimate company, preying on people who might be easily intimidated or harassed into paying a bill that they don't even owe.

It seemed professional and I didn't notice any red flags off the bat that led me to believe it might've been a fraudulent company. As it is, I'm still not sure, but the reviews here have certainly made me feel better about that decision.
I set up a double payment plan, going for the long haul on a payment system for 120 payments, once every month of a little more than $8 to take care of it over time and thought it'd be fine. Looking back on the terms and conditions though, I recall them saying they don't have to report to the IRS or credit tracking companies about these payments. Perhaps that should've been the big warning, but I decided to go through with it, not giving it much thought at the time because it's not the first time I've heard that, even from businesses here in the US.
The day I set up for the first payment when I was next paid, I got an alert from my bank that it was a foreign processing transaction from India. They labeled it as fraud and couldn't do anything about it. Immediately things about it started clicking, so I looked through their stuff again and I started noticing the holes. Eventually, it led me to this website to be absolutely sure of who they were and what they were doing. Suffice to say, I'm no longer processing a payment through this company and will be closing the account as quickly as possible, though now my information is floating in their system. It pisses me off, but I'm glad at least they attempted to take the amount they said they would. Not a larger amount or I'd be more peeved. As a side note, supposedly they had my information on file, but even my account shows *none* of it. It's a small detail and may be nothing, but it's still of note.

First of all MCM called my unlisted phone. Don't know how they got it. About an account that I am disputing through Credit Karma. I am saying it is not mine. I asked for them to send me a statement of the charges and where they were charged before any kind of arrangements are going to be made. They agreed. Within 10 day I did not get a statement but a bill with 3 different options to paid and the bill had been switched from my name to my husband's name. I am not sure that is even legal. I wrote them and told them that I did not receive the statement.
They switched the supposed bill from mine into my husband name and they are trying to collect a bill that is in dispute. Still no statement. Just the same once a week I get a paper with the 3 options to pay and they keep calling me. When I see that it is them I do not answer. I am not paying a bill that I am disputing. Not even sure it is mine and it is almost time for that to be discharged at any rate. It is almost the 7 years coming up which is why they are trying to collect on this. It is the calling me almost every other day 2-5 times a day on my unlisted phone that I do not know how they got.

This company call center has obviously moved overseas. Recently I closed a secured credit card because the card switched banks. Somehow my small balance of $65 ended up in collections with Midland Credit management. I settled the account for $98 so I could get my $800 deposit back. I called for verification that the account was paid in full and that letter to be sent to me. The letter arrived with an account # to MCI/World Com. A company that no longer exists for almost 20 years and a company I never did business with. I called to see if it was honest mistake. When asked to speak to a supervisor, I sat on hold for 5 minutes. I called back and the young lady told me. "What do you expect from us?" This company is now overseas pocketing people's money. Just got a phone call from these scammers. I feel horrible for these people that get scammed by these guys... THEY ARE NOT A REAL DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY. First of all, if you owe money, the bank you ORIGINALLY borrowed from will try to contact you and only them! They send letters first, and my key is never answer a phone number you do not know. Screen it by letting it go to voicemail. Call back and never say the actual word yes to anything. My first clue this was a scam is that they couldn't tell me what they were calling me about until I gave them my social? That way they could look me up in some sketchy computer program that gives them all my info... HELL NO! Stay far away from this company as possible. For those dealing with them now, try to cancel your payments and close out any checking accounts they are taking money from so they won't be able to do so anymore! I hope the police/FBI get a whiff of these guys...

But they kept calling me so I read the reviews here and told him to cancel the card he used to pay them. He didn't do it in time and they took out 2 different transactions in the amount of $650 from his bank account without his permission. AND they are still trying to call him and collect money. We will be contacting an attorney and filing a complaint. I am not sure why this company is still allowed to practice in the state of Arizona. I called them and asked for a 10 day payoff amount and they proceeded to bully me and tell me they weren't sure if they could close the account. (UHMMM YOU'RE JOKING!?) They then asked me where I'm getting the money to pay it off and why I haven't paid it in the first place and asking for every detail of my life when I said we got into some financial issues they kept pressing on and on. He said that I had been paying for my PUD and Comcast (how they can see that I'm not sure) but I felt very violated.
I finally told them that if they wanted their money they would give me the 10 day payoff amount and who to make the check out to and where to send it. He then got very rude and asked if he would for sure have the check in his hands in 10 days. I said "We will be sending it out in the next 2 days but I don't know the exact day you will have it in your hands." I am absolutely dumbfounded how high and mighty these people act. I worked with two other debt collectors who really helped me pay off past debts. They treated me with some dignity, and made real arrangements I can deal with, and I was grateful for them. One of them even reduced the amount of the debt, took a large chunk off because I was cool with them. So I'm not trying to "get out" of paying, I, like so many others, are just tapped out. He then proceeded to go into a script about a debt and legal action; despite me repeating, "I cannot have non-business related discussions on this line." After a moment, I stopped him and said, "What is the name of the company you are calling from" and he told me Midland Credit Mgmt.
Here's where it gets fun. I informed Mr. ** that he had the wrong "Doe". There are two employees at my company with the EXACT same name. He tried to tell me that 'it happens all of the time, and it's not illegal since we have the same name". I told him it is his responsibility to perform the diligence to assure he has the correct person. He has now disclosed financial information about one employee to another at a company, and continues to call on a business line - despite being asked not to.
I gave all of the information to my co-worker so she could follow up, but told her I would write a review myself. First of all, I do owe money on this particular credit card but my outstanding balance is def not 1,000 dollars. They pressure you to give your card/bank info in order to set up a "Payment plan" in order to rid your debt. Real debt collectors don't call asking for your card info, they send letters first. I played along with the representative although I knew it was a scam from jump.

What is even nastier is they went through my friend requests on social media and are using those names in their calls. I do not use social media for anything other than private messaging since it is very hard for me to use my phone due to poor eyesight and lack of fine motor control so the computer allows me to communicate and is my biggest connection with the outside world.
If you are being pursued illegally, write a letter to your State Attorney General. If they are as good as mine your troubles could be over. Within a month of writing about another agency, my problem was totally eliminated and removed from my credit report due to their illegal practices. Disability income, SSDI, SSI, VA, etc. is often judgment proof, check to see if your income qualifies. You can also use an attorney that offers one visit complimentary which is what I did with an extra promise that if I was going to file bankruptcy I would work with him. Being totally bedridden limits me from jumping through the hoops these places demand and you don't have to let them walk all over you.
Never agree to pay something you don't believe you owe. Before even talking with them you can educate yourself on what to say and what not to say, then stand your ground. Check your credit scores at least annually. You can get one free report per year and if you create an account at other credit monitoring places you can check it as often as you want. I check mine and hubby's weekly and receive regular emails telling me about events to which I want to stay informed.

Midland Credit Management, LLC or also known as MCM should be considered a harassment company versus a debt collection agency. I recently changed my address and went into the MCM payment portal to update my information. I have received calls in the past and unfortunately in a bad spot and don’t have the extra funds at this time to pay. I have assured them though I’ll make minimum payments whenever I can. Which I’ll make small payments on the portal when I am able to do so.
After I updated my address on the MCM portal I decided to pay a min amount at the same time which I accidentally put my account number in wrong and it didn’t go through and MCM never notified me so a month later I found out and didn’t have the extra funds any longer. I got a bill in the mail at my new address which brought my attention it wasn’t taken out and I made a mistake entering my account since the bill I got was the same amount it was before. They now have sent me bills for that amount left and right, I get the same bill/amount 2-3 Days a week with these cut off dates to contact them days before I get it in the mail or the day of. They started calling my phone 4-5X a day and it will start at 8am on the dot and they’ve called as late as 830-9PM at night.
I decided to ignore them and I’ll pay when I pay since they put a bad taste in my mouth with all these letters/bill being sent constantly with the threat to contact them by so and so date and all the calls at ridiculous times of the day. After them calling me multiple times a day along with sending me the same bill 3X a week, I called and told them I made a mistake with entering my account and I unfortunately didn’t have the funds any longer and I will again pay when I’m able to pay.
The guy told me why did I attempt to make a payment 3 months ago if I don’t have the funds? I explained if they contacted me on the issue of my account info being wrong in a decent amount of time I would have been able to fix it and still would have had the funds to pay it, but they decided to wait over a month so by then I no longer had it. The calls calmed down and stopped after I called and told them to keep sending me a bill each month and I have everything set up on the MCM portal so I will make payments when I am able to.
Finally it was quiet for a bit maybe 2-3 weeks. Then I get a text from my husband while he was at work asking me if I knew I owed $581.00 to a debt collector for a Walmart credit card I had in 2014! I refreshed his memory on when I originally got the credit and what we used it on since he did know of it he just needed a reminder. I asked him what made him bring this up and he told me the debt collection agency MCM that took it over called him and asked him my location and he asked why and instead of saying I owed a debt they told him all with how much I owed and what it was for etc.
He gave them my cell which he snapped at my husband they already have it and I’ve contacted them, but they figured to contact my husband to maybe push me to pay off or he could give funds to pay off debt! He told them he works a job daily 7am to 7pm and can’t be contacted during those hours and for them not to contact him again and my personal phone number. 3 days later my father in law came over and mentioned to me MCM called his landline and they asked him if he knew I owed them $581 that Walmart turned over to them to collect. He told them it was none of his business and asked if they had my personal number, which they lied and said no so my father in law gave them the same number I gave them personally, my husband gave them too and the guy told my father in law they have that number and have spoken to me and told him how I can’t pay at this time and asked if maybe he can help out!
Again I’m open book and close to my father in law so he also knew of this Walmart card and it went to collections so no biggie, but it’s the fact they are contacting my family and telling them all the details and they have a way to contact me. My cell which is the number I gave to MCM is under my husband’s name so I am assuming they looked up other numbers associated with his name which how they got my husband’s cell number. Plus he is a 3rd and has same exact name as his father so that’s how they probably got my father in law’s landline number and assumed it was another of my husband’s. I’m waiting for my 2 sister in law’s next to tell me that got a phone call from MCM since their cell numbers are also under my father in law’s name which shows the same as my cell under my husband’s.
I recently contacted the family lawyer about this and plan on looking into if there’s a class action lawsuit in the making against MCM for this reason. I have the call date/time and length of the call he originally got and spoke to them and then a text from him time stamped a minute after he hung up with MCM asking me when have I had a Walmart card and do I know I owe $581, which I asked what made him bring this up. My father in law’s working on getting the call log for the day MCM called his home with the date and time and length of call since he also spoke to them. I might tell them to go ** themselves at this point and make no payments at all. Hopefully I’ll get the chance and enough proof to bring this to court and have them be paying me. Calling my family, fine. But telling them how much I owe and from where and asking if they can make payments since I can’t I can only assume is ILLEGAL!

That Oral surgeon's Financial person "borrowed" money from Lending Club in my name, to pay for the surgery. I didn't know this is what she was doing until after I got the bill. I thought I was making a payment plan with the oral surgeon's office. Well, she told me the bill would be $47 per month. I told her that even though I don't get paid at all during Summers and sparingly during the other months because of the nature of my job, I still figured I could handle $47 per month. Well, a bill came from Lending Club (???) for $157 per month.
I couldn't handle it. I paid what I could. Eventually, they send the bill to Midland. Midland's employee faked that I said I was okay with automatic withdrawals, which was a lie, so they snatched money out of my bank account. I told the bank that I never agreed to direct draft because I never knew when I would have money in the account on a consistent basis. The bank believed me because they could see my account. The bank got my money back from Midland. I have tried to pay Midland twice. The payment expected was $50 but I chose to pay $81 today.
The system wouldn't take the payment! Florence, at Midland, said that it was because I was making a second $81 payment and the system didn't trust two payments of the same amount. (???) She told me to pay $81.02. I paid the $50 the system expected. They are trying to collect money but their website won't take two of the same payment amounts and won't take extra money on top of the payment amount they expect. They have deceitful employees and their online system has problems.

I received several collection notices from Midland Credit Mgmt, in Sept 2016, over an expired, long paid debt. Because I'd previously dealt with them, I took legal action this time around. Unsurprisingly, months later, they responded to my attorney with several letters or notices, of the legal action as being "too cumbersome" to continue pursuing, and backed out, for avoiding court action. No further word or harassment from them since.

Recently, my income was reduced to half of what it was due to a job change. As a result, I had to stop paying on some lines of credit. Midland has picked up those accounts and now all I get are automated phone calls and recently have been getting "Pre-Legal Notification" letters in the mail. Also, today my parents received a phone call from Midland looking for me. The letters I got in the mail today (7/14/17) are dated June 30, 2017 and they state I have until July 15th to contact them regarding the accounts. I got home from work at 515 pm and cannot get through by calling the number provided on the letters. Really?
I get the letter today in the mail, giving me until tomorrow to contact? I used to work in debt collection and know that they cannot contact me on a cell phone without getting my permission and they also cannot legally be contacting family members, friends, etc. without having permission. Can anyone help me with options? I see there have been Class Action lawsuits against this company for these practices. I searched and cannot find any current ones to enroll in. I am in Pennsylvania. Believe it or not... I have had good experience with this company. At first they were jerks... only if you call and talk to them. Do yourself a favor and make the payments online!! They give you options on how long you want to pay off your debt... just go to their website and make an account. Hit make a payment and choose your options anywhere from 1 to 120 months to pay. I made the mistake by calling. The jerk put me on plan for 103.34 a month. If I did not call I could have made minimum payments of 35.00. If only I had paid my balance on my last card. I would not be in this situation! So for people complaining about this company, you went about it the wrong way by calling them. :(

I received a phone call today from Amelia of Midland Credit Management, San Diego (858) 221-0191 re: a Walmart account that she claimed was past due. Amelia was requesting payment of over $400 on an account which I had paid $351 (limit was $300. Walmart closed the account because of late payments). Amelia then stated I had a balance due on an HSBC account of over $3000 due. I remembered this card. It had been charged off in 2004. The debt is over 14 years old. It was well beyond the statute of limitations of the courts for civil judgment collection.
I explained this to Amelia. She spoke to me very politely. She went on and on about the fact that her company had purchased the debt and the money was owed. I explained to her the laws of the land having be through the process with the IRS. You learn quick when the IRS wants to collect. The debt is still outstanding and owed to that company them. You will always owe the debt until it has been paid. You owe the debt morally. Legally there is a statute of limitations in most of the 50 states which has a time frame to collect through the courts. The IRS has seven years to bring a case forward or they cannot collect. They came to my house six years and eleven months and twenty-two days and served me then they put a lien on for the estimated taxes on everything I had in site.
Back to Amelia, she decided to get her manager, a nice fellow named Jake to speak to me. There was nothing Jake could say to me that would make want to pay a 14 yr old bill charge off that was out of the statute window for any type of legal action. He tried to make me state that I owed the money and should repay it. I said the following "Jake, what did you learn today?" He responded "Did you think about the SOL when you first used the card?"
My answer "Today you learned that your company gambles when they purchase debt that is outside of the court system that requires a person to do the right thing morally. The laws have been put in place for both sides. I would like to pay you but legally, I do not have to and since the item has been charged off my credit record has been cleared. Now, I must ask your company or agents who represent Midland Collection Management not to call me again regarding this matter. I believe you said you were recording this call in an attempt to collect a debt. I am reporting you to Consumer Affairs."

On February 22, 2017, I received a certified letter explaining that I was being sued in civil court for $1500 for an old credit card debt with Sears. I was appalled, not knowing that I could be sued for such a paltry amount. Being both disabled and poor, but not stupid, I realized something was wrong with this picture. Sure enough, Midland Credit Management is a disgusting excuse for a legitimate company. They are not legitimate, in my opinion, firstly because they go by a whole slew of different company names designed to confuse people and keep consumer affairs off their slick, dollar-greased backs. MCM is also known as Midland Funding LLC, Asset Acceptance LLC, Encore Capital Group, Midland Acquisition Corp, Midland Acquisitions Corp and MRC Receivables Corp. That in itself shows deceit in my opinion.
Secondly, I collected the phone records from my home phone and determined that they called me at all hours of the day and night, after explicitly being told that I was disabled and they were disturbing me. In one year they called my house 190 times, which is in clear violation of Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Finally, I counter sued, or "cross claimed" a suit due to Midland's inability to furnish admissible debt documents, such as the credit card application itself and their complete disregard for my cease and desist letter. They contacted me 5 times after they received my letter and all of a sudden they were calling my house for another individual whom I have never heard of.
Clearly, these vultures are hoping you won't show up and they get a default judgment, that you will show up and perjure yourself by admitting to the debt, if that's the case, and that you won't take the time to look up your own rights, collect your own evidence and prepare your own defense. Yes, it takes hours upon hours to educate yourself as to the legality of the individuals suing you, but it's worth the fight. Don't roll over and let these shysters abuse you... fight back! Stand up for yourself! Fight the false power and have no fear.

WOW... What a surprise to receive a 1099C after I negotiated and paid off my debt. MCM picked up my bad debt from Wells Fargo for pennies on the dollar and then negotiated a 50% payoff on it. I was never informed that I would be 1099'd on the dismissal of debt. Had I know this I would of let them take me to court or negotiated a different payoff amount. My 1099 is equivalent to me paying back $5035.00 in taxes. No small chunk of change. The calls to MCM (many of them) are useless. They just put you on hold and read their script with no help whatsoever. What is my recourse. As a consumer who has never had a debt collector come after me, how was I to know? They will not send any documents showing or stating that they told me this information. They filed a court order to take me to court and then I negotiated. Does anyone know what course of action I can take? Has anyone experience this before?

Midland sued me for a $7000.00+ debt that they claimed I had with Chase Bank, which also included legal fees and interest. I owed Chase about $2000.00 and was paid up with them. Midland took me to court anyway. I went to court (alone) and represented myself. The first thing I told the judge was that I had no business with Midland and my paid up debt was with Chase. I then asked the judge if I could see whatever paperwork Midland had on me concerning the so called debt. He asked Midland's lawyer to show it to me. She must have thumbed through a zillion pages dozens of times but could come up with nothing.
She told (lied to) the judge that she must have left the papers on her desk. The judge immediately saw right through her and dismissed the case. I was in there less than 10 minutes. I left smiling. Called about an account opened in 2000, last payment was in 2014 they told me, then they told me it was in 2005. Either way told them that was not my account. Given the facts, the statute of limitations for Indiana is way past. The only way they can open a legal action is if YOU AGREE to a PAYMENT! This starts the account active again. They called me at my work, which is against the FTC rules. They say they have sent me letters about this. They say they acquired the account in 2008. Tricks and lies because it was an India fellow from Colorado who transferred me to a India fellow in California. If you block the number they will just use another one. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION! I did give them my address because they didn't have anything correct, and that is all they got from me.
IF I did have an account with Citibank, they have NO paperwork for it, the account is PAST the statute of limitations for civil in Indiana. They pick up dead accounts and try to get them back into the system with threats and harassment. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION but try to get theirs and contact a lawyer if they keep calling. Some States let you sue them, check yours. Do turn them into the FTC. Midland Credit Management comes from a long line of credit collection businesses that have had to close down because the Federal filed suit against them and they keep changing their names. I called today and the literally told me that this "settlement amount" I agreed to and what is in plain view was not really a "settlement" just what I "agreed to pay" and I still have the original balances subtracted from what I have already been paying upwards from a year ago!
I am so frustrated and I really feel misled by this company and have no idea what I can do to end these debts. Outside of feeling literally lied to and misled. To know that what you have been sacrificing for nearly a year wasn't really true--just a ploy to get you to pay in full--an amount you know you agreed to settle is really disheartening. After running to the courthouse to investigate and plead my case the judge was completely oblivious to the "false" claims made by these people on their attempts to serve me.
One went as far as to state they confirmed with my neighbor but yet they cannot provide what neighbor it was. I DON'T KNOW ANY OF MY NEIGHBORS nor do they know me. Mudland (yes, MUDland) Funding, LLC bought the two accounts several years ago and have been bothering me ever since. I told the bottom-feeders at Mudland that I had disputed both accounts, and requested that they cease bothering me. They did stop bothering me, but in their contemptible and spiteful manner of doing business; are reporting my two disputed accounts to all three credit bureaus in their sleazy effort to harass me and affect my credit scores.

I have been dealing with this fraudulent company for years! First of all I had a First Premier Bank credit card. I also when I applied for card accepted the credit protection for pennies on the dollar in case I became ill, lost job, etc. Well this was opened up over 11 years ago. In 1996 I became disabled in a car accident and had actually 3 credit cards with the credit protection on them. Anyways I received forms for my doctor to fill out and sent them in. I was denied the credit protection service I paid on monthly. Fast forward I couldn't pay credit cards and well stopped paying as I paid for years for the protection in case of such instances!
This has been over 7 years and MCM still contacts me, threats to have a sheriff come and serve me with a court, calls to my grown son stating I will be arrested. Well I searched them and now know the facts. The debt is past the 7 year mark in California and needs to be taken off my credit reports. You must be subpoenaed by law if you get a letter. It's false! You can sue them for false credit reporting on a debt. Look into your states of statutory debts and how long it can stay reported on your 3 credit bureaus.
They keep reaging years of last payment in order to keep trying to collect as the limit to collect is from last payment received. So if 7 year mark was in 2011 they reage account that I last made a payment in 2014 so in CA it's 7 years from last payment! Thus making it look like account is still under CA laws and less than 7 years so they can collect! They are being sued by many states. I've tried telling them about my credit protection plan I paid on monthly and they want to know with whom. I state when I applied for card and got approved it states "would you like to purchase credit protection" and I hit yes. It directs you to a second party, he'll. This was over 13 years ago. I don't know who they are! I haven't made a payment in over 9 years!
Ok fast forward. I'm not worried anymore as I know they file fake court papers and remember you must be served personally! It's all a scam. Now the past 2 months they contacted an ex of 16 years looking for me, then my brother got a call stating they are charging me criminally! I say bring it on! Again they are being sued for many reasons, robot calling, calling relatives, threading calls, false reporting and much more. So if you get a call always write down date and time, record if you know how. I don't know how to do it on my phone. If they threaten you that you will be serve say "ok I'll be waiting. Here's my address!" I actually called back after they threatened me with that and stated that I'm on my porch and still waiting!
Again don't worry about a court notice in the mail as it must be served to you personally! Record, or write down date and times and if it's a robo call = automatic dialing! And check your credit reports. Get your 1x a year report for free at I believe ** or google it up, and get your report. Ask for validation of debt, when opened, when last payment was received, etc. Write your state's attorney general, the BBB, and also free subscription to a company like lawsuits. I came upon it when I googled MCM and signed up for free. It states all the lawsuits going on with such companies. I actually qualified with MCM as I entered my phone number and now I am part of the settlement as they use robo calling! So don't be scared like I was years ago crying to everyone that I was going to jail! Fight back. I'm just trying to clear up my credit reports to buy a house! Good luck.

After dealing with them the first time, we would receive twenty calls a day or more from scammers, we think they had something to do with it. They've tried to get payment from my relatives too. I've had a sheriff come to my door twice. I have to find someone now to watch my kids so I can go file another response to this mess. I'm tired of it.

So apparently this company is collecting money from a debt that you have. When you contact the company from which they say you have the debt from they know nothingness about it. They give out your information to anyone, I now have a problem where my information is being passed around to random people who they think are related to me in some sort of way. This is a scam and if in fact you supposedly owe a debt, they are breaking the law by speaking to other people about your personal account. Call your bank before you even continue to speak to these people.

Midland Credit will file judgements after the stats have run out. I fought with them for 2 months before getting the stats' date and they filed 7 months after. Get a hold of the credit agencies and have it remove due to that fact if it applies to you. I think the other thing that helped was I told them I was going to show up to their place and have them arrested for illegal activity. That's the best I can do to help others

Yesterday afternoon, I received a call (from someone with a very heavy foreign accent, and a very Anglo 'name') who said he was a representative of Midland Credit, and that he wanted to talk to me about an $800+ debt on a (mumble-mumble - may have been Lowe's) credit account. I do not know, and have never had, a Lowe's account, and in fact every account I or my husband have is either fully paid off, or is completely up to date. I told him that, and then told him I would not be defrauded by them, and was going to hang up (and did so).
This evening, I got another call, again from a person with a heavy accent and an Anglo sounding 'name' who told me he was from Midland and wanted to talk to me about my 'account'. I blasted him, telling him that I refuse to be defrauded, to take my number off their 'sucker' list, and hung up. It will be interesting to see if they continue to pursue this. They are using the phone number 866-580-4780 for the calls I have received. In checking my phone's 'missed calls' directory, apparently they also attempted to call me on 11/22, and on 11/29. I am keeping a file on this and any future calls, and will pass it along to the NYS Attorney General's office.

I received a summons requiring me to be in court in less than 14 days from Midland. Apparently they bought a debt that was written off from Amazon. What bothers me is I have never had a Amazon credit card. States it was opened Jan 2013 and last payment of July 2013. And written off Feb, 2014. I have had an Amazon account for over 10 years and have always paid with my debit card from my bank. This company are crooks. I NEVER once received any information pertaining this debt or even 1 phone call. There is no documentation with the summons showing any type of proof. Midland bases itself out of Minnesota so how are they able to even sue in the state of IL??
I do plan on fighting this and will not have a judgement on my Credit. It pisses me off that they can even do this when I have never had any dealings with this company at all. I should turn around and sue them for emotional stress, and the fact they went to my soon to be ex-husband's house. So how can he accept a summons for me when I do not live there? They served him and not me. I do not get how that is even legal??

I called this agency after receiving a call about a debt that I had with Amazon, whom I'm assuming sold the debt to Midland. I called to try and settle the account by establishing some sort of payment plan and lump sum payment later on. I informed them that I would be recording the call for my records as they do and they were ok with it, but then they kept hanging up on me. I called 4 times in one day and each time they would "transfer" me to someone, but then would just hang up. I talked to Ricky ** (if that is his name) and he was not helpful and even hung up on me while I was trying to negotiate with them.
These people are not interested in working with you, they want to try and get their money without even working with you first. They want to go straight to punitive measure and make you out to be the bad guy even if you are trying to work with them. I am going to be seeking legal assistance to see what can be done as I am a student and do not want to have this lurking in the back of my mind. If you deal with them make sure you take copious notes and record the call if you can.

Midland Credit has called me everyday for over 2 months now, they won't leave a message and just keep calling. I never answered and had to find out the company number through doing a Google search. I finally called them today and told them to take me off their calling list and they said they would but they were also wanting all my information to verify my account. I didn't give it to them and the lady just transferred me to who knows where and didn't even say anything, I just ended up hanging up. I am tired of them trying to call and if it is regarding my Best Buy account they shouldn't be harassing me anymore because of the 7 year statute of limitations on that account. I am furious and want this stopped!!!

Call today from a foreign gentleman regarding a "personal matter" insisting I return call TODAY. I tried the toll-free number left with my 80-year-old mother and a female answered and said she had not called, didn't know the gentlemen that called and had no extension with 5 digits and then hung up. I retrieved number from caller id and a male answered this time. He wanted Social Security number, address, phone numbers etc., but refused to give any identifying information on himself?
I explained I was going to terminate the call, and he explained I owed them $164 from a debt from 2002. After googling this company, they have 3 lawsuits pending from Attorney Generals in New York, West Virginia and Colorado. The Attorney General in Florida is collecting evidence to start a class action suit. They have over 1600 complaints unresolved with the Federal Bureau of Consumer Affairs and that was just one google hit? I don't think a $164 unsubstantiated claim from 14 years ago should be on their radar at this point.

I had to hire an attorney who went to court with them a year ago and agreed to a payment plan. We never received the agreed upon paperwork from them. Fast forward a year, we get notice for a full blown trial at court the day before the trial. No warning, no papers served, nothing. They insist they served the attorney so it wasn't their problem. It was a fluke we found out about the trial and who could even prepare for a trial in that time? They're sneaky, dishonest, snakes.

Midland Credit is the worst. I was making timely payments on an old Best Buy credit card and they still put a judgment on my credit report. They said the reason they put the judgment on my credit report was because I didn't sign a form and send it back to them. They never sent me a form to begin with. Then when I asked to have my recorded conversation reviewed by a supervisor, the supervisor then says I agreed to send in the form, she heard it on the tape. When I asked her to hear the recorded conversation she said, "We don't do that." So now my question is why would I make payments every month on an account that Midland has now reported as a judgment and significantly dropped my credit score? I am so done with this company and their debt, if I am going to have this on my credit report, what is the incentive to finish paying?

It seems to me that this company is just after filing lawsuits and winning by default of judgment by the consumer not replying to the lawsuit. They almost caught me in this trap. Here is my experience. I had a card with Best Buy that was charged off and bought by Midland Funding. The very first contact I had from Midland Funding was by John **. I told him that I wanted to take care of the account and that I could pay $50 a month. He told me that he could not accept $50 a month. He requested I at least pay $100 a month. I explained to him and told him our financial situation. I asked if I could send in $50 until things improve and he said he will not accept any payment less than $100 and he will file a judgement against me. He told me the only way to avoid lawsuit was to pay $50 today and automatically draw out $100 a month. He scared me into making that arrangement even though I did not have the funds to do that.
He was very rude and aggressive. The $50 came out of my bank account and the next month when they attempted to draw $100 out of my bank it was not there. Just like I had already told him several times it wouldn't be because we did not have those funds. He tried to call me a few times but I knew he was unwilling to work with me to where I could pay on the account, and I didn't want to be scared into making a payment obligation I didn't have again so I did not answer my phone. After that I did not hear back from them for a year. On July 29th, 2015 we were served a lawsuit at our home at 8:45pm. I called Midland Funding first thing in the morning on July 30th and told them that I wanted to pay on this account. I told them I could pay $50 and they told me they could not accept it. The only thing they will accept is payment in full, over 4,500 or $1800 down and $100 a month.
I told them I don't have that. They said they could mail me a Hardship form to fill out and send back and after it's approved by their attorneys I "may" be able to get a lower payment. This was if I did not reply to the courts regarding the lawsuit. I expressed concern of them just trying to stall my reply to the court so that they can win the judgement by default. The person I talked to told me the hardship is going in the mail that day and that I would receive it in 2 days and could fax it to them. So I would have plenty of time. According to the lawsuit I have 14 days to reply and they are aware of that. On August 4th I had still not received the forms. I called Midland Funding again and was then told they never sent the forms. He say they will be sent in "sometime" but can't tell me when but it will be greater than 10 days.
They are very unethical and I caught them purposely trying to get me to not reply to the court on time. When I told the guy I will be contacting the court in the morning and I have notes and they have recorded calls where they lied to me about mailing the hardship papers on the day I first contacted them. He then tried to stop me from contacting the court again by saying I could pay $100 that day. I no longer trust the company at all so I told him, "No, thank you. I will be contacting the court." I hired an attorney to deal with this company. If you get sued by them, do not trust them. Hire an attorney right away!!!

I have tried to make a one time payment of 400 just to make them go away. However they will not work with me at all. I have told them this debt isn't even mine. It was taken out by my ex husband but I just want this negative remark taken off my credit report so I would be willing to pay them something to which their answer was basically "Too bad. This has been years of constant harassment, constant phone calls, letters and threats. This company is completely unprofessional and scammers.
