I recommend staying away from any dating site that is owned by the Match Group. POF used to be good when it wasn't owned by the MG. They basically defiled it like they have with all of the other major dating sites that used to be good before they they became corrupt. Match.com used to be good until about 5yrs ago. OurTime wasn't the best before the MG bought them, but now it's just like Match. It's literally a mirror image of it. Tons of fake and inactive profiles to lure you in. Bottom line, the Match Group is over a half a million dollar corporation. That should tell you something. Verify the dating site owner before you sign up.
As for POF, I'm embarrassed to say I have been on that site off and on for far too long. In short, I was a hopeless optimist in spite of the the plethora of fake profiles. My last time on there was a month ago when I decided to pay for 3 mo. I was barely on there a month when they removed my profile, but would not give me any reason why. Even though it wasn't that much money to me, because I make that in less than 2hrs of work, it was the ethical point that pissed me off. The fact that they literally stole my money and removed my account with no regard says a lot. They are money hungry and it will eventually backfire on them someday. Their day of reckoning will come.

POF was good years ago but now it’s just a money grab. They send you fake views and likes to get you to bite since you can’t see who sent them unless you pay. Old and dormant profiles, scammers, game players and plain out liars. They prey on people’s loneliness and desperation, sad.

So far I believe this is the worst dating site ever. Compared to Tinder the selection of women ** any culture is absolutely the worst, even pathetic from a male perspective. And to add insult to injury, you can only like one profile a day unless you pay for it, which is a waste of money. Make the likes free.

I was a member of this site for two days. I paid premium package for a month and just about every single person was widowed with no children, loves to walk on the beach and has a master's degree for. Don’t waste your time. Others are saying they’re accounts another country but I believe that they’re bots from the company. Has anyone noticed there’s no customer service phone number? I can’t figure out any place to ask for my money back so I’m going to put in a complaint with my credit card.

Signed up for POF and paid two months to be able to see profiles. Once I paid the profiles became less and 90% of them were fake and people from other countries. After a while did not alert me or did anything but I could not send messages. Call customer support to see what’s going on with my app and they told me I was violating the color conduct which is not true because 90% of the profiles are fake. Do not waste your time or money on this app as strongly recommend not to even download it.

I signed up for POF a few days ago. So I paid for a 3 month subscription. Once subscribed the men who like me were blurred, I thought it was an error. So I asked the question why I could not see the men that liked me so “since I’m paying” I could respond to them if I liked them. The site said I had to pay to see their faces. What the heck!!! I already paid. Come to find out they are ripping people off once you pay you have to pay again to see the faces. Very deceptive. I asked for my money back and they said they don’t do refund. A big rip off. Be careful.

I tried the 3 month plan and spent a lot of time on the app. Bottom line it was a big waste of time and energy. I discontinued the pay service and deleted the app and they had the balls to bill me again. I am disputing the charge on my card. Be very careful when signing up. I had 0 results and all they want is your $$$. PLUS, I found that they have a lot of fake accounts and ghosting. WORTHLESS CHEATS.

Received an email that my account had suspicious activity; logged on via my iPad and was asked to verify. The only option I had was via their picture verification system. So, I complied and had their software take my pics. I got a success message for my pics taken, but then I received an OOPS message that something went wrong. I tried 2 more times, same result. Then, I used my iPhone, and it showed me that my account was banned because of an violation of their rules. I submitted a trouble ticket to understand why, and the answer I gotten was: "After review of your account and the information you provided, we have determined you have violated our Terms of Use or Community Guidelines and your account should remain banned. Therefore, your appeal is denied. I understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for but we appreciate your cooperation in this matter. This matter is closed and not subject to further appeal."
I mailed back to understand what I had done wrong and received the following: "Our records show that you have already been provided appeal consideration by our team. Please refer to our previous email notifying you of our decision, which is not subject to further appeal. See our Terms of Use or Community Guidelines for further information." I still have not gotten a response, and I cannot even request a refund of my money spent.

Plenty of fish is truly a scam. They have a phone number that does not pick up and eventually will cut you off. They have a billing email address that will bounce back any email you send attempting to cancel your membership. I used an old email address and fortunately took screenshots of my sent box showing 1.5 years ago my attempt to cancel my membership. It was ignored by Plenty of fish. Again, this is a very dangerous and rogue company. Stay far away from this and stick to the main dating apps, which all have decent reputations. Plenty of fish will be gone soon. But they will have taken a lot of innocent consumers’ money in the process.

I wouldn't recommend this dating app to anyone. I encountered plenty of fake profiles and men that would either talk way too much or barely say a word, there was no balance. I thought I'd try Plenty Of Fish, that proved to be a huge mistake! It wasn't even a month .. I was banned, I didn't even get a chance to put a profile picture on .. I didn't use inappropriate language .. No personal info, nothing .. I don't know what happened? I don't have access to my account, I have repeatedly emailed and they issue ticket numbers that they don't intend to respond to, and I called the POF telephone number only to find out that, they don't take calls .. I had to change my bank number because they had my financial info .. just don't join. They are not honest.

This is not the first time this has been an issue and a lot of people are coming out saying similar things have happened. I was banned after being there for 24 hours. I requested a reason and for my account to be removed. Weeks later, backs and forth of them not reading what I am requesting and not assisting, here we are. They are still using my profile and have no intention of removing it. I am so frustrated. Not to mention the scammers, pedos, s3x p3sts on there that I reported but nothing happened as that does not go against their rules. DO NOT USE.

Many years ago when I was on POF, it was halfway decent. Now it's full of fake profiles and scammers. Many of the men who are on this site, never read their messages and even tell you they're not on the site very often. So why are they on a dating app if they're not using it? When you look at the customers picked for you, 50% of them give you a message to look elsewhere, this person is seeking something else. Again, this site used to be pretty good, it's gone downhill. I do not recommend. Tinder and Bumble are much better.

About 5 years ago I was a member of POF, had a few success meets but nothing of any substance. About 2 weeks ago, I joined again. Thus far POF has deleted 71 profiles that I informed them were fake. Apparently, POF does nothing to very little to nothing to verify the authenticity of the profiles. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT pay for any service that POF offers. Now it's very easy to determine a fake profile. The pictures are of beautiful women who list an age that is obviously incorrect. All you need to do is download a pic and do a reverse image scan using a free app and you will find 90% of the time that the pic is from a model, usually European. Please don't get fooled when you select the "LIKE" option feature and you receive a "Mutual" response that the profile you selected likes you as well. Do your research, the chances are of the response are extremely high. Better off getting a hooker at least you get something for your money.

I tried this site 4 years ago. Decided recently to check it out again. They redesigned the site. I don't believe there is a single legitimate person on the entire site. Tons of scammers. I'm thinking the site is in on it too. They give you 1 free message to send out every 24 hours. You can also pay for a 3, 6, or 1 year membership where you basically pay for the scammers to get your "likes" and you can put yourself in the front of this "Meet Me" thing where you will be first on display for the scammers to target you. And you can pay to send out a max of 50 messages a day. If you're paying for it, shouldn't you be able to send out as many as you want? I would avoid the paid subscription at all costs (no pun intended). The profiles that say "I can't see likes" and "I don't have Meet Me" are really great. Also the ones that send out likes and first contacts and then it says they disabled their profiles for messaging.

I wanted to change the age preference of the men I’d like to meet. But it always defaulted to an age I was not interested in. I should be able to pick my own age of preference, not POF’s. Who I choose to date is of no concern to Plenty of Fish and therefore the ages I am interested in should be picked by myself.

I tried the free POF dating site and when it gave me the option to upgrade, I chose the 1 month subscription but it boosted me to a 119.00 year long subscription without my consent. I have emailed the POF.com site numerous times and have never got a reply back. They took 119.00 from me and I got nothing. I canceled my subscription and did not use the service, I believed I would get my money back or my Regions Bank would cancel my subscription and get my money back to my account but because POF offers no phone support and no receipt of purchase my worthless Regions bank says I was responsible for getting that before I engaged in commerce with POF; although REGION'S BANK did not block the sale for 5 days because they said it was in a pending status. Beware of this site, it has no phone support and will boost your bank account and leave it in pending status for days until your worthless bank leaves you high and dry.

POF was once a trusted and wonderful site. In recent years, however the site has become home to plenty of fake and spam accounts. As quickly as you report them, the fakes return fast. POF takes no preventative action whatsoever against these fake accounts. In addition, I was issued a warning for being a "false reporter" of fake accounts when all of my reports were justified.
I have made some contacts and friends on this site. But the vast majority of accounts on the site are spam bots. POF needs to take a more preventative stance against fraud on the site, and also needs to treat reports as being made in "good faith". That includes taking no retaliatory action against reports because doing so discourages reporting of these accounts and also opens POF and its parent company up to legal action and liability.

I agree with everyone who gave it 1 star. The 5 stars must be fake. I can't judge or comment on the people on it. That is out of anyone's control. BUT POF itself has more roadblocks than any other dating site. To name a few... VERY gender discriminatory. Woman can message as many men as they want to all day and night. Men are allowed ONE (1) per 24 hours. You would think they would want you to be on the site as long as possible. But it's one nice message and poof. That's it for the day.
You can ONLY message women within a narrow age range of your own. I'm talking 5 years younger or older. NO other site does that. Let the OTHER person decide if we may be too young or old for them. You can ONLY have photos of yourself. You cannot have pictures of your favorite or most beautiful places on earth to share unless you are IN them. So I have to selfie stick my face in front of El Capitan Yosemite? The search settings are terrible. So many other negatives about POF that I just don't have time to list them all.

After being on Plenty of Fish for a month or so, I finally paid for 1 month yesterday. The site said I had 130 likes and views, but I couldn't see any until I paid. Of the 40 plus who "liked" me, about 25% were non existing accounts. Even if the like was only a couple of hours old, when I clicked on the person, the account was no longer available. These likes were usually from pretty or desirable women. I think POF uses people whose job it is to send out multiple likes. In that way, we pay just to see all these fake accounts.

I upgraded, complete waste of money, they don't give a monthly option so you have to pay up front minimum $60. Total waste, and it's weird how say if you're 60 and you want to search for younger women, they don't allow it, it cuts you off at like 45 minimum. Um, what if someone older dates younger, or younger dates older? If they are of age, they should have that right, especially if you pay money.... I can't say everything else I'd like to say, but just trust me, go hit the bars, casinos, grocery store, gas station, co workers, this site ain't it. Save your money fellas, I wasted mine.

I've been through many dating platforms over the years and POF is honestly the biggest headache-inducing service that I've used. I've been on their platform on 2 different occasions with little-to-no differing experiences. I spent almost 2 1/2 years on there from October 2018 to February 2021 and all I found were either bot accounts or dead silence. I returned to the service this past April and out of all of the accounts that I've had conversations with, only TWO of them were real people. This service is littered with bot accounts and I get contacted by at least one per day.
Some just flat-out message you saying, "I have snap, add me:____" with either a random name or even one that isn't the same that they list in their bio. Those accounts just want to add you on Snapchat to either sell you an OnlyFans subscription or to get money from you through a money-transferring service. Since the platform doesn't have a certified way to verify that a user is an actual human, this issue persists. Even though I've had issues with other services, at least services like Tinder and OkCupid have ways of verifying that a profile belongs to a real person.
One thing that even stands out that makes these profile look suspicious is when the job description of some users just say "job". If they were real people, they'd list what they do for a living rather than just having that answer in their profile. It's easy to tell when someone is using a stolen photo through a reverse image search, but it's impossible to tell who is real without visiting someone's profile first and it's pretty likely that the account you're viewing is a bot.
I honestly don't know who I can trust on the platform due to this rampant bot issue, which the service clearly has no intention of fixing. And if they did fix it, their real user base would drastically drop due to the high percentage of bot accounts that are littering the platform on a daily basis. How are people supposed to trust a dating platform when there's a highly likely chance that you're just going to come into contact with a fake profile? People go to these services to find a significant other, not to be consistently let down like a clickbait YouTube video. Until POF implements a system that forces users to prove that they're human and not a bot, this ongoing bot account dilemma will never subside. If you want an accurate name to give the platform, replace the F with the letter that's 2 keys to the left of that letter on your keyboard.
