I tried the free POF dating site and when it gave me the option to upgrade, I chose the 1 month subscription but it boosted me to a 119.00 year long subscription without my consent. I have emailed the POF.com site numerous times and have never got a reply back. They took 119.00 from me and I got nothing. I canceled my subscription and did not use the service, I believed I would get my money back or my Regions Bank would cancel my subscription and get my money back to my account but because POF offers no phone support and no receipt of purchase my worthless Regions bank says I was responsible for getting that before I engaged in commerce with POF; although REGION'S BANK did not block the sale for 5 days because they said it was in a pending status. Beware of this site, it has no phone support and will boost your bank account and leave it in pending status for days until your worthless bank leaves you high and dry.

POF was once a trusted and wonderful site. In recent years, however the site has become home to plenty of fake and spam accounts. As quickly as you report them, the fakes return fast. POF takes no preventative action whatsoever against these fake accounts. In addition, I was issued a warning for being a "false reporter" of fake accounts when all of my reports were justified.
I have made some contacts and friends on this site. But the vast majority of accounts on the site are spam bots. POF needs to take a more preventative stance against fraud on the site, and also needs to treat reports as being made in "good faith". That includes taking no retaliatory action against reports because doing so discourages reporting of these accounts and also opens POF and its parent company up to legal action and liability.

I agree with everyone who gave it 1 star. The 5 stars must be fake. I can't judge or comment on the people on it. That is out of anyone's control. BUT POF itself has more roadblocks than any other dating site. To name a few... VERY gender discriminatory. Woman can message as many men as they want to all day and night. Men are allowed ONE (1) per 24 hours. You would think they would want you to be on the site as long as possible. But it's one nice message and poof. That's it for the day.
You can ONLY message women within a narrow age range of your own. I'm talking 5 years younger or older. NO other site does that. Let the OTHER person decide if we may be too young or old for them. You can ONLY have photos of yourself. You cannot have pictures of your favorite or most beautiful places on earth to share unless you are IN them. So I have to selfie stick my face in front of El Capitan Yosemite? The search settings are terrible. So many other negatives about POF that I just don't have time to list them all.

After being on Plenty of Fish for a month or so, I finally paid for 1 month yesterday. The site said I had 130 likes and views, but I couldn't see any until I paid. Of the 40 plus who "liked" me, about 25% were non existing accounts. Even if the like was only a couple of hours old, when I clicked on the person, the account was no longer available. These likes were usually from pretty or desirable women. I think POF uses people whose job it is to send out multiple likes. In that way, we pay just to see all these fake accounts.

I upgraded, complete waste of money, they don't give a monthly option so you have to pay up front minimum $60. Total waste, and it's weird how say if you're 60 and you want to search for younger women, they don't allow it, it cuts you off at like 45 minimum. Um, what if someone older dates younger, or younger dates older? If they are of age, they should have that right, especially if you pay money.... I can't say everything else I'd like to say, but just trust me, go hit the bars, casinos, grocery store, gas station, co workers, this site ain't it. Save your money fellas, I wasted mine.

I've been through many dating platforms over the years and POF is honestly the biggest headache-inducing service that I've used. I've been on their platform on 2 different occasions with little-to-no differing experiences. I spent almost 2 1/2 years on there from October 2018 to February 2021 and all I found were either bot accounts or dead silence. I returned to the service this past April and out of all of the accounts that I've had conversations with, only TWO of them were real people. This service is littered with bot accounts and I get contacted by at least one per day.
Some just flat-out message you saying, "I have snap, add me:____" with either a random name or even one that isn't the same that they list in their bio. Those accounts just want to add you on Snapchat to either sell you an OnlyFans subscription or to get money from you through a money-transferring service. Since the platform doesn't have a certified way to verify that a user is an actual human, this issue persists. Even though I've had issues with other services, at least services like Tinder and OkCupid have ways of verifying that a profile belongs to a real person.
One thing that even stands out that makes these profile look suspicious is when the job description of some users just say "job". If they were real people, they'd list what they do for a living rather than just having that answer in their profile. It's easy to tell when someone is using a stolen photo through a reverse image search, but it's impossible to tell who is real without visiting someone's profile first and it's pretty likely that the account you're viewing is a bot.
I honestly don't know who I can trust on the platform due to this rampant bot issue, which the service clearly has no intention of fixing. And if they did fix it, their real user base would drastically drop due to the high percentage of bot accounts that are littering the platform on a daily basis. How are people supposed to trust a dating platform when there's a highly likely chance that you're just going to come into contact with a fake profile? People go to these services to find a significant other, not to be consistently let down like a clickbait YouTube video. Until POF implements a system that forces users to prove that they're human and not a bot, this ongoing bot account dilemma will never subside. If you want an accurate name to give the platform, replace the F with the letter that's 2 keys to the left of that letter on your keyboard.

Dangerous app. Full of scammers/potential kidnappers. No quality control or verification at all. This app is full of bot accounts and catfishers. They all immediately ask to move to Snapchat and then they try to lure you in with either a relationship (this is a dating app, after all) or a sugar daddy/baby type setup. They all inevitably fail to send a picture of themselves with a simple hand gesture, such as this one.

The truth - as far as my experience - is that Plenty of Fish is five stars better than something like OKCupid or Tinder. It's actually free, except for Likes - you can send and receive messages (the unseen Likes aren't as aggravating because there's no swiping). It's laid-back, not gamified (you search dozens of profiles at leisure. The searching isn't in-your-face invasive swiping. The worries about privacy aren't legitimate, because earnings and birth date, and even name, aren't public. I haven't had any issues with "robots" contacting me. I appreciate the fact that the design has stayed reliably constant, and gives users the chance to feel comfortable with the arrangement, long-term. If one isn't desperate and just wants to chat and get to know people, this site is my pick for a free dating site.

I have nothing against Plenty of Fish. But the people who are on there are Fake and other guys are looking for sex and who cannot man up. Being Ghosted too many times. Why must people getting onto these sites just to be MEAN to honest and caring women???? This world is crazy and unsafe. I am disappointed that it has to be this way. I have had many guys hit up on me but I figure them out for what they are and what they want and then they stop talking to me. I am not on these sites to play their head games. I am not desperate and dumb. I met a guy that was 8 years older than I am and it worked out fine for awhile until I found that his family was a priority over me. I asked him, "Why do you want a relationship if you cannot commit because that is what you told me?" Come to find out he had Bad Credit, drives without tags on his truck and only says one word text messages.
When we talk on the phone he always doesn't have much to say and tells me that he loves me. I was not about to say that after 4 days of talking on the phone. When we got together on our first date he introduced me to his family at the bowling alley. AWKWARD. Then when I get home we both have colds and then we talked and after that nothing from him. I tried calling him and texting him but nothing before he would pick up the phone every time I called him and now he has Ghosted me (no explanation, no phone calls). He was reading my messages because it tells me. So he cannot "man up". I have been on different sites and the guys are all the same. Too many games that they want to play. I don't waste my time on sites anymore. There is only one person in my life and that is GOD and my family. It's not the websites fault. It's the PEOPLES fault for playing with our hearts and minds!!! You have to be whether Straight (or maybe fully gay) to not be banned. And if gay??? You better ** behave. Or you will get deleted fast. Say anything gay-like?? You risk being deleted. Even if you are a paying subscriber! Like me. And; you will NOT get your money back. They are also AGE prejudice. You can only search for matches if they are within 7 years age gap from you. This is absurd for older men and women who don't care so much about age. We are lonely and just want someone in our generation! Good enough.
This site blocks you from making other member search enquiries too. Depending on how you filled out your profile. I feel there are also some racial blockings too. Not cool. The customer service staff do not communicate effectively with you. They will block you for any reason at all. Without hearing your side of complaints. Auto bans. They are very conservative. If you are a Liberal. Or liberal minded in life style. Even by biology. They don't seek to like that. They weed out the gays and bisexuals. From their site. Some friends also sign up as Couples. POF is filled with a lot of bot and scammers. The scammers usually try to get you involved in an online relationship with someone they believed to be a U.S. Soldier who then began asking for money for various false service-related needs. Victims of these scams can lose tens of thousands of dollars and face a slim likelihood of recovering any of it on their own.
Victims may encounter these romance scammers on a legitimate dating website or social media platform, but they are not U.S. Soldiers. To perpetrate this scam, the scammers take on the online persona of a current or former U.S. Soldier, and then, using photographs of a Soldier from the internet, build a false identity to begin prowling the web for victims. Tech firms like Privycript Ltd who have had a degree of success in tracking and bringing down these cyber crime syndicates that operate from foreign countries.
An Englewood woman said she was scammed out of thousands of dollars after engaging in an online romance relationship stranger on. PrivyCript Ltd successfully tracked and retrieve the accounts used to stow away their illicit proceed. They also worked in conjunction with local police to bring this criminals to justice. Criminals who perpetrate online dating and romance scams use emotional appeals to quickly gain their victims’ trust and then, just as quickly, exploit it. I have been a user of this site for the better part of a few yrs. Online dating is tricky. I have used 6 different sites. I have a few things on the ball, so I typically am fortunate to be able to get some traction, though I am selective. I just had my detailed account eliminated with no notice; no explanation; no recourse, nor right of Due Process. I don't know why. Tried to figure it out. It is possible my account was hacked--you will see that FREQUENTLY on this site. I did have one girl get mildly irked when I would not give my number out--she initially reached out to me. Maybe she reported me--but you think POF can see through this.
I am contemplating re-signing up, but the quality on this site is FAR worse than 6 other dating sites or apps I have tried over time. I have also contemplated becoming a paid premium member--but for this lack of quality--and this unilateral elimination policy with no explanation or recourse (I have seen a LOT of complaints here & elsewhere on this!), I think I may stick to the other sites & hope to get off all of them once & for all. They also do NOT offer an affordable Short-term option, so you don't make a long-term commitment if the benefits are lame. Consider this site LAST, folks! The quality of participants overall is very poor--and the site features appear designed SOLELY for corporate income revenue, though most sites operate largely this way, of course.

Plenty of Fish is a free/subscriber online dating service. At best it has an unethical business model. At worst it is a site that has been allowed to violate an individual's right to due process. I was a member for a period of time beginning in February, 2021 until early March when my account was closed due to undisclosed "violations of their terms of use and/or Community Guidelines". I requested and received an unsatisfactory response from their customer service department. Simply, I was told, "We do not discuss reasons for account closures to protect the privacy of individuals."
I asked again for a reason, citing the possibility of hacking, a client with misandry, someone who did not like that I did not respond to their advances. I pointed out that I made a conscious effort to respond kindly to those with whom I did not feel a connection. In addition, to respond to woman who lived in excess of an hour's drive. I was not afforded the opportunity to know what "violation" nor the opportunity to put forth an affirmative defense. They informed me that I had no recourse in the matter and they would not entertain any further questions in the matter. I was also told not to try to open another account under a different profile name because they would close it down immediately. It seems that POF is ripe for men and women who might wise to get even with members of the opposite gender. All one needs to do is to make a complaint against another subscriber and they are banned for life, without due process and possibly without just cause.

I signed up for this service a couple of weeks ago first as an unpaid customer and then one day ago as a paid customer. Before I paid even though I consider myself just an average Joe I was immediately undulated by many women supposedly interested in knowing me but of course POF blocks the image until you're a paid customer. Just out of curiosity I decided to try it out officially and became a paid member. Strangely enough now all these hidden hidden women that were supposedly interested in me started to block me! Haha I did chat with a couple of interested women over the weekend they turned out to be simply online scammers I gave them my piece of mind for trying to rob me of my hard earned money before blocking them also.
Wow to my surprise on the same day I became a paid member POF sends me an email accusing me of being an abusive member and if this occurs again they'll delete my profile! **? It appears to me POF is more in the scammer industry than the online dating scene and they're very supportive of these scumbags! All of these online dating sites are just platforms for scammers and customers will completely waste their time and money. If you think you're going to discover love there you'll be scammed twice both from the scammers and POF. Maybe they receive financial kickbacks from these guys. My best advice is to stay far away from POF or you'll have nothing but an miserable experience!

Few of the guys wanting to hook up with me so bad that they would offer me money just to meet them up. I said no everytime because I did not wanna break any rules of the site. But for some reason I was still blocked and got my account deleted without telling me what I did wrong. I was only there for 2 days until I got banned. Like why am I the one who is banned when I'm the one being offered and yes I declined. Isn't that unfair for us transwomen? I do not understand why. Penalizing the victim much? So yeah when guys offer you money for sex, even if you decline, you will still be banned from the site.

They don't even fill in their profiles, they say nothing about themselves but only talk about the perfect man they want. Things are 100% opposite on Seek4Her.com and you know why? Because women outnumber men there, so the men aren't so desperate, as a result the women are more feminine, open and friendly. They take better care of themselves, looking perfectly groomed and pretty. They have simpler, unspoiled personalities and adequate undemanding attitude. You don't have to be knight in armour or Rockefeller to be popular there. But on Pof you have to be perfect, you have to put in every possible effort to gain their attention, but ask yourself a question, is it worth it? Don't lose your time and dignity, brothers!

I have actually used POF on and off for over 20 years, going back to when the site was completely free. It was never anything more than serviceable, but since it was free, you got what you paid for. Then about 18 months ago I returned to POF and created a new account because my old account went away when they became a pay site. I was on the site for about 9 months, then deactivated my account and left. I decided to try it once again so I reactivated my account, updated my information and my email and sent a payment for 8 months. I logged out, and downloaded the app for my phone. But when I tried to log back in, it rejected my login and instructed me to request a password reset. I requested the reset and waited...and waited...and waited. I requested the password reset 5 times. Nothing happened. I checked all my folders, spam, trash, everything. No email with password reset instructions.
So I sent an email to the POF customer support. When I finally received a response, this was what they said: "We recently noticed suspicious activity on your account, so we reset your password as a precaution." So they receive my payment and immediately suspend my account and reset my password. And, they never tell me.
I have now exchanged 10 emails with them and the people at their "customer support" have told me that, despite following their instructions on how to reactivate my account, that the inability for me to log back into my account, they cannot help me and they will not return my money. They have said that they will return a portion of my money. This means that, after I paid them and they rendered my account unusable, they feel that they are not responsible and still deserve to keep my money, that they have not earned. What other business is there that believes that they are entitled to keep your hard earned money despite not only never delivering the service/product paid for, but causing the issues that are keeping you from the service/product that you have paid for.

I am a software engineer with over 30 years of experience and have to rate this site as poor in a number of areas. Some of it is poor design, some poor decision making, and some is bias. This following is a list of what I consider the worst.
1. 14 year limit - someone, who presumes to be the absolute authority on human relationships, decided that no one should be in a relationship with anyone who is more than 14 years younger or older than themselves. Due to this, one is not allowed to communicate with anyone who is more than 14 years younger or older. This is bias, also known as age discrimination and leads to people lying about their age.
2. Secret list of taboo words - there is a list of words someone decided were "vulgar", and will keep messages from being sent, stop your profile from getting approved or even have your account flagged. This, in and of itself, is not problematic, but the fact that this list is not available to reference, is. This is a care of bad design and decision making.
3. Different criteria as to what is acceptable in a profile is based on gender - it seems there are different criteria as to what you can say in your profile, depending on whether you are male or female. If you are female, you can state openly that you are looking for sex or drugs, etc., yet if you are male and state the same things, your profile will not be approved. This is case of bias and sexual discrimination.
4. The POF police bot - POF has programmed into their site a bot that examines initial communications between parties. What it is looking for is not disclosed, but if it finds what it is looking for, it will delete your profile. Worst of all, you will not be notified as to why and once deleted, your profile is gone forever. This is bad design.
5. Deleting unread messages - members can delete unread messages. POF tells its members to be nice, but then lets members delete initial messages without even opening them. Since most members what more than short initial messages, this allows for very rude behavior, since someone spent time and effort composing a nice introductory message, just to have a shallow member delete it without looking at it. This is bad design and decision making.
6. Blocked profiles show up in search results - POF includes profiles you have blocked in your match results. There are reasons members block other member's profiles, yet POF puts them in search results, and this allows for the member who blocked the profile to try to write to it again, just to get a message saying this profile is blocked - what a waste of time. This is bad design.
7. Nothing indicating message was not sent - unless you check sent messages, you will not know if your message was sent or not. If you have a taboo word (see above) in an initial message you are sending, POF will not send it and does not notify you that it was not sent. Also, if your message is not sent, it is also deleted so that having one taboo word in a message could cost a lot of time and effort that was put into that message and will have to be duplicated. This is bad design.
8. No way to contact customer service unless logged in - the link to customer service is not available unless a member is logged in. This means, if a member's profile gets deleted for some reason, there is no way for that member to contact customer service, since they cannot log in if their profile has been deleted. This is bad design and decision making.
9. No category for cheaters - POF has no place for cheaters to put their profiles, which means they have to list them with the non-cheaters. If POF had a category for cheaters to list their profiles, it would cut down members that are not interested in cheaters having to deal with the cheaters. This is bad design and decision making.
10. Three month minimum premium membership - POF does not have a one month premium membership. I bet you can guess why. It is not for the convenience of its members. It is only a way of increasing profits - shame on POF. All I can say to this one is "greedy".
I could go on, especially about how lacking POF is when it comes to dealing with scammers and spammers, but I think what I have listed is enough. To sum it up, POF is a POS (think in the terms of waste material). The sooner people quit wasting their time on this site, the sooner this site will either take the steps to remedy its shortcomings or cease to exist. Either would be better than what they have going now.

POF has, as one of many features, a setting to prevent messages from people not fitting certain criteria. I understand the reasoning and am ok with it. The problem comes when a member chooses to send an indication that I am liked by them. I go to message them back and find I am blocked. Now it is obvious this person is interested but doesn’t realize I cannot respond. POF should I indicate to the other person that she has me blocked by her settings. Then give her an option to allow me to contact her. If she says no I will never know anything about it. If she says yes her setting regarding me is overridden and we can proceed with communication. Very frustrating as I have received several of these indications (likes) and cannot respond. And it does not serve her desire. She will never know and will just think I am not interested.

If you file a complaint nothing ever happens to those with a fake ID or with false information. They also will allow people to post pictures that are 10 years or so old or when they were 100 lbs slimmer and their profile says they are slim and trim. Ok I joined Plenty of Fish then getting real no responds. I bought 1 token by a prepaid gift card. Well then I notice money was going missing and then they were nickel and diming me 72 cents 1-23 times a day until there was no money left on it. I still have not been able to take care of it. Then I bought a 3 month membership. After a few days I canceled it and they gave me my money back but after that they started nickel and diming me there as well. I found out after over @200 later the bank phones me and lets me know that 72 cents 5 times a day, 10 bucks here and there so I had to close my acc up and open new acc at cibc.
So now I've decided that they owe me for all my troubles. I gave them a chance to fix the problem. Now I'm going to take them to court. No wonder why they are worth over 5 billoin dollars. So just imagine you've paid 38 dollars for a 3 month service, which is pretty affordable right? Well there's a reason POF is compared to Tinder because I'm pretty sure the developers had a sit down and said, "How can we scam as many people as possible." I signed up for the 3 month and after a day found myself getting a bunch of likes and people wanting to meet me. Half of them were people way beyond my distance requirements and the other half were robots or call centers who set up scam profiles. So, I am not pleased. Note of advice: Never give out credit card information, ever. I wasn't willing to and avoided a scam. What you paid initially for the service should be enough.

POF.com is a dating website. I have been in and out of this site for over 6 years. I have noticed many more fake profiles these last two years and scammers. To make a long story short, each time I am talking with someone I make sure this person is really who they pretend to be. I have become an expert in detecting fraudulent profiles, as soon as they start talking. I reported some of them (Married men, liars and scammers). I am a teacher and I have respect for all people (my reputation is well established). I am very upfront though when I think they are telling me lies.
Here is the way the company deals with that sort of issue: Today I received a message from the company saying I had been harassing people and possibly discriminating them and I have been reported for an offensive behavior. This message included threats of having my profile deleted if it happened again. I responded to them. For me this is just unacceptable from part of a company that doesn't check on the profile of their members and accepts members that obviously are con artists.
I am an older lady and obviously I have been targeted by the latter very often. I just want to report on POF's response to that, which is totally inappropriate. They should check on the profiles of those who report and not accuse of harassment or discrimination the ones that are serious. I am offended and I consider this an insult to me and my profession. I am allowed to ask people if they are fake or scammers since 1 out of 2 is on that website. It is just unbelievable.

I signed up to check POF out - set up the account and went to log-in. It said my user name and password were wrong? - Weird, since I'd just signed up. I tried to reset a couple of times. Then I tried my computer a couple of times. No Luck. Sent an email to support - got a generic email saying to reset my password and explaining they had no individual support options. Tried again - no luck. Meanwhile, over 100 people had sent messages or adding them to favs in two days. I couldn't respond. I couldn't even take down my profile because I couldn't log in!
I sent another email - and oddly got a text from a Connecticut number saying to use a passcode. What? - there is no passcode. Don't even want to know what that was about. But yes, I tried it in case it worked. Of course, when I texted back, silence. Finally, I blocked POF because of the emails coming in - I felt bad as I am sure those guys thought it was just another fake profile. It wasn't. On the 'help page (lol) - POF says if you're still having trouble it may be your IP address and to try again when you are back in the US (lol - I am in MA).
Anyway - I am sure if pressed - they'll have some kind of generic response like my friend who got blocked on FB, "You know what you did..." lol - then they shut her off and closed her account refusing to interact with her. Anyway - I won't try again but if you are thinking too, I'd wait to spend any time creating a profile or uploading a photo until you see if you can log in - because now they have all of this heartfelt info on me with a recent photo posing as a member... Not a good feeling.

Joined POF to help me write an article about online dating sites and apps available. The fake accounts are prevalent but that's not the real issue. If you displease a premium account, yours will be blocked. If you don't answer a premium account, you will be reported and blocked. There is no customer service. There is no explanation. "Your account is blocked because we said so". I made 12 accounts to test. Four of them still remain active because I am "nice" to any premium account that messages. The other 8 are blocked the moment I disagree with a premium accounts' view on women and how they are to be treated. The verbal abuse premium accounts allow themselves is staggering. Nothing happens if they are reported.
I was subjected to gruesome role play requests, a frightening number of pain related questions and a lot worse! A lot of the suggestions made by POF premium accounts were not even legal and can be viewed as an assault. POF doesn't care. I have reported premium accounts numerous times. They are sill active. Pof appears to have different rules for women vs men about the content in profiles. More specifically, photos. When a man tries to post say a picture of his backyard, it is immediately deleted with the message saying that it does not conform to the rules. However, women have pictures of flowers, pets, scenery etc. in their profile which have been there forever. Why is that, other than displaying gender discrimination?
The reason why a man would like to post say his backyard, is to show how he maintains his place to potential matches. One would hope that it would convey a message of expectations in a relationship. On the other hand, a picture of say just a blue rose flower, a pet, etc. is allowed, with absolutely nothing else, in a woman's profile. Why is that, other than for gender discrimination?

The reason why most women are getting booted off is because they are being blocked too much by men! And get this.. They will not let you recreate another account, because the sneaky buggers flag your IP address, so every time you try to create an account - no matter what information you use, it will not let you! I know, because I tried eight times on five different devices & none of them worked. Until I turned off wi-fi & did it through 4G on my phone!
Here is my advice.. If you received a message from anyone you're not interested in, don't even reply back. Because once you do, you can get blocked by him for rejecting you.. & if you get a certain number of blocks per day, your account gets automatically deleted with no warning!! I had joined POF a couple of years back because I had known a couple who managed to find each other on that site. I thought I would give it a try only to learn there were unfortunately a lot of fake profiles, people looking to scam for money or other personal information. What men I had talked to sadly admitted to having either drugs, alcohol, low self-esteem issues or troubles getting over past relationships and carrying a lot of baggage. A couple of men who contacted me on POF admitted being ex-cons... One who had a federal drug offense while another had a record of extortion!!!
Other issues were men claiming to have been burned by POF and are not very trusting of the women on there or are using this site for entertainment purposes only and not taking this site seriously. Question is then... why are they still there?? More so I learned this site catered to those looking to have one-night stands as there were men and women admitted to being married and looking to meet other people. There were talks POF had improved their site since then to offer better quality ways of meeting people and to do so safely. So... I gave it one last recent shot only to discover that the only improvement was their front page as you begin registering.
In addition, When I had rejoined for a second chance, I learned from some men on that site they were paying members and had issues getting their money returned and are on there to warn others or I had conversed with a couple of non-paying members who learned of either the same thing or of friends who managed to get their account closed, only to learn those accounts remained open by POF to look like they had a lot of paying members to choose from, so those non-paying members were lucky enough to know not to turn their trusted credit cards to POF for an upscaled membership. This hacker was lazy, because he only slightly altered my bio profile. When I complained to POF about this breach of security, they failed to return ANY of my correspondence. Once they get your money, they don't care. If you want a dating site, don't go to POF.

Signed up for this site in late November 2017. Sent out hundreds (plural) of messages. Actually went out on 4 dates with 4 different women spread out in 2018. More fakes and scammers on this site than real legitimate women. Most of the profiles read the same. "I have my career, own house, own car and looking for a nice guy" blah blah. The scammers are easy to spot. Just look at the high quality of pics on their profiles that don't seem to belong on this site. Also take note of bizarre letter and number combinations in the headlines, multiple question marks and mentions of tacos (bizarre I know but those are usually fakes). Fast forward to 2019. I've sent out roughly 80 messages with 7 views and one message back from a scammer.

Decided to try POF, I’ve also tried Tinder, Match and eharmony. By far POF is the worst, here are my personal reasons why I paid for only 1 month and then cancelled.
1. Most scammers I’ve ever encountered, About 65% of all my messages from women were scammers. So many profiles, I must have reported at least 1/2 a dozen within my first few days of using it. I even sent messages to customer care and never once received a reply back from them, they don’t care. just try POF and you will see.
2. They have age restrictions, so you can only view people within 14 years of your age, so if you like older or younger women you can’t view them if they are 14 years older or younger than you. POF we are all adults on your site so who gives you the right to determine what age we can search, especially if we are paying for your service like I was.
3. Can’t search only paying customers or upgraded members, doesn’t give you the option. I would have liked to search for people who actually paid like I did because someone who pays most likely will be a real person.
I personally don’t think they do a good job on weeding out the fake profiles like Tinder and eharmony do. My personal belief is they don’t care for their customers, they're not looking for long term members. Their content with someone paying for only one month and then losing them, then keeping a member long term.

POF is not the place to meet someone as 95% of the profiles and messages that I have received are not authentic. Photos have been stolen off the web (just do a reverse image search) and the messages are scripted, silly, and absurd, several claiming I am the most beautiful woman they have ever encountered, etc. The majority say they are widowed, I guess to engage sympathy. The filters do not work and many of the fake profiles/messages are from different parts of the country. Never pay for a subscription or you will be very sorry!
And if you do decide to use the site be skeptical of each and every message. One man with a very attractive photo ended up asking me on the first phone call if I owned my own home and what kind of job I had. His foreign accent really gave it away after he admitted he was living in the Dominican Republic but was coming home to the States very soon! I bet if I waited around long enough the request for his travel money would have been next.

This site is FULL of scammers and frauds. I can't even count any more how many scam messages I have received. The only reason I haven't deleted my account yet is because I make it a point to report each and every scam/fraud message I receive. No one should even consider upgrading to a paid membership, because the POF staff appear completely unable to control the scammers and fraud artists. If Zero stars was an option; that's the rating I would give.

I have signed up with POF 3 times. Get to look thru a few profiles and then it asked me to sign in to tell me I entered the wrong password. I know it's right. I wrote it down and trying to get a hold of anyone at POF is a joke. I tried a site and it said straight away answer the phone so I did then he spent the next 3 hrs trying to get £600.00 out of my account. He had control over my computer, my cell phone so if this happens to you and they ask for money hang up and delete anything that they have asked you to install and disconnect your wifi first and switch your phone off and block and delete their phone no.

I became a paid member after the bait and rob technique made famous by match.com where fake profiles are used to get you to pay on order to see who liked you. Next, my account was hacked, and damaging messages were sent under my banner. I'm now blocked by so many people, the product is now useless to me. I asked for a refund from pof.com refunds, and the sent me to iTunes, knowing iTunes would deny it. This is an inanimate object with no software being downloaded, so there is no reason to refuse. Do not pay for pof.com - it's a scam.

I literally had to find an app to give a witty response just to use the dating app. I've used other sites and NOT had this experience. POF is like Tinder for old people. Good if you want a hook up, bad if you want something real. It also sucked to make a great connection only to find they live in another state. Realistically I'm locked to my job and I don't expect someone to move to my state.

My friend dated someone from this site in FL, turns out he had just exited state prison a week prior and was looking for his next scam/meal ticket. I myself used POF and found the answers I received to be vulgar. This match site is not a safe place to find a mate, a date, or anyone great.

I searched conversations she had with other members, found out her name and number and reported that to PoF. I think at this point she is not active in my account anymore.

When you don't go to bar or out anywhere to meet new people, online is the best way. But also be careful and have a plan before you meet someone. Have your best friend on standby in case things aren't going well. They can send you a text within 10 or 15 minutes and that can be your excuse for leaving. Always meet in a public place too. I have met a lot of very nice people and a few weird ones.

Poor app makes for lots of watsed time and effort
1. If you block someone, they shouldn't come up in your search and if they block you, the same. Yet you are able to read their profile, craft a nice email and only when you send it, you discover that they blocked you without your knowledge. I complained to POF and as usual, they didn't read my message, they wrote back with instructions on how to block someone!! LOL
2. Same issue when users opt to only receive messages from upgraded users. You are able to read their profile, craft a nice email and only when you send it, you discover that they only receive emails from those dumb enough to pay. Probably a POF plant.
3. There should be a button for political affiliation, which allows users to search with left, right or moderate. Time and time again I read through a long profile only to see the last sentence say, I won't date you if, blah blah. Or sometimes this info is omitted and you only find out after a week of chatting.
They need to fix a lot of stuff on this app, it's actually pretty poorly designed.

POF does not seem to care about catching fraudulent users. They don't detect actual GEO location as a means of validating actual user locations - I have had so many accounts where the person was actually in Ghana Africa, but claimed to be in my city. All fake accounts. Also, there is an ongoing scam about POF video chat where the user ask you to join POF video chat; POF does not have Video chat- POF could end this scam by simply posting this directly on their site, but POF doesn't. I receive "like's" from accounts at least 5 to 10 times a day from users running this scam- They want to get your credit card info.
Hacked accounts- I have received so many likes from the same woman (at least her photo) but all different accounts - Over 25 a day from the same woman, but all different accounts - they seem to hack accounts and send likes to upgraded members trying to get them to go offline and register for POF video chat. I report them and POF does nothing about it.

I would be hot over and over by people who said they were widowers in their 60s with little children who needed a wife. Always the same story with different faces. Then they would ask for money cards. Overall I met one man in real life. I give this site a -0-.
